Unknown Commentator
Ooh, General tires. We had a lot of fun today so far. I feel like there's a theme of today's show and it has to.
Steve Covino
It's day three of the Dan Patrick Hatrick.
Unknown Commentator
There's a little bit of delusion. There's a little bit of, you know, what happens when you get to the top in sports or media or acting. Like a lot of themes today. And I think there's one more story that we're going to get to in a few minutes. It has to do with delusion and it has to do with Cam Jordan Delusion or realistic? But before we get to that story, two things. Number one, we were talking about hot TV moms and someone brought up Suzanne Summers, of course, from Step by Step. But if you want to go further back, of course, Three's Company. Is that where she, in your mind, made her mark.
Dan Patrick
But she was just a mama on that show. Not a. Yeah, she was a hot.
Unknown Commentator
Mama, but on Step by Step she was a mom.
Dan Patrick
Yes, she was.
Unknown Commentator
But I have to play this only because I guarantee most people have never heard it. Covino and I discovered this years ago, you know, just looking up dumb stuff on social media. Scrolling. There was an original theme to Three's Company we all know for the pilot. Yeah, yeah, we all know. Come on, knock on my door Come.
Steve Covino
On, knock on my door We've been waiting for you We've been waiting for you.
Unknown Commentator
People know that. But the original was an instrumental and it was so 70s. Wah wah wah wah. Just take a listen to the OG Pilot theme song to Three's Company.
Steve Covino
That riff is still rocking, though. Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo Duty to do. Maybe it was just like place filler because they didn't have the words.
Rich Davis
Yeah, they were like, we have the foundation.
Steve Covino
We don't have the lyrics yet, but this was on the pilot episode. You could find it on YouTube.
Unknown Commentator
So anyway, it's just like sitting on.
Steve Covino
The dock of the bay right when Otis Redding's doing the whistle.
Unknown Commentator
That's a sad.
Rich Davis
At the end of the song.
Unknown Commentator
That's a sadder thing though.
Rich Davis
Nice. He's like, I ran out of lyrics.
Steve Covino
Yeah, that was just filler. And they're like, yeah, you know what, we're just gonna roll with that to play a soundtrack. Well, I know the sad part of.
Unknown Commentator
The story, but the sad, real part of the story is that it was meant to be.
Steve Covino
Lyrics.
Unknown Commentator
The ending of Otis Redding sitting by the dock of the bay. There's Cavino, so perfectly whistled. Thank you, by the way.
Steve Covino
You are like, otho, I am a whistling champion.
Unknown Commentator
That's a topic for another day. Best song with a whistle in it.
Steve Covino
Patience, Guns N Roses or maybe some Billy Joel.
Rich Davis
Whistling in public. Does it get under your skin? It does mine.
Steve Covino
Yeah.
Unknown Commentator
I like a little whistle. I'm okay with a whistle.
Rich Davis
A little whistling in public. Someone's whistling like it's the 1940s.
Steve Covino
You mad at someone's good mood?
Unknown Commentator
I feel like whistling.
Steve Covino
Got a spring in my stepping nickel in my pocket.
Rich Davis
All right, Mickey Mouse.
Unknown Commentator
So I look at it this way. Whistling is a good mood thing, but that Otis Redding song is a sad story. I did not know this. Sitting by the dock of the bay, which is a classic hit. That guy died way young, and he. He passed away in a tragic plane crash. And that song had not been completed yet. So that whistle was filler until they figured out how to end the song. He dies. They released that song after he had passed away. And they're like, you just keep the whistle in it.
Rich Davis
I didn't know that.
Unknown Commentator
It's a classic part of the song.
Steve Covino
Yeah, it's the best part of the song.
Unknown Commentator
So you learn something here.
Rich Davis
Since I joined the Doug Gottlieb show, usually I'm on that show for you guys.
Unknown Commentator
He teach you college basketball, blocking, whatever. He doesn't teach you fun facts like this.
Rich Davis
Well, I close out every.
Unknown Commentator
Here's how you box someone out. Sam.
Rich Davis
Final. The final Friday rejoin. I play sitting on the dock of the bay. And I didn't know that with the whistling. See, because he's the coach at UW Green Bay now.
Unknown Commentator
I wonder if he knows that.
Steve Covino
Well, I hope I was right then, Sam. Now we're going to do something that we just started a week ago. We're going to bring it here to the Dan Patrick show. Before we get into midweek, major, we'd like to give you some words of wisdom, because we, Covino and Rich sort of lack when it comes to that. We're the worldwide leaders of nonsense.
Unknown Commentator
I feel like I give good advice, but, I mean, we're talking. We're talking like words of wisdom. So Mike, who runs this place?
Dan Patrick
Who?
Unknown Commentator
I mean, I thought he was, like our dad's age. I remember calling him. You look like an old stone colt. He's like, I'm Younger than him, and I felt like an ass.
Steve Covino
Right, right. But Mike is great.
Unknown Commentator
Since we worked here at Fox Sports Radio, I think a lot of people that listen to us in the afternoon don't realize that Mike is a big part of what we do. Every day we get here, Me, Cavino, Danny G. Spot, the whole crew sits down. And Mike is a big part of our pre show meetings. And he's become a good friend of the show.
Steve Covino
He's like the Confucius of the show. Kind of.
Unknown Commentator
I mean, I think he thinks he's the Confucius of the show.
Steve Covino
Yeah, like, when we brainstorm, he always, like, has some, like, wisdom that he throws like. Ah, that's a good point, Mike.
Unknown Commentator
I know, guys. Like I've always said so.
Steve Covino
Like I've always said so.
Unknown Commentator
We said, you know what, Mike? Why don't once a week you just drop a nugget of knowledge and you could pass along to the Fox Sports Radio world. So it's a little something new. Take a listen.
