Final hour on this Meat Friday Dan and the Danets Dan Patrick Show. And in case you're wondering, and I know you are, because it is a Meat Friday we got chicken and sausage, sausage gumbo. That's chicken and sausage gumbo, seafood gumbo and cornbread. Who has it better than we do?
Todd
No.
Dan Patrick
All righty. Sunday night, Matthew Stafford and the Rams against Caleb Williams and the Bears. It'll be on NBC. And Peacock, and they start their festivities at 6 Eastern. Chris Sims, on loan from Football Night in America, will stop by in about 20 minutes from now. We had best of the week and now we have worst of the week. Now that's new because normally it's best of the week and the most must win game of the weekend. I say good morning if you're watching on Peacock. Thank you. Or you're listening on our radio affiliates around the country. Got a full slate on Saturday and Sunday. The weather has been a topic of conversation with the Bears and the rams. Here's Sean McVay, the Rams head coach, on playing in the cold.
Sean McVay
You know how the, the actual. Just cold in general in terms of how the ball feels. But last year was a great example of, you know, we had two really cold games. But fortunately, you know, Matthews played in these conditions and so doesn't change. There's a couple things you have to be mindful of. But now you start talking about wind, rain and how that really affects your footing, stuff like that. But we always kind of adjust and adapt. You know, they got to be able to play in those same sort of elements. They obviously have had a little bit more experience, but we're not going to allow that to be an excuse. And so I think you do have to have a feel. But I think the way that our guys play, I think it suits us well in any sort of conditions. And that's kind of what we've always said.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I don't know if it's a big advantage or a big disadvantage. Although I will say, when the Dolphins went to Kansas City for a playoff game, that felt like it was a huge advantage for the Chiefs. And some of the Dolphins two years ago talked about that's as cold as they've ever played in, and it is one of the coldest games on record in NFL playoff history. There's just a difference because you can get acclimated to cold weather. We live in the East. When I go to Maine and I'm outside and it's 7 degrees, then all of a sudden it goes to 9 degrees and I go, ah, all right, feels okay. You just get used to that. Now I'm not playing football. You're just walking around. But you know, it's all relative. When you talk about the weather. I'll go to south Florida and I'll go, how do you put up with this? Or I'll go to Arizona. How do you put up with this? Well, they do because they're just acclimated to it. But playing in a game like altitude, why is it altitude matters more when you're playing a basketball game? But we rarely talk about altitude when we play a football game. Basketball be like, man, you got to get ready to go play in Denver against the Nuggets. Shouldn't altitude matter in a football game as well? But it always mattered with baseball I or basketball. I know it matters in baseball with, you know, the ball carrying. But, you know, you got the Broncos and the Bills, and that game's been back and forth one and a half this way, one and a half that way. You got the Niners, who are seven point underdogs, but, you know, they're banking on all of these games being pretty tight. All right, eight, seven, seven, three. DP show email address dp@danpatrick.com Twitter handle it DP Show Seattle at home. Seven point favorite. It was seven and a half. And we found out that Sam Darnold has an oblique injury, and he spoke about that in Routes on air. Just kind of felt a little.
Chris Simms
Little something in my oblique.
Dan Patrick
Just didn't want to push it, you.
Chris Simms
Know, wasn't the day to push it.
Paul
So that was.
Joel and Matt from How to Money
That was it.
Dan Patrick
So just came inside, got some rehab, and, you know, feel like I'll be.
Chris Simms
Ready to go for Saturday.
Dan Patrick
So it's no big deal. But it felt like it was a big deal yesterday when Shefty breathlessly telling us about his oblique, like, okay, seems like that could be a problem. And then I think he was like 50, 50 if he was going to play, which. And then Drew Locke took some snaps. So it sounded like it could be a possibility there. I don't know. All right, the worst week in sports. Marvin, would you give your worst week in sports again?
Todd
The Los Angeles Lakers.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Because they don't play defense. Todd, worst week in sports.
Todd
The PGA Tour letting Brooks Koepka come back after he left to grab a whole bunchload of cash from the live tour. Now he wants back in. I think the PGA Tour says to tell all live golfers, stay where you are. We don't want you back.
Dan Patrick
Well, there's only a couple of golfers that are invited back if they want to. Not all the other ones are welcome back. John rom and Bryson DeChambeau and Cameron Smith. That's it. Now you're the PGA Tour, and Brooks Koepka wants to come back. Does it feel like a PR win for the PGA Tour that he wants to come back?
Todd
I. I could see that line of thinking. I'm just greater picture that they ran to, you know, whatever issues they have with the PGA Tour to get hundreds of millions of dollars or whatever, and now they realize that they are much better off coming back crawling on their hands and knees. Let me back in. Because I'm with a tour that no.
