So what happened at Chappaquiddick?
Danielle Robaix
Well, it really depends on who you talk to.
Rich
There are many versions of what happened in 1969 when a young Ted Kennedy drove a car into a pond and.
Danielle Robaix
Left a woman behind to drown.
Covino
Chappaquiddick is a story of a tragic death and how the Kennedy machine took control.

Covino
Did George Washington really cut down a cherry tree?
Danielle Robaix
Were JFK and Marilyn Monroe having an affair?
Rich
And I find the answers. I am so glad you asked me this question.
Danielle Robaix
This is such a ridiculous story.
Rich

Rich
You are listening to the Dan Patrick show on Fox Sports Radio.
Bob Crawford
We're live from the iHeart Studios in Atlanta. Covino Rich, day three of the Dan Patrick Hatrick. Thank you guys for hanging out with us. Had a great time at the all star game at the home run derby. We really nerded out. Gotta admit that.
Covino
In fact, speaking of the big dumper, if you go to at covine on Rich, there's video of us standing right behind him in the cage watching him hit some bombs during batting practice. And we did focus on the big dumper.
Bob Crawford
True story. A lot of nice dumpers here in Atlanta. Be part of history on August 2nd at the MLB Speedway Classic as the Braves take on the Reds at the iconic Bristol Motor Speedway. For the first time ever, MLB is going to host a regular season game in the state of Tennessee. Gates open early for a full day of music, food, yes, games and fan experiences, including a concert stage headlined by Jake Owen. Tickets are going fast. Get yours now. MLB.com Speedway Classic. I gotta look. What are we doing August 2nd?
Covino
I by the way, I've been we.
Bob Crawford
Made some good MLB connections. We gotta go.
Covino
I've been to a Jake Owen concert. Danny G. I know you have as well. Great live. So this is gonna be a fun event for mlb.
Bob Crawford
Oh, Jake Owen. I thought it was Gary Owen, your favorite comedian. Yeah, Jake Owen.
Rich
And don't forget way off Tim McGraw also.
Bob Crawford
I know man, that's a day gonna.
Covino
Be a big deal. And listen, we've been swinging from MLB all morning because they had a great week. And you know what? If you're going to criticize and be critical and you know Kavino and I have a theory that if you have the ability to be tough on people when things aren't good, you got to give them props when they deserve it. And for all the people that love to be like, yo, baseball was boring or did this, when someone does something right, you got to give them props. And baseball had a big week.
Bob Crawford
One of baseball's biggest criticism is how they didn't evolve. Yeah, I mean we saw history in the making last night and it was exciting as could be. So love all the changes. Win for baseball. And thank you guys for hanging out with us. Covino and Rich. Everything at Covino and Rich. If you want to follow our Atlanta adventures at Covino and Rich. If you want to hate on us, that's fine too. As long as you listen as Long as you get involved at FOX Sports Radio and we gotta, we gotta go from deep to cheap.
Covino
All the cheapest.
Bob Crawford
And it's really is our buddy, and I say this and I mean it, our buddy. He's one of the coolest guys we work with. Rob Parker, you could work at a place and the veterans either big time you or treat you like, like you're the man. And Rob Parker is one of those guys. He's just down with everybody, always having a good time. But is he a cheapskate? That's really what we got to get to. Or is he smart?
Covino
That's the question. Now Rob Parker, a lot of people know him from espn, Fox Sports. Over the years, he's one of the biggest sports writers. Goes back to, you know, to the 80s with Stephen A. In the early days, Rob Parker was 86, a guy that covered the 86 Mets. And he loves to talk about that. So Rob Parker, we give him props because he's a great dude and he's.
Bob Crawford
One of the shows of the Odd.
Covino
Couple, one of the shows on Fox Sports. Right.
Rich
And sounds like there's a but coming.
Covino
Oh, there is. I like to do a compliment sandwich.
Bob Crawford
Danny A big Cal Rawling, not the.
Covino
Big butts he saw at Magic City. I saw him on Instagram, but no one else I saw on his Instagram besides him outside Magic City in Atlanta that for his road trip he does mlb, bro. Does a lot of great work with baseball. Our very own Rob Parker. Can you want to read the caption says?
Bob Crawford
This is how you prepare for a cross country trip from Atlanta to la. Night before you got you go to the grocery store and buy a few reduced price sandwiches, put them in a fridge in my hotel room, overnight bingo. Bingo at the airport. These are $16 each. It's not being cheap, it's being smart. Now these aren't even fresh sandwiches though. So he's traveling with like sandwiches that are reduced in price because they were.
Covino
Sitting around, they were boxed at the supermarket, but sat in that like cooler for probably a day or so.
Bob Crawford
So he's got gouda sliders, chicken salad. Yeah. For $2 each thing was $2 and 70 cents. So he spent a little over five bucks.
Rich
Chicken salad, croissant is the other one. And we were talking about this on the car ride over the iHeart studios here. The chicken salad has mayonnaise in it, correct?
