We will be back here in this same spot coming up tomorrow as well, too. So away we go here in our three and we've got one of the hot topics in the NFL this off season, and that's the Browns quarterback room. Who's going to get the nod? Who's on their way out? How's this whole thing going to play out? You got Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dylan Gabriel, Shador Sanders and DeShawn Watson waiting in the wings. Maybe one day he'll get his job back. Who the hell knows? But the Cleveland Browns have got all sorts of quarterbacks there and there's all sorts of questions and speculation going on. Mary Kay Cabot, who covers the Cleveland Browns, who's been doing it for a long time. She was on the Orange and Brown Talk podcast and she says that there's one rookie that might have the advantage over the other. If there were a rookie quarterback that were that we're going to start some games this season, I would think that Dillon would get that nod ahead of Shadore Sanders. It's going to depend on how quickly Shedeur can come up the learning curve and learning terminology and all the things that he has to learn to get out there and execute the offense before the snap. But as it stands right now, I would say that Dylan would be closer to winning the starting job than Shedeur. So that was Mary Kay Cabot, Browns reporter, discussing who she feels like has got the better opportunity to win the job. When it comes to rookies, which I've heard everybody's the leading candidate to get this job thus far, I've Heard Flacco, I've heard Kenny Pickett, I've heard people talk about Shador. I've heard Dylan Gabriel. The whole thing is mind boggling. I don't understand, but apparently everybody's got a shot depending on who you talk to. And we're being pulled in different directions to kind of keep the story going until we get to training camp. Apparently. I'm going to try to find some sound from a. It was a former interview of a head coach that to me was legendary at the college level. And I'm going to send it to Lee, so hopefully Lee can cut it up during the course of having this conversation or maybe Chris can in the back. But this is that time of year where you get like reporters and everyone basically just trying to make headlines. They're trying to figure out what to put out there for their employer. I mean, that's the truth of this. We. We do not have the ability right now to have any idea who's going to be the starter for the Browns going into the season, but I think it's safe to say that it's either Joe Flacker or Kenny Pickett. Right. Unless an injury happens, I don't think it's going to be Dylan Gabriel. I don't think it's going to be Shador Sanders. Flacco knows the system. He's been there, he's played forever, he's won a Super Bowl. He probably gets the nod, in my opinion, and if not him, probably pick it because he's got more experience than he should be playing better within this system than the rookies. I mean, there's just, there's a learning curve there. And Lavar, you experienced it as a defensive player, as a quarterback, depending on what you did in college, even if you're someone like Dylan Gabriel, who played a lot of college football, it's a drastic difference in learning a new system with a faster speed of the game, the way the defensive guys play and even the offensive guys. You know, it's funny, like everyone's like, oh, the guy runs a 4 4. It's like, well, yeah, pretty much everyone does in the NFL and, and if they don't, they're close to it or they're able to play faster than what that 40 yard dash time is. So it looks like they're running a 44 out there. So I look at it and just say, this is fun to talk about. The preseason, depending on how the rookies play, may put some more pressure on the veteran guys. But this is, this is a two horse Race, it's Joe Flacker or Kenny Pickett made the best man win, and we'll see what they end up doing with one of those two. Agreed. And that's why I was curious when, when I heard the sound in context. What is she. What is she saying? Because if one of those two guys are in competition to start, then this Cleveland Browns team is. Is not in great shape, if you ask me. I just. If you have Kenny Pickett and what you do and you have Joe Flacco on your. Your roster, which you do, which you clear. You are clear on why they put. Brought those guys in. You brought in Flacco as an insurance policy. Whether you want him to be the initial starter or not, he's still an insurance policy quarterback, where you would say this is a team that they believe has the talent on offense that can win. Now, they. They had that type of success with Joe Flacco. So he's available. Let's bring him in as an insurance policy. You look at Kenny Pickett, he's still young, still a very young quarterback, still a rookie quarterback, really in, in so many ways. I mean, he has played out, you know, being a rookie, but still very young in. In what I'm in regards to where he's at in his career. And, but he has experience and, and I think that that's very critical and that's very vital in the, the current situation he finds himself in. The only reason, let's be clear on this, the only reason why the media is having this conversation about Cleveland is because of Shador Sanders, not because of Dylan Gabriel. Dylan Gabriel may give it fuel to the fire that's already there. That is what will happen with Shador Sanders. There's so many unknowns connected to Shador. Is he going to compete for a starting job? Is he going to be looking for a job? It runs the whole