This is Devin, and we're best friends and journalists with a new podcast called no Such Thing, where we get to the bottom of questions like that. Why are you screaming? I can't expect what to do now? If the rule was the same, go off on me. I deserve it, you know? Lock him up. Listen to no Such thing on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. No Such Thing. Have you ever looked at a piece of abstract art or music or poetry and thought that's just a bunch of pretentious nonsense? That's exactly what two bored Australian soldiers set out to prove during World War II when they tricked the literary world with their intentionally bad poetry, setting off a major scandal. We break down the truth, the lies, and the poetry in between on Hoax, a new podcast hosted by me, Lizzy Logan, and me, Dana Schwartz. Every episode, Hoax explores an audacious fraud or ruse from history. Listen to Hoax on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hello, I'm John Lithgow. Season 2 of Good Game with Sarah Spain is underway. We just welcomed one of my favorite people, an incomparable soccer icon, Megan Rapinoe, to the show. And. And we had a blast. Take a listen. Sue and I were, like, riding the lime bikes the other day, and we're like, wee. People ride bikes because it's fun. We got more incredible guests like Megan in store, plus news of the day and more. So make sure you listen to Good Game with Sarah Spain on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Brought to you by Novartis, founding partner of iHeart Women's Sports Network. You are listening to the Dan Patrick show on Fox Sports Radio. It's the final hour on this gangs all here, Minister of Humor Fritzi Seton, Mar Pauli, yours truly and you, whether you're at home watching on Peacock, our streaming partner, or perhaps in your car headed to work commuting, we say good morning to our radio affiliates around the country. 877-3DP shows the number, especially on Monday, best and worst of the weekend. And operator Tyler sitting by. He'll take your phone calls. Got a new poll question. We talked a lot about Scotty Scheffler winning the BMW, fifth win of the season. And he does have a great cameo in the Happy Gilmore 2 movie. And you know, I think that's one of those, that he's making fun of himself when he got arrested and the scene towards the end of the movie, laughing at himself. But still, Scotty Scheffler is, I find him interesting, but then I'm different. I find him interesting because it's like he's trying not to be interesting or maybe doesn't know how to be interesting. There are a lot of guys who get more attention. Ricky Fowler still gets more attention than Scotty Scheffler. And I don't even think Ricky made the cut to go to the Tour Championship, but he's still Ricky and he's going to get, you know, Jordan Spieth, they're going to get more attention than Scotty Scheffler. Rory McElroy get more attention. I, yeah, Bryson Dechambeau, Scotty just, this is what he's paid to do. This is what he does. He just goes out and wins. And even the chip, you know, that's, that's one of those, not career defining, but it's one of those career highlights that you have that will play that, you know, Tiger had one at the Players Championship where he somehow had this long putt, Gary Coke on the call, you know, better than most, better than Moat. And then it goes in and he's had the, you know, the chip on 16 at Augusta. I mean, Tiger had many, many, many of those moments. Scotty Scheffler doesn't have highlights. He's not, he's not a great highlight guy. If he played basketball, he probably wouldn't make too many. He'd be like Tim Duncan and be like. And. And Tim Duncan with bank shot, he had 25 and 17. That's it. It's like, we gotta. We gotta put Tim Duncan in the highlights. Yeah, but he didn't have any highlights. Put him in anyway with a nice bounce pass or something. That's Scotty Scheffler. All right, Seaton, we'll have a poll question for the final hour of the program. Talked a little bit about preseason football and what it means, what it doesn't mean if you're highlighting a player. And keep in mind there are times when somebody will throw an interception. Dylan Gabriel threw an interception. He's a rookie quarterback with the Browns. Well, the wide receiver failed him. But it's on Dylan Gabriel. And if you're looking at this competition, or so called competition between Dylan Gabriel and Shador Sanders, it's, well, Shador Sanders played air free ball. Yeah, he did. But that interception's not on Dylan Gabriel. And Dylan Gabriel played pretty well. Now, you may not have watched because it wasn't Shador Sanders. And that's where you're going to take somebody's opinion on it. And that's where Paulie and I were talking about this. We wanted to watch every snap of Shador Sanders just so we were fair, because I didn't want it. I don't want to take somebody else's word. If it's available, I can watch it. Then I should watch it. Then I can give you a true assessment. And my assessment