Julio
I can't wait.
Rich
I am excited. We gotta get Ken Griffey Jr. On the show. That's my goal. Let's do that next.
Julio
Yeah, you know what? I'm gonna tell him that you always mock his, his crew neck shirts that he wears.
Rich
Listen, he's not the kid anymore.
Julio
You know how he always wears those?
Rich
He always wears like a very, like a weird, very tight neck shirt.
Julio
Not like nurdle neck shirts. They're like more of like a. Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna tell him. You make fun of them all the time.
Rich
Hey, let's go to your feedback. We're going to get to Clayton Kershaw again in a little bit. We're going to reminisce some old school blockbuster movies. Aaron Judge is in the news as we get closer to the all Star break. But let's say hi to Dustin in Pennsylvania. We're talking about Pete. Lamest moments and the worst things you've done in your life, but in a light way, nothing bad. Travis Kelsey saying that his dating show, chasing Kelsey was his worst.
Julio
Yeah, I thought that you were gonna bring up the fact that I got married in Vegas by Elvis.
Rich
That was not a cool moment.
Julio
And then I probably shouldn't have done that, but I was like, you know what? I don't have any regrets. It was a fun night.
Rich
Well, how'd that work out for you?
Julio
I mean, it didn't work out, but I mean, how many marriages in Vegas do work out? Thought it was sort of a rock star thing to do. I had good intentions. I don't regret it. So missteps. But in one's career and moments that you kind of laugh at looking back like, man, what a stinker that was.
Rich
Oh, I got one. I got one. As far as embarrassing moments, but let's go to Dustin first. What's up, Dustin?
Danny G
Hey, guys, thanks for taking my call. So how about a couple, about 10 years ago, the greatest NBA player, at least one of the greatest NBA players of all time, Kareem Abdul Jabbar doing Diving with the Stars. You guys remember that show?
Julio
No.
Rich
Diving with the Stars. That's a thing I got. I got to look this up.
Julio
I. You know, I don't remember that. Is that for real?
Rich
Diving with the Stars.
Julio
Surprise. Rich doesn't remember that because he watches Trash all the time.
Rich
I'm surprised.
Julio
I don't.
Rich
I thought of something you did that was ultimately embarrassing.
Julio
Oh, thanks.
Rich
So I think this movie franchise is awesome. I'll start by saying that James Marsden is fantastic. Jim Carrey, one of my heroes, Sonic the Hedgehog. I watched these all recently with my kids. They have the action figures. We've watched them all. It's great. But Danny G, I don't know if you know this, maybe like five, six years ago when we were working over at espn, they're like, hey, can you guys do a promo for a sales thing? And it involves Sonic the Hedgehog?
Julio
How to bring this up?
Rich
We're like, yeah, sure. I happen to call out that one day, the one day I. I think it like, my kid was just being born, right? So I was like, kavino, do the show solo. They had some guy come into the studio dressed in the Sonic costume, and they're like, all right, let's do a bit where Covino races him down the hallway.
Julio
And by the way, the guy in the costume was given all sorts of attitude. It's like, yo, dude, you think I want to do this?
Rich
So somewhere out there, man, I'm going to try to find it. It's Covino racing a guy in a Sonic costume down a hallway. And every so often, Cavino fake jumps up to grab rings that aren't there. It was the weakest.
Julio
But you did it for the gram. You did it for the paycheck. You did it because you sort of had to. But I didn't want to do that.
Mike
It was like, you're in Alvin and the Chipmunks five.
Rich
There's a picture. Also, don't make me bring up the.
Julio
Time you came out in a bikini for a stupid pageant you were in.
Rich
Not a bikini.
Julio
I came out in a Rich came out in an old time Three Stooges bathing suit and did some goofy dance with a Dick Van Dyke hat on. Like he was some vaudeville guy because.
Rich
I was hosting a beauty pageant. There was like a.
Julio
He did like a. Hello, my baby. Hello, My darling.
Rich
It was a comedy bit. Like, not gone well, it was a.
Julio
Comedy bit, but there was no comedy. And that picture's out there. So anyway, we all have those embarrassing moments. So Travis Kelsey's, if you just joined us. Was the fact that he was the star of a dating show so embarrassing that he was the hot stud of the show?
Rich
I'll give you one more.
Julio
But he said it was the weakest, most embarrassing moment of his career. And I get it. Looking back, it was something he probably didn't want to do, but he did.
Rich
I'll give you one more quick one. Then we'll go to your phone calls. We'll move along. One time. A lot of times for guys like us, it's like a sales appearance or something that we do because we're being team players. And it ends up like, oh, why do we do that? There was one time where, like, Kavito and Rich, for some charity event, can you guys co host a soul cycle class? And we're like, yeah, sure. You know, whatever. It's for a charity. Yeah. They're like, guys, can you wear these sleeveless shirts? And Covino and I look like we're acing Gary. We're on little bicycles next to each other with sleeveless, tight Soul cycle T shirts. And by the way, when you Google image us.
