Listening to the Dan Patrick show on Fox Sports Radio. If you buy into the adage when the Cowboys lose, America wins, you're having a great season. Texans handled the Cowboys and The Texans now 7 and 4. The Cowboys dropped to 3 and 7 after three straight 12 win seasons. The sky is falling in Dallas, literally and figuratively. The team came in with playoff aspirations, maybe super bowl aspirations, but here we are 10 games deep and it's time to accept the Cowboys for who they really are. It's a poorly built team that continues to fail to get out of its own way. They were embarrassed last night at home. So they're in the same conversation with the Patriots and the Panthers. Nobody saw this one coming. The star on the helmet continues to keep Dallas in the news and they will continue to hear about Micah Parsons contract. We'll hear about the prospects of teams or players that the team has fallen in love with with the draft. Jerry world maybe wanting to tear down the stadium and build a new stadium and part of the roof was falling and caving in last night. But the relationship with the Cowboys is always interesting because you either love them or you hate them. There's no middle ground. And what you're seeing right now, this is a juicy little payback to all those victories and all the attention that they receive for a 3, 7 team. We'll start with CD Lamb talking about what it's like to play for the Cowboys. And when you face these opponents each.
Peter Schrager
Week, obviously everybody is looking to embarrass us. Right.
Dan Patrick
They have their opportunity. When they do, they try to, you.
Peter Schrager
Know, put us out. And we had so much success over.
Dan Patrick
The last three years as far as in the regular season. It's starting to bite us right now. So for us we gotta find ways.
Peter Schrager
We gotta find ways to gel together, play together and finish this thing out.
Chase Daniel
Yeah, you know, the TV executives have to be ringing their hands because they love Dallas. You got Dallas and the Giants, the annual Thanksgiving Day game. Then you have two prime time games on Monday night. You got week 14 against the Bengals and then you have week 16 against the Buccaneers. We love watching Dallas and those who love watching Dallas succeed and those watching Dallas fail, you get a whole lot of one and a little bit of the other one this season. And Cooper Rush did okay last night. He's kind of non threatening. I don't know if they get to the point where they go, let's just see if Trey Lance can play football. You gave up a fourth round pick, which doesn't sound like a lot, but in the NFL, that's a big deal. Look at the receivers who have been traded for fourth round picks this year. Maybe see if Trey Lance can play and then if not, maybe you're moving on from him and Cooper Rush. But you're watching that Dallas team and you keep waiting for something to happen. It's not going to happen. And Mike McCarthy is basically just kind of, you know, twisting in the wind. And Jerry will bring in somebody next year, but there's bigger pictures. And we'll go back months and months ago, maybe last year, and Seton first brought this up. He said, you know, Dallas has a problem because they have a guy who's going to make 50 or 60 million dollars at quarterback. They got a wide receiver going to make $30 million. And then you have a defensive player who's probably going to be or want to be the highest defensive player in the game. As far as how he's paid, you would think that's a good problem, but it's not because of how the team is built, the other positions and they don't have a running game. And it is, you know, I look at the Texans, Joe Mixon was a great pickup. Now, America is never going to embrace him for what happened off the field when he was in college. But he was good with the Bengals and he was really good last night. This really helped CJ Stroud, and CJ Stroud has regressed a little bit, but the Texans are still a playoff caliber team in a really, really bad division. But you're watching last night and the Texans do have some playmakers there. Nico Collins, when he plays, they play well. But Dallas has lost five home games, the first five home games for the first time since 1989, and they're getting blown out. They're giving up 37 points per game at home. The last time that happened, a team gave up that many points per game through five games. 1981. And if you go back to the playoff loss, you know, we may have looked at the loss to Green Bay last year as an aberration in the, you know, playoffs, but it wasn't. Because if you go back to that loss, the Cowboys have lost six in a row at home and they've trailed by at least 20 points in each of their six home losses. Like, these are, these are numbers that you never would have thought with Dallas, whether you like them or not. And this isn't all just, hey, Dak got injured. This is A bad team. They chose to bring back Zeke Elliott. They're just not, they don't. They're a one dimensional team and now with that dimension being Cooper Rush, you're not going to beat anybody. Now I'm looking at the schedule and they have a chance to salvage. What do you guys think the over under is according to DraftKings victories for the Dallas Cowboys. Marvin, I'll start with you. They have three. How many wins over under Cowboys?
