You are listening to the Dan Patrick show on Fox Sports Radio. Thought it was just going to be a normal Tuesday in March. Whoa. Thought we'd get second tier free agent signings. It'd be the Celtics against the spurs. Would be the headliner. Then all of a sudden, Max Crosby sent back to Las Vegas. And then all of a sudden, bam. Out of Bio goes for 83. And then the cute little matchup between Team USA and Italy. The World Baseball Classic. And it starts out eight. Nothing Italy. And they end up holding on to win it 8 to 6. Wow. That's what we love about this. Every single day, every single night. Might see something that you've never seen before. All right. 8773-DP-SHoM email address dpdanpatrick.com Twitter handle At DP show you had Hofstra, Wright, State, Raiders, Gonzaga, Sienna all punching their ticket to the big dance. Coming up in about 20 minutes, Diana Rossini. She does the Scoop City podcast. She is a NFL insider for the Athletic. She is on the phone or got off the phone with Max Crosby. She'll join us and talk about what is next for Max Crosby and the Raiders. That'll be coming up here in a little bit. The Ravens, if you're just joining us, returning Max Crosby because they said that long term durability concerns with his knee and they went out and signed Trey Hendrickson of the Cincinnati Bengals a four year deal for $112 million. 8773 DP show operator standing by. Tyler, take your phone call. Stat of the day brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show. Good morning. If you're watching the program, whether on Peacock or NBC Sports Network, let's clean up the poll questions from the first two hours of the program and then what's the poll question for the final hour on this award nominated program? Seaton. More surprising, the Crosby trade off. Bam. Dropping 83 or Italy over the United States right now. Bam. Putting up 83 is leading that one by a significant margin. Would you consider Marcus Smart a gritty, gutty player? 56% said yes. And then would you consider Jimmy Butler a gritty, gutty player? 52% say yes. All right, Mike in Oregon on that topic. Hi Mike. What's on your mind?
Marvin
AP first time, long time. 5:10, 185. Hey, back to mark point. I think if you go back to Bill Walton's old teammate Maurice Lucas, there's their power forward, gritty and getty.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Marvin
All right.
Dan Patrick
I won't argue with that. Certainly wouldn't argue that with Maurice Lucas. By the way, one of the true tough guys. Everybody was afraid of Maurice Lucas back in the day. Rory McElroy looks to defend his Players Championship title against Scotty Scheffler and the strongest field in golf at the TPC Sawgrass Players Championship March 14th and 15th on NBC. And Peacock, I'm looking at the odds for the Players Championship. Scotty Scheffler is an overwhelming favorite. Plus 435 for Scotty Scheffler. Next is Rory McElroy at plus 1475. Then Colin Morikawa and then Si Woo Kim and then Tommy Fleetwood. Scotty Scheffler who's had a hard time getting off to good starts. He usually has good finishes, but he is an overwhelming favor. Mark in South Carolina. Good morning, Mark. What's on your mind today?
Marvin
Good morning, Ben. Thank you for taking my call. I just would like everyone to slow down on the band breaking the record. As a fan of your show, we all want you guys to win a sports Emmy, either this year or next. And if you guys happen to win a sports emmy, we don't want people calling in saying, oh, that's not. They dethrone Bob Costas or they dethrone Rick Eisen or they got Paulie on the team. You know, that's not fair. We want to celebrate victories, and we want to celebrate wins, and it's harder to not score 83 than it is to score 83. So that should be, again, like you've been saying all morning, not be taken away from what happened.
Dan Patrick
That's what I've been saying. It's still 83. You can say it's a young Wizards team. You could question the coaching philosophy. With Eric Spoelstra leaving him in the game, should he have taken himself out in respect to Kobe Bryant? It's just. It's just a game. I mean, he had a game. A game for the ages. Kobe's not defined by 81. Kobe's so much more than that. This might be what Bam Adebayo is defined by, that he's the guy who put up 83 and dates Asia Wilson. I mean, he's had a really good career, but not a really good scoring career. I think that's what bothers people. If Luca did this or Devin Booker, I mean, you could run down the list of players, you'd be like, okay, all right. But the fact that it's Bam out of bio, and you probably can't recall any offensive highlight that he's ever had. He just a really good player. Really good bit player. Isn't it weird? Of all the jerseys, when the Danettes were at the Miami Heat and they said, hey, do you want an autographed jersey? And I said, yeah, we'll take Bam out of bio. And so he signed the jersey. I've had it hanging out there with Tyler, taking phone calls, and it's been in that room there, and all of a sudden it's like, Seaton's got it right, right by him. Yes. The Heat team doctor is an awesome dude. Really, really good guy. He came through with a lot of that stuff. Yeah. Yeah. He's the one that said, who do you Want? Yeah, Dan, Ed said we'll take Bam out of bio. Yeah, he's a good dude. Yeah, Paulie.
