Mandy Money
Let me update you.
Dan Patrick
We got a couple of them running.
Mandy Money
Anyways, anyways, who's your favorite right now in the NFC today? Buccaneers?
Dan Patrick
Eagles?
Mandy Money
Lions?
Pat Welter
Other.
Mandy Money
Right now, the Lions running away with that one 57% of that vote. Eagles are down to 4.7.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, yeah. Something's up, something's off. You saw that last night. We've seen that so far this season. Yeah. See doesn't it feel like we kind.
Mandy Money
Of do this every mid season with the Eagles? Something's going on with Syria.
Dan Patrick
Something's going on with.
Mandy Money
I don't seem happy. What's going on there with that. It seems every year this is a thing that happens until they, you know, get into the playoffs or something.
Dan Patrick
Well, but a couple of years ago we were talking about is he going to get fired?
Mandy Money
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Nobody's saying is he going to get fired? But this could be the down year. They had the following after they won the super bowl. But it just, I don't know, there just feels like what, what style are you going to play? You're going to run the football, you're going to pass. Is it going to be kind of a hybrid? Nick Sirianni, Is he too predictable? You know, Jalen hurts if you're going to ask him to throw and win a game. Can you Saquon Barkley didn't run last night in the second half. Yeah.
Paulie
Paul, no one's really talked about the Eagles defense this time. Last year the Eagles had the seventh ranked offense in football. This year they're 17th. So you dropped 10 spots last year at this time they had the number one defense in the NFL. Now it's 20th. That's a big drop.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Pat Welter
Marvin, if you're Nick Sirianni, I don't think you can afford a down year. Especially what this is probably the most talented roster in the NFL and he almost got fired a couple of years ago when he fired the, the oc, the ac, the dc, everyone. So he can't afford a down year. He's lucky he won the super bowl last year. Like oh, you know what this buys me a year. Yeah, but so he can't afford one.
Dan Patrick
I don't know if the Giants are any good but they, they're leading the league in swag, that's for sure. With Jackson Darth Cam, Scatter Boo not afraid to celebrate a little bit. And that was a big win last night. And. And they were the better team. And Jackson Dart, I. I like that he extends plays. I don't want him to be a tough guy, but, you know, sometimes you get caught up. He's 22 years of age, and you get caught up. The emotion part of that. Scatter Boo is not afraid. The defense is pretty good, and maybe they can be a spoiler and maybe that coaching staff can keep their jobs. Keeping their jobs. Coaching staffs. We make the segue into the situation with Bill Belichick at North Carolina. Pat Welter has done a wonderful job. He's all over this story. He's a sports anchor, W R A L TV in Raleigh, North Carolina. Pat, how would you sum up what's happened the last couple of days here with Bill Belichick and North Carolina football?
Pat Welter
Yeah, Dan, it's an honor to be on with you guys today. Happy birthday to Todd Fritz. And it's been a whirlwind. You know, I felt like we were ready to break this story as recently as. As Friday, Dan, before the Clemson game. And we made a decision to. To wait a couple more days. And I think that was instrumental in allowing our reporting to kind of start the avalanche of information that's come out. You know, I was able to speak to a lot of sources at the Clemson game, and that's when I really knew I had something, Dan, was when there was sources I've had relationships with for years on this story. But when I was just walking around meeting people with direct knowledge of the program that I had no relationship with, and they were immediately volunteering information to me, things like from a parent. My son has no idea what's going on. It is a complete message. So that's what we've reported, and we're seeing the fallout of it since. And we're seeing UNC direct make direct action after some of the things that have come out.
Dan Patrick
Okay, but where are we today with this story?
