The one extremely fluid and common factor when it comes to war is fear. This Veterans Day, the Good Stuff podcast honors those who've served and the stories that remind us what strength really looks like. Had over 50 operations and had 23 blood transfusions. We're talking about resilience, purpose and finding hope through community and connection. There are blessings that will happen in the most unexpected places. Listen to the Good Stuff podcast on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Whenever I got through the window I tried to pick him up and his body was stiff. I'm Ben Westoff and this is the Peacemaker, a true crime podcast about a string of mysterious suicides at a Missouri university and the fraternity brother tied to them all, Brandon Grosse. The lawsuit says Grosseim was one of the last people to see each victim before their deaths. Was he profoundly unlucky or was something much darker at play? To the Peacemaker podcast on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. You are listening to the Dan Patrick show on Fox Sports Radio. It's the final hour on this Tuesday. Reggie Miller will stop by. We'll assess the situation in Memphis with John Morant and it feels like it's not a question of if but when he is sent packing and what do you get in return for someone like John Morant? Also Reggie came out with his Mount Rushmore of dunkers. I got a problem with Reg because three of the four. Okay. But I can't put Zach Levine on there and not Dr. J. I'm gonna give Reggie a do over. He'll join us in about 20 minutes from now. 877-3-DP show email address dpdanpatrick.com Twitter handle @DP show say good morning. Good morning. If you're watching on Peacock, thank you for downloading the app stat of the day brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of the program. Good morning to our radio affiliates. Thank you for allowing us into your daily life. We got the whole gang here. Fritzy Seaton, Marv Polyers. Truly and the back room guys. NFL trade deadline still kind of quiet. The Bengals sent linebacker Logan Wilson to the Cowboys. That'll fix everything. The Cardinals handled the Cowboys 2717 and and both teams have three wins on the year. If you're Dallas and you're going to make a move and you're not going to get somebody younger like I don't know how old Logan Wilson is. I know that he wanted out of Cincinnati, that I want to make a deal because you're not going to make a deal where you're the Philadelphia Eagles and you go hey we got these guys now and you know the they're going to help us maybe win another Super Bowl. The Cowboys aren't winning anything. So that's where if you make a move, make a move where you pick up somebody who's going to be there for a few years. I don't want a rental. And Jerry Jones last night teased that they had or they were going to make a trade. I don't know if they tried to get an edge rusher here, maybe another defensive back maybe. But you're the Cowboys. You got three wins. You're kind of non threatening right now. It's the other teams who were picking up players. Can I get somebody who's a little bit younger and that would be what I want to know the Cowboys are doing. If they get somebody and you know Trey Hendrickson is 30 years of age and has a one year deal and then you're going to get back into the edge rusher. How much are we going to pay Trey Hendrickson if he's going to stay with Dallas? So that's sort of what I'm looking for. Who's buying who's selling? And if the Dolphins are, you know, Bradley Chubb. We just talked to Jay Glazer. He thinks Bradley Chubb, he's on the block. The question is, what are you going to get? And that's really what this is about. Now the next five hours is about, okay, you want him. How badly do you want him? Okay, you want to get rid of him? How badly do you want to get rid of him? Now it became. Becomes a little bit more of a chess game. I spent a lot of time talking about Kyler Murray in the first hour. You can go to Dan Patrick dot com. Even though Kyler Murray did even play, Jacoby Brissette played. But Jacobe Brissette is a better quarterback for this team than Kyler Murray. And you saw that last night because Marvin Harrison should be a Pro bowl wide receiver. He had seven catches. That's a career high for him. 96 yards, had a touchdown, and Jacoby Brissette had a couple of touchdown passes. He ran for another score. Now, I want to bring back something that Mark Schlerith said and Stink is a former offensive lineman with the Broncos, and he shares a story from Byron Leftwich about Tom Brady operating the offense and juxtaposing that with quarterbacks who scramble like Kyler Murray. So this is October 1st, and here is Mark Schlerith. I was talking to Byron left, which, when Tom Brady was playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and I said, what has been the most amazing thing about Tom?
A
And he said, hey, listen, if I.
B
Call curl flat, which is the first day, like, first day operation curl flat, everybody in the league runs pro flat. And your first read is the flat, like, it's just a, you know, a back or tight end that's in the flat, right? Whatever it is.
A
And.
B
And that flat is open.
A
And that's the first reading, the progression.
B
Tom will take it 100 out of 100 times, never get bored taking the profit, and he'll put us in second down and six minus. And then the entirety of the offense is open. We're on schedule. You hear people say that all the time on schedule. There are some quarterbacks that don't want to throw it. Let me see what I can get at. Hey, let me see if I can get something better. Let me see if I can get something better. You got to fall in love with boring. And that's why guys who scramble around. Most guys who scramble around don't win championships because you got to be. You can't. Like, ultimately, like, I look at Kyler Murray and do you want to win football games or you want to make SportsCenter highlights? Like, that was. That was what I would ask.
A
Like, because I want to.
B
I want to win football games. And the way you win is staying.
A
Out of third down and long.
B
And the way you stay at a third down long is you have success on first and second down.
A
And so if somebody's going to give.
