The best things in life are on the other side of difficult conversations. But if we're honest, most people run from them. Staying silent, missing chances, and holding themselves back. I know this is true because I used to be like that until I realized that negotiation isn't a talent. It's a skill that anyone can learn. And once I did, everything changed. I went from people pleaser to confident communicator. And Now I teach Fortune 500 leaders and top executives how to do the same. Listen to negotiate. Anything on the iHeartrade Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. You are listening to the Dan Patrick show on Fox Sports Radio. Yesterday we saw got the report that NBC has hired Michael Jordan as a special contributor to their NBA package. No details. And we, of course, are part of Peacock, which is owned by NBC. So I went up the flagpole and I'm like, can somebody help me understand what's going on with Michael Jordan? What's his role? What does that mean? Crickets? And I went, hello. Hello. I used to be a big deal. Apparently not anymore. And so I went outside of the company and I said, okay, got any indication on what Michael's going to do? And then I was told, hey, I don't have this definite, but I know that Mike's going to be used throughout the year on the broadcast. I don't know. Are they going to bring him in as an analyst? Are they going to go to him to do interviews? I. I can't imagine Michael, let's say you pay him. What Brady's getting from Fox, that doesn't change his life. Mike is worth $2 billion. He loves to play golf. I'm just surprised that unless there's a bigger picture here, which there has to be, but no details here, it's not like Mike is, you know, going to be showing up like Charles Barkley and Shaquille o' Neal. When Mike put out the Last Dance documentary, that was strategic to remind a whole different generation of how great Michael Jordan was. Because Mike did not want to do that. I had friends who worked at NBA Entertainment, and they were sitting on this treasure trove of interviews, footage, interviews from other players. Mike had control over this. And they would be filming. And I remember back in the day, you'd see the guys from NBA Entertainment, they'd be filming, and I would say, what's this for. And one of the guys said, we don't know. We're just following Michael. And I kept thinking, you know, is there something down the road? And then, of course, we got the last dance. Michael wanted to remind everybody, because LeBron had just won a title. And I think that's when Mike wanted to let everybody know, hey, check out YouTube. Check out my highlights. I'm still the greatest player ever play this game. But as far as what Mike's going to do for NBC and Peacock for their NBA coverage, I don't know. And even speculating, I. I want to be fair, because NBC is probably going to have an announcement at some point with Mike, and I'm gonna guess Michael. And, you know, maybe this is one of those. We're gonna figure it out as we go, what you want to do, how you want to do this. But I. I got no indication yesterday from anybody at NBC. I think it's. I think it's in the. I think they're still working it out. How's that? Yeah, Paulie.
Ryan Seacrest
Michael Jordan made an estimated $300 million.
Dan Patrick
In 2024 just in earnings from Nike and other entities. Plus, he sold his stake in his.
Ryan Seacrest
Basketball team, which earned him at least another 900 million. Could you see Michael being used? Because my guess is he's not going to fly up for a Tuesday night.
Dan Patrick
Breakdown of the games.
Ryan Seacrest
But when Kobe Bryant did details, and it was Kobe breaking down film and giving a deep dive opinion, well produced to get Michael Jordan's mind with free freedom to talk without a limit on.
Dan Patrick
It would be fantastic. Yeah, I think if you wanted to position him in a, you know, with this similar format, I think it would be great to get inside. You know, Kobe with details was wonderful, because you understood just, you know, the minutiae that was important to him. And I'm sure Mike was the same way. But if you can get him to look at certain aspects of a team or a player, break that down, great. I just don't know if, you know, Mike's availability. Yes. That's what's so weird about it, is that it feels like normally you would get somebody like that, put them on the road, and they would go interview a star athlete or whatever, but I think it's really more like, okay, star athlete. What do you want to ask me? I know I'm Michael Jordan. What do you want to know from me instead of him learning about that person? Coming up, Cooper. Flag interviews. Michael Jordan. All right, Cooper, what do you have to ask me about? How to do this? Yeah, whatever. You want? I'll do my best. 8, 7, 7, 3. DP Show. Email address dp@danpatrick.com Twitter handle it DP Show. Good morning. If you're watching on Peacock or listening on our radio affiliates around the country. So the Mavs win the lottery. Spurs 76ers and Hornets go 2, 3, and 4. Nick's up three 1. Jason Tatum. Still waiting for results of that MRI, but certainly the early indicator was an Achilles. Timberwolves are trying to say goodbye to the warriors, up three games to one. And tonight, Pacers at the Cavs. Pacers are getting seven and a half. The Nuggets are getting 10 at Oklahoma City. Poll question for hour two is going to be what? Seaton. We got a couple of them up there right now. Who would you rather have, Anthony Davis and Cooper Flag or Luka Doncic? I think that people are getting this wrong. I think I would still rather have Luca than both of those dudes. That's just me, though. We also put up there not. Wait a minute, wait a minute. So if I said to Dallas, we're going to send Luca back and. But Cooper Flag and AD Are going to the Lakers. So you're saying if you're Dallas, you would still want Luca? I would. What would the Lakers want? I think you should want Luca, too.
