This season on my podcast here's the

thing, I talked to composer Marc Shaiman.
Dan Patrick
It's about the hang. It's the pleasure of hanging out with the people that you're with. You know Rob and I was always a great hang and and journalist Chris Whipple. Every White House staffer, they work in a bubble called the West Wing and it's exponentially more so in the Trump White House.

Listen to the new season of here's the thing on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcasts, you are
Dan Patrick
listening to the Dan Patrick show on Fox Sports Radio. You know the Raiders signing their center Tyler Linderbaum for $27 million per year. That's 9 million more than the second highest paid center who is Creed Humphrey with Kansas City. I love the signing. You get an elite center and I'm going to have him in front of Fernando Mendoza helping to block for Ashton Genty as well. I think it's a very smart decision. I'd load up on offensive line early and often if I'm the Raiders. The Chiefs got Kenneth Walker Jr. III. It's a three year $45 million deal. And keep in mind he's played more than 12 regular season games twice in his four years. He of course the Super Bowl M Mike Evans going to the Niners. They're probably going to release Brandon Ayuk. You got to compete with LA and Seattle and it says three years, 60 million. I'd be surprised at age 33 if he's able to go for three years. Malik Willis to the Dolphins. I told you that's where I thought he was going to go. Three years at 67 million. The surprising part of this is and I thought he would go there but then I also said if I'm the Dolphins I would just stay with Quinn Ewers and then just kind of get through this season. Malik Willis, he's not coming in to. I don't like using the word tank but underperform. He wants to come in to prove that he is a starting quarterback in this league. But the Dolphins aren't ready to win now and that's what was surprising. Now it's not a lot of money for a starting quarterback. You know, 22 and a half million dollars. I think it's great. The Dolphins head coach Jeff Halfley, he was the Packers DC last year so he saw Willis every day in practice and they bring him in. But I was wondering about the Kenneth Walker signing because the Chiefs at nine, I thought maybe Jeremiah Love, if the Chiefs were lucky he would fall there. The Saints have Travis 18. They, they signed him. The Cardinals aren't going to go I don't think for Jordan Love at number three. So maybe the Titans at four, Giants at five are the commanders at seven. So these are the things when you look at the free agent signings what do they mean at other positions or players who are going to be drafted? And the Panthers did make the playoffs last year at 8 and 9 but they went out and improved their defense. Jalen Phillips, it's a lot of money. Four for 120. And Devin Lloyd, he was a second team All Pro in 2025. So those are just some of the moves that happen and how they're going to impact teams with drafting, how they're going to impact other free agents there. But Kenneth Walker to the Chiefs, that's, that's good money. That they paid. And Albert Breer, the Monday morning quarterback will join us next hour we'll talk about college basketball. Those who punched their tickets last night, the drama that is Magic City with the NBA have that for you as well. Seaton, what's the poll question for the first hour of this program?
Seaton
First hour poll question is from Paul. Who had the best day yesterday? Malik Willis, Tua, Fernando Mendoza, maybe Mike Evans even. There's a lot of people that changed destinations that may be upgraded. We can populate this poll question if you'd like. Who I'm not surprised had the best day yesterday.
Dan Patrick
I'm not surprised Tua ended up in Atlanta. I thought if you're going to build your offense around a left handed quarterback, bringing Tua in, he doesn't cost you anything. I don't think either of these quarterbacks is the future a solution but it doesn't cost anything if I can bring Tua in. I don't know if Michael Penix Jr. The third is going to be ready to start the season. Coming off an injury and you bring into a maybe. I mean you got weapons there and you know he doesn't have the strongest of arms but he can move it around a little bit there. You got a great running back bringing Pittsburgh so maybe you got an offensive minded head coach but I'm okay with this. Yeah.
Paul
Paul, you can make the case that to his career is in better shape now than it was a week ago. He gets all his money. He's on a better roster, a better defense, a winnable division. Much more winnable division compared to what he was in.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, yeah. I don't think there was any real downside. Just like the Vikings bringing in Kyler Murray, I think that's where he's gone. I said that from the beginning that would be the place. And I think with Kevin o' Connell with some offensive weapons there, he's indoors on turf. I like that as well. But Trey Hendrickson is kind of in no man's land. You know, he missed out on that big contract. He got the one year franchise contract or offer from the Bengals and now he's out looking for work and at his age he's not going to get that big contract. You know, might get front loaded, maybe get some, you know, decent guaranteed money but he missed out on his window. Yeah, Seaton, it does seem like with
Seaton
this like salary cap bump that happened this year, players are getting paid. Yeah, maybe more so than it's, it's a little bit here and there but you know, I mean that McDuffie deal is huge. Even Laramie Tunsil got two years 60.
Dan Patrick
That's.
Seaton
That's damn good money. There's a whole bunch of guys, you know that the alec Pierce money. Four years, 114 million. That's.
