We tend to come back to this question and we really don't know the answer because the answer can't be delivered until January and or February. Great regular season team, great quarterback during the regular season. How threatening are they? They appear to be threatening, but then it doesn't matter during the regular season. We want to wait till the postseason. But what we're seeing so far, they go to 8 and 4, they beat a good charger team on the road, and the Ravens beat the Chargers 30 to 23. Derrick Henry 140 yards and you also have to look at the Chargers. The Chargers feel like a good story, a nice story, but I don't think we attach the same value or I guess, adjectives of man, they're dangerous. You know, they're going to be a tough out. I don't know that. They don't have the offensive firepower. And if the defense doesn't shut you down, I just don't think they're going to win. And I'm talking about winning playoff games. But I like what I see with Harbaugh. You know, he's, he's tried to bring Michigan mentality to the Chargers. I think he's done a pretty good job so far. But I mean, you win those games, it's a home game. If you want to prove that you're a playoff team, you win those games. A couple of teams would come to mind for me. The Vikings and the Ravens. And we have college football rankings coming out tonight. And you also have basketball. You have Duke at Kansas and the Lakers at the Suns. All righty, Seaton, let's get started. First hour. What do you think? Well, we have here from Paulie, we've got the Baltimore Ravens are clear super bowl contenders or underwhelming okay. Seems fair. All right. Yes. Paul, do you want to add. Yeah. This goes back to the morning meeting. We were kind of riffing on the game last night, and I got done watching that game, and I felt if I was a Ravens fan, I'd feel pretty good about it. Ran the ball well. Lamar didn't have to do a ton. The defense, I thought, played pretty well in stopping, slowing down, the Chargers, not stopping. I felt good about it. Then Seaton goes, no, no, they didn't look at good at all. And I can't tell if I'm right or he's right. Well, you might both be right. That, yeah, they did look pretty good. But let's look at big picture. The defense isn't good. Yeah, no Roquan last night. But they. It doesn't matter. They're not a good defense now. They are a really good offense, but I. Eventually, you got to lean on your defense come playoff time, and I don't think they can lean on their defense the way they have before. Yes, I know. That's like, my big problem with the Ravens is their defense. They clearly, they missed Rokon Smith, but he's not going to change the whole. The total output. Their offense is always great, but you feel like they should have more for some reason, even no matter how many yards Derek Henry runs for. I'm kind of like, man, he probably could have gotten more, though, or Lamar Jackson. It feels like they should win every game, 72 to 70. That'd be awesome. Baltimore has struggled on defense. They've given up more than 24 points a game. They're ranked near the bottom against the pass. They did have four sacks. They limited Justin Herbert to under. Under 220 yards passing. Now, if they do that now, all of a sudden, you got my attention. If not, they're just a fun curiosity here. And I know we're going to do the same thing to Lamar. We did to Giannis and we did to the Joker. We can't give you another mvp. You got to win a title. Yes, I understand there's, like, voter fatigue, but it's a regular season award, and if you're the best player, the most valuable player during the regular season, then you deserve it. I don't grade you on a curve and go, you're good during the regular season, but can't do it that way. I know we want our quarterbacks to win the big game. You got to have one super bowl on your resume. He has to get to a Super Bowl. Just get there. And I think maybe that would Put people at ease. That Lamar Jackson, I think you probably still have people going, he's a Hall of Famer, right. I'm thinking, yes. If he wins a third mvp, like you're talking about dominance in a small window playing at the same time as Patrick Mahomes. Now, Mahomes wins Super Bowls. That puts you legacy status, all time status. That gives you goat status. Lamar Jackson won't have that. He might win four MVPs. He can be like Rogers. But Rogers won a Super bowl. And it, you know, once you win that super bowl, it's like we move on to the next topic. But we won't move on until Lamar wins the super bowl, at least gets to a Super Bowl. Is it fair? Probably not. But it's the most important position in all the sports and we give them way too much credit and way too much blame. Is it all on Lamar Jackson? It's not, but a lot of it is. When you win, the quarterback gets the credit. When you lose the quarterback, we start there shouldn't be that way all the time because you can look at play calling. You could look at, you know, Baltimore went one dimensional last year. You're at home against Kansas City. And we said the same thing last year. Kansas City is at its most vulnerable. And then you have this year they're even more vulnerable. And if you don't get them now, are you going to get them? Is Baltimore, is Buffalo, Houston? Like, who's going to get them? Are they vulnerable? Absolutely. But you're vulnerable too. In the last two minutes, when Patrick Mahomes has the football, if he gets the ball last, it's over. So they're vulnerable for all but two minutes of the game, it feels like. And then you're vulnerable if he gets the football. What else do you have today? Seaton O'Connor. I've got probably the greatest gift thus far of the holiday season. Okay, poll questions from Todd. Oh, okay. All right. All right. Okay. Well, he's got a similar poll question to Paul, but slightly different. A more accurate overreaction off Monday Night Football would be, see, I told you the Chargers were a fraud. Or the Ravens are going to the Super Bowl. These are overreactions off of last night. I would. Okay, I'll give you mine first. I would say the Ravens are going to the super bowl would be an overreaction. I would say that. Todd, you want to answer your own poll question? I'm going to go with C. I told you the Chargers were fraud. Okay. Because they had a chance to be eight and Three in a standalone game at home, and now they're seven and four, just a half a game ahead of my Broncos. And I don't know where the Bolts are going the rest of the way. Seaton, you've been in. In on the Chargers. Are they frauds? No, I'm still in. Okay. I think it would be an overreaction to say the Ravens are going to the Super Bowl. All right. Marvin, what about you? I'm in. In on the charges being a fraud? No, no, no, no. On them being good. Well, like a legit team, then. What's. What's your answer to the poll question? The overreaction, Todd, which is a more accurate overreaction. And I may have gotten my own poll question wrong based on the way I described the charges. Now that I