Cavino and Rich in for the great Dan Patrick. Two days until Christmas. Love hanging with you guys.
Rich Davis
Yeah, it's an honor. It's a pleasure to be here. An honor for sure. Steve Cavino and Rich Davis live from the mean streets of la. Hope you had a nice weekend. A Ravens Commanders Bill sort of weekend. A Paul Goldschmidt sort of weekend.
Steve Cavino
Paul.
Dan Patrick
Why?
Steve Cavino
Because he gets to wear the pinstripes?
Dan Patrick
That's right.
Steve Cavino
You know how goofy that dude's gonna look without stubble or a beard? Yeah, buddy.
Rich Davis
Actually, I wasn't. That pun. One year, 37 years old. 37 on the field.
Dan Patrick
A little old.
Rich Davis
You know what? Hold that thought.
Steve Cavino
One year. Hold that thought because I got Yankees baseball thoughts.
Rich Davis
Well, hold on for you, buddy boy. Before we get into your grievances and celebrate Festivus, I want to say rest in peace, Ricky Henderson. And I want to say that speaking of the Yankees and that move they made, more than ever, as I sit there and I debate all these offseason moves, amazing that we're even talking baseball off season during football and basketball, right? It's been a fun off season more than ever. You and your Mets. Having Juan Soto had me thinking over the weekend because I'm like, the Yankees might be winning the off season. Bellinger, Freed, Williams, Goldschmidt. You're like, wow, that forced them to actually be smarter and make some really important moves. But I'm thinking like, how little playing for the Yankees really matters to some of these big stars or playing for big market teams. It's all about the money. To the point where, yeah, we understood that it's a business for these franchises, but it's equally a business for the players. More than ever to think a player cares about wearing the pinstripes or being in Monument Park. It was so long ago for them.
Steve Cavino
I'm glad you're accepting this. Is this the new Steve Covino going into 2025?
Rich Davis
It matters to me. I'm in my 40s, right? But for these young dudes, they don't give a diddly squat about Yogi Berra.
Steve Cavino
This is a big day. You don't realize this.
Rich Davis
They don't give a diddly squat about the Yankee Clipper or the Scooter. They don't care about any of that stuff. They care about the bag, and that is it.
Steve Cavino
This is an amazing spot. Are you hearing this after?
Rich Davis
I mean, I know it's just such a business. I think it's just caught up with the players and finally caught up with me, I guess. But it was really sinking in.
Steve Cavino
It's. This is big for us. I know we're feeling it for dp, but to know Cavino as a lifelong Yankees fan, he's the type of guy that talks about the pinstripes, like, relentlessly to the point that you're coming around to these younger guys don't care.
Rich Davis
Soto didn't care. He didn't care at all, like.
Steve Cavino
And I don't think it was chasing the bag as much as his loyalty and fascination with the Yankees just wasn't there.
Rich Davis
And that probably applies to a lot of young players. I wouldn't say a Cody Bellinger, because his dad played for the Yankees, so he knows of the legacy and the importance the history. Right. And it's just not important to a lot of these dudes. Anyway, your other takeaways, things that made you go home. We'll wrap it up and we're going to air our grievances, but celebrate the journeys that bring us closer together.
Dan Patrick
Yes.
Rich Davis
With an exclusive offer on a vehicle you'll adore at the Mercedes Benz Holiday.
Steve Cavino
Love Celebration going on now through January 2nd. Learn more at nbusa.com special offers. Do we get that Dan Patrick Mercedes hookup or what?
Rich Davis
That would be sweet. All right, I got a few more takeaways. Rich.
Steve Cavino
Yeah, you. You know, you. You and I have really enjoyed the heavyweight division of boxing. What did you think of Usyk? Fury?
Rich Davis
I think my biggest takeaway is Fury's. Fury's off. If he thinks he won that fight.
Steve Cavino
He thought he won both fights.
Rich Davis
He.
Steve Cavino
He's adamant that the two losses on his record are both wins.
Rich Davis
He battled, but Usyk is superior.
Steve Cavino
You think it was the first time.
Rich Davis
That they used AI and AI judge. It didn't affect the scoring, but they used an AI judge.
Steve Cavino
Just to see. Right?
Rich Davis
Just to see. And they had two rounds for Fury. Usyk dominated the fight. But I think my takeaway is it's the end of a heavyweight era and start of a new one. And when I say end of an era, meaning the Furies, the Wilders, the Joshua's.
Steve Cavino
That was quick.
Rich Davis
It was 10 years. It was a 10 year span.
Steve Cavino
That's a quick 10 years. No, I'm saying living like.
Rich Davis
Yeah, that's. That's a long. That era is over because Oleksandr Usyk is the guy, you know, who's gonna beat him?
Steve Cavino
Late 30s, I'm saying.
Rich Davis
But he. Yeah, you're right. Fury has battled and he has that. That wear and tear on him. He's younger than Usyk, but it's the. It's the Usyk era. And when all said and done, we look back, he was the best of all of them because he fights like a middleweight, moves like a middleweight because he's not as big and clumsy as these other guys. Usyk dominant over Fury, and I think Fury's only bet because I don't think he's done by any means, but he can't beat Usyk, is maybe that Anthony Joshua fight that people waited for a long time that would be.
Steve Cavino
Watching Tyson Fury fight Anthony Joshua now is worse than waiting 10 years to see Pacquiao Mayweather like we did.
Rich Davis
Well, it's.
Steve Cavino
It's like even more past.
