It happened yesterday. We'll talk about that. The ramifications for the Steelers and they're over under total and super bowl odds. Dan Patrick
You're not going to branch out. No. Nah. You're just so, you know, there's a bit of a rumbling in the back room that you're a bit of a oyster snob. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah. No, I freely openly admit. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Absolutely. Yes.
Seaton
But you're not.
Dan Patrick
You will eat other oysters, right? I will. But I would prefer my Pei. Prince Edward island, you know, and I do love the Kumamoto and the Miyagi, just in case, you know, a little bit smaller, not as briny.

Heck yeah, dude.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. All right, so that's Meat Friday here. We'll have a poll question, play of the day, stat of the day, all of that forthcoming if you didn't stay up to watch or listen. This is how it ended last night in Oklahoma City. Hilda Alexander spins, pulls up, jumper off the mark, won't go. Rebound.
Seaton
N Pacers with a chance to win it.
Dan Patrick
Halton looking. Halberton driving, pulls off, jump shot.
Marvin
And go. It's gone with 3.
Dan Patrick
10 of a second remaining.
Seaton
Timeout.
Dan Patrick
OkC. Tyrese Halberton does it again. Okay, Oklahoma City is winning this. They should have been up by 30. They were blowing out Indiana. Indiana could not have played worse. And it's one of those situations where I'm not saying that they didn't, that they lost the game during the first three quarters because they didn't put Indiana away. They could have won the game in the first three quarters, if you follow my logic here, that they would have been up by an insurmountable amount. Whereas with Indiana, if they're down 15. Okay, business as usual. I've said this before. Teams that win by a large margin, I'm always very leery of them when they get into a one possession game. Now you're winning by 13 points per game. And I always go back to the UNLV running rebels in the early 90s. They're blowing everybody out. And I wondered, and I said this, I was working with Bob Leon, SportsCenter. What happens when they get into a one possession game? If they do. They got into a one possession game against Duke. They had problems with the inbounds pass, the play that was set up. And Duke goes on to win the National Title. I'm not saying Indiana is going to win just because they won last night. A lot of times we overreact to game one. I go back to Allen Iverson getting 48 against the Lakers in game one and winning in LA and everybody was like, oh, my goodness. I go, no, no, easy here. The 76ers aren't good. And the Lakers ended up winning, dominating. And OKC is a better team, like statistically a better team. But what happened? There's no urgency last night and give credit to Indiana and give credit to Rick Carlisle, because there has to be a calming influence in that huddle. Has to be. And that's Rick Carlisle. Not too high, not too low. The bench, OB toppin, who played terribly and then had five three pointers. But it's don't panic. And they didn't panic. And even on the last possession. Now I'm screaming, waking up everybody in the house, and I'm going with Halliburton getting the ball and I'm like, don't let him go right. Don't make him pass it. Make him. Don't let him go right. Now I'm. I picked Indiana to win the series. I'm just doing this from a basketball perspective of don't let the best guy beat you. Even though he played horribly, Tyrese Halberton has become one of the great clutch shooters in NBA postseason history. The numbers back that up. They let him go, right. Caruso doesn't double. He falls back on Pascal Siakam and Halberton raises up and then seals it. You let him go right, you don't double him. And, and look, Pascal Siakam could have hit the game winning shot as well. I would have been okay with that. I cannot let the guy who has done this over and over and over and over drives me crazy. And it just felt like everybody was sort of floating up at the other end of the floor. Here's Halliburton, got the ball and floating, floating, floating, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick. And I go, oh, my goodness, he's going to get a jumper. You don't send anybody at him. Make him pass the ball to somebody else. Halliburton has four game tying or go ahead field goals in the final five seconds of the fourth quarter or overtime this postseason. Brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of the program. Here is Halliburton on that game winning.
Marvin
Sean, this game, if you look at all the numbers, it's not the recipe to win. We can't turn the ball over that much. We got to do a better job of being in gaps, got to do a better job of rebounding, got to do a better job all over the floor. But come May and June, it doesn't matter how you get them, just get them, you know, so we'll take it. You know, we'll enjoy this one tonight. But understand, we got another game coming up in this tough building, and we got to be prepared for that.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, they played horribly. And I, I guess if you're Rick Carlisle, you're like, okay, we can't play this bad, can we, again. Well, you can't play this badly again and win again, I'm gonna guess. But okc, you're just kind of floating. Hey, Shay Gil, they, it felt like they were standing around watching Shea Gilgis, like, hey, man, he's putting up a lot of points here. These guys are committing turnovers. They're not any good. Then all of a sudden it's like, all right, chip away, chip away, chip away, chip away. Now all of a sudden, that next possession is really important. And Shay Gil just got the shot that he wanted. He misses the shot and then transition defense. I, I, I just can't, for the life of me can't understand why you let Tyrese Halberton have a shot. Yes, Marvin. Also, the Pacers had so many turnovers. Yeah. And the Thunder didn't take advantage of it. I think they only got 11 points off of all of those turnovers that the Pacers had last night. Once again, they couldn't have played worse. But they won the game, and they won the game in okc. In case you're wondering, for entertainment purposes, The Pacers are 11 point underdogs this time around. We talked about this yesterday, and if you're going to pick the Pacers to win a game, it was yesterday, it was last night. We see this, you know, that team struggling, scraping, scrapping, and then, you know, here we are, game one. Meanwhile, you've been waiting for your, you know, your opponent to come into town, and the Pacers came in and granted, they did not play well at all. OKC should have won that game by double digits. They were favored by nine and a half. But the Pacers, 11 point underdogs at OKC. But they've done what they needed to do, and that is, and look, there could be a gentleman sweep. I mean, there's, there's probably a lot of people, smart people, analysts who say, hey, okay, see, you can still, you know, they can sweep this. They can win in five and okay, probably can they have the talent, have the team? But at least the Pacers said, not so fast. Maybe we only get parting gifts for being in the NBA Finals. We're going to make you work for this. But that's inexcusable. It really is inexcusable that you didn't go after them. And you know what their MO is. I don't know why I'm yelling.
