LaVar Arrington
There we go. It's good broadcasting from the Mercedes man cave. This is the Dan Patrick Show. It's the Dan Patrick show here, Fox Sports Radio. He's Levar Arrington. I'm Jonas Knox in for Dan and the guys here on this Friday after Thanksgiving, this Black Friday edition, which is appropriate for us. We fill in occasionally here on the Dan Patrick show, but when Lavar and I are doing our normal routine, we are on two pros and a cup of joe alongside Brady Quinn, Monday through Friday, 6:00am Eastern Time, 3:00 clock Pacific. Now, when Brady Quinn is not in, you can't call it two pros in a cup of Joe. So we like to play it safe and we call it Black and Drac. Black and Drac because I look like.
Jonas Knox
Dracula and I look like I'm black. Dracking black.
LaVar Arrington
That is correct. So we are, we are off and running.
Jonas Knox
I am black, y', all, by the way. I mean, whether Jonas is a Dracula, a vampire, I don't, I don't know. But I am a black man, by the way. I don't just, I don't just look black.
LaVar Arrington
I'm pretty pale. I'm pretty.
Jonas Knox
You are pretty. You are pretty. Dracula. Ish.
LaVar Arrington
Pale.
Jonas Knox
Yeah, you, you are that.
LaVar Arrington
That dog hunts. Now, you may mention you made mention of this. Check your text. You made mention of this. The Micah Parsons era in Green Bay, it has been pretty quiet, but it's been really effective and just sort of flying under the radar. He's had a really good year and it's like gotten, not gotten a lot of buzz. I think people maybe Saw the start of the season and said, well, you know, he's off to a bit of a slow start, but if you actually looked at his numbers with the Cowboys early on in seasons, he gets off to a slow start, but here we are again. He's got another dozen sack season, there's six games left to go in the season, and all of a sudden what they traded him for has now played out in form and it did yesterday as they take care of business and beat the Detroit Lions. He's a good man.
Jonas Knox
He's a difference maker for them, but he would be a dish difference maker for, for everyone. I know that. Again, the conversations have continued. Are, Are the Dallas Cowboys a better team? That, that's been a debate without Micah Parsons? Are the Green Bay Packers a better team with Micah Parsons? And again, I don't think that one has to be untrue for the other one to be true. So, so yes, it does look as though Brian Schottenheimer is doing an amazing job with Dallas. And it seems to be turning, turning in the direction of, you know, positive, positive outcomes. They're, they're winning games and, and that's not coming from a pass rush. That's coming from being able to stop the run and, and having a prolific offense out there on the field now for, for the Green Bay packers, you know, they've been shorthanded on offense and, and the workload has fallen on the shoulders of, of certain individuals and, and this past game, you know, Watson was able to, to get it going, they were able to do some really good things on the offensive side of the ball. I, I feel like love, Love does what he's supposed to do and he plays at a, a high level and, and for the most part, he protects the ball. He makes good decisions, decisive decisions. And, and they have a run game. They have a run game. And, and so to me, you look at what Michael Parsons added to that defense, it's just another, it's a dynamic that, I mean, you know, when they had Zadarius and, and other guys like Rashawn Gary by himself is, is an amazing pass rusher, gets a ton of pressure on quarterbacks. But you add Micah Parsons, he's a generational talent. He really is. It's not just. You don't just say that to say it. Michael Parsons is a generational talent. He impacts the team in, in, in profound manner. And, and that hasn't changed being in, in Green Bay. So now you have a formidable defense, you have a formidable offense, and, and, and you have the balance of it all, all of it from special teams on, you have that balance with Green Bay. So good. You know, it, it seems like it worked out for everyone. Dallas is, is a better team. They're looking like they can win the NFC east, in fact, and Green Bay is looking like, you know what they need to look like. They look like they can win NFC North. So there you go.
