Peter Schrager
It's the Dan Patrick show. Fox Sports Radio. LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox filling in for Dan and the guys. You can hear us weekday mornings before the dan Patrick Show, 6 to 9am Eastern Time, 3 to 6am Pacific Time. But we are filling in for Dan and the guys here on this Football Friday here on the show. And we are talking all things football as we get you set for the this Valentine's Day night. I don't know if people are turning it into a weekend other than Lee, our executive producer, who's got a whole bunch of fun plans in store for his better half. They've got all sorts of activities planned. They were going to go camping and then the rain kind of destroyed all that.
Matt Rogers
It really rained here.
Peter Schrager
So now you're going to like, you're going to see like Phantom of the Opera or something like that, Lee, or what?
LaVar Arrington
Yeah. Doing the LA Philharmonic tonight.
Matt Rogers
Are y'all going to get dressed up to go see it? Like suits and, and dresses and stuff?
LaVar Arrington
Not like a gown or suits or anything like that dress. Nice. Of course. Nice coat.
Matt Rogers
What's a nice coat? Like a nice coat as in like a North Face nice coat or like a nice coat as in like, like.
LaVar Arrington
Like that dress pea coat I wore in New Orleans.
Peter Schrager
Oh, it's nice. Yeah, I wear that.
Matt Rogers
All right. So you're going to see Phantom of the Opera, which is almost like I'm not seeing Phantom of the Opera Shut type deal.
Peter Schrager
Yeah.
Matt Rogers
And you're not going to get dressed up and she's not going to get dressed up.
LaVar Arrington
Seen Ravel and Brahms. Yeah.
Peter Schrager
Hide and seek with blindfolds on. Just.
Matt Rogers
Yeah, it is. Yeah.
LaVar Arrington
It'd be a fun night. We're going to go to a nice dinner, maybe go to a speakeasy after that.
Peter Schrager
Now, are you going to be a gentleman and get lubed up before the event?
LaVar Arrington
Of course. There's a, there's drinks in the garden. There's drinks in the garden outside the Walt Disney Concert hall before that. So. And I'll probably sneak one or two in before that.
Peter Schrager
There you go.
LaVar Arrington
Just keep it in the peacoat pocket, you know. Hey, baby, I will have a cocktail in the garden when she's not looking.
Bowen Yang
Just add on to the where are you staying tonight? Like, that's awesome.
LaVar Arrington
I don't know that yet. Okay, that's what I'm looking for, a spot out there.
Peter Schrager
A little late in the game.
LaVar Arrington
It is.
Bowen Yang
Are you just trying to book something last minute, hoping to get a deal?
LaVar Arrington
Yes, I Am. And it's. It's hard on Valentine's night to find it.
Bowen Yang
I was gonna say, is there a chance you're gonna, like, be renting a shanty?
LaVar Arrington
Yeah, you know, we might. We might camp out. Just. We might have neighbors on the streets is where we might be doing. I don't know what. I. I might float out. The idea of, you know, camping in.
Bowen Yang
LA somewhere, like in Venice, like, you'd be like one of those, like, the homeless encampments could be there.
Peter Schrager
That's normalized.
LaVar Arrington
Yeah, exactly. It's. It's not really frowned upon anymore, so.
Bowen Yang
Okay.
LaVar Arrington
Some urban camping.
Peter Schrager
Yeah. Like when people out here used to say, hey, I live on the water. Now you got a bunch of people on a Coleman tent going, us too. Yeah, right. Right over there if anybody wants to stop by and visit, so. Well, good luck. Lee, I'm going to call. My shot here tonight ends in a fight between. Oh, no, you'll have an argument. Don't speak that, because something about the flask and the pea coat is going to piss her off. I'm telling you right now, the flask and the peacoat is going to be the dividing line between you having a good time and you guys getting along.
LaVar Arrington
Once I start sawing logs inside the orchestra, that's when I'll get in trouble.
Matt Rogers
Yeah, I don't. I don't think so. I. I think when someone realizes the reality of what their situation represents, they find a way to adapt, adjust, and evolve. The best thing that could have happened is us sitting here and making her aware of the fact that there are other women that finally. Not only attractive, but, well, a win.
Peter Schrager
A hero, as they should, a champ, as they should.
Matt Rogers
Well, you got to now play by a different set of rules. When. When you're looking at Lee like, don't nobody want your ass. You got to deal with everything I send your way because don't nobody else want to deal with you. Well, once that changed, now the whole rules of engagement have to change.
Peter Schrager
Lee, I think you're.
Matt Rogers
You're welcome.
Peter Schrager
Lee, I think you're a catch, Lee.
LaVar Arrington
Thanks, guys.
Matt Rogers
You're. You're. Well, I don't think you're a catch, but I'm just saying, at least it's been established and it's been put out there that you are. And now she's got to handle things that way. Like, it's like the unknown now. It's like, if I don't go out with him tonight, somebody else will. If I don't get up and go to the gym and work out with him. Somebody else is going to. And I'm just saying, hey, competition, you ain't married. Competition is good. That's all I'm going tell you. Competition ain't bad. They say you can't have evil without having good and good without having evil. That's why evil is good. You got to have evil because you can't have evil without having good.
LaVar Arrington
Can't have good without the bad.
Matt Rogers
There you go.
Peter Schrager
Yeah, sometimes we'll get both tonight.
Matt Rogers
Vampire out of Brooklyn, by the way. Vampire in Brooklyn. Eddie Murphy reference. There you go. Good job. Good job, Lee. Way, way to build the stakes up where she's got to comply, my guy. Yeah, make her conform to how you want it to be.
