Not every sale happens at the register before AT&T business Wireless checking out customers on our mobile POS systems took too long. Basically a staring contest where everyone loses. It's crazy what people will say during an awkward silence. Now transactions are done before the silence takes hold. That means I can focus on the task at hand and make an extra sale or two. Sometimes I do miss the bonding time.

Hope you had a great weekend. Gang's all here, ready to go. 2 Seth Greenberg from the Mothership will join us coming up momentarily. 8773 DP Show Best and worst of the weekend. What you saw that you liked, you didn't like. Operator Tyler sitting by. Good morning. If you're watching on Peacock or NBC Sports Network, download the app if you haven't done so. And we'll have a new poll question for the second hour of this program. Seaton, would you recap what we had from hour one? You can continue our ones poll question throughout the show if you want to.
Seaton (Sports Analyst)
Yeah, yeah, we probably will. In terms of the Yukon, Duke, Yukon wanted or Duke blew it? That's at about 81%. Duke blew it.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Seaton (Sports Analyst)
I also put up there, are you superstitious, a little stitious or not stitious at all?
Seth Greenberg
Right now?
Seaton (Sports Analyst)
Most of the audience, 63% are a little stitious, followed by superstitious. Not statious at all, though. Coming in with 15% of that vote.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Yeah, yeah. It feels like you're either superstitious, it's rarely. You're just kind of stitious. Yeah, yeah.
Paulie (Sports Analyst)
Paul, I think little stitches is a great line by Seaton because that fits in that window. I'll break a mirror or walk under a ladder at the drop of a dime, but if I'm sitting in a seat and my team is doing well, there is no reason to leave that seat.
Dan Patrick
8773 DP show email address dp@danpatrick.com Twitter handle the DP show the betting lines from DraftKings for the Final Four. It's Illinois minus one and a half against Connecticut, Michigan minus one and a half versus Arizona. Justin Gainey has taken the NC State job. He was an assistant coach at Tennessee. I gave you the update on North Carolina, which is there's really no update. I didn't know if these two coaches, you know, in the Michigan game, May and Lloyd, could be on that list for North Carolina. I was told that they are not that they're going to. I was told last night Michigan is going to try to wrap up May for a long, long, long time as their head coach and rightfully so. Billy Donovan apparently is still on the radar for North Carolina. Haven't heard anything other than that. Seth Greenberg of the Mothership, former college basketball coach, thanks for joining us. I know you've been busy this morning, but walk me through what is said in Both huddles. With 10 seconds to go in the Game. Let's start with Duke and what John Shire is probably saying to his players,
Seth Greenberg
run the ball to your hands, be strong with the basketball. Catch, turn and face. Let's make sure we have good spacing. Let's not bring too many guys into the backcourt. If we get trapped, let's have a man behind the ball, and then let's have a man come to the middle of the floor. Catch, turn, face, look up the floor. All right? Be strong with the basketball. If you can throw over the top and get a layup, that's fine. If not, just be strong with the ball and work to get open. Like, don't stand, don't post. Work to get open where you want to catch the ball.
Dan Patrick
Okay, now, what is Danny Hurley saying to his players?
Seth Greenberg
We're going to try to get one good trap, One good trap. We're going to try to shoot the gap on the reverse pass. If the ball comes to the middle of the floor, all right, we're probably going to give a foul, what happened, and it's really interesting. And then, you know, we want to give a foul early enough where we have a chance to get the basketball back. Ideally, we want to foul Patrick Gamba or we want to foul Sar. They're the two worst free throw shooters. The ball came back to Sar, actually, and they were a little late getting to the trap. And you could see a little push at the end of it. Once you threw the ball, the official passed on that. I thought it was interesting that Demery, who missed the free throw, also got the deflection that created the turnover. But those are the things that you're saying. Like, you know, Dan said, look, we're going to pressure to pass. Let's force it to the corner. Boozer did a good job of catching it. What I call the slot. They got to the trap. Good job of getting rid of it early. The pass was right on the money. They had great spacing. They had people behind. They did everything right. Duke, you know, I feel for Kaden because, you know, the kids had a monster season with all the injuries that they went through. The one thing when you catch it, you turn you face before you put the ball on the ground. And what he did was as he turned, he put the ball on the ground. So now to make that pass, he had to collect the ball. By that time, there was hand pressure on the passer. They get the deflection instead of just catching, fighting the pressure, waiting for the foul. I mean, it's hard for both of those because with that one play and John said it. 16, 0.0 turnovers in the second half, Connecticut outscored Duke 16. Oh, second half, 8 to 2 on the glass. First half, Duke had 14 point, second chance points. That's where the game was won. And that's what the relentlessness of UConn just chipping away, chipping away trying to make a play. And eventually they make four to last five threes.