was he looked comfortable. That's the best compliment I can give you. If you're a quarterback, you're a rookie quarterback, you look comfortable, confident. And he did. He looked like he had command of the offense. That's great. Even if you make a, you know, a mistake, a turnover, a fumble, you know, you. You kind of run yourself into a sack, it's okay. What do you do after that? That's where you, you know, you can become good or great with what you do after that. And you know, to the contrary, you can have a substandard career because you don't respond. You don't, you know, get up and do something positive. But I, I liked what I saw, but I like what I saw with Dylan Gabriel as well. Now, I don't think they're ready for the hall of Fame yet. I do think Shador is going to start at some point for the Browns this year. So, like Jackson Dart might be good enough to win the starting role with the Giants, but he's Going to have to wait because you bring in Russell Wilson and Russ is probably going to start. Here is the. Here's the interesting part of the situation with the Giants. They have, statistically, I think, the hardest schedule in the NFL. But if you're the coach and the gm, how do you approach this year? If. If I'm the owner of the Giants and I truly believe in Brian Dable as my head coach, I say to Brian, you and Joe Shane, the gm, are not getting fired. I want you to go out and coach this team as we prepare for the future. And by doing so now, I don't have to play Russ the whole time, because if I look at that schedule, there's a chance the giants are 2 and 8, 1 and 9. I think you got to approach this and say, is Jackson dart our future? Get him ready to be your future. And the future is now. But if they're coaching for their jobs, then Russell Wilson, then you stunt the growth of the franchise, in my opinion, because now you're going to play and you're going to feel like we have to win. And if we don't win, we're losing our jobs, which might be the case, but you have a very, very difficult schedule. Yeah. Paul and Russell Wilson, assuming he's a starter, at Washington, at Dallas, host the Chiefs, host the Chargers. Not an easy one in the first four games. Yeah, I mean, you could go for the first like 10 games, and there's no easy games for them. We're also talking about success in the preseason that you have. You know, Stetson Bennett Jr. The fourth, put up really good numbers for the Rams. And, you know, he throws for three, 24. He threw 40 times. All right. I don't care if it's preseason or not. The, the guys that he's playing against are professionals. So I'll go. Okay. I mean, I, I'll. I'll grade on a curve here, but I don't know if you know Reed's. Reed Senate. Does anybody know Reed Senate? I didn't think so. He threw for 343 yards, and this was 20, 21. He. He did that against the Bengals. He threw 343. Tyler Bray, remember Tyler Bray, Chicago Bears? He threw for 334 yards, 20, 19. How about Ryan Griffin? Anybody? Anybody? He threw for 330 yards for the Buccaneers in 2019. That's the other RG he's the first one. There's RG then there's RG2, RG3. Got all the headlines. But the original OGRG right there. Nate Sudfeld. How about Nader for the Eagles? Threw for 312 back in 2018. Will Greer of the Cowboys 2023 through for 305. All right, well, yeah. Let's go, Will. All in the preset. Trey Lance. He threw for 323 for the Cowboys last year. Bray Hunt. Brett Hundley, Packers, 2015. 315. In other words, do the numbers really mean anything in the preseason? Probably not. Oh, I just saw where Cam Newton's number is going to be retired by Auburn. I'm set to do his podcast tomorrow, but he's having me on for an hour. Is that normal for Cam Newton? That's a long time. Is his podcast an hour? Yes. Mark, you and Cam have a different synergy. You went to radio roll for Cam, which you would never have done before.
Fritzi Seton
So I think you and him are.
Dan Patrick
Going to have a great convo, but normally it's about a half hour. Oh, okay. Yeah, I, I. And it kind of surprised me when I met Cam and he just said, I want to learn. I want to be great. I want you to help me. And he goes, I want to learn how to interview people. And I always appreciate that when. When somebody who doesn't know how to do it ask how to do it. And it says a lot about him because I think he's very charismatic and has a very popular podcast. Hopefully, I won't hurt those numbers. Couple of phone calls in here. Sarah on Cape Cod. Sarah, thank you for holding. What do you have for me today? Thanks for taking my call. I was going to do a best and a worst, but before I get to that, I just wanted to say that I think I'm going to stop calling you DP and start calling you CP For Captain Patrick, because that visual of you on a pontoon boat was great. So. So my worst of the week. Thank you.
Fritzi Seton
My worst of the week was you.
Dan Patrick
Guys not being on all week, although.
Fritzi Seton
They replayed the one week without Fritzi, which I didn't know if that was.