Peter Schrager
Sir. Keepers Hartley. That would be my recommendation. Is a new and unique style of whiskey. It combines the best of Irish and American whiskey, creating the smooth character of Irish whiskey and the bold flavors of American whiskeys. If you're a whiskey fan, you've got to try it. Drink responsibly. All right, so we made the comparison to Lee's situation to Aaron Rodgers and the Jets. Earlier in the show, we talked about the New York side of things. What the hell are they going to do? They've decided to move on, et cetera, et cetera. Mike Florio pointing out recently, this also means they're going to be moving on from Devonte Adams. He is due $36 million, and I can't imagine they would want to maintain that on the roster. So it feels like you move on from Rogers, you move on to devonte Adams. Devonte Adams has mentioned that he'd be interested in the Niners, the Rams, the Chargers. But coming out west would be ideal for devonte Adams in this situation, regardless of what Aaron Rodgers does. Which brings up the discussion of Rogers and what he does next. And thanks to our friends at DraftKings, we got odds. We have got ourselves some odds on where Aaron Rodgers could end up following his departure from the New York Jets. The odds go as follows.
Matt Rogers
Oh, you don't want. You don't want Brady to guess?
Peter Schrager
I think he's already seen him.
Matt Rogers
Oh, okay. Never.
Bowen Yang
Yeah. Well, you want to guess based on the. The guess for. Based on my research and pre show notes.
Matt Rogers
I certainly. Because I don't see the pre show notes anymore.
Peter Schrager
Can we get. Can we.
Bowen Yang
You know, what do you. You don't log in the Google Doc?
Matt Rogers
Yeah, I don't. I meant that.
Bowen Yang
Well, that's not our fault.
Matt Rogers
I know the topics. I just don't look at Y's information anymore because I can't see it.
Peter Schrager
Lavar doesn't go to the doctor.
Matt Rogers
I lie on on Lee to do it the old fashioned way. I send it to my email and I do. Thank you.
Peter Schrager
Lavar doesn't go to the doc.
Matt Rogers
I don't go on the Google Docs. I don't. I've never seen Yalls notes. I've never seen the live Living document ever. I tried twice and you couldn't log into. No, you just click on Shame me.
Bowen Yang
I'm not shaming you. I'm asking a question.
Matt Rogers
No, I couldn't get in. That's why I use my email. Damn it.
Bowen Yang
Hey, adapt or die. That's how this world works.
Matt Rogers
I mean, look, I got replacements for y'all. So if y'all don't want me no more, I got people to go to. All right? Just like Lee. Lee's got somebody to go to. I got somebody to go to that'll love on me.
Peter Schrager
Yeah, we're trying to put you up on game, though.
Matt Rogers
Yeah. Shut up.
Peter Schrager
Shut up.
Matt Rogers
Up.
Bowen Yang
Well done.
Matt Rogers
It was it. That was stick, but that like that. That's okay.
Bowen Yang
It was timely.
Matt Rogers
It was all right.
Peter Schrager
All right. So, Lavar, did you like to take a stab at this?
Matt Rogers
No, I don't.
Peter Schrager
Hold on, hold on.
Bowen Yang
No, now you have to.
Peter Schrager
Now you have to because I believe that one of them.
Matt Rogers
I don't want to play your game.
Peter Schrager
I believe that you're going to be upset about this list of teams that are favorites.
Matt Rogers
Yes.
Peter Schrager
Chris, do we have some theme show music we can play for?
Matt Rogers
How many. This, how many teams are on this list?
Peter Schrager
All right, well, I mean, as many as you want. We've got not as many as you.
Bowen Yang
Want, but let's say five.
Matt Rogers
Yeah, let's say five.
Bowen Yang
Top five.
Peter Schrager
And again, just to set the stage, these are, according to DraftKings, the favorites to land. Aaron Rodgers.
Bowen Yang
Number one.
Matt Rogers
The Pittsburgh Steelers.
Peter Schrager
Yeah.
Matt Rogers
I can read context clues, guys.
Peter Schrager
All right, all right.
Bowen Yang
Who's number two? For number two?
Matt Rogers
Number two. The Las Vegas Raiders.
Bowen Yang
Two for two. Let's go.
Matt Rogers
All right, all right.
Bowen Yang
I think you can get this next one, too. This next one's kind of easy.
Matt Rogers
All right, number three. Is it easy?
Bowen Yang
Kind of. I. I think.
Peter Schrager
I think this is absurd, this next.
Bowen Yang
One, by the way, I'll make a case if you want me to.
Matt Rogers
Cleveland Browns, down the list.
Bowen Yang
Nope.
Matt Rogers
Damn.
Peter Schrager
Thank you.
Bowen Yang
Think about old stomping grounds.
Matt Rogers
Oh, the New York Giants.
Bowen Yang
No, no, no. No. Stomping grounds for Rogers.
Matt Rogers
The Green Bay Packers.
Bowen Yang
No, no, no.
Peter Schrager
Sorry.
Bowen Yang
Like. Like where he grew up type thing.
Matt Rogers
Oh, okay. Oh, he's in California guy. The Seattle Seahawks, maybe?
Peter Schrager
Nope, nope. They're just north of Ventura County.
Matt Rogers
The. The Rams?
Bowen Yang
No. Nope.
Matt Rogers
The Chargers?
Peter Schrager
No.
Bowen Yang
Nope.
Matt Rogers
All right, well, I'm gonna go back to my list, by the way, a little. I'm gonna go back to my list.
Peter Schrager
A little hint. Not the Clippers, either.
Matt Rogers
Dang. All right, what about the Tennessee Titans?
Peter Schrager
They are fourth.
Bowen Yang
Number four.
Matt Rogers
Thank you. All right, I'm going to take Tennessee Titans. All right. Number five. Old stomping grounds. Let's see. How about the 49ers?
Peter Schrager
Yeah, there it is. Come on, come on, come on. That's three.
Bowen Yang
That's like four.
Peter Schrager
But that was number three on the list. Number three.
Matt Rogers
Are there any more left? Did I get number five?
Bowen Yang
There's. There's one that seems a bit odd, too.
