Well, it really depends on who you talk to. There are many versions of what happened in 1969 when a young Ted Kennedy drove a car into a pond and.

Happy Gilmore 2 comes out on Friday and early reviews are It's a lot of fun, different than the original, but then they had to make it more modern day. I don't want to give away too many of the plot lines in here, but Sandman will join us coming up in about 20 minutes from now. Phone calls always welcome operator Tyler sitting by, doing nothing. He'll take your calls. 877-3DP Show Email Address dpdanpatrick.com Twitter Handle PShow Talked a lot about the NFL camps opening and also you have players who are not there. And I know we focused on Trey Hendrickson, we focused on Micah Parsons. I do think the Terry McLaurin situation warrants a lot more attention because this guy's 29 years of age and he's made two Pro Bowls in the last three seasons. He's in the last year of his deal. So if you follow this stuff, if it means anything, it's a $15 million salary. His signing bonus was spread out over three years, so his total pay is just over $25 million, which is a great salary. But he wants to be included with some of the other players. He's not Jamar Chase, he's not Justin Jefferson, but he's certainly better than Brandon Aiuk, who got more money Than that. He had 82 catches, 13 touchdowns for a team that surprised a lot of players, teams people that, you know, they were in the playoffs and they were a dangerous team. And you got Jaden Daniels year two, you'd like to continue that progress. And Terry McLaurin was a big part of that this past year. All right, so the camps are open for business. The contract issues continue with the Bengals and the Cowboys and certainly the commanders. We will come up with a new poll question. Recap the hour one poll question. Then we'll go to our two seat. Yeah, we had up there, if you could sign just one all pro money was the same wide receiver or a defensive end. Right now, defensive end is running away with that one. Why do you think that is? Well, they're listening to me and they understand that I'm very insightful. And I said that I'd rather have the guy who's going to impact the the game every single down that he's in there. Whereas a wide receiver, he might have 10 catches and granted scoring touchdowns, but just feels like those guys are disruptors. Miles Garrett, T.J. watt. Like, you know, I still go back to Aaron Donald, who I, I think was underrated. I thought Aaron Donald was underrated. Is it because. Does it feel easier to take a wide receiver out of the game for some reason than it does a defensive end? Yeah, I can put two guys on Aaron Donald, but that means somebody else is going to have less attention there. It just feels like those guys are always getting two guys on them. Miles Garrett, always getting two guys on them. Justin Jefferson, if I, you know, have two guys on him, I can take away him or at least try to take away him as a threat. Yes, he. And in a much more confined space. Right. Like if you double team a wide receiver, it's over. You know, it could be over a massive area. Just inside this one confined area. The minute you double team somebody else, somebody else is opening right up. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Paulie.
Adam Sandler
It also feels like if you have a good above average or great quarterback, you could patchwork the wide receiver position via the draft, via free agency. Look at what the Chiefs are doing. Every year there's a couple new guys and they figure it out. But if they lost Chris Jones, that's a problem. You know, Aiden Hutchinson being gone for the Lions last year, that was a big problem.
Paul Pabst
Yeah, well, look at what Brady did his entire career in New England, aside from Randy Moss, he made players into good players. All pro players. Football is back. Mike Florio and Chris Simms, pro Football Talk Live. It starts at 7am Eastern on Peacock. Also the Roku channel, Samsung TV and more. Peacock is our streaming partner. Thank you for downloading the app and if you haven't done so, please do. And we say good morning to our radio affiliates around the country. What is the poll question for hour two? SETON Well, I think maybe we throw up there. Players should be paid on potential or performance. Okay, what would you be paying Trey Hendrickson on? Let me make you the owner of the Bengals. You're Mike Brown, Trey Hendrickson, looking at all of these salaries that have jumped and he plays the same position. He's outperformed TJ Watt sack wise the last two years. And I'm going to ask you, Trey Hendrickson is 30 years of age, are you going to pay him on what he did or what he will do? Right. It's right. The potential of what he could continue doing. I'm paying him based on what he already did. He earned that money. Yeah, but he got paid. Yeah. To do that. I gotta, I gotta pay you on what I think you're going to do. But, but that's got, that, that has you up to a certain level. So you've already gotten up to a certain level. Now can you continue to maintain that at age 30? Would I give him a three year deal? Three year deal, let's say for 110, 115 million dollars. Now are they going to guarantee that? Because they want to give him reportedly a one year guaranteed contract. Well, that's, that's a slap in the face. Now. That is. That's insulting. That's insulting. Yes, it is. Yes, it is. If you give me three years guaranteed and he's making over $30 million and that's a jump. I think he's making 18. Does that sound right, that Trey Hendrickson 18 million, Paulie.
Adam Sandler
Yes.