Seaton
Well, you got a point that you're up, what, 15 points with nine and a half minutes. The bench for the Pacers are killing you.
Dan Patrick
And Halliburton was out of his mind the past month.
Seaton
Like you said, get it out of his hands. And risk the Pascal Siakam layup?
Dan Patrick
Someone else should rotate over Nemhard like anybody. Miles Turner. I did. It can't be that guy. It can't. It's like when Reggie was playing with the Pacers. Reggie is not beating me. He can't beat me. Mark Jackson, Rick Smith's one of the Davis brothers. Somebody other than that guy. And there are a few of those that guys in the NBA. And Halliburton has become that. Yeah, see, it is funny that you.
Channing Frye
Did come in like exasperated today.
Dan Patrick
I did.
Channing Frye
Like, dang, dude. I didn't know that you were like riding that harder. Oh, you just don't let him go, right?
Dan Patrick
I know.
Channing Frye
The one guy.
Dan Patrick
I know. Yeah, I know. God. But it's. It's just the basketball purist in me. I'm watching it. And even though I love that Indiana won, I mean, I want this to be a competitive series. You know these people who say, oh, there's no star power. I'm not watching. I don't give a damn. Get the hell out of here. Okay. The NBA is going to be fine. Off my lawn. Yeah, they're going to be fine. I don't know. Okay, don't watch. But this is ideal for both the NHL in the NBA. You got an overtime win by Edmonton. You had star power and you had an unbelievable performance at the end of the game. Wasn't a good game, but it was a great finish. Yes. Marv, I love how angry you got because you seem like the guy I know, a guy I went to school with. And I'm left handed. Obviously you guys know that. I kept going left. He's left. Marvin's left handed. Hello. Hello. He's left handed. That was you like, guys, he's going right. You know that, right? You guys know that I gotta force him left. And even if he takes the job like I need, I have to force him in to help. That's all. And I don't want you going with your strong hand there. That's all. And I don't want you taking the shot. You're so mad. I was. I. I know Godzilla and Fritz, he goes, damn, it's Friday. I go, I. It doesn't matter what day it is. So, yes.
Todd
Todd, isn't there an argument to be made that, like, if you're going to lose to somebody, better make sure that their best guy beats you? You can want one of these other guys, even though they have very good players in their team.
Dan Patrick
You.
Todd
You could make the argument that's like, if we're going to lose at the final seconds, we're not going to let one of their secondary guys beat us. Better be their best guy that takes us down.
Dan Patrick
Wait, wait. What are you. What are you saying? I'm saying that you're saying, let Halliburton not let the shot, not let him.
Todd
But is it easier to. Is it easier to swallow that it's their best guy as opposed to, we let one of these other guys beat us?
Dan Patrick
Had we. Let's. Five seconds to go? No. So your logic would be, hey, if Michael Jordan beats us, great. Instead of saying, make Steve Kerr, John Paxton beat us.
Todd
Yeah, we just lost to Nem. Harder. I can't believe we let the Siakam or column get that winning shot.
Dan Patrick
No, no. I could never live with myself if I said, oh, well, at least it was Jordan who beat me. It was. We didn't. You know what? Give them credit because we didn't let Michael take that shot. We didn't let Larry Bird take the shot. We didn't let Kareem take the shot. We didn't let Magic, Isaiah, the great players. I mean, that's why they're great. They do make plays. But this felt like this could have been prevented. Now, obviously, in the first three quarters or deep into the fourth quarter, but if you look at the transition, it's very okay. All right? And I'm thinking, the game's on the line. All he needs is a 2. Again, this can't be a game that feels like December. I was just shocked. That's all. I was shocked. Damn. All postseason, you've been saying the same thing. I know. I just. And, you know, the Danettes sometimes just let me go. Like, they just leave me alone. I'm talking to them. But they're not. They're like, okay, all right. Let him get it out. All right, let me take a break here. I gotta do a 20 I love the. Oh, oh. Good morning, DP Marv. What I know is that last night. I know.
Todd
Good morning.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. I walk around a corner, I run into Marvin. He goes, hey, DP Marvin. What was that last night? And he's like, what? What? I said, you can't let Alberton be.
Todd
You meet Friday. It's not good for digestion to get all this.
Dan Patrick

Seaton
Yeah, with a big sigh of relief. That didn't happen on Friday.
Dan Patrick
Did you think it was go. I thought it was going to happen on Friday. I thought it was going to happen today.
