So join me starting Tuesday, May 6, where we'll delve into stories of the west and come to understand how it helps inform the ways in which we experience the region today.

What you saw that you liked, you didn't like. We have some NFL news. The Steelers have added Jalen Ramsey to their defensive backfield in a trade with the Miami Dolphins. Felt like it was inevitable he was being traded. The question was where was he going to go? And I thought Baltimore was a chance, but they brought in Jair Alexander and Jalen Ramsey going to the Pittsburgh Steelers. All right, poll question for the final hour of this Monday program seat and we'll get some phone calls. We'll talk about Ace Bailey. He is going to report to the Utah Jazz, but the damage is already done. He is. He has reported to the Utah Jazz. We can confirm he has reported to the Utah Jazz, which most draft picks do normally. But with Ace Bailey, we weren't quite sure because his reaction on draft night didn't exactly look like he was thrilled. To learn more about John Stockton and Carl Malone and Mark Eaton. All right, Seaton, which league is tougher.
Unknown Caller
To go from worst to first? NBA, MLB, NFL. Right now, Major League Baseball has 50% of that vote. NBA and NFL are pretty much even at 25% after that, I feel like NBA is, is the hardest to go worst to first. Yeah, I'm surprised by that. People also asking why the NHL is not an option. I feel like NHL is probably the easiest to go worst to first.
Dan Patrick
I need to do a little more research on that. But yes, Paul, it's also a factor.
Seton O'Connor
Is how many teams make the playoffs. 33% of teams make the MLB playoffs. I think it's 47% now for the NFL and it's over 50 that make the playoffs for the NBA. But MLB has a bunch of teams. They've had 30 teams over the past 40 years who miss the playoffs and won the World Series the next year. That said, some of those teams were pre wild card when it's really, really tough to make the playoffs.
Dan Patrick
Okay, little context. All right, thank you anyhow. Add a little context. By the way, the Malik Beasley gambling allegations highlight a growing problem in professional sports, certainly with these prop bets. But Shams reported that federal authorities are investigating the Pistons guard on allegations of gambling related to NBA games and prop bets as well. And this is when he played for the Milwaukee Bucks. Now, his attorney, I don't think did he many favors. Steve Haney says an investigation is not a charge. Malik is afforded the same right of presumption of innocence as anyone else under the U.S. constitution. As of now, he has not been charged with anything. I would want my representative to say he's not guilty of anything. He didn't do anything wrong. This just feels like, hey, you haven't found out anything yet, so let's treat him as being innocent. Feels like it's a word salad. You know, I know lawyers, attorneys, you know, they want to give you more. I would want less here. My client's not guilty. Yes, Todd, what, do you change it.
Todd Fritz
Up a little bit? Everyone says the no, we didn't do anything wrong. It's unequivocally false. And we've all heard all those before. Sometimes maybe if you mix it up a little bit, get a different result.
Dan Patrick
Well, I. I just want the message out there. My client's not guilty of anything. Not, hey, he's innocent until you find out some stuff on him. Yes, Paulie.
Seton O'Connor
Whenever I see a statement and the phrase categorically denies, I'm like, that dude's guilty, but he's got a good lawyer.
Dan Patrick
Categorically.
Seton O'Connor
Big catchphrase.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Speaking of Ace Bailey, his agency, it's. I guess GSE is the name of the agency. And here's Andrew Whitley, who is the president of the agency that represents Ace Bailey. We focused, you know, again, this was.
Seton O'Connor
Led by his longtime manager, Omar Cooper, who's who we're partnering with on this.
Dan Patrick
And Omar really, you know, focused more on fit.
Seton O'Connor
Rather than going third in the draft kind of thing.
Dan Patrick
He wanted someplace where.
Seton O'Connor
Where Ace could have the best possible basketball fit for his game.
Dan Patrick
And we think Utah is one of the best places he could have gone. Okay. Washington was the other one, and Brooklyn, apparently was the other one. But he did not want to go to Charlotte, didn't want to go to the 76ers, judging from his reaction when they called his name, going to the Utah Jazz, I don't think Utah was on that list. Yes, Paul.
Seton O'Connor
Sunday in Utah, Ace Bailey was introduced to the media, and they limited his time, but he was asked by a local reporter directly, did you consider not coming to Salt Lake City or want to join the Jazz? His answer was, I'm just blessed to be in the position I am.