Covino
Yeah, I mean this is a questionable choice by Rob Parker. You know, reduced price, old chicken salad. Now you would say, well, they're not gonna sell it if it's old. Listen, I am a man that tries to find a bargain who isn't right. What man or woman is in trying to find a good deal? If I have people over my house for a cookout, a barbecue, my wife's grilling up some stuff on her green egg and I'm doing burger dogs, I will say, if I see reduced meat and I see them doing it while I'm there, I'm like, yeah, sell this. If it says like, sell by tomorrow, I'm like, I'm gonna cook it in an hour. Yeah, I'll, I'll take some skirt steak or cheeseburgers that reduce price. Cause I'm cooking it now. I saw bacon, which is cured meat, and it was like, yeah, they must have had too much of a shipment. I saw bacon for half price. I'm like, I'm gonna make this tomorrow for breakfast. No one's above that. You ever go to the bakery section and you see they just mark down all like the muffins or cakes. I know you love markdown cakes.
Bob Crawford
Who doesn't love nice, juicy, glistening cakes?
Rich
The brown, the brownies don't give you salmonella though.
Covino
Yeah, I don't know your, your thoughts on this.
Bob Crawford
He just being a cheapskate or is this the best way to be? We can't say that the we Neils overspend and everybody's broke and then hate on a guy for trying to save a buck.
Rob Parker
Rob Parker.
Rich
I'm sorry to interrupt. I was just going to say Kobe. You gotta, you gotta add in his flight pattern.
Bob Crawford
Well, again, he spends. We've, we've often behind the scenes tried to figure this out. We'll ask Rob when we see him next. But he's a guy that travels a lot on his own dime, so he's gotta like budget. Everyone budgets and prioritizes differently, right? So maybe he cuts out on these weak ass, cheap ass meals, but he splurges at Magic City and it's like.
Covino
You know, everyone chooses where they spend. Like, I always find it funny. Like Kavino or his sneaker will spend, you know, a stupid amount of money on like, like some watch or sneakers. But Covino's the guy that won't download a two dollar app on his phone because you think, oh, I gotta pay for it. I'm not the only guy that's won't resubscribe to Apple TV because it's like five bucks, yet Camino be like, yo, look at these sweet new Jordans I bid on.
Bob Crawford
Right? But again, prioritizing Differently. So maybe Rob Parker cuts corners on things like this so that he could afford those new Travis Scott Nikes. Right. So that he can get an extra lap dance so that he can maybe splurge for a drink on his sweet flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles or whatever.
Rob Parker
Right?
Covino
Rob Parker.
Bob Crawford
So what do you think? Cheapskate? Cheapo or being smart?
Rich
Remember, he takes allegiant. Not allegiant. He takes. I'm sorry, what's the other one?
Covino
Spirit.
Rich
Spirit. He takes spirit airline flights. And they're the airlines that charge you extra if you breathe too many times on the.
Covino
They charge you. I think if you go to the.
Rich
Bathroom, they, they literally, they, they charge you for any, for any carry on.
Covino
Anything other than your little personal item.
Rich
Yeah.
Covino
And they charge for water on the.
Rich
So. So is Rob's toothbrush in his pocket? Like, what about your bathroom bag? Said on our network before that his thing is he finds the Ross dress for less wherever he flies to. He goes on to the plane with nothing. Nothing. He said he went like this when he told me with his hands. I walk on the plane like this and he's like, I land, I find my Ross dress for less. I get a bargain outfit and I don't even care if I don't take it back home or not.
Bob Crawford
So what does he roll back with his boxer shorts? That's insane.
Covino
So let me ask you this. What is it that you. Let's talk to our Dan Patrick friends. We appreciate you hanging with Covino and Rich. It could be sports related, it could be travel related, family related.
Rich
What.
Covino
What is your weird thing like, what are you willing to spend on? But then on the flip of it, you're like, no, no, no, I will not spend for that at all. And because we all have those things that you're willing to spend.
Bob Crawford
I mean, you pulled the Rob Parker trick here at the movie theater, don't you?
Covino
I was just gon. Like, if you go to a stadium, let's say you go into the Yankees game, right? You're going to Dodger Stadium. Danny G. If you bring your kid, you're not going to pack sandwiches and juice boxes.
Rich
Oh, definitely going to do that.
Bob Crawford
So isn't that essentially kind of what he's doing but on a plane ride? So again, if you just joined us, Rob Parker of the Odd Couple here on Fox Sports Radio posted this. You can see it at. Rob Parker, MLB bro, on social media. He's got a reduced price gouda sandwich. What are these gouda sliders for? $2.70 to reduce prices because they're old.
Rich
So that's the. That's where this is different. Rich than us. Like making a sandwich at home for.
Bob Crawford
Our little kid and a reduced price. Chicken salad, croissant for 270. So instead of paying 16 bucks at the airport, he says, look, five bucks for the ride home. That's how you do it. I'm not cheap. I'm smart.
Covino
You know what? They're not going to sell it, are they? If it's bad, I mean, they probably just got to get rid of it. I mean, like, listen, like I said, there have been times where I have people quite a bit for barbecues. If I go to the supermarket and I see, you know, clearly, sometimes supermarkets over order. Right. You've seen this, right? Sometimes they don't have something. Other times they're like, why. Why would hot dogs be $3 instead of 6? Because they must have a lot in of inventory. Okay, but take advantage of that.
Rich
Say he's got a long Uber ride from his Atlanta hotel to the airport.
Covino
Chicken sandwich.
Rich
And he's. And then the airport's hot inside at the terminal.
Covino
Hot chicken salad.
Rich
Yeah. Are you. So maybe they sell it and it's not bad yet, but by the time he arrives to his gate, it might be bad.
