Do we really need another podcast with a condescending finance bro trying to tell us how to spend our own money? No, thank you. Instead, check out Brown Ambition. Each week I, your host, Mandy Money, gives you real talk, real advice with a heavy dose of I feel useless. Like on Fridays when I take your questions for the baqa. Whether you're trying to invest for your future, navigate a toxic workplace, I got you. Listen to Brown ambition on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. If you're looking for another heavy podcast about trauma, this ain't it. This is for the ones who had to survive and still show up as brilliant, loud, soft and whole. The Unwanted Sorority is where black women, femmes and gender expansive, survivors of sexual violence rewrite the rules on healing, support, and what happens after. And I'm your host and co president of this organization, Dr. Leitra Tate. Listen to the Unwanted Sorority. New episodes every Thursday on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
It's Black Business Month, and Money and wealth podcast with John Hope Bryant is tapping in. I'm breaking down how to build wealth, create opportunities, and move from surviving to thriving. It's time to talk about ownership, equity, and everything in between. Black and brown communities have historically been last in line. Let me just say this AI is moving faster than civil rights legislation ever did. Listen to Money and Wealth from the Black Effect podcast network on iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.

You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show On Fox Sports Radio, it's hour two on this Wednesday. We have a trade, an NFL trade. We'll have that for you coming up here momentarily. Good morning, if you're watching on Peacock, our streaming partner. And we say good morning to our radio affiliates around the country. Stat of the day is always brought to you by Panini America, official trading cards of the program. You can dial us up 877, 3DP. Show operator Tyler is sitting by. As expected, the Panthers have traded wide receiver Adam Thielen, conditional 2026, seventh round pick. 2027, fifth round pick. And they get Thielen and I think a draft pick in return. The Vikings do. So they get Adam Thielen and there's some conditional draft picks there. Thielen, who started his career there and he was banged up last year, I think played 10 games, had less than 50 catches, but it felt like he was a great security blanket for Bryce Young. But feeling Jordan Addison is out, I think for three games with the Vikings and Thielen will come in, step right in. And that's a big addition for them, certainly with J.J. mcCarthy. All right, Seaton, would you update the poll results and then we will dive into hour two on the program. Yeah, we actually just got a really.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Funny suggestion for another poll question, too. Have you already paid more attention to Travis Kelsey and Taylor Swift's wedding than you did your own? Yes or no?
Dan Patrick
Yes. By easily. By yes. 57 minutes, for sure. I analyzed all those pictures. Like I'm looking at those. I looked at those more than I looked at my wedding pictures. And I didn't know if Kelsey got down on one knee and there was some social media buzz. Did he get down on the wrong knee? And I don't know what engagement etiquette is. I did not get down on one knee because I have a bad knee. I mean, it's my left knee. I can't get down there. Even back then, I'd had a couple of surgeries. My wife would have had to have helped me up if I got down on one knee. But I'm guessing, is it left knee, right hand? If you're left handed, do you go right knee, left hand? Paul.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Kind of like a layup in basketball. You take off. Off your left foot for a right handed layup.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Is Travis Kelsey right handed or left handed? Because if he's left handed, he was on the correct.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Right knee.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Checking the correct knee. Correct knee, yeah. Which would have been his right knee.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Right.
Dan Patrick
As well. Okay. Yes.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Marvin, if you're getting Proposed to. I don't think they care which knee it is as long as they're getting proposed to.
Dan Patrick
Did anybody get down on one knee and your Paul did?
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Yeah, old school.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
It felt like the right thing at the time.
Dan Patrick
Okay, Todd? I did as well. Right knee with my left hand with the ring at JFK airport. And yeah, I thought that would be the right thing to do as well. Okay. You're at baggage claim at JFK in New York.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Six o' clock in the morning, red.
Dan Patrick
Eye, flight from la.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
There's a couple of people, exhausted people.
Dan Patrick
Hanging around baggage claim. And I romantically got on a knee.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
I had a PO that I read.
Dan Patrick
To her first and did the thing.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Right there at baggage claim.
Dan Patrick
What?
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Right by the carousel.
Dan Patrick
Do you have the poem? I don't have it on me, but I probably have it somewhere. I'd have to look, you know, I think I have it.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
I hope I have it.
Dan Patrick
It's probably somewhere in a box in my house, but if I will be gladly. I'll gladly bring it in if I can find it. I found a Valentine's like a chocolate box from my freshman year in high school. I was part of the homecoming, whatever, you know, you had the king and queen, they were seniors and. And I was the freshman representative with, I think, Diane Ashburn. And I got a corsage on my lapel. And I was going through my stuff and I found that it was just. And my wife goes, why do you save everything? I said, I don't know, because someday it becomes important or valuable. And I had my little corsage there with Diane Ashburn, who was a looker, I will say. But yeah, part of the homecoming. What is that court?
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Yeah, homecoming court.
Dan Patrick
Homecoming court? Yeah. A little Danny out there.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Are you over your skis with aspirin?
Dan Patrick
Oh, yes.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Yeah. Yeah, that's what I heard.
Dan Patrick
I. You know what? I was kind of cute when I was. I got to. Around my sophomore year and then things started to go south after that, I think a junior and senior. I don't know. And then college. Terrible, terrible. You know, you're six three. I was 148. It just not. I mean, it doesn't scream out, hey, come get some. Yes, Todd.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Were you able to ask people out.
