You are listening to the Dan Patrick show on Fox Sports Radio Hour 2 on this Monday. Best and worst of the weekend. Your phone calls forthcoming. Jay Billis will join us, download us on how to fill out our brackets and talk about a couple other things. College basketball related if you missed Bruce Pearl in the first hour of the program, you can always go to danpatrick.com and you can catch it on the podcast 877-3-DP show operator Tyler sitting by. He'll take your phone calls. Seaton has the honors of the poll question from hour one. And what are we going to go with an hour two?
Seaton
Yeah, we have it there right now. No major snubs in the NCAA tournament is a good thing or a bad thing. Right now 89% of the audience have that as a good thing. They obviously don't work in the content business. Yes, it's a very self serving poll question. And then here's one from Paul Vanderbilt is a football school, basketball school or a school. Right now 82% of the audience have it as just a school. It is a school. Then second place is a basketball school which has twice as many votes as football school.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I would say Vandy wants to be viewed as a school, kind of like Stanford wants to be viewed as a school. But it's pretty amazing. I ran down the number of universities that didn't have a team in a bowl game, didn't have a team make the women's tournament or the men's tournament. And the number of schools are Auburn, Boston College, Florida State, Mississippi State, Rutgers and Stanford.
Caller/Guest
This is the Stat of the Day.
Dan Patrick
Stat of the Day brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of the program. Good morning. If you're watching on Peacock or NBC Sports Network, you know, when you think about it, Stanford shouldn't have everything, you know. All right. You're a great university and your football team and your basketball team didn't make the tournament. The women's team didn't make the tournament. It's okay. Auburn the football portion of that is tough to take. And then you throw in basketball, Boston College, Florida State, Mississippi State and Rutgers. You know, it feels like the athletic department is bankrupting Rutgers. If you look at all the money that they spend and they get nothing out of it. Remember Rutgers joining the Big Ten? How's that going? And you're looking at the amount of money that Rutgers has spent on athletics. And I don't think they're getting a dollar for dollar return on that. The longest active streaks making the tournament. Tom izzo, Michigan State, 28 consecutive years. Gonzaga 27. And then it goes down to Purdue, third active with 11. Alrighty. Eight, seven, seven, three DP show. We'll get to your phone calls coming up. College sports are changing in real time. We saw that, certainly the ripple effects with nil and in football, nil, you got more talent being spread out around the country and that paves the way for a story like Indiana football. But if you look at college basketball for the first time since 2008, the four number one seeds reached the final four last season. And that kind of bracket chalk is rare, but it feels like that's going to become more common because it feels like it might be top heavy again. Where you do have the Cinderella stories and March Madness is full of that, but it still feels like these are the blue bloods who were at the top of college basketball again this year. And what happens is you'll get a talented player at a mid major and then all of a sudden the team will be like, hey, why don't you come over here? We're going to pay you this amount of money. And we see this in college football as well. And I'm all for everybody getting whatever you can get. And we'll talk to Jay Billis a little bit about this. The deeper Cinderella runs. I don't know if they're going to continue. We do love that. But it feels like if you look at the odds, best odds to win the tournament, the those teams are Duke, Michigan, Arizona, Florida, Houston, Iowa State, Illinois and Yukon. For the most part, those are blue bloods. Yeah.
Paulie
Paulie, I saw a lot of these stories about NIL comparing, like what Duke spends or Kentucky spends compared to Siena or Long Island University. But with college basketball, you only need one hot shooting night.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Paulie
Like Siena, you would think could still take down Duke one out of every 20 chances. I don't know if that works in college football. The, the physicality would just remove that.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. And you're getting players who were staying longer and that's always been the mixture for a mid major to pull off a surprise that you'll get guys who have played together for three or four years and that's invaluable when it comes to March Madness. Do you take care of the ball? Can you shoot the three? They always talk about, you know, senior guard play a coach who's been there before, you know, feels like we bring up the same checklist there every March and usually is true to form. Yes, Todd.
Todd
And basketball seems to be a sport where you have that strange matchup where even if you're far inferior on one night because you have a big man or you have a certain way of playing that messes up the better team.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Yep. You're going to have that. That you take an opponent lightly or, you know, it's a neutral court, those kind of things. And you'll get a coach. And this is where the coaches are worth their value when you get to these moments, being able to win a game. And I always look at the best coach. Best coaching is the Thursday, Saturday or Friday to Sunday. So the Saturday, Sunday games, after you've won your first game, you know, you're trying to prepare a little more quickly than you would. You have a little bit of lead up to that first game that you have, and you're going to play a better opponent in that second round. All right, Seaton, do we have a poll question for hour two?
