Three days of football and we got a whole lot more coming up recapping what happened with college football. Rick Neuheisel from CBS Sports will join us coming up. Also has a football song for the holidays for us, I believe as well. All right, poll question seaton. What are we going to go with an hour two? Let's clean up our ones results. Yeah, we've got up there too right now. Who do you believe in least? It's between Alabama and Miami. Miami has 60% of that vote. And then we also have which NFC playoff team do you believe in least? Your options there. Seahawks, Bears, 49ers Eagles, Seahawks, Bears, 49ers Eagles. The Bears currently have 42% of that vote. Yeah, I could see that. You know what's weird though, The Seahawks currently have 13% of that vote, which would mean that people believe in them most. Yeah, but this is Sam Darnold spillover from last year. That's all this is. You know, that's a thing. Sam Donald spillover, totally. Yes, it is. Yes. Yes. Because everybody's going to say the same thing. Let me see what happens in the postseason. Sam Darnold still unproven. Let me see what you do in a big game in the playoffs. But people here believe in him most. Well, I thought you said that he only got 13%. Which NFC playoff team do you believe in least? And they have the smallest number of votes, which means people would believe in them most. Okay, well, those people are wrong. Correct. I'm saying it's a very surprising result to me. Maybe there's they're as confused as I am with the results and maybe that's why they voted that way. But possibly a poorly worded. Yeah, no, the. The poorly worded award goes to the official. In the Lions game. It's a touchdown. But it's not. There was pass play. That again, Marvin. 4th and oh, we can't play. Can we play right where the official is or we have to play the whole thing. All right. Here's the whole thing. All right, let's go. Fourth and goal for the Lions from the nine ball Game on the line right here. They need the end zone for the win. Jared leans in. There's the snap on fourth down. Jared back. Jared stepping up. Jared looking, throwing end zone. It is caught by Amon Ra shy of the end zone. He flips it back to Goff into the end zone for the touchdown. There's a flag that came in, two flags. Did they rule him down? Are they going to say pass interference against Amon Ra? There's no time left on the clock. Here comes Carl Cheffers. The officials have finally broken. We're going to get the call right here. Is this game over or not? Pittsburgh staying on the field. Really on the field is a touchdown. However, number 14 on the offense, by rule, that penalty is not in front. Forced and there is no replay. The game is over. Wow. There is no touchdown. Wow, that's terrible. Terrible. However, that's. That's one of the most impactful howevers in sports history. However, you usually start with pass interference and no touchdown. Game over. Not. It's a touchdown. And, and then, you know, you got the crowd going crazy. Touchdown. But, and I got to give, you know, Jared Goff credit, he, he was aware of maybe a lateral. Got the lateral and it was a touchdown. That would have been a touchdown without the passing or however, there was a pass interference. Yes, Todd, it's like unintentionally mean spirited, like he's got something against the lines. Look how I'm going to trick all these guys. There's a touchdown and then you whisper. However, while the crowd is going crazy. Zach in Knoxville. Hi, Zach. Adp. Perfect segue. I don't believe that should have been called a touchdown. I think forward progress was stopped. And also, just based off of that game and all the other controversies we've had this year, I think that the ref should go full time, if nothing else, for the optics. But my job is not as high stakes as calling an NFL game yet. We have weekly meetings and we meet up. I just think that these guys should be in Dallas and Kansas City and should be in a central location and should be able to meet up every Monday and go over this stuff together so we have a clear interpretation of the rules. Do you think it's time for refs to be full time? Yeah, I don't know why we're not making them full time. That still doesn't. I mean, that's embarrassing. That's all that is. You can be full time. You're still going to say something in the inverse order, like, what are you doing? It's A touchdown. No, it's not, it's not a touchdown because there was past interference. If there wasn't pass interference and then we would argue was forward progress stopped with Amon Ross St. Brown, then we could have a discussion. But you don't lead with hey, it's a touchdown. And the crowd goes crazy. They don't hear what you say after that it's a touchdown. However. Oh my God. Yes. How does refs being full time employees change that scenario? He would. It doesn't. But I think Zach was saying if they're full time like we, we tend to look at them, okay, you're just part time like you're a mall cop, not