Rich Davis
It's watching two dudes that lost to Usyk twice. That's what I'm saying. I don't think Usyk is getting the credit that he deserves. Maybe he's a boring champion to some, but I'm telling you, he's not. There's a language barrier there, but this dude's an animal. He's a great boxer. He's actually kind of funny, and I like him a lot. You got to start paying attention to this dude if you haven't, because I don't think anybody could beat him. Oleks center, Usyk with a nice win over Fury, but that era of, like I said, Fury, Joshua Wilder. Done, done, and we're moving on. Maybe it's the Usyk Dubois era and we'll see that rematch maybe sometime soon, but a good fight over the weekend. I'll probably bring that up throughout the day because I have a lot of takeaways from the fight. I think the Steelers lost to the Ravens said a lot about the Steelers. I was like, if they could beat the Ravens, it shows they're a legitimate team. They're both 10 and 5.
Steve Cavino
I mean, they did earlier in the season, but, you know, that was.
Rich Davis
Yeah, but yeah, you saw the difference. I think this weekend you saw Russell Wilson get popped, too. He got popped over the weekend, but I thought that was a statement game, the Ravens showing they're the better team. Just like the Vikings were like, no, we're way better than the Seahawks. I'm just going over my notes here, Rich, on other takeaways.
Jason Stewart
I got a Russell Wilson thought for you guys. I'm going to run it by you because we've been in the Industry a while. I'm sure you guys have been in this position. Okay, so the Russell Wilson, Sean Payton thing last year, right? Sean Payton gets hired to. To be the head coach of the Broncos. And I think in his head he said, russell Wilson is not going to be my quarterback. And he made up that mind in his head well before he even got out to the practice field. Okay? So every little mistake that Russell Wilson made last year, I think Peyton used it against him. And remember, there was that sideline occurrence, I think, in December last year, where he just went off on Russell Wilson on the sidelines. He made it in front of the all the cameras and everything else. And my theory is this. I once produced a show for a host that didn't want me as a producer. Okay. He got hired into the show that I was producing, and from day one, he didn't want me as the producer. So every single mistake I made that the smallest of mistakes was magnified.
Rich Davis
Oh, no doubt.
Jason Stewart
I think I'm Russell Wilson in this analogy. I think Russell Wilson kind of got a raw deal because his numbers were not awful with the Broncos.
Rich Davis
They were never awful.
Jason Stewart
NFL quarterback, you're right.
Steve Cavino
It's, you know, in our industry. Jason makes a great point. You could be. We'll talk old school radio more than you know, because now it's a big podcasting world. But back in the day when, like a new program director would come into a radio station, the morning show knew, which was always the big. The morning show, right. They would know, if this guy doesn't like me or this woman doesn't like me, I'm out. And they're gonna. They're gonna, like you said, magnify everything they don't like about our show. And in the NFL, what's the show? The quarterback. And yeah, he. He was. That's a. That's a great point. Russ is a good quarterback. And I think we lost sight of that. And it's easy to pile on the way we pile on Aaron Rodgers now. Well, Russell, for a minute, it was so easy to pile on Russell Wilson.
Rich Davis
Really corny. And yeah, I was going to say he provided you with a lot of cringy ammo to go along with the narrative.
Jason Stewart
He's a weirdo, right? He's a weirdo for sure. But I think he's a good quarterback. And to me, to your point, Covino, the fact that we're even talking about are the Steelers contenders. Like, if you're a Steelers fan, you would take that back in before the season. You didn't Know what that was going to be?
Rich Davis
Without a doubt. They were in that game. But again, the Ravens. So Raven were so Raven. And pulled ahead and show that they were the team. And I have one more takeaway, Rich, that is non football related. We'll wrap up things that made you go, hmm. Unless you want to chime in again at 87799 on Fox or hit us up at Covino and Richard. So last night, late last night, early this morning, I started seeing all this talk about Kim Kardashian. I was like, all right. On the show. Now, I don't watch the show, but I do see it from time to time, right? I see it, but I'm not a fan fan of hers.
Steve Cavino
You're a fan of her job. You're a fan of her cheeks, Right? You're a fan.
Rich Davis
But I don't watch the show. If you're new to our show, I remember there was a. An episode where the family went into the studio.
Steve Cavino
Travis, you're a fan of her skims ads.
Rich Davis
I am Travis Barker's studio. And they made like a little holiday album, like with the mom. And Kim sang Santa Baby. And it was like some goofy holiday episode or whatever. And like, oh, we're making a family CD just for fun or whatever. So it turns out like a year later, 2024, they released this Santa baby as a single now. But they put a video out to it today.
Steve Cavino
Oh, right.
Rich Davis
And I saw it late last night. So there's a Santa Baby video, and you gotta see it. I think a lot of people are gonna be talking about it today. Made me say, maybe say, huh, because it's a Christmas video, right? She's crawling around like a cat, like a feline throughout the entire video. She's got a blonde wig on, and she's just crawling around singing a very sexy, sultry Santa baby.
Steve Cavino
Yeah, she looking good.
Rich Davis
And there's a lot of controversy going on around it because it all comes back to your boy that you started off the show with, Kevin McAllister. He makes a cameo. Word up. He makes a cameo. And there's a lot of, like. I mean, it's really not that deep, but people are looking deep into it, saying, oh, there's too many religious symbolism involved here. But I think she's crawling through like a holiday party, but some of the people are dressed like religious figures.
Steve Cavino
So what you're saying is all day today, you're gonna see this on social media.
Rich Davis
I don't think you're gonna be able to avoid it. But I think It's. It's worth the watch either way because she looks hot. Simple made me say, hmm.
Jason Stewart
Over the years, have you guys talked about that song Santa Baby?
Rich Davis
Well, I did. During the commercials, I asked Spot what a sable was because I had no idea, but flip a sable under the tree for Steve. It's like a fur coat.
Steve Cavino
Okay.
Rich Davis
Yeah. I didn't know how.