Dan Patrick
To, like, to a dance or. And they just said no. You couldn't even bring yourself to. Never make the request. Never. I'd be. You know, when you go to those dances or you see them in the movie where all the guys are on one side and all the girls on the other side, that was me. But I had friends who were so confident that they would walk up to the prettiest girl, and I'd be like, damn, I could have done that. But I never did. Ever. Yes, it is funny how, like, you.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Get older, and then you realize all of the things that you cared so much about as a teenager or something, like just how unimportant all of that stuff really is. But in the moment, man, it's like, everything.
Dan Patrick
And you're trying to tell your kids that, like, hey, this isn't a big deal. Yes, it is. I go, it's in the bigger picture. It's not a big deal. Trust me. It is now. And I go, okay, all right. And my wife goes, it is now. I know it is, but I'm trying to tell them, let's move past this. Who cares? Oh, man. Glory days pass you by Throw that speedball by you Makes you look like a fool, boy Marvin, your biggest regret from high school was.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Not doing better in school.
Dan Patrick
Okay, Seaton, Biggest regret in high school.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Yeah. Probably not taking it more seriously. Like, it just came easy to me, so I didn't really try. Todd.
Dan Patrick
Not a specific person, but there were a number of attractive girls that I wish I would have had more confidence to ask out and spent less time, like, studying the periodic table, the elements, and things like that, and got more social with the ladies.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Paulie, I never thought for a second about doing better in school until Marvin just said it. I still don't think so. I had my hair parted down the middle for the first two years of high school. Big regret that set me back, I would say, not making more of an effort with a handful of girls where I probably could have dated them.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I had a lot of regrets, but I would. I'd say not applying myself because my mom kept saying, danny, why don't you apply yourself? I go, mom, I'm going to be a sportscaster. I don't care about any of this other stuff. Well, you have to graduate. I go, yeah, I'll graduate. Cease. Get degrees. Mom. Yes, Marvin.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Well, to Paulie's point, the only thing was, towards the end of high school, life was good. And it was very much my mother, Marvin, Girls like guys who know how to read, graduate from high school.
Dan Patrick
Marv, that's simple. I mean, that's not really asking you to do too much. Just read. Learn how to read. All right.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
I'm glad that doesn't keep you up at night.
Dan Patrick
No, the high school days, the college days. College days, yes. Yeah, college Days it does, because I. It's like I had. And no guidance from my parents. The fact that, you know, when parents now, like, they want to help you with your sat, they want to help you with your essay, like, everything. My parents didn't know anything. They were just. There were six kids. They were like, checking. Checking us off, you know, the list here. Like, all right, let's check on Dan. Is he going to college? Okay. He's going to Kai. And let's move on to Dave. Let's move on to Annie and move on to Molly. Oh, let's check back in with Mike. You know, like, you're just the stuff we did. And I never, ever, ever had my parents say, like, what are you doing with your life? Never. Yeah.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Paulie, I think a do over after knowing you a long time that you may want. I think if you had to do over, you would have picked a different school to take your basketball.
Dan Patrick
Yes, absolutely.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
I've heard you say it.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Have more of an opportunity. Wherever it went.
Dan Patrick
I should have gone to a smaller school, gotten to play right away and got that out of my system. And that was a big mistake. On. But my dad never said anything. He was like, where are you going to go? And I go, well, I'm better than that guy. And that guy's playing at Eastern Kentucky, so I'm going to go to Eastern Kentucky. He goes, okay. And that was it. I had a brother who played football at South Dakota. We didn't know anything about that, but they offered him scholarship. He went out there. We're like, okay. Another brother played football at a small school. Another brother who played basketball in Florida. But we didn't. We didn't discuss any of this stuff. It was like, all right, what'd you decide? I don't know. Going to Central Florida to play basketball. Okay. Yes. Marvin, if you were in high school.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Right now, put dan Patrick in 2025. Where are you playing college basketball? As the player you were in high school, where are you playing?
Dan Patrick
I would have had three hats in front of me and I would have held a press conference. By the way, speaking of shooting, I get a phone call last night. It's 2:54, my time in the morning. And I. I would say guess, but I. I'd have to give you hints. And it has to do with shooting. It has to do with a shooting performance. Dan Marley, Thunder. Dan Marley, who lost the shooting contest to me when he was still in the NBA, the three point shooting contest. He calls me at 2:54, my time in the Morning to say, hey, greatest shooter. It's. It's Dan Marley. Just checking in, see if you're okay. That's nice. It was. I don't know if he remembers that he called me, but at 2:54 in the morning. And you shouldn't get those calls now. Granted, my phone's on silent, but my wife goes, who's calling you? I go, I have no idea. And then I say, oh, it's. It's Dan Marley. And she goes, who is Dan Marley? I said, and then, you know, it's 2:55 in the morning, and I'm explaining that it was a shooting contest and he's a former player and why is he calling you? I go, I think he'd been drinking. Huh. I'm gonna gas. Go back to sleep. Yes.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Paul Phoenix is currently in the mountain time zone, so it'll only be two hours earlier.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Helps a little bit. Kind of ish. Yes. All right, let me see. Cut down day. No big name Spencer Rattler named the Saints starting quarterback. I wasn't surprised. Taylor Shuck, who's the, you know, the quarterback they drafted, who, you know, comes in, you know, he had high praise, is maybe the best quarterback, you know, in that grouping after the first round. And I think you got to start out with Spencer Rattler. And then if you go to, you know, when you go to Taylor Shuck, and who knows, they might be in the market for a starting quarterback next year, because I don't think they're going to be that good. And Spencer Rattler. Spencer Rattler was a thing in high school. Holy smokes out of Arizona. Who was the basketball player who played at U of A. He was a big thing, too. Manion.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Oh, Nico Manion.