Julio
Yeah.
Rich
It's one of the first photos.
Julio
Those photos are the number one photos that haunt us till this day. That's embarrassing, I thought Rich was gonna say, because in radio, again, you do what you got to do sometimes to make people happy. They're like, guys, it was like Thanksgiving time. We really need you to do something for the client. We're like, what? We need, like, introduce or we need you to interview the queen Butterball turkey lady. We're like, what? We had. Do you remember that we had the.
Rich
Woman from the Butterball Turkey hotline as, like, a guest? And we had a. We're like, we welcome major guests today. This is Butterball.
Julio
This is Butterball.
Mike
And by the way, I found a YouTube clip of Kareem Abdul Jabbar in his first dive. It says he's in a wetsuit. It says, Kareem tries to dive. He gets advice from David and Steve on how to improve his technique.
Julio
That's so stupid.
Rich
Diving with the stars. Wow. All right, let's say hi to fish in P.A. what's up, fish? You're on with Kavino and Rich.
Danny G
Hey, guys. Love it when you guys go way off sports topics, but I have a Pacino one. But with the with the Kelsey thing, it's almost like you're giving or doing a job interview and they, you know, they're going to say strengths and weaknesses. And you say, one of my weaknesses is I. I'm too conscientious or something.
Julio
I care too much.
Danny G
Easy.
Rich
Yeah. I'm too focused on work.
Danny G
Yeah, yeah. Like, oh, I work too long.
Rich
You know, My worst Moment was when 25 women fought over me on a bad reality show.
Julio
Yeah, exactly.
Danny G
That's the first thing I thought of. Plus, the Pacino movie where he's blind. I can't think of the name of it another bit.
Rich
You're right. Pacino, you know, he's had a couple stinkers, but he's still Al Pacino. You're right. Good call, Fish. And, you know, let's say hi to John and Reno, Then we'll get back to a little baseball. Little Kershaw. What's up, Johnny?
Julio
He was talking about Scent of a Woman.
Rich
By the way, Sense of a Woman's not a bad movie, but, yeah, it's. What up, man?
Danny G
Hey. So it's all Vegas. Vegas, Vegas. You guys got to come up here to Reno and Tahoe and check out the shorties and all the boat. It's going to be 85 degrees up there. Their cocktails 24, 7. It's.
Rich
I've never been nobody. I've never been.
Mike
And listen, we trying to plan CRC 21.
Rich
Let me tell you, we are. We're down to do a bunch of live broadcasts this coming year. We just had a big party in Vegas, and honestly, it was so much fun. So, hey, keep track of us at Covino and Reggio. We're going to be doing a lot of live broadcasts around the country this year, so I promise you that. All right, now, last night. Got to touch on it real quick again, if you're just joining us, Kavino Rich in for Dan Patrick. As you wake up on the West Coast, a lot of. A lot of LA people with smiles on their faces after Clayton Kershaw. Oh, my God. How. How nail biting was it when you see Dave Roberts on the top step of the dugout? Like, do I. How long am I gonna leave this guy in? And Danny G. Yesterday, I joked, what if he stuck at 2? What's Dave Roberts gonna do? And then I felt bad, like I wished it into.
Mike
Yeah, you tried to put the curse on.
Julio
It was magical. It really was amazing. Whatever word you want. It was all those things because it had to be done in that moment, as we discussed first hour, because I Don't think he was going out again. It was already feeling forced. He was already pushing the limits. He had to do it there. He had one more chance and he got it. And that's what you want in front of all those fans. It was set up perfectly for the moment and man, it happened perfectly. Except for the Muncie thing. We'll talk about that now, the second layer of it because we already focused on. You think he would have went out again?
Rich
No way.
Julio
Even though Robert said he was going to do things unconventionally and do it different because of this moment, he had already done that. I don't think you extend it. Even if Kershaw was like, I got to go out there. No, because now it just feels like too much.
Rich
You don't want to force it. Do you remember? Was it remind me. I think I'm going to nail this. Last year, Mike Evans needed like only a couple more yards. Was it Evans on Tampa?
Julio
Yeah, it was.
Rich
And Baker tried to get him the ball and it didn't work out. And then remember they got the ball back miraculously with like 10 seconds and he got him the pass to. Was it to keep his thousand yard streak alive. When it's forced sometimes I don't care because I just love the moment. And last night Dave Roberts was on the border of having to force it. And you know, not only Dave Roberts.
Julio
So every fan that was there was like, yo, it's gotta happen now or we're not part of this story.
