It's hour two on this Tuesday. Dan and the Danettes Dan Patrick Show Come on in. Stay a while. We'll check in with Phil Mickelson's former caddy Bones Mackay. He'll join us. We'll talk about is Tiger going to go to Augusta and is he going to try to play. We also had a report From TMZ about 15 minutes ago that police found hydrocodone pills, you know, treated for, you know, chronic arthritis and pain. Found that in Tiger's pocket at the time of his arrest when he overturned his suv. We don't know any other information. It's been been pretty tight lipped in Tiger circles as it normally is. But I'm curious if he will be going to Augusta next week. He does have a golf project that he is heading up his design company and he's also expected to be or a hope he'll be at the champions dinner as well. 8773-DP-SHoVE Email address dp@danpatrick.com Twitter handle @dpshow Good morning if you're watching on Peacock, thank you for downloading the app. We say good morning to our radio affiliates as well. A lot of conversation not only about Tiger in the first hour but also the Danny Hurley moment after the Braylon Mullen shot with four tenths of a second to go. But I thank the UConn Basketball Sports Information office because I wanted to know has anybody talked to Dan Hurley about this? And is can can he give context to his relationship with Roger Ayers, who is the official there? Veteran official. And what was the conversation? What were the words exchanged? And I'll read what I got from the sports information office. I don't know if he said anything publicly. He meets with the locals this afternoon. I'm sure that that will come up. I think what Roger Ayers told Seth Greenberg tracks with coaches perspective. I can confirm that he was telling Coach Hurley that he was looking at the clock and it was extremely loud in there. But yeah, I'm just curious about it because it feels like Dan Hurley, who was he ejected or got a technical. He made contact with an official I believe earlier this year and got teed up for that. Marvin, does that sound right? That tracks okay. And I think there were a lot of people who were saying oh, is he getting away with something? I don't know why in that moment you would try to intimidate or say anything to an official. You just had one of the greatest moments of your. Your coaching career, one of the greatest moments in March Madness history. And I don't know why, at that moment there would be any kind of confrontation. Does feel like the official, Roger Ayers, was going to the scores table because he wanted to see. You got to make sure you set or reset the clock. And I think that's what he was doing and maybe said to Hurley, I'm. I'm going to check the clock. Hurley may have said something back to him, but, you know, I just heard from a college basketball source who said, let me get this right, because I did not think of this. I would expect it's possible the basketball committee discussed the matter during its officiating selection call yesterday and may have opted to keep Roger Ayers out of the Final Four to avoid any distraction or question regarding this assignment. In fairness, it also wouldn't be unusual for the official to contact the committee and request to be removed from consideration so as not to be a distraction. All right, so that's from my college basketball source, who also said Ayers worked three UConn games each of the last two seasons and officiated UConn's championship game in 2023. He also worked 114 games this season, seventh most in men's basketball. He's worked six national semifinal games, one national championship game. All right, so just some background there on the official who was involved in this. Roger Ayers and Dan Hurley. Seaton, update the poll results from hour one, if you can, please.
Seaton (Poll Host/Producer)
Yeah, we got two of them up there. How present will Tiger woods be at the Masters this year? Your options are he'll play there for some events or won't be there at all.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Seaton (Poll Host/Producer)
Won't be there at all. Currently has 74% of that vote. About 10% of the audience think he'll play. We also have up there Dan Hurley and the ref. Big deal. Not a big deal. We might play big deal. Not a big deal today.
Dan Patrick
Not really sure.
Seaton (Poll Host/Producer)
Not a big deal. Currently has 63% of them.
Dan Patrick
Okay. All right. A lot of people have an opinion on it. You may not think it's a big deal, but it's a deal. I can't. It's odd. I think we can all agree it's odd in that moment to have that kind of. I can't even. I got to come up with the word. It's not an altercation. Is it an engagement, an incident, a moment, a run in I don't have no idea how to describe that. It's not a headbutt because the headline writers are going crazy with the headbutt from Dan Hurley with the official. Yeah, Paulie.
Paulie (Co-host/Analyst)
Dan Hurley was ejected from a March 7 game at Marquette for making contact with official John Gaffney.
Dan Patrick
Okay. All right. Some phone calls here. Do you have a poll question for hour two? Seaton, we're going to go in.
Seaton (Poll Host/Producer)
Yeah, we're going to keep those up.
Dan Patrick
Okay. All right. It sounds good. Fred in South Carolina. Good morning, Fred. What's on your mind today?
