This is an I Heart Podcast There's a myth A lot of us grow up believing that hair loss is just a part of life. It happens, it runs in the family and once it starts, there's no stopping it. But here's the truth. That's outdated thinking. Scientific understanding of hair loss has advanced in recent years. Today we have a deeper knowledge of underlying causes and we've developed science backed solutions that are both effective and safe. And that's at the very root of Happy Head. Dermatologists led innovation offering stronger FDA approved ingredients that work. But what really sets Happy Head apart is how personalized it is. They don't do one size fits all fixes. You fill out a comprehensive consultation and their board certified dermatologists assign a formula specifically for your hair loss pattern, goals and lifestyle. And whether you're early in your journey or more advanced, Happy Head offers targeted options that actually work. Topical treatments, oral capsules, or potent dual action bundles, all delivered directly to you, discreetly and freshly compounded. In the US most people start seeing results in three to six months. But the real magic? It's sustainable. This isn't just about growing hair, it's about keeping it long term. So no, hair loss isn't inevitable anymore. Visit happyhead.com and find out what's possible when science, expertise and personalization come together. Hair happiness starts here. I know a lot of cops. They get asked all the time, have you ever had to shoot your gun? Sometimes the answer is yes. But there's a company dedicated to a future where the answer will always be no. We're going to be talking about that perfet on the ones and twos. Good morning. Good to see. See you, buddy. Hi. But we got a list, Rich, about the All Star game. Pretty pumped to be the only show voted into the All Stars, you know. Thanks, Fox Sports by our co workers. Number nine. Yeah, number nine from our colleagues, but number one from the fans. And we appreciate that. But I'm excited to be in Atlanta, but there's a whole list of superstars that are going to be there and we're hoping to get some great interviews. So definitely check that out on the was it 14th, 15th and 16th of this month. Happy Trace Day, Julio, everybody. We're getting there. It's going to be a fun weekend. And it starts right now. Before we get into Clayton Kershaw and such a tense moment last night, we're going to talk some NFL today. There's an underrated quarterback that needs his props. Plus, it is Fourth of July weekend and we're going to talk about some of those great blockbuster movies over the years that you love. Like, this is like a big movie weekend. It's also a big weekend for drinking and eating sparklers, man. You got your sparklers ready? Yeah. You know how people had. If you don't have your sparklers on standby, you Failed, bro. That always has to bust out the sparklers and the bank snaps. Do you know you just added something to my list after work today? You gotta get sparklers. I mean, that's the bare minimum. But did you know that every year, 15,000 visits to the emergency room. Firework injuries. So don't be the ass clown that drinks one too many cervezas. Bunch of guys named Terry in wheelchairs. Back it up, Terry. Back it up, Terry. Put it in reverse. Yeah. Keep your fingers intact and we'll talk more about it as the day goes on. I love backing up Terry, but I wanted to start the show with just a quick hypothetical that I just witnessed at the coffee shop on the way in. And then we're gonna get to Kershaw, but I gotta kind of finesse my way into the show today. Let's wake it up. So go to pick up our coffee, and there's an old biddy in front of me. Oh, thank you, by the way. Oh, no problem. Appreciate it. There's an old biddy in front of me. Her name was probably, like, Agnes or something. She's up at 5am West coast time. Who's up at 5? Unless you're working early. Old people love to get a start of the day, huh? No offense to our buddy Spot, who's on the videos, fox Sports Radio's YouTube page. Streaming live as we speak. Streaming live. Good morning. And of course, everything at Fox Sports Radio and at Covino and Rich. But his mom had a classic old lady name like Phyllis. Oh, the woman in front of me, Phil. Phyllis. My mom's name is Hortensia, so you can go with that if you want. Vanilla latte for Phyllis. And she's like, oh, sweetheart, is that sugar free for my diabetes? And they're like, oh, sorry, ma'. Am. And they went to take the coffee, and she goes, what are you gonna do with that? And they were gonna dump it. Yeah. And she goes, I'll give it to my husband. He don't care about the diabetes. So the woman gave a look like. Okay, was her name Agnes Brimley any relation to Wilford or. No. So, Mrs. Brimley, I gotta ask. When a bartender gets your cocktail wrong or a barista gets your coffee wrong and it's their fault, should they just tell you like, yeah, here, take the other one, too. Not only that, they should make the offer, right? If you're going to tip them for doing nothing half the time. And that's nothing against the barista, because I do believe. I believe baristas and bartenders deserve tips. Yeah, but not everybody. But if people are gonna have the nerve to charge you for every little thing, they could offer the extra as well. The extra meaning their mistake that they made. Or sometimes if you're buying a smoothie, they'll make extras like, hey, give me that extra. Sometimes they'll be extra milk in the blender and dump it out. Diners got it right. You ever go to a diner, get a milkshake, and they give you, like, the. The metal cup too, because there's extra? That's. That's just customer service. Yeah. So I just want to throw it out there because my. My first instinct was let the old lady get the extra coffee. That's just proper. So your instinct is to throw it out instead of saying, hey, you can have this one too? Well, probably corporate too. Not a waste. Trouble if they don't throw it out. I don't care. Corporate or not. Waste, Wasteful, waste. No, it is wasteful. It's just. It's out of their hands. Have you ever tried to not be fat? When they give you the option of fries or a salad, you go salad, and they still accidentally drop off fries. And then you're like, no, got the salad. And then when you see them taking the fries away from you. Exactly. What