Todd Fritz
He's all in on the Jazz.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Seton O'Connor
Nice move. Don't answer.
Dan Patrick
Wow.
Seton O'Connor
Is that a. Is that a yes? Is that a no?
Dan Patrick
Yes.
Todd Fritz
Todd, why don't you just say, I'm here, aren't I? That would probably be a better thing to say.
Dan Patrick
I'm just honored to Be in the NBA. That. That's it. It's a dream come true to be drafted to play in the NBA.
Unknown Caller
That's what he said, right?
Dan Patrick
Kind of. That's.
Unknown Caller
That's pretty much what he said, kind.
Dan Patrick
Of what he said. There damage feels like it's done, that he doesn't want to be there, but he's there. And. But things can change all of a sudden if he plays really well, the crowd's reaction to him, or he might love, you know, basketball. Crazy city like that, state like that. Not many guys want to go to the Wizards of the Nets, but that's a guy who's probably thinking, I can go and I can get my shots right away. I can make an impact and maybe I can be, you know, an all star sooner there than I can in Utah or Charlotte. 76ers. Yes. Yes. Todd.
Todd Fritz
I wish someone would have asked. Maybe they did. What convinced you to show up? Because there was several reports saying you weren't happy being picked by the Jazz. You, you know, a lot of people said that just. That was just on the list of teams you didn't want to go to. Yet you're here. So what. How would you. How do you describe why you're. You change your mind?
Dan Patrick
What are his options?
Todd Fritz
Is he going to say that? I'd love for him to say, what are my options? That would be a great answer. That would make all kinds of headlines, but I guess I'm stuck here.
Dan Patrick
Well, he's just going to say, of course I was coming here.
Todd Fritz
Yeah, but then someone's got to follow up and say, so you deny reports that said that you didn't want to talk to them or, you know, show them what you got. You didn't. Those are the teams you didn't shoot.
Dan Patrick
You're saying an athlete may. May not lie to the media, of.
Todd Fritz
Course, make them double down in front of the. The new team.
Dan Patrick
And then what? So who cares? He's here. So what? He's not going to tell you, no, I didn't want to come to Utah. All he's going to say is, hey, I don't know where that report came from, but I'm here and ready to go, ready to. Ready to get started. And then maybe you name a couple of players on the Utah roster. I'm looking forward to playing with Thorough Bailey. Yeah. A.C. he's not here. He did. He. He thought he doesn't play. Play here anymore. Yes.
Unknown Caller
Marvin Shannon Anderson is going to be good running me.
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
All right. Blake in New Orleans. Hi, Blake. What's on your mind today? Hi. I wanted to complete Rich Paul statement. He said that his client wants to compete now and win now, but also.
Seton O'Connor
Wants $52.6 million as a 40 year.
Dan Patrick
Old with over a half billion in on court learning earnings. So rather than take A paltry say 26 million and spend 27 on a big. LeBron wants it all. He wants his money. They weren't going to give a hometown discount and most guys don't want to do that. It just, you know, the, the different messages that were sent by Rich Paul in that statement of, you know, hey, kind of telling us and telling the laker organization, hey, LeBron wants to win now, the Lakers want to win now. Why do you think they don't want to win now? What exactly did they do or not do that would lead you to believe that they don't want to win? They're going to keep Austin Reeves, Dorian, Finney, they'll probably bring him back. They're going to get a big guy. I don't know how good he's going to be, but if deandre Ayton ends up with the Lakers, they're worst case, you know, scenarios for a starting lineup and his numbers are respectable. But I, I, I'm getting a, I'm getting a, a new and improved Luca. Like that's what I'm banking on. We get Luca for the entire year and he's in shape, reportedly in shape. So that's the big addition you got. You got addition by weight loss, addition by weight subtraction. He should be better, therefore you should be better. LeBron live up to your end of the bargain as well. Austin, Reeves, maybe Dalton connect gets in the rotation a little bit more. I mean it's not a great lineup, but it's a competitive lineup and we've seen Luca drag a Dallas team to the NBA Finals. I, I mean you're going to be maybe a top five, top four seed in the West. I mean, I, I'd still put what the Rockets have done and I would put OKC above them. Do you put Denver above them? Minnesota, do you put them above them as well? But I, I, I think the Lakers will be better because Luca will be better. Now, are you a championship caliber team? No, no. But I don't know what else could have been done here. LeBron wants to stay, wants to play with his son another year and after that, I mean this feels like this is his last year. Because if I'm the Lakers, I gotta move on eventually. As much as I love having him There I have my next generational star for you to come out and see. We had that with LeBron for eight years. Now we're moving on and we're gonna utilize him. And then after that we, we have to move on because we can take that $52 million and we can use it elsewhere.
