You could have shown up to game day with a basic seven layer dip, but you didn't. You called an audible and swapped the sour cream layer for Philadelphia Cream Cheese. Now words like creamy and delicious are flying around the room and your dip so good is getting more looks than a top fantasy whiteout. You don't follow a recipe, you philly it whenever you philly like it. Philadelphia Cream Cheese.

Dan Patrick
We don't just love college football, Ty, we live it. You are listening to the Dan Patrick show on Fox Sports Radio. Final hour on this Thursday, ready to go. Thursday Night Football, the season kicks off. It's Eagles, Cowboys. It's presented by YouTube TV, Thursday 7 Eastern on NBC. And Peacock, which is where you'll find this program right now. Thank you for downloading the app. And we say good morning to our radio affiliates around the country. It is time for the fifth annual hot Take Draft. Two from the nfc, two from the afc. These are wild predictions. My super bowl prediction tomorrow. For instance, last year, my NFC hot take was this. I have the Falcons going to the NFC title game.
Todd McShay
That's crazy.
Dan Patrick
Thank you, Tom. They will face, they will face the LA Rams in the NFC title scalding. Here's my AFC hot take last year. So mine in the afc. No, I have to have hot takes here.
Seaton
Yes, you do.
Dan Patrick
The jets will go to the Super Bowl. Aaron Rodgers will win mvp. Whoa. And I wasn't that far off on that one. Very hot, very wrong.
Paulie
That's our motto.
Dan Patrick
Yes, I'm very hot and I'm very wrong. You're a bad boy. Here's Paul's AFC hot take last year.
Paulie
Russell Wilson will start a playoff game for the Steelers. My second hot take is Will Levis of the Titans will win the most improved player in the league award.
Dan Patrick
Okay. All right, you got The Russell Wilson Jr. III. Here's Paul's NFC take last year.
Paulie
Kyler Murray at the Cardinals will start a playoff game. All right, this one you're going to give me a little wiggle room with because this is going to extend into January. February. The Dallas Cowboys will start 2025, the off season, with no head coach and no quarterback under contract.
Dan Patrick
All right, half right. Here's Todd's AFC hot take.
Todd McShay
Perhaps it's wishful thinking on my part, but Bo Nix, who wears number 10, leads the Broncos to 10 wins as Denver participates in a road wild card game. Everyone's got them over under like five and a half or six and a half wins. He gets them to double digit wins as a rookie.
Dan Patrick
I think that's, I'm going to say that's warm. What's your other one?
Todd McShay
After a bad Week 5 loss at home to the Cowboys. Mike Tomlin benches Russell Wilson for Justin Fields that specific game.
Dan Patrick
Pretty good.
Todd McShay
Todd 107 and a loss at the Bills in the first round of the playoffs.
Dan Patrick
Pretty good. But it wasn't hot enough.
Todd McShay
Really.
Dan Patrick
No, correct.
Todd McShay
A lot of people thought the Broncos, they'll win five, six games with this new quarterback if they're lucky.
Dan Patrick
We didn't.
Todd McShay
A lot of the so called experts thought they'd be well below Experts.
Dan Patrick
Here's Todd's NFC Hot Take.
Todd McShay
The New York Football Giants were 6 and 11 in 2023. They finished third in their division and 13th in the conference. Daniel Jones and the G men will regress further, finishing no better than 4:12 and 1. There's your tiebreaker last in the NFC east, one of if not the worst record in the conference in the entire league. And they will desperately miss their services of saquon Barkley.
Dan Patrick
Wow.
Todd McShay
12 and 1.
Dan Patrick
New York Giants once again extremely right. The over under is. It's probably five and a half wins for them. So you have them winning four.
Todd McShay
Marvin, I gotta do my. Do I do a seconder?
Dan Patrick
Oh, you got another one. I'm sorry. That one so hot that I kind of counted as two.
Marvin
All right.
Todd McShay
He rushed for 962 yards with six TDs last season. He'd missed a couple games. But staying with the Saquon Barkley theme, I say he will run for at least 1500 yards and at least 10 touchdowns this season as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Dan Patrick
Okay, man, oh man. How about a victory like, you know what? Put on the hot take already. Yeah, you didn't even just last year, from last year. Put on the hot take necklace there.
Seaton
Kind of like the reigning champ.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, that's pretty good. That was pretty good, Todd. Pretty good. All right, here's Marvin's AFC hot take.
Marvin
Jeffrey Simmons of the Tennessee Titans will win defensive player of the Year.
Dan Patrick
Okay, okay, got my attention.
Marvin
And then the New York jets will go to the AFC Championship game.
Dan Patrick
Okay, here's Marvin's NFC hot take.
Marvin
All right. Sam Darnold will make the Pro Bowl.
Paulie
Ah, game over.
Dan Patrick
Wow.
