You are listening to the Dan Patrick show on FOX Sports Radio, Hour two on this Thursday. Lewis Riddick from the mothership will join us. Get his thoughts on the Giants closing in on John Harbaugh. Not official yet. And then we'll start to look at some of these other coaching vacancies. 8773 DP Show Email address DP danpatrick.com Twitter handle the DP Show Just got this from Pat40, great college football writer, college basketball writer. Federal investigators are filing sports bribery and wire fraud charges against 20 people in relation to game fixing, point shaving and performance manipulation in college basketball. And among those, several former players. So keep an eye on this. But Pat40 is reporting it's it. It's not a question of if, but when. Just there's money. And it feels like, as I've said before, nobody's going to be watching this game or this performance. A couple of missed free throws. We don't cover this spread. And Vegas has to monitor this. That's their livelihood. But you know it. The only way this really goes crazy is if you have a marquee player who's involved in something like this or an important game. But most of your important people are already making good money. So you don't want to jeopardize that. It's the person who is not getting big nil money or playing for a school that nobody would ever think that this could happen, that we would be doing this. But Vegas is keeping an eye on this. But Pat 40 reporting that up to 20 people. Yes, Seaton, I feel like it would.
Seaton
May, maybe I just don't get it. But I feel like if you're a player, I feel like it would be hard to shave points. But maybe, maybe, maybe it's just not.
Dan Patrick
Well, all you have to do is now, thankfully they took away the prop bets from college kids, which I'm like, hello. But all you have to do, you don't have to lose a game. You just have to know that it's Nine points and, and then do something around that to make sure that those who think you're going to cover the nine or you're not going to cover the nine, you make sure you take care of that. And it could be. And in basketball it's five guys. It doesn't take long to be able to manipulate something like that. Yes.
Seaton
Like all of a sudden you're like, dang, dribbled the ball off my foot again.
Dan Patrick
You can miss a shot. You can miss a shot. Nobody would think anything of that. You missed a shot. Happens all the time. Missed a free throw. It happens all the time. You know the, the obvious turnover where you throw it out of bounds or dribble it off your foot or whatever, then that can be suspicious. But if you miss a shot, you miss a shot or two or three. Yeah.
Paulie
Paulie, in the book and the documentary about BC basketball in the late 70s and the point shaving the first few games, they said you could still win the game again, win by 10 instead of whatever. And they had to have the point guard involved. They said they couldn't do it without the point guard. And they just made a couple misses, a couple passes, went out of bounds and then they asked him to actually lose a game. And that's where the players were like, no, we're going to stop. And who are you going to call? You can't call the cops. You can't call the ncaa.
Dan Patrick
Speaking of college, Cam Newton snubbed by the College Football hall of Fame. So the doors to the College Football hall of Fame opened on Wednesday to welcome in 22 new members. So this is an article that, that is from Auburn Football that Cam was snubbed by the College Football hall of Fame. Mark Ingram, first Alabama player elected from the Nick Saban era. Let's see. And then they say, well, where's Cam Newton? He won the Heisman carrying his team to a national title. Says he fell short of the required threshold for induction. I don't know what the threshold is. Wisconsin running back Marty Ball got in on his first try. He was a big deal there for a couple years at Wisconsin. Let me see any other. Oh, Jordan lynch got in. Jordan lynch, former Northern Illinois quarterback. Did he get in?
Paulie
Yes, he had a monstrous career.
Dan Patrick
He didn't have a Cam Newton career.
Paulie
He had a longer career than, more than the one year career.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, Cam Newton had an incredible impactful and might have been the best quarterback that we've ever seen in college football.
Paulie
It'd be fair to say Cam Newton season is at worst the Top three single seasons in college football quarterbacking history. Here's the. I've looked back at this a lot. I follow the College Football hall of Fame. They don't have a normal, like, five years. Now you're on the ballot and you go put this way. And Domicon sue just got in one of the great defensive tackles in college football history. He graduated in 2009, so he had to wait 15 years.