Seaton
Yeah. I had a, I had a feeling it was going to happen this week because I know. Yeah, I don't think next week is a drop dead deadline for the Steelers because I, they weren't pushy with him but I do think they, they, they articulated to him, hey, it'd be important, you know, for you to be here for that minicamp from, from June 10th to the 12th. So you know, if you're gonna, if you're going to take part in that minicamp, probably means you want to get in at the end of the week. And, you know, as it turns out, he is flying there on a Friday. So, like, it actually is happening on Friday. It's just that the news got out on Thursday in all likelihood because he had to plan to get there on Friday.
Dan Patrick
It's a short term fix, but it kind of kicks the can down the road that this is, this is one year. And yeah, that's what still surprises me, that they're all in for one year.
Seaton
So do you remember you and I sitting at the super bowl and we were talking about Matthew Stafford and I brought up the Steelers as a potential suitor for him and I think, you know, it made some headlines and people are like, whoa, what do you mean? Like, the Steelers would do that? Yeah, I kind of had an inkling that they had this, this discussion internally. They were never bringing Russell Wilson back, and I think if they were bringing Justin Fields back, they wanted to continue working with him, but it wasn't necessarily going to be as a starter. And I really like, kind of like as I looked at their situation and one of the reasons I use them as like the perfect suitor for Stafford applies to Rogers, too. They're so leveraged from. For right now, you know what I mean? Like, and if you look at like their roster, T.J. t.J. Watts turning 31. Minka Fitzpatrick's turning 29. Cam Hayward's in the back end of his career. DK Metcalf, who they just acquired, is on his third contract now. Now, he's not old, but he has been beat up and again on his third contract. They really are in this spot where it's like, if they want to win with the core that they've built, then it almost has to be right now. And yes, they're still chasing the mistake of taking Kenny Pickett in the first round, but the way I look at this is taking a quarterback in the first round wasn't going to solve anything this year with this group. I think the guys that you were looking at there were developmental at best. Like, you were probably looking at like, all right, we get the most out of this guy in 26 or 27. And that doesn't really help you with the core that you have right now. So if you wanted to get somebody for right now, I think the question becomes, do you want to try to hit a single or a double? And this is no affront to these guys, you know, like a Daniel Jones trade for a Kirk Cousins, whatever it is, or do you want to take a big swing for the fences? And I think that's what this is, it's like if you want to win a Super bowl with T.J. watt, if you want to win a Super bowl with Minka Fitzpatrick, if you want to win a Super Bowl, Cam Hayward, who's given your franchise so much over the years, how are you going to accomplish that? And like, yeah, there's a chance that, you know, Aaron Rodgers gets hurt or the age shows or whatever it is, so you might take that big swing and miss, but he's also got the best chance of putting one over the fence for you, you know. And so I think that's sort of the way the Steelers viewed this, is with this core, you know, with this short window that they have left with this core of players, they, they couldn't swing for a single or a double. They had to swing for the fences.
Dan Patrick
Talking to Albert Brear, the Monday morning quarterback, the Lions off season, pretty rough. You lose your coordinators now, you lose your starting center. What does that do to you in your eyes, as far as being a Super bowl contender? If anything tests you in a lot of ways.
Seaton
And look like, I think part of this is that they got the bonus year for Ben Johnson. So this would have happened gradually if Ben Johnson had went like, sort of through the natural order of things. But he really liked it in Detroit. He thought he could be. The extra year or two of development could be useful for him, you know, and so he stays the extra year. You could argue he stayed an extra two years because he did have opportunities two years ago. So now you're dealing with that all at once, where you have attrition both on offense and defense, you know, at the top of the chart, you know, and then I, Frank Ragnow, I'm not going to minimize that loss at all like that. He's a, he was a rock for them, a foundation piece for them and a really important position. And you're taking that out of what has been the, maybe the biggest strength on the team over the last couple of years is your offensive line. So I sort of look at it like, you know, you remember that those great giant defensive lines, like, they kept feeding that pipeline, right? Like they kept drafting guys and drafting guys and drafting guys. So a strength would always stay a strength. So, like, you know, the question here is, is that as big a strength for them, is that as much of their identity now as it was before as you're breaking in a new offensive coordinator with Johnny Morton taking over for, for. For Ben Johnson? I look, it's a lot, you know, it's definitely a Lot. And it's going to test a lot of people there. Is there going to be a drop, drop off from, from Ragnar to Glasgow or, or Ratledge or whoever winds up playing center? I think you certainly have to account for that. You know, if Ragnar is an all pro player, is there going to be a drop off at the coordinator spots? You have to be prepared for that. Even if, you know, you, you think the world of guys who are replacing Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn. So it's a lot, no question. And, and it's, and it's in a division that's going to be pretty unforgiving this year, too.
Dan Patrick
The Colts situation, it looks like Daniel Jones may win that job by default with Anthony Richardson. Now the shoulder injury. And I started to think about, they drafted Anthony Richardson the way NBA teams will draft a player who's a project. Like, you know, this guy Ace Bailey who played at Rutgers, and you're like, man, he's really athletic. Can he play? I don't know, but he's athletic. Anthony Richardson struggled to keep his job in college, and then we found that, you know, he was gassed during a game and took himself out. And I don't know if we like the philosophy of drafting that, where you just base it off one year. And I mean, this may go down as a huge, huge whiff for that organization.
