Sunday night Micah Parsons heads back to Dallas and it's the packers and the Dallas Cowboys and A rivalry renewed Sunday 7 Eastern on NBC. And Peacock, by the way, we will do a streaming party with Shay and Irving and I don't know if Nick Wright is going to join us from Fox Sports, but we will do what we did a couple of weeks ago. Now it's not going to be streamed live because I can't trust Shay, especially watching the Cowboys, but we're going to do that on Sunday night. It'll be sort of the danning cast that will have Shane Irving on watching his Cowboys against the packers. That'll be Sunday night. 8773-DP-SHoVE email address dpdanpatrick.com Twitter handle @dpshow Super Bowl Odds in case you're curious this according to DraftKings, the Bills are your favorites, then the Ravens, the 1 and 2 Ravens and then it's the Eagles. Eagles and packers are tied to then it's the Lions, the Chargers, and then the Chiefs. And further down you'll find the Commanders NERS and the Rams MVP odds. Josh Allen is your favorite, followed closely by Lamar Jackson, then Justin Herbert and then a big jump down to Jordan Love, Jaden Daniels or Bake and Baker Mayfield Jr III. My MVP pick is not on there, especially off one of the best performances that Jalen Hurts has had in a while throwing the football. Now, yes, I am curious when I see those stats with Jalen Hurts, but I, I just think he's like Troy Aman, what do you need me to do? And then I'll do it when it's all said and done. He's not going to have impressive numbers, but he's on his way to the hall of Fame. You're not it's hard to win an mvp, but, but when you think value to a team, we always equate that to stats. Look at my stats. And that's why I always say with the qbr, okay, did you win the game? That's the most important thing. Did you win the game? And I think he does what they ask him to do, what he needs to do, and he wins. Every place he's been, he wins. Now he's not going to be the MVP this year because he's not going to put up those kind of numbers. He's a guy that you have to watch him play a game because if you're watching for highlights, there's another Tush push and there's another Tush push and there's Saquon Barkley and the Eagles win again. Okay he's not meant for the highlight generation. Yes.
Marvin
Marvin, unfortunately for Jalen hurts. He's. He's got an embarrassment of riches. So they would have to go 16 and 1 or 170 for him to even be considered a top three MVP candidate with that roster.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, this same. You know there's quarterbacks who have Jared Goff same way with the Lions. You know Troy Aikman when he was with the Cowboys, Troy didn't put up big numbers, but he finished top five one time. But his value to the team and that's hard to equate. Where you go, man, he's really valuable. Okay, but what's he do? He just really good. He's a good field general or whatever. Yes. Paulie.
Paulie
I went back and looked at Hertz breakout season of 2022 and he was second in the MVP voting to Mahomes because he was a great story. He was the new story. His stats were half of Mahomes. Mahomes had 41 touchdowns. Hertz had 22. But there was a fresh story around Hertz and he finished second.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. All right. So last night the Lions over the Ravens and they did it by running the football and they kept running the football. This would be the concern I have with the Ravens. They used to have, or they normally have a average, better than average defense sometimes they've had great defenses. They've had a defense where, hey, if you score 10 points, we'll win the game. That's how good their defense was. The lions rushed for 224 yards. That's the most a Ravens defense has allowed since 2017. And they had two drives of over 95 yards. That doesn't happen very often. And they did that like that's when you take over a game when all of a sudden that defense is out there, they're going to be spent. You had the fumble, Derrick Henry, they sacked Lamar seven times. I mean that they did give up a lot more points than you know, I'm going to say that, that that's a great game on both sides of the ball. It's hard to say that. And they give up 30 points, but seven sacks. They had the strip sack, strip fumble with Derrick Henry. They ran the football. That was. That's one of those, hey, we're going to take your heart out. We're going to your place and we're going to run the football. And now the Ravens got to go to Kansas City coming up next week. 31 years ago today, Shaw Shank Redemption was released. 31 years ago this week. I, I want to talk a little bit about it because I think it's more than just a film, a movie that there's so much in this and, and the fact that Tim Robbins, who plays Andy Dufresne said that this is, this was such a big movie in China because it allowed Chinese people to have hope to get out of what they were in. And I just remember that it stayed with me because you're thinking about, you know, how long do movies last or that we could watch it again and again and again and it wasn't a hit when it came out. I think it lost money at the box office. Yeah. Paulie.
Paulie
Yeah. The budget. This is 1994. The budget was 25 million in its first month. It was released for basically six weeks. It made 15 million and was pulled from the box office. Now it got very good reviews and was re released and made another 10 million. So it kind of broke even. It did very well with the awards, very well with. But then they shipped all the DVDs to Blockbuster and the following year, 1995, it was the number one DVD rented at Blockbuster for the entire year. And that's the audience have found.
