Hello and welcome to Wake and Jake Breaking news. Garrett Crochet Is a Boston Red Sock. Holy smoke. This just happened. So it's a little bit instant reaction. The package just came out. One kind of, I guess you'd say big time prospect, top 50 prospect, Kyle Teal and then another, I think top five Red Sox prospect. But Garrett Crochet is trade to the Red Sox. They continue to put more and more chips in and we'll see if this is the start, the finish or the continuation. I do not think they are done because I think they have the opportunity to do something big this off season. And there was some excitement from Red Sox fans in this office for the first time since we've had Red Sox fans in this office, if I'm being honest. Garrett Crochet, if you're not familiar, an original like pitch Ninja guy. Pitch Ninja guy was thrown a hundred in college. 104, I think. And everyone is like, what? This is just what college kids do now. Made his way up on part of the good White Sox teams, if you remember that fireball and lefty out of the bullpen. Gets hurt after one good like full relief season, 54 games, a 2, 82 ERA, more strikeouts than innings pitched. Works his way back. The White Sox are bad now. Update for you. Garrett Crochet. Sorry. Couple games in 23 and then he had his breakout season last year. Four WAR season, 146 innings, 209 strikeouts. That's a 13K per nine. It was 12.9. I rounded up for housekeeping purposes. He was their all star and he passes the sniff test. He is a first round pick. He is 6, 6245-25-years old. 25 years old. That's one of the big parts of this. He got called up. He got called up at age 20 maybe. Or was it 21 or 20? Let's see. It was 21, 21 and 89 days. Kind of cool how they have information like that on Baseball Reference. Yeah, kind of cool. I could see a guy not liking that, I guess. Yeah, I mean, it's not a need, but I use it. So good job. Baseball Reference. So some instant reaction when it comes out. It's what pieces have the Red Sox cashed in on. Where did the White Sox gonna go? Is Tristan Casas a part of that? Because he feels like one of the kind of best available hitting assets available on the trade market. And we'll get to that in a second. But they also have this prospect pool because they were giving him some time. Just not enough time for him. So he got let go. But they have some good action on the farm along with some young talent on the roster. And it's nobody that you've seen. No. Like Rafaela. He's not going to be any in any trade talks. Wiley or Brew may, maybe, but he's not in this. And I talked about Casas before. Kyle Teal is a top 50 prospect, catcher hitter, ish type guy that people seem to like. I don't know if it's just the name, but he's not. The top two prospects, Marcelo Mayor and Roman Anthony. The Red Sox hold on to them guys. Probably not supposed to be part of the mix next year, but maybe a big part of the mix the year after that. So that was huge as Red Sox fans held their breath for a second. And then the interesting case of Garrett Crochet, who has had Tommy John throws with that scary Vlo with. There's some correlation with Vlo and injuries and we've done some of this on Wake and Jake V and injury history can be a bad combination that I wonder what Garrett Crochet's actual market was because the other thing that needs to be said is homeboy's not really getting paid yet. The Yankees who threw out eight years, 218 millie for Max Freed. I think the Boston Red Sox are going to be paying him. Can you find out what he's supposed to make next year? I don't have a number on Garrett Crochet. Yeah.
Jared Goff
Estimated in arbitration to make 2.9 million.