Matt Rogers
A bit. A bit odd? A bit odd? Oh, man. A bit odd. I mean, I would hate to say it, but a bit odd would maybe be. Is it the NFC or the afc? I'm thinking nfc.
Peter Schrager
Yeah.
Matt Rogers
Is it the nfc?
Peter Schrager
Yeah.
Matt Rogers
Is it the Vikings?
Peter Schrager
Hey, there you go.
Bowen Yang
Well done.
Peter Schrager
They are tied with the Titans at plus 750.
Matt Rogers
All right, there we go. Y'all leave me the hell alone.
Peter Schrager
All right, so let me. All right, let me ask you this. I. If I'm betting on this, I would bet the Titans. I think he's. He's got a place in Nashville.
Bowen Yang
All that stuff helps to have multiple places.
Peter Schrager
And so he's got that spot. And it feels like if they're not.
Matt Rogers
Them Keebler elf trees and Tennessee, if.
Peter Schrager
If they're not fond. If they're not fond on, you know, the quarterback situation, and they go, Abdul Carter at number one, maybe Rogers would make sense as sort of a bridge.
Matt Rogers
Which would you rather do? A quarterback at number one or Aaron Rodgers on free agent market?
Bowen Yang
I would rather take Rogers and then take Abdul Carter. I think that's a better combination.
Peter Schrager
The Niners being at third is the. Like. I believe it'll be the Titans. I want it to be the Niners desperately.
Bowen Yang
Okay, let's just. Let me talk about this first. So if you're wondering why, like, the Steelers, Raiders or Titans. Okay. Would be potentially involved, I think we all know they have a need, but also for each one of those teams. Would you guys guess it's been five years for each one of those franchise I just named, and that includes a combination of quarterbacks. All right. To amount to the amount of passing yards, touchdown passes, or as few of interceptions as Rogers had just this past season for the New York Jets. So just let your mind wrap around that for a second. The Steelers, Raiders and Titans in the past five seasons have not had a quarterback or a combination of quarterbacks pass for as many yards or as many touchdowns and as few of interceptions.
Matt Rogers
Right.
Bowen Yang
As Rogers did this past year for the Jets. So for a lot of people out there, and they look at a lot of the advanced analytics, the epa, all those other stats you want to look at for kind of digging into, you know, how Rogers performed, throw that on a shelf for a second. Because those three franchises, it's been a while, right? We're talking about like the, the last really good season Ben Roethlisberger had back in 2020. And you have to kind of keep going back to one of the better seasons that Derek Carr had with Jon Gruden back for the Raiders. So that's how long it's been. So if you're wondering why at 42 years old, off this past season with the jets, why any of those three teams would be interested or want him, that's why. Because as much as you want to sit there and say, well, he's maybe he's on the downslope or maybe he doesn't have it anymore, he has it to an extent that's been better than any of those teams franchises have seen in the past five years. All right. Now the San Francisco one is, it is interesting because you can't throw them into that conversation. Brock Purdy has played really well within that system. I think one of the things that makes the Brock Purdy contract or the extension that's coming his way kind of fascinating to me is, is if Brock Purdy was to hit the free agent market, let's just say he was going to go be a free agent, what do you think he would warrant on the free agent market? Like, would there be a ton of suitors in your opinion?
Matt Rogers
A ton. I think there would be a ton if the price was right. I, I don't think it would be a lazy okay to say that. No. So he's had success.
Bowen Yang
He's had success, but we don't view him or look at him like, obviously not. Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, I wouldn't put him in Jalen Hurts category. No, I think there's a, so there's a list of quarterbacks that you'd view and say as far as his, his skill now, he's got some intangibles that you know how he plays under duress, how he fits within that system that clearly Kyle Shanahan loves and he excels within it. But I think the question you have to ask yourself if you're San Francisco is A, could you upgrade at the position if you could and then B, if the roster around, around him starts to not look the same as Debo Samuel is on the trading block and you know how much and how long you are, you'll be able to pay Christian Mac, where you dealt with injuries now and everything he had this year and the rest of the defense, because.
Matt Rogers
How long can Trent Williams hold up?
Bowen Yang
Sure, Trent Williams is part of that. But, but again, that all goes into. You're. You don't have to pay Brock purdy somewhere around $50 million per year. So if that's the case, how do you make that all work and then still maximize Brock Purdy where he's not going to be playing with what he has had around him under this rookie deal. And so it does draw to light the question of. Well, let's just say that they were interested in upgrade. I mean, John lynch has called about Tom Brady. There's a reason why that was the case. You know, they've probably called about maybe some others just to inquire and see what, what it would take. You know, I mean, for example, if you're San Francisco and you could trade for Trevor Lawrence, would you?
Peter Schrager
Yes.
Matt Rogers
Hell yes.
Bowen Yang
So does that kind of. Does that, does that kind of make them. The odds make a little bit of sense?
Matt Rogers
I think they end up having buyers. I think anybody who would do a trade to get them and take on that contract is going to have buyer's remorse. But at least the potential is worth the risk. I think the potential is worth the risk with Trevor Lawrence.
Peter Schrager
So I, I looked at the odds and thought and the way you, you play it out and lay it out makes a ton of sense. I looked at the odds and just thought, okay, this is DraftKings throwing an interesting wrinkle into the order to, to stir the discussion and get a little more run like you see this happen all the times with betting sites, they'll throw a team in there like the Cowboys. Cause they know it'll get talked about. But if it's laid out like that and you know, they had previous interest in him, I would love to see Rogers because it would be kind of an appropriate in Dallas come. No, no. In. In San Fran. Kind of an appropriate come full circle moment considering, you know, there's talks that, you know, they were going to draft him Then they didn't. They passed on him and he slipped in the first round. You know, the. The rumor trade, that was almost a done deal a couple of years ago. And I think Rogers would 100% if you were to ask him to stack a preferred destinations this upcoming year, I think the Niners would be way at the top of the list and there'd be a significant gap between them and everybody else.
