B
Happy dating detectives. Monday.
A
Hi Mackenzie.
B
I didn't know we were recording and I said something really inappropriate. So we going we going to edit that out.
A
I mean it's not like we don't say inappropriate things when we knowingly record.
B
I love our podcast and I get so excited whenever we come out with a new episode and this one's going to be fun because, because I told this while I was in LA and then we record the intro separately. But it was really fun to be.
A
It was so fun and I miss MacKenzie undercover episodes. We haven't had one in a while. So this is yet another story where MacKenzie walks in and is like, I wonder if this is going to be interesting. I forgot about the story even just now. She was like, wait, which one did I tell? Like, you've seen so many things that I love. Whenever you're able to like excavate one that you're like, oh yeah, I forgot about that. It's always one of my new favorites. This.
B
It's only because like you everything blurs together and whenever you deal with so many cases it's just like, nah, that one's not fun. And then you learn like people are like wait, what? And then you're like, oh, we will be the judge.
A
We will be the judge of that. And right there are two judges of that. Today we have a special guest with us. This was so exciting because this is a couple co host of a podcast that we've wanted to collaborate with for a long time. We have Griff Stark Ennis as our special guest today. He co hosts the podcast called Petty Crimes. If you don't already listen so good you guys, you have to. So their tagline is a true crime comedy podcast that exclusively investigates non crimes. So it's like petty, you get it but with thoughtful debate and in the juiciest little gossipy stories that you could imagine. And you can submit your non crimes, your petty crimes to them and they will tell you if it's criminal or minimal. Griff co hosts it with Sierra Jane o', Sullivan, who's a writer on Saturday Night Live, so, you know it's going to be funny. And Griff, who joined us in the studio, is an actor, a podcast host. He calls himself a retired model, which he could get back into at any point. And he's also my neighbor and my friend. So I was so excited to get to collab with him because we've. I don't know. I. They also started their show around the same time as us, so it's just been nice to meet other people in the. In the world. And we know that if you love us, you'll love Petty Crimes, and you'll love Griff. He was so funny.
B
I just. I loved being in studio with him because his faces. This is someone who's never met a private investigator. Most people, when they think of PI, they're like, oh, that's in movies and tv. Like, you don't think, oh, that's like, real. But it is real. And so anyways, his faces were hilarious.
A
And can I just say that you picked such a good story for him.
B
It's a funny. You guys, wait till you hear this story like it is. It's so funny.
A
Let's just say we're hitting the club with MacKenzie today.
B
We're going club.
A
We're going clubbing today.
B
Let's get into it. I think it'll be fun.
A
I'm ready. Hi, Griff.
C
Hi.
A
Bye, Griff.
C
Me too. I'm like, I'm nervous. I'm excited.
A
Why are you nervous?
C
Cause our show is so, like, light and stupid, and I feel like I'm ready to.
A
I think you have the wrong idea of us. I think you might think we're a little more serious than we are, which we can be. I think the whole thing with dating detectives is like, yeah, sometimes shit gets real, but we laugh to cope.
C
Yes. Yeah.
A
And with PI undercover stories, MacKenzie undercover stories, it's kind of nice. Cause we're a little more removed.
C
Okay.
A
We're just on surveillance with her.
C
Nice. Wow. All words that sound intense.
A
I guess so.
B
Do you know any private investigators yet?
C
I don't think so. Maybe I do. And I don't know that they are Pisces.
A
Well, a lot of people hear these, and they're like, should I do that? But then I think we're only hearing the fun stuff.
B
Yeah.
A
Cause a lot of times I think they're just sitting in the car.
C
I feel like people probably think that they'd be good PIs because they can, like, Kim K. Google something. But I'M sure it's like, a lot more complicated. Are you sleeping?
B
I'm thinking more of like a Kim Possible, but it's fine.
A
You're not a good sleuth. Yeah, for real, you are.
C
I don't know that I give a shit about sleuthing. Am I allowed to swear on this? Yeah, like, I guess I did sleuth the other day. I suppose a few months ago, someone on a date said something that sparked a little red flag.
B
Femtuition. That's called femmtuition.
C
Oh. Yep. I had that. And I discovered that he. We've talked about this on the show is of episodes called Griff's Grinder Daddy. And he had a full family and kids. And I didn't know that.
B
That is called a dogfish, you guys. That is what a dogfish is. That's what a dogfish. So you know what a catfish is, right? Where like, someone talking to someone online, they're using somebody else's picture. It's not really them. Dogfish is a term that we coined here at the Dating Detectives. That's like, they are this person, but they have another family or they're lying or they're manipulating or they are someone that they say they aren't. There's. They are not who they say they are.
C
Okay, well, I mean, period.
B
And that can be cheaters, but. But for the most part, these are people that are a little bit more.
A
It could be anything.
C
I mean, yeah, he wasn't cheating because they were open. He was just withholding information, which is what we presented to our audience. I was like, yeah, is it criminal or minimal that he didn't?
A
That's a great question.
C
Say that he was open or had a partner before he came over for a date.
B
Yeah.
A
What'd you land on?
C
You know, it's interesting. All of the. And I ask people in my real life, all of my, like, my guy friends, my straight guy friends said that he had no responsibility to say, all of my women friends and all of my queer friends said that he should have been up front with it.
A
See, I. Cause my thing is, like, if you're gonna hook up with somebody, it's not informed consent if you don't want. It's there.
B
If you're gonna touch body parts, I feel like that's when informed consent.
A
But I guess maybe now I'm like, going back on my word. But if you're. If you're da, we're all like, wait, but there's more. But if you're dating and it's like, no expectation of being mon with that person. You have to assume that they are sleeping with other people. You just have to.
B
Yeah, but that also leads to the question, this is a lot. At what point do you owe somebody that much information? And how do you. Who determines what information is too much right up front? And what is, you know, something that needs to be said.
C
That's exactly it. And I understand, like, I understand that point. And you're not gonna be upfront with everything in your life, especially it involves your kid and your partner.
B
Some people think other things are more important than others. Do you say you're a felon? Do you not. Do you say that you're divorced? Do you not? Yeah.
A
Do you have to go on dates and be like, okay, are you a felon?
B
No.
A
Do you have a husband or a partner? No. Okay. Like, do you have to have a list now?
C
And it's your responsibility? Do you know what I'm saying? And exactly. I'm not. I think I'm smart enough to, like. I do think he was in the wrong. But I need to learn as I'm dating. I'm kind of new to dating as of this year.
B
What are you okay with Waiting to.
C
Find out what I need to know. And I've been asking up front lately. It's like, what's important to you? Are you single?
B
Yeah.
C
Cause in my world, it could be. Yes. That's a good start.
B
That's a great start. It's sad that you have to ask that, but it's true.
C
When it's open relationships. I respect what that is for you, but I'm looking for my person. And so let me do my due diligence and just ask you if you're single.
B
Like, yeah, don't let me fall for you or get feelings for you. Can we just get it out of the way and make sure that you check my boxes?
C
That's what happened. Yep. Because I'm sensitive and it was intimate and, like, it was really good chemistry. And I started to get excited about maybe going on a few more dates in the future. Cause I was new to this romance era, and it came crumbling down. So I felt petty about it. But I underst.
B
Like, you guys said no, but that's a valid thing. It's like, how do you. And each person determines for them, like, what is too much and what is not enough? Informed consent. It's different for everybody.
A
So I love your takeaway, though. Cause that's what. Like, we don't want to leave this show being like, well, I hate everybody. And I never trust anyone totally. Because you can have accountability for your own actions.
C
Fool me once, maybe.