Seton O'Connor
Yeah, Paulie, but the Lakers historically are not like other franchises that move on from their superstars. They keep them to the very, very end. Kareem Abdul Jabbar, his last few years, he was a Laker. He didn't finish in Seattle. Kobe Bryant, they weren't making the playoffs, but they didn't.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but Kareem was surrounded still by talented players. Kobe was there for the last two years, so you could come out and see Kobe because that wasn't a good team. The Lakers are a good team. LeBron's on a good team.
Seton O'Connor
But I wonder if they manage their team a little differently by being in Los Angeles. And I'm answ my own question is that they know that star power for them is as important as being a competitive franchise. And they could do both with Luke and LeBron. But like they don't move on from their high end players early like some other franchises do.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I think with that price tag with LeBron moving on to make it Lucas team with Kobe, you were coming out to see Kobe. I don't think that there was, you know, they weren't hiding that fact. That wasn't a good team. Yeah.
Unknown Caller
More so LeBron's a free agent going into, not this coming season, but the season after. If you're the Lakers, do you just tell Rich Paul, now this is going to be it for us, you know, with this partnership right here and just rip the band aid off instead of, oh, what about next year? Are you going to resign? And all these questions going into the.
Dan Patrick
I don't, I don't want those questions now. I don't want that conversation now. Let's just get through this season, see what happens.
Unknown Caller
But those questions are still going to be.
Dan Patrick
And I'll get to them. But I don't want him now. Let me wait. It's like with Aaron Rodgers, if Aaron Rodgers plays well, if the Steelers, let's say, go to the conference title game, let's just say, is Aaron Rodgers walking away now? He, he still might. But the questions, if they're playing really well, will start around week 15 or 16. Aaron, have you given any thought to maybe coming back one more year? That's going to happen. But he announces that early. Just so he doesn't deal with that. You know, at least for the first 12, 13, 14 weeks. You know, as I said, you know, start of the year or the season, you know, this is my last year now reporters are going to go, what could change? Nothing could change right now. You know, I'm excited we're going to go into the postseason. What if you end up going to the Super Bowl? Would you come back? Like they're going to have those questions for him. You just don't want to be answering those Questions in week one or LeBron James questions in training camp, even though they're going to be there. LeBron is this year, last year with the Lakers. He might say, well, it's not up to me. Yeah.
Unknown Caller
Marv is the best case scenario. LeBron just saying, you know, media day in September. This is my last year and I'm just going to do a retire, a farewell tour.
Dan Patrick
But I don't know if it is his last year.
Unknown Caller
Oh, I don't either. But I'm saying if that's the best case scenario for the Lakers, like one lesson we have to deal with going into next summer and this could just be Lucas team.
Dan Patrick
But I don't know if LeBron cares about best case scenario for the Lakers so they don't have to deal with this.
Unknown Caller
Oh, I know that, but I was just saying.
Dan Patrick
I don't, I don't. Once again, I don't know LeBron in his passive aggressive ways. What he feels playing past this. Does he want to play with his other son who's what, going to be a freshman at the University of Arizona? Yes.
Unknown Caller
I kind of feel like too we might be. I'm probably wrong about this, but overestimating the length of Luca and building towards the future. You're building towards the future, but it's probably only for a few years.
Dan Patrick
Well, you probably have five years maybe like he's 26.
Unknown Caller
He's 26. Yeah.
Dan Patrick
See that's his prime window is coming up.
Unknown Caller
Yeah. So you don't have like all of this time to build for the future because Lucas future is sort of happening right now.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Unknown Caller
Too. Just like LeBron's.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. What's like, you know, Victor Wembanyama. You can look at that and extrapolate and go, we got a decade window here.
Unknown Caller
Right.
