Seahawks over the Texans. Neither game was that good, but you did have one highlight or a reminder, A subtle reminder. Jameer Gibbs is really, really good. Force Tampa to play a little bit.
Dan Patrick
Tougher than I want. There he goes. Foot race right side. You've got no shot at catching that man. 105 end zone touchdown Detroit Lions 78 yards. A bolt of lightning and the Lions are an extra point away from doubling up their lead.
Paul Pabst
That's the Lions radio network. When you have a local broadcaster, he's trying to be professional. And then you got the color analyst who's normally a former player, probably an offensive lineman, and he's just throwing in things now. As you hear it again, the play by play voice is trying to maintain the professionalism. Meanwhile, as color analysts, there is no professionalism. Force Tampa to play a little bit.
Dan Patrick
Tougher than they want. Down hands to Javert Gibbs. There he goes. Foot race right side. You've got no shot at catching that man. 105 end zone touchdown Detroit Line Lions.
Paul Pabst
78 yards A bolt of lightning and.
Dan Patrick
The Lions were an extra point away.
Paul Pabst
From doubling up their lead. It's like your uncle is just throwing in stuff where you're trying to have a, you know, serious conversation here and he just throwing in. Yeah, all right. Yeah, right. Yeah, there. Go. All right. Yeah. Yes. Marvin.
Dan Patrick
My favorite analyst is the guy from the Bengals. Go, baby, go. Anytime somebody goes off, the color guy is just trying to be nice. Professional Jamar chase with a 89. Go, baby, go. That's my favorite.
Paul Pabst
Dave Lapham is the offensive lineman, former offensive lineman for the Bengals. And he just talks over the play by play guy. It doesn't matter. He blows right through the stop sign. Yeah, Paulie.
Dan Patrick
Back in the day in Chicago, it'd be like Dick Buckus would be one of the color commentators and you hear him in the background.
Paul Pabst
Ah, Christ. Come on.
Dan Patrick
Like in the middle of a call, they'd miss a tackle.
Paul Pabst
Poll question. We had some interesting poll questions starting out the show. Seaton, can you update a few of those numerous, many poll questions? The MF or for the afc. That's the more for real team or.
Dan Patrick
Most for real team right now.
Paul Pabst
Colts running away with that one. Followed not even really closely, but battle for the bottom with the Patriots, Steelers and Broncos. And then the NFC MFR is Rams.
Dan Patrick
Running away with that one.
Paul Pabst
Second place is a tie between Seahawks and Buccaneers 49ers. And last. Nobody believes in this. George Springer three run homer in the seventh inning and it sounded like this.
Dan Patrick
One zero pitch swing and a fly ball left field and deep. A Rosa Reina turns good. A Springer Dinger 43 Blue Jays in the bottom of the seventh.
Paul Pabst
Blue Jays radio Network the Mariners. Great run, but the Blue Jays have now had 52 comeback wins this season if you include the regular season in the postseason. As for Cal Raleigh, he was in the on deck circle when the last out took place. Didn't get a chance. He did homer in the fifth inning. 65 home runs this season, regular season, postseason. Tied for the fourth most in a single season. Stat of the day brought to you by Panini America. The official trading cards of the Dan Patrick show. You had product placement in the ninth inning of that game on Fox. Was it Fox? Yes, it was funked that they had to get in a commercial or a graphic. Is that what happened there? Your one big complaint?
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I was a little salty. Look, I know ads. We have lots of ads in our show. Everyone has lots of ads in their shows and their broadcasts. Two outs, top of the ninth in the middle of an at Bat. They cut away from the audio. You still have the picture on the screen to a credit card ad for 15 seconds with Jennifer Garner, which was nice, but a credit card ad in the middle of the at bat wasn't even between batters. There's a flow that happens in a baseball game of tension and crowd. And they jumped in with a product. And a lot of people were bothered by. In the moment because I don't think it does the sponsor any good because they're interrupting.
Paul Pabst
Well, I don't know. If you say, I'm not going to use Jennifer Garner's credit card now.
Dan Patrick
Well, like, they're under orders to play that. When they have to play it, you have no choice. But, man, it was a hard left turn for 15 seconds.
Paul Pabst
Yeah, but that's the product placement. You probably paid more to have it air right then. Or you had a commercial that you had to make up and then you had to squeeze that in. But it's like, I love Jennifer Garner. I don't need her right now in the ninth inning. Yes, Paul, that's where you're really messing.
Dan Patrick
With the flow of a broadcast, though. Like, if you have an injured player and you got to take a break, you take a break. Or if you have an ad, even between at bats, maybe. But this was. The at bat was still going on. Yeah.