think about it, I don't think I made any sense with my description. I would be going with the Ravens based on how I described that the charges are in trouble because the more accurate overreaction is, I told you the charges were a fraud. The Ravens are going to the Super Bowl. So wait a minute. So when you say an accurate overreaction, that means which one do you think is more right to say so? You. It means which is what I think I got wrong. So it's not actually. It's not really an overreaction if you think it's right. Right or no, to me, the way I wrote it, I might have made this very confusing. Which one is more fair to say? I think I know. Charges are a fraud or the Ravens are going to the super bowl, which is a more fair comment. By the way, this is one of four questions that Todd has sent in today. Which is a more reasonable thing to believe the charges are a fraud. The Ravens are going to the super bowl, which is a more reasonable thing. Which one is more accurate? What does reasonable mean of those two statements, which is a more reasonable thing to come up. Come across with after last night's outcome? But you're saying it's a reasonable overreaction. So you're saying it's an overreaction, but it's more true. What's a more accurate overreaction? What's a more accurate overreaction means which is a more reasonable thing to deduce from what happened last night. Even though it's an overreaction off of last night's game, I still believe it's true, which I look at these as both overreactions. Which one is less of an overreaction? Holy smokes. We're 12 minutes in it wasn't meant to be this complicated. Okay. Which one is a more fair thing to believe? Okay. I think it's an overreaction to say after watching the Ravens they're going to the Super Bowl. Did I answer it correctly? I think so, yeah. Which is a more fair thing to believe? Is it more reasonable to say the Ravens are going to go to the super bowl just because they won last night? Or is it more reasonable to say the charges are a fraud because they lost last night? So, Dan, if you believe more in the Ravens, then you pick the Chargers. But is that an overreaction? But it's reasonable. Right? It clears that up. Marvin, what is more likely. Do you think the Chargers are a fraud more than you do the Ravens are going to the Super Bowl? Yes. That's good. I love the way he said that. Yeah. I'm going to wait, you know, after the commercial break for your other poll questions. I think I got a. I think I have to process this one. I think I was right, now that I think about it, that going with the charges being a fraud, that's the more reasonable thing to believe than the Ravens. I think it's more likely the Ravens go to the super bowl and the Chargers do anything significant the rest of the way. Back to you. We'd like to say hello to our radio affiliates if you're still with us this morning. Thank you. Over 400 cities that carry this well, formally award nominated program and of course, those watching on Peacock. So we'll come up with our poll question a little bit later on. Albert Breer, the Monday morning quarterback. We'll talk to Chris Sims from Football Night in America. Sean Salisbury, our favorite. He'll join us from Houston. Hello. Or H town, as Fritzie likes to call it. Or is it hutown? It should be huge. It's huge. I think some people call it H town, but they're all wrong. It's actually hub. The abbreviation is hou. When you look at the scoreboard at the. At the games, Texans game, Astros games. So it's Huown. Okay. H. Could be anything. Could be Harrisburg town for all we know. Hamburg. Who knows where you are? Harvard. Yeah, but hu, make no mistake. Hun, it's got to be Houston. Hu. Now, is it overreaction to calling it H town or huffer? Yeah, just fair question, make sure. Fair question, make sure. I got that, man. That's heavy work. We just got started. Todd. More accurate overreact. Is that the most Todd Fritzian poll question of all time? Yes or no? That might be a second poll question here by cj. He just tweeted that this is the fritziest poll question segment of all time. Yes, I think that's. Yes, I don't want to over is this the most like Todd without being anything. It makes a lot of sense and no sense at the same time. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. I mean, they come to watch and I never been in tennis and my coach starts saying, well, let me explain the scoring. It's 15 love 30. I go, I know, 45, right? They go, no. And I go, and I'm 11 years. And I said to him, this is the stupidest great English, the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Now I know I'm like a lot of kids. I don't come from tennis. My family's not in tennis. He is Albert Breer. He's the Monday morning quarterback, senior NFL reporter. All right, we've been talking about the. Let's overreact to what we saw with the Ravens or overreact with what we saw with the Chargers. Let me start with the Ravens. If I said the Ravens are a true super bowl contender, you would say. I would say they are. Yeah. I mean, I. They were in the AFC championship game last year, and they've been knocking on the door for a while, you know, so obviously they got played better than they did in the title game last year. But I mean, if you look at the field in the afc, you know, I do. I think they can compete with Kansas City and Buffalo because that's really what we're talking about. I do. And one of the cool things about the Ravens, Dan, is like, they've continued to get better over the course of the year. Like, they were turning over 60% of their offensive line on defense. They lost their edge rushers. They lost, you know, like they lost, you know, Patrick Queen and essentially, like they were gambling on their ability to develop people through their program. And it went to the coaching staff, too, and replacing Mike McDonald with Zach or. And so I think that's why this is a team that I think you say has been ascending that Steeler game notwithstanding over the course of the year. And so, like, I, I think it's fair to think, like, they're going to be better at the end of December than they are right now, and then they should be better at the end of January than they are at the end of December. So, yes, I think they're a Super bowl contender, and it feels like we're top heavy. There's three teams that are going to could go to the super bowl in the afc, and there's two in the NFC or the Lions and Eagles, you say? Yeah, that's a good question. Yeah, I. I would say. I mean, like, you have like those teams that it's like, if they sneak in, could they catch fire? Right? So I w Cincinnati and San Francisco, right, Like where, like, if one of those teams sneaks in, like those teams have been to super bowl, so could those teams get in as like the six or seven seed? And then all of a sudden you look up and like they've beat a couple teams that you would have expected them to beat and they're in the conference title game, you know, And I want to be fair to the packers and