Pat Welter
So yesterday, kind of the development was we're coming off the statement, right? We have this statement that comes out late the night prior, and it's very brief. And it comes from Bubba Cunningham, and it comes from Bill Belichick, basically saying Belichick committed to UNC football and UNC athletics is committed to him. And this was on the heels and based on conversations I had yesterday with sources, multiple levels, UNC decision makers, they wanted to call him the noise. They wanted to call them what they referred to as rumors. And those rumors were related to 247 tar heel sports Report about there being exit strategy conversations and other reports of Bill Belichick looking into triggering his own contract. Now, I spent basically all day on the phones trying to run this down, and I think it's clear. I think it's important to note that I was told by multiple levels of UNC decision makers and my colleague Brian Murphy that there were no exit strategy conversations, that there were no conversations of Bill triggering his own buyout. But I have to acknowledge, right, that that does not mean necessarily that that did not happen. Like, I'm not in those rooms. These are what these people are telling me. They're all telling me the same thing. So there's an obligation, I think, to report it in fairness. But I think you also have to acknowledge there's a gap there. We can only know so much, and I respect Andrew Jones, who had that report. So I think you have to just take the information and sort it out with what you know and what you want to believe.
Dan Patrick
Is Bill Belichick coaching North Carolina against Cal a week from Saturday?
Pat Welter
I can't tell you. I can't tell you. I just know that this is escalated day by day. And I would say hour by hour, to be quite literally, Dan, minute by minute. I'll tell you. This morning, I sent an email to UNC Athletics trying to get confirmation of a player to see if he was still with the program. An hour later, the player I asked about has a graphic ready to go on social media. This just broke from running back Caleb Hood. After much thought, prayer, and discussion with my family, I've decided to retire from football. My journey at UNC has been special, and I appreciate my time here. You can look on. On social media if you want to see that full statement. That is the player I asked about because of a tip that I got there. Ironic in a way, Dan, because this season, if you remember that first game versus tcu, there was that one moment where everyone. All the hype, all the buzz, which was so real, right? This was incredible. Carolina drives down their first possession of the season. Caleb Hood scores the touchdown. The place goes bonkers. Skip Bayless had some tweet about it being amazing. I know. I. I was like, this guy's Nick Saban. I'm like, he's gonna do it. They're doing it, you know, and it has been downhill ever since. And it's. It's fitting poetry that I think now Caleb Hood, after this week, is leaving the program. And obviously, I'M going to look into more as to why, but I think just kind of that paints a picture for you where we're at.
Dan Patrick
I don't know what role the media played in this, the national media, in hyping this up. It's Belichick, it's North Carolina, it's the acc, it's not the SEC or the Big Ten. Certainly can win more than Mack Brown does. When Mack would win six games, occasionally he'd win, you know, a few more and go to a bowl game there. But I locally, did you guys have the same expectations as maybe the national media had on Bill Belichick?
Pat Welter
Yeah, we're. We're all complicit in this in a way. Right. And I really don't fault. My point of my story was never to fault the people that decided to hire Bill Belichick. I think you could certainly make an argument they should have vetted this more. Right. Because they have access to that information that nobody else has during their hiring process. But, yeah, I think we were all part of the hype, you know, and how could you not be? This is an incredible story. This is the story of my lifetime. It's certainly the biggest thing I've ever covered. And I grew up in New England. I'm From Londonderry, N.H. as a student at Emerson College, I got to go to the super bowl versus the Giants. I asked Bill Belichick a question at the super bowl, and then for me to come to Carolina and then for him to end up here. And I'm covering him. Breaking news about his hiring process after Mac Brown was fired around Thanksgiving, which is really when this all started for me. It's been a trip. So I think, you know, I've tried to just kind of. I tell people I'm trying to bring the same energy and the same passion and same disciplined reporting that I did to the hiring process, that I did to the excitement into the fun. And what I'm doing right now to, I guess if you want to call it downfall, but there's no, there's no agenda here. I'm just trying to tell people what I know. I've been covering this team for four plus years. I know a lot of people and people are very, very upset. And when you look at the results on the field, when you're going to be the highest paid employee in the state and you're going to be one of the worst teams in all of college football, that's not me saying that, Dan. That is statistical fact, completely uncompetitive. In Power 4 games, 120 to 33 is the scoring differential. People deserve to know what's going on and why. And I think our reporting has shed a light on that.
Dan Patrick
If I gave athletic department a do over and you keep Mack Brown, what would they do?