Seaton
We do. We do have one people pointing out, by the way, Vanderbilt is a baseball school.
Dan Patrick
Oh.
Seaton
Constantly elite in baseball.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Seaton
I hadn't really thought of. Whose acting career would you want? Tom Cruise or Sean Penn? Right now that's a 50, 50 call.
Dan Patrick
How dang?
Seaton
50, 50 right down the middle.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. I think I'd take Tom Cruise's acting career.
Seaton
Would you?
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Yeah.
Seaton
There's something cool though, about when you're somebody like Sean Penn or even Daniel Day Lewis, who we've been talking about when you're sort of always retired. But then you come out for one movie. I'm gonna come. I'm gonna do this one because this one's actually that good. It sort of elevates how great you think the movie is once you find out, dang this. Daniel Day Lewis is going to do it. Sean Penn's going to do it. This must be a really good movie.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. But I would probably use the comparison of Tom Cruise and Harrison Ford because those are box office. Those are big guys. Sean Penn's not carrying a movie. Tom Cruz is Harrison Ford Is Daniel Day Lewis carry a movie I mean, there aren't that many guys that you can say, he's going to carry this movie. Yeah. Pulling.
Paulie
Sean Penn's got a lot of variety. Going back to Fast times at Ridgemont High, Carlito's Way, Dead Man Walking. Got a lot of pub for that Milk. Mystic River.
Dan Patrick
There's.
Paulie
There's a dozen others.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but he's famous for marrying Madonna. Bonus gun, Sweaty. Really peak Madonna.
Paulie
Oh, that's a negative.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Paulie
Scratch it off my list.
Dan Patrick
Yes, Marvin.
Todd
Well, if you're in under a certain age, I just knew him from being a great actor. I didn't know he was married to Madonna until you guys said it maybe a year ago. Yeah, I had no idea. So I think generational. That might be a generational divide right there.
Dan Patrick
All right.
Todd
Because I was like, oh, he's married to Madonna. Okay, good for him. 80s Madonna, too.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Like a virgin.
Todd
Material Girl. Not anymore.
Dan Patrick
Easy Too soon. Yeah. I remember being in New York and we went to a place called Dance a Terrier. And, yeah, I was dancing. So my wife. My wife worked on the assignment desk at cnn. And we would get, you know, free passes to go to certain clubs, and we didn't make any money. But she'd always say, hey, I'm with cnn. They thought that we were bringing a camera crew and they're getting publicity. And I remember that she was. Madonna was just kind of starting. And I remember somebody saying, Madonna is like. It was five floors of dancing. And they talked about that Madonna was there. And that's the first time I ever heard that. Oh, okay. This is going to be a big deal. Fast forward like a year later, maybe two years. And we were. CNN was across from the Garden. And I remember all of these girls were dressed as Madonna and they're all, you know, all over the. Outside the Garden. And then I realized Madonna was playing Madison Square Garden. And then you realize she's a big deal. Big deal. So I, of course, got dressed up like Madonna and then I went to the show.
Paulie
What a mesh.
Dan Patrick
Yes.
Seaton
Did you put the little mole on your upper lip?
Dan Patrick
I guess I did the whole thing. Yeah.
Seaton
Yeah. Red lips, little molecular.
Dan Patrick
But remember Desperately Seeking Susan? Rosanna or Cat? Are you kidding? Rosanna or Cat, though, I thought was like, I was tuning in to see her. Yeah, but Madonna was great. Madonna. Madonna could act a little bit there, but yeah, Rosanna Arquette, she. She had a moment there. When they write songs about you, you know, that's pretty good. When Peter Gabriel's writing a song about you. The Light, the heat, Your eyes. I am complete. Your eyes.
Paulie
Yours is like a spoken word tour.
Dan Patrick
I'm. I'm like Leonard Cohen, you know, when I. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Yes.
Todd
Todd, that was a great song from say Anything with John Cusack.
Dan Patrick
Yes, it was.
Jay Bilas
Love that.
Dan Patrick
Yes, it was. But they had to. They had to get clearance from Peter Gabriel to allow them to use that song. And John Cusack wasn't sold on that song that. He's holding up his beatbox there and. Great scene, Great scene. When they talk about John Cusack's best scenes. Lloyd Dobler. I mean, come on.
Paulie
Distant the Malibu Kickboxing.
Dan Patrick
Kickboxing. Cody in Wisconsin leads us off. Good morning, Cody. What's on your mind?
Caller/Guest
Hey, how's it going, Dan? 5:10, 1:80. I. I just have a couple pile of the face bets. One specifically for Paulie. I will challenge him saying that brewers win the division over his Cubs. And my second one for anybody wanting it is that the Saints will win their division.