Dan Patrick
I thought Hurley was going to call a timeout when they got the steal. Were you surprised? It almost. No, I mean, I like that they the.
Seth Greenberg
I wasn't right.
Dan Patrick
I like to let. I like to let my guy. I don't want you to set up. So now I've got you, we hope with an advantage. And it's always the trailing guy. And you know, Mullins, give him credit. You know, he gave up the ball, but he was ready when he got it back. But I thought Hurley, you know, coaches love to micromanage. And I thought, you know, he might try to call a timeout.
Seth Greenberg
Not with that much time things, but it's almost like, you know, you got a broken field, you know, in football, I mean, like there it's a scramble situation. So basically, the two guys on the deflection, they had two defenders behind the play because the two guys that they were going to throw over the top two were on the other side of the court. So in essence, you were four on three or five on four ahead of it. Now, Alex Caribbean and I go over to watch those guys practice all the time. So I'm there a lot. One of the great winners of all time. But how about the poise of Alex Caribbean? He just knocked down a three. They get the turnover, moans, passes it to him. He could have let that fly, but he had the poise to say, no, I'm going to throw back. He's got a better shot to see it in slow motion. Make that pass. And if you watch Braylen Moen, I don't know if you guys have snapshots of it. His release on that shot was picture freaking perfect. I mean, his release looked like it was Rick Mount back in the day. I mean, it was absolutely beautiful. And the poise they had in that moment was really impressive. Going to practice all the time, I always say you are your habits. And all coaches are like John Shire. They I've been in their film session, John Shire before a game where they literally go over NBA late game situations and he quizzes his team on what were you thinking there? What was he thinking there? Why did he make this So, I mean, they're covering that. But Dan Hurley on the other side, if you've been to his practices, he challenges every single possession, every single day. And there's an accountability every single. To basically to live up to the standard that he sets, which is an unrealistic standard. Yeah, but those guys buy in and absolutely love the guy and they play for him.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, and he's got juniors and seniors on that roster. And Mullins being the freshman, they're talking to Seth Greenberg of espn. Let me start with Michigan. And that, that's a, that's a grown up team, man. That's a great team.
Seth Greenberg
And they only play one freshman as well. They're old, physical, tough, long, athletic, can shoot it, share the ball, excellent passing. I mean, like you think about the start of the season, I think they won like 15, 6. I don't know how many they won in a row. They were playing high, major games, top 20, top 10 games. And they were treating them like guaranteed games, Dan. I mean, they were winning by 20 points. It was like, I felt bad. They were kicking people's asses. And I'm surprised the team that whose asses they were kicking should have gotten like $100,000 check as a guarantee game. I mean, they were just, they were just dominating people. Then people settle in, you get into league play. You know, obviously Duke got him, but thinking of Franklin 74 wingspan, Yoxel Lenberg, 74 wingspan, a three, they can shoot the three pass, make plays. Morris Johnson carves out space. Caddo has been absolutely terrific. You got Gale, you got burnett, you got McKitten. They've got so many different pieces, but the way the ball moves and the energy the ball has and then their ability and their length defensively, man, I'll tell you, watching them yesterday was like watching a clinic watching a highlight tape. You know, you're prepared for a game. You have a highlight tape of plays that you want your team to see. That's what the whole game was like yesterday. It was incredible.
Dan Patrick
And I've watched Illinois throughout the year. Now, not religiously, but I've watched them almost like every seven or ten games, you know, and, you know, they're big, they got, they got the kids from the Balkans. I mean, and I don't know if that's the future. Everybody loves to go, well, what is the future? You know, are you going to get those players and bring them in and everybody else is going to do this? I don't know. But Illinois, so many of them. Yeah, Illinois is not one of those Cinderella stories. Illinois is a really good, really impressive team.