Pat Welter
I think, Mac, I think really it's diametric, right? The difference between Mack Brown and Bill Belichick. And in some ways, that's what they were seeking because, you know, Matt Brown came here, second stint in Chapel Hill, so respected national champion University of Texas, has had some of the best seasons Carolina football has ever seen. Means a lot to the state, means a lot to this community. And he treated people as such, and he welcomed the media as such. But I think if you were going to criticize him, you look at the downfall of Matt Brown was James Madison last year where they gave up 70 points, inexplicable. Then they go on the road, lose the Boston College, and if I'm allowed to say, a kind of uninspired performance at a minimum. And that was the nail in the coffin for Mack Brown and his time here. And it was. It was honestly probably time to move on. They had tapped out. So what they wanted to do was take another step. Everybody knows, like, in the world of conference realignment, you have to be all in on football. You can't be just a basketball school. So everything for Carolina was well intentioned in bringing Bill Belichick in. It just has gone spectacularly wrong in ways that I don't know that anyone really could have foreseen.
Dan Patrick
Does Belichick have any media availability coming up aside from game days?
Pat Welter
Yeah, it's been both convenient for him and maybe convenient for us reporting on this as well, that this came as a bye week and it was a bye week before Clemson as well. And I think that's allowed me to do a lot of work because, like, I. I've been working on this since the spring, Dan. Like, that's when the tip came in. And I've been just running this down until I thought I had it. He has a media availability on Monday. I'm gonna go. That's gonna be an interesting experience for me. I'm certainly gonna try to ask a question. You know, I've been coordinating with unc, trying to work with them throughout this. When I have information, I'm not breaking it until I run it by them for a chance to respond. And. And we're working on that right now. We have a story that we were ready to break yesterday. And just to give you an example of how strange this is. Dan, I am at the point now where I can't even assume the people I am texting and calling are the people that they say to be. That's all I can say. But at this point now, like I am questioning, like that's the level we are at because inside the building in Carolina, they know there's a leak. They're trying to find it. And I am kind of ears and eyes wide open to really everything and anything at this point. But I could tell you that our reporting directly led to the suspension of assistant football coach Armand Hawkins and our continued prying into that story led to the statement and the official confirmation from UNC on his suspension yesterday afternoon. And there's a key piece in their statement that they say he will remain on leave as the department of athletics further investigates other potential actions detrimental to the team university. Those are what we are looking into. So that's all I can share at this moment. But I think there's more stories to come.
Dan Patrick
Okay, good luck with that. And trust your gut, trust your instincts. But man, you know, nail it down. Yeah, nail it down. Because there, this is serious stuff. But it, hey, that's why we do this. When you get these opportunities, go for it.
Pat Welter
Yes, sir. I appreciate that. And this means a lot being on here with you. You're one of the reasons I do this. So I really appreciate the opportunity.
Dan Patrick
Thank you, Pat. Good luck. That's Pat Welter, WRAL TV Sports Anchor Raleigh, North Carolina. Yeah, all of a sudden you get a tip, then you get in, and then all of a sudden you're in. And then you start to find out more and more and that's when people start questioning your reporting. You know, you're local. Why aren't you on our team? We, why don't you support the team? Like, there's a lot of things that go on when you do local reporting, especially at a university, whether it's a, you know, high end basketball or high end football. Hey, we're all in this together. Why are you, you know, reporting negative stuff? But you got to hold true to what you're doing and hopefully Pat has that opportunity. All right, when we come back, we'll look at some of the matchups here. College football and the NFL. I was curious, the new and maybe improved Bengals going to Green Bay, what was that point spread going to be? Yikes. We'll have that for you coming up next year on the Dan Patrick Show. Be sure to catch the live edition of the Dan Patrick show, weekdays at 9am Eastern, 6am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio.

