So you're telling me that the AI that's meant to make everyone's job easier to manage just adds more to manage? On top of the thousands of apps the IT department already manages? Funny how that works. Any business can add AI. IBM helps you scale and manage AI to change how you do business. Let's create Smile to Business IBM. This is Rob Gronkowski from Dudes on Dudes with Gronk and jules. For the second season in a row, I partnered with T Mobile's Friday night 5G lights, powering up hometown football across America. This year T mobile invested over $4 million in prizes to help schools take their Friday nights to the next level. Now it's time to crown our $1 million grand prize winner. A huge congrats to Derrick's High school in Derrick's, Arkansas, home of the Outlaws and your 2020 5T mobile Friday night 5G lights champion. They scored a home field upgrade, Gronk Fitness weight room, a 2026 tailgate party and an all expense paid trip to the SEC Championship game. To every school that competed, posted and rallied your communities. Thank you and a big thanks to T Mobile for making it all possible and helping communities shine under the Friday night lights. This season may be over, but the story isn't. Stay tuned for season three in 2026. Okay, only 10 more presents to wrap. You're almost at the finish line. But first. There the last one. Enjoy a Coca Cola for a pause that refreshes. Season two of unrivaled basketball is here and the talent is unreal. Paige Beckers, Nafiza Collier, Kelsey Plumb, Brianna Stewart and more are back to redefine the game. Unrivaled basketball season two, sponsored by Samsung Galaxy Tips off January 5th on TNT, TruTV and HBO Max. You are listening to the Dan Patrick show on Fox Sports Radio. Game of the Year Question mark. Tonight, the Rams at the Seahawks. The Rams are one and a half point underdogs over under 42 and a half for entertainment purposes only. Speaking of gambling, the gambling podcast, Shane Irving, Dylan and also Bad Larry. We'll record that after the show here in about an hour from now. Tua is benched, but more than that, deactivated. So he's the emergency quarterback. He's the third string quarterback. They play the Bengals coming up this weekend. Here is the Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel on why he is starting Quinn Ewers. I think Quinn gives this team the best chance to win. You know, our focus is obviously to win the next three games, but in particular, like I tell the players, we are focused on beating the Bengals. So that was the motivation. Zach will be backing them up and two will be the emergency, emergency third. Okay, this is what I don't understand. Quinn Ewers now gives you a better chance. Two is healthy. So what has Quinn yours been your best option? You just didn't want to get to the point where you were going to bench him or wait until you were out of the playoff picture. Quinn yours has thrown eight passes now. He does have better arm, but did he all of a sudden become a better quarterback in the last week or so? This is a tua. Thank you. Some nice parting gifts for you. Feels like it's hard to come back from this now. I don't know if Mike McDaniel is going to be there next year, but it felt like he kept his job because of his relationship and development of Tua. And Tua has had moments of greatness, but it feels like he's regressed now. He's been healthy. That's what that was. My big question. Could he stay healthy? That's why I wouldn't have given him the contract. I would have made him earn that contract and as a result you wouldn't be on the hook for all of this money. And now you got a Russell Wilson situation. Yes, Marvin, but before this loss to the Steelers, they won the last four games. I know. So were they just waiting for two of the mess up so they could put Quinn Ewers in the game? I don't know if it was that tenuous. I think we're going to find out more about this at the end of the season. But Quinn yours. Okay, give him a shot. But I don't know if he gives you a better chance unless you say we need to have something. We need to have a spark here. 8773 DP Show Email address dpdanpatrick.com Twitter handle @dpshow yes, Paulie and I wonder if the Dolphins look at themselves and say we're not competing with the Patriots with Drake May. We're not competing with the Bills with our quarterback going against the Bills quarterback. They've got three third round draft picks this year. They've made some trades. They Got a first rounder and a second rounder. It could be a complete reset and try something else. But then why didn't they trade Waddle? I mean, if you're gonna. They sort of rebuilt. I don't know. They would have traded Tyreek Hill if he'd stayed healthy. But I. I don't know. I just. I'm