Rich
I'm not saying it wasn't a strike, but that umpire knew that if he didn't ring him up, he's letting 50,000 people down. In fact, the world of baseball down. Like, I'm not saying you got it.
Julio
That was a big league strikeout, man.
Mike
Hit the corner, hit the strike zone.
Julio
Yeah, that was like such a perfect pitch. I thought about would have been cooler if it was a swing and miss, the Vinnie Gabra. But nah, looking was sweet. The whole thing was dope. It was perfect, man. And again, just to make it clear, I'm not a Dodgers fan, but I'm a baseball fan.
Rich
But I'm saying we're not going to.
Julio
See many more of those.
Rich
I'm saying that's not the moment where the home planet empire squeezes you because that imagine if he was like, ball. That was the moment where you're like, yo, nice. Hits the corner, punch him out.
Julio
But you know what I didn't see though? A really nice punch out. I just see him walking off the field.
Rich
It was the no, it was the slow, like you know, in the umpire instead of calling it. Really.
Julio
No, I wanted like a Leslie Nielsen sort of call in that moment.
Rich
No, he did the, he did the one, the, like the one second pause and then did the ring up.
Julio
Well, it's Cavino and Rich in for Dan Patrick and right now we're on AM570. So let's hear what they did last night.
Rich
One, two pitch, strike three called.
Julio
There it is. He got him with a slider strikeout. Number 3,000 for Clayton Kershaw.
Rich
History at Dodgers Stadium. They will stop the game.
Julio
Kershaw doffing his cap to the crowd. This adoring crowd here at Dodger Stadium as Clayton Kershaw enters the 3,000 club, just the 20th member and only the fourth left hander in the history of the game with 3,000 strikeouts, every one of them coming in a Dodger uniform. That was awesome.
Rich
You wanted Leslie Nielsen the.
Julio
I wanted to see a moonwalk. I wanted to see a little, you know, showmanship. But it wasn't about the umpire. He did the right thing. A did the right thing. But man, Kershaw really delivered there. Awesome moment again, courtesy of AM5 70. Shout out to them and shout out to all the affiliates. Hanging out with Kavino and Rich in for Dan Patrick. But my second part, Rich, because again, first part of the observation of the celebration last night was did he have to do it there? The answer is yes. I don't care what you think about him going out again. Maybe Dave Roberts says just to appease the fans. Yeah, I would have let him go. No way. Because it wouldn't have felt the same either. He had to do it there. Second part is, I know for fact that you had a lot of tough LA mean mugging LA fans out there on their feet.
Mike
Why are you looking at me?
Julio
Guys like Danny G, guys like, you know, who've witnessed history that shed a few tears last night. And I think it's not even a debate. Is it okay to shed a tear? Those are great, wonderful, beautiful moments you share with your family, you remember for the rest of your life. So it's not. Is it okay to shed one? And I'm not being a Mr. Softy Pants either because I know there's no crying in baseball whenever. But there are moments where you do.
Rich
There's no crying in baseball.
Julio
There's moments where you do. Are there other ones that come to mind?
Rich
I always talk about how Mike Schmidt.
Julio
Sort of changed that.
Rich
He opened the floodgates, pun intended, when he cried. When we were kids at his, I believe, retirement. It wasn't his hall of Fame induction, right? It was his retirement. I remember thinking like, yo, if Mike Schmidt's gonna cry, that guy won, like, three MVPs. If he cries.
Julio
That was.
Rich
I think it's okay.
Julio
Yeah, that was an impactful moment. I remember as a kid. No, you didn't see that a lot. And you're like, like, think about it from your childhood standpoint. How many times did you see your dad cry? Like, never, right? Once ever, maybe. And then you see Mike Schmidt, you're like, mike Schmidt's crying like that. And you're like, oh, okay. I guess there's certain moments and happy tears, and there's different reasons. It's not because he was hit by a pitch and he's the weenie guy who's like, oh, I have.
Rich
I have a couple layers I want to add to the Kershaw last night. I mean, did he set the record for bro hugs or.
Julio
No.
Rich
Every member of the team.
Julio
Was there a count?
Rich
Every member of the team got the handshake into the bro hug. And I do wonder if you're one of the ancillary.
Julio
Did once he get that? Because I know he was peeking.
Mike
I was going to say he was one hug away from breaking the record, and that was because Muncie couldn't get out there.
Rich
I just say, like, there's ancillary guys or the role players, and you wonder. You assume he's tightest with the guys that have been there the longest of the stars. But it is interesting, like, if you're a Michael Confardo, because he stinks.
Mike
He beat your Mets this year, didn't he?
Rich
I know. If you're a guy like Michael Conforto, sure, he's a great guy, and you played with him like, a year. You're probably not that tight. Does everyone go in for an equal bro hug? Like, you know, if you work at a company, if you're the new guy, and they're like, John's been here 50 years. Like, you're like, hey, congrats, John. But you let the people that know.