Jason Stewart
Just kind of out of the ordinary. That is for your typical holiday joyous song. Like, it's. It is far too seductive for kids. So I guess it's appealing to the.
Rich Davis
Should we cancel it? They canceled Baby, It's Cold Outside a few minutes ago. Hilarious. Yeah, it is a very sexy song.
Steve Cavino
Wait, hold on.
Rich Davis
Kim Kardashian.
Steve Cavino
Baby, just slip a sable under the tree for me. I've been an awfully good girl. Geez.
Rich Davis
Awfully.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Rich Davis
What is that about crawling around? So it made me say, hmm.
Steve Cavino
So you'll see that today.
Rich Davis
Yeah, but there's. Yeah, there's a lot of, like, unnecessary controversy about the video because people are like, what's this about?
Steve Cavino
What's doing here?
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Steve Cavino
Well, listen, Kavino and Rich in for Dan Patrick now. Coming up, we are going to share some real fun Ricky Henderson stories. Rest in peace. Everyone knows at least one good Ricky Henderson story. So think of yours. One you've heard, one you've read.
Rich Davis
A lot of moments. I mean, he's got a million moments.
Steve Cavino
A lot of Ricky Henderson moments live on in memes and social media. So we'll pay tribute to the late, great Ricky Henderson. There's a deep thought we have about re gifting. We'll talk more NFL. I have purdy thoughts as a Niners fan, but I do want to talk real quick. I mean, you said it before. Baseball had a huge year, ratings wise. And, you know, I think there was a lot that baseball did right this year where the NBA is losing a lot of interest. Ratings are down. I think baseball's doing it right the last 12 to 24 months.
Rich Davis
The fact that we're talking about baseball, you know, during week 16 of the NFL is insane to me as a baseball fan. Right. We just had a big fight this weekend. You got the NBA, all the controversy around the ratings and NBA. We're talking baseball.
Steve Cavino
Baseball.
Rich Davis
Walker Bueller. This is another thing I made me think of, like, loyalty. These pros ain't loyal, dude.
Steve Cavino
These pros ain't loyal.
Rich Davis
We knew the teams were right. We knew that. But to leave a championship team for the Red Sox? Give me a break.
Steve Cavino
You're just mad he's now crosstown, huh?
Rich Davis
Walker, Bueller and the Red Sox are in agreement on a one year, $21 million deal, according to Jeff Passon.
Jason Stewart
I loved Walker. I really did love Walker. It's just that he has those arm injuries and it's, there's two sides to every storage dude. I think this was maybe even more a daughter's decision. It was a Walker decision. I really do. Because he's, he's at least two, maybe even three surgeries in at this point. I love him as a competitor and he closed out the World Series, but yeah, that there's two sides to every story, huh?
Rich Davis
Amazing how he had a comeback at the end as he said he had nothing all year. I mean, listen, came back real strong.
Steve Cavino
It's like a stock, it's a crypto. It's like a relationship sometimes you got to know when to cash out. And the Dodgers, I feel like the Dodgers, you got all the juice out of that squeeze and they won a World Series. He delivered in key moments. But it's sometimes you got to say, I think we got the most out of that guy. And it is business, you know, I, my examples are far and few between because my Mets never do, you know, big things. They had a good year this year.
Rich Davis
But feels like more of a business than ever before.
Steve Cavino
Yeah, I just feel like there are times when you saw a good player get let go after what you thought was a great year. But it's like. Or did they get the most out of that guy and it's time to move on. My Mets have done away. I remember after the 86 when they won and when we were, when I was a kid, Ray Knight. The next year, you know, World Series mvp later they did it with Jose Reyes after winning a batting title. Sometimes you got to know R.A. dickey, you know, sometimes you, you see like I got the guy's best year. What are we doing here?
Jason Stewart
Well, speaking of, you know, they signed Mania overnight.
Steve Cavino
I like that, you know, I get his.
Jason Stewart
Did you get his best year last year? That was kind of one of those things. He's had a very up and down career.
Steve Cavino
He, I think, because if you're a baseball fan, you know that he changed his release point. He went from like an overhand pitcher to like a 3/4. And ever since he changed the way he pitches.
Rich Davis
Reinvented himself.
Steve Cavino
He like reinvented himself. So hopefully, I mean, I like the move as a Mets fan. Maniah signed the deal with the Mets.
Rich Davis
The moves are being made though.
Steve Cavino
But here's my question. I want to, you know, I don't want to put anyone on the spot because it just popped in my head now. But all sports, baseball, football, basketball, hockey, you name it.
Rich Davis
What about hot dog eating? It's one of the four major sports.
Steve Cavino
Yeah, hot dog eating, of course. Are you more of a Joey Chestnut guy or a Crazy Legs Conti? Kobayashi, who's your guy?
Rich Davis
Always crazy likes Conti.
Steve Cavino
I know. So has there ever been an example in your noggin where a team took a chance on a lot of very low risk, high reward guys and it worked out because right now I look, I'm a Mets fan, I live in LA now, but I grew up in Queens and Long Island. I look at your Yankees Covino, and I feel like it's going to go terribly or amazing. And I just don't know if there's an in between. Bellinger and Goldschmidt are two guys that within the last five to 10 years, they're like these like MVP hall of Fame, potential type of guys.
Rich Davis
There's a meme floating around today and it's man, if, if these guys were playing in 2017, they'd have a squad between Judge, Stanton, Bellinger and Goldschmidt.
Steve Cavino
Stanton's still in his prime, but I'm.
Rich Davis
Saying Judge, these guys are, I mean, they're all in their 30s at this point, I think. Judges, yeah, they're. Judge is not hurting by any means, But Stanton had 59 home runs in 2017. All these dudes had like 40 and above home runs in 2017.
