Show on Fox Sports Radio, hour two on this Friday. It's a meat Friday at that. It's kind of a brunch Friday as we have bacon and egg and cheese sliders, sausage sliders, we have locks and bagel sliders with cream cheese and spicy bloody Marys. Who has it better than we do? Nobody, by the way. We do not indulge in, you know, we do imbibe with the bloody Marys until after the show. Just letting you know. It may sound like we have been, you know, dipping into this spicy bloody Marys, but not. That's. That's till after the show. Todd, I know you like to sneak a little there, a little nip there.
Dan Patrick
I came very close to grabbing a slider.
Todd Fritz
All right.
Dan Patrick
I did not.
Todd Fritz
No, no. Yeah, you can't do that and can't grab the bloody Mary either.
Dan Patrick
I forgot. The camera's all over the place. That's the problem.
Todd Fritz
Yes, I can see everything, Todd. I can see everything. 8, 7 7, 3, DP show. Email address dp@danpatrick.com Twitter handle a DP show. Good morning. If you're watching on Peacock, thank you for downloading the app. And we say good morning to our radio affiliates around the country, iHeartRadio and Fox Sports Radio Poll question from hour one. And what are we gonna go with an hour to Seton?
Dan Patrick
Yeah, we put two of them up there. For our one, we had Todd's let's not overthink it poll question. And we also have Pascal Siakam saying they played harder. It was a throwaway line or embarrassing to admit. Right now, about 67% of the audience have that as a throwaway line. Nobody's taking that too serious. And then a more iconic place to play basketball. New York City or the state of Indiana. The state of Indiana's got about 55% of that vote.
Todd Fritz
Okay.
Dan Patrick
The common thought seems to be that New York is more famous. Indiana is more like heart and soul kind of thing, where it's like basketball is more like a religion, say, in Indiana, but there's really no better place, say the more famous place to cut your chops than New York City, if that makes sense.
Todd Fritz
All right, all right, I'll buy that.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I could see that.
Todd Fritz
Yeah. Well, if you're a Pacer fan, your level of concern is what after last night, because it, you know, I think we thought, okay, Indiana can go and they can win there. They won there before and the Knicks haven't been a great home team in the playoffs. So that kind of quickly, quickly diminished because Brunson and Karl Anthony Towns were wonderful. Here is Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau on his two stars.
Dan Patrick
I thought he was very aggressive and I think that's super important.
Todd Fritz
I think Jalen as well.
Dan Patrick
I thought the first quarter that set.
Paul Pabst
The tone for the game. We got to make sure that we stay aggressive and we have to stay disciplined. I think staying disciplined and playing with toughness is huge.
Todd Fritz
And it felt like the Pacers were going to the NBA Finals after last game. Right. That's where it comes with your level of concern if you're a Pacer fan or your level of confidence if you're a Knick fan. Because you're probably thinking, hey, the way we played, if we can play that way in Indiana, we come back in our building and we can still win this. Which of course they can. They're four point underdogs. That'll be Saturday night in Indianapolis.
Dan Patrick
Yes, Paul, if the Pacers. This is kind of almost rhetorical, but if the Pacers win in the next game, clean win, the egg laid by Tyrese Hilbert is completely forgotten forever. Correct?
Todd Fritz
Yeah, probably.
Dan Patrick
But what if it goes the other way? What if all the month of goodwill that he's built, he's built himself into a star where people are picking him over Anthony Edwards now for the future of the NBA and other players. But if he somehow doesn't pull this off because it is him, how does it go?
Todd Fritz
I think that we'll look at him the way we do. Anthony Edwards of. Maybe he's not there yet. Jalen Brunson is there. Like Jalen Brunson is that guy. And you saw that last night. He somehow, some way, and he's not afraid and that was an impressive performance. And these are tough shots, you know, because he's not a big guy. And you got, you know, these long, long arm guys who are, you know, trying to disrupt that shot. But he hit big, big, big shots. And so did Carl Anthony Towns, who has a bad knee but seemed pretty mobile last night. But yeah, you can wipe away a bad playoff game with a playoff clinching win. That, that would be important for Tyrese Halliburton. And I know we love to fast track players like who's the next? You know, and we did that With Anthony Edwards, I think he's really talented. I just don't think he's ready yet. But he will be. He's only 23. And the same thing with Tyrese Halliburton. Nobody knew him. I mean, he played this way before it just now people are seeing him and they're like, oh, man, is he a superstar? Is he a top 10 player? He's the same player. It's just more people are now watching. Therefore more people have an opinion. Yes, Marv, in the NBA, we normally.