Dan Patrick
One cares about figuratively coming back on their hands and knees. Well, I would think it would be a win for the PGA Tour because you're taking somebody away from the live tour who is known, who has what, four majors, and he comes back to your tour. Now, there are some players, I don't know if they put their name to this, but it was like, well, I would have gone for 100 million if I knew that I could come back in three years. You know, I pay a penalty and all right, I'm still making a hundred million, if not more. I don't think DeChambeau is coming back. I don't think Rom is coming back. I don't think Dustin. That's. Nobody talks about Dustin Johnson anymore. If they do, it's because of, you know, Paulina. But, you know, he's a non factor. Cameron Smith, I loved watching him play, thought he was unbelievable putter. But you know what he did a lifestyle. You know, these guys said, hey, we don't want to play in as many events now. They're traveling all over the world, but they're getting, you know, 100 million, 200 million, 300 million. I understand that. Do I think the live tour will live much longer? I don't. I mean, they have the money to be able to put into it. There's just not an interest there. I think they're waiting so much so that they got rid of the, hey, you can wear shorts, and we have team nicknames and we got music, and you can smoke cigars and you can. Nobody cares. We still come back to I want to see great golf. I want to see great golf in events that I know in places that I know. Like watching the Sony Open last night. You know, you got this landmark golf course and you got these golfers there. And, you know, granted, there is no Tiger, there is no Jack, there's no philosopher. I mean, there's still. That's. That's the issue. You got to create some of these guys, and it's hard to differentiate between that guy and that guy and that guy. Hey, you shot a 66. Okay. Next day he shoots a 78. Like, okay, but I think live tour is not interesting unless you love DeChambeau or Phil John Rom. Other than that, you know, I do like the graphics. Like I'll, I'll watch the TV presentation of it and I do like that there's some fun things on there. But as far as the golf goes, it doesn't really matter. They already got their money and you're out there playing and having fun. Okay. Yeah, sorry, I'm not, not included in that, that fan base. Yeah.
Paul
Paul, Dustin Johnson, he's really not coming back to the PGA Tour. Yesterday he signed an extension with the live tour.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but nobody cares.
Paul
He was first guy to jump.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, yeah. I mean he's a non factor. I don't even know if he's playing well over there. I mean, I, I, I've watched, but I, I, I don't know. Worst week in sports, Paulie, were you the last one?
Paul
I think so. I'm going to go. Nick Sirianni, the Eagles head coach, by losing to the 49ers, depleted 49ers, you really burned your super bowl hall pass. It's burned, it's gone. And you got no wiggle room going forward.
Dan Patrick
Howie Roseman, the general manager for the Eagles was asked if he was going to trade A.J.
Paul
Brown, if it makes sense.
Dan Patrick
Are you open to trading him or is that just a non starter?
Seaton
Yeah, we talked about this, I think at the trade deadline last time I talked. It is hard to find great players in the NFL and AJ Is a great player. I think from my perspective, that's what we're going out and looking for when we go out here in free agency in the draft is trying to find great players who love football and he's that, that guy. So I think that would be my answer.
Dan Patrick
Howie, just to follow up, you open to trading A.J. brown? That was the question.
Seaton
I mean, it's hard to find good place.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Seaton
What makes it easier is trading players for more to find those players.
Dan Patrick
Like that. Yeah. I'm sorry, would you answer the question, please? Yes, Todd.
Todd
And do you like when he attacks downhill? I know you're not the head coach, but I thought you could speak to that.
Seaton
What do you know about.
Dan Patrick
Seaton? Do you have the worst week in sports?
Seaton
I do, as a matter of fact. Worst week in sports.
Dan Patrick
All right.
Seaton
Ronnie o' Sullivan withdraws from master snooker. This is a huge story. Eight time Masters champion withdrew from the 2026 Masters on medical grounds for the second year in a row, Ronnie O', Sullivan, arguably the most famous snooker player in history. This is the second year in a row he won't be at the Masters.
Paul
Ronnie O. Yeah, yeah.
Seaton
That's a major blow to fans and the sports visibility, really?
Dan Patrick
Ronnie.
Seaton
Oh, no, Ronnie. The two years in a row. What a crusher.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Seaton
Master snooker.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. I didn't know. I. I checked the paper on injuries. I didn't know. I didn't see him listed there for snooker.
Seaton
Just broke today, as a matter of fact.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Paul
How does one injure themselves playing snooker? Back injury, maybe the lean over.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, maybe he got injured while not playing snooker. You know, you lift a pint, you know, after a while, maybe a pint fell on his toe. Yes.