Steve Cavino
Leave Judge out of the conversation because, you know, he's the reigning mvp. Yeah, but Giancarlo Stanton is only getting older. Paul Goldschmidt, I love the deal you guys got on him one year.
Rich Davis
Again, let's, let's keep this in mind. He's 37. Young man in life, old guy on the field, young man in life. We get that completely. But yeah, he's definitely, he's definitely questioned, questionable.
Steve Cavino
But there have been, you know, a guy that comes to mind for me that delivered later in his career, Nelson Cruz. There are guys that put up big numbers later on. But as a Mets fan, I could speak as a fan of a team that thought that they were going to go to the World Series because they got Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander and they had two, sigh, young dudes on their team and that couldn't have turned out worse.
Rich Davis
Right? Right.
Steve Cavino
I mean, by the end of the year, they're both gone. Now, luckily, the Mets got some draft picks and money for that in the end.
Rich Davis
But these low risk, high reward deals make sense to me or I'm not mad at them. I was a year.
Steve Cavino
I always thought the, I always thought the Dodgers got away with some great steals when they would do these one year deals with Kershaw.
Rich Davis
Exactly.
Steve Cavino
And I'm like what's the risk one year if it doesn't work out, you know.
Rich Davis
Right.
Steve Cavino
Are you confident you wearing your Yankees hat today?
Rich Davis
Well, we also Woke up at 5am so it takes me a good half hour to comb this Pompidou.
Steve Cavino
So of those two, Bellinger, Goldschmidt, are you excited about both or.
Rich Davis
No, I'm more concerned about. I can't say I love the Goldschmidt deal by any means, but I'm not mad at it either because it's a one year deal.
Steve Cavino
But Goldschmidt's a guy that for a long time.
Rich Davis
Which is. It's not breaking the bank for the Yankees. Yeah. So. And I don't really care. It's not my money. But no, I'm not excited about it. But I'm not mad at it either. I'm like, all right, like you said, low risk, high reward.
Steve Cavino
A guy that's making 1/5 of 1/4 of what judge is getting or these hands. It's a one year deal.
Rich Davis
Paul Gold says a few things to me. He says that Alonzo's options are low. Right. He's probably going to end up with the Mets again. It says to me the Yankees are really going to shoot for a third baseman. Some sort of power hitting third baseman. And last I heard our nado was accepting a move there. But I don't, I don't want him either.
Steve Cavino
Again you have the two you'll have. It's like when the, Remember when the Lakers had Carl Malone, was it. Did they have Gary Payton to the head like everyone.
Jason Stewart
Gary Payton and Carl Malone were all championship runs at the end.
Rich Davis
Yeah, I wouldn't want that move either. But it's now saying to me the Yankees are going to make a move.
Steve Cavino
For a third baseman in 2022. In 2022, Kavino, Paul Goldschmidt batted 317 and your dude had 35 homers. 115 ribbons.
Rich Davis
That was his MVP season though. Yeah, he was MVP not that long ago.
Steve Cavino
So he still got game couple seasons ago. So do you fall off that quick?
Rich Davis
I mean some people do.
Steve Cavino
I mean come on.
Rich Davis
Aaron Rodgers was also an MVP in 2022. So it happened.
Steve Cavino
Yeah, but your, your thoughts on that as well?
Rich Davis
Look at Tyson Fury, dude, he went.
Steve Cavino
From unbeatable to lost two in a row.
Rich Davis
Lost two in a row to Oleksandr Usyk, a guy who weighed 55 pounds less than him. So, yeah, in the world of sports, it's like that, man. But, yeah, some big moves over the weekend got us saying, hmm. But now we air our grievances, and we want you to start thinking about them today.
Steve Cavino
As you might know, December 23rd is Festivus. If you don't know the origins, take a listen. Goes back to Costanza, Festivus for the rest of us. You got it, Mary? Let's hear it. Do we not have it after the break? You know what? Let's go to Festivus next. So here's what I want you to do. I want you to think of what in the world of sports has annoyed the hell out of you over the last 12 months.
Rich Davis
You what? Talking to you about sports.
Steve Cavino
What has annoyed you the most over the last 12 months in the world of sports?
Rich Davis
You annoy me so the most. We have the same answer.
Steve Cavino
We'll air our grievances next right here on Cavino and Rich in for the great Dan Patrick.
Dan Patrick

Steve Cavino
Oh, way too sensual for Christmas boy Cavino.
Rich Davis
And for Dan Patrick, the DP Unnatural. The Dan Patrick unnatural holiday hat trick. Our four day hat trick.
Steve Cavino
You know Mike who runs this place?
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Steve Cavino
He was crawling around the hallways like Kim Kardashian in the Santa baby video.
Rich Davis
It's all the controversy today. The new Kim Kimmy cakes video for her version of Santa baby. But what is this? Is this the Madonna one that we're listening to? This is the Earth the kid.
Steve Cavino
The original singing.
Mary
No, it's not.
Rich Davis
It's Earth the kid.
Jason Stewart
They don't have it on YouTube, so.
Steve Cavino
It'S on Apple Music and on Spotify, but It's not on YouTube.
Rich Davis
I like it. Mary Mary on the ones and twos. J Stew Producing at 87799 on Fox. If you want to chime in, we welcome you most inclusive show on radio Covino and Rich. 87799 on Fox again at Covino and Rich on social media at Fox Sports Radio. You know what, Rich, before we get into your grievances, I do want to remind people to follow our podcast because normally we're on from 5 to 7 on the east, Monday through Friday, 2 to 4 out here on the west side. So follow Covino and Rich wherever you stream your podcast as Cov. Covid will probably come up first, but carry on. Cov. I N o, Covino and Rich.