Seth Greenberg
Yeah, they got a lot of vitches on their team. With a V, not a beat. I mean, like, they got a lot of itches. I mean, and those guys know how to play. And they're older. I mean, you know, Vicious brothers, they're older. Markovich, they're older. Stock, which, they're older. They've been coached hard their whole lives. They're highly skilled. They're about winning, they're about embracing roles. Then you got like Boswell and Wagler. I mean, like Wagler, the way he just deploys, he play, he looks like to me, and maybe I'm wrong. J. Bills thinks he's Tyrese Halliburton. Especially when he set that step back three where he kind of got himself behind the line. He reminds me a little bit of Curry, like. Like that baby face of his. He's much taller. That logo range, the middle game, the floaters, they're really talented. They're very good passing team. I thought their poise in the second half was incredibly impressive. I thought they went inside to vic it back to back and then stack, which he never settles. Just getting. It's kind of the opposite of his dad.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Yeah.
Seth Greenberg
His dad was like, pull up, bam. Knock down jumpers. And of course, you got to have an obligatory. Every single game they play, you gotta have the pages shot. It's automatic. You're gonna have the one page shot, like sitting at the edge of his chair, like, you know, rooting his son on, which is really cool. But they're really talented. They've got legitimate size, they've got legitimate depth. They can bring Hummer, Cows and Davis, you know, at times off the bench. They're a really good basketball team and a really well conceived and a really cool story because Brad Underwood, the guy started as a junior college coach.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Seth Greenberg
You know, he's coaching with his son. To be able to share that with his son, you know, to me, as a guy, had three daughters, but your family lives and dies each and every day with you. But to share it with your son like that, pretty cool.
Dan Patrick
Arizona, you know, they came out of the gate and I go, this is a deep Arizona team. When I saw them early in the season. And, you know, they've. They've been great wire to wire. What jumps out at you,
Seth Greenberg
they're great starters. You think about it, they bring a Del R. So off the bench, they bring a walk off the bench. You know, Jaden Bradley's an incredible leader and a great clutch player down the stretch, he makes plays. Burry's one. Another one of the great freshmen again, can get to spots. He's like a one man, fast break crevice does the things around the basket that you need to be done. You look at Karchenkov is like for the Michigan game, like defensively, they, you know, that matchup is going to be really, really interesting because he can guard absolutely anyone. The physicality of the front court and the matchups in the front court in this game is. They're going to be absolutely incredible. I mean, it's the only way to describe it. It's going to be incredible. This is a NASVILLE championship game. This is a game both teams are going to get up and down. This is a game that's going to be fiercely competitive. Tommy Lloyd is as calm when, when Cesar rough as anyone I've ever seen. I mean, we were there when I was State went on 14, 0 run. I grabbed him after the game. I said, Tommy, 1401. You didn't call timeout. He said, yeah, I'm not a very smart coach, but they need to sometimes figure stuff out on their own. His poised as a coach is incredible and he deflects everything. It's about the kids. He's a, you know, he's a byproduct of, of. Of Mark Few, but he also does it his own way. So impressive. The job he has done and that lineup, their roster is, is really, really good. I mean, the guys they bring off the bench, I know a walk is. I don't know if he's going to play basketball, but that dude looks like a tight end to me.
Dan Patrick
Great stuff, as always. Thanks for joining us, Seth, Dan, thanks for having me.
Seth Greenberg
I appreciate. Sorry about the mix up early on.
Dan Patrick
No worries. No worries. Seth Greenberg of the mothership, former college basketball coach. Yeah, we were going to have him last hour and then I saw him on espn. I said, fritzi, I don't think Seth is going to join us. And he goes, yeah, he's just getting back to us that he needs to do it next hour. I thought, okay, unless Mike Greenberg and Seth wanted to join us last hour, then I would have done that as well. We could have brought Greeny in. All right, we'll come up with a poll question for hour two. More of your phone calls, as we always do, best and worst of the weekend. And that North Carolina job, just kind of lingering there and I keep wondering is, are we waiting for somebody who's still coaching to go to North Carolina now that could still be Billy Donovan, who's coaching the Chicago Bulls, because from what I'm told, he is still on their radar. He has not said no. That's what was pointed out to me. He has not said no to that job. But yeah, you're just kind of trying to. And then you got the Kansas situation with Bill Self. This is what I told you last week. North Carolina doesn't want to lose somebody if somebody's going to take over for Bill Self. So you want to be ahead of that and get your guy instead of the second guy on the list. We'll take a break. We're back after this Dan Patrick Show.