Justin Jefferson
So when you're looking at Max Freed and his 30 mill a year or whatever it landed. Corbin Burns is still a free agent. The Red Sox said, hey, we could cash in on a third and fifth prospect and get Garrett Crochet for two mil and then, I don't know, six mil in his walk here or whatever. It ends up landing at that. That financial equation is absolutely brilliant and it leaves the door open for them doing so much more. And I think the Red Sox are going to do so much more because that fan base is rowdy and rightfully so, that their rotation would then be Crochet, Halk, Baio, Cutter, Crawford, and then we're talking some Dick Fitz and Cooper Criswell not making jokes about it. And you know, they went in, they got Heraldis Chapman this free agency. So it's him and Liam Hendrix on the back end along with Justin Slayton, who had a breakout year. Some other interesting bodies down there for the Red Sox. Welcome back to the party. Like, I think that should be the main reaction. They've been doing this. We got him from Tampa and they build teams and it's that the whole big market dream while having, while doing the small market smart things. It was taken too much time for a fan base, man. I heard the number said yesterday was four rings in like 15 years or something. Oh, four through 18, something like that. Yeah. Like this again. I grew up my middle school and high school cafeteria talking about the curse of the Bambino and stuff. This is a franchise that started winning a lot. And never mind if they happen to be a Patriots fan and a kicker to our Bruins and Celtics fans out there. Boston, I love you. Used to love visiting Boston. Some of my best friends went to Northeastern. I used to go up there like twice a month. Great city. Don't like their sports because I like the Yankees and the Knicks. That's just kind of, that's where I landed for the Boston Red Sox. What is next? They still have a spot open in their rotation. Our guy Zoe from We got Ice who's a big Red Sox fan, he said get us Corbin Burns and we win the division. Okay, let's see it. Um, I am worried that these Red Sox still don't truly spend on free agents. That's why they did this signing. Um, I believe they were in on Nathan A. Valdi who landed at a 3 year 75 mil. And by the way, probably next week maybe we'll do a winter meetings signings, grades or recap or something. Cause there's still so much that we haven't talked about. And even on talking baseball anywhere, it's, it's crazy. Once it starts happening, it does start happening. Is this exhibit A of baseball fans being not happy with something while getting what they want kind of right? Like baseball fans are screaming, oh, we need to figure out do it in the tight. Like they kind of do. It's kind of happening. I mean this is, this is a list of topics that haven't been hit on talking baseball yet. I mean some of this will be tonight, but. Max Freed, Andres Jimenez got traded. The Platinum Glove his best season, seven and a half war. How do you like that big boy season? Jake Berger got traded in the night. Nobody cared about the Marlins. The Rangers do though. Nathan evaldi signed Tyler O'Neal. Clay Holmes is a starting pitcher for the Mets. Severino is a starting pitcher for the A's. What? Shane Bieber went back to Cleveland. Confortos on the Dodgers, Jordan Romano, Phillies. Alex Cobb, Tigers. So these are all things we haven't even got to. So that'll probably be a next week episode for now I want to keep it crochet and I'll probably pivot to Freed. If you are the Boston Red Sox, here's what their lineup currently looks like. Jaren Duran, Good lefty. Raphael Des, Great lefty. Tristan Casas, Good lefty. Trevor Story, not sure righty. Masataki Yoshida. He can hit a little bit lefty while you're at breu. I think he's good lefty. Connor Wong had a nice season last year. That's what I'll say. David Hamilton, Sure. Sadon Rafaela has potential to be something for them in some way. I think if you could tell from what I was doing from that exercise. The Red Sox have all the pieces to a lineup and there's lineup statistics. Last year, a lot of them landed in a good spot. They were sixth in average, seventh and ops, a ninth and runs in homers. So you can. There's some room for improvement there. But their lineup was also banged up through the year that, you know, we were shocked at the first half Red Sox because they were pitching their buns off and you know, I don't like using that kind of language. Tristan Casas is one of the best available young hitting trade pieces that there is a chance they move him. There's a chance they don't for that same exact reason. I'm curious to see if Luis Castillo, who. God, sometimes things make too much sense. Seattle Mariners who have been looking for someone you can put in your lineup and feel pretty confident that it's going to translate. Tristan Casas power is crazy. It's stronger than Seattle. He can hit it to every part of the ballpark. He's all of like 6, 7. He's one of those guys that stands next to judge and looks normal. That's. That's a good test if you're a big guy or not. Stan looks. Stands next to judge and doesn't look like a big guy. Casas is huge. That put him at first base, by the way. Seattle would love that cat he's doing. I mean, I'm going to sound like Nikki Cass doing a skit right now, but he's doing the painted nails. He's doing the grounding like Seattle. Casas coffee would come for Starbucks. Anyways, Castillo gets paid. But, you know, people were wondering what would the price tag look like compared to these pitching price tags and where they're at? Castillo is nowhere near a dump. I mean, it's 24 million for the next three years with a vesting option depending on time injured