Bob Crawford
Yeah. That sandwich is sitting around his bag that whole time. That's also kind of odd. I agree with that. You know, maybe younger generations could take a page out of the Rob Parker book, because you sometimes need to be a baller on a budget to be able to do the things you want to do and not feel guilty about it.
Covino
All right, I'll give you one. And we all have them. What are you willing to spend money on and what are you a cheapskate on? I'll give you this. I'm more than willing to overspend and buy Starbucks or cocktails at a bar without even thinking about it. You go to Vegas, you go to an event. $20 old fashions or vodka sodas or 15 bucks, you go to Starbucks. Six, seven dollars for a coffee. I don't even think about it twice. But if I'm looking to buy just like a basic T shirt, I'm going to Target and getting like a good fellow, eight to $10 t shirt. If I see a designer.
Bob Crawford
This one I'm wearing now. Yeah, it's Banana Republic, Costco. I got it at Costco. Why would you overspend on T shirts?
Covino
But it's.
Bob Crawford
But I like plain T shirts.
Covino
But I'll back Kavino up. He dresses well. But I can never. Sometimes you go to a department store and you're like to designer t shirt for 80 bucks. I'm like, I could never do that.
Bob Crawford
$200 plain John Varvatos T shirt. What's the point?
Rich
That's cause you could dress up a generic T shirt with the rest of your wardrobe.
Bob Crawford
That is where I cut the biggest corner. You know, you try to look good. You want to look good, right? But who wants to overspend on a regular designer plain T shirt? You can get that at Old Navy.
Covino
I'll give you one. I think it's a lot of times you're disgusted on it not being something you're excited about. It's just more functional. Like to me, I'm taking my kids to their first Mets game at Citi Field on Friday. I went all out and we were like sitting right behind the Mets dugout. Ticket price doesn't bother me. You know what does though? Parking at the stadium and rental car. That drives me bonkers. The fact that hundreds of dollars to rent a car and park will eat at me. But the few hundred dollars a ticket, I'm like, yeah, I get it. It's, you know, I. We're all different in these ways. But it was just funny.
Bob Crawford
We'd bring it up real quick just finding the balance.
Covino
Yeah. Our buddy Rob Parker. We'll let a chicken salad sandwich for two bucks. D. I don't know if that's where you spend your and save your money.
Bob Crawford
We work with the guy. So we're not going to say you cheapskate. I mean we might, we're going to, we're going to let you say it on his social media page at Rob Park, I believe.
Covino
Mlb, bro.
Bob Crawford
Yeah. But if you read the comments, he's getting destroyed right now.
Rich
Friends and listeners, people are giving them the business.
Bob Crawford
They're definitely giving the business.
Covino
That's a great phrase. Giving them the business. Remember that was it a referee that gave a penalty for the business personal 69 offense.
Rich
He was giving them the business.
Covino
They're giving them the business.
Bob Crawford
We're giving Rob Parker the business. Although we understand, right? Because you got to balance out your life and your budget. What a cheapskate. This guy spends money. You should see his sneakers. He comes in and he's rocking his weak ass low budget sandwich. He's the guy sitting on a plane eating those stinking up the airplane. That's hard.
Covino
But think about it. Everyone's got their thing, you know. You definitely know guy that's buying a thousand dollar golf club. But he like, he, he won't buy sneaker. He buys like generic sneakers. But he has every golf club, he has a thousand dollars. So you see it all the time. Any examples? Hey, we'll chop it up at Covino and Rich. Now coming up, we have midweek major spots. Going to give you the hottest stories in the world of sports and entertainment. But I do have one quick hypothetical for you guys. Nothing to really do with sports, but I am. I said I am going to New York this Friday. I'm. I'm so excited to see.
Bob Crawford
Remember to pack your reduced price sandwiches.
Covino
I know, I'm gonna, I'm gonna see. I'm gonna see if they have. What's a good thing. Do you think they might have some three day old salmon at the supermarket I could bring on the plane with me? Right? That was overwhelming. Yeah. Do you guys have any sushi? You know, like bargain sushi at the local store? So. So I'm flying to New York because we did the All Star game. We didn't know we were doing that. So my wife is flying from Los Angeles with the kids. We're having a fun week, fun long weekend in New York. We're back next week. I arrive at the airport two hours before my family. Their flight got a little delayed. Do I have to hang out the airport and wait for them? Or do I just. Or do I just.
Bob Crawford
You have two rugrats. If your wife was rolling solo, I could be hopping an Uber. She's a grown woman.
Covino
Maybe at the hotel, but because she got the two kids with her and.
Bob Crawford
All the bags and everything.
Rich
Yeah, fine. Find the massage place in the airport.
Covino
Do they do the. Oh, no. Like a legit massage. I'm joking, but yeah. Two hours and watch. Oh, you know what I'll do? Maybe I'll watch quarterback on Netflix.
Bob Crawford
Or.
Covino
Sit around, maybe go to the bar. I don't know.
Bob Crawford
Did you finish squid game?
Covino
I did.
Bob Crawford
Oh, you did?
Rob Parker
Yeah.
Rich
Yeah.
Bob Crawford
I don't know. Go to. Can you go see Superman and come back.
Covino
I'm just gonna be sitting at jfk. So if you, if you're a JFK tonight, you see me sitting around like a dope.
Bob Crawford
I think you have to. Yeah. Because you know what? That gets thrown. Your wife's not one of those. But it's get. It's the type of thing that gets thrown in your face.