Dan Patrick
Intentional or not, but that was one of my favorite weeks in 20 years, so. And my best of the week was after, like, 15 years of searching. I'm big into movies, and I love when you guys talk about them. And my three favorite movies are the Dirty Dozen Adventures and Babysitting, and it's the dazzling dunks and basketball bloopers with Frank Layden and Marv Albert that you guys talked about a couple of weeks ago, and I finally found a copy online, and so I hope. Thank you, Sarah. I Don't. I don't pick what Peacock shows when we're not on. I did not have any influence in the fact that they had a week's worth of shows when Fritzi was not on. Maybe that was when you were in London. Maybe that's when. That one. That would make sense. Yeah. I did not pick that. I never would do something like that. Never. But thank you, Sarah. Yeah. I had some boating issues. My pontoon boat ran out of gas one day, and then I. Then I hit a rock. Hit a rock. Guessing. I'll tell you what. There is a former producer, director type who used to work for this show who would have loved the idea of you in a captain's outfit on a pontoon boat. Inside joke. Wow. Well, there's. All right, so the. The joke is every time we were going to, like, shoot a big promo or something like that, Dan always ended up in some type of outfit. Like, okay, Dan is the pilot of this boat. Or, you know, they have this ship. Or Dan. Okay, Dan is the pilot of this airplane. Dan's the head astronaut. Okay? And he's in the outfit. And every time we were shooting something, you're always in a big outfit. And we were like, man, what's the story with that? Was Dan always the guy? Okay, Dan is the general, and he's dressed up like a. I think that guy had a fetish of me in a uniform. Wings. Yeah. He. He would be like, I want you in a uniform. We're getting Dan in a baseball uniform. Okay. All right. It doesn't matter. It has nothing to do. So the concept is like, Hunt for Red October. And he's in the cap and roll. That a submarine?
Fritzi Seton
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
He plays Sean Connor. Yeah, yeah. Yes. I'm gonna pick out his outfit. Yes. Dan is the admiral. Okay. And he's got all these. Oh, yeah. Okay. He's Richard Gere, an officer and a gentleman. He's got his. His military whites on. Yes, I like that. I don't know why I'm talking like this. Seaton, you go flying by in a skateboard. Like, okay, I'm 45. We were doing the skateboard bit for 20 years. I know, I know. Seaton came to me and he goes, I think I outgrown the skateboarding. I don't know, maybe we could just try a new angle, you know? Like, I do have a mortgage. I pay my bills. I have a real job. You know, Like, I have a child. I have a wife that depends on me. Get over the skateboard. Kevin in la. Hi, Kevin. Best and worst of the weekend. Hey, Dan. First off, as a degree holder of broadcast journalism from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism, I have much respect for your show and you are the best interviewer I've heard onto the best of the weekend.
Fritzi Seton
Best of the weekend is my 7.

Fritzi Seton
So like a dad, I'll giddy with a new present. I bought tickets for Saturday and Sunday's.
Dan Patrick
Game to watch a San Diego thing.
Fritzi Seton
So that was the worst of the weekend.
Dan Patrick
His first two games at Dodger Stadium.
Fritzi Seton
Watching the Padres just do nothing.
Dan Patrick
So much respect to you guys. Enjoy the rest of your day. Thank you, Kevin. You start them early. It's, you know, sometimes it's your dad was a fan of this team or his dad a fan of the team and then it's passed on to you. Sometimes it's child abuse when you go, why? Why am I a fan of the Browns? Because I was. And your dad was. And your granddad was. Okay, Zach and Knoxville. Hi, Zach. What's on your mind today? Adp. Thanks for taking my call. Best and worst of the weekend. Best was seeing Francisco Lindor out there in the Little League World Series. He plays the game with the Little League spirit and that was. That was really cool. The worst was the. I was watching the Manchester United Arsenal game. I had it on in the background and I turned my back for one second and missed the only goal of the game as a match on the pitch there for Seaton. And just want to say one thing nice about Todd. Oh, that's the joke. Oh, wow. Nothing. Silence. He can't think of one thing nice.
Fritzi Seton
To say about me.