Dan Patrick
Well, I wouldn't rule out anybody in the NFC South, Paulie, I don't know if you want the Cubs over the Brewer. Well, you can. You get the whole division. He's saying the brewers win the division.
Paulie
Yeah, I will take. Actually take the Cubs straight up in that bet. I want to take the rest.
Dan Patrick
Okay. All right.
Paulie
That's fine.
Todd
All right.
Dan Patrick
You got a bet there, by the way. I got a hot dog, 10 o'. Clock.
Todd
Respect.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, you know what? The back room guys, Dylan's always whipping up tater tots or something. And I don't know, it just. I walked by and I go, we got the hot dog roller in there. And I said, yep, put a couple of dogs on there. Yeah, Paul.
Paulie
Places with no food time rules. Airports, Las Vegas, our studio.
Dan Patrick
That's true. Yeah. Yeah.
Seaton
See, just wondering if we should be concerned about your general health. Why at some point, if Dylan's encouraging you to eat hot dogs at, you know, 9:45 every day.
Dan Patrick
Just.
Seaton
Just throwing that out there.
Dan Patrick
Might be too late. Might be too late to worry about my.
Seaton
Okay, well, I just wanted to throw that out there.
Dan Patrick
Chris in Syracuse. Good morning, Chris.
Caller/Guest
Hey, thanks, Dan. Got a couple quick best of worse than a comment on Bruce Pearl. Best to the Lakers. Austin Reeves with the perfect miss at the perfect time. And also a best to the abundance of great coaches in the east region. Yeah. John Shire and his Duke Blue Devils have a tough road to the final four and a half and a worst hearing that Darren Peterson of Kansas is dealing what sounds like a pretty serious medical issue. The media has been really calling him out this year, but to be fair to them, they weren't made privy to his medical problems. I just feel bad that Darren Peterson had to deal with that criticism as well as health problems. And when you're only 19 and all of a sudden you have to deal with a serious health issue, that can affect your actions and attitude in a lot of different ways. And, Dan, I know Bruce Pearl is Jewish, but I wonder if his Jewish comment about turning down $30 million will catch a little blowback today.
Dan Patrick
He's not apologizing, that's for sure.
Todd
Yes, Todd, I almost jumped in in the middle of that. How could you? How could you, as a Jewish person with $30 million? What are you doing? Just take it to take the wife's advice. He made a very good point, like, you know, play it out, and even if you don't have a great year, you know, you still get 10 million and there's buyouts and stuff. Why leave it all on the table? Any religion.
Dan Patrick
Gus in LA. Hi, Gus.
Caller/Guest
Good morning, Mr. Patrick. Hope you and the boys had a great weekend. That time of the year, boss. Finally it's over. I get the rest for the next week. Oh, best of the week.
Dan Patrick
Wait, wait. How was the hotel last night?
Caller/Guest
Last night? Jumping. Saturday night was a big night. Had a big party there. Everybody was there, man. I mean, everybody. I. I accidentally. Almost like, I thought I was gonna have to quit and disappear forever. I bumped into. And I'm only. I mean, I never name drop, but like this one, I got it. I bumped into Mick Jagger, like, physically bumped into him, and he's, you know, even though he's rocking, he's still frail. Like, you feel the bone when you bump into him and, like, you see him, like, go up better. I'm like, oh, my God. Yo, sorry, that. You good, you good? And he was just like, oh, man, I'm good. I'm great. Let's go. And I'm like, all right. Jesus Christ, get me away from this, man. I'm gonna break them.
Dan Patrick
Were you bodyguarding?
Caller/Guest
No, no, no, no, no. I mean, like, I was just there, like, oversee it, make sure everything went well, went smooth. I wasn't protecting anybody, but I was just making sure everything went smooth. But I was walking through the party and I was. I happened to look at Megan Fox a little too long, and that's when I walked in the mistake.
Dan Patrick
How does Megan Fox look in person?
Caller/Guest
Imagine, like, just how you would imagine. She's looking first. And I mean, like, it is. It's it's truly scary. You know, people talk about, oh, they're not really human. It's a shapeshifter. She's the only woman on earth that I'm like, that could actually be. I mean, like, I'm like, I'm telling you, I almost injured an 80 year old man just looking at her.
Dan Patrick
And yeah, the nicest way, man. Hold on. The nicest person that you've ever been around in your job, Celebrity.