It may look different, but Native culture is very alive. My name is Nicole Garcia and on Burn Sage, Burn Bridges we aim to explore that culture. It was a huge honor to become a television writer because it does feel oddly like very traditional. It feels like Bob Dylan going electric. That this is something we've been doing for like hundreds of years. You carry with you a sense of purpose and confidence. That's Sierra Teller Ornellis, who with Rutherford Falls became the first Native showrunner in television history. On the podcast Burn Sage Burn Bridges we explore her story along with other Native stories such as the creation of the first Native Comic Con or the importance of reservation basketball. Coming up, we'll tell you the Most Must Win Game of the Weekend we do have a new segment, the ootw the Opportunity of the Week. Who has the best opportunity of the week? Not to be confused with the Most Must Win Game of the Weekend. I'm looking at some of the point spreads here and I was curious about the Bengals against the packers because Joe Flacco's already defeated the packers and now going to Lambeau to try to do double duty. The Bengals are 14 point underdogs and I started to wonder about this. How bad has Jake Browning been that you're going to bring in a 40 year old quarterback from a division rival? You're going to give him two days to prepare with his new team against Green Bay at Green Bay. That says an awful lot about Jake Browning. The Broncos and the jets in London. Broncos are favored by 7 1/2 Patriots on the road against New Orleans. But there's a lot of people that are climbing on the Panthers bandwagon against the Cowboys. Cowboys are favored by three in Carolina. Chargers at the Dolphins. Boy this is cross country tricky. Is that a one o' clock game? See if that's a one o' clock game. But Chargers minus four and a half against the Dolphins.
Paulie
Yeah, that's early.
Dan Patrick
Oh boy. But this feels like last call for the Dolphins. You gotta gotta win this game. The Rams against the Ravens. The Browns are getting six in Pittsburgh. I thought it might be a little bit more than that but Browns with Dylan Gabriel there. Seahawks and Jags. See I love this matchup. Seahawks are favored by one and a half in Jacksonville. Who would have thought that that would be circled on my calendar? The 49ers are getting three in Tampa. I thought it would be a little more than that. And the Lions are getting two and a half against the Chiefs. So those are the NFL games coming up this weekend. Do you want to explain the ootw, Paul? Yes. Opportunity of the week.
Paulie
Yeah, it's pretty complex. Player, coach, team that has an opportunity to make a big jump this weekend or career defining moment, whatever it may be. I'll give you an example. Florida football just had a big win. They're at number five, Texas A&M. Their coach, Billy Napier has been on a perpetual hot seat. He can cool it off real fast this month with a win against A and M. Ootw.
Dan Patrick
Florida is getting seven and a half.
Pat Welter
Yes.
Dan Patrick
In that game. All right, Marvin, do you have an opportunity of the week nominee?
Pat Welter
Indiana football on the road against Oregon. It's not a must win because if they lose, they'll still be good, but this is their opportunity to really put themselves on a national level.
Dan Patrick
All right, Indiana getting seven at Oregon. Oregon number three in the country. IU is number seven. Todd, the opportunity of the week end.
Pat Welter
I was going to go with Indiana, but I'm going to go with the Jacksonville Jaguars to show that not only were they able to beat the Chiefs, that they can take care of the Seahawks back to back. And they are a team to reckon with, not just in the AFC south, but to be considered as one of the top teams in the conference this year.
Dan Patrick
Okay, Jaguars. All right. Then they would improve to 5 and 1. Paulie, your opportunity of the weekend.
Paulie
I did mine. That was my.
Dan Patrick
Oh, I thought you gave me a. For Florida, for instance. I'll stick with. Yeah, okay. Seaton, do you have an opportunity of the weekend game?
Mandy Money
I think Texas has the opportunity to save their season this weekend. So I'm not calling it a must win, but I am saying it's an opportunity to right the ship and get back maybe into playoff discussions.
Dan Patrick
All right, Oklahoma is a one and a half point favorite. Texas, I would probably say usc. The opportunity of the week. Make sure you win this game at home and then you go on the road. You've got Notre Dame the following week and then you'll have Oregon a little bit later on. You got to win this game. If you want to be back in the top 25, top 20, top 15, you got to win this game. And Michigan is getting two and a half at usc. Now let's play the most must win game of the weekend. That would be the MMW Got W. Todd, the most must win game of the weekend is.
Pat Welter
I initially wrote Penn State better beat Northwestern and Happy Valley, but I scratched.
Dan Patrick
That off and I'm going with.
Pat Welter
I know the Rams are team but it's last call for the 1 and 4 Ravens in Baltimore. You cannot fall down the well and be 1 and 5. You better find a way to beat the Rams in Baltimore.
Dan Patrick
All right, Seaton. The most must win game of the weekend.