Dan Patrick
I don't know how I'm gonna go on with my day. Well, you did encourage people who say suck it back row to call in and explain why they want you to suck it. Yes. And this would be the exact opposite of that suggestion with that gentleman. Well, you could kind of read between the lines of what he was saying there. He would definitely be a suck at guy, but this time decided to be more pointed towards Todd. It was unique, it was creative. Seaton was in the front row and then McLovin left and then he came back there. So by proxy he is suck it back row. I'm absorbing might not be fair to him. Yeah. Kind of taken on that, you know, added, you know, Suck it. Spillover. Yeah, it's okay. It's okay. I'm here for Todd. I'm hoping to balance it out a little bit more. And no amount of soccer scarves have been able to block all the. The hate back here. What's going on? I know Seaton always get. He gets these soccer scarves, and it's basically a curtain at, you know, because we had the. The window there that we put up. McLovin wanted that because Todd was, you know, hacking up along, and McLovin said, Can you protect me? And put up a glass partition here? And Seaton has the glass partition and he has the soccer scarves. So if he doesn't want to see Todd, he can just cover that up, hear it, or see it is a little bit of an impromptu wall. But see, like, Todd doesn't even notice, though. Like, I put the Brooklyn FC soccer scarf right in Todd's shot so that then when they show him, it says Brooklyn. He's a Brooklyn guy. He's pretty cool.
Fritzi Seton
All right.
Dan Patrick
Is that just for me? All right, let me take a break. We'll talk to Gerald McCoy, a former NFL player, I think the third pick overall back in 2010 out of Oklahoma. He works for NFL Network. And get his thoughts on what he's seen so far with the preseason. We're back after that. Back with him after this. On the Dan Patrick Show. And on our new show, no Such Thing, we get to the bottom of questions like these. Join us as we talk to the leading expert on overconfidence. Those who lack expertise lack the expertise. They need to recognize that they lack expertise. And then as we try the whole thing out for real. Wait, what? Oh, that's the Runway. I'm looking at this thing. See, listen to this. No Such thing on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In 1920, a magazine article announced something incredible. Two young girls had photographed real fairies. But even more extraordinary than the magazine articles claim was the identity of the man who wrote the article. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The man who wrote Sherlock Holmes. Yes. The man who invented literature's most brilliant detective was fooled by two girls into thinking fairies were real. How did they do it? And why does it seem like so many smart people keep falling for outlandish tricks? These are the questions we explore in Hoax, a new podcast from me, Dana Schwartz, the host of Noble Blood, and me, Lizzy Logan. Every episode, we'll explore one of the most audacious and ambitious tricks in history, from the fake Shakespeares to balloon boys, and try to answer the question of why we believe what we believe. Listen to Hoax on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Best and worst of the weekend. Tyler sitting by, taking your calls. Stat of the day brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of the program. He's Gerald McCoy. He was a former defensive tackle, six time Pro Bowler, and third overall pick in the draft 2010. I believe three of the four top four were from Oklahoma. Does that sound right, Gerald?
Fritzi Seton
That sounds absolutely perfect.
Dan Patrick
Yes.
Fritzi Seton
It was three to four top 10 picks. It was Sam, and then I went. And then Trent went number four.
Dan Patrick
And then Endomic, and Sue was in there as well.
Fritzi Seton
Was two. Yes, but okay, five. Five of the top six were from the Big 12. So we had some going that year.
Dan Patrick
Okay, let me give the official introduction. NFL Network carries six preseason games that'll be coming up a quadruple header this Saturday, August 23rd, starting at 1 Eastern on NFL Network. Do coaches give pregame speeches in preseason?
Fritzi Seton
Yeah, they do. Preseason is still about preparing the team. And somebody has to play the game, whether it's the starters, the Backups, whoever. The game still has to be played. And most coaches say, hey, if they keeping score, we want to go out and win. And we've been working on all these things, whether you've had joint practices or not, whether you've just been practicing together, whatever we've been working on, coach wants to go see you executed in the game. The coaches do a great job of not trying to downplay what preseason is. That's more like the starters and the players that will do something like that. But the coaches, they locked in at all times. I'm talking about they still yelling on the sideline. They still is still a game. So, yeah, they do give pregame speeches.
Dan Patrick
Okay, but how do I process the Bills getting blown out by the Bears? That we know the Bills are good, but they got embarrassed by the Bears. Let me look at it from the Bill's perspective of how would you feel if you played for the Bills and you got blown out like that?
Fritzi Seton
Well, it's not a great feeling because we've been practicing, we've still been practicing, and we've still been working on the things that we do. So when you go out in the game and don't put up any points, like none that is. That's not a great feeling for whoever's out there. Because preseason, some of these games might be the only NFL football some of these guys ever play. And they live and tell stories off their preseason experience and their game. So if you go out there and the only experience you've ever had, you got blown out 38. 0. That's not a story you want to tell. But also for the coaches who are trying to look for the special teams players and the guys who might be the backups, it's not a good look for them either. So I'm pretty sure those meetings are not pleasant this week.
Dan Patrick
What's it like when somebody gets cut in training camp?