Paul Pabst
Do the same thing. There's a young, exciting player.
Dan Patrick
Oh, man, I love his game. I love watching him. He has a fall short a little.
Todd Fritz
Bit in the playoffs.
Paul Pabst
Man, when's he going to start winning some championships?
Dan Patrick
Time is ticking.
Paul Pabst
It always happens. It's going to happen to more guys.
Todd Fritz
Yeah. And we saw that with Giannis, we saw that with Joker. It's like, I want MVPs. You better start winning championships now. Tyrese Halliburton not going to be an mvp. But you know, if he is up at this level, then he might get into that and it's a great category to get in. We expect you to win a championship. Anthony Edwards is probably in there too soon. Luca got to an NBA finals, but he's still going to be facing that. When are you going to be. How can you be an all time great if you don't win championships? We put that label on you a lot sooner than we used to. All right, poll question for hour two is going to be what? Seaton.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, we got. Let's see, we got three of them working right now. Paul just sent one over to. In which team sport would it be the easiest to play professionally at the age of 40 or older? Basketball, baseball, football, hockey.
Todd Fritz
Other the easiest. The easiest to be 40 years of age. Paul?
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Basis off Corey Perry, the hockey player, still playing well at 40. Football, other than quarterback, has it been done other than quarterback in the NFL? And kicker, if I'm removing that, has a position player like Daryl Green of the Washington Redskins, Jerry rice, they were 40 or approaching. Yeah, but it seems in football it's only quarterback. All right, baseball, how common. I mean, maybe a pitcher, right? I mean, pitching. As long as your arm stays intact, you should be able to do that. First base a little bit. You can be kind of a big guy sitting there at first base and just, you know, catch the ball that's thrown to you by the infield. Gotta bend down once in a while for a ground ball. But y' all go baseball because you.
Paul Pabst
See a lot of those guys, the Willie Mazes and Hank Aarons, Stan Musial.
Dan Patrick
Those guys played for 20 seasons.
Todd Fritz
Yeah. Satchel Page was I think in his 50s when he was pitching. Yeah. Let's see. Basketball would be pretty tough because that's a young man's game. Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Explosiveness.
Todd Fritz
Yeah. Pitching, I could see that. You know, Phil Necro, he was in his 40s, knuckleball, pitcher. Let me see. Football. Now, unless you're a kicker or a quarterback, I don't see it. Yes, Todd, some kind of group play.
Dan Patrick
Match play golf. I know that's. We're kind of thinking an individual sport, but there is groups that play golf together.
Todd Fritz
No, team sport.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but it's a team sport. What if you're in the Ryder cup and you're 44 and you could still hit the ball?
Todd Fritz
Well, yeah, but we were just talking about these sports.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Todd Fritz
Because we could do bowling if you wanted to.
Dan Patrick
We could do some hell of a great 15, 60 year old bowlers out there.
Todd Fritz
I know, but stay on the topic. You had a great first hour.
Dan Patrick
It's just baseball, basketball, football and hockey or other team sports.
Todd Fritz
Is there anything else you want?
Dan Patrick
Certain relay races, if it's not that far, maybe a 40 year old can get around the track.
Todd Fritz
No, no, no, no. Okay, I think we got a poll question today. I think for at least for this hour. We'll check in with Corey Alexander, former player. He is working for ESPN Radio. He'll join us coming up in a little bit. Who had the best week in sports? We'll have that for you as well. Ross Tucker from Westwood One will stop by. We spent a little time yesterday talking about who has the most pressure going into this football season. As we are now 98 days away from the start of the NFL season.
Dan Patrick
It's one closer.
Todd Fritz
I know. I'm surprised the mothership doesn't have a countdown where they just put 98 up in the corner and then 90. Why don't we do that?
Dan Patrick
An actual clock?
Todd Fritz
Yeah, like just now. I don't want to do hour. I don't want to do day, hour, any of that.
Dan Patrick
Minutes and seconds. Yeah, I think we should. I think it should be like an actual running clock that counts down thousands of hours.
Todd Fritz
Oh, Marvin, are you capable. Do you know people who could do that for me here?
Paul Pabst
Fair question.