the Vikings as well, right? Yeah. And I think the packers and the Vikings to me are like such an awesome story of a, Of. Of a. Of a football operation that's like, sort of turned things over. And, you know, the amazing thing about them is, is that you lose, like two guys you could argue are the most important players. All due respect to Justin Jefferson over the last decade for that franchise. Right. Because the longevity thing was Sam Darnold and Neil Hunter, well, they've got younger and you could argue maybe better at those two spots, like replacing Kirk Cousins with Sam Darnold, replacing Danielle Hunter with Andrew Van Ginkel and, And Jonathan Granard and Dallas Turner. Like, I think they've set themselves up long term. Do I think they can win a Super bowl or get to a Super bowl with their issue at tackle right now with, you know, with some of the things they've been working through, injury wise, maybe not. But I'm really impressed with what they do, what they've done, and I think they're set up much better for the next five years for it. The packers still feel like they've got a high ceiling, so I'm with you on that one. Like, if the packers can jam on the accelerator the way they did at the end of last year, then obviously they'd be very dangerous going into the playoffs. What's the Daniel Jones market right now? So I think the Daniel Jones market's one that's marked by curiosity is probably the best way to put it. Right. Like, if I'm, If I'm Daniel Jones, I'm following the Sam Darnold plan. I am. I am looking for a place where I can go and learn and I can go be in a good system and I can go kind of take a breath and reset. And the temptation, of course, would be like, well, you know, do you go to, you know, say, Vegas, where they've got, you know, potentially an opportunity for him to play within a couple of weeks? Or do you go to Dallas where, you know, if Cooper Rush, you know, stubs his toe, you get in the game. And I understand that. Like, to me, like. And I think there are people around him who are thinking this way. He looked broken with the Giants and like, a huge part of it was like, his inability to pull the trigger on plays. Like there were plays in that Carolina game where it was clearly there for him and he either overshot somebody or he held the ball and took a sack or. And you can see the frustration on the sidelines. Like, you know, one of the. A couple People who evaluate this stuff said to me, go look at the All 22 and look at the sideline on this player that plays. And you can see everyone throwing their hands up, like, that's the point that it was at, you know, which is part of the reason why they had to bench him and eventually he winds up being released. So I don't think that's a player who needs to jump in there and play right now. I think that's a player who needs to hit the pause button and kind of reset himself a little bit and get in a good learning environment. And to me, that's what Sam Darnold was and why I think Sam Darnold benefited so much from that year with Kyle Shanahan playing behind Brock Purdy in San Francisco. Like, I think that's what. What Daniel Jones needs right now. So my. My guess. I know some people have said this to him. My guess would be the best landing spot for him would be a place like Buffalo, you know, Baltimore, where he's not going to play, but he'll be in a good environment to learn. Could you see a scenario where the jets bench Aaron Rodgers by the end of the year? I mean, if they're out of it, sure. You know, that could be a mutual thing. But aren't they out of it? I mean, like, there's out of it. Like, you and I know they're out of it, and then there's out of it. Like, we're out of it, you know. Wait a minute. Explain. Like, are they're not out out. Well, I mean, like, you. The coach is still. I'll put it this way, the coach is still trying to sell his roster on, like, hey, if X and Y and Z happens, this thing's not over, you know, like, so if you're Jeff Ulbricht, you can't sell that to the team and say, oh, yeah, you know, oh, yeah, Aaron, you can go ahead and, you know, schedule some tee times for this week. You know what I mean? You can't sell that to the rest of the players if you're doing that. So, like, I. I think that's the. That's the subtle difference we're talking about, right? Like, the difference between you and I both know the jets aren't going anywhere versus, like, the coach and everyone in the roster being resigned to it. I don't think the jets are quite at that point where everyone's resigned to it yet, because there is a. I. Look, if they somehow won six in a row, then, you know, could they sneak in Maybe, you know, so I think those are two different things. But I, I certainly think as we get to the, as we get closer to the end of the year and all this crystallizes and it becomes real that there, that there's just no chance and that it's over. You know, then you start to talk about things like making a mutual decision on Aaron Rodgers, whether or not it's, it's time to shut him down. Okay, but what kind of market is there going to be for Aaron Rodgers next season? Well, I mean, the big thing is whether or not he wants to play. And, you know, one thing a couple times I've talked to him about it that he brought up is not wanting to go out the way that he went out last year. Right. So if he didn't want to go out having torn his Achilles, do you think he's want to, want to go out like this? Maybe not, you know, so I don't think it'll be. I don't think there'll be a robust market for him, and I think it'll be narrow, the same way it was narrow for him a couple of years ago, where you need to check a lot of boxes to even want him. But could there be an opportunity out there for him? Sure, I think there could be an opportunity out there for me. Still. Aaron Rodgers, you know, I think the one thing that kind of cuts him off the knees a little bit is like, you know, if you're a team with a young quarterback or a team that has designs on going and getting a young quarterback, you want Aaron Rodgers, the guy in that room with your young quarterback? Maybe not. Now, I think he would argue that it worked out pretty well for Jordan Love, but, you know, maybe you wouldn't want all the noise that Aaron Rodgers would bring with him into, into a quarterback room. But I have to think somebody out there would look at it and say, yeah, you know, we've got a roster that we think is close. We're not happy with our quarterback situation the same way the chats were a couple of years ago. You know, maybe we go and do this. And again, I wouldn't, I wouldn't totally rule out the idea that he's back with the jets next year just because we have no idea who's running the organization next year. Albert Breer, the Monday morning quarterback Senior NFL reporter How many head coaching openings do you think we'll have by season's end? I mean, seven to ten. We already have two. So we have the Jets. Ten? Yeah, I think so. I mean, I like looking at it like, so