Todd
Todd, is the snooker headquarters on the Jersey shore that's wondering where that. Oh, Snooky.
Dan Patrick
You know what I would.
Todd
Say with that C minus Deeper.
Dan Patrick
The whiff. Yeah, yeah. You whiff? Yeah, a whiff. Yeah. You did it. The Snooki jersey shirt.
Todd
You like the snooker Snooki?
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Todd
Kind of old news, that show.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Todd
Dated myself yet again.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. You have your rhyme time coming up a little later.
Nav Green from Broken Play Podcast
I do.
Todd
If you could still let me do it.
Dan Patrick
I was. I was not going to, but I will, I will. Brialla in Maryland.
Caller
Hi, Dan, this is Brialla, longtime watcher, first time caller, five five, one, 15. So I have a comment about the LIV Tour and what you were just commenting on. I think it is very hypocritical of the PGA Tour and the players and the fact that they do not acknowledge that if the Lift Tour had never come into existence, they would never, ever be making the big dollar monies. These $20 million tournaments are all because they were threatened by the Lift Tour. Prior to that, they were unwilling to negotiate, they were unwilling to change. They said they have the money. Next thing you know, live comes along, the big money comes along and suddenly money is flooding into these tournaments. Players like Rory McElroy and all those outspoken players are making millions more. And it's all strictly because of the live tour.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but that doesn't mean that the live tour is watchable. I agree with you, Brialla, that the PGA Tour knew they had to up the ante. I agree, absolutely. These guys on tour did benefit. Rory could have made a billion dollars. He could have gone to the live tour, made a billion dollars. Tiger could have gone, they were going to pay him a billion dollars. But that doesn't mean the live tour is watchable. Like, tune in to you know, watch all four days. Are they up to four days now?
Paul
They are moving to that, yeah.
Dan Patrick
Well, that's a big move, you know, going from three days to four days.
Paul
The union's going to complain.
Dan Patrick
Yes. Eaton.
Seaton
I don't know how realistic it is, though, for people to expect the current players in the PGA Tour to thank the live tour for today. Thank you for trying to put us out of business because now we have more money. I appreciate you guys leaving here to try and shut us down and put us out of business. Thank you so much.
Dan Patrick
That was great, because that was Greg Norman's goal.
Seaton
I don't know how, if that's what you're expecting. I think, you know, don't hold your breath.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Greg Norman wanted to put the PGA Tour out of business. He did. He's been trying to do that for decades. Sounds like Phil Mickelson's all in on doing that as well.
Seaton
Just want to thank you for burning my house down. Look at this new one I have now.
Dan Patrick
That's awesome, right?
Seaton
Not really.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. But yeah, they did raise the prize money, but in the process, they were raising the prize money. They didn't. That wasn't. Wasn't their goal on the live tour to go. You know what? We're gonna raise the prize money for you guys. You're gonna thank us. No. These guys left knowing that this could damage the PGA Tour, and it has to a certain degree, because I'd love to see. DeChambeau is the one guy like him and Rory are the. You know, there's very few guys where you go, is that guy playing like Rory's playing in Dubai this week? The DP World Tour. All right, I'm gonna watch it. DeChambeau, to me, must see TV. Rom is just a good. You know, he's a really good golfer, but he's not Must See tv. Jordan Spieth is more Must see tv, because you never know what you're getting with him. It's like, wait a minute. What fairway is he on, Nate? How did he get over there and somehow end up with a birdie? But, you know, the very few golfers that will kind of, you know, push that needle. And DeChambeau is one of those guys. He's fun to watch. All right, we'll take a break. We will ask the question, who has the most pressure on them? Coming up, these games this weekend, Chris Simms will join us on loan from Football Night in America. More of your phone calls as well. Todd has a rhyme time. We're back after this.

Todd
Oh, my boy Matthew Stafford.
Dan Patrick
Where did Bo Nicks at?
Todd
He ain't too far behind.
Dan Patrick
He did all this talking.
Chris Simms
What Matthew Stafford is doing statistically, bro, is crazy.
Nav Green from Broken Play Podcast
Bro, you know I ain't no Josh Allen fan, but Matthew Stafford got better weapon. Caleb Williams.
Todd
Hey, he should be in that conversation.
Dan Patrick
In what conversation?
Nav Green from Broken Play Podcast
He should be in it. Listen to Broken Play with Nav Green from the Black Effect podcast podcast Network on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast or whatever, you get your podcast.
Dan Patrick
He's Kristoff Sims, Pro Football Talk Live co host and you'll find him on Football night in America. They got the Bears and the rams. Festivities started 6 Eastern on NBC. And Peacock, good to see you again. Give me the team or the player with the most pressure this weekend.