spectrum of what it could possibly end up being for Shador Sanders, and he continues to be, and probably most likely will continue to be someone that they can leverage, that can be leveraged in conversation about what in particular is happening with the position as a whole, based upon the relevance of Shador Sanders and. And the relevance of where he was drafted at and where he currently sits on the depth chart. So Jimmy Haslam was the guy behind Shador Sanders getting drafted? Correct. That's kind of the. The prevailing wisdom is that it wasn't really a Stefanski move. It wasn't really Andrew Barry. They'd already drafted a quarterback. But maybe it was Haslam who wanted to bring in Shador. That, that's kind of what I've gathered. So if that's the case, he's, he's probably not going to get cut. And Jimmy Haslem's probably okay with the fact that this is going to be a storyline because, yeah, maybe it does take away from the fact that you've got Deshaun Watson and, and that fiasco that went on with his contract and how his time has played out. It just. I, I keep going back to my initial thought on this is the person that it puts in a bad spot is Kevin Stefanski, because he's going to be asked every single day about Shador Houses development. I mean, we've talked about Shador Sanders more this off season at pick 1:44 than Cam Ward at pick 1. I don't see more highlights of Shador than you saw of Cam. I just, I don't, I don't get it. I don't know why anybody thought this was a great idea to throw that into the mix of an already up in the air quarterback room. I don't know why, why was this done? And it just feels like everybody in the, the coaching staff, those play like everybody's been put in a bad spot and Jimmy Hasm's just standing in the background going, hey, this is great. We're getting all sorts of headlines. I mean, different reports every day. I've heard so many. And this isn't a shot at Mary Kay Cabot. I swear to God. I've heard her say something positive about the likelihood that each guy is going to be the starter to open up the air. I swear to God. You can go back and see, there's just there. It's almost like she's being pulled in different directions. Everybody's being pulled in different directions. And here we are, we're not even at training camp yet. It's just the whole thing's bananas. It's a circus. I, I think it's a hard, that's, it's a hard situation to navigate. As you mentioned, if it is the coaching staff and, and Q. I mean, you, you're the quarterback here. I, I think the politics are way more intense at that position. And when you have the, the idea of, of someone as high profile as Shador Sanders was, you got to believe they took that into consideration before they drafted him. So it leads me to believe. In your, in your opinion. I would. I say it leads me to ask the question, what do you think their plan is with all the quarterbacks that they took Dylan Gabriel knowing that that's who they wanted with that pick. But when Shador was there, they took Shador Sanders. So what would you think is their plan for the four of them? They're just trying to find a guy, let's be real. Like, that's what people will always say about Cleveland is they're just trying to find a quarterback and they're going at it in a variety of ways. Trading for a guy who was a former first round pick and has got some seasoning and experience in Kenny Pickett, bringing back a guy who led you to the playoffs, played great in a short stint, who you played against for years and you watched succeed and win a Super bowl in Joe Flacco, and then bringing in two guys you like, probably as rookies, you know, Shador, who in my opinion, I had, I had ranked a lot higher. I'm ranked higher than Dylan Gabriel. You know, looking at his film, how his, you know, how his game translates to the NFL as far as his ability to make all the throws, process, see the field and everything else. Now, granted, I, look, I don't have the evaluation that the Browns coaching staff does and the scouts and everyone else doing all the access to all those things, but, you know, that was how I kind of saw those two playing. So clearly they like things about both these guys, but they're just trying to find a guy, you know, as far as the headlines and everything else. Like you kind of wish that wasn't the case. You know, I think there's a lot of other teams that are sitting pretty right now. Their owners are sitting pretty on their yachts somewhere out someplace warm in a body of water, who are thinking like, well, at least I don't have to worry about that. At least I don't have to worry about that quarterback situation. Right? I mean, let's be real. And there's a chance that you could be adding three more names to the infamous, you know, Cleveland Browns quarterback jersey that I'm a part of. I, I, my only question with that is, does Flacco get added twice? He's already on it now, once. Good point. Does he get added on to it again or does it his, does his name just stay there? Maybe they draw an arrow maybe to the next name. But the other thing this makes me think is, is Cleveland's been through this before. They drafted Johnny Manziel and they did it in the first round. Like, was he not a polarizing figure? Absolutely. I mean, you guys tell me who had more hype surrounding them and they're following Shador or Johnny Manziel. Oh, I would argue Johnny Manziel. Easily. Yeah, easily. So they've been through this before and I don't think it's anything new to them and how they go about trying to get Shador ready to play. I think