We made it to a Friday. It's a meat Friday at that. It's our two Dan and the Dan. That's Dan Patrick Show. We got our starting lineup. Fritzy Seaton, Marv Poly, yours truly, and of course, the back room guys who are pitching in on this meat Friday because our chef Dylan got hurt yesterday playing pickleball because he didn't have the right shoes on the Tyrell pickleball shoes. But in case you're wondering, meat Friday, it's lamb burgers. We have chicken salvaki skewers, and we have Greek salad. Who has it better than we do? Nobody. Oh, you guys sound a little more enthusiastic with this. These dishes than I thought. Yeah, Paul, it looks fantastic. Greek food's really good. Really tasty. Yeah, maybe once a year I was on with Guy Fieri, Diners Drive Ins and Dives, and he said, hey, what do you think of Greek food? And I said, he goes, well, we're going to a Greek restaurant. So I did my episode of Diners Drive Ins and Dives, and we were at a Greek restaurant in. In the Connecticut area. And, you know, I think I was convincing as an actor that I enjoyed the food. I mean, the food was good. I'm just not a. I like Greek food. Once a year, it's good, but that's. That's today. That's the. Once a year. It's today already. 8, 7, 7, 3, DP show email address dp@danpatrick.com Twitter handle @d We had football ish last night. I was good with it, enjoyed it. Just loved seeing two teams out there. Even though it didn't really mean too much. It wasn't pretty. But hall of Fame weekend, and it was Charger uniforms. Man, are they good. But so are the Lions. But the Chargers. You know, there's certain uniforms when you're growing up and you see them for the first time and they stay with you. And the Chargers were the first game that I saw in person. I saw the Chargers and the Bengals in Cincinnati, and John Hadel came out, and his number was 21, and he was the quarterback. And I go, what? Wait, how does he have that number? And those uniforms had one of my favorite players, Lance Alworth. They just looked faster, quicker, better, and they were. Than the Bengals because the Bengals were an expansion team. But I just remember they came out and it was like, whoa, there's a few Few of those team, you know, the Padres in the. In the 70s, had terrible looking uniforms, and they were all brown and, and. And now they have really good looking uniforms. They've taken a lot of the brown out of it. But I do like that yellow, you know, that. That gold that they have in there. But there are certain uniforms where it just looked different. I remember the Marquette warriors when Al McGuire was the head coach, and they had uniforms that you didn't tuck into your shorts. And I go, are you allowed to do that? And Al McGuire let his players design the uniforms, and they were wild looking, but those. Those are just some of those. First time I saw UCLA play in person, that Bruin blue, I mean, it just looked different. The Dodgers, first time I saw them play in Cincinnati, and I was like, wow, that is gorgeous. Like, white. Is white a color? Because I looked at it and I go, I've never looked at a white uniform, and go, boy, that is a beautiful shade of white. But it was just so popping. Yes, Marvin. It's called heaven white. Okay, thank you. All right, so that's a color then, Is that right, Todd? I would call it a color because it would be in a box of crayons or in paint and things like that. White is a color, just like black is a color. Red, green, it's not colorless. Should we do some research on this? Yeah. I don't know how it couldn't be a color. Okay. I'm just asking, Todd. I didn't graduate second in my class. Like, water is colorless, but white is white. Yes, Paul. According to an article, white is the lightest color and has no chroma, which makes it the least color in a color. Okay. But it is technically. Technically a color. Okay, so we learned something. There you go. Yeah. Yes, Paul. The two uniforms that stood out to me, where I went, whoa. When I was a kid, I was watching a Michigan football game against Purdue, and it's probably the first time I saw Michigan football with the blue and the maze and the helmets. As I was like, whatever that is, I like it. And there's a guy named Anthony Carter who you remember, And I was like, I fell for it. And I would say the same thing. I saw Steve Garvey in the World Series for the Dodgers. I was like, man, does he look cool. And those uniforms are cool. Yeah. You know, the Reds had, like, gray, and then they had, you know, Cincinnati on their uniforms, and they were like, okay. But if you go back to the Cincinnati Reds back in the 60s when Pete Rose first came Up. Now those were sharp looking because they had sleeveless jerseys there. Ted, Ted Cluzinski, big first baseman. I remember he had cut off sleeves as his uniform top. And those were sharp looking uniforms. But I think everybody has one of those when you see something in person or even if you see it on TV where you know, Notre Dame came out one year and they, you know, with the, the. The helmet was you know, as gold as it's ever been. Like it was golden dome. And that really stood out watching usc, first