Probably an odd thing to be thinking about yesterday as I'm watching Illinois play. Peja Stojakovich's son Andre is on Illinois and he went to Cal and then transferred to Illinois. Fernando Mendoza went to Cal, transferred to Indiana. That's the feeder school to, you know, the Midwest. Cal. Hey, we, we'll, we'll take him for a little while development then, then we'll send them on their way. They can win a Heisman or maybe go to the Final Four. Yeah, Paulie, you were a big page
Paulie (Sports Analyst)
highlight guy back in the sports center day. I think you, I don't know if you called them like, like you said, I'm calling them, but you called a lot of them.
Dan Patrick
I just thought he's an underrated great shooter of all time and he'd be on the wing and he was just a wonderful shooter. Wonderful played with Sacramento. That's probably why he kind of got lost in the shuffle a little bit. And you know, they didn't win the big games, but yeah, he's up there. He's on the short list of greatest shooters of all time. But his son is a physical player. Like, he's not like his dad and his, and Pasha looks like he could still play. It's like he came out of the stands, you know, hug his son. I'm like Pager could probably play for Illinois. Some of those guys on Illinois look like they're Peja's age.
Paulie (Sports Analyst)
Yeah, Paul, he might be underrated as being first generation volume three point shooter. Early in his career, he led the league in three points pointers made twice, attempted twice. This isn't like oh, 3, 04. He finished fourth for the MVP in 2004 with Sacramento.
Dan Patrick
Arizona is going to the final four having made 99 free throws so far in the tournament. That's 39 more than its four opponents have even shot of the day.
Panini America Advertiser
Start of the day. Start of the day. Start of the day. Start of the day. Start of the day. Start of the day. Start of the day.
Dan Patrick
Start of the day. Brought to you by Panini America. You know, Michigan hasn't had necessarily a very good year considering everything that happened with the football team. But the Michigan athletic director is he's going to wrap up Dusty May and he told some people that he is going to make sure his coach spends the rest of his coaching career with Michigan. Done a great job. Can't let him go. And wasn't he a trainer? Assistant manager for Indiana basketball? Yeah, Paulie.
Paulie (Sports Analyst)
Yeah, he was a student assistant for Indiana basketball.
Dan Patrick
Oh, my goodness. Wasn't Lawrence Frank one of those. Yeah, like assistant manager, grad assistant type thing? All right, we touched on Tiger woods just a little bit and he was having a good week because if you go back to Monday, we were talking about, you know, tgl, the finals, and he's going to show up, he's going to take some swings. Now people talking that maybe he's going to try to play at Augusta. So there was some momentum there. Now he didn't play well when he took those nine swings. But you know, he's the focal point of tgl. So it's. Anytime you can see Tiger play in the ratings probably quadrupled just because Tiger was playing in that. Otherwise we're probably not watching. But Tiger's in it. And Rory, you know, those are the headliners here. So he's got this momentum. All right, Tiger getting some swings in. There was a picture of his private jet in Augusta recently that maybe he was going down there, he's going to walk the course, maybe he's going to play a little bit there. Maybe Tiger was going to play in Augusta. And then there was Friday afternoon. All of a sudden you get a report that he's in a car accident. His car rolled over. Well, we know what happened when it rolled over before where he had multiple fractures in his leg. Thought he Might lose his leg. We've had moments, we've had incidents. This one felt a little different from the standpoint of it was two in the afternoon, going through an area where I think the speed limit may have been 25. And car rolled over, got out of the car on his own, and he took a Breathalyzer. He hadn't been drinking, but wasn't going to take a urine test or a blood test. And so they take you into the jail cell. You have to be there for eight hours, and then you start to look at the mug shot and you go, that doesn't look like somebody who, okay, you haven't been drinking, but you don't have anything else in your body. So this, this has been a pattern. And this, this happens. It.