are you gonna do with these fries that are now cold? I'll save them for when I feel like being fat. I'll give them to my kid. When I go through Taco Bell and they accidentally give me someone else's order or, like, double up the tacos inside, I'm not telling them about that. I'm just taking them home. You take it. You take it. But you gotta. Yeah, I think in that case, you expect them to give you the extra, not dump it out. That's ridiculous. If it's your bonehead mistake, that might be a little different. But Covino, let's say you ordered your typical Steve Covino Tito's and soda, and they give you a Tito's and Sprite. And you're like, I think you eat the Sprite. Sweet. What are they gonna dump it? You could say, ah, leave it here. Someone will drink it. Someone in my party. Here, I'll give it to somebody else. Yeah, I'll take it to go if I can. Yeah. So your little kitty cup. I just want to throw it out there. Cause I saw old Phyllis, like, with a little dilemma, like, you're gonna dump it. Especially in a world where wastefuls frowned. Especially in today's world. That's Just so careless, in my opinion. So make the best of it and let someone enjoy it. Absolutely. I think. I think Phyllis here, what's her name? Barbara. What's her name? The Agnes. Eleanor. I think the old lady in this story was absolutely right. Take it, bring it home. Don't charge the old lady. Give it to her old husband. Let him have diabetes. Can I tell you the funniest part of all the names we just mentioned? If you're a young mom or dad, those names are all coming back. And the names from our childhood, like Jennifer, Nicole, Stephanie, those are gonna be the old lady names at some point, because all those old lady names are the top little girl baby names speak for your name. Because the name speak for yourself, I should say, because the name Steve's coming back thanks to Minecraft. Steve's hot lava chicken, whatever it is. Your old guy named Steve having a moment in 2025. Steve's on a comeback. All right, now, what about the name Clayton? Oh, I'm sorry. As the announcer said last night in dramatic fashion, Clayton Edward Kershaw. I was like, all right, a bit dramatic, but hey, a very stressful, awesome moment last night in Major league baseball. The ravine rises, ready to erupt. 3k for Kershaw. Got him, Got him. Gotta let it breathe. Beautiful. You know how many vato tears were shed last night? Oh, my God. Yeah. You know how many hard ass VOs were there? Like, I'm feeling a little emotional right now. That's my guy. That's my guy. Is Fernando then Clayton Edwards. So last night, beautiful moment was cool to see his family in attendance. It was so cool. Danny, I gotta give you my first observation as a Mets fan living on the west coast watching that Dodgers moment. Props to not only the Dodgers, but major league baseball. And Camino already alluded to it. Letting the moment breathe because so many times these awesome milestones are rushed along. And I remember when the clock was first put in baseball a couple years ago, the pitch clock. Do you remember there were some players that were reunions in their hometown and they'd be like, pitch violation. Because they were so rigid about it, so anal about it. I love that last night there was no rushing. There was, hey, this is a guy that played for one team. 3,000 strikeouts, fourth to ever do that. And the reality is that it may never happen again. Because I'm thinking of the young cats, like a skiings or schoolboy, and I'm like, you think they're going to be on one team their whole career? That would be unlikely. Speaking of skiings and some of the big dogs today. It's gonna take a lot. It's gonna take a lot to get there. And that might be the last time, one of the last times that we ever see that in our lifetime, making it extra special. And there's so many layers to what we saw last night and so many things that probably ran through your brain that we're gonna touch on them all throughout the day. But the first thing that I think of, aside from man one team, 18 plus years, and just do the math based on how guys go, what, five or six, usually. Now, you'd have to. I know this is simple Math, but for 15 years, you'd have to average 200 strikeouts and 200 strikeouts. Not. Not what it was in the 80s or 90s when we were growing up, because, you know, guys were throwing 3, 350 strikeouts back in the day. The Nolan Ryan's of the world. But now the league leader every year is in the 200. So you'd have to average 200 strikeouts for 15 seasons. So 3,000 strikeouts is becoming increasingly difficult. My first question, based on history being made in that moment, was, did he have to do it there? Which made it even more intensified, more amazing, more exciting, because Dave Roberts had said that he was going to manage differently, unconventionally, because fans were there just for that moment. Just for that moment. And it was a big moment. It was a game at home. Situations were perfect. It was all lined up. But man, Kershaw was pushing him to the limit. Approaching 100 pitches. You don't want to extend the guy. He hadn't done it in years. Was he going at again? I think absolutely not. So did he have to do it in that moment? And does everybody know the name of the guy he struck out? No, because we're all wrapped up in the man. You see what happened to Muncie, but man, Kershaw and Freeman. Whoa, Kershaw, dude. Kershaw struck out. Vinny Capra, Vinnie Capra. Gotta go. Got him looking. Yeah. Which was Beautiful for his 3,000th career strikeout in the sixth inning yesterday. The 20th pitcher in MLB history to reach 3,000 strikeouts and again the fourth to do it all on one team. But question one, did he have to do it there? Do you think he would have went out one more time? Being that the whole crowd was there? He needed just one more. He got it. The last out in the inning to prove how rare it is, by the way. Yeah. Over the last 10 years in major League Baseball, Chris Sale did it twice and Your boy Garrett Cole did it one time, meaning hit 300 strikeouts. So it is like what he's done is, you know, more remarkable when you think of it that way. To answer your question, number one, I almost felt bad because the last thing I said on our show yesterday here on Fox Sports Radio, I said, yo, Danny, would it be funny if he was stuck at two strikeouts? And I