a policeman. Like, yeah, but you're not official like you're not full time. And I don't know why the NFL just doesn't. For what Zach was saying. The optics of they are full time. So there's no real substance to it at all. It's just optics. Yeah, like hey, but at least I got it wrong. But at least they're doing it full time wrong. That I really, I really don't understand the. There has to be other reasoning other than optics that people are pushing for full time refs. Yes, Polly, I think making the refs full time would have the opposite effect. Everyone would say, good job NFL. Then we'd have the same exact types of calls next year. And these guys, these guys are getting paid $500,000 a year to do this. It would make it worse. Yes. Todd, you either know the rules. I'm with you to know the rules or you don't. If you are a substitute teacher a couple of days a week, are you doing some taxes, how is that going to change the calls you make or how you make them? That just seems a little ridiculous. Yeah, it's like the substitute teacher. It's like not even full time. Now here's Aaron Rodgers on that crazy play. I was trying to read Carl's lips and see what he was saying and I saw him mouth Opi end of the game. So I felt pretty confident that was what's going to happen. But you never know. It's more time. And like I said, I was there for the Fail Mary game. I was standing from me to you from the replacement refs as they caved to the pressure of an angry Seattle field when that was obviously not simultaneous possession. So I was glad that the ended up like that wild game. Glad we're on top. Aaron, a little call back there. The Fail Mary stat of the day brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of the program. NBA on NBC and Peacock every Tuesday in prime time. They got a double header. It'll be Nuggets, Mavs, Rockets, Clippers, NBA on NBC and streaming on Peacock. Yeah, we'll talk to Reggie Miller coming up tomorrow. Rick Neuheisel will stop by here in about 10 minutes. Couple of phone calls. Chris in Syracuse. Hi, Chris. Best and worst of the weekend. Hey, thanks, Dan. Hey, you know, I got a worse for it and I also wanted to comment a couple of things off the Ross Tucker interview. You guys were talking about DK Metcalf going in the stands. And I remember back in the 70s when the Boston Bruins were playing the New York Rangers in hockey and they were in Madison Square Garden and I think it was Milbury and O'Reilly and Wentzic all scaled the wall, went into the stands and started beating up fans. And I remember Mike Milbury took a guy's shoe off and started pounding him with the shoe. And, and the other thing you guys were talking about with Ross Tucker, about the, about the referees and those fans in Detroit must have given those refs an earful when they were leaving the field. And it brought me to one of my favorite stories. Andy Van Heleman was a referee in hockey and they asked him the best line he ever heard from fan. And this was back in the 70s when fans could almost reach us out and touch you when you were walking back to the ice through the tunnel. And he said, yeah, I was in Boston when, between the second and third intermission, between the second and third period. He said, I was walking, walking out and a fan yelled, yelled at me, hey, Van Heleman, you must be pregnant. You missed the first two periods. And my worst to the Michigan Wolverines football program. Kenny Dillingham signing a five year extension with Arizona State. That's good for him. You know, don't have to, you know, Michigan's not a charity case. It feels like Michigan, whatever they're, whoever they're waiting for, is still coaching. It feels like, because that transfer portal coming up and it feels like, you know, this is like Penn State where you're going, wait a minute. This is a really good job here. And it might be, but I don't want to go. I, I would stay with an interim head coach and wait until you get a lot of guys next year when all this mess with the athletic director let that all, you know, go away. More candidates. It's a great job. One of the top probably five jobs in America do that. And then you're going to get a lot of people interested. Yes, Marvin, but also Kenny Dillingham. He just needs $20 million. Did you see that? So he basically asked somebody to write a big check because this is what Arizona State needs in order to be competitive. Oh, yeah, they. Yeah, this is the collect. The collective. You know, you get nil and. But the collective is the key. You know, I was told that, that you get, you know, $21 million for your sports rosters, the collectives. You got to have another $20 million if you want to compete. I was told you got to be, you know, around $40 million. And that's what these, these schools know. He knows that. Hey, I'll stay. You got to make sure that I have enough money that I can compete with these other schools. Gus in LA. Hi, Gus. What's on your mind today? Good morning, Ms. Patrick. Hope