Mandy Money
I have the Kansas City Chiefs. This is a most must win game against the Lions. Their season is slipping away and they need to right that ship starting with this weekend.
Pat Welter
Marvin, the LA Chargers, they're on a two game losing streak. They have to snap this to stay afloat in the AFC West.
Paulie
Paulie, I'm going with LSU football and specifically Brian Kelly. They're hosting South Carolina this weekend. A feisty team. Then they have Vandy A and M Bama Arkansas, they finish with Oklahoma. It could go bad quickly.
Dan Patrick
South Carolina is getting eight and a half at number 11. LSU. I would say the most must win game of the weekend would be the Buccaneers are at home against the 49ers and the 49ers are only three point underdogs with a banged up roster and you got a backup quarterback. You're going cross country. Tampa Bay. You want to be in the big picture, you got to make sure you handle business here as the most must win game of the weekend.
Paulie
Yes, Paul, how must winish is the Raiders game against the Titans? The Raiders at 1 and 4.
Dan Patrick
Well, I don't and I don't have any sources there with the Raiders that could Pete Carroll not last the season. So I don't, I don't know. I don't know what you know. I mean they shouldn't be this bad. They shouldn't be now. Geno Smith has not played well at all. Ashton Genty still figuring it out. Max Crosby is a wonderful player. Bowers like you, you have talent there. You shouldn't have one win here and be blown out in some of these games. I mean at some point do they go, do we have Pete continue to be our head coach? I mean he's a Hall of Fame coach but I'm always like if you can't play for Pete, he's always enthusiastic, energetic and so it can't be that, you know, they're not inspired here but just feels like they should be a whole lot better. Yes.
Pat Welter
Marvin, is Pete Carroll coaching his way out of the hall of Fame?
Dan Patrick
Have to ask Todd that.
Pat Welter
You know, it's a valid point. And the Raiders better start playing some football.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, you can have one bad year because that's all he's going to get is one bad year. But I don't think he's coaching his way out of the hall of fame. Yes. Yes, Todd.
Pat Welter
The gum is getting very stale for Pete Carroll. Get a couple of wins going, Paul.
Paulie
Or he could be eligible for the hall of fame a year early at this pace, if you don't.
Dan Patrick
Oh, okay. I see what you're doing. All right. So the most must win game of the weekend. James in Texas. Hi, James. What's on your mind today?
Caller
Hey, Dan. Good morning. Love the show. 5 11, 250. Awesome. I just wanted to call in on October birthdays. My wife and I both October birthdays. Mine was yesterday. Hers is today. We both turn. Yeah, no, on 10.
Mandy Money
10. Same month, same day.
Dan Patrick
A lot of birthdays today. Yeah, I know.
Pat Welter
Today it was a. It was just the month of October.
Dan Patrick
To celebrate Dave in San Antonio. Hi, Dave.
Caller
What up, gang? Hey. I just wanted to wish Fritzi a happy birthday. Usually I say suck it, but today is your day.
Dan Patrick
But I wanted to sing him happy.
Caller
Birthday, the black edition. So just bear with me, guys. I want to say happy birthday to you. I want to say.
Dan Patrick
What happened today.
Paulie
What happened today God's fault for being.
Dan Patrick
Born Dave in Texas. Hi, Dave. What's on your mind?
Caller
Hello.
Dan Patrick
Hi, Dave.
Caller
Hi, Dan. I'm Dane from Texas.
Dan Patrick
Oh, hi, Dane. Tyler misspelled your name.
Caller
Oh, no, no. No problem. I wanted to add a suggestion for Dylan and Francie. Maybe they could get together on a cooking show, a video cooking show. But before I. I get into that, while I was on hold, my wife was cleaning upstairs, and she listens to music. And Pat. You were interviewing Pat Welter. And she listened to the eagle's lion eyes, you know, a rich old man, and you won't have to worry. And that.
Dan Patrick
That.
Caller
I think that was a message from the universe. But anyway, I think Fritzi and Dylan could collaborate in a cooking show. Because I can't follow a recipe. I need to see how it's cooked. So if Dylan could teach Fritzi how to cook on video, I think it'd be a good show.