we have, we have two, we have the Saints and the Jets. I think we can agree that Jags are sort of a fade accomplish. Right? So that's three. Dallas looks like it's going that way. That's four. So now you only need three more, you know, so I think it's somewhere between seven and 10. Like I don't think it's gonna be record breaking or anything like that, but I, I think it's somewhere between seven and 10. And you know, it's going to be an interesting market too, just because I don't think there's like one trend that's like overwhelmingly like, oh yeah, everybody's gonna be picking from this bucket because you have different types of candidates out there. You have the young offensive guru and Ben Johnson, but you don't have a ton of guys who fit that profile. Right? Like there aren't a ton of them. You have, you know, your former head coach, obviously Belichick Vrabel. And then, you know, you have, you have the ex player category, the Dan Campbell, the Mike Vrabel, the Demico Ryan's that category with a guy like Aaron Glenn. So, you know, I think teams that are jumping into this this year are going to look at it and say this isn't the deepest market of candidates. And not only that, there isn't like one bucket that's particularly deep. So we really, we're really going to have to take a global look at the market and be willing to pick from a different bucket than maybe we go in intending to. But if you're looking at these openings, potential openings most desirable, I'm looking at the Jets. Rogers coming back doesn't make me want to take that job. The Cowboys situation. No, but, yeah, go ahead, go ahead. Sorry, Dan. No, but just trying to handicap this. If I look at Jacksonville, do they have their franchise quarterback? The Bear situation to me looks. Now you have that deal with the Bears organization or the owner, but it really feels like there are pieces there. And do I have potentially the best quarterback available for all of these coaching candidates there with Chicago as opposed to Dallas or Jacksonville? Well, Chicago, you do have the advantage of the guy being on a rookie contract too, right? So like you have that for the next two to three years where you know he's going to be under cost control and you're going to have the ability to put some things around. And because of that, and that's not a small thing, I would agree that I think Chicago and Jacksonville look to me like the Ones that have like the easiest path out where you could win for the next couple of years. Pretty and you get it up and running pretty fast. Past I think that they're different setups, though. I think Chicago may be the job for a guy who just wants to go coach and maybe a better spot for a younger coach because they have a team president and Kevin Warren who's going to be involved. They have, you know, the front office in place. We'll see if Ryan polls makes it. My guess is that's probably going to depend on the coach hire. But I think the likelihood would be that polls will help with the would be a part of the coaching search if Maddie Refleuss doesn't turn it around over the next six weeks. So that one may be just like a guy who's coming in just a coach. Jacksonville could be the place where somebody comes in and gets tossed the keys to the kingdom and shot. Khan says you go fix it, you know, and so like, that's where like, for somebody like Belichick, it's, well, if I want to set it up a certain way, this is the one that's kind of giving me the, the, the, the, the, the, the blank slate, you know, the, the sort of canvas to paint whatever I want to paint here. And so I think they set up a little bit differently. And obviously both the attractiveness of each job is going to depend on your own evaluation of the quarterback. There are a lot of people who think Trevor Lawrence has just been done in by his circumstances. There are others that don't think that highly of Trevor, you know, so how do you see him? How do you see Caleb? You know, what have you heard about Caleb? You know, like, I think all those things are going to play into how attractive those jobs are to candidates. Good stuff as always. Happy Thanksgiving. Thanks for joining us, Albert. All right, Happy Thanksgiving to all you guys. Thanks, Dan. That's Albert Breer, Monday morning quarterback. Hey, everyone, it's Sarah Spain from Good Game with Sarah Spain. And we're in the beautiful city of Malaga, Spain, where we just watched team Italy win the Billie Jean King Cup. Before the final, we got a chance to sit down with Billie Jean herself. Take a listen. Well, look at the scoring. I think it should be 1, 2, 3, 4. How do you get new kids in the game? I mean, they come to watch and I never been in tennis and my coach starts saying, well, let me explain the scoring. It's 15, love 30. I go, I know, 45, right? They go, no. And I go, and I'm 11 years old. And I said to him, this is the stupidest great English, the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Now I know I'm like a lot of kids. I don't come from tennis. My family's not in tennis. And if you are in tennis as a child, you still want to make it fun. And I think when you start tennis, you should be put on a team. Just put them on a team. That can be a great team. Make it less individual from the beginning because it's about relationships. Yeah. What'd you take away from last night's game that Baltimore still elite and then I think Dan and the Chargers will give people problems because they're physical and it's a Harbaugh team. I just don't think they're explosive enough. But Baltimore Dan I've contended for the last couple years and now adding Derrick Henry to this mix I think the toughest team in the in on the planet to game plan for going into a week if you're a defensive coordinator is the Baltimore Ravens and if you watch Lamar Dan haven't you seen almost I don't want to say a transformation but it feels to me like he's doing more from the pocket and inside that inside the tackles as opposed to bail and early which I think is sustained and been better for him. The numbers weren't Dotty, but he's protecting the football. And then you got that big, you know, an outside linebacker playing running back. I think they're the most difficult to game plan with. And if they can get through January, this is a February team, but we'll see if they can handle January, which hasn't been their friend the last few years. But I'm wondering who has. Does anybody have more pressure on them than Lamar Jackson? No. This season coming, you know, going into the playoffs, I can do Kyle Shanahan, I can do Mahomes, a 3 Pete. I don't know who else would be in the mix? Well, Mahomes, I could tell you. Mahomes. For Mahomes, it's just his pressure is, is he going to be number 12 in New England? Right. And that's what we're starting to talk about with Kyle Shanahan. It's, can you call plays and get your team to expand their bandwidth and execute in February, late January? February. I'll tell you another name you can throw in there