Dan Patrick
Tim Robbins talked about how little money he makes on Shawshank Redemption residuals. Yeah, but you've talked about it before with Shawshank Redemption that you guys basically, you don't get paid for the, like the, the rears of this movie. You got a one time flat fee for Shawshank.
Caller/Listener
I did. I think the other guys got paid. We get paid a little bit, but because of the union. But it was when it was sold in the syndication. Ted Turner sold it to himself from Warner to his network. So he bought at the lowest rate. So it goes on. Every time it goes on, there's really. I mean, they have to pay residuals and, but not much. It was nominated for seven Academy Awards and he sold it for beach blanket bingo prices.
Dan Patrick
Wow. And then I asked Tim Robbins this question, like, did you take anything from Shawshank Redemption or.
Caller/Listener
I did. I, I took the rocks. The guys, the only extras. The extras who were prison inmates. Actually the local prison there, the more well behaved ones, were allowed to be extras. And so they actually made a collection of rocks for me and gave it to me at the end of the movie.
Dan Patrick
It's just, it's a, it's a great movie that you can continue to watch even though you know what the ending is going to be. They reshot the ending because I think it originally ended with Morgan Freeman on the bus going to go see Andy. But then they realized that people actually wanted to see those two reconnect. And they got a hold of Tim Robbins, and as the story goes, they say, hey, we gotta reshoot the ending. He's like, why? Well, we do. They want to see you and Red together, and it's going to be shot in St. Lucia. And Tim Robbins goes, I'm in. Gonna go there for a week. But just the fact that they were reconnecting on the beach and a great way to end the movie, but that there's. There's so much. And I don't think Tim Robbins was the number one choice to play Andy Dufresne. Yeah, Paulie.
Paulie
No, there was a bunch of people considered before him. The movie was offered to Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp and Kevin Costner and Tom Hanks. Cruise read for it and didn't get. Didn't sign up for it. Hanks was too busy with Forrest Gump. Kevin Costner had to pass on it due to Waterworld. Then they went out to Johnny Depp, Nicholas Cage, even Charlie Sheen was considered. Then they got around to Tim Robbins, the character of Morgan Freeman. It was supposed to be a white Irish guy, but they fell in love with Morgan Freeman, decided to put him in the movie. James Gandolfini was gonna be the really bad guy in prison. The prisoner who attacks Andy Dufresne. Gandolfini passed on it. And this was early James Gandolfini, before he had done anything. So among the players that were involved.
Dan Patrick
In it, and the way it's shot, it's shot where it's always dark. I mean, it just there. Well, you don't want to have sunshine and great days when you're showing a prison movie. Plus, you're. You're trying to sell a prison movie. And it's not really. It's a. It's a relationship movie. It's. It's not necessarily prison. It's like all these sports movies. It's not. Hoosiers isn't a basketball movie. It's a relationship movie. Bull Durham is a relationship movie. Yeah. Yes. Eaton. Yeah.
Seaton
One of the things that the movie does best is it humanizes people in prison, which societally we kind of forget about. There's kind of normal dudes that happen to be in prison, and one of the best examples of that is the day that they're sitting on the. They're towering the roof and they all just. God, just to have a bucket of beers, you know, that is probably one of the more powerful scenes in that whole Movie of just. Just for 15 minutes. Being able to be a normal guy again is. It's a hell of a scene.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, Paul, you'll like this.
Paulie
The weekend it was released, they decided to leave Stephen King's name off all promotions. He wrote a short story that became Shawshank Redemption. But they were worried that people thought, Stephen King, he's a horror movie guy. Cujo and Christine. And so they took Stephen King's name off it. Guess what movie they went up against in the theaters their opening weekend? That blew them. Blew their doors off.
Dan Patrick
So this is 1994.
Paulie
Yeah, fall of 94.
Dan Patrick
It's.
Paulie
It's a movie with similar staying power, but a different kind of film.
Seaton
Dumb and Dumber.
Paulie
Nailed it. Pulp Fiction. Oh, pulp fiction made $212 million in six months.
Dan Patrick
I saw that in the theaters. I did not see Shawshank in the theaters. Yes, Marvin.
Marvin
Yeah, Shawshank's one of those movies. If you recommend it to somebody, no one's going to say, man, you sold that way too much. Everyone be like, man, you were right, because somebody told me about Shawshank Redemption. But you got to watch this movie, all right? And so now it's my favorite movie ever. And I always recommend that to anybody who's never seen it. I don't know anyone that's never seen it.
