Pacific it's only natural you see these golfers mistaken the true green lawns for an actual golf course. Have you noticed that?
Marvin
Come on.
Dan Patrick
No, no, I'm serious. They're the official lawn care treatment provider, the PGA Tour, so they know what it takes to get golf quality lawns.
Seaton
So you're saying we could host a tournament out back?
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I guess we can. Get your own golf course quality lawn@trugreen.com trugreen.com let the pros handle the lawn. Just don't be surprised when golfers show up.
Marvin
I can't tell you how many times I've spilled something on my shirt right before walking out the door. And it's always while I'm wearing a white shirt too. And somehow that's the exact moment I realize I'm out of stain remover and I don't have another clean shirt to change into. Unpredictable moments like that are part of everyday life. are listening to the Dan Patrick show on Fox Sports Radio final hour on this Tuesday Dan and the Danets Dan Patrick Show. More of your Phone calls coming up. 877-3DP Show Good morning. If you're watching on Peacock, download the app. If you haven't done so, you can also watch on the NBC Sports Network I ran down the DraftKings odds after yesterday's soup, the free agency frenzy for the super bowl odds. The Rams are your favorite, followed by the Seahawks and the Ravens. They're tied. Then it's the Bills, Chiefs, Packers, Niners, Eagles, Chargers, Lions, and Fritz. He wanted to know, one of our callers wanted to know where the Broncos. Well, the Patriots are next, then the Texans. Then it's the Broncos, Jags and Bears. Then it's the Bengals. Bengals have better odds than the Cowboys and the Buccaneers and the Steelers and the Vikings and the Colts and the Commanders. Wow. So you start to look, I guess it's surprising now. I will be surprised if the Patriots make the playoffs this year. I just think there'll be a little bit of a dip. But they're probably 11th best odds. Then the Texans, they're actually tied with the Patriots. And then the Broncos as well. And as one of the callers said, hey, you know, we're a healthy ankle away from going to the super bowl. And you're probably right. The Jags, Jags at plus 2500. The Bears plus 2500. Then you got the Bengals plus 3000 account. Cowboys plus 3500. But the Buccaneers and the Steelers, Steelers at plus 5000. Vikings plus 6000. That'll improve once they get Kyler Murray, in my opinion, the Steelers, I'm assuming Aaron Rodgers will be back. I don't know if there's any possibility he could go elsewhere or the Steelers would entertain Kyler Murray, but Albert Brea, the Monday morning quarterback, joined us last hour and he said Kyler wants to go to the Vikings. It's just a question of do the Vikings want him. All right, poll question for the final hour of the program. Seaton is going to be what?
Seaton
We got many. We got a million of them up there right now. Maybe some of our most eclectic, slash diverse poll questions. Okay, one from Paul, who had the best day yesterday? Right now, Malik Willis has about 49% of that vote, followed by Fernando Mendoza.
Paul
Yes, Paul did beyond financially. He was going to get paid anywhere. Did Malik Willis's career get better? Noticeably better?
Dan Patrick
Well, he has a chance to be a starting quarterback on a team that
Paul
had a fire sale and has very few weapons left in the cupboard.
Dan Patrick
I don't know.
Seaton
It feels.
Dan Patrick
Are you saying he should have stayed in Green Bay as a backup quarterback instead of going to Miami?
Paul
No, I, I would say. Was there a better football option out there because the money would have probably been equal.
Dan Patrick
I don't think there is unless he was going to Go to Arizona because it feels like the Vikings are going to go with Kyler Murray. Do you want to go to Arizona or do you want to go to Miami? I. Yes.
Seaton
I mean, yeah, if you look at the teams that were maybe interested in them. Right. At the Dolphins, Cardinals, Browns, jets,
Dan Patrick
maybe
Seaton
with the Steelers, I suppose could have been maybe the Vikings, but maybe, maybe they weren't. Maybe that money wasn't right. You know, this might have been. We might think that there were more people interested in them than. Than there really were.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. And the money, I mean it's not a lot to get a guy who's going to be a starting quarterback. Three years and it's 67 and a half million dollars total. That's pretty good. Pretty good.
Seaton
Especially since he just spent 350 million for one year at Tua. It's a unbelievable bargain.
Dan Patrick
Not. Not exactly that, but close. My numbers might be off a little, but you know. Yes.