B
Fool me twice, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on you too. Period. Period.
C
I learned. I learned.
A
You learned.
B
Well, I would like to share with you a Mackenzie undercover. Dun, dun, dun.
A
Let's go.
B
PI Story. Okay, so I've. I'm.
A
I'm already like.
C
And you haven't heard this one either?
B
No, I keep it a secret. We like to get even with our guests. We like to get real reactions. So that's why this is real time. And then I love Hannah's reactions. Cause sometimes she gets it right away, and sometimes she's like, I don't know.
A
Sometimes I'm way off.
B
So I've been a private investigator for 20 years, and I tell some of the, you know, crazy stories that I've had. And sometimes you're like, eh, this is just. Let me tell you about a day at the office. And I'm thinking, like, this is a stupid story. And everybody else is like, what?
C
Yeah.
B
So how did it start?
A
How did she say, I think my husband's cheating?
B
Bingo.
C
Bingo.
A
I got that.
B
So that's how a lot of these cases start is I will get a call from a man, a woman, whoever, and says, hey, I think somebody's cheating. And as someone who is very nosy, and also, I'm very. I don't trust anybody. So if somebody's gonna hire me, I want to know that I can trust you. I will only do work for someone that I can trust you that, you.
A
Know, is not gonna, like, come to your house and freak out.
B
Yeah. Like, if I'm gonna take your money, I wanna trust you. Like, I wanna trust that you're here for the right reasons, that you're not gonna take the information that I give you and, like, go do something crazy. Which I can't guarantee, but I can use my gut and ask the right questions. So I get a call from this woman, and she's an attorney. Okay. She's a personal injury attorney. Now, the thing with the personal injury attorneys is I do a lot of surveillance on people that are claiming injuries. They're claiming personal injury from, like, workers comp. Or auto accidents.
C
Yeah.
A
So that she always finds out that they're not only able to move their neck, but they're also cheating.
B
Yeah. Well, they want the insurance fraud cases. People want million bazillion dollars. And the attorneys are like ambulance chasers. And they're like, you could get a Z. And they're like, yeah, I can't move my neck. And then you catch them playing racquetball, whatever. So anyways, this personal injury attorney actually found me because I was the investigator who busted her client doing what they said they couldn't do. So she, and it wasn't a conflict of interest because she actually wasn't the main attorney on that case. So she could hire me.
A
What?
B
Anyways, so she calls me and she says, hey, I got, you know, told me how she found me. And she said, I just wanted to reach out. I have this suspicion in my gut about my husband and I need to know if this is true. I need to know if this is accurate.
C
The attorney was had an, the attorney.
B
Had a suspicion about her own husband. So she's a personal injury attorney. So imagine this woman, she's in like her early 30s and she's married to this guy, right? They have a like a three or four year old son.
A
I don't remember.
B
I think he was like almost four. So he's just a baby. So. October 10th was World Mental Health Day. And this year we said thank you to therapists, but I feel like that's kind of all year round. I would like to say thank you to therapist every day because I know that therapy has helped me. My Better Help therapist has been amazing on my journey of weight loss and self love and just everything that's going on in my life. And so I've really been grateful for my therapist who has showed up and listened and just has helped me kind of take a step forward. So they are really good at, they're really good at asking the right questions. They give me a safe place to cry or celebrate my small wins. And I really think it can change lives like mental health is health. So I just want to honor those connections all year, all the time. And it's really easy to get guidance from a licensed therapist online. With Better Help, the right therapist can change everything. H E L P.com TDD you guys, my second favorite thing besides snacks is, is sleeping. No, we all love to sleep and we want to sleep comfortably. And when I tell you I'm usually the type of person who just wants to sleep comfortable. I don't need a fancy matching set. But when I tell you skims has me hooked. They have the softest soft lounge skims sleepwear you could ever imagine. When I sleep in skims, it's like sleeping on the softest cloud ever just because of the material itself anyways. And when you toss and turn like I do, nothing gets stuck and it's just so comfortable on your skin. I'm obsessed with the skims. So the boxers and T shirts that I've been sleeping in, Skims soft lounge sleep set has basically taken its place. And the soft lounge sleep set that I just got is so cute for the holidays. It's red and it has like little reindeer and it's just very holiday and Christmas and so freaking cute. I'm really obsessed with them and I think that it's going to be something that a lot of people get for a gift this year from me because I'm obsessed with them and they're so, they're, they're just so comfortable. If you're my mom, stop listening because this is what I'm going to get her for the holidays. Shop our favorite pajamas@skims.com after you place your order, be sure to let them know we sent you select podcast in the survey and be sure to select our show the dating detectives in the dropdown menu that follows. And if you're looking for the perfect gift for everyone on your list, the skims holiday shop is now open@skims.com so they have this kid together and her husband is a construction worker. Okay. Like I'm not going to lie. Good looking fella. But listen, she's an attorney and he's a construction worker. Not even a foreman. Not even a, like just a construct. It's fine, whatever. No judgment here. Okay.
C
Yeah, he makes up for it in other ways. Maybe.
A
I'm sure.
B
Maybe so. And it's fine. Like it's just a kind of an interesting combo. Usually it's the man who's doing the attorney and the woman is doing something.
A
That's the construction, obviously. Obviously something else or Whatever.
B
But usually there's more attorney, more male attorneys than females. And so that's it. So it was interesting, that kind of dynamic. Good for her. So she. And also she makes the money in the home, like, you know, So I don't know if that plays a role.
A
She got a little Bob the builder, and that's her man.
B
We will build it. Yes, we can. Is that what he says?
C
Bob, we will cheat.
A
Yeah.
B
So lady attorney gives me a call. She's like, I have this gut feeling. So she says, he's going to a guy's weekend, right? And I kind of don't trust it. And so I'm someone who will ask questions upon questions, and I never have enough answers. So when you answer a question, you're basically creating another question for me to ask. So it's never done for me. Okay. Imagine anybody in my life, and they're like, mackenzie, you have to give it a frickin rest.
C
I've got no more answers.
B
Got no more answers. So what I found out was he actually cheated on her before she got pregnant with their baby.
C
Okay.
B
And so they were married about a year and a half. He cheats on her, and she says, okay, that's it. I'm done. I want to break up, right? He says, no. He says, no, don't leave me, darling.
C
It won't happen again, baby. I promise.
B
I promise it will never happen again. It was an accident. What? It was a mistake. Whatever.
C
Wait, quick thoughts on what's a cheater? Always a cheater.
A
I say not 100. We actually don't feel that way.
C
You think? Yeah. You think you can correct your behavior?
A
Yeah, I do. And I think it's case by case.
B
I think everybody makes mistakes. And that's just one mistake that humans make. It's a human.
A
I also think there's like. I think even psychologists will say there's like nine types. There's like different types of cheating.
B
Yeah.
A
You know what I mean?
C
Okay. I need to know what those nine are.
B
It's a little bit more nuanced than that, but that can be a whole series of episodes.
A
All of that is to say I don't have a lot of faith in this dude.
C
Okay?
B
Yeah.
A
At this moment, I don't have a lot of faith.
B
So she breaks up with him. She says, you've cheated on me. I'm done. Like, I don't. We're done. Goodbye. Okay. So she then finds out that she's pregnant. And so she's like, listen, we're gonna have a baby. And he's like, if we're gonna have a baby together, I would like you to give me another chance. I would like to save this relationship, Whatever. So they go to counseling.
C
He suggests counseling work.
B
And he says, I'm willing to do this for us, for you, for the baby.
A
I don't like the way he's framing that, but okay, well.
B
And as well, as a mom, that's what you want to hear.