Julio
Him, sort of the guys who really are down with him, squeezed his ass. So. Oh, that was ass pat.
Rich
Yeah, little ass pat, tail. That's what it was.
Julio
If you only played with him for a year, you don't get to pat his ass.
Rich
My other question. You may have an answer right away. If you're on the Chicago White Sox last night, you don't want to be the guy. I get it. You know, the whole key is you want to be the one that breaks up the no hitter.
Julio
They always say the answer to the trivia question is Vinnie Capra.
Rich
You don't want to be the answer to the trivia question. You don't want to be the. The 27th out of a perfect game. However, if you're on the White Sox and at that moment, you are winning the game, if you're going to make an out, because, let's be honest, three outs are registered every inning. Are you as a baseball fan, because everyone that plays baseball is a fan of the game. Are you thinking to yourself, like, yeah, let him get it here. Or are you like, no, we want to ruin the day.
Julio
If you're a white sock.
Rich
Yeah.
Julio
You don't want to be the guy.
Rich
You don't want to be the answer.
Julio
To this review question.
Rich
You want to win the game. Yeah, but I'm saying, you think there are some players on that team that respect Kershaw enough where they're like, you know what? Three strikeouts. We want to win the game, but if he gets it, he gets it. Like, when he was at 2 and you're winning the game, do you think there's anyone that was like, eh, let him get it?
Mike
I don't think so. They were ahead four to two, and they were pushing hard.
Rich
But you think that there's not one guy on the White side roster that was like, oh, it would be a nice moment. Kershaw's done so much for the game.
Julio
The White Sox don't have a lot to play for. Right. So those are the small victories that their competitive nature tries to win.
Rich
You don't think there's any.
Julio
We ain't gonna let him strike us out today. You don't think there's anyone almost pulled it off?
Rich
I don't know. I feel like there's probably some guys on the other team that maybe even played a year with Clayton and said, you know what? Let me tip my. Let me tip my hat. You know, like, he's gonna get it. He's either gonna get it with one more strikeout here, or it's in Milwaukee next week.
Julio
We're talking the ultimate competitors. Yeah.
Mike
And only var. But we remember the famous picture last year when he got traded to the lowly White Sox and he looked like he was crying in the dugout.
Rich
I would have. I would have to. There's a part of me, Danny, I'm just saying that I think they could.
Julio
Respect it once it happens. But you're. You're trying to prevent that from happening on your clock. And unfortunately for the White Sox and Vinnie Campra, it happened again when it had to. It had to be that moment. Are there other moments? Because I know Danny G. Won't admit it, but I know he shed one. Are there other moments where you remember clearly just standing up? I got one for Rich that he doesn't even know. I know you just like you slow clap in disbelief. Because what you saw was just so amazing. And it brought that emotion out.
Rich
I've cried in sadness.
Julio
I'm all sappy.
Rich
I've cried in sadness.
Julio
No, I remember watching Rich. I think it was when Tom Brady had the miraculous comeback. I forget which Tom Brady victory it was, but I remember watching Rich staring at the tv, like, with it, with one little magical tear running down his face.
Rich
I'm not even.
Julio
And I snapped a picture. I got it somewhere.
Rich
I'm not even a Patriots fan. But when Tom Brady came back after being down 28 to 3, the guys do have a picture of me or a video even, that I'm sitting in my living room. I probably had quite a few cocktails.
Julio
Yeah, he's sitting there like the thinker. Like, you know, like this. His head on his fist, like his chin just laying there, like, my goodness.
Rich
Denny, While he was doing the post game, while the NFL Films music has kicked in and they're passing around the trophy, right?
Julio
And Tom Brady wins the Super Bowl.
Rich
I had my fist on my chin, and I was nodding my head back and forth like, damn greatness.
Julio
Unbelievable.
Mike
A lot of dudes teared up recently when he was seen with Sydney Sweeney.
Rich
Yeah.
Julio
Or how about. You know what?
Rich
I did it again. I was like, great.
Julio
Speaking of Tom Brady, honestly, if you. If I'm doing the bul scroll and I happen to see the clip in a vulnerable moment when he answers the question. You ever see a little kid or someone asks him, who's your hero? And he's like, who's my hero?
Rich
My dad.