Paul
Paul next year to will make $56.5 million. 55. I double checked this. He's going to make 56.5 Tua next year. 55 from Miami, 1.5 from Atlanta. Malik Willis will make 23 million next year Fernando Mendoza will make 33.5 million. That combines for 56 million.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. So it was a wild day yesterday from start to finish and still, you know, Trey Hendrickson could end up with the Cowboys. Kyler Murray, he's going to be released tomorrow and I think he'll end up with the Vikings. The Malik Willis to the Dolphins. I wasn't surprised that he went there. I was kind of surprised at the philosophy of the Dolphins. Why not just let Quinn yours play and then you'll be in the market for a franchise quarterback next year. Probably what Arizona is thinking. They brought in Gardner Minshew there so feels like they'll have a room full of backup quarterbacks that somebody has to start there. I like what the Raiders did. They spent some money but it. It's only the first day and you know, there'll be bits and pieces to fill in. But also what does this mean for certain teams with the draft? That's what interests me. Probably more so as we move into the second and third day of free agency. Right. So new poll questions. Seaton or did you just clean up the previous questions?
Seaton
That was one. We got a bunch more here. Here's one from the mind of Todd Fritz with their latest moves. And if Fernando Mendoza proves to be the real deal, the Raiders are silver question mark right now your options there are you betcha Or Easy there. Easy there right now is at 77% of that vote. Canceling Magic City night was smart or lame? Right now the lames have that at 54% of the audience. See, there was another one in here too, that I can't seem to find, which is a better movie. Wedding Crashers are old school. That is straight up. 50. 50 right now. And whose career would you want, Luke Wilson OR Owen Wilson? 80% Owen Wilson.
Paul
Yeah.
Seaton
Dang, Luke. You're gonna take that?
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Todd
Todd, has Luke been in anything of note very recently? I see him on some phone commercial walking in the desert with a dog. As far as comparing Owen and Luke's
Dan Patrick
career, I don't know what Luke's been in.
Todd
The recency bias alone, I would go Owen as well.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Owen is in a golf series, I think. Don't know what it's called, but I saw the promotional campaign around that. But I don't know what Luke's been involved in. Yeah, they've been the. Carved out some nice careers there. Heck, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Can you do an impersonation if it's only one word? Like you did your bread Favre.
Seaton
Every impersonation I have is.
Dan Patrick
Is essentially there's one. One word. Yeah. Course, course, course. Yeah. All right, we'll get to some phone calls here. Quiet day so far with free agency. Congratulations to Troy and Furman. They have punched their tickets to that big dance. Team USA dropped Mexico. And that was fun to watch it. It is. It's one of those where I go, I don't know if I want to watch. And then I watch and I go, why do I say I don't know if I want to watch it? I'm. I'm watching Korea against Australia and I'm going, all right. The environment is pretty good. Pretty good. And now Team usa, I think they have Italy coming up. Is that right? And you throw out the records when those two get together. You just never know if Italy known for their baseball.
Seaton
Italian baseball is no joke, okay?
Dan Patrick
Yes, Marvin, but here's the thing.
Marvin
The Italians, are they Italian Americans or are they, like, straight from Rome? Like, is it Mike Piazza, like, you know what? I have great grandfathers that came over from the old country.
Dan Patrick
I don't know. The roster, maybe. Maybe look at the roster and see how many players are from the United States.
Marvin
Yes, Marvin, I just got word from our expert, Mario, that it's a lot of Italian Americans.
Dan Patrick
Okay?
Marvin
So like the Rocco Baldelli's of the world Rocco Deli.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Yes.
Paul
Paul, I have the Italy baseball roster up on my screen at all times, but it's, it's probably 2/3 USA born. Quickly looking at it, there's actually players that are born in both Canada and Venezuela on the Italy roster, which is interesting. So I would say it's mostly USA born players.
Dan Patrick
Sunday night basketball and NBC and Peacock. Every Sunday night, you got Knicks and the Warriors. Sunday night on NBC and Peacock, we talked a little bit about sga, hitting the game winner last night. And he had a stat line that only one other player we believe in NBA history, at least when they started keeping these stats, LeBron James, where he went for 35, 15, and no turnovers. Also hitting the game winner, Tony in California leads us off final hour. Hey, Tony.
Caller
Hey, guys. Good morning. Oh, I'm so incredibly happy, man. The Clippers beat the Knicks to reach 500. Slid into the eighth spot. I'm a believer. We're so good now. Even when we lose to the spurs, we make Wemby cry. And he said, quote, it was the toughest game of my career. That's the most physical team in the league. I'm a believer. Dan, I know you're still a little incredulous.