Paul Pabst
Yeah. Okay, let's jump it up to 30. Now you might say, well, wait a minute here, look at my numbers compared to these guys. And he would have a case there. I, I don't know if he would go, yeah, I'll do three years, 110 million guaranteed. And I don't think the Bengals would give him a three year, you know, all guaranteed money. So that's the problem. Like if you're starting at a one year guaranteed contract, I mean, that's not really even a contract. If it's one year. No, it's got a. How about two years? Could make a contract like an agreement more than a contract.
Adam Sandler
Yeah.
Paul Pabst
Okay, we agree that this year we'll do this. Yeah. Yeah. Paulie.
Adam Sandler
I think the biggest factor, or one of the biggest factors for me as an owner would be where our franchise is. And, you know, like you said, the Cowboys are a mediocre team and probably not competing for a Super Bowl. They think they are. They're not. I would be more conservative financially. But if I'm on the Washington team or the Cincinnati team, both of them are contenders. The way Cincinnati played at the end of last year, full, healthy Joe Burrow. Like you said, you need a little bit of defense, and Trey Hendricks provides. Hendrickson provides that for you. But if I were a team that stunk, I would avoid paying everybody if I could.
Paul Pabst
Yeah, but look at what the Browns did with Miles Garrett. They paid him. I mean, I don't know how many people are showing up to watch Miles Garrett. Having Miles Garrett on a good team makes you a great team or potentially, but that's a bad team, and they paid him a whole lot of money instead of, why don't we trade him? Why don't we try to get something for him? The Steelers went all in, and that's why we knew they were going to pay T.J. watt. The question was, when and why is it taking so long? All of these teams that we're talking about, they could have been proactive and paid their players a while ago. And you save money. At least I assume that you're saving money if I get you in for 31 million instead of 38 million, saving money. But these owners, you know, continue to stretch this out. That's why I want to devote some attention, some time to it. But then I know Micah Parsons is going to get signed, and I'm going to assume Trey Hendrickson will get signed. So therefore, anything else that you do on this feels like you're just checking a box or it's filler for a show. And I want to advance this. I. You know, is there anything else attached to this? It's just Jerry keeps doing this. It feels like with these big contracts. He did it with Dak, and he's going to do it with Micah Parsons. I just don't understand. I want to have a partnership with my best players like Patrick Mahomes. It feels like that's a partnership. Brady and the Patriots felt like a partnership, at least for a long time. Peyton Manning with the Colts, you know, you just want to have kind of a good vibe there that your leader is happy and will do what it takes to make sure that this team stays together or you get free agents to come in because you're going to want to play here. They take care of you. Yeah. Marvin, if you're Trey, does the. Does your age keep you from asking for TJ Watt money or just because he's not a bigger name? Well, I think because he's not a bigger name and he plays for the Bengals, but he's the same age as T.J. watt. But T.J. watt got paid. I just. The Bengals aren't going to give Trey Hendricks and TJ Watt money. Let me get a couple of phone calls in here. It's the story that won't go away. It's the controversy. It's threatening to blow up two national radio shows. It's Celebrity Family Feud, and Jake in Utah has some thoughts on that. Hi, Jake. Hey, Dan.
Adam Sandler
It's great to chat with you. I think I have this figured out.
Paul Pabst
I am not a Family Feud rules expert, but I do consider myself a little bit of a connoisseur.
Adam Sandler
Watching all the way back to the Richard Dawson days, and that man kissed.
Paul Pabst
A lot of people. Here's what I think is. Here's what I think is the answer.
Adam Sandler
I.
Paul Pabst
And Chad GPT backs me up on this. If what you're saying is right, that.
Adam Sandler
Fritz, he repeated an answer on the board that's actually totally okay. If he repeated an answer that had.
Paul Pabst
Already previously been striked, then it does count as a second strike.
Adam Sandler
So I actually think you guys are.
Paul Pabst
Okay, and I think that Rich Eisen is the one that's wrong. Okay. Thank you, Jake. A lot of opinions on this. All I know is I'm a champion. I'm a winner. You know, if Rich wants to continue this feud, this is the real Family Feud right here after the Celebrity Family Feud. Tritzy. Did you reach out to Rich Eisen? Does he. Does he want to, like, show his face, actually talk to me about this man to man?
Adam Sandler
I did not. I did reach out to Family Feud to see if Steve Harvey wanted to weigh in on what went on. To set the record straight, a little.
Paul Pabst
Fun with any response from Steve Harvey. Staying away from. Okay, he is staying away from this move. I don't blame him. It's good. Yeah.
Adam Sandler
Rich isn't shy about texting us if he want to. Come on.