Todd Fritz
Yeah, one of the back room guys should be able to do this where we, we put the countdown to kickoff. Oh, there you go. Yes, Todd, once again to show the.
Dan Patrick
Power of the NFL over any other sport. Is there any other sport where you could possibly even remotely consider having a countdown of 100 days or less? I'm gonna answer that. No.
Todd Fritz
No. Yeah. Yes, Paul.
Dan Patrick
Do you guys find yourself. And again, this is a ritzy question. When football season ends, thinking yourself, what am I going to do on weekends? What am I going to do on Mondays and Thursday nights? Like, it's hard to picture the off season when you're in football season. Like the amount of free time football fans now have. I know there's other sports, but it doesn't fill it the same way. College football on Saturday is like a 14 hour session.
Todd Fritz
Well, I just need to get through the month of February. Like once the super bowl is over, get through February and then you get, you know, kind of leaving winter. And then there's baseball, basketball. You have, you know, you have some things going on. You know, you almost need to exhale. You gotta re. Energize. I think the football season is a lot. It just, you know, wall to wall once the season starts with games and then coverage, you know, if you're in fantasy, if you're gambling, any of those things, it's a lot, a lot of mental grind. But somehow we do it every single year. We somehow plow our way through it. Hashtag warrior. Couple of phone calls in here. Jay in Delaware. Hi, Jay. What's on your mind today?
Paul Pabst
Hey, good morning, Dan. First off, congrats on the new addition to the family.
Todd Fritz
Thank you.
Paul Pabst
First thing, first thing, Todd, like you said, had a great first hour. Two bleeps in the first half hour. I think, Todd, you should just grab a slider and go on, head home. Don't want you to ruin it for the rest of the day, bud.
Dan Patrick
That's a good idea.
Paul Pabst
And secondly, I want to piggyback off of the tear talk from yesterday. Absolutely loved it. My top five tier one pressure. I feel like our Giants, especially Dabel and Shane. Secondly, dolphins, Mike McDaniel, that whole staff, they've got to get into the playoffs. They've got to at least make it to the divisional round. Third, the 49ers. I'm a Niners fan, but with all the off season changes this year, I think this fan base is going to get a lot louder than it already is where Shanahan and Lynch are concerned. Fourth, I'm surprised nobody brought it up. Dak Prescott. I think Jerry Jones is going to get very impatient if they don't make it past the divisional round. First round, second round exits. I think, I think Jerry's getting and Jerry's going to get fed up with it. And fifth, I think it's Trevor Lawrence with all the. Everything that you guys said yesterday. Thanks, guys. Have a happy new Friday.
Todd Fritz
Thank you, Jay. Dak Prescott has a contract, so, I mean, what, what options does Jerry have? He had an option to not offer him that contract, but he did. So I. Is there pressure? You got a new head coach in there. You haven't paid Micah Parsons yet. How good are they going to be? I think Vegas has the over under at seven and a half. I mean, they could be another seven and ten season there, but I don't. They should have moved on from Dak, I thought, before they gave him this contract.
Dan Patrick
Yes, we're saying over under week six and a half of a Joe Milton sighting in Dallas. Yeah, yeah, he's been lighting it up in Dallas.
Todd Fritz
Of course.
Dan Patrick
Dude's got a cannon.
Todd Fritz
Heck yeah. Let's go.
Dan Patrick
I'm not rooting against Dak, but, man, I would love to see Joe Milton get a shot. Yes, Paul, I'm going to defer differ with this caller about the Tier one pressure on the New York Giants coaching staff. They were shockingly brought back last year at 3 and 14. They're clearly going to win, you know, three or four more games this year. They kind of made their bed, the Giants, that they're sticking with this coaching staff. Last year would have been the year to move on.
Todd Fritz
Yeah, I don't know what they're doing.
Dan Patrick
I think it's Tier two pressure.
