I would probably put some money down on Yamamoto, who is going to go in Game 6 if he throws another complete game and sends it to a game seven and maybe wins it three to One doesn't get the offensive support, but, you know, wins the game. Maybe he could be your MVP if the Dodgers would happen to win. If the Blue Jays win, it feels like It's Vlad Guerrero Jr. And rightfully so. He has been unbelievable. And I think we've gotten to the point, if you're the Dodger pitching staff, I would be very careful. I wouldn't be pitching to him. And sometimes you see these pitches and you go, how could you throw that pitch? Now, former pitcher who listens to the show wrote, remain nameless. He'd be like, you make it seem like we know where the ball's going all the time. I said, but you can't make a mistake like that. That. To that guy. You can't make that mistake. You can make mistakes or you can go, man, that's unbelievable. He hit that ball out of the park. It can't be. I'm. I'm. I'm not surprised that he hit the ball out of the ballpark. That was my point to him. And we got back and forth. He goes, oh, yeah, you've thrown off the mound when you throw out a first pitch. I go, I used to deal in high school, man. Don't be telling me that. I don't. I don't pitch from the front of the mound when I throw out the first pitch. But you can't make that mistake that bad. These are professionals. Your job is to not throw it right down the middle of the plate. There's no pitcher who goes, yep, I'm going to throw it right down the middle of the plate. You're always high, low, in, out, brushing back a little, just something. But Blake Snell, when you throw that pitch, and it's like, you deserve that. Yeah.

Paulie (9:38)

Paulie Smoltz was actually talking about that last night. He says pitchers throwing above 95, they're yielding control because of that. I think it's Henriquez, the reliever for The Dodgers. He throws 100 all the time. And it was all over the place last night because he says, you're holding it so tight to throw 100. You're giving up a little bit of control on those pitches.

Dan Patrick (9:57)

Yeah. Yeah, Todd.

Todd (9:59)

I feel like to us, it's a. Looks like an ego thing. Why are you challenging him? Why are you going to let him beat you? But as you were just saying, that's a mistake. That's not where they intended the pitch to go. And, you know, to try to throw it 100 miles an hour from where you're throwing it, from the little Millimeter of a difference is the difference in a strikeout and a home run.

Dan Patrick (10:16)

Yeah, but some of these pitches are right over the plate, and they're going to hit anything. They can hit speed, they can hit 100 miles an hour. They have a hard time when it's moving, when it's down where it's inside, it's outside, it's up. You know, all of those things. But if you throw it right down the middle of the plate, these guys, everybody's going up there to try to hit it out of the park. And you deserve it. Blake Snell deserve that, because those are pitches, those are meatballs, as we like to say. Trey, you savage, you know, you send him out there sometimes what you don't know can make you better. Like, you're in the minors four months ago, and now you're pitching a pivotal game five in the World Series, and you had one of the most impressive performances that we've ever seen. And he struck out 12. I don't think he walked anybody. And when you get guys to swing and miss like that says a lot about your stuff, because you can get guys who take pitches and you're like, okay, that was a good pitch. I get to. I think I'm going to hit you. So. He has 39 strikeouts in the postseason. That breaks the record for a rookie set by the Cardinals, Michael Waka. That was in 2013. He struck out 11 in game two, the ALDS against the Yankees. He had 23 whiffs. So swings and misses. That's the most in the World Series game since they started tracking that in 09. That's when you got great stuff. And I remember Tim Lincecum. It was game five of the 2010 World Series. He had one of those games where 21 whiffs. Justin Verlander had one of those in 2019, game five. But that's when you're striking out 12 over seven innings. Three hits. So the 12 strikeouts, a record for a rookie in the World Series, breaking the old mark of don Newcomb in 1949. 11, 11. Love that number. Thank you, Chad. No, not a good luck. But it's tough, you know, because I remember my wife, we were talking, one of our friends was going bald and she was like, why is it such a big deal to guys? I said, it's a huge deal to guys. Yeah, loosen your hair. When you have a good head of hair and all of a sudden you realize, I'm going to hold on to this for dear life, then what do you do? You get a toupee? Do you do some of those. Whatever those drugs that you can take that's going to grow it. Transplants in. Thank God I don't have to worry about it. Yes, Paulie.