Todd Fritz
As a matter of fact.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, it's hard to not see some of it. And. And it. It doesn't matter where they are in the movie. It's one of those where you go, all right, I'm gonna watch. Yeah, Paul.
Paulie
So the name Shawshank Redemption didn't test very well, but they kept it. People floated out things like Breakout for the name, like Die Hard to make it seem like it would be more of an action film. And they poo pooed that pooh poohed Breakout.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, that does sound like something Hollywood would do. Like. All right, how do we explain this movie? It's called Breakout.
Paulie
Spoils the ending.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. So you're saying he gets out.
Seaton
It's like in that movie Free Willy, in the trailer that they would show on tv, they show a whale jumping over a gigantic brick wall and the.
Dan Patrick
Kid raising his arms. Yes. I wonder what scene that was from.
Todd Fritz
We didn't say Freed Willy. We just said Free Will. Hoping it's free will.
Seaton
Sure looks like the whale's getting out. The kid seems happy about it. I don't know.
Dan Patrick
Craig in Clearwater. Hi, Craig. What's on your mind today?
Caller/Listener
Hey, guys, I appreciate the call. It was good to talk to you. So I'm 1994. I'm working in Clearwater. I'm working in Cranberry, New Jersey, at the Cranberry Inn. And they're filming a movie called IQ and Tim Robbins, Walter Massau, Meg Ryan. And it was a night of the infamous John Jersey Devils Rangers game where Messier promised a win. And so they're supposed to be filming this scene on the chef in the kitchen. And everyone's looking for Tim Robbins. And all sudden, like, I go into dry storage and Tim Robbins is back there in dry storage with a transistor radio listening to the hockey game. And he looks at me and he says, don't tell anyone in here. I'm in here. There's only five minutes left in the game. The Rangers are. And that's my Tim Robbins story.
Dan Patrick
Thank you, Craig. Yeah, Tim. You'll see him at the Rangers games. Sean in Maryland. Hi, Sean. What's on your mind?
Caller/Listener
Hey, I just heard a. An interview with the Bucks rookie and Mecca Buka, and they asked his favorite movie and to prove how timeless it was, it was Shawshank.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Yeah, good, I'm glad. That's 31 years. That's staying power. And it's not 31 years at a time of the calendar. Like Christmas Story comes out and it's wonderful. You know, there's certain movies that come out at certain times of the year. This is. How many times do you think Shawshank has played? How many times has it been on TV? Because it's. It feels like 10,000 times. All right, let me take a break. More phone calls coming up. We're back after this Dan Patrick Show. Be sure to catch the live edition of the Dan Patrick show, weekdays at 9am Eastern, 6am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. Hey, we're Covino and Rich, Fox Sports radio every day, 5 to 7pm Eastern. I guess the Cowboys aren't going to do anything special for Micah Parsons when he comes back. And I thought maybe block, maybe, maybe block him. That would be something special. The Cowboys defense can't continue to be this bad, can it?
Marvin
Want to make a bet?
Dan Patrick
Are they okay? Are they the worst defense in football right now?
Paulie
I have the current defensive rankings. Points given up, the Cowboys are ranked 27th. Yards given up, the Cowboys are ranked 30th. Guess who's the worst in yards given up.
Dan Patrick
The Ravens.
Paulie
Ravens is correct.
Dan Patrick
It has to be the Ravens.
Seaton
Their defense is horrible this year.
Dan Patrick
I know.
Paulie
Just a tackling and defending the pass. They seem like nice people. Kyle Hamilton's very likable guy.
Dan Patrick
Yes, Marv.
Marvin
Monday morning we're going to say, man, is Jordan Love an MP MVP candidate? Because we've been saying about everyone that plays the Cowboys defense, we're like, oh, is Russell Wilson back? Caleb Williams, oh my God, he's making the turn.
Dan Patrick
But I don't think the Cowboys are one of the five worst teams in football. And, and, and maybe I'm a little bit more optimistic about the. Because they do have talent. Although CD Lamb's going to be out for maybe three games, maybe a month with that high ankle sprain. But that's never a low ankle sprain, by the way. It's always a high ankle sprain. Yes.
Paulie
If it's a high ankle sprain, is it still on your ankle?
Dan Patrick
It's. It's the highest part of your ankle. Above the bone, I guess. Yeah. McLovin had a high ankle sprain for years.
Paulie
And peace.
Dan Patrick
Yes, yes. The.
Seaton
But just the fact that we're talking about the Cowboys, are they bottom five? I don't know. Are they bottom eight?
Dan Patrick
Yeah, could be.
Seaton
If we're looking dower ranking wise.
Dan Patrick
Oh, that's Thursday.
Paulie
We could bump it up to Tuesday dower ranking.