Fritzi Seton
It's horrible. It's something you don't want to see. I remember in the spring, we. This wasn't even training camp. This is spring. Can't remember what year it was, but all the D linemen got together after workouts and meetings, and we went to see a movie. And while we were sitting in the the. During the movie, one of the guys just stood up, was like, all right, fellas, I'm gonna get out of here. Was like, dog, the movie just started. He was, oh, they just cut me, so I gotta get out of here. I was like. And we were just like, bro, do we sit and enjoy the movie or do we leave? Like, we don't. We don't know what to do. It's a, it's a bad feeling. I've seen so many different cuts. We've been sitting in the meeting the day of final cuts, and you feel like once you make it to team meeting, all right, we good. But I found out many a time even making it to their meeting is not. So you walk around, you see people like looking around the corner, hoping they don't, you know, get called, and then you get in the team meeting. One time we was in a team meeting, the team meeting starting, and Shelton Quarles, we called him the Grim Reaper in Tampa because he was the one who would come grab you. So we was all like, you know, like, everybody look out for the Grim Reaper. So we sit in the, we sit in the team meeting and then we see, we hear that back door open up and everybody turn around and Shelter was like, oh, my gosh, he came and grabbed somebody. And then one time, it was week one, week one, the first practice. So you. We come back that Monday before the first week. It's not that Wednesday. Is that Monday. So you want to get to that Wednesday. So that Monday comes up, we outside of practice and Shelton walks on the field to practice, to the warm ups and grab somebody off the field. Field. I was like, I said, man, this business is ruthless. This is just. Yes, it's not a great feeling. It's not something you want to see.
Dan Patrick
And because it's your dream, you think if you made it through the first week in the first game, it's. It's like, okay, I feel like I'm, I've made the roster. I'm pretty safe there.
Fritzi Seton
That's. That's what it feels like. But I tell people all the time, man, the NFL is about adjustments, not just game day adjustments. You really have to adjust to everything just to new coaches, adjust new players, adjust to the weather. You. Everybody plays hurt. Nobody's healthy after the first day of practice. It's just a game of adjustments. You, the roster you start with, even in week one might not be the roster you go into the game with, but definitely the roster you start with. Week one ain't the roster you gonna end week 17 with. So it's just all about adjustments.
Dan Patrick
He's. Gerald McCoy, works for NFL Network as an analyst and former defensive tackle. NFL Network has six preseason games that'll be a quadruple header this Saturday, Aug. 23, starting at 1 Eastern. The difference in the sound of a rookie quarterback at the line of scrimmage and Tom Brady, you know, any veteran, he's any of those guys, the sound, their voice, is there a difference? If I say just listen, you can tell a rookie at the line of scrimmage and a veteran, yeah, you can.
Fritzi Seton
Definitely tell the difference. The level of confidence, how they operate, even the communication from the offensive line. Rookies, depending on who's the center, this is what a lot of people won't know is I don't care how good the rookie is, if he has a vet center, he's going to depend a lot on his center for protections, changing plays, a lot of things that's going. So you may hear the rookie calling it, but they're real indecisive with things they want to do. The center helps them out a lot. I remember this happened with Cam, trying to think of some other young guys that I played. I really can only really think of Cam right now because that's why I played in the division. But Ryan Khalil will help Cam out a lot. Cam was very decisive as he got older. But when we first played, Cam would call things out, but we'd be at the line, and Ryan would be calling out, no, we're not doing this. We're going here, here, Cam. And they would be going back and forth like, okay, confirming what's going on. But then you play a Drew Brees or Matt Ryan, and, oh, shoot. Kill, kill, kill, kill. You like, man, what the heck is going on? Hey, switches. Levante, please change something, because Drew is out there. Like, Drew is cerebral, man. And he listen and Drew. Me and Drew trained together, so that's what made that fun. He would be talking, like, looking at me, like, making changes, like, looking me dead in my face, like, let me know y' all not about to stop this, you know? So it was. It was always fun, you know, going back and forth with Drew.
Dan Patrick
What was it like to tackle Cam Newton?