Dan Patrick
I'm gonna have to wait. I'm gonna play the long game with the. The Clippers there. I'm just curious what happens to Kawhi Leonard after, you know, they do that investigation? I don't know what the commissioner is waiting on, but it feels like Pablo Torres still kind of trolling the commissioner of what are you waiting for here with Kawhi Leonard? And somehow does he end up a free agent? Let's see. How about Zach and Knoxville? Hi, Zach. What's on your mind today?
Caller
Thanks for taking my call. Pretty sure that all that Magic City gear is going to the same place that the 180 Patriots Super bowl gear is going. There was a story on ESPN years ago about how they send that out to Africa or, you know, certain places are. So there's going to be a bunch of kids walking around with some Magic City swag, and I was just wondering if, you know, you remember you had that conversation with Jonah Hill about if he was, you know, if he's not as funny, if he. Since he got skinnier, do you think it would have the reverse effect on Todd?
Dan Patrick
If Todd got skinnier, he might be funnier.
Marvin
Wow.
Todd
What is that about?
Paul
Wow.
Dan Patrick
I didn't expect that from Zach.
Todd
You don't get funnier when you get skinny. And that was totally unnecessary to draw any kind of connection between your Story.
Dan Patrick
God. Zach gets it.
Seaton
Zach gets it.
Todd
A little bit of a reach just to take a shot.
Dan Patrick
How about we try it to.
Todd
Well, that's something I should be working on humor or not. I should be working on dropping some LBs, but I find it hard to believe that as you get slimmer, you would become funnier. That just doesn't seem like that would happen. There's very few funny. Well, Jerry Seinfeld, but you want to see someone that's, like, kind of out of shape and sweaty and angry and sarcastic, so. Well, how come I'm not funny?
Seaton
Dave Chappelle's not chubby, and Adam, you know, Chris Rock's not chubby.
Todd
Yeah.
Seaton
People with, you know.
Dan Patrick
Are you calling Will Ferrell fan?
Todd
I think it's easier probably to laugh with and at somebody if they got good material and you're like, thank goodness I don't look like that, and they're saying something funny, they got a better chance of getting some chuckles.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Caller
All right.
Dan Patrick
Thank you, sir.
Paul
Yeah.
Todd
Thanks, Zach.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Yes. Paulie.
Paul
You could go the other way, Todd, and put on 20 and see if he get even more funny.
Marvin
Yeah.
Todd
How desperate might I get a laugh that I just go eat even more calories?
Dan Patrick
Yeah. That was a rough moment when I'm bringing that up to Jonah Hill because he had lost weight, and I. I was just curious, do people look at you differently? I wasn't saying you're not as funny. I was saying, do people look at you?
Seaton
He didn't appreciate that.
Dan Patrick
No, he did.
Seaton
He did not appreciate that was his last appearance on the show.
Dan Patrick
Yes. Yes. And I think Will Ferrell likes to remind me of that moment with Jonah.
Seaton
That was unfortunate.
Dan Patrick
Yes. Yes.
Paul
Paul, this might be irony, but if you remember the movie Funny People with Sandler, Jonah Hill's Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill's character says something about Zach, about Rogan's character. You're not as funny now that you're in shape or something like that. He actually says that in the movie because in the movie he gets in shape.
Dan Patrick
Maybe that's where I got it from.
Paul
I remember that line from the movie. I don't remember exactly the line, but
Dan Patrick
I remember Jonah Hill going, dan, are you really gonna ask me that? I went, yep, yes.
Seaton
Not to sort of pile on, but it was right around the same era that you asked a college football coach if their weight impacted their ability to
Dan Patrick
recruit, and they didn't appreciate that either.
Paul
I remember the name and the.
Seaton
I do, too. I was just trying to leave that out.
Dan Patrick
But they also did not Appreciate that question. And that's why we don't win a sports Emmy right there. You know, I giveth and I taketh away. Anywho.
Todd
Yes, Todd, not everybody gets your sense of humor. That's what it all comes down to. Your wife says it. Everybody says it. They say, come on, you just gotta loosen up a little bit.
Dan Patrick
Do you think I'm too thin to be funny?
Todd
Me, personally, I've left a lot of things you've said over the years. I don't think, Wait, as I'm your
Dan Patrick
boss, I'm your boss.
Apple Pay Advertiser
Yeah.
Todd
But that being said, you know, we've given, taken shots at each other over the last 20 plus years, so that doesn't get in the way of that.
Dan Patrick
But if I gain £20, will it be hilarious? Thank you. Dan in Naples. Hi, Dan. What's on your mind today?
Caller
Quick question for Marv. Based on your buffalo take, do you think Dax fiance and her fans are happier with her second round exit, or do you think they would have been happier, you know, making it to the big show? I'll hang up and listen.