Seaton
I mean, I've got. I actually have week three power and dower rankings up right now. Where you could go vote. Go to danpatrick.com you could vote on them.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Seaton
The Cowboys are in there for dower rankings.
Dan Patrick
Do we think that they will end up okay if I said what was the over? Under seven and a half maybe.
Paulie
Yes. They were not expected to make the playoffs.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Paulie
Before you judge it, CD Lamb out. How long do we know?
Dan Patrick
Three weeks, maybe four weeks.
Paulie
But with that defense, they, they have to be in a shootout. Without him, there's no shootout.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, well, you got George Pickens.
Paulie
Great as the 1A.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Paulie
He said, I'm actually having a nice year.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Yeah. Do we think they'll end up with one of the five worst records in the NFL? You're gonna have the Saints. Where are all those Saints fans? When I brought up the Saints were going to be bad beginning of the year and they're all mad at me. I'm like, I, I hope they're good. I love the city. I don't have anything against you. Like, oh, you're, you're gonna find out. I'm like, no, I'm, I'm. I already know they're not going to be good. Browns aren't going to be. Browns will be bottom five of the Giants. Going to be bottom five. Tennessee, bottom five. Yeah. Seaton. Yeah.
Seaton
I'm pretty sure the Titans fans got mad at us, too.
Dan Patrick
None of this is personal. This isn't. Hey, you're in that city and you don't, you know, we play against you. It's not, I'm not, I'm not biased against anybody or for anybody. Yes, Todd.
Todd Fritz
Other than the Jets, Giants and Panthers, Dallas has a kind of a nightmare. They got obviously got to play the Commanders, then they got Denver, they have the Cardinals, which they should win. But then you got got to play the Raiders, but you don't know what you're going to get.
Dan Patrick
The Vikings, I can't say they should beat the Cardinals. Be favorite is that game.
Todd Fritz
That's a winnable game. But they got to play the Chargers, they got to play the Vikings.
Dan Patrick
Where's the Cardinals game?
Todd Fritz
The Cardinals game? You don't want to go there is in Dallas.
Dan Patrick
Okay, well, they have a. Then they have a better chance of winning that game. I don't know if there's any foregone conclusion where you go, oh, Dallas will win that game and they don't have any defense. If Jackson Dart plays for the Giants when he plays for the Giants, that defense can be really good. That maybe, you know, they prove to be a little better than what they only won three games last year. Maybe they're a six win team. Yes, Todd.
Todd Fritz
Starting November 23rd, they host the Eagles, host the Chiefs at the Lions, host the Vikings, host the Chargers at the Commanders and then they finish it at the Giants. But that's a disaster.
Dan Patrick
Wow. Yeah. They might finish with one of the five worst records. Yeah, Paul.
Paulie
The Dolphins, the Titans and The Saints are all 03 and they've all been outscored by more than 40 points. Those are the three worst teams in the League run. Run differential, as I call it. Point differential.
Dan Patrick
Yes. Mark.
Todd Fritz
Yeah.
Marvin
I got the under. I'll take a pie to the face with what?
Dan Patrick
Dallas. Yeah. What? Seven and a half.
Marvin
I got them winning six games.
Dan Patrick
Well, that's not a big leap.
Marvin
I got them winning five games.
Dan Patrick
Does anybody want a piece of Marvin? He's got the Cowboys winning five.
Marvin
They are terrible.
Dan Patrick
So the over, under.
Seaton
So they have to win four more games.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, no, you should take six. Right. Because you're.
Marvin
I'll take six.
Dan Patrick
Okay. So you think the Cowboys will win six at best. Okay, wait, are we approaching this bet correctly? Because I'm trying to. You went from six to five, and I'm going, well, you said you can take six.
Marvin
I was like, you know what?
Dan Patrick
I will take the over. Under was seven and a half.
Marvin
I don't think they'll get the seven games.
Dan Patrick
They. Okay.
Marvin
I think they'll just get six games.
Dan Patrick
Six games. Okay. They're going to win six. I. I'm with you. Yeah.
Paulie
Paulie, that over under was set before the Parsons trade.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Yeah, but they got a run stopper.
Paulie
Oh, yeah. That's good for one third of a win. I feel bad for Kenny Clark.
Dan Patrick
I do, too. Play good football. And, and by all accounts, he's a wonderful person. He's a great teammate. Great in the locker room, all of those things. And all of a sudden, you know, he's got to be the next Reggie White. Yes. Marvin.
Marvin
It's like the guy that was traded for Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Like, oh, what was his name? I just feel bad for him. He's always going to be a Jeopardy question.
Dan Patrick
Well, there were a few guys who got traded for Kareem, so it's not just one guy.