C
I think any guy, particularly, that's willing to admit that he's made a mistake. I think baseline is a huge steps, unfortunately.
B
And a mom, you're having this baby, and you're like, yeah, you don't want it to. I really hate you right now. But also, when you find out you're pregnant, most women. Most. They go into that mother mode, and you want to protect your baby, and that is you want him to have his dad, Whatever. And that's just me, like, being a mom and having that experience, like, you just. You want the best for your kid and selfishness, like, goes out like yourself. Anything about you goes out the window, and it's all about the kid.
C
But if you're asking to come back home, then come back home. Correct. I think.
B
And he said, therapy, counseling, whatever. And so she's like, all right, fine, we'll do this. Whatever. Even though she's not super trusting, but whatever.
A
Do the work, build the home.
B
She actually found out that he was cheating the first time because she. One of her friends saw him making out with a girl in a nightclub, which is true. Before. Yeah. Which. Yeah.
A
So criminal or minimal? No.
C
Are you open or not? Yeah.
B
So she goes through his phone, and she sees the text and the pictures from this girl. Whatever. Right. So Hannah's like, timeline, screenshots.
A
I do have to take notes sometimes, though. There's a lot.
B
Okay, we'll continue. Yeah. So she finds out from her friend that he was making out with this girl. So whenever he said, hey, I'm going on a guy's weekend, it was triggering for her because, oh, no, the last time, you know, this happened. Like, I found out that you. Whatever. So a few years later, okay, now the baby is three, almost four years old. Okay, so he still took the baby. And this is, you know, several years after the cheating incident. Things are fine. So she thinks they've gone to counseling, they're working on their marriage, whatever. Baby has his mom and his dad. Well, her femme tuition kicks in, and she's like, something ain't right. And you know that you. You know what femme tuition is like, femme tuition Is where you. Your gut is just screaming at you.
C
I was just talking to my girlfriend, one of my girlfriends about this. I think it's one of the most powerful feelings in the world. I don't have. I mean, does everyone have.
B
Yeah, I think everyone is born innately.
A
With the way I see it is. It's like, yes, we all have intuition, but there is a very specific intuition that comes from a femme experience or any kind of like, minority experience. You can, like we said, like them tuition. Like, you can wait.
B
Yeah, we call it femme tuition. Whatever it is, it's anybody. But there's something about a woman intuition or even in this case, a mom or mom's in general. Mothers just have this different.
A
It is just mom tuition.
B
Mom tuition. It's legit level. So.
C
And so she just started feeling something, her intuition.
B
He's hiding his phone a little bit more like, not super obvious, but she just.
A
And they.
B
Oh, so many people say it feels off. Yeah, it's just that feeling of it feels off, like something is wrong. And she's been down this road with him before. And so she's like, man, I guess I just want to know, like, she was lucky that her friend happened to see this and report back to her. And so I don't know if she. I don't know if you'd consider that lucky. But she, you know, at least she knew what to look out for. Whatever.
C
And he's at a local bar just making out with someone. Doesn't he know he's gonna get right?
B
That's what I guess. Some people think they're invincible. And they're like, what are the chances? But it's a small world. Like, smaller than we think. So he makes out with this girl. Whatever. They get back together. They're doing fine. He says he's going off for a guy's weekend. And there's this place called City Walk in Orlando, which is. That's in my wheelhouse, right? So Central Florida. So CityWalk is this huge. It's right next to Universal Studios. And there's like nightclubs and restaurants and bars. And it's a party place, but also kids can go there. There's like a putt putt. And there's like all these different place. But at nighttime it's, you know, it's a tourist. Tourist area is where you go to party. And so she says he's going off with his guys and he's going to City Walk. And so I rally the troops. I call my girlfriends. We're going out this weekend.
C
Oh. Cause you need to look undercover.
B
I need to look undercover. Who goes to. And first of all, he's going with a group of dudes. I'm gonna bring a group of girls. We gonna find out.
C
Oh, get close to the sworners.
B
So find out. So a group of girls, a group of guys.
A
How do you choose which friends to bring on a case like that?
C
You know, like your hottest friends that can catch.
A
It's not one that's going to be too sloppy. You know, make sure there is people.
B
There are friends that I know that I'm like, hey, let's go on a case. And they've known me long enough. They're like, oh, here we go. Oh, yeah, I know. They're like, mackenzie's going on surveillance. Guess we're going like it's not new to them anymore.
A
That's so fun.
B
They're just like that. And they're just like, oh, mackenzie, she wants us to go on a surveillance. Let's go.
A
I guess you to get licensed in California so that we can all.
C
I know that would be so much in west Hollywood. You'd be rich.
B
So it's like. So it's literally a surveillance. And typically surveillance is by yourself. But there are cases where you need to blend in sometimes. If I'm a white girl going into an all black community, you don't fit in. It doesn't work.
C
You need to blow your cover.
B
You'll blow your cover. So I'll call my girl Parker. She's an African American woman, really cute. She's a female. I say, hey, girl, I need you to go into this community. Whatever. You know, if there's a guy that I need or if there's a biker dude like you, you kind of figure out who fits the part the best. You just have to.
A
You're like, you guys are my hot friends. Yeah, let's go to the club.
B
If we go into a nightclub, let's roll. We going for the weekend. And it's a write off. The client's paying for the hotel. So I'm like, we're going for free. Everybody's like, can I drink? And I'm like, you can drink all the live long day. I'm not gonna. But whatever. So we could go have fun. So I'm surrounded by a group of girls and it just looks like I went there. I literally went there for my bachelorette party. And it was just like, you look normal. You look normal. So I knew everybody knows what to do. Just go and hang out and have a couple drinks, whatever.
C
And you don't drink in general, or are you just trying to keep your wits about you because you're.
B
I don't. I don't drink in general. I don't not. Not drink. I'm not a huge same. So I don't drink in. But I don't. If I'm doing surveillance, like, I want my wits about.
C
Totally.
B
That's usually me in general, anyways.
C
Okay, cool.
B
So we follow this guy to the hotel they were staying at. And he told her what hotel they're staying at. He's like. So I started surveillance at the hotel. And we saw them when they arrived. He had gone in to check in for the group before. Followed them to the room. So we knew. So the hotel right there by City Walk. I don't remember what hotel it was, but it's one with the doors that all face the parking lot.
C
Okay.
B
Praise God. So you can see where they're staying. So there were several different guys, and there's three different hotel rooms side by side by side. And so you can watch it from the parking lot. So we're sitting there, and my girls are like, when are we going? I'm like, I don't freaking know. I didn't make this guy's schedule. And so they're waiting to go, so we're all sitting in the car. Well, they get in an Uber, right? And they. They call a Uber to go over to the CityWalk. And good for them. You know, this is fun and all, but I'm count on an Uber and be like, follow that car. Like, it has to be timed, right? So I had one friend, I was like, listen, when we get to this place, like, you're gonna drive. You're gonna go park this beast, and I'm gonna get out, and all of us are gonna go and do surveillance. You, you're signing. I'm assigning my friends jobs so they all feel cool. Cause they're, like, part of it. But they also. They're like. They're used to it, so it's nothing fun for them. They're just like, all right, whatever you need.
C
But they're getting a free trip out of it. They're getting a free trip. Having fun?