Todd Fritz
Yeah. Okay. Everybody's gonna. Philly is gonna get the headline. The commanders get the headlines. Dallas always gets headlines. You know, the Giants can kind of live, you know, off campus here a little bit where they might not get as much, you know, focus. There'll be local pressure on them, but then you don't know what the jets are going to do. But as far as Dallas, I don't. I mean, I don't have great expectations. They feel like they're middle of the pack here, but I don't know if Jerry. I mean, what's he going to do? You're going to find your quarterback. Where. Where are you going to find your quarterback? And I don't know what. He's on the hook with Dak for how many years? But that's a mess. And we talked about. You would have thought that it was a good financial mess when you, when you go, okay, you got Dax, CD Lamb and Micah Parsons. These are all great players. I mean, Micah Parsons could be the best defensive player in the game. CD Lamb Is what, top five wide receiver. Now, Dak is just a good quarterback at times. He's been really good, but he's what, 32, injury prone? Never would have given him that kind of contract. I would have. I would have. Franchise, you know, just do it one more year, prove yourself. Let me see. But I never would have given them that contract. Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Paul Prescott's contract is set for the next three years. 2025 season, 26 and 27. They cannot. The best they could get out of him would be after the 2026 season with a major dead cap hit. He's their quarterback for the next three years if healthy.
Todd Fritz
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I don't have. I mean, we could play with you and toy with you and say, you know, let's talk about the cowboy. I. I talk about them when, you know, it's brought up to me, or there's something that has changed, but nothing's changed. Yeah. Dak being healthy. Okay. CD Lamb, you know, now you have a couple of receivers there. But I, you know, remember, Jerry was all in. I don't know what, you know, all in meant to Jerry. Kind of. I'm all in to do nothing is sort of what it played out. Eddie in Utah. Hi, Eddie. What's on your mind?
Paul Pabst
Hey, Dan, thanks for calling me back.
Dan Patrick
Appreciate it.
Paul Pabst
So, you guys on the topic at.
Todd Fritz
Hand, you guys, for Meat Friday, you guys play Todd Rundgren, and you guys.
Paul Pabst
Are Connecticut based, and Todd Rungren's from Philadelphia.
Todd Fritz
Oh, okay. So I see what you're saying, that we shouldn't be able to play Todd Rundgren. Accurate. Okay.
Dan Patrick
Looks like it's gonna be a John Mayer song then, I guess. Who else have we got in Connecticut?
Paul Pabst
Others.
Todd Fritz
Be good to you, to their daughters.
Dan Patrick
I gotta sing that.
Todd Fritz
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
I mean, the good news is we can keep the original stat of the day music. That's from Connecticut. Josta is from Connecticut.
Todd Fritz
Okay.
Dan Patrick
Eight breed from Connecticut. That's good.
Todd Fritz
Okay. Yes, Todd.
Dan Patrick
Michael Bolton can't sleep on Michael Bolton. That'll pump you up.
Todd Fritz
Yeah. Michael Bolton going through some health issues. Hopefully he is on the. On the men there rebounding.
Dan Patrick
We get Moby. Moby is from Connecticut. Wow, that's. I'll take. I'll take Bobes.
Todd Fritz
Just push play.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Todd Fritz
Is that what it is? Push play or just.
Dan Patrick
I think it's just play.
Todd Fritz
Just play. Yeah.
Dan Patrick
But I'm not sure. It might be push play. I don't know.
Todd Fritz
Yes, Paulie?
Dan Patrick
Connecticut may have the bands that are least conducive to pump up songs. Liz Fair. John Mayer, the Carpenters, Michael Bolton. Damn, that's not getting you ready for the seventh inning.
Todd Fritz
No, no. Yes. Tonight you may ask yourself if talking.
Dan Patrick
Heads is on that list. And they are from Connecticut. They are from Rhode Island. I'm looking at Connecticut. I must be looking at the wrong page. Connecticut musicians, Talking heads.
Todd Fritz
Okay.
Dan Patrick
No one associates them with Rhode island or Connecticut. It's a hundred percent New York City.
Todd Fritz
Yet a good first hour, Todd. Okay.
Dan Patrick
Got to do better with the research.
Todd Fritz
Keep your head up. Okay? I'll be all right. Come on. All right. All right. Let me take a break. We will revisit the game last night. Look ahead to Saturday's Game 6. Brian Cranston, the great actor will join us. Ross Tucker, our good buddy from Westwood One and your phone calls. We'll take a break. We're back after this.

Knicks and Pacers Saturday night in Indiana. The Knicks are four point underdogs. Corey Alexander been doing a great job calling the action on ESPN Radio. He's a college basketball analyst as well, played seven seasons in the NBA and he'll continue his coverage Tomorrow night game six starting at 7:30 Eastern on the mothership. Corey, the level of concern for Pacer fans, Pacer players is what in your opinion?