Fred (Caller)
Good morning, Dan. The Danettes got a couple of things. I think the. It needs to get on this with Marley Matlin, because I've looked at that video, and I don't. I don't see his lips moving at all. I mean, look at and watch his lips. So I think it's just a macho thing of, hey, wasn't that great?
Judd (Caller)
Or whatever.
Fred (Caller)
But I think you're right. Maybe that referee should recluse himself and say, let's don't even continue this topic. Another topic for you. How many times. We can do some more research on this, but think of all the men's and women's teams in the Sweet 16 Elite 8. I mean, we got UConn, men and women. We got Duke, Mint. When men and women, Texas, ucla. Just a lot of good basketball out there. I'll leave that I team thing. And you got guys talking to Marley and wait for your results. Have a good day.
Dan Patrick
All right. All right. Marlee Matlin. So, yeah, famous actress. Did she win an Academy Award? I think she got. No, I think she won. I think she won an Academy Award. Yes.
Paulie (Co-host/Analyst)
Best Actress, 1986. Children of a Lesser God.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Yeah. Back to you, Marley man. Thank you.
Paulie (Co-host/Analyst)
Luckily, I had her bio up.
Dan Patrick
I didn't. I didn't think we were going to talk about Marlee Matlin today, but my notes. But I'm glad that you. You that ready, Paulie. Thank you.
Seaton (Poll Host/Producer)
That sounds like a fake name of
T-Mobile Advertiser
a movie, by the way.
Seaton (Poll Host/Producer)
Like, if there was a movie and in the movie there was an awards show and. And the award goes to Children of a Lesser God. Doesn't even sound real.
Dan Patrick
Matt in North Carolina. Good morning, Matt. What's on your mind today?
Matt (Caller)
Hey, Dan. Boys. Seaman. Quick question about Rogers or a statement? I had the fortunate pleasure of being courtside for a few of his games. And he really interacts great with the fans, kids. I think his brain might have short circuited along with Hurley with that shot because it probably was one of the greatest pieces he's ever seen. And as being a little league umpire, I gotta stick with him for baseball that we Blues have to stick together. So I think it's much about nothing because everyone who saw that shot was in stunned amazement. And I think Hurley's brain just completely went haywire.
Dan Patrick
And yeah, it's almost like an out of body experience that he was having there. But thank you for the phone call, Matt. Red in Georgia. Hi, Red. What's on your mind today?
Red (Caller)
Quickly, Dan on Dan Hurley, man, whatever Dan do whatever y' all take from it, enjoy it. Cause he great for college basketball.
Matt (Caller)
Hey, Dan.
Red (Caller)
But this Luca thing, man, when you got a player like Luca, his offense is his defense. I don't want Luca to get tired playing defensive and take a. I want you to score. Luca, I'm gonna put you on the worst throwing player on the team. You guy him, if he run past you, I want the other players to step up and take his slack. That would you do as a team for Luca.
Dan Patrick
Hey, Red, it's a fair point. I've said this before, that you still have to guard me and odds are I'm going to be outscoring you. You make sure that Luka's not on a great player where you're going to expend a lot of energy at the other end. But I agree, you still have to guard me and chances are I'm going to outscore you. Yes, Paulie.
Paulie (Co-host/Analyst)
I'm sure Lamar Jackson can play defensive back if need be and I know it's a different sport, but nobody cares about Luke on defense. They got four of the guys who got to pick up the defense.
Dan Patrick
Well, I care about Luca on the defensive end. I just want him to try.
Paulie (Co-host/Analyst)
I, I think we know what it is at this juncture.
Dan Patrick
It's like we pick and choose with this topic. We do. It drives me crazy because if we're talking about both ends of the floor, then give Wimby the mvp. Because if you talk about the most complete player in the game, you're talking about he's an A plus on the defensive end. And let's say he's an A minus on the offensive end. Let's average this out. If, if, if I give SGA an A plus in offense and I give him a B, B minus on defense. If I give Joker an A plus on offense and I give him a C plus, B minus, I just average it out. If that's what you want to do. And that's, you know, the lazy approach that analysts have of, hey, doesn't play any defense. James Harden didn't either. Mike's the rare guy, the rare guy who was not a seven footer who was playing defense, you know, at an A level. When you're MVP and Defensive Player of the Year, let that sink in. That's the amazing part of. And a guy who did, he'd like playing defense. But Wemby is going to be MVP and Defensive Player of the Year really soon. And the fact that those odds have gone from 225, I think, plus 2 25, 220500 plus 2500 to plus 225 in the span of about two weeks. Yes. Marvin.
