Had fun with Coach Cower and he said that he wouldn't be upset with his defense because he said there were some pivotal plays there that could have gone Pittsburgh's. And I thought that maybe if he was still the head coach, he might be a little upset with his defense that hasn't been formidable like we've expected. With Pittsburgh, we solved the Dallas Cowboys. Paulie came up with a great idea to trade for Miles Garrett. Now they did. I from what I'm told and what's been reported, they reached out to the Raiders for Max Crosby and the Bengals for Trey Hendrickson. It makes sense. But Jerry Jones finally got around to saying, you know what? Maybe my defense isn't that good if you don't have a pass rusher. Those defensive backs even more exposed and they have not been good at all. Offense has been really good except for yesterday when they went up against a really good Broncos defense. The Broncos lead the NFL with 36 sacks. They've allowed a league low eight sacks. So they're the first team in NFL history with those numbers through the first eight games of a season in the history of the NFL in at least 35 sacks and 10 or fewer sacks allowed. Start of the day, Start of the day. Start of the day. Start of the day. This is the start of the day. Brought to you by Panini America. The official trading cards of the program. Good morning. If you're watching on Peacock, that's our streaming partner and our radio affiliates around the country. Operator Tyler sitting by. He'll take your phone calls. 88773 DP Show. But if I said the following, which team do you believe in more, Denver or the Colts Oh, Colts got the best record in football. Incredible stats, great offense. They get 30 points a game. Danny Dimes playing well. Jonathan Taylor at an MVP level. Or the Broncos, who were a playoff team last year with Bo Nicks. They got weapons. They got a really good defense. You got a future hall of Fame coach and Sean Payton. So who do you believe in more? I would say Denver, because I saw it last year. But the Colts have been impressive. Now, they did beat Denver, and that was on the leverage call that went against Denver. They had the Chargers when the Chargers, although they beat him in la, but the Chargers were banged up. But still, you know, when people come up with excuses, I'm like, you got to win the game. I don't care who's playing. And not playing. Like the Bears playing against the Ravens. Beat them. That defense gives up 30 points every single game. You got a backup quarterback and you guys have been playing well, and then you guys get shut down. Those are the games. You just have to win them. Might not be pretty. Hey, they didn't have Lamar Jackson. Who cares? When's the last time somebody said, hey, I won all these golf tournaments, but Tiger didn't play in all but two of them. Like, nobody tells you, hey, I. I won. How many PGA Tour wins do you have? I'd like to know how many wins guys got when Tiger wasn't in the field or Jack Nicklaus wasn't in the field. But we don't do that. You just got to win. You play. If that guy didn't play or those guys didn't play, I don't care. Just win. And that's what you have with the NFL. Degree of difficulty. You get nothing out of that. Hey, you beat the Bengals. They didn't have Joe Burrow. You're the Jets. It doesn't matter. You won a game. That's all you're asking for. Win a game and the Ravens are going to be in the mix. They are. Now. This game on Thursday against Miami is really interesting from this perspective. If. If you're the Ravens, can you hold Lamar Jackson out one more game and give him even, you know, two weeks to get healthy or. But the Dolphins looked impressive. Could they get back to back wins here? Maybe you're saving Mike McDaniel's job, and that's what happens. I think LSU might have been concerned if they keep Brian Kelly on for the Alabama game and he wins the Alabama game. Can you fire him after that? There's a lot of suggestions here on who LSU might go after, including James Franklin Lane, Kiffin is high on that list. Joe Brady, who was the quarterbacks coach when they had Joe Burrow there, he's now in Buffalo. He might get a head coaching job in the NFL. Eli Drinkwitz @ Missouri, Jeff Brahm at Louisville. So you got some guys now. I don't know. John Sumrall. Where does John Sumrall coach? Because right now he is the favorite. Tulane. Oh, okay. Andy Staples talked about that. Okay. The odds makers say LSU will stay in state to hire T. Lane's John Sumrall. Now, this is just odds makers. Joe Brady, the OC from their last magical run, is a close second. Okay. You can get to Lane's Jones. Some wrong. Joe Brady would be interesting. I don't think Joe has ever been a head coach anywhere. Yeah, Paulie. The Joe Brady thing is awkward, though, because I can't imagine him leaving Buffalo during the season. So you'd have to wait till February for Joe Brady on the Bills. Yeah, that's an awkward one. Yeah. Yeah. So those are the odds as of today, replacing Brian Kelly. Brian Kelly was asked about his future after the loss to Texas A and M on Saturday. What level of concern do you have for yourself with the faith the program should have for you? I mean, that's out of my hands. You know, it's impossible for the head coach that's been here, you know, for four years and 35 years of doing this to think anything else. But this