Dan Patrick
So Dak Prescott and his fiance have broken up. Would you rather just be dating or make it all the way to. You have a bachelor bachelorette party and then all of a sudden you decide you're not getting married. Marvin.
Marvin
Well, they didn't get married, so he probably. He won in this, in this scenario.
Dan Patrick
Right.
Marvin
So you'd rather date.
Dan Patrick
Did she win?
Marvin
I'm talking about that.
Dan Patrick
So I don't know what happened in this relationship.
Marvin
I don't either.
Dan Patrick
They both, they both had their bachelor bachelorette parties, and then all of a sudden they announced that they weren't getting married. Yes, Todd, yes.
Todd
Can of worms. But we're kind of what we're hinting at and dancing around the elephant in the room. Would you sign a prenup or expect your future spouse to sign a prenup? Is kind of what we're saying.
Dan Patrick
TMZ debunked that story.
Paul
Yeah, full debunking.
Dan Patrick
Debunking. Harvey Levin debunked. Debunked that.
Todd
Still a fun question to ask.
Dan Patrick
Okay. If your wife made a whole lot of money, would you sign a prenup? Todd?
Todd
I would be. I'd be offended at first. I'm like, really? We're already planning on getting divorced and you're like, you're worried about me taking half, but if I really loved her, and I would probably go, she's got
Dan Patrick
a billion dollars, but you have to sign a prenup and she's like smoking
Todd
hot and everything and all that kind of thing. And I'm just really head over heels. There's no other on the planet.
Dan Patrick
I don't know what she looks like. I like that.
Seaton
Right now you're. You're debating whether you should sign a prenup. If this smoking hot billionaire wanted.
Todd
I don't know what I'm going to get in the future. This may be my only chance for me. But I would. I would sign it, I guess. Yeah, it's on it.
Paul
Yes, Paul, I think I would sign it if I married someone who had a gigantic career financial before we met. And in a prenup, you still get something you. It's not. You walk out with a zero.
Dan Patrick
Well, a lot of times you get paid with each year of marriage. So let's say you get a million dollars with each year of marriage. Then you get to 25 years and you get a 10 million dollar bonus. Seaton prenup. You sign. Would I?
Seaton
Of course.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I would too.
Seaton
It's really not a big deal to me.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, it's her money. She made it. I'm fine, you know, but I'll. Now, would you ask somebody to sign a pre. Let's say you're worth a billion. Todd, would you ask your fiance to sign a prenup?
Todd
I would say, can you just sign something for me? And I wouldn't, you know, just like kind of block out to redact what's on there. No, I would. I probably would. I would ask for. If you wouldn't mind signing that.
Dan Patrick
But you're offended. But you'd. You'd be offended if your wife. And you're.
Todd
Yes, initially. Initially, I'd be like. I'd be offended. Would be my initial reaction. Like, you're worried about me. That's why I'm in this. Because I want half your money if this doesn't work out. And then I would calm down and say, yeah, where do I sign?
Dan Patrick
Yes, Marvin.
Marvin
If she helped me build the billion. No. But if I come in already as a billionaire. Yes.
Dan Patrick
Prenup. Mm.
Marvin
Yes, sir.
Dan Patrick
Let's take a break and we'll get some more phone calls.
Marvin
You got one
Dan Patrick
do. No, no. I didn't make any money when I met my wife.
Seaton
It'd be an awkward conversation to have now, though. Hey, I was just thinking, why don't
Dan Patrick
we get our paperwork in order? What do you think about a previous.
Seaton
That would be an awkward one. Now, at this point in the game,
Dan Patrick
what is that idea?
Paul
Are we releasing a car? What's this paperwork?
Seaton
This is a bad idea.
Marvin
Yeah, post nup.
Dan Patrick
You know, it'd be. It'd be a tough initial conversation, but no, I. I didn't make any money. She didn't make any money. She can have it all when I go. She can have it all right? I don't care.
Paul
Binding contract.

No, I mean we could make. Yeah, I guess we can. If Trugreen's doing all the work. No one makes it easier. They handle the treatments, the timing, everything.

Yeah. Beautiful lawns. And you know it's true Green America's number one lawn care company. And chances are they're already in your neighborhood.

Nobody really prepares you for this part of life. When I had some guests stay with me recently, I realized I was missing a few key essentials. I hate when that happens. Really? No more paper towels. Down to the last pigs in a blanket. So soon? I didn't want to interrupt our time together by running to the store or give off the impression that I was unprepared for my guests. Moments like that are a perfect example of how everyday life can surprise you. Some days go as planned and other days, well, life throws curveballs. It's not always convenient. That's why I went straight to Amazon. Amazon helps make it easier to manage both the routine and the unexpected. From household basics to last minute replacements you like to have on hand. To be a great host, Amazon makes it so you can find everything that you need all in one place with reliable value and great prices. So when you run out of essentials right when the party's about to start, Amazon makes it easier to focus on your guests. Talk about saving the day.