Reggie Miller
Is Wemby's lack of postseason success holding him back from being a real candidate for the MVP award this season?
Dan Patrick
Yeah, probably.
Reggie Miller
So your postseason success determines your regular season MVP award.
Dan Patrick
I think that we like to see what you're going to do, and it's like we need to validate your greatness by what are you going to do in the postseason? Then the following year we can give you an mvp. Yes. More.
Reggie Miller
The Joel Embiid MVP award is aging like milk.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but that's big perk on NBA today because he led that charge with like two weeks to go. He's telling the voters, you guys are going to make a big mistake giving Joker another MVP. It should be Joel Embi. And look, Joe, LNB's been through an awful lot and he's put up some really incredible numbers. But he wasn't better than Joker. He wasn't. Plain and simple. Oh, I know Embiid. I'm sure he was a lockdown defender. He played. He played great. But when we start to pick and choose and, you know, then make sure you use it across all platforms with all players, if that's what you're going to do. And you want to factor that in, great. But nobody did that with James Harden. I never heard. Maybe he doesn't play defense. Yeah. But he plays offense at a really high level. Yeah.
Paulie (Co-host/Analyst)
Paulie, the spurs are two and a half games back of the Thunder right now. The Thunder have six games to go. The spurs have seven games to go.
Dan Patrick
I.
Paulie (Co-host/Analyst)
They got a little work to do. We talked about this.
Dan Patrick
Do they play each other?
Paulie (Co-host/Analyst)
Checking.
Dan Patrick
Okay, but if the spurs have the best record, then Wemby should win mvp. Correct.
Reggie Miller
Correct.
Dan Patrick
That's. That's what we've been basing this off of. Best player on the best team. Yeah.
Paulie (Co-host/Analyst)
Paulie, they do not face each other,
Dan Patrick
but they could be Facing each other in the playoffs.
Paulie (Co-host/Analyst)
The Thunder faced the Lakers twice. So that will get national TV play.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Let's see Mike in Sarasota. Hi, Mike. What's on your mind today?
Fred (Caller)
Hey, dp, how's it. How you doing today? So yesterday you were, you guys were talking about the favorite sports moment. So just real quick, I got a favorite one. First time seeing Mike Tyson live on pay per view and it was against Buster Douglas, so. And then secondly, the refs for the Oklahoma City game, do you think they're going to call the same way in the playoffs that they did last night as far as going to overtime and things like that?
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but that was, that had to be called. Like that was embarrassing. If it wasn't, it wasn't a flop. But once again, I really think this is incumbent upon the officials and the NBA. Do you need, and I'm sure they've discussed this, of how are we going to call this player? Like with Shaq, like they had to confer to go, how do we call a foul on Sha? He got fouled every time down the floor just about. And I mean true fouls. Like it was, you know, Chuck, Chuck Norris type of, you know, I'm going to chop your arm off if I can, but I, if I'm Adam Silver, I want to make sure that I don't let SGA go to the line 29 times or 25 times because I don't think it's a good look for the NBA. Yes, Marv.
Reggie Miller
And speaking of push offs, we can talk to Reggie about pushing off.
Dan Patrick
Whoa, whoa.
Reggie Miller
Sorry, Rich.
Dan Patrick
He admits that he did.
Reggie Miller
He did.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, he, he pushed off, but so did the greatest player in maybe his greatest moment. Mike pushing off in Utah.
Paulie (Co-host/Analyst)
I didn't see that.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, boy, I did. Oh, I got early World cup odds. Let me take a break here. These are tease worthy.
Bones Mackay
I think it's a huge day, by
Seaton (Poll Host/Producer)
the way, for your Italian squad. They got a big qualifier today. They got a win to get in.
Dan Patrick
Well, they got Jimmy Scungeo and Tommy Calamari. The chances are they're going to be in good shape. All right, we'll take a break. I'll give you the early World cup odds and then we'll talk to Bones Mackay, the great analyst for NBC and former caddy for Phil Mickelson. Back after this.

Everybody has an opinion not only on Tiger. We just saw where TMZ reported that Tiger had hydrocodone, a couple of pills in his pocket and they saw the police report and it goes back to here's Tiger in an accident and you're waiting for the police to arrive and he leaves the pills in his pocket. He could have discarded them. And we still don't know if he's going to show up for the champions dinner, if he's going to try to play or not. And also everybody has an opinion on the Dan Hurley situation as well. 8773-DP-SHoVE Email Address DP danpatrick.com Twitter Handle DP Show He's Jim Bones MacKay, NBC Sports on course reporter, former caddy for Phil Mickelson and Justin Thomas. How you feeling today, Bones?