Dan Patrick
It's time for the guy that runs this place. Just for clarification, guys, Big Mike does.
Unknown Commentator
Not run this place.
Rich Davis
He is not in charge of everything. He has no power over really, anybody here.
Dan Patrick
He does not run this place. It's Big Mike's words of wisdom on a Wednesday?
Steve Covino
Yes.
Unknown Commentator
If you don't want anyone to be critical of your opinions, stop saying stupid sh. Stuff. That's his words of wisdom.
Steve Covino
That's good. It's good, good advice.
Unknown Commentator
If you don't want people to be critical of your opinions, stop saying stupid stuff. Hey, that's a good one now.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Steve Covino
Yeah, he's always sharing wisdom with us. We want to share some with you. And thank you, Mike. Thank you.
Dan Patrick
Now we're passing the torture on to you. You know, we hear these things at the white pre show table meeting, but normally we don't have to share that.
Unknown Commentator
By the way, let it be known that people of all colors allowed at the table.
Dan Patrick
Oh, for sure. It just happens to be a white table in a blue. In a blue kitchen.
Unknown Commentator
Brown, by the way. So Mike's words of wisdom.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. So here's the thing. I thought, you know, if we're torturing the audience and they are forced to listen to Big Mike, who doesn't run this place, why not pass a swiggy on to you? So if you can call in and the guys will give you the number here in a second, if you could call in and repeat Big Mike's words of wisdom word for word, just like that, you win a stainless Steel, cnr, Swiggy.
Steve Covino
But it's got to be word for word.
Dan Patrick
Yes, sir.
Steve Covino
All right, you heard it. Now repeat it. We'll take your phone calls at 8.
Dan Patrick
Play it one more time.
Steve Covino
Now, 99 on Fox.
Dan Patrick
That phone number slow.
Steve Covino
99 on Fox.
Dan Patrick
The real numbers, not the letters. No, Covino, give the phone number, but not the letters. Not on Fox.
Steve Covino
877-99-6636.
Dan Patrick
Give me the letters. I'm like, I don't know how to dial like that.
Steve Covino
877-996-6369. If you can get it word for word, we'll give away our coveted Swiggy. So shake it out. Light them up and call us now.
Dan Patrick
Here we go. So listen, now, you got to repeat this word for.
Steve Covino
I don't even think you should. I think you heard it. What is it?
Unknown Commentator
I agree.
Rich Davis
I think we really. We said it and we played it.
Unknown Commentator
Once and Rich repeated it, but this.
Dan Patrick
Is the first time we're doing a giveaway.
Steve Covino
All right, well, we're showing you how it works one last time.
Dan Patrick
One last time.
Unknown Commentator
If you don't want anyone to be critical of your opinions, stop saying stupid sh.
Steve Covino
Stuff, all right? You can't mess it up, though. Pressure's on, Mike. Let's go. Thank you, Mike. And now it's time to talk about delusion or realistic or as the kiddos say, big dreaming, brah. He's Delulu now.
Unknown Commentator
Cam Jordan, a very likable NFL star. New Orleans Saints was on the NFL Network within the last week. As we all get ready for the NFL draft, we're trying to figure out, you know, what. What. What team is going after a quarterback? Is there any more clarity in New Orleans as far as what they're doing with Derek Carr? You know, as you said yesterday, Danny G, he's busy doing videos on YouTube about electric Bentleys or whatever. He's doing Rolls Royce.
Dan Patrick
Yes, Rolls Royce. So a lot of the mock drafts now have the Saints selecting a quarterback with their pick.
Unknown Commentator
Yeah. So you got to ask yourself, where are the Saints at?
Steve Covino
And my answer, where's your Saints at? At. At.
Unknown Commentator
Last year, when we did our preseason predictions, and I'm not a big prediction guy. I like gambling like everyone else does. But in the studio, we have our annual little chart, and, you know, we pick super bowl winner, mvp. We all make our fun little predictions to see if anyone at the end of the year is close to being right. Last year, when it came to worst team in the NFL, that was one of the categories. I was quick to be Like Saints. And if you remember, they won their first, like two games. I'm like, oh, damn, look at that. Not too shabby. But then they ended up 5 and 12. 5 and 12.
Dan Patrick
You said the whole time you didn't believe that they were a good team.
Steve Covino
But they weren't the worst. The Patriots were worse. The Raiders were worse, but they were the worst in the NFC South.
Unknown Commentator
I look at it this way, I thought all along they were the worst. And I feel like they were tied.
Steve Covino
For less than the NFC south, to be accurate, because the panthers were also 5 and 12.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Now, Rich Rattler got in and played, and Saints fans weren't exactly happy with what they saw. So to clarify, there were some mock drafters who already had the Saints. Maybe taking Shador Sanders, if he's still on the board. It's going to be really interesting because there's. There are some analysts who think the Saints really need to move up to get one of the top two quarterbacks in this draft.
Unknown Commentator
Well, it doesn't matter what we think. One of the star, one of the lone star players on the team, one of the only people that I think is a bright spot, Cam Jordan was on the NFL Network and he said something to the effect of when healthy. And I have to say, when healthy, because that was part of the, that was part of the deeper conversation he had.
Steve Covino
And that's, that's a key point, though.
Unknown Commentator
He said, quote, I think we have a team when healthy that's top two in the league. Top two in the league.
Steve Covino
He said winning. He also said that winning the NFC south was attainable. And I think that's a positive outlook. Why not?
Unknown Commentator
I mean, that's men healthy.
Steve Covino
You have to have some sort of belief in your team or else why are you playing?
Unknown Commentator
When I hear that part of it, that's a little more like. Now you're talking the winning. The NFC south is attainable because, I.