Caller/Guest
The nicest person, if I'm talking about actor, actually, believe it or not, he gets a bad rep. This was years ago. This was years ago. This is like more than 10 years ago. He had a bad rep at one point, but Clint Eastwood was, he treated me like, like a grandfather. Like, he was so nice to me, but he had such a bad reputation that nobody ever believed me. But, but, but Clint Eastwood was one of those where, where it's like, you know, like he would just come around and he would just, just like walk up to me and I would like kind of like look around and be like, is this a gag? Like, dude, like, I hear bad stories about how you're rude to people for no reason, but yet he would come up to me and just be like, hey, how you doing? How's the family? And I'm fine.
Dan Patrick
Good. Yours?
Caller/Guest
I mean, like, you hear things in the stories like, hey, how's your family? Everybody all right? And yeah, he was, he was one of the nicest, truly. Like, like pleasantly surprised.
Dan Patrick
All right. Your best and worst of the weekend.
Caller/Guest
Best was. I mean, my Lakers doing it. That was great to see. They got a rough six game stretch coming up. Hopefully they do. Well, worst of the weekend happened last night. And this one, I, I got a name dropped because it's sports related there. I'm there at the hotel and all of a sudden in walks in Joe Burrow and Justin Jefferson and they're there talking and they happen to stop right in front of me. I'm six foot one. These guys made me feel five foot one. And I'm like, can you guys like inside of my mind, I'm like, can you move your conversation? They literally shot right in front of me to talk and I'm like, I don't like this. You guys are like literally towering over me at this moment. Move away from me. Get away from me. But like, but because like people were like looking at me and then like, like the rest of the night. You should have seen these tall guys come by, Gus, and they like made them look like a kid. Oh my God.
Dan Patrick
Well, you survived another one. Thank you, Gus. We'll take a break. Jake Billis will join us next year on the Dan Patrick Show. But what happened to Clayton? After the show made even bigger headlines. It began as a one night stand and ended in a courtroom with Clayton at the center of a very strange paternity scandal.

The groundwork is being laid. The NBA will hold a vote at the Board of Governors meetings March 24th and 25th. They are exploring adding expansion teams in Las Vegas and Seattle. And they would be targeted for play 2028, 2029 season per Shams. Okay, I've been waiting for it. I don't think it's a secret to anybody. But that's good that now we have a time frame here for that. Las Vegas and Seattle. All right. We will give you our best and worst of the weekend coming up, he's Jay Billis of the Mothership, who is stuck at a Nashville. At the Nashville airport, joins us on the program. How many people are asking you for tips on how to fill out their brackets?
Jay Bilas
Just a couple. It hasn't been too bad. It's early, so I'm sure I'll get more.
Dan Patrick
Okay, but do you have a standard response when people go, hey, I need some help?
Jay Bilas
Yeah, tell them to tune into the show. I gave him on the show.
Dan Patrick
You got any problems with. Let's start at the top four seeds. You good?
Jay Bilas
No, that was an easy call. I think, you know, there might have been a little bit of discussion maybe a week ago about does UConn get the number one seed? But once they lost St. John's I think it was Florida, without question.
Dan Patrick
How many teams can win?
Jay Bilas
I think there are probably seven, maybe that can win. Reaching a Final Four, as you know, is a lot different. You know, you win four games, something happens in your bracket, but once you get to the Final Four, that's a different animal. So I think the list of teams that can reach a Final Four is a long one, but the list that can win it, I think think is. Is a lot shorter.
Dan Patrick
But.
Jay Bilas
But this is a different year than last year. You know, last year we led into Selection Sunday going, okay, I. I mean, there's a list of four teams that can win it. And when many of us, myself included, picked all four number one seeds to make the Final Four, you know, we got criticized. Like, come on, man, you guys are going chalk and all that stuff. You're going, no. Like, this is different. And it's happened before. It happened 2008, the first time since seeding began. But this, this feels a lot different. I think there's going to be more disruption and more.
Dan Patrick
The difference that NIL is making in college football to college basketball today is what.
Jay Bilas
It's similar. I think we're seeing across the power conferences. The talent is spread out more. You can't stockpile like you used to. I don't think there's enough data to make a conclusion on what's going on with the lower conferences. You know, coaches complain a lot, and I get why they complain. But the smaller conferences, when a player does really well, that player is likely to go to a bigger stage. But tell me how that's bad. Like, the coaches go to a bigger stage, they go to the NCAA tournament for Miami of Ohio, and they leave for a bigger job. So you expect the players not to have the same ambitions. I Actually think the portal works really well there. I don't know about you, but you know, I had heard of Dalton connect and seen him play at Northern Colorado, but I only saw him play because I was, I was looking at another NBA prospect he was playing against. And so was he required because he was under recruited out of high school to stay at Northern Colorado because it makes all the pearl clutching college people feel better. It's stupid. And you know, I don't think it's a loyalty issue like were we loyal, you know, guys like you and me at our age, were we loyal or did we just have no choice? I think it's more the latter than the former.