A
Yeah. The future is here. And it's called sous vide. Just kidding. But maybe this is about the sous vide kitchen robot, which is my new favorite thing. And I've talked about it before, and I'm so excited that they are sponsoring us, because it is making my cooking life and my whole life better. Basically, this is a Smart countertop oven. And Suvi also has a flexible meal delivery service to go with it if you want. It has saved me so much time in the kitchen every week. And let me tell you what it does. It has a ton of settings, over 15 cook modes like air fryer, slow cooking, whatever you need. And there's a top and a bottom and you can do two different settings, two different temperatures. And my favorite thing about it is the built in refrigeration. So you can set up dinner in the morning and tell Suvi I'm coming home at 7pm and that's when I'd like my dinner to be done. And it knows to keep it cold until maybe 30 minutes before and then it starts cooking and it's right there and you can, you can prep whenever you have time and it does it all for you. And if you get their delivery service, it has a tap to cook technology. So it comes with this little card and you tap it on SUV and SUVI's like, I know exactly what you're making, I know how long it takes and you just tell me when it's done. And girl, go do your thing. I know you have other things to do. My roommate and I love Suvi so much. We actually like freak out every time we get to use it because it's so exciting. And it's also just made me eat better food. Like I love roasted vegetables, like really good seasoned roasted vegetables just to have around as like a healthy snack because it doesn't feel, I mean it feels healthy, but it doesn't feel healthy if I put enough salt on, you know what I mean? But didn't make them until I had this. Now I can so easily just throw it in the sous vide, have it done when I want it and just have like a healthier option. So if you try it, suvi offers a 100 day risk free trial. I highly recommend, especially if you're busy, which I know so many of you who listen to us are. Go to suvi.comdingdetectives to get 16 free meals when you order. That's S U v I e.com datingdetectives to get 16 free meals with your risk free trial. Save time, eat better with Suvie, you guys.

The cupcakes are made by hand and there's beautiful gift boxes, there's birthdays and thank yous, congratulations, sending love, whatever or like I said, self love is self care. Baked by Melissa.com dating detectives so anyways he ends up him and his little guy friends that he was not wearing his wedding ring. He was earlier when he arrived at the hotel but then when he went out to the club he was not wearing his wedding ring and his little buddies, some of his little buddies took off because that's the first thing, that's the first you're, you train after 20 years you're just trained to look at that stuff and so you notice right away, right away. So we follow these guys from the hotel to the CityWalk. So they get dropped off, and you walk into CityWalk, and then you go among the clubs and you find whatever. And so we're on foot, and we're following these guys on foot, and you're just kind of. You can keep an eye on where they're going. So I assigned one guy to each of my friends, and I said, you keep an eye on this guy. You keep an eye on this guy. I keep an eye on the subject and whatever. So everybody's assigned to somebody. And then some people. People have, like, two.
A
Oh, my gosh.
B
Wow. Yeah. And so they're. They're like, all right, cool. They can keep an eye on one guy. It's fine.
A
And are any of your friends single that are here? One that's like, I want to help my kids, but also that.
B
Yeah, I think. I think no. So anyway, so we walk into CityWalk. They go into the club. We let them kind of go into the club. They're not gonna. If they're not gonna. If they're gonna leave, it's gonna be the same way they came in.
C
Yep.
B
There's only one way in and out. And so we let them go in a minute. And so then we go in. We get our wrist in. We have our IDs. We're wearing our cute outfit, whatever. So we're in the club, and we. I. I noticed, and I think one of the other girls noticed. They're like, hey, these guys are, like, looking at us. They're. I think they're gonna. I think they're coming over to us. Right? So, okay. Griff looks terrified. What would you do? What do you do?
A
What do you think?
C
Well, I mean, you have to trust that your friends have been in this situation and can keep cool. I assume that people you've invited and you said have done this already.
B
Yeah.
C
Yeah.
B
They know what I do.
A
They're not. They're used to it.
C
They're used to it. You have to just be cool. I mean, just flirt. It's just flirting. Right? And I guess. Do their husbands know that they're on this trip?
B
Yeah, everybody. That's fine.
C
They get to, like, flirt for a little.
B
They're like, oh, you're doing surveillance with MacKenzie again. Okay, sure.
A
Have a good time.
C
I would. Well, I'm there to work, so I would be like, I need to get info for Mackenzie. And so, yeah, I would go into, like, ultimate flirting mode. I would ask them, like, why are you here this weekend? Who'd you come with? Who organized this out like this I would just, you know, flirt and get information.
B
And then receipts, timeline, screenshots, like, I got.
A
All right. You could even do what you do when you're dating now and just be like, so are you single?
C
Yeah, exactly. Be honest. Oh, yeah. And if. That's a great first question to ask. They're gonna lie about that.
B
Perfect.
C
Yeah.
B
That's standard. They're gonna lie about that.
C
Yeah. I would be trying to get as much information for you. And especially. Cause you said you can't really interface with your subject a lot.
B
Right. Well, so that's the thing is that for me personally, I don't want to have one on one connection with my subject. I never do. It's. There are some times when. Like, if, for instance, on a personal injury case, you never want to talk to someone who's represented because that can be unethical. So when it goes to court, they go like, oh, she's like, you're manipulating. You're manipulating the witness or your wit. Yeah, exactly.
A
I guess that makes sense. If you were to flirt with him, they could argue maybe he never cheated until MacKenzie flirted with him.
B
Yeah. And then Atlanta. Yeah.
C
You, like, led the jury.
B
So they. They start walking over, and I turn and, like, pretend to take a phone call and, like, walk away. So I'm, like, letting my friends, like, what? They say, whatever. I don't care. They're all. By this time, everybody's drinking. They could be like, we're with our PI friend. We're doing surveillance on you. And they'd be like, ha, ha.
C
Yeah. Yeah.
A
So true.
B
They'd be like, that's so silly.
C
They're focused on one thing. Let's be honest. The guys are focused on one.
B
They don't have their wedding rings on. Right. Anyways.
C
Yeah, exactly.
B
So they're just hitting on my friends. Like, okay. And they're. We have my subject, who I'm keeping an eye on. Right. So this is Friday night. Okay. So this is a Friday night. So Friday night and Saturday night is the nights he's going with his guys. They plan on coming home Sunday afternoon. So we're at this club on Friday night. Well, I'm keeping an eye on my guy, and he's making out with this girl. But before he makes out with this girl, he buys a drink for probably, like seven or eight different girls. So he's like, shimmying up the ratio. And he's like.
A
And he's like one of these.
C
Literally what my friends do.
B
The music is, like, in your ears, and so you can't hear what he's saying, but you can literally hear what he's saying, like, hey, how's it going? Can I buy you a drink? Whatever, guys, I don't.
A
Wait, really? You have friends that are just like, let me buy 10.
C
How else are they going to find someone to hook up with? They don't have a date.
A
Be a decent person.
B
You give your number to 100 guys in a bar.
A
I could be wrong, but if you're.
C
Out, then, yeah, you have to play the number game. It's like, if you're looking to take someone home, more people buy a girl drink. Yeah.
B
The more people. The more people you give your number. It's math, but that's math.
C
Whereas for us, we can just get on, like, an app or something and be like, you know, you up? Or whatever.
B
But this guy is, like, he's trying because he's going girl to girl to girl throughout the night, throughout this couple.
A
Of hours, and he's, like, spending the lawyer's money. I swear to God.
B
I swear. Hannah flipped her hair and said, I swear to God.
A
You know, he is. Continue.
B
So. So he is literally, like, buying these girls drinks. And then you could see the. You can literally hear as if no music is playing, and they're the only ones talking. You can hear him being rejected by people. They're getting the. And then little. They'll just, like, be like, all right, thanks, Bye, and just, like, walk away. And you can see his body language, his shoulders slump, and he's like, man, she didn't like me.
C
Next.
B
On to the next. And so then he'll go to another girl. Hey, man, you can. It's so. It's just like he was repeating the same thing over and over.