Dan Patrick
Nico Manion.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
He.
Dan Patrick
They were on the same team.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Yes.
Dan Patrick
He was a big thing in high. I remember watching his videos and his dad was Pace Manion, who played in the NBA, played in Europe. And I just remember Spencer Rattler and then going to Oklahoma. And then didn't he lose his job to Caleb Williams?
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
I think he was in that era. And then he had to go down to South Carolina, although he played pretty.
Dan Patrick
Well at South Carolina. I just remember when Caleb Williams came in and I go, oh, my God, that guy's got to start. It was. It was one of those where you're going, how could they start that guy when that guy is that good? Because Caleb Williams came in and he was a thing right away. Yes, Marvin.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
The first thing I thought of was Kelly Bryant when he was at Clemson.
Dan Patrick
And Trevor Lawrence Came in, you're like.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Oh, Kelly, you got to go somewhere else.
Dan Patrick
Kelly, how about Missouri? Would you like to go to Missouri there? Yeah. Paul, any chance.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Let me phrase this right. The New Orleans Saints aren't putting their best foot forward to win this year for the bigger picture at the end of this year or next year, I.
Dan Patrick
Don'T think they're putting their best foot forward because they don't have a best foot to put forward. Tyler Shucks a rookie who's 25, and Spencer Rattler is a capable quarterback. But if. If you're tanking to get Arch Manning, we don't even know if he's coming out. You know, that's, you know, where the Cleveland Browns, boy, they're. They're in a tank so they can get Arch Manning. I'm like, okay, there's going to be competition for you tanking here. What if the Giants have the number one pick in the draft and Arch Manning was available and you got Jackson dart? I love those kind of scenarios, you know, looking for content. Let's see a couple of phone calls in here. Jake in Buffalo. Hi, Jake. What's on your mind today?
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Hey, dan, on the McDermott hot seat that you brought up in the first hour, I Unfortunately think that McDermott's one of the safest coaches in the league. The Pulas also own the Sabres, and they are currently on their ace head coach with zero playoff appearances. So I would be willing to bet that he's kind of hesitant to make that change for the Bills with not knowing what's in front of him. I think the only way the seat becomes warm is who they lose to in the playoffs. They lose to Burrow or Jackson. I think it's business as usual. I think it only starts to get warm if he loses to the Chiefs and Andy Reid for the fifth time in his coaching career.
Dan Patrick
All right, well, thank you, Jake. Appreciate that. Is Lindy Ruff still the Sabers head coach? I don't. It's so random. I remember being around Lynn. Is it Lindy Ruff who was. When he was a player?
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
He was a head coach from 97 to 2013.
Dan Patrick
Okay, okay, so he's not there.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Lindy Ruff also played there from 80 to 89.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I remember Lindy Ross. That's a weird. That's a random. That's a. That's. That's. But that's me. That's a rando. All right, so poll question before we take a break. We welcome in Nick Wright. Seaton, you updated everything, and then we got our new one.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
You know, I don't know if I did update all of them because we also have the coach that needs to win a playoff game more.
Dan Patrick
You know, most. How about we tease that? Yeah, we, we keep the audience in their car in suspense wherever they are. And then we'll come back and then we'll talk to Nick Wright from Fox Sports 1. We'll take a break. We're back after this. DAN PATRICK show. Be sure to catch the live edition of the Dan Patrick show, weekdays at 9am Eastern, 6am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Paulie (Paul Pabst)
And join me for an upcoming episode with Zach McFarlane, the creator of Family.
Dan Patrick
Guy, talking about his new Frank's new Sinatra music project.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Anyone who loves music would salivate over something like this. The biggest question for us was, what's in these boxes? There were a few unplayed gems that we had been alerted to by Charlie Pinion of Sinatra Enterprises. So we knew that certain songs like shadow of your smile, which actually is not on this record, it'll be on the next one. Seth McFarland, Don Rickles went up to Frank Sinatra and he said, listen, I'm going to be having dinner with this lovely woman tonight. You know, would you come over and say hi? And just so you know, because I feel like if she sees that I.
Dan Patrick
Know you, it's going to make me.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Look really cool and, you know, I might have a good night. During the middle of dinner, Frank walks over and says, don, hi, how are you? And Don goes, frank, please, I'm in the middle of dinner.