Dan Patrick
Cooper flag. We got time to build. You know, Luke has been in the league, been doing NBA finals now. And, and look, when LeBron says, Hey, I want to win now, or Rich Paul says I want to win now, I believe the Lakers do want to win now. But I also think they are going to need LeBron's salary to be able to make them maybe a better team, an all around team, a deeper team. Yes.
Unknown Caller
There's definitely health concerns and fitness concerns with Luca that have been addressed, whether indirectly or directly. That to me play a role in that.
Dan Patrick
But the report, early reports are he is in the best shape that he's been in in years. So that makes you a better team. Already. He's taking it serious to, to make this a championship caliber team. Yes. Yes, Marvin, I'm with you.
Unknown Caller
I think they're going all in. So I just don't understand why Rich Paul would say that. Because the Lakers to me are the last franchise in the NBA where you're thinking, oh, they're just going to take a year off.
Dan Patrick
Let's take a break. There's more to the Steelers, Dolphins trade and you know, the Jalen Ramsey trade to the Steelers. Somebody's going to the Dolphins. We'll take a break. We're back after this. Dan Patrick
Listen to the American west with Dan Flores on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. By NFL trade standards, this is a big deal. The Dolphins sent Jalen Ramsey tight end John who Smith, who was a Pro Bowler I think last year, a seventh round pick in 2027 to Pittsburgh in exchange for Minka Fitzpatrick who plays safety and a 2027 fifth round draft pick. Getting John who Smith is a big deal. You give Aaron Rodgers another target there. I don't know what Jalen Ramsey has left. You also get a seventh round pick Minka, Fitzpatrick. If I'm T.J. watt now, I know the Steelers are all, all, all in and I'm gonna get my $40 million a year. Yes. Paulie.
Seton O'Connor
John who Smith has bounced around the league. He was in Tennessee, New England, but last year, Miami, at age 29, 88 catches, almost 1,000 yards, eight touchdowns under contract.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I'll sign up for that. That's nice. Yeah.
Seton O'Connor
Paulie, and the Steelers, I'm looking at their depth chart. They add DK Metcalf, they had John who Smith. They, the running backs. They're not spending on running backs. They're not really spending on Rogers. They're pretty, pretty, pretty good shape financially.
Dan Patrick
They're going to spend a lot on T.J. watt, though.
Seton O'Connor
Yeah.
Unknown Caller
Yes.
Dan Patrick
It's going to cost him at least 40 million a year. But you know, Rogers, that's a team friendly deal. Who else makes a lot of money on that team? Cam Hayward. That's pretty good. All right, let's see Sebastian in Utah. Hi, Sebastian. What's on your mind today, Dan? What's up, fellas? Hey, appreciate you guys.
Seton O'Connor
Thanks for taking my call.
Dan Patrick
Best and worst of the week.
Seton O'Connor
I'm sorry to kick a dead horse here, but best is Ace Bailey's in town.
Dan Patrick
We love to see it. The worst is the freaking Media, Dan.
Seton O'Connor
He's 18 years old.
Dan Patrick
Who cares if we don't have nightlife here? He can't do anything anyways. We got plenty of arcades for him. I don't know why he may not have wanted to go to Salt Lake. I can tell you that. When Utah was in the NBA Finals, I had a wonderful time there. I had a wonderful time. Great people. You can find what you want to find just about anywhere. Just saying.
Unknown Caller
Yes, Marvin, but NBA 18. It's not our 18. No, he's, he's Ace Bailey. So he can get in any club he needs to get into in any city. Yeah, it's not. That's not our 18.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Or maybe you wait until you get on the road if you want to go out. Well, but. Yeah, I don't know. Is that what the media is saying? That there's no nightlife there for Ace Bailey and Salt Lake and that's why, that's why he didn't want to go. Okay. I just don't know if this helped. I know that you're trying to steer him and trying to get him to the right places. I just, I believe in karma, you know, like go through the, the workouts, go through. Maybe you, you find something. Maybe you click with somebody, you didn't think maybe you like a city more than you thought that. I don't know. I just having a myopic view and saying, these are the places I want to go. I get it. If you have the power and you want to do it and you can take the backlash of social media, fine. I. But. But you have to tell your client, hey, this is what's going to happen. Are you ready for this? And I don't know if at 18 years of age or 19 years of age, you go, yeah, I can deal with that. I'll just turn off my social media.