Dan Patrick
But I'm not surprised when I hear this guy started at this college and then he went to this college and now he's at this college. Would you limit the number of times you could transfer?
Jay Bilas
I would limit it by contract. So what you would do is sign a player to a multi year contract and put significant buyouts in it. So the choice there is, does the player sign away that right in an arm's length bargaining position and maybe you take more money to stay or less money to have the option to leave after a certain period of time. But it's got to be negotiated. And if you wanted to do something different, you do it by collective. You know, people often say to me, well, there's a salary cap in the NBA, well, yeah, the players agree to it and it's for the betterment of the whole, but the players are part of it. There's choice involved. We've lived in a system, at least people of our age lived in a system where it was unilaterally imposed on the players. And you know, that that's, that was never right, it was never legal. And now that it's been ruled illegal by the Supreme Court, you know, people have gotten a little more rational about it.
Dan Patrick
Talking to Jay Bilis of the Mothership, we were talking about Rick Patino earlier today. His ability to evolve or change. I mean, you go back to, you know, when he started embracing the three when he was at Providence and you know, Louisville and Kentucky and Iona over in Greece. I mean, most of the guys his age have bowed out because they don't want to deal with all of this. Like, how do you explain Patino?
Jay Bilas
I think first and foremost he's just a basketball junkie. Like he has to have the game and he's one of the best teachers that has ever lived. I put Hubie Brown up there in that category of understanding and teaching. The game. And I just don't think he can imagine a life without it. You know, I know he plays golf and he has other interests. You know, you've been the horse field and stuff like that. But he's not willing to, to go do that full time and just sort of enjoy the later stages of life. He still wants to be in the, in the fray. And I, I really like that. I mean, you know, can you imagine Dan, when we were younger? Like, I grew up in LA in the shadow of UCLA and John Wooden retired when I was like in fifth grade in 1975. He was 65 years old and I thought he was the oldest man that ever lived. And now these guys are going into their mid to late 70s and I think it's great. But man, if you're a younger coach wanting to, want to work your way up, you're going, geez, how old do I have to be to get a head coaching job that I want the

coverage of Miami of Ohio? How do you explain it?
Jay Bilas
You know, I think it's been largely fair. Like, I'm, I, I applaud Miami, Ohio being in the field, but the committee is doing something they've never done before. They've gone essentially against their principles of strength of scheduling and having to play people like, who did you play and who you beat? Like, look, Miami's really good. So I would not argue with any basketball person that says, look, I think they're one of the best teams in the at large pool and they deserve to be in. That's a, that's a fair judgment to make. But if we're going to sit here and say like the, the chairman of the committee and I'm, I'm forgetting his name and I apologize, but was talking last night saying, well, Miami went in the field before, you know, NC State or Texas or all that, but when they really scrubbed, you know, they call it scrubbing when they really scrub the resumes. Then Miami of Ohio was moved to actually the last team in the field and you're like, well, did you scrub them against the teams that you left out? Like, you know what, what's the, what's the metric here? Because if you go by kenpom.com which does all the, all the per 100 possession metrics, they're in the 90s and, and look, they, they're good, but they didn't play anybody. And I don't buy this thing about we couldn't get better games. Like, I'm not saying that, that Duke would come and play, you Those. Those things are difficult, but come on, man, you could play a better schedule. But, you know, now they're in the tournament, they're going to Dayton, and they have an opportunity to prove themselves. And I think that they're going to quit themselves really well, because they're really. They're very, very good.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Well, it's basically a home game for Miami of Ohio because. And in Dayton, you know, that's 40 minutes away. Would you have. If you were on the committee, would you have argued to keep them out with their resume?
Jay Bilas
I wouldn't have argued that, but I would have said, what are our principles here? Like, you know, we're looking at these other teams with different metrics than we're looking at this team. And look, I think it's great. Like, I think it's a great story. It. It makes everybody feel good. It's great.
Dan Patrick
And.
Jay Bilas
And so I'm in favor of them being in the tournament, but there's nothing in the committee's principles that say, hey, we got to have a feel good story here because, you know, there seems to be this feeling that the little guy kind of deserves a chance, and. And they have a chance. Everybody has the same chance. This is the fairest thing possible, that everybody, every school, every team has the same chance to get in the tournament. Win your automatic bid against your peers in a league you've chosen to be in. If you can't do that, you go in the pool with everybody else and they take the teams out first. Now, if they're one of the best teams, then take them out. I'm fine with that. But, you know, we act like the players that are at some of the teams that were left out from major conferences, that they don't have feelings, that they don't care, and that they don't want to be in the tournament. You know, and if we're going to say, hey, you know, you had plenty of chances, I'm good with that. If we say you lost too much, that's fine, but, you know, I don't know how to. Exactly how to measure. Did you play enough quality games? Because, you know, Miami Ohio played only one. One game against a quad two team. No quad one games. Everything was quad three and quad four. If. If a team out of the Atlantic 10 did that, they'd be dismissed in no time. And to me, like, I've heard people say this, if Miami of Ohio had lost just one game this year, but. Or, well, I guess they wouldn't be in that large. If they had lost to Akron and then lost in their tournament. Now they'd be out like what? That's what, that's the difference. You know, to me, that doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
Dan Patrick
Best pro prospect that we'll see in the tournament is who?