Steve Cavino
That's. I never realized how much that must suck for you.
Rich Davis
I'm surprised my daughter didn't deal more with, you know, harassment.
Steve Cavino
Kids don't make fun of each other the way they used to.
Rich Davis
Right? Right. Yeah. All right, Covid.
Steve Cavino
No, Honestly, ever since 2020, you start searching our show, you have to get to the end in Covino before COVID stuff goes away.
Rich Davis
And we have a bonus podcast you could watch or listen to. It's on fox Sports Radio's YouTube page. It's a really fun watch. Give us 22 minutes, we'll give you the world. I just made that up. You like that?
Steve Cavino
I think, yeah.
Rich Davis
It's a 22 minute show, give or take. It's called Over Promised. Because this guy to my left, Rich, just loves to babble and blabber.
Steve Cavino
That's true.
Rich Davis
And he over promises things we never get to over promise with Cavino and Rich. Check it out on FOX Sports Radio's YouTube page. Thank you.
Steve Cavino
Now it is time for something that goes down every December 23rd thanks to Frank Costanza, and it's called Festivus. The point of Festivus, take a listen.
Dan Patrick
The tradition of Festivus begins with the airing of grievances.
Rich Davis
I got a lot of problems with you people. Now you're gonna hear about it.
Steve Cavino
All right, break out the Festivus poll. And here's where you let us know what the hell annoyed you over the last 12 months. In the world of sports, in the world of entertainment, music, anything. What bothered the hell out of you? In 2024, it's your turn.
Rich Davis
Aside from you and your hyperactivity, I'm a delight. J. Stu, last night, I'll tell you what bothered me. Rich calling me up last night. He often calls me with no purpose. And it's like, that's what you called me for. You could have texted me that. That makes me angry. And I want to air that grievance for the rest of us. Yeah, how about you just text me? This is why I sit there bewildered. Like, that's why he called me. Was he bored on his ride home? Is he on the bowl? That was a total text. Are you just, like, seeing if I was alive? What was the point and purpose of.
Jason Stewart
That 20 years ago? That's fine. Right, right, right. But I want to get this right. Gary Goleman's one of my Favorite comedy comedians.
Steve Cavino
Okay, I love him.
Jason Stewart
He has this bit and it's perfect. The phone is simply an app on my phone. And if you're gonna use it, it better count.
Steve Cavino
I love Gary.
Rich Davis
I love Gary. Gary Goleman. Shout out to Gary. I call him System of a Gullman now or Gullman of a Down. Have you seen him lately? It's like Serge from System of a Down. He grew out like this long goatee and everything. My grievances have to do with Rich? Actually, no. He calls me last night and he starts to mansplain what Festivus is. He's like, hey, I got a great idea for tomorrow. Tomorrow's the 23rd. He's like, how about we do Festivus and let people air their grievances in the world of sports or just life or whatever. I was like, that's great. And then he continues to explain to me what it is, as if I haven't talked to the guy for 20 years.
Steve Cavino
You're also. You're also the guy that's like, I've never really watched Seinfeld.
Rich Davis
I'm aware of pop culture references. Who has seen that or heard the reference by now? I also feel like we talk about it every year on Festivus because it's become a pop culture thing in the last few years. Every.
Steve Cavino
You guys know this doesn't have to be about what you hate about me, right?
Rich Davis
I had a pause. I'm like, first of all, this on our show, we joke about it. Yeah, I didn't mind any comments. Me to. Let's talk about what we're gonna do on DP tomorrow. That's an important conversation to me. But when he goes on explaining what Festivus is, I'm like, you mean what we've talked about for 20 years together.
Steve Cavino
And we're gonna make him cry?
Rich Davis
By the way, when Rich calls you, by the way, never have a follow up question because he'll get bored and hang up on you.
Steve Cavino
Anything else you guys hate about me?
Rich Davis
No. No. Here's the other thing with Rich. When he calls is all sense of urgency, right? But when you call him, he's nowhere to be found for like, oh, my God, what? He and your wife just disappear? So, hey, where's Rich? Together, I guess he's busy.
Jason Stewart
So anyway, my grievance, by the way, Covino, on top of your grievance, I could add the fact that he called you to talk about today's show without looping me in. Jason, if we're talking about the show, Tomorrow we might as well add the producer.
Rich Davis
You know, that would have been a smart thing to do. They talk about you, that's why. Yeah. No, no, no. But I did have a little, like, nugget.
Steve Cavino
Okay.
Rich Davis
Of something then. So I'm like, are you mansplaining to me right now as if I don't know what it is? And he's like, yeah, but I figured he goes, well, if you know what's the second part of Festivus? And I was like, I don't know. Having the poll. The Festivus poll. I didn't know the second part, so I'll give you that. Can you explain what that.
Steve Cavino
Feats of strength.
Rich Davis
Yeah. What is that exactly? Are we doing that as well? Since we're talking Festivus, can you at least explain the Seinfeld reference?
Steve Cavino
Yeah, the. The origins. It was an ep. I mean, if you want me to mansplain to dummies like you.
Rich Davis
No, the second part, though, because I remember hearing it, but I don't really know what the Feats of shame. Many years ago, I went to the store to purchase a doll for my son.
Steve Cavino
Yeah, take a listen.
Rich Davis
Many Christmases ago, I went to buy.
Dan Patrick
A doll for my son.
Rich Davis
I reached for the last one they had, but so did another man. As I rained blows upon him, I.
Dan Patrick
Realized there had to be another way.
Mary
What happened to the doll? It was destroyed.
Rich Davis
But out of that, a new holiday was born, a Festivus for the rest of us. That must have been some kind of doll.
Dan Patrick
She was.