Paul Pabst
That's why I didn't initiate him. Yeah, well, why don't you see if Rich wants to join us? Maybe next hour. We'll make some time, Scarecrow. Maybe we can settle this like men, you know, want to play with fire, Scarecrow, that's what happens. You get burned. Oh, I need Dan. I'd leave Rich. Go ahead, Fritzy. I need Dan. I need Rich. Let's play the Feud. All right. Thank you. Robert in Indiana. Hi, Robert. What's on your mind today? Good morning, dan the Champ, 64299, third time caller.
Adam Sandler
Today's my birthday. I was. Get a shout out, please. And I have so a question.
Paul Pabst
I won lottery tickets to the Masters for the practice round on a Tuesday. Any pointers, anything, any advice you can give me, It'd be great. Thanks. It's. I tell people the practice rounds are better than the actual rounds because the players are looser. They'll be a little more engaging. They're having fun out there. Now, I know it doesn't mean anything with a practice round, but if you're looking for accessibility, you'll get that for a practice round at Augusta. I would say be ready, get really comfortable walking shoes because it is a very hilly course. May not look like that on tv, but it is. And if you want to position yourself at one hole, that's what I do. When I've gone there, I have a friend who sets up two chairs, lawn chairs or small chairs on the 16th green. And we just sat there. Everybody's coming through eventually, and therefore you can watch the tournament instead of. If you're. I, I'm. I'm invited to the Ryder Cup. And I said, no, I'd rather watch it on tv. I said, the worst place to watch a golf tournament is at a golf tournament because you're trying to navigate crowds. If you're following somebody, if you're just staying in one area, that's really good. But I would say for the most part, you know, you're, you know, just either walk around with them or just get planted on one seat and stay there. Let me see. Should we take a break now, Paulie?
Adam Sandler
Yeah. The Sandman.
Paul Pabst
Okay. All right, we'll take a break. More phone calls coming up. 877-3-DP show and Adam Sandler said to join us next year. Dan Patrick show. Thanks for listening to the Dan Patrick show podcast. For my heart podcasts and Rococo Punch, this is the turning river road. I knew I wanted to obey and submit, but I didn't fully grasp for the rest of my life what that meant. In the woods of Minnesota, a cult leader married himself to 10 girls and forced them into a secret life of abuse. Why did I think that way? Why did I allow myself to get so sucked in by this man and thinking to the point that if I died for him, that would be the greatest honor? But in 2014, the youngest of the girls escaped and sparked an international manhunt. For all those years, you know, he was the predator and I was the prey. And then he became the prey. A couple of minutes before we speak with Adam Sandler. The movie comes out on Friday. They had a big premiere Monday night in New York City. Scotty Scheffler brought the Claret jug to the premiere. Derrick Henry, our buddy with the Ravens, he was there as well. I saw him and Sandler on the red carpet talking, maybe talking about that next movie that he was going to put Derek Henry in if he rushed for 2,000 yards. Yes, Paul.
Adam Sandler
To recap that, when on our show Derek Henry said how much he liked Adam Sandler and you said, you get 2000, I'm getting you in a movie. And Sandler responded, it's affecting people's fantasy football drafts. The drafts haven't really started yet, but a lot of people on social media, I don't know if they're being facetious, said Derrick Henry has some bonus motivation this year. We should take a lot of credit if Derrick Henry runs for 2,000 yards. A lot.
Paul Pabst
Okay. A ton, as a matter of fact.
Adam Sandler
Mostly us.
Paul Pabst
Yes.
Adam Sandler
A little bit.
Paul Pabst
Him. He's the one doing the heavy lifting. Yes.
Adam Sandler
But we motivated him, so Coach Harbaugh should thank us.
Paul Pabst
Fritz, he's a Sandman. There sure is. All right. How you feeling?
Adam Sandler
Talking to me?
Paul Pabst
How you feeling?
Adam Sandler
I'm feeling fantastic. Are we on the air?
Paul Pabst
Yeah, we are. Yes, we are.
Adam Sandler
Danny. I never know with you. I just never know when it's happening. Push and tight today.
Paul Pabst
That's the magic. You know, I want to bring you into a conversation, you know, like we're just chatting. If, you know, I. I was on the phone with you or saw you in person and I just start right in.
Adam Sandler
But you don't ever answer FaceTimes. I notice.
Paul Pabst
No, I don't. I don't. I'm not even FaceTime.
Adam Sandler
I hate that FaceTime, man. Whenever someone FaceTimes me, I'm like, what are we doing right now? It's stupid.
Paul Pabst
Do famous people facetime you?
Adam Sandler
Yeah. Yes. I get famous face times and they all look very good on it. But the reason I. Okay, here's what I don't like about FaceTime. You're on it. It's blasting out whatever you're saying. You hear what they're saying, and then you got to say it loud. No blah, blah, blah. And then you're walking down the street, everyone's hearing everybody think you're saying and every. Everything together. It never works out. I like a quiet.