Fritzi Seton
So I don't know if y' all have ever seen, like, toddlers, like, really feel like they can take their parent down, like, really feel like they can jump on their dad's leg and tackle them. And then the dad is, like, wrapped. He's, like, wrapped around their leg, and they just, like, dragging you across the carpet. That's pretty much what it feel like trying to take Cam down. Because Cam, in my time was the most elusive. I still think he's the most elusive quarterback ever, simply because we've seen Lamar, we've seen Vick, we've seen Randall Cunningham, we've seen all these people Be elusive to where they can escape. But Cam was doing everything they're doing at 662-50-260. Doing it. But he's just as smooth. He can run not as fast, but he can run very fast. He's outrunning people. He can make you miss. And he had that fake to the right, spin back out to the left. He had that step forward, step back move. Cam had everything you need it to be an elusive quarterback. But then when you hit him, it's like, please go down. Because he had all this padding. He had pads on his arms. He had pads on his calves. He had the flak jacket. It's like, cam, come on, dog. You already 260. Why are you wearing all this stuff? But he's wearing all this stuff and he's still moving the way he's moving. Like, you really had to jump on Cam to get him on the ground. Cam was. He's one of the best, man.
Dan Patrick
Do you still have your Batman themed Rolls Royce?
Fritzi Seton
I have the Rolls Royce, but I made it Kobe after Kobe passed away. So it was Batman. But I have. I. So what I have now is I have a Batman themed cyber truck and I have my Batman chain on too.
Dan Patrick
So, yeah, I'm so Batman.
Fritzi Seton
Yeah, I'm all Batman now.
Dan Patrick
How did you trick out the Kobe Rolls Royce?
Fritzi Seton
It's red. Still red. And I put the Mamba logo on the front of my hood. So.
Dan Patrick
Did you ever meet him?
Fritzi Seton
I did meet Kobe. I met Kobe at the players tribune meeting in la. And for somebody to be somebody you looked up to. So they. They kept talking about the players tribune meeting, and I was part of the players tribune and they were having a big meeting and they called me and they was like, hey, this year, last year, Kobe was supposed to be there. He wasn't there this year. He's for sure going. He's for sure confirmed. Are you going? I'm like, I'm already headed to the airport. So like, so I get there and I'm in the meeting. I'm seeing all these people. Michael Phelps, these Von Millers, these, these Paul Pierces, these just all these top Maria Sharapovas, all these, like, people. Like KD's in there, Blake Griffin and all these. And I'm like, I know Blake, I know kd, I know Vaughn. I know all these people. Derek Jeter. Got to meet Derek Jeter. But, you know, he's in Tampa all the time. So I had met him before. I'm like, hey, listen, no offense. Where is he at you know, so I see him walk down the steps, and I'm like, oh, my gosh, this is happening. And he just walks in, and he's just a normal dude. He's just a normal dude, man. He walked over. He's like, what's up, big fella? And he's shaking everybody hand. They sit down. We have a meeting. We go through the players review. We have a great meeting. Then afterwards, we went outside to the pool where they was having the after party. And he comes outside and he comes. He's sitting next to me, and he slapped me on the leg. He was like, what's up, big dog? How you doing? And we, like, hold a conversation. Then I asked for a picture, and then he leaves. It was just like. It was almost like the perfect meeting of one of your, like, heroes, honestly. And one of the people I looked up to my entire career, man. And it was a great feeling. So, yes, I did have an opportunity to meet Kobe.
Dan Patrick
More nervous with that or playing in a big. In a playoff game.
Fritzi Seton
It was. I was more nervous meeting Kobe, for sure. Cause you don't want to mess it up, you know? Like, you know, it's just meeting them, but you still, like, you don't want to be. You just don't want to be weird, man. Like, and I'm. And I'm. I'm. I'm not a nervous person. Like, I'm not. I don't get nervous, really. You know, I don't really get embarrassed if I fall in front of thousands of people. I just get up like, dang, y' all just tripped to fail. But that's just how I am. Like, I don't really get embarrassed like that. So, you know, I was. But I was really nervous to meet Kobe as much as I've been wanting to meet him and all these things I' ma say to him when I meet him and all that. I do none of that. I didn't do none of this.
Dan Patrick
None of this. Good. A couple of football things here. The contract situation with Trey Hendrickson, Michael Parsons, Terry McLaurin. Yeah, which one? Which one is, you know, potentially serious. That it? You know, a player could change teams.
Fritzi Seton
If I have somebody that could really change the team. Is Michael Parsons going to another team? I'll go to another team. Probably Trey Henderson. Trey Hendricks said there's a real possibility he could get traded. You think about San Fran could trade for him? I would love to see him go to the Bucks. He could, you know, possibly Washington. Washington definitely could use him. It's a missing Piece, but I think it's a real possibility he could get traded out of there because we've seen the history of Cincinnati. They just don't pay people. It is like, this is always like a reoccurring thing. Then we always looking at Cincinnati like, what the heck are y' all doing with. Why y' all don't want to pay anybody? Terry McLaurin, I don't see getting traded. Micah definitely is not getting traded, but, yeah, if I had to pick anybody's.