Marvin
And you don't know any of them, or at least I don't.
Dan Patrick
Junior Bridgman, I think, was in that. But they got draft picks out of that, and he, he wanted out of Milwaukee. I remember when Wilt got traded, and that's where I think Philadelphia got, like, Archie Clark and Daryl Imhoff. I remember when Oscar Robertson was traded for Charlie Polk and Flynn Robinson. Charlie Polk, I think, was a, A sergeant in the Marines as well. Like, he had another job.
Paulie
Was he better at that than basketball?
Dan Patrick
He was probably better at being a marine than he was at basketball. And Flynn Robinson, I think he was the electric eye. Okay. I, I, he had. He was a deep shooter. Flynn Robinson. And I, I think that's his name, but I don't. That sounds weird. The electric eye. Cyborg Flynn Robinson. Can you see what his nickname was? That's good. This is great radio.
Paulie
Flynn Robinson. We're doing a deep dive. Yeah, I got Flynn, James Robinson. Electric Eye or Instant Point.
Dan Patrick
There you go. Electric Eye. Why?
Paulie
Why Electric Eye?
Dan Patrick
I have no idea.
Paulie
Checking.
Dan Patrick
I have no idea. I was little at the time. I didn't question those things. Yeah, it's like ice Gervin. I don't know. He just had ice water in his veins, I guess. Or whenever he went to a restaurant, he always asked for ice. A lot of ice there, Todd. Yes.
Todd Fritz
Todd saying one story that says Marky Bucks broadcaster Eddie Doucette. The uncanny marksmanship and pure shooting ability of Flynn Robinson. He called him the Electric Eye.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. And then Charlie Polk. Can you see if he was like a sergeant in the Marines? Now those are the two guys you got for Oscar Robertson. And Oscar goes to Milwaukee and wins his one championship there. And I think it was Archie Clark and Daryl Imhoff for Wilt Chamberlain. You never get dollar for dollar, you know, you just never do. Fidel in la. Hi, Fidel.
Caller/Listener
Hello, Dan. How you doing? Longtime listener. You guys are great. Just kind of wanted to comment on the Shawshank Redemption. Just share my quick little story. I ended up getting into some Trouble in early 2000. I ended up getting locked up. So I came across the book of the Shawshank Redemption. And I actually read the book and. Great book. So when I got released, got out, went ahead and saw the movie. Awesome movie, great movie. Fell in love with it. And I think that's the only movie and book that actually match up or that that is, I guess, you know, very similar. I read a lot of other books. None of them come close when they come make a movie, but just thought I'd share that with you guys.
Dan Patrick
Thank you. Yeah, yeah. Stephen King. Stephen King wrote the book J.C. in Indiana. Hi, J.C. hey, Dan.
Caller/Listener
Thanks for taking my call. First time, long time. 5, 6, 18 and shrinking. Appreciate you. Thank you taking my call today. I am a member of the DDC. My D75th birthday would have been today, and so I'm calling in honor in memory of him. Shawshank Redemption was one of our favorite movies to watch together. So I appreciated you replaying that Tim Robbins interview. And then Jim Harbaugh, I've always loved him as a player. I love him as a coach. And the very first NFL game that I went to, my dad took me to. And the Indianapolis Colts, who were quarterbacked by Jim Harbaugh, beat the Green Bay Packers 35 to 31. Thanks again. And have a great day.
Dan Patrick
J.C. your father's name?
Caller/Listener
Joseph.
Dan Patrick
Joseph. All right. How about a belated happy birthday for Joseph? Happy birthday. Thank you, J.C. let me see. Jim in Michigan. Hi, Jim. What's on your mind today?
Caller/Listener
I just wanted to touch base. You had a conversation regarding the Cliffs Notes.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Caller/Listener
And I work for. I work for a company out of Lincoln, Nebraska. Okay, okay, I'm on the phone real quick. Anyway, I worked for this company in Lincoln, Nebraska called Nebraska Book, which originated the used textbook business. Cliff. That's his first name. I don't recall. His last was an employee of that company who developed the Cliffs Notes and went on to make a lot of money doing it. Hired a bunch of readers to condense these books. So he was. Worked for Nebraska Book and also developed the Cliffs Notes.
Dan Patrick
Well, thank you, Jim. I'm not sure what Jim is doing at work there. Don't want him to get fired.
Paulie
Yeah, Paul, and on cue is a nice short story.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Cliffs Notes.
Paulie
Clifton Hill Glass. Hillgas. Born in 1958 from Lincoln, Nebraska. He started Cliff's Notes.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Thank you. Helped me considerably. But you know what? Teachers knew if you read the book or all they have to do is go to the Cliff Notes. Cliffs Notes. And then they could go, okay, yeah, you learned that there. You learned that there. You learned that there. Yes.