And if it's after 40, it's kind of assumed. Or it could be hereditary. But I knew a guy in college who was losing his hair at 21. I mean, it was going bad fast. He looked about 36 years old as a senior in college. And that's not fair to anybody.

Dan Patrick (14:44)

I work with somebody at the mothership who wasn't on the air and he was going gray at like 26. And I remember him saying, you think I should diet? I go, no, no, no. Women will love that.

Seaton (14:58)

Losing weight's not going to help your hair anyway.

The executive producer for Sandler One time I was doing the 6 o' clock sports center, and I was dyeing my hair, coloring my hair, and he text me during the show, and he said. He just put D Y e. That was it. Jack Garaputo.

No, it wasn't. Because, you know, if you're trying to do it with these new TVs, as good as they are, you can't hide anything.

Seaton (15:41)

That's a fella not scared of sharing an opinion, too.

Jack G. He'll. He'll tell you things you don't want to hear.

For sure. Yes. But he's. He's been with Sandman all those movies for decades. Yeah. He would tell you. He would tell you because, you know, I would say, hey, how was my performance? He goes, it's okay. It's just okay. You're not an actor. And I go, okay. Oh, yeah.

Seaton (16:04)

See, he is the guy when we were shooting. That's my boy. And he said, if you see me, that means things are going very poorly. And we're like, okay, all right. No problem. So he was. And he was being nice. He was trying to, like, be like, hey, hype us up. But, like, if you see me, then things are going very, very bad. And we did exactly one take that lasted about 20 seconds, and he came flying out from behind the thing.

Todd (16:26)

That was not fun.

Dan Patrick (16:27)

He said, fritzi, you're terrible.

Todd (16:30)

All I had to do was point the camera in the direction of where the action was, and somehow I had it on some kind of slant.

Dan Patrick (16:36)

Well, you were.

Todd (16:36)

You.

Dan Patrick (16:37)

You weren't even focusing on what you were seeing. He said, hey, focus the camera on, you know, Susan Sarandon and Sandman.

Todd (16:46)

I think I got caught up in the moment when he goes, actually, I'm like. I think that's Rachel Dretch back there. And I'm like, that's not what you're supposed to be looking at. You got to look forward. Pretend you're an actual camera person.

Dan Patrick (16:54)

So that's the first scene that we have in the prison. First scene or first time we're doing it, first take, and all of a sudden, I see Jack Garaputo run out from. You know, so my side, my peripheral vision, I go, oh, no. And I didn't know what we did wrong. And all of a sudden, he yells at Fritzi. Now everybody's there. So you got Sandman, Andy Samberg, you got Susan Sarandon. They're all there. Like, these are real actors.

Todd (17:20)

I was gonna divert his attention Line. I just need a line. Where's my line?

Dan Patrick (17:23)

And then have lines. He gave Todd one thing to do. That was it point the camera at where the action is.

Todd (17:31)

Seems fairly simple.

Dan Patrick (17:32)

Yes. And you got yelled at.

Found a way to make it extremely complicated.

There are moments though where you go, are we fooling anybody? Does Andy Samberg know? Because he even said. He goes, hey, you're good at this. And I go, well, thanks. He goes, no, I'm surprised. I said, you have every right to be surprised. Yes, Paulie.

Paulie (18:02)

So we're extras in this movie and we're not supposed to do much. We're not supposed to talk or interact because we gotta be low key. But in between one of the shots, I'm sitting there with Seaton. Andy Sandler stand there and there's a lot of downtime. And he just turns to us, he goes, what do you think of the Knicks this year? They gonna be any good? He's just chit chatting to fill time. And we're being civil. We're just like, yeah, well, they're pretty good team. And Susan Sarandon, the actress, is looking at us like, why are the two extras talking to the star?

Dan Patrick (18:28)

She had no idea who I was.

Paulie (18:30)

Less than none.

Dan Patrick (18:32)

No idea what was going on. And there was this awkward moment where she's on the other side of the glass. So we're in a prison and Sandman was going to be talking to her through the glass. And I just remember it was me and Susan Sarandon and nobody else. And there was silence. I didn't know what to say. And she certainly had nothing to say to me. Yes.