Paul Pabst
What's up, guys? Shouldn't FaceTime guys.
Adam Sandler
That's true.
Paul Pabst
Exactly.
Adam Sandler
Who needs to see it? You think I need to see my.
Paul Pabst
Friends.
Adam Sandler
And man, do I look horrendous. By the way, my mother on a FaceTime horrific close face.
Paul Pabst
Right?
Adam Sandler
It doesn't matter. I don't know why you FaceTime me, Mom.
Paul Pabst
I FaceTime somebody and they're not used to doing it and they put it up to their ear. So I'm looking in their ear for the FaceTime.
Adam Sandler
Yeah.
Paul Pabst
How would you describe the premiere on Monday night?
Adam Sandler
Oh, my goodness. Man, it was exciting. It was. I did a bunch of talk shows that day. And then I. I kind of just got to where the. The thing was around 6:30. Everybody was kind of going in. I went in with my family, saw like little. Literally like 100 superstars were running around the place. It was so much fun. And they were all in the. Most of them were in the movie. And I don't know. It was a good night. The movie played great. You killed. Swear to God, you. You're the last thing in the whole movie. In the whole movie. You with Scotty Shaffler.
Paul Pabst
Really?
Adam Sandler
Yeah. You. You. You riffed some stuff. We wrote down something. You made it more Dan. Patricky. What's your character's name in the movie? Not Dan. Patrick. It's Patrick. Pat. Pat Daniels.
Paul Pabst
Pat. Pat Daniels. Yes.
Adam Sandler
Pat Daniels. Rifted hard, man. We got some great. And then. And then the chef brings it down at the end.
Paul Pabst
That's great. Who surprised you at the premiere?
Adam Sandler
You mean like, I didn't know it was coming. I didn't know Margaret Qualley was there until Jackie said to me last night, oh, look. And showed me a picture who was there. I said, Margaret quality came out and see her. And so then me and Jackie called Margaret and her husband Jack last night and we were like, you guys came? What do you mean? Did we come? We were there. We had a great time. I said I didn't see. I'm sorry. Oh, yeah, no, we didn't want to bug you. That Kind of thing. It was. It was. It was packed with nice people.
Paul Pabst
Bad Bunny was there.
Adam Sandler
Bad Bunny. What a stud. You didn't realize that. That the whole world loved Bad Bunny, did you? You. Did you meet the Bunny when we were shooting?
Paul Pabst
No, I didn't meet anybody.
Adam Sandler
Oh, yeah, we stuck you in a studio, remember? You tried to meet people and I said, stay here. No.
Paul Pabst
I don't know why you. Why do you do that?
Adam Sandler
Well, Danny, you gotta admit, you were nine date with Guzzling Away. You're like, I want to talk to you, buddy. I said, you can't do that right now. I'm the danger out here.
Paul Pabst
I did that with Aniston in Hawaii. And. And you. You were correct in saying. Because remember, they were going to go and do Pilates or hot yoga. Hot yoga. I had a chance to go with Aniston and you would. You did not allow me to go do hot yoga with Jeff Aniston.
Adam Sandler
You're the whole reason Aniston got a security team.
Paul Pabst
Okay, so do you have to watch the original Happy Gilmore to understand the sequel?
Adam Sandler
No, but it is fun to do it. Actually, when we were writing it, we were writing and writing, and then I said to her, lahey, we kept saying, well, in the first one, didn't this happen? And then one night, literally like a month into writing, I said, dude, I think we should watch the first one. He goes, oh, right. So we watched it. We're like, oh, yeah, that's right. That happened. Like there was a bunch of. Bunch of things we forgot about.
Paul Pabst
Okay, set the record straight again. I think you told me this, and I've been telling this story, and I think that maybe it's not accurate that Bob Barker said he would be in the fight scene with you in the original, but that he had to win the fight. Is that correct?
Adam Sandler
Yes. If I remember correctly, that's what was told to me by, you know, like, agents and stuff when they were doing the deal. They said, because we. We wrote it honestly, it was written for Ed McMahon, and Ed McMahon passed. And then we were like, I mean, when Happy Gilmore happened, nobody was that excited to be a part of it 30 years ago. So Ed McMahon was like, why would I do that? And he moved on. And then we were like, you know, it would be incredible. Bob Barkford, but there's no way, because once Ed McMahon said no, we were like, yeah, nobody's going to want to do this. I think I did beat up. Beat up Ed McMahon in the first draft. I don't think he won. And then we were like, no one's going to do this, man. But, man, imagine if Bob Barger did it. And then we sent it to Bob, and then he said, yeah, yeah, I'll do it. It's funny, but I got to win the fight. And we were like, yeah, baby, as long as you do it, we'll do anything.