Seaton
I mean, he's so raw coming out. You know, I think everybody saw the talent, ability, but you have to, you know, demonstrate an ability to actually do it on the field. And there wasn't a lot of that, you know, so they were really projecting and, you know, with Shane Steichen coming in and how, you know, Shane was a part of developing Jalen hurts. They had some confidence that, like, hey, we can take this kind of ball of clay and shape it into something. Even though he only started 13 games in college, which is an absurdly low number, I'd argue this is also the result of like, you know, sort of predetermining. And I think this is where you have to be really careful, Dan. But predetermining that this is the draft where we're going to take a quarterback.
Dan Patrick
Oh, yeah. Yes. Yeah.
Seaton
You know, I, I just, I like, I, I. And you remember it as well as I do, right? Like, so luck retires after 18. No one saw it coming. Brissette in 19, Rivers in 20, Wentz in 21, Ryan in 22. Owner gets fed up. Frank Wright gets fired in the middle of the year. Jeff Saturday put in come hell or high Water. We're going, we're going to get our quarterback in 2023. Well, is the reality of it, they took the third quarterback in a two quarterback draft. You know what I mean? Like, and like that's how you again, we've seen it time and again. That's how E.J. manual goes to Buffalo 16th overall. It's how Kenny Pickett goes in the first round of Pittsburgh.
Dan Patrick
Christian Ponder.
Seaton
Christian. Christian Ponder. Yeah, to the Vikings. Like if you predetermine, I think like teams were prone to that happening this year, you know, like where it just, you have to draft the player. You can't just draft the position, you know. And I do think to some degree the Colts were in this spot where they were drafting the position in 2023 because they were on under something of a mandate to do so because they had had such a revolving door at that spot. I think it's, I think it's a huge, huge, huge red flag, Red flag for any team thinking like going into this year, yes, we're taking a quarterback next year. Year, you know, and here's the other thing, like what you, what, what did it cost you? Well, it really cost you three off seasons of finding a quarterback because you didn't get it right in 23. And then the last two years you've just backstopped Richardson last year, you know, with Joe Flacco and this year with, with, with Daniel Jones. So you've ostensibly lost. I mean, unless Daniel Jones winds up being the quarterback of the future, I'm not ruling anything out. But you know, you've, you've, you've lost three, three more off seasons now as a result of that pick. It can be really damaging to a franchise for sure.
Dan Patrick
Where do we stand with the Stefan Diggs boat party story?
Seaton
Yeah, I would say so. So first of all, like, I think the first thing you want to, you want to lay out here is how important culture has been for, for, for Mike Vrabel and trying to establish what he wants to build there. I think they follow the commander's blueprint to some degree. If you look at all the guys that Dan Quinn and Adam Peters signed in the 2024 off season, almost every one of them had a connection to someone on the coaching staff. And it was, it was because they wanted to know that they were getting the right types of guys to plug into their program in year one. And you know, Mike did a lot of that in the off season. Milton Williams was an exception, but he was a plus character in Philly. Almost everybody else that they signed had some sort of background. And this one, Diggs was sort of the dice roll. So I think this happening this early, and it's not so much being on a boat, Memorial Day weekend, or even the bag of drugs, it's like, how do you allow yourself to be filmed like that? Now you've created a week long story for everybody else in the team. So I think the big thing was, did he make it out of that week? Did he sit down and have an honest conversation with Mike Vrabel? Was he straightforward with him and can they move forward now? This doesn't disappear because if something else were to happen, of course, like, you know, he already has a strike against him, right? Like that. It's not like it just vanishes off the ledger. Because if something else were to happen, then, like, you know, I think that then. Then, you know, you would certainly look back and say, okay, this is twice now, dude. But, you know, I do think it's. That the juncture is happening, can be fortuitous for the Patriots. And they could say, okay, like now, you know, like, this is what people were worried about with you. We really need you to be a leader for the team. And the good news is, like, I think Steph is deep down a good guy. His work ethic has always been beyond reproach. He's been a captain for multiple teams. Like, I just. I think that there's a. There's a good path out of this, but it certainly doesn't disappear from the ledger.
Dan Patrick
Allegedly drugs.
Seaton
Did I not say allegedly?
Dan Patrick
I'm sorry.
Seaton
I have no idea what was in the bag. I wasn't on the boat. Wasn't invited.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Would you have gone on the boat if invited?
Seaton
Sure, sure, sure. Did they lose your invite in the mail, too?
Dan Patrick
I don't think I want to be on that boat, you know?
Seaton
You know, I would go on for journalistic purposes.
Dan Patrick
Of course you would. I would go on for Cardi B. Okay. This team will have the number one pick in the draft this upcoming season.
Seaton
That's a tough one because this one's going to get aggregated.
Dan Patrick
Man.
Seaton
New Orleans would be interesting, wouldn't it, if they had the first pick and they had a chance to take a quarterback. And would Arch Manning declare? I don't even want to get into that because I. We don't. We still don't know on Arch, like, how good he's going to be when he's a starter for a full year. But, you know that's going to be the storyline, right? I mean, his family history says there's no way he's coming out after one year starting right.
Dan Patrick
Like his. But if the Saints have the number one pick in the draft, then, I.
Seaton
Mean, like, wouldn't that be tempting, right?
Dan Patrick
Yes.