Matt Rogers
They had a decline this year that would have me nervous. But, I mean, Shanahan knows what he's doing and maybe it was just a down moment. I mean, hell, Andy Reid had a down moment in time in Philadelphia, costed him his job. I mean, it happens. But can they recover from where they found themselves this year with some of the question marks surrounding some of the personnel? I don't think you get Brandon Iuk back all the way healthy enough to impact the way that you would assume he would. We just brought up Debo and. And the host of other names that Q has thrown out there. I just think this one is if I'm Aaron Rodgers, I believe in the coach. Do I believe in the personnel? I would say that would be my biggest concern.
Peter Schrager
Rogers was better than Purdy this year.
Matt Rogers
Sure, Rogers could have probably made it a better year for them. And what does this year look like?
Peter Schrager
That was coming off an injury in an awful situation.
Matt Rogers
But what does this year look like? What does this year look like?
Peter Schrager
He played better down the stretch.
Bowen Yang
He played better down the stretch. The healthier God is the year with.
Matt Rogers
That personnel in San Fran on offense. What does this season coming up? What does that look like? Who are his weapons? Yeah, what does he got going on?
Peter Schrager
Maybe devonte.
Matt Rogers
Okay, maybe we're going to base it off Ricky Pierce. All okay. They. They gonna bring in Cooper cup too. Like, I mean, who knows that? Maybe they've been known to do deals.
Bowen Yang
I think the bigger question's not about the personnel in San Francisco in a way with Rogers, it's more because it's still a factor, don't get me wrong. But I think the difference is one of the reasons why Kyle Shanahan loves Brock Purdy is because he runs that offense to a tee. And some people have tried to label him a system quarterback, which is like, all right, like sometimes we get in these dumb debates about, well, you know, he's so good just in that system. It's like, well, no, he runs the system the way he's been taught and how he should at a really high level. Like there's other guys who tried and it didn't work out quite as well. I mean, we've, we've seen that in San Francisco. So it's a credit to Brock Purdy for being able to do things exactly how Kyle Shanahan wants them done. I think the one question I'd have for Aaron Rodgers, if there actually was legitimate interest is would you be willing to do everything exactly how Kyle Shanahan wants, or are you going to be trying to come in and say, no, this is how I like doing it, this is what I want to do. Because that's going to look drastically different than what we saw for the New York jets this year. It's going to look more like what we saw at the end with, you know, Malaflor and, and Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay, because lafleur comes from that tree. So that's would be. I think one of the biggest hurdles is there might not even be a desire from the San Francisco 49ers because they have a quarterback who they feel like they can get to a Super bowl with, which they have and potentially win that super bowl with with the right pieces because of the way he executes within the offense. Whereas maybe that's a question mark with Aaron Rodgers or maybe that's something that they would have to find out and maybe they're not willing to. So it is odd that you would see it for the odds for Aaron Rodgers to end up there, but I think there's a desire in Aaron Rodgers side and maybe there's just a thought because of the timing of everything with Brock Purdy and where this roster is at in San Francisco, that they would potentially kick the tires on a guy who's going to be a first ballot hall of Famer, who wants to be there. Like there's, there's something powerful too about a player who's not just coming there for money, who's not just coming there for a vendetta to show everyone he's still got it. Who's like, no, this is actually how I want to end my career. Like, if this is how it's going to go out, I'm going to do everything I can to come to this place and try to bring a Super bowl to it with whatever I have left in me. And, and there's something powerful to that. So I don't know. Again, I don't, I don't know if this is as good of a chance as Trevor Lawrence get abducted by aliens, whatever you said earlier, but I think it is interesting to talk about this sort of narrative at this time of.
Peter Schrager

The parade in Philly is start starting I, I think soon if I'm not mistaken, but people are already lined up there. They've got video of an Eagles fan blowing chunks over the guardrail. Hit, hit the bottle a little too early on Valentine's Day. C.J. gardner Johnson's wearing a an interesting sweatshirt to the event of the Philadelphia Eagles. Little play on words with the Roman numerals of the Super Bowl. Swifties can bleep my bleep. So I'm sure that'll land well for, for everybody there. So that is. Do they punch a police horse in Philadelphia this year?
Matt Rogers
No.
Peter Schrager
Is that. You don't think they would?
Matt Rogers
No.
Peter Schrager
I don't know man. It went so well the first time they did it. Like I don't know why that wouldn't be. That wouldn't be the go to there for Eagles fans. But congratulations. They are super bowl champions and the team that they took care of in the Super Bowls, the Kansas City Chiefs. And the Kansas City Chiefs reportedly have set a quote unquote deadline for Travis Kelsey to make his decision on his future. According to the Athletic, the Chiefs have given Travis Kel, the Travis Kelsey A March 14 deadline to make a decision on his future. Which is interesting cause he's got an 11 and a half million dollar roster bonus due on the 15th. So is this actually a deadline or is this just doing the math and he's got to make a decision at that point anyways. So we're just running with this.
Matt Rogers
What's the best decision guys? What, what you guys feel is the best decision for Travis Kelsey in this given time, come back and play one more year.
Peter Schrager
After what we saw on the field.
Matt Rogers
Last Sunday, that's the best situation for him.