Seton O'Connor
Yeah, Paulie, I think what you mentioned about social media is the killer. I don't. It's hard to picture an Eli Manning happening today where his father and his agent work it quietly before the draft. It would never be quiet in this era of all this reporting.
Dan Patrick
PJ in Atlanta. Hi, PJ. Hey, buddy. Hey. Yeah. 5 11A Tennessee 170. Yeah. Ace Bailey needs to grind on Ricky Green and Adrian Dantley. Highlights look. Best of the weekend. Roger Maltby standing up to Patty. He doesn't have to find his ball. He's part of the media burns of the week. And Patty Warren. All right. Yeah. Padraig Harrington had some words with Roger Maltby with NBC. He was the course reporter and he accused or said Roger Maltby should have been helping somebody find their ball. And Roger Maltby's a former player said, not my job to help find a golf ball. And I don't know if it's against the rules for a reporter to do that. You'll see reporters who will help out. But Roger Maltby said to Patrick Harrington, hey, it's not my job. And it looked like they were gonna like, go to go to blows there, like an old guy fight there. You don't want to mess with Roger Maltby. No, you don't. Mike in Wisconsin. Hi, Mike. What's on your mind today? Morning, fellas. Just wanted to propose a new award for you guys to hand out. You guys do the most valuable backroom guy, Most valuable Danette. What about the most valuable Dan Patrick show contributing State? That'd be the MV dps. Yes. You could base it on caller contributions or experiences from when you guys take the show on the road. I think Wisconsin and Iowa are leading the way right now. Well, Wisconsin showed out certainly at the draft. That was great. Hopefully we get to Iowa. We're going to Lake Tahoe. We're going to be out there. What is it Next week?
Seton O'Connor
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Is it a week from today? We're flying in. Does that sound right?

Yeah, I think we're. We're flying on Monday, getting set up on Tuesday, doing Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Yeah. And then going to Notre Dame. Usc. We gotta get that situated where we're going to be set up there. Notre Dame people have been great helping us, but we'll give you all the details whenever we get them. So it takes a little bit of time. This isn't just where you pick up and you go. There's a lot involved with this and because we want to make sure the show looks. Looks great as well as. Sounds great because Peacock is our streaming partner, so it's a TV show as well. But the big German, that's his job now. He goes on the road and he will set this up and we'll make sure we let you know everything about it. And if you can come and visit us, we'll let you know as well. Yes, Paulie.
Seton O'Connor
The American Century, the golf tournament out there at Tahoe. Steph Curry takes that real seriously. Like, he's. He's a legit golfer. Yeah, he won it a couple years ago.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Yeah. No, he's really good. I'm not surprised. I don't know if Mahomes is going to be there. He's got a lot of little ones at home. I think that might be. You're going to stay at my homes? Yeah. Okay. All right. Travis Kelsey, I think is going to be there. Aaron Rodgers, I believe, is going to be there. A rod if Travis is there. Taylor's gonna be in there.
Todd Fritz
T swizzle.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Unknown Caller
I heard she's always wanted to go to a celebrity pro am in Lake Tahoe. It's like, real on the bucket list.
Dan Patrick
She attended tight end university and performed there at tight end University. Andy in Rhode Island. Hi, Andy. What's on your mind today? Good morning, Dan. What's up, Dan? I am fired up like my mom's Traeger and I'm just gonna get right to it. My best and worst for the weekend. Your favorite, Harry Kane with two goals, Flamingo. And the worst, underwhelmingly, Inter Miami got manhandled by psg. Like they took him to the woodshed. And for all the Ronaldo haters. Come on, look at Messi. What did he do? I'm waiting. I'm still waiting, Dan. Those teams are a lot different in talent level. I Would say yes. Eaton.
Unknown Caller
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Unknown Caller
I like Andy. And he gets it. And he gets it. That's a good take.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Ronaldo the goat. He is he.
Unknown Caller
I don't know. That's the big debate.
Dan Patrick
If he wins another World cup, he'll.
Unknown Caller
Well, Ronaldo has to win. Ah, World Cup. That's the big thing that's splitting him and Messi. Is that Messi won a World cup.
Dan Patrick
But if he does. Yes.
Unknown Caller
Marvin, in basketball terms, is this LeBron versus Durant? As far as Messi versus Ronaldo or Curry? LeBron.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Marvin told me Kevin Durant's going to be on LeBron James podcast. Sick. Do you think this is a random thought? Do you think Kevin Durant thinks he's better than LeBron James?