Stephanie Young
And.
Paulie
And if you would have asked a year ago, hey, a Heat player is going to set a scoring record or score over 70, you'd have picked Tyler Hero in this NBA. Tyler's a shooter. He's had.
Marvin
Sure.
Paulie
He's had a bunch of 40, 50, maybe a couple 50 point games.
Dan Patrick
What. What do you think the over under will be for Bam Adebayo's next game? They play against Milwaukee. We should be able to find the over under, see if Dylan can work on that. I'm going to say 22 and a half. I mean, I'm going to set it at 22 and a half. We'll try to find that. Yeah. Paul.
Paulie
So you're ignoring the game because he averages 22.1 per game or. No, he has a little less than that. He averages, I'm sorry, 17 and a half per game.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. So you're going a little high. Yeah. You know, I think there'll be just maybe a little kick there. Maybe you'll feel like he needs to score a little bit more. What if he sits out and just says, I feel like you got to give him the night off? Yeah, I feel like you got to give him the night off. That would be bad. That'd be bad. Nothing more NBA than that, really. Hey, let's go out there and cheer Bam out of. Wait, he load management. Yes.
Marvin
You have to score at least what, the next game after scoring 83 for people not to say was some kind of weird fluke, which obviously scoring 80 points is a crazy thing to do.
Dan Patrick
Well, check and see what Wilt did after that game. Check what Kobe did after his 81 point performance. They probably didn't go crazy. Although Wilt. Wilt probably, you know, had 50. I. I took it easy. I only had 50 tonight and I
Marvin
had 83 and a half too on
Dan Patrick
that and just missed. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Had the over. Yes. Marvin.
Marvin
What was a casual night for Wilt Chamberlain that season that he averaged 50 and he had the 100 point game during that season. What's a cat? What's a. The low like, man, I don't.
Dan Patrick
I'm guessing a casual night's 50. That's his average. Like he. If he had a bad game, he might have had 40. Yeah, but he's playing against plumbers and electricians. Yeah. Essentially the whole thing was they threw it down low and he just held his hands up, his arms up, and then turned and Put it into the
Marvin
basket and he did that.
Dan Patrick
If you look at the Knicks centers in that game, I don't think it's hall of Fame worthy. Like, if we want to look at rosters here. Just saying. Just without saying, yeah, Paul, Kobe Bryant
Paulie
had 81 in late April of 06. I'm sorry, late January of 06. But that month he was on a heater. He had 48, 50, 45, 41, 51 in some of the games leading up to it. Yes, he was on an absolute heater.
Dan Patrick
He was.
Paulie
He had 62 the month before, so it was not an anomaly. He goes 81, but then over the next week, he went 30, 39, 40.
Dan Patrick
Cooled off a little bit. Yes, Todd, I'm seeing Wilt 58, Kobe
Marvin
28 in their games after their 181.
Dan Patrick
I'm trying to see other stories on
Marvin
that, but that's what I've seen so far.
Dan Patrick
Okay, a couple more phone calls. Rhonda in Texas. Hi, Rhonda. What's on your mind?
Marvin
Good morning, Dan. Thank you. I love your show. Just wanted to say I appreciate the J. Jacks interview this morning. There was a lot of pressure on Bam last night to score more than 81 points, including making each of those free throw shots. And I'm thinking about today's greats that miss free throw shots. So Bam made those shots under extreme pressure. He scored 83 points, and he deserves all the credit. And the best part of the game came after the game when Bam searched out his mom and they exchanged the warmest hugs ever. So congratulations to Bam's proud mom, too. Thanks, Dan.
Dan Patrick
Thank. Thank you, Rhonda. Thank you for the phone call. Brandon in Utah. Hi, Brandon. Hey.