Bones Mackay
I'm doing great, Dan. How are you?
Dan Patrick
I'm good. How many miles do you think you've walked in your career as an on course reporter and a caddy?
Bones Mackay
It's a good question. A guy came up to me once to determine. I think I was at the the Open Championship and he had done some math around some what caddies had done. He told me I'd walked around the globe twice with a golf bag on my back. So my, my knees still hurt. So if that's any indication, I've worked walked a lot.
Dan Patrick
Have you had a game time decision whether you were going to be able to caddy for Phil or Justin?
Bones Mackay
You know, certainly traveling around the globe and doing certain things, you run into, you know, food poisoning and things. Missed a couple of days over the course of 30 years of caddying. But I, I've never had him like a major injury or anything like that that kept me from working.
Dan Patrick
Before I get to Tiger, I want to ask you about Phil Mickelson because we haven't heard much from Phil either. And I don't know, is he, do you expect him to be at the Masters? Is he still wanting to compete on a high level?
Bones Mackay
Yeah, I think Phil's a guy that's, that would think he could win the masters into his 60s. So it's just the way he's built, he's, you know, back playing competitive golf again now on his tour. So I would expect he'll, he'll show up at the Masters and he'll be intent on winning.
Dan Patrick
What's it like though, for a caddy and a player, let's say this time, you know, leading up to the Masters? What are you doing? What's your player doing to get ready?
Bones Mackay
I think watching, you know, it gets back to what some of what we're talking about today with what the incredible Masters app and what's available out there in terms of watching Masters and picking up, you know, breaks on greens and wins on 12 and things like that. So there's, there's so much you can delve into now, especially again, once you get into the Masters app, which is award winning and the greatest app in sports, if you ask me, that you can learn to help you out there on the golf course.
Dan Patrick
But are you playing, Are you going to Augusta a week before?
Bones Mackay
There's real rules in terms of what the caddies can and can't do. You can't, you know, just go out there as a caddy a week before and walk the golf course a number of times and roll balls on the greens. You can only do it once your players showed up to town, so to speak. The players can play as much as they want to, but the caddies really don't get a chance to get a crack at the golf course until tournament week.
Dan Patrick
When's the last time you played Augusta last November. How'd you do?
Bones Mackay
It's getting away from me a little bit. I'm at that age now where golf and I are getting along that well. But I did all right. Thank you.
Dan Patrick
IBM and the Masters are unveiling a new AI powered feature. This is what Jim was talking about. So this is an immersive way for fans to experience the masters. You go masters.com and tell me more about the app of what fans can experience with this.
Bones Mackay
Well, you know, you, you can get out there through the Masters app and you can see every hole, every shot, every player in real time. It's an amazing thing. It's, it's an award winning app and it's, it's a, it's a must have in terms of keeping up with what's going on in the tournament if you're not on property. And it's got a couple of additional features this year. It's got the Masters vault search, which enables you to go back over 50 years and just, you know, type in, you know, Tiger's chip shot on 16 and it'll bring it up and show you, you know, great moments in past Masters history or Jack Nicklaus's amazing Putt on 16 in 1975 on his way to another win. It's just an incredible way to immerse yourself in the tournament and, and get ready, fired up for this year's Masters.
Dan Patrick
I was surprised how hilly when I first went to Augusta back in the early 90s. It doesn't, people don't assume that it's going to be hilly in Georgia, Augusta. That's really surprised me. And the elevation, the changing in elevation, that's why, you know, when we talk about these guys have to walk this course, you don't get, you don't get carts. You got to walk it. And that's what, you know when you're looking at Tiger trying to be able to play in previous years, maybe this year that elevation takes its toll on these guys.
Bones Mackay
Yeah, it's, you're exactly right. It's what, you know, first timers say without, you know, question the shocks. And the most about being on the property is, you know, walking up eight or, you know, walking up the, even the first fairway, if you will, to your tee shot. It's, it's, it's rigorous and it takes a toll on your body. And not only does your golf game have to be in good shape, but you have to be as physically as well.
Dan Patrick
What do you expect from Tiger next week? Where is he going to Be in your opinion?