is my responsibility, and we've got to get it turned around. He won't get that opportunity. He went 23 and three at home, at LSU. 23 and three. The three losses were by 24 or more points. That's where you get fired. That's how you get fired. You get embarrassed at home against Texas A and M who hadn't beaten you in a long, long, long time. And that's why he's out. But, you know, when you start to think about what. What's going on in college football, so there's more money, there's less caution, and the days of long rebuilds and second chances are fading fast. You know, you go back to nil. It didn't just change recruiting, it changed the power structure of the sport. And if you know the early signs or any indication, you know, the coaching carousel, the football carousel is picking up speed. It is not slowing down. All right, we'll get to best and worst of the weekend. What you saw that you liked, you didn't like. How about worse? Loss of the weekend. I'm going to put the Bengals there because you're at home. It's been a good story with Joe Flacco. You're playing the jets, and all you got to do is be a.500 team. Hold on for dear life. Maybe Joe Burrow comes back and you can squeak into the playoffs. The Bears, maybe they are who we think they are. Maybe they're just a middling team right now. Steelers at home against Green Bay. You can get away with those losses with a bad division, but at some point, you're going to have to win these games or a game like this. Packers are a really good team and Jordan Love played really well, but you're. You're the Steelers at home. And it wasn't a home field advantage because Aaron Rodgers said they had to go on a silent count because there were so many Green Bay fans there. But I would say the Bengals, best win of the week, and I'd say the Jets. Would you say anybody else comes close to the jets doing what they did on the road, given what happened this past week? Yeah, Paulie, I would only go college football. Vanderbilt holding serve. You get national TV attention. It was. It could have been an easy one to give up and lose. And you're off the radar quickly. But I know it's college. It wasn't impressive. No. Now, Missouri's good, but it. I mean, it was just not a great game. Anybody else that would compete for best win of the weekend? Yeah, Paulie. The Texas comeback in overtime because Texas looked like they were in trouble against Mississippi State. And that's another one where that goes bad. You're now five and three. Yeah, they would have been. You talk about heat. And then there was a report that Steve Sarkeesian people are reaching out, checking on NFL jobs that might be just doing your due diligence. Now, I don't have any information on this. I don't know. Sark, we've had him on a couple of times, but that's where your agent could be checking on things. Or maybe somebody's checking in with your agent on something. Yes. Yeah, but I'd want to know, why are you diligenting? Why are you doing. That's what agents do. Yeah. Yeah. Should do it more quietly than that. Diana Rossini had the report that Sark was. Or Sark's people. Why is there any diligence happening right now? Nobody said it was due. Yeah. What? Your diligence isn't due. My question would be, well, if you can't figure it out at Texas with all those resources, why am I going to bring you into Carolina or Miami. I'm not doing that. I mean, Sark's never done anything where I go, you got to have him. I think there's always the potential and he's, you know, off offensive minded. Head coach. But you got a lot of resources there. Texas. But if I'm an NFL owner, I'm not going. I got to have him. Why? Yes, Paul, do you think more of these college coaches are going to lean towards the NFL because it's a simpler lifestyle as a coach? Yeah, I mean, I think it is a simpler way. You just have to coach. I mean, you still have to run your team and be a CEO. But college football, it is tough. College football, I don't have to worry about, you know, money. I got boosters, but I got to, I got to deal with teenagers. I have a hard time as a parent dealing with teenagers, let alone being a head coach. Yes. Mark? Yeah. Imagine if you were like Nick Saban or Urban Meyer. You go into the playoffs every year, you win the national title. The next day you're calling recruits, you're back on the road the night, the night after. We've seen that before. These coaches will win a national title and Saban will be on the phone with a recruit and they're behind the eight ball because they've been playing instead of recruiting like the other schools. Yes. They've been in the playoffs. Yes. Paul, if this were college football, John Harbaugh would have been fired last week starting one in five. Because that's what happens this year with college football. Yes, but it doesn't make sense because it's the pros and they're patient. NBA on NBC and Peacock, it's the coast to coast Tuesday primetime debut. The Knicks and Bucks and then Clippers and the Warriors. Check your local listings or you can stream both games on Peacock. Nothing really stood out. Jumped out. Any further news out of the investigation with the poker game? You also had the gambling on games and prop bets. But the NFL, it washes everything away. It's the great car wash. Just, just get into the weekend and the NFL, the great car wash. And all of