Jay Bilas
A.J. deBonsa of BYU and then Darius Acuff Jr. At Arkansas. I mean, this, this tournament is loaded with great players. Like, this draft is as good as I can remember, especially a freshman. And I've never seen a freshman class this deep of really, really good players. And there have been, there have obviously been great drafts before where the top five were just as good or something like that. But we've never had a draft like this where you go 20 deep of freshmen that are 18, 19 years old that are this good. I mean, think about this, Dan. Like, you know, on the day that, that, you know, again, the pearl clutching college basketball people were losing their minds over Charles Bediaco coming in from the G League. Charles Bediaco scored, I think 12 points that day. And we had three freshmen that went for over 40. And we were all worried about Charles Bentiaco.
Dan Patrick
I got to get a Duke question in, don't I? Am I required?
Jay Bilas
Yes, as am I.
Dan Patrick
Is that a North Carolina blue that you have on or is that a Duke blue?
Jay Bilas
No, that's a great question because I think it's important for everybody to understand this, especially North Carolina people. The color light blue was invented before the University of North Carolina was established. And I went to Rolling Hills High School in Los Angeles. Go Titans. And the colors were blue and gold. And I am a loyal, loyal supporter of my high school. Even though they changed the name of it, it is no longer Rolling Hills High School. It's now Peninsula High School. Because our arch rival Palace Verdes, we smelled dead fish, closed down for a period. They combined the schools and they didn't want to hurt PV's feelings. And then PV opened up again. It was a conspiracy, Dan. But I think I'm still the all time leading scorer at Rolling Hills High School because the Peninsula numbers don't count.
Dan Patrick
I like that Duke should be the favorite.
Jay Bilas
Yes. But they, they got some injury issues. You know, Caleb Foster, their starting guard, had a, has a foot injury and I don't know when he's gonna be back, if he'll be back. I'm hopeful that he will for their sake. And then Patrick Gungba, their center, didn't play in the ACC tournament. They held him out with another foot issue. So if they're not 100%, that certainly limits their ceiling. But they've got the most consistent and productive player I think in the tournament in Cameron Boozer. Like the numbers he's been putting up are outrageous. For John Shire to have Cooper Flag and Cameron Boozer back to back, that's, that's pretty, pretty good recruiting.
Dan Patrick
Safe travels. We'll talk to you soon. Thank you, Jay.
Jay Bilas
Thank you, brother.
Dan Patrick
Jay Billis, if you see him at the Nashville airport, go up and say hello. Ask him some questions about your brackets. Duke beat Virginia as a second straight ACC tournament that they've won top seed in the tournament. Duke has won 11 in a row. So there's six teams bringing double digit winning streaks into the tournament. High point, high point. How are you? 14 game winning streak, Maryland, Baltimore County, UMBC 12 in a row, South Florida 11, Akron 10, McNeese 10. Stat of the day, sad of the day. Of the day, Stat of the day.
Caller/Guest
Here comes that.
Dan Patrick
What? Stat of the day.
Paulie
Yes, Paul, that was consecutive tournaments, huh?
Dan Patrick
Yes, for Duke and 11 game winning streak. But yeah, high point.
Paulie
I was looking back and I thought Kansas would be one of those teams where they never missed one. They've missed a couple.
Dan Patrick
Well, this is winning their, their second straight conference tournament, right? What do you mean with Kansas?
Paulie
Oh, no, we were talking a little bit earlier about straight tournament appearances.
Dan Patrick
Oh, well, Kansas is. What's that number? Like six or seven in a row maybe, man. Yeah, I have the numbers somewhere. Once again, I think I need to

But what happened to Clayton? After the show made even bigger headlines. It began as a one night stand and ended in a courtroom with Clayton at The center of a very strange paternity scandal.