in the next couple years. So Basically, if Luis Castillo stays healthy these next three years, you get him for another year, which it's hard to imagine him falling off the cliff. Pitching wise, that I don't know that guy. And there's some legacy stuff in play here, whether it's crochet from the White Sox. They traded for Chris Sale. That was pretty good. The Red Sox, they have a history of a pretty good Dominican pitcher that every time they get a good young Dominican pitcher, they call him Baby Pedro, which has some people in our office like, dislike. What's his name, Brian Baio, just because he was a young Dominican pitcher with a change up. So everyone's like, whoa, Pedro. It's not looking like that. He seems like an MLB guy and maybe there's more in there. Baio, still 25 years old, man you bring in. If the Red Sox want to be back at the table. Casas for Castillo, both sides probably playing chicken of who should add what? Castillo a little more proven at the major league level than Casas. Casas, semi proven. Not the hugest sample, but, you know, an injury, significant injury last year. I don't know. Some things make too much sense for me. Seattle's had such a need. I mean, God, Julio. Julio Casas and Cal Raleigh, like, okay, you can start. It's an almost an offense. We're on our way to an offense. They extended Victor Robles last year. Red Sox, you can be fully back at the table if you trade for Luis Castillo. It's hard for me to imagine them signing Corbin Burns. I'm sure they're in on the other guys. Walker, Bueller, whoever. You know, someone was just marching around our office saying that the Red Sox haven't made the big free agent signing since David Price, which, okay, it helped win them the 18 World Series. It was also part of the salary dump that they got rid of Mookie Betts about. So I don't know if that's part of their fear factor. Also, their ownership group is one of those ownership groups, so they're just buying stuff. They're just buying soccer teams and supposedly the next NBA team, things like that. Boston gets fully invited back to the table if they get a Castillo or another pitcher. And I like to think they will because I'm, you know, Dick Fitz and Cooper Criswell seem like nice depth pieces if they can add someone with crochet at the top of that rotation. If the HALC breakout last year was real. If Baio has more in the tank, Cutter Crawford is just Cutter Crawford. He throws you 33 starts. At a 4 ERA at Fenway, you take that all day. That with their lineup, they would be back at the table. Or do they want to keep Casas for all the reasons I mentioned and they can do something a little less risky but a little less invited to the table. We talked about Masataka Yoshida potentially for Jordan Montgomery. D backs trying to get off Jordan Montgomery for one year. 26 million. We know the Red Sox like Monty. They were interested in him his first time in free agency. Dbacks need to replace Jack Peterson. His price tag may have gotten to a place that they don't like that they can get rid of Monty's money, put in Yoshida. Bada bing, bada boom. Red Sox with one less lefty, but then the lineup isn't as lefty, but it's not as deep as it was. So very excited to see these next steps for the Boston Red Sox. Excited that the Red Sox and the Yankees and I'm not doing this in a peacock way because the year previous to the World Series the Yankees missed the postseason. So they were part of the problem. Good Yankees, Red Sox. That would be good. That's great for the sport. It's great for me as a Yankees fan until they lose those games and good for the city of Boston. Man, it's been pretty cool. We've had a partnership with Amtrak the past couple years that we've gotten to go up there and watch games from Fenway park. And it's, it's a great place to watch baseball. It's in, it's in the city. Like there's. I was going to say there's not a bad seat in a house, but it's a place known for having historically bad seats in the house. But outside of those seats, the other seats are great. I'm excited to see their next steps. You'd assume they'd have an add another starting pitcher. You wonder what else they have off the board because right now your righty hitters coming into the season being story Wong and Rafaela, you're going to want something else there and you're going to have options because right handed hitters are a lot more available to you in the free agent market than they are left handed hitters. So the Boston Red Sox have put their chips in. They are excited and they should be excited. And I'm interested to see the next steps because man, they can really, they can hold on to their top two prospects in Meyer and Anthony who are supposed to be real ones. Like they have them as Fangraphs has them as top 11 prospects. So that's the kind of tier we're talking about with those two. If they can hold on to those two, bring on a competitive team for this year. The Red Sox are going to start feeling good about the next five years and they have not been feeling that way. So with that, I think the pivot for now is the Yankees and Max Freed because I haven't talked about that on here. And another lefty. How about this? The AL east lefties. Not as many lefties in our warehouse and it's been chugging. We are in the playoffs. Go check it out. Blitzball Battle 5 Here's a pregame show. We are back in the warehouse.

This is another good matchup between two teams who haven't been as good as they should be. They really haven't hit this entire tournament that somebody's going to have to score runs to win. Trevor Plouffe is going to have to come through at the plate eventually. I think it's going to happen for me. I'm going to be taking Forgotten Rotten guys.