Bones Mackay
Oh, man, it's such a tough question. I hope he's there. I certainly hope he's at the Champions Dinner. You know, it would be great to have people rally around him there. Whether or not he plays, I don't know. I'm sure the events of last week may, you know, affect whether or not he ultimately does tee it up in the Tournamen, but where, wherever he is, I hope he's got, you know, his friends close by. And there's a lot of people out there that are. That are there for him, so to speak.
Dan Patrick
What was it like, though? You're there with Phil and Phil's going toe to toe with Tiger and you're the caddy. Is there part of you that's competitive with Stevie Williams? You know, Tigers, cat like you, you have to. This is my guy. That's your guy. You know, how did the caddies kind of approach that rivalry?
Bones Mackay
Yeah, there's a little of that. Certainly, you know, with Steve and I. You're competitive. I was actually pretty good friends with Tiger and still am. And certainly you don't want that to become a factor when you're out there trying to win the Masters on a Sunday. I'm out there doing my thing with Phil, but, you know, those guys, you know, were obviously on a different page for most of their careers in terms of, you know, how they went about things and their relationship itself. So I usually kept to what I was doing with Phil. And, you know, if you had a moment, you might have a conversation with Tiger about this or that. But, you know, usually, you know, those guys got paired together late on a Sunday. You're trying to win the Masters or some other huge event. You're. You're just, you know, clawing and trying to pick up every shot you can.
Dan Patrick
What is it like? Now you're an on course analyst, but when you see the live players and the regular PGA Tour players interacting like, is it. Well, you tell me if, if it feels like, forced a little, you know, they can't. Are they buddy buddies still, even though they're playing on rival tours?
Bones Mackay
I think it depends on the player. I mean, you know, you look at a guy like Dustin Johnson, I mean, he's still, you know, a lot of people love Dustin and for good reason. He's. He's a wonderful guy. And, and I think when he left to do his thing, he. He did it in, in the appropriate way. I just think it depends player to player. Whereas some other guys might have left in a different fashion.
Dan Patrick
Tiger at his peak, Scotty Scheffler right now in the embryonic stages of his career. Can you make any comparisons between those two?
Bones Mackay
I can say that I never thought in my lifetime, I'm 60 years old, that there would be another player that I would say, hey, my gosh, he's entering that conversation. Is he as good as Tiger? No, he's not. Tiger is by far the best player I've ever seen, but I didn't think I'd see another player this good. In terms of what Scotty Scheffler is
Dan Patrick
accomplishing on the PGA Tour, what's your signature moment?
Bones Mackay
I guess that conversation with Phil and the trees at number 13 and Augusta in 2010, when we had a little back and forth as to what the best. The best, you know, strategy was out of those trees. And, and of course, Phil wanted to go for it, you know, from the moment he set foot behind the ball and saw that there was a gap in the pines. And, you know, I. It's not that I try to talk him out of it because he was insistent on going, but we had to get that club selection right. It worked out nicely. And on his way to his third Masters victory.
Dan Patrick
But how does that work where you have to have an opinion, he gives you the opportunity to have opinion. What happens when your opinion doesn't coincide with his.
Bones Mackay
Well, he's the boss, certainly. And Phil was a, you know, was in a very opinionated, you know, strongly. He. He had. He was. There was no self doubt there with Phil, and that was great. It made it easy to work for him. And so, you know, usually when his mind. He had his mind set on something, you know, he was going to go ahead and go and do it, you know, and I would. I would say my piece and kind of back out of there. But he. The thing that's interesting about that shot out of the trees was I worked for the guy for 25 years. It was one of only two occasions where we got ourselves into a bit of a pickle, where he told me what he was going to do before I even gave him the yardage. So he. On that particular shot, he had his mind made up and he was ready to roll.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. And it turned out great for both of you guys. Tell us one more time how people can access all this data. AI From Masters.
Bones Mackay
Yeah, it's just available through the Masters app. You can get it there on your phone or on your device. And it's just an incredible thing to have and to be able to keep up with this year's Tournament. And it's the most amazing app in sports that I've ever come across.
Dan Patrick
Good to talk to you, Jim. Thanks for joining us.
Bones Mackay
Thank you, Dan. Take care.
Dan Patrick
That's Bones MacKay. You can see him on NBC. Their on course reporter, former caddy for Phil Mickelson and Justin Thomas. I remember when Stevie Williams was talking about the we with Tiger, like, we've won all of these tournaments. We've won all these majors. And I talked to Bones and I said, how many tournaments have you and Phil won? He goes, I didn't win. Phil won the tournaments. You know, and. And that's. Now, do I think the caddy plays a role, a large role? It depends on the player. But you would have thought that Stevie Williams was. It's. This was a 50, 50 partnership. I could have caddied for Tiger, I think, and he would have won a few majors. I just don't know if I could have carried the bag four days. Yeah.