trying to figure this out of. We're going to get rid of some pieces, but we're still going to try to compete. And now all of a sudden you made a declaration here. Now you're saying we're moving on from. From Tua. So he's deactivated for the Dolphins. As for their opponent, Joe Burrow had some comments just about on how he feels. I like playing football for the same reasons that I wanted to push to come back from injury. Same reasons I want to play this week. It feels like everything. Everybody's trying to do everything in their power to make me not play football, and I feel like I'm fighting it, like fighting everybody else. I just want to play. I just want to play ball. That's all I want to do. Is there any world in your mind where you're not the quarterback of the Bengals next year? I can't see that, no. Have you ever both thought about the possibility of not being the quarterback here during your career or. You think about a lot of things. I don't know if we're fighting him. We. We weren't fighting him. We were commending him for coming back. He came back earlier than we thought. He came back and people thought maybe you just shut him down for the rest of the year after the. The injury and the surgery. So feels like he's fighting himself. He's the one that brought it up. You know, he asked the question, but know he started going down a dark hole, started to talk about, you know, I'm 29, it's not fun. I want it to be fun. Those are his comments. He's fighting himself. This isn't fun, but I want it to be fun. I want to continue to play. Okay, good. Continue to play. You get that opportunity. You get paid to play. You got your receivers, you got what you wanted on offense. Why do you guys not score against the Ravens? I mean, that's a total no show and inexcusable, but I want Joe burrow to play 10 more years. Why wouldn't I? Why wouldn't anybody say, oh, like, you know what, why don't you retire now if you don't want to play or you want to play elsewhere. Well, now we have a different conversation, but that's still you fighting you. I. I don't think the media is rooting for you to not play football. Travis Kelsey, he has his podcast with his brother, so just listen to what he says in how he refers to the Kansas City Chiefs talking about Patrick Mahomes coming back. He's. He's a fearless, fearless warrior when it comes to this football thing. And he's going to make sure that he comes back stronger than ever. And hopefully the Chiefs can get him back as. As soon as possible. I know right now it's kind of right around that week one or the beginning of the season next year, so I know he's going to be doing everything he can to get back. Back out on that field for the Chiefs as soon as possible. Man, Travis, where's the Wii? Why is he saying that? He makes it seem like he's his brother and he's already in the media. What are you doing? I wish him all the best going forward. It's like he's talking about the Bills, that he's the same. Exact. Yeah. Hopefully, you know, hopefully Micah gets back there for the packers as soon as possible. Whoa. What the heck? Where's the we? What about us? And he said. He said it twice. The Chiefs. And gets back to help The Chiefs. Those guys gets back to help me get more catches and I come back one more year. Unless I'm not coming back because we need him in the locker room. Yeah. Yes. Todd would have been great if someone would have said we. Well, I. I would have said. You totally would have said Travis. You mean we? Just to hear what he would say. Oh, of course, of course, of course. Yeah, of course. All right, couple of phone calls here. Adam in la. Good morning, Adam. What's on your mind today? Hey, good morning, dp. How are you guys doing? Great. Hey, just wanted. Thanks, man. Just want to call and say one love always. The interviews are always very entertaining with Michael Irvin. You really bring out his true inner being. I got a chance to meet him one time. You're right. His energy is on another level. Hard to match two. Obviously. I'm excited about the game tonight. Just wanted to see if there's any takers for any pies in the face. If I did lose, I'm sure my kids would enjoy it. So just seeing if I got any takers out there. Okay. So you're taking the Rams in Seattle? Of course. Okay. I just want to make sure that I got, you know, straight up. Even though the Line is one and a half, but you're not getting that. Does anybody want a piece of Adam? Does anybody have Seattle winning tonight? Seaton, 100%. All right, Adam Seaton will take you up on the pie to the face. Sounds good. Any. Any kind of pie works for me. All right. Yeah, we'll work on that. Yeah. What kind of pie am I getting tomorrow, Todd? I was gonna let you decide. You know, I don't