Dan Patrick
Well, eligibility begins 10 seasons after your college career is over, so you got to wait 10 years before you're inducted. All right, so 22 players got in and Cam Newton didn't. He'll get in. But you know what? It gives him a topic on his podcast. Did. Wasn't he upset that the Colts didn't reach out to him when they brought in Philip Rivers? Like, how dare you not reach out to me? But he insisted on wearing that cowboy hat when he was on the field, and they couldn't find a helmet that would fit over that. Yes, Marvin, Just because of who was.
Marvin
On that Auburn team. He dragged the Auburn team to the national championship. That had Nick Fairly and who else? Yeah, I don't remember either. Like Joe Burrow. He was throwing the two all pro NFL wide receivers in college. Johnny Manziel. Mike Evans deserves, like, an arm or a leg on that Heisman.
Dan Patrick
Yes.
Marvin
Because.
Dan Patrick
Or at least the hands.
Marvin
At least whenever he was in trouble. Let me just throw it up in the air. Mike Evans will go get it. Who was on that team?
Dan Patrick
Yeah, who was it?
Paulie
The running back was Michael Dyer. Really nice running back.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. But we had Gary Danielson on, longtime CBS analyst. And I said, who's the best player you ever saw? And he said, cam Newton. Because of what Cam did at Auburn. With what he had at Auburn, certainly offensively. H. You know, it's. I would love to vote on these committees, but it is a thankless job because, hey, I just changed the lives of 22 people. And then there's going to be the next 20 people that you didn't change their lives or you gave them disappointment. Same thing with the hall of Fame. I've never voted on those. I've only voted for, like, regular season awards with the NBA. And I vote for the Heisman. But Cam Newton not in. I'm surprised. But he. He will get in. I go back to Christian Laitner. I've been banging the drum for Christian Laitner being in the Basketball hall of Fame, given what he did in college. Coaches get in for what they did in college. Christian Laettner should be in the basketball hall of Fame. It's not the NBA. It is the Basketball hall of Fame. Naismith.
Marvin
Yes, Marvin, and I am with you only because of who's gotten in. Guys like Dino Raja and Tony Ku Coach and Vladi Divak are in the Basketball hall of Fame. So I am with you completely on that aspect.
Dan Patrick
Bloody debug. All right, some phone calls coming up. By the way, good morning. If you're watching on Peacock, that's our streaming partner, RG3. RG3 didn't get into the hall of Fame this time around. We'll talk to him coming up final hour. And we'll also talk to Lewis Riddick of the Mothership coming up. But the reports are that John Harbaugh and the Giants are close to solidifying a contract that'll pay him probably $20 million over the next five years. Now we have eight coaching vacancies. We'll talk about that coming up. Seaton poll question today. 877-3DP. Show operator Tyler sitting by. He'll take your calls. What are we going to go with in hour two?
Seaton
We have right now, we have up there. I'd rather be a starter at Nebraska or a backup at Oregon. 40. Excuse me, 74% of the audience have a starter at Nebras. And is John Harbaugh in better football situation now than he was a month ago? 61% say no.
Dan Patrick
Well, he had a team that was a Super bowl caliber team. I think he needed a fresh start. Yeah.
Seaton
A month ago he was fighting for the playoffs.