you and the boys had a great weekend. Oh, my God, man, what a weekend for football. Man, I felt like I needed a cigarette yesterday after all the damn football that I've been watching. It was one of the best. I mean, starting in Thursday, I know that, you know, Friday, Saturday, not the best weekend, but Thursday night, that's when fun started with the Rams and the Seahawks and then continued all the way. Look, I know everybody's confused and whatever, man, but hey, if someone's gonna lose that way, I prefer not to be. My Steelers. Worst of the weekend, the DK Metcalf situation, you know, like, I don't know, when these, you know, dude, you're a professional athlete. You are like a physically chosen specimen that could literally break someone's jaw a la Jake Paul with one swing. I mean, it's just, you know, you're. You're a professional athlete for. Dear God, stop going into the stand. And then kind of like a bonus fest of the weekend. How about Ben Johnson and Liam Cohen? I mean, when those two guys took those jobs, everybody was kind of like, you know, we'll see, we'll see. A couple years down the road. It'll take some time, you know, to get them around. One year later, they both got double digit wins. First in their divisions. You got to give it up. And the true question should be which one of those boys is going to win coach of the year first? You boys have a great week. Have a happy holiday. Thank you for everything. Thank you, buddy. That's Gus in L. A. I think people looked at Ben Johnson and thought, that's what Chicago is missing. That's what Caleb is missing. Liam Cohen leaving Tampa Bay and going to Jacksonville, that. That's a bigger surprise. But I will argue Kyle Shanahan may have done his best coaching. He won't win coach of the year. Mike Vrabel's up for that as well. The other situation here with Mike Tomlin, that was his 200th win as a head coach, including the playoffs. So he's 53. He's the third youngest coach in NFL history to reach 200 career wins. Curly Lambo and Don Shula are the other two head coaches. Stat of the Day brought to you by Panini America. The official trading cards of the program. By the way, I've seen fear in a boxing ring twice. Once was Mike Tyson against Marvis Frazier, Joe Frazier's son. And I was ringside for that in Atlantic City. I saw true fear on Joe Frazier's son. First. First round when Mike came across and he. He just, if, if he could have said, hey, you win. And I'm. Can I leave now? And with Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua, when he. You can see where Jake Paul realizes, man, did I make a really, really bad mistake here? This is a technical error on my part. And he was trying to make business decisions of staying out of the way, grabbing his leg. I mean, it's. Look, I would never pay for any of that nonsense. And anybody who does, can't complain. But just seeing the highlights, I laughed like Anthony Joshua, that guy, that's all business. And when he. When he's ready to hit him in the jaw and you could see Jake Paul's eyes, like, golly, this is gonna hurt. He had no business being in there. And I know he made a lot of money, but if you want to pony up for that, go get him. Can't do it. Don't care. You know, hey, I'm gonna fight. Who. Who is it? What's the next opponent? Canelo Alvarez. Yeah, he called him out, too, but, I mean, that jaw was broken, I think, in two places. And. And look, he's not looking for sympathy. He's a good business person. It's like, if you buy it, then, okay, it's on you. You know, you buy into the Kardashian nonsense. It's not on them. It's on you. He's just selling. And he's done a great job selling, but that's where you've. Man, oh, man. Like in that jaw. It's like he had a football in it. And that's when you went that. That's what grown ass men do when they fight. Like, those are professional fighters. Those guys are meant to hurt you. Not like Mike Tyson. And then I saw where Tyson talking about a rematch. I go, no, no, we can't do this anymore. God, Mike, no. Nobody wants to see it. Unless you're actually going to punch him. Because I don't think Mike. I think the language was, hey, don't hurt me. And maybe, you know, Mike slips and punches there, but, you know, Joshua. Joshua did everybody a service there. Because now, you know, it's. It's. It's when somebody loses, you lose that mystique. Now, maybe you're not going to pony up and go, you know what? He's got a puncher's chance. Not against someone like that. Yes, Paulie. I watched that fight. I was up late. Did. Yeah, well, see, it was on Netflix. It was free. Yeah, I was up late after the football game, and I was watching, and it was on cruise control for about the first four rounds. It was like, neither of us are going to throw big. And. Oh, he carried him through those first couple of rounds. Yeah. And Jake Paul was grabbing and swinging like a. Like a drowning man. But it got real there at the last. That last round. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Because I know the back room guys were going to bet on it, and they were trying to think, how can I make money on this? And it was like, jake Paul either goes the distance or he gets knocked out because he ain't knocking out Joshua. Yeah, Marvin. Yeah, I saw that. I. I was also up late watching that fight. I watched it with my wife, and my wife's a big Anthony Joshua fan now, also, for different reasons. But. But it was like, Floyd Mayweather, Conor McGregor, like, the first couple of rounds, we're playing around, but then it was like, all right, now I'm a real boxer, and I'm about to show you what a real boxer does. But if Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor actually did UFC that, that's 10 seconds, then it would be awesome. That's what I would love to see. Or let him do both. But still, then, that's interesting. Conor McGregor wasn't gonna. I mean, Floyd Mayweather's tactically one of the greatest boxers in history. You're not going to get hit. Yeah, Paulie, it was. It was interesting because I was like, joshua's going to turn it on here because he's so big and so strong. And when he did it, I'm not saying it was a plan, but it felt like Joshua was letting things go for a while and then say, I'm going to flick the switch. Felt like it was scripted just a little bit, but once again, I just saw the highlights. I couldn't. Even if it's free, Even if it was in my backyard. If it's in your backyard, I don't know if I would have you just walk on back. If it was in my basement at the Christmas party, I probably would have walked by a couple of times. Who wouldn't want to watch? Yes. Tough. Is there any writing in the script or the contract? If someone breaks somebody's jaw, seriously injures them, there's. I'm going to get that many more millions. They got to look into that. And I don't think you would script. And here's where you break the guy's jaw. Yeah. I mean, maybe there's an understanding. You know, I don't want to accuse them of scripting something as much as maybe there is an agreement on certain things that can and can't happen. Rick Newheisel is going to have his college football song for us. More of your phone calls. We'll give you our best and worst of the weekend. Nate Burleson from CBS will stop by as well. What are you doing? You're interrupting our promo. Yeah, he wasn't talking about you. You took those clips totally out of context. Oh, yeah. Now, we were curious if Miami could win on the road. Alabama, Oklahoma, rematch. I mean, there were certain things that we were looking, how would Ole Miss do without Lane Kiffin? But it was about, can James Madison and Tulane keep it competitive in their games? You know that supporters of this, you know, this was validation for these, these schools, proof that the expanded playoff could finally deliver access. But for a lot of the skeptics, it was a ticking time bomb, one that, you know, we were waiting for a bad showing and then the criticism would write itself. It didn't last long. Ole Miss dismantled Tulane by 31. Oregon 17 point win over JMU looks respectable, but it was not that close. You know, the gap in depth and speed, physicality and money was evident. And it's not meant and shouldn't be an indictment on James Madison in Tulane. They, they didn't force their way in. They earned their spots. These are the rules. This is the format. You do this, you get in the response responsibilities on the committee. This isn't on JMU or Tulane. You know, we want the best 12 teams, right? Or do we want an inclusive path here? Like, we got to make up our mind, what do we want? Because JMU and Tulane are not amongst the 12 best teams. They're not, but they did what they were supposed to do. So don't blame them, blame the committee. Yeah, Seaton, I, you know, I felt bad watching those games because, you know that there's that pregame moment and all week leading up to it, really, where we're going to shock the world. We're going to shock. We do our jobs, then nobody can play with us on game day. We do our jobs, we're as good as any team in the country. And then you get out there, it's like, oh, no, we're Not. Yeah, no, we aren't. Well, this is a totally different level than what we just did. We're not on the same tier at all. And then you get the. Well, Boise State against Oklahoma, that was a long time ago. And that's the only game people can reference how much though the game is left. I know, really, that's where you want a running clock there. Let's bring in Rick Neuheisel, CBS Sports college football analyst. Feels like those who didn't want Tulane or James Madison in the playoffs certainly got what they wanted. Oh, I agree. I agree. And I think someday we're going to get to a point where James Mattis and Tulane are going to get to play each other. And we just need to get that game the kind of stage that it deserves. You know, a New Year's Day stage where they can play for a group of five or a group of