Todd Fritz
Todd, what was that guy yelling at you? I said barbecue sauce. That sweet sour. You want a sports talk show? Where's my fries?
Dan Patrick
I'm on the phone.
Paulie
Yes, Paul, The Cliff Notes guys.
Dan Patrick
Is.
Paulie
Was his obituary very short.
Dan Patrick
Too soon. Do we. Do we get to the obituary and somebody yells at. Just give us the Cliffs Notes. Okay. The actual guy don't go forever. Mr. Hill Glass. Yes. Yes.
Seaton
Died. Family donations.
Dan Patrick
That's it.
Todd Fritz
It was a great dad. Okay, whatever.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Thoughts and prayers.
Paulie
Do you think whenever he and his wife went to like dinner parties, like get to this. Get to the store, get to the store. That was.
Dan Patrick
Takes forever. Yeah. Everything about him asked has to have brevity. Yeah. Hi, honey. Hi. Just the Cliff Notes version. Okay.
Todd Fritz
How was your day?
Dan Patrick
Fine.
Todd Fritz
Just send me a smiley face. You got to say the whole word Fine.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. You didn't have emojis back then.
Paulie
I was dinner. Good.
Dan Patrick
Good. Yeah. I mean, come on. You can. You can expound upon that. I'm just giving you the Cliffs Notes version of everything.
Seaton
Cliff's Notes.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Imagine. His wife probably got tired of hearing that. Ah, honey, it's Cliff's Notes.
Seaton
That's. I drive my wife nuts. Well, a lot of things I do Drive my wife's nuts. But she will go out to dinner all the time, and I'll order the Brussels sprouts.
Dan Patrick
And she's like, would you just.
Seaton
At first it was really funny, and I think now she'll see it on the menu. She'll be like, don't. Don't do it.
Todd Fritz
Excuse me.
Seaton
How are the Brussels sprouts prepared?
Dan Patrick
Well, I do the Jimmy Scungiel and Tommy Calamari, and it drives my wife crazy. We went to the Italian Feast a couple of weeks ago, and I said, oh, Jimmy Scungeal and Tommy Calamari. And she goes, nah, I don't think I'd do it. I go, oh, yeah? Yeah. Jimmy skin. Who's coming over? Jimmy Scungio. Or is it Tommy Calamari?
Todd Fritz
Yes, Todd, what would the Cliffs Notes version be or CliffsNotes version be? In the bedroom. So there's no foreplay at all. You gotta get right to it. In and out, pretty much.
Dan Patrick
Right.
Todd Fritz
How you think you're doing today?
Paulie
Mr. And Mrs. Cliff's notes.
Dan Patrick
What are you. What are you doing?
Todd Fritz
The CliffsNotes version of intimacy would be. Okay, we're done. What happened again? This keeps happening to. You should really see a doctor. I have to kind of lead up to stuff. Can I kiss my neck for a second before you finish up? CliffsNotes version of intimacy, Marvin, I don't.
Marvin
Have anything after that.
Dan Patrick
Okay, that's good. How do you think you're doing today? Yeah, he did it to himself.
Todd Fritz
Did do it to myself. We got to put the coat of the silence down the cone. We got to hit a cone.
Dan Patrick
How do you think you're going?
Todd Fritz
You're doing, you know, C at best. And that's being generous for somebody who.
Dan Patrick
Prided himself on his grade point average. You don't. You do not take great pride in your grades on this show.
Todd Fritz
I did so well. I had all kinds of. You know.
Dan Patrick
You know what? Maybe. Maybe we do a calendar. And then I put a grade each day at the end of the show. That's a little harsh, but it might be a subtle reminder.
Todd Fritz
Yeah, I may have to talk to human resources about that.
Dan Patrick
No, no.
Todd Fritz
Seems like a very intimidating thing.
Dan Patrick
I'm human Resources.
Todd Fritz
That's true. Ah, I forgot all about that and making it a point. Stare at that every day. Here's what you got to see. And there's a deep plus.
Dan Patrick
And it's not resources. It's not a Z.
Todd Fritz
Does say resources. My tongue gets a little.
Dan Patrick
Yes, Marvin.
Marvin
See? And this is for everybody that says. Oh, man, you guys pick On Fritzi, I consider this place. Everyone's got a closed fist. And sometimes you guys swing. And sometimes Fritzi runs right into it, full speed.
Dan Patrick
That is true. It's not going to change. It's. It doesn't matter what I say.
Todd Fritz
And it's nascar, right? Not nascar.