Dan Patrick
Yes. Yeah. I think for him personally, you know, this, this allows him to show that he can build a team. He can be the CEO. I don't like he didn't want to leave Baltimore. Tomlin wanted to leave Pittsburgh. John did not want to leave Baltimore. So maybe you look at, at it that way, that he wanted to stay at a place that didn't want him. So how can this be a better place? I think it will turn out to be a better place for him. I think he had gone as far as he could go. And if you can't get that team over the top with that quarterback and that talent and that running back, it is time to move on. Same thing with Tomlin, you know, as great as he is, you know, oh man, he's the CEO and that's the guy you want and players will run through a wall for. But they didn't, they, they didn't accomplish anything in the last 10 years other than, hey, we're better than average and we made it into the Postseason, though, it was time to move on, step down, and you know, he's going to get an opportunity to do tv. And I don't know if he's going to be good in tv. There are guys who have been good in TV or were good in TV that I never thought they would be. And then the other way around, where you go, well, that guy, he's got a lot of personality. If you would have said Sterling Sharp was going to be good in tv, I would have been probably on the other side of that. But then meeting him and understanding his personality and his knowledge of football, I go, no, he'll be successful. But there are certain guys where you go, he's a good analyst for a game and that guy's good for the studio. But I don't know if Mike Tomlin's going to go, hey, I, I can give you 15 seconds on this or in the studio, hey, I've got an answer. I already know what your question is going to be. In the game, you don't know what's going to happen. Therefore, you better be really good on your toes. You better be able to ad lib, break down something. What do you see? Sense of humor, timing, getting along with your partner. There's a lot that goes on. You know, when you, when you have a successful broadcast team, it is more than just the two guys on the air. It's everything that goes along with that. And like Tony Romo and I said this before, Jim Nance is unbelievable, Even better than he's ever been, because he has to be. Because I think Tony puts him in a position where Jim's got to clean up the mess. Tony came out of the gate. I didn't think he would be good in tv. I remember Rich Eisen telling me that he was part of the audition with Tony, said he's going to be great. I go, really? He was refreshing. But this is what I would say to anybody who's doing that job. You know the players now, but when you get to year seven or eight or nine, you have to do even more homework. You can't go a 32 or 45 or 54 when you're out of the game, like Tom Brady. The further he's removed, the more he has to dedicate himself to knowing who these players are. You can't just throw out a number. Now if you were playing, you can say that, hey, 32 or 45 or 54 when you're the analyst can't do that. And Collinsworth had to rededicate himself. Troy Aikman had to rededicate himself. If you want to do this for a long haul, you got to know who these players are. Yes, Todd, I know it's not easy.
Marvin
In the moment to look down, but.
Dan Patrick
They have roster sheets and all the information that's in front of them.
Lewis Riddick
I know that's, you know, in.
Dan Patrick
In that second, you can't necess glance.
Lewis Riddick
And find number 53 or whatever, but they have a lot of that stuff at their fingertips.
Dan Patrick
Well, you got a spotter who's there to help you. Like, they'll point out who that guy is. You just, you know, you got to do your homework. And Tony has been labeled as somebody who's not doing his homework, whether it's true or not. But, you know, you got Jim Nance, who's doing an unbelievable job. There are too many rumors, whispers, articles about Tony that, you know, some of this has to be true. And did they have an intervention with him to say, tony, you got to go back in and you got to study. You, you know, you can't get by going, I don't know, Jim. I don't know if it's going to be a runner pass. We're gonna see. Like, that's not analysis there. And I think Aikman in the last couple of years, I just think he doesn't give a bleep. Like, he gets on there and he's going to tell you what he thinks. And he's done a really good job. Greg Olson has done a really good job. I think J.J. watt is doing a good job, but he's got Iron Eagle with him. That helps so much and having fun doing the game. You know, you go back to Madden and Summer all. Here's what I was told a long, long time time ago. Work really hard to make it seem like you're not working hard. That's it. It's just preparation. Bob Costas would work really hard at making it look easy, and it's not. That's what great ones do. They make it look easy and it's not. We'll take a break. We'll talk some of these coaching vacancies. We'll also talk to Lewis Riddick about did the Giants get the right guy? And we'll go around the rest of these openings. And also, by the way, there's football coming up this weekend. The road team that will win. We'll have that for you. Coming up, be sure to catch the.

LeBron James agent Rich Paul walks back his comments on his podcast talking about what the Lakers should do. They should trade Austin Reeves to Memphis for Jaren Jackson Jr III. I think Austin Reeves agent had something to say to Rich Paul and so did LeBron. We'll have that for you coming up. Lewis Riddick of the Mothership, ESPN NFL College football Analyst. Did the Giants get the right guy? Lewis.