Bowen Yang
Yeah. Q. I mean, he doesn't have a big cap hit. I mean, it is, it's a little under 20 million and it depends on if they want to extend it out for another year. They could lessen that. If they want to make it like a year to year thing now, they'd have to potentially take, you know, a cap hit in a year where he's retired or done playing. But that's the risk you take for a guy who's going to be a Hall of Famer. If I was him, like, I always tell players, like, keep playing, you're, you're never going to be able to go back and do it. And I can promise you this, when you are done playing, there'll be oftentimes you wish you could go back and do it. Like, I know plenty of guys who are like, man, I could go in just for a series or I mean, there's plenty of those guys who do that. And look, honestly, you know, maybe there's a scenario here too where he talks to them and says, you know what, I'm going to stay in shape and I'll stay ready and if things work out next year where you start to make a run, I'll gladly be able to come in and help out and support in the second half of the season and sign then. But, you know, I want to take some time off. I'll let my body heal. I don't think I can go through a 17 game regular season. And I think he's earned that or at least the right to be able to have that conversation with Kansas City too. And that might be something that's on the table, but I look at it and say to any player, exhaust all efforts of trying to continue to play because the transition, it's difficult for most people. And even though he's got a podcast set up and, and obviously his personal life is, is not so personal personal, it's a little more public and there's some things there, but there's nothing like playing. And you'll never be able to fill that void. You know, for a lot of guys, I feel like you feel like you're, you were born to be able to go play the game of football and fulfill that specific position and have the chance to do it. And after that it's really hard to reinvent or find that identity. So I would say exhaust all efforts of it too, because, because the other thing is like all the marketing money he's getting from everything else that's going on too. There'll be some of that with podcasts, but then it's kind of the next guy. It's like the next titan that comes along. I mean, like when Tom Brady retired, I think there's a lot of people who thought, oh, what's the NFL going to do? And then do we ever even worry about that now? Like, don't we look at all these quarterbacks and go, yeah, I think they're in good hands. Like, you got Lamar, you got Mahomes, you got Josh Allen, you've got Joe Burrow, you have all these guys you can point to. Jalen hurts and you go, yeah, I think the league's in a pretty good spot. So it's not going to take long for someone else to step in those shoes that Travis Kelsey leaves. So I would say keep playing, man. Exhaust all efforts at it.
Matt Rogers
I, I, you know, I agree that, that he should, if he wants to continue to play, he should play. And if he feels as though that's the direction he wants to go in with everything he has going on, then that's what he should do. He's playing with house money in, in the most amazing way right now. I mean, he, he's dating arguably the hottest person in music entertainment. He's played in all kinds of just as many, the same amount of games that, that Patrick Mahomes earning the, the, the title and earning the accolades that he's earned. He's playing, played in those same games. You know, he's always been in the, the championship round. He's making it to Super Bowls and he largely in part because of his connection with Patrick Mahomes. So I don't think there's a right or wrong answer to this. If he decided he wanted to walk away today, I do not think that there is a blemish, a tarnish, any type of smear or smudge on Travis Kelce's career and, and what he's represented to the league and to his franchise with, with the Kansas City Chiefs, he's.
Peter Schrager
Played in 25 career playoff games.
Matt Rogers
It's a lot like, a lot, a.
Peter Schrager
Lot that puts him top 10, by the way. If you're wondering who's number one, I know this is Tom Brady who played in 48. Like if you go back to the 16 game regular season schedule, Tom Brady played an extra four years in just the playoffs in his NFL career, which is just, you look at his situation and just what he did in his career. And when you get further removed from it and you just see the things he did, it's mind boggling.
Bowen Yang
What is a player, the level at which he was playing at the end. You know, I don't think enough people appreciate how he was still one of the top 10 quarterbacks at the end at flipping 45 years old. And it's not only tough to have your body be able to withstand that beating and just everything he took, but just play at that high of a level for that long in your career. Everyone takes for granted that, like the longevity. And I've always said this, and I'll continue to say this, Tom Brady's greatest superpower to me, and I know he's talked about it, he talked about processing everything else. It's probably what, I don't know, maybe he'd admit it, maybe he wouldn't. To me, it's a sacrifice. And maybe that comes with his passion for the game of football and his competitiveness. But he was willing to sacrifice his off seasons and other things in his life to make the pursuit of winning Super Bowls, the pursuit of playing at a high level for the entirety of his career into 45. He put that before everything else. And there's no other player that I think, as far as when you look at their diet, how they kind of transformed over time, when you look at how hard they trained, how often they trained, like all the things they did, where their focus was during the off season, yes, he had, he has other things kind of going on, but he really didn't dive in a big way into social media until he got out of New England, for that matter. Like, he started pumping out better content, like at the maybe end of his time in New England, but really once he got into Tampa and then his post career, you know, once he sat out for a year. So I, I just, I look at it, I think that still to me is the one thing that I don't think there's another player that's willing to sacrifice the way he did in his personal life and everything else that he had going on out around him, maybe even in a professional manner, and to be able to be in the condition that he needed to be to play at that high of a level. And so when you look at Mahomes and we think about the loss and where that puts those two, it's hard to think that he'll be able to catch him because it's just, it's hard to think that Mahomes is going to be able to play another 15 years, and especially at the high of level like he's playing right now.
Peter Schrager
Tom Brady gave up booze during the regular season, too. Wouldn't drink during the entire football season, buddy.
Bowen Yang
I don't even know if he drank much other than tequila. I mean, I was kind of like his only really go to could you?
Peter Schrager
I mean, that's the thing.
Bowen Yang
You couldn't have a. You couldn't have a Lavar island if that's the case. Think about that. Imagine like, like Lavar, you're set at the bar, Tom walks up and you're like, hey, man, let me get another Lavar. He's like, nope. Dang, that's tough.
Matt Rogers
It's tough.
Peter Schrager
Yeah.
Bowen Yang
And Lee, he's definitely not drinking with you, Lee. Well, although, Jonas, you like ipa, so he's not sitting out having anything with you?
Peter Schrager
No, he wouldn't have anything with me. Although I think it would have made his decision a little bit more difficult if he had Keeper's Heart. Because Keeper's Heart is a new and unique style of whiskey that combines the best of Irish and American whiskey, creating the smooth character of Irish whiskey and the bold flavors of American whiskeys. If you're a whiskey fan, you've got to try it. Drink responsibly. Two pros and a cup of Joe. Filling in for the Dan Patrick show here on Fox Sports Radio. Lavar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you. And coming up, Knox. Coming up next here, we are going to close up.