LaVar Arrington
Yeah, it's, it just, there's been no noise like there's been. And that's probably a breath of fresh air. And, and one of the things that Micah Parsons made mention of is, and I forget who the, the player was that told him. A Penn State guy who's with the Packers. God, I'm blanking on his name. But he told Micah Parsons, when you get to Green Bay, it's going to remind you of State College. Like, it's going to remind you of. It's not Dallas. It's not this big extravagant sort of circus that Jerry Jones has created. It's going to feel like where you played college football. And I wonder if he's gotten there and just been like, dude, I don't have to deal with any of this crap. I don't have to worry about who the, the owner doing two interviews a week on local radio. I don't even know who the owner is. Like, I think it's some guy that lives down the street that I saw taken out his trash cans earlier. Like, I, I, he just, he doesn't have to deal with any of that crap. He can just play ball. And you just look at the numbers and you go, oh, yeah, he's like one of the best in the league again. Every single year. Like, one of the best in the league again. And he came up big yesterday for him.
Jonas Knox
All I'll say is Micah Parsons is such a competitor, it doesn't matter where he's at. He could play for, for the Munstars, bro, in a different planet. And he's still going to ball the same exact way because that's just how he's wired. He's going and, and all it was taking was for him to get back into game condition. That's really what it is. I mean, let's be clear, he had a tad bit of a slow start, even though he was still impacting. But now you're starting to see him getting to that and it could be dangerous because it wasn't his, his clock, his body clock did not start the same time as everybody else's because he didn't participate in training camp. So his He's. His body's just now starting to get in that space where he's going to feel good. Like, he's. He's got game lungs, he's got game legs, and you're going to see what Micah Parsons brings to the table as a Green Bay Packer is going to continue to be a lot of production. That's what he does. So when you look at where he's at right now, could he have made Dallas? If Dallas is as good as they are right now, I just think it's irresponsible to say they're better without Micah Parsons.
LaVar Arrington
Yeah, it's.
Jonas Knox
They're not better without Micah Parsons with what they've done. Because if you add Michael Parsons to what they've done, that much better than what they are right now, if you get what I'm saying. Yeah, so they're really good right now, but they would be even better than what they are right now if they had Michael Parsons on. On their roster.
LaVar Arrington
So Dallas making the moves that they made post. Micah Parsons felt like a guy really trying to win the breakup. That's what it felt like. It felt like Jerry Jones realized, wow, we just traded away a generational talent, a guy who's on pace to be a Hall of Famer, and we traded him away so that we could improve our run defense. Like, that's the. And anybody who thinks that that was the wise decision to make is crazy. Like, you. Like, we can try and, you know, manipulate the numbers all we want. Facts are facts. Micah Parsons is proven. He's done it every single year. He's doing again in Green Bay, and the guy's on track to be a Hall of Famer, and Jerry Jones traded him away because things got personal when it comes to the negotiations. And. And so, like, all these moves they've made, Quinn and Williams and these first round picks and these, like, they're trading this guy and that guy. Like, awesome. But to your point, you wouldn't have had to do all that had you just gotten the deal done that everybody assumed you were going to get done. Because why would you let a guy like that walk? Like, why would you. And then why would you go on a podcast with Michael Irvin weeks later and say, well, I never saw this guy, you know, laying down on a training table, you know, during a preseason game. Okay, but you did see that guy pull out a pair of scissors and stab a guy who was getting his haircut cut a teammate. Like you did. You did see Charles Haley expose him. Like, there's been A lot of stuff there, Jerry.
Jonas Knox
So let, like saying a few things. Yeah, you say a few.
LaVar Arrington
It's like, what are we talking about here? So I, I just, I, I wonder if Micah Parsons, upon further review, even though he wants to, he wanted to stay in Dallas, is like, man, good riddance. I could just play. I don't have to deal with it.
Jonas Knox
I, I think it's a tremendous point because State College is the type of place where it is. It's not a big city. It's in between them, it's in between Philly, it's in between Pittsburgh. It's its own place. We don't compete with any other sports. You know, if you're, if you're playing for a team and, you know, certain places, they're college and there are pro, like, I live in la. You got usc, you got ucla, but you also have all of the pro teams. You got two of each, you got two NBA teams, you got two NFL teams. So it's a loaded market, and people have a lot of choices. You go somewhere like where Micah is right now, all they have is the Green Bay Packers. That's it. And I'm telling you, it's the wildest thing. If you ever go to a Green Bay packers game, the wildest thing is when you pull up to where they're playing, it literally is the neighborhood.