Paul Pabst
Congrats to the Blue Jays, though. That was. They held on for dear life. That was a great series back and forth. But Seattle wins those first two, and you're thinking, all right, maybe five, maybe six games, they're going to the World Series for the first time in franchise history. And here the Blue Jays. When the Blue Jays go. The Blue Jays win. They won in the early 90s. And now. Now they're back. This is where you have a stat, and it'll have to do with the Blue Jays in the early 90s and then this Blue Jay team. And somehow they'll try to compare the stats, even though nobody obviously today played on the 91 or 92, 93 Blue Jays. But all of a sudden, we kind of lump them in. Or. Or the Yankees in the postseason are whatever. Be like, not these Yankees like Mantle and DiMaggio and Babe Ruth, but we do kind of. Oh, it's the same team. Same franchise. Yes.
Dan Patrick
Marvin, if you're the Blue Jays, who's throwing out the first pitch for game three? I think that's their first home game.
Paul Pabst
Joe Carter. Okay, Joe Carter. Or is Cedo Gaston still alive? He was the manager, but I would think Joe Carter would be Great to have. Any other suggestions? You got your Blue Jays hat on.
Dan Patrick
Go Blue Jays. Okay, come on now. All right, maybe Dave Winfield.
Paul Pabst
Dave Winfield.
Dan Patrick
Think he was on those Blue Jays teams, man.
Paul Pabst
But I don't. If you think he was on those blue chain teams, then you don't really. It's not like he comes to mind being on the Paul Molitor.
Dan Patrick
Well, I said Dave Winfield because I knew for sure.
Paul Pabst
I would say Paul Molitor. He was on one of those championship teams. Yeah, Paul.
Dan Patrick
So probably not Roger Clemens. Probably not gonna lean against that one.
Paul Pabst
I would. Yeah, I would. Yeah. Well, they didn't win those, those Blue Jays. Yeah. See, we'll go.
Dan Patrick
Ricky henderson.
Paul Pabst
Well, that 93 year was. Was a good one.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Paul Pabst
If. If he throws out the first pitch, that'd be tv. That'll be. That'll be a miracle. That would be a miracle.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Yeah.
Paul Pabst
Hey, but I'm not ruling it out. I'm not ruling it out either. If there's anybody who can do it. How about. Here you go. Getty Lee, the lead singer of Rush. Huge baseball fan. Yes, Martin.
Dan Patrick
He sings the Canadian national anthem, but not those other.
Paul Pabst
And then walks in. In and throws the first pitch.
Dan Patrick
Okay, two for two. All right.
Paul Pabst
And throws a dime right there. And they got a tour. They're going to be touring. So, you know, maybe. I'm sure he'd love to do it. He's got a ton of memorabilia, ton of baseball memorabilia. Remember Dan Rather, the former CBS newsman? He does an interviewing show and he was at Getty Lee's house and he's got one room that's just all baseball memorabilia. Crazy. I saw where they're talking about now. I don't know if this is the combined value of the three home runs that Shohei Otani hit in the last game, but they were talking about being worth over $3 million, maybe $4 million.
Dan Patrick
Now.
Paul Pabst
I don't, I don't know if that's all three of those baseballs that you have to get them all together and you have to say to everybody, we're going to split this equally. Everybody gets, you know, $1.3 million and somebody's going to want those three home runs. But I saw it. I don't know. I'm guessing it has to be all three of them, not just one of those home runs. Let me see John in Maine. Hi, John. What's on your mind today? Hey, Dan. Hey, guys. Just wanted to chime in on the college coaches for these big contracts. They get a 10 year contract and like a $50 million buyout. Why don't the colleges put a stipulation in there? They only get 10% of that buyout each year. That way, if they fall flat on their face after three years, they're only paying out 15 million instead of 50. Yes.
Dan Patrick
Paul, which college is going to step up and do that first?
Paul Pabst
Which coach is going to agree to do that?
Dan Patrick
Right.
Paul Pabst
More importantly, it's the coach who's going to go. Okay?
Dan Patrick
Because let's say Virginia Tech says, we'll do that. We're going to be stringent. No one's going to sign with Virginia Tech. They'll go elsewhere where there aren't rules like that. It's almost like you need some type of level of collusion for all these colleges, and they don't do that. They won't collude together. Someone's going to say, I'll overpay, because then I'll get blank. Coach?