Chris Simms
Oh, well, I think, you know, team wise, that's a good one, player. I still think we're probably on the Josh Allen conversation just because of course. Yeah, I know Burrow not being in there. Lamar Patrick Mahomes, everybody thinks that. As I've told you before, and we discussed, I think the last time on, we're looking at the modern day John Elway. He's one of the greatest quarterbacks we've ever seen play the sport. He's yet to get to a Super Bowl. I think he feels that pressure. I think you could see that on his face last weekend. Right. So that would be one.
Dan Patrick
Right.
Chris Simms
The other guy I would say is C.J. stroud. I mean, C.J. stroud last week. How could there not be pressure? Everybody's going to be looking at him. That's the Houston Texans defense is like the 2013 Seahawks or the 2015 Broncos or the 2000 Ravens. They're the best unit left in this playoffs. And the way that he played, I mean, I was yelling at the screen going just kneel on the ball, Texans. Kneel on it and you'll win 14 to 3. Just don't do anything again. Right. So we're going to be watching him for sure. And you know, I think after that, the team I probably look at to have the most pressure would be the Denver Broncos. Honestly, Denver just being at home expectations. Ooh, the first big time home playoff game and we're a number one seed in the Sean Payton era. And Bo Nix's first home playoff game. So this is unchartered territories for them. I would think that would be the team I'd probably pick under the most pressure.
Dan Patrick
No Sam Darnold on the list, huh?
Chris Simms
Well, there's that for sure. Yes, everybody. I felt like that was almost too obvious. We know Sam Darnold. He's going to be the guy we look at. I'm a big believer in the Seattle Seahawks. I will be shocked if they lose the football game on Saturday night. I think they are in another class from the San Francisco 49ers. Their roster, their defense is just a tick below the Houston Texans. I think they're a team on the rise. I hope he's healthy, but, yeah, we'll be watching him. That's an obvious one.
Dan Patrick
Give me the game. That could be a blowout. Of all the four games.
Chris Simms
You know what? If you had to make me choose one game that. I think it could be a blowout. I think it would be the Seattle Seahawks 49er football game. That would be the one. You know, I'm amazed that the 49ers are there. You know, I'm friends with Shanahan, and I just think this is maybe his greatest coaching job ever. When you just talk about everything that's happened, the injuries, right, all of that, the defense, they're just decimated. They got destroyed in that Week 18 matchup. I mean, I don't need to say much. You saw Shanahan at halftime. He was like, I'm just glad we're down by 10 points.
Dan Patrick
Right?
Chris Simms
Because I think he was like, we should be down 20, 24. So I do look at that and go, do I think Seattle can slow down the Shanahan offense? Yes, of course I do. And Seattle was so close on offense to kind of blowing them out of the water in week 18. I think that if there's one, that'll be the game.
Dan Patrick
Help us understand what Kyle Shanahan does for his quarterback in the huddle. And then, well, they cut that off with what, 15 seconds to go, but sure. What. What exactly is he saying to Brock Purdy? And. And, you know, as he gets ready to call the player, go to the line of scrimmage, I don't think he.
Chris Simms
Says much to him in that from my understanding. Right. I think they've already been wired as a robot during the week to kind of know, hey, when I call this, you. He makes it simple for them. When I call this.
Dan Patrick
Oh, so it's not in game as much as it is prior to that.
Chris Simms
Leading up to prior to. Right. He's already come into the game plan going, listen, I'm go call this play with this play in the huddle, too. So you got to figure out. And just look at this guy. If he goes this way, check to the other play. If he goes to this way, you know, stay with the play we got called. But he's an ultimate. What I always kind of. The phrase I use is code cracker. Right. Shanahan is rare and rare in the history of NFL football. And I would say Bill Belichick could do this the other way around. Shanahan's dad could probably do it as well. He could be a defensive coordinator. He understands the defensive rules every bit as much as any defensive coach in the sport. And that's what he. So when he gets in film, getting to film during the week and starts to go, okay, what do they do? When I play this formation and that formation, he tries to find something to go, all right, all right, all right. I know they're going to kind of be in this one defense or maybe this other defense. And now I'm going to devise a few plays off of it that are. If I can get them in this one defense, it's going to challenge some rules of some of the guys in this coverage. Right. And as long as he can figure out, okay, you're going to be in this, he now can kind of teach his receivers and maybe a play action pass to go, wait, this guy's got this rule, and if we do this to him, it kind of blows up his rules, and now he's in trouble and they can't stop it. So I know that's a long way to say that. It's a deep conversation, but I hope that answered the question pretty well.