know if. Cherry, blueberries, something nice and colorful and messy. Blueberry. Okay. No, I. I was. I was just saying it out loud. I'm thinking blueberry. It's all. You know what? It's up to you. It's the holiday season, so you should be able to choose an apple pie. Is that okay? Whatever you like. Or a cream pie. Seasons of greetings. Okay. Pick what you want. All right, I'll. I'll have the back room. Guys, go and get something. Whip it up. Once again. We're playing nice. We're not. You're not smashing me like Michael Irvin did. If you don't trust me, someone else can give you the pie. The bed is basically you getting a pie in the face. No, no, no. But I want to see if you're going to do it because you have done it where you're a little aggressive, and then you had one where you put it on my hair. If I do a passive aggressive pie in the face, I'm not sure what that exactly entails. Just. Just a pie to the face. And don't put it on your top of your head. Do not put it on the hair. Don't mess up, but mess the hair. Yes, because then I request. Because I. You know what? Don't make me have another pie by my side and then I get to smack. I'm just saying. Yes. If. If you go above and beyond and try to inflict some damage here, I have a feeling I'm going to be extra gentle for the holidays. All right, that sounds good. Extra gentle. Tony in California. Good morning, Tone. Hey, guys. Good morning. Beautiful day. Thank you. So I just wanted to value guys opinion, you guys opinion because you guys are so nice. But the banner thing. I decided I'm gonna hang a banner in my house, and I wondered if anything's banner worthy. When I was nine, I beat Mickelson in a junior golf tournament. San Diego junior golf. I placed third, though I didn't win the tournament. Is that banner worthy? Sure, why not? Hey, you only have to answer to you if you put up a banner and. Or if you're you know, the LA Kings. And you take down Taylor Swift's banner. I mean, you have to answer for that. I still can't believe they did that. We got to look into that. Yes, Todd. And she sings songs about karma to do that to Taylor Swift. The Kings may never win a cup again. Yeah. Yeah. Let's see. Randall in Virginia. Hi, Randall. What's on your mind? Hey, dp, how's it going? Great. A few things. First, I'd like to submit a write in ballot for the poll question. As much as I love Michael Irving, as a lifelong Cowboys fan, I would want to write in Johnny pete, Johnny Manzo, 2010 to maybe 2015. As far as who I would want to party with. All right. I don't think Johnny's on Michael Irvin's level. Just saying. But Johnny would. It would have been fun. He might be fun now. I don't know. Yes, Marv. He's not on his level as a partier or as a player. Wow. Wow. Although he did have one of the greatest seasons in college football history. Oh, without question. Yes. I mean, you cannot take that away from him. Mike Evans could, but. Wow. Wow. I just, you know, I forget at the, at the moment where I think it was Mike Evans in the NFL and I go, oh, my God. Any kind of, you know, 50, 50 ball. Mike Evans was bringing it down. It's amazing. Johnny, like, he just gets out of the pocket somehow he just throws it up and finds his receiver. Look, only he could put it in that window right there. And then you realize, look at that window. He put it in. He put it right in that window. Mike Evans was, you know, so underrated because we kept thinking, that's just Johnny being Johnny. That's, that's magic. And all of a sudden, Johnny doesn't play in the NFL. And then Mike, Mike Evans is going to the hall of Fame. Yeah. Yeah. Paul Manzel's first year at A&M, 3700 yards passing, 26 touchdowns, nine picks, wins the Heisman. His second, by the way, rushing that year. 1400 yards rushing and 21 TDs, which led the SEC in rushing and rushing. TD. That, to me, is what's mind boggling. So in 13 games. Yeah. His second year in college, which he finished fifth in Heisman, he threw for. He was a 70% passer, 4200 yards, 37 touchdowns. He was a better passer. Yeah. Wow. What did he run for that? He cut it down to 750 yards rushing and nine touchdowns. Yeah. Which for anyone else would have Been unbelievable. Barb in Illinois. Hi, Barbara. How are you? Great. Barn just calling. Forgot to tell you guys one thing. I'm in Rockford, home of Keep Trick. We have a banner here from Rexander and the Boys live at Buddha Con. It's in the Metro Center. And secondly, I was wondering if you think Mike McDonald is pulling a c y A on himself to cover instead of tua a cya. Cover your ass. There you go. Okay. All right. Bar Bar. Bringing the heat. Yeah. Live at Budokan. Was that a double album? I think it might have been. I had. I had Cheap Trick. I. I had a. There was an event called the