told you, don't you dare put that out there in the universe. And Danny hits me up and goes, turn on the Dodgers game, you idiot. He stuck at two strikeouts. And all I kept thinking was Dave Roberts, who is a World Series champion as a player and a manager, World Series hero at the Red Sox. And here's a guy who gets criticized a lot for being such a big winner. He is put in such a scenario here where I'm thinking he can't pull him, no matter what. That crowd had to. Absolutely 50,000 people. There are so many. How much could you possibly extend him in that moment? I think you had to keep going. You really did. It feels the longer you do that, it starts feeling forced. Yeah, but the fans were there. I mean, I'm not a Dodgers fan, but I'm a baseball fan. I'm a fan of greatness. And everybody wants to see this happen. I had the nervous farts watching. I'm like, he's got to get it now or it's not happening tonight. It doesn't. Ruins the moment. It doesn't matter now. I don't think he was going out again. It doesn't matter now because it happened. But I was actually talking to my wife and my mother in law's in town for the, for the holiday, watching the kids. I was saying, I was describing this scenario to them. I'm like, all right, so he's at home, 50,000 people while it's happening. And I said, what if he doesn't do it? My wife's like, well, would they sit him until they were back at Dodger Stadium? And I go, I wonder if they would have. Like, I don't think so. But hold on, think about this. You have skipped a start just to get him back at the stadium, man. I don't think so, do you? That's too contrived. They wouldn't have done that. I've never really seen it that forced before. It's very special, I agree. But imagine you're a fan and you're there on a weeknight to watch this and you're so close, like, because you want to be part of it too. I know that's a selfish way to think. It's Kershaw's moment, but you want to be able to be that Dodger fan to say, I was there for that. But you're one strike got away and you weren't. So you're like, as a fan, you want it for him, you want it for you. You want it for the bragging right to be part of history. It's all these things. He had to do it. Which made it more incredible and more amazing. Like that he actually pulled it off. No. No offense to our friends and affiliate up in Millie Walke, but do you think his next star, which is likely. I'm looking at the schedule in Milwaukee against the Brewers. Is that where he wanted to do it? I mean, I love. That's a great ballpark, great fan base, but he had to do it last night. I don't care if he hit 100 pitches. Dave Roberts had a call like the all time, like old school audible. Like, yo, kid, you want to go out there, keep going. You're not to pull. Clayton Kershaw stuck on two strikeouts. I think he was already pushing it at that point. He already extended him an inning. Yeah, already overextended, dude, his kid was had a dad 3000 strikeout shirt on standby. It had to be done then, and he did it. And again, something I'll touch on later on also makes you show how difficult a strikeout is when you need one. Right? Because I was like, dude, come on. Because it could be a pop up, could be a grab. It could be anything. Yeah, right? Or he just keeps getting hit because you could see they started making contact, too, against him. Was the first time I heard the Dodger crowd ever boo when somebody was put out from a grounder. Yeah, that's not the way we want to go. I know, but that was wild, man, to state the obvious. And I mean that because I really want you to think about it. Think about the difference between doing it in front of 50,000 of your hometown fans, where it means so much, not only to you in the city, but to every fan there, versus doing it in Milwaukee, where no one really cares. They don't deserve that moment. 50,000 people wanted to be able to from now on, say, I was there. When Kershaw hit 3,000, he gave a gift to 50,000 fans. I mean, the electricity, the curtain call. Waving and blowing kisses at his kids and family. Like you said, vato tears were shed. Fox vato tears were shed. It was a great moment. Vatos in LA only have 96 teardrops. I heard that. And they wasted a bunch of them last night. Yo. Is it safe to say my guy. Is it, that's my guy. Is it safe to say that baseball really handled it perfectly? Let me go back to that because I am okay with hey, guy hits 50,000 yards in the NFL, they stop the game. I don't know. Peyton Manning gets to hold up the ball and do I. I'm okay with those moments. I'm okay with the Ricky, rest in peace steals his base. They take a moment so he can hold up the bag. I don't think any player is objecting to that. Right. You think there's anyone on the, you think there's anyone that's like let's move this along. That's what the game's about. These are special moments. These are milestones. These aren't things you see every day. So yeah, they did the right thing by letting it breathe, let the fans enjoy it. That's why they go to the games. And you've watched this guy's whole career pan out from he was a young man to an older man as a single guy to a married guy with kids, you know, as a young spry, handsome looking dude to like a guy who's sort of hobbling out there trying to throw 37 year old, a feared young sight young award winner to a like you're right, a hobbling, crafty veteran who is now, you know, kept, kept the 0 in the L column thanks to Freddie Save that. Who made that a perfect night for the Dodgers fans. Right? Perfect night. It's kind of gross that the Dodgers had such a perfect night which is why it's going to be perfect when the Mets beat him in seven in the playoffs. We'll see about that. So we'll take your observations at 8, 7 7. 