B
Me a gift, somebody's going to give me a five yard quick out and I pass it by because I want something better or I want to make a highlight play.
A
What's selfish?
B
Football. So that's Mark Schlerith. And that really sums up what you get with these younger quarterbacks. Kyler Murray, Caleb Williams, where you're scrambling, trying to make a play. He's talking about the greatest quarterback of all time is going to take what is right there 100 out of 100 times. Kyler Murray doesn't do that. Kyler Murray is out of the pocket. And here's another thing, and I mentioned this with Chris Canty, he's on the Morning show on espn and he was talking about this this morning. He said when you play with a quarterback who stays sort of in his little bubble there, he's not going right or left. If you're a wide receiver and I run my route, I know where the ball is coming from. I know where it's coming from. I don't have to look to find my quarterback. And that's the difference with Kyler Murray and Jacoby Brissette. Now, I'm not saying Jacoby Brissette is a great quarterback, but I do think he understands the position and maybe Kyler Murray does not. Or relying on his athleticism instead of just taking what the. The defense gives you. Caleb has this issue. Cam Ward has this issue. You know, a lot of your young quarterbacks do, but if you knew the greatest quarterback in NFL history takes a five yard out because now it's second and five instead of second and ten. Take it. It's right there. Also, you help the lineman. The linemen know, okay, my quarterback's back there. I only have to block for two seconds and he's going to get the ball out. You saw Marvin Harrison. That's his best game. But it's because Jacoby Brissette is going to put him in a position where all he has to do is make his move, beat his man and then grab the ball instead of where's my quarterback? And it. And it's. So that's coming from an offensive lineman's perspective. And I Thought Mark Slear did a wonderful job summing that up. Alrighty. Poll question for the final hour of the program's gonna be what their Seaton o'. Connor. Yeah, I think that that's so interesting too. Just like back to your point real quick about if you're a wide receiver and you run seven yards and cut, you can look to one spot to know generally where the quarterback is going to be or for, you know, Lamar Jackson is back there. He might be 15 yards over this way or 15 yards over that way, and you really have no idea where he's going to be coming from. That's got to be incredibly difficult. That's something I would have never really thought of. Yeah. And that's why Chris Canty, former defensive lineman, he's saying, you know when you know where your quarterback's throwing from? Yeah. You know, so I make my move and I know that if I'm open, the ball is coming from the pocket, not to the right or to the left. Do I have to make an adjustment? Now, obviously there are times when you do that, but Brady didn't extend plays, Peyton Manning didn't extend plays. But they will take. If you give me five, I'm taking five. Why wouldn't I? On first down, that's a no brainer. But here is Byron Leftwich talking about, you know, what made Brady great. Just take that. It's right in front of you. It's a gift. Yeah. Paulie, there's different stats. You could find next gen stats and the players who spend the most time from snap to releasing the football. Some of the names are Kayla Williams, JJ McCarthy, Cameron Ward is up there. They're all in that top five group. Jalen Hurts is up there and it's interesting. He's having an not the best season of his career. A little more time in the pocket. Well, he's not a great passer, but I think he's such a great competitor that I think Jalen Hurts finds a way to win. I don't think he puts himself in positions to lose games. I think for the most part he might not beat you with his arm, but he will find a way to win. So I would take him out of the equation because we've seen what he's done in two Super Bowls. So I would take him out of that. So Seaton, what do we have for the final hour? Yeah, we got three poll questions up there right now. The starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals should be Jacoby Brissette has 82% of that vote over Kyler Murray. Whose career would you want going forward? 65%. Take John Morant over Kyler Murray. And then which team is in better shape, the Cardinals or the Cowboys? Do you Want to guess? Cardinals. 69%. 73% Cardinals. Okay.
A
All right.
B
A couple of phone calls here. Reggie will join us in about 10 minutes from now. Jason in Maryland. Hi, Jason. What's on your mind today?
A
Hey, Dan.
B
Guys.
A
I appreciate you taking my call, friend. You and Jay Glazer talk about taking care of each other and mental health and physical health. That was awesome. And I just wanted to thank you for what you all do every day, you know, to help us through when we get by. And I was going through something several weeks ago, and you all had a Friday show about the most infamous moments in show history, and man, that was classic just to run through all those. I spent the entire weekend watching the Mickey Rivers rehash with you and Sean Salisbury. I probably watched it 15 or 20 times, and that's better than any Prozac or any of those commercial ads that you can get, man. I appreciate it, guys. And if you can play that sometime like once a week or something that's going to benefit the mental health of America.
B
Thank you, Jason. Nothing wrong with leaning on somebody. And I was somebody who never did. And I leaned on Jay Glazer, and I'm thankful. But you know what? He is a guy that you can lean on. He's been through a lot and he talks about that mental health. And I something told me, call Jay Glazer. And I did. And you know, he helped change my life. So let's see. Michael in Fort Wayne. Hi, Mike. What's on your mind today?
A
Hey, Dan, thanks for taking my call. Shout out to Aaron in Fort Wayne as well. Last week you said something on your show that made me yell at my Peacock app for the first time.
B
Okay.
A
Before I disclose what that was, though, I would just like to ask you one preceding question. Okay. You have said that you went to see Britney Spears live when she was at her peak.