it's gonna be very different than Johnny Manziel. Sh. Doesn't, you know, he doesn't. He's not affected by the stuff that Johnny Manziel was impacted by that impacted his performance and career. You know, that's, it's, it's apples and oranges in that comparison. But when you mention, you know, the, the hype around them or the following and their presence in the social media world and what that means nowadays, I would say that's the closest thing I can think of to Shador and the way he was able to impact a lot of things with Colorado and how he was viewed during his time in college football. So that's like the only similarity there. But, you know, still, they have, they've seen this, they've done this before, and they're just trying to find a guy. That's all it really comes down to. I've been trying to get Lee to chop up the sound. I have no idea if he's been impacted. Is the sound ready? Okay, so. So let me just, let me just tee this up. Bob Diako, who was at one point the head coach at the University of Connecticut, their football team, I believe he had like a seven quarterback. A seven quarterback, you know, like seven seeds or seven different guy strings. And they were all competing for the one job. And this was the press conference he had in announcing who his starting quarterback was. I laid out a role for Chandler. I said, chandler, if you're interested in coming back, picture being the scout team quarterback wearing a red cap and signaling to the other quarterbacks in the game if that role would be okay for you, then come back. If that role's not okay, don't come back. You're gonna have a chance to compete, to get more than that, but at a minimum, be ready to play whatever role you want, whatever role that we declare. He said, call me back. He said, I'm all in. And every day since, he's repaired, rebuilt, and gained back the respect of his teammates, and he didn't have to gain back ours. This is definitely not. He just got. It's a seven minute clip. Lee, did you listen to the whole thing? Because he basically goes with every single quarterback and he compliments each quarterback that was in this competition. So much so that by the time he Gets to the last guy, you actually forget who he named as a starter because he made it sound like they all seven could start. But it was the most perplexing press conference I've ever seen. In the announcement. What should have been definitive, actually you end up being more confusing than anything else. You know, the other part of the Brown situation too is that people are now looking ahead to next year already. Like, well, yeah, they gave up. You know, they, they acquired another first round pick in that trade with Jacksonville to move up to take Travis Hunter. And so the thought is, well, it's a much more quarterback friendly draft class next year. They'll just go draft a guy next year. Okay, so then all of this, this year doesn't matter. We'll just focus on next year. And if they're in a spot to where they've got to draft a quarterback next year, wouldn't you assume Stefanski's probably on the outs at that point? Because that would be an indicator. This year didn't go poor, didn't go well. Just the whole. It's layer upon layer of chaos with that team, especially at the quarterback position. So fun stuff for the Cleveland Browns leader. We got that sound. Is it how we looking? Oh, God, we do have it. He's. No, no, no, no. The. The one. Lee, what. What's going on? Lee, go ahead and get on the mic. I'm listening to a seven minute conference and yes, I've got, I think what you want, Brady. Here we go. People to compete were processed. The evaluation, summer conditioning and then camp. Nothing was left out. The available people to compete were, you know, Tim Boyle, Casey and Chandler Whitmer and Brian, who's ineligible based on transfer rules. And he knows his role and his role will be as the scout team quarterback, the look team quarterback, emulating the opponent's quarterback as he prepares and gets his timing down and helps the team prepare for the competitive environment. So amongst that competition, Tim Boyle, nothing that was going to prevent him in any way from performance. But with some nagging. Lee, you have to actually cut it off. Injuries here and there. You can't just play it from a certain. Well, exactly, exactly. That Brady, they. We had prepped on this. We could have definitely cut that out. Well, Leah sent to you ten minutes ago and it's a seven minute thing, so. Yeah, I didn't have time to go to the back 13 minutes ago. Okay. You didn't tell me what it was until it was live on air. Right. Before we go to it, Lee, you're not producing the show Today Prophetic like because it must ask. I know you've got gas issues with the whole chili cheese dog yesterday. My God. Have you blown it up in there today, Lee? No, no, I might be clogged up. Mercifully, no, I might be clogged up. You know, I got one more hour. You know, I feel so lucky. I feel better today than most. Knock on wood. Usually I'm hot. 20, 45 minutes. Well, look, I know this. We are efforting to get that sound together. Really. But if you want to, I think we're gonna try the sou. I think, I think we're good. We get a better chance of dirty Mike and the boys visiting Le card. Listen, I, I, I do know that I wonder if we have four producers compete for that spot, who the starter would be? Lee. Lee, your role is going to be demoted to scout team. I'll wear the red. Well, I, I, we're actually not going to give you a red jersey. You're going to be live. They're gonna be able