C
So sad.
B
So then after seven or eight girls he's buying these drinks for, and then he finds one, and by this time, the ugly lights are coming on pretty soon. So you got to get. You got to nail it down before the ugly lights come on, or they are not going to find you a traffic. You got to get that phone number.
A
Oh, God.
B
So he's making out with this girl, right? And he's making out with her hard at the bar. He don't have to buy no other girl's drink. He's like, I found my one. She was willing to put her tongue in my mouth. We best friends now. Like, we. I got some drinks in her. Whatever.
A
Wait, will you talk about. So you're recording this, correct?
B
Yeah. So I'm using my phone as a computer.
A
Yeah. How do you Think I'm on.
C
Do you like audio or video?
B
Video. So porn is a two party consent state. So I can't record audio. Oh, I can't turn in on.
C
Wait, a two party consent state.
B
State, yeah.
C
There are states that don't require two parties to consent.
B
Yes. Yep. There are states that only require one party and that's.
A
We're a two party as well in.
B
California, do you think.
A
Good question. Is that's where the guys. Oh, that's where you're from. I thought you meant the guy that you were talking about.
B
Everybody in today's day and age is on their phone. Everybody's on social media. So everybody has a camera. Do you think you up?
A
Well, okay, so that's.
B
Everybody has a camera up recording their friends dancing. They're doing selfies. So when I have, I'll tell my friends, go stand here and dance. And I'll just be like, oh, that's true. And I'm recording. But meanwhile, I'm getting him.
C
I would never clock that.
B
And I'm zoomed in all the way.
A
I do that. Whenever I see, like a celebrity. We're always like, oh, smile for a picture.
B
Yeah, yeah, exactly. So that's what's happening at the club. So my friends are. They're legit.
A
Like.
C
Yeah, they're homies.
B
They did not get paid and they should have, but they did not.
C
Well, they did. They got a free trip out of it.
B
That's Utah, basically. So he's not wearing his wedding ring. He's making out with this girl and they're like. Yeah. So the ugly lights eventually come on, the club closes and they're wrapping it up, and they're all. They all get drunk into their Uber and they go back to the hotel. The night's over.
A
Just the boys. Not any of the women with.
B
Right. None of the women.
C
But the, the. The making out is cheating.
B
Yeah.
C
Right?
B
Yeah.
C
Okay, so you got the evidence.
B
So they. He goes. He go. And I'm not someone who's gonna call. I mean, she's an attorney, so I probably could have and reasonably expected that she would have been cool and, like, understood how to maintain her level of dignity while she's on the phone with me and not flipped out and, like, lashed out irrationally. But I don't usually try to tell real time what's going on. Like, I try to wait. Oh, that's amazing.
A
I don't know. Could you. Okay, question. If you were married and you get a call from the PI, Just wait a day and a half. Your husband Is absolutely cheating. Don't call him. Don't say anything. Don't do anything. I'm still on the case. Like, I don't think I'd be able to sit there and not do anything.
C
I would be able to.
A
You would. You would sit at home.
C
I'm a very patient person.
B
Not me. I would show up.
C
You would show up.
B
I would be the asshole. That's why I don't tell people. The people that ruin my cases. I would be.
A
I don't know if I'd show up, but I wouldn't be. Well, you know, you have to cater.
C
To the fact that some people would blow a gasket. I don't think I would.
B
I. I've just over too much liability. There's some people that if you tell them in that fit of anger, they could hurt someone. And that's what I really don't mean. I'm not trying to get nobody hurt. I'm just trying to get information.
C
They could tell the kids. And it's not fully flushed out, like, totally.
A
I see you, like, sitting by a fire in a living room, just waiting for them to walk in, like, holding.
B
A whiskey glass, like, your legs crossed. And you're sitting there quiet. That's scary as hell.
C
I turn the lights on when he comes in.
B
Yeah.
C
The fuck were you?
A
Yeah.
C
Now, truly, if I'm paying for a service, I'm not gonna ruin the what I'm paying as a product or paying for as a product.
B
Some people can't wait.
C
I'm gonna let you do your job.
B
Yes. Especially as a woman will blow a gasket most of the time. And it's how they both have a roll. A man. Yeah, exactly.
A
They do.
C
Yeah.
B
And so.
C
And Florida is like, the people there are like passionate and charged and like.
B
They are on bath salts everywhere.
A
You don't know what's gonna happen.
B
You do not know. We Floridians are off our rockers.
C
Okay, so wait a few days.
B
Florida. Y' all ever heard Florida, man? That's us.
A
One of the hardest things about dating is figuring out what to wear on a first date. And I have a theory and a potential solution. I'm a big fan of a first date sweater. Not just any sweater. B
So anyway, so they go back to the hotel, all is fine. And well, I don't tell the client. I'm just, I'm. It's 3 o' clock and 4 o'. Clock. Whatever time it is, it's late. We're not doing this. So me and the girls, we go to the hotel and we get a good night's sleep. And now we're there for the day, right? So I live about an hour from Orlando, but we're just gonna stay there and hang out. So we all hang out by the pool and the guys come to the pool. They're hanging out at the pool. There's like a cabana there. So whatever. We're just chilling and we're coming and going so we can kind of keep an eye on these guys. And it's getting later in the day and the guys are starting to disperse and we can hear like, we're gonna go out tonight. They're hitting on all these girls at the pool. They are like, it's almost like desperation.
C
Exactly what it is.
B
They're like 12 year olds. These are, are, these are prepubescent boys that are 40 years old or 30 years old.
C
They're human males. So yeah, they're horny.
B
So they're just like hanging on all these girls.
A
And like, I also just hate how they're not being subtle at all. They're one hour away from where they live and, like, didn't say they were going on a business trip. I'm going on a boys trip. And I am not even trying to pretend.
B
He told her where he was staying, where he'd be going. He told her the clubs that he was going to.
A
Well, I guess the best lies are almost true.
B
The best lies are the closest to the truth. Yep, that's what they say. So anyways, so on Saturday, we're at the pool we're all. Everybody's doing their thing, right? And then kind of hanging out, and it starts to wind down. So we go up and we're starting to get dressed, and, you know, the guys are starting to kind of do their thing. And one of the guys had taken one of the girls from the pool out of the pool area. And I don't. He's not. Not my circus. Not my monkey.
C
Yeah, but what do you think they were doing?
B
I'm just. I mean, I don't think a rocket surgeon.
C
Okay.
B
I'm just saying, like, you. But that's not my. I'm not getting paid to care for him.
C
So I'm just also, like, you've seen them. You've seen your target making out last night. So are you in a position where you're, like, still needing to collect intel? Are you good?
B
No. She wanted me to continue to follow.
C
Him as much as possible.
B
So what'll happen is with private investigation cases, usually they'll tell you a budget. Like, I have $2,000, and that's like. I don't know, let's say eight hours of Spanish or whatever it is. And so they'll be like, okay, I'm at my limit. But they're still making out. Like, let's. Okay, so let's keep going on surveillance, and I'll just pay more. So you kind of set a standard before. Or they'll be like, I want you to do only eight hours, period. And then I'm done. Don't ask me no more. Like, done in the surveillance. So it's up to the client. She was like, okay. She's like, he's gone for the weekend, so we're putting in the work, so we're gonna stay there.
C
She's a lawyer.
B
Yeah. And she's making the money. And he's not even a foreman.
C
I had no idea. Like, that makes a lot of. They pay you hourly.
B
Yeah. So they pay. She's ready. She wants to find out. So we all start getting ready to go, and everybody's, you know, we're gonna go back to the club. We know what we're doing that night. It's. We've already. We practiced it the night before.