Dan Patrick

Dan Patrick
The pilot is having an emergency and we need someone, anyone, to land this plane.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Think you could do it? It turns out that nearly 50% of men think that they could land the plane with the help of air traffic control. And they're saying, like, okay, pull this. Until this, pull that, turn this. It's just I do my eyes closed. I'm Manny. I'm Noah. This is Devin. And on our new show, no such thing, we get to the bottom of questions left like these. Join us as we talk to the leading expert on overconfidence.
Dan Patrick
Those who lack expertise lack the expertise they need to recognize that they lack expertise.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
And then as we try the whole thing out for real. Wait, what? Oh, that's the run, right? I'm looking at this thing.

Dan Patrick
Through something like that is a traumatic experience. But it's also not the end of your life.
Dr. Leitra Tate / Mandy Money / Podcast Promos
That was my dad reminding me and so many others who need to hear it that our trauma is not our shame to carry and that we have big, bold and beautiful lives to live after what happened to us. I'm your host and co president of this organization, Dr. Lea Trittate. On my new podcast, the Unwanted Sorority, we wade through transformation to peel back healing and reveal what it actually looks like and sounds like in real time. Each week I sit down with people who've lived through harm, carried silence, and are now reshaping the systems that failed us. We're going to talk about the adultification of black girls mothering as resistance and the tools we use for healing. The Unwanted Sorority is a safe space, not a quiet space. So let's lock in. We're moving towards liberation together. Listen to the Unwanted Sorority. New episodes every Thursday on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Dan Patrick
I think I called him Lindy Ruff. Is Lindsay Ruff the former Saber head coach?
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Lindy? Correct.
Dan Patrick
Oh, okay. All right. I felt bad that maybe I mispronounced that.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
He is back with the Sabers, Dan.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Yeah, he's the head coach again.
Dan Patrick
Oh, okay. All right, Sabers talk. Thank you. They're not even talking about Sabers in Buffalo today. Yeah, a couple of phone calls here. We're waiting for Nick Wright to join us. Hard Copy in Columbus.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Hi, Hard Copy, a first time caller.
Dan Patrick
Enjoy what you guys do.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
63350.
Dan Patrick
We got a big game here.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
High Noon, Columbus, Ohio. Two new coordinators for Ohio State offensive defensive. If you were Ryan Day, would you allow Brian Hartline to call the plays or would you take the rounds for Texas the first game? Yes, Paulie, that guy speaks like syrup.
Dan Patrick
Okay, that's Hard Copy right there. Thank you. Thank you, Hard Copy. I would probably tune into my. My local Columbus radio station for that. Yes, Todd, we have a paperback in.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Seattle standing by, but I know we.
Dan Patrick
Have a guest coming up. Wow. Would you update the poll results there? And then I'll get to Nick Wright Seaton paperback. It's so funny. Which coach needs a playoff.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Needs to win a playoff game this season more Mike McDaniel, Brian Dable, Zach Taylor or other. Okay, right now Mike McDaniel has about 47% of that vote, followed by Zach Taylor, Brian Dable, just 12% of that vote.
Dan Patrick
Probably not good that we're having Mike McDaniel on and we get those results with our poll question. Well, let's bring in Nick Wright, host of First Things first on Fox Sports 1, and what's Right with Nick Wright on YouTube. Wherever you get your podcast. Which coach do you think has to have a playoff win this year?
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
A playoff win is such an interesting way to frame it because I, I just, I was thinking about it in terms of making the playoffs. If Zach Taylor doesn't make the playoffs, he's fired. Like, I don't think Mike McDaniel has to win a playoff game. I disagree with that. And it's not just because he's on in an hour. And by the way, have you ever had in a show two more physically imposing guests back to back than me, than Mike McDaniel? My God. I mean, the testost thrown in this room off the charts. Like, if the Dolphins make the playoffs, he's as safe as can be because the expectations have been lowered. You know what I mean? So I would go, I. This is going to sound insane, but I would go like John Harbaugh. They better win a playoff game. Like the. And I know that's the. He's a great coach. Sean McDermott. They need to win a playoff game. Like, it's the. Make the playoffs is the threshold to me for the coach who could be on the hot seat win a playoff game is the coach who, oh, he's totally safe. Unless, of course, this year ends in tragedy because we think we can win the Super Bowl. We don't even make it out of round one. So those are the. Those are the people I would have put on there, if I know that's a little counterintuitive, but that's how, that's how I view it.
Dan Patrick
What about more pressure to win a playoff game? Mike Tomlin or John Harbaugh?
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Tomlin. Tom Tomlin is. Yeah, that, that's another good one because he's in his own unique category where he, in a weird way, Steeler fans likely would be more okay with four and 13 bottom falls out than the seven seed, make the playoffs and get clocked by Josh Allen again. You know what I mean? Like, seriously like that. And so, yeah, I think Tomlin. Tomlin's better off missing the playoffs and breaking a streak than making the playoffs and losing in round one, which is maybe not fair, but I think that's reality.
Dan Patrick
I buried the lead. How emotional was yesterday when you found out that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Yeah, I'm very, very happy for him. I also, you know, this is, it's moments like that where I just wish we had a take czar that held people accountable. And I'm not gonna name names here, and I know you're gonna ask me to, but I won't do it. I would just like for the people who two years ago were very adamant that the relationship was a work, was publicity, stun, all of those things. Did they? Do they. Is there a moment of public shame? Is there a moment of apology? Is there a moment of, you know what I shouldn't have doubted? What is America's greatest love story for my own Twitter gain? I don't know. Like, they seem to be really into each other and it seems to be a healthy, delightful relationship. And now they're getting married. Now I know what your follow up question is going to be, which is, am I going to be invited to the wedding? To which I would say that's a very rude question to ask.