time I saw them in person because I didn't like the uniform because they always beat Ohio State. Therefore I don't like that uniform. Then you see it in person, you go, yeah, looks pretty good. I'm pretty good with that. Marvin, you got one. Yes. And you're going to hate it. I saw the Mariners play the Yankees. Is my first MLB game. Ken Griffey Jr. And they had the teal alternate uniforms. Ken Griffey Jr. Was looking like a million dollars. He looked like a million dollars in any uniform but he had a teal Mariners uniform. I'm not a teal guy but. But though you're all in on the Mariners, you got your Mariners hat on today. Oh, let's go. Cal Riley, look, my favorite baseball team of all time. 95 Mariners. Come on. Joey Cora, second second baseman, right. Jay Buer, the Martinez's no relation. I know Randy Johnson, obviously Griffey, that was a star studded team. That didn't. Dude, they lost in the alc. That's to a really good Cleveland Indians team. Yeah, but they didn't, they didn't get there. Man. They captured the imagination. That's the beauty about Sports center in the 90s is that that entire summer in 1995 you guys led with the Seattle Mariners coming back being down in the ALS against the California Angels and they wanted a one game playoff. Maybe that was. Sorry. Going back always. Yes. Paul going back to the Chargers and last night. Now they don't. Back in the early 80s they didn't wear the powder blue. It was more of a dark blue and gold with the Dan Fouts. But when I was a kid I saw Dan Fouts and Charlie Joiner and Jefferson and those guys. They looked fast, they look fun. It played to a younger audience. They always have. And the Rams had yellow in their uniform there for a while and then they, they moved on from that. There's just certain jerseys where they're just like man, that left an indelible mark on me. Good morning. If you're watching on Peacock that's our streaming partner. Thank you for downloading the app. Fritz, he has a song, and it's a song that is, I believe, a Billy Joel song that makes fun of the Beatles. Is that correct, Todd? That would be accurate. Okay. You have a Holland Oates jersey on or a T shirt on. That may be a reference to Holland Oates in one of the lines, but it's basically off of a Billy Joel song. Okay. Yes. Beatles related. Yes. Marvin, this kind of feels like a diss track. Oh, no, I know it is. I've heard a bit of it. No, he's gonna take a shot at me. So you're Drake and he's Kendrick Lamar. Ooh, that doesn't end well for me. But you get to take a shot at my dad singing and being off pitch and not with the tune of the song. So everybody will win. But you're trying to do well. Correct. I was trying to do well, but I knew that it wasn't going to match up exactly. And it was going to probably be received as more harsh than hopefully, the words you find clever. Yes, Paul, I did hear some of the productions down the hallway, and I talked to one of the studio producers who produced this opus, and Fritzi was offered a backing track of the music. Not going to tell you what the song was. It's a famous song. He passed and wanted to do it acapella. Okay. I had to, because the way I wrote it, it wasn't going to match up exactly with the words of the song. So there was no way to be able to unless there was some fancy editing involved. Do we have the song, Marvin? We do. Okay, let's go. Let's go. Here's Fritzi with the Billy Joel song. Making fun of my love of the Beatles Boy band Weird hair, new sound, I don't care not into any of their notes the hype's been wrong for way too long Give me hauling Oates Hey Jude get out of here that's not one we want to hear like you're single yesterday let's leave it in the past she loves you Close the lid that one is so mid Puts my ears into a cast hey, Jude not to be rude, but what the heck is that? Dude, I think you kind of get the gist. Makes me wanna slash my wrist it's no kiss on my list the Beatles are overrated Everybody knows it so the case, let's close it the Beatles are overrated it's an average band that wants to hold your hand Help. I don't feel at Ease sergeant Pepper makes me sneeze to something they just lack Penny Lane that's insane Strawberry Fields are lame Gimme Captain Jack Twist and shout, leave some doubt I'd much rather deal with gout don't wanna be too mean but living in a submarine what's that all about? All you need is love no. Let it be, let it go Pay attention, Ringo Starr Backstreet Boys in sync, they're much better at least I think perhaps I've gone too far. The Beatles are overrated Everybody knows it so the case, let's close it. The Beatles are overrated it's an average band that wants to hold your hand and they should be banned. Okay, I'm gonna give you a round of applause there, Todd. That's for fun. Yeah. First, I know I'm not winning any singing awards, but I just. I know it came to me and I wanted to give it a shot. No, I. I thought it was fun, you know, you had some fun there. Let's go around the room. Marvin. If he had somebody produce it and just kind of stretch it out a little bit, the lyrics are great, but he was just offbeat. He's always off offbeat with