Dan Patrick
Five and a half.
Chase Daniel
Bloop, bloop, bloop.
Dan Patrick
Wow.
Chase Daniel
Wow. Yep, five and a half. The same as the jets, the Bears, they're over under six and a half. How about the Chiefs over unders 14 and a half. And I, and I did want to pick up on that with the Chiefs because we're going to see the Chiefs and the Bills probably again. And is Buffalo going to. They're 9 and 2 and Kansas City is 9 and 1. If we start to play this out now with the final, you know, six or seven games. So Kansas City's at the Panthers, they host the Raiders, they host the Chargers, they're at the Browns, host the Texans, they're at the Steelers. Two losses maybe in there. Buffalo has two losses right now, so Kansas City would end up with three losses. Buffalo hosts San Francisco. They're at the Rams, they're at the Lions. Then they host the Patriots. Jets. Patriots. Are they going to have one or two more losses and if they get to four losses, they're going to be going to Kansas City probably for the AFC title game. Seems like a foregone conclusion in the NFC with the class being the Detroit Lions. And I don't know if the Eagles are a close second, but feels like, I don't think we're, we're quite sure what to make of the San Francisco 49ers. A lot of talent. They've had injuries. They are generic right now in last place. Couple other things that happened. The Ravens may be bringing in competition for Justin Tucker. The Giants head coach has to answer a really tough question on why he's benching Daniel Jones and Doug Peterson on the hot seat in Jacksonville. All righty. Seton, what's poll question today?
Kyle Brandt
Well, I was going to start with one here. Best bad team. Who's the best bad team right now? The Dolphins are at 4 and 6. They feel like they should be better than 4 and 6, right?
Chase Daniel
I like the Dolphins. Yes, I do. I think they're, I think they're a good team kind of disguised as a bad team.
Kyle Brandt
We're going to have to remove some teams from this actually. The Bengals, they're 4 and 7. They're a good bad team, right?
Paul Pabst
They're a high end bad team.
Chase Daniel
Yeah. Yeah. Who else would you put in there?
Kyle Brandt
Well, we can put the Cowboys on there. They're three and seven.
Chase Daniel
No, no, we're not going to do that. We can't do that. Unless you say this is. Put an asterisk by it and say this is just for clicks. Yes.
Kyle Brandt
Doesn't it feel like they should be a better team than what they are? I mean, their records, I don't think they're different than the Bengals or the Dolphins. I didn't like do it.
Chase Daniel
They're not threatening though, right? No, no, I'm joking about putting them on there. They're. They're not threatening. They're getting blown out. They're getting blown out at home. They're not even competitive. So it's not like they're a good team that, you know, has a bad record. Like the Dolphins don't have a winning record, but I think they're good. The Bengals are at least competitive. They don't have a good record, but I think that they, they can be competitive. Yes. Paul? Yeah.
Paul Pabst
The Bengals have a top five offense and they're in every game. The Cowboys offense is ranked 25th and their defense is ranked 31st. They're non threatening, but then I'll throw in a team in the poll. Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 4 and 6. They've outscored their opponents by 13 points this year, but they're 4 and 6 and they've lost four in a row. But they feel like they could beat anybody on a good night. They're in every game.
Chase Daniel
Yeah. Okay. I could see them in there. Any other suggestions? Yes.
Kyle Brandt
Yeah. Well, The Saints are 4 and 7, but they feel much different than the Buccaneers at 4 and 6. Right, right.
Chase Daniel
The Saints did beat the Buccaneers. They did.
Paul Pabst
Which is weird.
Chase Daniel
Just recently. Yeah.
Kyle Brandt
We'll put them on pause. How about Paul's Chicago Bears? They're out, right? They're not competitive. Okay.
Chase Daniel
Yeah.
Kyle Brandt
How about the Colts at 5 and 6?
Chase Daniel
Well, there's. They're still in the playoff hunt, so I guess I have to. I have to begrudgingly acknowledge that the Colts are maybe a playoff team.
Kyle Brandt
I think that was one of my preseason hot takes, was the Colts make the playoffs.
Chase Daniel
Okay.
Kyle Brandt
All right, well, let's see. We've got five teams right now and we have room for four, so Dolphins, Bengals, Colts, Buccaneers, Saints.
Chase Daniel
Let's take the Saints off.
Kyle Brandt
No offense.
Chase Daniel
Yeah, I'll take the Saints off there.