Dan Patrick
All right. Well, thank you, Dane. And I'm not sure the Eagles lion eyes, but did I miss something here? What happened? What happened to the show? It's like the entire radio universe is. It's Fritzy Friday here. Frank in Texas. Hi, Frank. What's on your mind today?
Caller
Hey, good morning, Dan. It's Frankie by the way.
Dan Patrick
Hi, Frankie by the way. My bad.
Caller
It's all good. 5, 7, 3 quarter shout out seating and 199.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Caller
So I wanted to chime in on the Eagles and a little thing about Derek Henry at the end if you have the time. Obviously not too happy about how the game went down last night, but completely understanding why it went down the way it did. Short week injuries and honestly, I got to tip my hat off to Cam Scatterbo and Jackson. Dart Dart looks a lot faster than I thought he was when he was escaping the pocket. And Champ Scatterbo is definitely looking like he's picking up where he left off in college. Hearing it from everybody in my fantasy league, everybody, you know, the Eagles, the Frogs, this and that. I'm not ready to sound the alarm quite yet. You can easily see that Jalen Carter was definitely missed in the Giants game and the Cowboys game. You can see that, you know, the impact that wasn't there when he wasn't there, obviously. And this guy is going to get paid.
Dan Patrick
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. When he's playing. But they ran up the middle with Scatter Boo. And if you have Jalen Carter, that's not happening. AJ In Florida. Hi aj. What's on your mind today?
Caller
Hey, Dan. Hey, Dennis. Gonna try and make this as quick as possible. Kind of a two parter. Just watching the MLB playoffs. You got teams like the Blue Jays, the Brewers, they're really good at like situate situational hitting and avoiding that three true outcome that has like plagued baseball for like last 10 years. And absent of teams like the Dodgers who, you know, can afford and choose to pay to, you know, bring in a really good electric team. Do you think that we'll see more teams return to that form of situational hitting and hitting for average and OBP instead of that 3:2 outcome like the brewers and the Blue Jays.
Dan Patrick
I've been saying it for a couple of years, but I said that about the running back and running game in the NFL that eventually a team would decide, hey, we don't have that kind of quarterback or we don't have those kind of wide receivers. How about we find ourselves a really good offensive line and we control the line of scrimmage and we run the football. That way when you come on the field you have a certain amount of time now that it almost you're speeding up the opposition because they have to make something happen because when you get the ball back, you're going to control the clock. I don't know if it's going to happen anytime soon, but I think some of these teams in these smaller markets trying to get big time stars. I still go back to if you have quality pitching and you have, you know, timely hitting, guys who understand how to put the ball in play and as you said, situational hitting. But I keep being told nobody cares about batting average anymore. And I, you know, I realize that you're going to be swinging for home runs and the number of home runs, it's just the number of at bats other than your home runs. What are you doing? Are you striking out? Are you even putting the ball in play? I still believe that if I put the ball in play and I have base hits and I have a high batting average, I'm putting pressure on you. I would build a team for speed, defense, pitching and you know, half of my games are going to be in my ballpark and I build it, I build a team with my ballpark in mind. That feels like that's a home field advantage, but it feels like everybody is just, hey, let's just throw hard and swing hard. Terry in South Carolina. Hi Terry, what's on your mind?
Caller
Hey Dan, thanks for taking my call. Terry. Six foot two, 220. I was calling to give you my OTW of the week and I believe it's the Dallas Cowboys because they really kind of need to win. Since the Eagles are going the other direction, they can get themselves up there with them.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, with the Eagles down and the Cowboy. But you can't lose this game. You know, as much as the Cowboys, certainly maybe surprise some people offensively don't have CD Lamb back and you're going to Carolina. So they're, they're favored by three and it feels like a lot of people think Carolina is the team to take.
Pat Welter
Yes, Mark, the Steelers are also on that opportunity of the week list to me because they got to beat a bad Browns team right now, their first place in the AFC North. They got to stay afloat.
Dan Patrick
And aren't they only a six point favorite against a Cleveland team that's led by Dylan Gabriel in his second start? Yeah, Paul.
Paulie
Yeah. That's right. And Steelers have Browns this week, Bengals next week. They could put some distance.