Steve Covino
Mean, the Buccaneers are in your way, but it's not like they're superstars.
Unknown Commentator
They're not the Eagles. Right.
Steve Covino
They're not The Eagles.
Unknown Commentator
Buffalo, 10 and 7.
Steve Covino
They're a scrappy, tough team.
Unknown Commentator
But like, it's not like the Saints are in the AFC north, where everyone's pretty damn good. That's. That is a trash division. So I do think it's attainable.
Steve Covino
Definitely attainable.
Unknown Commentator
I mean, it's not like Atlanta disappointed a lot of people last year. Tampa and Baker, that's a good team. But, you know, a couple injuries, a couple of things go wrong. That team could easily slide under.500. And the Panthers, you're assuming that is this the year Bryce Young and that team gets it together? So NFC south attainable.
Steve Covino
Yeah, that's.
Unknown Commentator
That's not crazy talk. But when healthy, a top two team. So I ask you, do you like, when people are optimistically delusional or do you rather when people keep it real?
Steve Covino
See, it's okay to say these things because we haven't seen anything yet.
Unknown Commentator
Right.
Steve Covino
And he's a veteran player. I think he's just trying to stay positive and show leadership. He even said that I'm going to have to take over on the leadership side. So he's trying to say the right things. And I think that's fine. That's great. You want to have that attitude heading into a season. That's what you want to hear. So I think that is good. I think that's realistic. I think he does believe that. And I think he has to, you know, convince the other young teammates that it is possible, it is attainable, and that's where winning begins. So I do like that. I don't look at it as delusional. I look at it as, yeah, the possibility is there. But when it does bother me is when, like, you know, your team stinks and yet they're still just saying the right things for the headlines, for the press. And you're like, you know, you don't believe that. Like, as a Yankees fan, it often bothers me. Like, my only criticism about Aaron Boone is that he's way positive all the time. It's like, dude, that guy stinks to the high heavens and you're still defending him or, that was the worst play ever and you're still defending your team or on the worst losing streak possible and you're still trying to find we're close. You're still trying to find that silver lining or positive side of it. Like, sometimes you want to hear the realistic side of it and they're just still being really positive. But sometimes that's what good leaders do. They're trying to. Trying to keep things positive, trying to give you something to root for. So that's when it rubs me the wrong way. But as far as, like, right now, before the season starts, and when you preface it with when healthy, I don't think they're delusional at all. I think they can take the NFC south when healthy.
Unknown Commentator
I will say something. You said, I don't even think you realize it was smart. You just said it.
Steve Covino
What do you think? You think I don't think before I talk. That's you.
Unknown Commentator
It's like, you know, sometimes like a clock, a broken clock is still right twice a day.
Steve Covino
You're the broken clock.
Unknown Commentator
So you said something. I don't think you realized it was smart.
Steve Covino
Sure.
Unknown Commentator
You said that when no game has been played yet, anyone could really say anything. Because you're right. It's not like mid season where your team's 20 games on the.500. Like, I think we're great. You're not great.
Steve Covino
In other words, if you're leading into a fight. Right. Press day, you should have this belief that I'm going to knock this guy out in the third round. This guy's a chump. He's a bum. I'm here to win, man. I had the best camp. I'm here to train. That's the confidence you need and that every athlete should have, and that's why they're professionals. Right. But if he still has the attitude after he got his ass knocked out, after they stopped the fight in the third round, you're like, oh, this guy's delusional.
Unknown Commentator
Yeah. Listen, if it's.
Steve Covino
Or if it's a decision, he's like, I still won that fight. Even though every judge had him losing. Yeah. I don't know. I'm not buying that anymore. You lost it.
Unknown Commentator
Went to distance. He lost 11 rounds to one. He's like, yeah, I think I still won that fight.
Steve Covino
Yeah. Having that attitude heading into things, I think that's where you need to be as a competitor.
Unknown Commentator
I'm glad you said that, because until something happens, we as fans got to be real for a second and say we don't know as much as the personnel, the coaches and the people actually there. That's why every year when the NFL draft happens, you're going to hear blowhards like Mel Kuiper and these. Is that a vampire or Mel Kuiper?
Steve Covino
Ah, ah, ah. One, two, three downs. Ah, ah, ah.
Unknown Commentator
First pick. One, two, three.
Steve Covino
Three picks. Ah, ah, ah. I think it's the count. Yeah.
Unknown Commentator
When you hear blowhards talking about the NFL draft and they think they got it solved, like, this guy's gonna be.
Steve Covino
A. Mel Kuiper's a blowhard. I think he's like a know it all kind of guy.
Unknown Commentator
Same thing, though.
Steve Covino
No blowhard. I could say we. We work with a few of them.
Unknown Commentator
Okay, you're right. I'm sorry. My apologies. Know it all. But then again, that's part of the charm, I guess, right?
Steve Covino
It is.
Unknown Commentator
But there's guys that act like, here's my draft board. I got it right. And it's like every year without fail, it's like, good bust, bust, bust. Good bust, bust. Oh, good player. Ooh, late round guy. Wow, that Lamar Jackson slipped that far. But yet, you know, they took Mitch Trubitzky every year. It's. No one really knows until a game is played. And I bring that up because as a Mets fan going into the season, I was very excited about the lineup. I'm like, Lindor Soto, Alonzo Vientos, Nimmo. Like, this is the Mets best lineup. Maybe Cavino, hear me out. Maybe ever. It might be the best Mets lineup ever. And I said, you know what? The weaknesses, starting pitching. And I saw the coaching staff be like, man, the starting pitching is going to be sick. And I'm like, delusional. Meanwhile, the Mets are in first place right now. The lineup's cold as hell, and the Mets have the best team ERA in baseball. So hold on, because I remember thinking like, wait, you're trying to tell me.