Covino
Yeah.
Bob Crawford
And I had the kids and all the bags and you went home.
Covino
Yeah, I guess. I guess I won't go to the hotel.
Bob Crawford
7799 on Fox. We want to chime in on that.
Covino
I will. You know, people are chiming in. Let's say hi to Dan in Michigan. Dan, you're on with Kavino and Rich in for dp. We were just, you know, making fun of our buddy Rob Parker, giving him the business. What do you save money on, but yet you're willing to spend on something else? What do you got, buddy?
Rich
Hey, guys, I'll tell you what I always spend money on. I will never not pay for the fast passes at Disney, Universal, etc. I ain't waiting in no line. Thank you.
Covino
Dude, I'm telling you, I did that for the first time a while back. And I'm not saying I'm not acting like a baller, but if you do have the money to spend that you put away for a vacation with your.
Bob Crawford
Kids, you have to reserve those at Disney now, though, right? Like a few days before, like, time it out. But can't just roll up with the fast pass.
Covino
But. Yeah, like a day or so in a bit. But there's a lightning pass at Disney. It's called, like, the lightning extreme or something. Whatever it was, it was. It was overpriced. But if you got little kids and you could skip every line, I don't think there's a price tag on that. I. I think that. I think that is. That is absolutely something.
Bob Crawford
Reduced lightning pass. Two dollars and seventy cents.
Covino
I ain't paying for that.
Bob Crawford
Rob Parker probably has a coupon for that.
Covino
All right, well, your thoughts. We'll get your feedback at Covino and Rich. And like I said, coming up, our buddy spots our video guy.
Bob Crawford
You think Rob Parker brings his own, like, giant turkey leg to the theme park? You know, how, like, you, sir, you.
Covino
Can'T bring that in. What do you want? $12 here, I got this one at Ralph's for three bucks.
Bob Crawford
I got a good deal on this one.
Covino
BYOT bring your own turkey leg.
Bob Crawford
He brings his own big giant lollipops because the ones at Disney are too expensive. He brings his own candy apple.
Covino
He brings his own Mickey ears.
Bob Crawford
It's too expensive here. Mickey's prices are too high. All right.
Covino
Hey, you could chime in again at Coveeno. Rich. Just having fun for DP fund of our DP hat trick. Dan will be back tomorrow. So if you're a big Dan Patrick fan, we really do appreciate Dan. Marvin, Seaton, Fritzi. All the Dan adds. We appreciate it. They're. Oh, they're out all week. Who's in tomorrow?
Rich
Two pros and a cup of joe.
Covino
All right. Cool. All right, well, enjoy. We got more Covino and Rich with midweek Major coming up next right here on FOX Sports Radio.

A couple years ago, Bob Odenkirk showed up out of nowhere as an action star and Nobody. I saw this movie in the theaters and I was completely caught off guard but pleasantly surprised by Bob Odenkirk's performance in the first Nobody. So I'm really excited about this one. He's back. In the sequel Nobody 2, hitting theaters August 15th, Bob returns his hutch. This time he tries to go on vacation with his family, only for all hell to break loose. It's a real delight to see a guy like Odenkirk kick some serious ass. And if you saw the first one, you know he can do it. So he's back again. Nobody 2 is produced by 87 north, the same team behind hits like John Wick, Bullet Train and the Fall Guy, so they have a great track record. The film also stars Connie Nielsen, RZA and the legendary Christopher Lloyd and Sharon Stone, so they got a great cast to go along with Bob odenkirk in this one. Nobody 2 is a perfect summer movie. You don't want to miss this one. Nobody 2 is in theaters August 15th.

All right, now back to you guys. Let's get it. Let's get into it. Before we get into midweek, major people hitting us up about the things they're cheap about versus things I feel like.
Bob Crawford
You'Re cheap on your sneakers.
Covino
I wear Nike Dunks or Jordans.
Bob Crawford
You could buy Nike dunks at, like, a discount store. I'm paying for that, Rich, like, because.
Covino
I don't have $250 rare Jordans like you.
Bob Crawford
Regular Jordans are, like, 110 to 130 bucks.
Covino
That's what I spend on sneakers.
Bob Crawford
You know, I'm not saying that you should, but if you're working hard, you know, the shoes on your feet are like the tires on your car. They're important.
Covino
Yeah, some people are showy guys like you. Let's go to Dan in Michigan. What's up, Dan?
Bob Crawford
Air Max 90s. They're not anything extravagant.
Covino
Good for you and your shoes, Dan. What's up, buddy? Johnny in Michigan. What's up, Johnny?
Rich
Guys, how we doing?
Covino
We're good, man. What's up, man?
Rich
You guys. You guys got an incredible show. First and foremost, man, I've been. I've been listening, dude. You guys are like. You guys are like rock stars. I tried calling in on a contest you guys had, but didn't work out. But I do a lot of announcing for. For, like, professional sports, amateur sports, and, man. And so I have no problem getting, like, memorabilia. Boxing gloves, you know, thousand bucks or $500 or, you know, sports cards or whatnot. My man. I will be damned if I'm gonna pay the price that they want for silverware and plates. So I go off and I buy plastic forks, and I wash them, and I get kind of irritated when my daughters throw them in the trash. But I'll go, oh, you know, you're.