that. His timing's not very good, but lyrically I thought it was fun, you know. Got a lot of songs in there. Took some shots. Paul. Right on what I expected. Good writing, good jokes. Totally doesn't match the song whatsoever, timing wise. Exactly what I expected. All right. What about you, Seaton? Yeah, nailed it. Okay. And again, it wasn't supposed to be a shot directly at you and be mean spirited towards you. It was just in the spirit of fun and, you know, comparing hall notes and Billy Joel to the Beatles or anything. I didn't want you to take it too personally. It shouldn't be seen as an attack. It was more of a playful kind of thing. Okay. That's how I. That's how I wrote it, and that's how I decided to do something about it. Yeah, I'm. I'm fine with it wasn't meant to be cruel towards. You don't have to apologize. It's okay. It's. It's called satire. Exactly. You know, you're just having some fun, playful fun. Friday, meet Friday kind of thing. Yeah. A band that I grew up with, you know, kind of formed my childhood. Here we go. One of the great bands of all time. Lyrically, I just craft right all over it. But that's okay. It's all right all in good fun does it make you feel better that okay. That's really what this is all about. Shall get attacked by pro Beatles people. Maybe I'll get a few. You're right. You know, said what needed to be said or sung what didn't need to be sung. Whatever it is, it's all good. Okay, thank you, Todd. Dylan in San Diego. Hi, Dylan. What's on your mind today? What's up, DP? Long time listener, second time caller. 5 11, 185. So I got two things for you. One, you know, I'm really tired of Marvin slandering my Jaguar, so I have a pie of the face bet for him. Marvin, you've been piling on the Jacksonville Jaguars. Not on purpose, but I don't feel bad about it. Okay, so what's the bet, Bill? So the bet is whoever's closer to their over under. Right. Now, I understand that the 49ers, I think, are ten and a half wins, and I think the Jags are seven and a half. So whoever's closer to that over under win, the other person has to do a pie of the face. Marvin, how about I take the under and you take the over on your Jaguars? We'll just keep it simple. What under for the 49ers, okay. No, no, no. He's gonna take seven wins or less for the Jags, where you have to take eight wins or more for the Jags. Perfect men. I'm all about it. All right, pie to the face. Is somebody keeping track of all these pies to the face? I. I think maybe Mario. I think he had something in his office where he had a chalkboard. Yes, Marvin, I was just told Anthony is. Oh, Anthony's doing it. Okay. All right, Paul. Yes. That last caller said he's a fan of the Jacksonville football team, but he called it the Jaguars. I still hear Jaguar. Is that correct or is it Jaguars? Well, there's a car and then there's the animal. Is there like a British pronunciation? I think there's Jaguar. Jaguar. But I just. I. In fact, when I was doing SportsCenter, we would make fun of it. We just call it Jaguars just because it. You know, people say, oh, no, it's Jaguars. And I go, I don't think it's Jaguars, it's Jaguars. Clears that up. Yeah, of course it does. My. My great enunciating their Jaguars. Thank you, Dylan. So now we have the bet on record. Bob in Montana. Hi, Bob. What's on your mind today? Oh, hey, D.P. hey, real quick. I do owe Marvin a pie to the face bet here for the NBA final. So I will, I'll do that in the fall. But the real reason I'm calling is thanks for the shout out yesterday from Tyler in Utah. I would be more than happy to road trip back down to Vegas again November with my Elvis suits because you said before that you and I hanging out in our boxers backstage at the Fountain Blue was one of the greatest moments in your sports history career. So I would happy to become be able to come down and recreate that moment and do whatever you guys need me to do at the F1 race. All right. Thank you, Bob. I don't think it was one of the great moments of my career in my underwear. Backstage with Bob from Montana. We're putting on Elvis jumpsuits and yeah, we'll give you more details about going to Vegas for Formula 1. I don't know if we can have a studio audience the way we did last time when we were there for the super bowl. But if we can, we'll let you know Notre Dame, USC will be going to that. We'll let you know the whole setup with that and if you can stop by the set as well. So we're trying to clear some things, but those are some of the things as far as road trips that we have coming up. All right, we'll take a break and we'll recap our first hour poll question. We'll come up with a new one. We'll talk about the NFL's new first down measuring system from last night. And I'm going to bring back what I talked about of the AFC west with the coaches. Do you have four hall of Fame coaches in the AFC west right now? And when's the last time we had a division where you had four hall of Fame caliber coaches in the same division at the same time? When I became a journalist, I was the first Latina in the newsrooms where I worked. I'm Maria Hinojosa. I dreamt of having a place where