LaVar Arrington
Rasheed Walker was the, the, the guy, the Penn State player who told Micah Parsons what you're saying, that it feels like State College, the Green Bay, but.
Jonas Knox
And I, I, I've been there. I played there twice, and I visited there because I almost got recruited by Brett Favre to go there, which, by the way, he ended up not even staying. But anyway, I went there and it, it just, it, to be honest with you, maybe State College might even be a little bit ahead. Be a little bit ahead, yeah, we got electric a little bit ahead, but it's just going to be focused in on getting from, from your crib to the practice facility to doing whatever it is you need to do. The man is set financially for life. He's stable in his, in his personal life. He handles business and his, in his business life, he's, he's clicking on all cylinders. And I'm happy that he gets an opportunity to just be respected and admired from a personal standpoint, not from an analyst. From a personal standpoint. I'm just glad he's in a situation where he gets to get appreciated and there not be this constant idea of, of trying to create this, this real different undercurrent of what the energy and emotions should be going towards him. I don't know where that came from. You know, I can ultimately tell you when a guy gets the type of attention, and I know this from experience, when a guy gets the type of attention that Micah Parsons was garnering as a defender in the National Football League in Dallas and. And one of the markets, if not the hottest market to play NFL football in, there's going to be a lot of jealousy. There's going to be people that. That kind of maybe, you know, aren't on his side and. And want to see him succeed and do well. That does exist. And. And so maybe that's what it was, because I think he got a raw deal in terms of the way Jerry Jones ultimately tried to paint the picture of who he was. And. And now where he's at now, he doesn't have to deal with, as you mentioned, big, big, you know, big market politics. He just gets to play ball.
LaVar Arrington
I mean, what seems to be working. What. What is a day in Green Bay like, if you're. If you're a member of the Packers? Like, what. Like what. What is there to do?
Jonas Knox
I don't. Like I said to me, bro, I. I was with Nick Barnett. Nick was still playing when. When I went on my visit, and I wanted to play. Play ball alongside Nick. I thought he was just a fine human being and. And played football the way I played football. That was super attractive to go play with Nick. So I'm hanging out with him. I'm like, all right, bro, you got 56. Like, if I come here, what we doing? He's like, if you come here, you have it. Like, I was like, oh, that's like. We was on some cool stuff. So what do we do? Like, he's like, what do you mean? That's it? What we doing? Like, you know, what we got.
LaVar Arrington
How.
Jonas Knox
Well, we got weights, we got. Let's see, we got. We got some film room. Da, da, da. I was like, yeah, yeah, I get all that. I was like, but what else? Like, what we're getting into? Like, da, da, da. Like, we get out of here, do all of this, that meet with the coaches. What we doing? Oh, we're going over to Brett's. We'll go to. We'll go kick it out Brett's place. We go to Brett Favre's place, man. Nobody in there. And I'm sitting there, I'm like. I'm like, look at that, Nick. And he's just happy as hell. I'm like, this it, bro. He's like, what you mean? And then he finally caught on. Like, oh, maybe he avoided it on purpose on this because I was on a recruiting trip. Like, maybe because they was trying to get me to come there. Like, it's like, oh, we go to Milwauke to go. You want to go to Milwaukee? We could go to Milwaukee. Milwaukee's dope. Da da da, this, that and the other. It's like just a little drive. Da da da. I was like, so this is it for, for where you live, where we live and what we got? He's like, yeah, pretty much. You got the, you got the casino, but that's about it. Like, dang.
LaVar Arrington
All right, well, you ain't, you ain't even got the tussle there, bro. No, no high end drive.
Jonas Knox

Yeah. Thanks for getting my nerves going.