Julio
My dad. And you're like, ah. If you put that to sad music, you're like, oh, Tommy, stop it. TB12. Yeah. There's certain moments. I'll give you the lamest one that comes to mind for me. I remember watching this, Rich, you're gonna be like, really? Yeah. I'm serious. Maybe I was having an emotional week, all right? Leave me alone. I remember sitting by myself in my socks. No one wanted to come watch the fight with me. I was watching by myself, and it was fat ass Andy Ruiz versus Anthony Joshua. And I'm like, there's no way this chubby Mexican dude is going to beat Anthony Joshua, this physical specimen of the ages. Joshua at the time was like invincible. And Andy Ruiz, the chubby vato loco forever becomes the first Mexican heavyweight champion of the world. The half vato inside of me couldn't have been more proud. I was jumping out of my seat looking for someone to hug in the moment. No one was there. And it just enjoy in pure joy.
Rich
It was a cool moment.
Julio
I was like. But I imagine that's how every Dodgers fan felt yesterday. Because, look, it was a beautiful moment. It really was. That's why we watch sports. It was amazing. And so many people. Greg Jensen to every vote though fan that I know who roots for the Dodgers hit me up like, dude, I got to admit, I shed one last night because it was that perfect of a moment. And then to have Freddie Freeman close it out like that. It was a perfect Dodgers night. Minus Max Muncie.
Mike
Yeah, I was going to say a minus because Muncie made it dramatic.
Julio
Like if it was a movie. That's what happens in the movie, right? Oh, no. Munson.
Mike
And then if there was any positive at all out of it, Kike comes in and that's the longest tenured teammate with Clayton.
Julio
But dude, in any movie you need the roller coaster of emotions, right? The Muncie thing provided that. And then for him to still come through after that just made it all the more memorable.
Mike
MRI on Muncie today, by the way.
Rich
No, that didn't look good. And they said that we're not going.
Julio
To show the replay.
Rich
I didn't think it was that bad.
Mike
I don't like that. If you want to preface it by saying, all right, if you have a soft, you know, stomach, look away if it's bad. But he didn't like break his leg into like I've seen on football, like.
Rich
Joe Theisman, Alex Smith, they're like everything. College basketball player who you could. So that you saw the bone coming through his leg. It wasn't.
Julio
That didn't twist all the way around like Oswaldo Cabrera's dude.
Rich
Yeah, this. This is more of just a. Oh, man. You could tell that something popped, right?
Julio
But it wasn't.
Rich
It wasn't.
Mike
Yeah, I wanted to see the replay. I'm like, don't make up my mind for me. Like, let me decide if I want to see that.
Rich
So wishing Max Muncie the best, but great moment for Dodgers fans. Oh, you guys, you're already the greatest. Hopefully. Hopefully. All the Dodgers highlights where we're getting through them now. That way, come postseason, keep dreaming, Mr. Met. My Mets could get back on track here. All right. Hey, we got more Covino and Rich in for the great Dan Patrick. And coming up, there's a quarterback in the NFL that I think, I think it's safe to say is completely overlooked. When we're doing all these preseason rankings of who are the top 10 quarterbacks.
Julio
Overlooked by the city he plays for, I think just everybody else tends to overlook them.
Rich
We'll get to that next. In for Dan Patrick, Kevin Onrich.
Covino

Julio
Kansas City.
Greg
He's on it. How about Lamar Jackson?
Julio
Jackson takes it himself.
Rich
Look at him dart back and forth.
Julio
Oh, he broke his ankles and he's got a touchdown. He is Houdini.

Joey Chestnut was on our show a couple weeks ago, name dropper, talking about how tomorrow morning he returns to the hot dog eating contest at Nathan's and he said he's going to try to put back 80 hot dogs. And I just read a stat that every 4th of July, I mean, I know we're going to be doing our grill and my wife's trying to figure out what we're going to do on the green egg. You know, you got a green egg.
Julio
What are you bragging about?
Rich
We're going to start smoking some meats. I think today for tomorrow, I am going to brag about it. It's pretty cool. Some people like Traeger, some people like green eggs. But hey, everyone loves grilling. In fact, the number one thing when surveyed Americans say what reminds him of summer, the smell of the grill. But do you think that Joey Chestnut is really going to put back 80? Number one, that would be a record. And number two, can you believe Americans eat 150 million hot dogs every Fourth of July?
Julio
That's 30 minutes off your life. Every.
Mike
No, no, Chestnut debunked that. When you talk to him, he said it was minutes, like a.
Julio
That's what he said.
Mike
A couple minutes.
Julio
That's what he said. I've read.
Mike
Still adds up to a few years for him.
Rich
What do you put on your dog, by the way? Before? I have a NFL quarterback thing I want to talk about. But real quick, what do you put on your dog? Ketchup and mustard?
Julio
Yeah, a little both. I'm okay with that.
Rich
Little relish.
Julio
Keep it simple. Nah, I don't relish to relish.
Rich
Do you like those red onions that they do on the New York City hot dog stands?
Julio
I'm good with that if you have it. But little mustard, ketchup, good for me.
