You are listening to the Dan Patrick show on Fox Sports Radio, hour two on this Thursday. Dan and the Danettes Dan Patrick show got baseball today and tonight and you got football. The Eagles, seven point favorites against the Giants. Good morning. If you're watching on Peacock, that's our streaming partner and we say good morning to our radio affiliates around the country. I'm trying to ease into retirement in a couple of years and Paulie just keeps packing things on my schedule, on my agenda here. I'm trying to get a couple of guys into the Pro Football hall of Fame. Mel Kuiper, I want him in the Pro Football hall of Fame. Barry Melrose, into the Hockey hall of Fame. And then Paulie goes, I think we gotta, we gotta help Don Mattingly. He's only got two more years where he's eligible. Can we get him into the Baseball hall of Fame? Yeah. Paulie. Dan, I think again, two and a half years left, you've done a lot of good work with the football community. I think it's time to pivot to baseball. Don Mattingly at one time was the most feared hitter in baseball. And he had a six year run of excellence. And then he started getting nicked up and he wasn't as good. And it was much harder to make the postseason back then. It wasn't the wild card. He would have made four more postseasons. But his down years were 288, 291, 304. Those are his last three seasons. And I'll give you a couple names as long as you're doing these. We mentioned this guy before, Steve Garvey. You can't make 10 all star teams and not go to the hall of Fame. There's got to be some type of rule against that. Apparently you can. Yeah, apparently you can. And I'll throw one more. We could do this all at one shot. Dale Murphy won back to back MVPs. If he did that in football, he'd probably be first ballot. He almost had. I think if, I think if he ended up with 450 home runs, he, he was like 398. I think. Paulie. What? You're right. It's 398. But it, it's, there's no difference. He was the same guy. I know, I know. And, and not one. Maybe the nicest guy I ever met in sports, Dale Murphy, but I just don't know. And I know he went from being a catcher to center fielder and he, he played on some interesting Teams, but I just don't think, you know, there wasn't postseason play and felt like he had two incredible years, but that's all we remember. Yes, Marvin. Yeah, we gotta fight for some of these guys because we're getting away from the compiling, getting into the hall of Fame to how great were you at the peak of your powers a la Kurt Warner and Terrell Davis? So how great were you, Steve? Steve Garvey should be in the hall of Fame. He should be. I mean, you play for the Dodgers. I think he was a very good postseason player. 10 all star appearances. You know, this isn't the Pro bowl. This is 10 all star appearances. Yes, Paulie. You know, and the phrase hall of Fame, if you want to talk about famous ballplayers, throw Steve Garvey, Don Mattingly and Dale Murphy in the mix. They were household names at one time in their career. You know, Roger Maris is not in the hall of Fame, is he? No. Back to back MVPs with the Yankees and you can't make the hall of Fame. Yeah, but he just didn't have great numbers. Like, there's a certain threshold where I think you have to get there. Now back in the old days, you'd have guys who would make the hall of Fame and you'd go with those stats. It's just different. And I do think that we look at these numbers and we want to be wowed by numbers. And I think, you know, for a lot of these guys, we're not wowed. Davey Concepcion, to me, I mean, he invented fielding on Astroturf and throwing that one hop from deep short and he played for the Big Red Machine. He should be in the hall of Fame. But I'm more lenient when it comes to this. Yeah, Paulie, I'm gonna go back to Steve Garvey for those. Don't remember him with the Dodgers and the Padres in the 70s and 80s. 10 all star appearances. Right. He's got. He hit.294 for his career. He's a two time NLCS MVP. He was hit.340 in the postseason. I can't think of a reason not to put him in the hall of Fame at this point. Yeah. And you know, maybe the veterans committee can help remedy this. Yes. Eaton. We kind of sounds like they were making the case for a very, very strong hall of Very Good. Well, they're definitely the hall of Very Very Good. It sounds like Steve Garvey is an elite level hall of Very gooder. Well, can you, can you have like the lowest of low hall of Famer, where it's. He's hall of Fame. Ish. But he got into the hall of Fame. Can we, like, like, let's be fair to the bottom rung of the hall of Fame, like, in the top rung, like, being the smallest state. You're Delaware. You know, you're a state just like anybody else. Still a state. Yes, Todd. I think anyone on the fence about Steve Garry should take into account his handsomeness and his forearms and then just put it over the top and he goes into Cooperstown. All right, fair point. Thank you, Todd. By the way, from the crew that brought you the office comes a new comedy of underdogs with major issues. No, it's not about us. It's the paper. Streaming now, only on Peacock. So