Paul Pabst
I believe it's probably about a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10 right now, Dan and the reason being is because, you know, Tyrese Halliburton was so lackadaisical in last night's game and it's something that we've seen from Tyrese Halliburton throughout his playoff career the last two seasons. And you don't there's no reason, there's really no rhythm to it. It's just some days it's he's not the same player. Especially coming off a historic performance, 32, 15 and 12 with zero turnovers in game five. You would expect it to see him be more aggressive on the road. They didn't see that. But I do believe he will see it tomorrow night in Game six, which that's why the concern is only a five.
Todd Fritz
I don't know if this is a big deal. It felt like somebody was or some people are trying to make it a big deal. Pascal Siakam postgame said they played harder than the Pacers. Like you can say they executed better. But in a Game five with a chance to go to the NBA Finals, a team played harder than you.
Paul Pabst
But it was the case he told the truth. And oftentimes, you know, that's the thing we asked players to be honest. He told the truth. And the Knicks did play harder. The Knicks played with a sense of urgency and a sense of desperation and the patience. Played as though they knew they had another opportunity to be able to close it out on their home floor in the Game six. And Pascal Siakam was spot on. The Knicks did play harder. It may not be something that you want to hear from your teammate in the locker room, but at the same time, everybody in the locker room that was part of that game can look each other in the eye and say, it's the absolute truth. The Knicks did play harder than we did tonight.
Todd Fritz
Tougher to defend Halliburton or Brunson.
Paul Pabst
Tougher to defend Brunson. And the reason being is because Brunson, regardless as to whether he's making shots, he's missing shots, whatever it may be, he is constantly going to stay aggressive. He's going to continue to come at you every opportunity he gets. And more importantly, Jalen Brunson, it doesn't matter who's on the floor, he can be playing with Michael Jordan. And when it's all said and done, when Jalen Brunson steps on the basketball court, he thinks he's the best player on the court. And he was last night.
Todd Fritz
Yeah, I'm fascinated by just his style. It's relentless. He just keeps coming, you know, it's, it's all, it's always going forward and I love that. I just don't know the rest. You know, Carl Anthony Townes played pretty well, it seemed, it seemed pretty mobile for a guy that was, you know, I guess had a questionable knee going into that game last night.
Paul Pabst
Yeah, he was very mobile. And when you consider calling Anthony Towns and he really gets his opportunities to start the second quarter, start the fourth quarter when Jalen Brunson's on the bench. But with the new starting lineup that Tibbs has employed over the last three games, Jalen doesn't have as much spacing, which makes the three point field goal so much more important for him. He got off to a hot start, knocking down threes in that first quarter. 14 first quarter points. I believe he had 16 in the third quarter. I'm not sure if he scored in the second or the fourth, but when you think about the second and the fourth along the cat, they have a great rotation in the way that they're doing things offensively, and it worked in game five. The problem is the Pacers know that Will it be able to work for the Knicks in game six on the road?
Todd Fritz
Why is it you think we in the media try to fast track somebody to be face of the face of the sport or the next great players? Is he a superstar? A lot of these players we're talking about are 23 to 27 years of age. It's like we don't give you that, that grace period before, you know, Michael Jordan had a grace period and you know, Bird and Magic, everybody kind of got a grace period. We don't let these younger players now like Cooper flag coming in. How long is his grace period before we say I don't know. Can you win the win a title here? Why do we do it?
Paul Pabst
We do it because, Dan, you've been in this industry much longer than I have. Believe it or not. I was with you in the gym. I believe it's Concord Athletic Club back in San Antonio getting shots up back in the day. So you've been doing this for a long time. And the difference is I can tell say that my company, you know, or our company, be it Disney, is going to pay $2.8 billion next year for rights in NBA which means that it's not about the games, it's about content. And so from 7am to 11pm you have to talk about the game. And therefore there have to be things to talk about. That's the difference in today's game in comparison to when I was playing in the NBA and even before when you're talking about there has to be some type of conversation to keep the viewers watching and keep them off of social media and keep them watching tv. So when you think about that, that's the reason why we it again, it's constant. And not, not only that, but these guys don't necessarily care about being the face of the NBA anymore. And the reason being is because when Michael Jordan was playing then you had to be the face of the NBA to become a billionaire with these contracts. Now you don't have to be. Anthony Everest can be a billionaire without being the face of the NBA after just three contracts and of course everything that he gets off the court.