Fairway to Heaven in Las Vegas, and it was a bunch of musicians, and I went out there with Hootie and the Blowfish, and it was a golf tournament. And I remember one night, Rick Nielsen, who was the guitar player for Cheap Trick, and he was a fan of SportsCenter, and he sits down, we start talking, and he said, do you want to go up to my room? And I said, well, what are we doing up there? He goes, I. I've come up with this. It's for your breath, and it's a little piece of, like, you know, I don't know what you would describe it. So, I mean, they have these things now, so it dissolves. It's almost like a piece of plastic that dissolves, and it's for your breath. And so I didn't go up to his room, but he did show me this. And I was thinking, who's gonna buy that? You know? And then all of a sudden, I don't know if he took it to market. I just remember he's like, do you want to come up to my room? And then he had these little breath strips, and I think they still sell those things. Yes, Todd. That's kind of fascinating. Thank you, Todd. Yes, Paul? He asked you to go to his room, and the name of his band is Cheap Trick. It's almost too obvious. And I would have gone there if he had a better reason than just, hey, I got these breath strips. And are you like, so are you showing me your invention, or are you telling me I need your invention? Is this like, hey, look at this cool thing I did, or are you saying that I have really bad breath? I can't really tell. Maybe both. Maybe both. Why do you have to go up to his room? There's got to be other places where he can just show you the little. Well, I think it was up there for some reason, but I just remember he showed me this. And I was like, here, put it on now. I didn't know what I was putting on my freaking tongue, you know, could be a tab of something. Who knows? But he was like, oh, you know, try this. And then all of a sudden it dissolves. And I'm going, who's gonna buy this? And then all of a sudden, who knows? He probably made millions and millions of dollars. Very bright guy and. And fun and Cheap Trick, Surrender. That was Seaton said, was that one of your anthems growing up? Nah, that's one of those. If, like, aliens landed here and they wanted me to explain rock and roll, I would. That's one of the songs I would play. Dang. Yeah. Like, explain what rock and roll is. I would play. That's one of the songs for sure. Cheap Trick, Surrender. Okay, what other songs? If aliens came down and you say you want to hear rock and roll. That's rock and roll. Yes. Todd, didn't you trick. If I want you to want me. Was that a big no? No. Figures. That's the one. I, I to want me. That was not good. This next song, the first song on our new album, I would say that you had to have a stone song in there, I guess. Oh, well, if we need to. But you know what? I wouldn't have a Beatles song on there. Fair. If it's rock and roll. I mean, maybe Helter Skelter. Helter Skelter? Could be. That might scare them. Yes, Marvin. Black Sabbath War Pigs. Sure. That's a good one. That's a good one. I know. I'm just not a Sabbath guy. That's a great song, though. Mr. Crowley. Yes, Paul? We're talking bangers. Not necessarily banger. So, like Cashmere by led Zeppelin. Bob O'Reilly by the who. Bangers. Whether you like the who or not, it's not even debatable. I would have picked a different Zeppelin. But Baba O'Reilly by the who, the kids won't get. Kids won't Get Fooled Again. If we needed to include their one good song. I can't get Seaton. I can't get him to understand good music. I mean, I try. I try. If that's good music. Okay. I don't want to be wrong if I want to be right. God, they had such an impact on rock and roll. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. One of the great guitar players of all time, he had a crazy drummer. Roger Daltrey, an unbelievable lead singer. John Entwistle, the bass player. All hall of famers in their own right. Yes, Todd, you could have an impact on something, but it's not necessarily a good impact. Yeah, speaking from experience. Exactly. How about we take a break here? You had to jump in, didn't you? I set you up for that one. Set myself up. Let's take a break here. More phone calls come. More phone fun, fun calls back after this. More phone calls coming up. We stumbled on. If aliens came down to earth and you wanted to introduce them to rock and roll, this would be up there. This would be one of those songs, right? How about Nirvana? Well, keen spirit if you only got five songs. Oh, five. It's not like an endless playlist. You only get five songs. Okay. That you have to. You got your five. I feel like at one point in time I did. I don't know if I do right now, but I could put it together. I could figure it out. Todd, I