Paul Pabst
You, Bob, how often do you call people to nudge them to be in the movie?
Adam Sandler
It's always. Always. You feel like a jerk because, you know, because I get those calls. And you go, what happened? I was going to have a normal Saturday, and now I got to go do this because my. I picked up the phone. That. That. So I don't love doing it. But if we write something funny, you know, like Eminem's in this one. I love Eminem. I'm friends with Eminem, but I don't want to bother the. And everybody kept saying, man, Eminem would be so funny in this part. And I was like, I don't want to ruin this guy's time. He's hanging out. He's in Detroit. He's doing his life, making records. And then I started going, but it certainly would be funny if he did it. So then, all right, let me bug Marshall. And, yeah, give him a call and say, dude, I know it's a pain in the ass, but it's pretty funny. You mind shooting out to us for a day? And then he's like, yeah, yeah, send me the stuff. And then it goes like that. That's how it goes down.
Paul Pabst
He was in Funny People, wasn't he?
Adam Sandler
Yes, yes, yes. You know, I met. I met him. I remember the first time I met him, I was at Saturday Night Live. I was. I wasn't on the show anymore, and I was sitting at an after party. I went by SNL just. Just to hang out, I think, or maybe had a little bit or some. Something. And I was at the table with all my guys, and he was the musical guest with Drake. And we were at the after party, and then Marshall walked by our table, and he. He looked at me, and I looked at him like, oh, yeah, that kid's. That kid's pretty damn cool. And then he goes, Bobby Boucher. Something like that. Oh, yes, that's what's up, Marshall. And then we became friendly after that. And then. Then, of course, yeah, he was in Funny People, and we hung out.
Paul Pabst
He's Adam sandler, Happy Gilmore 2. It'll be this Friday on Netflix. Yes, but how different is this that it goes right to a streaming platform as opposed to being in the movie theaters.
Dan Patrick
How.
Paul Pabst
How long did it take you to get adjusted to that?
Adam Sandler
I'm adjusted to that, but I like the. At the premiere the other night, it was a thousand seater, so it was pretty packed. And it was fun hearing the. The laughs out loud and cheers and it was really cool. Every time in the beginning, like the first 30, every time happy picked up a club, the. The crowd started go whooping and like, here we go, baby. You know, like there was some sort of excitement about Happy smashing it big. And so that was nice to be around people, but. But I get it now and. And Netflix is. Is so worldwide. But I'm not kidding you, Danny. When we do these movies now and wherever the hell you are in the world, people. People talk to you about the movie now. It's just. It's just the weirdest thing. There's no. No place to hide anymore when you're trying.
Paul Pabst
You know, in the original with the. The hockey slap shot, playing golf, like, how challenging is that? I don't know if you're a hockey player, but you're from New Hampshire, so maybe on you, you played a little bit.
Adam Sandler
Little. Just played the frozen driveway hockey as a kid. And I think I skated with my buddies growing up, but all my buddies were awesome hockey players. My one pal in particular, Kyle McDonough, who, who went on to play pro hockey, and his brother Hubie played pro hockey, though. They were like the superstars in my town. And I was best friends with Kyle and he. He went golfing with me and my dad and used to smash the ball. So that's. That's kind of how the whole idea of the movie came. And yeah, I didn't play play hockey, but I did know that it would be cool to make it a slap shot kind of thing. Run up and bang the ball.
Paul Pabst
Let's update the Derrick Henry situation. I saw where he was at the premiere. You were having a conversation with him. Can you add anything?
Adam Sandler
First of all, very nice. Loves you. Loves you. I mentioned your name. He just automatically started laughing. Maybe he was laughing at you and what you mean by there was you brought laughter to him. But. But he was very nice and strong man, by the way. I get it now. He can run over people. He. He was nice enough not to run me over. And then I just said, we're doing a movie together, baby. And yeah, you. You set this up that if he gets how many yards? 5,000, 20,000 yards in one game? You made it very difficult. So anyways, we. We. I'm Taking that wager away. He's getting the yards he needs to get. He can get the 2000, but I figured, why not? We'll just. Let's just do it. Let's just do. Let's just have the man be in one of the movies and have fun. Like. Like we all like to do. Have fun.
Paul Pabst
Oh, okay. So Derek Henry is in the next movie.
Adam Sandler
Well, it's gotta be. I already told him he is. So what am I gonna say now?
Paul Pabst
Okay.
Adam Sandler
I said, you know what? I was thinking about it. You're not. Now try to run me over. Imagine that moment.
Paul Pabst
Okay. Do you want to say what the next movie is going to be?