Ryan Seacrest
If you.
Dan Patrick
If you put it another way, that's. That's extremely disrespectful. But okay, I'll throw it out there. Okay. Would you rather have street clothes and a high school kid or. Or a grown man in street clothes? You know? Yeah, yeah, I know that Luca has proven his greatness, and Cooper Flag is projected to be great. AD Certainly helps. That void in the middle that Minnesota took advantage of. Everybody took advantage of. It seemed like. Yeah, that's interesting. We also have up there a topic that we haven't really gotten into yet, but yesterday, Marvin agreed to dot, dot, dot a pie in the face or getting hit in the nuts. You said the Celtics weren't going to lose another game. Man, what a hot take that lasted not even 24 hours. That's like eight. Where do you want the pie? Where do you want the pie? Is such a funny way to that question. What do I want the piece? Yes. And. Well, I want the pie in the face, in my belly. No, but you said yesterday that you would take a pie to the groin. I did not. But for content's sake, I will take a pie. I heard. I don't know, because we talked about, you know, who wins if they're Giving you a pie to the groin. Yeah. And I listened back and I emphatically said, no pie in the pants. I absolutely said no to that. Okay. In my head, there was a curse word. But you know what? It's probably an easier cleanup, so I'm going to take a pie to the plums. Okay. All right. Who would you like to give you? Ray Back room Ray. Ray was gentle last time. Really? That's right. Okay. All right. Ray, who's the producer of the gambling podcast, the self proclaimed fastest guy in the building. Everybody wants to. I, I. There was a big argument the other day about who's the fastest guy in the building. All the back room guys and. And all of a sudden they say, all right, I'll put up 500. You guys have a race, winner take all. And one of the people we thought would be involved and be one of the favorites who did come out and say that he could beat Zion Williamson in a race. Rob, the resident Knicks fan, he says that he's not racing. And I went, okay. I don't know why, but he did say he would beat Zion in a race. Like, so random, you know? You know how fast I am. I could beat Zion. What? So I put my yearly salary. Yeah, I'm taking Zion. Yeah. Yeah, I'm taking Zion. But now he might be able to beat Luca, but I don't think he's gonna be. No, still not Luca. Yeah. So we're gonna have that for you. The. Who is the fastest man in the building have that for you coming up. That's a major accomplishment, by the way. Fastest man in the building. No sleep on that. Well, there's. There's only 12 of us here, and I'm not going to be running. Todd's not going to be running, so there's going to be a big. German's not running. So we're down to maybe nine, maybe eight. But the fastest man in the building. You'll get to wear that title for a year. For a year. What other poll questions? Seaton for hour two. Yeah, those are. Those are the ones we're going with right now. Let me. I could get you some results if you'd like. By the. The worst record ending up with the number one pick has happened nine times in the history of the lottery. Nine times. Nine times. The last time, 2018, Phoenix Suns. DeAndre Ayton. That was the Luca draft. Trey Young. If you had to do it over all, imagine you whiffed on two future hall of famers. Not just Luca. You whiffed on Trey Young as well. Oh, boy. That's when owners get involved and you say, no, no, no. You know, we want somebody who's local. Went to U of A, and we got deandre Ayton and go, okay. You had Lucas coach on your coaching staff. Yes.
Ryan Seacrest
If you screw up the draft at the one spot, you just got to.
Dan Patrick
Pray that the 2, 3, and 4 aren't hall of Famers.
Ryan Seacrest
If you go back, remember Anthony Bennett of UNLV?
Dan Patrick
What was that, 2000 Cavaliers, 2013 to.
Ryan Seacrest
The Cavs, and he did almost nothing like he was a true bust.
Dan Patrick
I remember watching UNLV play, and I couldn't remember Anthony Bennett. He looked like a superstar. The players drafted after him, nice players. Victor Oladipo, Otto Porter, Cody Zeller, Alex.
Ryan Seacrest
Len Nerland's Noel.