Kyle Brandt
Yeah, they're out. My favorite stat of the day, by the way is that the U.S. men's National Team have won more games at AT&T Stadium this year than the Dallas Cowboys have.
Tamara Judge
This is the stat of the day.
Chase Daniel
Thank you, Melissa Etheridge. Stat of the day brought to you by Panini America. The official trading cards of the program. 877.3dp. Show operator tighter sitting by. Thank you for downloading the app. So Matt Leinert next hour and former backup quarterback with the Saints, Chase Daniel a little bit later on as well. Basketball Cavaliers against the Celtics coming up tonight. Also the Pirates, Paul Skenes won the National League Rookie of the year. And if you were confused about the Yankees Louise Gill winning the American League rookie of the Year, you're not alone. It was his third year in the majors. He didn't have enough starts to qualify. He's 26 years of age. Remember when Ichiro came over and I think he won, what, the MVP and rookie of the year? He was like 26 or 27, and he had been playing against good competition in Japan for like five years. Luis Gill was 26. Yes, Paul.
Paul Pabst
Second only to algebra. Things I don't understand. Rookie eligibility in Major League Baseball. Now, Luis Gill, 2021, he started six games. 2022, he started a game and played bunch of innings. Not a bunch, a few innings. Then he was off a year back in the minors. And then in 2024, he played a full season with 30 starts. But somehow he's a rookie.
Tamara Judge
That seems.
Paul Pabst
I know whatever rules there are, he's eligible. It feels weird.
Chase Daniel
Should, should age factor in to being rookie of the Year? I mean, it's his third season. Yes, Todd, I don't know about age.
Dan Patrick
But once you're getting up to the.
Chase Daniel
Third, fourth season of play, even if.
Dan Patrick
It'S not, even if you didn't hit.
Chase Daniel
A minimum number of games, it's like college football. Plays with the Red Shir, his ninth year playing for the college team. Well, now when you watch the NCAA tournament, March Madness, you'll be like, wait a minute. That's like the fourth stop for that. Is he like 25? Yes. Mark Hunter Dickinson from Kansas basketball. He's as old as I am. He's over there like, man, I'm a grown man. Yes, yes, very much so.
Paul Pabst
He's not eligible for freshman of the year in the Big 12 or something. I don't think anymore. I think he's past that. That, that riff.
Chase Daniel
Wait, wait.
Dan Patrick
It's newcomer of the year.
Chase Daniel
Did he win newcomer of the year at Kansas? Checking. Last year. Yeah. Check on that if you can.

But he's joining us on behalf of Abbott, sharing more about the We Give Blood drive and in conjunction with the Big Ten. We'll have Matt explain that coming up in a moment. Good to see you again. How do you think your career would be different, if any, if you came out now as opposed to when you did?
Dan Patrick
That's a great question. I probably wouldn't get drafted. I wouldn't have got drafted, Dan, because I couldn't fit in the style of offenses that are played now. So it's, it's, it's a different world of football and I see it at the, at the lowest levels from flag football, youth tackle football. I'm watching my son play high school football who just committed to SMU in the last couple of weeks was pretty cool. So the game has really shifted from, just from my personal style of play. I think probably I would have been okay. But you know, you got to be able to move, you got to be able to do a lot of other things in this day and age of football, which was something that I was very limited in. Maybe I would have pitched in baseball probably.
Chase Daniel
But are the days of the drop back passer gone or kind of becoming extinct?
Dan Patrick
It's a good question. I mean, look, I'm still, maybe this is just the traditional, I'm still a believer that you have to win from the pocket. You have to win from between the tackles. You have to be able to, you know, pick up or be able to throw when you're getting blitzed inside and take those hits. I don't think you can run around and just make plays. All that being said, a lot of these guys now, and obviously Mahomes is a great example, like can do that, but they can also do more, you know, and that was, that was the biggest difference, I think. I think if you look at today's age, you know, you look at someone like Aaron Rodgers, who obviously is at the tail end of his career and never was considered a statue in the pocket, but he would run when he had to. He was a great athlete. He might be like the last of the guys that just would really prefer to stay in there and throw from the pocket, but that's how you win a lot of games. So it is interesting that that position is just completely evolved and changed over the last decade and, and you're seeing it played at a very, very high level. It's just different than what we're used to. You know, there's no more under center play action really. Jared Goff, you know, Jared Goff is a person that I look at and it's like he's, he's kind of one of those like Last of the Mohicans who is not going to run. He's going to make his living from the pocket, but he's got that system around him in the way they're doing it. So it's interesting the way it's evolved into what it is.