I hit the Wayback machine when I realized Mike Evans was going to go to San Francisco, and I was just curious how many starts he's had in his career. Hall of fame career, 175 and counting. And you go back to college, and Johnny Manziel was obviously great, fascinating. But it felt like the bailout was, I just throw it up there and Mike Evans is going to catch it. And I remember at some point we go, you know what? This guy Mike Evans is really good. Now Johnny got all the attention. And if you were going to guess how many career starts for Johnny Manziel versus Mike Evans in the NFL, Johnny had eight. And if you look at career earnings, Mike Evans, 155 million and counting. I think Johnny Manziel made about $13 million. But looking back on that college career, and it just felt like Johnny would run around and throw it up and Mike Evans would catch everything. And then all of a sudden we realized he's a first round draft pick as a wide receiver and now he's going to be a Hall of Famer. Yes.
Marvin
Marvin, can Mike Evans get like a hand or a leg of the Heisman Trophy? Because he was a big part of the reason why Johnny Mzo won.
Dan Patrick
I don't know where that Heisman is for Johnny, but yeah, sure, why not? If I win a sports Emmy, I would like to give out pieces of my sports Emmy to our audience. Just maybe melt it down or chop it up and just give out little pieces there. Just giving back, Marvin.
Marvin
Okay.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but that's just giving back. That's all that is. Giving back to the people. Yeah.
Marvin
Mark, how many pieces can you put this sports me into?
Dan Patrick
I don't know. I'm gonna try to find out. Just little, like a little nugget there.
Paul
Yes, Paul, you could probably grind it into fine dust and put it in like, little bottles and everyone gets one.
Dan Patrick
Okay, all right, Maybe I do that seal. Yeah. Maybe I just give back to the community that they're part of the. It's not going to happen, but it sounds really good that I'm offering that up.
Marvin
Yes, Mark, we have to just get there.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, yeah. Not just get there. We have to win it, right, Mark?
Marvin
Or we'll be disappointed.
Dan Patrick
I'll be disappointed if we don't get nominated. Steve Kerr, the Warriors head coach, dropped this little nugget on us last night where he was talking about the NBA schedule being too long.
Todd
I know this will not be a popular opinion in the league office, but I will continue to. To say it because it's obvious we need to play fewer games. We need to take 10 games off the schedule. I think it would be great for the league, and I get it. It's revenue and you'd have to get everybody to agree to take a little less money. And that's a really hard thing to do. But what I know about the league about coaching, about how hard it is to play the modern game with the pace and the space, I think it would be a more competitive and healthier league if we played fewer games.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, it's not popular. It's not going to be popular with the fans, with the players, with the owners, the TV executives, pretty much nobody. Because what you're getting paid now, you're going to say, what? Hey, will you take what, how much? 15, 20? Less you're going to do that. Some guys are getting, you know, you're going to get a million dollars a game, so you're going to say, hey, can we take off 10 games? We want to take away $10 million. These players are like, we don't have to play in these games. We still get paid. So don't blame us. Although we do blame you. But I don't think anybody's going to sign up to let's play 72 games. Therefore, you know, is the minimum of postseason awards going to be 55 games? Is Steve saying that he thinks players will play in more games? If I take away 10 games, they're still going to load management. Steve? Yeah, Paulie.
Paul
This is a really frustrating thing, and I bet a fan hearing it just gets crazy. Steve played her from 88 to 2003. He was one of the last generation of guys who generally played 80 to 82 games. Why, with the modern medicine and technology and hydration and food, can't guys play 75 plus? Why?
Dan Patrick
I would like for Steve to address that, just to say, hey, this is the reason why I don't think you get private planes. I think the NBA has tried to do a pretty good job with back to backs, trying to, you know, mitigate uncomfortable, awkward travel moments, but everything's at your fingertips, health wise. These are better condition athletes. I mean, we love to talk about how they're better athletes, but then those guys who smoke cigarettes and drank beer after games, those guys were able to play like, I'm not quite sure I understand what Steve is saying that 10 games is going to make that much of a difference. If 10 games means players will still continue to play the number of games they're playing, and we're down to 72. Okay. You know, baseball talked about this going back to 1:54. I think you could go back 154 and nobody would notice. It wouldn't be a big deal. But you got to tell me, why are you doing that? These TV contracts, salaries are based off of 82 games, 162 games. So, no, it's not a popular opinion by Steve. And look, he's not afraid to say it, but I can't imagine you're gonna go back to these owners and these players in the players association say, hey, by the way, we want to reduce salaries. Hey, but the good news is you don't have to play in 10 more games. Okay? If I'm a player, I'm like, well, I don't have to play in those games if I don't want to. Nobody's forcing me.