If you are watching the show, you got to see our acting skills. When we were in San Francisco for the big game, we checked out the Relax, It's a blood test Airstream. And it's about easing all the stress around prostate cancer screening and encouraging you to take that first step. And a lot of guys avoid the screening because they think that it starts with the finger test. But. But really the first step is a simple PSA blood test that can make a real difference when it comes to early detection. And you know, sometimes people say, oh, when you're 50, you get this done like a colonoscopy? No, if you're 40 or older, talk to your doctor about your risk when it comes to getting screened so you can learn more at Relax. It's a blood test dot com. Great. Cause do it early and it's really easy. And you know, going in the Airstream and you just sit there and you relax, you get a blood test and then that's it. And then you get the results. Be ahead of the game because, you know, having friends who have died from prostate cancer, they all say the same thing. I wish I would have got screened earlier. How about best and worst of the weekend? Todd, I'm gonna start with you.
Todd
Best of the weekend. Some love for Vandy with a dominant victory in the SEC tournament semi final, taking down Florida 91.74, leaving the Gators
Jay Bilas
feeling a bit swamped.
Todd
And for worst of the weekend on the EVA selection Sunday, the Yukon Husky. Sorry, Marvin, going down 10 nothing early at Madison Square Garden in the Big East Conference championship game. Took them over four minutes, I believe, to score any points. Losing badly to Rick Patino. St. John's Red Storm, 72.52.
Dan Patrick
Seaton. Best and worst of the weekend.
Seaton
I'm gonna say my best of the weekend is Sinners doing really well at the Oscars. Ryan Coogler, it's good for him. He's a hell of a moviemaker. My worst of the weekend is that the Oscars continues to Find more and more time to do bits, which takes away time from people getting to say, like, hey, thanks to everyone who helped me. I'm not saying that the thank you speeches are the best part of the Oscars. I'm not saying that. But people should be given at least enough time to be like, hey, this is the crowning jewel of my entire life. This is my life's achievement. I don't need to be rushed off the stage to watch some goofy five minute scripted bit, you know, Marvin.

Best and worst of the Weekend By
Todd
Best of the Weekend, Luca Donch is hitting the game winner in the overtime game against the Nuggets. That was a really good one Saturday night. Worst of the weekend, Timothy Chalamet. He was the favorite to win for Marty Supreme. Came out a loser.
Dan Patrick
Hey, look like a winner, though. Did he? Yeah.
Todd
You like the suit?
Dan Patrick
Well, he was next to Kylie Jenner.
Todd
I mean, Kylie looked like a winner.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I thought she was going to go with a gold, like a Oscar gold, but that's good that she didn't. She would have been calling her shot there for Timothy Chalamet, but Michael B. Jordan ends up with the big prize. Yes.
Paulie
Paulie, is Chalamet kind of like Herschel Walker as a freshman or Adrian Peterson as a freshman for the Heisman?
Dan Patrick
Little young.
Paulie
He's got a lot more reps.
Dan Patrick
He's too young. Well, I don't know if he's too young.
Paulie
Well, a guy like him, you think has a bunch more chances to win, and that's why he may not have won this time.
Dan Patrick
Timothy. Shalom.
Paulie
The old Adrian Peterson comparison.
Dan Patrick
Timothy Chalamet or. He may not. No. Okay. He may not have Timothy Chalamet. Not of. Yeah. James in Virginia. Best and worst of the weekend. James.

Oh, thank you for taking my call, brother. Happy Monday, bp Dan. That's big time. All the time, every time. Salute the commanders, guys. Wonderful talking, man. Always listening, though. Always listening, man. Speaking of Washington, after the first week of free agency, love the moves that they made. They brought in a lot of youth and athleticism. Can't wait to see what they do in the draft. I hope I hear either Downs, Tate or Love at the number seven pick. Man pushing forward last night, that game, the energy, the atmosphere was palpable. You can feel it through the tv, the wbc, man, the usa. I felt like they got a few pauses behind the plate from the umpire, especially that last one. But you take the W. Can't wait to see what they can do and let the madness begin.
Dan Patrick
Wow.
Caller/Guest
This this March Madness to me is going to be exciting. I think 12 teams could make the final four. Only one can win it. Go blue. I love it. St. John's and Gonzaga, I think they're gonna make a run. Always great talking, gentlemen. I hope you all have a great day and a great week.
Dan Patrick
Thank you, James. Adam in Michigan. Hi, Adam. Yeah. Hey, Dan.
Caller/Guest
Thanks for taking my call.
Dan Patrick
Yep.

Best and worst. Don't really have a worse, but best. Jaden Bradley for University of Arizona. The Dagger vs. Iowa State on Friday was such a nice shot and just two things on that. I'm wondering if the hall of Very Good runs through Tucson. I think you can build a case that that's where it lays. And then also Leo, he's the goat of actors.
Dan Patrick
He's got to be.