a sudden that car comes out and looks okay. All right. Hey, Wemby's playing great. Shay Gilge is playing great. Austin Reeves at 51. Luke is going to be out, I guess for at least a week, maybe two weeks. But yeah, thank goodness for the NFL with all these sports. That's why you get that news dump on a Friday and if you can get to a Friday at 5 o' clock and all of A sudden put something out. You go into the weekend. That story's gone by Monday. Or at least that's the hope. Yes, Marvin. NBA pr. Oh, Brian Kelly got fired. Yes. All right. Paul in Iowa. Paul, Best and worst of the weekend. Hey, Dan, you know, I was thinking that between last night and the Packers, Acme Brown, Aaron Rodgers might have worn the worst two throwbacks in NFL history. But my, my best of the weekend. Big best two home wins over the weekend for the Des Moines Buc. Future NHL stars overtime win on Saturday over the US Developmental team. And Dan, as the game host for the Buccaneers, I would love to invite you, when you make your trip through Iowa to a hockey game, come see some future pros. As amateurs. We can get the Danets on the ice for some intermission fun. Sounds like a good time. Well, thank you, Paul. I'll do the programming around here. Yes, Paulie. When I think Pirate activity, I think of Des Moines, Iowa, the Buccaneers, the logo, the big pirate. Pirate activity. Yeah. Thank you, Paul. Larry in Michigan. Hi, Larry. Hey, Dan. I'm calling because I'm getting a little frustrated with the way these college coaches buyouts are being reported. So you see 50 million for Brian Kelly, 53 million for James Franklin. But the reality is almost all these contracts have these duty to mitigate clauses where they have to go look for another job. And if they get one, then LSU and Penn State are not going to have to pay them all that money. So it's like every national head reports it as if, how could you pay this guy this much money not to coach? There's so many jobs open, they're almost definitely not going to pay him that because Brian Kelly and James Franklin are going to get other major jobs that are going to offset whatever LSU and Penn State owe them. But it's, it doesn't mean you have to take the job. You just have to look for a job. True. But again, like, I think it's pretty likely that both of those guys are going to get other major jobs if they want them. Yeah, Jimbo Fisher's not working well. He didn't have a duty to mitigate clause, though. That's the whole thing. So. And lsuad, who gave Jimbo that contract, probably realized that he should have given him a duty to mitigate clause in the contract because he did it with Brian Kelly. I was going to say this athletic director has given out Jimbo Fisher's contract and Brian Kelly's contract. Yeah, thank you for that, Larry. But you can look for a job, but that it's like if you go to a bar and you're single and you might be looking to date somebody, you don't have to, you're just looking, that's all. They were never looking for me. That was the problem. I was looking for them, but they never looked for me. Be like, huh, you know when you have like a fresh zit and it's like right there on the end of your nose and you're trying to walk up and you put Clearasil on your, the, the skin colored Clearasil and you're walking up, you're going, hi. And you notice they're fixating on, you know, your nose and the pimple that's there. And I knew I was just dead on arrival. Dead on arrival. Yeah. Paul, it's like high school when you're a junior and your parents say go out and find a job and you kind of go around, you fill out applications and you go home and you hope they don't call like the Dairy Queen or the lifeguard place. Yeah. Hey, did you, did you go apply at the golf course? Yes, yes, I went there. Did anybody call? No. All right, we'll take a break. More phone calls coming up. Hey there. I'm Kyle McLaughlin. You might know me as that guy from Twin Peaks, Sex and the City, or just the Internet's dad. I have a new podcast called what Are We Even Doing? Where I embark on a noble quest to understand the brilliant chaos of youth culture. Daddy's looking good. Each week I invite someone fascinating to join me. Hey, I'm Kalpen, and on my new podcast, Here We Go Again, we'll take today's trends and headlines and ask, why does history keep repeating itself? You may know me as the second hottest actor from the Harold and Kumar movies, but I'm also an author, a White House staffer, and, as of like, 15 seconds ago, a podcast host. Along the way, I've made some friends who are experts in science, politics, and pop culture. And each week, one of them will be joining me to answer my burning questions, like, are we heading towards another financial crash? Like in 08, is non monogamy back in style? And how come there's never a gate ready for your flight when it lands, like, two minutes early? We've got guests like Pete Buttigieg, Stacey Abrams, Lilly Singh, and Bill Nye. When you start weaponizing outer space, things can potentially go really wrong. Look, the world can seem pretty scary right now, because it is. But my goal here is for you to listen and feel a little better about the future. Listen and subscribe to Here We Go Again with Kal Penn on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Cam Scoutaboo injury. That was a bummer. Bummer for everybody there. It