Dan Patrick
Alec Pierce was a kid out of Cincinnati and I remember watching one of their games, I'm like, that dude gets behind the defense and that's what he does. He gets behind the defense. He's not a guy that's going to have 80 catches. He's going to get 40 and then he'll turn 40 into 10 touchdowns. He averages about 22 yards per reception, but he got $29 million. Now I go, wow, that's a lot of money for a guy who's not even your number one option. But 29 million per season. So that's 1 million less than Aman Ross St. Brown. That's $4 million more than Devonte Smith. That's 5 million more than Nico Collins. Wow. For a guy who, well, hopefully he can develop into a 80 catch guy. But he does make you pay with the 40 plus catches. Yes. Paul.
Paul
Yeah. Alec Pierce last year only 47 catches. A thousand yards, 21 yards a catch. The year before, 22 yards of catch. That's like old AFL days numbers.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. You don't get too many of those guys that are like, he just does one thing, he beats you deep. But they the Colts, Michael Pittman Jr. The third goes to Pittsburgh. But Alec Pierce, your go to guy for the Colts staying home. Yes.
Marvin
If you're the owner of an average team or a below average team that didn't do much. And I know it's been only that first day yesterday. What is the owner want to say to the general manager or coaching staff is like, you know, what are we doing here?
Dan Patrick
We have a couple more days. But you miss out on the big ticket items. And I go back to Jerry Jones, he was all in and then he was going to bust the budget. I think this year. Like he comes up with slogans. It just, he doesn't really do anything. I mean Rashawn Gary, nice player. You know, he's a kind of a plug and play, you know, kind of let's stop the run game, I guess. Just like Kenny Clark. So they got another Kenny Clark from the Green Bay Packers. But I keep waiting for doubt. I mean the only move in the off season was Dak Prescott not getting married. And if I'm a Cowboy fan, not getting to have no.
Paul
What do you mean? He was engaged. Right. I honestly don't know about this.
Dan Patrick
They were at the bachelorette and bachelor parties and then after that decided they weren't going to get married.
Paul
Is he a restricted free agent right now?
Dan Patrick
I think he's unrestricted. Oh, yes.
Seaton
Lots of people saying he got too close to a ring and had to.
Dan Patrick
Yes, that's true. He had to back away. Yeah, I got it.
Seaton
A little too close to a ring.
Dan Patrick
Okay, fair enough. Fair enough. David in Ohio. Hi, David. Yeah, Seaton just stole my thunder there. But yeah, free agency news. Zach Prescott falling off the wedding for I don't know what happened there. And like Seaton said, it's not like the Cowboys to, you know, choke a month before getting the ring. So. Thank you. All right, David. I know we had a cowboy joke in there somewhere. All right. Eight, seven, seven, three DP Show. We'll come up with a poll question. Watching basketball, I did watch the world Baseball Classic with Team usa. Paul Schemes looked like he was in mid season form there last night. Sometimes there's certain pitchers where you go, it's not fair. Randy Johnson, when he would get on the mound and I would say, boy, it's not fair. Especially if you're a left handed batter with skins. It doesn't matter. He was bringing cheese there. It was fun to watch. And then I'm watching OKC and the Denver Nuggets and it's back and forth. Joker's playing great, SGA's playing great. Game on the line and SGA has the ball. And as I yell out loudly to wake up my dog next to me, double him, double team. Oh my God. Step back. Three. Boom. And I go, oh my goodness. He's the only guy in the building who's going to take the shot. OKC didn't have their full starting lineup. And give credit to SGA, he was great. Great. You look at the numbers here, 35. He scored at least 20 points in 126 consecutive games. So he's tied with Wilt Chamberlain for the longest such streak in NBA history. He also had 15 assists. He also didn't commit a turnover. And over the last five years, SGA has made eight go ahead baskets in the final 10 seconds of the fourth quarter or overtime. Three more than any other player. Stat of the day brought to you by Panini America. The official trading cards Dan Patrick show. And this isn't like you have to have your heisman moment, but this could be your MVP moment because if you didn't stay up and watch it. But national TV, you'll see it on SportsCenter and you're going to see him hit a big shot against their rival. And the guy who was up there for MVP as well in Joker. But sga methodical and I know people can. Now they're starting to go, well, you know, he kind of gets a lot of call fouls called and he kind of initiates contact and you know we went through this with James Harden. He's a great player. He's a great player and game on the line, he's done everything that you want. He plays hard and probably going to be the MVP Now I thought he was going to win the MVP even before this just because OKC has played well. Although they did taper off a little bit. I think we thought they're on a record breaking pace. So he'll be the mvp. Joker to me, still the best player. I think Jaylen Brown might be the most valuable player just because what he did in a year that we thought was maybe a throwaway year for the Celtics kept them in the thick of things and now Tatum is back and they might be the team to beat in the east. But you're watching and you're going, what is your defensive philosophy if you're going to play man on man against SGA and you're going to leave some poor kid on an island with the best player mvp. And they paid for it. Paid for it. Yes.