Dan Patrick
Weather is perhaps going to play a role in the Bears game.
Chris Simms
Right.
Dan Patrick
Who is affected, aside from the quarterback?
Joel and Matt from How to Money
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Who's going to be affected the most in with this weather?
Chris Simms
Well, I think it's, you know, the ones I go to after that are running backs. Right, Running backs. I think just because it is so cold, the contact, the ball does become slick. So anybody carrying the football, I think is the next guy you look at. We know, you know, playing in the cold, it's. It's a different ball game, and when you get hit, it hurts a little bit more and everything's a little colder and drier and slicker and all that. But, you know, I think that's what you look at after that. You know, it depends. If the field gets frozen, then you can Start to look at DBs and receivers and can they keep their feet. But as far as the quarterbacks, like you mentioned, I'm not worried about either one of those quarterbacks. I mean, they are. They can throw the ball through anything.
Dan Patrick
Right.
Chris Simms
Those are. These are two of the greatest arms in the sport. Right up there with Josh Allen in that category. Right. Where, you know, they can throw spirals, they can cut it right through the wind and still throw it, make power throws. And I don't think it'll be affected too much on Sunday night.
Dan Patrick
Sam Darnold with an oblique injury. Explain to us how that would affect him.
Chris Simms
Yeah, that's just. I've had it.
Dan Patrick
It's.
Chris Simms
It's an annoying injury for a quarterback. Think about it. When you're throwing a lot of, like, right. Your golf swing, anything like that, baseball swing, you're swinging and you're trying to create that torque between the lower and upper half of your body. Right. And that's what great throwers do. You see Josh Allen, he's like this sometimes, and then he lets it go. Well, that muscle there, your oblique, is what's letting you rotate out of it. And when your arm is disconnected as well, and you have a longer lever, it really can pull on there. And I'm telling you, it's something that I had before, and it bothered me for weeks. And the first week it happened, I mean, I couldn't throw a football for the first seven or 10 days I had it.
Todd
Okay.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Chris Simms
So I'm going to be interested to see what he's got there.
Dan Patrick
Right.
Chris Simms
You know, the guy at lsu, Nussmeier, he had it this year and it really affected his play. That is not an easy injury to deal with. And I'll certainly be looking at Sam Donald early in that football game to.
Dan Patrick
See where he's at with that Dante Moore going back to Oregon. Yeah. Boomer Siason said that the jets benefited because they probably would have taken Dante Moore, and Dante Moore is not ready to play, which is an interesting perspective on that. But who benefited the most of Dante Moore going back to Oregon, Dante Moore or Ty Simpson of Alabama?
Chris Simms
Oh, well, I think Ty Simpson here just in. In, you know, as far as right now, because now he's Automatically, I think, QB2. I haven't studied Trinidad Chambliss yet. I know he's damn good and he's exciting, but I think the NFL's little hesitant on the smaller quarterback between Kyler to Bryce Young.
Dan Patrick
Right.
Chris Simms
So that's something that I'm interested to Dive into. But I think Ty Simpson. And I'll say this, Dan, I agree with Dante Moore. I think that was the right decision. He's got the talent to be the number one pick in the draft. He has all that. But, you know, I'd like to see him let his body mature a little bit more. I think he can become a little bit of a better leader and show some better, you know, body language during the game as well. His talent jumps off the screen. But, yeah, playing those reps, you know how important that is. I'm glad he's going back.
Dan Patrick
You're a New York Giants family. What did the family think of John Harbaugh, the G Man?
Chris Simms
I mean, we loved it. This is something. I've been banging the table really since the end of November. I knew in the summer that Harbaugh and this could happen. I had said it on my podcast with Florio. All that was very aware that this was a possibility with Harbaugh and the Ravens knowing some people in the situation. So I was not surprised it happened when it did happen. And I've been kind of since the end of November, like, man, Tomlin or Harbaugh? We want Tomlin or Harbaugh. Of course it's Harbaugh. I think he fits the Giant way. I really do.
Dan Patrick
Right. Tough.
Chris Simms
He has a little bit of a demeanor like a Bill Parcells, a Tom Coughlin. He's going to know how to talk to the media. And I think his cor beliefs are poor Giant beliefs. I I said yesterday, like when I was growing up or even playing in the NFL, the one thing about the Giants was always, oh, my gosh, look at the Giants walk on the field. Holy cow. How big are they?
Dan Patrick
Right?
Chris Simms
They were always the look team. Whoa. They got a huge tight end, huge tackles, big defensive tackles, pass rushers, all of that. They've gotten away from that. Harbaugh, as we know in Baltimore, they've made it a yearly acquisition of pillaging the biggest, baddest mofos on the planet to get on their football team. And that's the Giant way. So I'm excited about that too. And the Giants got a good nucleus that's young, that he can grow and really build something.