99 and again, there's several layers to the story. We're going to touch on it throughout the show, throughout the day. Cavino, enriching for Dan Patrick, but Danny G. Any other final observations you want to touch on? Like what were you doing in that moment? Did you shed a vato tear maybe? These are all questions that need to be answered. I mean Clay Kershaw has been. Clayton has been one of the favorite players of Dodger fans for years now. So. And of course to see him come back from a couple of big time injuries and still be with the team and I think it's Rich who every time the Dodgers give him a one year contract, Rich is like, or maybe you cove that's the best deal in baseball because he wanted. He got the hometown discount. He stayed. And I thought it was always the best move. Honestly, it was beautiful. You mentioned what a moment for everybody in attendance. How about all the families and Dodger fans across the country? And I'm sorry if you're a Dodger hater. I get that too, but because Cove, I'm about to bring up a bad memory for you. The World Series against your Yankees. That was the last time. My family was all gathered together in the living room watching a Dodgers game closely last night. The whole family just glued to every moment of that game on the tv. And it was emotional. As you know, lifelong Dodger fans, you don't get moments like that too often. You got to step out of the seat, right. Like you got. You're standing up, I would imagine at some point. I stood up just here in the replay just now. So amazing. I thought the inning before when he struck out the less battery also was pretty, you know, like, you saw he was walking up the mound and everyone. And then. We haven't even really touched on. I know it was against the White Sox. I know. Yeah. But we haven't touched on the fact that Freddie Freeman waits to rope one there for the walk off. So what a night. And it has just been a beautiful season so far for the Dodgers. How do you think the Capra family feels today? Oh, Vinnie, you had to be the guy. Way to disrespect the family name. You know, I've always. You and I have joked about. But listen again, Vinnie Capra is the guy that struck out. There's dumb misconceptions in sports. Like we're saying how he wanted to do it at home. You know, we say sometimes, does a team want to lose on the road so they could clinch at home? No one wants to lose. And I get it. In sports, you want to get the win when you can, but we see it in sports all the time. When you win a championship on the road, it's just not the same. And if he would have done that on the road, oh, it wouldn't have been the same. Right. It would have been a waste. I. I think what made me emotional was watching his kids react to it. Cause now that I'm a new dad for the first time, I have a little one of my own. And I hope that someday he gets to watch, you know, me helping your show blow up and do big things. Yeah. Seeing your dad accomplish something like that, that is so cool. Danny G. Did you pick up your overly sized little boy and point at the TV and called him. And he was too busy running around with not one but two wiffle ball bats. And he was hitting all of us in our kneecaps with the baseball bats. That's what he was doing. Bam. Running around in his diaper. I did notice one thing that I was like, oh, that's who you went with, huh kid? One of his kids was wearing that weak ass city connect jersey you guys have. Really? Yeah. And I remember being like, okay, I thought that was cool. Hey, kids will wear whatever. But anyway, your observations, we'll go through all of it, get you involved. It's what we do. The most inclusive show on radio Covino and Rich in for the great Dan Patrick. So it's a pleasure to be here. And it's an extended Dan Patrick Hatrick. Meaning we're on today, we're off tomorrow for the holiday. Yeah, you got to eat some hot dogs. Yeah, I got hot dogs to eat. Me and Joey Chestnut. And then on Monday and Tuesday we'll also be here. Joey Chestnut was on our show couple weeks ago, name dropper talking about how tomorrow morning he returns to the hot dog eating contest at Nathan's and he said he's going to try to put back 80 hot dogs. And I just read a stat that every fourth of July. I mean, I know we're going to be doing our grill and my wife's trying to figure out what we're going to do on the green egg. Going to, you know, do something. You got a green egg. What are you bragging about? We're going to start smoking some meats. I think today for tomorrow, I am going to brag about it. It's pretty cool. Some people like Traegers, some people like green eggs. But hey, everyone loves grilling. In fact, the number one thing when surveyed Americans say what reminds him of summer, the smell of the grill. But do you think that Joey Chestnut is really going to put back 80? Number one, that would be a record. And number two, can you believe Americans eat 150 million hot dogs every Fourth of July? That's 30 minutes off your life every. No, no, Chestnut debunked that. When you talk to him, he said it was minutes. Like a minute. Yeah, that's what he said. A couple minutes. That's what he said. I've read. Still adds up to a few years for him. What do you put on your dog, by the way? I have a NFL quarterback thing I want to talk about. But real quick, what do you put on your dog? Ketchup and mustard? Yeah, a little both. I'm okay with that. Little relish. Keep it simple. Nah, I don't relish to relish. Do you like those red onions that they do on the New York City hot dog stands? I'm good with that if you have it. But yeah. Mustard, ketchup. Good for me. All right, well, hey, we're getting closer and closer to the NFL season. And listen, baseball All Star break, that's on my mind. But hey, in a month from now it's football until the end of the year, which is wild, right? We're already back in it. And a lot of networks, a lot of publications, a lot of streamers are putting out their list of top 10 NFL quarterbacks. And the one thing I realize is that it seems to be a common sentiment that the top four quarterbacks are agreed upon. It's like, it's like the, it's like the non spoken agreement that we all have core four. Yeah, I guess you would say there is a core four. Now I think everyone's order is different, but safe to say that 90% of people and analysts and fans are saying that. Well, who was it that put out that list? It was Yahoo. Right. Who put out that list of the top sports writers? They left off Jalen Hurst. Well, I'm going to get to all. Yeah, but the top four as of right now, that's. It's very hard to argue in any particular order because I think everyone's going to put them in a different order. Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow. I think that is because you're very safe to say top four. And what I find to be funny, the commonality all in the afc. The AFC right now is having a moment. It's like the, the Brady, Peyton Manning. I'm not going to put Philip Rivers in maybe, but there was a time where the, a lot of the elite quarterbacks were in the afc and hey, here we are, Philip Rivers in there. Yeah, I know he didn't win it a lot, but like those stats he put up, that's hall of fame stats, no doubt. Yeah. So Josh Allen Mahomes, Lamar Burrow right there. Now, I think the funny part is when you get from number 5 to 10, everyone's list is so all over the place. Because I think we're having a hard time really assessing and judging where we go from here. I think Justin Herbert will be on everyone's list as a top 10. Well, the problem is people. People let their personal feelings get involved in here, too, because Rich so badly wants to wedge Brock Purdy in there somewhere. But realistically, I may say he's right outside the. But I think that's why the bottom five, I think there's a realistic. Like, you really can't debate the top five, but then the bottom five is. And your feelings get involved. And on our show Live from Vegas, we were debating whether or not Baker Mayfield should be in the top 10, which a lot of us think he is. Let's agree. Let's say. Let's. Because he won a Super bowl last year and it would almost be disrespectful not to put him on. Would you say at this point Jalen Hurts has proven he's a top 10? I'd say he's number five. I think he is. Yeah. Like the physicality. You just cannot discount that. Okay, so if we're going to do. How about what he did, man, he lost the super bowl. Sat there and pouted about it and said, this isn't happening again on my clock. And he delivered. Man, that was awesome. All right, so, I mean, he won a Super Bowl. He's. He's a solid quarterback. All right, so Camino, hear me out here. How is he not on the list? The four we spoke of. Right. Jalen Hurts because he got to be respectful, and Justin Herbert because somehow, unless there's an outlier in the network, I get to some people that say no, but I think Herbert would make most people's top 10, maybe not six. But I'm going to say he's somewhere in the top 10, even though he had a stinker in the postseason last year. So that's six. I think now your final four spots are where every single person is going to have a different answer. And I said, there's one quarterback that I think gets so disrespected, he's on fox sports top 10 quarterback list. I just saw an FS1. But he was not on the Yahoo list. Danny G. And perfect. You're a Lions fan. Jared Goff seems to get overlooked so much, and there was a stat that Came out. Camino. Read how his stats compared to Mahomes over the last three seasons. He's better than Mahomes in every offensive category. And you'll still argue always, he's still not Mahomes. But the numbers will dictate that Jared Goff's really good. Last three seasons, golf 96 touchdowns. Patrick Mahomes, 94 touchdowns, 94 from Mahomes. So golf more touchdowns. Golf 31 interceptions. Mahomes here, 37. 37. And golf through for more yardage. Actually slightly less. Like 20 less yards. Oh, no, I'm sorry. More. 13,006. 42. 13,642. Mahomes 13,003. 61 and yeah, man, 100 and 102.7 passer rating versus 97.3 completion percentage 61% 8 to 67.3 passer rating game last year too. So yeah, all stats favorable. All those stats are favorable. Major stats for golf over Mahomes. So it's like, how do you leave if Mahomes is the guy, he's the beacon of awesome in today's game, how do you leave off golf in all these conversations And I said it off there, I'll say it again. Detroit embraces him. They love the guy. It's everybody else that sort of forgets about him or undermines his accomplishments, I guess. It's not that he's not doing it, he is doing it and they love him for it. A weird omission because statistically, yeah, seems like a great guy. He's a cool guy. He's got a beautiful wife. Like everything about Jared Goff, you know, you would. It doesn't make sense to me why he's left off. Maybe because he was set up to be the guy in LA and it didn't work out. That's one of those reasons. Yes. I think it's that and then two other things. Number one, I think most people will try to point to the Lions roster and say, well, it's all the guys around him. But like that's true of every great quarterback. Jalen Hurts has a great offensive line. Patrick Mahomes played with Tyree Kill, like, you know, just because he's got Amon Ross, St. Brown and Penne Sewell, like that's not a disqualifier. And I think the other thing is like you will see kind of those low end games from Jared Goff every now and then. What he did in the playoffs last year was not good. He did something remarkable last year. Didn't he have a five interception game and still won against the Houston Texans. Yeah, I was at Drugstore Cowboy in LA and everyone went nuts because like, yeah, it's. He had five interceptions but the second half he was on fire. So yeah, I'm going to put not at number seven, but I think we got to put golf on this list. So now I think everyone in this room, we could all agree Mahomes, Jackson, Allen, Burrow, and then we just added Hurts, Herbert and Goff. That gives everyone three spots. And those three spots, you got to figure out who's going to occupy your little imaginary top 10 because then it starts getting dicey. Like, are you putting Dak Prescott in the top 10? I mean he's. Mayfield Stafford is a fantastic quarterback, but the question is going into 20, 25, he's starting to get old. He's starting to get up there. And by the way, that's what most of the lists are about. It's not about their career accomplishments, about heading into the next season. Because you're gonna, that's why Geno Smith was on that list. And you're like, well, Geno Smith, yeah, he's good. But it's because that's their thinking projection with Ashton Genty and yeah, with the Raiders there, you gotta put the youngest quarterback in that group. He proved a lot his rookie season. Jaden Daniels has to be somewhere there at the bottom of the top 10. He's on, he's on the Fox Sports list. But Jaden Daniels did not make that Yahoo list. Well, the problem is it's kind of the CJ Str. Because CJ Stroud was fantastic his rookie year. And then what happens? Sophomore slump always hits these guys. And I think people are trying to hedge a little bit on Jaden Daniels because you just don't know what he's going to be. Year to the eye test. Feels like he's built different. Yeah. Don't