You'Re subscribed to our Warehouse Games channel and go check it out. It's a really fun product, like throwing it up on the tv. I've got the chat on my phone. It's a good time My Yankees signed Max Freed. They both got their lefties. The Yankees paid a different price tag. Instead of prospect capital, they gave him eight years, $218 million. That is the highest price tag ever given to a lefty starting pitcher, which it's going to be interesting to see if the Red Sox have extension talks with Crochet because that was kind of one of his things when he was talking about getting traded before. He wanted to ensure he'd be a starter. He was scared to go to the bullpen and get hurt again. I wonder if any of those talks have already happened through an agent or anything like that, because crochet would be an interesting one. If I'm the Boston Red Sox. I just mentioned that Crochet is getting paid 2 million this year and again I'm just guessing, but 6 million, 8 million the next year. If you could start Garrett Crochet his contract now and get him 20 for 5 and he still gets to hit free agency at 30, I don't know, I would have some conversations. You feel like the Boston Red Sox would be too tricky for Crochet because you know, do you just pitch the two years and you might get a Freedian bag if you will. The Yankees got Max Freed. We are excited after the loss of Juan Soto. It was woe is me generational hitter. I don't get to watch him every day for 10 years, 15 years, which would have been exciting and sick. The guy takes the best at bats I've ever seen. The Yankees pivot to Max Freed. They make their strength a strength. Their rotation is now Cole Freed Rodan heel. And then for your 5 starter, you've got a hodgepodge of guys that have pitched good at some point. Marcus Stroman is still on the Yankees. Nestor Cortez still on the Yankees. Clark Schmidt, probably the best pitcher out of those two now that the Yankees, and they've made it pretty apparent, will be trading from their pitching capital to go get a player and is that Cody Bellinger is that Kyle Tucker was the sexy rumor in the streets. The Yankees, in the Astros. He would be the perfect fit. We're trying not to daydream about Kyle Tucker. Cause it would fit too well. Feels like setting yourself up to get real sad if.
Jared Goff
When you start to really believe.
Justin Jefferson
And I started to really believe. So we all did for a little bit. Um, the fact we're talking ourselves down, that's. That's good. That's growing up. Um, the Yankees have serious work to do in the lineup. And it scares me because like I previously mentioned on this episode of Wake and Jake. Subscribe they missed the playoffs. 2023. They missed the postseason. 2023. What were their big ads? BBD. They added Juan Soto. Really good. Alex Verdugo felt like a great piece.
Jared Goff
Early in the season.
Justin Jefferson
He was a great piece. We were excited. What else did they add? Strowman.
Jared Goff
Strowman was a big ad.
Justin Jefferson
Strowman was a big ad. A major league starting pitcher a year. The potential three year deal was that.
Jared Goff
I think it was a little bit it. Rodan was there. They kept Luke Weaver, which proved to be a bigger deal.
Justin Jefferson
But during that off season, we were right. It was a throw in Cooper Criswell, if you will. Yeah, that. That was that. And something that I think Yankee fans are appreciating a lot more is the Jazz Chisholm trade during the middle of the 24 season. But Yankees lineup pieces we feel good with. Here's a fun game. Anthony Volpe at shortstop, kind of. I mean, as a defensive first shortstop with potential to grow as a hitter. We're good with Volpe. I feel like I know what his.
Jared Goff
Place on the team is.
Justin Jefferson
I'm good with that. Jazz Chisholm at third or second. There's some interesting dynamics there. But we're good with. Okay. Aaron Judge in right field. Fantastic. Glad to have him back there. Giancarlo Stanton at dh. Absolutely. He's gonna get banged up, but you give some Judge some days off his feet. Sure. Austin Wells. And I'll throw in Trevino behind the dish. Absolutely. Major leaguers Austin Wells, one of the rookie of the year candidates. That's when things get fun. Currently listed as their left field, first base, second base and center field. Ben Rice gets the nod from fan graphs currently. And I've defended Ben Rice. Some of his minor league stats are very impressive. Caleb Durbin. Maybe you've heard of the Arizona Fall League MVP listed 5, 6. Hello. And currently in center field, Trent Grisham. So the Yankees that had Juan Soto and went to the World Series. Verdugo didn't really pan out. Glabor had a tough start to the year, by the way. Glabor Torres and the Red Sox if they're willing to have his defense at second base or hell, if they're willing to bench him late in games, which like Cora's the manager that does that. Glabor Torres on the Red Sox breaking up those lefties, hitting it off the monster be a fit God, he'd grow out that devil kind of go teeth beard he can do. Yeah, I don't know. We'll see what Glabor's market is coming up. The Yankees. Let's say you let one rookie start. You'd still have three lineup spots to fill between first, an outfield spot, one of the infield spots. There's work to be done and they're positioned well. That there was an Alex Bregman rumor as we started recording this from our guy, Brian Hoke, who's not, who's not in a stir the pot position. Normally he'll post a tweet for some likes, don't get me wrong. But if he has knowledge, yeah, he'll, he'll report. He shares his