Dan Patrick
You're pretty safe there. Yeah. I remember getting into an argument with Chris Mannix. Remember Chris Mannix? I told him Victor Oladipo would have been a better draft pick than Anthony Bennett. I have the schedule release for the international games because nothing is going to be a secret, apparently, by tomorrow night. I'll have that for you coming up in about 10 minutes from now. Couple of phone calls in here. Hunter in West Virginia. Hi, Hunter. Good morning.
Ryan Seacrest
Dan's good to talk to you again.
Dan Patrick
Well, thank you, Hunter. I had a couple of quick things. First of all, I'd like to weigh in on today's poll question. I would rather take Luca Don Chick.
Ryan Seacrest
He is a very, very good player.
Dan Patrick
And I think Jerry west said it best a few years ago when he was on that podcast. I forgot the name of it, but.
Ryan Seacrest
He'S a very, very good player. So I also.

I also want to wish you.

Fellow named Dan who makes mornings much more grand. Fritzi and Seaton are a hoot. Paulie is swelled to boot, and Marvin's.
Dan Patrick
No flash in the pan. Well, thank you, Hunter. That's some positivity here on a Tuesday morning. Yeah, positivity. Yes. Marvin. We'll be down in Atlanta for your birthday. What are we doing? I don't know. I guess we go to dinner on Thursday night at Magic. Magic City. Mm. It's about a mile away. Yeah. From where we're staying. Oh, it's miles away from where I'm standing. I'm not Unless Cardi B. Is going to be there dancing, I don't think I'm gonna. She was just at the game. She was just at the Knicks game with Stefan Diggs. Maybe that's why she was in my mind sitting next to the Kardashians and Timothee Chalamet. Timothy Chalamet. Timmy's ballin right now. Hey, that kid is ballin' Tim Chalamet loves hoops. Heck yeah, dude. He. He loves playing pickup basketball and I love that guy. Yeah. And I respect that. Yeah. Although I don't need the Kardashians there. Why not? I don't. No, no, don't take up a good seat. Why not? He's just there with her guy. Loving it. Bring somebody who knows basketball. I mean, she dated a lot of the basketball players, but I. I don't know. Kendall or Kylie? I can't tell. I. Both of them. I think Kendall. What? What does Cardi B. Know? What does she know? Yeah, I don't know that she knows basketball necessarily. I think she's a baller. He didn't read about him. Bloody. Yes, Marvin. Kendall doesn't know that much about basketball. She dated Ben Simmons. Dang. Okay. Oh, now what? Who was our guy in Phoenix? Devin Booker. He's. He's in orbit there for a while every couple of months. Yeah, she's got a type. Yeah. Not, but.
Ryan Seacrest
But she likes scores and non scores.
Dan Patrick
She's open minded. Oh, I think they all score. They all happen to be filthy rich.
Ryan Seacrest
Ben Simmons waited like three or four weeks. You know, they want to take it to the.
Dan Patrick
I'm sorry, I don't score very often. For the first time ever, Kendall, I'm going to shoot my shot. Anywho, nice breakdown. Yeah, he's just there with like a lot of defense, a lot of protection, but not gonna use it. Yes. Paul, you were mentioning this before. Timothee Chalamet is on a great run. Yeah.
Ryan Seacrest
Is he both a movie star and great actor?
Dan Patrick
Yes, he's both. Yeah, man.
Ryan Seacrest
At a young age.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I think so. I think now he could just cash in on his looks and be in movies like Dune and some of those, you know, box office hits. But I think he wants to be a great actor and I think the sports stuff he did, college game day.
Ryan Seacrest
He'S done a lot of sports stuff. It's really getting to. People are embracing.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, yeah, I respect him. There's a difference between being a star and being a great actor. Okay. And this, this led me to what I was saying initially about Jason Tatum and that he is a great basketball player, not a star. Trey Young is a star. Jason Tatum is a better basketball player. That's the difference. That's what I've tried to bring up. And everybody is, I think, missing that point. Greg Anthony, who criticized me on social media, he's going to join us coming up next hour, I believe. But that was the point I'm trying to make. There are a couple of stars, but then there are great basketball players. How about we take a break? And I feel weird discussing this today, certainly with what happened with Jason Tatum, but Greg, Greg is going to join us. Christopher Mad Dog Russo is going to join us. Greg Anthony, former NBA player, now works for NBA tv. He'll join us coming up. I think he took offense to my opinion on Jayson Tatum. This is prior to the injury last night. Still waiting for the results of that mri. I also have the list of international games for the NFL. Have that for you coming up as well. Christopher Mad Dog Russo, host of Mad Dog unleashed on Sirius XM channel 82, host of ESPN's First Take and Mad Dog Sports radio channel and Mad Dog unleashed, weekdays at 3 Eastern. Also, you can see him on First Take with Stephen A. Smith. Are you a conspiracy theorist when it comes to sports?