Bob Crawford
Talking to Rich Davis, who steals them from Chipotle. Like, this is John stealing. He has bags of pantry. Yeah, he's a trash bag. Rich is a trash bag. You know what? Can we rename the title of this discussion? Rich is a trash bag. He steals.
Covino
He's trash.
Bob Crawford
Plastic forks and spoons and knives from Chipotle. And that's why your prices are so high. That's why they charge you $4 for.
Covino
A little cup of guacamole.
Bob Crawford
Because Rich Davis is stealing all the inventory.
Covino
I go to Chipotle, like, twice a week, right? It's my. My favorite. Hold on. It's my favorite. Go to. I spend a lot of money there. Doesn't give you the right. And if I go there, and instead of grabbing two forks, my wife and I, I grab a handful, five to ten. And I can. I compile them. So when we have people.
Bob Crawford
You're a handsome guy with a goofy smile. Doesn't make it okay. I'm sorry. I would never get away with that. They'd stop me at the door. That's BS and you know it. BS Barakas.
Covino
Rich David, just say because you're Latino, they'd stop.
Bob Crawford
I'm just saying I got a resting.
Covino
Can I roll more at you?
Bob Crawford
It has nothing. Did I say that or did you say that? It's just, it could be my demeanor. But just because you smile and point like Shooter McGavin and Wink at somebody on the way out, that doesn't give.
Covino
You the right to steal handfuls of.
Bob Crawford
Plastic silverware at Chipotle.
Covino
Things are free. They're not stealing.
Bob Crawford
So there's another one. Rich cuts the corners on that.
Rich
I have a hack for you. Yogurt Land. In places like that, they give. They give away, Rich, one or two to how many yogurts you buy. But the frozen yogurt spoons, are those like really solid plastic ones? The good ones?
Bob Crawford
Yeah, I know you're thinking.
Rich
And we don't throw those away. They go in the dishwasher. They latch forever.
Bob Crawford
They're great for your little kids. You know, he's got a two year old now.
Covino
I could go to Chipotle and Yogurt land.
Bob Crawford
But you know, our last caller did make me think of something else too, though. Not only that Rich Davis is trash because he does that all the time, but he's trash. If you work in a certain industry, right? Like we work in music and sports broadcasting, it's tough for me to shell out on certain ticket prices because I know how easy, well it used to be to get your hands on some when you work in the business, right? So sometimes you're always looking for that deal on those tickets. Like sometimes I refuse to pay that much money for a concert ticket. I'm like, man, God bless the people that do. I can't do it.
Covino
No matter how successful people become, I can never understand people. I get when you get upgraded and points and miles and all that. But people that willingly buy first class tickets or only stay at like the top hotels, like to me perks, bro. Sometimes, sometimes a hotel is a hotel.
Rob Parker
Like a.
Covino
If I'm just with you on a quick trip.
Rich
No, you're sounding like Ben Maller. Okay? You guys gave Rob, okay? Ben Maller from Fox Sports Radio is famous for spending nothing on hotels. And when I ask him about bedbugs, he's like, ah, that. No, there's not, there's not bedbugs. Problems everywhere. And I'm like, that's what you think, bro. I don't want to I don't want to go on a, like a guy's trip with him because he won't chip in for a nice hotel stays in.
F
A tent outside the west well.
Bob Crawford
And the reason we're here is because we were given Rob Parker the business. Because he takes old rotten sandwiches onto the airplane, because he gets them at discount reduced prices at the grocery store and refuses to pay $16 a sandwich. So the question was, is he smart or a cheapskate? And what do you cut corners on?
Covino
Eric will wrap with him in Vegas. What's up, Eric?
Rich
Hey, guys, how you doing? I got a great one for you. You're gonna love me for this. So I hate fine furniture and vacuums and stuff like that. I live in Summerlin here in Las Vegas in these scenarios. So people tend to throw away things that are pretty new on the regular. So what I'll do is on overhaul day, I'll drive around the neighborhood and I'll find stuff maybe people threw away the use a couple times that might have broke. And I'll scan the QR code and make a warranty claim on it and get a brand new one mailed to me free.
Covino
Oh, you're a cheap stuff. You know what? I had one that I recently changed my mind because we could all evolve, right? We could all evolve.
Bob Crawford
Thanks for sharing, bud.
Covino
I used to be the guy. I was the king of the cheap $10 gas station phone charger. And then I'm like, you know what I mean? Or like the cheap ass phone case. The last upgrade I got on my phone like a year ago, I was like, all right, let me get a big boy charger at the Apple store and a nice case with the magnet and everything. And you know what? It made me realize how much I wasted on just continuously buying these crappy $10 chargers. Like, buy the power charger. Buy a nice phone case with the magnet on the back. It might cost you triple the amount, but it'll last you. So there's things we're all cheap on. I agree. It's. It sucks.
Bob Crawford
All right, so, hey, continue giving Rob the business.
Covino
What about underwear? Because you want to make sure your undergarments are nice, but are you willing to buy like Saks or Tommy John? Are these nice like or are you buying like, cheap Hanes?
Bob Crawford
What does Tommy John have to do with this?
Covino
Stop it.
Bob Crawford
All right, anyway, thank you guys for hanging out with us. Buy some nice chonies if you're trying to impress your lady. And it's time for mid week major.
Covino
Let's go.
Rich
Covino and Rich gets you over the middle of the week with midweek. Major.
Covino
Oh, I love that.