Seth Greenberg
I.
Dan Patrick
It's weird to say in fairness to Tiger, but you have all these surgeries, they give you all these meds. I've had many, many, many surgeries, probably 10. And I do my damnedest knowing my personality. I. I can't take those things because I know, boy, be easy, you know, with my personality, addictive behavior, I could grab that. And I understand that. I have had friends who have had back surgeries, and all of a sudden, you know, they're crunching Percocet. But that, that his body can look like it's ready to go and play in the NFL. But that face that looks like. There's a lot of. A lot of things going on with Tiger. This has been going on for quite some time. You're driving and, you know, once again, when you drink or when you do drugs, you don't think that you're impaired or that somebody's going to notice. Some of the great liars are drinkers, drug addicts. At least they try to lie to you. But Tiger can't lie to himself anymore. People can only say so much or do so much. Maybe his new girlfriend can help him. But, you know, she's got children. Can you imagine if Tiger's driving her children and it's in the afternoon in a neighborhood. That's what was. It's sad, but, you know, he's lucky he hasn't killed somebody, himself included. And you're just, you're watching this and he's such a powerful brand. Everybody wants to tell Tiger what Tiger wants to hear. You surround yourself with people who are, yes, people. But when he was going, leaving the. The jail and they have that picture in the suv, he is just a sad, sad person. But he's got to want to help himself. I mean, that's the first you can. You can say something to somebody having, you know, had a father, went to aa. It took a long, long, long time. And I'm proud that he went, but he went at the end of his life. But he did go. You know, you're just trying to get somebody who can connect with him or go with him, because it's tough to do it alone. But you're watching this unfolding. This is not the way it's supposed to be. But man addiction will touch anybody. It does not discriminate. I don't care how much money. People will say, well, why aren't you d. Got a driver? Well, sometimes you're hiding stuff that you don't want your driver to know, and that appears to be what's going on. But yes. Should he have a driver? Yes. Yeah, Paulie.
Paulie (Sports Analyst)
And there's this entire business around Tiger. He still brings in a lot of money for a lot of people, and it's almost like they want to keep his image as 2007, the greatest golfer on earth, and the illusion that he may golf again someday. It's like his people want to keep that out there, and they go to this TGL thing, or they talk about the Masters, and it doesn't feel like anyone around him is worried about again, we don't know. But if they want to keep the train running, yes. The business train of Tiger is still huge.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. But I don't know what's next for him as a golfer. You know, he still is a brand, but if you're a sponsor, you're going to stay with him as a golfer. Does he want to try to play on the Senior Tour? Does he want to try to play on the regular tour? Masters starts a week from this Thursday, and he's not going to be playing in it, but, man, this is where somebody's got to grab him. Hold on. Don't let go, because we're gonna. We're gonna come in one day, and we're going to be talking about something far more serious with him. Because when I heard that there was a rollover, and I thought, boy, here we go again. But he's lucky. He's lucky. That luck can run out. One moment. If you don't kill yourself, you're going to kill somebody else. All right. Hopefully I didn't sound preachy. You know, I don't have all the answers. I got a lot of questions, but I, I, if, if these people around him, if you love him, man, you got to give some hard, hard, hard advice. You're not going to want to hear it. He's not going to want to believe it. You know, you may. You may run the risk of losing your job or access to Tiger, but you know what? I'd run that risk because I'd hate to be sitting there one day saying, why didn't I say something? But, you know, he might not be charged with anything. You know, hire a great lawyer and. But he's guilty. He's guilty of, once again, driving impaired, bad judgment. It's two in the afternoon. All right. Matt in Ohio. Morning, Matt. What's on your mind today?
Caller Matt
Hey, guys. Sorry you got me a little choked up with the Tiger thing. I've been through the same struggles, and I got a great support group, and hopefully he does as well and can get through that. But the reason I called was I had a best. A request and a question. The best is the boozer kid. Even though they lost him, just being a man like his father, who has great character, just facing music and, you know, it takes a lot of stones. You know, take some stones to do that. I'm sorry. And then their request is. I had asked you this last year. My late dad loved baseball. And I always call in and ask for your strike three call.