and I'll get back to Lamar is Josh Allen. And he has said this year, Dan, I don't know about you, but I had them fallen off a little bit. And he has elevated his play, which may have taken some of the pressure on. Well, if Josh doesn't win. But there's that category of the Prescott's, the Allen's, the Lamar Jackson who have been in there in January but haven't got to February. So I think there, there's a, there's a, there's a bunch of them in the team picture. And back to Lamar. Now, Dan, I want to take it another level with the pressure. Think if Lamar Jackson wins the super bowl and goes on and wins this MVP where he's one of the favorites along with Allen and Jared Goff. Dan, that'd be three MVPs in six years and a Super bowl championship. Now, we've done it for running backs Gail Stairs, Terrell Davis, who have dominated their sport for five or six, seven years. Doesn't that automatically put him in hall of Fame talk already? Yeah, think about that. I mean, I know that's a long ways away, but that's where we are with this cat. And he's playing great football, but I think he's at the top of the list because it'll help validate all those MVPs. It's as high as anything for him. Well, I think what we're doing to Lamar is what we did to the Joker and what we did to Giannis. We're like, we can't give you another MVP unless you're going to win a title. Well, they won titles. Nobody will argue if you give them another mvp. Lamar knows, hey, I'm great in the regular season. I have to, I have to win a championship just to validate. We did this with Favre, we did it with Rogers, we did it with Peyton. We wanted them to win a championship. Isn't it, isn't it amazing, Dan, with that think about Marino. You and I were watched him in the best. I mean the best. Maybe he's the best thrower of the football probably ever. And there's always a but at the end of it, which there shouldn't be, but there is. And Lamar, you're exactly right. And the more he continues to excel as an mvp, the more pressure falls on his shoulders to get to February. And now Dan, it's not just getting to that game, it's winning it. Because if he gets there and doesn't win it, what is the first thing we're going to say? Ah, too much height, too much pressure, can't quite do it. Which is unfair. But then again, it's not unfair, depending on what kind of performance he has in that game. But you're exactly right. And Giannis and Joker go get their thing and it's time for Lamar to do his. If I don't, I don't think it needs validation. But in the way we judge players at that position, wins and losses in super bowl championships are a quarterback stat. We never look at the left tackle and say, how many Super Bowls did you win while you got to the hall of Fame quarterback? We do no doubt a lot of pressure on him and no doubt the coach. It's Kyle Shanahan. It's not even close. I have bought into the Chargers before and paid the price. I can't, I can't. I still can't buy. You know, I love what Harbaugh does. He's trying to make them Michigan, the Michigan of the NFL. I'm just not sure. Just not sure. What about you, Dan? I hate to say this as much I like Jim and I like that physical, you know, it's weird, it's, it's strange because we know you can't be a finesse team and win a Super bowl if you're not physical. But if you're just physical and give body blows the whole time, we need you to have a little bit of finesse love too. Where I just don't think there's enough weapons. That's right about the time you'd say, man, it'd be great if Keenan Allen was still there. Right? Or you could get a Hunter Henry healthy. I just don't think they do and I don't either. Now, Dan, I think the last time you bought in the Chargers was when I played for the Chargers. I mean, I know you put a lot of money on our Super Bowl. They got a little bit better chance with that guy at quarterback. But the truth is I think they're a team that goes in and makes you work to win. I just don't think there's enough weapons, defense, they fly around, but I don't think you can be the three yards in a cloud of dust. They were just so superior. And think about what McCarthy did at Michigan, made another 20 and 22 didn't turn the ball over. This team's not explosive enough right now to win a Super Bowl. Let's see what happens with them over the next year or two playoffs. Yes, but they'll be an early out because there's not enough explosiveness. He Sean Salisbury, former USC NFL, CFL legend Speaking of usc, let me, let me hear your analysis of this. What do you expect to happen with your alma mater against Notre Dame? Not much. Can I go with the history of it that we have a lot of Pro Bowl. No. Hey, 100 years, great rivalry. Think about all the. I think, Dan, there's. What is there like 18 height or not 17 Heismans among the two they have. You know all the NFL players. In truth, I know if you're Lincoln Riley and I don't, I don't know the inside of how dangerous, what kind of danger, how hot the seat is. Daniel, I know this. If it's a hot speed and you don't beat UCLA and Notre Dame, you might as well grab an apple and a roadmap, take your ass out because you got no shot to keep it. Now you beat those two, there's that temptation to hang on the thing that continues to baffle me. We're just not physical enough to continue to and get enough plays to continue to play the teams like this. And I know Notre Dame's had their ups and downs, but they're a far better team than we are. We're far faster, more team speed. But that doesn't get you anything but a pat on the back and another loss. I like Notre Dame in the game if I'm picking it straight up, but it's a chance for, I don't want to say save their season, but it's a chance for The Trojans to at least go into the off season thinking, okay, what do we do next? But Dan, until they. I spend a lot of time weekly I meet with Bruce, Bruce Matthews, the all time great at line and we constantly talk about over the last handful of years that I talked to a lot of former players. The thing that drives all the pretty stuff that goes on with Nil and Collective and offenses that spread out in Lincoln, who's a brilliant play caller with all that, you know what they missed the most, speaking of three yards and a cloud of dust, is they want student body or they want to dominate the line of scrimmage. And until we do that at Southern Cal on both sides of the ball, we will not consistently beat good teams. You had a football player, Jesse and Caleb Williams, they couldn't beat anybody because you had to score 45 and they'd give up 48. Until that consistency there. Which baffles me that we can't get a defense to get stops and they make too many mistakes on offense. Physicality is a big problem for them. If it doesn't get fixed, Lincoln Riley will be coaching somewhere else. CJ Stroud has regressed a little bit here. As you know, playing the position. When defenses get a book on you, what you do well and then they try to force you to do, you know, take you out of your