Marvin
Yes, Mark, if you think the perception of the NBA is bad now, imagine if they went down 10 games. Like, wait, you barely play 70 games that you want. 72 games.
Paul
Yeah, yeah, Paulie, I know it's hypothetical, but if you told the fans, we'll drop to 70 games and everybody plays all 70, they tried to play all 70, which is not possible. Everyone would sign up for that. If you know what you're getting, that's the problem. You don't know what you're getting night tonight.
Dan Patrick
Well, they can say, we're trying to play in as many games, but you have coaches who rest their players. So, I mean, everybody's complicit on this because I got to have my players ready for the playoffs. And I understand this. I go back to Greg Popovich. It wasn't popular, but it certainly was effective. I'm like, hey, we don't have to have the best record. I want Tim Duncan and Manu and Tony Parker rested for the postseason. And I get it. His. His job is to win championships, and he did that. Now it's just a different athlete now because you can say, well, Michael Jordan wouldn't do it. I don't know how a modern day Michael Jordan would be. I, I assume he would as competitive. He would want to play or Isaiah or Magic or Larry. I don't know. But I do know that these players, if they're. They are better conditioned and treated better paid better off season, staying in shape. Like all of these things. That should factor into them playing more games than less games. Yes.
Marvin
Mark, do you think some of these guys will end up regretting not playing in all the games they could have played? Because like you said earlier, talking about the Kelsey's retiring when it's over, it's over Michael Jordan. I think he'd give up half of his fortune to be healthy and play one full season of NBA basketball again. So do you think those guys that are playing now in load managing will have regrets about not playing all the games they could have?
Dan Patrick
No. No. Because you can play more seasons, you're going to make more money now. Unless it's individual numbers where you want to get to a certain milestone. Other than that, you know, I don't, I don't think they're going to look back and regret like, man, I, I should have played that game in Cleveland. I sat that out.
Paul
Yeah, Paulie, I was just taking a look because Anthony Edwards of the Timberwolves, he has a reputation of playing. He's not a load management guy. He's young, he's healthy. But he's averaging 79 starts per season over the past five years. And that's cool, but that's an anomaly.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but I wonder how long that's going to take or, you know, that'll last. I mean, it's great you want to be able to go see the Timberwolves and you want to be able to go see him and of course, Rudy Gobert. But
Marvin
I didn't mean to laugh like that. I'm sorry,
Dan Patrick
that's. That's for you. Yes.
Paul
Paul, six years ago last night was Rudy Gobert licking the microphones in his hands the day before the NBA season. Closed up shop.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Cameron in Indiana. Hey, Cameron.
Caller
Hey, guys, how's it going? So I just got a couple of things for you. So first off, if I went 73 and 9, I'm going to advocate for shorting season two. If no one can beat my record, then I'll live in NBA history for that. Secondly, if I'm the player, I'm putting up all the points and stats that I can. I'd rather be remembered by to be close to a hall of Famer than somebody who just load manages.
Dan Patrick
You know, once again, I'm old school and I would want to play as much. But you know, you got to factor in today's athlete and their approach to this. And if you could play less games, more seasons, more money, they're going to look at this as a business person and I can't, I can't begrudge them for that. If you would have said, hey, Larry Bird's going to play less, but he's going to play three more seasons, I would sign up for that. Or Steve Nash. Some of these players who, their careers were cut short but they would try to play in at least 75 to 80 games. Yes, Marvin.
Marvin
But I think with Larry Bird, I'm not sure if the amount of games that he played. It's how he played. You see all these montages of him running into the crowd and diving and hurting his back while doing that. So if he had played differently, I think it's different than the amount of games.
Dan Patrick
Maybe, maybe. But that, you know, when people look at his career and they're like, I thought he played longer. You know, same thing with Steve Nash. These guys were on the sideline. You know, Nash would be getting stretched on the sidelines when he'd come out of a game.
Marvin
Yeah, Mark, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird played 11 in 12 years. It felt like their impact on the NBA felt like they played for 20 years, but they only played 11 and 12 years.
Dan Patrick
Really mad in Ohio. Hi, Matt. What's on your mind today?