Seaton (18:58)

I have never seen anyone better at avoiding eye contact than Susan Sarandon. With dozens of people than Susan Sarandon. Because she, you know, she is someone that when she is in a room, you notice her.

Dan Patrick (19:12)

Yes, you do.

Seaton (19:12)

She was spectacular. And I was definitely staring at her for sure. And she did such a remarkable job of not making contact with anybody, let alone me. She must be used to that.

Todd (19:25)

Yes, Todd, I was hoping when I saw that too, that she was just super focused on her craft as opposed to being like one of those, you can't look at her right in the eye. And like, you get these you things about agent publishers saying you can't look at her or talk to her or approach this person.

Dan Patrick (19:37)

Well, she wasn't not nice.

Seaton (19:39)

Yeah, she didn't, like we didn't get any heads up like that. She wasn't being rude. She just wasn't going to indulge me and staring at her.

Dan Patrick (19:46)

And Sandler thinks everybody knows everybody. And you know that of course Susan surrounded would know, you know, you guys. And she had no idea. And I had, I had no game to just say hey and then what am I gonna. I loved you in Bull Durham. I thought you deserved it. Now I did say this later and she said that's very sweet of you because I said you deserved an Academy Award nomination for Bull Durham. You were unbelievable. And she said, that's very sweet. And then that was, There wasn't anything. It's not bad.

Todd (20:22)

I, I, I thought it was a great line. Like I thought because I really feel that whenever Costner, I see him, I always say, God, Sarandon was so great in Bull Durham.

Paulie (20:34)

You should tell Costner he was great in Bull Durham. He was, yeah. But back when he was a good actor, apparently peak of his career. Yes.

That's actually the trick though is acting like they should know you. Like somebody like Susan Sarandon or whatever. It's like, oh, yeah, like no, yeah, you're supposed to know me. That's why this person is introducing you. So it's actually on you for not knowing me.

Like, like one time I was at a Super bowl party and Chrissy Teigen and John Legend walked by and Chrissy Teigen gave me a big hug and then she turned and she went, kim, you know Seaton, right? And it was Kim Kardashian. And I was like, hey, what's up, Kim? How you doing? And she's like, hey, no idea, obviously. Why in the world would she know? But Chrissy Teigen was like, kim, you know Seaton, right?

And then the other quick thing is I think your retirement, you're hooked into Peacock, all the Law and order shows. You're going to be a judge. And the script is pretty easy. Overruled. Sustained. I would actually like to walk that they would show me walking off this set to get to the other set for, you know, the crossover. That I would walk right at like, you know, 8, 59, 50. Then he'll be in Tennessee. It'll be the Titans and the Chargers kicking off at 1 Eastern. Busy man. Let me start with tonight, Ross. Ravens favored by seven and a half. That number surprise you at all?

Ross Tucker (31:58)

A little bit. A little bit. It does. I'll tell you why. A couple different reasons. Number one, the Dolphins looked really good on Sunday. And I don't know if that had more to do with the Dolphins or the Falcons just laying an egg. But you still had a team on the road against a decent opponent in the Falcons, and the Dolphins took him to the woodshed. Now they're playing at home on a Thursday night. And think about what we've seen in recent weeks from some of these road teams on Thursday nights. It hasn't been pretty. You know, the Steelers defense a couple weeks ago against the Bengals, they weren't able to hold up. You know, we've seen a lot of weeks now where the Road team on these short weeks has not been up to it. The Vikings last week against the Chargers. I called that game for Western 1. That was a disaster. And then the Lamar Jackson factor. Dan, I know he's playing. I know that's why the Ravens are big favorites. But he wasn't healthy enough to play four days ago. They didn't play him four days ago in a game they desperately needed. So you just wonder, you know, is he a hundred percent? Can he be full throttle with that hamstring? So it does surprise me a little bit. Yeah.

Dan Patrick (33:13)

Can Mike McDaniel win his way out of this mess and save his job?