C
Yes.
B
So we. We literally had, like, dress rehearsals, rehearsal.
A
Everybody has their mark.
B
Everybody has their target. And my friend who was watching the one guy who left with this girl that was wearing the thong bikini shoes.
C
And we don't know what they were doing.
B
She's like, well, my guy left. What do I do? And I'm like, I don't know, like, go have fun. Like, you're off the clock, I guess.
C
Yeah, girl.
B
I don'. Like, help me watch this fella. I don't know. Help your fellow girl. Watch her, man. I don't care. And she's like, well, my guy left. I want to know what he's doing. And I'm like, you guys need to be PIs.
C
I know they're in it. You've, like, you've hired them. And so they're like, my target's gone, and this isn't. This is boring.
B
They're like, so, am I done? Like, do I go home now? I'm like, no, bitch, just party.
C
Just party.
A
Just chill out.
B
Like, have fun. Go get a snacks, I guess.
A
Any of them get their Instagrams or anything? Like. Or did you have any limits on them? Cause I would have been. The first thing I would have done is get some of their Instagram.
C
Getting an Instagram.
B
Oh, so. Actually, that's a really good question. So before they went out, I did have, like, she told me who they were, who he was going out with, and she gave me all their names, so I did have them. You had. I knew who they were, and I knew who their mamas were. I knew who their wives were.
A
I just want to see them post a story, like, at, like, the Teacups at Disney World. Like, wow. You know, they're at the club.
C
We're having a great time.
B
Exactly. So anyways, we all go. We. We know what to do now. Like, we know what to expect. So we go to the club again. It is the same exact thing at a different club.
C
Okay, so that's what clubbing is.
B
The guys go. Exactly. So the guys go in, they're wearing their. They got their hand. Hamburger meat hanging out their chest. Or buttons open the top buttons. They got.
C
Oh, my God. Yeah. What were their outfits, those guys? Like, Miami Vice.
A
Was anyone wearing shorts?
B
So think. No, these guys were. Listen, they were wearing, like, the slacks, but they were tight on their thighs and, like, tight around the butt. And they. So they're like. And then they didn't wear the socks, but they had on, like, the loafers. Right?
C
Okay.
B
And they're buttoned down with, like, the belt. And then they had the top three buttons open, showing their hamburger meat. Some of them had tattoos for days. Like, let me close my jacket.
C
What does hamburger meat. Is it chest hair?
B
Yeah.
C
Oh, okay.
B
Like. Like when you think of. Think of a cartoon, and it always has them all curly and they're, like, hanging out of the chest.
C
Like Gaston from Beauty and the Beast.
B
Yes. Yeah, yeah. Okay, so I call that hamburger meat.
C
Because it's like, well, now I am so.
B
You look hot, though.
A
Thank you.
C
It's a cheeseburger.
B
They were good looking. Like, they weren't bad looking dudes. They're pretty good looking. Especially for the two of them are the construction workers. Anyway, so they're. And so. Okay, so they're at the. We're at a different club and it's the same thing. It's the same. They didn't recognize him. Everyone was wasted. Like, they don't recognize you. And a lot of people. And in the beginning of my PI career, I'd have been scared. I've been like, I can't go in there again. He's gonna recognize me. Nobody knows. Nobody's paying attention to you.
A
Also, even if they did. Okay, the girls are last night.
B
It's fine. Like, yeah, exactly. It's the girls from last night. Whatever. And you don't this. People think that they're like, oh, he's gonna remember me. You're not so special.
A
Also, God, this would be so. Like, even if they did think you were following them, they'd be like, oh, my God, that was.
B
This is so flattering.
C
Yeah. I don't know if my guys would have the, like, perspective. They wouldn't notice. And they've also tried to hit on your friends already to maybe no success. And so they're gonna. You're dead. You're dead to them. They're looking for other.
B
Well, at this point. So now my friends are comfortable. And that's dangerous because now they feel like they. Now they feel like they real like FBI Alphabet suit with guns on their hips. And they feel like they're like, annie, get your gun. Like Annie Oakley. They think that they are, like, ready to take. So they are, like, confident. And they're like, they're. They're not scared. Like, oh, they're coming over to us. What do we do? They're walking up to them like, hey. And I like, go do your thing. Go nuts. Stay off my guy. Because I don't want to. I don't want anything to compromise him. I don't want to compromise him or I don't want him to do anything that he wouldn't do if we did not make it happen. And that's what I told him. I said, there's. There's an entrapment, which doesn't count for PIs, by the way.
C
I love that. Entrapment.
B
Yeah. Scares me. Entrapment. That's not a thing anyway, so I was just like stay off my guy. But whatever. Same thing my guy is, he's chiming up to girls at the bar and be like hey lady. But this time he's getting a little bit excited. So he's going out onto the dance floor. He's not approaching the girl sitting at the bar stool with her legs crossed at the bar. He's going to the girl that's like woohoo. Living it up at the dance club. He's going for the good time girl. He's like, maybe I'll have better luck out here.
C
Well, apparently it's so funny. We're such animals. We're like, what's the most strategic person to get the leg?
B
You know, it's a vibe. Right?
C
I don't hate him for the strategy. I hate that he's doing it.
B
So he's out on the dance floor and he's just beatbopping and we're all like back in the listen when we would go to the nightclub, like we put our. You put your hands on your knees and you getting down and you twerking and that's how we dance. Like you just booty dance on anybody and everybody in the club. That's what you do. And so that's what he was. So he was fitting in like nothing bad. Right? Well then with several different girls on.
C
The dance floor and you're recording and.
B
I'm recording this so.
C
And are you recording me right now?
A
No. So he's making out with a circle of women. Is this all very quick? Is this.
B
No, this is throughout the night. So we're talking three, four hours. Like we're. Everybody's sweating, everybody's drinking. He's making out with like 1100 girls at the club and they are just.
C
Dancing and he's warmed up, dress rehearsal went. He got the nerves out. So did your girls.
B
Like everyone's by. By number two. These guys are brave. And you've got. All the dudes are making out and all the dudes are. And I've got. And the girl's like oh my God, my guy is doing this and oh my God, my guy just made out with the girl that my guy made out this other guy, whatever. And so they're all making. Everybody's just making out all willy nilly all over the club. Lord bless it. And so somebody's gonna get the mono herpes of a litigant reaids or something because that's a lot of folks.
C
It's a lot of kissing It's a.
B
Lot of kissing, a lot of sly blood. Anyway, so they. So again, the club starts to close down and they are like, the ugly lights are about to come on, so you gotta get them phone numbers. And I'm like, oh, man.
A
Like, you gotta get her back in.
B
The Uber with you or you gotta get her back in the Uber she's trying to Uber with you. And two of them did what? Two of the guys that are married got. Two of the guys got together.
A
No, I wish.
B
I wish. Two guys from this guy group got girls to go. So they had two different Ubers. So they had two vans that they had Uber that they had because they were so many of them. You've got my guy and one of his guy friends and they are, you know, necking with this girl, Their. Their girl or whatever for the night. Because, you know, that's what happens. Like, you go to a club, you pick up a girl, you go back.
A
To the hotel and you're like, wait, so your subject.
B
My subject gets a girl and one of his buddies gets a girl.
C
So he's one of the two?
B
Yeah. So my, My guy is one of the two that has a girl and they're getting to an Uber and I'm like, maybe they're going to the Waffle House House. Listen, you can't assume that. Oh, they're going back to the hotel. I'm thinking, okay, maybe they're going to breakfast. They're going to go to the Waffle House. My bachelorette party at City Walk. That's what we did.