Marvin
Hey, Dan. This is a third time. Long time. Just wanted to say, you know, this is another opportunity to not only congratulations to Bam, but also to Wilt Chamberlain. You know, people talk about him as if he didn't exist. We often overlook everything he did due to who he played against. But if you look at the delta between Wilt and all the rest of the players of his era, especially during that 50 point average season, he surpassed everyone in terms of compared to people of his own era. So I think we can look at him and within his own time and just really give him the credit that he deserves. And this is another, you know, chance to do that.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, we just don't do it because we look at it, it was a different era, but we don't do that to Babe Ruth. There was no integration when Babe was doing what he was doing. But we still honor those numbers. With Wilt, it's just this statistical sideshow of, oh, okay, they don't even know how many shots he blocked. In games you have modern day, there are games where people who were there said that wilt blocked over 20 shots. We think if you block four or five shots in a game, you can be defensive player of the year. Wilt was blocking, you know, upwards of 10 to 15, probably a night. Yes, Marvin.
Marvin
Before Michael Jordan, was Wilt Chamberlain regarded as the greatest player ever?
Dan Patrick
No. Bill Russell. Yeah.
Marvin
See, that's another reason, like his main adversary won 11 titles on his watch. I think that's the big thing, because we talk about championships with NBA players. We don't know how many World Series Babe Ruth has. Because baseball is a numbers game. Yeah, but it's about individual. Correct.
Dan Patrick
Yes, yes, yes, yes. But it's. You know, I. Why isn't Bill Russell the greatest player of all time if it's just about championships? Because we do that with Michael and LeBron, where LeBron statistically has had a better career than Mike, but Mike won six titles, didn't lose anything. Wilt Chamberlain statistically far more dominating than Bill Russell, but Bill Russell won 11 titles. We kind of pick and choose. Look, when I saw Wilt play, he was a defensive guy rebounding in defense, so he wasn't a scorer. And I got to see him in Cincinnati and the Royals actually beat the Lakers. But he was there to rebound and play defense because he knew they had really good offensive team and went on to win 33 in a row and won an NBA championship.
Paulie
Yes, Paulie, I went back and looked. When Cal Ripken Jr. Broke Lou Gehrig's consecutive game record, I think that was 95. I found three or four articles that called for Cal Ripken, after tying the record, to sit the next game so they'd be tied forever to protect Lou Gehrig's place in history. And these are from one was from a Baltimore columnist.
Dan Patrick
Also, a lot of people may not realize that Lou Gehrig did this when he was sick. He had this consecutive streak, 21:30. And he was sick at the time when he was doing it at the end of his career. And I think that maybe people look at that and say he would have had a longer streak. But I. But, you know, I still look at what Cal did, and it's remarkable. I mean, nobody will ever come close to that because load management, it's accepted. Cal played. You're supposed to play. He went out there every night. Same with Lou Gehrig. Yes. But what we're talking about today with Bam and Colby is that Cal Ripken should have stopped at, you know, know, 1306 to not pass Everett Scott at second place. Exactly. That's the difference. It's like, hold on a minute. I mean, Everett did that back in the 1910s, 1920s. What stop at 1307. So you guys are tied. I would want. Now, I, I held the record for sports centers over 2000. I never thought, oh, is somebody going to stop and not surpass me at Sports Center? I mean, in. In my little small world. You didn't ever think of it? No. Are you. You never thought of it? No, No. I didn't think anybody would stay there long enough to put up 2000. And Linda cone blew by that. Sorry. Yes, Paul.
Paulie
And you wanted her to tap out of the. After the one she tied you.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, it'd been nice. If she said, I'm not gonna do SportsCenter, I might have the record for the 11 o' clock sports center. Checking, technically, Lou Gehrig of Sports Centers. Thank you. She's Cal Ripken. Yeah. She should have stopped out of respect for me. Flying by a dp. Yes. Take that. All right, let's take a break. Diana Rossini, she's. She's an insider. She's gonna have the inside scoop. And talking to Max Crosby this morning. She will join us next. We're back after this Dan Patrick Show. I know Bam Adebayo was the big winner last night. You know who else was? Jalen Rose. He doesn't have to hear about guarding Kobe and Kobe getting 81. And that great commercial that they did when Kobe said that he would take 81 olives in his martini. I don't. I don't know who the Jalen Rose of the Wizards was last night. I don't know who was. Who's going to own up to guarding or trying to guard Bam out of bio, Marvin?