Chase Daniel
And Matthew Stafford, you could throw him in there. It's weird how people have fallen in love with Matthew Stafford almost overnight. Like, when you have these younger quarterbacks there, they look up to him. CJ Stroud and Caleb Williams, they're like, man, I love Matthew Stafford. What is it about Stafford now? He was great against the Patriots, you know, four touchdown passes. But what is it about Stafford, though, that maybe is different than these maybe pocket quarterbacks?
Dan Patrick
He. It's such a great question because I feel like he's maybe the. One of the most underrated quarterbacks that we've seen in the last 15, 20 years, at least since he's playing. He's the number one pick out of Georgia. Was. Was. I don't want to say stuck in Detroit, but was in Detroit for most of his career, so won games, but never really, you know, the playoffs and all that. But the dude is the toughest, one of the toughest players you ever meet. He just, you know, I think he's one of those guys, like, he has the elite arm strength, he moves. He has all of those traits. And, like, I don't know, it's like, you know, it's one of those guys that all these young kids are like, oh, we love Stafford. And I think I. It's like. I think it's his toughness. I think it's the longevity. I think it's all of these things. I don't think people realize, like, he took a beating in Detroit. You know, you have some of those highlights where he's playing with, like. Like. Like, he is just one of those dudes that is like, this should be in the hall of Fame. Like, I hope he's won a Super bowl and he will play. Yeah, I think so, too. And he's still playing at a high level. And it's interesting because in that generation, you know, you look at kind of like, obviously Brady, and then you look at, like, Mannings, and all of those guys breeze and, you know, guys that I, early in my career, I played with and kind of look up to because that was what the quarterbacks looked like. Roethlisberger was. Was a little bit of a different type of player when he was playing, but Stafford is kind of just like, stood the test of time, you know, part of that, but also part of this new generation of players. And I think he's just really. When he went to la, he really started to gain the respect of his peers, I think, you know, and that's why a lot of these guys like to Emulate their game after him.
Chase Daniel
If I said you could pick, you can be Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes.
Dan Patrick
I mean, I mean Patty. Heavy Patty Mahomes. Give me a couple rings. Dan, come on. You remember we lost, we lost to the Steelers in the super bowl, man. San Antonio Holmes are outside. It would have had her. I would have had a ring as a backup quarterback, which would have been fantastic. But you know what I. I love. I don't.
Chase Daniel
Are you nervous about getting in the Super Bowl?
Dan Patrick
Like, if you want to hear. Okay, so Dan, you want to hear a great story? So we're, we're in that super bowl, right? Which was a great one. And we score. Kurt throws a little in route and Larry splits the safeties, right? Runs for like 70 yards. We go up with a couple minutes left. Ben just marches down, he throws that incredible throw to San Antonio Holmes in the back of the end zone. There was, I don't know, say 30 seconds. There was enough time for us to maybe move. And I think, I think we needed a touchdown to win. Kurt got, I think on one play, Kurt got hurt. His shoulder on like a sack and there was still time left. And I don't if basically what was going to happen is if it was an incomplete class or whatever. The clock stopped. I was going in on the last play to throw a damn Hail Mary to try to win the super. Because he couldn't throw. He had like, he banged his. I think Lamar Woodley got him or something on the outside. So I'm sitting there, I think Todd Haley was our OC at the time. And I'm like, oh, my God, I'm starting to warm up. I'm about to have to throw a 55 yard bomb to win the game. Could you imagine if that would have happened and they caught a touchdown but you did. I'd be going to Disneyland. Yeah. No, I didn't get it. It was incredible though, man. That was. Yeah, go ahead.
Chase Daniel
But, you know, no, warm up. It's not like they let you go to the bullpen. Like you're trying to loosen up your arm. You're on the sidelines, you know, in.
Dan Patrick
That moment, adrenaline, I probably would have chucked at 60 yards for sure. Any other day, you know, probably not, but that one, just going out there and to heave it, I would have got it there for sure. It was about a 55 yard throw, which I could have handled.
Chase Daniel
He's Matt Leitert and you can see him. The Fox Sports big noon kickoff. You got Indiana and Ohio State. Now Ohio State. There's been some kind of blowback on why are we always playing these noon games. Now, I understand pregame, right into the game. Does Ohio State have a legitimate beef that maybe they should play later in the afternoon or in the evening?
Dan Patrick
Well, I mean, you got to remember too, that the, you know, again, this is above my pay grade. I know the last couple weeks and getting a lot of the fans have been upset essentially because it, in their eyes, gives their team an advantage, whether it's the wide out Penn State, which, Which I get as a, As a college football fan as well. You know, Fox and the big noon strategy started a handful of years ago to own that window and to be the big game in the morning when we all wake up and we sit on the couch for 12 hours to watch college football. And it's been a great. It's been great for Fox, I think. I think it has been overall great for fans in college football because you're getting a big, big 10 game or whatever it is in that, in that slot for us as big new kickoff. You know, we go where we go in the shows and we try to promote and give a great show and give the fans what they want. So some of that is, A lot of that is out of my control, personally. Out of our control as a show. But the games have been great. I think Gus, Joel and Jenny on the game side, doing a tremendous job. They're the best in college football, in my opinion. And we just kind of. We kind of, we kind of do what we don't. So, So I can understand when fans are upset and they want all day and they want the night game and all that, but it is what it is and it's worked for us.
Chase Daniel
If I said that we were going to play backyard football, big noon kickoff versus game day.
Dan Patrick
Why are you trying to stir the pot, Dan? Come on. Those are my bot. Those are my. But listen, I would say game day. Game day is the staple of college football. They've been doing it for a long, long time.
Chase Daniel
Those guys over there talking flag football. Flag football? Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Oh, we. Oh, we're. We're a lot younger than those guys. Remember, we got, you know, we got Mark Ingram who just, who could still play. I just hand the ball off to him. And I'm not sure anybody, anybody over there is. Is if Mark would want to play tackle football. I'm sure, you know, McAfee would want to play tackle football, too. He's. He's a little crazy, but.
Chase Daniel
Okay. But, but are you starting over, Brady Quinn.
Dan Patrick
You know what? I'll play receiver. That's fine. I'll let him. Actually, actually, I got two new hips, Dan, so I don't know if I could be playing receiver. I. Brady at tight end. No one's getting in front of that train either. Hey, guess what, Dan, real quick, real quick, I want to say this because last time I saw you, I think me and Jerry were on the show Ferrari for throwbacks. Yeah, we got a big, big shooting competition today, basketball. We've been talking a lot of smack online. I just want to let you know we're going to be at USC later. A little three point shot. Who you got, man? Who you think's winning that one?
Chase Daniel
You. You. Thank you.
Dan Patrick
I appreciate it. Thank you. That's all. I just wanted to, I, I told Jerry to turn on the show the morning to watch, so I give him, I give him a little plug.
Chase Daniel
Explain how you got Kobe's jersey over your shoulder.
Dan Patrick
So a great question. So Kobe, my all time favorite athlete. I met Kobe in Newport Beach. It's where he lived and we had a mutual friend. So I met him years and years and years ago. I actually met him when I was at USC and all those things. But I really got to know him outside of that world at like barbecues down in Newport, all these things, just on a different level and became, you know, some somewhat friends. You know, when I saw him and all those things and I just, I asked for, I was like, hey, would you sign this? Whatever. And then that's how I got that. And then it's, you know, obviously when he passed away, I had seen him, my son, my oldest son plays basketball too, as well as football. And we were playing in the made hoops tournament which is this circuit all around the west coast. And Kobe was coaching his daughter and that team in the same circuit on the girls side. And we had seen him earlier in that month of January at the Momba Academy over down in Thousand Oaks for that weekend. It's a weekend of basketball. And then you play a couple weekends later. A couple of weekends later. And I'll, I've had that jersey for years, but I'll just never forget. We were talking for probably 20 minutes. He had seen Cole. He's like, damn, Cole, you grown. Like Cole was already like 6ft in seventh grade or something like that. We were watching him coach his, his daughter and the girls team right there and. And then a couple weeks later, obviously the tragedy happened. But also too, I, you know, know Vanessa fairly well and his, her daughter, the youngest Ones play in our flag football leagues down in Orange county, which is, which has been pretty awesome to have them a part of that too. So Kobe, my all time favorite athlete, I got a chance to know him and obviously we miss him and everybody misses him.
Chase Daniel
Tell me what you're doing with Abbott. The we give blood drive in conjunction with the Big Ten.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. So this is, this is really incredible what Abbott is doing. So they've partnered with all of the Big Ten schools basically to launch a competition to see who can donate the most blood. And the school who donates the most blood gets a million dollars to advanced student or health, community health. So there's a big incentive for people to go out there and not only just support your school and whatever school that may be, but also to give blood and donate. We have a severe, severe blood shortage in this country and millions of people impacted by that. So it's just a really cool campaign and a competition to get people out there to donate. You can go to big10bigten.org Abbott to pick a location, you donate blood, you upload your proof of donation, which is really important out there, who are listening and you pick your school. And it's as simple as that. And the winner will be announced for the Big Ten championship game December 7th. So Abbott's doing an incredible job with this. And again, as I said, the blood shortage is real in this country. So I encourage everybody. I'm actually giving blood this Friday up in Ohio State. We'll be out in Columbus for the game. So I'm going to, I'm going to do that Friday.
Chase Daniel
Give me 60 seconds on the state of USC football.
Dan Patrick
I'm going to need about two hours, but in 60 seconds. 60 seconds we are. And I say we obviously because I'm a, I'm a Trojan, but I'm a fan. I want to see my school do well. It's a, it's a challenging spot right now. You know, the expectation is really high at usc. Lincoln came in three years ago, this is third year, and almost went to a college football playoff. Right. Which was a great year. We fell short in the Pac Pac 12 championship game. And then it sort of tailed off over the last couple years and we knew going into this year, the first year of the Big Ten, it's going to be a challenge and a lot of new pieces on the team and it hasn't been the season. I think he would want, the team would want and the USC fan base. And I would just say big picture, you know, like he knows, he knows what he needs to do. He knows what the expectation is at usc. And I believe with Nil and believe with the talent in Southern California that there is. There's no excuse not to be able to build a championship team. And I think he knows that. So listen, the pulse is. It's tough. There's a lot of people, a lot of fans that are frustrated, and, you know, the mantra kind of like it's the same thing week in and week out, and then that just needs to be changed. And I'm not. I'm not saying anything anybody doesn't know. But USC needs to get better, as plain and simple. They have a chance to beat UCLA this week. They have a chance to play Notre Dame next week and maybe knock them out of the playoffs. So there's still stuff to play for and to kind of create some excitement going into next year.
Chase Daniel
The best team in college football is.
Dan Patrick
The best team, you said.
Chase Daniel
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
I'd say Oregon. I know they're number one, but I just, I, you know, the knock with them is like, I think it's still like, the perception of maybe what they've been in the past, like, a lot of speed but don't have. Like, this is not that, like, Dan Lanning is a real dude. Like, Dan Lanning is an SEC coach. Dan Lanning has built a team like that. They can play with anybody up front and they have the speed to play with anybody. Like in Ohio State and some of these. These teams that have tremendous talent on the outside. And Dylan Gabriel's, I mean, gosh, he's played a lot of football and he's won a lot of games. So I think Oregon is. Is for sure number one. But it is very. This year is fantastic because you have, like, honestly, like, I think you have seven or eight teams like Ole Miss could win the national championship. Georgia, even though they've been up and down, could win. Bama can win. Texas can win Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, for that matter, might have it. Like, you just, like, honestly, I think anybody could beat anybody right now, which is great.
Chase Daniel
He's Matt Leinert. And for more information, bigten.org Abbott. Great to talk to you. Safe travels to Columbus.

Thanks, Dan. Appreciate you, buddy.

And now a co host of the Facility On Fox Sports 1, he joins us on the program. Are you back on the Texans bandwagon, Chase?
Tamara Judge
I mean, I don't know if I ever left. You know what I mean? So they, they had Nico Collins back last night and I was doing some digging and it's pretty easy to see that when the Texans have Nico Collins back, they're 5 and 1. Without Nico Collins, they're 2 and 3. So he's the secret sauce. But I still don't think that our guy CJ's playing very well. He's not seeing it as well. And I think the biggest thing is he's having to let go of the ball a lot sooner because his offensive line sucks, if you just want to say that, because it is. They're like 30th impression rate. So the defense is legit, though. Two touchdowns last night, but it's just they're a weird team to get behind, although I've never really left.
Chase Daniel
I'm wondering about this, and you being a former quarterback, how long does it take the league to get a book on you?
Tamara Judge
Yeah, well, look, there's only so many things a defense can do. They can play cover two, they can blitz. They can play man. So defenses have way less of a playbook, if that makes sense to me. I think what they're doing on defense now to sort of counteract is they're making him stay in the pocket. Like last year, what I saw from him is, like, when stuff broke down, he was able to escape and he was able to make these plays down the field because his receivers were rolling. Now, I think what they're doing a good job of on defense is they're. You call it a must rush. Okay, so a must rush means you're rushing the passer, but you're really not rushing the passer, and you just want to stay in your pass rush lanes. Not a lot of people talk about it, but that frustrates a quarterback because you're taking away your first and second read and you're not able to get out and extend the play. That's what C.J. was so good at last year, and he's turning the ball over more. So I think it's a little bit of both. I think C.J. has to just. I mean, it obviously helped last night. You have Nico Collins, but you just got to go back to sort of the basics on what you're doing, and just like, hey, you got to somehow find a way to get out of the pocket and make those plays down the field. Because I thought last year that's what made him special.
Chase Daniel
How did the Cowboys salvage this season?
Tamara Judge
They can't. There's no way. How, like, where in the world are you going to salvage this season? Like, your starters out?
Chase Daniel
Do you give Trey Lance a chance? Like, what you like? You have to start looking at the future. Mike McCarthy's not going to be there. Do you trade Micah Parson? Like, I don't know. Are you trying to figure out exactly what is their identity now?
Tamara Judge
They. They don't have it. And that's the problem. Like. Like. Right, because that's what Jerry Jones said. Hey, we're all in. In the off season, you know what they did? They signed a long snapper. They didn't go out. They didn't get Derek in here. They didn't get a run game. They didn't do any of this stuff. So in free agency from the start and Then you don't give your head coach, your lame duck head coach, Mike McCarthy a new contract. So why even bring him back? That, like I, I go back to that? Like, you're a lame duck coach. The only way you're keeping your job is if you win the Super Bowl. And this roster is way worse than it was last year. For me, I was on the Trey Lance bandwagon. Like, you trade a fourth round pick for Trey Lance and now he's your backup. He was your third string quarterback. Like, we know what Cooper Rush can do. We don't know what Trey Lance can do. Like, he played pretty bad in the preseason, just wasn't in timing and rhythm. But you put him out there with CD Lamb now. I mean, stuff might change, but it's still, at the end of the day, a quarterback's best friends, a run game. Dak didn't have it. That's why he's turning the football over. Cooper Rush doesn't have it. They're having to throw the ball 50 yards and then, you know, the season's going crazy and haywire when stuff's falling from the ceiling and Brandon Aubrey's missing kicks. Like, that's how I knew this season is over for them.
Chase Daniel
Chase Daniel, the Athletic Scoop City podcast. Also the Chase Daniel show on YouTube and co hosting the facility on Fox Sports 1. Josh Allen's MVP to lose.
Tamara Judge
Oh, yeah, I think so. And people, you know, I said this on air the other day and I got so much blowback, man, because like Lamar Jackson, like, he's having, like, I agree, like Lamar Jackson's having an insane season. But you look at the offense around him and the offensive line, they went out and they secured and the receivers, and he's got an offense around Josh Allen. He's 9 and 2. The bills are 9, 2 for the first time since 1992. And quite honestly, he's doing it with nobody. And that, that doesn't mean any ill will on their skill players. I think James Cook's Dalton Cave missed last game. Keon Coleman missed last game. Amari Cooper's played one or two games since he got traded. He's been hurt. So what Josh has been able to do right now, he's the most valuable player. And people, people sometimes forget it's the most valuable player. It's not the best player. Like I would say the best player right now, even with a bad game is Lamar Jackson. But what Josh is doing and Joe Brady's doing is special. So, I mean, when you beat the Chiefs too, like, just Just sign me up for that Josh Allen experience.
Chase Daniel
If not the Lions in the nfc, then who?
Tamara Judge
No, it's the Lions.
Chase Daniel
It's.
Tamara Judge
It's the Lions. Like for me, I like what the Eagles are doing. However, I still feel strongly that Jalen Hurts is not playing his best football and the Eagles are doing what they're doing offensively because of Saquon Barkley and their offensive line. Like if you take Saquon Bar Barkley off the Eagles, I don't know if they are where they at right now, but when you watch the Lions play, it's there on the different level. Like Ben Johnson, Jared Goff. You could put Jared Goff in the top five of the MVP race even with a five interception game. Like you throw five interceptions at a contender in the Houston Texans and you somehow find a way to win. Like, like it's never been done since night. It's like the last time it's been done is like 1970. You come back from 15, you throw five interceptions. So if I had to pick and I'm just, I'm not all in on the Eagles, I think they're a good team. I think defensively Vick is not getting enough credit for what he's doing, especially since the bye week. But I mean, reluctantly, I'll say the Eagles just to appease you.
Chase Daniel
I never thought we would read a headline or even consider the Ravens making a change at kicker with Justin Tucker. Like, he was the sure thing if, if Mariana. There was a Mariana Rivera of football players or kickers, Justin Tucker would be one of those names. What happens to a kicker like this when all of a sudden he's not who we thought he was?
Tamara Judge
Yeah, I mean, look, Justin Tucker is going to go down as one of the greatest, if not the greatest kickers of all time. I heard Eddie Panera just passed them for the most accurate kicker in NFL history. Right. And it's sort of tough to see like someone like a Mariano Rivera that you just know is going to get it done and struggle. He's already missed as many kicks as he did last year. And it's not even long kicks is these short kicks. It's almost like you have the yips in baseball and it just seems when he's kicking the football, he's not kicking it the way we're all used to. So for like fans, just in general, it's tough. There's really nothing you can do because like when you're at practice with the kickers, like you see him working on the side in the offensive Defense going there's always working outside. They'll come and have one special teams period and kick. It's almost like more mental. I mean it is more mental because physically he can still do it. Right. I think you got to make some long kicks, you got to make a game winning kick or something like that to get it back. But what used to be an automatic 3 is just not anymore and. And the Ravens have lost some games because of it.
Chase Daniel
Yeah. Trying to understand the Caleb Williams situation. Can you, can you put yourself in his position right now of why is he struggling where Bo Nix is lighting it up, Drake May shows more promise and certainly Jaden Daniels.
Tamara Judge
Yeah, I mean you hit it right like Caleb Williams in my opinion is a fourth quarterback right now in terms of play, in terms of development. And I don't want to put too much on coaching but I do agree that like the first four or five games of the year, Shane Waldron, he was calling a very pro style offense, almost like he did with Justin Fields or like what Luke gets, he did with Justin Fields is like almost the same offense where you're under center, your play action, you're trying to do too much at the line of scrimmage. I think you put too much on the rookie and when you do that and you don't have success mentally your mind goes to like can I handle this? Can I handle this league? And he's confident on the outside, right. But you could tell mentally he wasn't seen at the last few games. But I do like what Thomas Brown did. He got back, he's running the football. I think they ran it 30 times in the first half. So while Bears friends are frustrated because really the whole franchise of all the quarterbacks they've had has been frustrating. They've never had a 4,000 yard passer they ever had 35. I get that. But when you go to last game, I am encouraged by what I saw. Mainly because he just took the easy completions, he got the football out of his hands, he didn't take bad sacks, he didn't really turn over. And then when you look at the two games they've lost, right, the Washington Hail Mary game and then this past game where they get a block kick when Caleb needed plays the most in two minute, he made those plays like the last two drives against the Commanders. He won that game for them if they just knocked down the Hail Mary. And then this past game in two minutes he made an amazing third 19 throw, got out of the pocket, he made a crazy 4th and 3 back shoulder throw to Roma Dunes. And then he checked to the game winning what should have been the game winning catch to Keenan Allen in the slot. So he's making progress and I think this is sort of where they should have started. And you got to slowly build his confidence back up.
Chase Daniel
Good to talk to you, Happy, for your success and thanks for joining us.
Tamara Judge
Hey, I got a question.
Chase Daniel
What?
Tamara Judge
What's the deal with Happy Gilmore too, man? Are you. Are you in it and when is it coming out? Like, where. Where's this whole thing going?
Chase Daniel
I'm shooting December 5th, my scene, and I think it's probably going to be fourth of July, like summer blockbuster, but they're keeping it. I only got portions of the script. I only got my part of the script. I don't have the whole script. And Sandler said there's a plot twist and he didn't want me. He said, you can't, Danny. You can't keep a secret. I go, all right, so they only gave me my lines in the. I think I'm shooting December 5th.
Tamara Judge