Dan Patrick
It is Ness with an S, not a Ness.
Todd Fritz
Not in nascar.
Dan Patrick
Okay. I guess everyone says everything perfectly here.
Seaton
I guess no one's ever made a mistake before.
Todd Fritz
That's going right in the suggestion box.
Dan Patrick
No. Okay. No, we do make mistakes. That's. But we point them out when we make mistakes.
Todd Fritz
Suggestion box. Let's not grade people personally. Put up on a board. Things have to stare at every day and get mocked. Suggestion box.
Dan Patrick
I'm going to talk to human resources.
Todd Fritz
First of all, sir, it's not resources. And what's your problem with Dan? What did you want to call him?
Dan Patrick
I'm hr.
Todd Fritz
I can't even go over your head or anything, because I'll be like, you got to talk to Dan. Work it out.
Dan Patrick
It's like I'm older, white, and Breaking Bad, you know, I'm the one who knocks. God, I love that scene. I love that. All right, let me take a break. Let's just regroup. It's all fun. Everything. Everybody's having fun.
Todd Fritz
We are?
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Marvin
Until dinner time at the Fritz's house.
Dan Patrick
And then you know what else he said? And then he was gonna grade me every day.
Todd Fritz
And it's for Russia Shuna dinner night, too. This is supposed to be a big, you know, Jewish festival of New Year's, and you gotta put a damper on it. Now I gotta hawk my wife about how the day went.
Dan Patrick
What is tonight all about?
Todd Fritz
Tonight is the second night of Rosh Hashanah, and, you know, you. You get together with family and friends. I'm going up the road to my friend's house. And again, it's all part of the Rosh Hashanah to Yom Kippur High holy days. I don't really have any more details than that. It's been a while since I was in Hebrew school. But I know I'm eating some kosher food and.
Dan Patrick
Do you know more than we do? And we're not even Jewish.
Todd Fritz
You guys probably know very similar amount that I know. Maybe I know slightly more. Like, I know a couple of Yiddish words like schwitzing, but, you know, I.
Dan Patrick
Know the Yiddish words.
Todd Fritz
I don't know. I don't have a lot.
Dan Patrick
Yes.
Todd Fritz
One of you, at least in this room, may know more than I do.
Dan Patrick

Paulie
Yes, Paul, College football always has the big week one, then that dip week two or three where they mix in a couple cupcakes. Then it ramps up.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, that's pretty good. That's pretty good. Pretty spicy. Do you think they ever thought About Shawshank Redemption 2? Made a lot. Yeah.
Paulie
Made a lot of money.
Seaton
They get stopped for a traffic ticket.
Dan Patrick
Red does any outstanding warrants Bills? No. Yes.
Todd Fritz
Todd, what is like still redeeming. You got to have a little kick. You can't just put it to. You have to have a little phrase.
Dan Patrick
Back, back, back to Shawshank. Yeah, but the warden, he wouldn't be able to be in it. No. No, he would not be able to. Andy Dufresne.
Todd Fritz
That's pretty good. Just now.
Dan Patrick
Was it?
Todd Fritz
That's pretty good.
Dan Patrick
Morgan Frisbee. Thank you. Yes.
Paulie
Paulie I don't know the actor that played the warden in Shawshank, but that's an all time great job by him.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, well, it's very great bad guy. Seaton's been working on his Chris Collinsworth impersonation.
Seaton
Oh, man, you have to have it.
Todd Fritz
We have to have it again.
Dan Patrick
Can you. Can you dial it up here with a Patrick Mahomes throw? Yeah. I mean, look at this guy right here. I mean, who else can make that pass? I mean, look at. This is just unbelievable. I mean, look at this. I mean, threw the ball backwards. It's a bad pass. Doesn't even hit his receiver. Then he recovers the plot. Nobody else in the league can do that.
Todd Fritz
I love that.
Dan Patrick
That's. How great is this guy? I know. That's what I wanted to say to Chris.
Seaton
I love Chris Collinsworth.
Dan Patrick
No, he's great at what he does. Yeah, he's great. Great. But not every throw that Mahomes makes is.
Seaton
Gotta admit, a lot of times when I see his Chiefs and it's. And I'm like, ah, God, this is not gonna be.
Dan Patrick
I gotta gear up for this. I mean, who else could make that throw? Look at. There's seven yards over the middle. Like, who could do that? Trip in Vegas. Hi, Trip. What's on your mind today?
Caller/Listener
Hey, D.P. i was thinking, instead of a grade for Fritzi, why don't we put a stock ticker up in the Peacock so I can watch his rating for the day, see how he's doing.
Dan Patrick
So you're. You'd be a stock.