B
Yes.
A
Could you briefly explain what motivated you to do so?
B
Because I think a lot of people talk about they either listen to a show or they. Or they won't listen to a show or they won't listen to an artist or. I don't like that. I've never been that way. And I thought, you know what? Let me go see what this is all about. And I was in Los Angeles and I went, and I will say the beer lines were non existent. That was great. And I thought she Put on a great performance. So that's. That's why I went to see her.
A
Okay, so it sounds to me like you're saying that you went to see Brittany because she was culturally significant at the time. And for that exact same reason, I really think that you owe it to yourself to go into your basement at home, pour a tequila, light a cigar, and watch what is the cinematic masterpiece of this generation. The Lord of the Rings.
B
Well, you're probably right, Michael. I should. The problem is I don't have an attention span. It's really, really, really limited. And I don't know if I would. Okay. I never watch a show all the way through. If I'm streaming, like, only Murders in the Building, like, I'll get like 13 minutes in, and then I'll turn it off, just trying to focus, and I don't do a great job that I would want to give it what it really needs, and that would be the time to do it. But, yes, I should watch Lord of the Rings. I should. My son says, dad, you'd like it. Okay. And I might get around to that. You know, when I retire, that's. That's what I'm going to do. Lord of the Rings. Maybe I read Harry Potter and watch the movies as well. I'm going to be so busy. Hermione basically does everything. No spoilers. People get so upset. Like, Harry does great things. He saved everybody. Actually, if you actually seen the movies, you would know that he actually does quite a bit. Yes, Paul, the first Lord of the Rings movie is called the Fellowship of the Ring. Think it came out 20 years ago. It got almost universally great ratings from all the reviewers. Okay. Well reviewed. Okay. All right. They are fun. They're. They're great movies. They really are. But if. If you're not into that kind of thing, you're still going to hate it. I'm not into that. I mean that. Yeah, if you're not into it, you're really going to hate it. I'm not necessarily into it, but I can be. And those were great movies. They were so good. And what's the other show that had. It had the guy Snow, that he was the hero. Jon Snow. Jon Snow. Oh, Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones. Yeah. I never watched that either. The first season's great. I watched the first episode and then somebody got pushed out of a window, and then I go, what's going on? Yeah, that's like five minutes into the episode, and I. That's all. Yeah. Like a little kid gets thrown out of the window and I, I was done after five minutes. There was so much happening. It's actually like the perfect scene because there is so much happening that is grossly inappropriate in just that one scene that you're like, okay, this is the tone setter for the entire series and it does not fail to deliver on that. Let's take a break. I got problems with Reggie Miller his, his Mount Rushmore of Dunkers. I'm going to give him a redo on this and then we'll talk about the job Moran situation with Memphis. We're back after this. The Rich Russians Falling out of Windows podcast is Back Sad oligarch season two. Since we left you in 2023 after season one, many politically motivated Russian millionaires have continued to die in suspicious circumstances. We dig deeper into these odd deaths which include everything from mushroom poisoning and mysterious hat, heart attacks, the window clumsiness and suicide by decapitation. One thing we have found since we started back in 2022 is the information on the suspicious deaths has become much harder to find. Not just that, it seems as if state controlled media in Russia is being utilized to purposely confuse and contradict the reporting that gets put out. As you can probably imagine, season two gets very weird. Listen to Sad Oligarch on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
B
The one extremely fluid and common factor.
A
In emotion when it comes to war.
B
And battle is fear for both sides. Do you remember the fear of combat?
A
100% yeah.
B
This veterans Day, the Good Stuff podcast honors those who've served and the stories that remind us what strength really looks like. Had over 50 operations and had 23 blood transfusions. It is extremely difficult to navigate the VA system. I think what frustrates us the most is thinking about our veterans From World War II era, from Vietnam era that don't have an advocate on the phone every day, all day calling for them. These are things that need to be talked about. These are things that need to be discussed. We're talking about resilience, purpose and finding hope through community and connection. There are blessings in there as well that that will happen in the most unexpected places. You have to find the humor in it or I think it'll literally kill you. Listen to the Good Stuff podcast on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Eva Longoria. And I'm Maite Gomez Rejun. And on our podcast Hungry for History we mix two of our favorite things, food and history. Ancient Athenians used to scratch names onto oyster shells and they called these Ostrakon to vote politicians into exile. So our word ostracize is related to the word oyster. No way. Bring back the ostracon. And because we've got a very mi casa es su casa kind of vibe on our show, friends always stop by. Pretty much every entry into this side of the planet was through the El Golf of Mexico forever and ever. It blows me away how progressive Mexico was in this moment.
A
They had land reform, they had labor.
B
Rights, they had education rights. Mustard seeds were so valuable to the ancient Egyptians that they used to place them in their tombs for the afterlife. Listen to Hungry for History as part of the My Cultura podcast network, available on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. All right, before I get to Reggie Miller, he was on the Rushmore podcast and Reggie was asked the Mount Rushmore of dunkers. He said, Michael Jordan, Vince Carter, and Dominique Wilkins. And then came the fourth one. I said the fourth is very difficult.
A
It's very, very difficult. I will go with. I do like my Zach Levine.