Marvin
I don't know. But the issue is there was nobody that famous like Chris Bosh played for the Raptors and Jalen Rose played for the Raptors. Yeah, there was guys that we knew. We don't know anybody on this Wizards team.
Dan Patrick
Diana Rossini's been very busy this morning. Senior NFL insider for the Athletic and co host of the Athletic Scoop City podcast with Chase Daniel. What can you tell us today that we didn't know yesterday about this Max Crosby situation?
Stephanie Young
Well, we're still learning lots of facts as this has been really the biggest story in sports, because you just don't see this a lot. And from what I gathered over the last 12 hours, we'll call it 14 hours now, max Crosby was. Was in Baltimore for a physical. Right. The Baltimore Ravens had done their research. They've done their work on his medicals. All teams do that. In fact, other teams that were trying to trade for Max had conversations with his surgeon. They had conversations with the Raiders doctors to basically try to get an idea of where Max's knee was at. So Baltimore knew the exact timeline of where Max was at in terms of the return and the rehab process. And six months appears to be kind of like the timeline of when he could be a full go. And so when he went in for his physical, from. From what I've learned, things just seemed really off in the building all day, that something wasn't. Wasn't right. And he had his physical, and the Raven's doctors looked at the mri, and then they had four or five independent doctors take a look at it as well. And together they made the decision that this trade was not worth it, based on what they discovered in his knee. And I think the way they view it is, in the short term, Max would be fine for 27. He would have been okay. The long term was their hang up, and that was the problem. And that's when they made the decision, and they sat Max Crosby down in their offices and said, look, thank you for flying out here. Thank you for saying your farewell, goodbye. Not sure if we're going to, you know, we're doing the right thing here, but we believe we are, and this trade is off the table. So now Max is back in the facility today. He's under contract with the Raiders. He's doing what he does all the time, which is work out and try to get that knee ready to go. And I think there's a good chance that Max Crosby is a reader for 2027.
Dan Patrick
I just wonder if there was buyer remorse with this. Diana, where the Ravens don't give up draft picks. They don't draft in the top 15. Now all of a sudden you're giving up two. Maybe you realize, you know, we could get Trey Hendrickson and not give up all of this. Yeah. I don't mean to be cynical about the medical.
Stephanie Young
You're not being cynical. This thing stakes. What are you talking about? You're spot on. There's 100% shadiness going down right now. And the reason why I say that so firmly is because I've had so many conversations with people around football who understand where Max is at with his knee. Nothing was surprising. And this trade wasn't really about what Max was going to be able to do for the Baltimore Ravens in 2013. 30, 2029. Right. This is about 2027. So let's just say they look at this MRI and the knee is a disaster compared to the way you, you know, projected it to be, because teams do do that, too. I had a general manager this morning Explain to me just going through their process of what they do and, and team doctors do this, they go, okay, this is what the knee looks like, this is what we're giving it in terms of, of length when it will become a problem, when this will bubble up. And, and, and the Baltimore Ravens had that information and for them, they didn't feel that this need would hold up for the long term. So I just think with the Trey Hendrickson situation out there and him holding off waiting for the numbers that he was looking for, I think the Baltimore Ravens, who already did a move that, that they don't normally do, you've got to have a certain type of philosophy and stomach to give away two first round picks for a soon to be 29 year old pass rusher. And I think after the last few days they sat there and go, you know what? We lost eight players to the New York Giants. We lost Tyler Linderbaum, like we need more. And they made the decision to go aggressive and they were able to secure Trey Hendrickson last night.
Dan Patrick
Feels like a convenient failed physical to me. Is that a nice way of putting it?
Stephanie Young
Yeah, I think it's, I think there was definitely things that they saw on the MRI that they weren't thrilled about, but I think most around the league are looking at what the Ravens just did. They're certainly frowning upon it there. Everyone's got strong opinions about it. I don't really think it's going to change anything. It doesn't mean that no one's going to do business with the Baltimore Ravens if next year Lamar Jackson says he wants out, you know, I don't think that's going to change. People are still going to deal with them. But look, this stuff happens, you know, and they have every right because this was all a hypothetical trade essentially. Right. Because it really doesn't become official until 4 o' clock today anyways. So. Okay, they have the right to do it and they did it.