Unknown Caller
Yes.
Dan Patrick
Yes. Yeah, Paul.
Seton O'Connor
No doubt.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Seton O'Connor
He can't answer it in that fashion, but no doubt he thinks it.
Dan Patrick
If I'm LeBron, I would ask KD.
Unknown Caller
You think you're better than me?
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Seton O'Connor
How do you phrase it? Just like that.
Dan Patrick
Just like that.
Unknown Caller
Well, it's a yes, no answer. So you have to say, why? Do you think you're better than me?
Dan Patrick
Yes. If he says yes. And then I would say, why? Damn, that would be good.
Unknown Caller
Think you're better than me?
Dan Patrick
Do you think Steph Curry thinks he's better than LeBron?
Unknown Caller
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Unknown Caller
Yes.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Seton O'Connor
Paul, you asked Steph Curry on this show right before the season. He won his first mvp. Who do you think is the best offensive basketball player in the league? He goes, me.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. And he.
Seton O'Connor
It was the biggest story for a week. You have to think that way.
Unknown Caller
I think Draymond Green believes he's better than LeBron James. There's a lot of dudes that are like, yes, Todd, I'm better than that.
Todd Fritz
We've had several guests give that same Pat answer that Paulie was just saying. You have to have that mindset. This way, you're not making it that I'm better than you. I think I'm better than everybody because that's the way psychologically, I have to, you know, attack the sport being better than everyone.
Dan Patrick
No, but you have to be realistic. You have to. You do. Bryce Young. If I said, are you better than Patrick Mahomes? Is not going to say yes. Right. He's not like, there. There has to be reality with this. Do I think Durant thinks he's better than LeBron? Yeah, I could see that. Steph, he might say, I'm a better offensive player. He's not a better player. We know that. Does James Harden think He's better than LeBron James, Marvin.
Unknown Caller
Yes.
Dan Patrick
Really?
Unknown Caller
Yes. When you're at that level. Yes. Yes.
Dan Patrick
There's some delusional dudes out there.
Unknown Caller
Because you know what? When they say the term a lot of basketball guys uses, roll the ball out. Just roll the ball out.
Dan Patrick
Do you think Kawhi thinks he's better than LeBron?
Unknown Caller
Yes.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Unknown Caller
When you're at that level, those guys have to think that way.
Paul George doesn't, though. Paul George is like, yeah, no, he's better than me. That's okay, though.
Dan Patrick
Slightly. Just slightly better.
Unknown Caller
He doesn't.
Dan Patrick
If I was healthier. If I was. If I was healthier. Yeah.
Unknown Caller
I don't know. Maybe he's definitely better than me, though.
Dan Patrick
I would. I'd love for LeBron to say to D, you think you're better than me? And then he'd say, yeah. Then I'd say, why? Dang, that'd be good. What do you think, Mar?
Unknown Caller
And I think also head to head, Katie's beaten LeBron twice in the NBA Finals.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Unknown Caller
Lost to him once, but he's beat him twice.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Just throwing that out there. Trying to make a good podcast for somebody. Yeah.
Unknown Caller
Mark, any other questions you want LeBron to ask Katie?
Dan Patrick
Who do you think is better than me? Have him name some other players. I don't know why I'm fixated on that, but I am. I just think that'd be great.
Unknown Caller
Katie, thanks for sitting down. Let's talk about me. Who else do you think is better than me? Do you think anybody's better than me? What about me?
Dan Patrick
You could say that, you know, if you got around to, like, legacies and rankings and. And then you say to kd, who do you think? What active player is better, better than me? And see what he says. That way, he doesn't go well. You know, I would give Mike, you know, just a little bit of an edge on you. Cameron in Indiana. Hi, Cameron. What's on your mind today? No, hey, man, I finally worked up the courage to muster up and eat some krill. You were right. I was wrong about the Pacers. That's why you're the King and I'm not. Thank you, Cameron. Not sure what I said, other than I thought they were going to win this series, but thank you for the phone call. Let's see. Zach and Knoxville. Hey, look who's back. It's Zach and Knoxville. Oh, hey, D.P. thanks for squeezing me in with all those guests you've had booked today.
Unknown Caller
I just wanted to comment on the.