Rich
We throw sports and pop culture headlines and top at the fellas. And it's like the kids say, that's summit.
Danielle Robaix
We definitely major.
Rich
CNR scoring midweek. Major. I gotta go really quick here so we can give Spotty seven full minutes.
Bob Crawford
Why do you do this to me?
Rich
Yeah, we're guessing Atlanta's I Heart studio. I have no red love dice here, but what I did, I wrote a number down between 1 and 10. Covino go first. Boy, sticking hard on this.
Covino
It's not that hard. Number eight.
Bob Crawford
I wanted to pick a nice round number.
Covino
We live in the same stupid brain. I wrote down eight.
Rich
All three of us live in the same stupid brain. Look what I wrote down. Spot. Oh, my God.
Covino
All right. Pick between 1 and 100. We have to do this again because Rich goes first. All right, fine.
Rich
And now, ladies and gentlemen, the most famous person from Scotch Pls. New Jersey besides Judy Blue.
Covino
Down to four minutes because we have.
Rich
To pick a number.
Covino
I mean, who are you thinking of? Steve Young? Gary, Here we go.
Rich
Quickly.
Covino
All right.
F
Since Rich is first, Pete Alonzo, him. It's all Star week. Obviously a lot of headlines in the news with that. But Pete Alonso has a suggestion for MLB that might amphis things up even more than they already are. So during this week's festivities, he was asked one rule he'd change given his opportunity in mlb, and without hesitation. He said that pitchers and hitters should be able to fight each other like they do in the nf. NHL say that hitters shouldn't be ejected for charging the mound or fighting. He said it should be hockey style. So no teams, no nothing. Because that's when people can get hurt. If you want to go out and charge the mound, you should be able to. But you have the option to take a knee. If you don't want to fight, you could just stop, set out. But if you chart someone charges, charges them out. It's one versus one hockey style. So if polar bear Pete could take over, that's what he would do. Midweek or major?
Covino
Dude, this is major.
Danielle Robaix
Definitely major.
Covino
And I'll tell you why. Because he's the polar bear. He would whoop everyone's ass. People would think twice about throwing Pete high and tight. Pete Alonso also is. I'm a Mets fan. He's one of the most lovable goons there are. So if anyone was going to say this, I feel like Pete's the guy. But listen, baseball's Hot right now. It's popping. So add some fights to it. Now you're talking.
Bob Crawford
You know it's major.
Danielle Robaix
Definitely.
Bob Crawford
It sounds silly but I think he's really onto something here because what makes it dangerous, everybody running out there could turn into a full on brawl. 99% of the time it's a, it's a nothing burger and everyone just runs out there to say what's up. But yeah, take matters into your own hands. The one weird thing is taking a knee because man, who's gonna do that? You're gonna get criticized for the rest.
Covino
Of you look, I look like a wuss unless you're Ohtani and you do it in like an honorable way. But I like is he such a friendly guy?
Bob Crawford
One on one sort of match. I'm the type of guy that'll watch any fight. I'm excited about Pacquiao this weekend. So you're the guy. Sign me up for this. We all love a good baseball brawl but if it's a one on one thing, I'm all for it. I think he's really honest something. It makes it safer because if you're gonna throw at me. Let's go.
Rich
All right.
F
Over to the WNBA 2 story. So the athletic known for its anonymous player polls across multiple leagues, well, they've finally conducted their anonymous player poll the WNBA and asked the biggest question on everyone's mind and that's who do they think the face of the league will be within the next five years? And a whopping 53.8% of players answered who you might expect. No, not three time sportswoman of the year Angel Reese. It's actually yeah, Fever Zone Caitlin Clark. Behind her was USC star JuJu Watkins with 17.9% and Wings rookie Paige Beckers with 14.1%. Some of the anonymous comments about Clark include quote, she's clearly already a draw but she's. And she still has room to improve as a player with another one saying that she is quote currently the face of the league already. So despite not being the best player, evident that she's moving the needle with things so midweek or major.
Covino
I mean sort of mid. That's so middle because we knew this already. But I'm wondering the other. The 46.2% of players that didn't vote for Caitlin Clark, like what are they watching? What numbers are they looking at? It's clear that when Caitlin Clark doesn't play or when Caitlin Clark is injured or something happens. They've moved games Camino to bigger arenas because of Caitlin Clark for Her not to be the answer. You're just tone deaf ing your own sport.
Bob Crawford
I think it's major because again, Rich said it, 46.2% of the league is still hating on her. Still hating.
Covino
Still don't acknowledge the reality.
Bob Crawford
Give me a break. But maybe there is a point I'll give. I'll throw the button there, the big thumper in there, because, I mean, she just got hurt again. Yeah, we don't know what the future looks like. I mean, is it going to be a health issue moving forward? Now, the other players don't know.
Covino
The other players mentioned Juju Watkins and Paige Beckers. They're great young athletes. But if you're asking who the face of the league is, like, that's not even like a question. It would be like saying that you don't believe Ohtani and Judge are like the faces of baseball. Come on, get with it. As my dad would say, get with it.
F
Cal rally is the butt of the.
Covino
Is the butt of the league.