Dan Patrick
Could the Cowboys rescind the offer to Rashawn Gary and engage re. Engage with the Raiders for Max Crosby if they do it before 4:00 clock today?
Stephanie Young
Yeah, they absolutely can because nothing's, nothing is official yet. But most organizations don't want to do business that way. Most don't want to have the, the kickback that we're seeing right now around Baltimore. And look, they can't come out and say anything. I think they, a lot of people are wondering why aren't they putting out a statement? Why aren't they talking to one of us to say here's what happened. According to them, they can't speak on medical right now. Max Crosby was never their player. He was never a Baltimore Raven. He was just there to go through the process of the physical before they signed the paperwork and made this thing official. So now Vegas is sitting there and of course they're hoping teams call, but from what I understand, they're not moving off the two first round asking price that they have. Like they're sticking with that and, and I, I see the way this is going to play out. At least this is how I think it will go. I think Max will be, you know, play out the 27 year. He's only 29. And I bet you we're doing this story next year, we're just gonna run this whole thing back.
Dan Patrick
Max's reaction to this, of being told face to face that go back to the Raiders when he thought he was done with the Raiders.
Stephanie Young
Well, just think about what that's like for him and his family. You say your goodbye, you do the messaging. You're. You've already moved on mentally from playing with the Raiders, which I don't believe was easy for him either. I know it didn't work out well at the end of the season. He obviously had issues with the way they managed him in regard to his injury. He wanted to continue playing. He didn't want to be shut down. They of course didn't want him to be out on the field because of the knee. But also they wanted to secure this number one overall pick, which they got. So now look, we've all been, we've all watched Max Crosby. He shares so much of his life on social media. We see him in a lot of interviews. I don't think this is somebody who is going to just be so frustrated and angry by the situation and, and declare that he's not going to play for the Raiders. This is someone that's just going to probably be. I had one person in football reach out over text of like I am frightened for whoever's got a lineup against Max Crosby this season. Like the chip he's going to have on his shoulder to shove it back to the Baltimore Ravens. But also I think there's probably just embarrassment here a bit, you know, of. I can't believe I just went through all this. I just got on a jet, flew to Baltimore with my family, spent the day with the team and it just doesn't. It doesn't work out. So I.
Dan Patrick
When did they engage with Trey Hendrickson, do you think? Like this?
Stephanie Young
Pretty quick turnaround yesterday they had conversations with Trey Hendrickson over the phone. They spoke with him because you know how now the teams can have these conversations with free agents.
Dan Patrick
They spoke before or after Max Crosby decision?
Stephanie Young
I don't know when they. I know they inform Max later in the afternoon because I was talking to some people in the building when I started to get texts that something was going on. Which by the way, like, you want to trust your instincts in these situations. That was not what I thought that was like when I heard something was going on, you know, I'm thinking like, mars deal. Like, I was barking up the wrong street. Full disclosure there.
Dan Patrick
But.

But soon as the Raiders put out the statement, I knew me, I'm like, physical. Oh, my God. Yeah. You know, and unfortunately, we were able to report that. But you don't tell the Las Vegas Raiders the trade is off for Max Crosby unless you got a backup plan. Yeah, put it that way. You're not doing that. It's a hard decision. You're taking heat.
Dan Patrick
You're.
Stephanie Young
You're possibly affecting the relationship with John Spytak there, you know, in readers, in terms of doing deals with them. Again, there's a lot that comes with that decision. But I think in the end, Eric DaCosta looked at the situation was like, I'm not willing to do this. I can't. I can't go along with this. And in the end, they made the call.