Dan Patrick
But before you get out, question it.
Caller Matt
Sorry, I just have one more. No, that's okay.
Dan Patrick
Wait a minute. Abs said it's. It's a. It's a ball. All right. They tap the helmet there. So how can I help you, man?
Caller Matt
Well, the question was, if you're behind the plate, are you just going with, like, the aggressive fist pump? Are you going straight, pulling the lawnmower?
Dan Patrick
I would pull the lawnmower, but I, you know, it depends on, you know, what inning and it, you know, is it a. I don't know, third out of the inning? That Abs, though, I love it. I think it's great. And I think the audience, the crowds are getting into it as well. It'll become a thing. I dress it up. I'd play it up and, you know, tap the helmet. Here we go. Let's see. And it was great. It's fun. Embrace it. Let's see. Lucas in Texas. Hi, Luke. What do you have for me, bud?
Caller Lucas
Morning.
Dan Patrick
Morning.
Caller Lucas
Two things from that game yesterday. First off, again, showing the. The maturity of UConn with a coach that's not going to rush to a timeout. But also the players that don't rush a shot, the moment they get that turnover, they knew how much clock they had left. Making that last pass to the trailing player was a really, really impressive sign of a well coached and a seasoned team. Like you've been saying this morning. The second thing relates to Duke and I'm going to stir the pot a little bit and just keep saying hey, until we see a national championship out of Duke. The true blue blood won yesterday. Let's see something apart from. From Coach K. And then we could say that, you know, Duke is among the elites.
Dan Patrick
Thanks, guys. Yeah, that's fair to say. Marvin will agree with that.
Marvin (Sports Analyst)
Always.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Yukon replacing Duke did it with three coaches. Yeah.
Marvin (Sports Analyst)
We have more national titles than Duke.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Congratulations.
Marvin (Sports Analyst)
No, I was saying. You saying replace him?
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Oh, so not. Okay. All right. You just had some down years, though.
Marvin (Sports Analyst)
Well, that was. That's my. That's always my issue.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Marvin (Sports Analyst)
When they say you kinds of blue blood, I was like, ah. But now with Hurley, they've been consistent the past four or five years because they win a national title and then not make the tournament the next season.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Caller Matt
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Yes. Paul.
Paulie (Sports Analyst)
Duke has five men's national titles in the past 26 years. UConn has six men's national titles in the past 27 years.
Panini America Advertiser
Of the day.
Seth Greenberg
Start of the day, Start of the day.
Panini America Advertiser
Start of the day.
Seth Greenberg
This is the start of the day.
Dan Patrick
Brought to you by Panini America. But this isn't a Duke team that you don't like. You know, the boozers, I mean, they're. It's a nice team. It's just. It's the brand. It's Duke. That's all it is. I mean, it would help if you had a white guy was really good that you hated. I mean, you know, hopefully next year they can go out and get a white guy you can hate. Crossing our fingers that usually, like Zion, we watched. We were, you know, it was like we're seeing something we haven't seen before. Flag. I don't think there was. There was. He was not the polarizing player con. Canipple. People didn't even notice. It's like, dude over there makes some really nice shots, man. Yes, Marv.
Marvin (Sports Analyst)
The last guy that was really hatable was Grayson Allen.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Marvin (Sports Analyst)
And that's maybe what, 10 years ago.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Marvin (Sports Analyst)
They've had a bunch of really good one and done guys. And also they're not there long enough to start. For you to start hating them.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. But, hey, Kaden Boozer man, I give you. I wanted to hug him. He's 18 and the magnitude of that, I can't imagine the moment for him. And it happened so quickly and all of a sudden it's Turnover, Pass, pass, shot. Boom. What just happened? And then you go in not long after that, and you're sitting there, and he answered the questions. His brother is there with him, man. Yeah.
Seaton (Sports Analyst)
And to hear him say, too, sitting there, he's answering the questions, and he just says so matter of factly, I cost my team the season.
Caller Matt
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Play it morbid.
Kaden Boozer
I turned the ball over. I should have been strong with the ball as a concert. Our team, our season.