voices that have been historically sideline would instead be centered. For over 30 years now, Latino USA has been that place. This is Latino USA, the radio journal of news and cultula. As the longest running Latino news and culture show in the United States, Latino USA delivers the stories that truly matter to all of us. From sharp and deep analysis of the most pressing news, they're creating this narrative that immigrants are criminals. This is about everyone, freedom of speech. Nobody expected two popes from the American continent to stories about our cultures and our identities. When you do get a trans character like Emilia Perez, the trans community is gonna push back on that colorism. All of these things that exist in Mexican culture and Latino culture, you'll hear from people like Congresswoman Aoc. I don't wanna give them my fear. I'm not gonna give them my fear. New technology has come to the NFL and it was on display last night. Instead of the chain gang system, the NFL announced that this was back in April that it would use the Sony Hawkeye technology as the primary way to measure the first down marker. And we got our first glimpse of that last night. So instead of bringing the chains onto the field to determine the line to gain or if it's a first down, the NFL's new system makes the information available in a matter of seconds, potentially eliminating some of the controversial measurements that pop up seemingly on a weekly basis. Before I go any further, you know what the controversial measurements are. For me, it's when the official spots the ball and you go, what? That's controversial. Not the chain gang guys. I like the chain gang guys coming out there. I like, you know, that tents. Is it going to be a first down? Are they going to turn over the, you know, the ball on downs? So those guys, there's still a backup option, but it's, you know, it's like being a backup singer. You're not the lead singer. And the Hawkeye technology, you know, as long as they get it right, I mean, I. With technology, if you have it, then use it. And if it speeds up the game, because a lot of technology doesn't necessarily speed up the game, it might get the call right. I have more of a problem where the official spots the ball because that just seems random. This. All right, they're going to get it right. I don't know if we had that many controversial measurements, but I know we've had controversial spotting of the ball. Yeah, Paul. Yeah, it'll definitely save time. According to Yahoo, it's. It's at least 10 seconds because the guy's running out there planting it. And the old chain style, there is a little bit of drama because they show the grid, it looks like a cartoon, and then they say first down or not. So there's a little bit of, I would say, old school stuff. But the. The thing about doing a measurement off a spot can't be done because you can't measure where the player is down with the ball simultaneously. There's no, like, chip in the knee of the player, so they can't get to that yet. Well, even the ball that. If you have a chip on where the ball is. I just think that there's far more controversy with the randomness of when they spot the ball. Not first down, marker. And I do love the chain gang. My father used to be part of a chain gang. High school football. Friday nights, he'd be out there in his wingtips, in his trench coat, and he would be a part of the chain gang. So soft spot in my heart for the chain guy. Yes, Eden. No human element in the spotting thing. That's only balls and strikes. Not spotting a football. Well, the human element of balls and strikes is going to come to an end too. It sure is. Yes, it is. It seems weird in an age of AI that we're like, yeah, but I just like the guy randomly doing it. Why not just let. Just go. Let the guy go do it. We do pick and choose of the old school randomness. The human element of this. Yeah. Oh, we can't have that. But, oh, and baseball balls and strikes. Yeah, I like the human element of that. Yes, Todd. And I don't know what you could do. Technology was. But forward progress to me is very subjective as well. When you blow that whistle, when is he officially stopped? And then you wait another half a second, all of a sudden he falls forward for that extra half yard. That could be the difference in a first down or not. When is it called? Done at the play. Thank you, Todd. Welcome, Emerson in Tampa. Hi, Emerson. What's on your mind today? Hey, how are you doing? Good, good. I got a quick start of the day. Oh, first 57108. How old are you, Emerson? I'm 12. Okay, I'm glad to have you part of the program. How can I help you? I got a quick start of the day for you of your callers from last week. Okay. The average height of all your callers was 5 11. The average weight was 209. Your tallest caller was 6 6. And your heaviest caller was 299. Well, thank you, Emerson. Stat of the day. Stat of the day. Stat of the day. Stat of the day. Here comes that. What? Stat of the day. Thank you, Emerson. We appreciate the phone call. David in Ohio. Hi, David. What's on your mind today? Hey, Dan. Happy Meat Friday. Nobody. After doing a brief