Rich Davis
So it's air your grievances day. That I know. What are the feats of strength based on his fighting for the doll? You have to. That's really what it comes from.
Steve Cavino
Okay, so my grievances had nothing to do with you until you went at me. And now I have a million of them. Let's start with you thinking the Yankees pinstripes mean anything.
Rich Davis
They do to the fans. They do to anyone over 35.
Steve Cavino
I. My number one grievance is that I think it's funny. In fact, I think it makes you guys look lame, the fact that the Yankees still have this no facial hair rule. I see every headshot of Paul Goldschmidt. Like, a handsome late 30s guy is gonna have to look like a baby face nerd because the Yankees were like, shave your stubble. How outdated. Poor Devin Williams gonna have to come out of the bullpen with, you know, with razor burn because he has to shave before he closes out the game.
Rich Davis
First time in six years that he has to be Clean shaven. Yeah, that's kind of tough. Here's why. Here's. You know what, Rich? I agree that the Yankees have a tradition. I agree that maybe it's past. Right. Sometimes tradition is making the same mistake over and over again. And maybe in today's world, that doesn't fly. But I think there's a middle ground. Like there's a compromise. You can't come in looking like a hobo, but maybe you come in and still have long hair, just well groomed.
Steve Cavino
Yeah, I'm not saying look like a red sock from the 2000s, but like.
Rich Davis
You know, compromise a little bit. But it got me thinking, the Devin Williams situation. He hasn't shaved in six years. What if he's covering up a, a weak chin? Or maybe he does get that razor burn that some people get. For all we know, he has some frog eggs under there and he doesn't want to really expose that. Maybe that takes away from his confidence. I want this guy to feel confident on the mound. Sometimes you, you feel good. You play good. Somebody once said that.
Steve Cavino
Jerry Rice.
Rich Davis
Exactly.
Steve Cavino
It was Jerry Rice.
Rich Davis
So you know what, Rich? I, I, I believe in looking your best and presenting your best, unlike you, who wears sweatpants to work every day. Just kidding. But I do believe that it's an outdated rule, man. I do. I think they have to adjust it.
Steve Cavino
I am wearing sweatpants right now. All right, your grievances. I got one at 87799 on Fox. Yeah, what else you got?
Rich Davis
Open it up to you. Fox Sports Radio. Dan Patrick Nation, 877-99 on Fox at Covino and Rich, our boy spot here who does our videos again, Avino and Rich. And he produces our Patreon, if you want to check that out. He pointed this out and broke the glass to me, but since then, I despise it. It's the Jabroni on social media whose sole purpose is just to point at the content. It's like, what are you contributing to this video and to my life?
Steve Cavino
Get out of my face.
Rich Davis
And if you don't know what I'm talking about, it's a video about drones or a video about aliens or Aaron Rodgers. And all this ass clown is doing is pointing at someone else's content, Right? He's pointing. So I've taken upon myself to tell these people, you know, because they usually pose it with a question or something like, and what do you think? I think I'd understand more if you pointed a little more. I'm actually pointing would have done me a lot better in this video, I'm pointing at Covino as he's making this point. Yeah.
Steve Cavino
Post that video.
Rich Davis
That to me, millions of views, you're offering nothing to the world, and I want to karate kick you in the sternum. Yeah. And what annoys me is usually the pointer gets more views than the original. Really bothers me. How do you know what I'm talking about?
Jason Stewart
Ratioed. Ratioed. Yeah.
Rich Davis
Okay.
Jason Stewart
That's a huge problem on Twitter.
Rich Davis
Now that we pointed it out though, on a national scale, on a huge platform. The Dan Patrick show. Millions of people are gonna be like, you know what? I hate that guy too. Send him all the hate in the world. Tell them to get a life. Yeah, get a life. Get a life. Get your own content.
Steve Cavino
Jace, do I know one of your pet professional pointer? One of Jace Stu's pet peeves is the people that are shocked that time is moving along.
Jason Stewart
It is. It's my favorite one. And I don't even know if it's a pet peeve. Is it? It's just I like making fun of unsophisticated, unoriginal people. And if you're. If you're partaking in small talk, if you walk into an elevator with a bunch of strangers, I think it's easy just to go to those low hanging fruit small talk things. Man, it's already Christmas. Could you believe it, man, it was just Christmas yesterday.
Rich Davis
I hate those people too, because I'm not good at it. I'm allergic to small talk. But can I add a little nugget to the premise then? Man, times are flying. But my theory is this, and it really bothers me, so I'll air my grievance. I feel like after Covid the world has been on fast forward and I can't wrap my head around the schedule after Covid. I feel like we're in a time warp and something happened and time's moving way too fast. Something happened after Covid where I was never the same and my perception of time is off. Like everything pre Covid is different to me than after Covid. And after Covid is 2025 already. That bothers me. I'm gonna air my grievance.
Jason Stewart
It sounds like long Covid sounds like long Covid.
Rich Davis
I think you still have long Covid. I think, yeah, maybe.
Steve Cavino
Honestly, you share the sentiment. There's a big trend on social media now where mostly, like, millennials, a lot of people in their 30s are saying that they feel as though again, post Covid is like a weird world for them.
Rich Davis
Well, I think the sentiment you're seeing a lot as am I on social media is people saying that they've never the feeling of happiness hasn't been the same. Like the spark of life has been different.