Medical Expert (likely Erin Welsh or Molly Bloom from 'This Podcast Will Kill You')
What did Coach Sire say before in that timeout before you guys were inbounding the ball there?
Kaden Boozer
I just thought we. We knew that they were gonna trap, just to be sure I was a ball.
Dan Patrick
You know, Coach Greenberg. Seth Greenberg joined us, and he brought up something that I didn't think of, and that is when you're gonna have the ball, if you get trapped, always have somebody behind you. So you. But he was doing one motion where he got the ball and then was trying to throw it because you were gonna get a dunk at the other end. I. I gotta give Connecticut credit with the trap and then the pass, and then the pass back and then the shot. It was textbook. I know we. I know we'll focus on. On Duke and. And the turnover there. What Connecticut did was textbook. You trap their point guard with, you know, tall guys. You get the tip, you get the turnover, you throw it to the guy who just had a 3 and is the guy. You want to have the ball with the game on the line, and he throws it back. Mullins hasn't been hitting shots. He gets a logo 3. And that happens in the blink of an eye. But Connecticut deserves a whole lot of credit. I can put blame on Duke, absolutely. But to have that moment happen, Connecticut has to do everything right. They don't foul. When I thought they were going to foul, they had missed a free throw. Yes, Marv.
Marvin (Sports Analyst)
And the thing about that loss is it's a slow death. So you're. Now you're overthinking. You probably can't sleep. Those guys probably didn't sleep last night because you're like, oh, my gosh. This turnover here, this mislay up here, this file here. And it all just kind of came to a head with that Mullen shot.
Dan Patrick
When we come back, we will give you our best and worst of the weekend. More phone calls as well. Back after this.

We'll get to your phone calls. More of those coming up. Best and worst of the weekend. Todd, I'll start with you.
Seth Greenberg
Best of the weekend.
Todd (Sports Analyst)
The braves were down 2 nothing at home to the Royals on Saturday after a pair of RBI singles in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie to two. DH Dominic Smith steps to the plate, hits a walk off grand slam. Homer Smith, recently lost his mom to cancer. Became the first player in baseball history to hit a walk off grand slam in his debut with a new team. I thought that was a fantastic story over the weekend. Outside of basketball stuff for worst. Purdue had a seven point lead at halftime. Total unraveled a 7:18 five run in the second half by Arizona burned. The Boilermakers Wildcats take it by 15.
Dan Patrick
Seaton. Best and worst.
Seaton (Sports Analyst)
Best of the weekend is the ABS system adding a whole new dynamic to baseball that I don't know that we
Dan Patrick
needed, but it's like a game show
Seaton (Sports Analyst)
or something where all of a sudden they. You see that tag?
Seth Greenberg
Here we go.
Seaton (Sports Analyst)
All right, let's see what happens. Worst of the weekend, umpire CB Buckner, who is apparently the face, the poster boy of, of the ABS system. I think he went six out of eight, got overturned. Yeah, Something that is. I feel bad for the fella. Nobody deserves to wear that. But. And especially because some of the calls that he got wrong, it's like point zero three of an inch or something
Dan Patrick
where you're like, all right, he didn't
Seaton (Sports Analyst)
get it that wrong. You know, she's.
Dan Patrick
He got famous for, you know, something that you don't want to be famous for.
Seaton (Sports Analyst)
All of a sudden that mask flips off. You see him rolling his eyes.
Dan Patrick
Here we go.
Seaton (Sports Analyst)
All right,
Dan Patrick
Marvin. Best and worst of the weekend.
Marvin (Sports Analyst)
I'm gonna show growth. I'm not gonna have any UConn as my best of the weekend because that is just too easy. We've been talking about it all day.
Dan Patrick
It's okay.
Marvin (Sports Analyst)
Best moment of my life. I know not of the weekend. Okay, Best. Best of the weekend for me. Charlie May, the son of Dusty May, the Michigan head coach, hitting the three pointer at the end of their game against Tennessee. That's one of my favorite things about college basketball. Seeing the walk on and seeing the reaction of the starters and the star players just going crazy. I love that because those guys, no offense, are real students and they go with the team and they play and so happy for them. Todd took mine, but Purdue was.
Dan Patrick
No, that was your worst.