Lewis Riddick
No question. Look, Dan, I've known John for a long time. He was a, he was an assistant. I don't know if he's a grad assistant or just an assistant on our staff at the University of Pittsburgh. When I was there as a freshman and sophomore, I believe he was there with his dad Jack. So I who was a great friend of Mike Godfrey. So I've known John a long, long time. I know what his family values and how they look at the game of football. I've been able, I've been fortunate enough along with our team to call multiple Monday night games and talked in multiple occasions about Team building, player development, roster construction, coaching staff construction, philosophical beliefs, you know, as far as how the game needs to be played. And I'll tell you, to me, he is the true definition of, of a CEO when you're talking about a head coach and what that role really does entail because he started off as a special teams coach, right. And then Andy gave more exposure to defense to kind of round out his resume a little bit more when he was coaching there so he could become a head coach. I think he is someone who, you know, on the way out in Baltimore, like something just doesn't sit well with me with the way that all went down because of the role that I know that player accountability plays in team underperformance.
Dan Patrick
Right.
Lewis Riddick
And obviously we live in a world, in a society where everyone's looking for, I gotta find that guy who I can hang it on, that guy who I can put it around his neck and that guy who I can hold accountable. And there's a lot of people behind the scenes who sit back and just kind of go, who? Will I escape that one? Will I escape that? There's a lot that went into that team's underperformance in my belief. And I think, yeah, spinning it forward. I love what, what Coach Day Ball did as far as really vouching for Jackson Dart and kind of selling him to John and obviously ownership up there is going to give him everything that he needs. And it's a quick trip right up 95 man for him, which is super cool. And I think he's going to do a hell of a job. I think he's going to be recharged and kick it right in the ass like he should.
Dan Patrick
Was this the best opening in your opinion?
Lewis Riddick
I think because of the quarterback situation in the young pieces situation where if you were like to list the top five positions on a football team that you needed to have in place in order to then fill out everything around it. Yeah, I think when you look at the fact that you have Jackson Malik coming back, you have edge pass rushers, you have a guy who can be a workhorse every down back, he's going to still need to fix that offensive line and make it something that becomes more consistent. Yeah, I think there's a lot of things in place right there now obviously player identification, selection development, all that stuff has to still happen. But yeah, a lot of the foundation is right there. It really is. And I think like, you know, the Big Blue fan base is as passionate as there is in football. There's a lot of Alumni who are sitting there going, thank you, thank you. You know, and I think he's going to have a lot of support behind him and a lot of wind pushing him along to where I think this is going to be a spot where now the Giants, Giants are going to be players again. For real.
Dan Patrick
Let's take out the legacy of the Steelers. Let's just look at what that roster is.
Lewis Riddick
Mm.
Dan Patrick
How good a job is this?
Lewis Riddick
Look, I think the number one. Okay, so when you look at how good of a job is it, if we're talking about, excuse me, ownership structure and stability, plus GM quarterback, all that alignment that, that really does factor into how good of a job is. Look, ownership, quarterback or ownership is rock solid. So you know that they're going to. There's someone who's going to really try and identify a person that they think is going to be long term and they're going to give them a lot of leeway in order to kind of learn on the job, just like they did with Mike, just like they did with Coach Howard, just like they did with Chuck Noel. So I think that obviously makes it attractive immediately. Number one, because you know you're going to have time. Number two, you know you're going to have time because they don't have a quarterback. So I think that may knock it down for some and people are going to go, well, what the hell are they going to do there? Well, that's a great question. Well, that's, that's part of the deal. That's why they're kind of in this situation in the first place. It's kind of what more wore Mike out, I believe at the end, along with a bunch of other things. The fact that they just couldn't get that position right. But I think once they figure that out, I think there are some young pieces on the offensive line. I think you have to continue to fill out the wide receiver core around DK Metcalf and make sure that that is a, that is a position of strength. Running backs, a position of strength. Defense is aging in, in probably a little bit too high priced for long term sustainability and needs to be revamped and rebooted. But there's this. So there's so many things though that will make that place attractive to top level coaches for sure. And number one is the fact that they're not just going to turn over coaches at the first sign of there being some kind of adversity like every, like so many other places do. And that's probably the number one thing that prospective Head coaches should be looking for how much time is the coach going to give you? I mean, is the owner going to give you? How much support are they going to give you and then how much support are they going to give you to go out and get the assets that you need? Mr. Rooney will do what he needs to do in order to get them what they need to get to make this team successful. Simple as that. Then it's up to Omar and whoever they pick to get the job done.