Rich
All right, well, hey, we're getting closer and closer to the NFL season. And listen, baseball all star break, that's on my mind. But hey, in a month from now it's football until the end of the year, which is wild, right? We're already back in it. And a lot of networks, a lot of publications, a lot of streamers are putting out their list of top 10 NFL quarterbacks. And the one thing I realize is that it seems to be a common sentiment that the top four quarterbacks are agreed upon. It's like, it's like the, it's like the non spoken agreement that we all have core four. Yeah, I guess you would say there is a core four. Now I think everyone's order is different, but safe to say that 90% of people and analysts and fans are saying.
Julio
That, well, who was it that put out that list? It was Yahoo. Right. Who put out that list of the.
Mike
Top four sports writers?
Julio
They left off Jalen Hurst.
Rich
Well, I'm going to get to all. Yeah, but the top four as of right now, that's, it's very hard to argue in any particular order because I think everyone's going to put them in a different order. Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow. I think that is, you're very safe to say top four. And what I find to be funny, the commonality all in the afc. The AFC right now is having a moment. It's like the, the Brady, Peyton Manning. I'm not going to put Philip Rivers in maybe, but there was a time where the, a lot of the elite quarterbacks were in the afc and here.
Covino
We are, Philip Rivers in there. Yeah, I know he didn't win it a lot, but like those stats he put up, that's hall of Fame stats, no doubt.
Rich
Yeah. So Josh Allen, Mahomes, Lamar Burrow right there. Now I think the funny part is when you get from number 5 to 10, everyone's list is so all over the place because I think we're having a hard time really assessing and judging where we go from here. I think Justin Herbert will be on everyone's list as a top 10.
Julio
Well, the problem is people. Yeah, but people let their personal feelings get involved in here too because Rich so badly wants to wedge Brock Purdy in there somewhere.
Rich
But realistically I may say he's right Outside.
Julio
But I think that's why the bottom five, I think there's a realistic. Like, you really can't debate the top five, but then the bottom five is. And your feelings get involved.
Mike
And on our show Live from Vegas, we were debating whether or not Baker Mayfield should be in the top 10, which a lot of us think he is.
Rich
Let's agree. Let's say, let's. Because he won a Super bowl last year and it would almost be disrespectful not to put him on. Would you say at this point Jalen Hurts has proven he's a top 10?
Mike
I'd say he's number five.
Covino
I think he is. Yeah. Like the physicality, you just cannot discount that.
Rich
Okay, so if we're going to do.
Julio
How about what he did, man, and he lost the super bowl, sat there and pouted about it and said, this isn't happening again on my clock. And he delivered. Man, that was awesome. All right, so, I mean, he won a Super Bowl. He's. He's a solid quarterback.
Rich
All right, so Camino, hear me out here.
Julio
How was he not on the list.
Rich
The four we spoke of? Right. Jalen Hurts, because you gotta be respectful. And Justin Herbert because somehow, unless there's an outlier in the network, I get to some people that say no, but I think Herbert would make most people's top 10, maybe not six. But I'm going to say he's somewhere in the top 10, even though he had a stinker in the postseason last year. So that's six, I think now your final four spots are where every single person is going to have a different answer. And I said, there's one quarterback that I think gets so disrespected. He's on fox Sports top 10 quarterback list. I just saw an FS1, but he was not on the Yahoo list. Danny G. And perfect. You're a Lions fan. Jared Goff seems to get overlooked so much. And there was a stat that came out. Camino read how his stats compared to Mahomes over the last three seasons. He's better than Mahomes in every offensive category. And you'll still argue always, he's still not Mahomes. But the numbers will dictate that Jared.
Julio
Goff's really good last three seasons. Goff, 96 touchdowns. Patrick Mahomes, 94 touchdowns, 94 for Mahomes. So golf, more touchdowns, golf, 31 interceptions.
Rich
Mahomes here, 37.
Julio
37. And got through for more yardage. Actually slightly less. Like 20 less yards. Oh, no. I'm sorry. More. 13,006, 42. 13,642. Mahomes 13,361. And yeah, man. 100 102.7 passer rating versus 97.3 completion.
Mike
Percentage 61% 8 to 67.3 passer rating.
Covino
Game last year too.
Julio
So yeah, all stats favorable. All those stats are favorable. Major stats for golf over Mahomes. So it's like, how do you leave. If Mahomes is the guy, he's the beacon of awesome in today's game. How do you leave off golf in all these conversations? And I said it off there, I'll say it again. Detroit embraces them. They love the guy. It's everybody else that sort of forgets about him or undermines his accomplishments. I guess. It's not. He's not doing it. He is doing it and they love him for it.
Rich
A weird omission because. Because statistically, yeah, seems like a great guy. He's a cool guy. He's got a beautiful wife. Like everything about Jared Goff, you. You would. It doesn't make sense to me why he's left off.