Bowen Yang
Time to find out what's left. It's Lee's leftovers.
Peter Schrager
All right, lead to lap our executive producer, who's already stressed about the amount of time he has to fill here on this segment. Lee, what are we looking at today?
LaVar Arrington
Well, guys, no, football, obviously. We're done with. Done with football. So now we get to look forward to the NBA All Star Weekend, which tips off tonight. That's right. We got the NBA All Star Friday All Star celebrity game.
Bowen Yang
What city's hosting it?
LaVar Arrington
The Bay.
Peter Schrager
Bay area Fun.
Matt Rogers
Oakland. Oh, dang.
LaVar Arrington
Yeah.
Bowen Yang
If you're.
LaVar Arrington
If you're wondering about.
Bowen Yang
Now that we're on the subject, which professional league has the worst All Star Game, is it the. I mean, it's technically got to be the NFL, right? Yeah. Is a Major League Baseball the best or hockey the best?
Peter Schrager
It's the NFL.
Bowen Yang
NFL is the worst.
Peter Schrager
Angel.
LaVar Arrington
Hockey's different this year.
Peter Schrager
The best is Major League Baseball.
Bowen Yang
Baseball's the best. Right?
LaVar Arrington
Can I.
Peter Schrager
Can I. Hi, Christopher Fat here. Can I be honest? I. I have liked the changes they've.
LaVar Arrington
Made to the Pro Bowl.
Peter Schrager
I feel like it's rising up in.
LaVar Arrington
My rankings over the NBA All Star.
Peter Schrager
Game, which is just atrocious. That makes one of us.
Bowen Yang
They actually still play basketball in the NBA?
LaVar Arrington
I mean, technically, yes.
Peter Schrager
Still basketball. Yeah. But I don't want to see Joe Burrow play Connect Four. Like, I want to see him actually play a game, and it's just turned into. It's a total circus. The NBA All Star Game, and this kills me to say is better than the NFL all star game.
Bowen Yang
100%. It's better. 100%. But major league Baseball is the best.
Peter Schrager
Yes. Would agree.
LaVar Arrington
And, well, now that we're on the subject, NHL has the four nations face off. USA Crushed Finland last night.
Bowen Yang
That's right. That's right. Usa.
Matt Rogers
Oh, my God.
Peter Schrager
Hey, how about the kachuk?
Matt Rogers
I'm not snoring on that either.
Peter Schrager
How about the kachuks?
Matt Rogers
What about the Kachuks?
Peter Schrager
What do you mean?
Matt Rogers
What do I mean?
Peter Schrager
Nunchucks?
Bowen Yang
No, the Kachuks, man.
Matt Rogers
Come on.
Bowen Yang
Hockey royalty, man. Pops, the brothers. All of them.
Peter Schrager
Yeah, but I'm just saying they had, like, four points. They counted for, like, four of the six. Six goals or something like that.
Matt Rogers
I need playoffs.
Peter Schrager
Damn.
Matt Rogers
I just like to wait till the.
LaVar Arrington
Playoffs, guys, for this celebrity game. It's gonna be.
Matt Rogers
Where was he going?
Peter Schrager
Playoffs.
LaVar Arrington
Team Barry Bonds versus team Jerry Rice.
Matt Rogers
What?
LaVar Arrington
Jerry Rice's team has Turtle, Owens, Shaboozi.
Bowen Yang
Wait, what is this?
LaVar Arrington
This is the celebrity game tonight for the all. For the NBA All Stars.
Matt Rogers
Oh, to play basketball?
LaVar Arrington
Yeah.
Bowen Yang
But you've got NFL all Stars. It's like.
Matt Rogers
Like coaches to play some basketball.
Bowen Yang
That' confusing as hell.
LaVar Arrington
I know.
Matt Rogers
It's. Barry Bonds was a part of a dunk contest. That what Deion Sanders was in.
Peter Schrager
Okay.
Bowen Yang
They should have had Kendrick Lamar and Drake. That's what they should have done. If they really. If they really want to make a dunk.
Matt Rogers
They had to. You. They had to use coach rims.
Bowen Yang
How do you miss that joke?
Matt Rogers
Hey, nerf balls and nerf ball rims for a dunk contest between Drake and Kendrick Lamar.
Peter Schrager
Lamar should be sitting on top of a cake somewhere there.
Bowen Yang
Jodas. How. How short is he?
Peter Schrager
Sits on the curb, his feet dangle.
Matt Rogers
God dang.
Bowen Yang
What does he drink out of with his bell bottoms? What does he drink out of?
LaVar Arrington
A thimble.
Matt Rogers
Thimble? God dang.
Peter Schrager
Brush his teeth out of a thimble in a spiral.
Bowen Yang
I'm trying to go down the line of all the short jokes.
Peter Schrager
I'm not doing this. I'll just say, is Barry Bonds allowed to be on the gas?
LaVar Arrington
He is, but technically he is the coach, so.
Matt Rogers
Oh, he's the coach.
LaVar Arrington
He's the coach with two chains.
Bowen Yang
Who are the coaches?
LaVar Arrington
Two chains and Barry Bonds are on one team. Jerry Rice and some influencer I've never heard of.
Matt Rogers
What's the influencer's name?
LaVar Arrington
Kb. KB Lame. Last name's Lame. KB Lame.
Matt Rogers
Okay. That's a. That's a material up name. That's not his government, but okay.
Peter Schrager
By the way, they that hard up on cash, they got to go with two chains. It couldn't get three.
Matt Rogers
I mean, that's his.
Bowen Yang
All right, let's see what else we got. That was so.
Matt Rogers
That was.
Bowen Yang
That was.
Matt Rogers
That was like the worst bad. That was like the worst bad place.
Peter Schrager
It can't be.
Bowen Yang
What else we got? Transition.
LaVar Arrington
All right, we've talked bad sports. Let's talk good sports. Daytona500 on Fox this weekend.