Steve Covino
Because you don't know.
Unknown Commentator
You're trying to tell me.
Steve Covino
No.
Unknown Commentator
Clay Holmes, Tyler McGill, Peterson, Canning and Senga that that's your elite rotation.
Steve Covino
As a Mets fan, Rich, can I remind you of Jacob deGrom? Because again, people are saying Cam Jordan's delusional to think that they could win the NFC south and that they're going to have a good team. He said when healthy, he believes it. Perhaps he knows some things. He's on the team.
Unknown Commentator
Yeah.
Steve Covino
Plus he's taking a leadership role we've talked about. I call this the Jacob deGrom theory. We laughed. You laughed as a Mets guy, when he said he was leaving the Mets to play for the Rangers because he believed in their winning attitude and winning culture, like the Rangers. We laughed about it like, man, what is he? Is he delusional? Is he just feeding us lines here? But perhaps he knew something that we didn't. In fact, he did. The Rangers, DeGrom and Creed took that team to a championship and even without.
Unknown Commentator
Him, because he was hurt.
Steve Covino
But you thought he was delusional when he said it.
Unknown Commentator
It was a delusional thought that it was like, oh, you know what? Maybe he does know more than we know. So always keep that in mind. So you know what? With that said, I wish Cam Jordan and the Saints all the luck in the world. And it would be pretty funny if that team had a winning record, did surprise everyone. And Cam Jordan could be like, yeah, I knew it. Because we talked about how injuries could play such a role. Look at my 49ers last year, Covino. They went from NFC Championship and Super bowl year after year after year. Couple guys get hurt, locker room gets a little discouraged. You know, veterans are aging. Things could change real quick. So we shall see. Good luck to the Saints. Now, you want to try to get a winner for this game, and then we'll get into midweek major.
Steve Covino
Exactly. So if you could repeat word for word, Big Mike, who runs this place, Wednesday, words of wisdom. You could win a coveted Swiggy. Who do we got?
Dan Patrick
Danny G. All right, where do you guys want to start? Orlando, Florida. Middletown, Ohio. Torrance, California. Yellow Springs, Ohio. Santa Rosa, California, or Eugene, Oregon.
Unknown Commentator
You know what? Our pal Guy Fieri lives up in Santa Rosa. Yeah, it's a beautiful area. And I like the name. I believe that's Matthias.
Dan Patrick
No, Matthias.
Unknown Commentator
Matthias.
Steve Covino
Yeah. No, no. Matthews. Rich, let's go with that.
Rich Davis
Matthias.
Dan Patrick
All right.
Steve Covino
I like the name.
Rich Davis
Have you never seen that? I said Sagle earlier.
Unknown Commentator
Yeah, he's on Katie Seagal.
Steve Covino
Kitty.
Unknown Commentator
Yeah, he is.
Dan Patrick
So all is forgiven, Samuel L. Johnson. Give us some deep thinking music there. And Matthias, are you ready to try to win a Swiggy?
Steve Covino
Matthias, you got to get it word for word.
Dan Patrick
Word for word. You got to copy Big Mike. It is Matthias.
Steve Covino
And if you don't want people to.
Unknown Commentator
Be critical of your opinion, stop saying stupid stuff.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, word for word. Word for word.
Unknown Commentator
That's how you do it, Matthews.
Steve Covino
You just want our coveted Swiggy. Stainless steel, Midnight Black, Cavino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio. It's really a nice water bottle for your kid to lose at school. At school. Should we listen back to it real quick? But yeah, we'll listen back one last time. Something to think about.
Unknown Commentator
If you don't want anyone to be critical of your opinions, stop saying stupid sh.
Steve Covino
Stuff.
Unknown Commentator
Yeah, you know, there's a lot of.
Steve Covino
People, a lot of people in the.
Unknown Commentator
Sports media world that should listen to Big Mike's advice. A lot of people say dumb stuff.
Steve Covino
Great job, man.
Dan Patrick
Torture. On to you, Matthias. Congrats. We're gonna mail out a Swiggy to Santa Rosa.
Rich Davis
Nice.
Steve Covino

Unknown Commentator

In fact, I thought we had a draft day deal to end up getting.
Steve Kerr
Him to Phoenix for the entire behind the scenes story of Golden State's incredible 10 year run. Listen to Dub Dynasty on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
Steve Covino
Steve Covino and Rich Davis Covino and Rich in for Dan Patrick Day three of the Dan Patrick Hatrick and again, hope you had a magic warriors sort of night tonight. Some good games, Heat, Bulls, Mavs, Kings and I hope you paid your taxes yesterday.
Unknown Commentator
I hope so.
Steve Covino
And I hope you enjoyed Jackie Robinson Day. I want to tip my Brooklyn Dodgers hat to the great Jackie Robinson. Everybody rocking number 42 yesterday. It was cool to see. So having a great hump day gonna turn your hump day into a hump night. I don't know what that means, but hopefully something good.
Unknown Commentator
And Ben's the kids go to bed early. Or not.
Steve Covino
Yeah. We're live from Mercedes Benz Studios and we do this on our show again. We're on from 2 to 4 Monday through Friday. You can catch our podcast just search Covino Enrich wherever you Stream your podcast 5 to 7pm on the east and we also have a bonus pod over promise. But every Wednesday on our show we do something called Midweek Major.
Dan Patrick
Let's go Covino. And Rich gets you over the middle of the week with Midweek Major.
Unknown Commentator
Oh I love that.
Dan Patrick
We throw sports and pop culture headlines and topics at the fellas. And it's like the kids say, that's so mid. We definitely major CNR scoring midweek major. If we go fast we could give Spotty nine full minutes.