C
That's what you did.
B
Yeah, we went to the Waffle House. I fell asleep at the bar while everybody else ate the breakfast at 4am Got in their gut bomb, and that's what happened. So I'm like, you never know. They go back to the hotel. Okay, so Griff, they're going back to the hotel room. They are not going to the breakfast at the Denny's and fall asleep on a bar. What do you do?
C
They're getting up other kinds of bombs.
B
They're not getting gut bombs, they're getting other bombs.
C
Well, you. One of the two is your target.
B
Yes.
C
And so you have to. How close can you get to their hotel room? Can you follow your target up to his? Because the night before, you just saw your target making out. Captured. Great. In the evidence folder, you've now seen your target getting into an Uber. We assume that they're going to the hotel room. How closely can you trail that target to the hotel room?
B
I can go all the way. Except into the hotel.
C
You can look into the peephole, like, from reverse, if you wanted to. Okay.
B
No. So you can. There's no expectation of privacy in public. So all the front doors of the hotel face the parking lot. So if you're sitting in your car, you can see them all going in. Like, it's. No, there's. You could just sit there, and we're all just watching and just like, what? And why Someone's always watching.
C
I get. There's no privacy. There's no expectation of privacy in a public space.
B
There's no expectation of privacy. So I can videotape you. I can videotape your child. I can videotape. I can't use it for anything malicious.
C
Yeah, yeah.
B
But I can videotape. Well.
A
Oh, can we, like, civilians? Can I videotape anybody I want in a public space?
B
Yep. Okay. All right.
A
I guess that makes sense. That's like. Half of TikTok is like, look at these crazy influencers doing a dance.
B
Like, you just.
C
In a public space.
B
You can videotape anybody you want in a public space. And then you just have to be careful. Like, if you play it online and you didn't have consent for audio. Okay. But if you're in a public and you get video and you're just. Anybody that was standing there without a video camera can hear it, then it's kind of.
C
Wow.
B
It's kind of a fine line.
A
So you can go all the way up to the room.
C
I think I would do that. And then whatever girlfriend of yours was trailing the other guy, I would make sure that she gets on his ass, too, right?
B
Yeah, well, of course.
C
Because then can you reach out to his wife and be like, no, that's absolutely not.
B
But if I. But could your friend. If I tell my client this is what happened, and they happen to be in my video because they're next to each other and he's in the video holding the other girl's hand. She's gonna go to the church guy and say, hey, my friend, let me tell you what I found out. But that's on her, not on me.
C
That's on her.
A
Could your friend, though, send like, a hey, girly text if she wanted to, to her friend?
B
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
C
You just can't. You can't initiate that, like, discovery, correct?
B
Okay, I can't, because that's not my subject. That would be illegal. That would be illegal. That would be an illegal investigation. That would be unlicensed activity. I'm not licensed to follow him. I'M licensed to follow his friend, but if he's in my video because there's no expectation of privacy and the client sees it and she recognizes her and she shows him. That's not my problem.
C
Totally. That's just being a girlfriend that should.
A
There you go.
B
So it's a little bit nuanced.
C
Do you tail, Is it trail or tail? Tail your subject back to the hotel.
B
Yeah, so trail them.
A
Look at you.
B
Trail them.
A
Got the lingto down.
B
Tail and trail.
A
They're both Veronica Mars.
B
A few episodes of Kim Possible just.
C
A few weeks ago, actually.
B
So I go around the hotel the back way so that I can. I can watch the hotel rooms and come around so I'm not following them directly. So they go around one way, I go around the other and we meet in the back and whatever. So I can see. I videotape the. On the sidewalk. You can see the guys following behind and you can see each guy going into his hotel room.
C
Oh my God. Like little bees.
B
Three guys. Yeah, three guys in this room. Two guys and two guys. And then the two guys with the girls, they were not in the same room before. Like they had two separate rooms, but the guys with the girls decided we gonna be in the same room. So then the other guy, one of the other guys who did not have a girl with him, he got his stuff out of his room, went to the other room so that the two guys with the two girls could be in the same room.
C
It's like anyone having sex in this room? Anyone not.
A
Get the fuck out, get out, get your stuff and go.
C
Which is very college, by the way.
B
Very, very college.
A
I'm also like, are they gonna be like, oh, no, we only have one room. I guess we all have to be here together. Like. Like, I don't know.
B
Interesting.
C
This is why so many of my buddies have seen each other have sex.
A
Yeah, like, what else are we going to do?
B
Well, so they're. It's late at night, right? And these, these girls that they've picked up at the club, they don't got no clothes. Like they've just got their club clothes. Like they don't have a toothpaste.
C
And those aren't clothes.
B
And those aren't clothes.
A
They have bandanas.
B
Yeah, they. So I'm like, well, are they going to spend the night and like wake up with these dudes? Like. And so you wanted. Right?
C
So great photos.
B
What do you think they do? What do you think we do?
C
I mean, if the. I mean if the guys are smart, which to this Point in the story, they have not been. They would get the deed done and be like, can I get you an Uber back to your hotel? So that like, when we wake up.
B
It'S, oh, you think they're gentlemen. That's nice.
C
Oh, no, that is the gentlemanly thing to do. But like, the cost of not being a gentleman in this situation is waking up in daylight with someone that you're cheating on your spouse with.
A
Right.
C
But like, again, like, sex makes men stupid and so they're probably not thinking about that. But if I. I mean, oh God. It's like.
B
But also if you're nice, like, if you're nice and like, hey, can I get you. It's like a nice way to say get the F out.
C
Totally. I also don't know if I like, I guess I would ask you two as well. If you were one of the girls going home with these guys, would you want to stay in their bed?
A
I would say I would be like.
B
Yeah.
A
And I wouldn't really expect to be like, making. Are you making me breakfast in the morning? Like, that's not like romantic meetup.
B
I want to. I want to kind of to expand the picture that I've painted and tell you that these two girls do not know each other. They are from two different. Oh, so they don't know each other until they're with these guys and they're like, hey, girlfriend, like, what's your name? Like, they. They didn't know each other.
C
But that's when your femme tuition needs to be like, girl, I was just.
A
Gonna say I kind of love that they have a buddy now. They didn't come along.
B
They have a buddy. But also like, what the f are you doing and where are your friends? Like, why are your friends letting you leave with some guy? Like, oh, that's obviously like, that's a thing. So tough. I was really tough. Like, you're a grown up. But also, they shouldn't.
A
But also, like, how else are you.
C
Gonna get like a one night stand? You know?
B
Right.
C
But I hear you. It's like, it's.
B
There's. It's so tough. What do you do?
A
So you send the location, you text like, nonsense.
C
I just started sharing my location. I Mostly because I'm trying to let more people into my heart.
A
Oh, I love that.
C
But also because of safety reasons. It's like I go on dates all the time and hookups. It's like someone at least needs to be able to see where I'm so.
A
Pro sharing low location. Maybe not in your relationship. Not everyone, but like, Molly as my location. Like, I just give it to my friends. I'm like, do you. You have my location? I think I don't. Even if you don't want to. Cause you're a PI but like.
B
But honestly, I bet anybody. Everybody is a kidnapper. Everybody. Everybody is capable of kidnapping and everybody is capable of murder. I don't care who you are, you are capable of it. Hello. Ted Bundy. He was helping people. He was pretending to be all hurt and everybody wanted to be his hero. He was pretending to change tires. He was a gentleman helping people. Low grudge. He was good looking.
A
Zac Efron played him.
C
I just listened to your. Was it $30,000 friend request episode.
B
Oh.