Ross Tucker (33:19)

I doubt it. I mean, I, I, he can, you know, if they went out the rest of the season, sure do. I think that's going to happen. No, I, I think it's surprising that they were able to play as well as they did against the Falcons. I got to be honest with you, Dan, I, I kind of thought, I don't want to say that those guys had packed it in, but I kind of thought the Dolphins number one were going to be sellers at the trade deadline, and they still might be with edge rushers like Jalen Phillips or Bradley Chubb. But also, it felt like everybody knew that Mike McDaniel was getting fired and that Steven Ross just wasn't doing it because he didn't want to take the chance that an interim head coach would have a lot of success and that they would feel compelled to hire him. But it kind of felt like Mike McDaniel was a dead man walking. He probably still is. So kudos to the Dolphins players and leaders for the way they played on Sunday. I mean, they fought for him if that's why they were playing. And I guess, you know, they still are keeping this thing alive if they can get some momentum. I doubt it, but we'll find out.

Dan Patrick (34:26)

The Falcons and I've used this comparison, and maybe it's unfair, but they're kind of the Chargers of the east coast or the south, where we, every year we go, man, they got weapons, man, they're going to be good. Now, I know the Chargers have had injuries, but I don't, I mean, how do you explain the Falcons?

Ross Tucker (34:45)

I can't, I can't. I mean, they lost 30 to nothing to the Carolina Panthers earlier in the year. You know, Dan, I have a betting podcast, the Even Money Betting podcast. The Falcons are banned. They're on my band list now. Okay. Every time I'm like, okay, I start to believe in the Falcons, and I, and I place a Bet on them on the show, they end up totally laying an egg out of nowhere that you're not expecting. So they're on the band list. You know what I really don't understand? If you ask the running backs around the NFL and look, Jonathan Taylor's having an amazing year, but you talk with, like, Saquon and some of these guys, they are blown away by Bijan Robinson. That should be the focal point of the Falcons offense every week. It. They should do with Bijan what Kyle Shanahan does with Christian McCaffrey. And yet there will be these games like this past Sunday. Where would Bijan have get the ball seven times in the game? I mean, that should just never, ever happen. And I don't know how the Falcons allow it to.

Dan Patrick (35:54)

All right, you got the Chiefs against the Bills. And I know we want to make this a rivalry. It was kind of like the Red Sox and Yankees many, many years ago when the Yankees kept beating the Red Sox. And I said, it's not a rivalry until the Red Sox win. Buffalo can win the regular season, but this isn't a rivalry until you win in the postseason, in my opinion. You agree?

Ross Tucker (36:16)

I do agree. You know, it reminds me of when I was playing, Dan. This is Peyton Manning and the Colts against Tom Brady and the Patriots.

Dan Patrick (36:26)

They.

Ross Tucker (36:26)

They could not get over the hump. They would, you know, the Colts would win the regular season matchup sometimes, but then in the playoffs when it mattered, New England would just always find a way to get it done. And it looked like that was going to be the case in the 2006 AFC Championship game. And then the Colts said enough was enough and they made enough plays to win that game and then go on to win the Super Bowl. I thought maybe that would be the case with the Bills in the postseason last year. I thought it was a great opportunity. They weren't able to do it, you know, and on some token, you know, do you know the Bills have beaten the Chiefs in the regular season every year but one, and then the Chiefs beat the Bills in the playoffs. So on the one hand, Dan, I think some Bills fans probably look at it and say, you know what? I'd rather lose to him in the regular season. Give us a better chance in the playoffs. The problem with that is the Bills now have competition in their own division. They haven't had it in a while, and now they're going to be fighting, you know, tooth and nail to the death now against the New England Patriots. So they. They can't afford to lose this game. And Say we'll beat him in the playoffs. You lose this game. Now you're looking up even further at the Patriots in the standings.

Dan Patrick (37:42)

Then you get on a flight and you go to Tennessee for the Titans and the Chargers. I've said this. I'm kind of on the warpath with this. If Cam Ward had a better social following, you know, like, if he was more popular, I think people would be talking more about how bad he's played, sort of like they did with Caleb Williams, because Caleb Williams had a. You know, he got clicks. Cam Ward doesn't get clicks, but he's the number one overall pick in the draft. And I find that interesting, that if. If Caleb Williams was in Tennessee and was having these numbers, we'd be crushing Caleb Williams. We don't even talk about Cam Ward or the Titans. Why?