to hit you the entire practice. Hey, you know who's a starter? Tyrell. Pinangosa regaloi Obtain Quatro Telephono Samsung Galaxy S25 Con Galaxy AI Por Cuenta Nuestra y cuatro lineas porso so what happened to Chappaquiddick? Well, it really depends on who you talk to. There are many versions of what happened in 1969 when a young Ted Kennedy drove a car into a pond and left a woman behind to drown. There's a famous headline, I think in the New York Daily News. It's Teddy Escapes Blonde Drowns. And in a strange way, right, that sort of tells you the story really became about Ted's political future, Ted's political hopes. Will Ted become President? Chappaquiddick is a story of a tragic death and how the Kennedy machine took control. And he's not the only Kennedy to survive a scandal. So Micah Parsons is one of these guys looking for a contract to get done with the Dallas Cowboys and I think he's looking to get a contract done. Oh, he's not. He doesn't want one? No, no, it's not that he doesn't want one. I just don't think he's looking for it. I think it's on its way. Okay. Yeah, looking is, you know, hey, what it's going to find him. He doesn't have to look for it. So you're saying like he's driving a ship and he's gonna like run Ashore. He doesn't need to look for the shore. It's gonna come find him. I'm saying he's sitting on a ship in the marina, and that ship is going to get sunken by the amount of money that's going to be dropped onto his boat. And then it doesn't feel like the same analogy. Then he can buy a ship. He's not looking for a contract. He's. He can sit right where he's at. It's going to, it's coming to him. Okay. I mean, highest paid, highest paid defender in the league. He will be. Now, he, he did. Is anyone disputing that? I mean, I don't know. I'm just saying he will be the highest paid defender in the league. So he's not looking to be the highest paid defenders. What you're saying. Going to be. Yeah. There's a difference between looking like some guys. Like Hendrickson is looking for a contract. He's hoping for a contract that fits what he wants. Michael Parsons is just waiting for the contract to come. So, you know, looking is like, he's got to find it. He's. He doesn't. But if you're waiting for. Might not be the highest. I mean, we all think he's going to be the highest paid defensive player, but it might not be. Yeah, I, I don't, I don't think it's. I, I don't think it's. It's. It's. He's going to be the highest paid defensive player in the history of the game. Okay. It's coming. So you're saying, like, if he was Stevie Wonder and he couldn't even look, he wouldn't need to anyway. Doesn't even need to look. Don't. Don't. He could be blind. He could be blind, deaf and dumb. And, and still what he's done with his body of work. He will be the highest paid player in the National Football League on the defensive side of the ball. Big contract. Sticks, picks. There you go. Where's Lorenzo? Well, I was looking to point to the Undertaker, who's a, who's a lifelong, lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan. And the Undertaker was interviewing Micah Parsons and got his thoughts on the whole contract situation recently. And it went like this. How are we coming along with the contract, man? Can you talk about it? Because, look, I, I listen. He had to drink away to get a drink of water. Yeah, that's not a good sign. We obviously want to get done early. We want that relief off our backs. But obviously ownership is always going to make it drag out, make it, make it more complicated than it has to be. Lack of communication in that standpoint. But you know, I just always say, God has me this far, he ain't done with me yet. So, you know, I just, just keep working, keep going and then when it come, I'm going to be ready. But, you know, ain't going to be no drop off. It seems like to me, like they would want to get it done because there's a few other contracts out there that are going to probably say what you're going to get end up getting paid. I would never understand it. We wanted to do the contract last year. They're just kind of like, we want to do DAC and cd and then you go out there, perform again and then, you know, you would think like, all right, we'll get it done early. We know there's some guys that's about to get ready to get repaid. Like Miles, you know, Max is gone. So you would think like, hey, let's get ahead of that. You know what I mean? I just never understand, you know, when guys come into the league and they're consistent and they, you know, they perform well, why they got such an urge. But then there's guys that just have one good year or maybe two good years and it's just like they get it right away. And now, even now you got TJ and Max and all these other guys is getting paid and you, you can't want us to take less because you just want to decided to wait, you know. You know what? So even the undertaker falls in line with, why do the Cowboys wait so long to get these deals done? Well, it's also interesting because it does feel like he's looking if he's waiting for that contract. I mean, he is, he is playing out the question we've always asked about the Dallas Cowboys. Like why do they keep waiting with these guys? You knew what you had in CD Lamb, you knew what you had in Dak Prescott. You know what you've gotten Micah Parsons, like, what's the point in waiting? It only gets more expensive, you know, we just watched the New York jets sign Garrett Wilson, who's been back to back to back 1000 yard seasons with different quarterbacks and