baseball coming up tonight, I don't know why, the Dodgers are starting at 06:08 Eastern Time, 03:08 Pacific Time. Those shadows are going to play a big role in that game. So Phillies at the Dodgers, and you have the brewers at the Cubs. Brewers. Cubs is two hours later. I would have thought you might switch those two, but then I'm not sure what baseball's thinking. And three hours later, but two hours with the time zone. So locally, it's two hours. Todd, can you check with Major League Baseball? Just ask why the Dodgers are playing at 308 local? Sure. Yeah. Because I, I'm sure there's a reason for this, but I would have thought maybe, you know, would it. I want to see the Dodgers, Phillies. I would think the nation would want to see that over a local rivalry with the Cubs and the Brewers. But that's why these TV executives and commissioners get the big bucks. 8773 DP show email address dp@danpatrick.com Twitter handle @dpshow so the Phillies bats came to life last night, and Clayton Kershaw paid the price. Schwaber went deep twice. The Yankees, they're done. Blue Jays close them out. And the Tigers and Mariners, that's a great series. I don't know if people are watching, but. And it's on in the afternoon, east coast time. It's been great. So Tigers, Mariners tied it two games apiece. Yesterday when I got done with the show, I started, you know, checking out some different towns up in Maine, and I saw one that had merchandise, it had memorabilia. So I all of a sudden walk by the window and I if you're watching on Peacock, I got my Shohei Ohtani jersey that's got what looks like little paint splatters on it. But it's, it's sharp. So I, I was walking by, it's got World series champs in 2024. And I got my Shohei Otani jersey. Now, not signed, by the way. This one I got signed, I was walking by and I saw this one in the window as well. This is Ricky Williams jersey when he was with the Dolphins. But if you look closely, he autographed it and it says at the very bottom of his number, smoke weed every day. So I got. That means it's official Ricky Williams smoke weed every day jersey. I've got it all now. Yes, Eaton. I think that's what they mean by a certificate of authenticity right there. That's ex. That's how you know. Yeah, Smoke weed every day. And then he autographed that. So that spent a couple hundred bucks. And I'll bring them back to the man cave. Yes. Paul, how does an autographed Ricky Williams jersey end up in rural Maine? That's a. Interesting path. Well, you get people who go to these places in New York and Boston and then they bring, I, you know, weed is big in Maine, so maybe they figured somebody. I'm not a pothead Focker, but I just thought that's a great autograph there by, by Ricky. Smoke weed every day. Yes, Paul. Ricky Williams, by the way, is in the hall of guys who should be in the hall of Fame but their careers got dismantled. He, at age 25, he ran for 1900 yards and 16 touchdowns. He was first team all pro. And then two years later he's out of football and he had to go back and forth and back and forth. Pot became more important to him and like he went on these sojourns and, you know, just go camping and get high. And I don't know what he's doing now, but probably not a whole lot more there different than what he was doing before. Yes, Paul. Yeah, that was 2004. If he played in the NFL now with their lax testing rules, he'd probably never miss a game. Do that. I'm being serious. He probably would have just cruised on with his career. Oh yeah, he probably would have, you know, stayed playing, but, you know. So that's my latest addition to the memorabilia collection that we have in the man cave. All right, Seaton poll question for hour one, the final results. And what, what are we going to go with an hour two, worst way to lose a playoff baseball game. Strikeout. Looking grounding into a double play err on the field or give up the game winning home run right now. Strikeout looking is in the lead, followed very closely by error in the field. Yeah, I agree with that. I agree with that. And you give up a home run. You give up a home run. I know it's replayed forever, but you got to have the bat off your shoulder. You can't just be there and take it looking. Or you have an embarrassing error. What's poll question for hour two? Got one here from the Todd. You see, with the Yankees eliminated, how much more interested are you in baseball? Postseason? Very or less you? Much more interested now that the Yankees are out or are you less interested? I'm not much more interested because the Yankees are out. I would still want to see them. I mean, I want to see Aaron Judge. So I. I'm not more interested that the best player in, you know, the American League is not playing in a series. I'm guessing what Todd's getting at here is it's boring to see the Yankees dominate or always be dominated in a long time. Well, maybe they're not necessarily winning, but they are kind of always in the mix winning. And they're talked about a lot. Win, lose or draw. This, you know, you can't keep talking about the Yankees while there's other teams still alive in the