Paul Pabst
Yeah. Thank you, John. Thanks for your phone call. I can't remember where we've had this many openings in college football halfway through the season. This has to be a record. And you have, you know, some marquee jobs that are open and more to come. Now, Florida State has already said they're making their decision at the end of the year. They might have already made their decision. I'm guessing they have. But, you know, you got Oklahoma State, you got Penn State in there. You got Virginia Tech in there. You got Florida in there. Yes, Paulie.
Dan Patrick
And that would be a lot in January.
Paul Pabst
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Florida, Penn State, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech, ucla. Technically open.
Paul Pabst
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Stanford, you know, I mean, there's a lot going on.
Paul Pabst
Well, Stanford, it's not.
Dan Patrick
Not Stanford, but, I mean, that's nuts.
Paul Pabst
Anthony in West Virginia. Hi, Anthony.
Dan Patrick
I got a question for that, Dan. It's the honor to call the show.
Paul Pabst
But do you guys ever get lost.
Dan Patrick
In the moment, lost in the show.
Paul Pabst
And you just forget to do your job?
Dan Patrick
I'm pretty excluded. Everybody else, you just sometimes, like, man.
Paul Pabst
Dan is just great.
Dan Patrick
He's killing it. And I'm just enjoying the show.
Paul Pabst
I forgot to even do what I was supposed to do. Thanks, guys. All right, Anthony. By the way, Fritz, he has a lot of different things going on. It's not just listening to the show. He's trying to line up the guests that mean there's things that go on while I'm speaking that these guys are, you know, working on or part of their job responsibility. But I don't know if you guys have ever kind of caught yourself Going, oh, I am. I'm on. Yeah. See? So the question was, do we ever get lost in your greatness while doing.
Dan Patrick
The show that we sometimes forget we're here working?
Paul Pabst
That was the question. Yes. Yes. Do you ever get lost in my greatness? Only in your eyes.
Dan Patrick
Thank you. No offense to your work, but only in your eyes.
Paul Pabst
I get lost in those often. There is no lifeguard on duty if you drown. You guys ever just get so lost in watching Dan be great that you just forget who you are for a second? Marvin, do you get lost in my crazy. The light, the heat, your eyes?
Dan Patrick
No, but I'm never jaded. I'm never like, oh, I gotta go to work, because somebody will remind me, man, you're a sports geek like I was and you were for Dan Patrick.
Paul Pabst
Todd, you ever get lost in my greatness?
Dan Patrick
I'll get caught up in a certain interview where I can't believe that you got someone to admit something or say something and you forget for a minute. You just kind of as a fan or someone in the car listening, as opposed to that you're a staff member of the show. That's the best way I can describe my experience.
Paul Pabst
Paulie. You get lost in my greatness.
Dan Patrick
I get locked in on the show when we're doing something great where there could be a fire behind me and I wouldn't notice it because when we're really hitting ourselves.
Paul Pabst
But do you get lost in my greatness?
Dan Patrick
I wouldn't use that phrase.
Paul Pabst
Okay.
Dan Patrick
By the way, the Stanford job is kind of open. Frank Reich agreed to serve as this year's coach on an interim basis whilst they do a national search. So it's semi open.
Paul Pabst
Andrew Locke's taking that job. Oh, I don't know. I've felt that the whole time that he was there that he wants to be so close to the action that the only. The closest you can get is to being the coach. Yes. I'm calling that as my excuse from now on.
Dan Patrick
What next time I don't do my job or something.
Paul Pabst
You know what?
Dan Patrick
I was just lost in your greatness. I apologize.
Paul Pabst
Okay.
Dan Patrick
Next time I'll try not to get lost in how great you are.
Paul Pabst
Thank you. I'll try not to be great. Therefore, I won't put you. Good luck with that one impossible task for you, Dan Patrick. Yes.
Dan Patrick
I don't know if we got back to you on that, but Cedo Gaston appears to still be living and age 81.
Paul Pabst
Okay, well, that's good. I would need to have a definitive on that. Not we're pretty sure I've looked at.
Dan Patrick
Like seven different things that suggest that he is still suggest.
Paul Pabst
Do they? We suggest that he's still alive.
Dan Patrick
It also says he was recently some type of special advisor for a Toronto Maple Leafs team that's actually a semi pro baseball team affiliated with the Blue Jays that are called the Maple Leafs, which is interesting. Okay, I got a hockey name for a baseball affiliate affiliation to the Blue Jays.
Paul Pabst
But we, we, we're suggesting that Cedo Gaston, the manager for the Blue Jays.
Dan Patrick
Is still not seeing birth date. I'm not seeing anything beyond that, which is nice to hear that he is an American, former Major League baseball. Not was. I'm not saying any wases. I'm very happy to hear that. I like Cedo.