B
That's the worst list I've ever seen. Okay, okay, nice. Bring in Reggie Miller. Reggie will be on the call. The Clippers and Oklahoma City coming up tonight.
A
Okay, I said it and I'm sticking with it.
B
No, you're not. You left out Dr. J.
A
I said it and I'm getting ready to change it right now.
B
You panic, Reg. You don't panic.
A
I didn't panic. I thought, first of all, we all had to have come to a consensus. So that was my list. Shaq had an entirely. He had power dunkers on his list. To omit arguably the founding father of the dunk is a slight omission from my end, but I was going by current events. Zach Levine, in my opinion, if you've seen some of our dunk contests over the last 10 plus years, he's right up there. Yes, Dr. J should be in there. And arguably he was at the end of the day, because all four of us that had this roundtable discussion had to agree on the top four. And yes, people, Dr. J did make the Mount Rushmore of dunkers.
B
Because I want to know what you do in a game. There's a lot of guys who can dunk in a contest. I don't care.
A
Very true.
B
Because, you know, if that's the case, I'm taking Mac McClung.
A
That's probably as bad as take as Zach Levine on my end.
B
No, no, no. I'm going to take Mac McCl over Zach Levine. Greatest dunkers between those two.
A
Well, showmanship. Because if that's the case, you could put Aaron Gordon in there as well, because Aaron Gordon and Zach Levine, those two dunk contests between those two guys could have been the best ever.
B
I just want in game dunkers, Sean Kemp in game dunker, Dominique in game dunker, Mike. Vince Carter in game dunker. Dr. J in game dunker.
A
You can make a case for Zach Levine. We would have to go on. We would have to go on YouTube for a few hours and try to find some of those, but we could find a couple of them.
B
Wow. And then Shaq didn't like your take though, on your fourth dunker there.
A
But again, he was going with power dunkers, Kenyon Martin, I mean, himself, he put himself in there. This is what I'm up against, going against the big fella.
B
Okay, let me get to a serious topic here with John Morant, because this feels like this is. There's no turning back here. Feels like John Morant's checked out. Now if you're Memphis, what do you do? Where do you send him? Or do you see that maybe there's hope that he reconnects and re engages here? Or is that ship sailor?
A
I believe the ship has sailed. And I think the only way you're going to be able to turn course is if you get a new coach in there. Because if they keep the current administration. Jaw has checked out. I didn't like the comments or the body language after that Laker game. And listening to the comments last night after the loss at home against Detroit, it was almost even worse. Body language tells me everything. And just looking at it, he has checked out. And you know, I look at their roster, the oldest player on their roster is 32 year old Caldwell Pope, Champion when he was with Denver. And he, he's 32 and he's still fairly young. There is no one on that team to go to Jaw and say, dude, yeah, you got to get it together. And I think that's been a theme over the last five to 10 years. Looking at some of these rosters is not having veterans on them. I know this league is getting younger, but to me, John needs someone pull them aside, show them some clips. I mean, because this is a bad look. And if you're Memphis, I think you start fielding calls unless you're going to fire your coach and then that sets a bad precedent.
B
Right, but who wants John Morant?
A
There'll be a lot of teams that would want John Morant.
B
Would you?
A
What? What do you give up for them?
B
Okay, if I'm the Hawks, what if the Hawks said, we'll give you Trey Young for John Moran?
A
I would seriously think about it.
B
If I'm Memphis, I would do that in a second.
A
If I'm. If I'm the Hawks, I don't know if I, I do that. Trey Young is a Walking double, double.
B
Oh, I agree. I would. If I could get Trey Young right now for John Morant, I would absolutely do it.
A
If you're Memphis, yeah.
B
If I'm Atlanta, I probably wouldn't do it. But I'm trying to think of other teams where you're going to go, he'll fit in. Like, he doesn't fit in. You kind of have to fit in with him, it feels like. And he's an unbelievable talent. But are you going to send him to Detroit or Houston? I don't know. He would.
A
He would certainly have to change the way he plays, and I don't think he can. Theodore, I love John Morant, but again, looking at that Laker game and looking last night in that Detroit game, the effort's not there. The hustle's not there. The on the court showmanship that we're used to seeing from Jaw is not there. He has lost his love for the game. And once you do that, I don't know if you can ever get that back in that situation. Yeah, so what, a new lease on life, a new place, a new destination? That's. Is that going to clear things up, a new coaching regime? Is that going to switch it up again both ways? If he asked for a trade or they trade him, he wins. It sets a bad precedent. If you fire the coach, it makes it look like he's a coach killer. That sets a bad precedence. There's going to be no winners in this situation.
B
Talking to Reggie Miller, Reggie will be on the call with Terry Gannon and it'll be Oklahoma City visiting Kauai. And is Kawhi playing?
A
I have no idea. I saw him tweak that angle with a little over two minutes left in that fourth quarter. Look, the Clippers have always taken, as you know, a cautious approach. I don't. Even if he wouldn't have rolled that ankle, you know, they usually don't play him in back to backs, though he did come out this summer and said he wanted to play back to backs, and I think that's what they were gearing up for. But after seeing that now, again, he finished the game. But it was only two minutes left in that fourth quarter where they ended up losing by one last night to the Heat. I don't think he will play because they will take that caution approach because they need Kawhi come March, April, May. So I think they'll take the cautious approach and probably not play them from a selfish standpoint for NBC. Yes, I would love for him to play tonight. Going against the Defending champs who are undefeated. But I just don't think they'll take that approach.