Dan Patrick
Talking to Diana Rossini, senior NFL insider for the Athletic co host of the Athletic Scoop City podcast with Chase Daniel. Yeah, I feel bad for the Raiders because they had a whole different mindset of we're moving on from Max and we're going to move on from this contract. And they spent money and they started to build their team as if they needed a couple of years before they're going to be, you know, respectable, competitive. And now all of a sudden you got a guy who's great, but, you know, if you trade him, you're probably not going to get what you thought you were going to get. I just, I'm. I'm actually rooting for the Raiders to maybe get this right one day. And I thought that they were in. Headed in that direction. And then all of a sudden, I mean, if the consolation prize is you get Max Crosby back, but you need him now, you know, maybe in two years you need a Max Crosby kind of player, but you don't need Max now at that price. But this team, and I know you're
Stephanie Young
looking at the moves and you're coming up with that philosophy of this is what their plan is that they're just rebuilding. But that's the truth. That's, that's how they're been. That's how they've been speaking to free agents and to agents about where they're at. This isn't a team that's going all in for right now to try to win a Super bowl like we've seen around the league. This is a team that knows they're trying to rebuild. They're trying to rebuild it the right way and they, they've got the money, money and they've got the picks to do it. So look, is it awkward? Probably. I mean, I give credit to Max Crosby for driving into the facility today, right. Like to just go back to work and I guess I'm a Raider. I mean, I think he had a going away party based on his social media.
Dan Patrick
You know, he's there right now in the building.
Stephanie Young
He's in the building working out like going through rehab as a Raider, you know, and, and by the way, in credit to him too, just, you know, six year anniversary of his sobriety is today. You know, I, by the way, this is just me like Coleman is. I got way too much time, my hand on his social media. But, but, but, you know, first of all, just shout out to him, six years clean and obviously has had a tremendous career, but now just head down, back to work. He is the, the sort of model leader you want on your team. So I do think there will be organizations that are having conversations right now going, all right, we need a pass rusher who's out there. There's not that many great ones left. You've got Granard in, in Minnesota that teams are poking around on. You've got the Philadelphia Eagles, who said a lot more goodbyes than hellos lately. You know that how he's got something up his sleeve. They're engaging in some of those talks, but maybe there will be some shift to Max Crosby. But, but, you know, I, I think this is going to be more of a scenario where we see him in a Raiders uniform.
Dan Patrick
Great stuff. Are the kids in school this look,
Stephanie Young
Mikey's biting Joey in the middle of all this. I'm. And I don't mean like a little like, you know, one of the, you know, like a little fake bite. It was deep. Teeth in the arm, screaming. I'm like, guys, not now. My husband's like, what do you want me to do? I'm like, something, something. This is the biggest story in sports. I was doing all my tweeting last night on My back porch. Just like a weird. I was just thinking to myself, I sometimes I wish I could just video this for my kids to see one day of like, look what you did to me. Look how you aged me.
Dan Patrick
You know, Shefty doesn't have to deal with this. Glazer doesn't have to deal with this.
Stephanie Young
I think they all have their own things at home. Everyone's got family, everyone's got things. No one's got Mikey and Joey, though, I can tell you.
Dan Patrick
No, they don't. No, they don't. I know you're busy. Thanks for taking time.
Stephanie Young
Appreciate you having me.
Dan Patrick
Diana Rossini. You can hear her on the athletic podcast Scoop City with Chase Daniel. Imagine Max Crosby goes back. Does the swipe card work? You know, is somebody in your parking spot? That's wild. Also, earlier, the Ravens restructured Lamar Jackson's contract. That'll free up $40 million for this year. Jeff in San Antonio. Hi, Jeff. What's on your mind today?
Marvin
Good morning, dp. Thanks for fitting me in, buddy. Yeah, first off, how about some gritty players? Yokum Noah, Tony Allen. And then in my opinion, Clay is 60 something points and 3/4 way better than Adebio the 83 there. And then lastly, you let off the show this saying, this is going to be a disaster for the Raiders. The Raiders are perfect position. They had one of the best offseasons they've had in like 20 years. And then with Crosby, we won six games the last two years. So we'll be fine with or without him. We got picks. They had a great, you know, free agency. You saw the picks. We getting Mendoza, so maybe minus a pick or something, best case scenario, we get Crosby back and he helps with the rebuild.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but you know, the rebuild is a couple of years away. And as much as I'd love to have Max Crosby, I've said before he's one of my favorite players to watch because he never stops. But you were getting two first round picks and that's how you build. Max comes back. But Max is for a team that like the Ravens, ready to win now.
Paulie
Yeah, Paul, I've got Crosby's contract in front of me. He signed it about a year and a half ago. For 2026, he will make $35 million. For 2027, he'll make $29 million. They paid a lot up front. He's relatively affordable as of right now. Maybe not in a football sense, but financially. And after the 2027 season, they owe him nothing.
Dan Patrick
I will agree. Joe Kim, Noah Gritty, and gutty as a. As a player. Sure. Daniel in California. Hey, Daniel.