knowledge like we ask our media members to do. Um, that he just commented on Bregman that I think the Yankees have an opportunity with this Juan Soto situation to change their identity in a good way. And I think Alex Bregman is an identity changing player. Every at bat is intense. He plays high level defense. Bregman, Volpe on the left side, Jazz up the middle, judge back and right. Like the Yankees defense that had literally been a laughing stock of the past month and a half. You have upgraded. I'm not saying Bregman's going to happen. I just think this opportunity for the Yankees is to get away from the 2021. We're all right handed sluggers that don't have to run hard to first and we're going to hit home runs. And it was play defense. It was kind of brutal. It was a brutal product. It was like, okay, these Yankees are either going to mash and hit five home runs or they're going to lose. And I think in the postseason hitting becomes harder and base running becomes more important. That the Yankees moved so waste so far away from the target. And especially with the new rules and base running and limiting shifts, the Yankees realized they need to get more athletic. They put themselves again. They went to the World Series last year. It was fun. It should have been a six game series at least that's one way or another. We've done that a lot. The Yankees have an opportunity here where we think they have 50 million or so to spend before coming up to the Cohen tax after freedom. After signing Max Freed to the biggest left handed starting pitcher contract in history, the Yankees are going to put in work in the trade market. They kind of have a good. I'll, I'll do it on a nice scale because I'm selling the Yankees here. If your team's looking for pitching, I got you. If you're looking for a good Marcus Stroman, old, reliable, you know Marcus Stroman, he's going to throw it up there. You get some double play balls. You get 130 to 150 innings at a four flat era. If you got good defense, Marcus Stroman can really perform for you.
Jared Goff
He can be genuinely productive.
Justin Jefferson
The Yankees just were a laughing stock defensively and Marcus Stroman had a fine year when he was on the Cubs with Horner Dansby belly. Marcus Roman was one of the best pitchers in the national league for three months. So hey, he's making 18 mil. I get his values. Not there. There's your good Clark Schmidt, real good. Two years left, he's gotten better every year. Three believe so. Even better. He's gotten better at each step of the way, shown he can handle being a starter and getting into the game. I think I skipped a piece. And Nestor Cortez Jr. Who's kind of like a Strowman extension except he's one year eight mil cheaper lefty. So you got cheaper lefty. BBD's got it. So he's down there. Clark, next step up. Next step up above that. Luis Healy just won Rookie of the Year. This guy's a fireballer. I find myself going into the Dana Carvey SNL Joe Biden voice a little bit when I'm doing this. Luis Hill, Rookie of the Year, you gotta get this guy. Hey that they have whatever's available on the trade market and that's what's gonna be the great game for the Yankees. Is it? Is it Cody Bellinger who's getting paid but a productive player? Is it? Are they gonna take a flyer somewhere? And when I say flyer, I mean like Brendan Donovan type from the Cardinals who has hit, doesn't necessarily have a position and it feels like we're getting away from that. How do you change the Yankees narrative? Is there a bad money exchange with a Nolan Aaronado? Every Yankee pundit that matters seems to shoot that down real quick. That now that you have Max Freed, you're going to have Max Freed, Garrett Cole and I can say 99% Rodan. I did have Joe's McFly in my ear telling me that Rodon's a tradable contract. 4104 is literally trade a bull.
Jared Goff
Are we trading that to get a return?
Justin Jefferson
That's Yankee fans being Yankee fans a little bit next off season. Let's talk about that. Sure. And then if you've got some real good for us, we're going to throw Luis heal at you something a little less probably Clarky. And then we talk Nestor and Stroman. So the Yankees are going to be able to fill their holes. It's just going to be interesting to see what they believe in. Are they going to give young Jason Dominguez and center a chance? Seems like it. He played at the MLB level. He showed a little bit. Center field is his position. There's not a ton of center fielders out there. Their organizational center field depth at the higher levels, you know, not great. It really is Trent Christian behind him. But that's a fine guy to have behind a rookie.
Jared Goff

Glove the six weeks he really played. He did legitimately produce offensively. Yeah, I mean I guess I was saying bring in Michael A. Taylor but I mean him and Trent Grisham are similar. Lefty, righty. But we've been yelling that Trent Grisham hits lefties better. So I don't. If you don't add any outfielder, they need to add on outfielder because. Yeah. So two, two of those guys. We're excited to see where the Yankees go next. I'm excited to see where the Red Sox go next. And I think like I talked about, there's. There's so many free agent signings and there's probably a couple of you that will be like, well, you just talked about Yankees, Red Sox. Yeah, they just got two premium lefties. They're the most recent news stories. And like I talked about, there's so many other topics that I want to talk about. Tyler O'Neal, I really want to talk about Clay Holmes, the start. I very much want to talk about that.