Seaton
Yeah. And their quarterback situation, I mean, I, the Saints are an interesting one because I don't think they're a bad. I don't think it's a bad team. Like, I don't think it's a bad roster. Like, I think their offensive line actually has a chance to be really good with Kelvin Banks coming in there. You know, the defensive line still has, I think, promise maybe get a little bit more out of Chase Young this year. Cam Jordan's back for his 25th year, you know, so, like, I think that there are elements of a good team there and I think for a young quarterback coming in eventually, this could be a really good spot. I just, I don't know how quarterback's gonna undermine them this year. You know, like the back end of the defense, I'm not sure where that's how that's gonna look like. I think the lines give them an opportunity to stay in games, but the rest of it is kind of like, like, you know, like, let's see what this looks like. And, and yeah, I mean, I. Wouldn't that definitely be the storyline though, right? Like.
Dan Patrick
Yes.
Seaton
Yeah. If, if we get to December and they're near the top of the draft order and Texas is like in the national title picture. Yeah, it could be pretty interesting.
Dan Patrick
Albert, have a great weekend. The Monday morning quarterback. Thank you.
Seaton
All right, thanks, Dan.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, you imagine feels like Arch is going to stay for two years and I'm sure that that would be something that the Manning family would advise him. Get some starts, get some big starts under your belt, get 25, close to 30 starts under your belt, then you'll be ready. But can you pass up the opportunity to be the quarterback for the New Orleans Saints? Sean in Oregon? Hey, Sean, what's on your mind?
Seaton
Hey, thanks for taking my call, Dan.
Dan Patrick
I hear you guys talking about the odds on the Steelers and I'm thinking more like what are the odds that Arthur Smith finished the season with the Steelers? I've been watching Aaron Rodgers and what he's been doing and I watched what happened to the jets coaching staff and that whole team. I mean, I think the Steelers are a little more strong willed and a little bit better decision making than the jets, but I think this would get pretty nasty. And I think a lot of the Steelers locker room probably got their opinions Already made. And if he doesn't, if they like Arthur Smith more than they like Aaron Rodgers, a couple of the linemen might play matador type line for a couple games to let something happen to him. I don't think that's going to happen. They want to win. They got a chance to win with that. You may not like all your teammates, but if that guy can help you win, that's what it's. That's the bottom line. Dan in Ohio. Hi, Dan. What's on your mind today?
Seaton
ADPD Dan. That's. First time, long time. 5:10 in a wiry 130. The reason I'm calling is this Sunday, I am headed out to Germany to see my daughter, who is a captain in the army. And she surprised me with a Father's.
Dan Patrick
Day weekend trip to Normandy.
Seaton
You know, that was one of your most memorable trips. So I was hoping to maybe get a little advice on a couple places to stop. I know there's all kinds of stuff.
Dan Patrick
There, but I just wanted to get your. Get your opinion on the matter. All right. You got a great daughter. If she surprised you with that for Father's Day, go to the American cemetery, the US Cemetery with all the soldiers who, who died there, and go to the German cemetery because you will see. I mean, it's unbelievable the difference between those two. Even, you know, the gravestones, the Americans, they're white stone, and Germany, they're black. You know, the, the feeling of pride at the, the U.S. cemetery as opposed to going to the German cemetery and get there for taps. Okay. If you get an opportunity to get there in the evening when they bring the American flag down at the cemetery, it is, it's so moving. It, it'll. It'll hit you hard. If you can get a walking tour, if you get a guide who can help you with some of the smaller things that I wasn't aware of, but it was so rewarding. Unbelievable. And then when you go to Omaha Beach, I mean, when you see what those kids, when they got off those boats and you can see where the Germans had positioned their machine guns, there's still little caves cut out. They had no chance, none. And they got out of those boats. And the way the Germans position their machine guns, they were shooting at angles, you know, against the soldiers, not straight ahead. They were going sideways. And it, it is a very, very, very powerful scene. Moment feel. I just sat on the beach. I cried. Yes.
Channing Frye
That picture of the. Yeah. I think it's called, like, into the jaws of, of death, maybe, but it's that very famous picture of sort of the landing barge and the front has gone down for everybody to run off of. And you can see, you know, the walls of the barge sort of frame the picture. And all you can see is straight through what all of these people ran through and where they were running to. It's one of the most powerful photographs ever taken.
Dan Patrick
I just can't imagine you're 18, 19 years of age and all of a sudden you're pulling up and you're seeing, I mean, it's just a massacre. It truly is. And you're getting off that boat and damn. I mean, if you have kids, you imagine an 18 year old son getting off that boat, 19 years of age, everybody getting shot right in front of you. But there's so much, so many historical artifacts there and, you know, planes that they jumped out of and jeeps that they rode in. And it just, it, it'll, it'll hit you. It'll hit you hard. Been a Danette for many years. As a matter of fact, it's one of the longest relationships I've ever had in my life, longer than actually my wife. And one of the things I've learned in that time is that most athletes elevate performance through better nutrition. And here's the thing, your pets aren't much different. Your pets need quality protein to build lean muscle, balanced nutrition to maintain energy and proper hydration to support recovery and thrive regardless of their preferred form of exercise. That's why gold medalists like Simone Biles and Caleb Dressel, they trust Nulo for their own pets. And they understand that champion performance starts with what goes into their body. Nulo is loaded with premium protein that builds and maintains muscle. Their low carb formula prevents those midday crashes. So your pet stays in the game all day. And their mix and match options help you customize nutrition for your pet's specific needs, like a pro athlete's meal plan. The bottom line is champions don't leave performance to chance. And neither should you. My dogs, I have got three of them and they absolutely love Nulo. You should visit nulo.com that's n u l o.com to fuel incredible final hour on this Friday.