don't know if you know any rock and roll. Sweet child of mine. Okay. I also like ZZ Top Legs. Does that fit? Just got legs. Like to Hot for teachers. I was gonna say. What are some of the other creepy ones? Yeah, we're introducing the aliens to creepy rock zones here. Yes, Paulie, I would say a top five. Obviously. Spirit of the Radio by Rush, Under Pressure, Bowie and Queen. That'd be in the top five. Really? Under pressure is a. It just reaches a crescendo, though. And those are two legends yeah, but I don't know if it's rock and roll. Oh boy. I don't know. Like We Are the Champions by Queen. Great song. But I the idea of Bowie and Freddie Mercury. Well, we could have Bowie and Mick Jagger doing their song. Oh, no, no, no. Two legends. Two legends. I was sent this a couple of days ago. And these are stadiums. The, the team that plays there, the surface, if it's open air, if it's a dome, and then it has things like independent rating for non contact ACL injuries. Then it would be a rating for non contact Achilles tendon injuries. Then there was a column for high ankle sprains. So this is the information. Now they say either high, moderate or low with all those categories for these stadiums. For instance, the MetLife Giants and the Jets, ACL, non contact high, Achilles injury, non contact high, high ankle sprain. Hi. You don't want to play on that field, that surface. Now here's another one. Sofi Stadium, Rams, Chargers, you have non contact ACL injuries high, non contact Achilles high. Then it's moderate with a high ankle sprain. But they go on to have hamstring injuries. Sofi Stadium is ranked high and then they'll have a moderate Liz Franc injury. So great detail on this. How about Ford Field with the Lions? So they would have high for acl, non contact high for Achilles, and then they would high up high for hamstring injuries. So these are all rankings. The NFL has all of this information. You know the Vikings and the Cowboys, their field, non contact ACL ranked high. Yeah. So these are just some of the rankings that, that they have. This is NFL stadium playing surface injury risk index for every stadium. Let me see if I can get, see if somebody's low, low, low, low, low. Oh yeah, there's a lot of them. These are considered low for all of these other categories. Packers, Eagles, Steelers, Chiefs, Broncos, Jags, Dolphins, Browns, Niners, Ravens, Commanders, Buccaneers and the Bears. They're all either low or moderate. But then you have a couple of those up top at MetLife Stadium. SoFi Stadium. The Lions, Vikings and the Cowboys have some high rankings or high incidents of, of these injuries. Non contact injuries. And that's what was confusing to me about Micah Parsons. It's non contact. But we talked to RG3 yesterday and he suffered the same injury as Patrick Mahomes. It was just a different knee, but acl, lcl and you, you have these non contacts. And it could be the field, it could be the shoes, just bigger, stronger players trying to turn, twist, move. But the Non contact. I understand how Patrick Mahomes got hurt. Micah Parsons, it's like Dan Marino went back to pass and blew out his Achilles. Like just going back to pass. Kevin Durant, kind of a casual. Oh, yes, Eden. When you look at that list that you just ran down, there's a very clear split between the green and the red. Yeah. And the bottom, 12, 13, 14 teams that are all in the green are all on grass. You have every single one of them. Now, Michael Parsons was on grass. I get that. So, like, it's not when. When we talk about the difference between grass and turf, it doesn't mean 100% one way, 100% the other way, but it's the likelihood of it that people are talking about. And when you look at this bottom, I don't know, it might be 14 teams. Yeah. They all play on grass, and then all of a sudden it starts getting yellow and red, and that's when turf starts getting introduced. Yeah, great point. The Bermuda grass is a lot of these fields. Kentucky bluegrass, a lot of these fields. The Eagles have grass master. The packers have a hybrid grass in there. So if you're going to make the argument natural or artificial players want to play on natural turf. Yeah. Paul, Based off what you guys are saying, do you think it'd be best for the NFL players if both game services and practice services throughout the league were the exact same at every stadium where there's just one field and we find a partner and that's it? You would think they would have already done that. Now, I don't know if the NBA uses the same surface for all of its stadium or all of its basketball floors. I don't know that. But you would think you would want to have uniformity the best you can. I mean, there are hockey rinks that aren't the same size. So not every