playoffs, I guess. Yeah, but you brought this question up. I did. And I'm like, I'm seeing that. I've seen. Probably expressed it better than I did. That's why I came up with that. There are people that are maybe more interested because, great, the Yankees are out of it. Maybe I'm gonna take more of a peek at baseball. So I'm sick of the Pinstripes and the Bronx Bombers and, you know, other. Other teams, even though it's been since 2009, since they won the whole thing. Yeah, but you have people tune in to watch Notre Dame lose, to watch Duke lose, and you might tune in to watch the Yankees lose. But I. I'm not less interested because I still would want to see Aaron Judge. Yes, it is funny to see all these fan bases, like Red Sox fans and Mets fans were celebrating yesterday. Celebrating like, ha, ha. Yankees lost. We won. Yeah. Somehow I feel better about my year. The Blue Jays beat the Yankees. Toronto has scored 34 runs in the playoffs. That's the fourth most by any team through its first four postseason games in baseball history. Vlad Guerrero hit.529 with three homers. Aaron Judge ended up this postseason batting.507 RBIs and five runs scored. Get a couple of phone calls in here. We'll talk to Ross Tucker, he'll get us ready for the Eagles and the Giants. What kind of offense are we expecting to see with the Eagles tonight? Because it feels like we're going to run the ball now. We're going to pass the ball now. We got to plate cater wide receivers. Now, both of our star receivers are not happy with the game plan here, but through it all, you could probably make the argument that they're still the best team in the nfc. See Heather in Indianapolis leads us off. Good morning, Heather. What's on your mind? Good morning, guys. First time, long time. Five nine at a medium 175. So Notre Dame versus USC. Dan. And Dan, I'm taking my husband for his first visit ever to Notre Dame and the game, but only because you and the Danettes are going to be there. I know you guys are broadcasting from legends and I'll be there with my new pass hole shirt which will be appropriate as my husband likes to camp in that left lane, especially when towing the camper. But I hope more details come out about how early we need to be lined up to get in. Also, just wanted to give a shout out to our state of Indiana. I feel like we're glowing in sports right now, Dan. The Colts are ranked number one. IU is undefeated. Notre Dame is Notre Dame. The fever on fire this year. The paces are looking great even without Hallelujah. And our local Brownsburg Bulldog High school football team is ranked 22 in the nation. Purdue might be good at something this year, but just a great vibe in Indiana. All righty. Thank you, Heather. We look forward to seeing you. We'll give you details and probably on Monday I'll get a better lay of the land of when to show up, where to show up, all of those different things. But Cat in Seattle. Hi, Cat. What's on your mind? Hey, good morning. Five eight, toned 140. I have a husband, Todd, who is celebrating the big five zero today and his birthday wish is to know Yalls favorite sandwiches. But I'd love to hear any words of wisdom you have for a man coming into this next decade of life. Oh, turning 50 is awesome. You know, now all of a sudden you people look to you for wisdom. Now they, they, you know, when you say things, there's more respect. It feels like, well, he's 50. As far as my favorite sandwich. Favorite sandwich. Todd, I'll start with you. As much as I love like a corned beef pastrami Reuben kind of thing with the, with the Thousand island judge, I'm going to go a chicken Parm hero would have to be my number one. A nice big chicken palm here. Okay, Seaton, favorite sandwich? Well, it's the first thing that popped in my head because it is probably the greatest sandwich ever made, but it's almost more like a meal. But an Italian beef sandwich is as good as anything can possibly be. Okay, Marvin, grilled cheese sandwich. Ooh, simple. Paul, this is by far the toughest question I've ever been asked in my life. Barely joking. Seaton, through the curveball of Italian beef at me. I'm gonna go chicken cutlet with mozzarella and prosciutt and olive oil. Nice balsamic. That's my one seed. I think I'm going peanut butter and jelly. I've fallen back in love with PB and J. What if we said meat related sandwiches? Oh, meat related. Marvin said grilled cheese. Oh, grilled cheese with tomato soup. Can't go wrong. That was a staple in the household every Friday. Yes. Dynamite combo. Those two right there. What if we only did a cold sandwich? Cold sandwich. Yeah, we all went with hot sandwiches. But what if you could only do like, a ham and cheese or a turkey sandwich or, you know, more traditional lunch fare? I'd go turkey club. Turkey club. What if you had to pick a sandwich that wasn't what the choice of 8 year olds like grilled cheese and peanut butter and jelly. Coming from an 8 year old. Coming from an 8 year old, I couldn't resist. Grilled cheese, peanut butter, jelly, bologna. Maybe it's an 80 year old, not an 8 year old. Life does go full circle like that. It does when your