Paulie (Co-host/Analyst)
Paulie, you know this. I don't really. Do the caddies play the course days before to get yardage.
Judd (Caller)
They.
Paulie (Co-host/Analyst)
No, they don't.
Dan Patrick
No.
Paulie (Co-host/Analyst)
Okay.
Dan Patrick
No, they just walk it.
Paulie (Co-host/Analyst)
They walk it.
Dan Patrick
But now they have booklets that give you all that information. And now it used to be your yardage might be different than somebody else's, but yeah, they have. Now they have booklets that they give you and you say, how far is it? 128, 129. I remember somebody gave. I think it's VJ Singh, his caddy. He said, how far out are we in? This Caddy said, 155, 156. He goes, which one is it? They need the exact, exact number there, but masters.com to get all of that good stuff there. He's not sure if Tiger's going to be there. I'm hoping the champions dinner. I can't imagine that he would be playing, but, hey, it's Tiger. And how many times have we said, I can't imagine that he would be playing. Oh, I teased this the early World cup odds. Okay. All right. Who wants to guess who has the best odds to win the. I'll go to our resident soccer guy, Marvin.
Ryan Seacrest
Germany.
Dan Patrick
Okay, Seaton, who has the best odds right now?
Seaton (Poll Host/Producer)
How about Spain?
Dan Patrick
Spain is correct. Who is second, Paul?
Paulie (Co-host/Analyst)
Portugal.
Dan Patrick
No, they're down a little bit there, Todd. The French third, England second. Then it's France, Argentina, Brazil.
Seaton (Poll Host/Producer)
Brazil.
Dan Patrick
Portugal. Germany. Netherlands.
Bones Mackay
Norway.
Dan Patrick
Italy.
Seaton (Poll Host/Producer)
Italy. They're not even in yet.
Dan Patrick
Well, Belgium, Colombia, Morocco.
Paulie (Co-host/Analyst)
Morocco.
Dan Patrick
Probably saying, where's the United States?
Seaton (Poll Host/Producer)
Morocco is nasty.
Dan Patrick
They're really good. They're really good. Right after Morocco. Early World cup odds, USA 6500. They're in.
Paulie (Co-host/Analyst)
It's better than when they're not in.
Dan Patrick
Yes.
Reggie Miller
Todd, there's no way that country is going to win. Right. They're just all the way down at the bottom. There's no way that could happen every four years. Dan, I won't make that joke again for you.
TurboTax Advertiser
I like it.
Reggie Miller
Well, you'll be long on a boat somewhere.
Dan Patrick
I do love when Todd slows down the delivery. Just for those who might not be smart enough to get it, that joke
Seaton (Poll Host/Producer)
got a Chile reception.
Reggie Miller
Thanks. I could explain it to you.
Bones Mackay
Better?
Reggie Miller
Pretty much.
Paulie (Co-host/Analyst)
Not bad.
Dan Patrick
Spain is your favorite, followed by England, France, Argentina and Brazil. Yes, Marvin, I can't wait for when
Reggie Miller
the World cup starts. If Russell Westbrook plays soccer, how good
Dan Patrick
would the U.S.
Reggie Miller
like, name your starting five.
Dan Patrick
If. If we had our best athletes.
Reggie Miller
If LeBron was goalie,
Dan Patrick
could you imagine Victor Wembanyama as a goalie?
Matt (Caller)
Wow.
Dan Patrick
I don't know. Too many holes there. Seating for somebody that big?
Seaton (Poll Host/Producer)
Possibly. Yeah. Possibly.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Five hole, big fella.
Seaton (Poll Host/Producer)
You want to shoot between his legs there?
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Fred (Caller)
All right.
Dan Patrick
Yes, Paul.
Paulie (Co-host/Analyst)
Sports radio shows in France will be using that. Wembanyama.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Paulie (Co-host/Analyst)
Discussing that one.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Let's see. Kyle in Austin. Morning, Kyle. What's on your mind today?