Dan Patrick
Here in New York, he's Chris Simms, Pro Football Talk Live co host. His podcast unbuttoned, and you can see him on Football Night America. It'll be the Bears and the Rams on Sunday. They start at 6 Eastern. How much have you watched of Fernando Mendoza?
Chris Simms
Well, a lot I have. I mean, you know, Being a Big Ten team, doing NBC Big Ten College Saturdays.
Joel and Matt from How to Money
Right.
Chris Simms
And all that. I, I saw him. I'm very impressed with Fernando Mendoza. I really am. I mean, his throwing is. He's a machine throwing the football. When you talk about power, accuracy.
Dan Patrick
Right.
Chris Simms
All the different types of throws, he's a better athlete that he gets credit for.
Dan Patrick
Right.
Chris Simms
So all of that, yeah, really impressive. Am I blown out away with him like I've been other guys? I'm not going to lie to you and say yes. No. I mean, you know, is he like Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson or Patrick Mahomes when I saw them coming out, or even C.J. stroud, who I really thought was special coming out as well? I don't know if I feel that way about him, but he's certainly worthy of being the number one pick and the first quarterback off the board.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. As a source said to me, there's nothing he does great, but there's nothing that he does wrong. That Pete, he just, he knows what he's doing.
Chris Simms
He does. He knows how to play.
Dan Patrick
I don't know if that's the best description for the number one overall pick, but he, we always look for flaws, you know, that guy's throwing motion or he got away with, you know, some bad habits in college. He doesn't anticipate, he doesn't, you know, line of scrimmage, process, all of those things. It feels like he has all of those things.
Chris Simms
Exactly.
Dan Patrick
But I said, would you take, would you sign up if I said he's going to be Joe Flacco?
Chris Simms
I would sign up for that, of course. Yes. I think Joe Flacco is one of the underrated quarterbacks of all time. Right. Haven't seen that in person and how big he is and how he throws the football. And then of course, again, I think like Mendoza, sneaky, underrated athleticism to move in the pocket, scramble when something was there. Yeah, I'd sign up for Joe Flacco right now if I were an NFL football team. But I know what you're saying, right. He is a slam dunk. Right machine throwing the football. But am I wowed by him sometimes? Am I wowed by his backyard ability to do stuff like that that we know is so important in the NFL now? No, I'm not. But NFL coaches are going to like him for all the reasons you explained, Dan. He knows how to read coverage, he knows how to make the appropriate throws, he knows how to anticipate, he can play in the pocket and do all that. And especially a coach that knows, hey, we got a good offensive coordinator and a good system and we need a guy that can run this system right. That's where he's really going to, you know, benefit and they're going to like him a lot.
Dan Patrick
What's the next best opening in the NFL?
Chris Simms
Oh, well, I think the Atlanta one. Atlanta or Tennessee after the. Oh, and then the Ravens, of course. I mean, the Ravens, you know, it's, it's, it's one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. So you got that right there. And of course a lot of pieces. So I look at that and go, that's one of them. The Falcons are definitely one of them.
Dan Patrick
Right.
Chris Simms
With that offensive line, you know, they got Drake, London, they got some young defensive talent. And then the Tennessee Titans are the other one I look at because they do have an offensive line. They got one of the best defensive tackles in football. And you got the quarterback. To me, those are the top ones available right now.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but you got to give me at least three years in Tennessee probably.
Chris Simms
But you know, you know how it is. You know, you probably would have said maybe the Patriots need two years or the Bears need two years.
Dan Patrick
Right.
Chris Simms
So you get the right coach in there with that new coach bump of energy and then also having a new way of how they're coaching and playing a team's going. Wait, I don't. You know, we gotta, we need a year to figure out the schematics of what this guy does. And then they got money to spend on top of that and could really. I think they're gonna have the most money out of anybody in salary cap this offseason. You know, they could certainly turn it around to where at least they're a pain in the butt in the AFC next year.
Dan Patrick
Have a great weekend as always. Thanks for joining us, Chris.
Chris Simms
Hey, always, man. You the man. Sell those jerks I said hi.
Dan Patrick
All right. Hey, jerks. He says hi. Chris Sims, Pro Football Talk Live co host and he'll be there with the Bears and the Rams. Paul in Colorado. Hey, Paul, what's on your mind today?
Caller
Good morning. Greetings from the Rocky Mountain way. Dan, real quick, what is your grandfather monitor?
Dan Patrick
Pop. Pop.
Caller
Hello.