was a good story, but, you know, the Giants were trying to hang in there, and I don't know what happens to the body when you have an injury like that, because Scatterboo knew that he had maybe broken his ankle or dislocated it and it would be painful, but it's almost as if, like, he stopped and he just was pointing at, hey, something's up with my ankle there. And I don't know if just their shock or something happens where the body protects you in some way, but, man, you knew right away, you know, there's certain injuries, and then when the network isn't showing you replays of it, which is good, I get it. But understanding, you know, the severity of that, you didn't have to go. I think it might be. It felt like you knew right away, but that's a serious ankle injury. Dislocated, I think having surgery today in Philadelphia. And you know, you lose Malik neighbors. So the Giants have something there. Like this is a story that could play out where maybe Brian Dable keeps his job. Maybe scoutaboo is going to be one of those, man. He's going to be Marshawn Lynch 2.0 Malik neighbors, who I think can be a great wide receiver. Defense has some players. It's about finding your quarterback. If they found their quarterback and Jackson, Darth, now you can really begin the process of we can compete in the NFC east maybe next year. Yeah, Paulie Scatterber was having a nice season. He was on pace for 900 yards rushing and 55 catches as a rookie and getting hurt going out for a pass. By the way, the Ravens were all over the place with Lamar Jackson's injury designation. So he was listed as a full participant in practice. But Paulie did some research on this and full participant is taking all the reps. First team reps is full participant. Lamar Jackson was participating in practice, but he wasn't taking the first team reps. That's the difference. So the betting line was swinging wildly. The Ravens were favored by six and a half. It went down to two. Two and a half. They said it's an honest mistake. Now maybe it's, you know, people on the staff in pr, their job is to keep an eye on this. I didn't think that it was. Let's get a competitive advantage on the Bears where we're not going to let them know if. If Snoop Huntley is going to be playing instead of Lamar Jackson. But this comes back to gambling. So in the same week you have this investigation into the NBA and they're looking at exploiting injury information. LeBron James, he's not going to play. Or if Chauncey Billups told somebody, hey, I'm going to sit my first three starters or four starters and, you know, bet accordingly. It's all about gambling. And I just think that mistake, Mike, an honest mistake, might cost the Ravens some draft picks. That's how serious this is. Brad in Connecticut. Hi, Brad. What's on your mind? Good morning, Dan. Best and worse. And quick comment about the Steelers. So best of the weekend was the Springsteen movie. I missed you, Fritzi. I was looking for you. Worst was waiting 45 minutes for the damn movie to start. Too many ads. Your comments last week about Baltimore possibly winning the division, I think are right. The Steelers, I think, are going to lose six or seven of their next games because they got Indy, San Diego, Cincy, Buffalo, Detroit, and they still got Baltimore twice. So I think they're in huge trouble. And quick stat with them. I believe over the last two games, they. The team in the second half scored on every possession on both those games. Not good. Thank you. Brad. Fritz. He doesn't have to go see the Springsteen movie because the broncos beat the Cowboys. That is correct. Yeah. I didn't. I didn't read good reviews on the Springsteen movie. Did not. I think Wall street Journal, New York times. Not good. Yes, Todd. Usually you see something like, great, fantastic. A must see. And that was just all right. It was all right. I don't. I don't know if they even would have said that, but it. I was surprised that you read, like, used to be you could read a really negative review. Now it feels like to get access to all of these different celebrities and actors and directors, and everybody kind of plays nice. But, man. Yeah, there was one. It might have been Wall street journal. One of them just took a blowtorch to. To it. Yes. Paulie. I'm on rotten tomatoes right now. Which conglomerates all the reviews, and it's about 55% positive. New. If you look at some of the other biopics of the day that were well reviewed, A complete unknown got really good reviews. The Elvis movie Straight out of Compton got great reviews. And walk the line, of course, Johnny cash got great reviews. The Dylan biopic with Timothy Chalamet is great because he's great. And the woman playing Joan Baez is great as well. The way it's shot is great. The problem is, is Bob Dylan is boring. You don't really find out anything about Bob Dylan. You're like, okay. And then you scribble down that song. I don't know anything more about Bob Dylan after watching that than I did prior to that. And I think I know a little bit about Dylan. Yeah. Seaton. It was a little tough for me, too. Gotta admit, to watch people talk about folk music so seriously. Yeah. It's a little tough to be like, you know, the purity of folk music. This isn't folk music. Come on. And like, oh, my gosh. Wait, you're gonna have an electric guitar? Yeah. I appreciate