Channing Fry back on the program. Thanks for joining us. Oklahoma City's biggest mistake last night was what.
Marvin
Started to get stagnant in that last 6 minutes of the fourth quarter. I think if you watch that first Knicks game, the Knicks were moving the ball, the ball was finding energy. In the last six minutes, OKC started to play. We're trying not to lose instead of winning basketball. And they stopped going at Tyrese Halliburton. They stopped attacking the paint, and they started to just give it to sga and everybody got tight. And then the Pacers said, oh, here we go. And it's just. It's. It's absolutely amazing as somebody who's played basketball, won at the highest level, played every position, whether that start. DMP came off the bench to see how locked in for 48 minutes Indiana is consistently. It's just death by a thousand cuts, right? It is. They put T.J. mcConnell in. He's playing at a high level. They put Neesmith, and he's playing high level. You know, then they put different rot. And I'm just impressed at Rick Carlisle's ability to lift up every single one of his players to play at this level consistently and not play hero ball until the end. And Tyrese says, oh, y' all need me to be the hero. Okay, here we go. Like, whether I have two points or 12 points, 200 points. I'm going to hit this. I'm going to hit this last shot.
Dan Patrick
Okay? I was yelling at the TV last night. Now, keep in mind, I picked the Pacers to win, but I can't believe the defense that OKC had. There's one guy in the building. I don't care what kind of game he's had prior to that. There's one guy who has been built for this. He's not afraid of this moment. I cannot let Tyrese Halliburton beat me. I can't let him go. Right? I can't. I mean, I. Okay, help me understand this. What did. What did you see there that he did in okc? Did or didn't do one.
Marvin
They stopped going at him defensively. I think if you rewatch that first half, they put him in actions. And anytime in the NBA, especially in the Finals, you get an action, meaning two people go on the ball, whether that's a show, and get back. OKC does that really well. Indiana. Tyrese was struggling at the beginning of this because I don't think the Knicks went at him. So when they put two on the ball, they were getting downhill two feet in the paint, spraying out putting him in different screening actions. Nobody. They wanted to keep Niecemith and Nemhard on SGA as much as possible, where that's kind of exhausting to his mind. If you give a guy like Tyrese Halliburton 4, 5, 6 minutes where he doesn't have to necessarily be in an action run, be in rotations, he can settle into the game and start to control it. I thought at the end of the game, OKC was. So they weren't present, right? In basketball, at the end of the game, you need to be present to like what the game plan is. If they were present, they would have ran over and made him throw it. But give this to Indiana, everybody. They had, what, seven dudes and double figures. So who do you double team? If the guy who's the clutch player, maybe of our generation, which is crazy to say. I know that, Tyree. I mean, it's crazy to say, but do you double team for a guy who has 23? This guy is 14. This guy is 20. That has 17.
Dan Patrick
I don't care. I'm not letting Halliburton take the shot. I just. Not totally, totally.
Marvin
But. But in that split second that you have to make a decision, right? Usually you would feel, this guy doesn't want to shoot. That guy's afraid of the moment. Siakam has had big moments. Neesmith is at big moments. Miles Turner has made big shots. So, like that, that split second of not going, the shot is already up. And that's what makes them. It is. I've watched a lot of basketball. I don't know how they do it or how they practice that, but coach always says, hey, play 48 minutes. And they literally play 48 full crazy minutes. It's a masterclass.
Dan Patrick
I brought this up at the start of the show. There are certain teams that are so good, and my reference point is UNLV back in the 90s, they blew everybody. Yeah. Oh, yeah. And I would. I would keep reminding people in. In March Madness, you have one game usually where it's going to get tight, and I want to know when it gets tight, how you perform. And we saw that it got tight. They had a bad play. Duke ended up beating them. OKC has been blowing teams out by an average of 13 points. Game got tight, and all of a sudden, Indiana's been playing in these tight games, and you saw the difference. I mean, SGA got the shot that he wanted, didn't go. Siakam had an unbelievable block on sga. But then you give. You gave them a puncher's. Chance. And that's all they've asked for. Hey, nobody wants to see us. You know, nobody knows us. Well, we're going to hang around a little bit longer there. And I think it's a testament to those players, to that coaching staff of we're down 15. We're not going to do anything drastic. Although OB Toppin came in, he played terrible, and then he played unbelievable. He keeps. It's like Rick Carlisle keeps spinning the roulette wheel. And John, okay, let's try that guy. You know, Nemhard might have a good game or Neesmith might have a good game, Miles Turner, but, you know, the consistent is Siakam and Halliburton.
Marvin
Well, I'll say this. I think what Rick Carlisle does, and I say this to my friends, he's the best Jenga player of all time. He's going to keep tapping a brick until it gets off. And the thing is, the first half, if they hadn't the calmness of him as his leader to go, guys, we have God knows how many turnovers. They've only scored nine points. Let's take, let's. We can control that one, two. What's wild is Siakam is the biggest mismatch for okc, I would say, next to, like, Jokic, because Chet can't guard Siakam one on one, right? So now you got to play a smaller lineup. So now the best team in basketball, second best team, you know, if you're looking at the Cavs, right, for the regular season, is maybe changing their lineup. That's worked all year for one guy.