Steve Cavino
Interesting. I have, I have one more now and then we'll take all of your feedback. I hate, you know, people talking about LeBron versus Michael Jordan. We say that's the most like eye rolly, weak ass, go to sports debate like Jordan or LeBron. I feel like one of there's a debate that bothers me even more and it's is Die Hard a Christmas movie? I just feel like it's it's the Jason. I'd rather someone say man times flying in an elevator than than ask someone, hey, what's your favorite Christmas movie? And instead, instead of having, instead of having a real answer like oh, it's a Wonderful Life or elf or oh, Christmas Vacation. You know, I'm a big fan of love. Actually when someone's like die Hard, I'm like, oh my God, how masculine are you trying to appear? I agree with Red Die Hard. And by the way, fun fact, it was released in July. It's not a Christmas.
Rich Davis
As we said recently.
Steve Cavino
The end.
Rich Davis
I watched it last night. It's all Christmas. It's the fact. No, but it's the fact that the person saying that acts as if you didn't ever hear before that, you know, die Hards a Christmas movie. Like, oh really? Never heard that one before. That's what makes it a novel Christmas. I'm with you. It's the whole thing's Christmas.
Steve Cavino
Well, we'll take your feedback. Airing of grievances. What the heck? It's Festivus, Kavino and Rich in for the great Dan Patrick. And we'll talk some more NFL your grievances and an interesting story about re gifting in the world of the NBA. So hang tight.
Jason Stewart
Be sure to catch the live edition.

I know Santa Baby's all the rage right now by Kim Kardashian, but Alvin and the Chipmunks Christmas song is probably one of the best ones ever of all time. I'm a huge Alvin fan and I never understood Rich. When David Seville would be like Alvin, he could hardly wait for school to start again. I never understood that. Now I do. Yeah, you know what kids are? Pain in the ass. Can I air my grievance?
Steve Cavino
You can air your grievances. That's what we're doing here on Fox Sports Radio. My grievance is that you love the song. You think you're an Alvin, but after your holiday snack. And you're more of a Theodore bro.
Rich Davis
I mean, who isn't for the rest of us. Yeah, who isn't after all the holiday snacking?
Steve Cavino
How do you not snag, by the way? It's. I wanted to start doing like a new workout routine. Spy, you were turning me on to that F45 deal.
Rich Davis
F45? Yeah, they're all I've done.
Steve Cavino
Orange Theory. I don't feel like doing CrossFit. I'm in my 40s. I don't want to break anything. So I was like, oh, let me get a little new workout going. What was I. I was like, the week before Christmas. What am I thinking? Wait till the new year like every other idiot. And that's when you start a new workout plan. Now, Grievances.
Rich Davis
I got one. What do you got, by the way? We open it up to you. Fox Sports Radio Nation. Covino and Rich in for Dan Patrick, the unnatural holiday hat trick. This is day one of three, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. We're filling in for Dan Patrick. So we're going to air our grievances. Could be in the world of sports. Absolutely Your team made a weak move. Let us know. I got. When you brought the gym. How about all these broccoli heads in their pajama pants and crocs in their tank tops? These broccoli heads. I'm talking about the alpaca boys. These young men at the gym hogging up every piece of equipment that you're trying to use. I want to air my grievance on the broccoli heads. I commend these young men for hitting the gym and trying to get in shape. I do commend that. But their overall look and how they just hang in my presence and in my way. I don't like that at the gym. I air my grievance.
Steve Cavino
You sound like an old guy. You sound like an old guy, but I agree. Listen, I admire, you know, younger people working out, but when I do see teenagers at the gym, my first thought is, is there a field house or a gym at your school or something else? Like, that's where we all like when you played high school sports.
Rich Davis
Why do I get a battle through, like, six of you to use one piece of equipment? Like, and they travel in pack alpacas. I'll travel. Travel in packs.
Steve Cavino
I guess now you know, on the opposite. I do applaud the goofy haircut. I do applaud the college girls at the gym with those yoga pants with the crease in the. In the butt crack.
Rich Davis
It's a John crease.
Steve Cavino
What are those?
Rich Davis
It's a John crease because it keeps inch.
Steve Cavino
A butt cinch a bunch. Guess what? Butt cinch. My favorite thing of 2024. Thank you, Mary.
Rich Davis
In fact. Which is grievances. Women that don't wear the butt cinch.
Steve Cavino
What are we doing? We not butt cinching.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Steve Cavino
Festivus for the rest of us. So let's. Let's go to your phone calls. Jason, who do we got?
Jason Stewart
I got Nick in California. Nick, you're on.
Rich Davis
Yeah. Hey, guys. Nice listening to you. This is Nick. I'm definitely have a grievance about baseball. I'm a lifelong Dodger fan. How could I possibly have a grievance? You're saying, I love the fact that the baseball made a change and had the for the National League, and we ended up getting Ohtani, and without him, we wouldn't have won the World Series. But like any good cook in the kitchen knows, once you have enough salt, it doesn't mean put in more salt. This BS that they come up with is the magical fairy at bat or whatever they're calling it. They cannot do that Freddie Freeman is a testament to the fact that we already have the magic. We don't need to add more salt to the stew. They really did a good job with the pitch clock. They really did a good job with making the bases bigger to re encourage stealing. These were problems that they addressed.
Steve Cavino
I agree. I agree.
Rich Davis
You know what I golden at bat.
Steve Cavino
Is just a suggestion concept.
Rich Davis
It's just a suggestion. I don't, I don't mind ideas. Right. Ideas. Especially in our world, we talk for hours at a time. It may be a weak ass idea but maybe it spurs a better one.
Steve Cavino
Right?
Rich Davis
Another idea comes from that idea.
Steve Cavino
I think the big conversation lately when it comes to ideas, baseball's done a lot of changing for the positive. Football here and there, good change, bad change. I think, I think the big change in the tab in football is the on site kick is awful. Like, you know, you see these great endings and whether they do that, oh, you get the ball 4th and 20 from your own 20 something. They got to do something. The on site kick.