Pete Seeger as much as anybody. I love Pete Seeger. Great. Great. It's a little tough, though. Like, come on, guys. We got to stay true to the art form. Peter, Paul, and Mary, they're bigger than the Beatles. You can't plug in here. Oh, my God. This is one of those Things you have to be, like, trusted. When we. I watched it with my son, I was like, trust me, it was a really big deal at the time. It's hard to imagine now, but it was like, holy crap, this guy's playing. It's a big deal. You just got to trust me. Yeah. Yes, Paul, but I have a theory. These biopic movies are not for people who know a lot about the topic, like you with Bob Dylan or Bruce Springsteen. Because you're like, this isn't that real. It's almost akin to Moneyball. Like, this isn't exactly the story of the A's. You know, if you watch Walk the Line and you don't know much about the history of Johnny Cash, then it's cool. And you're not like, oh, this, Poking holes in it. Yeah, maybe. I. You know, I was a big fan of Queen growing up in the Freddie Mercury biopic. I thought it was good, but it didn't. You're right. It probably opened a lot of people's eyes to, golly, I got to get that music. I got to download that. And, you know, they end up selling their music catalog for over a billion dollars. You know, by comparison, you know, Springsteen and some of the Neil Young and Dylan, I think they were 500 million. Queen went for maybe 1.2 billion for their catalog. Yeah, Paul, when I was a kid, I saw the Buddy Holly story and the Buddy Holly's way before my time. But Gary Busey, he nailed it. And I learned more about Buddy Holly in two hours than I ever had. So it was a good refresher for someone who missed that era. So Todd doesn't have to go see the Springsteen movie. Since the Broncos got the win, I did hear some of the critics say they couldn't bear to watch them. Okay, I see what you did. You know, Jeremy Allen White, he's in the baby. There you go. I knew you'd be able to connect the. Thank you, Todd. Yes, I do find myself lately having a hard time jumping from movie to movie. And it'll be the same actors. And you're like, oh, look, now he's a rock star. Oh, look, now he's a chef. Oh, look, now he's a cop. Oh, look, now he's a scientist. Oh, look, it's all the same people. It's like. Like Leonardo DiCaprio. It's nothing new, you know, but I'm like, wow. So now, oh, look, Leonardo DiCaprio is a schoolteacher now. Oh, that's fun. Just like the same people over and over and Over. Oh, look, now he's a baseball player. That's fun. Yeah. This is weird to me. It's just a weird thing. Yeah, I'm having a hard time letting it go sometimes. Like, well, if they do a Stones biopic, I'd like to offer up an older Mick Jagger. I would play that role. Maybe not. You're. You're open for it. He's not that much older than me. That's the problem. You might have to audition, but that's okay. Saw me up. Saw me up. Now, what else? Mix 82. Jeez. I ended up this weekend. I had this question in my head and I. And it was driving me crazy because we had Charlie Sheen on a couple of weeks ago and it came to me and I went, oh, my God, this is going to drive me crazy. I should have asked a question to Charlie Sheen and said, what's more surprising? That you're still alive or Keith Richards? How do you think he would have answered that? Because for some reason I thought it was a brilliant question and it. It wouldn't leave me. I kept going, God, I should ask that question. It's okay. So what you're saying is. So the question is, who would be surviving because of our past experience in life and we've lived hard lives and that's. That's an interesting question. Let me think about that. Excellent impersonation. That's how he was talking to you. I know he was. He was. He went from being out of it when we would speak to him to now he's so hyper focused. I'm saying, so what you say it's because of the lives that we've led before this. Interesting, interesting question. I haven't traveled as much as he is. Matt in Nashville. Hi, Matt. What's on your mind, Dan? Appreciate you taking my call, friend. Hope you are well. Hey. Actually got a nomination for the worst win of the weekend. And that was kind of leads into my best and worst one of the rarities where it's same game, same team. The Virginia, North Carolina game. You said you watched it. I'm sorry for that. It's kind of game only a fan could love. Poorly played, poorly officiated, poorly coached, Just a terrible game all the way around. So that's my worst, but my best as a Virginia fan. We still found a way to win. It's our third overtime win of the season. Two on the road, North Carolina and Louisville, and then of course, the big one at home against Florida State. So my cardiac cabs are still, you know, we're still surviving. Still. Still in the playoff race and would love to do a pie in the face challenge. Got four games left on the docket here. California, Wake Forest, Duke and Virginia Tech. I will say my Cavaliers will run the table and make the ACC Championship game and ultimately the College Football Playoff. Anybody want to take me up on that? Yes, Paulie. This is a weird one because I didn't pay a lot of attention to Cavs football. Virginia Cavs this year, they have a very mild schedule. Coastal Carolina, Bill and Mary as they're out of conference. They're seven and one. And