Adam Sandler
I wish I knew right now, pal. I was just with Netflix brass. They were trying to stare me down and intimidate me, and I didn't let it happen. I said, you wait for this. Sandman's gonna tell you what's up soon enough. And who's Sandman? I said, may, come on kettle stiff.
Paul Pabst
But I think you. When we went.
Adam Sandler
You're in it no matter what. Yeah.
Paul Pabst
Thank you. You. When we went to dinner in New York, you did let it slip of what the next movie was going to be.
Adam Sandler
You know, just talk of it. Man, I gotta write these damn things. Danny.
Paul Pabst
Okay. You could be working on this movie.
Adam Sandler
No, Danny, don't. It's Happy Gilmore two time.
Paul Pabst
Okay. All right. I'm just. I'm trying to figure out. I. I have a life and I have a schedule I like. I work every day.
Adam Sandler
You do work hard, Danny. You look great, by the way. Danny, when we went out to dinner, New York City, we're walking down the street. What were you, about a mile away from your hotel? And we walked home. You walk fast, Danny. Danny was walking through New York City blazing short shorts because it's summertime. And he goes, hard, short. Have a little half fun hanging out on Danny. And the crowd's going nuts. Like, look at Danny's.
Paul Pabst
No. No. Yes. We probably ran into 70 people on the street in New York City. You even said, we leave. That we left the restaurant. And you said, you don't want to walk with the Sandman. And I know because I'm gonna guess 68 of the 70 people that stopped us wanted a photo with you.
Adam Sandler
That's true.
Paul Pabst
One guy who stopped us, he wanted me to take the photo of you and him.
Adam Sandler
Yeah.
Paul Pabst
And then there was one guy that said, oh, by the way, oh, can I get a picture with you as well? So that.
Adam Sandler
I told you. Why that night. I told you that Night. Why? People didn't want to stop. They were nervous with it, how short the shorts were. They were like, why is he all oiled up? It didn't make sense. And what was with the referee whistle? They're like, why did you keep the whistle? It didn't make sense, man.
Paul Pabst
I had my shorts on that I wore when I climbed the rope.
Adam Sandler
The Larry Burners, man. Larry Burn. Isn't that cool? How about how good Indiana was this year? That was. That was amazing, huh?
Paul Pabst
What are you talking about?
Adam Sandler
I don't know. I just was happy. I'm always, always happy. Whenever Indiana not, you know, I didn't want to beat the Knicks, of course, but when they won, I was like, well, that made Larry Bird happy. That's a good thing.
Paul Pabst
Do you feel good about your nicks?
Adam Sandler
My nips. My nipples are.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Adam Sandler
The nipples are fine. Nipples are not huge, not small. Whatever. They're mediocre. But the Knicks. The Knicks are fantastic. I saw Jordan Clarkson at a hotel. I was psyched he's on the team. I love him.
Paul Pabst
Wait, you think that's going to be the difference that Jordan.
Adam Sandler
I think it's going to be helpful.
Paul Pabst
Put him over.
Adam Sandler
You love him. You love him. And I do think it's going to be very effective. Don't you dare laugh at my Knicks.
Paul Pabst
So Sandman plays pickup basketball before we go to dinner. Oh, yeah, yeah. So. And. And so it's a nice restaurant, right, that we went to. And Sandman goes, wow, yeah. There's a place of park there. I'm gonna play pickup basketball. So he is sweating. You had your flower Hawaiian shirt on your shorts. And then you. And come walking in. But you said that the guys were kind of picking on you a little bit. One guy.
Adam Sandler
One guy in particular. Yeah, he was fast and he kept calling.
Paul Pabst
Didn't he say something about Kyrie?
Adam Sandler
Well, listen, the kid had great handles. He admired Kyrie. He burned me. I literally had no idea where he was going. I kept looking at my teammates going, why am I covering this guy? Just give me a big dude that I can, you know, foul all the time. This guy, I can't catch at all. And he would burn past me. He didn't put it through my legs or anything. I didn't allow that. But he certainly, after he buzzed by me, would say, give me a little Kyrie reaction. And what can I do, Danny? I'm an older man. Even when I was. Even when I was 19, I wasn't covering this kid. He was just too. He had. He had good handles you know who I love covering, Danny? A 300 pound man who's never played before. That's my kind of dude.
Paul Pabst
Are you better than Timothee Chalamet?
Adam Sandler
Timothy Jimothy's quick. It's quick. I can't say it's a different game. No, I won't say I'm better. If we played one on one it would be exciting. But, but he's, he's fast, got a good shot, he's got good handles and he is quicker than me. You know my biggest problem right now at the 58, Danny, which you're, you said you're what, 80? You're 81, you told me recently. But Danny, covering these dudes, when they come up, when you've got to cover a guy up top, you go to the top of the key. You play in half court, there's too much space for them to burn past you. So I give him three feet, don't allow them. And then they always hit him, hit him. Everyone can shoot deep now and including shallow.