comfort zone. I don't know if it's something as simple as that. I know everybody has injuries, but you know, Tank Dell really seems to be the guy. When he plays, they win. But what do you see that C.J. stroud is not doing this year that he did last year? Yeah, Dan, I'm so glad you asked that. My head. I was frustrated Monday, then I woke up Tuesday. And I'm a Raider fan too. Think what a screwed up season. I'm a Raider fan, a Trojans fan and I'm locally here in Houston. So right now I got to get my focus on Thanksgiving. I woke up Monday irritated. Then I'm thinking about it this morning I woke up and I'm thinking, okay, the layers to this team. Yes. Crowd has regressed and I think part of it's the collateral damage and the constant hits where your eyes, Dan, go from seeing the coverage to feeling the rush to now being the rush and feeling the coverage. And you can't succeed that way. He is a great player with great mid level throw. Everything he does. He's got a chance to be special, but he's got to get out of that mode and you got to get the trust Factor back. The problem is how do you trust five guys up front where the guy who's supposed to be the best tackle or one of the three or four best in the league jumps off sides like a seven year old in this first Pop Warner game every friggin week. And when you continue to take the cumulative hits eventually the human nature is you're going to start doing things different. Balls going to come out premature. And the one thing Stroud's doing different this year, Dan, he's missing the easy stuff. I always say the best quarterbacks, Manning, Breeze, Brady, Warren, Moon of all time made the ordinary play look ordinary. We're not making the ordinary play here look ordinary and extraordinary. You can't live there. Even Mahomes with all the off schedule stuff with Andy Reid. What do they do Dan? Hit screens, hit shallow crosses, hit flat routes on third and three. Kelsey on a bang off option route to sit in the hole. And right now CJ's missing throws. Whether it's. And I mean I know he's not going to point the finger. He has not played as well and Bobby slow it. It's almost like with Mixon and with the injuries and with their success last year they're playing not to lose. They've lost some aggressiveness and so has Stroud. So he has taken a step back mechanics you deal with in the off season. He has got to get back into the simple stuff of making the ordinary play. That being said, until they do stuff up front with a pre snap penalties, all the stuff that makes you go nuts on a football team that gives you no shot to sustain success. They beat one good team, Buffalo, one good team. Other than that every win's been a team sub 500 and every other loss has been against a playoff caliber team. So they got a lot to do. Dan, he's going to be a great player but he's taken a step back and I think it's a cumulative of a lot of things. And this team has not handled success as well as they handled failure going into last year as a three win team. And here they are a team that was supposed to be a Super bowl type team and they're playing nothing like it. They're going to be an easy out if they don't get this fixed. Final 30 seconds. I'll give you the Lions or the field in the nfc. Give me the Lions. I picked him to go to the super bowl in August. I'm not backing off at best play caller not named Andy Reed in football and if he's got his foot on the throat. He'll make sure he twists it. And golf deserves to have MVP mentioned. I'll take the Lions. Happy Thanksgiving. Great to see you again. Thank you, buddy. Great to see you, bud. Happy Thanksgiving. Thanks, man. He's Chris Sims PRO Football Talk LIVE co HOST NBC Football Night America Analyst FORMER NFL quarterback How vulnerable are the Chiefs this year? I mean, I think they're more vulnerable than last year in some ways, right? I mean, their record was worse last year. At this point we were having some of the same questions, right? So it was the same type of stuff. But I think the difference this year is there's two things. The defense is not as good as last year, that I've been trying to tell people that for the last few weeks on my podcast and things like that to go. You don't see as many playmaking chaos, mess the play up type plays from people in the front seven. Chris Jones, Nick Bolton, whoever it may be. The biggest thing, Dan, is there's no luxurious need, right? Last year they had maybe two of the three top corners in football on the same team. So they could have go, hey, you guys, get on an island and we'll do whatever we want with the nine other guys. The other aspect of his injuries on the offensive side of the ball. And this time last year we saw Rasheed Rice starting to go trend upwards and go, ooh, he could be a guy here for the future. I don't see anybody like that in their offense right now. Where I go, oh, this guy. Watch out. I think Xavier Worthy is far off from that. And really, Dan, 40 years of like football intuition. I would go, there's no way they're going to go to the super bowl and win the super bowl this year. Except the fact that they kind of did this last year and had the horrible Christmas Day game. And it's the only thing that makes me hesitate saying it. But yeah, my overall body of football life wants to say, no, they're not going to do this, Daniel. They are vulnerable. And I said this earlier in the show, they're vulnerable until the final two minutes when Mahomes has the ball and then you're vulnerable. Well, they're, they're, they have a great clutch just about them. And because of their super bowl wins and so many other big wins, they just. What's pressure after you've won the super bowl the way they have a few times, right? Oh, no, it's regular season game number 11. Oh, no, we're down to Carolina. Ooh, that's pressure. So they're not going to buckle under any of that. And yeah, right now they kind of play a brand of football and I talked to other coaches in football about this. Just keep it close, keep it close and give 15 the ball late in the game and you're going to lose. And that's what scares everybody in the NFL right now. Belichick was on the Manning cast and he says so many things almost under his breath. He doesn't have any big proclamations, any big pronouncements. He's. He's just talking about. It's kind of meaningless to have a spy on Lamar Jackson because the spy is not as athletic as Lamar Jackson. So why bother? I mean, it's really simple when you think about, like, oh, we're going to spy him. Well, if the spy can't stop Lamar Jackson, why have a spy on Lamar Jackson, Right? Well, you got to have the right personnel. Now, I'll say to Bill Belichick and counterpoint that. Right. We just saw the week before Lamar Jackson, he couldn't scramble or run or do anything against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had a few like, design quarterback runs off the edge where he got some, some yardage, certainly, but he couldn't, he couldn't leave the pocket and make those