six, whatever. It ends up becoming national champion. The fact that we're taking players from them, you know, annually, just basically taking their all star team and putting it on the Power 4 rosters with lavish gifts, it makes it difficult for them to compete when they get to this portion of the year. Best team remaining is who? I still think it's Ohio State. I know Ohio State got comfortable not trying to be too explosive offensively and lean into your. Their defense and Indiana kind of exposed them there. But I believe, you know, with Ryan Day now back, probably calling plays heartline spending, just like I said, the Colin Klein dilemma, having to get ready for what's going on at South Florida. I think that, that that Ohio State has the makings of the offense that can win a national championship and they've certainly proven themselves defensively. The best matchup coming up is who. Oh, goodness gracious, I love the Rose Bowl. Indiana. I mean, if you're an Indiana fan, are you just absolutely have red marks all over for the times you've been pinching yourself. Heisman Trophy winner, Heisman Trophy winner. And now the Big Ten championship. You've been to the College Football Playoff now two years in a row. It's too good to be true. And now you're going to the Rose bowl to take on Alabama. I mean, this is like some psychedelic dream that most of these folks had back in their college days. This is too good to be true. First half, social media, Notre Dame fans talking about Alabama, no show, down 17 to nothing. And then they went quiet. The second half there went pretty quiet, pretty fast. Although Brent Venables has got to be sitting there looking at himself in the mirror. Go. What was I doing? 3rd and 5, sending out my kicker to kick into the wind from 51 yards away after he missed a chip shot. Yeah, it was not the Exemplary Head Coaching 101 by Coach Venables, but still a good year and a whale of a comeback. And that's kind of stuff that spurs teams on. I don't know, they're good enough without a running game, but it was certainly a Roll Tide type of evening. All right, you promised a song the last time you were on, so I have it. I have it. Okay. The topic is. Oh, we're in the Christmas time of year, so it will be self explanatory. Hang on for a second as I adjust myself in my. My beautiful studio here. And just remember, my voice sounds a little bit basic. It's just because it's early a.m. where I am. And by adjusting yourself, you mean you're adjusting the guitar that you're playing. The guitar is sitting right here. I had to put you on a speaker so I can do all things. All right, let me give the full introduction. He's a CBS Sports college football analyst. He gave us Born in the SEC Years Ago, the Ballad of Johnny Manziel Years ago. And here he is in the Christmas spirit, Rick Neuheisel. The song is entitled Just Let Him Play College football discombobulated but don't let that get you too frustrated Just sit yourself down and say let them play, let them play, let them play the coaching carousel is spinning and the anus are the only ones grinning but don't you show dismay Let them play, let them play, let them play, Play. When we finally get to the games what show the youngsters put on to be better with da shame Notre Dame soon the season will be gone so don't stress about the coming and going Even though there's no signs of slowing Is giving it proof, we pray Let him play, let him play, let them play the holiday is now upon us and it doesn't take Nostradamus to predict what's on its way Watch and play, Watch and play Watch and play See light drink with said the game is sick he said some kind of greedy pigskin blues Ole Miss wins and Lane gets rich but the check comes from LSU I know it sounds so confounding the sound you hear AB's heads pounding but trust me when I say let them play Let them play, Let them play, Let them play Let them play Watch and play. Yep, you did it again. This is my friend this is where you smash your Guitar, don't you? Isn't that how you end this? Where we smash it for good? Merry Christmas to you. Happy New Year. Thank you again, my friend. Thank you, buddy. Always a treat. Happy holidays. Rick, New Heisel. Ah, he always delivers. I appreciate that. All right, we'll get to our phone. Or our best and worst of the weekend, your phone calls. Paulie has a quick NFL quiz. Now, he hit me with the question this morning, early this morning. And he was talking about great running backs, great quarterbacks, somebody leading the league and rushing. James Cook is quietly leading the league in rushing. And he's, he's a very. That's one of those where you're watching Josh Allen and then you go, that guy's pretty good. That running back is pretty good. And he didn't have the holdout when he was trying to get paid. And I thought he runs, he runs like he's still trying to get paid. And what's he got? 1400 yards, Paulie? Yeah, yeah, he's over 1400. So he could end up, you know, 1600 yards maybe by the