hockey rink, or at least it used to be, not every hockey rink was the same dimensions. Yes. You know, I don't know if you can do that. I think in theory it sounds right, but I don't know that the field in Miami is going to be the same as the field in Green Bay just because of the weather. The weather and the conditions, you know, all your environment is going to impact how the field is, you know? You know, so I think that that's something that would have to be taken into consideration. But you, you would imagine there would be some more uniformity than maybe than what they're currently is. I don't know. Fritz, he said that maybe it's only appropriate that it's MetLife insurance. If you're going to play there, sounds like there's a good chance you're going to get significantly injured on that thing. I wondered, you know, when I asked RG3, did you consider suing the commanders, the Redskins at the time, like bad conditions? You put me out here on a playing surface that led to the downfall of my career, and you just kind of smiled. He said, nah, you don't want to sue the team that you're playing for if you're still in the NFL. Doug in Cincinnati. Good morning, Doug. What's on your mind today? Good morning, Dan. I called in about the question. Oh, first time ever. 611 58. I called in about the who you would party with question because, you know, partying could go two ways. You could either just be a guy you go out drinking with, and then there's guys who got way more extracurriculars. When we get to the real partiers, Eddie Miller, Doc Gooden, and Daryl Strawberry in one room. Lord have mercy. All right. Thank you, Doug. Well, certainly with Doc. Didn't Doc miss the parade? That was so sad. And. And look, I met Doc when he was 19. Met his father, got to know them, and the Mets did the best they could to kind of insulate him. And. And I. I loved being around Daryl Strawberry. He was. He was a nice person. He. He was. And I was a nobody. And. And he gave me time if I needed an interview when I was out there with the Mets. But Doc is partying and he misses. Was that the Yankees or the Mets? The Mets parade. He went out with the team to a club, according to an interview with him with cbs. And then he went to his dealer's place and stayed up all night, fell asleep and woke up the morning, turned it on, and there is a parade on tv. I mean, it's sad. They said he had an illness. The Mets issued a release. Yeah, sad, sad. Yeah. Todd, he watched, supposedly from a Long island apartment, drug dealers playing. He might have addressed that with us when we had him on at one point. Tommy in Madison. Hi, Tommy. What's on your mind? Hey, Dan. All this talk of field size. I wonder what size the baskets are back in Hickory. I wonder if there's the still 10ft. When you talk about hanging out with people from the 90s. I'm gonna have to throw this guy in here. I'd love to hang with him. Dennis Rodman. Yes. I'll wear the wedding dress, too. Rodman for the win. Okay. I did it one night at the Crowbar in Chicago. And there were a couple of members of the media were there. Craig Sager was there. And I remember Dennis was there, and he had a. A Chicago police shirt on and he had a hat on. He had his arm around a guy and a girl, and they were standing off to the side of the bar. And the entire bar. So you go in, you go up the second floor. The entire bar was kamikaze. And if you went to the bar, even if you ordered a beer, you had to do a kamikaze. Well, Dennis was doing a shot. He was doing a kamikaze with you. Everybody who went up to get a beer, James Edwards was in there. There were a few players in there. And I just remember the next morning, the Bulls had practice and, you know, I have to go. I'm going to get some interviews. And I'm looking out because I'm thinking, Dennis can't be here. And he is just bouncing up and down like he's on a pogo stick. He was full of energy, just running up and down, running up and down. Steve Kirk goes, how do you feel? I go. He goes, yeah, I heard you went out with Dennis. I said, well, I was in the room. He goes, yeah, you gotta. Or he's a professional. He's a professional. Like, yeah, I think that night he had 20 rebounds. Like you're just going to. That was. That was a normal night. It felt like for him. Denny in Orlando. Hi, Denny. What's on your mind today? Hey, Dan, how are you? Good, good. Grew up in the Boston area and idolize you growing up. We all did all your terms on SportsCenter. So I just had one thing to say about the Travis Kelsey situation with him. Speaking as Dan Patrick would say, I believe Travis Kelsey is gone. Gone. It. It felt like that. Now if he was on. And I would say, okay, what are you saying here and where's the we? And then just see what he