Rich Davis
And what did Danny G. Say, our producer Monday through Friday? Like, yeah, it's a 7% success rate. Something ridiculous. It rarely works out.
Steve Cavino
But the question is, this is terrible. What do they do in the NBA? That's the question. I feel like that's going to be a big thought moving forward.
Rich Davis
The NBA is just a grievance for everybody at this point, a festivus for.
Steve Cavino
The rest of us.
Rich Davis
So we'll continue and wrap up your grievances. And we got to pay our tributes to Ricky Henderson.
Steve Cavino
Yeah, think about your favorite Ricky Henderson moment. I know you got one. J. Stu Kavino. Yeah, there's so many great anecdotes and stories. We'll do that next. Kavino and Rich in for dan Patrick.
Dan Patrick
Introducing TGL, presented by SoFi, golf's newest league live on ESPN and ESPN Plus.

In the absence of Dan Patrick, hosts Steve Cavino and Rich Davis take the helm of "The Dan Patrick Show" for this special episode. They welcome listeners with a festive spirit, acknowledging the upcoming Christmas season and setting the stage for a lively discussion on sports, pop culture, and personal anecdotes.
Rich Davis delves into the New York Yankees' recent offseason activities, particularly focusing on acquisitions like Giancarlo Stanton, Paul Goldschmidt, and others. He raises questions about the evolving motivations of players when joining big-market teams:
“It's all about the money. To the point where... it's equally a business for these franchises, but it's equally a business for the players.”
[04:28]
Steve Cavino contrasts this with his appreciation for the Yankees' longstanding traditions, such as their iconic pinstripes and the historical significance of playing for a storied franchise:
“He's the type of guy that talks about the pinstripes, like, relentlessly...”
[05:16]
The discussion highlights a generational shift in player priorities, suggesting that younger athletes may prioritize financial incentives over team legacy and culture.
Rich Davis expresses skepticism about the sustainability of the Yankees' strategy, questioning whether players genuinely care about wearing the pinstripes or if their loyalty lies elsewhere:
“They care about the bag, and that is it.”
[05:07]
This segment underscores concerns about the long-term cohesion and identity of the team amidst high-profile signings and a focus on short-term gains.
The hosts shift focus to the recent heavyweight bout between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk. Rich Davis posits that Usyk's victory marks the end of a dominant era led by fighters like Fury, Wilder, and Joshua:
“It's the end of a heavyweight era and start of a new one.”
[07:04]
He praises Usyk's technique and athleticism, arguing that Usyk's style outshines his heavier counterparts:
“Usyk fights like a middleweight, moves like a middleweight...”
[07:35]
Steve Cavino adds that Fury's losses to Usyk, enhanced by the use of AI judges, diminish his legacy:
“It was the Usyk era. ... I don't think Fury can beat Usyk.”
[07:50]
They discuss potential future matchups and the implications for the heavyweight division, suggesting that Usyk will be the benchmark for upcoming fighters:
“Maybe it's the Usyk Dubois era and we'll see that rematch...”
[07:59]
This conversation emphasizes a significant shift in the boxing landscape, with Usyk emerging as the new standard.
Rich Davis analyzes the Pittsburgh Steelers' recent loss to the Baltimore Ravens, interpreting it as a testament to the Ravens' prowess:
“If they could beat the Ravens, it shows they're a legitimate team.”
[08:55]
He contrasts this with the Steelers' inconsistent performance, suggesting that the Ravens have solidified their status as a top contender.
The conversation turns to Russell Wilson's tenure with the Denver Broncos under coach Sean Payton. Rich Davis theorizes that Payton's preconceived notions may have negatively impacted Wilson's performance:
“Every little mistake that Russell Wilson made last year... he made up that mind in his head well before he even got out to the practice field.”
[09:15]
Steve Cavino echoes this sentiment, highlighting the importance of the quarterback-coach relationship and its influence on team dynamics:
“Russell is a good quarterback. ... it's easy to pile on the way we pile on Aaron Rodgers now.”
[11:06]
This segment underscores concerns about leadership and player utilization within NFL franchises.
The hosts critique Kim Kardashian's latest "Santa Baby" music video, focusing on its seductive portrayal and the resulting controversy:
“She’s crawling around like a cat... singing a very sexy, sultry Santa baby.”
[12:44]
They discuss the video's stylistic choices and the backlash regarding perceived religious symbolism:
“There's a lot of unnecessary controversy about the video because people are like, what's this about?”
[14:43]
Rich Davis predicts that the video will dominate social media conversations, both positive and negative:
“You’re gonna see this on social media...”
[14:35]
Steve Cavino adds a lighter take, appreciating Kardashian's presentation despite the mixed reactions:
“She looking good.”
[14:35]
This analysis highlights the intersection of celebrity culture and media reception during the holiday season.
Embracing the Festivus tradition, the hosts engage in a humorous yet candid airing of personal grievances, inviting listeners to do the same.
Steve Cavino shares his annoyance with the Yankees' strict no-facial-hair policy, critiquing the outdated tradition and its impact on player confidence:
“My number one grievance is that I think it's funny... the Yankees still have this no facial hair rule.”
[36:30]
Rich Davis expresses frustration with the post-Covid perception of time, feeling disconnected from the rapid pace of the world:
“I feel like after Covid the world has been on fast forward... my perception of time is off.”
[40:28]
Their light-hearted banter includes playful jabs at each other's habits and the challenges of maintaining traditions in modern contexts.
The hosts encourage listeners to participate by sharing their own grievances, fostering a sense of community and interactive dialogue.
Rich Davis and Steve Cavino pay homage to the late Ricky Henderson, sharing favorite moments and reflecting on his legacy in baseball. They invite listeners to share their own cherished memories, emphasizing the enduring impact of Henderson's career.