Dan Patrick
I know.
Marvin
Hold on now. I know that's crazy, right? And then two, a great coach, whether it's Spoelstra, whether that's Joe Missoula, whether that's Steve Kerr, you know, Ty, Luke, whoever. When you're allowed to use your players that don't have egos as chess pieces, Rick Carlisle is just. Every time Dagnaut makes a play, he just, he just says, oh, rook to pawn seven. Like, he just is playing and they run out of moves because he's like, oh, this guy's ego hurts that I took him out. Where the Pacers go, oh, that's just Rick. Like, I'm going back in, no problem. But it's, it's for people who love basketball. Like, you can watch that game again and just see the moves be made and just appreciate the, the, the skill set of everyone on the court.
Dan Patrick
Talking to Channing Fry Turner sports NBA analyst and co host of Road Tripping Podcast also won a championship with the CAVS back in 2016. Okay, but with that play, when you guys went. When Kyrie hits the shot. Yeah, is. Is LeBron prepared for Kyrie to take the shot? Like he knows, like Jordan did with Steve Kerr and John Paxton. They were going to take the last shot. Was LeBron prepared to not take that last shot that you guys knew if Steph was guarding Kyrie, he was taking the shot.
Marvin
So if you watch that whole series, Andrew Bogut, and I've said this before, was the biggest thing that happened that series, right. They had to go small. And with that small lineup, Kyrie was. We were. I don't want to say the right word is at hunting, but again, we. The only action we got, which is not a switch. They were the number one defense in the league. The only non switch where Golden State would put two people on the ball was when Steph was getting ready to guard Kyrie. So we said a. And I don't know if this is true or not, we said, kyrie, he don't want to guard you. So we start pumping him up, like, get him like a dog. Like, get him. And all of a sudden, Kyrie just does what Kyrie does. And so for us, the. The Eagles went out the door. We said, hey, that's the best matchup for us. We have Tristan down there boxing out. We have Kevin down there boxing out. We have Bron down there boxing out. So just in case, I think Richard was in the game or junior boxing out. So that's 6, 9, 6, 9, 6, 10, 6, 10 versus their small group with Kyrie shooting the ball. Like, you can't plan that over us over the smallest guy on the court. And Kyrie is. And people are going to be upset. But watching Kyrie, for the years that I was there, my short time, he's the most skilled player I have ever seen, top to bottom, hands down, regardless, when he shot that, we all knew, oh, that's good. Like, it wasn't even a thought of is this going in or not. When he got to his spot and did that little shimmy, we're like, oh, yeah, that's it, that's it. It's just. He's just that ridiculous. But yeah, Bron was like, man, dude, to do that 41 point triple doubles, like three games in a row, like. And people are like, well, you didn't shoot the last shot.
Dan Patrick
I know.
Marvin
That's because I'm playing with Kyrie, you idiot. Like, and that's the matchup. Like, people just make Stuff up. But if you're ready to win, you go with the best matchup. And last night, not to bring this around, Indiana started hunting chat. Chet had a bad game. I don't think he's going to play like that every game. But the minute chat, like, started to be a little weary. They go, got him. We got something. And they started attacking him. They started going at him. And in the finals, that's a lot. It. It sucks when you start getting hunted. What you're going to have to sit down and mood and poppies are you going to be. You're going to be over there.
Dan Patrick
What's it like to be hunted during a game? Knowing sucks. Like, who was the guy that you were guarding? And you were like, damn, he. He's hunting me.
Marvin
We're in the NBA Finals and they're playing five guards. They were playing Andre Guadala, Draymond Green, Sean Livingston, Steve. Steph Curry. Steve Curry. Steph Curry. That's his brother Steve. Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. And they put Varajao in because, remember, I got traded for Varajao. When they put Varajao in, I came in real quick. And then they took Steve Kerr, immediately took him back out and put Harrison Barnes in, right? So I'm now guarding Harrison Barnes, who's basically a guard. And I'm a center, true center. And my feet are like cement blocks. So they were like, where's Channing? So that's why, like, during the NBA Finals, I was like, man, listen, y' all, we're talking about the best team ever to play, one of the best teams ever to play basketball. And you got slow foot Ogre Channing trying to guard Clay. Steph. Andre Godala, who is a guard with me at Arizona, Stop it. Like, what are we doing? So hunting does not feel good because you're like, I can't move that fast. This is not who I am as a player. And this is just not my time. Easter Conference finals. I could cook. Finals versus Golden State, maybe, you know, hey, I got you here, Brown. The paychecks ain't that big.
Dan Patrick
We've been talking about the whole of. Very good. Not the hall of Fame, but those players who were just there outside, you know, they're on the patio. Like Jamal Crawford, hall of Fame.
Marvin
Right, Right.
Dan Patrick
Joe Johnson, if you want to put him in there. I don't know if you. You have a nominee for the hall of Very Good, whether it's a player now or maybe somebody you played with or against. Like Kevin Love. Is Kevin Love a Hall of very good or.