he's right. They got Cal, Wake, Duke, Virginia Tech. They're not going to want to put that team in the playoffs. People are going to have a problem with that. I know how they think. They don't want a Virginia Cavaliers team in the playoffs. No offense. No offense. Not my opinion. Their opinion. Yeah, but if a team is 11 and 1. No, I don't think that's, you know, running the gauntlet there, Matt. So nobody's going to take you up on it. You guys should win those four games. And the Florida State game doesn't look as impressive now, but they hammered Bill and Mary. Yeah, 55, 16. Yeah. Mary's got to get a little stronger though, you know, in the weight room. Yeah. She gets out there and it's like, come on, Mary. Bill plays okay. Yes. Marvin. Yeah. The CFP committee is going to be like, if they win the acc, they have to be in, right? They'll find a way. No, you got it. Got to put them in. No, they got to be in. You win the acc, you're in. I know technically, but I don't put anything past the committee. Yeah, we'll disband the ACC. Zack in Knoxville. Hi, Zach. What's on your mind, A.D. thanks for taking my call. Just the unfortunate news on Sunday kind of put a damper on my weekend. The passing of Nick Mangle. And don't want to get too sentimental on everybody, but you have someone you love, someone you haven't talked to in a while, just reach out and say, hey, thank you. Zach. Got a chance to spend time with Nick Mangold socially. And Ohio State guy. I think he might have been a six or seven time Pro bowl center. He's probably going to go to the hall of Fame one day. What a great personality. Great personality. Fun guy. Light up the room. Everybody loved Nick Mangold and he was waiting for a kidney. He had been battling kidney disease, I. I think since 2006. And he never mentioned it. Didn't bring it up, but I think here at the very end, he knew that, that he really needed a match and it was probably going to be too late anyway. But he was great. Everybody loved Nick mangle. He was 41 years of age. Thank you for reminding me to bring that up. I was going to and I was like, when do you bring it up? But yeah, good dude. Good dude. Yeah. Marv, you saw guys like Rex Ryan and Willie Colon talk about him with and they couldn't get through it without getting choked up. So you could tell how much he meant to those guys and jets fans all around, especially Aaron Glenn. After he won, he mentioned him also. So big loss for everyone. Yeah. And that's where you have those guys who are just dependable. They're solid. There's no drama. They just do their job. And it's probably just being an offensive lineman. Like just do your job, show up and do your job. And he did it. And he did it at a high level and he did it for some very good jets teams. We'll take a break. Last call for phone calls. But one will end up dead, the other tried for murder not once. People went wild, not twice, stunned, but three times. John and Ann Bender are rich and attractive and they're devoted to each other. They create a nature reserve and build a spectacular circular home high on the top of a hill. But little by little, their dream starts to crumble and our couple retreat from reality. They lose it. They actually lose it. They sort of went nuts. Until one night, everything stopped. Spins out of control. Actors, musicians, creatives, highly evolved digital life forms. And we talk about what they love. Sometimes I'll drizzle a little honey in there too if I'm feeling sexy in the morning. What keeps them going? And you're maybe my biggest competition on social media. Like when a kid says bra to me and how they're navigating this high speed roller coaster we call reality. In Australia, you're looking out for snakes, spiders and. Right. Hey, he's no Trey McDougal. Chill. This is like the comments section of my Instagram. Join me and my delightful guests every Thursday, and let's get weird together in a good way. Hey, I'm Kelpen, and on my new podcast, Here We Go Again, we'll take today's trends and headlines and ask ask, why does history keep repeating itself? You may know me as the second hottest actor from the Harold and Kumar movies, but I'm also an author, a White House staffer, and as of like 15 seconds ago, a podcast host. Along the way, I've made some friends who are experts in science, politics, and pop culture. And each week, one of them will be joining me to answer my burning questions, like, are we heading towards another financial crash? Like in 08, is non monogamy back in style? And how come there's never a gate ready for your flight when it lands, like two minutes early? We've got guests like Pete Buttigieg, Stacey Abrams, Lilly Singh, and Bill Nye. When you start weaponizing outer space, things can potentially go really wrong. Look, the world can seem pretty scary right now, because it is. But my goal here is for you to listen and feel a little better about the future. Listen and subscribe to Here we go Again with Kal Penn on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. The Crying Wolf podcast is the story of two men bound by injustice, of a city haunted by its secrets and the quest for redemption, no matter the price. White victim, female, pretty, wealthy black defendant. Chicago, a white woman's murder. A black man behind bars for a crime he didn't commit. I had 90 years for killing somebody