says because I'm surprised his brother didn't. And now, unless his brother already knows that Travis is playing or not playing, maybe not playing, then maybe he's not going to put pressure on his brother until the season is over, I'm guessing. But I was just surprised that he made it seem like Patrick Mahomes is going back to some team next year and not the team that he's on. Dave in Cincinnati. Good morning, Dave. How can I help you? Hey, Dan. What you drinking? Water. Good. Hey, I just had a compliment and a question. The compliment is you guys are definitely the gold Trans Am of sports radio. Well, thank you. Thank you. And we didn't get it illegal. Yeah, that's right. The question I had was, just get your input on this is that, you know, it seems like, you know, people are saying that college football is going the direction of pro football. I'm kind of afraid that it's going the direction of pro baseball, that, you know, it's going to be the has and have nots again. And, and, you know, and then it's going to be, you know, you know, the whole, you know, the big teams will be able to buy their way into the playoffs, and then the small schools will be left out again. Yeah, but it's been this way and nothing's really changed. I mean, some of these teams aren't as good as they used to be. Nebraska and Oklahoma, they got all kinds of talent. Yeah. And what you got away with back then, if your players were on something or they were getting, you know, some kind of monetary inducements to go there. I mean, all of these things happened. Michigan and Ohio State, they would hoard, like, their backups, and then their backups. Backups could start for just about anybody. The U did this, they'd have like four running backs, and all four would end up in the NFL. So it. It is changing in a. In a way that you can, like Texas Tech, kind of buy your way into the playoffs. You know, now there's a different formula. Do this. All you need is a couple of big boosters, because you're going to get your money, you'll have nil money, and then you're going to have your collectives. Well, the money that your collectives have, that can be the difference, because as a source said yesterday, you know, you're going to get a quarterback between three and four million dollars. That's the going rate. And then your collectives, you need to tack on about $20 million more than what the nil money is, and then you got a team that can compete. But if you don't have that, then, no, you're not going to be able to. Now, Tulane doesn't have to spend that kind of money because of their conference. James Madison doesn't have to. So they're kind of playing by different rules. Hey, we play in this conference. If we win this conference, we get to play in the playoffs. Now, they're not better than Notre Dame, but they did what they're supposed to do. And they don't have to spend. They don't have $40 million. They may not have $20 million. But win your conference and then you can get in according to the rules that exist now. Last call for phone calls. I just went out in the kitchen, see what we're whipping up. And Dylan is going to make chili. Be a nice Friday. Chili. I don't know what else, but I know that he's working on that as we speak. And I gotta figure I gotta get a pie to the face that would go along with chili. Like what would accompany that. And I think I'm gonna go apple. Is that all right, Don? Yeah, that seems. I mean, it's not as colorful. Might not be as good a content. That's okay. A gentle apple pie heading into Christmas. Nothing wrong with that. Do you want to put some whipped cream on it? I thought I'd kind of throw some eggnog over your head if we're gonna go all the way with the Christmas spirit. No. Well, we should do a little whipped cream on the apple. But we don't drink eggnog any other time of the year, do we? We don't. I don't think anyone really drinks that, like in May. Is that a windbreaker you got on? It is an old school DP windbreaker. I. I don't use that expression. Windbreaker as much as I used to. Be a good time to use it. I think this would be considered a windbreaker. You got a windbreaker? Light jacket? Yeah. What's the T shirt underneath? T shirt underneath is. Whoa. That zipper means Los Angeles Rams came in the mail yesterday. Los Angeles Rams shirt. Wait, why did you get it? I got a bunch of stuff from my son who recently thought you meant it came here. No, no, it came. I ordered this as a gift with a bunch of other things because that's now my second favorite team. So I wanted to wear something Rams underneath. Okay. Good luck for tonight. But if the Rams played the Broncos, I would have to rip for the Broncos. Broncos are my team. Okay. I made that very clear with my son. And that's just