Dan Patrick
Well, because I was going to ask you who will be the maid of honor?
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
The maid of honor.
Dan Patrick
And I'm going, Selena Gomez.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
I. I gotta admit, in our years of knowing each other, I think this is the first time I've ever said this on this show. I'm not equipped to answer that question. I like Taylor Swift. I respect Taylor Swift. I know very little about Taylor Swift, so I can't. I'm not. Now who will we know who the best man's going to be? That'll be Jason.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
100% of the time. And there is something just delightful to the fact that Jason Kelsey and Taylor Swift, God willing, are going to be spending dozens of holidays together moving forward like, there is something charming about the idea that there will be a Christmas night sometime in the future where Jason Kelsey, likely wearing overalls with nothing underneath it and eggnog dripping from his beard, tries to give Taylor Swift a giant bear hug. I just like that. That feels very American and awesome to me.
Dan Patrick
They'll be crushing beers together.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Yeah, absolutely right. Absolutely right. Can I get. Can I ask you your take on someone else's theory? Because I think you'll like it. Since you brought this up. Kevin Wild's national treasure, co host of First Things First. When they first got together, he said, this just confirms my long held belief that all of life is high school. I'm like, what do you mean? And he's like, if you're Taylor Swift in high school, the only thing you.
Dan Patrick
You.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
You were the band girl.
Dan Patrick
You.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
The only. Like, you didn't get the prom queen football player boyfriend. Like, that's the one. You've accomplished everything imaginable in life, but there is this one void. Like, you didn't get to have that type of high school experience. And what initially drew her to Travis was, I get to have it now. I'm dating the star football player. I'm going to the games. And that was their initial connection. And I thought it was a brilliant take. And I want your opinion on that take. That's not mine. But now that I've said it on this platform, people be like, you know what I heard Nick Wright say, even.
Dan Patrick
Though it was Kevin, you'll get credit.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Exactly right. I gave him credit. Nobody could say I stole it, but the people will forget. I think it's the right take.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
That's why I'm glad I came up with it.
Dan Patrick
I love love. I said from the beginning and have a bet with Fritzi. I thought that they were going to get engaged. I thought that they were married. When people said, why do the. Why do they keep showing her on camera? I go blame the networks. But if you have the. Like, it doesn't make any sense that you have the biggest pop star in the world and you wouldn't show her on camera. Of course, we show Robert Kraft ten times every Sunday. Or Jerry Jones is there. So right.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Or Jack Nicholson. For our entire lives growing up, like, this is the.
Dan Patrick
The.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
There are the threshold to get cutaways during sporting events of what celebrity you need to be is certainly below world's most famous woman. Like, they're like, I don't know what it is, but it is the kid. Ump cracks it. So I think Taylor Swift does But.
Dan Patrick
Remember when Fox would invite like party of five is here at Yankee Stadium down the right field line. And I go, oh, they. How did that happen?
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
All right, this feels, you know, this feels like a shot because I don't know if you watched last year's World Series, but in the party of five seats was Nick Wright in First Things First. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Now some will say, wow, how times have changed. I would say we're right on track, boys. Yeah, I do remember that.
Dan Patrick
We're talking to Nick Wright, host of First Things first on Fox Sports 1. How did the Chiefs not make the Super Bowl?
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Oh, God. Act of God. I, you know, there's obviously one thing that could wreck their season entirely, but I'm not going to say that out loud, not going to even speak that into the universe, but they're the best team in the league. They're certainly the best team in the afc. And Dan, I realized the tell a sports media tell. You're going to love this. I know you're going to love this because it's been very trendy this offseason. This is not a straw man. This isn't Nick looking, you know, scouring the Internet for Chiefs doubt it's been there in large supply and that the Ravens got better. They're clearly the best roster. The Bills, you know, have ascended and the Chiefs, you know, is the window not closed but closing. And oh my God, has anyone seen how Bo Nicks plays against backups? Holy moly. The AFC west is in jeopardy. That has been, that take has been everywhere all offseason. And then Micah Parsons maybe comes available and all those same people with that, the Chiefs are vulnerable. The Chiefs aren't the best. You know what their take on Micah is? Man, Buffalo or Baltimore needs to make the phone call. It's like, hold on a second. No, you know what no one has said if the Chiefs want a chance to get back to the super bowl, they need to trade for Micah Parsons. Everyone is saying simultaneously b block of the show Ravens and Bills are the class of the afc. A block of the next day show the Ravens and Bills need to trade for Micah Parsons to get over the hump. What's the hump, America? Who are we talking about here? Finish the thought. So the Chiefs will be fine. Jeff Simmons, Josh Simmons, pardon me, hopefully is fixed the left tackle position. I don't know if you saw it yesterday, but every single receiver from the 2022 Kansas City Chiefs when Mahomes 1 MVP set the all time record for total yards in the season one Super Bowl MVP is no longer in the NFL, and the Chiefs won with that team. They'll be able to win with this team.