teeth are too sensitive. You can't. I can't chew on that. That steak is hurting me. I get a fruit punch with that. How about a nice Hawaiian punch? You piling on me? I'm just playing. How's a Friday feel? To show I'm trying to create a Friday, though. I don't know. No, no, no, no. I don't want to speed up. Friday, Fritzi. Friday is enough sandwich in the world. You guys said peanut butter and jelly. Grilled cheese. Someone had to say something, so I took it upon myself. Baton. I'm very simple. Said what needed to be said. That's all I'm gonna say. I'm gonna drop it there. Jelly of grilled cheese. I'm gonna talk on top of you. You know, I'm gonna keep talking over you. Okay, Are you done? Yeah, I'm done. Are you dumb? I'm dumb and done. An orange high sea, please. Lava burst. Okay, let me take a break. We'll talk some football. Ross Tucker, our good buddy, will join us coming up. We're back after this in the Dan Patrick Show. It may look different, but Native culture is very alive. My name is Nicole Garcia and on Burn Sage, Burn Bridges, we aim to explore that culture. It was a huge honor to be kind a television writer because it does feel oddly like very traditional. It feels like Bob Dylan going electric, that this is something we've been doing for like hundreds of years. You carry with you a sense of purpose and confidence. That's Sierra Taler Ornelas, who with Rutherford Falls became the first Native showrunner in television history. On the podcast Burn Sage, Burn Bridges, we explore her story along with other Native stories such as the creation of the first Native Comic Con or the importance of reservation basketball. Every day, Native people are striving to keep traditions alive while navigating the modern world, influencing and bringing our culture into the mainstream. Listen to Burn Sage, Burn bridges on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman, host of the Psychology podcast. Here's a clip from an upcoming conversation about exploring human potential. I was going to schools to try to teach kids these skills. And I get eye rolling from teachers or I get students who would be like, it's easier to punch someone in the face. When you think about emotion regulation, like, you're not going to choose an adaptive strategy which is more effortful to use unless you think there's a good outcome as a result of it, if it's going to be beneficial to you. Because it's easy to say like, like you go blank yourself, right? It's easy. It's easy to just drink the extra beer. It's easy to ignore, to suppress seeing a colleague who's bothering you and just like walking the other way. Avoidance is easier. Ignoring is easier. Denial is easier. Drinking is easier. Yelling, screaming is easy. Complex problem solving, meditating, you know, takes effort. Listen to the psychology podcast on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. But the humility in knowing that life is his classroom that we should never graduate from is what is going to keep you growing. And that's all that matters. World Mental Health Day is around the corner and on my podcast just heal with Dr. J, I dive into what it really means to care for your mind, body and spirit. Jason versus Freddy, Michael Myers versus the Alien Thing with the Little Tongue Monster. October. We're doing it Halloween style Listen to the Trap Nurse podcast from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcast. I don't think it's going to be an aerial display tonight. Giants and the Eagles DraftKings has Jackson dart over under 177 and a half passing yards. Jalen hurts over under 195 and a half. The Eagles are favored by seven at New York. He's Ross Tucker, CBS Sports and Westwood One NFL college football analyst and he is the host of the Ross Tucker Football Podcast. He called the Niners Rams last weekend, Air Force and Navy as well. He's got the Monday night game between the Bears and the Commanders. Always good to see Ross. What do you expect out of this Eagle offense now? Because I I'm confused that they're still, it seems like, trying to find their identity of what kind of offense they are or they want to be. I think, Dan, that they're going to get back to what they had success with last year, which is running the football. Now they have not run it as well this year as they did last year. I think the biggest reason for that is probably the offensive line, you know, for whatever reason, and there's a couple of them. They have not performed as well as it did last year. I thought last year they were pretty clearly the best offensive line in the NFL. This year they haven't been. I don't even know if they're a top five unit with how they played. You had guys like Juergens at center, Lana Dickerson at left guard who's now out again coming off of major surgeries. You have a new right guard and Tyler Steen and it just has not looked the same as it did last year. Although in fairness they also only gave Saquon Barkley the ball one time last week against Denver when they had a two touchdown lead. My guess is that going against the Giants run defense, that's been really bad for a while. And Saquon yet again