Dan Patrick
But you look at certain openings, you got to win now. In Pittsburgh, it's not just get to the playoffs, you got to win now. In Baltimore it's not just get to the playoffs. Whereas Atlanta, Miami, Cleveland, Arizona, Tennessee, even the Giants, you get a grace period, you walk into Baltimore, you better make the playoffs and pitch the same way.
Lewis Riddick
Yeah, you know what's interesting about that? I kind of look at those two teams a little bit different simply because, look, in Pittsburgh, you better win now simply because Mike always kept it above water, right? He was always in the hunt, in the hunt, in the hunt, but just couldn't get over the top for whatever reason. It was whatever you want if you wanted to pin it on his schemes, strategies, tactics, lack of quarterback play, whatever you wanted to pin it on. But the fact is now that one crucial piece that you know will give you a chance to win now is not there. So there's going to be, need to be an adjustment of expectations there, there just is. And I think, And I think Mr. Rooney will figure like he knows that, although he says, hey look, this isn't a retool. I mean this isn't a rebuild. Okay, you mean you can say that now, but the reality is, what's your answer then? What's your answer at quarterback, at Baltimore? I agree with you for sure. You better win now. And I'll tell you what, I'll even take it a step further. The players that are there, they're the ones who better make sure that they win now. Because one of the reasons why, I think one of the primary reasons why John is not there is because the player, well, there's a number of different things. One, we talked about this being maybe one of the best rosters in football, etc, etc all the time this year. Maybe not. Maybe look at their front seven and look at how, how many injuries they suffered on the front that really did limit the things that they could do defensively. But number two, their best players need to practice, need to hold themselves accountable, need to be held accountable, need to know the scheme Inside and out, need to be able to execute at a high level at all times. And those are things that. I'll tell you what, coaches can only do so much. They're going to get a fantastic coach. There's no question about that. But the players have to pull their weight. The players have to own up. Didn't you. We heard this. We just heard Jason Kelsey talking about this the other day with Philadelphia where he was screaming about the fact that, you know, we can sit there and we can pin it on Nick Sirianni and Kevin Patullo and just kick them in the ass all we want about. Well, their scheme sucks. It's vanilla. It's this, it's that. It's just, you know, we get so far away from sometimes about the fact that, you know, I don't know too many. Look, I've been around some bad coaches. Don't get me wrong, I've been around some coaches, didn't teach me anything. But by and large, I'm going to have some, some faith in the fact that, you know what? The NFL is comprised of people who are pretty competent at their job. I was never coached ever to fumble the football, jump off sides, pull someone's face mask, drop the football, take bad angles to the football, not wrap up when you're supposed to tackle. I was never coached to do that kind of stuff. But now, as soon as players don't do that, fire the coach. Get his ass out of there. Get someone else, fire the coach. They're not good. They're not. It's like, hey, if Baltimore has that good of a roster like everyone says they do, then they should be playing a lot better than what they are. And you're right, they better win next year right away. No question about it.
Dan Patrick
Talking to Louis Riddick of the Mothership, their NFL college football analyst, what is Aaron Rodgers football future?
Lewis Riddick
I would never speak for Aaron Rodgers, But I think Mr. Rooney put it bluntly. I think in Pittsburgh, it's probably. It's done. He said he came here to play for Mike. Mike's gone. I think that pretty much closes the. He didn't say it closes the door on that, but I think it closes the door on that. I don't. I don't know. I. I thought that really was an ideal spot for him. I thought that he needed Mike. Mike needed him. Given where they were at, you know, as far as Mike, where he was at in his tenure, he probably knew that that was his last run and Aaron probably needed to just go somewhere where he really respected that guy great. You know, great traditional, like blue blood organization and where he would just play ball and that's what he did to the best of visibility. I don't know what, what. Where else you can go to really top that at this point. Ain't going nowhere as no backup. He's not going. Aaron. Aaron. I think we may have seen the last of them. I don't know, but that would be my guess.
Dan Patrick
Give me the road team that wins this weekend.