Marvin
Marvin, when, when I saw that play, all I could think about was you and how angry you were. Like two people on him. If Lou Dort hits the shot or one of the. Jalen Williams is hits the shot, all right, but not him. It cannot be every single time you know the team's best player hits a game winner, I just see you come in the next day.
Dan Patrick
No, Marvin, I can, I can never ever let the best player on the floor beat me. And yes, they did force him to take a three, but it was a step back jumper and I got to take the ball out of his hands. It's as simple as that. Somebody else beats me good, I'm fine with that. I got to take the ball out of his hands and there's another defender right there at the top of the key who could have come over, make him pick up his dribble, make him pass it and maybe you get somebody who is not ready to take that big shot. Like what is the downside to that? We're going to double sga. If he makes a shot when he's double teamed, hey, he earned it. We deserve to lose. But in that moment, I can't let him take that shot.

Is the Monday morning quarterback kind enough to join us on a Tuesday morning? Albert Breer, who had the best day yesterday? Albert.
Albert Breer
Oh, hey, Dan. I love what the Chiefs did. I. I think, you know, like, if you look at kind of where they were going into the day, they needed to fill running back, they needed to fill nose tackle. They get both those addressed. The reason I really like the Kenneth Walker deal, I go back a couple of years and I remember, you know, when Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs and Saquon Barkley did deals on the first day of free agency and there were a lot of people like I can't believe teams are spending on running backs, all of that stuff. And I remember taking a step back and thinking to myself, well, look at the three teams that did it. It was the Eagles, the Packers and the Ravens. And those aren't dumb teams. And so, you know, my thought on it at the time is this. Have we gotten to the point now where teams are looking at and saying that position has been devalued to the point where it's become a value? Right. And so then I dug into a little deeper, talked to those teams. It was pointed out to me that Darnell Mooney got signed by the Falcons for about the same same at about the same rate that Barkley, Jacobs and Henry got, which was insane to me. You know, do you think about the value of those players? So I think that the, you know, top end veteran running back who makes it to the free agent market has become a value. And so the Chiefs get that. And Kenneth Walker, a guy who can play on all three downs, had 133 catches over his four years in Seattle, something they really haven't had in a long time. In Kansas City. They get Kyrus Tonga to fill their nose tackle role. They get Alohi Gilman to play safety for him. I think Tonga and Gilman, two guys that switched teams last year, are ascending now. So they get those guys, I think on the way up, you know, and, and I think the other thing it does, Dan, to me that's really important. This is going to be a big draft for the Chiefs after the Trent McDuffie trade. And I don't think if you're the Chiefs, you can count on Jeremiah Love falling to you at nine. So by getting Walker, it really frees them up to joke. Just go get the best player with a nice pick and not have to trade up. And they have the 9th, 29th and 40th pick. So if they want, they can go in and maybe get a Travis Kelsey successor in Kenyon Sadiq. They go and get a receiver, like maybe a Carnell tape falls to them. They can go get a corner like, like, like Delaine from, from lsu. You know, you just look at all the different things that they could do now in the draft and getting Kenneth Walker opens a lot of that up for them. So I really like what the Chiefs did all the way around and I think it sets them up to have a really great draft and have a different looking team around. Patrick Mahomes when he gets back off
Dan Patrick
the acl, I'm guessing the Chiefs did their due diligence realizing that Jeremiah Love was not going to be there and they had to, they had to upgrade. So that means Titans, Giants, does Arizona entertain the idea of Jeremiah Love that high?
Albert Breer
So I think for all those teams, the question you got to ask is like, how quickly are we going to get really, really good?
Dan Patrick
Right?
Albert Breer
Like, so the thing about taking a running back that high is that like their rookie deal, like that's going to be a part of their prime because it's easier to plug guys in at that position and you can produce almost right away. And so, you know, I think for, for, for, for Arizona, for the Giants, for the Titans, you know, what it's going to take is a real sober look at your roster and, and saying to yourself, are we, are we, are we in a position to do this? Rather than, you know, taking a tackle or a pass rusher or someone in a premium position? And I think that's sort of indicative of the overall makeup of the top 10. I, I made this comparison a couple weeks ago and I think it's a, I think it's an interesting one. Do you remember the Lions in 2023, what they did when they took J.R. gibbs and Jack Campbell in the first round? Right. Do you remember how they were criticized for that? Dan, A running back and an off ball linebacker? Well, you know, now three years later, Jack Campbell's first team all Pro and Gibbs has made three Pro Bowls. Right. And so, and if you look at the guys who won a premium positions around them, I mean, I picked out 12 or 13 guys that were picked right around there and only Christian Gonzalez and Jackson Smith and Jigba are the same level or better than the two guys the Lions got. The reason I'm saying that is because, you know, I think that's going to be a question a lot of teams are going to have to ask is like, do we take a premium position, a corner, an edge rusher, a tackle, you know, in the top, call it 12 picks, or do we go with an off ball linebacker in Sonny Styles or a running back in Jeremiah Love or a safety and Caleb Downs? That's sort of the makeup of the top end of the draft because you don't have a Miles Garrett type of edge rusher. You don't have a Joe Alt type of tackle. You're gonna have to compromise some. And so it does make for an interesting decision. But I think for the teams you mentioned, the important thing is going to be are we ready to take a running back and plug them in and, and, and, and maybe pass up on somebody who could fill a hole at a premium spot.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, Commanders might be the landing spot for Jeremiah Love. We're talking to Albert Brear, the Monday morning quarterback. I like that the Raiders spent money. I like that they went out and they overspent for a center. But I, I gotta have the first line of defense for my quarterback. I gotta start with my center who is a high end center. I like that. And then they kind of filled in with maybe players that we're not too familiar with. But they will serve a purpose there. The Raiders spent money, did they spend it wisely?