Bowen Yang
Robin's Racing.
Matt Rogers
Go fast right now.
LaVar Arrington
Bubba Wallace was victorious in dual.
Peter Schrager
You're scared, Cole. You're scared.
LaVar Arrington
If you guys want some odds, I'll give you. How about Kyle larson? Is that 14:1?
Peter Schrager
Don't even waste your time listening to Lee's betting advice on Daytona. He's awful.
LaVar Arrington
William Byron. Also Team Hendrix.
Peter Schrager
None of these guys.
LaVar Arrington
14 1. Chase Elliott.
Matt Rogers
Come on. What about.
LaVar Arrington
Let's go for his fourth Daytona Watermelon man.
Matt Rogers
Come on.
LaVar Arrington
If you're this kind of person and you want to bet Kyle Busch, you could do that. 12 to 1. He's high up there. And Joey Logano, 12. 12 to 1 as well.
Matt Rogers
None.
Peter Schrager
I swear to Christ. I have asked Lee to lap at least four times because he loves nascar. He love. It's lap by lap with lead to lap.
LaVar Arrington
That's right.
Peter Schrager
He loves it. I've asked him for betting advice every single time I've asked him. I haven't even gotten a top three finish.
LaVar Arrington
I don't think that's true.
Peter Schrager
That is true.
Matt Rogers
Chastain, on this. This list. Where's my dog? The water.
LaVar Arrington
Ross Chastain, 22. 1.
Matt Rogers
Take him. Him.
Bowen Yang
Oh, yeah.
Matt Rogers
Let's go.
LaVar Arrington
Ross, right there with Bo.
Bowen Yang
Oh, yeah.
LaVar Arrington
Who's sitting in the pool?
Matt Rogers
Go kick some ass, Ross.
Bowen Yang
Oh, yeah.
Matt Rogers
Drive that car.
Peter Schrager
Hey, who's the. Who's the favorite?
Bowen Yang
Who's the favorite?
Peter Schrager
Driving a Toyota.
Matt Rogers
Oh, yeah.
Peter Schrager
Drive that car, Laney.
LaVar Arrington
Drive a Toyota.
Matt Rogers
Easy. Drive a Toyota.
Peter Schrager
Denny Hamlin.
LaVar Arrington
Danny Hamlin's up there. Yeah, Danny's going for his fourth. Fourth Daytona win.
Matt Rogers
He's going to get comeback driver of the year.
Peter Schrager
What a call. Yeah, why don't you put that in your exhaust pipe and smoke it, Lee?
Matt Rogers
In a row.
Peter Schrager
Lee, can you. Can you give a. Can you give a winner here, please? Like two or give two or three that you. That you think are going to be winners here for.
LaVar Arrington
Okay, I'm going to give you reigning champion William Byron.
Matt Rogers
Oh, God.
Bowen Yang
That doesn't sound like a winner.
Matt Rogers
Nope.
Bowen Yang
That does not sound like it.
Peter Schrager
Just the sound of it. Doesn't you miss me with that, Lee?
LaVar Arrington
Kyle Larson, Also Team Hendrix. 14.
Bowen Yang
There's a chance.
LaVar Arrington
And then I'll give you Denny Hamlin. Denny Hamlin. 12.
Bowen Yang
Okay. Also a chance.
LaVar Arrington
Those are my three top three. If you want to.
Matt Rogers
I'm not with you, Lee.
Bowen Yang
What else? Do you have anything else, Lee, baby.
LaVar Arrington
Chastain's a good one.
Matt Rogers
You're crashing out, Lee.
LaVar Arrington
I'm crashing out?
Matt Rogers
What do you mean? I'm going strong.
LaVar Arrington
Going strong. It's SNL50 this weekend. We got a homecoming concert. We've got an anniversary special.
Matt Rogers
No, Lee. No. We want to hear about you wearing your pea coat and swindling people.
LaVar Arrington
I'm looking right now.
Matt Rogers
Your liquor.
LaVar Arrington
I think I found where I'm staying tonight.
Matt Rogers
I'm staying. Where are you staying?
LaVar Arrington
At the. At the hotel that also has the rotating lounge. Downtown Los Angeles just. Just down the street has a rotating lounge. Yeah, Rotating.
Matt Rogers
Have a rotating bed.
LaVar Arrington
It's going to have one.
Bowen Yang
Can we just go back over the financial component of this little. The week that you've had?
LaVar Arrington
Yeah, I'm losing.
Bowen Yang
So you. You rented out your place.
Matt Rogers
Yes.
Bowen Yang
That's on the market.
LaVar Arrington
Yeah.
Bowen Yang
To sell. But you rent it out for the month. Right.
Matt Rogers
But he rented it out because of a breakup up?
Bowen Yang
No, well, no. They initially. They couldn't sell it. So they're trying to get us any sort of cash flow.
Matt Rogers
But they were initially posting it because of breaking up. Initially, yes.
Bowen Yang
Sure.
Matt Rogers
Parting ways.
LaVar Arrington
Sure. Yes.
Matt Rogers
Okay.
Bowen Yang
Okay.
Peter Schrager
All right.
Matt Rogers
Okay.
Bowen Yang
So you rent it out and then now you're basically dipping into whatever profits you're making off this.
Peter Schrager
The rental.
Bowen Yang
Right. Or you're losing money running it.
LaVar Arrington
Yes, it's an awful. Yes, it was an awful decision.
Matt Rogers
You're losing money renting it by leader Lap.
LaVar Arrington
Yes.
Bowen Yang
So not only are you losing money on actually renting it out, you're spending more money. And by the way, so this begs the question.
LaVar Arrington
I was trying to camp. I was trying to go camping in the.
Bowen Yang
Begs the question.
Matt Rogers
So you were doing that out of necessity.
Bowen Yang
Go ahead. Have you paid off your fantasy league winners yet? Cuz you were the commissioner of your league and you took all of the pot. Did you use it? Used it?