Marvin
Hey. I had a question. With all the controversy around Wilt Chamberlain would be considered a gritty and gritty player in current.
Dan Patrick
Eric. No, because Wilt was one of the most talented, athletic people to walk the planet. He ran track, did volleyball, played for the Globetrotters, dominated basketball. No, no, he wouldn't be a gritty, gutty guy. Jim in Oregon. Hi, Jim. What's on your mind?
Marvin
I was just gonna. Well, first off, five, five, nine, about £200. I saw Wilt play his last game in Portland. He was 36 years of age. He had 17 points, 31 rebounds, 11 assists. And depending on which newspaper you want to listen to, he had either six, eight, or nine blocks.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, yeah. You know, they didn't keep those stats. And same with Bill Russell. I mean, Bill Russell would have had more block shots than Wilt Chamberlain. Probably, but, I mean, there were games when these guys would have 15 to 20 block shots. Take a break. Last call for phone calls. What we learn, what's in store tomorrow. And final results of the poll question back after this. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows@foxsportsradio.com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to listen live. Trey Hendrickson goes to the Ravens. But I'd love to know when the Ravens reached out to Trey Hendrickson's attorney or agent. You got Max Crosby right in front of you, and all of a sudden you say to his face, this isn't going to work out. Thank you. We have some nice parting gifts. And then Trey Hendrickson was announced a couple hours ago. It's nice to have options. I don't think you make that move in a vacuum. I think you make that move knowing that you have something in the on deck circle. Yeah. Seaton, I wonder if at any point there's going to be maybe some recourse from the NFLPA on this. Yeah, Paulie and I have talked about it. I. I just don't know how you can prove anything, you know, if you don't like what you see. If you look at the X rays, the MRI with his knee, I. I just don't know if you can say, hey, we're turning down this deal. We feel nervous about it. I think the Ravens got what they really wanted, and that is they got an edge rusher and they didn't have to give up their draft picks. It's a smarter move, I think. And if you factor in Max Crosby's knee, then it's a no brainer to me. It just, it feels like, well, you know, Diana Rossini said, no, this, there is something shady about this. Yeah.
Paulie
Paul, I'm curious how one fails a physical. Is it like 69 to 70 and 70 is a pass or is it in the eye of the beholder? Was there new information? And I know the Ravens can't give out any Max Crosby information, but Max Crosby could tell us or someone else. What were you told as for what new information that they didn't get from the Raiders because they would have gotten it from the Raiders.
Dan Patrick
And I'm wondering if you get X rays. I don't know how this works, so I'm just throwing it out there. If I'm going to trade for Max Crosby, I'm going to give you two first round picks. Can you send me his medicals? Can Max sign off on you sending the medicals here so we can start to get ahead of this? Because I don't want to wait until you get there and then look at your knee. I want to know, let's see what it looks like when you had surgery in January and then we could get ahead of this and then we're going to do our own medical evaluation. Just feels like something, something is there. Yeah.
Paulie
Paul, I think the Ravens got caught up in the free agent fervor and they don't trade draft picks because they, they draft really well historically the Ravens and they saw the Bills making a big splash and we're going to make a big splash. And then they said, what did we give up? Because they got critiqued a little bit for giving up a lot for an injured 28 year old. And yeah, it could be convenient.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. But DJ Moore doesn't scare me if I'm Baltimore. What scares me is I lost eight players. You gotta, you lost your center. I mean, you, you lost player. You lost a tight end. I mean, this is. You can't afford to give up those draft picks. And that's why I kept going. You, you've lost a lot of players now you get the restructured contract with Lamar and then I can get Trey Hendrickson. He's not better than Max Crosby, but he, he makes more sense than Max Crosby does. And I get to keep my draft picks. Yes.
Marvin
Marvin, how much did the super bowl odds change now that they have Trey instead of Max?
Dan Patrick
I, I don't think it changed too much. I was looking this morning, but this is before they went. When they lost Max Crosby, I think they went I mean, a slight dip, but I don't have the exact numbers here. But now getting Trey Hendrickson. They may have gone back up where they're a top five super bowl favorite. David in Indiana. Hi, David. What's on your mind?
Marvin
Hey, Dan. Thanks for taking my call. I just want to say that Todd is my role model, and I try and model all my humor after Todd. That being said, everyone at work finds me annoying. But I have a question for Todd. Can we get one dining moment sometime this week?