Julio
Maybe because he was set up to be the guy in LA and it.
Rich
Yeah.
Julio
Didn't work out.
Covino
That's one of those reasons.
Julio
Yes.
Covino
I think it's that and then two other things. Number one, I think most people will try to point to the Lions roster and say, well, it's all the guys around him. But like that's true of every great quarterback. Jalen Hurts has a great offensive line. Patrick Mahomes played with Tyree Kill. Like, you know, just because he's got Amon Ross, St. Brow and Penne Sewell, like that's not a disqualifier. I think the other thing is like, you will see kind of those low end games from Jared Goff every now and then. What he did in the playoffs last year was not good.
Rich
He did something remarkable last year. Didn't he have a five interception game and still won against the Houston Texans?
Covino
Yeah, I was at Drugstore Cowboy in LA and everyone went nuts because like, yeah, it's. He had five interceptions but the second half he was on fire.
Rich
So yeah, I'm going to put not at number seven, but I think we got to put golf on this list. So now I think everyone in this room, we could all agree Mahomes, Jackson, Allen, Burrow, and then we just added Hertz, Herbert and Goff. That gives everyone three spots. And those three spots you got to figure out who's going to occupy your little imaginary top 10. Because then it starts getting dicey, like, are you putting Dak Prescott in the top 10? I mean, he's paid like it.
Covino
Mayfield Stafford is a fantastic quarterback, but the question is going into 20, 25, he's starting to get old. He's starting to get up there.
Julio
And by the way, that's what most of the lists are about. It's not about their career accomplishments, about heading into the next season.
Rich
Because you're going to.
Julio
That's why Geno Smith was on that list. And you're like, well, Geno Smith, yeah, he's good. But it's because that's their thinking projection with Ashton Genty.
Mike
And yeah, you got to put the youngest quarterback in that group. He proved a lot his rookie season. Jaden Daniels has to be somewhere there at the bottom of the top 10.
Rich
He's on the Fox Sports list, but Jaden Daniels did not make that Yahoo list.
Covino
Well, the problem is it's kind of the C.J. stroud problem because C.J. stroud was fantastic his rookie year. And then what happened? Sophomore slump always hits these guys. And I think people are trying to hedge a little bit on Jaden Daniels because you just don't know what he's going to be.
Dan
Year to the eye test.
Mike
Feels like he's built different.
Julio
Yeah. Don't you. Don't you tune into games where he's playing and don't you tune into those.
Mike
Highlights, that confidence and swag that he has. He's got an aura about himself like he's a superstar already.
Julio
Yeah. To me, he's a must watch quarterback. Rich. So I would say he's in my bottom third here.
Rich
Jaden Daniel, CJ Stroud.
Julio
I picture it like a concert headlining tour.
Covino
Baker Mayfield, where the top four are.
Julio
In big font and then the next three are in smaller font and then the next three are in. You know, they're up there.
Mike
But yeah, I'm with perfect. I think Mayfield needs to be at the bottom of the top 10 there.
Covino
Want to talk about a quarterback? It's no respect. Baker Mayfield, like, I think people are still holding Cleveland against him. He's amazing.
Julio
I said this when we first brought up that Yahoo list, which was bunk as hell. And again, lists are made to be discussed. They do these things to throw it out there so that people bring it up. Like, how in the world did they leave out so and so? But I forever have that image of Baker Mayfield literally carrying players on his back and he's marching down the field really trying to win for his team. It's amazing to see how he turned his career around and I think he's easy to root for.
Mike
And by the way, if you want to go based on numbers from last year, then Jordan Love and Brock Birdie would need to be in the conversation.
Rich
I'm telling you. So answer me this. Of those young quarterbacks, I'm going to give you three. You tell me if you feel like one clearly stands out. All right, Jaden. Jaden Daniel, commanders.
Julio
Okay.
Rich
C.J. stroud, Texans. Jordan Love, Packers. Are those three guys so in a little pocket together in your mind that like we're waiting for one of them to emerge? Think about that and think about where do you put a guy like Brock Purdy? Listen, I get it's not all about who's the best, who's top 10, but these lists are coming out, they're fun to debate. And it is funny how we all agree like maybe five or six are definitely there towards the bottom of the top 10. And Danny, I pointed this out last week on our afternoon show. Not everyone's a top 10. There's 32 teams in the NFL, so there is a bottom third. There's a bottom 10. And no one wants to admit that their guy might be in the bottom 10. So we'll take your feedback next. Cavino and Rich in for the great Dan Patrick. Hang tight.
Covino

Rich
Great man. By the way, who do you think.
Julio
Are stopping by too?
Rich
Who do you think they're considering the quote, biggest snubs this year. I know, I know there's still alternates that are going to be named to the team, but who do you think the biggest snubs are? Just thinking right now they're saying Ellie De La Cruz.