B
Game time is 8pm Pacific on NBC. And Peacock, is Kawhi's career a disappointment? No.
A
Are you kidding me? Two rings, two finals mvp. Are you. That was a joke, right?
B
No, because he couldn't. He. I. When he played, he was great. But I think when I say Kawhi Leonard, people don't talk about two rings and two Finals MVPs. They talk about a guy who had load management almost the face of load management.
A
I will also say this. He believe is on the all time team with me, the top 75 team as well. How could that ever be considered a disappointment? Well, anytime you can win any chip, two finals MVPs. With two different teams. With two different teams.
B
But if I say his name Amazing. Correct that what comes up is that how much he plays or doesn't play. First Battle hall of Famer.
A
First Battle hall of Famer. And when healthy. When healthy and plain and engaged, which he has come playoff time. Man, that dude is a tough out. Yeah, I would take. I would take that career. Please give me that career.
B
No, you can still have a great career. But also wonder what could. Mike Trout is going to be a first ballot hall of Famer.
A
What if?
B
Right? Like show me Kobe and Shaq together. What if?
A
What if?
B
Great when they played. But what if. So you can have those questions.
A
But that what if, those what ifs that you're saying for Kobe and Shaq, they still had three rings together.
B
They should have had six.
A
They could have. I mean, you could have made the case the same thing for keeping the.
B
Bulls together for one more year.
A
Right?
B
For one more. Yeah.
A
What, what if.
B
I also want to ask you about your. Did you have a power forward, your four power forwards for the Mount Rushmore. Did you have that? Is there?
A
We. We did.
B
Okay, Marvin, you want to set this up? Is this the fourth power forward? Yes. Marvin. Yes. So Reggie and Shaq were on the Rushmore podcast.
A
And so Reggie's four.
B
Reggie's first three, excuse me, was Tim Duncan, Karl Malone and Kevin Garnett. And he says his fourth. His fourth isn't shocking, but who he.
A
Says could have been one was a.
B
Little surprising to me. All right, play it. I'm gonna go with Sir Charles. I easily could have put Dennis Rodman in that list. I easily could have done that. Okay. On my Mount Rushmore. Okay. All right. Do you want. Yeah, it's not bad. I would have put Kevin here. Kevin, here's.
A
Here's the argument. Here's the argument that was going on in the room, because obviously Giannis probably can and should be. He could be on my list. Absolutely. I've told people before, I told the basketball gods this. I've said this publicly. If I come back, if the basketball gods could bless me with Giannis's talent in my jump shot, I would be the greatest player to have ever played the game of basketball easily. Just give me Giannis and my jump shot and then leave me alone. No one would ever be able to touch me. So, yes, he could have been on my Mount Rushmore, but the argument was going with. Because Ari Emanuel, it's his podcast. He was going with Chips. That's why Dennis Rodman entered the conversation. And people are like, dennis Robin is probably only the greatest rebounder. How could he. We're looking at total effects on games. He changed series. So we started putting numbers up. Like, what did Charles average against him? What did Carl at? Those numbers dropped because we were looking at the defensive side, too. So that's why Dennis Rodman. I could say I could easily slot them in there. But yes, Giannis could be. Giannis was on a lot of other people's top four and arguably should be. Again, give me his talent in my jump shot and don't say anything else to me.
B
I think Kevin McHale would be higher than Dennis Rodman.
A
His name was highly discussed. We agree with that. I agree with you on that.
B
Okay, I want to run this up the ladder at Peacock and NBC. The next round of interviews with Michael Jordan. I would like for you to do the interview.
A
Okay. Funny you say that. Not that it's like, I would love to do it. And this is the premise. We just both walk in a room and sit down. Cameras rolling.
B
No. No exchange. No. No friendly exchange.
A
None of that.
B
None of that.
A
Walk in, sit down, look at each other, and just go. Whatever comes out comes out.
B
I love it.
A
Look, I want to do it. I'm low man on the totem pole over there at NBC. Right now, we're rolling out these features with the great Mike Tirico, who's done a fabulous job interviewing mj. But, yes, I would love to have a. Have an open dialogue, Theodore, with mj, because there are certain things I would love to like, you know, talk about. Revisit, revisit.
B
Okay. I'd like to like.
A
I don't. People act like, I don't like mj. I love mj. But when you go against a brother for as many years as I did, you. You built Up a certain disdain. Can you say that? Can I say that?
B
Yeah.
A
You built up a certain tolerance, and there was always mutual respect. I'm trying to. I'm carefully trying to script my words here.
B
You don't want it to get back to Mike. And he said. What did he say? Good.
A
Look, it's always going to get back to Mike. Mike hears and sees everything. He'll always get back to him. But I just want him to know how much I do respect him. But let's just walk in a room together and just talk.