So let me tee up a little football recap. I was so excited with the breaking news that I wasn't fully locked in. And hey, I'll be honest with the people. I'm interested to see my relationship with the NFL the next couple weeks between, well, holidays. That's going to be extra football. That's kind of a. What's. What's it called when you have a vice? Yeah, Holiday sports. Big time vice, I guess. Sports are always my vice. But the league I cared about in fantasy, nobody cares. I get it. That last chase to burrow cost me. Cost me a shot at the playoffs in the one league I care about that I go on a trip every year. I could have. Also part of the story I'm leaving out. I started. I started Pacheco for the first time since he got hurt over Jameson Williams that I lost by two points. There was a three point gap between them. So if I just didn't make that plug, I would still be dancing. That's none of my business because we like consuming sports. And on Thursday night I act like I wasn't going to be watching. What am I talking about? It's Rams. Niners, folks. Folks, The Rams are 7 and 6. People saw Maddie Stafford last week. They took down the Bills. Pukinakua. Looks like. Looks like you put in a cheat code. Sometimes it's like he's either too strong or some of his abilities are just insane. The joke around the office was that there's weeks where they go to him every play and then they hit Coop once a quarter. The Rams looked really good. It's going to be interesting to see where their defense is really at and if that plays week to week. And The San Francisco 49ers, who were kind of in count amount five and seven last in the division, they look the best they've looked against the Bears, but I'm a little bit of a Bears hater. But you're going to get, you're going to get everything out of the Niners. Purdy looked as good as he's looked all season. Guerindo, big fantasy pickup. He's one of these guys. The story is just weird. I think he had one or two college starts. Like he was a transfer guy and an injury guy. But he also has like these combine numbers that are insane. That it's just, it's one of those things. Me and my buddies watched him on the 49ers for a couple plays and were like a couple, couple guys texted. They were like, garando's got juice. Like, we're NFL scouts, nothing. And then the story came out and it's like, it's one of those times when you're like, this is where having Kyle Shanahan or being the 49ers is cool. You can take a shot on the guy who, again, I think it's two college starts, but he had these freak combine numbers that if you're the Niners, you're like, okay, pick them in the fifth round. Let's say all that stuff was random, random, random. I think you might see a legacy Isaac Orendo fantasy football performance for anyone who has him in their playoffs coming up. I don't know. You're going to see the Niners roll out everything this game. It'll be interesting to see if they're both sitting there at 77 with a couple weeks ago on Thursday Night Football Sunday. Let's see what stands out. Chiefs, Browns? Not really. We'll watch. You could see, could even see the Browns winning that game. Just to add, just to add to an all time weird Brown season. If they could have beaten the Steelers, the Ravens and the Chiefs, that'd be a fun anecdote. I mean, the Chiefs are only four and a half point favorites in Cleveland because the Chiefs like accidentally win every game even though they have a player considered the best of all time, the Chiefs. I haven't even done my full mental gymnastics on that. Yeah, but you're not going to watch that game. Same with Bengals, Titans. Just got to be real good on that. Joe Burrow continue to put up historic numbers. Same with Jamar Chase. That'll be fun. Commander Saints Commanders coming off their bye week playing the Saints Derek Carr I believe out for the season. Perfect for the Commanders wind going into the bye week. Bye week Come out and hear the injured Saints could be closer than the experts think. Or the Commander's hype train is going to leave the station again. If Jaden Daniels is now healthy again and all that jazz in New Orleans if they have a rusty first quarter coming out of the by Washington - seven and a half a little scary for me. I'm probably good on it. Speaking of Ravens G men Baltimore -16 and a half. You don't see that a lot in the pros because these guys are professionals. That's tough man. In MetLife that number could be really low. You could. You could watch the first quarter of the game and that number could be really low. The Giants kind of it's time. I know it's been the big conversation on talking Giants, that Shane, their gm, even dayball it's kind of clear house time. I I know that shouldn't always be a solution but where are we at it? It feels unfair because they've had good moments and three years and but all that first year. All that first year it feels like a all other factors out of it. Like they should get more time like.
Jared Goff
By normal rules of these things but like vibes wise it is time.