you, don't you tune into games where he's playing and don't you tune into those highlights, that confidence and swag that he has. He's got an aura about himself like he's a superstar already. Yeah. To me he's a must watch quarterback. Rich. So I would say he's in my bottom third here. Jaden Daniel. Daniel C.J. stroud. I picture it like a concert headlining tour, Baker Mayfield, where the top four are in big font and then the next three are in smaller font and the next three are in, you know, they're up there. But I'm with that. I think Mayfield needs to be at the bottom of the top 10 there. I want to talk about a quarterback. It's no respect. Baker Mayfield. Like, I think people are still holding Cleveland against him. He's amazing. I said this when we first brought up that Yahoo list, which was bunk as hell. And again, lists are made to be discussed. They do these things to throw it out there so that people bring it up. Like, how in the world did they leave out so and so? But I forever have that image of Baker Mayfield literally carrying players on his back and he's marching down the field really trying to win for his team. It's amazing to see how he turned his career around and I think he's easy to root for. And by the way, if you want to go based on numbers from last year, then and Jordan Love and Brock Birdie would need to be in the conversation of the top. I'm telling you. So answer me this. Of those young quarterbacks, I'm going to give you three. You tell me if you feel like one clearly stands out. All right? Jaden. Jaden Daniel, commanders. Okay. C.J. stroud, Texans. Jordan Love, Packers. Are those three guys so in a little pocket together in your mind that like, we're waiting for one of them to emerge? That was my dad reminding me and so many others who need to hear it that our trauma is not our shame to carry and that we have big, bold and beautiful lives to live after what happened to us. But before we get back to old school and 50 hits, the excitement is still in the air, L.A. still buzzing. We're live from the mean streets of LA right now. Kershaw got his 3,000th last night. But to make it more amazing. I'm trying. It's almost gross how perfect it was. Theatrical. Yeah, theatrical. It was a movie script. Freddie Freeman comes through with the walk off. He swings and it's a base hit to right Otani around third. He comes to the point. Dodgers win. Dodgers win the 15th career walk off hit for Freddy Freeman and the Dodgers come all the way back to win it 5 to 4. I told you. That's courtesy, by the way, at 570 out here in LA. I do not like the Dodgers. I'm a Mets fan. But when that song hits Randy Newman, I love la. You think it's corny. I think it's awesome. I think it sounds like something from Nake. That's why. I mean, it is in the movie Naked Gun. Yeah. Covino would rather have a Fat Joe song. Come on. I know. Leave Fat Joe out of this. He's a jinx. You'd rather have a Diddy song? Come on. No. No. I say no to free coughs. Well, now, it really was insane. Perfect ending, drama muncie goes down. Freeman comes through. He gets the strikeout when he needed it. Magical night here in Los Angeles. We've been talking about it throughout the day, but we're in the middle of something called old school when 50 hits. Because when 50 hits the clock, we love to reminisce on a Thursday when 50 hits in life feel a little old school. So we throw it back. We get you involved and we do this on our show. It's fun to bring it here on. Dan Patrick. Well, I have a. I have a thought. About maybe the most perfect movie of all time. And that's Back to the Future. Great Scott. Came out 40 years ago today. If you were a little kid, maybe you were an adult, whatever. 1985, Christopher Lloyd, Michael J. Fox, a classic. And I have a deep thought. Well, maybe not that deep, but I have a good hypothetical and it has to do with Back to the Future in a few seconds. But I did want to go over some of the best fourth of July movies and tell me if any of these stand out to you. All right. You know what I think of though? Because you went over some of them. The one that stood out the most to me, that I associated most with this holiday weekend is a movie I don't even really like that much. But like, I think of Independence Day. I mean, it's Independence Day. No, but I think of that movie because I remember what a big deal it was when it came out. Fourth of July is. I do too. And I remember it being really hot in Southern California that weekend and everybody was jam packed in all the theaters, all sold out in that ac watching that movie. Yeah. And my point is, it's not my favorite of the movies, but it's the one that stands out to me that I associate the most. Not because of the title, just because of the hype that was around it at the time. Welcome to Earth. Listen, Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum, Randy Quaid. It was a great movie. And I think it's. I think it's rare because you know how every Christmas you gotta watch Elf, you gotta watch It's a Wonderful Life. Love. Actually all your favorite Christmas movies. Love. Actually, not on my list. But anyway, that's an argument for December. That's cause you have bad taste. I think it's the only other time besides when you watch Hubie. Halloween. Every Halloween. Oh, the sandman. Halloween is upon us. Other than that, I think it's interesting that every Fourth of July there's an instinct to be like, yo, you got to put that on, man. Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum. Like I said, Randy Quaid. It's a great cast. It's a great movie. I think it's. And it's tough because I'm not a Will Smith guy. Dude. The actor or the Dodger? Unless you are. How dare you. Unless you're watching Joey Chestnut. Have some hot dogs. I think no one would frown upon it if while you were having your cookout, when you walked, walked in the kitchen to get a refill, if the TV was playing Independence Day in the background, it's a great movie. I think it might be, other than Back to the Future, maybe your best Fourth of July opening. And we're going to go to your phone calls at 877-99-FOX. The blockbusters that come to mind, Fourth of July weekend blockbusters. We have a whole list of ones that came out, the ones you associate with this holiday, the ones you're watching. And it's going to be a huge movie weekend between Jurassic World and F1, too. A lot of people are going to the theaters this weekend. So what comes to mind? For you, Tony in Oregon, what's up, man? And for Dan Patrick, what's up? Hey, I listen to you guys in the afternoon. I'll listen to you in the morning. Oh, thanks, man. Thank you, buddy. Absolutely. So you guys mentioned T2. That was a favorite of mine. But as far as like kind of my wheelhouse was growing up, I was like 18, 8 years old. ET was released. Can I drop you a little fun fact about that real quick? Quick. Terminator 2. You guys remember the actor Robert Patrick? He was also in the Sopranos. He's the cop, right? His brother. A lot of people don't know this and you're not going to care unless you're a rock fan, but his brother is Richard Patrick, formerly of Nine Inch Nails, lead singer of Filter, the band Filter. That's his brother. They're brothers. I thought you were going to say he was Dan Patrick's brother. Fun fact. Fun fact. Dan Patrick's his cousin. No, no. Robert Patrick is brothers with Richard Patrick, musician. And then Tony, you said you had another movie on this date. Oh, yeah. ET was released in, what, 82. I was 8 years old. And that's just a huge, huge hit, obviously. And that does remind people of the summer for sure. Dude, if that came out on Fourth of July weekend. And I was, I, I went to the theater as a little boy. Not everything. That's the biggest. Not everything is going to be right on the 4th of July. But that was a mid June release, so that counts if you're talking movies that you saw. And again, the 4th of July is so synonymous with like, it's summer, right? Summer. Let me hit you up with a couple others because I want to know if you think there's something that could top Independence Day and Back to the Future because It's so hard. Ets ma. I have a theory on that. E.T. is so magical that the only reason you'll see it that much is because it's too. People don't want to Watch. Because it's too emotional. It's too much. I got to watch with my kids. My kids have never seen E.T. you're going to cry just like Dodgers fans did last night. I'm going to give you one that. I know it's not in your wheelhouse, but a lot of people are going to say, oh, yeah, 1986. Top Gun. I knew you didn't like this. I was a bigger fan of the Nintendo game Top Gun. No. Okay, fine. I had it on now. It was. People love that it was mentioned. I mean, listen, very rarely is the sequel significantly better than the original. But I think Terminator 2, like you said, T2 was enormous. I think most people saw T2 and then went back to watch the original Terminator. Terminator 2 was far more popular than the original. Another one of those cases of James Cameron coming in and taking, you know, a series that like. I mean, it's same thing with Alien to Aliens. Like, you know, first one's great, but here comes James Cameron and he makes this amazing summer blockbuster out of it. And you had Guns N Roses on the soundtrack. You could be mine, you know, Added to that, the fun of the movie, for sure. Now I got one that's very Fourth of July. I got one. Dare I say patriotic? What about Mel Gibson, the Patriot? One of the most underrated movies. Yo, who's the. Who plays the bad guy gang? Jason Isaacs. Yeah. My goodness. The biggest douche bad guy ever when he kills Gibson's son in the movie. I thought Shooter McGavin was the shooter. Worst bad guy. He is a good. I thought he was the worst bad guy. No, but these are all great ones, man. But is there an answer for you? Is there one that is the. Is it Back to the Future? Because not Only is it 4th of July weekend, it's the 40th anniversary of the release of one of the greatest movies of our lifetime. I mean, there's a lot of big blockbusters like. Like the Spider Mans of the World and I know Ant man and, you know, they're. There's summer releases that do big in the theater. But I'm saying when you think summer, 4th of July, blockbuster, it's gonna be hard to say. Every time you say Blockbuster, I think of Blockbuster Video. And that smell of the plastic containers, maybe with popcorn. Probably renting barbed wire. Yeah. In the dirty carpet. Yeah. By the way, they say that old Blockbuster videos all smelled the same. And it was a combination of three things. It was like a smell of, like, candy or popcorn. Like that. Something like that mixed with the dirty carpets from people's wet shoes and sour jacks and plastic covers. And the plastic covers. It also smell like horny teenagers. Because that's what we were doing, right? We were going to buy movies to pretend to watch. Yeah. Hey, honey, let's go on date night. Yeah. That was foreplay. Blockbuster was foreplay. It really was. Let's go to Washington State, say what's up to Josh. You're on with Kavino and Rich in for Dan Patrick. What's up, Josh? How's it going? What's up, man? Hey. So I remember, for me, it's Independence Day, which is what you guys are saying. My birthday is July 7th. I remember I turned 10 years old, like, three days later. It was the first movie my mom and dad let me go see by myself. And it was just, like, in awe, you know? So the whole day was an event for me going by myself, buying my own concession back when you, you know, awesome. You know, at 10 years old, you know. 10, huh? Yeah. Pretty good Cove. I know that you're not a. You're not a big Will Smith fan. Like, you said, the, the baseball catcher or the actor at smacking Chris Rock in public. I mean, you act like I'm the only guy that holds this resentment. How is he even, like, a little bit likable after that? I just think that that movie is so perfect. Oh, no, I, I, like I said, I reluctantly have to admit. Admit it's the one I associate with coming out on this weekend. It's like, it is the Elf to Christmas. It is the Hubie Halloween to Halloween. It's. It's what you have to have on or you're going to leave on. When it's on this weekend, Independence Day. I got to ask everyone in this room. And, you know, you, Spot and I have been friends for decades now. We've known each other since we're 20 years old. I saw, and this is like a weird memory of mine, I saw Independence Day 2, but I don't know where and with who, because I remember, I was like, wait a second. One came out and I'm like, wait, I saw it. Remember, it was probably some girl you weren't supposed to admit you were with. So you