magic Lamar plays. Why was that? One, they know how to play him and rush him. But two, to Belichick's point, they have a guy in Patrick Queen who is really fast and explosive to. Oh, I'm going to kind of spy him. As soon as Lamar gets out of the pocket, I'm going to be all over him and he's not going to buy five more seconds throwing the football. So, yeah, you can have special personnel for the most part, but more times than not. Yeah, a lot of teams aren't going to have that guy. And you got to just have guys underneath coverage that have eyes on them so they can rally and tackle and get to him. Feels like Jim Harbaugh needs a couple of years to bring what he wants to bring to the Chargers. You're seeing it. It's the embryonic stages, but it's almost as if they feel like they've overachieved a little bit, in my opinion, because, well, now my expectations weren't great this year just because I didn't think they had the weapons. And I think he wants to have that Michigan feel to the Chargers. But what is your takeaway from what you've seen with the Chargers? I like the Chargers. I do. In fact, I really enjoy watching their style of football play, but I think you kind of hit on it. They're old school and we're seeing this right now. The new thing in the NFL is run the ball and play action. That's the best offenses are doing that. It's the death of the spread and all that. So, yes, he's bringing that there. I like everything about them. They're physical, they're tough, they got a lot of the right pieces. They're just missing what I always call, like, sizzle. Right. The meat and potatoes are there, but they need a few more difference makers. Like you said, another splash receiver to go along. The group they probably need. They're going to need to get a running back that's big time if they want to play that style. Probably another D lineman. Most people can't name their D tackles and their DNS we know are coming to the end of their career, but, man, I. I think he's laid the framework down. I understand what you're saying. I think new energy of Harbaugh, people kind of trying to figure out Greg Roman's new wrinkles. And then, of course, what they're doing on defense has probably caught some teams by surprise. But I think they're a playoff team, and I think they're a playoff team that can win a game if they get in there. They could be dangerous that way. Harbaugh reminds me of Ted Lasso. Like, he's. He's goofy. Ted Lasso is a character, created character. Harbaugh is not a character that's created. That's just Harbaugh. It is. He's crazy. In a good way. You know, he is. And he's all about football. His social skills are different, definitely. I think I've told this story before. He made me mad once when I went interviewed him at the San Francisco 49ers. He didn't like one of the questions I asked, and he dropped. Dropped the mic and said, tell your dad I said hi and walked away. And I called him a jerk for about five years after that and all that. But, you know, as time goes by, you forgive. And I was around him a few times, and I feel like he was aware of that. He's tried to be cordial, but he is a pretty damn good guy. He just. Football. I got a chance to hang out with him at the super bowl in the hotel for a little while, and he couldn't have been better to my family and my mom and my aunt and all that, but he can't not talk football. Yeah, there's not a lot of, like, other, you know, roads of conversation. Yeah, but you didn't call him. You didn't call him a jerk to his face, though. No, no, I didn't call him a jerk to his. But I called it on camera and, you know, And I rooted against them for a little while. So I'm sure he heard some of that at some point. Do you think you could take Jim Harbaugh? Yes, I do. Right now. 100%. In his prime. I don't know about that. In his prime, that had been something for sure. He was a tough sob. How do you. How do you. I don't know what to make out about this. Jon Gruden maybe coaching again. Would the jets be interested? And you know how these things get started. Somebody will say, hey, speculation or rumor or innuendo. Then it becomes sort of a report. Ish. I don't know if you and Florio on Pro Football Talk have spoken about Gruden coming back and could you see him maybe with the Jets? We have not spoke about it. I've heard some of those rumors. I haven't heard any of those rumors from people that I am really close with in the NFL, Dan. That's where I would go with that. And the other thing, too, like, I mean, come on, the jets want to cause those problems and now have people talking about Jon Gruden and the issues that go along with that. There's a lot of good candidates out there right now. If I'm the New York Jets, I am calling Mike Vrabel. Mike Vrabel. The Giants or the jets, if the Giants job comes open is where I start. Mike Vrabel's made for New York. He's Bill Parcell's junior And he will get that organization back on track. That would be my number one guy. Yeah. I just wonder. I had Albert Breer on last hour and we were speculating, like, what is the best opening or potential opening. I know Chicago is not open. I still just love that possibility because of that quarterback. And I think you have some pieces in place there. They should be better now. You're playing in the toughest division. And I don't know what's happened to Trevor Lawrence. You could speak to that better than I can from a quarterbacking perspective. I mean, I don't know if he just lost confidence. Like, where is he? Is he a franchise quarterback? Is he a top 10 quarterback? He is, you know, I would say right now probably not. No, he's not a top 10 quarterback. He's not bad. He's on the outside looking in. But a guy that, like, has the talent and potential to be there. We've seen moments of it. That's where, like, you're not going to. I'm not going to give up on Trevor Lawrence. You know, we can't forget he's been a part of some bad situations. We can't forget two years ago he brought a team back from 27 nothing in a wild card game and then had the Chiefs on the ropes in the AFC divisional game. So he's shown us extended periods of time now. Yeah, there's other things there that are not great supporting him. And he has definitely gotten to some bad habits. There's no doubt about that. Dan, you're right about that. Chicago is the prettier job. To me, Chicago's got a lot of young talent. And that quarterback, I know it's been a little all over the place, but he does things that make my eyes pop out of my head. Times where I'm like, oh, my gosh, that throw, that move, that run was insanity in the membranity. That would be the job I'd want. And if I was Ben Johnson, I'd be looking at Chicago hard. He's Chris Sims, Pro Football Talk Live co host and contributor to Football Night in America. Give me the scenario how Saquon can win the mvp. Well, he does what he did the other night, like three more times. Is that good enough for you? I mean, he's a freak show. This is why football so brutal. Saquon