Rich Davis
Why do you do this to me?
Dan Patrick
When you hear the horns you have made it to the middle of the week. Before we hand things over to the number one and only host of the segment. We like to roll the two big red love dice in the main studio.
Steve Covino
Danny G. Sticky red love dice. The giant red love dice. I just rolled an 8.
Dan Patrick
An 8. This is to see who gets first take.
Rich Davis
Why are they sticky?
Steve Covino
You don't love dice?
Rich Davis
Don't ask.
Dan Patrick
And a rich roll.
Steve Covino
Rich got seven.
Dan Patrick
I wino gets to go first. And now ladies and gentlemen, the most famous person besides Judy Bloom from Scotch Plains New Jersey Spotty Boy.
Rich Davis
You know, I thought with three hours I'd get like double the time, but I guess not. All right, thanks. The Paige Beckers effect already taking shape in Dallas. The WNBA number one draft pick drafted to the Wings earlier this week, and ticket sales and prices have already seen a major spike. Beckers, who helped her UConn Huskies win the 2025 NCAA championship, has been getting a lot of attention on the court of obviously. So the ticketing site psychic said that sales on their site are up 11 times with a 905% increase in traffic. And if you want to have that for comparison, they're saying that when Caitlin Clark was announced that it was going to. Was going to be going to the Fever, that there was only a 60% increase in traffic for that. So huge increase to the. For Dallas. And if you're curious, the average ticket price between Beckers and Clark, their first face off is around $500 right now. So midweek or major?
Steve Covino
I do think major, but I do think that is the Caitlin Clark aftermath. It's the Caitlin Clark effect not to take away from Paige Beckers. Congratulations to the Yukon Huskies and props to the Dallas Wings. Spotty likes wings, don't you? Like spikes, don't you like them? And it's cool to see that increase, but I do think it's carryover from last year's hype and we're sort of prisoners of the moment. Will this sustain it depends how great she is.
Unknown Commentator
It would be way cooler if they actually were the Dallas Wings and it was like Buffalo wings.
Steve Covino
Yeah.
Unknown Commentator
Lemon pepper, please. Listen, this is. This is major. Definitely major. Paige Becker's is fantastic. And I have to be the real one in the room here, though. I can't. I can't allow all the cheerleading to go on without saying that numbers and statistics are meant to be. You know, you can manipulate numbers. When ticket sales go up 11 times. That means maybe last year they sold 200 tickets. Now they sold 2200 tickets. So let's. Let's keep it real. No one's in love with the WNBA to the point where it's NBA level or anything substantial. Caitlin Clark has.
Rich Davis
Caitlin Clark has the effect.
Steve Covino
But you're.
Rich Davis
Let's wait and see on.
Steve Covino
Still on. On the right track here.
Unknown Commentator
They're definitely on the right track. But when you say something like up 905%, I mean, you got to think of where the starting point is. And I compare it to salaries. If someone's making jack diddly squat and it's like, hey, you get a 10% raise. A 10% raise of nothing is not that much Jack squad ever do to you. I know but hey, I wish them well.
Rich Davis
All right. Over to the NBA. So Luka has officially dethroned LeBron James and Steph Curry when it comes to jersey sales, becoming the highest selling NBA Jersey since the February 6th trade deadline. Sales on N nbastore.com up 21 compared to last year. And that's primarily driven by Lucas trade to the Lakers, Steph Curry coming in at 2, LeBron at 3, Jason Tatum at 4 and Jalen Brunson at 5. And this is the first time that one of the top player Jersey hasn't been LeBron or Steph since the 2012, 2020, 2013 season.
Steve Covino
Wow. So midweek or major?
Unknown Commentator
Major.
Steve Covino
This is very major.
Unknown Commentator
10 year retro broke.
Steve Covino
I think this is a clear example of turning dilemmas into dilemmonade. Poor guy gets dished over to the Lakers. He didn't want to go, but look, he's making the best of it. It's not the Lakers suck or anything like that, but he was happy and had unfinished business in Dallas. Now the fans are behind him and he's the number one selling jersey in a league full of superstars. The NBA. If you're beating out LeBron and Curry and Tatum and all these dudes, I think you're doing something right. Props to him.
Unknown Commentator
I think it's major. Definitely major.
Rich Davis
Okay.
Unknown Commentator
Biggest trade in NBA history. I mean we were in Vegas when it happened. I remember everyone in the casinos ad like it was a big deal. And listen, you take one of the biggest stars, put them on the Los Angeles Lakers. This doesn't surprise me. I just got to ask if the Lakers somehow found a way to win the NBA title this year and Luka got there last year with the Mavs and fell just short. Is is is Luka's legacy on a different level like that. That's why big.
Steve Covino
I also think that some of these sales are coming from Dallas fans who are tired of Nico want him fired and they still support Luka, as we saw recently at his homecoming. I think they're choosing to root for the player, not the team, but still in support of Luka. Man.
Unknown Commentator
Can I call out our co worker Rob Parker? Wasn't it Rob Parker on the Odd Couple that said he's impossible to root for?
Steve Covino
That was Mad Dog.
Unknown Commentator
I thought it was Rob Parker too. He may have. I mean a lot of people, you know what? Impossible to root for. Are you sure about that?
Steve Covino
Oh, he's yeah. Parker said he's got crocodile tears.
Unknown Commentator
Oh, that's right. I'm sorry. Rob said that he was crying. You know, fake crying.
Steve Covino
But anyway, whoever said that it's Doo Doo.
Unknown Commentator
Whoever says Luke is hard to root for. Jersey sales will say something different.
Rich Davis
Oh, back to me. Okay, thanks. I know you guys are huge fans of, like, the World Baseball Classic. Love baseball.
Unknown Commentator
Yeah.
Rich Davis
Well, it was announced that as the Olympics return stateside, that baseball will be making a return to the Olympics in when they come to the US and right here in LA for the 2028 Summer Olympics. And of course, games will be held at the iconic Dodger Stadium. The Olympic Committee announced it yesterday on their social. They couldn't be more excited for the stadium to host the Games in 2028 and at the iconic ballpark of Dodger Stadium. So baseball, a little behind the history of baseball in the Olympics was started in 1900 as a demonstration. Became an official Olympic sport in 1992 in Barcelona, but was discontinued in 2008. Made a quick appearance in 2020 in Tokyo, but was off the roster. So now they're bringing it back because obviously baseball huge.
Unknown Commentator
Baseball's hot right now.
Steve Covino
Major, major.
Rich Davis
Another major story.
Steve Covino
Good stories. Because, look, I'm a huge baseball fan and you're putting baseball on a world stage. Baseball is an international sport more than ever. So I love that. And, you know, I don't want to brush over the WBC to the World Baseball Classic 2026. Aaron Judge is the captain. He's the one. But you bring it to 2028. Now with the Olympics at Dodger Stadium, you have all these international fans experiencing the beautiful Dodger Stadium. It's a great stadium. I think we're going to see some highly competitive international baseball. Super fired up for it, man. I think that's great.
Unknown Commentator
You know, I agree. Everything is said. I don't need to repeat it, but I find it funny. Have you guys all seen the morons on social media? Media. When Aaron Judge was announced the captain of the 2026 team. And people like, see, he's better than Ohtani. He was named captain and people like, you know, Ohtani is on Team Japan.
Steve Covino
Well, Trout was the previous one, but yeah. Back to spot story. The Olympics, it's kind of cool, too, because when we were kids growing up rich, which was what was one of the most coveted baseball cards.
Unknown Commentator
Do you Remember the Mark McGuire USA card?
Steve Covino
There you go. So we're going to have all that fun, too. Like, yo, kids are going to run wild with that.
Unknown Commentator
One last question. We Saw Shohei Ohtani star. I'm sorry, Shohei Ohtani.
Steve Kerr
Shohei Ohtani, honey.
Unknown Commentator
We've seen his star rise quite a bit. Kavino, in the last year or so.
Steve Covino
Right.
Unknown Commentator
Like, I mean, he was in, he was in baseball. He was down in Anaheim with the Angels, but he wasn't the star he is now. Do you think the very beginning of Next level Star was when he struck out Mike Trout to end the World Baseball Classic?
Steve Covino
Didn't hurt, man.
Unknown Commentator
Was that like step one in super, super duper star.
Steve Covino
That was big.
Unknown Commentator
Yeah.
Steve Covino
Oh, tiny. I love, I love baseball on big stages like this. So major spot.
Dan Patrick
All right.
Rich Davis
Got to sneak in a draft story since it's coming up next week. University of Miami QB Cam Ward expected to be one of the top, if not the first name, called in next week's NFL draft and may have dropped some hints as to where he's already headed. The 22 year old was doing a Fortnite video game live stream. I know you love those. And was asked about his top NFL running backs. Responding with two stars from the Tennessee Titans. He was then asked about his favorite receivers. Responding with two stars from the Tennessee Titans. So the Titans do have the first pick. Ward has already met with the team, so there has been speculation, but it seems like he's going to be playing in Nashville next, next year.
Steve Covino
Midweek or major. Definitely major. Cam Ward, 22 year old superstar, throwing hints, dropping hints. By the way, I think it's major for another reason. I feel like this is part of another trend that might be growing because where do a lot of young kids get their music from? Video games. Now we're dropping sports headlines via video game feeds on Fortnite. Right? That's where you get your scoop.
Unknown Commentator
That's crazy. Listen, I think it's major. It's pretty clear he's going to the Titans.
Steve Covino
He gave some info out there, but I. Some live video games.
Unknown Commentator
What I do love about it though is how you know, how blatant he was. Like what was the next question? Like, hey, where's the best place to party? And he's like, probably Broadway in that Nashville. Like, you know, it's gonna be a fun thing for that city because that's. That. That town is fantastic. And they're thirsting. They're like thirsting. Howell iii. They're thirsting for some, some good quarterback action. So let's see what Cam Ward does.
Steve Covino
Hey, Cam Ward, what's your favorite Arrested Development song? Tennessee, Tennessee, Tennessee, Tennessee.
Rich Davis
All right, Rich, do you want a Jackson Mahomes story, or do you want to hear about a fun, cute gender reveal?
Unknown Commentator
Gender reveals. Because I like him and Camino hate poison.
Rich Davis
Okay, well, I don't know if you saw this, but Bryce Hartman, they both stink spot.
Steve Covino
Can that be my answer?
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Rich Davis
Do you want to hear about QR codes on baseballs? I also got that.
Unknown Commentator
No.
Rich Davis
Okay. Bryce Harper able to share a special moment during Monday night's game as the Phillies took on the Giants at home. He and his wife expecting another child, his wife, Kayla. They already have three children. So during a team meeting, he revealed that his wife is expecting and enlisted the help of teammate Trey Turner to help with the gender reveal. So Harper had two custom bats made by the same company that makes the torpedo bats, Victus Sports. One pink, one blue, and he handed it over to Turner. So, like, in the dugout, you saw him, like, playing with the bats, like, handing him the pick one, then handing him the blue and handed him the pick one. Eventually handed him the blue one. He walked out to take his at bat, struck out, but showed that he was having a boy. Phillies also went on to lose, which also sucks. But still, it was a special moment. Midweek or major.
Steve Covino
Should be major, but I'm going mid.