Dan Patrick
Passing of Dave Parker. I'm a big Cardinals fan.
Unknown Caller
Actually went to a make a wish trip in 98 when he was the.
Dan Patrick
Heading coach, and he was really generous.
Unknown Caller
With his time, meeting and talking to my whole family. And I have a program that he signed that I want to send in to you if I can.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Unknown Caller
Somewhere in the man cave.
Dan Patrick
Okay, that'd be nice. Thank you. Zach. There, there's a few guys that, when they came to the plate, that probably made you nervous. I mean, Jim Rice is one of those guys. When he came to the plate, it's like, yeah, this can't be good. Frank Howard was, he was 6, 7, meaning back then nobody was 6, 7. You know, a big guy in baseball was 6, 3, 2, 25. But he was, but he wasn't a great player. But when he hit a home run, like he hit 450 foot bombs. But, you know, Dave Parker got to the plate and all of a sudden, you know, that's. If I'm a pitcher Now, I'm taking inventory here of making sure I don't lose a limb, but there's, there's a few. Albert Bell had a run where Albert Bell, when he came to the plate, you know, these guys looked like they were football players. There was that intimidation factor. Every time Willie Stargill would start his, you know, he'd wind up with his bat and you were like, oh, boy. Willie McCovey was another one. If you're of a certain generation, when he came to the plate, it was like, gosh, like the first baseman, I, I, I'm gonna say prayers for you. My sympathies to that first baseman. Certain guys that they just had and, and I'm, you know, their baseball's littered with some of these guys, but those come to mind. Jim Rice and Dave Parker were two guys, one right handed, one left handed batter. They came to the plate. Their intention was to do some damage. All right, we'll take a break. Last call for phone calls. I know a lot of cops and they get asked all the time, have you ever had to shoot your gun? Sometimes the answer is yes. But there's a company dedicated to a future where the answer will always be no.
Dan Patrick
Across the country, cops called this Taser the Revolution.
Marvin Harrison
But not everyone was convinced it was that simple.
Dan Flores
Cops believed everything that Taser told them.

James Harden resigns, renews with the Clippers two year deal. A little over $40 million. Okay, he's 36 and and they're nice numbers that he put up. He did a great job the first half of the season when they didn't have Kawhi. But, you know, if you're gonna give me 23 and nine, all right, I'm fine with that. Like, I don't know what 40 million gets you anymore, but. All right, got James Harden at age 36 and 37 and 38. Yeah. Paul.
Seton O'Connor
We talk about guys whose careers are going to be hard to quantify when they're done. He might be a one seed.
Dan Patrick
He was must see TV for about four years for me. He was unstoppable. And I mean, guys talk about his size, like how solid he is. And Luke is this way too, that they're just, they're, they're inviting contact because you'll bounce off them, not the other way around. So they, they can get in the lane and they can create separation because they, they use that their body. They, they like the contact. Yes. Mark.
Unknown Caller
Had James Harden stayed in Oklahoma City, he'd have Klay Thompson's career. Six time All Star, two rings. He'd be known as a winner.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Would they be a winner if he stayed there? Yeah.
Unknown Caller
Young Thunder team got to the finals, I think they would have pulled at least one out.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Okay, fair enough. I'm trying to watch this show called Waterfront. It's on Netflix, four episodes in and it's like their number one show. So now I'm there, now I'm in too far, so now I have to watch it. I just. You can't help but watch these. And it feels like they want to be Ozark, but nobody's going to be Ozark. So I'm watching it, but I'm like, ah. And then I'm kind of sorting through and my wife goes, you want to go to the movies and see something really scary? I don't know what that movie is, but I go, no, it's like apocalyptic. And I go, no, I'll go see the Brad Pitt movie in the theaters. Yes.
Todd Fritz
Like 28 years later.
Dan Patrick
Is that what. Oh, is that? I don't know.
Todd Fritz
That's a real spooky looking one.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. She asked me that, hey, do you want to go see a scary movie? I said, no, it's apocalyptic. No. And so I said, I'll go see Brad Pitt. Just see it in the movie theater. So I might do that. Yeah. Paulie.
Seton O'Connor
I saw two different movies this weekend. They've already been out, but I caught up on them. Last Breath with Woody Harrelson about a deep sea diver Incident.
Dan Patrick
I saw that one in the theater.