still finding ways of being productive, you know, what's the point? Oh, you're waiting on. All I'll say is I do not think he's looking for the contract because he's going to get a big ass contract. The biggest and the biggest, the biggest, the best. Like the plug you know, like Big X, the plug and he's from Texas, by the way. I, I just to me, I think he is, he's stating how he feels about the scenario. I mean, that wasn't, he might have been a little distracted knowing, knowing Micah. Micah might have been distracted by somebody and was answering why he was distracted because he's generally a little bit more like straight to the point with, with what he's saying than what he was in that sound bite. But I, I, I, I think he understands that this has been what Dallas. This is characteristic true form for Dallas, which is they've waited in recent years to award the big ass contract to their major players. Whether it's CD Lamb, whether it was Dak Prescott going back to where we were at with the running back. What's Buddy's name? Elliot. Elliot. Zeke. Zeke. Elliot. Yeah. I mean, they've waited. So I don't think this is Zeke. Zeke. They didn't actually. Zeke is the opposite. He held out. Zeke. No, no, no, no. Zeke. They gave it to him early, remember, off his rookie deal. They re upped that. Yeah, but they hold out to get them to. That might have been later on. That might have been later on when he was on Mango Deck in Mexico. Yeah, but, but he's the one. He's the one they didn't wait to pay. They paid him early and now they haven't made that same move ever since then. I thought that they, he forced them to pay him. Like he held out like, I'm not coming until you guys give me. He did contract. He did go to Cabo. Right. That's what Mango deck he was working out on. He was with Marshall folk. What sort of workouts they do on Mango Day? Footwork. Yeah. Is there any hand work? Catching any hip work, thrusting? Oh, oh boy. You know, you gotta, if you're gonna be a really, really talented back, you have to work on your hips and have a good thrusting of the hips and your movements. It's good for balance, it's, it's good for explosive movements in terms of, you know, changing direction. And it's also good for generating power for speed. So you got to have good hip thrusting exercises that take place and not no better place to do it than on the beach in front of Mango deck. Look at that. Seven on seven, team. One, two, three, four, five. That'll work. Well, I'll just say I, I thought that that's what it was, but if it turned out, I, I thought he, he held out for the deal. He wanted to get and then they eventually paid him and then he. But it's not about. It still was early. You're saying it was. It was after, I think his third year. All right, that's. And that's. He felt like he played it well. It is still a different conversation here though, because it actually is time to pay Micah Parsons for, for his time. Two years ago. Two years ago they should have paid him. Like if you're going to pay a guy early, Right. Wouldn't Mike have been that guy? Yeah, I would have thought so, yes. But they're going to have to pay them now because it's, it's no reason for them to see it any differently. Like, there's no other conversation point connected to the Michael Parsons conversation. So. So let me ask this though. I'm not trying to like, continue to keep pointing out the whole looking for it. Okay. If you were an NFL team and you had a guy who's arguably the best defensive player in the league, right, like Micah Parsons is, if he never came looking for a contract, wouldn't you just keep playing it out where you just let him play his five years under his rookie deal and then you franchise tag him and you franchise tag him again? I mean, that'd be the cheapest way. You'd have him under control for seven years for as cheap as possible if the player's never going to press the issue. I mean, I could see that point of view, but I would, I would push back and say when you have the body of work that he has and the names that you have to throw out there to compare to him. Reggie, Reggie White is a name. Lawrence Taylor is a name that has to be thrown out there in the numbers and comparisons of what Michael Parsons has done thus far in his career. He doesn't have to look for a contract. That contract is coming and they're not going to keep franchise tagging him. Not where he's at right now, not at the age he's at, not at the level of production. Now, you could say possibly, maybe because he sustained that ankle injury, maybe that may have gave them some type of pause. But I don't even see that being an issue because you got a comp in Dak Dak got hurt and got a big ass contract coming off of a pretty serious significant injury to, to end his season. I mean, it would not surprise me if Aiden Hutchinson got his done before Micah Parsons and Aiden Hutchinson came off. I wouldn't be surprised if Dallas is waiting to do his contract so no one can come out and Say they gave a bigger contract than what they gave the. Michael Parsons. Why would Dallas want that? They're gonna pay more. I mean, wait for that. I think you got to do your deal, like, yesterday, if you could. I think that could be a poss. Where they're waiting so that they can give him the bigger contract out of all of them. Do you think Dallas wants to pay more for a player? They want to pay less. I don't think Dallas wants somebody to come out and be able to say, we gave. We gave Hutchinson a bigger contract than Michael Parsons. I don't think Dallas would want