Dan Patrick
Trey Hendrickson, give me your sneaky team this year.
Fritzi Seton
The Raiders.
Dan Patrick
Oh, the Raiders.
Fritzi Seton
Pete Carroll, he's a 10 win coach. This is what he does. And some people you just like, they just. This is what they do. It may not be glamorous or whatever, but this is just what they do. You just look up and it's like, man, he averaged a double double again. How the heck is he doing this? That's just. That's. Pete Carroll is one of them guys with 10 wins. He just, he. He knows how to win. He has a formula. He runs the ball. Physical run game. He had Marshawn Lynch. You go get Ashton Jimty, because this is. This is my style. This is what I want to do. You go out and get a quarterback that you know can play, that's a vet that you don't have to teach him. He's won some games, made the playoffs. Geno Smith, you. You already got Brock Bowers. You go draft offensive linemen so you can run the ball and be physical. You got your receivers that could take the top off the defense. Max Crosby's on the other side. I know with John Spytak, the gm, I was with him in Tampa. I know his philosophy and how he builds teams. I just believe that this team is going to shock a lot of people with the things they can do with the formula they have. Pete Carroll is just a winner. And in that city, in Vegas, Pete Carroll fits that perfect. He recruited me when he was at usc, so I've seen how he can handle big cities and how he can handle the lights. And we've seen it in Seattle, going to two Super Bowls, going to multiple AFC championships, winning a Super Bowl. This is just who Pete Carroll is. And I know what he can do. And I believe that they are going to be a team that sneaks up on a lot of people.
Dan Patrick
Oklahoma paid better than usc.
Fritzi Seton
Hey, listen, let me tell you something. I'm in the clear now. I didn't get anything, but I tell people all the time, I tell people this all the Time. Y' all can't do nothing to me. Now. If I. If I'm not one of the people that's gonna get on here and say, hey, no, I wouldn't have took nothing. Please. Yeah, all right. Don't. Hey, hey, hey. I'm from Southside, Oklahoma City. We ain't had much. I needed all I could get, but I didn't get nothing. So, you know, whatever. Oh, you just owe you.
Dan Patrick
Hey, I don't blame players getting money, you know, getting a handout, but I mean, now you can do it.
Fritzi Seton
Yeah. At this. Man, listen, college is. You go for the reasons you go, you know, back then, everything has changed. I go talk to these teams, these guys at ou, these incoming recruits. I've talked to the team that's there now. And when I was there, I tell people the times of going to a school because you grew up loving the school or the tradition or this is ou. I know them days over with. So I'm not one of the people they bring in. And I go talk to the team. And like, we have a standard. We have a this and this and this. That's not me. I say, I know the reasons for people going to different schools are different now, but if you're going to be here, be here. Don't have your mind somewhere else. Find whatever reason it is you're here and do it for that at this school. And then I go into the tradition of, oh, you, if you're going to wear these colors while you're here, at least uphold what we. Our standard is while you're here. If you want to leave after that, then go. That's fine. If you don't want to be here, you don't have to be here. But while you're here, uphold this standard that this school has always had. So that's kind of my message to the new generation because I know it's. It's different reasons why kids are going there.
Dan Patrick
So. Oh, you gave you a better deal than usc. Sweet.
Fritzi Seton
I wish, man.
Dan Patrick
Hey, keep killing it there on NFL Network. Great to have you on. We appreciate your time and I appreciate.

Two young girls had photographed real fairies. But even more extraordinary than the magazine article's claim was the identity of the man who wrote the article. Yes, there's a Trey Hendrickson game. Not the game that the Bengals play tonight against the Commanders, but it's called the Trey Hendrickson game. All right, Paul, what are the rules? Ready to play? Yeah, let's do it. Week one of the NFL season, Trey Hendrickson will be playing for the Bengals, not playing for the Bengals, playing for another team. You will go last. Dan Marvin will go first. Playing for the Bengals. Seaton, not playing for the Bengals. Princey, not playing for the Bengals. Dan, just to recap, playing for the Bengals, not playing for the Bengals. Playing for another team. Say, playing for the Bengals. Because I think they realize you can't waste another Joe Burrow season. I'm gonna, you know, maybe, you know, cooler heads will prevail. That's the entire Trey Henderson.

That's it.