Ryan Seacrest
Well, you're talking about the Mavericks. I mean, it is a little crazy. I mean, a 1.8% chance to get the lottery and to win the lottery and they get it, you know, I understand they're so worried about tanking. But, Danny, isn't there something wrong when Utah, Washington, and Charlotte can't win the freaking lottery or don't have a chance to get the top three picks? Isn't that. Isn't that wrong in sports? And I understand they're worried about these teams at 20 games to go, not caring, which is an indictment in itself. But isn't that. Isn't it time maybe we pass on the lottery and give those worst teams the best chance to get the 1 pick? Why don't we just do the lottery with the three or four records and not include Dallas or Houston? That was a trade, but you know what I'm saying, To give the worst teams the chance to get. I mean, really. I mean, that is a little rough. And last year, obviously, Atlanta won the lottery. They had a 3% chance to win, so. And you know, it all starts with Ewing in 85. With Stern, it was a TV show at first. They get a little TV juice, but, you know, am I a conspiracy theory theorist? No. But I think you and I both agree it doesn't look good for the NBA that the Mavericks win the lottery after they trade Luca. You know, my. Here's what my 21 year old said, dad, somebody must have told Nico Harrison, do us a favor, get Luca to a big market, and we'll figure out a way for you to get the number one. A draft. I mean, that's what it leads to. That's what it leads to.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. But you start to look at it, you go, okay, LeBron went to his hometown. Derrick Rose went to his hometown. Ewing goes to the Knicks. Everything that was attached to that. Were you. Were you on the air in 85?
Ryan Seacrest
Not in New York. Okay, I was in Orlando. I don't remember. Everybody remembers the great picture of the busher who was all excited and Ewing and, you know, there was a lot of people who thought that was rigged. You and I, you know, are good sports fans. We don't think it's rigged, but it doesn't look good. And I. Again, Utah, Washington and Charlotte earned it. They deserve to have the top three, four picks in a draft. They have a. I mean, what did Utah get, the sixth pick, fifth pick? Charlotte got the sixth, seventh pick. It's. And there's only four or five guys who make a big difference anyway. Flag is one of them. And he ends up going to the team that doesn't really need him. You know, with Kyrie and with the front court and of course, Anthony Davis, it looks bad for the NBA. And the idea that we got to make sure we put a lottery in so the San Antonio spurs don't tank, which what they did to get Duncan is really an indictment on the whole sport. Isn't the idea to try to go out there and win every game that you play, it's an indictment in the whole sport.
Dan Patrick
How about instead of a final four, you have the bottom four and you have the bottom four teams play for the right to have the number one pick. Like I have to incentivize some of these teams because Mark Cuban got fined $600,000 when he was on our show a couple of years ago by saying that basically it was a front office tanking that they were guilty of. So that's where you know the players who are playing are going to play hard. You just don't put the best players out there.
Ryan Seacrest
Correct.
Dan Patrick
Play hard. Is there a way to incentivize teams? Let's say once you get eliminated, the number of wins you have after you get eliminated will create the order, the draft order.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah, that's a good point. Something like that. You know, to avoid these teams just, you know, basically throwing up their hands in the last 10, 12, 13 games of the year. Yeah, you would think there's a element of it that they can do something. And it's a TV show. They like the drama, they like the cards up. It's a TV show. And the NBA should eliminate the idea that they're going to have a TV show to determine who goes out there and gets the number and gets the card flipped. I mean, it really is. I mean, Dallas wins the lottery. I mean, San Antonio gets the second pick. I mean really, I mean, come. Why don't we just get the spurs, six players, for crying out loud. It looks very bad for the NBA. I don't know and I don't believe it is a conspiracy. I'm with you. But it looks. Perception is awful. And if I got a 23 year old is a good NBA fan and a good sports fan. If he says that to me at 9 o' clock last night, that's a problem. That is a problem.