Ross Tucker (38:36)

You know, I don't know the answer to that, but I wonder that myself. I think a big part of it. He was really only on the college football scene for one year. You know, what he did at Incarnate Word. Nobody even knew about what he did at Washington State. You know, people really weren't paying attention. Most people didn't know who Cam Ward was until he was playing last year for the Miami Hurricanes. Whereas Caleb Williams was the number one high school player in the country. He made a bunch of plays as a true freshman in Oklahoma, including in the game against Texas. Then he goes to usc, wins the Heisman, his second year, is the presumptive number one pick. Even Shador Sanders got a lot more attention and a lot more clicks than Cam Ward. He's just kind of been under the radar. And then he didn't go to a big market team. He didn't go to the Bears or an LA team or the Giants or the Jets. He went to the Titans. He had this combination of a guy that's been overshadowed in college by the Caleb Williams and Jaden Daniels and even Shador Sanders. And then he goes to a team that's not good at all in one of the smallest markets in the NFL, you know, and people don't talk about it much. And I think that's why it's going under the radar. What I don't know, and I'm curious about, is if we had flipped Caleb Williams and Cam Ward. So Cam Ward's in a major market like Chicago. Caleb Williams is in Tennessee, certainly it would, there would be a little bit closer, but I still don't know how.

Dan Patrick (40:17)

Much the Lions got that blueprint of, you know, they're, they're signing up people before it's time for, you know, that bill to be paid. They, they've done that with golf, they did that, that with Penny Sewell, they do that with Aiden Hutchinson here. That's a big number for Aiden Hutchinson. That catch your attention?

Ross Tucker (40:40)

It's a huge number. Two things caught my attention. Number one, this is very rare in the NFL. He benefited from getting hurt.

Todd (40:50)

He did.

Ross Tucker (40:51)

Because if, if Hutchinson doesn't get hurt, Dan, they sign him shortly after the season because he's after his third year, so they can give him an extension and that's what they've been doing with these core guys that they really like, and rightfully so. But because he got hurt, I think they wanted to see how he came back from injury. They wanted to wait a little bit. Well, in the meantime, Crosby got a new deal, Miles Garrett got a new deal, TJ Watt got a new deal, and then Micah Parsons at the bar, really high. So Hutchinson is one of the only guys I've ever seen that benefited from a really bad injury. As in terms of the way the Lions are going about it, they're getting a lot of credit for it, Dan. It's the Eagles model. The Eagles basically invented this, which is as soon as, you know one of the guys you drafted is a core guy that you want around for the long term, you sign him as soon as possible because then you spread the cap pain over the entire length of the deal. So let's talk about Hutchinson, right? He has half a year left. On the fourth year of his rookie deal, they had already picked up his fifth year option. So then you tag on those four years he just signed to years 6, 7, 8 and 9, right? So this, it's a big number, but the campaign will be spread out over five and a half years, including the big signing bonus now, as opposed to just the four year extension. It makes it a lot easier to have a lot of talented guys on your roster. It's why the Bengals and the Cowboys keep screwing up and have all these type of cap issues. And why teams like the Eagles and the Lions, they get way ahead of it. Now the negative is if those guys start to get hurt or those guys start to play poorly, you're stuck. Because you prorated so much of that money out over future years.

Dan Patrick (42:57)

You cover college football. Leave you with this. The Louisiana governor, Jeff Landry told reporters yesterday that LSU athletic director Scott Woodward would not be involved in the coaching search and saying that he would let President Donald Trump do it before the athletic director. What could go wrong in this situation? Ross?

Ross Tucker (43:19)

I mean, this is why college football, especially in the south, is so amazing because I do think it is the case. I don't know exactly the inner workings, Dan, but I do think it is the case at a state university that ultimately the governor oversees it. I know like in Pennsylvania, where I reside, the governor is able to allocate three or five spots to the board at Penn State. So I don't, I don't know exactly the dynamic between the president, university and the governor of a state. But that is amazing. I mean, if you're publicly saying that the ad is not going to pick the football coach, that reminds me of like the movie Office Space, like the, like the consultants need to come in, talk to the ad. What, what is it would you say that you do here?

Dan Patrick (44:09)

Like, if you don't pick, if you.

Ross Tucker (44:11)

Don'T pick the football coach, you might as well just fire the ad. I don't even know what he's doing anymore if he's not the guy picking the football coach.