Marvin
So let me ask you, this is the Basketball hall of Fame, right? Or the NBA hall of Fame, if it's basketball. He said no, no question. So he wins national player of the year in high school, wins, I think two state championships, goes to college, wins there, goes to the NBA for two years as a power forward. A chubby white dude from Portland, Oregon, is in conversations to be the best. Is he the best power forward in the NBA? Then changes his role, wins a championship in Cleveland, goes to the finals four times. I know he got hurt, but he still was on the team. Goes to the finals four times, goes to Miami, goes to the finals two more times. So like to me, how much winning does somebody have to do?
Dan Patrick
So he's a Hall of Fame.
Marvin
Where they go.
Dan Patrick
He's a hall.
Marvin
He's a Hall of Fame.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Marvin
All right, so a Hall of Good.
Dan Patrick
Who would you nominate? Like Jamal Crawford? Would you say hall of Fairy?
Marvin
For sure. Jamal, for sure. I think you look at his impact as like the culture of basketball. I think you look at his impact on like his skill set, the six man, the war, like being maybe the greatest six man. I think if.
Dan Patrick
But is he a Hall of Famer or Hall of Very good.
Marvin
I think he has to be a Hall very good. Mo's my guy. I think he's more my guy. But winning also equates to this, right? If he had won a chip or gone to the NBA Finals, I think that would change my opinion on that. And Mall's my good friend and so I kind of feel bad saying that. But he is, he is above very good, but he's not a true hall of Fame. Somebody has gone to the finals five times, you know.
Dan Patrick
All right, give me your nominate. Give me somebody that you want to nominate for the hall of Very good.
Marvin
Honestly, I, I would have to say Amar Stoudemar.
Dan Patrick
That's a good, I mean, play.
Marvin
And he was my teammate. I mean, maybe lamarcus Aldrich, like, I'm just going to go through power forwards. Lamarcus Aldrich, I mean, they were. I'm just going to go through power forwards. Monsters. Monsters at their position. Obviously the league went smaller, but you look at their body of work, you look at how they did it, you look at their impact, you look at their all star nominations. I mean, lamarcus, you look at how many shots or many points he had. He only had three moves. He had a fade away, a hook face up. He was cooking. Trust me. I play him every day and was cooking in Amare. Cooking like what about his impact.
Dan Patrick
Stephon Marbury, hall of Very heat.
Marvin
I know. I think this is crazy. I think Stephon Marbury needs to be in the hall of Fame, the real hall of Fame. Like, I think Stephon Marbury's impact on basketball, globally, he's one of the best guards I have ever played.
Dan Patrick
Okay. More talented. Kyrie or Stefan Marbury?
Marvin
Oh, talented, yeah. Oh, that's a great question. Oh, Steph, I think people forget how good stuff was.
Dan Patrick
I know.
Marvin
Like, oh, man. I know his sneakers were ho humba and he's gonna get mad. I said, we used to make fun of those sneakers, but it was a great idea. I have to go with Kyrie, just because, like, his. But it's not skill, it's talent.
Dan Patrick
Freak.
Marvin
That is a great question. I want to say Steph, because he has more hops. Steph, because athletically, Steph was just. Kyrie is just an absolute crazy man when it comes to basketball. Like, he doesn't. I think people say it. He doesn't know what move he's going to do until you move your foot. So for his ability to move his body as fast as you move your feet without being like, I'm just going to go right. He's like, oh, that foot's up. I'll go left. Stop. Behind the back, stop. Cross. One of the best shooters I've ever seen.
Dan Patrick
Like, how about Sean Marion, hall of. Very good. Dude.
Marvin
These are hard questions, because Sean Marion.
Dan Patrick
He.
Marvin
How is he not in the hall of Fame, though? Like, he did win a chip, though, right, In Dallas.
Dan Patrick
And to have a shot that started, you know, at his belly button.
Marvin
But no, like, the fact that he would shoot. The thing about it is, it wasn't the prettiest, but he always made it when it counted, which made it even worse, right? Yeah, but, like, his impact on basketball, it was like, oh, you're playing good here, let me shut that water off. Oh, your center's playing good here. Let me go guard him. Your guard's playing good. And, like, his motor, his bounce like that. I think we got to look back at, like, those early 2000 power forwards. That era is actually so much fun to watch. I was thinking about guys like, you know, Chris Kamen and LaMarcus Aldridge and Boozer and Memon O' Cora and, you know, obviously, KG Kevin, you had David west, you had Chris Bosh, you had. I mean, it was a monster. Tim Duncan, obviously. I mean, who am I? But, like, you know, it was a monster every single night playing those dudes.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, you guys should do a podcast on that power forward.
Marvin
We should but you know Richard be talking too much.
Dan Patrick
Great to catch up with you.
Marvin
We always I appreciate you guys have a good weekend.
Dan Patrick
That's Channing Fry, Turner's sports NBA analyst co host. A road tripping podcast also is a wine partnership with a former teammate, Kevin Love. I love when you ask these guys about certain players because Stefan Marbury was an incredible talent. He just, he had a better career in China. You know, the Knicks were a mess back then when he was playing, but he was like, you forget just how great he was. Yes, Marv, he was one of the first one in duns like he is at Georgia Tech for one year. It's like, nope, he's going to the league. Yeah, Seaton.
Channing Frye
Yeah, I feel like Stefan Marbury in some ways. For some players as great as they are, it isn't always their play that stands in the way, but it's just the timing, you know, and sometimes timing is just wrong. You know, you might be the right player at the wrong time or wrong team. Yeah, wrong team. There's a lot of things that there's a lot of different factors that go into the success of a player.