Rich Davis
Oh, come on.
Steve Covino
First of all, gender reveals are corny, but this one's kind of creative and kind of cute.
Unknown Commentator
What do you hate about it? You're buzzkill.
Steve Covino
Because they're a big. Look at me and watch me while I light something on fire and cause destruction. That's true. There's so many stories where it's gone wrong.
Unknown Commentator
Once the blue moon, there's idiots that go overboard and you hate it. This is amazing.
Steve Covino
Yeah, this is a really nice one. I like it. But if you're gonna bust out the blue bat and everyone's watching you in that moment, you gotta make some contact. You gotta get a hit in that moment. If you would have told me. Yeah. And he drove a double into the gap or. Oh, man, he hit a bomb. He is the bomb. That would have made the story so much cooler. So I'm happy for Bryce Harper. I think he's a true rock star in the game. He's a superstar. I'm happy for his family, but the fact that he struck out with the blue bat makes it less of a story.
Unknown Commentator
Covino, Captain Buzzkill, Captain Underpants. I think it's great that I think it's major. I love Bryce Harper. As a Mets fan, it pains me to say that I think he's one of my favorite players in the game.
Steve Covino
He's so good for baseball.
Unknown Commentator
And congratulations to him and his wife. And I think gender reveals are fun unless you just don't burn anything down or hurt anyone. Otherwise, just fun times. People celebrating great moments in their life. How could you hate on that?
Rich Davis
Yeah. Also Jackson Mahomes, a girlfriend. Just so you know, he likes girls.
Steve Covino
Get out of here.
Unknown Commentator
All right, all right, we got more Kavino Rich and for Dan Patrick next.
Dan Patrick
Thank you, Spotty.
Steve Covino
Thanks boss.
Rich Davis
Thanks guys.

Play Number one by Nelly. Is it Kenmore? Is it? Definitely Kenmore. Is that, like, Locked, Right? Ironically, number one by Nelly. One of his few songs that did not make it to number one in the 2000s, Nelly has had four number one songs. Do you think you could name them? Going back to the 2000s, which, by the way, you go to a bar, a club, an event, anywhere. The 2000s is like a young kid's nostalgia. You know how if you grew up in the 80s or 90s, you have a soft spot in your heart for, like, you know, some random 80s cheese kids now, like, college kids, look back at, like, yeah, the 2000s. That's retro, which is crazy.
Steve Covino
I can name two of them.
Unknown Commentator
What do you think? Nelly here?
Steve Covino
Definitely. So hot and so hot in here. Hot in here, Hot in here. If you wanted to go and take a ride with me. Ride, whatever it's called.
Dan Patrick
Did dilemma go number one?
Unknown Commentator
Ride With Me was a number three song. Dilemma with Kelly Rowland was number one for 10 weeks.
Steve Covino
So Ride With Me was not a number one.
Dan Patrick
Wow.
Unknown Commentator
Hot in here. See, there's one of them, right, That I can't even believe. Of all Nelly songs. Can I.
Rich Davis
Can I guess one?
Unknown Commentator
Yeah. Good.
Rich Davis
Ei.
Unknown Commentator
No.
Rich Davis
Oh, yeah.
Steve Covino
No, really?
Unknown Commentator
That's number one. No.
Rich Davis
No, it's not number one.
Unknown Commentator
Yeah. So hot in here. You got what sounds you play.
Rich Davis
Coming back.
Unknown Commentator
Danny G. You said dilemma.
Rich Davis
Number one is what I played.
Unknown Commentator
You said Kelly Rowland.
Rich Davis
Is Country Grammar on there?
Unknown Commentator
Country Grammar is a great song spot, but country grammar made it to number seven.
Dan Patrick
Wow.
Unknown Commentator
Nelly has had four number one hits. You guys named two of them. Dilemma with Kelly Rowland and Hot in Here, the other one, it's like a collaboration. Remember Shaky Tail Feather with Diddy and Murphy Lee and all that? That was number one.
Rich Davis
Who did he who?
Unknown Commentator
The who who where the party at with Jagged Edge. Close. Big one. That was a big hit with Tim McGraw over and over again. That was close. Oh, was it the one that made it to number one? I feel like is Nelly's, like, 10th best song. And I'm like, how did this make it to number one?
Steve Covino
Nelly has more hits than Juan Soto.
Unknown Commentator
Girlfriend within sync. Nope. My place with Jaheim. Get it Popping with Fat Joe. I mean, Nelly did more duets than Sinatra.
Steve Covino
Wow.
Unknown Commentator
The one that he. That he got to number one with is one that I never would have thought it was a duet. Danny G, open your mouth. Let me see your teeth. You got that grill, Grill.
Dan Patrick
All right.
Unknown Commentator
Was number one with Paul Wall. I would never have guessed that if you.
Steve Covino
Paul Wall on the map. He's very thankful and grateful. Till this day, bro.
Dan Patrick
My teeth are yellow, but not from gold, bro.
Unknown Commentator
If you would have told me Nelly's one of his number one songs was Grills with Paul Wall, I'd have been like, no, not true. Now listen, we really had a great time filling it for dp. If you enjoy hanging with us, don't forget every afternoon, five to seven, if we're on in your city, Fox Sports Radio. Unknown Commentator

Steve Covino

Unknown Commentator

Steve Covino

Unknown Commentator
All right.
Steve Covino
So sorry about that.
Unknown Commentator
Before we get out of here.
Steve Covino
Yeah, sorry you have to sit there and listen to our stupid nonsense.