Marvin (Sports Analyst)
It was. I thought they played great in the first half and then Arizona just turned it on. I mean, it Was a swarm. It got bad real fast.
Dan Patrick
Paul.
Paulie (Sports Analyst)
Best of the weekend, Yukon guard Silas Demery Jr. Number two, the three, and the tip at the end. Hopefully he gets his due because that set up the play by Mullins. My worst of the weekend. I heard this during the game the other day. I'm like you, Dan. I really enjoy watching Hannah Hidalgo of Notre Dame. Unbelievable guard. And I heard something on the air like, well, that can't be true. The 2026 Women's College Naismith Awards finalist. There's four players, all four very deserving. Hannah Hidalgo is not a finalist for college women's player of the year. She didn't make the top four. I'm shocked by that, and hopefully I'm not biased or anything, but it was shocking to see because if you talk about MVP of a sport or whatever you want to call it, she's it.
Dan Patrick
She's great. And. And what an impressive woman. When we met her at Notre Dame, came on the show, you could tell she's business. She. She's. She's gonna go. She's gonna get after you. Here's Gino Oriemma, UConn head coach, on facing Hannah Hidalgo.
Podcast Host (Aaliyah's Matchup)
You mentioned Hannah. I'm presuming as one of the best point guards in the country, in your view.
Geno Auriemma
Not one of the.
Seth Greenberg
The best.
Geno Auriemma
I think she is the best. You cannot deal with someone that every time you're dribbling the ball, you're. You're more worried about where she is than who you're passing it to. I. I just love watching her. And I asked her after the game if she was old enough to go pro, and she said, no, I want one more shot of you guys.
Dan Patrick
She's a one man press. She really is. If, you know, that's. If you got the ball, throw it to a teammate. Yeah, because she's gonna. She'll get it. She'll get it. She'll steal it. And offensively, she's great as well. Who's the woman at Tennessee that I was texting you about, Marvin?
Marvin (Sports Analyst)
Oh, from Texas.
Dan Patrick
Texas.
Marvin (Sports Analyst)
Oh, Madison Booker.
Dan Patrick Show Announcer
Wow.
Dan Patrick
They should call her Madison Bucket because she. She might be an MVP in the WNBA at some point.
Marvin (Sports Analyst)
She is unbelievable. I mean, she gets her own shot. I mean, it is Maya. More like we're off the dribble. However you want it, she's going to give it to you.
Dan Patrick
Jay in Oregon. Good morning, Jay. What's on your mind today?
Caller Jay
Good morning, fellas. First time, long time, six foot and a sultry 280. Hey, I got a Couple things. First and foremost, I just want to congratulate Marvin and Yukon Huskies on the Final Four. Truly was a fantastic sports moment. My best of the weekend, though, is Gary Woodland went into Houston Open after going through brain surgery just three years ago. I think that's a fantastic sports story and a job well done by him.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I was watching that closing holes there, and you could tell, you know, the emotion was going to hit him because he was suffering from PTSD from brain surgery, didn't know if he would play. His wife encouraged him to get back with his former coach, and it was great to see former college basketball player. Man, didn't we have him on a long time ago? I think he played like Division 3, Division 2, but played against Kansas maybe, but, yeah, ended up winning. Good for him. Wonderful moment. But he, you know, he talked about taking it, you know, one day at a time that he's still recovering from this. Yeah, Paulie. Yeah.
Paulie (Sports Analyst)
Gary Woodland was a basketball player at Washburn University.
Seth Greenberg
Dan.
Dan Patrick
There you go.
Paulie (Sports Analyst)
Good old Wash you. Yeah, and I think they're in Topeka, if I my memory serves. Then he transferred to Kansas and got into golf.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Yeah, but he, you know, he's saying that it's. It's each day. Each day and even said if you know somebody who's struggling, you know, listen to them. And that's after winning a golf tournament. But it was more than that. He won more than just winning a golf tournament. All right, two hours in the books. More of your phone calls coming up. Best and worst of the weekend. What you saw that you liked, you didn't like. We will also have a new poll question as well. It's a great day here on this Monday with Fritzi Seaton, Marv, Paulie, yours truly. Two hours in the books. One more to go.