Barkley is a first ballot hall of Famer type talent, and he's been on a crap team his whole career and he's never gotten to show what he can really do. And now he's with a team that can show, can show us all. And he's special. He continues to do that. He flirts with 2000. Right. The Eagles are the number one seed. Lamar is the guy right now to me. But Saquon and Josh Allen are not far behind. Yeah, I've been on the Josh Allen bandwagon for a while. I just. And it almost feels like there's less pressure on him. Yeah. Because, oh, they don't have Stefan Diggs. They had all the injuries, defense, you know, and, and. But he has played really, really well. It's just his game. His season comes down to what happens against Kansas City. Lamar's season comes down to what happens against Kansas City. And I did bring this up earlier. Who has more pressure on them this year? If I said Patrick Mahomes three peat, Kyle Shanahan winning a Super bowl or Lamar Jackson going to a Super Bowl. Yeah, I hear you there. I think it's Lamar. I do. I mean, there's. I'm not trying to take away or take off the pressure of the other two Guys, but to me, Lamar and Josh Allen, I think those two guys have more pressure on them than anybody in football. Josh Allen, as you said at first off, is a freak show. He's one of the greatest quarterbacks we've ever seen in our lives. They team now is finally there. Like, this is different. Let me just say, when they play Kansas City next time, it's if you. I'm a betting man, I'm going to take Buffalo. I will. Buffalo is a different team than the years past. Their O line gives Kansas City issues. They got enough heat at receiver now to where? Oh, you want to play man to man, watch out. And the defense has some size. Lamar, you're right about that. I mean, of course he's got pressure there. He's got, what, two playoff wins in his career, and we're talking about one of the most talented guys ever. So I think it's those two guys that have the most pressure. They've been playing phenomenal football, that's for sure. Great to talk to you as always. Thanks for joining us. Happy Thanksgiving to you and the family. And thanks, Dan. You know, next time you stop in at your local dispensary, if you want to stop into the studio, we'd love to have you. All right, well, I'll let you know. The dispensary moved closer to me, so I don't go up that way as much anymore. So sorry about that, but happy Thanksgiving. Wait, so you're such a good customer, the dispensary move closer to you. I hope that's why they did it. They were probably like, damn, this guy spent so much money. Let's open up the store there. Does your dad go to the dispensary? No, he does not. No, he does not. He's. He makes fun of me for going to the dispensary so much. Does he understand it? He does. He does understand it. Totally. I mean, yes, he's. He's. He's, you know, my dad, so of course he understands it. Thank you, bud. All right, man. Be good. Podcast Summary: The Best of The Dan Patrick Show Release Date: November 26, 2024
Host: Dan Patrick

Title: The Best of The Dan Patrick Show
In this special episode of The Dan Patrick Show, host Dan Patrick delves into an in-depth analysis of key NFL teams as the postseason approaches. The episode features insightful discussions with prominent football analysts, including Albert Breer and Chris Sims, who provide their expert opinions on team performances, player dynamics, and potential playoff contenders.
Dan Patrick opens the conversation by examining the Baltimore Ravens' prospects for the Super Bowl.
Breer highlights the Ravens' strong regular-season performance, particularly their 8-4 record and a decisive victory over the Los Angeles Chargers (30-23), led by Derrick Henry who amassed 140 rushing yards.
Despite the positive signs, Patrick expresses skepticism about the Ravens' defense, emphasizing the importance of defensive strength in the playoffs.
The discussion shifts to the Chargers, evaluating their potential as a formidable playoff team.
Albert Breer concurs, noting that while the Chargers are a tough opponent due to their physical playstyle and strong coaching, their offensive firepower remains insufficient.
A significant portion of the episode focuses on quarterback Lamar Jackson and Aaron Rodgers, exploring their performances and the pressures they face.
Dan Patrick [28:50]:
“Lamar Jackson is under immense pressure to win another MVP and secure a Super Bowl title. If he doesn't, his legacy could be questioned despite his outstanding regular-season performances.”
Albert Breer [30:05]:
“Lamar knows he has to win a championship to validate his MVP titles. Without a Super Bowl win, all his regular-season accolades might not hold the same weight.”
Regarding Aaron Rodgers, the conversation touches on his future prospects and potential market challenges.
The episode also explores the current coaching landscape, predicting several head coaching vacancies by the season's end.
Albert Breer [40:00]:
“I estimate between seven to ten head coaching openings by the end of the season. Teams like the Jets, Saints, and Dallas Cowboys are likely candidates.”
Dan Patrick [41:15]:
“Chicago and Jacksonville present intriguing opportunities for new head coaches, especially with their current quarterback situations and team dynamics.”
Dan engages listeners with poll questions, prompting them to weigh in on recent game overreactions.
Poll Question [45:30]:
“Which is a more accurate overreaction after last night's game: 'I told you the Chargers were a fraud' or 'The Ravens are going to the Super Bowl'?”
Albert Breer [46:00]:
“I believe it's an overreaction to say the Ravens are going to the Super Bowl based solely on their recent win.”
The discussion extends to the quarterback situation with Daniel Jones and the Jets' outlook.
Dan Patrick [50:45]:
“Daniel Jones needs a stable environment to develop further. Teams like the Vikings and Ravens could provide the necessary support for his growth.”
Albert Breer [52:10]:
“The Jets are struggling with their quarterback position. If they continue down this path, we might see major changes in their coaching staff.”
As the episode wraps up, Dan Patrick and his guests reiterate the importance of team dynamics, player performance, and strategic coaching in determining the outcomes of the NFL season. The insights provided offer listeners a comprehensive understanding of the current state of key teams and players, setting the stage for an exciting postseason.
Albert Breer [15:30]:
“I think they're a Super Bowl contender, and it feels like we're top heavy.”
Dan Patrick [16:45]:
“Baltimore has struggled on defense.”
Albert Breer [22:15]:
“They're a playoff team that can win a game if they get in there.”
Dan Patrick [28:50]:
“Lamar Jackson is under immense pressure to win another MVP.”
Albert Breer [35:20]:
“The market for Aaron Rodgers next season will be narrow.”
Albert Breer [46:00]:
“It's an overreaction to say the Ravens are going to the Super Bowl based solely on their recent win.”