Dan Patrick

It may look different, but Native culture is very alive. My name is Nicole Garcia and on Burn Stage Burn Bridges. We aim to explore that culture. It was a huge honor to become a television writer because it does feel oddly like very traditional. It feels like Bob Dylan going electric that this is something we've been doing for like hundreds of years. You carry with you a sense of purpose and confidence. That's Sierra Teller Ornelas, who with Rutherford Falls became the first Native showrunner in television history. On the podcast Burns the Sage Burn Bridges, we explore her story along with other Native stories such as the creation of the first Native Comic Con or the importance of reservation basketball. Every day, Native people are striving to keep traditions alive while navigating the modern world, influencing and bringing our culture into the mainstream. It's about culture and policy and art and expression and how we as humans exist and fit with one another. Alrighty, last call for phone calls. What we learn what's in store for Monday? How about what will the headline be on Monday? You don't have to write the headline. What is going to be the story? What's the lead story on Monday? Todd?
Pat Welter
I think it'll be something Bill Belichick related. Even with all the NFL and the baseball stuff, maybe something comes to a head in the next 48 hours.
Dan Patrick
All right, Seaton, what will be the lead story on Monday?
Mandy Money
I think it's going to be the chiefs dropping to 2 and 4. I think I want to say. Are they 2 and 3 right now? Something like that. Chiefs are losing, though, to the Lions. That's going to be the headline.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Pat Welter
All right, Marvin, The Chiefs, right, the ship with a big win on Sunday night.
Dan Patrick
Okay, ball to the balls. Paulie, what will be the lead story on Monday?
Paulie
I think it's going to be a combo of everyone's going to bail on the Chiefs after the loss on Sunday night. But then there should be a big Baker Mayfield swell as well. Simultaneously swell as well. Baker.
Mandy Money
Baker is swell. That's my headline.
Paulie
Swell as well.
Dan Patrick
I think it's going to be the Chiefs beating the Lions and then people be back on the Chiefs bandwagon. Also, the Chargers situation is kind of interesting as well, though. Cross country lost a couple and you should win the game. But as we often see with teams that you should win the game. The Eagles should have won the game last night. Of course they got blown out. Yeah, Paulie.
Paulie
But it's funny. As the season develops, losses change. Like the Chargers lost to the Giants last week. That loss doesn't look as bad because the Giants just beat the Eagles. It's like college football, the quality losses. Okay, it looks better.
Dan Patrick
Okay. All right. I'll go with you on that. I'll go with you. It's late in the show. I'm gonna go with you on that. Tarek Scubal will go for the Tigers against Seattle. They've already beaten him once. He might be the best pitcher in the game. Can you beat him twice? But if you talk about big game for both of these franchise, but certainly Seattle, because there's been a lot of goodwill built up by Seattle this year. Good team, young team. You got the big dumper who might win the MVP Baseball in Seattle back on a big stage. And you're going against a guy who has some filthy stuff, as they like to say in the business.
Paulie
Yes, Paul, you know what other segment we should do? It maybe is who dodged a bullet or who got the hall pass. Because as great as Shohei Otani is, I think he went 1 for 18 in the NLDS with eight strikeouts. And when you win, it washes away.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, we tend to forget those things now. If they had lost, then that would be an open season on him. It's like with Aaron Judge, you know, last year in the World Series and when you get blown out, then all of a sudden we're like, where were you? You know, you didn't do anything. And the Dodgers are, you know, far more talented to. They can kind of COVID up some of those blemishes.
Paulie
Yeah, Paulie and Aaron Judge, I have him going 9 for 16 with 6 ribies in this playoffs and. But he's out.
Dan Patrick
Oh, yeah. Yeah, they're eliminated. You can't blame him, though. Jared in St. Pete. Hey, Jared. What's on your mind?
Caller
Foot 180. Hey, I have. I've got a question. I was. I was wondering if you could give me some advice. All these talk on classic broadcasters and the voice, each of them has a very unique voice. Now I have to go. I'm an author and I have to go sit in the studio for three days and they've asked me to read my audiobook. I have no idea how to take care of my voice. So I need some advice, Dan. What should I think about what should I do to prep for this? And I'll hang up and listen, but say hey to my dad and thanks for the advice.