Albert Breer
So they overspent on Tyler Linderbaum, but I think it was actually a good overspend. Here's the way I look at it. Like I think center is probably a more important position than guard and especially in that offense. So like Trey Smith and Tyler Smith are at the top of the guard market right now right around 24 million. So like let's say the value for Tyler Linderbaum is 23 or 24 million. Would you rather just spend the 3 million extra and get the player than risk losing them to the Commanders or the Browns or whoever was in it? If you're the Raiders, like 3 million isn't that much in the grand scheme of things. And if you've got to overpay because you haven't been winning, then go ahead and do it right. And what you get to me when you look at this is a guy who's a great scheme fit. He's a smaller guy for the position but that doesn't matter as much in the Kubiak offense. He's athletic, he can pull. So all that's in place. And then in that, in that offense they put a lot mentally on the center, right? The center is a huge part of the pre snap operation when it comes to setting protections and all of that stuff that takes stuff off the plate of the quarterback. So that's going to take stuff off the plate of Fernando Mendoza. So by investing in Linderbaum I think you're investing in Mendoza. So that's why I like that, that move. I think it's a scheme fit and it helps you with your young quarterback. And then you know, as far as the other things they did, I think they took advantage of a depressed market for off ball linebackers and going and getting Quay Walker and Kobe Dean. They're taking a flyer in a former first round pick and Cody pay. They're bringing back Eric Stokes, you know who I think flashed again as a former first rounder at Corner. You know, I think, you know, when you get past Linderbaum, I think you see a lot of sensible mid level moves. You know, they're not the top of the market, but I think they're moves that could make them better, you know, in the short term, in the long term. So I, I like where the Raiders
Dan Patrick
spent their money yesterday, trying to understand the Dolphins. I wasn't surprised Malik Willis went there, but I was surprised that why not just let this season play out? Why not have Quinn Ewers play? You're not winning anything. So you're going to give away one of Malik Willis's, you know, one year out of three years. It's not a lot of money. And I do, I do like him.
Albert Breer
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
I just, why not just ride this out? You know, you're not going to be good. Once again, it's supposed to be a good quarterback draft next year. Why not be in the mix for somebody who is truly a franchise quarterback?
Albert Breer
Yeah, I'm with you on all that. Like, this is very clearly a rebuilding year, like a tear it down to the studs year for them. Right. Like, no question about it. I think it's a credibility play is the way I would look at it. I mean, look like, I don't think there's any question that they're not going to be great this year. And you know, I think, you know, over the course of the next few weeks, the next couple months, I mean, you're going to see the Dolphins really put a lot of eggs in the basket of the draft. And that's been the charge of ownership. You know, when they were going out and looking for a new GM and looking for a new head coach, a huge part of it was we need to draft and develop better. And that's why they go and get a couple of guys from the packers and John Eric Sullivan and Jeff Hathley, because that place has been a player development machine over the years. And so I'm with you on, like, they need to draft better. They had fewer draft picks than any team in the league over the last four years. A couple of their draft classes out of the last five have been complete wastelands. They need to fix that and they're going to try and fix that this offseason. At the same time, I mean, you can't be the Cleveland Idiots from minor, from, from major league. You know what I mean? Like, if you're, if you're trying to, if you're trying to build a program. And so I, I do think like bringing in Malik Willis from Green Bay, you know, John Eric Sullivan and Jeff Halfley knew exactly what they're getting with him at least gives you some credibility that, you know, for the players who are on hand, we are going to give you a chance on a week to week basis. And you know, maybe we don't have Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes here, but we do have a guy that we can game plan with and a guy that we can compete with. And so just as far as like getting buy in from the players and, and, and, and, and energizing the team this year, I think Malik Willis does that. And you know, I, I view him as sort of a high end bridge to whoever the next guy is. And maybe it's somebody like an Arch Manning or a Brendan Sorsby or a C.J. carr or a Trinidad Chambliss, whoever it is, next year.
Dan Patrick
Kyler Murray seems like a foregone conclusion. He's going to Minnesota. Just that. Correct?
Albert Breer
I think he'd like to go to Minnesota. Yeah. Like I, okay, yeah, I think that's, I think that's a, I think that's a, that, that's a fair, fair guess.
Dan Patrick
But if not Minnesota, then where?
Albert Breer
Indianapolis? Like I, you know, do you. Here's the thing. If you're Kyler Murray because you, you're going to play in the minimum next year, right? So money is not an object. The Cardinals are basically paying you next year. So the reason Kyler Murray wanted to be cut rather than traded is because he wanted to go and he wanted to be able to pick his next destination for football reasons only, right? So if you're Kyler Murray, is your best play to go to the jets or is your best play to go to the Colts if it's not the Vikings, right? If you go to the Colts, you get to play for St. Shane Steichen. You get all the starter reps through the spring and summer. Maybe Daniel Jones is ready for the opener, but if he gets hurt again, then you get in and you'll have some familiarity with the players there and they've got good offensive players and guys like Pierce and Warren and, and, and, and not Pittman anymore, but, but Jonathan Taylor, good offensive line. So I think those are the things you have to weigh, right? Like if, if you're Kyler Murray, Minnesota obviously be perfect. And I can tell you this, like Kevin o' Connell has looked at these sorts of reclamation projects over the last couple of months in anticipation of being here and they had such success resurrecting Sam Darnold's career a couple years ago that they're really interested in doing that with someone again. So my guess would be like, where your guess is that he winds up with the Minnesota Vikings, but I think Geno Smith could wind up being a factor there, too. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out.
Dan Patrick
I bring up Jerry Jones, not to troll anybody here, but he's the one who was all in last year and then he's going to bust the budget this year. What are they waiting on? Because I think they were in the Max Crosby sweepstakes.
Albert Breer
They were. They were until the end. Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Albert Breer
I would say one name to keep an eye on for them would be. Would be Trey Hendrickson, especially if the market comes down a little bit like it seems to have. They did take care. They did address the edge rusher question, which is the biggest question for them coming into this offseason in going and trading for Sean Gary. But I wouldn't be surprised if they're not necessarily done there yet. They've got a young player they really like and Donovan as a Rocco who was a rookie last year. So I think you could wind up seeing an addition there. They've obviously got the money tied up in George Pickens on the franchise tag. They paid Javante Williams and they did make the run at Max Crosby. I could also see them doing something at corner here in the next day or two. So I don't think they're done. But they did make a move right before the start of free agency and trading for Gary and I. And I think Rashawn Gary's better than some of the edge rushers that went out that, that, that, that got paid out there in the market. And if they wind up with both Gary and Hendrickson, well, now you're talking about kind of reimagining who you are on the defensive front, especially if a guy like Ezra can take another step. So free agency is not over yet. We're not even 24 hours in. So, you know, I think that. I think the Cowboys defense is going to look significantly different by the time we get to the beginning of May when the draft is over. And, and, and, and maybe we'll see another move or two as part of that in the next day or two.
Dan Patrick
Good to talk to you as always. Know you're busy. Thank you, Albert.

I ran down the DraftKings odds after yesterday's soup, the free agency frenzy for the super bowl odds. The Rams are your favorite, followed by the Seahawks and the Ravens. They're tied. Then it's the Bills, Chiefs, Packers, Niners, Eagles, Chargers, Lions and Fritz. He wanted to know One of our callers wanted to know where the Broncos. Well, the Patriots are next, then the Texans. Then it's the Broncos, Jags and Bears. Then it's the Bengals. Bengals have better odds than the Cowboys and the Buccaneers and the Steelers and the Vikings and the Colts and the Commanders. Wow. So you start to look, I guess it's surprising now. I will be surprised if the Patriots make the playoffs this year. I just think there'll be a little bit of a dip. But they're probably 11th best odds. Then the Texans, they're actually tied with the Patriots, and then the Broncos as well. And as one of the callers said, hey, you know, we're a healthy ankle away from going to the super bowl. And you're probably right. The Jags, Jags at plus 2500. The Bears plus 2500. Then you got the Bengals plus 3000 account. Cowboys plus 3500. But the Buccaneers and the Steelers, Steelers at plus 5000. Vikings plus 6000. That'll improve once they get Kyler Murray. In my opinion, the Steelers, I'm assuming Aaron Rodgers will be back. I don't know if there's any possibility he could go elsewhere or the Steelers would entertain Kyler Murray. But Albert Brea, the Monday morning quarterback, joined us last hour and he said Kyler wants to go to the Vikings. It's just a question of do the Vikings want him. All right, poll question for the final hour of the program. Seaton it's going to be what?
Seaton
We got many. We got a million of them up there right now. Maybe some of our most eclectic slash diverse poll questions. Okay, one from Paul, who had the best day yesterday? Right now, Malik Willis has about 49% of that vote, followed by Fernando Mendoza.
Paul
Yes, Paul did beyond financially. He was going to get paid anywhere. Did Malik Willis's career get better? Noticeably better?
Dan Patrick
Well, he has a chance to be a starting quarterback on a team that
Paul
had a fire sale and has very few weapons left in the cupboard. I don't know.
Seaton
It feels.
Dan Patrick
Are you saying he should have stayed in Green Bay as a backup quarterback instead of going to Miami?
Paul
No, I would say. Was there a better football option out there? Because the money would have probably been equal.
Dan Patrick
I don't think there is unless he was going to go to Arizona because it feels like the Vikings are going to go with Kyler Murray. Do you want to go to Arizona or do you want to go to Miami? I mean, yes.
Seaton
I mean, if you look at the teams that were maybe interested in him. Right. At the Dolphins, Cardinals, Browns, jets,
Paul
maybe
Seaton
with the Steelers, I suppose could have been maybe the Vikings, but maybe. Maybe they weren't. Maybe that money wasn't right. You know, this might have been. We might think that there were more people interested in them than. Than there really were.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. And the money, I mean, it's not a lot to get a guy who's going to be a starting quarterback. Three years and it's 67 and a half million dollars total. That's pretty good. Pretty good.
Seaton
Especially since he just spent 350 million for one year at Tua. It's a unbelievable bargain.
Dan Patrick
Not. Not exactly that, but close. My numbers might be off a little, but you know. Yes.
Paul
Paul, next year to. Will make $56.5 million. 55. I double check this. He's going to make 56.5 Tua next year. 55 from Miami, 1.5 from Atlanta. Malik Willis will make 23 million next year. Fernando Mendoza will make 33.5 million. That combines for 56 million.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. So it was a wild day yesterday from start to finish. And still, you know, Trey Hendrickson could end up with the Cowboys. Kyler Murray, he's going to be released tomorrow and I think he'll end up with the Vikings. The Malik Willis to the Dolphins. I wasn't surprised that he went there. I was kind of surprised at the philosophy of the Dolphins. Why not just let Quinn Ewers play and then you'll be in the market for a franchise. Quarterback next year. Probably what Arizona is thinking. They brought in Gardner Minshew there, so feels like they'll have a room full of backup quarterbacks that somebody has to start there. I like what the Raiders did. They spent some money, but it. It's only the first day, and, you know, there'll be bits and pieces to fill in. But also, what does this mean for certain teams with the draft? That's what interests me. Probably more so as we move into the second and third day of free agency. Right. So new poll questions. Seaton, or did you just clean up the previous questions?
Seaton
That was one. We got a bunch more here. Here's one from the mind of Todd Fritz with their latest moves. And if Fernando Mendoza proves to be the real deal, the Raiders are silver and back. Question mark. Right now. Your options there are you betcha or easy there. Easy there right now is at 77% of that vote. Canceling Magic City night was smart or lame Right now the lames have that at 54% of the audience. Let's see. There was another one in here, too, that I can't seem to find, which is a better movie. Wedding Crashers are old school. That is straight up. 50. 50 right now. And whose career would you want? Luke Wilson. Owen Wilson.
Dan Patrick
80.
Seaton
Owen Wilson.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Seaton
Dang. Luke. You're gonna take that?
Dan Patrick
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Marvin
Todd, has Luke been in anything of note very recently? I see him on some phone commercial walking in the desert with a dog. As far as comparing Owen and Luke's
Dan Patrick
career, I don't know what Luke's been in.
Marvin
The recency bias alone. I would go Owen as well.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Owen is in a golf series, I think. Don't know what it's called, but I saw the promotional campaign around that. But I don't know what Luke's been involved in. Yeah, they've been. They carved out some nice careers there. Heck, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Can you do an impersonation if it's only one word, like you did your bread Favre.
Seaton
Every impersonation I have is.
Dan Patrick
Is essentially, there's one. One word. Yeah.
Marvin
Course. Course.
Albert Breer
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
All right, we'll get to some phone calls here. Quiet day so far with free agency. Congratulations to Troy and Furman. They have punched their tickets to that big dance team USA dropped Mexico. And that was fun to watch it. It is. It's one of those where I go, I don't know if I want to watch. And then I watch and I go, why do I say, I don't know if I want to watch? It. I'm, I'm watching Korea against Australia and I'm going, all right, the environment is pretty good. Pretty good. And now Team usa, I think they have Italy coming up. Is that right? And you throw out the records when those two get together, you just never know if Italy known for their baseball.
Seaton
Italian baseball is no joke.
Amber Grimes
Okay?
Dan Patrick
Yes, Marvin, but here's the thing.
Marvin
The Italians, are they Italian Americans or are they like straight from Rome? Like, is it Mike Piazza? Like, you know what? I have great grandfathers that came over from the old country.
Dan Patrick
I don't know, the roster, maybe, maybe look at the roster and see how many players are from the United. Yes, Marvin.
Marvin
I just got word from our expert Mario, that it's a lot of Italian Americans. Okay, so like the Rocco Bordelli's of
Dan Patrick
the world, Rocco Baldelli. Okay. Yes, Paul.
Paul
I had the Italy baseball roster up on my screen at all times, but it's, it's probably 2/3 USA born. Quickly looking at it, there's actually players that are born in both Canada and Venezuela on Italy roster, which is interesting. So I would say it's mostly USA born players.
Dan Patrick
Sunday night basketball and NBC and Peacock, every Sunday night you got Knicks in the Warriors. Sunday night on NBC. And Peacock, we talked a little bit about sga, hitting the game winner last night. And he had a stat line that only one other player we believe in NBA history, at least when they started keeping these stats, LeBron James, where he went for 35, 15 and no turnovers. Also hitting the game winner, Tony in California leads us off final hour. Hey, Tony. Hey, guys. Good morning. Oh, I'm so incredibly happy, man. The Clippers beat the Knicks to reach 500. Slid into the eighth spot. I'm a believer. We're so good now. Even when we lose to the spurs, we make Wemby cry. And he said, quote, it was the toughest game of my career. That's the most physical team in the league. I'm a believer. Dan, I know you're still a little incredulous. I'm gonna have to wait. I'm gonna play the long game with the, the Clippers there. I'm just curious, what happens to Kawhi Leonard after, you know, they do that investigation? I don't know what the commissioner is waiting on, but it feels like Pablo Torres still kind of trolling the commissioner of what are you waiting for here with Kawhi Leonard? And somehow does he end up a free agent? Let's see. How about Zach and Knoxville? Hi, Zach. What's on your mind today? Thanks for taking my call. Pretty sure that all that Magic City gear is going to the same place that the 180 Patriots Super bowl gear is going. There was a story on ESPN years ago about how they send that out to Africa or, you know, certain places are.
Cino
So there's going to be a bunch
Dan Patrick
of kids walking around with some Magic City swag. And I was just wondering if, you know, you remember you had that conversation with Jonah Hill about if he was, you know, if he's not as funny, if he. Since he got skinnier, do you think it would have the reverse effect on Todd? If Todd got skinnier, he might be funnier.
Marvin
Wow. Wow.
Dan Patrick
I. I didn't expect that from Zach.
Marvin
You don't get funnier when you get skinny. And that was totally unnecessary to draw any kind of connection between your story.
Dan Patrick
God. Zach gets it.
Seaton
Zach gets it.
Marvin
A little bit of a reach just
Dan Patrick
to take a shot. How about we try it, Todd?
Marvin
Well, that's something I should be working on, humor or not. I should be working on dropping some lbs. But I find it hard to believe that as you get slimmer, you would become funnier. That just doesn't seem like that would happen. There's very few funny, well, Jerry Seinfeld, but you want to see someone that's, like, kind of out of shape and sweaty and angry and sarcastic, so. Well, how come I'm not funny?
Seaton
Dave Chappelle's not chubby, and Adam, you know, Chris Rock's not chubby.
Marvin
Yeah.
Seaton
People with, you know, are you calling Will Ferrell fan?
Marvin
I think it's easier probably to laugh with and at somebody if they got good material and you're like, thank goodness I don't look like that, and they're saying something funny, they got a better chance of getting some chuckles.
Dan Patrick
Okay. All right. Thank you, sir.
Paul
Yeah.
Marvin
Thanks, Zach.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Yes, Paul.
Paul
You could go the other way, Todd, and put on 20 and see if he can get even more funny.
Marvin
Yeah. How desperate am I to get a laugh that I just go eat even more calories?
Dan Patrick
Yeah. That was a rough moment when I'm bringing that up to Jonah Hill because he had lost weight, and I. I was just curious. Do people look at you differently? I wasn't saying you're not as funny. I was saying, do people look at you?
Seaton
He didn't appreciate that.
Dan Patrick
No, he didn't.
Seaton
He did not appreciate that was his last appearance on the show.
Dan Patrick
Yes. Yes. And I think Will Ferrell likes to remind me of that moment with Jonah.
Seaton
That was unfortunate.
Albert Breer
Yes.
Dan Patrick
Yes.
Paul
Paul, this might be irony but if you remember the movie Funny People with Sandler, Jonah Hill's Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill's character says something about Zach, about Rogan's character. You're. You're not as funny now that you're in shape or something like that. He actually says that in the movie because in the movie he gets in shape.
Dan Patrick
Maybe that's where I got it from.
Paul
I remember that line from the movie. I don't remember exactly the line, but
Dan Patrick
I remember Jonah Hill going, dan, are you really gonna ask me that? I went, yep, yes.
Seaton
You know, not to sort of pile on, but it was right around the same era that you asked a college football coach if their weight impacted their
Dan Patrick
ability to recruit, and they didn't appreciate that either.
Paul
I remember the name and the.
Seaton
I do too. I was just trying to leave that out. But they also did not appreciate that question.
Dan Patrick
And that's why we don't win a sports Emmy right there. You know, I giveth and I take it away. Anywho.
Marvin
Yes, Todd, not everybody gets your sense of humor. That's what it all comes down to. Your wife says it. Everybody says it. They say, come on, just kind of loosen up a little bit.
Dan Patrick
Do you think I'm too thin to be funny?
Marvin
Me personally, I'd left a lot of things you said over the years. I don't think, wait, as I'm your
Dan Patrick
boss, I'm your boss.
Marvin
Yeah. But that being said, you know, we've given taken shots at each other over the last 20 plus years, so that doesn't get in the way of that.
Dan Patrick
But if I gain £20 will be hilarious. Thank you. Dan in Naples. Hi, Dan. What's on your mind today? Quick question for Marv. Based on your buffalo take, do you think Dax fiance and her fans are happier with her second round exit, or do you think they would have been happier, you know, making it to the big show? I'll hang up and listen. So Dak Prescott and his fiance have broken up. Would you rather just be dating or make it all the way to out? You have a bachelor bachelorette party and then all of a sudden you decide you're not getting married. Marvin.
Marvin
Well, they didn't get married, so he probably. He won in this, in this scenario.
Dan Patrick
Right.
Marvin
So you'd rather do.
Dan Patrick
Did she win?
Marvin
I'm talking about that.
Dan Patrick
So, Dad, I don't know what happened in this relationship.
Marvin
I don't either.
Dan Patrick
They both, they both had their bachelor bachelorette parties, and then all of a sudden they announced that they weren't getting married.
Marvin
Yes, Todd yes, can of worms. But we're kind of what we're hinting at and dancing around the elephant in the room. Would you sign a prenup or expect your future spouse to sign a prenup? Is kind of what we're saying.
Dan Patrick
TMZ debunked that story.
Paul
Yeah, full debunking.
Dan Patrick
Debunking. Harvey Levin debunked. Debunked that.
Marvin
Still a fun question to ask.
Dan Patrick
Okay. If your wife made a whole lot of money, would you sign a prenup? Todd, I would be.
Marvin
I'd be offended at first. Like, really? We're already planning on getting divorced and you're like, you're worried about me taking half. But if I really loved her, and
Dan Patrick
I would probably go, she's got a billion dollars, but you have to sign a prenup.
Marvin
And she's like smoking hot and everything and all that kind of thing, and I'm just really head over heels. There's no other on the planet.
Dan Patrick
I don't know what she looks like.
Cino
I like that.
Seaton
Right now you're. You're debating whether you should sign a prenup if this smoking hot billionaire wanted.
Marvin
Because I don't know what I'm gonna get in the future. This may be my only chance for me. But I would. I would sign it, I guess. Yeah, I would sign it.
Dan Patrick
All right.
Paul
Yes, Paul, I think I would sign it. If I married someone who had a gigantic career financially before we met. And in a prenup, you still get something you. It's not. You walk out with a zero.
Dan Patrick
Well, a lot of times you get paid with each year of marriage. So let's say you get a million dollars with each year of marriage. Then you get to 25 years and you get a 10 million dollar bonus. Seaton prenup you sign. Would I? Of course. Yeah. Yeah, Yeah, I would too.
Seaton
It's really not a big deal to me.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, it's her money. She made it. I'm fine, you know, but I'll. Now would you ask somebody to sign a pre. Let's say you're worth a billion. Todd, would you ask your fiance to sign a prenup?
Marvin
I would say, can you just sign something for me? And I wouldn't, you know, just like kind of block out, redact what's on there. No, I would. I probably would. I would ask for. If she wouldn't mind signing that.
Dan Patrick
But you're offended. But you, you'd be offended if your wife and your.
Marvin
Yes, initially. Initially, I'd be like, I'd be Offended would be my initial reaction. Like, you're worried about me. That's why I'm in this, because I want half your money if this doesn't work out. And then I would calm down and say, yeah, where do I sign? Yes, Marvin, if she helped me build the billionaire. No. But if I come in already as a billionaire. Yes.
Dan Patrick
Prenup.
Marvin
Yes, sir.
Dan Patrick
All right, let's take a break and we'll get more phone calls.
Marvin
You got one?
Dan Patrick
No, no, I didn't make any money when I met my wife.
Seaton
It'd be an awkward conversation to have now, though.
Dan Patrick
Yes.
Seaton
I'm just thinking, what do we get
Dan Patrick
our paperwork in order? What do you think about a previous.
Seaton
That would be an awkward one. Now, at this point in the game,
Paul
are releasing a car. What's this paperwork?
Seaton
This is a bad idea.
Marvin
Yeah, Post nup.
Dan Patrick
You know, it'd be. It'd be a tough initial conversation, but no, I. I didn't make any money. She didn't make any money. She can have it all. When I go, she can have it all. I don't care.