sure you want to admit it here on the radio? Moving on? No, but I wish it was me that you saw it with. You mean like the recent one? Within the last few years, right? Yeah. And I, I, I feel like I went to maybe a screening. I wonder if I was supposed to be my Alibi Was it? It wasn't me, I'll tell you that much. But, Rich, it was great. I remember, but independent. We all had fun. I don't know who it was, but we went for Chipotle after. I didn't even know there was a second one. Hey, who's in the second one? Send you dingleberries. All the same people. It was the same people. Will Smith was not Stinkeroo Will Smith. No, but he sat at a. That's like Major League without Wesley Snipes. Yeah, But Major League 2 was still pretty fun. No, it wasn't. Independence Day 2 had Jeff Goldblum. It had. Who was the president again? I think he's since passed away. Right. Who was the president spot on Independence Day? Bill Pullman. Pullman? He's alive. Yeah. He's not alive. Okay, my bad. He's kicking you to go Paxton. Okay, Bill. I mean, you're thinking of Chet from Weird Science. Yeah, so? So, yeah, the second one came out, and I just remember saying, yeah, I watched it, but with who? All right, let's go to your phone calls. Where do you want to start? Kansas City. Let's go get some burn ends on the grill. Dan. What's up, buddy? Hey, what's going on, guys? Hey. I actually worked at the movie theater at this time. Surprised nobody said Armageddon. Armageddon. Armageddon is a great movie. And I know that we recently, you know, had the anniversary, so it was a late June movie, so we'll call it a Fourth of July. Armageddon was huge, man. Again, this weekend on a jet plane. Rest in peace, Michael Clark. Duncan. This weekend is usually an excuse to go see a good movie, kick off the summer. So, yeah, if it came out in June, it's still. That would be F1, probably. Yeah. You know, this weekend, for a lot of people came out a few weeks ago, but. But it's. Yeah, it's. We're gonna use it as an excuse to go to the theater. You can't release all the summer movies on 4th of July. I know. Exactly. Has to be spaced out a little bit. Jason, you're on in Phoenix. What's up, buddy boy? What's going on, guys? Hey. First and foremost, you guys kick ass when you stand in for DP. Thanks, man. Summer of 97, I want to say I'm working at a mall in Phoenix, and it's a sunglass store. Men in Black comes out, and instantly after the movie, people start coming into the store and buying sunglasses. Can I guess. Was it the sunglass Hut. It was. It was Pacific Eyes and Teas. It was before. It was even smaller. Before Sunglass Hut. I don't know about your guys's age, so. Yeah, it's one of my first gigs after high school. That's funny. Yeah. Men in Men in Black. Will Smith ran away with summer blockbusters for like three, four years. Tree. Yo, Kavino, Great call. You know, obviously not a big Will Smith fan. You. You've heard him say it. But I like the Ray Bans. This was not a big movie. I mean, it was a big movie, but I don't remember loving it. Remember Hancock was a big movie for him. That sort of didn't work out. They wanted the one about her be. No, no, no, Sean. I don't know if I saw that one. I'm not sure if I saw it where. He's a superhero. Well, he's a. A sloppy superhero. Cameron in Indiana. What's up, man? Kavino. Rich. Hey, guys. So I love this show but you know, first off, in honor of 4th of July, I'll tell you, I moved into a new house about two years ago and yesterday was the first time I grilled in two years. But as far as movies go, give me Avatar series and Hunger Games. If I want to get my family around the tv, that's the go to Avatar. Was that a summer release? It was, yeah. You know, that movie baffles me because I went to see it and I enjoyed it and it was very like Romeo and Juliet. Right? Spotty. Can you check on that? For some reason I thought the first big Avatar movie was December. Yeah, December. Yeah, I saw it in theaters. But what I find crazy about it is it's such a huge brand and people made such a big deal about it because it's the long awaited movie. All these effects and high budgets and everything. You ever see the Avatar Land in Disney World? World? It's insane. But I don't know anybody that really loves that movie. I've never really met anyone's like, dude, huge Avatar. It was like. But it's so massive. Highest grossing, right? No, it's crazy. Makes the. Yeah. Makes not no sense because it doesn't add up. I'm like, who's. Who loves this? Rob in Florida. What's up, buddy? Hey. First off, shout out to Bill Paulman who graduated from the same school I did SUNY Oneonta. Look at that. Star wars or as they called when I was younger. Stoney onto everyone. Yeah, it lived up to the reputation, no doubt. So let me ask you about back to the future. Do you think it would have been the classic it has become if the original leads were in the movie? And do you know what they are? I think that often. Eric Stoltz. Eric Stoltz. You know, it's interesting. Eric Stoltz from Mask and some Kind of Wonderful. Yeah. It would never have been the same. And that's the reason they got rid of the dude. He wasn't delivering the comedy. I've seen the edits. He wasn't delivering the comedy chops that Michael J. Fox just perfected. I mean, you could find all these things on YouTube, but they'll have the cuts of, you know, when they're in the diner and Biff comes in and Michael J. Fox is there and he just looks, like, baffled that, oh, my God, there's his dad and there's Biff. Eric Stoltz wasn't selling it to me. Like there was just something missing, serious of an actor, a great actor. Nothing against him, but just wasn't the right role for him. And you needed Alex P. Keaton to step in there and do his thing. Thing, Doc, you're telling me you built a time machine out of a DeLorean? Not bad, Marty. Their chemistry was like next level. Most of that movie completed with Stalts. And they pulled the last minute audible. Yeah. And it was the right move. And Rob was saying that Elizabeth Shoe was originally going to be the girlfriend, but she was taller than Michael J. Fox. So that's why they went with the actress. They did. I had never heard that part of it. No. Elizabeth Shue, huh? Elizabeth Shue was so 80s hot. I was a big fan of adventures and babysitting with her. I mean, she was great. And Karate Kid.