bit of research, I did find out that they do have, like, a chip or something in the ball. You kind of answered the question earlier, but I guess I could pivot to this. Todd was trashing on the Beatles. So I think, Todd, we. I think we just need to come together. So thank you. All right, David, little Beatles humor there. Go ahead, make fun of the Beatles. Overrated. In case you missed the song, you're lucky. I mean, you can always go to danpatrick.com and listen to Todd making fun of the Beatles. I'm looking at NFC east coaches from 1981 to 1990 because I brought up the AFC West. You have Andy Reid. Hall of Famer Pete Carroll's got a case being a Hall of Famer. Jim Harbaugh is a Hall of Fame caliber coach. If you combine college in the pros, and then you have Sean Payton, who is, I guess, every bet, the equal that Mike Tomlin and John Harbaugh are, and they're considered to be hall of Famers. Bill Cower got in, and I would say Sean Payton is, you know, on par with those kind of resumes. But I wondered if you had four hall of Fame caliber coaches in the NFC east, and you start with Tom Landry, Dick Vermeil, and Joe Gibbs. They all overlapped in 1981, but then the Giants had Ray Perkins, so parcels wasn't there. Then you had Tom Landry, Joe Gibbs, Bill Parcells, but the Eagles coach was Marion Campbell. Then you had coach Landry, Gibbs, Parcell's Buddy Ryan. They overlapped for a year or so, and then you had Gibbs, Parcells, Ryan, and Jimmy Johnson, and they overlapped a few years. Buddy's not in the hall of Fame, is he? I don't think he is. He wasn't a great head coach, but he was a great defensive coordinator. Yes, Marvin? Oh, no, I'm just shaking my head. I'm agreeing with you. Oh, yeah. Oh, okay. I didn't know. I. I don't think Buddy Ryan's in the hall of Fame because head coach stops. I don't think he produced maybe some playoff teams, but I don't think he didn't win any championships. But he was the defensive coordinator for the Bears. But I was wondering about that. Is there. Boy, I'd have to Rack my brain on this, or maybe the audience can help me. Is there a division that had four hall of Fame caliber coaches at the same time? And that's why when I thought of the AFC west last night, it was like, you got guys who were hall of Fame coaches all in the same division. That's rare. Tom in North Carolina. Hi, Tom. What's on your mind today? Adp. Great first hour. I did want to comment about your first segment, but I want to preface this by saying I'm not looking for anybody to get fired. It'll, you know, not saying anything about that. But you were talking earlier in the week about One of the BRGs maybe being overplaced. All that. But the reason why I was calling is the first segment. My wife had pointed it out. She said, what's going on with Dan's hair? And I was like, wow, it looks like Alfalfa. And I just want to know if somebody's responsible. I know it. You can't stop it right there. But I can. I can see Todd hanging you out to drive. But as far as these other guys, I don't think. Well, nobody had anything to do with this. Is my hair plastered down a little bit like Alfalfa from our gang? I thought Alfalfa was the. Like, it stuck up. Yeah. Is my hair sticking up? Well, not from where I can. I don't know if maybe my eyesight is poor, poorer than I remember, but I can't see any hair sticking up. No. Yeah. I don't know. Maybe I think, you know, threw a little pomade on it. We usually do you a solid, though. Like, you got something on your face. We're like, hey, dude, you got something on your face. We use. We're usually pretty good about it. Yeah. So you guys didn't leave me hanging? No. Like, Todd might leave me hanging today. I usually say, don't tell Dan, but did you see? That is true. But sometimes I. I have it coming. Todd's wife apparently is backstabbing me, too, today that I don't know how to pronounce the dish. One of the dishes that we're having today. Is that right, Todd? I think you said suvaki, and it's sluvaka. I don't know. I'm not even getting it right. But if you tried to clarify something with the. One of the Greek foods. Okay, wait, your wife is critiquing me, but you don't even know how to pronounce it? Is that. Am I getting this right? I think it's. I think we were Calling it. Or you were calling it Souvlaki. Actually, it is souvlaki. And we were calling it souvlaki. You may have said souvaki. And it's souvlaki if I'm reading this text right. Okay. I don't think she was doing. I think she was just doing it as a correction, not. Ha ha. You don't know what you're talking about. Why you're being very sensitive today. Well, just feels like the whole Fritz family is piling on a little bit. And then she went on to. She doubled down with an explanation of white versus black. How you. The definition of the colors and the spectrum and the whole Roy G. Biv. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet prism that happens with the cause of the rainbow. Whatever. I didn't go there. I let her handle that. The hell are we talking about right now? I have just Todd's wife taking shots at me. Todd taking a shot at me. Your daughter's probably going to have something to say, too. He usually does. Yeah, he's not sure. Stop picking on my dad. Rich in Athens. Hi, Rich. What's on your mind today? Hey, guys. Always a pleasure speaking with you. And as always, I'm sitting here with my dog Fritzi watching the DP show. You guys were talking about the Chargers uniform earlier. Got me thinking. I compiled a list, a short list of what I think are the best uniforms in sports history. And I also wanted to get Yalls take on that. We got Chargers powder blue. We got Houston Astros Tequila phone rides from the 70s and 80s. We've got the Toronto Raptors, the purple Dino away jerseys from the 90s. And we got the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, Goldberg. And then we also have the best uniform in sports history. Sunday, red and black from one Tiger. Eldrick Woods. Let's go. Thank you, Rich. Yeah, I can guess the era that he grew up in. The Raptor uniforms. Yes. Marvin, take that Raptors uniform off. Vince Carter got there and they were like, we have to take this team serious. And they got rid of those jerseys. I think Vince threatened to leave Toronto unless they change the uniforms. Jack in Kentucky. Hi, Jack. What's on your mind today? On your mind today. And second time caller, longtime listener. 5, 11, 170. I wanted to comment on the four hall of Fame coaches, same division, 1994 AFC East. You got Bill Parcells with the Patriots, Marv Levy with the Bulls Bills. I'm sorry. And you also had throwing a blank here. Yeah. Don Shula with the Fins. And Then, of course, even though he wasn't hall of Fame coach just yet, he had Pete Carroll one time, year with the. With the Jets. Okay. Yeah, the judges will accept that. I mean, Pete wasn't a great coach at the time. You had the. You have these guys now deep into their careers in the AFC West. I mean, you can make a case they're all hall of Famers. Pete Carroll and, you know, with one super bowl win, two super bowl appearances, Sean Payton won a Super Bowl. Andy Reid, of course, is a Hall of Famer. Harbaugh just kind of the totality of his resume that he's a Hall of Famer as well. Got to a Super bowl, lost to his brother. Let me see. Zach and Knoxville. Hi, Zach. What's on your mind today? Adp. Thanks for taking my call. I just wanted to weigh in on the whole Beatles controversy growing up. I'm the youngest of five, and my dad said that if we ever made a car payment that we could choose the radio station. So that never happened. Grew up listening to 50s, 60s, and early 70s music. And I think what Todd's missing is the Beatles influence from singing songs like Hold My Hand and not just being like Herman's Hermits with Henry viii. I am. So I think he's missing the influence that. That they had. And as far as Terry McLaurin goes, pay that man. He's money. Thank you, Zach. Yeah, but it's weird. Todd doesn't like Michelle Beetle either. Like, it's the Beatles and you don't even like Michelle Beetle. That wasn't a private moment, but whatever with all the dirty laundry. Justin in New York. Hi, Justin. What's on your mind today? Hey, Dan. First time? Long time. 5, 10, 1. 77. My daughter Evelyn sent you a little card a couple weeks ago, and she saw it on your desk the other day, and she wanted to call in and thank you for putting it on there. Okay, go ahead. Hi, dan. I'm Evelyn. 4 foot 6 inches and I'm 64 pounds. I just wanted to tell you, let you know that I'm a huge fan of your show, and I greatly appreciate you putting my letter on your desk, Evelyn. Thank you. I. I have the card here. It says I love you and I love your podcast. Is that from Evelyn Finkel? Is that right? Yeah. Well, thank you. Do you have a favorite? Danette? Go ahead, Marvin. Marvin is your favorite. Okay. Well, Evelyn, thank you. It's a very, very pretty card that I have here, and you got some hearts on there and some stars, and then you have A note on the back. You love hearing me talk about NFL and I always agree with you and I always love hearing the new stat of the day songs. You are the best. Well, thank you, Evelyn. Thank you for calling in. Very nice. See, Todd, that's awesome. Yeah, it's just nice to have somebody who appreciates. You know what? That was by far the best moment in the show so far. And it may be for the next hour and a half. Let's take a break. Maybe I'm going to go over there and hug you. I don't think you're going to do that. Yeah, give me a virtual hug is fine. I'll take that. Yeah, I'm going to go over there and hug you. Todd. It's a new me. You know I welcome physical. I know you do, but usually it's with women, not men. Usually. But I'll make an exception for you. Yes. Thank you. All right, we'll take a break. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. They're gonna watch Happy Gilmore 2. Finally getting around to it. My guest tonight is movie night at your house. Little Italian dinner at around 6, and then I guess around 7:30, 8 o'. Clock. Let's roll it. So I'm gonna set the mood, I think, for the night. You are with my role. I'll get back to you on what happens on the back end of that little Olive Garden tonight. And then all of you, the. The night is young. Who knows what'll transpire? I'm guessing nothing. I'm guessing nothing too. But, you know, let's keep our hopes up. Nothing. But my wife finally got around to watching Happy Gilmore 2 with my youngest daughter. And she said, I really enjoyed it. I didn't think it would be a movie that she would embrace, but she did watch the original the night before. And I said, honey, you don't need to watch that to understand Happy Gilmore too. And she goes, no, I just wanted to. You know, just so I understood if there's any jokes from first one to the second one said, okay. And she, she liked Vern Lundquist. I said, okay. I said, what? Was he the best sports announcer in the movie? She goes, no. I just. I thought he was funny. I thought his delivery was really funny. We have. Our first casualty was a great line in the first few minutes of the movie, by the way, you slide into the weekend thanks to King's Hawaiian. And in summer it's grilling season. Get ready and you start in the bakery or deli section of your local grocery store. Pick up the irresistible kings of wine rolls, slider buns and enjoy. Coming up this weekend you've got Terry Scubal is pitching. Paul Skeens is pitching. Now I'm wondering about this. I'm looking at Paul Skeens when he was in college, he was a great hitter. Starting out at Air Force Academy, he was a legitimate power hitter. And I'm wondering, God, next time we have him on, I gotta ask him, is there any chance that he could go otani on us and not only be a great pitcher but great hitter but I think he's got some pretty good power numbers. He went to Air Force Academy and then he went to LSU after that. The fever at the wings, Paige Beckers is. She's looking pretty good. She averaged around 18 a game and is. When's Caitlin Clark coming back? Is there any, any update on this? By the way, her teammate, what's her name, Sophie Cunningham, she's become a thing by. It was one moment where she stood up for Caitlin Clark and she brought down an opposing player going in for a layup and she talked about on her podcast, show me something on Caitlin Clark being the face of the league. It literally like pisses me off and people are like she's not the face of the league. Who would be? What? Sabrina? No, no. There's really good, well known people in our league. I'm not, I'm not discrediting them. Like we have a lot of badasses in our league. Like hell yeah to that. I'm all for that. But when people try to argue that she's not the face of our league. Yeah. Or if our league would be were at without her. You're dumb. Yeah. You're literally dumb. So that's the enforcer for the Fever, Sophie Cunningham and her podcast, show me something podcast. Yeah. This isn't, it's not. I mean you can have an opinion but it's fact. She's the face of the league. I mean the numbers bear this out. But yeah. Paulie, I went back and look at Paul Skeens at Air Force and you're right, he was completely a two a player. He hit 410 with 11 home runs as a freshman. Yeah. I wonder if he's thought about trying to be a two way player in baseball. Let's see soccer On Sunday, Man United vs Everton and Tottenham vs Newcastle. The Wyndham championship as well coming up this weekend. So slide into the weekend courtesy of Kings Hawaiian. Coaches in the 1969 AFL Western Division. Paul Brown, Lou Saban, Sid Gilman, Hank Stram, and John Madden. All but Saban are in the hall of Fame. Madden was at the front end of his career in 1969. Okay. Talking about maybe the modern era of the NFL. But that's the AFL. But thank you, sir. Thank you. Jay in Delaware. Hi, Jay. What's on your mind today? Hey, D.P. i was talking about the coaches topic and I thought about the NFC west in the early 2010s when we had Jim there, Pete there, BA, and Jeff Fisher was on a good run, too. I thought, you know, a lot of us probably thought Jeff Fisher was going to have a little bit better coaching career than what he ended up having. But you've got three potential hall of Fame coaches and then Jeff Fisher kind of close to that. All right. Well, thank you. Yeah, it just came to me last night. I'm watching the game and I'm thinking of the AFC west. And they show Harbaugh and I'm go, you know, Andy Reid, hall of Famer Pete Carroll back in the NFL, hall of Famer Sean Payton, hall of Famer, and Jim Harbaugh with the combination of college and pro hall of Famer Mike in Iowa. Hi, Mike. What's on your mind today? ADP first time, long time. 611 89. Yes. Listen, I have to weigh in. I can't believe anybody needs to back you up on your take with the Beatles. But several years ago, an author who was a muted music critic by the name of Stephen Haydn came out with a band, a book called your book favorite band is killing me. It's like kind of a rivalry like documentary of rivalry of bands. It's. I'm paraphrasing here, but essentially he says arguing against the Beatles being the greatest band in the world is like arguing against gravity because there are so few things that the world comes together to agree on. And pretty much the world agrees that the Beatles are the greatest band of all time. Well, thank you, Mike. It's in the eye or ear of the beholder. And