Matt (Caller)
Hey, Dan. I would just want to piggyback off something you mentioned earlier with Tiger. It was heartbreaking for me to see him go through one of these situations again. I'm someone who battles with addiction, and I had a seven, eight year span where my life was just really kind of falling apart. I mean, on paper, I had, you know, everything going for me. I've got great career, three kids, amazing place to live. And I just, you know, I was going through life lying to myself and lying to my wife and lying to my kids. And I had to finally. I'm sorry, it's kind of emotional. You know, you have to take that personal accountability. You have to want the change. And so I remember being in a position like Tigers, not with an accident or something negative, but that mindset of I'm in control. And so now that I'm through that, my testimony is a beautiful thing because I'm accountable to my kids, I'm accountable to my wife. I acknowledge my past mistakes, the lying, the sneaking around and the non accountability. And so I use that as a testimony to raise my kid to be aware of the pitfalls. Addiction can be genetic. It can be by choice. But it comes with that, that desire to want to change and want to be a better person. So I just wanted to share that. My prayers go out the tiger and his family and everybody else that has to go through that. Love your guys. Show. Have a great day, fellas.
Dan Patrick
Thank you. Thank you, Kyle. Thank you for sharing. Yeah, you can have it in your family tree. And I remind my kids all the time that it's in the family tree on both sides with my wife and myself. And you just have to be aware, but you have to be willing to be honest with yourself. That's all. With Tiger, you know, you have two of these Vicodin in your pocket, and you don't have the wherewithal to take those out and throw those away at the scene of the accident. And if you have it in a bottle, in a prescription bottle, if it's contained, that's one thing. But it's in his pocket. This is Vicodin. And Vicodin does what you want Vicodin to do makes you feel better. You get that warm feeling. You don't want to feel anything. And who knows what. All the surgeries that he's had, like, how much pain you wake up every single day, and then, how do I get through the day? And he's not able to play competitive golf anymore. I mean, you can make an appearance at tgl, but nine swings is not walking. Four days at Augusta. And you wonder later in his life, like, what is he going to do? This is all he's known. He's been in front of us since he was two years of age. What is. What is he going to do? Not going to be an analyst. Are you able to play in the Senior Tour? They'll give him a, you know, a cart. But I don't know if he wants to. Like, you know, do you want to play? How badly do you want to play? Do you want to play? And, you know, it's going to hurt like that. So there's. There's a lot going on with this story. This is it. But it's a microcosm of what's been happening with Tiger. People gotta be honest with him, man. But he's got to be honest with himself, because I remember trying to put somebody into rehab. We basically had a palace coup. And it was tough. You know, it was tough love. But you know what? I look back, and we saved somebody's life. We did save somebody's life, but they have to be willing to be honest with himself. All right, we'll take a break. More phone calls. Coming up, Reggie Miller. Reggie keeps sending me all these topics. He wants to talk about the mvp. He wants to talk about the Duke meltdown. He wants to talk about the Dan Hurley moment. Reggie's all fired up with now he's sending me topics. Normally I send him topics. He's producing some stuff here. All right, we'll take a break. Back after this.

Good morning, Dan. First time caller, you know, with Tiger. Obviously he is going to have to face this addiction problem, just like you were just talking about with Bones, both legally and even more so in the court of public opinion. But it just got me thinking that, you know, we should talk about the entire man as long as we're going to, you know, talk about the mistakes he's made behind the wheel. And I'm not trying to condone that whatsoever. But I do want to take into consideration for what this man has not only meant to the game of golf with 15 majors and 82 wins, but what he's done to help kids. He started his foundation with his parents back in 1996. They've raised about $200 million. They've started these Tiger Woods Learning Labs. First one in Anaheim, where he grew up. Second one in Philadelphia. Third one will be in Augusta, Georgia, and the fourth one will be in Atlanta. It's a great public private partnership where they identify a school in no, I know.
Dan Patrick
Look, look, Judd, we understand all of the things that Tiger has done and accomplished. What if he killed somebody driving this is separate. The other stuff, the philanthropic stuff, the greatest golfer of all time, all of that stays. This is now. That's what we're talking about. It's now. He had hydrocodone in his pocket. He rolled his suv. He's done this a couple of times. I mean, he's lucky to be here. So you can bring up his resume and open up the scrapbook. That's great. But he's going to throw it all away. That's the point we're trying to make. I'm not trying to denigrate him. We've acknowledged his greatness. We've acknowledged all the things that he's done. But now we got to acknowledge what's happening right in front of us. There's a big difference in that. Michael in Fort Wayne. Hi, Mike. What's on your mind?
Matt (Caller)
Hey, good morning, Dan. Thanks for taking my call. I had a realization this morning as we were talking about Dan Hurley. He is the Todd Fritz of the coaching world. He some people love him, some people
Fred (Caller)
hate him, but you can always count
Matt (Caller)
on him to two things. One, he will make content, and two, he will make it all about himself.