Seton O'Connor
That's pretty good, right? Yeah, that was really good. Not great, but really good.
Dan Patrick
But he's not like. He's not really involved in it as much like he's not diving.
Seton O'Connor
No, he's like the.
Dan Patrick
The. The boss of this last dive. Yes, his last dive. And they're in the North Sea and. Yeah, good stuff.
Seton O'Connor
Yeah, my wife was really tense. The other one I saw this weekend, the Beekeeper with Jason Statham.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Seton O'Connor
You saw that one?
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Seton O'Connor
That's some wild violence.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Seton O'Connor
Even for a Statham movie.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, he's. He's a beekeeper, Bo. But he is keeping some secrets. He. He's. He has mastered those kind of movies where, you know, like, who is. Who's the guy who's gonna hunt you down and he's going to kill you? Liam Neeson. Liam Neeson has his movies now. Denzel has the Equalizer, and it feels like Statham has his. These are my movies. This is how much it costs. This is how much we're gonna make. And they do it again. There'll be another beekeeper, probably beekeeper too. Probably.
Seton O'Connor
Don't tease me.
Dan Patrick
Just to answer all the questions that were left unanswered in Beekeeper. Jason Statham, though, he knows what he's doing.
Unknown Caller
Your friendly neighborhood beekeeper who's also a trained assassin.
Dan Patrick
Yes, that's exactly the. That's what it is.
Seton O'Connor
Exactly.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Seton O'Connor
That's the exact summary of the movie.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Yeah, yeah. That sounds great. Yeah. Well, you know, if you like the. I. There are times when you just want a movie where you go, just entertain me, please. I gotta. I don't want to be thinking and just. Just entertainment. Yeah.
Seton O'Connor
The first death in the movie is like four minutes. There's almost no ramp up of plot. And I loved it.
Dan Patrick
Well, what was the movie he just put out where he was a worker.
Unknown Caller
Working Man.
Dan Patrick
Working Man, I think. Yeah. Yeah.
Seton O'Connor
Oh, and he just a budsman.
Dan Patrick
He does.
Unknown Caller
He's a guy who goes to his average everyday job, is also a trained killer.
Dan Patrick
Yes, got it. But he's trying to leave that past in the past. He doesn't want to be that. He don't want to do that anymore. But then he's forced to when the daughter of his boss is kidnapped. The working man, Jason Statham.
Unknown Caller
I recommend you don't do that.
Dan Patrick
Time to punch in, if you know what I mean. This day in sports history. Paulie.
Seton O'Connor
The movie's actually called A Working Man.
Dan Patrick
Yes, but.
Seton O'Connor
You're joking.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Seton O'Connor
Yeah, I saw that this day in sports history.
Dan Patrick
Oh, please.
Seton O'Connor
The LA Dodgers pitcher Sandy Koufax in 1962 through his first career no hitter against the Mets. And oh, this is sad. 1994, the U. S figure Skating association stripped Tanya Harding of the national championship. 1994.
Dan Patrick
I'm not gonna make a skeptical of my box.
Todd Fritz
Fabulous.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. On this date, the Magic select Chris Weber with the first pick and then trade him to Golden State for Penny Hardaway and three future first round picks. What do those picks turn into? I'll stall Paulie while you look and see who those picks turned into. Because Weber and Penny who had a better NBA career. C Webb played longer and he got three first round picks. All right. Yes.
Seton O'Connor
Pauling traded for Anthony Hardaway. Those first round picks turned into Todd Fuller. The NC State. Yeah, one of them turned into after it was traded Vince Carter. Oh gosh. And the other was used for Mike Miller.
Dan Patrick
Sharpshooter, Florida, Florida Gator. Mike Miller won a title with LeBron, didn't he? Yeah, he could shoot. You shoot a little bit shooter. Yeah. So nice day for the Steelers. They get Jalen Ramsey and they get John who Smith, a tight end who had 80 plus catches, nearly a thousand yards and eight touchdowns last year. And Minka Fitzpatrick is on the move going to Miami. Todd, what'd you learn today?
Todd Fritz
David Purdon who covers the gambling industry for ESPN says prop bets definitely a concern and that a player can more easily manipulate overs and unders.
Dan Patrick
Satan.
Unknown Caller
Steelers made some moves.
Marvin, your best present wasn't for you.