Paul Pabst
You've called for dead people before.
Dan Patrick
Yes, I invited Sugar Ray Robinson on the show not that many years ago, and his widow had explained why he would not be able to appear on a program I was working on. I was very embarrassed.
Paul Pabst
How did you ask for the, the great fighter?
Dan Patrick
I somehow I got a number and a woman answered. She said, and I said, I told him who I was with and we were interested in having Sugar Ray Robinson on the program and, you know, wanted to see what his schedule looked like and that's not going to be possible. And then she proceeded to explain what year, you know, he passed away. And I apologized and got very flushed in the face and sweaty and that's okay. Very uncomfortable.
Paul Pabst
All right, but you tried. How many years had he been dead?
Dan Patrick
Several. It wasn't the kind of thing I was saying. Oh, I didn't hear that. Tuberculosis last Thursday.
Paul Pabst
It wasn't like tuberculosis.
Dan Patrick
Whatever it was. What generation is it?
Paul Pabst
Yeah, it was quite, it was back in the 20s.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Sorry for your loss. It was actually many years ago, so. But I appreciate the sentiment.
Paul Pabst
I'm sorry they succumbed to polio.
Dan Patrick
And then I said, so what about next Tuesday? We can't do it any day.
Paul Pabst
How about we take a break? Those are all back on the menu these days, by the way. Reggie Miller, alive and well. Reggie Aloysius Miller Jr. The third will join us right after this.

Paul Pabst
In shockingly similar ways, both were discovered by the same student, Brandon Grossheim.
Dan Patrick
I laid him down and proceeded. I tilted his head back and proceeded again, mouth to mouth in cpr.

Falling out of Windows podcast is Back Sad Oligarch Season 2 Since we left you in 2023 after season one, many politically motivated Russian millionaires have continued to die in suspicious circumstances. We dig deeper into these odd deaths which include everything from mushroom poisoning and mysterious heart attacks, the window clumsiness and suicide by decapitation. One thing we have found since we started back in 2022 is the information on the suspicious deaths has become much harder to find.
Paul Pabst
Not just that, it seems as if.
Dan Patrick
State controlled media in Russia is being utilized to purposely confuse and contradict the reporting that gets put out. As you can probably imagine, season two gets very weird. Listen to Sad Oligarch on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.

We had a shooting contest about a half hour ago with the Danets and some people have said go to the replay. Look like Seaton was stepping over the line on quite a few shots. We'll get our replay judges on that and if he's DQ then that would mean that Fritzi would be the best shooter in the building. Is that fair? Todd, are you getting some feedback here since you passed the email to me?
Dan Patrick
I didn't send you anything. I just noticed something on social media. I don't forward emails or anything like that or tweets but I know I lost five to four but there was questions about where our feet were on the line.
Paul Pabst
Don't call it a comeback. He's Reggie Miller, the Hall of Famer and He is in OKC Rockets Thunder 7:30 Eastern. Mike Chico is there. Reggie, Jamal Crawford, Warriors, Lakers then follow up. Reg, how are you buddy?
Dan Patrick
My friend. My friends.
Paul Pabst
Oh.
Dan Patrick
We are back. I have missed you guys. This is my heart is filled right now because of this.
Paul Pabst
Well we're glad to have you on the team at Peacock and NBC. Give me let's say the top three storylines this year will be what?
Dan Patrick
Well number one we have not had back to Back champions in seven years. Right. So I think, number one, are the Thunder poised to be that breakthrough team that could be back to back champions? Number one. Number two, look, the health of LeBron and going forward for the Lakers, I think with the transformation of Luca and his body and the Lakers and having a full training camp, if LeBron can come back or not come back and not be the type of player that we just saw a year ago when he was an all NBA player, obviously the Lakers are always on that radar. And who's going to be the team in the east to break through Boston down, obviously with Tatum and the Achilles injury, even though there's rumblings he may come back, but clearly they won't be the same. Obviously, Tyrese Halliburton and the Pacers will be down to me, Cleveland, 64 wins a year ago, the best record in the east, and the Knicks. Let me say this for all my beautiful New Yorker, my Knicks fans, if y' all don't win it this year coming out the east, something is clearly wrong. So to me, the two top teams in the east are the Cavs and the Knicks. That would be my third storyline who's going to break through and kind of reign supreme in the Eastern Conference.
Paul Pabst
All right, let me go back to the Lakers. When LeBron comes back, he's been the man in every team that he's been on. Now he's not the man. It's Luca's team. I don't know if you ever felt that in your career, but was 19 years, like, was there ever a point where you weren't the main guy, but getting used to that role? And I wonder about LeBron accepting that. Or can he? Or does he?