Dan Patrick
I hate rankings. And I know it's good. I know it's good conversation. Good, Phil. But, you know, I go back to when ESPN said Michael Jordan's the greatest college basketball player of all time.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Well, that was. That was the worst. That's the worst ranking. That's. And I'm not. I'm not trying to take a shot at Jordan there. I know people. Yeah, that's just. That is. That is an untenable opinion. That's like. But go ahead.
Dan Patrick
Sorry. But the point is that we keep ranking these quarterbacks and, you know, is Jalen Hurts a top five? Is he a top ten? Oh, Mahomes doesn't have the stats. He shouldn't be in the time. And, And I think if you ranked playoff quarterbacks, that, to me, has more value. Now. We won't do that. But, But I would put the guys who have actually done this, the guys who have produced. When your team needs you and you're going to a championship or a Super bowl here it feels like we have two different rankings regular season, and then we would have post season, because I don't care where Jalen Hurts is ranked. I just know on that team, he's tremendous and he wins.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Yeah. So, yes, that is true. I also do think I am interested in the impossible but always fun attempt to separate player from team in a team sport concept. And I know some people find it annoying if you're like, if you put Jalen Hurts on another team, and it's like, well, he's not on another team. But I do find it somewhat instructive and at least a fun mental exercise. So I, I, in that context, I understand that. Barkley, are you the tractor? Are you the trailer piece of this? Which is really what a lot of this is. It goes back to a lot of my Brock Purdy skepticism, you know, from a couple years ago, which has been proven correct in every single step of the way. I think Jalen, I like you, value playing your best in the biggest spots. And he has played tremendously in both Super Bowls. He is clearly very tough, and he does not blink in the big moment. With that said, I, I am not. That is enough to me to elevate him. Would I rather have in a playoff game, Jalen Hurts or Lamar? I'd rather have Jalen Hurts in a playoff game. It would I rather have Jalen Hurts or Josh Allen? I'd rather have Josh Allen. Now, I know Josh hasn't been to a Super bowl, but he has, he has played so well in the postseason that you can't be like, ah, the moment gets to him. And so that to me though now, ideally, in a perfect world, you would have a quarterback with the greatest stats in the regular season and the postseason. But unfortunately, everyone can't be Chiefs fans.
Dan Patrick
If not the Eagles in the nfc, then who?
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
All right, I this now I'm not picking the Eagles in the nfc. I will answer this question. Will you ask your social media people not to put it out because you are. You're front running. First things first. Prediction week. Is that a deal? We make our big picks on Friday.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Paul, would you tell the backroom guys that we can't put this out.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
You can't put this out. And on. I'm not going to ask you on YouTube to bleep it, but this could be a live audience exclusive.
Dan Patrick
Okay, done.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
The the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Dan Patrick
Oh my goodness.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Oh my. That's. I know it's going to be hard now. Your guys in the back room are going to be like, that is gonna. That is viral. But viral bonanza. This guy. Nobody's had that. But I'm telling you, listen, we can talk the schedule, the offense, fake show. Lot of stuff, lot of stuff to like the fact that if you don't have Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes last 25 years, you win the super bowl, half the teams, more than half the teams don't even win a playoff game the next year. Only one team, Russell Wilson Seahawks have gotten back to the Super Bowl. No team has gone Back to back NFC east in 20 years since Andy Reid did it four straight times with the Eagles. Lot of things there. Lot, lot to like about the Bucks.
Dan Patrick
Okay, that's all right. You watch the Cowboys documentary.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
I've been gambling in Monaco. Dan. Sorry, I have not watched it. You just got.
Dan Patrick
Still get Netflix in Monaco.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Hey, honey, I'm about to retire to six straight months of football at all times. We're in the south of France. You go have fun. I'm going to watch Jerry Jones and emt.
Dan Patrick
Okay, wait a minute. Have you watched the Chiefs documentary?
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Kevin Wild's wife produced that. And the answer to that is also no.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
I've not watched the Chiefs documentary. Not equal opportunity.
Dan Patrick
Okay, fair enough.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
It's fair. And also too painful. Too painful. I know how the story ends. You know, one of the worst moments of my life.
Dan Patrick
Did you cry?
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
No, I didn't cry, but I'm too much I was gonna. Too far. I. I have to self censor. Did I hurt myself? Maybe. What? Did I cry?
Dan Patrick
You self harmed yourself again.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
That's why I said self edit. I see you grabbing the paper, which means our interview is almost over, but. So I have to do something real quick because you and I are. I, I. I owe you a dinner. Yes, we have. We've been missing each other. You know where we should do it? Hold on. Let me hold this up to the camera. It's a bit of a trip for you. You see the.
Dan Patrick
See what that says 1587 prime.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Yeah. Did you get your invite to the opening? Who's number 15? Patrick, Travis. Kelsey, Come on. New steakhouse in Kansas City, buddy Could go to the opening together. You can be my plus one. How about that? What if I get to say how's. Why is Dan Patrick here? He's Nick Wright's plus one.
Dan Patrick
What a dream.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
What a dream.
Dan Patrick
And that's what it'll be. Just a dream.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Okay.