Dan Patrick
Pop.
Todd
Pop.
Caller
Pop. Pop. Oh. Oh, that's interesting. Mine's grandpa. So real quick on Bo Nicks 25 wins. When he wins this weekend, we'll put him second in wins for over the last two years. Probably he is on pace for the best two year start. And when he wins in Buffalo, he will tie Josh in not in Buffalo and Denver, he Will tie Josh Allen for wins with 25. And by the way, Dan, our crab noise is real, and it's spectacular.
Dan Patrick
All right. Thank you, Grandpa. Thank you. Appreciate that. Yes, Marvin.
Todd
I thought he was going to say something, like, really original.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, like, oh, my gosh. You're called Grandpa. Even Pop Pop. Isn't that original? Yes, Paul.
Paul
My kids like to call me grandfather. Oh, wow. Is that a family name?
Dan Patrick
So how'd you come up with that? Yeah, my kids call me dad. You know what? Yeah, perish the thought. You know, they call me dad.
Seaton
Well, dad or father.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, to. To my face, they call me dad. Yes.
Paul
Paul, do you ever see kids call their parents by their first names in public?
Dan Patrick
Yes. That's a.
Paul
That's kind of freaky, isn't it? I'm talking kids. Kids under 15, not, like, college kids.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, yeah, I've been around it.
Paul
Not a fan.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I've seen it. Allison in la. Hi, Allison. What's on your mind?
Caller
What's up? How are you guys?
Dan Patrick
Great.
Caller
Amazing. I am five, six, and a hard one. Hundred and twenty.
Chris Simms
Yes.
Dan Patrick
Yes.
Caller
Okay, I have a rhyme time, and it's gonna go like this halftime show.
Dan Patrick
Wait, where's this voice coming from? Allison? It's.
Caller
It's Los Angeles.
Dan Patrick
I know, but it's, like. Yeah.
Caller
It'S, like, pretty iconic.
Dan Patrick
No, it sounds great. I just was like. All right, okay. Go ahead with your rhyme time.
Caller
This is how I sound constantly. People can, like, literally recognize my voice from, like, years ago and are like, are you that girl I met? I'm like, I'm that girl.
Dan Patrick
All right, what do you have for me with rhyme time?
Caller
Okay, perfect. So, halftime show. Fritz, the bad bunny. Not funny.
Dan Patrick
Ooh.
Chris Simms
Burn.
Dan Patrick
Wow. Damn.
Nav Green from Broken Play Podcast
Dang.
Seaton
Allison called up and gave the clue and the answer, and it was all a shot at Todd.
Todd
And I was just gonna say, like, 30 seconds ago how much I loved her voice, which I still do. But I thought we were gonna guess the. The rhyme. That's the whole idea with the ride time.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Alison beat us to the punchline. Thank you, Allison. Yes.
Seaton
Allison isn't one of the sisters that Todd met that time.
Dan Patrick
Why.
Seaton
Why are you on her shirt?
Todd
Why do you talk about football so much? I don't get it.
Dan Patrick
No, Allison's voice is better than that. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
Chris Simms
That.
Dan Patrick
That girl did not understand why her sister had your face on her shirt.
Todd
So weird. Three hours talking sports. No, thanks.
Dan Patrick
Oh, Todd. Todd saw somebody who was willing to listen to him for a couple of hours, and you. You sat there and chatted her up.
Todd
Just need an audience.
Dan Patrick
But her sister just couldn't. She had all these snide comments, you know, while you're talking to her sister.
Todd
Why are all these people hanging out with you? Am I supposed to know you? Are you famous?
Dan Patrick
Last call for phone calls. What we learned what's in store for more Monday Meet Friday if you're watching on Peacock where dad Bunny not funny.

Last call for phone calls what we learn what's in store for Monday. This day in sports history as well. Jeff in Tampa. Hi, Jeff. What's on your mind today?
Caller
Yeah, good morning, dp. I was wondering how everybody's, you know, crediting Indiana's run to the age of their starting lineup with the Diego Pavia lawsuit. And I think I read some other trying to get it to where you have to play eight games for not to be able to qualify as a red shirt. Are these days of, you know, Everybody having a 23 year old senior or a 26 year old Tyler Schuck are these days here to stay?
Dan Patrick
I don't think so. I think you had the COVID year. You know, you get a red shirt in there. Basketball, a lot of, there's a lot of high school players, they take a gap year. You start to see that a little bit more in sports where or they'll go to a boarding school and then get ready to go into college. But look at March Madness. I mean there were some lineups last year. They, they look like they were in their mid to late 20s. Todd, we're ready for it.
Todd
Rhyme time.