I have never seen, he says the police are his friends and then that's it. They turn on him. A corrupt detective, how he was interrogated, the techniques. That's crazy. A snitch and a life stolen. They got the wrong guy. But on the inside, Lee Harris finds an ally in his celly, Robert, who swears to tell the truth about what happened to Lee and free his friend. And if you're with me, you're golden. I'll take care of you. I'm gonna be with you. You stuck with me for life. Listen to the Crying Wolf podcast starting on October 22nd on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Last call for phone calls what we learn what's in store tomorrow. Reggie Aloysius Miller Jr. III tomorrow. And hall of Famer Steve Young will stop by as well. Chiefs big favorites tonight by ten and a half against a commander's team without Jaden Daniels. I'm looking at some of the schedules here with divisional leaders. The Broncos at the Texans, host the Raiders host the Chiefs. And then a bye week. Patriots, they have the Falcons at home. They're at the Buccaneers. They host the Jets. They're at the Bengals. Steelers, they host the Colts at the Chargers, host the Bengals at the Bears. The Colts at the Steelers, host the Falcons by week and then at the Chiefs. So we're going to find out here in the next month if everybody's all in on the Colts, then if I look at the divisional leaders in the nfc, San Francisco's at the Giants, host the Rams at the Cardinals and then they host the Panthers. They got to get healthy. But then you're not getting, you know, Fred Warner or Bosa not coming back. I wonder if they make a trade for maybe a defensive player. Buccaneers bye week host the Patriots at the Bills at the Rams. Wow. Eagles bye week at the Falcons. They host the Lions at the Cowboys. That could be tough sledding. Green Bay got the Panthers, got the Eagles at home at the Giants and then you'll host The Vikings, the divisional leaders there. Whatever that means to you. But it did take up a little bit of time. Yes, Paulie. See, now we're saying. Pardon the alliteration. Are you saying that next Sunday is Separation Sunday? Barely made it through that. Like Bears, Bengals, someone's done for the year after this, someone's right out of the picture. I kind of feel like we just had separation Sunday. Are we going back to back Separation Sundays is. Can't do it. Back back. I thought it was college football that did the labeling. Separation Saturday. Yeah. Coming up, Separation Saturday. Penn State, Ohio State, some rooms Saturday. Yes, Todd. Sounds more like necessary November. You just gave, like, the three next three, four games for each of the top teams. Necessary November. Thank you, Todd, for repeating it. Appreciate that. Like Broncos, Texans next week. Texans make a little push. But the Broncos, that's it. Trip in Vegas. Hi, Trip. Best and worst of the weekend, adp. I got best and worse and then a double pie to the face bet. My best and worst happened in the same game. My South Carolina Gamecocks, in a matter of 90 seconds, went from butt kicking chickens to a fried chicken. Then on the double five, double pie to the face bet. I will. This is for Mr. Fritz. I will take the Jaguars. Excuse me. The Raiders this weekend against the Jaguars. And then I'll take the Raiders against the Broncos on the seventh. And then when I see y' all in a couple of weeks, we'll pick our pie. But we have to win both games to get a pie to the face. Okay. Are you in Jacksonville for the. I'm in Las Vegas. No. Is that game in Jacksonville? Oh, it's here. Both games are here. I'll be at both games. Oh, okay. I'll be at the Raider. I'll be at the. I'll be there this weekend, and then I'll be there for the game. But you already owe Todd a pie to the face. No, no, I don't owe him anything. This is a new bet. I always pick on Todd, but I'm trying to get him to do a 2 and O series bet. Todd, he's got the Broncos losing to the Raiders and the Jags losing to the Raiders for a pie to the face. So the way I understand it, the Raiders have to beat the Jaguars and Broncos their next few games. Is that simple? No. We either have to lose both or win both to lose the bet. But when I see you in a couple of weeks at Formula one, one of us will be one up and one down, and we will decide which pie the other one Will get if we lose the second bet. Yes, Paulie, I have a question for the room. The last caller said Jaguars twice. I have a buddy who's been calling them the Jaguars for 20 years. Is there any chance we're wrong and they're right? What's not spelled that way? That would be. It's Jaguars. It's not Jaguars. Right, but some people still say that. I think. I think European people will say Jaguar. They say Jaguar. Jaguar. Yeah. I think that's. It's closer to that. Tripp, you don't have any takers here, but thank you. I don't think I fully understand. I was willing to say the Breeders are not going to beat the Jaguars. Adam. Broncos. Yeah. Back. I thought that was the bet. Yeah. I don't know. But Jaguars. We used to make fun of it on sports. I remember when I was there with Oberman, and we're like, jaguar, Jaguar, Jaguars. By the way, I picked up a copy of Spin magazine. Whoa. All right. Oh, look at you. And I didn't know they were still in business. Shocked to hear it. I. I used to read Spin magazine all the time. Special place in