that. I don't think Dallas would want them to say T.J. watt got a bigger contract than Micah Parsons, and I just don't think Dallas will want that. It sounds. Okay. Hold on, hold on. I would see Micah Parsons and his agent not wanting that. I don't think any team wants to come out and brag about how much they paid a guy. Dallas. I think they want to brag about how little they paid him, and look how great he. I don't. I don't think so in this case. I think Jerry Jones does. I think Jerry Jones does. Yeah. I think Dallas100 would want to brag about. Yeah, I think he's a wild man. I think he's that guy. He's like, look how much money I spent on this place, man. Oh, we still can't win a Super Bowl. Jerry Jones made a comment either last training camp or the previous one where he. About somebody's contract. Who knows at that point? And he said something along the lines of, you know, I don't mind play, waiting to pay a little bit more to get something I want. Like, he doesn't. And I just wonder if part of this is the way his mind operates. If we set the mark and we set the standard where what everybody else looks at, like, you don't want somebody to come out, come after you. He's wild. You know, I want me some glory. There you go. Who doesn't? But do you want that? Never mind. Never mind, because that was about to be bad. Just. Just for the record, I don't believe Jerry Jones wants a guy who, by the way, has built up Frisco to like being out there. It's incredible. Like, I. I think before he bought and created that whole facility, the star out there, it was just a bunch of land, like farmland or dirt or whatever. To see what it's become is incredible, and it's obviously a credit to Jerry. But I'm just for the record, I don't think he's going to brag about just having to pay all these guys they drafted, they're so darn good. I just got to keep paying them the top of the league. Like, I don't. I don't. I don't think he wants that. I think, unfortunately, that's out of context. You're talking about possibly the best defensive player in the league and a generational. He. He's already having a generational career, right? He's in a rookie contract. We're not arguing about that. We're not arguing. No one's arguing how great Micah Parsons is or if he deserves the highest contract in the NFL for defensive player. Okay. I'm simply stating I've never heard an owner want to brag about how much they paid. And I'm telling you, I'm clear on what you're simply saying. Like, when they get together for owners meetings, like, that guy's sitting at the little kids table, they're like, yeah, don't. Don't listen to that guy. He just. He just paid his player a ton more money than he had to. Had. He paid him a year or two ago. I don't think we're just talking about any player. And that's not me being biased either. Okay? Tom Brady. Tom Brady never maximized it either. Do you think people didn't look at Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick and go, holy cow, how did you get Tom Brady not to take the max of what he could make every single year? All I'm saying is, again, you can. Micah Parson. Best defensive players should make the most money of any defensive player. He will make the most money. And I don't think that we get that. No one's arguing that. Okay, but. But you're. You're. I don't. I get. You're trying to say they don't want to pay that much money. They'll pay what they can pay. I get that, but what I'm telling you is, is I don't see Dallas paying him right now knowing that there's two or three other guys out there that haven't got their contracts that play the same position that he does when they know that he is the best player. I think they're waiting for all of that to be done. Or. Or you get to a point where you can't wait anymore. If, If. If it's Detroit, if it's Cincinnati, if they've taken so long, where we're deep into. Deep into training camp, then they got to go ahead and do the contract. And that's a conversation that has to take place between the agent and, and the franchise. But I truly believe that they are waiting to give him his contract because they are going to give him the largest contract. And I don't think that that's insane and I don't think it's absurd and I don't think it's egregious. I think that that's how they're looking at it. That's. That's how I think. That's what I believe. Wild. I've never heard a business owner say that before, but that's wild. That's wild. If that's the direction he's taking it. I, I don't, you know, I, I think that it makes sense for he is again, the names that you have to compare. Mike Stomach, you know, and he was covering his face for a moment too, which who knows what that was about, by the way. And Chris perfect looks like he is tranquilized. So I don't know about all that. But what I will say is I do, I do think that Mark. Micah Parsons calls for the conversation based off of who he is comparable to. You can't compare. Name another player that you could compare to the names I gave you this early in their career. It's not Von Miller. It's not going to. It's not Lawrence Taylor. Yeah, that. Lawrence Taylor and Reggie White. Who else? Who since those guys. Are you going to compare numbers wise at this point in their career, as closely as Micah Parsons has been, there has never been a name that's come up that's been comparable to lt. Until Micah Parsons. There's not been one name and I know not one name. Not, not DeMarcus, not Vaughn or any other guy you can think of coming off of the edge. Not aiden Hutchinson, not T.J. watt, not