Dan Patrick
Christopher Mad Dog Russo, host of Mad Dog Unleashed. And you can also see him on first Take usually every Wednesday with Stephen A. Smith. I likened the spotlight to vitamin D. You know, some of us, you know, getting out and getting sunshine. The spotlight is vitamin D to Jalen Brunson. He seems to just, he absorbs it and you know, once again, when you, you're around him, you stand next to him like you're Going, that guy is going off for, you know, this is his, what, 17th time he's had 30 or more points in a playoff game.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah, he's not a tremendous shot. He kept a minute last night. He had that great third quarter with the 18 points. And I just heard you there a little while ago with Tatum. I mean, it's a horrific, probably a bad injury. I don't think they've announced anything yet, and I hate to see, we all hate to see it. He's. He's a great player. But the Knicks are going to win that. I don't want to hear a Celtic fan say, well, we could have. No, the game was over. I mean, it was 113, 104 when he got hurt. The Knicks won that game in the third quarter. They got offense. But Brunson has been incredible. You're 100% right. I mean, nobody saw this. I say one thing that's interesting. If you go back to that Dallas, Utah series when he was a maverick in the first half of it about what it was a four or five years ago, he played. Luca was out. He played really well in that series. Obviously, Leon rose short and then with Luca, came back in the second half of the series and they beat the star, beat the Jazz in six games. But Brunson in the first half of that series did an incredible job. I've heard he's a great guy. I mean, it seems like he's even like the commercial he does. I like the way he handles it with defenseo. I mean, listen, last night, he was great. He gets to his spots. I am shocked. I thought after the Celtics won game three, they were going to figure out a way to get back and win this series. I, you know, I'm not shocked about Cleveland. I thought Cleveland was a paper tiger. I thought they were a regular season team. I think Indiana's very underrated. That series isn't over yet. But I'm not shocked. They're up 3:1. I think we're all shocked that the Knicks are up 3:1. And now they're going to, obviously, you know, he's not going to play. So they're going to figure out a way to win that series. You know, and I said yesterday on my show there, Dan, I guess I was wrong. I thought there were six teams that had a chance to win a championship. It was wide open. I have not been that impressed with Oklahoma City. I am not that impressed with Denver. You know, the Celtics have been vulnerable. And the two teams, I said, I don't think they can win a championship with the warriors and the Knicks. Maybe I got it wrong. Maybe the Knicks will win the NBA title after all is said and done. Because they got four guys yesterday who all scored and they, they steamrolled. They threw the. They threw these. To quote Lupica, they threw the Celtics on a flight of stairs in that third quarter yesterday. They killed him in that third quarter. And that's the quarter the Celtics usually win. So good for them. And Brunson is tremendous, as you said. Very. He's not underrated anymore. He was underrated. Coming to the Knicks.
Dan Patrick
I got roughed up by a couple of former NBA players on social media. I talked about Jason Tatum being a great player, but not a star. You know, that there's certain. There's only a couple players and it. And I liken this to, you know, Tom Cruise is not necessarily a great actor as much as he is a star.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah, I agree.
Dan Patrick
Bradley Cooper is a star, you know, and a great actor. And then I, I likened it to Trey Young. He's got star power. Luca has star power. Steph Curry has star power. There's only a couple of play like SGA has no star power. He's an unbelievable player. He's going to be the mvp. But he doesn't. People aren't going, hey, when's SGA playing? If Steph Curry's playing. Younger kids love Trey Young. Luke has got star power. But I caught some flack. Greg Anthony was going to join us. He was like, how can you say that? He's not a star. He's first team all NBA five times. Which is true. He is a great player. But having star power. You go out to see the Celtics. Yeah, you're not necessarily going to see him. And I didn't. It came off as a slight. I didn't mean it that way. I'm just letting people know there's only a couple of players that you go, I'm coming out to see you. And he wasn't on that short list. I don't even know if Joker's on that list, Chris, because.
Ryan Seacrest
Oh, I don't think Kawhi Leonard is either. You know, he's a great player. But you think people are flocking to get by tickets. First off, he never plays, but you think people are flocking to. Giannis is a star. I mean, the way he plays, he would be on that list that you mentioned. I know where you're coming from, though. I can see your point. He's a great, great player. The ball sticks to him sometimes. You Know, the ball has a tendency to stick to him a little too much to me, but, you know, I generally understand where you're coming from. I think you are probably 100% right. I don't like Trae Young. To me, he keeps both teams in the game. I mean, his shot selection, I'm not a big fan.
Dan Patrick
He's not a better player than Jason Tate. I'm saying he's got star young. Kids love Trae Young.
Ryan Seacrest
They do tune in, but I think they overrate Trey Young because he does have star power. I don't think he's a great player. I think he's got that little panache which make as he shoots 40 footers. He's small, he's flashy. But I know where you're coming from. I think there is something where with Tatum, you watch the franchise more than you go watch the individual player. You know, I don't know if people in Oklahoma City are buying tickets because Tatum's coming to town. They're buying tickets because. Because the Celtics are coming to town. And that's probably what. What you meant. When Giannis comes to town, they're buying tickets. You know, when Curry comes to town, they're buying the tickets. You know, Jokic, I think he's probably a star. Got star power because he's so unorthodox. You know, he's.
Dan Patrick
I don't know if I. I can see that at the Y. I can see there's that guy at the Y where you go, Tim, he. He scores, passes, rebound, does everything. And Luke is the best or Jokic is the best player in the game. I'm just saying star power to come out and watch. Anthony Edwards has more star power than Joker does, in my opinion. Like, there's a. I gotta go see that guy. And so the one thing I would.
Ryan Seacrest
Disagree with you on with that is Jokic is so unorthodox that he's so unique. You know, big, lumbering guy, can handle the ball, shoots threes, great passer. There's an element of that. Just how is he doing this? And so you go to the games for that reason. But I do understand exactly what you're saying about Tatum. If you're getting grief, they shouldn't be giving you grief. It's a sports opinion and you're a thou. I can understand that. To where you're coming from. And again, back to Brunson. I mean, it's incredible. You know, he gets to his spots. He's, you know, you would never think. Little bit of a guy, you Know, I never thought, who thought he was going to be this great coming out of college? I mean, a little bit like he's better, but a touch a little bit like Fred Van Fleet. I never thought he was going to be a good NBA player. No, he's not as good as Brunson, but, but you, but you get the idea. And sga. I think you're right. He's great, but he doesn't have that. And I'd say right now Oklahoma City is a little overrated. I mean, for a team that won 68 games, I mean, they were down 29 in game three to Memphis and Memphis, you know, had Moran out. They're lucky they got through the game the other day.
Dan Patrick
Again, you know, this is going to come back and bite you. You know, that's they're going to win the title.
Ryan Seacrest
Watch them win the title and they very well. I haven't been impressed with Minnesota. I mean, I didn't see the second half last night when they played great before. They've worked awfully hard to beat Golden State. I mean, and they have no Curry and they've worked awfully hard. I mean, I don't know. I mean, I, I, I'm not saying the 86 Celtics, let's put it that way. Well, the 82, 83, 76ers or the 66, 70, 67 Sixers or the 7172 Lakers? I didn't see the 66 7. You did. I didn't. The 66, 67 Sixers, but I did see the 7172 Lakers that were great. 68 and 13. I'm not seeing that kind of team right now so far in the NBA playoffs myself.
Dan Patrick
If you're NBC, how do you use Michael Jordan on your NBA package?
Ryan Seacrest
Well, you know, I don't think Michael is going to be there every Saturday or Sunday afternoon breaking down, you know, a regular season game up against football. So I don't think he's going to be there in that situation. To me, you know, I think it's a little PR oriented because I got to see how much Jordan's going to work. You know, Jordan's going to give up some of those golf things in NBA playoffs. You know, somebody says, you know, Michael, let's go play in Dubai. He just says, no, I can't. I got Sacramento and Dallas in a playing game. He's not going to do that. So I got to see it to believe it. But, you know, it's a good PR move for NBC. I mean, he won all those championships for the network who's not going to want to hear what Jordan has to say. But I believe those appearances will be short in stature and brief. I think it's more. Until it's proven otherwise, I think it's more PR than anything else. I got to see him. Really want to do this.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. I'm wondering, and we joked about this, that is it going to be Michael Jordan goes and lets some of these players interview him. That, you know, coming up at halftime, Cooper flag interviews Michael Jordan. You know, an audience with Michael Jordan where these players get to ask him questions. But. But I. Other than that, unless they do what Kobe did with his details, when, when he would break down, truly break down a game or a player, I could see that maybe with Mike doing something like that, but I thought Kobe was wonderful as an analyst, you know, with his own series there.
Ryan Seacrest
Maybe they see that. I mean, I don't see Jordan breaking down an individual game and getting on a player for making a mistake. I don't see Jordan wanting to get into the weeds of why so and so made an error. You know, why Harden stinks in big games. You know what she does? I don't know if. I don't know if Jordan's going to want to do that. To me, that's just NBC trying to get a little juice with their. With their NBA deal. Let's announce that we've hired Jordan for, quote, unquote, a special correspondent. They probably haven't even detailed what that might entail because they, you know, they just said, jordan, why don't you sign up and we'll figure it out later on, you know, that kind of thing. But I think people will pay attention to it. It's, you know, Jordan doesn't talk much. You very rarely see him after that 8. You know, that great documentary. So from that standpoint, we hear from him and we'll go from there. Listen, we're gonna have a little drama here, a little drama with Denver, Oklahoma City. Let's see how Cleveland responds. Celtics without Tatum. Do they throw in the cash? Near chips. They go play with a lot of verve in game 5. Down three 1. When it appears they can't win that series. So I, I think you're going to have a little drama here. Can Mick, Can Golden State win a game to get Curry active for game six? I think you're going to have a little drama here in the next four or five days in the NBA. And going back to the original thought, something's wrong with the idea that the Dallas Mavericks freaking win the lottery after Atlanta won. So yeah, I'm with you 100% on it.
Dan Patrick
Good. Good to talk to you, Chris.
Ryan Seacrest
I love you, Danny. You keep up the good work.

Okay, then you have Dublin. It's the Steelers against the Vikings. I like that a lot. London will have the Browns and the Vikings. London will have the jets and the Broncos. London will have the Jags and the Rams, I believe Berlin will have the Colts and the Falcons and Madrid will have the Dolphins and the Commanders, the international package. But supposed to be the big reveal party coming up tomorrow night. All right, time to play. Fill in the blank. I'll say something, I'll read something, and then you fill in the blank. Todd. Okay, all right, all right. Seaton. Forgettable. Do you mean that? Marvin an attraction. Paul A slow burn. Conspiracy. Conspiracy theorist about the NBA. Are blank.com warranted?

Dan Patrick
Seaton annoying. Marvin overpowering. Paul peaking. So you think they're. They're just taking over every. They're taking over the world now. You know they're dominating the NBA. Christmas day, all that. The college football playoffs, they're going to dominate that as well. They're kicking everybody to the curb. Baseball, playoffs, doesn't matter. Anything that's in their way, they're just going to steamroll. Bulldoze there. Yeah. Seaton.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Just like I know I'm alone in this, but I Just find this like, smothering nature of the NFL to be exhausting. Sometimes I think we're gonna find out how much is too much. Mark Cuban once said that hogs get slaughtered. These hogs are eating everything in its way, in their way. Tom Cruise is a blank actor. Todd. I went with charismatic Seaton. Yeah. Fine, fine actor. Marvin. Big time. Paul. Intelligent, I'm gonna say a box office actor. His results are at the box office, not during award shows. Yes.
Ryan Seacrest
Paul, does Tom Cruise have the most star power and acting skills combo? Almost like Travis Hunter, you know, rarely does someone have both.
Dan Patrick
Yes. Are we overrating his acting ability? I don't think he's a great actor. Right. But I think he's a great entertainer. He's a star. This is to your point. He's a star, but I don't know that he's a great actor. Like the movies he's in. You know, Mission Impossible, although the new one didn't get good reviews. But he knows what he's doing. He knows what his wheelhouse is. Yeah. Those are good movies. Yeah. They're a lot of fun. I. I really like them. Yeah. I don't go to see Tom act. I go to see him perform. And of course he runs. In every movie that he's in. There's always going to be Tom running. Yes, Paul. But he's got a lot of award.

Dan Patrick
Ohtani's a better actor. Hot take.
Ryan Seacrest
Wow.
Dan Patrick
But Tom makes smart decisions. Yes. Yeah. Great business man.
Ryan Seacrest
And he takes risks physically.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Yeah. Which are all covers for not being able to act. I'm gonna throw myself off this cliff so I don't have to act like I'm throwing myself off this cliff. That's why I think, I think he is like sort of widely considered to be a good actor. But yeah, this is fun. Yeah. I mean, Harrison Ford. I didn't tune in to listen, watch him act. I tuned in to watch him perform. Watch him walk around looking confused on camera. That's what his acting ability is. Marvin, currently is Timothee Chalamet, your great actor and box office star all packaged together. I don't know if he's a box office star. I don't know what the Dylan movie made. Dune, you know, that's a big box office movie. But I do, I think he's a very good actor. Very good actor and wants to be a great actor. He didn't say, I want to be a box office star. He wants to be a great actor. And you see some of these actors that they take these roles that are more challenging for them. It's not, hey, this is easy money that you want to be known as a great actor. He might be too good looking to be known as a great actor. You know, they might hold that against him. It's like a comedian who's good looking. They're not quite as funny as the guy who's not. And that's why. And you would think Todd would be really, really funny.
Ryan Seacrest
Waiting for that.

Podcast Summary: The Dan Patrick Show – Hour 2: Michael Jordan Joins NBC’s NBA Coverage, Chris “Mad Dog” Russo
Release Date: May 13, 2025
Host: Dan Patrick
Guest: Ryan Seacrest, Christopher “Mad Dog” Russo
In this episode of The Dan Patrick Show, Dan Patrick delves into the recent announcement that basketball legend Michael Jordan has been hired by NBC as a special contributor to their NBA coverage. The news has stirred considerable interest and speculation within the sports community, prompting Dan and his co-host Ryan Seacrest to explore the potential implications of Jordan’s new role.