B
Phil Jackson was rolling. Phil Jackson has a book that's coming out, and it talks about the exchange that you and Mike had where you were talking trash to him. And then I think Phil says, Mike scores, like, five or six baskets in a row and saying, don't you ever. Don't you ever talk bleep about me or to me again. Is that true?
A
Unfortunately.
B
People. But you were willing to stand up to Mike, and not many guys did.
A
Mouth. I had an unfiltered mouth. And maybe it was my upbringing in a military family, being a military brat and getting my butt beat by my older sister and older brothers all the time. I had diarrhea of the mouth. And you. I just could not stop. And I didn't care who you were or what your accomplishments were. I felt I was always the best player. Knowing I wasn't, knowing I wasn't. But you got to have that belief. And he looked. He put the fear in a lot of people. And trust me, there was times when I was like this, dude. But I. I didn't love him, respect him, but damn, I. I also hated him, too. I did.
B
If he would have asked you to join the Bulls.
A
Would you stop it? Stop it, please. Stop that.
B
Like, later in your career. No, no.
A
There's just no way.
B
Okay?
A
There is absolutely no way. And I know people are gonna be like, well, yeah, that's why you don't have any rings, probably. So it's true. Yeah, I'm not gonna. I'm not gonna.
B
I'm not.
A
I can't do that. That goes against. That goes against everything I was taught from Magic and Michael Cooper, and that goes against everything. If you can't beat him, you just go in the corner and sit down. Just go away. Then if you get. Hey, that's it.
B
What if Magic called you and said. If Magic said, hey, would you like to join? Now that's different. I'm playing for the Lakers. That's a little different.
A
Okay, The Lakers twice a year.
B
All right? I'm running this up the flagpole at NBC. The next time that Tarico is going to sit down, Mike comes in and then Tirico goes, hey, I gotta go. Reggie's gonna do the interview.
A
Oh, my God, the fireworks. Some of the things that would be said, people understand, like Mike and I and our good friend Jack Haley, God rest his soul, who's looking down on us, smiling, we hope. Like we used to be locked in a room playing tonk, talking shit and just talking basketball. And there were some things that were said in the, in these, it was, trust me, just have him walk in. Have me walk in and just sit down so I'll look at them.
B
Do you need to bring the Davis brothers with you if you want.
A
Well, he's gonna bring oak with him.
B
If he brings oak, he's bringing.
A
Oh, I'm bringing Dale. All right. We'll let the. The muscle handle each other out and then he and I can handle our business.
B
Reggie will be on the call with Terry Gannon tonight. The Clippers maybe with Kawhi against OKC 8pm Pacific on NBC. And Peacock. Thank you, Reg. Talk to you later.
A
You are truly the best. Love you, Dan.
B

The Rich Russians Falling out of Windows podcast is back. Sad Oligarch Season 2 Since we left you in 2023 after season one, many politically motivated Russian millionaires have continued to die in suspicious circumstances. We dig deeper into these odd deaths, which include everything from mushroom poisoning and mysterious heart attacks, the window clumsiness and suicide by decapitation.
A
100% yeah.
B
This veterans Day. The Good Stuff podcast honors those who've served and the stories that remind us what strength really looks like. Had over 50 operations and had 23 blood transfusions. It is extremely difficult to navigate the VA system. I think what frustrates us the most is thinking about our veterans From World War II era, from Vietnam era that don't have an advocate on the phone every day all day calling for them. And I'm Maite Gomez Jejun and on our podcast Hungry for History we mix two of our favorite things, food and history. Ancient Athenians used to scratch names onto oyster shells and they called these ostracon to vote politicians into exile. So our word ostracize is related to the word oyster. No way. Bring back the ostracon. And because we've got a very mi casa es su casa kind of vibe on our show, friends always stop by. Pretty much every entry into this side of the planet was through the El Golfo de Mexico forever and ever. It blows me away how progressive Mexico was in this moment.
A
They had land reform, they had labor.
B
Rights, they had education rights. Mustard seeds were so valuable to the ancient Egyptians that they used to place them in their tombs for the afterlife. Listen to Hungry for History as part of the My Kultura Podcast network, available on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Last call for phone calls what we learn what's in store tomorrow the Raiders are trading wide receiver Jacoby Myers to the Jags for a fourth and sixth round pick. Per source is Albert Breer who's giving us that information. And Vegas doesn't have wide receiver. They definitely don't have wide receivers now and trading him to the Jags. So it's kind of quiet so far. Cowboys making a move defensively. They brought in Logan Wilson of the Bengals and he's a linebacker. He probably stops the run. Yes, Paulie, I totally thought that the the New England Patriots would bring back Jacoby Myers and trade bring him. He was a good player there for a few years. The law firm of Jacoby and Myers. Let me see Spencer in Seattle. Hi Spencer, how are you today?
A
Hey Dan, doing good. 510 a svelte 135. I got a nominate check as one of the all time great dunkers. I mean he was pulling down hoops and shattering glass.
B
Well, if we're going to do that then I'd put Daryl Dawkins in there because Daryl Dawkins did that before Shaq and Daryl Dawkins named his dunks and he wasn't in the dunk contest. He was naming his dunks while dunking in a game. Wit in Michigan. Hi Wit. What's on your mind?