playing against his former team in a primetime game. This feels to me like a Saquon Barkley breakout game. Like a big Saquon Barkley game. You would think if they were going to do it, tonight would be the night. So this would be a market correction with the Eagles. I would think so. Listen, they're just too talented to not be better on offense. I mean, we said this last year, but last year they had the best running back in the sport. They had the best offensive line in the sport. They had one of the two or Three best wide receiver duos. They had a top five, tight end, Super Bowl MVP quarterback. Those guys are all still there. You know, they had 10 of the 11 starters returning this year. So I think sometimes since they don't play in the preseason at all, teams are playing them a little bit differently, I guess. I don't know when it'll fully click, Dan, but I. I would be surprised if in December when I come on with you, we're still talking about the Eagles issues offensively. I think they have a new offensive coordinator that makes a difference. Some guys aren't playing as well as they did last year and defenses are playing them differently as they should, and they're kind of trying to figure out the best plan of attack. How much of an upgrade is Joe Flacco for the Bengals? You know, that's a great question. I'm not sure because a couple years ago I thought Browning was outstanding for the Bengals as their backup and really played well. I mean, there's a reason why he's been the backup the last couple years because of how well he did, whatever that was. I think it was 2023, you know, he did so well. They were pretty happy with him as a backup. I think the Bengals, I don't want to say caught flat footed. Damn. I think they were surprised that he didn't play better. I. I think they really thought he's been in the system for a few years, he played well when given the opportunity in 2023. It's kind of stunning. Maybe even it sounds like to Browning, the way based on how he's talking, that he didn't play better. The Flacco thing is fascinating because I think that they are trying to give their fans and maybe even the locker room some hope. You know, it's not an organization that likes to really spend and they went out and they're. They're paying Hendrickson and Chase and Higgins, they don't want to give up on this year yet. They're still suggesting that Joe Burrow could come back later in the year. I would just say this, Dan. I highly doubt it. I mean, I highly doubt we will see Joe Burrow this season. I guess if Flacco can surprise us and they're still in the playoff race in December, then maybe Burrow would try to come back at that point. But I don't think they'll still be in the playoff race at that point. I don't think Flacco will play that well. I think if Flacco was playing that well, he would still be the quarterback in Cleveland, although he also didn't have these receivers. You know, we've seen Flacco a couple years ago when he took the Browns the playoffs, thrown all over the place. I know this much, Dan. He's 40. He's made over $200 million. He doesn't care. I mean, it should be entertaining as heck. I'm hoping that Flacco just chucks it to Higgins and Chase and that the Bengals become very, very entertaining. If nothing else, the Brown situation, they've moved on. Now, where you ship Flacco to Cincinnati, now you have your two rookies in there. And I thought Dylan Gabriel handled being overseas your first start and against a complex defense like the Vikings. But I just wonder and. And the Browns are doing what I was hoping they would do it. Let's give these two kids enough of a Runway where we're going to find out if they're a starting quarterback. Maybe they're destined to be a backup quarterback. But what do you make of this situation of the. Are the Browns saying, we're waiting until next year already by making this move, by getting rid of Flacco? They are very clearly. You know, they always say we have one eye on the president, one eye on the future. Well, the Browns at this point have like a magnifying glass on that eye. That's looking at the future. I mean, just look at the trades they've made this week. Okay, you move on from Flacco. You're not doing that because you're trying to win more games this year. You're doing that because you want to take a look at both Gabriel and Shador Sanders. And I do think Shador, unless Gabriel plays very, very well, I would imagine that we would see Shador for at least three or four games this year. Because I think they want to know at the end of this year, is Gabriel 1, 2 or 3? Is Shadora 1, 2 or 3? What do we have? And then they make this trade yesterday with the Jaguars flopping cornerbacks. Think about that. Okay? Why would they do that? Because Greg Newsom is a free agent after this season. They probably don't want to pay Greg Newsom the huge money he's going to get. Tyson Campbell, meanwhile, got his big contract before last season. The Jaguars have already given him the big bonus, already given him a lot of the guaranteed money. So now the Browns have Tyson Campbell cost controlled for the rest of this