F
All right, so Shaq also getting some headlines along the lines of WNBA stepping up to defend Caitlin Clark's rival Angel Reed by sending a very stern warning to RG3. So during an appearance on the off the Record podcast, Shaq went on a rant about RG3 reposting a racist meme of Reese on his X page. Shaq took off his glasses, stared into the camera, and said directly at RD3, if you post another meme like that, he's going to, quote, punch you in your effing face. Okay, it's enough. He acknowledged he usually doesn't do stuff like that, but to leave Angel Reese alone. He said he even advised Reese against even responding or commenting about RG3's post. RG3 yet to respond to any of this, but we'll see how it grows. Midweek or major.
Covino
I mean, I, I think it's major because Shaq said he was gonna punch RG3 in the face. But RG3, RG3 and Shaq just, why not have it like, you know, celebrity pre card to the next Jake Paul fight?
Bob Crawford
I mean, that's right. Sugar, Shane, Mo, mostly I'll fight RG3.
Covino
I mean, to be on Shaq's bad side is weird because I feel like Shaq's such a lovable guy. So RG3, good luck with that.
Bob Crawford
Don't double cross me. It's a little misleading to the story because it's not like RG3 posted the race. He reposted it and sort of defended Angel Reese in A backwards way and then made it about him. And, you know, it was kind of taken out of context. It was a really weird sort of post by RG3. But I love the fact that Shaq is saying he'll punch him in the nose because I love drama and I love fights. I already said that.
Covino
Yeah.
Bob Crawford
Bring it to the ring. Let's go.
F
All right, if you're trying to land a beautiful woman, like, we'll go back to the wnba. Like, WNBA star Cameron Brink may want to head back to English class. So on the latest episode of Brink's podcast, Straight to Cam, she was discussing the topic of icks. I know we all love that term icks with her teammate Derek Camby and Netz Terrence. Terrence Mann bring said, maybe it's the Stanford girl in me, but grammar is very important to me, and if I see something with bad grammar or someone misspells something, it really irks me. So grammar, her big turn.
Covino
I think it's mid. Because we all have, quote, we just don't call them icks. Like, there's a trend now where younger women are like, I'm not going to shave my legs and armpits. That's my ick. That's disgusting.
Bob Crawford
But.
Covino
But Cameron Brink is a lot to listen. I had a buddy that once dumped a hot girl because they were at a restaurant, and she kept saying shrimps, plural, instead of shrimp.
F
Shrimps.
Covino
Shrimp.
Bob Crawford
Clearly, she wasn't that hot then, because if that's gonna be the deal breaker.
Covino
I mean, grammar is important. Kavino.
Bob Crawford
I mean, I mean, it's important, but if she's a smoke show and she says shrimps, I think you'll make a pass.
Covino
What if she says deers, too?
Bob Crawford
Yeah, I think. I think you'll overlook that. Yeah, it's a mix. Mid story. I agree with Rich, because everybody does have. I hate the word ick, but preferences. No.
Rich
Yeah.
Bob Crawford
I think grammar is important.
Covino
Because of it, though.
Bob Crawford
Exactly.
Covino
All right. Hey, thanks, Spot.
Bob Crawford
Oh, okay. Sure.
Covino
Oh, you want one more quickie? What was the last one? What are we missing?
F
It's going to be about Nick Sirianni.
Covino
Defend.
F
Defending Hertz.
Covino
But he's still doing that. They want a Super Bowl.
F
Still doing it.
Rich
Hertz.
F
Rent a car.
Covino
Yes.
Rich
That's okay. Yeah.
F
Tom Brady and his electric cars.
Covino
All right, well, hey, we're going to wrap with some NFL. There's a story about one of your favorite NFL hotshots From the past 20 years, a guy that we thought might have blew up the league, but he sort of fell flat. We'll get to that and a little more NFL next before we get out of here. In for Dan Patrick, your butts, Covino and Rich.

A couple years ago Bob Odenkirk showed up out of nowhere as an action star and nobody I saw this movie in the theaters and I was completely caught off guard but pleasantly surprised by Bob Odenkirk's performance in the first Nobody. So I'm really excited about this one. He's back. In the sequel Nobody 2, hitting theaters August 15, Bob returns his hutch. This time he tries to go on vacation with his family, only for all hell to break loose. It's a real delight to see a guy like Odenkirk kick some serious ass. And if you saw the first one, you know he can do it. So he's back again. Nobody 2 is produced by 87 north, the same team behind hits like like John Wick, Bullet Train and the Fall Guy, so they have a great track record.

It's the world famous CNR show. World famous? Never heard of them. Covino and Rich in for Dan Patrick. I say world famous because perhaps you saw our television appearance at the home run derby.
Covino
Bushwhacking in left field.
Bob Crawford
Bushwhacker boys are back. We're live right now from the Iheart studios in Atlanta. Pickleball is booming and Tyrell is leading the charge. Tyrell makes a shoe built for pickleball with a rugged Vibram outsole that outlasts tennis shoes. More comfort, grip and game. Tyrol T Y R O L remember the name.
Covino
Play longer, move quicker and look like a pro@tyrol pickleball.com all right, now before we get out of here, a little dose of NFL. Because the reality is NFL, as much as we're hanging from baseball, NFL's king. And as we get closer to the season, the speculation about every quarterback, every team who's doing what predictions we've talked about already. Who are the top 10 quarterbacks? Is Aaron Rodgers going to take the Steelers to the next level? Is he done? Could Jalen Hurts, you know, do this all again? Like are the Niners? Is their window closed? Like every day there's stories. It just we all know that before you know it, this is going to be the day to day daily conversation and and a guy that you probably thought you were going to watch play a little bit more than you did in the NFL. Johnny Manziel was on the impulsive podcast.