Marvin
And Raheem Morris will win NFL Coach of the Year.
Dan Patrick
Dang. Those weren't crazy. Those were pretty good. Sam Darnold, Pro Bowler. I don't know where Raheem Morris finished in the Coach of the year. So now that brings us to 2025 hot take. Two from the NFC, two from the AFC. Seton, I got to get to yours first. Seaton's NFC hot take.
Seaton
Marvin, the Dallas Cowboys Will win Super Bowl 59. That's. Me and Paulie are head to head.
Dan Patrick
That is.
Seaton
He's got everybody getting fired. I have them winning.
Dan Patrick
That's hot.
Seaton
And for bonus picks, I have them beating the Cincinnati Bengals.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Your mvp, Joe Burrows.
Seaton
Yeah. And then I have. The Panthers will win the NFC South.
Dan Patrick
Hot and wrong.
Seaton
Hot and wrong.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. But once again, that. That's good content.
Seaton
I feel like I did that well.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. I have no problem with wrong. As long as you're hot. Afc. Do we have that, Marvin? Okay.
Seaton
Joe Burrow will be your mvp and the Colts will make the playoffs.
Dan Patrick
All right, that brings us to 2025.
Seaton
My hot takes for this year are shockingly similar.
Dan Patrick
Todd. Two from the NFC and then we'll come back around. And then two from the afc.
Todd McShay
My NFC first one. After dropping their first four games of the season to the Commanders, Cowboys, Chiefs and Chargers and not being particularly competitive in any of Giants head coach Brian Dabel decides to bench Russell Wilson. Jackson Dart gets the nod for Week 5 at the Saints, a game the Giants will also lose with a new QB under center. That's one of them. And my other nfc, after you received some blowback from who Dat Nation for showing no love to their team, the Saints get the last laugh as New Orleans starts the season four and two. They win at home against the Cardinals and Niners. They lose at the Seahawks and at the Bills. Then they win home games against the giants and patriots. 4 and 2 to start the season for the Saints.
Dan Patrick
Started warm, then got hotter. Seaton NFC hot takes nfc.
Seaton
I'm going to continue my tradition of picking on the NFC South. Apparently, I have no team in the NFC south finishes above.500.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Ooh, math.
Paulie
That's tough math there.
Seaton
That is tough math. I don't know how many times that's happened in history, but it's gonna happen this year. I also have this one's a little less. I'm not sure if this works as a hot take or a prediction, but I have the first touchdown of the season will be a tush push by Jalen Hurts tonight. Play the first touchdown of the season. Does that count as a hot take? No.
Dan Patrick
He's got the second best odds to score a touchdown. First touchdown.
Seaton
That other person is not hot take. He'd say Quan Saquon, but he since he's second best.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, like if you said Dakota in a tush push, then that might be.
Seaton
A little more hot.
Dan Patrick
Warmer take. All right. Okay, Marvin. NFC hot take.
Marvin
Jared Goff will win the league MVP award Then my second one is the Washington Commanders will not make the playoffs this season.
Dan Patrick
All right. Eighth hardest schedule in the NFL for the Commanders. Paul. NFC Marvins are pretty warm.
Paulie
The Los Angeles Rams will beat the Eagles in the playoffs this year. My other one is Baker Mayfield will be the MVP runner up in the National Football League.
Dan Patrick
Okay, I see what you did.
Paulie
Not scalding, but pretty hot.
Dan Patrick
All right. My NFC hot take, Matthew golden will be the Rookie of the Year. Offensive rookie of the year. My other hot take is the Commanders will miss the playoffs.
Seaton
That's fun.
Dan Patrick
They face eight playoff teams from a year ago and they have the eighth hardest schedule.
Paulie
We're using logic and research.
Dan Patrick
Yes.
Paulie
Oh, boy.
Dan Patrick
It didn't go well for me with the jets last year, so I thought I'd better do some homework.
Paulie
Historically, we don't prepare for that.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, because then you'll have some. You pick the jet. Yeah, you're right, dude. Now it's time for the AFC hot take.
Todd McShay
Todd Trevor Lawrence will show significant improvements in 2025, and with some assistance from their top pick, Travis Hunter, the Jags will win the AFC South. They will then lose in a tight wild card game.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Todd McShay
And my other AFC was. Although they show some competitive spirit early on, the Cleveland Browns find themselves 0 and 8 heading into their bye week. The extra rest helps as they win their first game this season. Not until November 9th, week 10 at the Jets.
Dan Patrick
Seaton. AFC hot take.
Seaton
To make up for my lackluster NFC performance, I'm going to give you three for the AFC, although one of them I've already given you guys. So I'm going to come back to that. I have a bonus one from June. I have. The Chiefs will not make the playoffs this year. I said that in June. I'm going to stick with it. Let's see my other. I have two more for you. The Patriots are going 12 and five this season, not 13 and four or 11 and six are going 12 and five. And Joe Flacco will lead the Browns to a playoff appearance.