Dan Patrick
I think he can. I think he will. And yes, I think all aging star players, I wouldn't put myself in that category with LeBron. But we've all gone through it and I welcomed it. And I know exactly for me, when it happened, it was the year after we went to the Finals. I had ankle surgery. We were starting new Isaiah Thomas was coming in for Larry Bird. We had just traded for Jermaine o'. Neal. So clearly we were going younger. And if we wanted to continue that level of excellence, I knew that I had to take a step back. And I knew that Jermaine o', Neal, Al Harrington, Jonathan Bender, Jamal Tinsley, those guys were going to have to grow. And not that Luka needs to grow because he's already an all NBA player, but I think this is a welcome sight for LeBron. Let's not. Let's remember I mentioned this before. He was all NBA just a year ago and his numbers in year 22 were unbelievable. I don't know if he'll have those type of numbers, but I think taking a step back and letting Luca carry the load. What? There's nothing wrong with a 25, 26 year old carrying the load. And I knew my time would come come playoffs when I was with Jermaine and them. So I just kind of wanted to tread water for the regular season. And once middle of March, April hit Dan, that's when I would ramp up my minutes, my conditioning to get ready for the grind of the playoffs. And I think we'll see a lot of that from LeBron.
Paul Pabst
Yeah, I think it could be a good thing that maybe you can limit those minutes even when he comes back, because this is about the postseason. But we're looking at OKC is the big favorite here. Denver's also in there. And then the east is, you know, without Tatum in there, Boston is fallible. Do you think the Knicks are the best team in the East?
Dan Patrick
I do. I think still Cleveland will have the best record and they'll win the east again the regular season. But they haven't proven themselves in the playoffs. And as great as Donovan Mitchell has been all NBA, as great as Evan Mobley is becoming, I think he'll take another step. I love their starting five. I love coach Kenny Atkinson, but they, they just haven't been able to get over the hump come playoff time. I know the Knicks and I. It's a little bit different this year now that Mike Brown's at the helm and the offense will be a little bit different. But at the end of the day, they've got the best clutch player in Jalen Brunson. And just the cohesiveness of the Knicks team. I think come playoff time, they'll be able to take that next step again. There's a lot of games to be played. Obviously all this is bar and injury, as I always say. But I just think the Knicks, they're. They're poised to take that next step and represent the East.
Paul Pabst
What do you expect out of Golden State?
Dan Patrick
Bar and injury. Look, Steph has to remain healthy. I know he want or he played 70 games a year ago. Draymond, a full season and training camp with Jimmy Butler, that can help. But to me, if the warriors want to take the next step, it has to come from within. Brandon Jamitsky and Quinton Post, those two young players, if Pajimski can take that next Leap. I know he's 22, 23, but this young man has everything it takes to be a great side piece and sidekick for Stephen Curry. So if the younger guys can develop, get timely shooting from Buddy Hill. The problem is the west is loaded and there's 10, 11 teams and every night you're going to be in a dog fight. So a rolled ankle by Curry and he's out for a little bit. I don't know if there's going to be enough scoring. You know, they have a punisher's chance because of Curry.
Paul Pabst
I'm glad you clarified the side piece, by the way. Just doing LA work. Reggie Miller, the Hall of Famer, he'll be on the call tonight with Mike Tirico and Jamal Crawford. Oh, best shooter in the building will be who?
Dan Patrick
Come on, man, stop it.
Paul Pabst
I love me some best score. Best scorer in the building.
Dan Patrick
Now stop it too. Stop it too. I know. J. Cross. Unbelievable. Now you're saying who has the best handles at the table? I'm going to give that to. To Jamal. Okay, But I was a score too, not just a shooter.
Paul Pabst
What do you think is the ceiling for SGA to average? How many points do you think? Well, let me, let me rephrase it. How many points do you think he could average a game? Not. They probably don't want him getting 30. They want it to be a team effort. But how many do you.
Dan Patrick
Well, he averaged 32 a year ago. I think he could average 35 easy just because of his skill set. I think that number comes. It'll come down a little bit. I think it'll be high early because Jalen Williams is out, the second best player on this team out with a wrist injury, won't be in the starting lineup opening night. So I think his scoring is going to be up until J Dub comes back. But I think they would like that number anywhere between 28 to 30, 31 points because less is more. But this dude is such a gifted playmaker and score. He's got, he's got it all, Dan.
Paul Pabst
But how did he not. He came up in the three point era. He's not the top 50 with three.