Dan Patrick [02:31]:
"Yesterday we saw a report that NBC has hired Michael Jordan as a special contributor to their NBA package. No details."
Dan shares his frustration with NBC's lack of transparency regarding Jordan’s specific responsibilities. Despite his efforts to gather information, he reveals that NBC has been tight-lipped, leaving many questions unanswered about the extent of Jordan’s involvement.
Dan Patrick [04:15]:
"I went up the flagpole and I'm like, can somebody help me understand what's going on with Michael Jordan? What's his role? What does that mean? Crickets?"
The conversation shifts to speculating how Michael Jordan might fit into NBC’s NBA coverage. Dan compares potential roles to those filled by other former players like Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal, who have taken on analyst positions. However, he expresses skepticism about whether Jordan will take on a similar role or something more unique.
Ryan Seacrest [06:16]:
"Michael Jordan made an estimated $300 million in 2024 just in earnings from Nike and other entities."
Dan Patrick [06:18]:
"Mike is worth $2 billion. He loves to play golf. I'm just surprised that unless there's a bigger picture here, which there has to be, but no details here."
Dan reflects on Jordan’s strategic release of The Last Dance documentary, suggesting it was a calculated move to reinforce his legacy amidst rising stars like LeBron James. He posits that Jordan’s appearances are designed to maintain his status rather than contribute substantially to current NBA analysis.
Dan Patrick [05:03]:
"When Mike put out the Last Dance documentary, that was strategic to remind a whole different generation of how great Michael Jordan was."
A significant portion of the discussion centers around the distinction between star power and genuine basketball prowess. Dan argues that players like Jason Tatum are exceptional on the court but may lack the broader appeal that attracts casual fans.
Dan Patrick [33:31]:
"Jason Tatum is a great basketball player, but not a star. There's only a couple players that you go, I'm coming out to see you."
Ryan Seacrest [35:42]:
"I think there's something where with Tatum, you watch the franchise more than you go watch the individual player."
Dan and Ryan delve into the NBA Draft Lottery, questioning the fairness of the system, especially when prominent teams like the Dallas Mavericks secure top picks despite lower odds. They discuss the perceived manipulation of the lottery to favor certain franchises, suggesting it undermines the competitive integrity of the league.
Ryan Seacrest [26:14]:
"Isn't there something wrong when Utah, Washington, and Charlotte can't win the freaking lottery or don't have a chance to get the top three picks?"
Dan Patrick [29:24]:
"The Mavericks getting the number one pick is... [conspiracy-related discussion]."
The show engages with listeners through phone calls and live polls. Topics include preferences between top NBA players and opinions on recent game performances. Dan also introduces contributions from guest Christopher “Mad Dog” Russo, further enriching the discussion with diverse perspectives.
Dan Patrick [14:36]:
"Hunter in West Virginia. Hi, Hunter. Good morning."
Ryan Seacrest [26:14]:
"Is there a way to incentivize teams? Let's say once you get eliminated, the number of wins you have after you get eliminated will create the order, the draft order."
Wrapping up the main discussion, Dan and Ryan speculate on how Michael Jordan’s presence will influence NBC's NBA broadcasts. They consider whether Jordan will take on a role similar to other former players or if NBC has a unique plan in mind. The consensus leans towards Jordan being a high-profile, possibly short-term promotional addition rather than a long-term analytical fixture.
Ryan Seacrest [39:00]:
"I think it's more PR than anything else. I got to see him and we'll go from there."
Dan Patrick [39:56]:
"Unless there's a bigger picture here, which there has to be, but no details here."
The episode concludes with Dan and Ryan acknowledging the uncertainty surrounding Jordan’s role at NBC. They express anticipation for further announcements and developments, indicating that the full impact of Jordan’s involvement remains to be seen.
Dan Patrick [42:05]:
"Christopher Mad Dog Russo, host of Mad Dog Unleashed. And... we'll come back, we'll play Fill in the blank..."
Ryan Seacrest [51:02]:
"So you think they're just taking over every... They're taking over the world now."
Dan Patrick [02:31]:
"Yesterday we saw a report that NBC has hired Michael Jordan as a special contributor to their NBA package. No details."
Dan Patrick [05:03]:
"When Mike put out the Last Dance documentary, that was strategic to remind a whole different generation of how great Michael Jordan was."