Dan Patrick
Well, we have to wait until the end of March Madness, don't we, for one dining moment? Or do you want to hear last year's version of one dining moment? That was brutal. We can. We can work on that, David. You know, how about meet Friday? We'll. We'll do one dining moment.
Paulie
One.
Marvin
One to ruin everyone's appetite.
Dan Patrick
Frank in Connecticut. Hi, Frank. What's on your mind?
Marvin
And I'm going to try to make a perfect call like Chris in Syracuse. I have three things. First, two great guests today. Diana Rossini is amazing. She reminds me of every woman I grew up with in Hell's Kitchen. One tough broad. Secondly, Marvin. I used to meet in the Stop and Shop parking lot all the time. But since he's making big money now, he's going to Whole Foods, and I miss him.
Dan Patrick
And what's the third point?
Marvin
The third point is on March 1962, I was going to clean out my locker at Howard Memorial, and I saw my coach, Jack Donahue, and I said, hey, Coach, I see Wilt scored 100 points. He said, Riley, you couldn't score 100 points if I gave you the ball. The empty gym and 48 minutes. That's how I remember it.
Dan Patrick
Thank you, Frank. Power Memorial, where Lu Alcindor went to school. Jeremiah in Colorado. Hey, Jeremiah.
Marvin
Hey, Dan. First time, long time. Six, two, three, ten. Thank you. Wanted to give you a gritty and gutty player about Quincy Ace.
Dan Patrick
Quincy, AC Was he Iowa or no? Was he Baylor or Iowa?
Marvin
I believe Baylor.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Oh, here are the Ravens odds Now. This is before they got Trey Hendrickson. It was The Rams at plus 750. Seahawks plus 900. The Ravens are now plus 950. They were plus 900. They were tied for the second best odds. I'm going to guess they're probably back down to plus 900 after the Trey Hendrickson move. A.C. earl went to Baylor. Marvin, Quincy. Oh, I'm thinking A.C. earl, Iowa. Yeah. This day in sports history.
Paulie
Paul, I just got a couple for you. Randy, this is a good one. 1979 hockey player Randy Holt of the LA Kings. He was penalized nine times for 67 minutes in the first period of a game against the Philadelphia Flyers. 67 minutes in the first period. In 1990, Jennifer Capriotti, at only 13 years old, played her first professional tennis match.
Dan Patrick
First basketball game was played on this date, 1892, and the final score was 5 to 1. The only basket scored by the instructors was the famous football coach, Amos Alonzo Stagg. He was a member of the Springfield College faculty ran up the score. Todd, what did I learn today?
Marvin
We're in the process of learning. If some are upset that Bam got 83 because he felt contrived or because
Dan Patrick
he surpassed Kobe's 81, thanks for joining us today. For the backroom guys, Fritzi Seaton, Marv Paulie, yours truly, we'll try to do better tomorrow.

Main Theme:
This episode centers on the fallout from Bam Adebayo's historic 83-point game, the perception of his achievement compared to other NBA scoring feats, the dynamics around remarkable sports records, and shifting ground in NFL free agency—particularly the dramatic Max Crosby trade saga. The episode features analysis, humor, input from callers, and an in-depth insider segment with The Athletic’s Dianna Russini.
[02:11 – 17:55]
“That's what I've been saying. It's still 83...He had a game. A game for the ages. Kobe's not defined by 81. Kobe's so much more than that. This might be what Bam Adebayo is defined by, that he's the guy who put up 83 and dates A’ja Wilson." (06:35)
“...Bam made those shots under extreme pressure. He scored 83 points, and he deserves all the credit. And the best part was after the game when Bam searched out his mom and they exchanged the warmest hugs ever.” (11:42)
[13:12 – 17:55]
[23:44 – 35:54]
“You're not being cynical. This thing stinks. What are you talking about? You're spot on. There's 100% shadiness going down right now.” (26:22)
Timestamps for Key Segment:
“I had one person in football reach out… ‘I am frightened for whoever's got a lineup against Max Crosby this season. Like the chip he's going to have on his shoulder to shove it back to the Baltimore Ravens.’” (30:15)

They started to build their team as if they needed a couple years before they're going to be respectable, competitive.