Dan Patrick
Just a dream. But nice. Thank you for the invitation.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
You want to go with me to U.S. open? I'm going tonight.
Dan Patrick
No.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Okay, fine. Is it bad form? I'm wearing my Wimbledon shirt to the US Open. All right. I know you're trying to go.
Dan Patrick
I like it. That's fine. Where would you want to wear?
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Okay. Thanks, buddy.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. I mean, you're always dressed up on. On your show.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Well, yeah, we wear suits.
Dan Patrick
No, it's nice.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
You guys wear quarter zips.
Dan Patrick
Well, this is a radio show that's on tv.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Oh, really?
Dan Patrick
You're a TV show on tv.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
You guys aren't on TV anymore.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but we are a radio show.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Well, you know, dress for the job you want.
Dan Patrick
That's what it is. Well, when you get dressed up and you hand out the super bowl trophy, then you let me know. I knew you were gonna say that. 100 million people watching what I wore.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Million people watch.
Dan Patrick
Yes. 100 million people. Four times.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Four.
Dan Patrick
Four times handed out. Super Bowl.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Yeah. And then you did the Olympics.
Dan Patrick
That's 400 million. And then the Olympics thrown in there. I don't need to be dressing up.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
What do you wear to the Emmys? To not go on stage.
Dan Patrick
To not win. Yeah. Same thing you wear. Okay.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
What?
Dan Patrick
Nothing. Thank you, Nick. Thank you, bud. Nick Wright, host of First Things First, Fox Sports 1, and what's Right with Nick Wright on YouTube, wherever you get your podcast. I knew he was. He was. McFarlane, the creator of Family Guy, talking about his new Frank Sinatra music project.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Anyone who loves music would salivate over something like this. The biggest question for us was, what's in these boxes? There were a few unplayed gems that we had been alerted to by Charlie Pinion of Sinatra Enterprises. So we knew that certain songs like Shadow of youf Smile, which actually is not on this record, it'll be on the next one. Seth MacFarlane Don Rickles went up to Frank Sinatra and he said, listen, I'm gonna be having dinner with this lovely woman tonight. You know, would you come over and say hi? And just so you know, because I feel like if she sees that I.
Dan Patrick
Know you, it's gonna make me look.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Really cool and, you know, I might have a good night. During the middle of dinner, Frank walks over and says, don, hi, how are you? And Don goes, frank, please, I'm in the middle of dinner.

Dan Patrick
We need to someone, anyone to land this plane.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Think you could do it? It turns out that nearly 50% of men think that they could land the plane with the help of air traffic control. And they're saying, like, okay, pull this. Until this, pull that, turn this.
Dan Patrick
It's. It's just.

Dr. Leitra Tate / Mandy Money / Podcast Promos
That was my dad reminding me and so many others who need to hear it that our trauma is not our shame to carry and that we have big, bold and beautiful lives to live after what happened to us. I'm your host and co president of this organization, Dr. Leah Tritate. On my new podcast, the Unwanted Sorority, we wade through transformation to peel back healing and reveal what it actually looks like and sounds like in real time. Each week, I sit down with people who've lived through harm, carried silence, and are now reshaping the systems that failed us. We're going to talk about the adultification of black girls mothering as resistance, and the tools we use for healing. The Unwanted Sorority is a safe space, not a quiet space. So let's lock in. We're moving towards liberation together. Listen to the Unwanted Sorority. New episodes every Thursday on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, sis. What if I could promise you you never had to listen to a condescending finance bro tell you how to manage your money again? Welcome to Brown Ambition. This is the hard part. When you pay down those credit cards, if you haven't gotten to the bottom of why you were racking up credit or turning to credit cards, you may just recreate the same problem. A year from now when you do feel like you are bleeding from these high interest rates, I would start Shopping for a debt consolidation loan, starting with your local credit union. Shopping around online, looking for some online lenders because they tend to have fewer fees and be more affordable. Listen, I am not here to judge. It is so expensive in these streets. I 100% can see how in just a few months you can have this much credit card debt. And it weighs on you. It's really easy to just like stick your head in the sand. It's nice and dark in the sand. Even if it's scary, it's not going to go away just because you're avoiding it.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)

Ohio State giving one and a half to Texas. It might be close to a pick em come kickoff time. Got games coming up on Thursday night. Then you have Saturday, Saturday night. You got Sunday, Sunday night, Monday, Monday night. Bill Belichick makes his debut for the Tar Heels. Do we have a point spread on and Bill's debut Tar Heels head coach?
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Let's see. The point spread is. You want to guess the point spread for that game?
Dan Patrick
Dad, who are they playing?
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
They have. They're hosting tcu. TCU quality team.
Dan Patrick
So this is similar. When Dion made his debut, they hosted tcu. TCU was coming off a national title game appearance. I'm gonna go North Carolina by four.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
TCU given three and a half.
Dan Patrick
Whoa. Wow. I don't know anything about TCU quality the past decade. Time to play the wedding game. When and where, how many guests. And if you want to throw in the maid of honor, Travis Kelsey, Taylor Swift. Todd, the wedding game, when and where it's going to be the day after.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
You officially retire in Cabo San Lucas.