Julio
That's the biggest one. Again, the fans, which I hate, and.
Rich
The polar bear, Pete Alonzo, who's having a career year and he's made it before, but he, he has not made it as of now. But I'm sure both of those guys will be added at some point. We'll see.

Throwing it back for a Thursday old school when 50 hits at 50 after C& R. Give you the time capsule topic and we reminisce together.
Julio
So we do this on our regular show every Thursday. So it's great to bring it here in for Dan Patrick because we get you involved. 87799 on Fox. We want you to call up. In fact, let's say you unlock a memory. You really nailed the call. Maybe Danny G. Will hook you up with a prize. How about that? Trying to bribe some Man Patrick listeners. If you got some stainless steel CNR on FSR swiggies to give away. But today, throwing it back on a Thursday. Today's a special day.
Rich
Yeah, it's the day where all your fourth of July movies hit the theaters. And I'm sure this year it's gonna be all about Jurassic World.
Julio
Yeah. But it's also speaking of blockbusters, on this holiday weekend, it's also the 40th anniversary, the release of Back to the Future.
Rich
Marty.
Julio
July 3rd, 1985.
Rich
Forty years since we met Doc Emmett Brown and Marty McFly. 1985. A lot of us were little kids and I, I still believe it's the closest thing to a perfect movie that was ever made.
Julio
As they say, it's a great movie now, except for the whole part where, you know, he's making out with his mom and stuff.
Rich
Well, I would say the 1, 1 missing explanation in the whole thing. Have you seen Comedian? I saw a comedian do this whole.
Julio
Bit where it's like, Biff was a little rough with Lorraine in the car.
Rich
Get your damn hands off her. It was never explained why. I don't know. A cool teenage kid was hanging out with an old scientist. There was never like, oh, yeah, he's a friend of the scientist.
Julio
He had that big guitar amp.
Rich
It was like, so wait, what's going on with Doc and Marty?
Julio
They had a nice relationship.
Mike
He was trying to ruin one of the greatest movies.
Julio
It was like an age 80s thing. It's like Daniel sun and Miyagi. It's like, you know, just how it was.
Rich
Would you let your teenager hang out with a weird old scientist?
Julio
It's like us and our friendship with Mike who runs this place.
Rich
You know what? So I ask you what were the biggest summer blockbusters that you would put on the top of your list? Let me name a couple and I want to know how you ranked these. Like if you had to make a top three, because on the Fourth of July weekend, the number one grossing movie at the box office, Transformers 2007, Megan Fox. But also you could say Back to the Future. You could say Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum. Independence Day. You could say Terminator 2. That came out on this day. So we'll, we'll go over some of your favorite blockbuster movies from fourth of July. Coming up, kavin on Rich in for Dan Patrick. Having fun on a Thursday right here. Let's out hang.

Podcast Summary: The Dan Patrick Show – Hour 2: “Joey Chestnut Is Back, Old School When 50 Hits”
Release Date: July 3, 2025
Host: iHeartPodcasts and Dan Patrick Podcast Network
In the second hour of The Dan Patrick Show, co-hosts Covino and Rich take over the broadcast from Dan Patrick, delving into a variety of topics ranging from sports achievements to personal anecdotes. The conversation is lively and engaging, filled with humor and insightful commentary that appeals to both sports enthusiasts and casual listeners.
The show kicks off with Covino and Rich discussing their most embarrassing moments, sharing personal stories that resonate with listeners and set a relatable tone.
They exchange humorous jabs about past appearances and mishaps, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and laughter.
A significant portion of the discussion centers around Clayton Kershaw’s historic achievement of reaching 3,000 strikeouts, a rare milestone in Major League Baseball.
Covino and Rich analyze the importance of this achievement, highlighting its impact on Kershaw’s legacy and the Dodgers’ season. They commend the seamless execution of the strikeout and the emotional response from both players and fans.
The conversation shifts to the emotional aspects of sports, discussing instances where athletes show vulnerability.
Covino shares a heartfelt story about witnessing emotional moments in sports, such as Tom Brady’s miraculous comeback and Andy Ruiz’s unexpected victory, emphasizing that sports often bring out deep emotions and memorable memories.
Covino and Rich delve into the realm of NFL quarterback rankings, debating the merits of top performers and those who might be unjustly overlooked.
They discuss Jared Goff’s impressive statistics compared to Patrick Mahomes, questioning why Goff is often excluded from top lists despite outperforming Mahomes in several key categories.
The hosts argue that personal biases and team performance often overshadow individual excellence, leading to underrated players like Goff remaining out of the spotlight.
As the title suggests, Joey Chestnut’s upcoming participation in the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest becomes a focal point.