end of the year. And you're. So your quiz is best quarterback has the best quarterback in football ever had the leading rusher on his team. So you can even say all pro. Has an all pro quarterback ever had the best running back? What about Lamar Jackson with Derrick Henry? Very good guess by you. So let's say Josh Allen becomes all pro this year or at the very least the opinion is that he's the best quarterback in football. Correct. I would say this year he would be considered. Stafford will be the mvp, but I think people would still look at Josh Allen and so James Cook could lead to the league in rushing in the super bowl era, as an all pro quarterback ever had the leading rusher on his roster that year in the super bowl era. So Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry. Derek Henry was second leading rusher in the NFL last year, but it's a good guess. 2024 All Pro. Lamar Jackson, NFL, second leading rusher. Okay. Derek Henry. Okay. Troy Aikman. Troy Aikman was not an all pro when he had Emmett Smith. Okay. Joe Theisman with John Riggins. Another good guess. No. So here's the thing. It's never happened before. Oh, in the super bowl era. Well, wait a minute. Don't you say wait? It wasn't a trick question when I posted touchdown. However, we're staying with the theme. We need full time producers. So yeah, when we asked it, we assumed there would be one. So the closest was Lamar Jackson. Derek Henry pre Super bowl you had George Bland and Billy Cannon. That was like 1961. So it's Ladanian Thomas who was close back in the day with Philip Rivers. Yep. But Rivers didn't make all pro the year years Thomas had led the NFL. Andy in Rhode Island. Good morning Andy. What's on your mind? Good morning. What's up Dan? It's Dan. I hope y' all are having a great holiday season and a continuation going forward. I have a best and a worst view I'm gonna start off with. The worst is gonna have to be the Duke Blue Devils coughing up a 17 point advantage ahead in the second half and they, you know, cough that up. And my best, it's gonna have to go to Drake May where with his first 300 yard performance of the season of his career, I should add. It just goes to show that yeah, it might not be his time to get mvp, but he's standing up and letting everybody know, hey, I'm here. And then if I can just add a little bonus. Yesterday with the Patriots being down in the fourth quarter, it was the first time in nine years since they came back from an 11 point deficit. And guess who it was against the Atlanta Falcons. A Super Bowl 51. Three teams, Seattle, Chicago, New England rallied from double digit deficits in the fourth quarter to win in week 16. Randall in Virginia. Hi Randall. What up DP? How are you? Good. But hey, happy holidays to you and the Danets. Happy Hanukkah to Fritzi and happy Festiv the rest of us. I have two words for you, but first I want to comment on the Lions call. I haven't seen a plot twist that hard since the last M Night Shyamala film. So the worst of the weekend was the special teams play on the two big time games that we had. The Alabama, Oklahoma and Miami. Texas A and M. I mean you can't make a field goal. Well, it was windy conditions, but you're right, the Miami place kicker, it's a good thing they won that game because that would have been a rough ride home. Second worst JMU Dukes Harrisburg. I'm in Norfolk. Harrisburg is about three hours away. I have a couple of friends that actually went to jmu, a very nice campus. I thought they would put up a fight, at least a better fight than Tulane. After that first quarter I thought they might have had a shot, but it all went downhill from there. Yeah, you know, once again everybody's going to say the same thing about JMU and Tulane. It's not their fault. The committee, they're the ones that allowed this to happen. They earned those bids. You may not like it. It wasn't like, hey, we got names in a hat. Pick it out. Oh, JMU in Tulane. Sorry. Notre Dame and Vandy. Not their fault. It's not your fault. It's not your fault. Goodwill hunting. Yeah, yeah. Goodwill hunting. It's not your fault. It's not your fault. It's not your fault. There's that moment where he's going. It's not your rabway sweater. It's not your fault. Actual audio that is. That's that name. All right. It's not your fault, kid. All right. A champ. It's not your fault. Champ. It's not your fault. All right, let me take a break. It's weird to look at the Eagles as underdogs and man did they turn it on against the Commanders. Now, granted it's the Commanders without Jaden Daniels, but still they it's kind of weird how they fell out of the, you know, national conversation and it's like, yeah, but they're going to have one of those games. And Jalen hurts going to have one of those games. And but the Rams and the Seahawks, is there a way for the 49ers to have the number one seed in the NFC? Paulie There absolutely is. They need a little bit of help, but they mostly can help themselves. The