Dan Patrick
Pointers, but I think he's developed it to. Developed it to keep teams honest. He can knock them down, but he's a throwback. He's an old school type player that likes to get to the mid range. And as we know, come playoff time, what's more effective? When the game becomes a half court game, your mid range game. So during the regular season everyone's all about the threes. And I get it. But people need to understand what playoff basketball is all about. And for a player that's so young, at the age of 27 to recognize that. And again, he does have a three point shot. He just doesn't shoot the volume volume of them like a lot of players do. He understands where his bread is buttered.
Paul Pabst
Michael Jordan's role at NBC, what have you been told?
Dan Patrick
Absolutely nothing.
Paul Pabst
You're not curious?
Dan Patrick
Oh, I am very curious. I can't wait. I mean, to have him a part of whatever part he wants to play in this broadcast. I'm all for. Yeah, it's great. But they don't tell us anything. I'm very low man on the totem pole.
Paul Pabst
No, you got to ask Cherico, probably below you. You got to ask Tirico Torico. I think it's going to be sort of like Kobe, inside the mind of Kobe. Details.
Dan Patrick
Wouldn't you like to see that? I would love to see that.
Paul Pabst
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
And hear that.
Paul Pabst
You imagine if he was a color commentator on a game, he would just roast people, wouldn't he?
Dan Patrick
But that would be great. Including us, including his partner. Not only the players on the court, but he would be roasting Jerico, Jamal, myself. But I can't wait.
Paul Pabst
But can great players get inside their own heads to explain? Like sometimes. And I only go from memory where I asked John McEnroe, I said, how do you do what you do? And he goes, I don't know. I just do it. I don't know if great players analyze what made them great.
Dan Patrick
Well, look, I. I will say what's made Charles Barkley great on TV is that it comes from a place of honesty. That's kind of mj. MJ is front and center. He's not going to sugarcoat anything. Mac was the same way. When you listen to Mac on all those unbelievable, you know, Wimbledon's and French Omen Opens and US Opens, it comes from a place of honesty because of experience. Number one. They've been there, they're champions. But they're just telling it like he is. And I think a lot of people at home, they appreciate that.
Paul Pabst
Kevin Durant, two more years, $90 million.
Dan Patrick
This is the perfect for. For him though. Theodore, just think about this. When I watched Houston a year ago, I love the young talent. I love the heart. I love the being well coached by ime. They had all the pieces. But against Golden State in that first round, when those games got tight, as. As good as a champion as Fred Van Vliet is he's only 6:1 and he can only do so much. Now you go out and get arguably one of the best closers, scorers, shooters that this game has ever seen. And oh, by the way, even though he says he's 6 10, 6 11, he's really like 7 1. This was the perfect fit for him. A veteran surrounded by some young gunslingers and well coached. A good bench, perfect move. And this is how diabolical the league is. Are you kidding me? Opening night, we're going to send him back to the place where he won an mvp knowing that there is so much, I should say, animosity towards him in this building. Oh, by the way, we're going to raise the banner, get our championship rings while you look on. You can't write a better script than that, Theo.
Paul Pabst
Okay. What do you think his career would have been like had he stayed in okc?
Dan Patrick
I think they would have won a championship if him and Russ were here. I really do. I mean, you were up 31 against Golden State. They were supposed to be going head to head, battle for battle for the next five or six years. I really do believe they would have won a championship here together. I do.
Paul Pabst
I think the Rockets are the tallest starting five in the NBA. Does that sound right?
Dan Patrick
Yes, they are and they're starting it tonight. And that's going to be interesting because if I'm OKC and I'm Cason Wallace and I'm Alex Caruso and I'm sga, I'm going like this. Remember, the Thunder had the number one defense a year ago. They forced the most turnovers in 17. They had the most deals a game in 10. So right now who's bringing the ball up? Amin Thompson, who's great, but he's 6, 8, 6 9. I mean this is Reed shepherd, second year player out of Kentucky, coming off the bench. If I'm the Thunder, they're like, bring it on, bring it on. Big lineup, how they can beat them on the board. So it's it. There's give and take, but you're playing into OKC's hands with that big lineup.
Paul Pabst
Victor Wembanyama added some weight and.
Dan Patrick
Scary.
Paul Pabst
Yeah, I, I picked Luca to be the MVP this year. It feels like it when Benyama is going to come in and then once he figures a little bit more out, gets the right people getting him the ball in the right places. I just, I think he'll be the best player in basket. Best two way player in the game.
Dan Patrick
Well, at some point, yes. I think we can we don't even have to pencil him in for the defensive player of the year. Should we do. Should we go straight to the pin?