A
Morning, Dan Whit from Michigan here. Thanks for taking my call.
B
Yep.
A
64183 this morning. Couple things here just to get out there. I want to congratulate Colin Cowherd for the recent induction of the Radio hall of Fame. And secondly, I have to ask, were you serious when you asked the Kawhi disappointment career question? I think of him and I think of locking down LeBron when he's with the Spurs. Best player in the World, probably at his peak powers. And then in addition to that, he took Toronto from an easy Tuesday afternoon to top of the mountain.
B
Yeah, but I'm not questioning his ability. I'm questioning his availability. That. That's. Nobody said that he couldn't play, wasn't a great defender, clutch guy, winning two titles. It's a compliment that I wanted more from him. Bill Walton's one of the top 75 players of all time. His career is a disappointment because he didn't get to show us how great he is.
A
Well, that makes sense. I understood.
B
Thank you. That's what I'm, as you are trying to say. Give our best to Colin. Yeah. Yeah. And my congratulations to Colin. I'm glad you called in to congratulations. I said it on the other show. I said it. I said his name on a different show. Well deserved, Colin. Well deserved going into the hall of Fame. Call Colin, though. Don't call me Mike and Washington. Pass the message. Yeah, I mean, I'll pass it on.
A
Yeah. Yeah, maybe you should call Colin. Anyways, I got a T shirt I did. And a poll question. My T shirt I did to keep the quarterback thing going. Like brisket reset. Just smoked you. That'd be great to hand the shade during the podcast. And my poll question would be, would you rather watch Prime Britney or Lord of the Rings?
B
That's another thing. Brittany was hot, so I was going to the concert. She's a beautiful girl. By hot, you mean popular? Yeah. Yes, hot. But like, like in cultural. Yeah, she. She was eight. That. You know, the hot list and she would be on it. She was a great artist there. And I didn't find anybody in the Lord of the Rings that hot. So what? Now you're gonna make people upset. Who is that? Elijah Wood? Was he in there? With his big eyes? Yes. Yeah. Seems like a nice guy, but he's probably about five, three, isn't he Checking why he's Lord of the Rings? Okay, this day in sports history, Paul in the middle of checking Elijah Wood height websites. Now I got a pivot. 1954, the Philadelphia A's moved to Kansas City, then moved to Oakland. Now they're in West Sacramento. Then they're going to Vegas. Ooh, this is tough. Wilt Chamberlain, 1960. He missed all 10 free throws in a game.
A
Wow.
B
Congratulations. 1994, the spurs season opener was delayed for 50 minutes when a fireworks display inside a stadium triggered a sprinkler system. What could go wrong? We saw that coming. And you would have all that smoke in there, too. So 2001. The Diamondbacks won their first World Series. Yeah, that was chilling. And unit were co MVPs back then. On this date 1980 Sadaharu oh retires as baseball's all time home run king. 868 home runs. Final results of the poll question Seaton yeah, we got three of them here today. Little sort of Kyler Murray heavy. No offense. Kyler didn't even play. Yeah, it didn't even play. The starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals should be Jacoby Brissette. 82% of the audience have that which team is in better shape. The Cardinals are in way better shape than the Cowboys. And whose career would you want going forward? John Moran has about 2/3 the vote over Kyler Murray. Todd would you learn today Jay Glazer says Max Crosby told me he does not want to go anywhere in the Raiders have no plans to trade him. Seaton what did you learn today? I learned Reggie has some controversial picks for his top fours. Marvin Glaser is your life coach. Paul let's get Reggie and Michael Jordan in a room together. A lot of fun today. Thanks for joining us for Fritzi, Seaton, Marv, Paulie, yours truly and the backroom guys. We'll talk to you tomorrow. Hey, I'm Kyle McLaughlin. Podcast: The Dan Patrick Show
Host: Dan Patrick
Guest: Reggie Miller
This lively hour centers on the NFL trade deadline's unfolding drama, with a particular focus on the Dallas Cowboys’ moves (or lack thereof) and the role of team owner Jerry Jones. The episode also features an in-depth basketball segment with NBA legend Reggie Miller, touching on his “Mount Rushmore of Dunkers,” the Memphis Grizzlies’ dicey Ja Morant situation, and the perennial debate about Kawhi Leonard’s legacy. Interspersed throughout are classic Dan Patrick Show hallmarks: listener calls, sports nostalgia, and irrepressible banter.
• Dan Patrick breaks down the muted trade action, highlighting the Cowboys’ acquisition of Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson and questioning Dallas’s larger plan.
• The host criticizes rental deals and calls out Jerry Jones for not targeting younger, long-term assets for the Cowboys, considering their current lackluster season.
“If you’re Dallas and you’re going to make a move...make a move where you pick up somebody who’s going to be there for a few years. I don’t want a rental.” — Dan Patrick [02:45]
• Discussion extends to the Miami Dolphins’ willingness to move edge rusher Bradley Chubb and the overall chess game of NFL dealing as the deadline looms.
• Dan references Jay Glazer’s insider views on trade motivations and how it’s a matter of "how badly do you want him — how badly do you want to get rid of him?"