Caller/Guest
And full question that one up. But I think Leo. Go on, take that one from me.
Dan Patrick
Thank you, Adam. Leo's not the goat, but it's too early for. For that. Although he's 50, isn't he? So maybe. I don't know. I don't look him as the goat.
Todd
Yes, Marvin, but he's got the career basically every actor would like. You're a movie star and considered a great actor simultaneously.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Todd
How many people are in that category?

I just wanted to mention you mentioned Madonna and you know, all of her movie. What do you think of a League of Their Own on peacock ground in 1992? Best movies of 1992. I can just list them out. Few Good Men, bodyguard, Home Alone 2. I mean, it just keeps going on.
Dan Patrick
Bodyguard is not a great movie, but thank you, Tim. I thought Madonna was great in League of Their Own. Yeah, she kind of played Madonna. I think Dick Tracy. Was she not a. Yeah, I don't think that was not good. I mean, I don't know. She's no Lady Gaga. Although I think Madonna had a problem with Lady Gaga. Felt like. Was she copying one of her songs? Oh. Or felt like she was imitating? I don't know. It felt like there was some. Some beef there. Mark and St. Cloud is back. Hi, Mark.
Caller/Guest
Dan, thanks for calling me back. Appreciate it. Anyway, a couple of things I want to have a best of the weekend. I'm glad the NIT keeps to roll on. I see the CBI is going to be done for this year. Worst of the weekend. St. John's hockey, St. Ben's hockey, St. Cloud State men's basketball all limited from NCAA tournament play and I have a stat of the day. March, especially this week. Most popular time for vasectomies so that none can sit out and watch all kinds of basketball given birth to the term vast madness.
Dan Patrick
All right, thank you, Mark. I will not be joining vast madness. We'll head to Hollywood. Coming up. Kevin Frazier, Michelle Turner, they of course unload from Entertainment Tonight. They'll join us. More of your phone calls as well. Everyone deserves to be connected.

This episode centers on college basketball as Selection Sunday wraps up, with a focus on March Madness, the effects of NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) on the landscape, and bracketology. Renowned analyst Jay Bilas dials in from the Nashville airport to offer bracket insights, discuss the changing shape of college basketball, and break down the selection committee's decisions. The Danettes interject with humor and banter, and callers share their “best and worst” of the sports weekend. The show mixes serious bracket dissection with classic pop culture and sports talk.
"It feels like the athletic department is bankrupting Rutgers. […] I don’t think they’re getting a dollar-for-dollar return." (05:07)
"You’ll get a talented player at a mid-major, and then all of a sudden the team will be like, ‘Hey, why don’t you come over here, we’re going to pay you this amount of money.’ And we see this in college football as well. […] I don’t know if [deep Cinderella runs] are going to continue." (06:50)
"No, that was an easy call." (27:09)
"Reaching a Final Four…is a lot different. […] But the list that can win it, I think, is a lot shorter." (27:27)
"Coaches go to a bigger stage … So you expect the players not to have the same ambitions? Actually, I think the portal works really well there." (28:24)
"Were we loyal, or did we just have no choice? I think it’s more the latter than the former." (29:25)
"Limit it by contract … put significant buyouts in it. The choice there is, does the player sign away that right…" (29:51)
"He’s just a basketball junkie … one of the best teachers that has ever lived. Hubie Brown up there in that understanding and teaching the game." (31:19)
"The committee is doing something they’ve never done before … they’ve gone essentially against their principles of strength of schedule … if Miami of Ohio had lost just one game this year, but … now they’d be out. That doesn’t make a whole lot of sense." (32:25–34:12)
"Were we loyal, or did we just have no choice? I think it’s more the latter than the former." (29:25)
"It's probably too late to worry about my health…" (15:51)
"The portal works really well… Tell me how that’s bad." (28:24)
"She’s the only woman on earth that I’m like, that could actually be… a shape-shifter." (18:42)
"He’s just a basketball junkie. Like, he has to have the game and he’s one of the best teachers that’s ever lived." (31:19)
"If we're going to sit here and say… when they really scrubbed… you're like, 'Well, did you scrub them against the teams that you left out? What's the metric here?'" (32:20)
The tone is classic Dan Patrick Show: sharp, dry-witted, with a blend of irreverence and expert analysis. Banter among the Danettes ranges from wisecracks about 80s pop icons to earnest sports analysis. Jay Bilas delivers thoughtful, sometimes contrarian views on evolving college basketball dynamics, always in a measured, conversational manner. Call-in segments keep the energy kinetic and unpredictable.
For listeners seeking analysis, laughs, and inside stories on March Madness and the changing collegiate landscape, this episode—featuring Jay Bilas—is essential.