Paul Pabst
It should have been. He should have wanted last year but.
Dan Patrick
He didn't qualify for games. Right. He was running away with it. So if he obviously qualifies for games this year, he'll clearly win defensive player of the year. And to your point, I think he will be in the top five in the MVP voting.
Paul Pabst
Who do you have mvp?
Dan Patrick
It'll either be Jokic or Luka. To your point.
Paul Pabst
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Then sga. Then it's between Giannis and Victor as the top five.
Paul Pabst
Does Giannis end his season in Milwaukee?
Dan Patrick
It depends on how they start. I think if they start off slow, I would not be surprised if both sides. I think I just have a feeling he may end up in.
Paul Pabst
New York. New York. Oh no. They got Carl Anthony Towns, the best shooting big man of all time.
Dan Patrick
Self declared he may be the best shooting big man in Milwaukee.
Paul Pabst
Who is the best shooting big man of all time?
Dan Patrick
Are we considering Dirk, right? Dirk Davis, a big man, right? I would say Dirk. I would say Arvida Sabonis was a great big. Bill Lambert, good shooting, big man. Obviously Carl Anthony Towns, we mentioned him, but I would say Dirk, he changed.
Paul Pabst
I think he changed the game though, right?
Dan Patrick
Yes. I'm going with Dirk.
Paul Pabst
By the way. I got you career high 57. Jamal Crawford, career high 52. So might want to bring that up.
Dan Patrick
But he's had more 50 plus games so I'm going to give him credit on that. Look, we both can lace it up now.
Paul Pabst
Oh, I know. But his highlight, he's still running it.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, well, he's 15 years younger than I am, so he's. He's chasing around. His son is a baller, by the way. 15 year old son. Yeah, he can ball.
Paul Pabst
But White Chocolate still playing. Reggie, have you seen those pickup highlights with.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but those are all heavily edited. Heavily edited.
Paul Pabst
It does. It doesn't. He's still making these plays.
Dan Patrick
Yes. Yeah.
Paul Pabst
He's about your age, isn't he?
Dan Patrick
I don't know how old he is.
Paul Pabst
Jay will still. I don't want you out there getting injured. He said J. Well, is 49.
Dan Patrick
Trying to save my Achilles too?
Paul Pabst
Yes. One bad move, it's over.
Dan Patrick
It's over.
Paul Pabst
J, Will's 49.
Dan Patrick
Okay. That's 11 years younger than me. You and I are the same age.
Paul Pabst
You look better. You look better than Jay Will.
Dan Patrick
See, black don't crack. Hey, lots of water.
Paul Pabst
Had fun tonight. Great to talk to you. We'll talk to you next week.
Dan Patrick
Yes, partner. Theodore. My dad. Is we back, baby? We are back. You want to be starting something? Feel the music. Wanna be starting something? Got to be starting something.
Paul Pabst
He's a good announcer and shooter, not a good singer. He's Reggie Aloysius Miller and he'll be on NBA Tip off tonight. That's NBC. Mike Trico will be on Play by Play and Jamal Crawford will be there followed by the Warriors Lakers at 10:30 Eastern. We'll take a break. We're back after this last call for phone calls. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at fox sp radio.com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to listen live on this date, 1975. Carlton Fisk hit the home run in the 12th inning giving the Red Sox a win over the Reds. Game six of the World Series. The Reds came back to win game seven. I think I have a picture of that autograph by Carlton Fisk. Back down the hallway, right? You've seen it, haven't you, Marvin?
Dan Patrick
I have. It's right near where your RV is.
Paul Pabst
Okay. Right down around the corner. Okay. Yeah. That was 1975. Stay fair. He kept saying Stay fair. Let's see this day in sports history. Paulie, what do you have?
Dan Patrick
I got a couple. 1966, the u. S. Congress approved the afl NFL merger. Imagine if they didn't, where would be today? How about that as a what if? Fred Dreier, actor and LA Rams at the time, defensive end. He recorded two safeties in a single game. That was a record at the time against the Packers. 1976. This is a good one. The Sixers purchased The rights of Dr. J. Julius Irving from the New Jersey Nets. Nice move there. 1980, the Phillies won their first World Series and Yankees, Mets 4, 312 innings. World Series game in 2004 hours and 51 minutes. Longest World Series game ever.
Paul Pabst
2007, Rob Baroness, kicker for the Titans, 26 points. That's the most points scored in a game without a touchdown. Tennessee 13836 over the Texans, 26 points for a kicker. What would that have meant in fantasy? Point Vince in Illinois. Good morning, Vince. What's on your mind today?