Paul Pabst
Well, I hope the movie is good. Okay? I'm going to trust you that it's good. Okay?
Adam Sandler
I know the parts. You're in a good. That's all that, that's all you think about, Danny.
Paul Pabst
Will there be a happy Gilmore 3?
Adam Sandler
I didn't think of that, Dan. I don't know. I just got to see how this feels. The two took long enough. My wife said to me recently, she thinks I'm gonna live because she's good at predicting the future. I'm Gonna Live to 112. She gave me that. So there is time to do a Happy Gilmore 3. 112 Grown Ups.
Paul Pabst
Grown Ups 3.
Adam Sandler
I gotta do a lot of things, Danny. You know what, you know what else, you know what else I gotta do? Which I, I, I, I'm struggling. I gotta lose at least 40 right now and I'm not doing it. Danny, Danny. Last night at 10 o' clock at night, I was fine. I was in the house with my wife. Kids were talking, not, not really talking to me much. I said to my wife, hey, you want to go to the diner and get some eggs? She goes, why don't you stay here? I go, nah, come on over to the diet. She goes, you're happy here, aren't you? Trying to get me out of this hell I'm creating for myself. I said, well, go get some eggs. He goes, are you obsessed with the eggs? I said, let's get eggs and come back. Went out. She didn't eat. I somehow had A cheeseburger, bowl of soup and a chocolate shake. There were no eggs involved.
Paul Pabst
That's why you got to lose £40, Danny.
Adam Sandler
I'm just adding on to what I got to lose. That's how I feel. A little more just. And then we'll get to the losing.
Paul Pabst
All right, good to talk to you. Congrats on the movie, dude.
Adam Sandler
I'm excited for everyone to see it. Thank you again for being in it. That was so much fun. When we shot together, you were, you were great, Danny. And honestly, you think you're in three or four spots and everybody who was in it, all the athletes, all the sports announcers, all the all just basketball, great, great football. Anybody who was nice enough to drop by, superstar actors, rappers, singers. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Paul Pabst
He's the Sandman. The movie comes out on Friday. Happy Gilmore too. Thank you, Sandman. Talk to you soon.

American history is full of wise people.

But reporting the series took us through the darkest corners of the Internet and to the front lines of a global battle against deepfake pornography. This should be illegal, but what is this? Give me a movie that needs a sequel. Is there one that comes to mind where you go, you know what? Maybe we didn't answer all the questions in the original.
Adam Sandler
Paul, we've talked about this on air and had people on to talk about it. He got Game two. I think people would tune into Denzel Washington still acting. Ray Allen is now could be the father, etc. The script can write itself. I think everybody wants it to happen.
Paul Pabst
I think Ray Allen's birthday is today or yesterday, I think. Did he turn 50? Does that sound about right? It still looks great. We saw him in Tahoe. Any other movie that you think of where you go, I think a sequel would be great. Now. Happy Gilmore, they waited a long time. Top Gun, Maverick waited a long time for that. And it worked out for Top Gun and Maverick. And I'm going to assume it'll work out for Happy Gilmore too. But I don't know if there's any that comes to mind. Todd, you got one that comes to mind that a sequel would be great.
Adam Sandler
This would be a tricky one and I don't want to give anything away. For those that haven't seen it after all these years. The Sixth Sense, too, on what may or may not have happened at the end of what we think happened wasn't actually true. I really like that movie. It was pretty creepy and interesting into the Sixth Sense too.
Paul Pabst
I'd go see the okay. All right.
Adam Sandler
It's an odd choice.
Paul Pabst
Yeah, it is. Bruce wouldn't be able to do it. He would not. Yeah. Haley Joel Osmond's been in the news. Not for good reasons. But, yeah, that's one of those movies where he was brilliant. Haley. Joe Osment deserved the Academy Award. He was incredible. I don't know why the Academy looks at, you know, children or, you know, kids, actors, and they don't give them. And I'm not. I'm not saying special treatment, but, you know, acknowledging them of what they're doing, they. It feels like love to honor somebody who's paid their dues. Tatum o' Neill in Bad News Bears was awesome. Great. She was in Paper Moon with her dad. She was great. I think she. Maybe she was nominated for that, but. Haley Joel Osment, Sixth Sense. That's great acting. Yes. Eaton. I think it'd be cool if they made a sequel to that movie Memento, and it was just them explaining what in the hell the first one was about. I would love that. You're like, I've watched that movie twice. The first time I thought I understood it better than the second time. I was completely lost. The second time through. If they could just make another movie and be like, oh, this is what the first one was, that would be awesome. Yeah. The actor guy, Pierce, he doesn't have short term memory, and he gets tattoos. He writes down things on his body, but he gets tattoos to help him remind himself of certain things. Yes. But the way the movie is done, it's through his current, like, consciousness. So you're sort of constantly resetting the movie, too. And he's trying to figure out what does all these tattoos mean every five minutes, and then it resets, and then it jumps to a different point in his memory and a different point in his memory. And at the end of the movie, you're like, what in the hell just happened? Who was that? What did they do? Who was the bad guy? Who's the good guy? Yes. Paulie.