year, 2026, 2027. So the Browns, I think, are making some shrewd moves to set themselves up to be as competitive as possible next year. And that includes finding out what they have with Gabriel and Chador. It's kind of funny because obviously, Dan, they want Gabriel to play as well as possible. I mean, hopefully Gabriel's a starter and they love him, but they also kind of, I think, want to see what Shador has at some point. So that will be really interesting to see. I mean, it wasn't that surprising when they moved on from Flacco to Gabriel. I think it will be actually interesting when they move on from Gabriel to Shador if that happens. Ross Tucker CBS Sports Westwood 1 analyst the Ross Tucker Football Podcast how important is this game Sunday, the Chiefs and the Lions for Kansas City? I'd say vary at this point. You know, now they're fortunate that the Broncos have lost a couple close ones and that the Chargers are so beat up as always. I mean, Dan, there's certain teams, the Niners, the Chargers, the Lions. I don't, I mean, I heard you talking about DraftKings earlier. We should all, every year just bet the over injuries for those three teams. It's unbelievable. And so now the Chargers are in a bad spot. So that makes it it a little bit more palatable for the Chiefs. But you still can't go to 2 and 4, right? I mean, what they're looking like they're headed for is having to win some road playoff games, which they did a couple years ago. But this is a big game. I, I think they don't want to get to 2 and 4. 3 and 3 is a lot different and I really like the Chiefs in this game quite a bit. The Lions are just getting too beat up again. You know, they're missing a couple D linemen, but now they're down Terry and Arnold at corner, so they're without their top corners right when Mahomes. And the Chiefs passing game is starting to click a little bit with Xavier Worthy. They'll get Rasheed Rice back soon. I think the second half of the year we're going to see probably the best Chiefs offense we've seen in a couple years. How does Baker Mayfield win MVP keep doing what he's doing? I mean, he's got my vote right now, you know, because not only is he playing awesome, he's just so fun to watch. Why can't every guy be like Baker? It is funny though, because when he was in Cleveland and would act certain ways, people would say he was brash or immature. You know, now that he's winning and he's with the Bucks now it's moxie and guts, you know, like he said, I'm still acting the same. I'm just playing better. And there's a lot of truth to that. But love watching him. Listen, they have been so beat up on their offensive line and they haven't had a game yet with both Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. When they get get back at right tackle and then they have Mike Evans, Godwin and A Booka at receiver. And we might need to start talking about the Bucks as being as much of a favorite to go to the super bowl from the NFC as anybody. You can put Detroit in there, Green Bay, the Eagles, whoever. When, when the Bucks are healthy. I think they're as good as anybody. Before I let you go, do you ever have a moment like the coach treating you the way Jonathan Gannon acted on the sidelines with the Cardinals? Did anybody ever put their hands on you, get in your face? No, I don't ever remember that. And I think that's a really, really good thing, Dan, because, you know, even though I'm smaller now and I'm more mild tempered, I guess when, when you're out there, okay, I thought Dan, in my head for those three hours, I thought I was the biggest, baddest dude in the world. And I had to have that mentality to be able to compete with those guys. I was going against. I was ready, and I often did hit anything that moved. We can't get in a scenario where coaches are touching NFL players. That's not going to go well for the coaches a lot of times. I mean, I think he's fortunate that D. Mercado was, you know, took it that way and I guess was sad. But there are other guys, don't I. It's hard to see from the video exactly what he did, but that would not go well. If you look at it over time, if there's a lot of coaches touching a lot of players, that will not go well for the coaches and could lead to some really, really ugly incidents. We were asked our favorite sandwiches. Sure. You being an aficionado of both hot and cold sandwiches, would you like to give us your favorites? Yeah, I mean, my favorite cold sandwich is just any type of Italian sub. Absolutely love it. I mean, you can heat it up if you want, but, you know, the pepperoni, the salami, the capicola, American cheese, spicy mustard, obviously, which, by the way, there are still some restaurants out there and sandwich shops that don't have deli or spicy mustard, and they're literally selling deli sandwiches. They're very well Known they might be a sponsor, so I won't call them out. The hot sandwich. Everybody already knows the greatest sandwich of all time is the Sausage McMuffin with egg from McDonald's. Everybody knows this. There shouldn't be a debate. Sausage McMuffin with Egg from McDonald's. Still undefeated. The