Rich
Yeah. Jake Paul asked Johnny Football if he could have been one of the all time greats. I don't know about one of the all time greats, but I definitely could have been a person that played in the NFL for eight to 10 years. Manzel said. I had a lot of talent, a lot of ability that I know was.
Covino
Special and I can't disagree with that sentiment.
Bob Crawford
Totally agree with him.
Covino
I mean I don't think anyone ever doubted like that Johnny Menzel's talent. I think they they questioned much like a Jamarcus Russell, they questioned can you put it all together in the NFL.
Bob Crawford
Because it's if he had discipline, he could have been like Baker Mayfield you don't think like the same sort of scrappy makeup if he wasn't his own worst enemy, tripping on his own cleats and getting in his own way? I think so. If he had a certain level of discipline, he could have had a solid career. I truly believe that.
Rich
See, the biggest what if of NFL.
Bob Crawford
QBs, he's one of them. He's one of them.
Covino
There's a lot of big what ifs. Our pal Joe Bimel, former baseball pitcher, played around the league on a bunch of teams for over a decade. I saw him recently put out a video. You know, younger people asking Joe, he does a baseball clinic. Bimole athletics. I saw him saying, kids ask, what does it take to make it to the bigs? And he's like, of course, talent, discipline, talent and genetics is such a big part of it. But you gotta want to put the work in. And when you think you're putting enough work in, you're not putting enough work in. Like, you got to put the work in and be so disciplined.
Bob Crawford
Discipline is doing what you hate, but, like, you love it and just want.
Covino
It more than the next guy, right? He said, there's been guys with way more talent than him that didn't even make the bigs because they didn't have what it took. And I saw my. My boy Francisco Lindor, interviewed at the All Star Game, and someone asked him about what keeps you motivated, and he's like, I'll be honest, I don't. I don't think in terms of motivation, because motivation comes and goes. I'm disciplined. Because you could be motivated one day, have an off day, a bad day, a great day. Good.
Bob Crawford
But Lindor's mindset, you know, leads to preparedness, consistency, and consistency. Yeah, he's absolutely right. It's a. Interesting answer, but he's right, Lindor. Motivation comes and goes. It goes through phases. Sometimes you have it, sometimes you don't. Sometimes you don't want to get out of bed. But as Mike Tyson said, that's when discipline kicks in. Sometimes I don't want to get out of bed.
Covino
Yeah. Do you think Floyd Mayweather, as much as you may love or hate that guy, you think Mayweather wanted to train every morning at 5am running the streets for miles and miles and miles and no, it's the discipline.
Bob Crawford
But Johnny Manziel is definitely one of the top answers when it comes to the what ifs. What if he had the discipline? What if he was able to continue his career? You know, I think Len Bias is another top answer. That always comes up.
Covino
And that might be the number one answer.
Bob Crawford
Derrick Rose. Because the what ifs are there for him. Even though he had a great career. It's like, man, what if he didn't get injured, right. Because he was coming on strong?
Covino
But. But what if Len Bias and not passed away? Probably does the whole dynamic of the NBA change for a decade? Plus, that might be the number one answer. All right, we'll see you guys when we're back.
Bob Crawford
We're back on Tuesday at our regular time, 2 to 4 on the west, 5 to 7 on the east right here on FOX Sports Radio.

The episode kicks off with Bob Crawford introducing the central question: Is their colleague Rob Parker a cheapskate or simply smart with his finances?
Rob Parker’s Frugality:
Covino highlights Rob Parker’s habit of purchasing discounted sandwiches for his travels.
Bob Crawford [05:35]: "He's one of the coolest guys we work with... But is he a cheapskate? That's really what we got to get to. Or is he smart?"
Rob’s strategy involves buying reduced-price items like gouda sliders and chicken salad croissants to save money. The hosts discuss the practicality and potential downsides of this approach.
Rob Parker [05:56]: "What do you think? Cheapskate? Cheapo or being smart?"
The hosts share their own spending dilemmas, balancing what they choose to save on versus what they decide to splurge.
Covino:
"I'm more than willing to overspend and buy Starbucks or cocktails at a bar without even thinking about it... but if I'm looking to buy a basic T-shirt, I'm going to Target."
Bob Crawford:
"I could never overspend on a regular designer plain T-shirt. You can get that at Old Navy."
Rich:
Discusses his habit of reusing plastic utensils from places like Chipotle and Yogurt Land, sparking humorous banter about the ethics and practicality of such practices.
Rich shares a humorous anecdote about his habit of collecting plastic forks and spoons from Chipotle, leading to playful ribbing from Bob and Covino.
Covino [30:25]: "Rich Davis is trash because he does that all the time, but he's trash."

Covino and Rich discuss the positive changes in baseball, emphasizing the game's historical evolution and recent exciting developments.
Covino [04:42]: "Baseball had a big week. One of baseball's biggest criticisms is how they didn't evolve. We saw history in the making last night and it was exciting as could be."
The hosts transition to discussing a recent WNBA player poll, revealing Caitlin Clark as the projected face of the league over Angel Reese. This sparks debate on player popularity and league dynamics.
Covino [36:56]: "Pete Alonso has a suggestion for MLB... he said that pitchers and hitters should be able to fight each other like they do in the NFL."