Adam Sandler
Yeah. That's one of those movies that I don't know if it's a great movie, but it's a great experience. In the theater where you went, you're like, this is something I've never seen before. The movie Get Out. The first time I saw Get Out, I had no idea what was coming. I'd watch no previews. I knew nothing, and I was blindsided. And that was a. It's still a great movie. But that first experience of get out is Blows your hair back.
Paul Pabst

Adam Sandler

Paul Pabst
Thank you, Todd. Larry, Larry in Michigan. Hi, Larry.
Adam Sandler
Hey, Dan, thanks for the call. Yeah, real quick. Sequels for Scump. I'd like to see a sequel. That'd be kind of cool to see what old Force is doing now. But I, my question is, I was wondering what you and the Dan ants thought was would be the best Aussie song for a walk up, for a hitter's walk up song. I mean, personally, I like War Pigs. Nice and menacing and scary a little bit. Just kind of curious what you guys thought.
Paul Pabst
Well, I mean, crazy trainers, the, you know, anthemic. I mean that's, that's the kind of music you love here. Rattling through a stadium there. Two hours in the books, one more to go. Podcast Summary: The Dan Patrick Show – Hour 2: Performance vs Potential with Adam Sandler
Release Date: July 23, 2025
In this engaging episode of The Dan Patrick Show, hosted by Dan Patrick and co-hosted by Paul Pabst, the focus centers on the critical debate of performance versus potential in professional sports, particularly within the NFL. The episode gains additional charisma with a special guest appearance by renowned comedian and actor Adam Sandler, who discusses his upcoming film Happy Gilmore 2 and shares amusing anecdotes from the movie's premiere.
Timestamp [05:00] - [11:09]
Dan Patrick and Paul Pabst delve into the nuances of NFL player contracts, emphasizing the balance between a player’s current performance and their potential future contributions. The conversation highlights Terry McLaurin, a standout wide receiver, whose contract situation serves as a case study.
Paul Pabst states, “Terry McLaurin is a big part of that this past year” ([08:45]).
Dan Patrick raises concerns about McLaurin's contract, noting, “He’s in the last year of his deal. So if you follow this stuff, it means anything, it’s a $15 million salary” ([08:15]).
The hosts compare McLaurin to his peers, debating whether his current performance justifies a higher pay based on potential. They examine his statistics: "He had 82 catches, 13 touchdowns for a team that surprised a lot of players, teams people that, you know, they were in the playoffs and they were a dangerous team" ([09:00]).
Poll Question: Wide Receivers vs Defensive Ends
Timestamp [10:31] - [11:09]
To further the discussion, Dan introduces a poll question: “Players should be paid on potential or performance. What would you be paying Trey Hendrickson on?”
Paul Pabst shares his perspective: “I’d rather have the guy who’s going to impact the game every single down that he’s in there” ([11:00]).
Adam Sandler adds, “It just feels like those guys are disruptors” ([06:20]).
The debate underscores the strategic decisions teams must make when allocating their salary caps, weighing immediate contributions against future potential.
Timestamp [15:10] - [16:00]
The show transitions to listener calls, where fans share their thoughts on the performance versus potential debate. One notable caller, Jake from Utah, engages in a spirited discussion about Family Feud rules, highlighting a playful controversy with Rich Eisen.
Paul Pabst humorously remarks, “It's the real Family Feud right here” ([14:52]).
Adam Sandler chimes in, “Rich isn’t shy about texting us if he wants to” ([14:58]).
This segment adds a lighthearted flavor to the episode, showcasing the hosts' rapport with their audience.

Movie Sequel Discussions:
The hosts and Sandler speculate on potential sequels for iconic films. Sandler expresses interest in revisiting classics like The Sixth Sense and Memento, pondering their plausibility: “It’s a great experience in the theater where you went, you’re like, this is something I’ve never seen before” ([35:53]).
Paul Pabst inquires about the likelihood of a Happy Gilmore 3, to which Sandler responds optimistically, “There is time to do a Happy Gilmore 3” ([43:11]).
Personal Anecdotes and Humor:
Sandler humorously discusses his challenges with maintaining a healthy lifestyle amidst his hectic schedule: “I have to lose at least 40 right now and I’m not doing it” ([43:36]).