the way it is. If they meet each other in the super bowl for some reason, they keep the one seeds and go all the way. I got riffy. Denver. Are you more of a weird with the Broncos than Travis Kelsey is with the Chiefs? Yes. Okay. As long as Bo Nicks keeps that win streak alive and we keep going forward, that they're definitely a week. I love it. I love it. Scott in Fort Wayne. Hi, Scott. What's on your mind today? Hi, dad. I was thinking this week, with hindsight being 20 20, I just wonder if Patrick Mahomes wishes he'd have taken that knee brace from Megan Trainer. The commercial, correct? Yeah. Yeah. All right. Yeah. Yeah. Probably. I don't think it would have necessarily helped though. No. As Jim Harbaugh said that if you played offensive line or defensive line at Michigan when he was there, you it was mandatory. You had to wear these knee braces. But it feels like you see this. It's pretty common now, certainly with college football and those contraptions. Now, I wore knee brace all through high school in college, but these are really intricate. These are almost like Frankenstein stuff where it's like big metal things. Yeah. Paul, I know it doesn't affect knee injuries. I'm not saying that. But I wish football players would wear their pants to their knee and over their knee like they used to. They're basically wearing capri pants or shorts these days. Joe in Ohio. Hi, Joe. What's on your mind? Hey, Dan. First time, long time. 62195. Yeah, thanks. Going into, you know, the College football playoff this weekend, the athletic did a survey with Power 4 and Group of 5 coaches on who's the best coach going into the college football playoffs. And Ryan Day did not receive a single vote while Kirby and Signetti received almost all of them. You know, there's. There's been this notion that Ryan Day was born on third, third base, you know, over the last six, seven years. And does he need a net back to back national title to get over that hump or is the notion still going to be there? And one more thing, Dan. I got a. In the spirit of pies to the face, I got A buckeye pie to the face for anyone. Ohio State versus the rest of the field. So Joe's taking Ohio State and you can have everybody else in the playoffs, including Tulane and James Madison. Yeah. Does anybody want a piece of Joe? I kind of do. You're. You're on a pie betting spree. I must be hungry or something. I. Betting spree. Yeah. I'll take that one too. Why not? What was the other one I just took? I have the Pisman back here. Oh, the. The Pisman trophy that was sent in. So I have Ohio State losing at some point, just not winning the national championship. Yeah. And then, oh, Seattle winning tonight. Yeah. Straight up. Yeah, straight up. Straight up. I don't know about the Ryan Day thing, but, you know, Jim Harbaugh is the one that talked about Ryan Day. Woke up on third base at Ohio State. He inherited an unbelievable team. And they probably do year in and year out, have more. They're going to have probably five first round draft picks, maybe, maybe more than that this year. And so. And. And you know, you have a receiver and their quarterback not eligible to be drafted. Or they might be first round draft picks as well. But yeah, Harbaugh is the one that said that. And I think it's. And there is some truth to that. It's like Barry Switzer took over for Jimmy Johnson and got a Super Bowl. But Ryan Day has had some sustained greatness here. And you did win a national title. Winning another one feels like, okay, you won one, but you gotta be pretty good to win two. At least. I would. I would hope that. That how he would be viewed, Paul, this day in sports history. I got a couple for you, Dan. I got Nate Thurman. You just mentioned the other day. 1977, the Cavs retired his number 42. Wilt Chamberlain in 61 had 78 points against the Lakers. And oh, 2002, a press conference was held to announce that the Robert Johnson was a new owner of the NBA's Charlotte franchise. That was historic. And that's it. All right, let's go around the room. What we learned on the program. Todd, what'd you learn today? Michael Urban believes KC has to start retooling and building more talent around their superman. Patrick Mahomes. Seaton, what'd you learn today? Ohio State fans are feeling a little underappreciated for Ryan Day. It's not very fair. Okay. Marvin, how about you? You think Seaton doesn't know good music? Yeah, that's true, Paulie. Not Shania Twain. No. Apparently, Lori, we don't know that. Hold on a second. I'm gonna stick up for Troy here. We don't know that. Fair. Laurie Morgan, another country singer he dated around Lori Morgan's time. There was a young upstart singer, Shania Twain. We'll talk to you tomorrow. Have a great day, everybody.