Dan Patrick
Come on, Todd.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
I. I don't think it's gonna be for a while.
Dan Patrick
I'm gonna. I'm gonna say March 2028 in Cabo. Okay, Seaton.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
I think the maid of honor is gonna be Taylor Swift's best friend. Probably somebody none of us know. Like, somebody that she knows from, like back in high school.
Dan Patrick
It won't be Blake Lively. It's not going to be Blake Lively. I'm saying Selena Gomez.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
It's not going to be Patrick Mahomes wife.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
And I think it's going to be.
Dan Patrick
A.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Smallish affair for them, although that may still include hundreds of people.
Dan Patrick
And I think it's going to be.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
In some type of rural place in.
Dan Patrick
The United States, maybe Pennsylvania. Rural. All Right, Marvin.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
We go summer 2026 in rural Ohio. Maid of honor.
Dan Patrick
So next year at this time. Correct.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
And then maid of honor, somebody we don't know. All right, Paul, I'm going June 2026 in the state of Rhode Island. The overrunner the guests is 320.
Dan Patrick
I. They might get married in a private ceremony and then have a party. That's what I would recommend to them. And you know, if they're. Well, I know they're listening, but, you know, Travis, I'd go a little bit smaller, intimate. And then if you want to have a big blowout. Yes.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Marv, do you think Patrick Mahomes will be in the wedding party at all?
Dan Patrick
Yeah, yeah. Yes, absolutely. Jordan in South Bend, Indiana. Hi, Jordan. What's on your mind? Hi, Dan.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Five nine and a half 172. I know you don't like to do it often, but hearing you flex on Nick Wright brought a lot of joy to my life. So thank you for doing that.
Dan Patrick
Thank you. Jordan can't spell Jordan without Dan. Yeah, it's always fun to give Nick and rough him up a little bit. Curtis in Illinois. Hi, Curtis. Morning, D.P.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Just calling in. I listened to the podcast and went home yesterday talking to Ben Denucci about getting cut so many times. But you missed the thing that I think everybody on that listens to your show, really wanted to, and that was the Bend Inucci career salary game.
Dan Patrick
Oh, Paulie, can you whip that up? Ben Denucci career salary game.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Of course.
Dan Patrick
Why don't we wait till the top of the hour, let you do a little homework there. Rob in Louisville. Hey, Rob, what's on your mind?
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Good morning, gents.
Dan Patrick
How are you? Good.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
So, unfortunately, member of the Dead dad's mom or club, and the Dead Moms Club. But what I was really calling about was one, if we could get a picture of Paulie with the part down the middle of his hair, that would be spectacular. Even if it's on the calendar or something. But more importantly, you all are talking about it with the wedding, and I'm concerned that the wedding is going to happen after. After the. The retirement. So we're all going to miss out on this cake.
Dan Patrick
No, no. You know, next time I have Travis on, I'm gonna say, you gotta. Gotta speed it up, though. You gotta promise before the super bowl in Atlanta and what, 2027, is that right? Yeah. 2027. 2028. 2028. Okay. All right. Before that, they'll be married before then. If they're not married, then they won't be getting married, but I'm going to say yes. They'll. They'll be getting married before then? Yes.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Maybe the question should be, will they be not married by the time you retired?
Dan Patrick
That could mean any number of things. I'd refuse to think that way. I refuse it.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
So I'm just asking the question.
Dan Patrick
I. I refuse to entertain that. It's. I love love, and I hope that they get married as soon as they. They want to, as soon as possible. I think it'll be great.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
I love love.
Dan Patrick
I do. Does she perform at her wedding reception?
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
I believe Ice Spice will be performing.
Dan Patrick
I. She likes Ice Spice.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
Yeah, they're.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, they're bros. Yeah. Two hours in the books, believe it or not. We have one more to go. We'll talk to the Dolphins head coach, Mike McDaniel, more of your phone calls as well. Fritzi Seaton, Marv Paulie, yours truly. Final hour on this Wednesday, right after this. Hi, I'm Buzz Knight, the host of the Taking a Walk podcast. Whether you're trying to invest for your future, navigate a toxic workplace. I got you. Listen to Brown ambition on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcast or wherever you get your podcast.
Paulie (Paul Pabst)
It's Black Business Month and Money and wealth podcast with John Hope Bryant is tapping in. I'm breaking down how to build wealth, create opportunities and move from surviving to thriving. It's time to talk about ownership, equity and everything in between. Black and brown communities have historically been last in line. Let me just say this AI is moving faster than civil rights legislation ever did. Listen to Money and Wealth from the Black Effect podcast network on iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcast.

Nick Wright, on coaching pressure:
“Make the playoffs is the threshold to me for the coach who could be on the hot seat; win a playoff game is the coach who, oh he’s totally safe, unless this year ends in tragedy.” [26:17]

“I could have done that. But I never did. Ever.” [07:30]
Nick, describing Jason Kelce and Taylor Swift’s future holidays:
“Jason Kelsey, likely wearing overalls with nothing underneath and eggnog dripping from his beard, tries to give Taylor Swift a giant bear hug...That feels very American.” [30:02]
Nick, on Chiefs fatigue:
“Everyone is saying simultaneously…the Ravens and Bills need [Micah Parsons] to get over the hump. What’s the hump, America?...The Chiefs will be fine.” [33:33]