• Dan recalls insight from Mark Schlereth (via Byron Leftwich) highlighting Tom Brady’s discipline taking short gains, contrasted with scramble-prone QBs like Kyler Murray (and rising college stars like Caleb Williams and Cam Ward).
“Tom will take it 100 out of 100 times, never get bored taking the profit...There are some quarterbacks that don’t want to throw it. Let me see if I can get something better...You gotta fall in love with boring.”
— Mark Schlereth quoted by Dan Patrick [07:01]
• The discussion identifies a key point: consistency and predictability help both linemen and receivers, and quarterbacks who always look for the big play (like Murray) hurt offensive rhythm.
“The way you win is staying out of third down and long...If somebody’s going to give me a five-yard quick out and I pass it by because I want something better or I want to make a highlight play...that’s selfish football.” — Mark Schlereth via Dan [08:06]
• Poll results overwhelmingly favor Jacoby Brissette as the better Cardinals QB over Kyler Murray, with listeners siding with the more disciplined style.
• A Maryland caller thanks Dan and Jay Glazer for their open discussion of mental health and shares how the show's lighthearted retrospectives helped him through tough times [12:46].
• Another listener challenges Dan on his pop culture choices, pushing him to watch “Lord of the Rings.” Dan admits his poor attention span but is nudged to put it on his retirement bucket list [15:29].
“The problem is I don’t have an attention span. It’s really, really, really limited...I never watch a show all the way through.” — Dan Patrick [15:29]
• Dan gives Reggie Miller grief for leaving Dr. J off his original "Mount Rushmore of Dunkers," which included Michael Jordan, Vince Carter, Dominique Wilkins, and Zach LaVine [23:45].
• Reggie concedes:
“To omit arguably the founding father of the dunk is a slight omission from my end...Yes, Dr. J should be in there.” — Reggie Miller [24:29]
• The debate then pivots to the value of “in-game” dunkers vs. dunk contest stars, with names like Sean Kemp, Aaron Gordon, and Mac McClung joining the discussion.
• Dan and Reggie assess whether there’s any saving the Grizzlies’ star, suggesting Morant’s body language and effort point to total disengagement [27:06].
“I believe the ship has sailed. And I think the only way you’re going to be able to turn course is if you get a new coach in there...Ja has checked out.” — Reggie Miller [27:06]
• Reggie points to a lack of veteran presence on the roster, making it impossible for anyone to pull Morant back on track.
• They consider trades (e.g., Ja Morant for Trae Young with the Hawks), but both sides recognize that Morant may not fit just anywhere and would need to substantially change his game and approach.
• Is Kawhi’s career a disappointment due to persistent injuries and "load management?" Dan questions the narrative while Reggie fiercely defends Kawhi’s achievements [32:00].
“Two rings, two Finals MVPs...when healthy and plain and engaged...that dude is a tough out.” — Reggie Miller [32:55]
• Dan draws a parallel to Bill Walton, another what-if story: great but left fans wanting more due to injuries.
• Reggie’s picks: Tim Duncan, Karl Malone, Kevin Garnett, and Charles Barkley, with Dennis Rodman and Giannis Antetokounmpo considered [34:24].
• The debate hinges on “chips” (championships) and total impact, with strong arguments raised for defense/rebounding (Rodman) versus offense/skills (Giannis, McHale).
“If the basketball gods could bless me with Giannis’s talent in my jump shot, I would be the greatest player to have ever played the game of basketball easily.” — Reggie Miller [35:12]
• Dan pitches the idea of Reggie interviewing MJ, imagining fireworks and honest revisitations of their fierce battles.
“We just both walk in a room and sit down. Cameras rolling. No exchange. No friendly exchange. Walk in, sit down, look at each other, and just go.”
— Reggie Miller [37:04]
• Reggie explains his unique relationship with Jordan—admiring and respecting him, but also “built up a certain disdain;” he could never have joined the Bulls, even for a ring.
“There’s just no way. And I know people are gonna be like, well, yeah, that’s why you don’t have any rings, probably. So it’s true.” — Reggie Miller [40:20]
On boring being beautiful in QB play:
“You gotta fall in love with boring. And that’s why guys who scramble around...don’t win championships.” — Mark Schlereth via Dan [07:10]
On cultural touchstones vs. sporting events:
“The beer lines were non-existent [at Britney Spears]. That was great. And I thought she put on a great performance.” — Dan Patrick [14:35]
On Ja Morant’s future:
“The effort’s not there. The hustle’s not there...He has lost his love for the game. And once you do that, I don’t know if you can ever get that back in that situation.” — Reggie Miller [29:39]
Reggie reflecting on facing Michael Jordan:
“I didn’t love him, respect him, but damn, I also hated him, too.” — Reggie Miller [40:07]
The episode blends analytical sports discussion with humor, nostalgia, and a sense of genuine rapport, particularly in the reunion with Reggie Miller. Dan’s style remains conversational, irreverent, and always ready for a pop-culture tangent, balanced by candid reflections on sports and life.
This episode offers a prime example of the Dan Patrick Show’s signature mix: rigorous but playful sports analysis, candid athlete interviews, engaging digressions (both silly and serious), and enthusiastic engagement with listeners—an inviting window into both the drama behind the games and the personalities that define them.