Seaton
Action.
Todd
Here we go.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Todd
Corn chip, my team's number 15. Corn chip. My team's number 15. Dorito bonito. Frito Bonito would be the corn chip. Frito Bonito. Falcons, Old birds. San Fran signaler. Falcon's old birds. San Fran Signaler.

Todd
Excellent. Seattle tattle. Measure ram head. Measure ram head. Like pounds and ounces. Measure ram head.
Dan Patrick
Yes.
Paul
Way McVeigh.
Todd
Way McVeigh. Poly running away with it right now.
Dan Patrick
The one person who doesn't want rhyme time is dominating rhyme time.
Paul
I'm a convert.
Todd
Fleetwood Deli with that, by the way. Fleetwood Deli. Meat.
Dan Patrick
Mac. Oh. Tommy Salami.
Todd

Todd
Noisy Texan. Noisy Texan.
Dan Patrick

Todd
We got the coaching player rhyming. How about that? Laker Ram. Laker Ram.
Dan Patrick
Luca Puka.
Todd
Luca Puka is what we got right there.
Joel and Matt from How to Money
Luca.
Dan Patrick
G. And Luca Palayuca.
Todd
Sex drive. Good for you. Single sex drive. Good for you.
Seaton
Single libido who sings a song.
Nav Green from Broken Play Podcast

Seaton

Dan Patrick
Oh, my God.
Todd
Good for you.
Dan Patrick
Single. Should have stopped.
Seaton
I don't think her name is pronounced radio.
Todd
It's not Olivia. Rodrigo.
Seaton
Rodrigo Libido.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Todd
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
With Todd.
Seaton
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
I'm like, ah.
Todd
We'll end it with this one. Swamp Team Peacock show for a little plug. Swamp Team Peacock show. The show we've been promoting on Peacock. The team plays in the Swamp.
Dan Patrick
Lsu.
Todd
The Swamp. We were looking for gators and traders. The Swamp.
Dan Patrick
I thought they were like, the bayou is a swamp, too. Yes. Florida Gators and what was it? Gator traders.
Todd
Gators traders. Type of bets, corn cereal. Type of bets, corn cereal. Looking for props and pops. Props and pops.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Yeah. You should have stopped. No, that's it. We're done. Paulie tried to help you. If you would have stopped, the applause would have been raucous. This day in sports history.
Paul
Paul, just a couple. 1988. It always happens. The St. Louis Cardinals football announced they're moving to Phoenix. 1993, Jordan scored 64 against the Magic, his second best game of his career. Scoring wise. Malcolm Glazer in 95 bought the Tampa Bay Bucks for only 192 million. In O2, the sale of the Red Sox for 660 million.
Dan Patrick
Dallas Cowboys, they beat the Dolphins. They rushed for 252 yards. Roger Staubach passed for 119 yards, two touchdowns. Named the most valuable player. The lead story will be what on Monday? Todd.
Todd
Josh has to wait another year.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Seaton.
Seaton
I think the Bills bow out early.
Dan Patrick
Bills bow out.
Todd
Marvin Texans dominate.
Dan Patrick
Okay, Paul.
Paul
I was gonna go Bills. I think I'M gonna go Seahawks. Seahawks winning.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, that won't lead. Not enough people nationally are interested in that. Doesn't mean that they're not going to Super Bowl. I would say Buffalo. If Buffalo loses. If the Rams lose, the Bears lose. They probably get a lot of attention. Todd, what'd you learn today?
Todd
Chris Russo wants us to know. Super agent Scott Boris is really the one who runs the Major League Baseball Players Association.
Dan Patrick
Seaton, what did you learn with Matt and Maryland here?
Seaton
Fritzi was 100% willing to pay 299aminute to keep talking to Allison from LA.
Todd
What about it, Todd?
Dan Patrick
What did. What did I learn?
Todd
Chris Russo doesn't consider Mike Tomlin and John harbor all time great coaches worthy of making it into the whole thing.
Dan Patrick
Have a great weekend, everybody. We'll talk to you on Monday. This is an iHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human.

“Now you’re the PGA Tour, and Brooks Koepka wants to come back. Does it feel like a PR win for the PGA Tour that he wants to come back?” – Dan Patrick (07:02)

Caller Brialla (on LIV's Influence):
“These $20 million tournaments are all because they were threatened by the LIV Tour. Prior to that, they were unwilling to negotiate, they were unwilling to change.” (14:29)
Chris Simms on Playoff Pressure:
“Modern day John Elway … one of the greatest quarterbacks we’ve ever seen… He’s yet to get to a Super Bowl. I think he feels that pressure.” (20:41)