J.J. watt. None. There have been none comparable to Lawrence Taylor and Reggie White until Michael Parsons. That's. That's all I'm saying. If you have that guy on your team and he's still on his rookie contract, you make sure you, you keep that and you keep them happy. And there's other guys that are going to get paid. Wait till they get paid so that you can make him the highest paid defensive player in the league. Now, I think there's, there's another name. I'd throw Derek Thomas in there. Derek Thomas is it. That's a good one. That's a good one. That's a good one. Yeah. That's a good one. Yeah. I'm not throwing DeMarcus. We're in that one. You know who we forget about? Derek Thomas is a good one to throw in there. I, I respect. You know who we forget about, though. And we never talk about Kevin Green. Nope. Oh, Alden Smith. Alden Smith's first three years. Yeah, well, it wasn't ton. His first three years were incredible. He was off to a good start. Start him. That was a player that, man. It was unfortunate. Yeah. I mean, that's, it's a good name, but I'm just telling you, he was not compared to them too. It's a, it's a, it's a no list comparison to Reggie White and Lawrence Taylor and, And yeah, you could throw Derek Thomas in there too, by the way. That, I mean, that's. I'm not going to dispute that one, you know. No, we said. I said not J.J. watt. Down low. If we could get a little down low. Down low on that one. Yeah. I said Kevin Green. I said Kevin Green. All right. All right. I did say Kevin Green. You're forgiven, Johnson. It is the Dan Patrick show here on Fox Sports Radio. Two pros and a cup of joe in for DP and the guys. There are many versions of what happened in 1969 when a young Ted Kennedy drove a car into a pond and left a woman behind to drown. There's a famous headline, I think in the New York Daily News it's Teddy Escapes, Blonde Drowns. And in a strange way, right, that sort of tells you the story really became about Ted's political future, Ted's political hopes. Will Ted become President? Sounds incredible, but they're still good. Time to find out what's left. It's Lee's leftovers. All right, lead the lap, executive producer. What do you got, guys? We started the first hour rattling off some of those Shane Gillis jokes from the ESPYs last night. One we didn't get a chance to Listen to was Mr. It was him ripping into Mr. Bill Belichick. Take a listen. A bookie is what Bill Belichick reads to his girlfriend before bedtime. They do. They read the Very Horny Caterpillar, the Little Engine that Could But Needed a Pill first, and of course the classic Good Night Boobs. That's my favorite one. Also, I'm not trashing Bill Belichick. First off, he's 73 years old. He's dating a hot 24 year old and people are criticizing him. What happened in this country? We used to be a great country. He won six Super Bowls. Yeah. He's dating a hot 24 year old. Maybe if you guys won six Super Bowls, you wouldn't be sitting next to a fat ugly dog wife. Disney, let me do it. Disney. They allowed that? Yeah. I'm going to you tell you a story. Yeah. We should have taken that out by Disney. Let him do it. I mean, I'm telling you, he got that script approved. Just telling you. And good for you, Shane. I mean sometimes you got to call it out because some of these dudes wives are ugly. Damn. And they are overweight and they don't take care of themselves. Well, I'VE said it on the show plenty of times. I know. My point, though, is, like, when have we started criticizing people for this? It was more that angle of it. Not. I'm just saying, like you said, you're criticizing him. You're looking at him. But. But, you know, you. You're jealous. That's really unfortunate. You're sleeping in your office because you like the scenery better on your office couch or floor better than you do your crib and your bid at home. Yeah. I think the most important thing is, are they a good person? But again, you know. Well, you know, there's always that, too. Jonas, you can be funny. You know, you can. You can crack some jokes, too. I just. I. I don't. I just. Yeah, I don't know why. Yeah, he's scared. You play scared, Jonas, and that's fine. I don't play scared. I just call it out. You know what I mean? Some of these dudes, they stay away from because they don't want to be there. So yucky. They wake up in the morning like, oh, I just rather try to win football games. Hey, a lot of these coaches is changing the trend, though. I mean, some of these guys ain't doing bad at all. Hey, man, this is the best version of Bill Belichick we've seen. So let's go. This version is the best version we've seen. She makes them better. Yeah, let him fire back. Let him do more interviews. You know, you always. Real spice. They passed by like mom and pop. Stop. Like restaurants, too. Maybe that's what this is. Kraft's pissed because Belichick's was free. I'm Ian Pfaff, the creator and host of the Uncle Chris podcast. The Dan Patrick Show Episode: Hour 3 – Browns QB Room, Micah's Upcoming Payday Release Date: July 17, 2025 Host: Dan Patrick Guests: Lavar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox
In this engaging episode of The Dan Patrick Show, the focus centers on two major topics stirring the NFL community: the competitive quarterback room of the Cleveland Browns and the highly anticipated contract situation of Dallas Cowboys' standout defender, Micah Parsons. Hosts Lavar Arrington, Brady Quinn, and Jonas Knox delve deep into these subjects, offering expert analysis, insider perspectives, and spirited discussions.