Unknown Commentator
I want. I want to. I want you to go around the room and be like, full of it or real talk? Full of it or real talk. When Travis Hunter says, if I can't play both sides of the football, then I'm going to quit. Now, I've heard people say in college elite, on both sides. When he gets to the NFL, he may reconsider and say, ah, that's a. That's a lot. Guys have sparingly done it. But Travis Hunter wants to play. Now, I know defense, Danny G. Not every alignment would require his position. Like, if they're playing different formations, it's not going to be every play on both sides of the ball. But do you really think that if a team's like, yeah, yeah, we got you in the first round, you're our guy, but we're going to focus on maybe defense? Do you think he really would be like, I quit?
Dan Patrick
Yeah, you're not going to take him up that high in the draft for just one side of the ball. So what's going to happen is mostly defense, and I think they'll put in like, some offensive packages for him.
Unknown Commentator
That's a great answer.
Steve Covino
There's going to be a compromise. I agree with Danny G 100%. So I don't think he's quitting at all. I think that's how it'll work out.
Rich Davis
He, I saw that he spoke with like a good number of teams and they all agree to it. Some teams though, like the Browns were like, he's, he was better as a receiver and the Titans were like, he's better as a cornerback.
Unknown Commentator
So you know what? Hey, make your decision. Let us know what you think at Covino Rich. And don't forget June 20th to the 22nd. Join us in Vegas for our big anniversary party. All the details will be at Covino and Rich. And thank you to DP and the Danets for letting us fill in. And we'll see you back tomorrow in the afternoon. Right. Until then, Ariba. There she baby.

The Dan Patrick Show - Hour 3: Words of Wisdom, Is Cam Jordan Delusional
Release Date: April 16, 2025
In this engaging third hour of The Dan Patrick Show, host Dan Patrick, alongside co-hosts Steve Covino and Rich Davis, delves into a mix of sports insights, pop culture discussions, and humorous segments, all while maintaining their signature wit and camaraderie.
The show kicks off with the trio setting the tone for a lively discussion. Early into the segment, Rich Davis reminisces about the original theme song of Three's Company, sparking a nostalgic conversation about classic TV shows and their memorable moments.
Steve Covino and Rich Davis introduce a new interactive segment titled "Words of Wisdom", inspired by their colleague Mike. The hosts humorously attempt to share Mike's aphorisms, leading to a playful giveaway contest where listeners are encouraged to repeat Mike's wisdom verbatim to win a coveted stainless steel Swiggy water bottle.
Notable Quote:
Rich Davis [06:48]: "If you don't want people to be critical of your opinions, stop saying stupid stuff."
The heart of the episode revolves around a heated discussion about Cam Jordan, the charismatic NFL star from the New Orleans Saints. Recently featured on the NFL Network, Jordan expressed his belief that, when healthy, the Saints could rank among the top two teams in the league and win the NFC South.
Key Points Discussed:
Team Performance: Reflecting on the previous season, Steve Covino recalls the Saints' disappointing 5-12 record, emphasizing the unpredictability of team performance.
Cam Jordan's Leadership: Rich Davis praises Jordan's positive outlook, highlighting the importance of leadership in maintaining team morale, especially when facing challenges like injuries.
Delusion vs. Optimism: The hosts debate whether Jordan's statements are a sign of delusion or a necessary dose of optimism to inspire his team. Rich Davis leans towards viewing Jordan's confidence as realistic and leadership-oriented, essential for fostering a winning mentality.
Notable Quote:
Rich Davis [14:27]: "Sometimes, you want to hear the realistic side, but good leaders try to keep things positive."
Transitioning from the main discussion, the show introduces the "Midweek Major" segment, where the hosts break down significant sports stories of the week.
Rich Davis highlights the surge in ticket sales following the Dallas Wings' drafting of Paige Becker, the WNBA's number one pick from UConn. Becker's stellar performance in the NCAA championship has translated into a 905% increase in ticket traffic, eclipsing previous spikes seen with other athletes.
Notable Quote:
Rich Davis [27:05]: "The Paige Beckers effect already taking shape in Dallas."
In a surprising twist, Luka Doncic has become the highest-selling NBA jersey since the 2012 season, overtaking icons like LeBron James and Steph Curry. This meteoric rise is attributed to his recent trade to the Los Angeles Lakers, sparking both excitement and speculation among fans.
Notable Quote:
Steve Covino [31:00]: "If you're beating out LeBron and Curry, I think you're doing something right."
The Olympic Committee announced the return of baseball to the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, with games set to be held at the iconic Dodger Stadium. This move aims to elevate baseball's global presence and capitalize on its rich history.
Notable Quote:
Rich Davis [33:07]: "Baseball is an international sport more than ever."
Bryce Harper of the Philadelphia Phillies garnered attention for his inventive gender reveal during a team meeting. Using custom-made bats—one pink, one blue—Harper chose a blue bat to announce the birth of his son. While the gesture was heartfelt, the subsequent strikeout somewhat overshadowed the moment.
Notable Quote:
Unknown Commentator [38:31]: "He's a superstar. I'm happy for his family."
The hosts discuss Travis Hunter's desire to play both offense and defense in the NFL. They debate the feasibility of his aspirations, considering the demands of modern football and team strategies.
Notable Quote:
Dan Patrick [46:22]: "There’s going to be a compromise. I agree with Danny G 100%."
Throughout the episode, Dan Patrick, Steve Covino, and Rich Davis engage with their audience through contests and shout-outs. The "Words of Wisdom" giveaway encourages listeners to participate actively, fostering a sense of community and interaction.
Notable Quote:
Steve Covino [09:55]: "You just want our coveted Swiggy."
As the hour wraps up, the hosts tease the next segments and encourage listeners to tune in for future episodes. They reiterate the show's availability on various platforms, ensuring that their audience stays connected.
Notable Quote:
Dan Patrick [23:29]: "Do you want to hear about QR codes on baseballs? I also got that."