Todd Fritz
Talking to Corey Alexander, ESPN radio analyst and he'll be calling game six on the mothership. That'll be at 7:30 Eastern on Saturday. How was my jumper by the way, in San Antonio?
Paul Pabst
I am calling to vouch for you, my man. You, you actually can shoot the basketball. I believe it was Vinnie Del Negro in there with you. I'm not sure you had another one of your Anchors, maybe Overman. I know it was a Stuart Scott, but I think it was maybe Overman with you. And it was Benny Del Negro. Myself, I'm not sure. Dale Dimps I know was in there. But you can shoot the basketball, man. If anybody ever questions it, tell them to come see me. I've seen it with my own two eyes. You were knocking down shots that day.
Todd Fritz
Thank you, I appreciate that. And you're a great journalist is what you are. I think I'm a better deep shooter than Vinnie Del Negro. Vinnie was a great 15 to 18ft, but he didn't come out to where grown men shoot.
Paul Pabst
Vinnie was a master of the mid range. That was his game. But I agree. And I used to talk to him all the time in practice. I was like, come on out here in the deep water, get out of the kiddie pool. He wanted no problem with that. But in the kiddie pool, he's one of the best to ever do it.
Todd Fritz
Best shooter you ever faced?
Paul Pabst
The best shooter I've ever faced. I'm going to go as far as to say his name is now Mahmoud Abdul Rahul. He was once Chris Jackson, but you're talking about one of the best of the best. And again, the dude was relentless. He had the best touch, you know, he was so locked in on making every possible shot and it was so quick, honestly. And again, you know, Steph Curry is my nephew. I love him to death. Dallas like a big brother to me. Chris Jackson was Steph Curry before Steph Curry. The way the game has changed has allowed for Steph Curry to be able to do what he's doing. If you couldn't hand check Chris Jackson, Mahmoud Abdul Rahul, if you couldn't be physical with him, the way that the game is played now, I'm not saying that he would have been step, but he would have been very close to what we've seen Steph do over the last 10 years.
Todd Fritz
You want to talk about getting a shot off, like, you know, when, when he would, his handle was wonderful. And when he was at LSU and he was averaging 30 a game, you know, we didn't. You had Shaq and Stanley Roberts, but the best player was, you know, 6ft tall in Chris Jackson. But in today's game, you imagine today's game with Chris, you know, just so quick at getting that shot off, so.
Paul Pabst
Quick at getting the shot off, but so quick in general because as you mentioned the handle. Then he hit me with a between the legs crossover one time and I watched it on the Jumbotron And I went off the screen completely. You couldn't even find me. And. And he, he just absolutely lost me. But the thing is in that era, and we're going Back to this is 96, my rookie year playing against him, you had to be able to defend and that's the reason why he didn't get as many minutes. He didn't get as many opportunities because he struggled defensively. In today's game, where they often find ways to hide guys who lack a defensive end and you can keep them on the floor for 35 to 40 minutes if he had that type of. I mean, he had that type of time. And as you talked about that grace period, I mean again, we talked. Still talking about one of the all time greats.
Todd Fritz
Yeah. Mark Price is another player who had an unbelievably just go up quick and you know, he would average 2010. You know, there, there's a lot of those. Kevin Johnson was another 2010 guy there. Just felt like, you know, that's what you had to do back then. That's when you had true point guards. But then Steph became a points guard instead. You know, like he created his own label there. Did you have your welcome to the NBA moment?
Paul Pabst
I had a lot of them. And when you just mentioned those names, Mark Price, Kevin Johnson, I started getting flashbacks from all those guys having to deal with. But my, my welcome to the NBA moment, believe it or not, came in preseason, my rookie year. And I was playing against Tim Hardaway at utep. So a preseason game at utep. And of course I watched so much. Oh home court. I watched so much Tim Hardaway growing up and playing. And before the game, you know, I'm a fan. I walked up to him and I said, hey, Tim, don't hit me with that. And he said, don't worry about it, Corey. You don't have to be concerned. But watch what I do to Avery. And he bought it, put out a new move for Avery in that game. Of course, those two guys had history for being with the warriors together. And after he hit Avery with the moves and pretty much spun Avery in a circle, he just looked over at me and gave me a wink. And I knew I might be in for trouble in this league from that point on.
Todd Fritz
Does it matter who wins the East? When you look at OKC and how good they've been regular season, postseason, I.
Paul Pabst
Do think it matters. And the reason being is because as good as OKC has been, they are the best team in the NBA. They have the best player right now. In the NBA, in sga. But the Indiana Pacers can give them a handful. They can give them everything they want. And the reason being is because Indiana as a team is just as deep as are the, the Thunder and they would absolutely make that a series. I'm not sure if it would be a great series if they're going up against the Knicks because the Knicks are so front loaded. But when you think about going 1 through 12, the Pacers are right there. They don't have the star that the, that the Thunder have in sga, but from a depth standpoint, they can match them. So to toe.
Todd Fritz
And I know it sounds blasphemous to say this, but SGA has a game. He can lead the league in scoring multiple years. And you know, the last time Iverson was like that, obviously Jordan was like, there aren't a lot of guys that you go every year. Like he could lead the league in scoring the next five years. I wouldn't be surprised at all. But he doesn't. There's no highlights really. It's just, it's methodical. I'm coming at you and it may be mid range jumpers, it may be layups, but that's it. No threes. But it's, it's pretty dominating in a, in a quiet way. I think it really is.
Paul Pabst
And the reason why I think that he won't end up being a guy that leads the league in scoring for the next few years is because he's becoming an even better playmaker. And one of the things that Shade said earlier, I had a chance. My first TV game, believe it or not, was in Oklahoma City this year. And Mark Daignall told us that Shay has come into this season with intent on empowering his teammates because he wants to make sure that they are prepared when we get to the playoffs. And it has worked. You've seen what J Dub, Jalen Williams has done, you've seen what Chet has done. You consider a team that is really gel around their superstar. But more importantly, each and every one of those guys has had better and career years even though he continues to lead a league in scoring. And now you see him becoming much more facilitator, playmaker. I think he's only going to get better over these next few years.
Todd Fritz
We came up with a new category. It's, you know, not hall of Famer, but hall of Great. So like Jamal Crawford, Joe Johnson, you know, the guys who aren't hall of Famers, but they're right there. So do you have a nominee for the hall of Great.
Paul Pabst
I can give you a bunch of them. I'll start with Rip Hamilton. And I got a chance to see Rip at the, you know, EYBL event last weekend. He's a guy that. I'm not sure if he'll get into the hall of Fame, but he is absolutely great. You think about Larry Johnson. I mean, you could. You can look at the Knicks sideline alone, the people showing up, Latrell Spreewell, Alan Hustler. You go down the list of guys who have been there. Just the Knicks breaks alone, that I've been fortunate to be able to hang out with for the last couple of days in this series. All those guys are in that area. They're All Stars. And at the same time, may not be hall of Famers, but, you know, you cannot duplicate what those guys were able to do, especially in the era in which they were able to do it. And you take each and every one of those guys and you transplant them into today's era. That scoring average goes up, five to six more points per game, that efficiency goes up. And now you're talking about guys who are hall of Fame players.
Todd Fritz
Anybody scare you when you play?
Paul Pabst
I mean, Michael Jordan, I mean, but other than that, no. But, you know, the first time I met Mike Dan, we were at a game, it's called the World's Greatest Pickup Game in Greensboro, North Carolina. His agent, Fred Whitfield. We should put it on. And you walk in the room, and the first time you see Mike, it's that aura around him. But one thing about Michael Jordan, he doesn't let you look at him like that because he immediately starts talking trash to you. And he knows all of your history, your background or whatever it may be. So he basically welcomes people by talking trash to them. And all of a sudden, now you open up, you're having this debate with Michael Jordan. You walk away from there thinking to yourself, wow, I just got a chance to talk to Michael Jordan. But when it's all said and done, when you got to see him in that Chicago 23, it was a different world. And again, like, just to see the way that the community showed up and cheered for him, even against you on home games, etc. That would be the only guy that I think that's really. During my time of covering the NBA, that's really incited fear into anyone, and that includes any player today. I mean, he's the only guy that I thought that people actually fear.
Todd Fritz
Great to talk to you. Let's do this again. Have fun on Saturday Safe travels to Indiana.
Paul Pabst
Sounds good, my man. Thanks for having me.

It may not happen this upcoming season, but March Madness in 2026 you might see 72 to 76 teams in the field. There are conversations going on right now with the NCAA and also their TV partners, which includes CBS and that would be expanding the tournament, which is something that I told you about a while ago that I'd gotten word that they might go to 76, but they probably would do 72 and then the next step would be to go to 76. They're always going to add, they'll never subtract. There's so much money at stake. That's why, you know, when people were kicking and screaming about going from national title game to now having four teams in there to now you have 12, they got to 12. They were like, well, why don't we get to 16? Because everybody realized that there's billions of dollars at stake here. And that's what everybody is, you know, trying to find a, a chair to sit. You know, when the music stops, you want to have a chair to sit and you go, okay, we're going to be able to make money. You know, the sec, I could see the SEC now it's not going to happen, but I could see the SEC saying to the rest of college football, you know what, we'll just have our own league. The heck with you guys, we'll just do it. We'll keep all the money that we make and you know, we're the best league. People want to watch us. And if, if you don't let us get a certain number of schools into the playoffs, I mean, Greg Sankey will probably join us next week. The commissioner of the sec, I mean, he's trying to be very pragmatic about this, but he also has to be fair to, you know, his teams, to his conference of we got the best conference. Why are, you know, are you going to limit the number of teams that we can have in here? Shouldn't we get an automatic whatever it is? And I think that's where we're headed with college football, that you're going to go to a 16 team playoff schedule coming up in 20, 26. And I think they're going to expand March Madness as well.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, Paul, I have a quick pie to the face bet off the possible NCAA basketball expansion.
Todd Fritz
Whoa.
Dan Patrick
I'm going to say it will not happen when we do this show. Let's say a year from today, it still has been not been approved and there will not be a expansion of the college basketball tournament.
Todd Fritz
Does anybody, anybody want a piece of that pie to the face? Expansion.
Dan Patrick
It will not be expanded. You're saying the side of the bet we would have to take is that it will expand.
Paul Pabst
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
And everyone expects it to. I think the sentiment is against it and the networks are not going to come to an agreement.
Todd Fritz
I just think it means more, you know, play in games that, you know, first four that you just load up those first two like Tuesday and Wednesday, you just load them up. Nobody's going to go, oh, too many games at the start. I mean, the only people who would complain is when you fill out your brackets, do you have to fill out your brackets and include those games as well? Other than that, I think people are fine with it. It's just, you know, But a couple extra teams and a couple extra games, I don't, I don't see any downside to it now. I didn't want it to expand to this many to begin with. I'd still like it to have, you know, a certain number that, you know, it's hard to get in. It's hard to win now. Everybody gets in. But I think they'll expand. I don't know if they'll expand next year, but they will. By the time we're done with this show, I think they will have gotten to 72, if not 76. By the way, we're going to slide into the weekend. And that's brought to you by Kings Hawaiian. They want you to welcome summer and Sliders. Perfect meal. We're having sliders today for our brunch. Our meat Friday. Get ready for summer grilling season. Go to the bakery or deli section of your local grocery store and pick up the irresistible Kings Hawaiian rolls and slider buns and enjoy. So sliding into the weekend, Knicks Pacers Game 6. And Knicks are getting four Yankees at the Dodgers. That's spicy.
Dan Patrick
That's tasty.
Todd Fritz
That is really nice there. Tigers, who I still think have the best record in baseball at the Royals. And Tariq Skubal, he is supposed to be on the bump for the Tigers. He, of course, won his second Cy Young, I believe. No, he had the Triple Crown is what he.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, he has one, but.
Todd Fritz
But he's a huge favorite to win his second s. The Memorial Tournament. That's Jack's tournament. Jack a little frosty. It sounded like that Roy McElroy not playing. And nobody told Jack, he didn't tell Jack that he wasn't playing in the Memorial. And all of those great players, they always, you know, they acknowledge Jack and you try to play in the Memorial. How about the WNBA? Sky at the wings, Paige Beckers, she's averaging 14 and 6. I saw where Diana Taurasi said, when it's all said and done, Paige Beckers will be the best player in the wnba. She's a great player. I don't know know if she's going to be the best player in the wnba. But off to a pretty good start there. All right, who had the. Who had the best week in sports? Todd, I'll start with you.
Dan Patrick
You mentioned them a few times earlier in the show. Carl Anthony towns in games two through five versus the Pacers starting last Friday. 20 points, 24, 24 and 24 again in games three through five, 15, 12 and 13 boards. Cat, he's my guy.
Todd Fritz
All right. Seaton O' Connor. The best week in sports.