Lewis Riddick
Oh, boy. I'm actually trying to think who is on the road.
Dan Patrick
Buffalo's in Denver, Houston's in New England. You got the Niners in Seattle. Rams, I think. I think Rams are favored. Let's. Let's take them out of this.
Lewis Riddick
Yeah. You know what? I think Houston is probably the one that. Because their defense, Dan, is so nasty, physical, opportunistic and can play in any kind of environment. They're so mentally tough that I know that people go, well, there's no way Houston can keep winning like this because CJ can't afford to keep playing like that. Yeah. You know what? You're right. And he won't keep playing like that. I don't believe he'll keep playing like that. Now, I love Mike Rabel. I love how he has that team playing. You talk about connecting with a roster. Holy mo. I mean, the people in Tennessee, I don't know what happened down there, but I don't know how you didn't see the unique qualities and skills that this man has as a head coach unless he developed something in that year where he was just like, you know what? I need to tweak this about how I connect with players. I need to tweak that now. This is going to make me so much. He's pushing all the right buttons, man. All of them. Every single one. But d' Ameco, Ryan's is a special, special cap and he's got a special defense that is among the best that I've ever seen. And I'm. And I played on a pretty good one too hard 94 team in Cleveland that was one of the best in scoring defense in history. They have got some dudes. And that at this time of year, is a lot of what you need.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. When you have a team, you have a front that you don't have to blitz.
Lewis Riddick
Makes it.
Dan Patrick
Makes it a whole lot easier for the secondary. Give me the question. Give me the game. That could be a blowout. Oh.
Lewis Riddick
You know what? I really don't. I don't think any of them will be. I Think there's a reason why this is considered the best. The best weekend in NFL. In the NFL. Because I think at this point, look, there's. There's a lot of things that go into it, right? I think nerves start to play a factor. I think people get a little bit more tense. I don't know if one. And I. And I think that works in. In both ways. And I don't think where it's going to be like one team really just craps the bed and just. And just gets blown out and then. And then another. Another team just plays above and beyond what they played all season long. I. I don't. I really don't see it that way. I don't. I am interested to see just how Buffalo is able to overcome the injuries that they have had on the offensive side of the ball, in particular wide receiver, especially against the defense like Denver's that is just so. So aggressive. And the team that's. I would think Sean has them, like, tuned up to play at the very highest level and really ready to rock and roll. Buffalo doesn't traditionally get blown up, but that. That's a football team that I think. I think they're going to play their very best at this time of year. I really do. I think Denver is going to hit their stride and we're going to see the very best of what they have to offer, because I really do think that Sean Payton is one of the very best to ever do it. That's another guy who knows how to push the right buttons and get his teams to really juiced up and ready to go. And I'm a big, big fan of Bo Nicks, man.
Dan Patrick
Who was the quarterback that you got into the postseason and you realized you were not going to rattle, that you were like, damn.
Lewis Riddick
But you weren't going to rattle. Well, there's just so many. There's so many different guys. I mean, there's young guys and there's. There's old, grizzled vets who kind of been down this lane, down this road before. I think Matthew Stafford, because of how his season started and because of all the.
Dan Patrick
No. That. That you faced when you.
Lewis Riddick
Oh, oh, oh, oh. That I faced.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Like, where you were. Like, this guy is. He's better in the postseason. We're not going to rattle him. Who was there? One guy?
Lewis Riddick
No, there. There wasn't one. And really, when we got into postseason, I mean, the guys who, you know, we faced at that time where, I mean, Bledsoe was a rookie, Neil o' Donnell was Kind of like an old grizzled vet in Pittsburgh. I mean, that. You know what I would probably say that. I would say Neil o' Donnell simply because of the fact that at that time, that's who our nemesis was. It was the Steelers. And you couldn't rattle that football team, period. I mean, that team was just like. Like Tomlin likes to say now, nameless gray faces. That's what they were. They were just machines. And hell, I mean, if you had Greg Lloyd, Kevin Green, Chad Brown, Vaughn Kirkwood and Carnell Lake, Rod Woodson, you wouldn't. You wouldn't get rattled either. You know, you wouldn't be worrying about too much stuff either.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but Neil o' Donnell's not the quarterback that I thought you were gonna go.