Dan Patrick
I think right now you could put on the hot take necklace, Todd, give it to Seaton for this year. I think now it's still in play, but I'm not gonna put it around.
Seaton
My neck until it's official.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Seaton
But I'll put it in my hands.
Dan Patrick
Okay. All right, Marvin. AFC hot take.
Marvin
Kind of going off of what Seon said about the Patriots. The Patriots will win the AFC east this season. They're going to go from worst, worst to first. And Kyle Hamilton. Kyle Hamilton of the Baltimore Ravens will win defensive player of the year.
Dan Patrick
He just got paid. All right, Paul. Afc.
Paulie
Afc hot takes. I have two. I'm taking a couple off. They were just used. Joe Burrow will throw at least 50 touchdown passes this season.
Dan Patrick
You better.
Paulie
My second one. Mike Tomlin will, quote, voluntarily step down at the end of this football season.
Dan Patrick
Whoa. Okay.
Paulie
Pretty hot.
Dan Patrick
Pretty hot. Yes.
Seaton
Thanks, Aaron. Yeah, I was gonna say just off of Marvin's.
Dan Patrick
Quickly.
Seaton
Didn't we just do a segment where we all pick defensive player of the year?
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Seaton
And yours is Kyle Hamilton.
Marvin
Yeah. But it was a hot take, though. Is this what we really think?
Seaton
Didn't we do that like two days ago? Yeah, we did a defensive Player of the year segment.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Seaton
I'm just trying to see what Marvin's.
Dan Patrick
Okay, let me continue with the afc.
Seaton
Oh, my apologies.
Dan Patrick
All right. Joey Bosa will lead the NFL in sacks for the Buffalo Bill. Wow. The Tennessee Titans will make the playoffs.
Paulie
Look at you coming out.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. I'm not joking around.
Seaton
You just take a. Paul's picks from last year.
Dan Patrick
Is that what it was? Kind of. I don't know if he had Joey Bosa leading the NFL. All right, any bonus hot takes that. Maybe some leftovers still up for grabs, Paulie?
Paulie
Because I don't. I think I'm in third place right now. My bonus hot take. Commissioner Roger Goodell will announce his retirement before the 2026 draft. He'll announce his retirement before the 2026.
Dan Patrick
Draft because he wants to get ahead of me in announcing his return.
Paulie
Amongst the reasons, yes.
Dan Patrick
Tough to walk away from $70 million or wherever he gets paid.
Paulie
I think he's gonna be 67 despite his great shape and jackness.
Dan Patrick
He's. Any other hot takes there? Anyone? Yes.
Seaton
I don't know if this is a hot take either, but is it possible that this is a little morbid too? There's going to be a rash of quarterback injuries this year and it's going to be because of the rule changes.
Dan Patrick
What are the rule changes?
Seaton
There's certain rule changes that. That have been made that the quarterback as a ball carrier and getting them outside of the pocket. The NFL has changed those rules.
Dan Patrick
Oh, okay. All right.
Seaton
And I think that's going to lead to a ton of quarterback injuries that. A rash of quarterback injuries and that's. Then they're going to re. Change those rules back.
Dan Patrick
Especially if a star player gets hurt. Then they like to change it. Yes. Todd.
Todd McShay
I kind of had a morbid one as well along scenes line. I hate to even say it. And I really hope it doesn't happen, but it's a tour related thing in the middle of the season where he has to strongly consider not playing anymore.
Dan Patrick
Okay, that's more of it.
Seaton
That is more of it.
Dan Patrick
Man. I sincerely hope it's kind of a buzz. I mean, where you're having fun with this now all of a sudden.
Todd McShay
I just made it very serious.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, you did. Paul, did you have an extra one?
Paulie
No, I think that's it. It's up to you to judge, though.
Dan Patrick
Oh, Seaton. I'm going to give Seon the the hot take chain.
Paulie
He started slow and really picked it up.
Dan Patrick
Yes. I was going to say that Daniel Jones has a Sam Darnold, like, season for the Colts. Sam Darnold or I should say Daniel Jones has a Sam Darnold, like, what does that mean? It's a resurgence, like Sam Darnold in Minnesota. Daniel Jones has that for the Indianapolis Colts. Maybe a Pro Bowler. Yes. Todd, you have anything else you'd like to.
Todd McShay
No, I don't want to bring it down any more than I already just did 45 seconds ago.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, hot take.
Seaton
ESPN goes bankrupt due to backlash from commercials in the red. Red zone.
Dan Patrick
ESPN does a deep dive into the NFL. You can't say that. Don't say that. Look at me. Alrighty. We will bring those back when we we get to the Super Bowl. The super bowl in San Francisco. All right. When we come back, one of our favorite guests, Ross Tucker, will join us. We'll have him provide. Todd, tell him to have two nfc, two AFC hot takes and one morbid one. No, no, no. That's on you.
Todd McShay
That's on me?
Marvin
Yes.
Todd McShay
I wish I didn't even say that out loud. That was a terrible, terrible thing to even predict that. Even though we don't want to see anything like that happen, to even try to do that for a hot take game is just uncalled for.
Dan Patrick
But why did you do it?
Todd McShay
I don't know. It was classless and I apologize for that. And I'm praying as I'm talking, horrible happened.
Paulie
Why do you have these thoughts before you said it?
Todd McShay
I think the problem is for me, I don't edit myself very well and I have these thought bubbles and I have this urge to just say things and I press the microphone button and.
Dan Patrick
I. Yeah, but you walk around the man cave, you talk to the back room guys all the time.
Todd McShay
I'm very sociable and I'm.
Dan Patrick
No, no. But why wouldn't you say to them, hey, I was thinking about saying this as a hot take.
Todd McShay
I don't respect their opinions. The opposite of what? You probably shouldn't say that. Whatever, Mario. I'm gonna say it anyway.
Dan Patrick
Okay, let's. That's good. That's fair. Fair answer there. Let's take a break. Ross Tucker will join us coming up right after this. Be sure to catch the live edition of the Dan Patrick show, weekdays at Eastern, 6am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. Hey, it's Ben, host of the Fifth Hour with Ben Mahler. Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman
I'm Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman, host of the Psychology Podcast. Here's a clip from an upcoming conversation about exploring human potential. I was going to schools to try to teach kids these skills, and I get eye rolling from teachers or I get students who would be like, it's easier to punch someone in the face. When you think about emotion regulation, like, you're not going to choose an adaptive strategy which is more effortful to use unless you think there's a good outcome as a result of it, if it's going to be beneficial to you. Because it's easy to just say like. Like you go blank yourself, right? It's easy. It's easy to just drink the extra beer. It's easy to ignore, to suppress seeing a colleague who's bothering you and. And just like, walk the other way. Avoidance is easier. Ignoring is easier. Denial is easier. Drinking is easier. Yelling, screaming is easy. Complex problem solving, meditating, you know, takes effort. Listen to the psychology podcast on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Dan Patrick
Man, it got hot in here, and I was gonna take off all my clothes, but Marvin said, no, you still got 40 minutes here. That was our. The fifth annual NFL Hot Takes there. What was the hottest take? Seaton, what was your NFC hot take? Or do we start with.
Seaton
I think I had two that I liked.
Dan Patrick
The no.
Seaton
1 in the NFC south will finish above.500.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Seaton
And my AFC was. Joe Flacco will lead the Browns to the playoffs.
Dan Patrick
Okay, that one's. That one's spicy. That's tasty. Ross Tucker, CBS Sports, Westwood One. He's an analyst. He's the host of Ross Tucker football Podcast. He'll be in the booth tonight for the Cowboys and the Eagles and then on CBS tv, Cardinals and the Saints coming up this weekend. All right, you got a hot take for me, nfc.
Marvin
I can give you one. I mean, I always get nervous about these because then you're going to put it on social media and then it's like, oh, my gosh, he thinks that. And I get ripped like Seaton's going to for having Flacco in the Browns going to the playoffs. That's hilarious. You know what? I don't know. I'll be curious to hear how hot you guys think this is, but I think a 6 and 11 team from a year ago in the NFC is going to go to the Super Bowl. The Niners not paying Attention. It's The San Francisco 49ers who somehow not only have the easiest schedule this year, they have the easiest strength of schedule in the last 10 years. And oh, by the way, you know, they had a lot of underlying statistics that weren't that bad last year in terms of yards per play, all those things. And they did it without McCaffrey, without Trent Williams. They were banged up on defense. I believe in their core guys like Fred Warner and use check and Kittle. I think the Niners bounce back in a major way. Not the Eagles, not the Packers. I think The San Francisco 49ers are going to the super bowl again.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I have Christian McCaffrey as the offensive player of the year. So I'm, I'm, I'm with you on the Niners being sneaky good this year. Yeah, your hot take in the afc.
Marvin
I got two. I got two I like in the afc. I don't know how scorching you think either one is. The first one is not quite Joe Flacco Brown's level. But I'll take Danny Dimes, Daniel Jones and the Colts to make the playoffs, maybe even win that division in the AFC South. Save Shane Steichen's job. Saves Chris Ballard's job. And people have to think out long and hard about Daniel Jones tenure with the Giants after he leads the Colts to the playoffs. The other one though I really like is that I think we all assume the afc, it's going to be the Ravens, the Bills, the Chiefs, maybe Burrow in the Bengals. I think there's a pretty good chance. The AFC championship game includes Sean Payton, Bo Nixon, and the Denver Broncos. Top five defense, top five offensive line. The question is whether or not Bo Nix is good enough to win multiple playoff games against MVP caliber guys like Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, you know, whatever, Lamar. But I'm going to say that they can do it and that the Broncos are the surprise team in the AFC championship game.
Dan Patrick
All right? Those are respectable, you know, and the 49er take that. They go to the Super Bowl. That's not crazy.
Marvin
No, those are like, those are my warm takes.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Marvin
You know, like they're, they're not scorching hot that I'm gonna get ripped for them. But they're not like obvious either. They're warm enough that they're passable for the segment.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, it's like you're taking cookies out of the oven and you don't need an oven mittens for them. That's sort of what your, your takes are And I do. I. I almost picked the Colts with Danny Dimes, that he would. He would have a resurgence and they would make the playoffs. I decided to make it hotter and say that the Titans were going to make the playoffs. Yeah. And you know who's getting a lot of love? The Patriots. Like, there are. There's a lot of people who believe Mike Brable is going to have a playoff team this year. What do you think?
Marvin
I think they're getting a little too much love.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Marvin
I mean, I did a couple of their games last year on tv. Did people watch the Patriots play football last year? I mean, they were bad. Bad. And I would agree that Mayo was not a good coach, and I'm sure Vrabel is significantly better. And it's wild to see the Kraft family spend the money that they spent. I think they're sick and tired of losing and they want to at least get back to respectability. By the way, how crazy is it, Dan? I love stuff like this. The highest paid player in New England Patriots franchise history is Milton Williams. Okay. Milton Williams was not even really a starter for the Eagles last year. He started a bunch of games, but he's one of the three starting D tackles that the Eagles rotated through in the Patriot spending spree. They made him think about the guys that have played for the, like Tom Brady and all these guys and Milton Wood. That's a good trivia question up there in New England for you guys.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, very good. Ross Tucker, CBS Sports, Westwood One. He'll be doing tonight's game with Kevin Harlan. And it'll sound a little bit like this tonight.
Todd McShay
This is the NBA on tnt, but it'll be football.
Dan Patrick
Thank you, Todd. And then on Sunday, he'll have the Cardinals and the Saints. I saw where Robert Kraft commented on Belichick getting a statue, and Tommy, of course, is going to get a statue. Would you combine the statue with Brady and Belichick in New England?
Marvin
No, I wouldn't. And, you know, I think Brady already got one or I think it's already up.
Dan Patrick
Oh, that's right.
Marvin
It's going to be soon. You know, they put it. They better put the Belichick one up soon. I mean, I, I can't remember very many guys that have done more to diminish reputation over the last five years than Belichick. I mean, the crazy thing is, if you think about it, okay, I can't remember what year it was, Dan, but like, Derek Carr had signed a deal for $30 million a year with the Raiders. And Brady said, listen, I'LL make less than guys, but this is. He was. Brady's making, like, 19, so he just wanted 25. Right. Like, even less than Derek Carr. Dan. They gave him $5 million in incentives, which was incredibly insulting. You'll never convince me that that wasn't the exact moment that he said, I'm out of here. It was Belichick's idea. See, we would have never known, okay, that Brady could do it without Belichick unless Belichick moved on from him like he did. So that was bad move number one. That led, obviously, to the Patriots being a disaster the last couple years. Then however you feel about his personal life, you can feel. And then now with the North Carolina the other night and not being able to get jobs from any of these NFL teams two years in a row, it just. It's not a good look for a guy that was, you know, in most people's opinion, the greatest coach of all time. It feels like every year they're taking another. Another swipe at that thing. They better put the statue up soon.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I forgot about Brady's statue where his head is really small, but the rest of the statue is. Is large there. I just. I don't. I mean, you were in New England for a little while with Belichick. I just. I just don't think that personality translates. Transfers to the college kids, and you got to go in there and you got to be in living rooms with them, and you got to have, you know, another. An extra slice of pie, and you gotta be booster. Me, like, all the things that Bill hates doing. You know, he wants to be in the lab. Well, you can only be in the lab so long. You got to be out there front and center, representing your program. And I didn't think they were going to get embarrassed like they did, but I don't think this is a. Oh, my gosh. He's going to show everybody he. He can coach no matter where.
Marvin
Well, a couple things. Number one, I had nine head coaches in the NFL. Belichick's fantastic. I mean, schematically, unbelievably impressive, the scheme he would come up with week to week. Best coach I was ever around in terms of telling you the legit three keys to the game and us knowing if we did those three things, we would win. And it happened almost all the time.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but he didn't go into your friend, your family's house and recruit you and try to charm your mom. He just like, who do we have? All right, Ross Tucker. All right, Ross.
Marvin
Well, that's the thing. He can turn the charm on when he has to, but to your point, he doesn't want to. And it's. It's not his natural disposition. Right. So I think in general, in life, you're usually set up for success when you can just be your normal. Like, you guys know when I come on with you or when I call, like, this is. You know, when I have dinner with Paulie, like, this is just how I am. Right. Like, this is how I. This is how I am. Belichick is being forced to act in a way that's not natural. That's not him. I'm a little surprised he did it. I think, you know, they'll be better, I guess, over the course of the year. But that was a big. I mean, Michael Jordan and Lawrence Taylor up there, maybe the best alumni duo I've ever seen. It's all. It's nationally televised, espn, the mothership. They're all there. And that was. I mean, that was about as embarrassing as it can get.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I don't know how much better it gets because you bring in 70 players and he's the king of adjustments. They didn't make adjustments in the second half. The adjustment was, oh, my gosh, how badly are we going to lose? Not we're going to lose. That was what was probably the most surprising. And he's not going to coach in the NFL again. There's no owner who's going to say, you know what? Let's bring in Bill. He can solve all of this. Because now he's bringing in a whole lot more than just a great resume. I just don't. I don't see that happening.
Marvin
Well, and think about it, too, Dan. You know, these guys, like these high school kids every year removed.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Marvin
They were seven and eight, you know, years old when Brady was winning Super Bowls with Belichick. The shine is wearing off with every passing year. I think it's gonna probably get harder for him, not easier.
Dan Patrick
All right, your NFC pick. Are you staying with the 49ers? That was a hot take selection. But what is your real take, the reasonable take in the NFC to go to the Super Bowl? You know.
Marvin
You know what? I think there's three teams I can see doing it right now. I think it's the Eagles, the Packers, now that they have Micah Parsons, which I still can't believe. The Cowboys made that trade. Unbelievable on so many levels. I. I wouldn't be surprised if the packers went at all. But I'll go with the Niners. I'll stick with it, because of that schedule, because I think this is probably the last run they have in them with this group of guys this course. So I, and they, they, they find a way. It feels like Kyle Shanahan has like bad year, super bowl, bad year, Super Bowl. I think they're going to get back to super bowl. So I'll stick with the 49ers.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Your AFC pick.
Marvin
Yeah, I mean, I think you guys know I, I, I wish so badly that I could give you fresh blood. I would, I would love a Bills, Detroit Lions, super bowl for those players, for those fans. But when people ask me like you, I'm going to give you. You know what I think is most likely? I think it's the Chiefs. I, I don't think the Chiefs will win as many games this year because I don't think they'll continue to win every one score game ever. That luck will run out. But I think they're going to be better. I mean, I've heard from multiple people this is the best Kelsey's looked in a couple years. They're going to have the whole second half of the year. Hollywood Brown, Xavier Worthy, Rasheed Rice on the field at the same time, Mahomes super motivated. They're definitely better at left tackle with that rookie Josh Simmons out of Ohio State. I think the Chiefs, you know, I know people are getting Chiefs fatigue. I think the Chiefs go to the super bowl again.
Dan Patrick
I went on a rant to start the show maybe called a hot take. And we shouldn't have a divisional game, the Chiefs and Chargers out of the country. We just, I mean they can play, but not the first week. Like I just don't think that's, it's fair to the teams, the fan base. But you know, I know this is going to continue to happen here. Your thoughts on having a game out of the country of this magnitude or any game to start the year that we're going to be in another country.
Marvin
I don't mind the first game of the year aspect of it. What bothers me is if you're the Chargers and you're trying to win the division to lose a home game to Brazil. Now in fairness, if you've ever seen the Chargers host the Chiefs, half the fans are Chiefs fans, right? Like the Chargers are still trying to find their way in la. Half the stadium is Chiefs fans anyway. But it's still a home game. You don't have to travel, you're in your own locker room and stadium. You still have some fans there to give up a division game. That's the part that bothers me, is not. Not the week one aspect of it. It's the losing a home game. That home game you lose, in my mind, should be a. A team in the other conference, you know, one of the crossover games.
Dan Patrick
Before I let you go, I brought up we're going to get to 18 games. Question is not if, but when, but if you're part of the Players Association, I suggested four roster spots, extra roster spots for each team. If for an 18 game season, ask that. Do you want to add to that? What would you want to. What would you want as a player if you're going to 18 games with getting an extra paycheck, but what else?
Marvin
Yeah, so I love the roster spot idea, Dan. And so the owners will push back on that because those roster spots lead to all the benefits, right?
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Marvin
So your health savings account, your severance, your pension, your annuity, your 401k. I mean, there's a lot of benefits tied into that. And so they will fight that, but I think that's. I think that's a worthwhile fight. I really do. There's only two things that matter, right? Trying to get a greater percentage of the pie. So whatever it is, 48 and a half percent, try to get that to 49 or 49 and a half. Or say you want, you want 18th game, let's do 50. 50. I don't know that that'll happen, but I do like your roster spot idea because the other thing is there's 16 guys on practice squads now. Practice squad year does not count for your benefits. So there's something there, too, where maybe if you have two practice squad years, accounts for your benefits as well, because that makes a big difference, man. I look at, you know, I look all the time at what my 401k is, my annuity, what my pension will be, which I can take, by the way, as early as 55. That makes a big difference. I mean, there's guys that hang on those last few years. I remember having a veteran long snapper when I was a rookie. He said I would just play for the benefits of this, but I don't even need my salary. I just want to keep stacking all those benefits. So I think you're on the right track, Dan, with the roster spot thing. Plus, that is music to the ears of the vast majority of the guys that are going to vote on that cba. Those are. A lot of those guys are bubble guys. They want those extra roster spots to keep this thing going.
Dan Patrick
Have fun tonight. We'll talk to you soon.
Marvin
Thank you so much, Dan. I will.

I'm Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman, host of the psychology podcast. Here's a clip from an upcoming conversation about exploring human potential. I was going to schools to try to teach kids these skills and I get eye rolling from teachers or I get students who would be like, it's easier to punch someone in the face when you think about emotion regulation, like you're not going to choose an adaptive strategy which is more effortful to use, unless you think there's a good outcome as a result of it. If it's going to be beneficial to you. Because it's easy to say, like, go blank yourself. Right? It's easy. It's easy to just drink the extra beer. It's easy to ignore, to suppress seeing a colleague who's bothering you and just, like, walk the other way. Avoidance is easier. Ignoring is easier. Denial is easier. Drinking is easier. Yelling, screaming is easy. Complex problem solving. Meditating, you know, takes effort. Listen to the psychology podcast on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Last call for phone calls. What's in store tomorrow. Also, we write the headline for tonight's game. 877 3DP show. All right, Todd, you already gave us your headline for the Cowboys and the Eagles.
Todd McShay
I had. How do you like dak? Philly picks apart. Prescott 29, 23. Eagles.
Dan Patrick
Okay. How many does he throw? Two. Okay. Two interceptions. Seaton, you got a headline for tonight's game? Shush. Push.
Seaton
Eagles tell the Cowboys to zip it.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, no, that's not any good. No, it's not good. Smack. Why?
Seaton
Is that anyone?
Dan Patrick
It's just not why.
Seaton
It's not no worse than anyone else.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, it is. Well, let's see. Marvin, what's your headline?
Marvin
Missing Parsons Eagles offense dominates.
Dan Patrick
Like missing persons.
Todd McShay
Oh, I like that.
Dan Patrick
Okay, that one's better.
Seaton
Not really.
Dan Patrick
Yes, not that much better. Seaton and Paul.
Seaton
Not really.
Paulie
Parsons, the interruption. Cowboys take down the Eagles.
Dan Patrick
Okay, blue. Blue. What?
Seaton
Around the scorn.
Dan Patrick
Cowboys upset about the.
Paulie
I can't believe it. Cowboys win.
Dan Patrick
Okay, let's see. Final results of the poll question. I forgot what the poll question was. Who cares, man? This show got away from me.
Seaton
Yeah, it sure did.
Dan Patrick
It did it.
Seaton
This one. This one, for some reason, kind of makes me upset. I'm not really sure why, but Steve Ballmer is the victim. Victim or villain? Allegedly. I put in there. Okay, 89 have him allegedly as the villain.
Dan Patrick
Wow. You can't do allegedly.
Seaton
I did put in in parentheses.
Dan Patrick
Allegedly. Allegedly. Allegedly. It's for legal purposes, of course. Yeah, I don't want to get sued. Okay. So this day in sports history.
Paulie
This day in sports history. 1993, Jim Abbott, pitcher for the Yankees, pitched a no hitter with one hand. Now, it wasn't a choice. He was born with one hand.
Todd McShay
He didn't.
Paulie
Wasn't trying to be a show off. And I did a little research to see if There were any other pitchers in MLB history with one hand. Pete Gray pitched for St. Louis 1945 and Chad Benz for the Expos and Marlins in 04 and 05. Part of the one handed club up.
Dan Patrick
On this date 1994 this guy scores the first two point conversion in NFL history Running in a fake extra point attempt in the Bengals lost to the Browns. Tom Tupa Tom Hoopa former Jet GR and Ohio State I think Tom Tupa Let me see and it's got two.
Todd McShay
In it for Tupa.
Dan Patrick
Thank you Todd. Tom Tupac.
Todd McShay
How about that Make a T shirt number two Paul Late for the. For the T shirt.
Dan Patrick
Thank you. Let's see anything else in here? Oh in 1991 baseball the statistical Accuracy Committee who knew or sack as I like to call it back up they they remove the asterisk From Roger Maris's 1961 home run record and they also determine an official no hitter must go at least nine innings. That happened on this day in 1991 the sack the Statistical Accuracy Committee John in Lancaster. Hey John. Hey DP Shout out Seaton My son and I got a chance to meet you at the Mako meetup there on your road trip in Lancaster a few months ago back I got a great three day run here tonight I will be at the Eagles game cheering on my birds Tomorrow night I got a bourbon and cigar dinner to go to and Saturday night I am seeing Stephen Wilson Jr. The third in concert so it's going to be a good good three days here quick hot take for you. Jerry Jones will go down as the best general manager in Eagles history. Thank you Joe. Best GM in history for. Well not the Packers. Packers have had some great gms. Let's see Madden Michigan. Hi Matt. What's on your mind today adp what's up guys it was a pleasure to meet you at the draft I came all the way down from the up and shook you boys hands. Pleasure of a lifetime Also what an onslaught of hot takes by you boys today. I'll tell you it's. I'm hard to hard pressed to figure out who deserves that hot take chain considering I made it. Oh thank you Matt. You know that's very nice of you. We. We appreciate the. The hot take chain. Beautiful. Gorgeous. Looks great on you guys man. It was a pleasure. I got one hot take for you all right in Fields and the New York jets don't sleep on you gotta be a little more specific than that Matt. Justin. Justin Fields might might be an MVP candidate after 8 to 10 weeks I think he's gonna go absolute terror in the right system and with his offensive talent. And that defense is no joke either, dp. All right, well, thank you, Matt. That got a little warm there. That's a little warm to the touch. I love Justin Fields. I do. I just don't know if he can be a consistent quarterback.
Todd McShay
Yes, Todd, did Matt call to give a hot take or to remind us that he made the hot take chain?
Dan Patrick
Probably both.
Todd McShay
A little combo.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Yeah, but you have ulterior motives all the time.
Todd McShay
That's why I picked up on that right away. That's why I know that.
Dan Patrick
Yes, Paul, but don't you think if.
Paulie
A guy like Fields got drafted by the Eagles, he'd be a very good NFL quarterback right now with what they would surround him with?
Dan Patrick
Maybe. Maybe. But he was in Pittsburgh.
Paulie
Did he get a full shot there? No, because he got. Didn't get injured right before the season. And Russ snuck in.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I don't know. I. I think he's got a ton of talent, but that position is about consistency. Let's go around the room. What we learned on the program. Todd, you learned anything today? I did.
Todd McShay
Ross Tucker sees the 49ers hosting Super Bowl 60 in San Francisco. Is hot. Take AFC opponent the Broncos actual pick, the Chiefs.
Dan Patrick
All right. Seat. No. Connor, what did you learn today?
Seaton
Many, many hot takes today. Numerous.
Dan Patrick
Marvin.
Marvin
You guys love TV dinners way more than me.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but they were kind of a staple back then. Like you missed the window, like your mom was cooking for you. It was just you. My mom had six kids. She's like, I don't know. Here, TV dinner. Paul, would you learn the hot take game?
Paulie
Just like life, it's more important to be hot than right.
Dan Patrick
Have a great day everybody. Enjoy the football. We look forward to chatting with you about it tomorrow.

Host: Dan Patrick
Guests/Contributors: Todd McShay, Paulie, Seaton, Marvin, Ross Tucker
The final hour of The Dan Patrick Show dives deep into the NFL season’s “hot take” tradition, as Dan and his crew each deliver their boldest predictions for the AFC and NFC (the fifth annual “Hot Take Draft”). The panel debates whose takes are the hottest, with plenty of humor and playful banter. Later, respected analyst Ross Tucker joins to share his outlook on surprising NFL contenders and discuss the direction of NFL scheduling and policy.
[03:02–18:08]
Each contributor delivers two NFC and two AFC hot takes.
Seaton’s Hot Takes:
Todd’s Hot Takes:
Marvin’s Hot Takes:
Paulie’s Hot Takes:
Dan’s Hot Takes:
[25:22–41:32]
Ross Tucker joins to offer his own takes and address broader football topics.
[47:10–54:17]
Panel shares tongue-in-cheek headline ideas for Eagles–Cowboys kickoff game.
Listeners chime in with their own hot takes, including one suggesting Jerry Jones will be remembered as the “best GM in Eagles history” (51:46), evoking laughs.
Paulie delivers the show’s wry motto:
The show maintains a light, irreverent tone with plenty of ribbing between the crew and a touch of self-deprecation—especially when reviewing past failed predictions and emphasizing the fun, “it’s better to be hot than right” spirit of the hot take exercise. Ross Tucker brings a balance of thoughtful analysis and relatable, inside-the-league perspective, and the segment touches on serious issues (CBA, player safety, Belichick’s legacy) without losing the show's entertainment flair.