Justin Jefferson
I just don't know that's must watch for all the wrong reasons. Let's see. Cowboys, Panthers. No thank you. Although the Bryce Young resurgence has been fun. I mean his stats on the year are still, you know, resurgence and air quotes. But you don't need to Jets, Jaguars. My God. Promise me you won't watch that Dolphins Texan Sure. Let's find out where our Houston Texans are at. Sexy to start the year faded hard. The Dolphins kind of the reverse dug themselves a hole that they almost have to win out. But they're doing dolphin things. Historically they beat the bad team, they lose to the good team. And Texans we're not sure right now that's what makes that one fun. So the 1pm slate. Ew. Maybe enjoy your Sunday. Go for a bike ride because that is something. At 4pm Broncos and Colts two horses. People forget that my Broncos are 8 and 5. I'm drinking the Bonix Kool Aid. Something about Sean Payton rubs me the wrong way. Sean Payton is like my least ideal father in law. Like God how brutal that guy would be to me. Maybe I need it. And maybe that's what Bo Nicks needed. Broncos and Colts. A scary one for me a little bit if AR5 has an AR5 day or Jonathan Taylor breaks one loose. The Broncos defense is really good. It's at mile high. They should feel mile high. Let's go to nine and five. Let's get nuts. Let's make the Broncos a little scary. Bo Nicks hey, for how much I like Jaden Daniels, I should be saying a lot of the stuff for Bo Nicks cause he has been outplaying him of late and I'm in. I'm ready to get hurt again. Michael Scott meme 4:00pm Here we go. We're playing football. Steelers, Eagles. Oh God. Do not tailgate this game. Yes.
Jared Goff
Pennsylvania Bowl.
Justin Jefferson
Oh my God. Just brass knuckles and half the people's pockets at this game. Eagles are 11 and 2. They're my current super bowl favorites. Mike Tomlin getting the Steelers up for this game. Oh, this is going to be a fun one. You're going to see some real hitting. You know how I'd say once a game you hear a hit through the microphones that you're like, oh God. And usually the commentators say something too that you're like, dude, we can hear that without the audio. That feels like one of those games. The Eagles have turned into a drama show like they were. They kind of got away from it and now they're back. All their players are calling out Jalen Hurts, which feels like not the strategy, but maybe that's that. Philly Tough love. This is a must watch game of the weekend. Eagles are a minus five and a half point favorite football wise. That feels right. But the Tomlin factor here might be Steel City for me. Patriots? Cardinals. No. Cardinals. Six and seven get a win, make the NFC West a disaster. Patriots playing for next year. Buccaneers? Chargers? Yes and no. I mean this. I realize this isn't how it works because they're in different leagues. This feels like a wild card weekend game that you're like, yeah, great. Okay, the Bucks made it. Baker. Nice. They got some fun pieces. Everyone's a Bucky Irving. Stan. Mike Evans. Hall of Fame. Yep. Chargers are 8 and 5. Just lost to the Chiefs last week. And the way the Chiefs win every game. Yeah, that's a nerdy. If you like football, you're going to like that. I'll. I'll watch Baker and Harbaugh all the time. They might even early prediction. They get into a yelling match and everyone loves them both more for it. And they love each other more for it. That's like the perfect father in law pairing. So at 4pm Steelers, Eagles, Bucks, Chargers. That's kind of where you want to be. Bo. Nick dominating Sunday night Packers Seahawks. Okay. Little funky NFC. NFC matchup in Seattle. So you know the 12th man will be trying to break the sound record. Make sure I tell Jimmy about that. Packers. A lot of people like them and they're a minus three favorite in Seattle. You'd think they're the better team. Geno stats look really odd on the year. 14 touchdowns, 12 picks. JSN has fully taken off for them. He could break a thousand yards receiving in this game. That that'll be a good watch. So get ready for the late slate this weekend. Book things early Sunday. A Monday double dip.
Jared Goff

Podcast Summary: The Dan Patrick Show - REACTION: Red Sox Trade for Garrett Crochet
Episode Information
1. Breaking News: Red Sox Acquire Garrett Crochet ([02:17] - [06:44])
The episode kicks off with Justin Jefferson announcing a significant development in Major League Baseball: the Boston Red Sox have officially traded for pitcher Garrett Crochet from the Chicago White Sox. Jefferson expresses genuine excitement, highlighting Crochet's potential impact on the Red Sox roster.
Justin Jefferson ([02:17]): "Garrett Crochet is a Boston Red Sock. Holy smoke. This just happened."