Lewis Riddick
You're right. He's not. He's not. But I. I think of the team, the guys that we faced back then. Look, I think obviously, you know, when I was in Oakland, you knew that you weren't going to rattle Elway. I mean, he was just. And he was. He was just rock solid, you know. Another guy who kind of like, for me, who was probably the guy who. Who I really thought, when we played against him, I thought, damn, this guy is really good. He just doesn't get enough credit, was Mark Brunel. Mark, at his height in Jacksonville early, In his early days, was a problem. He was the reincarnation, the literal reincarnation of Steve Young. That's what he was. And there's nobody who I respect more than the great Steve Young.
Dan Patrick
Was it Keenan McCardell?
Lewis Riddick
Yeah. And Jimmy Smith.
Dan Patrick
Jimmy Smith. Those were good receivers.
Lewis Riddick
Hey, and Kyle Brady, right? I think he was there.
Dan Patrick
Tight end. Yeah.
Paulie
Yeah.
Lewis Riddick
And then I think Fred was there.
Dan Patrick
Fred Taylor. Yeah.
Lewis Riddick
Tony was there.
Dan Patrick
He was underrated. Fred Taylor, underrated.
Lewis Riddick
Think about those names right there, right? Those are some guys right there. Some legit guys. I think it was Tony Bracken still. Tony Bracken was there on defense. Donovan Darius was one of the safeties. They had some guys, man. Tom Coughlin put together a hell of a team down there. Hell of a team.
Dan Patrick
Great to talk to you. Have fun this weekend, as always. Thanks for joining us.
Lewis Riddick
You bet, man. Thanks a lot.
Dan Patrick

He also is, is he married to Adele? Are they just still dating or are they engaged?
Marvin
I. They're involved.
Dan Patrick
I know they're involved. Yes, Paul, I have.
Paulie
Dating since 2021 and engaged since August 2024.
Lewis Riddick
Back to you.
Dan Patrick
All right. I love Adele.
Paulie
Hello. She's something.
Seaton
She's kind of awesome.
Marvin
She's.
Dan Patrick
She's great.
Seaton
Yeah, she is great.
Dan Patrick
Beautiful, great voice and got a great sense humor. Now back to her boyfriend, her fiance, Rich Paul on his podcast with Max Kellerman. And Rich Paul was talking about what he thinks the Lakers should do and he said, hey, you know what? They should go get Jaren Jackson Jr. The defensive player of the year with the Memphis Grizzlies. And maybe you could give them some picks or you could give them, you know, some players. Or how about Austin Reeves? Well, the kind of follow up TO that is LeBron finds out about it and I think says something to Rich Paul about what are you doing? He's my teammate. And then Austin Reeves's agent, I think had something to say to Rich Paul as well. So Rich Paul then followed up on the podcast and had this to say about the situation. First of all, if you watch the.
Lewis Riddick
Show, this was a hypothetical conversation we were having. If I was running a team, not, this is what's going to happen, etc. Secondly, I believe it's very complimentary to AR because he's on a team with two future hall of Famers, and he happens to be the asset. This does not mean you want somebody to be traded. And there's some insider information in the locker room. And this is not a LeBron thing.
Dan Patrick
Okay, first of all, Rich, it is hypothetical because you're not running the Lakers. You don't have to tell me that it's hypothetical. We know you're not. Well, you might be running the Lakers, but not, like, officially. And it's coming from you. And your number One client is LeBron James. Like, you have to be aware of this. You can't go, wait, what if people are reading into this? It was hypothetical. You're LeBron James's agent. Do you think LeBron has had conversations with his agent about, hey, what would you do? What do you think we should do? I'm going to guess the answer is yes. Not a hypothetical. Probably a yes. You know what? Austin Reeves going to want $50 million a year. You got to get a rim protector. You know, you got to get a big guy in there. You know what I would do? I'd say to management, just, you know, let's get rid of Austin Reeves. You don't have to pay me. Bring in Jaren Jackson. Like, that sounds like it's more than hyperbole. Yes, MARVIN.