Niners are 10 and 4. The Seahawks are 12 and 3. The 49ers host Philip Rivers tonight. So you think that could be a win? They're I'm sorry, they're at the Colts. They host the Bears next week, which would knock the Bears out of the first seed. And then they host the Seahawks to end the season. If the Rams can lose one and they beat the Seahawks, the 49ers would have the number one seed. Yeah, but the Rams don't have a tough schedule. I think they have Cardinals, Falcons. Yeah, there's a way, though. Jlab.com Todd Best and Worst of the Weekend Best of the Weekend Miami Hurricanes running back Mark Fletcher Jr. Ran for a career high 172 yards on 17 carries Saturday against a M. He broke one for 55 yards leading to the game, winning an OLI TD at College Station. Worst which we mentioned a number of times today in bad losses to Ole Miss in Oregon, Tulane and James Madison not being competitive at all. Sadly, it leaves college football fans everywhere wondering what Notre Dame, Texas, Vandy, BYU type schools might have done in that first round. Seaton Best and Worst My best of the weekend is Panthers rookie safety Lathan Ransom. He was my worst of the weekend last week. He's just a week away from having just a brutal, unnecessary roughness penalty that cost the Panthers the game. Basically. Now this week he's kind of going from zero to hero. Got himself first NFL interception intercepting Baker Mayfield to seal the game. That's really, really great. Good for him. My worst of the weekend is sort of how with each week that's ticking by, the Christmas slate of NFL games just gets worse and worse. Cowboys commanders, you got Lions Vikings, Broncos, Chiefs. Yeah, a lot of good brand names in there, but man, those are not good teams. They'll still dominate the NBA though. Oh, for sure. Yeah. Marvin. Best in Worst of the weekend. Best of the weekend. Jalen Warren, Steelers running back, 14 carries, 143 yards. Did you hear Paulie this morning? Before we were even on the show, he said this. Did you steal it? I always go last. Did you take it from. I. I did not. Okay, okay. Just a coincidence. Front row, worst of the weekend. This guy should be breathing a sigh of relief. Miami kicker. We talked about this earlier. Carter Davis, missing three field goals. They only won this game by seven points. You know, Lucky. Yeah. Paulie, Best and worst. Let me come up with something here. I'm going to go with the Chargers, o' Mary and Hampton. I love that he's back for them. I think that makes them really dangerous. He only had 85 yards, but. But 150 yards overall rushing for the Chargers and a really nice win. And then the other best of the weekend, the FCS playoffs. Montana State handled Montana. What great setting that was. And then Illinois State takes down Villanova. So that sets up Monday, January 5, ESPN. Illinois State versus Montana State for the FCS championship. Jay in Delaware. Hi, Jay. What's on your mind? Hey, Dan. Merry Christmas to you and the fellas. My first point, best week in sports to me, professional boxing. One thing Jake Paul did is he brought eyes back to boxing. But the worst part about it is he finally met a real boxer. And Jake Paul admitted himself last week that he went away from his cardio and put on a lot of muscle and weight to get into this fight. And being a big guy who used to box, there's one thing you can't do is go up and wait class. It never ends well. Anthony Joshua had been at that weight, so he, he timed and he. You could see the smile on his face when he set up Jake Paul. Like, literally, there's a freeze frame of Anthony Joshua's face when he set him up. Yeah, but it brought eyes to boxing, but it wasn't a good product to bring eyes to. That's. That's the problem I have with it, Jay. I mean, I'm, I'm a big fan of boxing, but it's actual boxing that I'm a fan of. Not somebody who is just, you know, being a social media influencer, getting in the ring and, and look, he's a great marketer. He is. Can't argue with that. I don't think he's a great boxer. I mean, he got in there against somebody who was real and you saw what happened when real guys throw real punches. It really hurts. Thank you, Jay. Yeah. Not bringing boxing back. Yeah. Paul. Yeah, I tend to agree with you. I don't these exhibition fights aren't part of a boxing resurgence. It doesn't put any spotlight on if there were real flight fights around him. Like if you put some type of, you know, middleweight championship fight as a primer and did a spillover. Sure. But they're not doing that. Yeah. If you got boxers who got in the ring and got some recognition who don't normally get it, but you want to introduce them, then great. But I Jake Paul doesn't mean anything to me when I go, boy, you know, Hagler, Hearns, Leonard, Jake Paul. I mean, come on. Evander Holyfield did go up in weight and became a champ. Doesn't happen too often, though. Nate Burleson, popular analyst for cbs, will join us. Coming up, more of your phone calls.