Dan Patrick
Wow. So Dan Hurley is the Fritzi of the college basketball world.
Reggie Miller
Is there a small compliment in there somewhere? I don't know. You gotta really dig for that one.
Dan Patrick
Similar hairstyle. See?
Reggie Miller
All right, so just piling on now.
Dan Patrick
Basically. It's pretty close.
Reggie Miller
I'm a little crazy, too. We all know that.
Dan Patrick
Yes, you are. Yes, you are. David in Ohio. Hi, David. What's on your mind? Hey, Todd, I'll make you feel a little bit better here.
Fred (Caller)
I think what Dan Hurley said, and this is to you, Todd, his favorite Bruce Springsteen.
Dan Patrick
Saw him on that.
Fred (Caller)
Three went down.
Red (Caller)
Oh, yeah.
Matt (Caller)
Thank you.
Dan Patrick
All right. Thank you. I think we missed the punchline, at least a portion of it. Rhonda in Texas. Hi, Rhonda. Welcome back.
Rhonda (Caller)
Good Morning, Dan. The Dan 2 Comments. First stat of the day. Wim VP had a season high 41 points and 16 rebounds while collecting the fastest double double in NBA history last night. The San Antonio spurs won their ninth straight, defeating the Chicago Bulls 129 to 114. Wemby had 10 points, 10 rebounds in his first 8 minutes 31 seconds on the court. That was his 10th rebound was in the 1 minute and 55 seconds in the second quarter. The second fastest time that's ever happened in NBA history was when Jim Washington of the St. Louis Hawks had a double double in nine minutes against the New York Knicks on March 6, 1966. That's the stat of the day. And then also I have a suggestion for the Las Vegas NBA team. I know that NHL has the Dallas Stars, and yet what do you think about the Las Vegas Stars since the the city is filled with celebrities? Thank you, Dan.
Dan Patrick
Alrighty, Rhonda. Thank you. Thank you. Isn't there a minor league baseball team? Las Vegas Stars? Does that sound right? Am I making that up? What about Las Vegas Strip? Did we decide yay or nay on that? Sounds like a nay. Okay. All right. Reggie Miller, he's ready to go. He'll join us in about 25 minutes from now, the final hour in this Tuesday, right after this.

This hour delves deep into timely sports topics with a particular focus on golf as the Masters approaches. Dan and the Danettes examine Tiger Woods’ potential appearance at Augusta amid recent personal revelations, unpack a high-profile college basketball incident involving Dan Hurley, debate the NBA MVP race, and host an engaging interview with legendary caddy Bones Mackay. The hour is marked by candid listener calls, humor, and insightful behind-the-scenes sports commentary.
"He does have a golf project that he is heading up his design company and he's also expected to be or a hope he'll be at the champions dinner as well."
— Dan Patrick ([02:46])
"You just had one of the greatest moments of your coaching career, one of the greatest moments in March Madness history. And I don't know why in that moment there would be any kind of confrontation."
— Dan Patrick ([06:34])
"If we're talking about both ends of the floor, then give Wimby the MVP... he's an A+ on the defensive end. And let's say he's an A- on the offensive end. Let's average this out."
— Dan Patrick ([12:15])
"The Joel Embiid MVP award is aging like milk."
— Reggie Miller ([14:21])
Starts: [23:21]
“He told me I’d walked around the globe twice with a golf bag on my back.”
— Bones Mackay ([23:29])
"Phil’s a guy that would think he could win the Masters into his 60s. So it’s just the way he’s built."
— Bones Mackay ([24:21])
“Scotty Scheffler... Is he as good as Tiger? No, he's not. Tiger is by far the best player I've ever seen, but I didn’t think I’d see another player this good.”
— Bones Mackay ([30:27])
“You have to take that personal accountability. You have to want the change... My prayers go out to Tiger and his family and everybody else that has to go through that.”
— Kyle (Caller) ([37:34])
"It's odd. I think we can all agree it's odd in that moment to have that kind of... Is it an engagement, an incident, a moment, a run in? I don't have no idea how to describe that."
— Dan Patrick ([07:38])
"James Harden didn't [play defense] either. Mike's the rare guy, the rare guy who was not a seven-footer who was playing defense, you know, at an A level. When you're MVP and Defensive Player of the Year, let that sink in."
— Dan Patrick ([12:15])
"I could have caddied for Tiger, I think, and he would have won a few majors. I just don't know if I could have carried the bag four days."