Caller
Hello, guys. How are we doing?
Dan Patrick
Great, Matt.
Caller
Good. A couple things for you. I believe when you guys win that sports emmy, you should mount it on the hood of your vehicle and just make it obnoxious and make sure everybody knows. And secondly, I. I am willing to go to New York when that time comes and not only hold a sign, but go straight John Cusack. Boom, boom, box over my head, and hopefully it's raining that day.
Dan Patrick
All right. Well, thank you, Matt. We appreciate the loyalty. Yeah. I can't invite the audience to join us in New York for the night of the sports Emmys if we get nominated, to then go out and celebrate with us. But I would like to. Yes.
Seaton
If there happened to be a spontaneous gathering, like a meetup of our fans there that we in no way, you know, organized, but it just naturally happened.
Dan Patrick
I am. Okay. Could we take all. If we win the sports Emmy, can we take off the next day? Oh, no, no.
Seaton
We got to take a victory lap. What are you talking about?
Dan Patrick
I. I just. Because we'd be out late. I just want to make sure I understand what your guys, you know, motives would be. Mine is I'm showing up. Every day's the Super Bowl. You guys are going to show up as well.
Paul
Oh, yeah.
Dan Patrick
Oh, okay.
Marvin
Without question.
Dan Patrick
Make sure. Who are you talking.
Marvin
Come on.
Dan Patrick
I'm talking to Todd.
Todd
It's not just a victory lapis. The worst thing you could do after winning the Emmy is to mail it in and then take the day off. Now, what would that be saying to the academy and the voters Academy?
Dan Patrick
I agree. I'd like to have a parade. I'd like to have A parade.
Seaton
Thank the hospital press.
Dan Patrick
Yes, Paul.
Paul
First we get nominated. But if we win, we come in wearing the same things we wore the night before.
Dan Patrick
That could be nothing.
Paul
Wire to wire.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, could be. You know, wild night there on the bus coming back, just, you know, the last time we went in and I said to everybody, look, I'll supply beers here. Just know that there's no bathroom here. Well, Tyler's drinking like a sailor. Next thing I know, we're about 45 minutes outside of New York City. And he is just, you know, like when your kids are trying to cross their legs and they're dancing and holding themselves. And Tyler goes, I, I, I really gotta go. I said, well, we're on the, like the parkway here. Like I said, there's no rest stops here. I know, I, but I, I really gotta go. So we get the bus driver to pull over, and then Tyler runs under a bridge. Like, it felt like a quarter of a mile away. And then he came back. He was, oh, thank you. Thanks. So thank, thanks. Thanks so much. I said, tyler, you can't have four beers on the way down here and then not have to go. And he goes, I didn't know there'd be traffic. I said, it's New York. It's New York during rush hour. Oh, my God. Yeah, so maybe no alcohol going down.
Marvin
Relax.
Dan Patrick
Maybe, maybe we're just alone with our thoughts. We get ready, you know, it's like Hoosiers, you know, when they were getting ready to play for the championship. Very quiet, maybe a prayer, maybe a few prayers. We'll take all that we can get. We got to get nominated first. When, when are the nominees out?
Paul
Usually the first few days of April is announced.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I dread those days, man. Today? No, not today. All right, last call for phone calls. Well, we learn what's in store tomorrow. All of that when we return. Fergusonhome.com it's only natural you see, these golfers mistaken the true green lawns for an actual golf course. Have you noticed that?
Marvin
Come on.
Dan Patrick
No, no, I'm serious. Happens all the time. And you know, they're the official lawn care treatment provider, the PGA Tour, so they know what it takes to get golf course quality lawns.
Seaton
So you're saying we could host a tournament out back?
Dan Patrick
No, I mean, we could make. Yeah, I guess we can. If Trugreen's doing all the work. No one makes it easier. They handle the treatments, the timing, everything.
Paul
I feel like you see them everywhere.