Dan Patrick
Hey there.
Paul Pabst
Dan Danette. Good morning. I am 511 and 220. I am a big fan of you guys.
Dan Patrick
Been listening to you guys every single morning. Love you guys.
Paul Pabst
You guys are great. I did have a bet for you guys today. I just face bet that the Bears.
Dan Patrick
Will win NFC north division this year.
Paul Pabst
Let's go, Bears. Okay, anybody want a piece of Vincent? Illinois. He's got the Bears winning the division. Winning the division. Okay. Paul's all in with Vince in Illinois.
Dan Patrick
I am not.
Paul Pabst
Oh, you're not?
Dan Patrick
I'm not. It's. I can't bet against the bears. But they're 4 and 2. They've been outscored by three points. They're a tenuous 4 and 2. Vince said that the Bears are going to win the NFC North.
Paul Pabst
Yep.
Dan Patrick
I'll take that.
Paul Pabst
All right, Vince, you got a. You got a challenger. Seaton Bear to the faith Bear attack.
Dan Patrick
Bear claw.
Paul Pabst
Thank you, Todd. So you got a pie to the face. Vince Got a bet with Seaton Brian in Salt Lake City. Hi, Brian. What's on your mind today? I just had an idea about maybe controlling some load management in the NBA. What if instead of having a win loss record for the teams having the games played on a point system to where away games and back to back games are worth 2 point as opposed to a home game worth 1 point to where? Obviously they'd be more important if you were out of town. Paulie's usually in charge of the bad ideas department.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, leave that to me.
Paul Pabst
Yeah, we, I know we mean well and we want this, these players to play. That's why I came up with the idea that you must play at least 65 games to be eligible for postseason. These awards and there's money attached to these awards. You make first team, second team, third team. What it could mean. Now, I know that there's been. People have been critical of it, but I'm just trying to get the best players, the best product out there for the betterment of the game. Instead of going, who's playing? He's not playing tonight. Oh, he played last night. He's not going to play tonight. I get it. I get it. You make a lot of money. You want to continue to make a lot of money. I don't know how important it is to entertain the, the fans on a daily, nightly basis. I understand it. But you know, maybe those players in the 60s and 70s and 80s were naive of understanding how much more of a shelf life they could have, how much more money they could make. I, I get all of that. I guess just the purity of it. I would hope that they would play maybe a minimum of 65 to 70 games. Yes, Tom, It'd be a lot more.
Dan Patrick
Important to the league and the teams if they had to give some of the money back to the people that bought tickets in advance only to not see their favorite players play. Imagine if they had to give a portion back because you wanted to see a certain player. So then all of a sudden, it hits their pocket.
Paul Pabst
Yeah, but you could be injured.
Dan Patrick
No, those mysterious illnesses, they.
Paul Pabst
They are. But, you know, we came up with player insurance years ago. Star player insurance that, you know, you get your money back if, you know, you pay a fee and you're going to go to a game, and if that player doesn't play, then you get your money back. The opportunity to get your money back. I think that would be something that everybody could benefit from because Marvin's talked about this. He was going to take his son to see LeBron and the Lakers at the Garden. Well, you don't know if LeBron's going to play. This is a couple of years ago. If you could take out, let's say, $50 insurance on that one game LeBron plays, then you pay, LeBron doesn't. You can have the opportunity to get your money back. Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Marvin tip offers at 7:30. I bought them at 2:50pm that same day.
Paul Pabst
Yeah. All right, let's go around the room. What we learned on the program. Todd will start with you. What'd you learn today?
Dan Patrick
Reggie Mill is back. He warns Knicks fans that if they.
Paul Pabst
Don'T win at all this season, it.
Dan Patrick
Could be quite a while before that happens. Se.
Paul Pabst
And what you learned today? Yeah. Great to talk to him. How about you, Marvin?
Dan Patrick
Cedo Gaston, still alive. Yay.
Paul Pabst
Congratulations, Paul.
Dan Patrick
Kevin Harland has an understudy.
Paul Pabst
Yes, he does.
Dan Patrick
This is the NBA on Prime Video.
Paul Pabst
What did I learn today, Todd?
Dan Patrick
You can say C.J. stroud is regressing, but the Texans O line is not good. Making him look worse than he may actually be.
Paul Pabst
Yeah, you got to factor that in with these young quarterbacks. Not always on them. Thanks for joining us. Our pleasure to serve you on this Tuesday for Todd Seaton, Marv Paulie, yours truly, and the BRGs. We'll talk to you tomorrow.