Dan Patrick
Brush that. Here's, here's a question for you. This team has not been swept in a series this season. The only team that has not been swept in a series. 40 series without a sweep. Marvin. Are Milwaukee Brewers? No. But that seems like the obvious guess. As great as they've been playing. Paul. The Detroit Tigers. No. Todd. The Guardians. No. Satan. The Toronto Blue Jays. Good answer as well. It's The Cincinnati Reds. 40 series without being swept is surpassing the 1970 Reds. They weren't swept for 32 consecutive series. The Big Red Machine. 1970. Stat of the day. The stat of the day. This is the stat of the day. Thank you. Melissa Eggs, Kansas City chief fan. Stat of the day brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick show. Doug in Washington. Hi, Doug. What's on your mind today? Yeah, I'm 63 and a Butterbean. S385. So my question is this. I'm a fourth generation Husky, so it's hard to ask this question, but I'm going to ask it of the greatest broadcaster in sports. Why is it that Washington State University is being allowed to fall off the edge of the football world? I know the answer is money. I'm sure you'll get there. But when they graduated Keith Jackson and Edward R. Murrow, the greatest broadcasters, why is the broadcasting industry not rallying to the Cougars efforts to stay in real in relevancy? Well, it's a niche question, Doug. The rest of America doesn't care. I mean, they care about their own alma maters, not just because Keith Jackson and Edward R. Murrow went there. I would love to get the Cougars back in, you know, into mainstream conversations with football. I love the rivalries up there, the atmosphere up there. But just because Keith Jackson went there and Edward R. Murrow, that's not going to help your cause. Yes, Paul, he's right. Washington State football has one of the weirder schedules in sports. They have Idaho State. I'm sorry, Idaho, San Diego State, North Texas, Washington, Mississippi, Virginia, Toledo and ongoing. It's like a tour. Pac12 rip. Chris in Syracuse. Hi, Chris. Hey, thanks for getting me in, Dan. Hey, I'll try to be real quick. Hey, I tuned in when you guys were talking about baseball and how they're going to go mega regional in their divisions, which I agree with Seaton. I think it'd be incredible. Do you think college football? I think eventually now when they expand the playoffs especially, they're going to it'll be like the Premier League. I think that's how it works. You have like 50, 60 top teams, a lower team tier and they can go up if they, the lower tier can go up if they're good and the other ones drop down. Do you think they would ever go like a four division top tiers, like maybe call it SEC south, one of them and then have just regional teams in each division? I think it would be great for the sport and I know the fans would love it. I think it's great. I think everything's on the table. I just don't know, you know, who's at the table, how big the table is. But it's. It feels like something seismic will happen in the next five years. Paulie this Day in Sports History Herschel Walker 1981, as a sophomore at Georgia took out an insurance policy for a million dollars with Lloyd's of London. Earl Campbell, 1987, announced his retirement from the NFL. And Larry Bird, 1992, 13 years with the Celtics, announced his retirement. Okay, Todd, what'd you learn today? Scotty Sheffield doesn't really have any particular highlights in his career. He's like the Tim Duncan of golf. Seaton, you call some fish this weekend? Yes, I did. Marvin. You don't care about the Broncos. Great to be back for the entire gang. We'll try to do better tomorrow. Have a great day, everybody. Hey, it's Ryan Seacrest for Albertsons and Safeway. Host: Dan Patrick
Guests: Gerald McCoy (NFL Network analyst, former All-Pro DT)
The third hour of The Dan Patrick Show blends Dan’s signature sports insights, humor, and banter with the Danettes. Key topics included preseason NFL standouts, quarterback evaluations, amusing tales from Dan’s personal life, and a feature interview with former NFL star Gerald McCoy, who offers a candid look at what training camp cuts are really like, rookie/veteran QB differences, the “ruthlessness” of NFL business, and more.
[25:25–42:49]
On how rookies sound different at the line: “You can definitely tell the difference. The level of confidence, how they operate... if he has a vet center, he’s going to depend a lot on his center for protections, changing plays…” [31:12]
Stories from defending Cam Newton as a young QB, and contrasting that with veterans like Drew Brees.
Hour 3 of The Dan Patrick Show was a lively, funny, and insightful look at sports and pop culture, blending calls from devoted listeners, irreverent banter among the Danettes, and expert perspective from guest Gerald McCoy. McCoy’s stories pulled back the curtain on NFL training camp, the emotional toll of getting cut, and the league's business side, all while keeping things relatable and entertaining. The episode balanced smart analysis (rookie evaluation, NFL contracts, team outlooks) with trademark offbeat humor and unique insider moments—a quintessential Dan Patrick hour.