LaVar Arrington
Okay.
Jonas Knox
Gotta be nervous.
LaVar Arrington
I just, I mean, Ryan Day's got an interesting approach. I don't know if you saw the news, Albert Brear, but Ryan Day is having the team fly in as opposed to that.
Albert Breer
Yeah. Which I would think, like, actually would take longer because think about it, it's like a little under three hours if you're driving. Right. Like, and if you're driving like I drive anyway. And so, like, if you talk about, like, going to the airport, boarding, and I know they charter, but like going to the airport, boarding, getting off in Detroit, and then it's like still another, whatever, 25 minutes from Ann Arbor. Like, I would think that would take longer. Right. Am I wrong about that?
Jonas Knox
I think you're reaching a B. I think you're reaching because you're trying to, in your mind justify if it goes wrong, why they should have just went ahead and drove in the buses as opposed to. You're going to start it as. The origin of messing up this year's game was the fact that Ryan Day chose to fly instead of draft. That's what this sound. Just wondering.
Albert Breer
Logistically, I'm a travel connoisseur, so.
Jonas Knox
All right, I'm just saying what it sounds like. Ab. That's, I'm just, I just want you to say. I just want you to understand what the listener is hearing from you right now. That's, that's, that's all I want.
LaVar Arrington
Yeah.
Albert Breer
No, no, no, no. I'm just I'm actually just, just like, you know, looking at this, because I'm, I'm kind of like a, I'm, I'm, I'm like a doctor of travel, basically, at this point, based on all the travel I've done. So I just, I like to analyze these things, you know, from a, From a pure facts standpoint. And I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure what will be faster. I think driving might be faster.
Jonas Knox
Do you really think so? I mean, that's interesting.
Albert Breer
So you think so? Yeah, well, no, it's like 200. It's 200 miles, right? So it's, it's, it's almost like exactly 200 miles. So you figure you, you can do that in three hours. Okay, so if you do that in three hours, like, it probably takes you, I don't know, 15 minutes to get from. 15, 20 minutes to get from campus to the airport. Then how long does it take you to board the plane? Right?
Jonas Knox
Like, probably like 45 to an hour.
Albert Breer
You're probably in the air for it's probably like a half hour, 45 minutes in the air, right? Then you land, you taxi, you d. Plane, you get on another bus. Like, I think.
Jonas Knox
How far is that bus?
Albert Breer
More than three hours, huh?
Jonas Knox
How much is the, how far is the bus from the hotel, from where they're going?
Albert Breer
Well, anniversary, like 20, 30. Because the Detroit airport's, like, halfway between actual Detroit and Ann Arbor, So it's like 25 minutes.
Jonas Knox
It might be a lot quicker. It sounds a little quicker, huh? It sounds a little quicker to fly. Maybe not by much, but maybe a little quicker. It might be too close to, to, to, like, split hairs on it, is what you're trying to say, right? So they should, should they drive? So should they have draft A.B.
Albert Breer
I don't mind. I don't mind. No, I don't. I don't mind. I don't mind keeping the routine. I think that that was smart by Ryan to keep the routine. I'm just, again, like, I, I, I'm way too interested in these sorts of questions.
LaVar Arrington
Well, we, we're gonna get your, your, your pick on the game like we do every single week when you join us on fo. I did want to ask you, based on what we saw last night, because, look, Joe Burrow gives him a boost. They come back, Cincinnati wins that game. What's wrong with Baltimore? Because, like, honestly, because it just, it hasn't looked good, really, all year outside of a couple of spots. But Lamar Jackson does not look like the same player.
Albert Breer
Well, and I think that's sort of what it comes down to. I think their defense is fine for the most part. Like, I. And I think, like, what you saw last night was one of the best players in football coming back into the lineup in the second half of that game, really looking like himself, you know, which you would expect Joe Burrow to be able to, you know, create, generate offense, you know, no matter who's on the other side. So that was, you know, obviously part of the equation. But I do think the Baltimore defense has played pretty well on balance over the course of the year. So then, you know, like, you. Then. Then the next question would be, where's the offense at? And like, really, to me, that offense is not like the same all year. And, you know, I. I think if we're going back to when Lamar got hurt, right, like, and how that affects them, like, I thought last night, like, for the first time, it does look like he start. He's starting to get the juice back in his legs, right, like, where he can still. You can still, you know, pull it and run it the way that he's always been able to. We started to see that come back, like, last night. I think he saw it. I just wonder, like, you know, like, does this injury, has this injury had an effect on his mechanics? Because, you know, quarterbacks, like, little things can screw up. Screw up things to the point where it's like, okay, like, maybe it's not the most noticeable thing in the world, but you throw your accuracy off a little bit, you know, or it can make you. It can, it can. It can cause a little bit of, like a tweak in the way you play. That needs to be fixed when you get to the off season. So. So, you know, Lamar is still a great, great player, but we're so used to him being, you know, in that group of four quarterbacks with him and Burrow and Mahomes and Allen, and it just like, again, like, not like he's falling off the face of the earth, but they don't look as dangerous offensively as they have. And it'll be interesting to see if they can get that together because remember, as, you know, up and down as things have been, they did win five in a row going into last night's game. And the rest of their schedule is pretty interesting. They'll play the Steelers twice. They got to play the Bengals again in two weeks. And so, you know, as strange as it sounds, for two of coming in last night, three and eight, like the Door is still open for the Bengals to win the AFC North. They need some help for sure, but, like, there's a way for it to happen if they, if they sweep the Ravens. The Ravens are up to seven losses then, and so the Ravens would only need to lose one more game. And the Ravens play the Steelers twice. I believe they've got the Lions in there, too. Where be like, you could easily see them losing one more game. And if the Steelers level off like now, all of a sudden, if the Bengals can run the table, that's a lot to ask. But the Bengals run the table now, all of a sudden, they could sneak in the playoffs.
Jonas Knox
I think you're absolutely correct. In fact, I feel like that's what I explained to Jonas early on in the show by. So there you go. I like your reasoning right there, A.B. let me ask you about another team that finds themselves in maybe a compromising position right now based off of what Mike Vrabel has been able to do in New England. Are the Buffalo Bills, are they plateauing or are they hitting a ceiling of sorts in terms of what we should expect and anticipate from them?
Albert Breer
Yeah, there's some interesting questions with them, Lavar. Like, I. So, like, I mean, one is like, they do need to get healthier, right? So they won't get Oliver back until the playoffs, but that's obviously a huge piece for them to lose. And they're relying on some younger guys like Walker and Sanders to pick up the slack for them on the interior of the D line, which is a big deal. Right? Like, and then not having Dalton Kincaid, that was a, that was an issue. I mean, the, the collapse of Keon Coleman, like, that hurt as well, which is part of the reason why they bring in Brandon Cooks. Yeah, I think the overarching question now becomes one at such a high level with that core that they build around Josh Allen. You know, five, six, seven years ago, when you had guys like Hyde and Poyer and Stefan Diggs and, you know, that group was able to win it.
LaVar Arrington
At a high level.
Albert Breer
And now what you've done is you've effectively replaced that group with some homegrown talent. And so you paid Rousseau, you paid Khalil Shakir, you paid James Cook, you paid Terrell Bernard, you paid Christian Benford. So, like a lot of people said is a window closing. I don't think that's it. Like, I think what it is is this group that you've paid, is it good enough? You know what I mean? Like, and was that money well spent? And I think we know how good the quarterback is, but there's a lot more to it than just the quarterback here. And so I think seeing that part of it play out is going to be the interesting thing, because they really need those guys that they pay, those guys that they've invested in to be part of the new core that replaced the first core that Josh won with to step up and, and, and be who, you know, like they thought those guys were going to be, be able to be when they paid them.
LaVar Arrington
Albert Breer joining us here on Fox Sports Radio, senior NFL reporter@the mmqb.com you can get them on X at Albert Brear. We kind of made mention of this a little bit last hour because, you know, we're watching, you know, you're going to see the Bears play later on NFC North. Things are headed in the right direction, it seems like. You see the packers and the Lions teams are still good teams. And then you got the Vikings and how, how patient are they going to be with JJ McCarthy knowing they let Sam Darnold walk, they let Daniel Jones walk, and this is the result.
Albert Breer
So, like, I, I think there are two layers to this. There's this year and then there's the future, right? So for this year, like, Max Brosmar did enough, you know, in the summer where they would, and I talked to people there who've said this, like, they would really like to see what he looks like in a regular season game. And they had no idea if that opportunity was going to present itself, but he had done enough where it was like, you know, we'd really like to see what this kid could do at some point. Right? And so there's that piece of it and, and, and that could happen. It looks like it's going to happen organically this week with, with McCarthy's concussion. Right. So, you know, if JJ is out this week, then they get a look at Max Brosmer and then, you know, the question becomes, is Brosmar a better option if he plays really well for the rest of the year? You know, and then there's a second level to it, which is, what does this mean for the future? What? Well, you know, I think a big piece of the rest of this year for them was like, we need answers on JJ McCarthy now, and we need to figure out who he is now so we can start to plan for 20, 26 and going forward. And, you know, really for them, what that's about. It's not like they want to continue to develop jj. There's a lot of stuff they Love about jj, but this isn't a rebuilding team. And I've said this to you guys since March and April, right? When they did try to bring DJ back and they did try to bring Sam. Like this is a team that's got a lot of proud veteran players that are in the primes of their career, right? Like, so like if I'm Justin Jefferson or Jordan Addison or Christian Derrissa or Jonathan Garnard or Andrew Van Ginkel, like, like I don't want to hear that. Like, you know, like we're going to spend another year figuring this out. Like, you got to have answers on the roster for those guys, right? Like this isn't a team that can just throw seasons overboard in the name of quarterback development. So like I think JJ has to earn his spot for 26 and if he plays great the rest of the year, they go in the playoffs and make some noise and he's a quarterback. If it looks like it's looked, I fully expect that they're going to bring in competition for him next year, you know, so like there's a lot on the line, I think. And again, like it's not necessarily JJ's fault but like this is the double edged sword of going to a place like this. When he was drafted, everybody was like, well that's a great spot to go. And it was, you know what I mean? It absolutely is a great spot to go with Kevin o' Connell and the receivers they have in the line, they have all that different stuff. The other edge to that sword though is that like a place like that isn't going to be as apt to wait for you. You know, it's kind of like San Francisco back a few years ago with Trey Lance. It was like that team could not wait for Trey Lance to develop. That team needed an answer and in the present and they got that answer with Brock Purdy and they move forward. So there's some similarities between this situation and where the Niners were a few years ago with Traylon.
Jonas Knox
How are, how are the internals looking at what's going on in Las Vegas? A.B. i mean that to me, you know, everybody was making a hoo, ha, hooray about Tom Brady and his ability to get information, make this, this Vegas team, Super bowl competitor. They bring in Pete Carroll, oh my goodness, everything. They got a hold of Pete Carroll's old quarterback. He rejuvenated Geno Smith's career. Where are we right now and how we're viewing the Las Vegas Raiders?
Albert Breer
Well, that information, I guess hasn't helped Him a ton.
Jonas Knox
All right. All right.
LaVar Arrington
No kidding. Yeah.
Albert Breer
I mean, I think there's some push and pull here, Lavar. I mean, obviously you got a coaching staff that was older, that had a bunch of guys that were kind of matched together, right? So, you know, like Pete Carroll had not worked before with Chip Kelly. Pete Carroll had not worked before the D.C. patrick Graham either, you know, and you know, I think a lot of this was on the coaching side put together to like how competitive can we become right now? And you know, I think for the front office there's like a little bit of a different look at this, where this was never going to be a one off season rebuild. It was always going to take longer than that. You know, like the roster they inherited needed work in just about every single way, you know, and so like, I think that's been one of those. There's been some level of tension. I mean even going back to like the trade deadline, you know, where, where they had players that they could have flipped, you know, for picks going forward. And part of not doing that was having a coaching staff that wanted to compete in the here and now. And so now you're sort of left in this in between. You fired your offensive coordinator and it's like, okay, like well, what's next? And I honestly look at it like, like this is still a multi off season rebuild. It's still going to take, you know, a couple of years to get this thing where they, where they want to bring it, where it can be a real contender for, for a championship. And you know, I think because of that there are going to be some big picture questions that are going to be asked about all kinds of areas of that operation coming out of the 2025 season. And I expect that Tom Brady is going to be a big part of that, of course, you know, as he has been but you know, know thus far, I mean it just, I guess what you're looking for is like just the little pieces of progress, right? Like that gives you something to hang your hat on going into next year. We haven't gotten a lot of those yet.
LaVar Arrington
Albert, is there any coach that is maybe potentially coaching for his job down the stretch here in the last handful of games that might be a surprise to some people, maybe the seat and.
Albert Breer
Some know, I mean, I think we all know like Mike McDaniel is going to be in that position, right, like just because we don't know who the general manager is going to be, you know, going forward. Obviously, like you already have a couple of openings, you know, The Giants and the Titans needing coaches. I'm just trying to think of, like, I mean, you know, the one that, like, people keep talking about, and I think he's a fantastic coach, but, like, you know, Todd Bowles in Tampa, like, if they were to really collapse down the stretch, like, I wonder a little bit in that. In that one, you know, because I do think, like, when you've talked about it for as many years and it's come up for as many years as it come up in as many years as it has, is that one where it's like, all right, like, you know, you know, we're building behind Baker Mayfield now, and this is a natural spot to make a change. You know, I think the one that everybody's going to bring up, the two that everybody are going to bring up, like, if the seasons go the wrong way, are going to be Baltimore and Pittsburgh. Now, I don't think those teams would ever fire those guys. Guys, but, like, there's going to be that. Well, you know, next year would be Tomlin's 20th year in Pittsburgh. Next year will be Harbaugh's 19th year in Baltimore. And so, you know, I think if. If those teams disappoint down the stretch, you know, those conversations are certainly going to happen out in the public. You know, privately, I think it would be more about, like, is this time. You know what I mean, rather than it being any sort of firing. So, you know, we'll see what happens with those. And I'm just trying to think. I know there's one that I'm forgetting right now that I'm going to kick myself for forgetting to bring up with you guys.
LaVar Arrington
McDermott. Did you mention McDermott? I know we talked about earlier.
Albert Breer
I don't get. I don't get any sense like that. Internally, they're having those discussions. However, you know, I think the. I may have. I've said this a few different times. I may have said it to you guys before. I can't remember, but I. I like. Like, I sort of look at, like, look at a little bit like Tony Dungy in Tampa. If you remember, back in the day, Tony, he did such an incredible job of.
Jonas Knox
Of building a championship team.
Albert Breer
And you guys remember. And you guys. You guys remember how terrible they were before he got that. They were. They were not just the laughing stock of the NFL. They were like one of the laughing stocks in all of sports. And Tony Dungy got there and he completely changed that place and built, you know, a historic defense with, you know, John lynch and Derek Brooks. And Warren Sapp and Ronde Harbor.
Jonas Knox
Yeah.
Albert Breer
And that, and he did such an awesome job. But they'd been knocking on the door for so long, and because they had that defense, the urgency was amped up. And then if you remember at the end of the 20, the end of the 01 season, they started flirting with Bill Parcells and almost got him and then wound up trading for Jon Gruden. And you do wonder if, like, for the same reason there was urgency in Tampa back then, because it was like, we're only going to have this defense for so long. If like eventually in Buffalo, it gets to the point with Josh Allen, now he's turning 30 in May, where it's like, all right, like, you know, we really need to find a way to maximize what we have here to chase a championship. So that would be the sort of comparison. But I, I don't think, like, not to my knowledge anyway, any of those conversations have happened yet internally.