if Fritzi didn't get the Beatles, doesn't get Springsteen. That's on him. There's only so much I can do. I try. I try. Yeah, Paul, I half agree with that. You could disagree with the music of the Beatles and not enjoy it, which Richie does not. But I don't think you could really argue with the worldwide impact. That's a tougher one to argue with in any way. Mike in Michigan. Hi, Mike. What's on your mind? Hello. Hi, Mike. Hey, Dan. Good morning. Morning. I love the phone call from the young girl that sent you the card. Thank you. And it kind of, kind of struck me after I thought about it for a minute that why Marvin was her favorite Dan, that it must be because they both got small hands. Wow, man. We're supposed to be feeling good on a Friday. What was that about? I think because you and Evelyn have the same hand size, that's why she could relate to you. And you're her favorite, Danette. I mean, he's not wrong, but that still hurts. Ah, we gonna play nice Final hour. I'm gonna leave it up to you guys. No, Nobody. It's a meat Friday. Morale is high. Hey, everyone, it's Jay Shetty. The Dan Patrick Show – Hour 2: Technology vs Chain Gang, Fritzy Hates the Beatles
Release Date: August 1, 2025
Host: Dan Patrick
Network: iHeartPodcasts and Dan Patrick Podcast Network
The episode opens with Dan Patrick enthusiastically celebrating "Meat Friday," highlighting the day's featured dishes: lamb burgers, chicken souvlaki skewers, and Greek salad. The hosts, Dan and his co-hosts Fritzy Seaton, Marv Poly, and the backroom team, express their delight in the menu, sharing humorous anecdotes about past culinary experiences.
Notable Quote:
Dan Patrick [02:15]: "Who has it better than we do? Nobody."
The conversation swiftly shifts to a nostalgic discussion about memorable sports uniforms. Dan reminisces about seeing the Chargers and Bengals, expressing admiration for the Chargers' faster, more appealing uniforms compared to expansion teams like the Bengals. The hosts delve into various team uniforms from different eras, including the Marquette Warriors, UCLA Bruins, and the Seattle Mariners' teal uniforms, highlighting how these designs left lasting impressions.
Notable Quote:
Dan Patrick [05:30]: "I remember the Marquette Warriors when Al McGuire was the head coach... they were wild looking, but those are just some of those first-time impressions."
A highlight of the hour is Fritzy Seaton’s comedic performance—a song that playfully mocks The Beatles. The song lyrics express Fritzy’s exaggerated dislike for the legendary band, sparking a lively and humorous debate among the hosts. While some appreciate the humor and clever lyrics, others criticize the offbeat timing and execution.
Notable Quotes:
Fritzy Seaton [15:45]: "The Beatles are overrated, it's an average band that wants to hold your hand."
Marv Poly [16:10]: "First, I know I'm not winning any singing awards, but I just wanted to give it a shot."
Dan Patrick [18:00]: "That's awesome. It's all in good fun. Maybe I'll get a few pro-Beatles attacks."
The show features several listener calls, adding a personal and interactive dimension:
Dylan from San Diego engages in a friendly bet regarding the Jacksonville Jaguars' win totals, leading to a humorous agreement on a pie-in-the-face consequence for the loser.
Notable Quote:
Dylan [22:30]: "Whoever's closer to their over under, the other person has to do a pie in the face."
Bob from Montana shares excitement about replicating a memorable moment from a past Super Bowl, expressing eagerness to return to Vegas for the Formula 1 race.
Justin from New York brings a heartwarming moment as his daughter, Evelyn, thanks Dan for featuring her card on the show, highlighting the personal connections fostered by the podcast.
Notable Quote:
Dan Patrick [35:50]: "Evelyn, thank you. You are the best."
A significant portion of the discussion centers on the NFL's recent transition from the traditional chain gang system to the Sony Hawkeye technology for measuring first downs. The hosts debate the implications of this change, weighing the benefits of increased accuracy and reduced controversy against the loss of the human element that fans have cherished.
Notable Quotes:
Dan Patrick [40:20]: "With technology, if you have it, then use it. It might get the call right."
Todd [42:10]: "White is a color, just like black is a color."
Dan Patrick [45:00]: "I have more of a problem where the official spots the ball because that just seems random."
The hosts express mixed feelings—while some appreciate the efficiency and potential accuracy of the new system, others lament the removal of the iconic chain gang presence that adds drama and tradition to the game.
As the hour wraps up, Dan reflects on the day's discussions and listener interactions, particularly highlighting Evelyn's heartfelt message. The hosts hint at upcoming topics, including further exploration of coaching legends in various NFL divisions and potential reunions or special segments for significant sports events.
Notable Quote:
Dan Patrick [58:45]: "That was by far the best moment in the show so far. And it may be for the next hour and a half."