Dan Patrick

So soon. I didn't want to interrupt our time together by running to the store or give off the impression that I was unprepared for my guests. Moments like that are a perfect example of how everyday life can surprise you. Some days go as planned and other days, well, life throws curve balls. It's not Always convenient. That's why I went straight to Amazon. Amazon helps make it easier to manage both the routine and the unexpected. From household basics to last minute replacements, you like to have on hand. Dan Patrick
Last call for phone calls. What we learn what's in store tomorrow. And I got some information here. Steve Kerr, warriors head coach, said, you know what, everybody could benefit if we played 10 less. 10 fewer regular season games. The NBA, if you go back to the 20112012 lockout, the regular season was 66 games. And most people felt that the players felt better, the basketball was better, better rested and feedback from the fans was positive as well. If you start to look at the number of games that these players play now, I'll go Back to the 20. Let's see. 2009, Celtics, they played in 106 games winning the title. The Mavericks in 2010, 103. Then it was the heated 88, the heat at 105. These are teams that won the title. San Antonio in 14, 105. Golden State, 103. Golden State in 2016, 106. Cleveland, 100. So you go down the list, you're playing in right around 100 games if you win the championship. So that's total regular season and postseason. You could take away 10 games and I wouldn't miss those 10 games. The problem is the players are going to want that money. The owners are going to want something for the money that they're spending, the salaries. And then the networks are going to want these players to play. I don't know how you convince everybody, hey, for the good of the game, you take less money, you can pay less money. I mean, the owners might say, look, I got, you know, you're taking away four or five home games here. You know, the executives, they're, they're spending a billions of dollars this 11 year contract. Billions of dollars. I don't know. And how do you say that to the NBA Players association as well? So take away 10 games, I'm fine with it. You can take away 10 for major league Baseball, I'm fine, I'm okay with all of that. But there are a lot of people who wouldn't be.
Paul
Yeah, Paulie, I wonder if someone could look at this and say if the NBA went to 70 games. But in those 70 games, everybody's playing and they get rid of the stigma of load management, that they'll end up making more money because fans will tune back in for the next generation. Long term play.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. These players today don't care. They're not going to care about the long term play. They. It's about them. They're. They're on teams, but they're individuals here, and I think they look at it that way. How about this day in sports history? Paul? Yeah.
Paul
This day in soft sports history, Dan? 1941, the Brooklyn Dodgers, they announced their players would start wearing batting helmets during the 1941 season.
Dan Patrick
You call them soft.
Paul
Soft. That's how it starts. Next thing you know, we have load management.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Next thing you want face masks on your goalies.
Seaton
You know, pitch count started right there.
Dan Patrick
Here's one. 1976 Texas Tech Sports information director Ralph Carpenter. He became famous for the first use of this phrase, the opera ain't over until the fat lady sings. Wow. That was 1976 Texas Tech Ralph Carpenter. The opera ain't over until the fat lady sings. Now we shorten it to it ain't over until the fat lady sings. We took the opera out of the equation there. Yes, Todd.
Todd
And what can we say now? Weightley challenge. How does that work now? You shouldn't even refer to that phrase, I guess, at all.
Dan Patrick
Big boned. The. The opera ain't over until the big boned lady sings. That seems safer than Husky Garrett in Wisconsin or. No, it's Daryl in Wisconsin. Hi, Daryl.
Caller
Hey, Dan. Did you know that Owen Wilson appeared opposite Prime? Reese Witherspoon and Legally Blonde?
Dan Patrick
Luke did.
Caller
That was. That was.
Dan Patrick
That was. Yeah, you're right.
Marvin
That was Luke.
Dan Patrick
Luke did. I'm glad I could help.
Paul
You sit on hold for an hour.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, he's going to tell me. Prime. Reese Withersman. That was Luke. Yeah. Trip in Vegas. Welcome back.
Caller
Good morning, Dan. Always good to talk with y'.
Dan Patrick
All.
Caller
With the race, I was thinking with the race this weekend in Las Vegas, I wanted to get back to a gift that keeps on giving. They also have a yearly race at Crappensburg State. It would be the. It's the Ducalax Twin 200s. And the main reason for the pit stops is excessive exhaust and rear end noise. And when leaving the pit, you try to avoid skid marks or coming out sideways. And once again, the race finished with a complete wipeout.
Dan Patrick
All right. Brought to you by. Dude. Thank you, Tripp. Thank you. I appreciate that. Final results of the poll Question. Seaton.
Seaton
Oh, brother. What a day for poll questions. Who had the best day yesterday? Malik Willis. Which is the better movie, Wedding Crashers or Old School? Old School is leading right now. Whose career would you want, Luke or Owen Wilson? Owen Wilson is crushing Luke. Absolutely dominating him like brother should. The Raiders, are they silver and back? No. No, they're not. And canceling Magic City night, was it smart or lame? It was lame according to our audience.
Dan Patrick
Todd, what'd you learn today?
Todd
Ryan in Detroit goes sock, shoe, socks, shoe and getting dressed. And that's very disturbing to me.
Dan Patrick
Seaton.
Seaton
Yes. Sock, shoe, socks, shoe, Psychopath.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, that is weird.
Marvin
Marvin, you're ready to give up on paradise?
Dan Patrick