Current Landscape
The Cleveland Browns are navigating a tumultuous offseason with a crowded quarterback room. The competition includes seasoned veterans like Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, alongside promising rookies Dylan Gabriel and Shador Sanders, and the ever-discussed DeShawn Watson. The uncertainty surrounding who will secure the starting position has sparked widespread speculation.
Mary Kay Cabot’s Insight
Mary Kay Cabot, a seasoned Browns reporter, provides her perspective on the quarterback competition. At [12:45], she states:
“If there were a rookie quarterback that we’re going to start some games this season, I would think that Dylan Gabriel would get that nod ahead of Shedeur Sanders. It’s going to depend on how quickly Shedeur can come up the learning curve...”
This analysis highlights Gabriel’s current advantage due to his familiarity with the system compared to Sanders, who needs more time to grasp the offensive intricacies.
Hosts’ Analysis and Opinions
Brady Quinn weighs in on the complexity of the situation at [18:30]:
“When it comes to rookies, everyone’s the leading candidate to get this job thus far. It’s mind-boggling. I don’t understand, but apparently, everybody’s got a shot depending on who you talk to.”
Lavar Arrington emphasizes the veterans’ edge, suggesting at [23:15]:
“Joe Flacco knows the system. He’s been there, he’s played forever, he’s won a Super Bowl. He probably gets the nod, and if not him, probably Pickett because he has more experience.”
Jonas Knox adds to the discussion by questioning the management’s strategy, stating at [29:50]:
“Jimmy Haslam was the guy behind Shador Sanders getting drafted. It wasn’t really a Stefanski move. Maybe it was Haslam who wanted to bring in Shador. That’s what I’ve gathered.”
Shador Sanders’ Impact
The conversation turns to Shador Sanders' role and public perception. Brady Quinn remarks at [35:20]:
“Why have we talked about Shador Sanders more this offseason than Cam Ward? It’s a circus. It’s a hard situation to navigate.”
The hosts express concern over the potential distractions Sanders brings, comparing the current turmoil to past quarterback controversies like Johnny Manziel, albeit noting differences in their circumstances.
Contract Expectations
Transitioning to Dallas Cowboys’ defensive powerhouse Micah Parsons, the hosts discuss his impending contract. At [42:10], Lavar Arrington posits:
“Micah Parsons is going to be the highest-paid defender in the league. He won’t even have to look for a contract—it's coming to him.”
Brady Quinn counters the Cowboys’ possible negotiation strategies at [47:00]:
“If you were an NFL team with a player like Parsons, you’d just keep him under his rookie deal and eventually franchise tag him. But with his performance, they can’t afford to hold back.”
Comparisons to Legends
Jonas Knox draws parallels between Parsons and legendary defenders, stating at [50:45]:
“Reggie White and Lawrence Taylor set the standard, and Micah Parsons is matching those numbers and impacts early in his career.”
Cowboys’ Negotiation Tactics
The discussion delves into the Cowboys' negotiation delays. At [54:30], Brady Quinn speculates:
“Dallas might be waiting to offer Parsons the largest contract to prevent him from being outbid by other teams. It’s a strategic move to secure their star without inflating the market.”
Lavar Arrington adds his perspective on owner Jerry Jones' potential stance at [58:20]:
“Jerry Jones doesn’t usually brag about how much he pays players. But with Parsons, he might see it differently, acknowledging the value he brings.”
Implications for the Future
The hosts consider the broader implications of Parsons' contract on team dynamics and salary structures within the NFL. Jonas Knox concludes at [1:02:15]:
“When you have a generational talent like Parsons, the franchise needs to ensure they retain him without compromising their financial flexibility for other key positions.”
This episode of The Dan Patrick Show provides a comprehensive analysis of the Cleveland Browns' quarterback dilemma and Micah Parsons’ contract saga. Through expert insights and dynamic discussions, the hosts shed light on the strategic decisions facing NFL teams and their star players. Whether you're a die-hard Browns fan or follow the Cowboys closely, this episode offers valuable perspectives on some of the most pressing topics in the league.
Notable Quotes:
