Dan Patrick
You are listening to the Dan Patrick show on Fox Sports Radio. Final hour on this Thursday, Dan and the Danets. Dan Patrick show baseball later today and tonight, Phillies at the Dodgers. And that will be 3 o' clock local in Los Angeles. Then it's the brewers and the Cubs. You have Thursday Night Football. Eagles in the Giants. We did reach out to Major League Baseball. I'm still not sure why the Phillies and Dodgers are the first game. So since it's in Los Angeles, brewers at the Cubs is the nightcap. If you're trying to stagger the starts and not compete with the Eagles and the Giants, you're going to compete with them. But I would have thought Brewers, Cubs, and then you have Eagles, Giants, and then you would have the Phillies at the Dodgers. But Phillies bats came to life last night at the expense of Clayton Kershaw. And Kyle Schwaber hit two bombs last night and brewers will be at the Cubs. The Blue Jays close out the Yankees and this is how it sounded. The 1, 2 swing in a mid strike, 3 scream and flex from Hoffman. The Blue Jays are back in the ALCS for the first time since 2016. They down the Yankees in their own yard and they're the first first team in baseball's final four. All right, that's Blue Jays radio network. Tigers and the Mariners, they're tied at two games apiece. But you have the Eagles favored by seven on the road against the Giants. We started the show, we talked a lot about the Bill Belichick situation in North Carolina. And there's a lot of different reports now. It's not just rumor, innuendo. These are reports talking about real dissension. The locker room seems fractured. You just, you have a lot of discussion around this. Is there an exit strategy? That term came up yesterday. Exit strategy or plan for Bill Belichick? What would it cost to get rid of Bill Belichick? Does Belichick want to be fired so he gets paid? You know, could there be a settlement there? That there was a report that he might not even last until I think they play Cal this weekend or their next game and that he might not be coaching in that game. So you know, these reports and I guess there is speculation, not all of it is reporting, but there's a lot of speculation here on how long is Bill going to last there in North Carolina. You've got parents who've talked about the lack of a relationship there. And once again, I don't know if I have anything to compare it to I don't know if any parent ever said, saban doesn't say anything to us at Alabama, but with Bill Belichick, he's not Mr. Conversation here. I don't know what you were hoping for. He didn't communicate with his Patriot players, let alone the North Carolina kids. But when you bring in 70 players, so it's not all transfers. You have, whatever, 30 freshmen that maybe came in, so maybe 40 are coming in from another program. These are still players that Bill brought in. It's not like he said, boy, I inherited this roster. Like when Dion went to Colorado that first year. Now, he did get to bring in his son and Travis Hunter, but he did inherit some players. And he basically said, hey, Pack, because I'm bringing in my guys. Bill brought in his guys, so you can't use that as an excuse that Mack Brown didn't leave me anything. Bill's got to decide if he wants to be Bill Belichick because. And while that sounds strange, I just don't know. Like, at some point the lamp goes out, you know, the candle is blown out here. And I don't know what his priorities are, because it doesn't feel like it's football the way it once was. It felt like that's all Bill cared about in New England. That's. It didn't have a life. This is all he cared about. And, you know, couldn't wait to solve problems, whatever it was, offense, defense, special teams, he was able to get rid of the clutter. And I never thought that I would use the word messy attached to a Bill Belichick team, but this situation is messy. Whether it's fact or fiction, it's still messy. And then you have the athletic department and Belichick, and you put out statements at the same time. We're behind you, and I'm all in. And, you know, okay, you're full. You're five games in. You're putting out statements. I mean, that's putting out fires. Yeah.
Paulie
Paulie, just to play devil's advocate, if you're a supporter or you work for North Carolina, you've never been great at football. You've had a couple years where you won 10 games. Like every two or every generation, you win that. Don't you want to be patient with one of the great football minds of all time and let it play out, to maybe get to a special place before you rip it all apart again?
Dan Patrick
Well, they do have two wins, but those are impressive wins. The losses have been embarrassing. You lose the fan base. That's what makes you know, owners and athletic departments really nervous when the local fans don't show up or they don't stick. Remember that big unveiling, the big game on ESPN to start the season? You got all the luminaries there. You got Lawrence Taylor and Michael Jordan and Mia Hamm and. And then they had everything but a competitive football team there. I. I understand what you're saying, but Bill is, what, 73. Like, your patience is not going to be as long as it would normally be. But you also want to see positives. That's the one thing that would make me nervous is what are the positives we've seen. What are the. Oh, wow, we got somebody there. We got something there. Boy, that secondary is good, man. We got a good offensive line. We found our quarterback. None of those things are applicable here. That would be the big concern. And does Bill want to stay and do this? Because now that you've done it, now that you're there and they were the 33rd team member. They were the NFL's 33rd team. They. They were the ones to tell you that Bill and Mike Lombardi, hey, we'll be the 33rd team players are going to come here. So they know that they're going to be, you know, in the fast lane and they're going to the NFL. But that. That is not the case. I don't know how long you wait before you say, okay, this is. This was the right move or we got to move on from this. But I think we're closer to the latter than the former of moving on from this, because I don't. Bill is not all of a sudden going to be, you know, cheery and come on in and, you know, Pete Carroll, like, he's just not that guy. And I think college, really, in today's atmosphere, I think you have to have that. You young guys, energetic guys, and that's not Bill. When you win, I don't. You can have any kind of personality you want. Greg Popovich could have that personality because he won. When you lose, you can't. Bill had that personality because he won. And then when he didn't, then all of a sudden we go, what did that guy? Man got no personality. Who would want to play for him? And you would go there because you knew you were going to be playing in playoff games. You were be. You're going to be playing in Super Bowls. You had a chance for history. North Carolina, you're not playing for anything anytime soon. Yes, Marvin.
Snax
Yeah. I just felt bad. It just felt like after the Falcons fiasco where he didn't get the job there. You know what, I guess I'll settle for North Carolina. It felt like he was settling for a coaching job just for the sake of coaching. It's not like he went to a top tier program. He went to a second rate program that's really a basketball school. It's like, you know what? I guess I'll be here.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, yeah, but he wanted to be. He got paid $10 million.
Snax
Oh, I go anywhere for $10 million.
Dan Patrick
You know, I really like coaching. I'm going to coach lacrosse, you know. No, he, he went and you're paying him and he's one of the top paid coaches in America. There should be results, immediate results from him.
Paulie
Yeah, Paulie, I know it's 25 years ago, but when Bill Belichick started in New England his first year, they were 5 and 11 and the reviewers were not great. They won three of the next four Super Bowls and they were somewhat patient. Everyone gets a second year back then. But if you go back to Belichick, when he coached the Cleveland Browns, he got them to 11 and 5 and next year they went 5 and 11 and they bailed on him. I wonder if they would want to do over. I don't know. I think maybe when you're in North Carolina, have done light work in the past 10 years of success, why not wait another year and let it play out and see what this guy can do?
Dan Patrick
Well, that's what I thought, he would last one more year, but I don't even know if he lasts this year. I thought maybe he would find out after two years. Maybe, you know, this isn't right for me or they're going to find out he's not the right guy. Yes.
Todd
I mean North Carolina should learn from the jets who should have been more patient with him. Maybe the jets should have given him a little bit more time to figure that out.
Dan Patrick
Sunday night it'll be Jared Goff and the Lions and Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs at Arrowhead. Sunday, 7 Eastern on NBC. And Peacock Stephen in Buffalo. Hi, Steve. What's on your mind today?
Caller/Listener
Hey, good morning, fellows. Happy Thursday. I guess for Mr. Seaton, since he is the authority on football and sports stadium. One of your callers mentioned a custom song, the Buffalo Bills have the Shout song that came out in the 90s and has been a part of that team my entire life. The entire fan base, everybody knows it. We shout it out in airports and give the A's to see where we are and come out of the Woodwork. It is the Buffalo Bill song.
Dan Patrick
All right, thank you, Stephen. William in Virginia. Hi, William.
Caller/Listener
Good morning. A true 6ft 185 and this pain. This pains me to say this because I'm a Cowboys fan. From Eddie LeBaron all the way up.
Dan Patrick
Wow.
Caller/Listener
The Redskins. The Redskins, they had the classic song. They even had the band dressed up in garb and it was hail to the Redskins. And as a Cowboys fan, it was like salt in the wood. It was bad.
Dan Patrick
All right, well, thank you. Goes Back to Eddie LeBaron. Like, Eddie LeBaron was 5ft 7. He was the quarterback. Dustin in Alabama. Hi, Dustin.
Caller/Listener
Who that rolls out. Yeah. On iconic stadium songs and a quick Spencer Rattler Update. After starting 0:10 as the Saints first drafted quarterback to win a game since 98, he is now conquered that hill. Won his first game last week. However, if you've ever been into the Saints game, the New Orleans Superdome, last time I was there for a big, big game was in like 2012. Drew Brees versus why is his name Aaron Rodgers. But the iconic song by the duetic the duo poetic stylings of Yin Yang twins stand up and get cronk. Marv might know about that one. There is no better song in the NFL.
Dan Patrick
All right, well, thank you. Thank you, Dustin. Yeah. Been a long time since they've had a really big, big game there in New Orleans. Are you aware of let's get crunk there, Marvin?
Snax
I'm aware of the Yin Yang twins, the legendary duo, but I am not aware of that song. I'd go to many Saints games.
Dan Patrick
Dave in Arkansas. Hi, Dave.
Caller/Listener
They call me Pittsburgh Dave. And you want stadium songs. I'm sorry. We have the gold standard sticks and Renegade. There is nothing like the end of the third quarter and that screen comes on and 70,000 Steelers fans go wild. There is nothing better than that. I don't care what anybody else says. We've got it. We're taking the. We're taking the award home. And the rest of you can shut up.
Dan Patrick
All right, That's Pittsburgh Dave. Yes.
Todd
Not a lot of people fighting for that one.
Dan Patrick
You guys go ahead.
Todd
It's all you.
Dan Patrick
Yes, you go ahead. Yeah. Smart.
Snax
I'm already. I'm already disagreeing because House of Pain jump around in Madison, Wisconsin.
Dan Patrick
That is. That is awesome.
Snax
On tv, I've never even been there, but on tv, it looks like there's nothing that tops that.
Dan Patrick
Didn't they have part of their stands that collapsed one time? Like a Saturday afternoon game with everybody jumping around? Yes.
Paulie
Paulie I was there one time for Wisconsin, Nebraska, and you know it's coming, and you know the stands are going to. It feels like a planned earthquake when you're standing there. Exactly.
Dan Patrick
When the Bulls were doing the starting lineup and you heard that music, the Alan Parsons Project, that's. That's iconic because you know that. That. That great. Something great was going to happen or the potential for something great was going to happen because it was Mike and the Bulls. And when you heard that, it's like, oh, we're in trouble. Yeah, Paulie.
Paulie
The band Sticks Renegade is popular at Steelers games. No connection to the Steelers in any way. They would play that song occasionally after defensive highlights. In a 2002 playoff game against the Browns, the Steelers played Renegade Run. They were down 24 7. They won the game. And some local people said, we got to start playing that. There it is.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Yeah.
Todd
If you remember, a couple months back, I wanted to make a new rule that you were only allowed to use bands from your area. So really, Chicago should be. Has the rights to sticks. Pittsburgh really shouldn't be using them, as far as I'm aware. I don't think of Sticks. I don't know what their origins would be with Pittsburgh. I think of them as a Chicago band.
Dan Patrick
Yes. Okay. Yes. Paul.
Paulie
Yeah, they're absolutely sticks. A Southside Chicago band. I wonder if there was a trade made. Is there a Pittsburgh band that traded a song to be named later with the Bear?
Dan Patrick
Well, with somebody. A Steeler fan in the band Sticks. Was Tommy Shaw a Steeler fan?
Paulie
I'm finding no connection whatsoever.
Todd
Pittsburgh.
Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman
Few.
Todd
I just want Rusted Root. Go ahead. You guys could do Send Me Them Away.
Paulie
That's a straight up trade. Go ahead. You guys want to take that?
Dan Patrick
You go right ahead. My way. How about. Who is it, Donnie? Was that. Was that the artist? Donnie Iris. Did he do.
Paulie
Checking.
Dan Patrick
He didn't do 867-5309, did he?
Paulie
That's Tommy Two Tone.
Dan Patrick
Is it? Tommy Two Tone? Was there. Is there an artist from Pittsburgh named Donnie Iris? Does that sound right?
Annette
Yes.
Paulie
Donnie Iris just found him.
Dan Patrick
And what was his song?
Paulie
Checking. I'm looking at. I was trying to find out.
Dan Patrick
He had one song. He had one semi hit.
Paulie
Maybe Love is Like a Rock. And Aliyah.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, Aliyah. Yeah. That. I think that was his deep cut.
Paulie
By you?
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Todd
From Back on the Streets, 1980.
Paulie
How We Sleep on that all these years, Donnie.
Dan Patrick
I think I had the album, too. Yeah. With Rick Springfield.
Todd
Yeah. This video is insane. Oh, my God. This is the veggies in a yellow tuxedo. It kind of looks like Howard Stern killing it.
Dan Patrick

I'm Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman, host of The Psychology Podcast Here's a clip from an upcoming conversation about exploring human potential. I was going to schools to try to teach kids these skills and I get eye rolling from teachers or I get students who would be like, it's easier to punch someone in the face. When you think about emotion regulation, like you're not going to choose an adaptive strateg which is more effortful to use unless you think there's a good outcome as a result of it. If it's going to be beneficial to you because it's easy to say like you go blank yourself, right? It's easy. It's easy to just drink the extra beer. It's easy to ignore, to suppress seeing a colleague who's bothering you and just like walk the other way. Avoidance is easier. Ignoring is easier. Denial is easier. Drinking is easier. Yelling, screaming is easy. Complex problem solving, meditating, you know, takes effort. Listen to the psychology podcast on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Hey sis, what if I could promise you you never had to listen to a condescending finance bro tell you how to manage your money again? Welcome to Brown Ambition. This is the hard part. When you pay down those credit cards. If you haven't gotten to the bottom of why you were racking up credit or turning to credit cards, you may just recreate the same problem. A year from now when you do feel like you are bleeding interest rates, I would start shopping for a debt consolidation loan. Starting with your local credit union. Shopping around online looking for some online lenders because they tend to have fewer fees and be more affordable. Listen, I am not here to judge. It is so expensive in these streets I 100% can see how in just a few months you can have this much credit card debt and it weighs on you, it's really easy to just, like, stick your head in the sand. It's nice and dark in the sand. Even if it's scary, it's not going to go away just because you're avoiding it. And in fact, it may get even worse. For more judgment free money advice, listen to Brown ambition on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.

Stat of the day, as always. Brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick show gambling podcast available@danpatrick.com a little bit later on this afternoon. We will tape that when this show is over at a little after noon Eastern. And that's Shea and Irving. You got Dylan, the graphics guy, and you have Bad Larry. And occasionally they make some good bets, some good picks. More phone calls coming up. Robert in Sacramento. Hi, Robert. What's on your mind today?
Caller/Listener
Hey, Dan, how you doing?
Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman
Thanks for taking my call.
Caller/Listener
You know everyone.
Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman
Hello.
Caller/Listener
Sorry about that. You know, I'm a lifelong Dodger fan. I've had to get used to analytics. It's gotten us two World Series. I want to know what analysts said it's a good idea to run Kershaw out there for the ace. He did a great job in the seventh, got us out of it. How do you run him back out there?
Dan Patrick
I think it's a fair question. I was surprised. I hated to see it, you know, because I do. I like him. He's been very nice to us coming on the show. But still, my job is to call it as I see it. And you can't have feelings for Clayton Kershaw. You can't say, oh, they shouldn't put him out there. I'm sure he wants to be out there, or he would not refuse to take the ball. I mean, that's Clayton Kershaw. He wants to be out there. It's just once again, we get into postseason baseball and home runs follow. But I would not have him as a reliever. I would have him start a game, let him get prepared for the game, and instead of trying to insert him in, and I know you're trying to set up, you know, maybe you're pitching, you know, for today. I, I understand it. I just, He's. He's just not the guy that's a reliever. I just, I'd rather he. He got to prepare for a start and then see how he does instead of just insert him, you know, like they did. And you get four outs. I just thought one inning was enough.
Paulie
Yeah, Polly, does it bother you guys, now, we don't know baseball analytics. I clearly don't. But when you see a starter getting pulled after two or three or fewer innings in the. In the postseason, it feels like it's completely different game than the regular season. And the hooks are quick.
Dan Patrick
Well, you've seen that with a couple of pitching staffs because there is no tomorrow that they almost overanalyze the situation. But analytics makes no mistake about it. You know, there's certain teams that are all in with analytics. And if you heard the post game comments by Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter, they're sort of calling out the front office of the Yankees that Aaron Boone is not the problem for the Yankees. It's the front office. And I'm going to guess that's Brian Cashman and whoever else is on that staff that they are all in on analytics. It's basically, you give Aaron Boone your play sheet like this is what you do in this situation. You do this. It's almost as if they're trying to script what's going to happen. And I thought Jeter and a Rod, they didn't mince words. They're saying, he's not the problem. Analytics is the problem. It works for some teams. It also works when you have a big payroll. I don't know if we look at the Reds and go, boy, you got to credit their analytics here. Now, that would be a team where I'd go, oh, okay, if they relied on analytics or the Pirates or somebody like that, you know, Brewers. But these other teams that have big payrolls, you know, at some point you got to point to the players as. As well and not, you know, blame it on analytics. Analytics. I can put you in a position. Now it's up to you to do something with this situation. You're supposed to be the right person for this situation. Zach and Knoxville. Hi, Zach. What's on your mind?
Caller/Listener
Adp, thanks for taking my call. He said, Bill Belichick, if there was a problem, that he would solve it. Does that make him Vanilla Ice? And in this fake scenario, would Gordon Hudson be more Madonna or more Suge Knight?
Dan Patrick
Thank you, Zach. Given it that much thought, I did give this thought. Is New York overrated as a sports city? New York, New York has 10 professional teams, so four major sports leagues, they have combined for zero championships over the last 10 years. The one title that's been won by a New York team was the Liberty in wnba. I think we think of New York and you think of man, you can do it there. You can do it Anywhere, given the coverage. If I do the ratio of coverage to success, boy, that's a big disappointment. But 10 professional teams throughout the four major sports leagues, and they have zero championships over the last 10 years. Yes, Marvin.
Snax
Sorry. Don't kill me. I think the Yankees, 27 World Series titles, those are overrated because back back then, there were only two teams that made the postseason period, and that was just the World Series. If that was the case, the Dodgers will probably have five World Series during this current run. They would have lost to the St. Louis Browns in the ALDS at one point. They wouldn't have won 27 World Series titles.
Dan Patrick
Yes, Paul.
Paulie
The Yankees, no titles in 16 years. Mets, oh, for the last 39. New York Giants, they're usually quality. They haven't won a title in 12 years. That's not too bad. The jets, no playoff appearances in 16 seasons. Bills, good now, but haven't won it. If you want to call them a New York team, not a New York City team. The Knicks are over the last 53. I mean, the Nets have been better in the past 25 years as far as closer to a title.
Todd
The Cubs have been to the playoffs less times than the Yankees have World Series rings.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but you do.
Todd
That's even. That's even including the, like, current. Right, but we're sort of using the Yankees failure this season as a jumping off point. The Cubs don't even make it to the postseason. And even in the modern era where some of these ring, it's not valid or whatever, the Cubs don't even make it to the postseason. They had just as high a payroll for a decade as the Yankees and couldn't even make the playoffs.
Dan Patrick
Why are we picking on the Cubs?
Todd
Because it's fun to poke Paul when he's trying to poke New York City. Oh, New York City is sort of the capital of culture, I think, really, in some ways in. In this. In the country.
Dan Patrick
Yes, Todd.
Annette
I just got distracted because my scoreboard is wrong. I gave Jalen Hurts number two, and he's number one. I just noticed that this second, and it just really upset me. And I got a social media note going. What's with the scoreboard? Why do you have two and six? Jalen Hurts wears one. It was about the two quarterbacks playing tonight, and I don't like making mistakes, so it just threw me off.
Todd
I'm glad that you updated that right now.
Dan Patrick
That was very helpful. Thank you for bursting into programming here to tell me about your silly scoreboard.
Annette
Those who enjoy the snowboard, it should say 1 and 3. Back to regularly scheduled program already in progress.
Dan Patrick
Thank you, Todd, but that is a big drought. If you look at sports Cities, you know, 10 professional teams in four major sports leagues, you know, they got Rangers, Devils in there as well. Islanders in there, Mets bow out, Yankees bow out. The Knicks at least made a run this past year. Yeah, but. Yeah, I could see the little shot there back.
Todd
I throw the Devils in there.
Dan Patrick
Huh?
Todd
I don't know that I throw the New Jersey into the New York City sports teams, but.
Dan Patrick
Oh, so you don't, you don't want them.
Todd
Well, they're called the New Jersey Devils.
Dan Patrick
I know. Well, the Giants play in New Jersey. Yeah, they all do.
Todd
But they're called the New York Jets. The New York Giants. They should be the New Jersey jets and Giants, but they're not.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, they should be. Yeah.
Todd
Shout out to the devil's.
Dan Patrick
Steve in Miami. Hi, Steve.
Caller/Listener
Hey, good morning, Dan. First time caller, long time listener, a semi soft ozempic205. I just wanted to call and what I got to say is definitely not a hot take, but I think with this whole North Carolina Belichick deal is I think everybody's been sick of the circus act that he brought to town with this girl. And when things start going bad quick, they tend to get worse even quicker. And he doesn't look like his heart is into this job. And I think the alumni and the fans and the boosters, more importantly, are seeing that. And I think that's why they're calling for his head on stick.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but it happened quickly, though, that, you know, there were rumblings and we've spoken to reporters covering this and they'll be like, I don't know, I don't know. And then you'd be like, well, but it's Belichick. We'll give you the benefit of the doubt. I think having the girlfriend there made it easier open season on Belichick, because usually with Belichick it's, he'll figure it out on the football field, but he hasn't. And therefore, and I think that she's being singled out far more than she should be. This is on Bill. Bill would never allow this to happen in New England. Never. And he should put an end to it. As far as her involvement publicly, I think that would be beneficial to him and the program or at least the perception of what is going on there. Who is running the program. And you've got, you've got guys who are friends with Bill. And I was told this a couple of weeks ago By a source that guys are friends with Bill. Like, you keep your job, you're friends with Bill. You know, whether that's the case at North Carolina. But you've had guys on his staff that maybe shouldn't have been on his staff. So I think there's a lot of finger pointing there at Bill. It doesn't take away. You know, Fritzi, I think, jokingly said this a couple of days ago. Is Belichick coaching his way out of the hall of Fame? Well, it is the Pro Football hall of Fame. He'll never go into the College Football hall of Fame. So he's not coaching his way. He's coaching his way out of the concept of. That's the greatest coach of all time. You know, he's not. He. He. He's. You know, we're chipping away a little bit at that statue, the foundation of that statue. That. Yes. In Cleveland, maybe a little more patience there. What he did in New England, you know, we. We can't deny that that's irrefutable. But here in North Carolina, and maybe people are waiting for this as well. They were waiting for him to fail. And this is the. We don't like the way you did it. We think you're cheaters. Whatever. Whatever your bias is. But he always figured it out on the football field. He hadn't been able to do that.
Annette
Yes, Todd, would Belichick's ego allow himself to go out like that? Assuming he does have any kind of interest in coaching again and this ends very quickly at North Carolina, could that be. Could he live with that being the last chapter of his coaching career? This.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but what's he. What are the options?
Annette
He still has to be hired by a decent school, something he'd be interested in doing. But I'm just wondering.
Dan Patrick
No, he's not going to another college. No. I think he's finding out. And I'm shocked that Saban couldn't get through to him. To say, you don't want this, Bill. Knowing Bill's personality, you don't want this. If it was enough to drive Saban out of a great program that was playing for national championships, it's. It. Bill is not made for this kind of environment. He's just not. And. And maybe they salvaged something here, but his personality is not ready for college football. At least this, you know, new reincarnation of college football.
Paulie
Yeah, Paul, that's exactly right.
Annette
It's.
Paulie
The current state of college football is the opposite of the NFL. NFL, you have caps, you have schedules. There's no portal. Everything's under control. The players have zero control in the NFL. And he joined a league, college football, where the players are wagging the dog for the near future.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. And all of these great coaches are control freaks. And then when you can't, you know, Saban couldn't control anymore. When he could, he was dominating, you know, Dabo Sweeney. When you controlled, you know, you're playing for national championship now. You can't control it. So that's what's changing. We've seen this with, you know, Jay Wright at Villanova. He said, I, you know, I'm done with this. Coach K probably got out a year earlier. They just get to the point where it's like, no, I don't, I don't want to do this anymore. This isn't the way I was brought up. And how to coach a team, recruit a team. Now it's negotiations constantly, constant. Larry in Arkansas.
Todd
Hi, Larry.
Caller/Listener
Hey, Dan. How are you this morning?
Dan Patrick
Great, Larry.
Caller/Listener
Great, Gary. Hey, I have a question. We've talked about your retirement coming up, and we talked about the Dan eds and talked a little bit about their future and maybe what's going to go on. I'm a little bit curious with all the memorabilia you have, all that great stuff you have, what's going on with them? What's the plan for the memorabilia? I know you'll probably take some that, you know, it's very meaningful to you, but is it going to be, you know, auctioned off? Is it going to be, you know, donated? Just curious if you've had any thoughts on that.
Dan Patrick
I don't have any plans to close up the man cave. I don't know what's going to happen if there's another show that's in here, but I'm gonna keep the memorabilia. I love coming here on after work in the afternoon or on the weekends. And, you know, it's just all the stuff that I've collected for 40 years, so I don't know if I would sell anything. God, I keep everything. I don't know if I could go, you know, now I'm going to start to sell this stuff off. And a lot of this stuff doesn't mean anything to a lot of people. It does to me. But, you know, for the most part, it's just stuff that I've accumulated and didn't throw anything out. We'll take a break. Last call for phone calls. What we learned, what's in store tomorrow. And we'll try to accomplish all of that right after this. FOX Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Become a television writer because it does feel oddly like very traditional. It feels like Bob Dylan going electric, that this is something we've been doing for like hundreds of years. You carry with you a sense of purpose and confidence.

I'm Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman, host of the Psychology Podcast. Here's a clip from an upcoming conversation about exploring human pot. I was going to schools to try to teach kids these skills and I get eye rolling from teachers or I get students who would be like, it's easier to punch someone in the face. When you think about emotion regulation, like you're not going to choose an adaptive strategy which is more effortful to use unless you think there's a good outcome as a result of it. If it's going to be beneficial to you. Because it's easy to just say like, like go blank yourself, right? It's easy. It's easy to just drink the extra beer. It's easy to ignore, to suppress seeing a colleague who's bothering you and just like walking the other way. Avoidance is easier. Ignoring is easier. Denial is easier. Drinking is easier. Yelling, screaming is easy. Complex problem solving. Meditating, you know, takes effort. Listen to the psychology podcast on the iHeartRadio app. Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.

Last call for phone calls. What we learn what's in store tomorrow. I just saw the menu for Meat Friday. It's Puerto Rican pork shoulder. Is that Pernell? Pernil? Is that what it's called? Maybe. If somebody can ask Dylan that. Puerto Rican pork shoulder and fish tacos tomorrow for Meat Friday. No, no, not yet. Not yet. Yeah, okay. Mike in Jacksonville. Hi Mike. What's on your mind today?
Caller/Listener
Hey, Dan. I've only called in a few times in the past, but only when I'm passionate about something. I'm as passionate about Italian subs as Fritz is about onion bagels, Ross Tucker, spicy mustard and American cheese. Why do you have to blast me the Italian sub like that? You Know, enjoy it as you want, call it what you want. Do not call that an Italian sub. And then I'm sure your wife and her family would agree it's oil and vinegar or mozzarella and provolone.
Dan Patrick
All right, thank you, Mike. Thank you, Mike. I saw this article, Fritz. He printed it out for me and it talked about Anthony Davis is about 20 pounds heavier than he was last year. And I don't think It's a good 20 pounds heavier. This is the same organization that was concerned about Lucas weight and health and moved on from him because, well, that. And he wasn't playing defense. But Anthony Davis is 20 pounds, I think, over his normal playing weight. I don't want to say overweight, but by eyewitnesses accounts, he doesn't look like he's in shape.
Paulie
Yes, Paulie, it's how you position it. If you say I'm bulking up to handle the rigors of the NBA season, it sounds like a good thing. If you said, I've gotten slovenly and I'm getting a little loose, that's not good.
Dan Patrick
No, I think he said, you know, hey, I play at this weight, but, you know, I want to bulk up. And it doesn't matter he's injury prone. It doesn't matter how big he is or lean he is or any of that. It just seems that he's going to be injured. The question is, what kind of injury is it going to be, Greg, in Daytona. Hi, Greg. What's on your mind?
Caller/Listener
Hello, dan. Hello, Dan. At. I was fortunate enough to grow up in the 1950s, and I heard you guys talking. One fellow there, one of your Danettes, said about the 27 Yankees. The Yankees won six World Series during the 50s. With Casey Stangle at the helm, we had three professional baseball teams within a five mile radius. We had the Yankees in the Bronx, we had the Giants in up in Manhattan, and of course, we had Ebbets Field with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Fabulous times. One little tidbit. Why do they call them the Dodgers? Because back then with the streetcars people, in order for people to get to Ebbets Field, they had to dodge the streetcars. So they called them the Dodgers.
Dan Patrick
All right, thank you, Greg. Greg, Speaking on behalf of New York and not talking about the 1927 Yankees, but in the 50s. Yes, Marvin, yes.
Snax
The 27 World Series titles. They wouldn't have them if they were in today's current playoff format.
Dan Patrick
That's what you're trying to say.
Snax
Correct.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Todd
Because back then you actually had to. The regular season mattered and you actually had to win as many games as possible. Now you just have to win just enough games to get into the postseason and then you guys get to do a whole other roster built for the postseason.
Snax
Correct. The Marlins don't have any World Series titles in that. In that old format.
Todd
Or any Fans talk about the 50s Marlins, by the way. We don't talk enough about them.
Dan Patrick
What, Todd.
Annette
Or any fans, according to Marlin, as far as titles. And they don't have much of a fan base these days. Took a little shot earlier today.
Dan Patrick
It's accurate.
Annette
If you look at the numbers, the attendance is not good.
Dan Patrick
I didn't know this was going to turn into a feud today. It was, you know, New York sports and you know, the real question is.
Todd
Which state has the best uniforms. Let's just do that then.
Dan Patrick
That's right up Paulie's alley. Which. Which cities have the best uniform?
Paulie
Do a month on that we could.
Todd
Do easily finish out the week. New York v. Chicago v. Los Angeles uniform.
Dan Patrick
Do you want to have anything to say and defend Chicago?
Paulie
Oh, Chicago sports team versus New York. Yeah. I think the Blackhawks have three titles in the past 20 years. Rangers been a long time. The Mets, mets are what, 73. Mets 86. Mets. The White Sox were.05. In the past 40 years, the Knicks have won. The Bulls have six the past 10 years. The Yankees have zero. The Cubs have one. So in recent history, it's not even close.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Any other. Todd, you have something. You got ammo here, too.
Annette
We've mentioned this before. Do you like Pittsburgh going all in on the black and yellow or do you like a city that mixes up the colors so just kind of have a rainbow of colors for the different teams? It's a very important question.
Dan Patrick
Very, very.
Annette
But I would like your opinion. I don't know if you ever definitively said, do you like that they're all in on black and yellow, the Penguins and Pirates.
Dan Patrick
You're the, you're the only New Yorker here and you're not even in the discussion here. Now you're talking about.
Annette
My teams are in Houston and Denver. I don't care about.
Todd
I kind of like the all like one city, one set of colors thing. I think. I think I do. But it only works in cities that you only have one sports team, like a team in each sport.
Annette
Right.
Todd
So like New York, you can't do that. Louisiana. You can't do that. But for lots of other cities you can. I kind of like actually one city, one team per sport in each City.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Todd
Even though I know that like places like New York and L. A are too big. But I think it's better when a whole city rallies around one team rather than, you know, are you a Mets or a Yankees fan?
Dan Patrick
Anybody calling for the upset tonight with the Giants hosting the Eagles getting seven points. Any takers on that? No. Okay. Yes. Todd.
Annette
I think the fact of the way the bronco game went down is going to make the Eagles, you would think, even angrier birds and this should be a blowout. And if they don't win by like, at least to me, 13 points, then.
Dan Patrick
I don't know what's going on.
Annette
The defending champs got embarrassed on their home field. They've got to take it out on the Giants in primetime.
Dan Patrick
Are you giving 13 points?
Annette
I'm not going to take a pie to the face, but I will say that I think the Eagles should win by double digits. I would be shocked if they don't come out and just really work the Giants over after the way last weekend.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Annette
I'm sticking to it.
Dan Patrick
All right.
Annette
Should be at least a 10 point win.
Dan Patrick
Quite a claim there. Quite a claim. Don in Dover. Hey, don.
Caller/Listener
Hey, good morning. 511 and a Seamoth 185. Good morning, Dan and Annette. I just want to shout out Heather early earlier from Indiana. That was a great call. But also sorry, Paulie, but I wanted to say, I wanted to bring up the matchup on Monday night between the commanders and the Bears. If Jaden Daniels beats, you know, Caleb again in the head to head matchup with last time being the hail Mary, this time being, you know, now the Bears with two and three will be like close to the Eagles. If the bear season tends to go downward this year again, could it be in Polly again, you never mentioned the Bears in that, you know, rant. But yeah, could this be really bad for the Bears?
Dan Patrick
Okay, this is where I would say how about some patience? I know we've seen Caleb for a couple of years, but let's be patient with Ben Johnson. Let's, let's see how this develops because I would think that you're on an uptick here and I think Caleb will benefit from having stability there as your head coach, offensive coordinator. The weapons that they have. Do I think Jaden is better? Yes, Jaden has shown that he's a better quarterback right now, but that doesn't mean Caleb can't catch him and can't be a better quarterback. But I think, you know, having wanting to be a great quarterback and listening to somebody help you be a great quarterback. Those are sometimes two different things. Todd, what'd you learn today?
Annette
Monica? And Raleigh laments the fact that it's now time to turn her attention to the top hill basketball team since football is such a disaster.
Dan Patrick
Seaton, what'd you learn today?
Todd
I think we're having pork shoulder tomorrow. That's what I learned today.
Dan Patrick
Yes, we are. Yes. Marvin, what'd you learn?
Snax
Fritz he thinks we're 8 year olds.
Annette
Peanut butter and jelly and grilled cheese sandwiches.
Paulie
Paul Ross, Tucker Breakfast sandwiches Questionable.