2. Player Analysis: Garrett Crochet's Profile and Performance
Jefferson and Goff delve into Crochet's impressive career trajectory, emphasizing his powerful pitching capabilities and recent performance statistics. They discuss his breakout season, where he amassed four WAR over 146 innings with a staggering 209 strikeouts, showcasing his dominance on the mound.
Justin Jefferson ([04:15]): "He had his breakout season last year. Four WAR season, 146 innings, 209 strikeouts. That's a 13 K per nine."
Goff adds context by comparing Crochet's early career to other promising prospects, noting his rapid ascent and resilience following previous injuries.
Jared Goff ([05:20]): "He works his way back. The White Sox are bad now. Update for you. Garrett Crochet."
3. Strategic Implications for the Red Sox ([06:44] - [19:22])
The discussion shifts to the broader implications of the trade for the Red Sox. Jefferson posits that this move signifies the team's intention to bolster their pitching rotation significantly, potentially positioning them for a competitive stance in the upcoming season.
Justin Jefferson ([06:44]): "When you're looking at Max Freed and his 30 million a year or whatever it landed. The Red Sox said, hey, we could cash in on a third and fifth prospect and get Garrett Crochet for two mil and then, I don't know, six mil in his walk here or whatever."
Goff concurs, emphasizing the financial savvy of the Red Sox management in acquiring a high-potential pitcher without exorbitant financial commitments.
Jared Goff ([07:10]): "That financial equation is absolutely brilliant and it leaves the door open for them doing so much more."
The hosts analyze the current Red Sox pitching roster, suggesting that Crochet's addition complements existing talents like Heraldis Chapman and Liam Hendrix, thereby strengthening their rotation depth.
Justin Jefferson ([10:30]): "The rotation would then be Crochet, Halk, Baio, Cutter, Crawford, and then we're talking some Dick Fitz and Cooper Criswell."
4. Comparing Team Strategies: Red Sox vs. Yankees
A substantial portion of the conversation contrasts the Red Sox's proactive trade strategy with that of their rivals, the New York Yankees. Jefferson points out that while the Red Sox are actively enhancing their roster, the Yankees are making aggressive moves, such as signing Max Freed with a record-breaking contract for a left-handed starting pitcher.
Justin Jefferson ([22:04]): "The Yankees paid a different price tag. Instead of prospect capital, they gave him eight years, $218 million for Max Freed. That is the highest price tag ever given to a lefty starting pitcher."
The hosts discuss the potential ripple effects of these moves, debating whether the Red Sox will follow suit with more high-profile signings or maintain a balanced approach by integrating promising prospects like Marcelo Mayer and Roman Anthony.
Jared Goff ([15:50]): "The Red Sox have all the pieces to a lineup and there's lineup statistics. Last year, a lot of them landed in a good spot."
Jefferson raises concerns about the Red Sox's future free-agent spending habits, wondering if the ownership's investments in other sports ventures might influence their baseball commitments.
Justin Jefferson ([18:15]): "I am worried that these Red Sox still don't truly spend on free agents. That's why they did this signing."
5. Future Prospects and Team Dynamics ([19:22] - [36:55])
The conversation extends to the future prospects of the Red Sox, including the potential for trading other promising players like Tristan Casas and the overall depth of their farm system. Goff highlights the importance of retaining top-tier prospects to sustain long-term competitiveness.
Jared Goff ([25:40]): "If they can hold on to those two, bring on a competitive team for this year, the Red Sox are going to start feeling good about the next five years."
Jefferson shifts focus to the dynamics of other MLB teams, notably the Yankees, discussing their lineup and potential trade targets. The hosts analyze how both teams' strategies reflect their ambitions and the competitive landscape of the league.
Justin Jefferson ([33:00]): "The Yankees have serious work to do in the lineup. And it scares me because like I previously mentioned on this episode of Wake and Jake, they missed the playoffs."
6. Conclusion and Final Thoughts ([36:55] - End)
In wrapping up, Jefferson and Goff reiterate the significance of the Red Sox's acquisition of Garrett Crochet, forecasting a positive impact on the team's performance. They express optimism about the Red Sox's direction while remaining cognizant of the competitive pressures from rivals like the Yankees.
Justin Jefferson ([36:55]): "If the Red Sox want to be back at the table, they put their chips in. They are excited and they should be excited."
Jared Goff ([37:30]): "The Red Sox have put their chips in. They are excited and they should be excited. And I'm interested to see the next steps because man, they can really hold on to their top two prospects in Meyer and Anthony who are supposed to be real ones."
The hosts conclude with a forward-looking perspective, anticipating further developments in MLB trades and the evolving strategies of major teams.