greatest hot sandwich of all time. I used to get three. Now I only get two because I'm crazy healthy. Great to talk to you. Thank you for giving us those great sandwich suggestions. Oh, Paulie. Paulie's got his head in his hand right now. He's so disappointed. Ross, you're so much better than that. In what way? What? I love a sausage, egg and cheese, but there's bigger, better ones out there and you should know that. Like what? I'm just saying. I love the sandwich choice. Sausage, egg and cheese. But McDonald's not necessarily the best. It's delicious. You haven't had one in a long time. That's true. Yes. Seaton Paul likes his sausage, egg and cheese a little more bespoke. Yeah. A nicer bread, a nicer sausage. Yeah. Range free. I want it to be actually more like in a crummy deli. I'm also fine with a deli that looks like it's not up to code. Thank you, Ross. Great to talk to you boys. Have a great weekend. That's Ross Tucker. He's host of the Ross Tucker football podcast. It may look different, but native culture is very alive. My name is Nicole Garcia, and on Burn Sage, burn Bridges, we aim to explore that culture. It was a huge honor to become a television writer because it does feel oddly like very traditional. It feels like Bob Dylan going electric that this is something we've been doing for hundreds of years. You carry with you a sense of purpose and confidence. That's Sierra Taller Ornelas, who, with Rutherford Falls, became the first Native showrunner in television history. On the podcast Burn Sage, Burn Bridges, we explore her story along with other Native stories, such as the creation of the first Native Comic Con or the importance of Reservation basketball. Every day, Native people are striving to keep traditions alive while navigating the modern world, influencing and bringing our culture into the mainstream. Listen to Burn Sage, Burn bridges on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman, host of the Psychology Podcast. Here's a clip from an upcoming conversation about exploring human potential. I was going to schools to try to teach kids these skills and I get eye rolling from teachers or I get students who would be like, it's easier to punch someone in the face when you think about emotion, Reg. Like, you're not going to choose an adaptive strategy which is more effortful to use unless you think there's a good outcome as a result of it, if it's going to be beneficial to you. Because it's easy to say, like, go blank yourself, right? It's easy. It's easy to just drink the extra beer. It's easy to ignore, to suppress seeing a colleague who's bothering you and just like, walk the other way. Avoidance is easier. Ignoring is easier. Denial is easier. Drinking is easier. Yelling, screaming is easy. Complex problem solving. Meditating, you know, takes effort. Listen to the Psychology podcast on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. But the humility in knowing that life is this classroom that we should never graduate from is what is going to keep you growing. And that's all that matters. I asked Fritzy, would you reach out to Major League Baseball and ask them why The Dodgers game four is going to be at 3pm local time in Los Angeles? And the response we got was Eagles game tonight at 8:15 Eastern. So trying to to have them not completely overlap. So you got the Dodgers that'll start and then you'll have the Eagles game and then the Cubs and the brewers will be starting a little after that as well. So I guess staggered start. I was just surprised that the Dodgers and the Shadows will play a big role at Dodger stadium for a 3 o' clock local time start. Let's see. Mike in Wisconsin. Hi Mike. What's on your mind? Hey, good morning, Dan. Thanks for taking my call. Two things for you today. You mentioned earlier, Kyle Schwaber hit his 23rd postseason home run last night, which puts him third on the all time list. But I have to point out second on that list with 27 home runs is Jose Altuve. But he hit seven of those in 2017 on Fritz. He's cheaters, so that doesn't really count. And then speaking of Fritzi, you guys had mentioned possibly doing a podcast with them. I think if you did a collab with Fritzi and Stu Gotts, that might be that might be the most entertaining podcast on the planet. All right, well, I'll take that under advisement there. Fritzi with Stu Gotz from the Dan LeBatard Show. Jake in Florida. Hi Jake. What's on your mind? Good morning, Dan. Second. Excuse me? Second time long time. Six foot two forty. We're talking. You're talking. Don Magnally, just a little while ago. I'm actually me and Don Mangley share the same hometown of Evansville, Indiana. Couple quick stats, Quick stats of Don. Throughout his career, he went to Memorial High School, which is a parochial school in Evansville. Throughout his four year career, the Memorial Tigers, he batted. Jake. Jake, I. I don't want to open up a scrapbook here. Okay. I'm sure he had great high school stats. So did I. Okay. We're just talking about the hall of Fame, and you're not getting into the hall of Fame based off your high school stats, but thank you. Thank you for