my heart. They were the first publication to do something on the big show on SportsCenter. And they were ahead of the game with that, with others that followed. But I remember they came in and did a. A story on myself and Keith Olbermann. The big show. But it was fun reading Spin and getting suggestions on different music, different artists. And so I think their 40th anniversary, 40 years of spin magazine with Kurt Cobain on the COVID Kevin in Ohio. Hi, Kevin. Hey, dp. Thanks for holding. Hey. My best of the weekend. The Fox NFL pregame show had a spoof bit about what was called the Rage cabinet. Or, you know, it was actually a isolation booth. The rage booth, where you could close it and just rage about your football team. And I immediately thought, what a gift for Fritzi's wife. I think I'm willing to even kick in some money to get her that. And I think it would be the gift that keeps on giving. Oh, okay. Well, thank you, Kevin. Yeah. A rage against the machine. But she has nothing to rage against. No, she just. She gets very negative seeing me get all crazy things. She's like, whenever Denver does something, they're just not that good yet. It's only his second year. Bonix, you got them already deep into the playoffs. They're not that good. Why are you getting so excited? You had a good day. I did? Yeah. You had a good day. This day in sports History. Paul, got a couple for you. Let's see. Oh, now. Oh, and there's a bad one. 1995, the contract that finalized the Cleveland Browns move to Baltimore was signed in secret. 1996, Bud Adams, remember him? The owner of the Houston Oilers announced he would allow his team to play for one final season in Houston. Lame duck. And then they moved to Nashville and, oh, 2002, the Anaheim Angels won their first World Series, beating the Giants in game seven. Yeah, yeah. Final results of the poll question. Seaton. And we got a bunch of them. Let's see who this one was from. Paul, we never really got around to it, but who would you pick to win the afc? Your options are in. One option, Patriots, Colts, Broncos. And then your other option is the Chiefs. Chiefs. The Chiefs are currently winning. Yes. If you had to pick those three, there are lots of teams who are upset. Ever heard of the Bills? Ever heard of the Chargers? Ever heard of the everybody else and thing. Okay, that's not the question. Question, though. All right, let's go around the room. What we learned on the program. Todd, what'd you learn today? You feel Jonathan Taylor should be the leading candidate for NFL mvp, not simply offensive player of the year award. Satan, what'd you learn today? I learned that LSU has the best job opening right now. Marvin. Bill Cower, special teams legend. Oh, Ali, Haji Chic. Todd, what did I learn today? Bill Cow did not like the Steelers unis last night against the Packers. Have a great day, everybody. Steve Young tomorrow, Reggie Miller tomorrow, and hopefully you for Todd Seaton. Marv, Paulie, yours truly will talk to you on Tuesday. Hello, America's sweetheart. Johnny Knoxville here. I want to tell you about my new true crime podcast, Crimeless Hillbilly Heist from Smartless Media, Campside Media and big money players. It's a wild tale about a gang of high functioning nitwits who somehow pulled off America's third largest cash heist. Kind of like Robin Hood, except for the part where he steals from the rich and gives to the poor. I'm not that generous. It's a damn near inspiring true story for anyone out there who's ever shot for the moon, then just totally muffed up the landing. They stole $17 million and had not bought a ticket to help him escape. So we're saying like, oh God, what am I? What do we do? That was dumb. People do not follow my example. In this episode, Dan and the crew break down the most impressive wins and disappointing losses from a packed sports weekend, with particular emphasis on NFL and college football. Topics range from quarterback injuries and coaching searches to the impact of sports betting on injury reporting. The team also weighs in on memorable moments, the ongoing coaching carousel in college football, and dives into a lively discussion on the truth and entertainment value of recent sports and music biopics.

Dan and the crew keep their signature conversational, humorous, and sometimes irreverent style throughout, with plenty of tongue-in-cheek remarks (“When I think Pirate activity, I think Des Moines, Iowa.” –Dan, 33:32) and good-natured banter about sports, music, and movies. The show’s atmosphere remains light yet informed, even during heavier moments like memorializing Nick Mangold’s passing.
Memorable Dan Patrick Quote:
“You just got to win. If that guy didn’t play or those guys didn’t play, I don’t care. Just win.” (06:59)
On coaching turnover in college football:
“The coaching carousel is picking up speed. It’s not slowing down.” (12:17)
On recent biopics:
“These biopic movies are not for people who know a lot about the topic… You’re not poking holes in it.” –Paulie (01:01:18)
You’ll come away up-to-speed on all the high and low points from the sports weekend, the hot seats in college football, the mounting influence of gambling on league operations, and why sometimes, rooting for your team is a lot like watching a Hollywood biopic: entertaining, unpredictable, and often not quite true to real life.