Marvin
And also, LeBron, I guess, has a history of getting people traded.
Dan Patrick
So I guess hypothetically. Hypothetically, yeah.
Marvin
So if I'm Austin Reeves and his agent. No, I hear you. Dave McMinn reported it. He was like. He went up to him during the Hawks game, like, what are you doing?
Dan Patrick
Yeah, Yeah. I mean, Rich Paul's got to be aware. Come on. Yeah, it's like when Shefty goes on and then he starts to kind of speculate. Well, it doesn't end up as you're just kind of speculating it. It's a report. And Rich Paul being a powerful agent, LeBron's agent there in Los Angeles. Are you trying to tell me you and your client haven't had conversations about how to make the Lakers better in what is going to be probably your last year? Come on.
Paulie
Yeah, Paulie, if Marvin and I brought up trading Austin Reeves, that would be a hypothetical. We have no say in the matter and no one would react to it, but we. Again, like you said, if you're LeBron James's agents, you have to know that if you say this, people are going to put it together, especially NBA reporters looking for juicy morsels before the trade deadline.
Dan Patrick
You have to.
Paulie
And this guy's really smart. I mean, he's a great businessman. But you have to realize that you.
Dan Patrick
Got to be aware and read the room of what. How they're going to read into this. I mean, if you're LeBron's former agent, then you're fine. Or if you're Austin Reeves's agent, then you're fine. You're LeBron's agent. LeBron's still trying to figure out where he fits in when Austin Reeves comes back with Luca. This might be your last year. They. They put a patch on their jerseys for your client. LeBron wants to win another championship, obviously. How can we get closer? How about we trade for Jaren Jackson Jr. And we give up Austin Reeves? That means it's LeBron and Luca. Those are the two guys scoring. You got a great rim protector and Jaren Jackson Jr. Okay, that's not a big leap. Update the poll results if you can. Seaton.
Seaton
I can. You know, this all reminds me a lot, by the way, of you and Mike Tomlin and the USC job. Again, like, I didn't say that you were going to take the job. I'm just saying that USC is interested in you as a head coach.
Dan Patrick
And I. Okay. But I did make the mistake, though, because I even heard somebody yesterday on a show say, what about Tomlin? If he decided to go to usc? And I smacked my forehead. I'm like, no, no, no, no, no. All I was telling you is USC had a long list of, you know, possible candidates that they would be interested in. But I still made the mistake because of my voice. And I say this now, somebody doesn't hear all the other stuff, the ancillary stuff where I said he. There's no sign that he's interested in usc. I'm telling you, USC is interested in Mike Tomlin. Like, that was the coaching search. They were looking at everybody before they brought in Lincoln Riley. That was it. But, you know, I. I have to own that and take that blame. Maybe one day Mike Tomlin will come on the show and I'll say, mike, I'm sorry about the USC thing.
Marvin
Yes, Marvin, but you're not Mike Tomlin's agent.
Dan Patrick
No, I'm not. But I am a Hall of Famer. You don't seem impressed by that. Yes, I would rather be a starter.
Seaton
At Nebraska or backup at Oregon. That's man. 73% have it as a starter at Nebraska. And is John Harbaugh in a better football situation now than he was a month ago? 62% say no. No, he's not.
Dan Patrick
Boomer Esiason is going to join us. Coming up. Top of the hour. RG3 will join us as well. Paulie still doesn't believe that those people would rather be the starting quarterback at Nebraska instead of the backup quarterback at Oregon.
Paulie
If you're in Nebraska. There hasn't been a Nebraska quarterback taken in the first six rounds of the draft since Vince Ferragamo in 1974. Oh, Dylan Raiola had very little chance in the current trajectory of his career to make the NFL at Nebraska. You go to Oregon, you sit for a year as a red shirt, you get paid, you get a chance to start next year. That's their plan and his plan. It could change, of course, but worked for Bo Nix. It worked for Dylan Gabriel. It's working for Dylan. Dylan Moore.
Dan Patrick
Dante.
Paulie
Dante Moore. It's working very well.
Dan Patrick