calling Mark in Georgia. Hi, Mark. What's on your mind? Hey, Mark. Hello. Hello. A player's entire career is the criteria for inclusion into the Hall. But every now and then that criteria seems to get jettisoned in favor of some dramatic or iconic moment. I grew up a Pirates fan, and that makes me think about Madison's 1960 home run against the Yankees. So this is where I kind of think the veterans committee goes wrong a little bit. Leaning in a little bit too much on sentimentality. But, you know, if Maz doesn't hit that home run, he's not even in the conversation. No. And. And you will have people and thank you for the phone call that, you know, don't think that Mazarovsky is a Hall of Famer. Didn't have the numbers, but he hit one of the most important home runs in baseball history. Lucas in Texas. Hi, Luke, what's on your mind? Hey, Dan, Good morning. Morning. You know, I've made it clear for many years I'm an Astros fan. So first off, the caller a few callers ago, you know, suck at that guy, but whatever. Hey, I love baseball. I love baseball overall. And I will say, outside of my own fandom, I have to say there's nothing quite like listening to Wrigley Field after a playoff win. And I think the TV networks do a really good job of letting go Cubs go play. And you kind of hear that in the background. It's awesome. And that got me thinking, is that unique in American pro sports? I mean, college does it really? Well, you know, they have songs, Rocky Top or something. And like international football teams, you know, Liverpool has you'll never walk alone like American teams like their fly Eagles fly. Frissie loves to do his Knicks rap or anything. But it really made me think, does any pro team in America have a customized song for that team that fits them as well as go Cubs go, especially after a playoff win in October? Well, you have the Red Sox with Sweet Caroline. Not exactly a fight song, but it's it's their seventh inning stretch. The Bulls with that home music. What was that, the Alan Parsons Project? Yep. With that introduction with Jordan and company, I was, you know, it's got to be anthemic where you hear it and it belongs in that stadium and I, I think that's where it stands out now. You know, college football has done a great job with that, a variety of those, but trying to think if there's any other ones where you go, oh, that's awesome to hear that or hear that in the context of a big moment, a big game. Trevor in Orlando. Hi Trevor. What's on your mind? Hey Dan, how's it going? 6, 2, 2, 20. Yesterday you were talking about quarterbacks making tackles after interceptions. I think Paulie brought up Cam Newton. Heard his short was never really the same after making a tackle about 20 years ago. Warren Sapp blindside hit that lineman on the, on the Packers, Chad Clifton had a pretty significant injury, almost led to a brawl on the sideline. I was wondering if you think in the interest of player safety, they already changed the rules as far as blindside blocks and low blocks. Do you think there will ever come to a point where the interception is just rolled down, there's no chance for returning after they make the interception? No, no, it's an exciting play. You know, just the fact that Ed Reed, every time he made an interception, he was going to score a touchdown. His mindset was to score a touchdown. I can't see them ever saying, hey, you know, for the safety of the game, we're going to take that out of the game. No, I love it. I mean there's nothing like a pick six that changes the complexion of a game. Thanks for the phone calls. Seton, would you update the poll results from hour two of this award nominated program? Yeah, I would be happy to do that for you. Let's see, we got two of them up there right now. The baseball postseason is better with the Yankees or without the Yankees. Right now, 65% of the audience say without the Yankees. And the worst way to lose a playoff game in baseball is to strike out looking followed by an error in the field. Yep, I agree. So Joe Flacco is I guess starting for the Bengals against the Packers. He's already beaten the Packers. And here's Zach Taylor talking about Flacco and his status for Sunday. Played him a lot, watched him a lot. Brings great, great experience, great leadership. His style fits our style of play too. So excited to get him out there. We'll start him this week so he's going to take all the reps. Get ready to go. Already spent a lot of time meeting with us, us getting up to speed. So feel really good about where he's at now. What changes for the Bengals? Now you got Jake Browning, who had played well in, you know, previous starts, not this season. But then Flacco is not good enough to keep his job with the Browns. But then he's good enough to start for the Bengals. And the Bengals, I still don't know how you don't have great numbers even if you lose games that you still have your great receivers there. That was what was the biggest surprise is they didn't put up big numbers with Higgins and Jamar. Two hours in the books. One more to go. We'll get to more of your phone calls coming up. 877-3DP show.