LaVar Arrington
All right, AB Moment of truth. Moment of truth. Now is the time has arrived. Albert Breer, senior NFL reporter at the MMQB and the pride of Ohio State. Do you feel like at the end of Saturday's game in, in Ann Arbor that the Ohio State Buckeyes will have won that game by more than nine and a half points?
Albert Breer
It's down to nine and a half now, huh? People are setting it down.
LaVar Arrington
Oh, wasn't it 12? I thought it was 12.
Albert Breer
It was 12 and a half and a half at one point. Point then I think. I, I don't know. I, I, the last I heard it was ten and a half, so, yeah, it's under ten now. Yikes. I think they will. I, you know, I picked them to cover last week and they did, right, Without Carnell and without jj Yeah, I believe so, yeah. All right, so like, what the way I feel about the game right now is like, a lot of people are going to be focused on our receivers and whether they play or not. I really like our defense with all the first round picks on it and that coordinator going up against a young quarterback that I think could wind up being the key to the whole thing. And so like, I, I, you know, like, I just, I don't know how Michigan's going to score on, on Ohio. Ohio State hasn't really been scored on all year, you know, so, like, is Michigan the team to break through that? I don't think so. And again, like, this is, I, I'm saying I think I'm not like pounding my chest here because I've learned my lesson. On doing that, I do respect the rivalry more than some people on the other side do.
LaVar Arrington
Wow, there you go.
Albert Breer
But I, but, but, but I, but I, but I would say like, that to me is the key is like, if this Patricia defense is keeping them to 10 or 13 or 14 or 17 points, points, like, I, I, I don't know how you keep the Ohio state offense under 20.
LaVar Arrington
And, and also, you know, Matt Patricia's probably got a red ass going back to Michigan. He probably, he's got a point to prove.
Albert Breer
Yeah.
Jonas Knox
Yeah.
Albert Breer
Well, there might be some things planned. I mean, I, this will be interesting too. Yeah, I, I think that, that group, that, that Ohio State group, I will say this, that Ohio State defensive group loves Matt and I think they understand where, where, where this game is being played and what it might mean to Matt to be able to pull that off. And so, yeah, I think there's that element of it too. I, I, I don't know. I was so confident last year and there was like, because before that, like the three years before that, like, Michigan had really good teams. I don't think they were the better team in every one of those three years, but like, they had, you know, however it may have happened, got themselves up to our level for a temporary period of time and this one, but last year was not last year was last year. Last year, I would say, changed Ryan Day in a way that I think is going to show up on set.
LaVar Arrington
Nice.
Albert Breer
Yeah, that part of it plays out. What do you guys think?
LaVar Arrington
I would, I would lean in your direction. I just wanted to come down to the wire, though. Like, I want it to come down to the wire. If I had to bet, I bet Ohio State, I, but I don't have, I don't have a, I don't have an interest either way. I just want to see entertaining finish.
Albert Breer
I mean, look, look, last week, last year I was in that parking lot. It was like five degrees. I had, I flew in the morning of, I was like shot out of a cannon, like, you know, seven, eight beers deep by like 10:30am Coming off the plane. And I remember saying to my buddy Gillen, I was, we were in the parking lot and I was like, I was like, I like everybody buys tickets to these games wanting to see a classic. I'm like, f that I don't want to see a classic. I want this, I want this to be the worst blowout they've ever seen. I want that stadium to be a party after the game. And again, like, I've learned some lessons. I don't care if the wins by one or 50, just get it done.
LaVar Arrington
Well AB it's going to be fun and we appreciate you joining us. As always, we're up against it, but the great Albert Breer here with us on the Dan Patrick Show. Let's do it again next week.
Albert Breer

I, I just, I, I want to see and I want it because, you know, if it gets down to the wire, the nerves with Ohio State are going to start to kick in because then all of a sudden all the whispers, all the conversations, all like, if it gets down to the wire and they're trailing by a couple of points or if it's tied, all of that, I would think sides with Michigan, especially being at home.