Matt Rogers
Did you use it?
LaVar Arrington
It's paying for Valentine's.
Matt Rogers
Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. I forgot about that.
Bowen Yang
You were trusted.
Matt Rogers
Oh my gosh.
LaVar Arrington
I was hoping I'd win squares this weekend.
Matt Rogers
Uncomfortable.
LaVar Arrington
I was one point off you $3,000.
Matt Rogers
A conspiracy theory. That is a mass proportion. That is ridiculously delight.
LaVar Arrington
That is true.
Matt Rogers
That's. I'm bad.
LaVar Arrington
I think it should be replaced.
Matt Rogers
He spent all their money.
Bowen Yang
Your debts off.
Peter Schrager
Dude, didn't Bernie Madoff do this? Isn't that how that started?
Bowen Yang
Probably to a higher degree, which is a Ponzi scheme.
Peter Schrager
But I think he started it with a fantasy league and he defrauded. Luckily.
LaVar Arrington
You're on to me.
Peter Schrager
You gotta pay them at some point.
Matt Rogers
You're on to me.
LaVar Arrington
Nobody's come knocking.
Matt Rogers
Oh, not yet. Not yet.
Peter Schrager
Because you're homeless.
LaVar Arrington
That's true.
Bowen Yang
They don't know what are they gonna find you?
Matt Rogers
Happy Valentine's Day, everyone. Don't be like lead to last.
Peter Schrager
You scam artistly.
Matt Rogers
Oh my gosh, Lee. That's ridiculous, bro. Good luck to.
Summary of "Hour 3 – Landing Spots, Retirement Decisions & Parades" from The Dan Patrick Show
Release Date: February 14, 2025
In this episode of The Dan Patrick Show, hosted by LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, and Jonas Knox filling in for Dan Patrick, the panel delves into a range of topics spanning personal anecdotes, major NFL developments, and updates on other sports events. The discussion is lively, peppered with humor, and rich in insightful analysis.
The show kicks off with the hosts sharing their Valentine's Day plans, which take a humorous turn due to unexpected weather conditions.
LaVar Arrington shares his canceled camping plans caused by rain:
"They were going to go camping and then the rain kind of destroyed all that." ([03:03])
The conversation evolves into playful banter about alternative plans, including attending a performance of "Phantom of the Opera" and heading to a speakeasy afterward. LaVar jokes about keeping a flask hidden in his pea coat pocket:
"Hey, baby, I will have a cocktail in the garden when she's not looking." ([04:16])
Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang engage in light-hearted teasing about LaVar's predicament, highlighting the camaraderie among the hosts.
A significant portion of the episode centers on Aaron Rodgers' potential departure from the New York Jets and his prospects with other NFL teams. The panel examines various scenarios, supported by insights from Peter Schrager and Matt Rogers.
Peter Schrager introduces the topic by discussing the Jets' decision to move on from Devonte Adams:
"Mike Florio pointing out recently, this also means they're going to be moving on from Devonte Adams." ([07:33])
The hosts analyze DraftKings' odds on Rodgers' next destination, listing the top five favorite teams:
Matt Rogers humorously navigates through the guesses:
"I can read context clues, guys." ([11:18])
Bowen Yang reflects on Rodgers' performance:
"As Rogers did this past year for the Jets... he has it to an extent that's been better than any of those teams franchises have seen in the past five years." ([15:18])
Bowen Yang emphasizes Rodgers' statistical edge over these franchises:
"The Steelers, Raiders and Titans in the past five seasons have not had a quarterback or a combination of quarterbacks pass for as many yards or as many touchdowns and as few of interceptions as Rogers had this past season for the New York Jets." ([15:18])
The discussion shifts to comparing Rodgers with Brock Purdy, the quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers: "The difference is one of the reasons why Kyle Shanahan loves Brock Purdy is because he runs that offense to a tee." ([18:25])
Peter Schrager and Bowen Yang delve into whether Rodgers can adapt to San Francisco's system and the potential for Rodgers to lead the team to a Super Bowl:
"Would you be willing to do everything exactly how Kyle Shanahan wants, or are you going to be trying to come in and say, no, this is how I like doing it?" ([21:03])
Matt Rogers concludes this segment by highlighting Rodgers' Hall of Fame potential and his positive impact on any team:
"He's a first ballot hall of famer, who wants to be there... try to bring a Super Bowl to it with whatever I have left in me." ([21:15])
Building on the previous discussion, the hosts compare the careers and futures of Aaron Rodgers and Brock Purdy.
Bowen Yang underscores Rodgers' longevity and dedication:
"Tom Brady's greatest superpower to me, and I know he's talked about it, is probably what... it's a sacrifice." ([34:00])
The panel reflects on Rodgers' disciplined approach to training and personal life, contrasting it with Purdy's current standing:
"He runs the system the way he's been taught and how he should... it's a credit to Brock Purdy for being able to do things exactly how Kyle Shanahan wants them done." ([21:15])
Matt Rogers acknowledges Rodgers' impressive playoff record, stating:
"He's played in 25 career playoff games. That puts him top 10, by the way." ([33:28])
The discussion touches on the challenges both quarterbacks face as they age, with Rodgers nearing his mid-40s and Purdy carving out his place:
"He also played at that high of a level for that long in your career. Everyone takes for granted that, like the longevity." ([34:00])
After an in-depth discussion on NFL matters, the hosts shift gears to cover updates in other sports, maintaining their signature humor and light-heartedness.
LaVar Arrington introduces the upcoming NBA All-Star Weekend, specifically the celebrity game hosted in the Bay Area:
"NBA All Star Weekend, which tips off tonight... Oakland." ([38:28])
The panel humorously critiques the quality of all-star games in various leagues, declaring the NFL's as the worst:
"Which professional league has the worst All Star Game, is it the... the NFL, right?" ([38:43])