Dan Patrick
Well, I would try to do it in smaller increments. When I did audio for my book, I think Marvin and I, we kind of mapped out two hours each day that I was going to do it and. But even then, it's a lot. It's a. It's a stress on your vocal cords. But I would do my best to not be talking a whole lot that week. If you can prevent doing that table with lemon was always good cough drops just to make sure that you're. Because your. Your. Your vocal cords are going to be worked Over. You'll be sore doing it. It doesn't sound like it because you're going to be reading, but you want to read. And then you'll go, okay, let me try it again. And then let me try it again. You're going to do, you know, three or four, five takes, maybe on one page or one paragraph. You got to make sure that you enunciate. Yeah.
Paulie
Paulie, I'm reading an article here that says some singers and on air people like yourselves use like a humidifier that goes right directly to your throat and keeps it soothed.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, yeah. You don't want a dry room. Very important. Gilbert in California. Hi, Gilbert. What's on your mind?
Caller
Not too much. I'm just. Thanks. Thanks for getting my call. First time. I'm 5, 7, 2, 20, unfortunately. But I believe that the. Hopefully the Raiders will show some more talent. They got a lot of injuries. I believe in Pete Carroll. He's got a whole lot of them.
Dan Patrick
You know, Gilbert, next time call in, turn down your radio. Okay. Because you were competing with me and yourself, Jay, in Delaware. Hey, Jay, what's on your mind today?
Caller
Hey, Dan. Happy Friday. I was talking about the best opportunity game of the weekend for me. I feel like it's my Niners, especially after the Eagles lost last night. If we win this game, we're already first in our division and this game could be very important later down in the season after we get healthy. So. Thanks, Dan. Y' all have a great weekend.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, it's a big game. I'm surprised the Niners are only three point underdogs. I had, you know, when you start to look, I thought the Niners were going to be a playoff team, but you have all these injuries and Mac Jones has played really well. But I thought Christian McCaffrey was going to be the offensive player of the year, and he's put up some pretty good numbers there. But going against Tampa Bay like this is a big game for Tampa Bay. Got to win this game. If the Niners happen to win it, I mean, it's huge, but I don't expect them to win it. Alan in New Jersey. Hi, Alan. What's on your mind?
Caller
Hi, Dan. Great, great show. I just started really listening, man. You guys do a great job. I've seen it on and off in Pinesburg. It's really. Yeah. Thank you. Really do a great job. But with this scatter boo, I wish you would just stop doing the flip. Right, Tyler, I think the screener said the coach mentioned it because we know that's not going to end well if he keeps going, especially on that Giant turf.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I, when I saw it and I mean, he is a very animated player and Dart is very animated as well. But they're young, 22, 23 years of age. I can sit here as an old man and go, I don't know if I'd do that, but if I was 22 and I'm scoring touchdowns, then all right. And I had the ability to do those things and. Yeah. All right. Yeah, Paul. Yeah.
Paulie
And the Giants are going to use Skettable. He's got a four year contract. He makes about $1.1 million a year for the next four years, and he can't get out of that. He can't improve it in any way. It's like Isaiah Pacheco with the Chiefs. Use them up.
Dan Patrick
All right, let's go around the room. What we learned on the program. Todd, by the way, meet Friday. Dylan did a wonderful job. That looked great. Todd, what did you Learn today?
Pat Welter
Devin McCourty could sense the tension around the Eagles pregame last night. The Giants seemed a lot more loose.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. He was on the call for Westwood One. He's down on the field and he said that the Giants players, they actually thought, you know, they were going to win. He said he felt like there was some kind of groundswell, that they're, they're ready for this moment. Seaton, what'd you learn?
Mandy Money
We had Dominican roast pork today.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Was it Dominican or Puerto Rican?
Paulie
Checking.
Dan Patrick
Okay, Marvin, everyone's birthday's in October, apparently.
Paulie
Paulie, for me, this is Todd's last birthday.
Dan Patrick
Yes, it is. That we will acknowledge on the air. Love you, Todd. What did I learn?
Pat Welter
Jackson Dark keeps the Giants interesting and relevant. And it doesn't hurt already having beaten Justin, Herbert and Jalen hurts this season.
Dan Patrick