Todd Fritz
Yeah, like a bull bear market kind of thing?
Dan Patrick
No, no, I. I mean, we would only have fun with this. I. I don't want to have your stock price fluctuate.
Todd Fritz
What's my stock, like, abbreviation thing?
Dan Patrick
Oh, I don't know.
Todd Fritz
I'm sure you'll come up with something mean. I'm just a couple minutes.
Dan Patrick
Do you consider me mean?
Todd Fritz
Not mean. Playful?
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I am.
Todd Fritz
But it can't be just TJF or FZY for Fritzi. I don't know. It has to be three letters, four letters.
Dan Patrick
How does it work, Fritz? Potato chips.
Todd Fritz
Oh, you can bring that up.
Dan Patrick
Just the fact that one of your schoolmates. I know.
Todd Fritz
Fritz. Upper body part, female potato chips. Hilarious.
Dan Patrick
Jimmy in California. Hi, Jimmy. What's on your mind today?
Caller/Listener
Hey, Dan. I actually met you in 2001. You're not going to remember, but I remember it well. You were very polite, very cordial. I met you at the Cubby Bear. It's just post 9 11. You were upstairs in the corner. My only trip to Chicago ever. What a great bar and really cool. Bruce Willis's band was playing downstairs that night.
Dan Patrick
Yep.
Caller/Listener
And John Goodman was guesting. It was awesome. So thanks for being great when I met you.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I. I do remember that. And then I remember, I think John Goodman was fell asleep up on the stage with the band. Yeah, Bruce Willis's band. And wait. I loved going to Wrigleyville. Lot of. Lot of fun times. David in Phoenix. Hi, David. What's on your mind?
Caller/Listener
Hi, Dan. I have a hot take. Okay, pause for drama. The Steelers Mike Tomlin will retire and they will hire Jay Harbaugh as their next head coach starting next year.
Dan Patrick
Okay, well, thank you, David. You heard it here first. So Jim Harbaugh's son gets hired by the Steelers. Is that what David is saying? And Jim's son is the special teams coordinator. The. With Seattle, I believe. Okay. I. I mean, I think there's a lot of ways to look at this. Are Tomlin and Aaron Rodgers kind of a package deal? If it goes well, do they come back again? If it doesn't, Does Mike take time out, time off, maybe getting in tv? I had the source of former TV executive who said he could see Dabo Sweeney doing what Nick Saban's doing. And that would be interesting because I think he would have an. A fun personality if he decided that he wanted to do it. Yes, Todd.
Todd Fritz
But he just did that rant saying, I'll just coach somewhere else if you don't want me here. I've got a lot of years left.
Dan Patrick
I'm young.
Todd Fritz
I'll coach somewhere else.
Dan Patrick
Is that your Dabo swing?
Todd Fritz
It's just what he said. More than an actual person.
Dan Patrick
Okay. All right.
Todd Fritz
But he did make it sound like he's got several years of coaching still in me.
Dan Patrick
He does.
Todd Fritz
There.
Dan Patrick
He's only 55. This day in sports history.
Paulie
Paul September 23, 1908. Giants. San Francisco Giants.
Dan Patrick
No.
Paulie
New York Giants versus the Chicago Cubs. Fred Merkel failed to touch second base, cost the Giants the pennant. The Cubs and end up winning the pennant and winning their World Series in 1908.
Dan Patrick
And his nickname was Bonehead.
Paulie
Yep.
Dan Patrick
You know, it didn't go well if somebody calls you by your nickname. Bonehead. Fred Bonehead Merkel. Jose Canseco, 1988. First player to steal 40 and hit 40 home runs in a season. Dan Hurley of the Yukon Huskies. Tomorrow. I. I think. Is there a memoir?
Todd Fritz
Yeah, he's got a new memoir out and he's looking forward to chatting with you comes out next week, so we're going to actually chat with him a few days before it even gets released.
Dan Patrick
How old should you have to be to put out a memoir?
Todd Fritz
57 and a half at least.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, he's 52. That's early. It feels like there's going to be a memoir to a sequel. Todd, what'd you learn today?
Todd Fritz
The name Ruth's Chris Steakhouse wasn't done. Totally out of arrogance by good old Ruth. A fire caused them to move location. She couldn't keep the name legally as just Chris's Steakhouse.
Dan Patrick
Seaton, what did you learn?
Seaton
According to the Internet, the quarterback we were referring to in the first hour of the show who kept getting punched in his arm by Max Crosby.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Seaton
Was Patrick Mahomes. Oh, not Aaron Rod.
Dan Patrick
Okay, thank you, Marvin.
Marvin
Jack Harbaugh can take care of himself.
Dan Patrick