C
And yeah, it's like the love bombing. And gentleman acts up front is like hypnosis. And that's everything we want.
B
It's everything that we want.
C
But then they're fucked.
B
And they prey on unmet needs. Those unmet needs.
C
And they can sense it from these people.
B
Yes. And so they know how to manipulate. So we decide. Me and my friends, they're in this now. Like, they are legitimately, like, they are hired. They think that they are. Are freaking. Like, what's the. What's the. They think they're Hawaii Five zero. What's the. Dude, whatever.
A
Yeah, that guy.
B
They think they're every. Whoever, Fred. Right. So I'm like, okay, do we call it. What do we do? What do you guys think we should do? And they're like. They're like, no, we are sitting here. I want to know if they're staying the night or whatever. So we give it until 5:30am wow.
C
And you left the club around 2. Ish. 3.
B
Yeah, I think it was like 3, I think. Okay.
A
Of all the nights out, though, this sounds. Sounds so fun. Like for your girlfriend. I genuinely feel that way because I think. Well, maybe not.
C
No.
A
You know what I mean?
C
If you texted me and you're like, I've got a case and it requires you to take a free trip to Orlando and. And maybe we'll be out all night, it's like, yeah.
B
I mean, legally, I have taken my son to get a haircut at a child's barber so that I could get video on my subject. Wow.
A
Hey, you're a businessman.
C
It's family owned business.
B
You do. I'm just saying, you do what you got. It's like the mob. Whatever.
C
It's like two birds, one stone.
A
Right?
B
So anyway, anyway, so we're sitting. We're all sitting in, my friend's minivan. She's soccer.
A
That part got you.
B
Griff almost lost his frigging diet Dr. Pepper on the microphone.
C
I forget where Mom's still.
A
It tastes for.
B
It's whatever it's all in a taste for. So we're. I mean, and. But listen, it was cool. Cause she got the goldfish, she got snacks. Cause you got kids, you got snacks. And so anyway, so we're sitting there and everybody's getting tired by this point. I'm like, how long do we stay? So we gave it till 5:30. We gave it.
C
Say that. You're the one asking.
B
Well, I was like, what do you guys think? Like what? Let's put in some input. And some. One of the girls was like, I am staying here until I see him again. And she's like, I'm not. And everybody else was like, bro, I'm exhausted. Like, let's. And I made the final call and I was like, you know, it's 5:30, there's been no activity. The lights are off. Like you don't know what's going. And we did the thing where one of us would like walk by the row of rooms to like, listen and we didn't hear nothing. Like there's. If we heard like moaning or screaming or something, maybe we could have like hung out. See, but by this time, I feel like everybody was drunk. They're probably all passed out. They've done the deed.
C
Or not. Because whiskey dick is real.
B
Or not. Because whiskey dick is real. But girls don't sometimes care about that. Sometimes they just want to snuggle. And that's true.
C
Which is cheating, right? Snuggling is cheating.
B
Yeah. And this guy's being in your hotel cheating.
C
Oh yeah. Okay. So I was asking the question.
B
He's like. He's like, good point. Griff is like, that's a pretty good.
C
I just want to make sure, like that, you know, the stocking is. Is resulting in like things you can. Yeah, exactly. Like. Cause you can't see them. You don't know verbatim what they're doing. But like, yeah, I guess that's an interesting question.
A
Like, yeah, yeah. I mean that's.
C
But is them being in the room evidence enough?
B
So I don't know. We call it at 5:30. We go to our room, everybody passes out, right? So we wake up about 10 o' clock in the morning. We said, checkout's at 11. So we're sitting there watching and I think we must have missed them. We don't. We don't see Anything like, we don't. Nobody. I think they must have left early or maybe they were still. Maybe they grabbed brunch and then they were driving home. I don't know. Whatever. Not my circus anymore. I'm done. So I call the client, and she is an attorney, so I want to meet with her in person. And I'm heading back towards, you know, we're heading back home, whatever.
A
That's a good question. When you had. If you had to tell your client what you found, would you want. Would you want.
B
Would you want someone to talk over the phone or would you want someone to tell you a good question?
C
I am. And this is so funny. Cause my team, on my show, I'm an in person kind of guy, especially when it's severe or intense news. So I would much rather be taken to a diner, which is where I would want to go and be told the news versus online. I just think it's more like your theoretical.
B
No, that's smart. A public place where you're surrounded by other people, you're surrounded by witnesses. That's where you go.
C
Totally.
A
Because have people ever gotten mad at you when you tell them the truth?
B
Yeah, and I want to be surrounded by other people. I don't want somebody to choke me out in the middle of like an alleyway.
C
Yeah, that's smartphone.
B
Because people get mad at me for finding the information. I'm like, you paid me to find this and you're mad at me for finding it.
C
And you like, just direct it because they're just.
B
They're mad and they don't have anybody else to get out on and you're there delivering the bad news.
C
Oh, so in that case, would a phone call be better then?
B
Well, it depends. So that's when you trust your gut and you're like, do I want to be around this person and share this information when they find them?
C
She's a lawyer.
B
And I'm like, she's a well known lawyer. Like, she's seen my work.
A
She already.
B
If she does anything to me, I will. I. She knows that I would be able to.
C
Yeah, totally. She knows the ramifications that she would say.
B
Yeah. So she knows the legal ram. She knows the legal system. She doesn't. Stupid. So I meet up with her and it happens to be like an ihop. I'm like, let's, you know, we'll go. Go get some lunch, brunch, whatever. It was just near her house. And so I'm telling her about what I found and I show her the video and this is probably the hardest part because it's like when anytime you have to tell anybody that kind of bad news, it's heartbreaking, but it's also, it's rewarding in a way that's like. There's something about knowing the truth that is so empowering, as hurtful as it is. And so that's great. Right. But you still have to consider like, this person you're hurting, this like, you are the person that has to deliver this bad news.
C
You're delivering the hurt. You're not hurting.
A
Your bedside manner has to be something.
B
Exactly. And also this is someone who she. She caught this guy cheating and she said, I'm outie. Like, I'm not giving you.
C
That's why I forgot that it literally.
B
Happened before he was stayed because of the baby. And so it's like, you know, she was like, I'm gonna give this fella another chance. Right. So she.
A
How many people did he make out with?
B
All of them.
A
Okay.
C
Like 300.
B
Literally all of them. I think there might have been a dude in there. I'm not sure.
C
But all that matters is he made out with one.
A
Yeah.
B
All the. Exactly. Snuggled. All the.
A
And that's enough.
B
That's enough.
C
Which I have to remember, I guess.
A
So I think every couple has to have that conversation.
C
Yeah, totally. There are rules with every couple. It was not within their rules that you can just go and cuddle someone in a random hotel.
B
Yeah. You're not cuddling someone.
C
You're cheating.
B
And I can't even prove that that didn't happen. So I give her the news and obviously she's really sad and she thanks me, she pays me, we split. Like, we go our separate ways.
C
She took it okay.
B
She was really sad. But like, she was like, man, like, I trust she was mad at herself. Cause she trusted this guy. And this is a very well educated woman who feels like I'm a well educated woman. How could I let this happen to me? Which many of our guests on the Dating Detectives, they say I felt so stupid. And that's so common because we feel like, how could we let this happen to us? But it's not something that we did. Like, we are not at fault. Like, do you know what I mean? So anybody who tells their story, story about a man or a woman or whoever, dog fishing them, it's. It's never. It's not about how smart or dumb you are. It's about this person just being really good at being an.
C
It's like human nature to trust or it should Be at least.
B
Yeah. It. Most people in general just. I'm like, interesting. How do y' all just trust? Like, he told you that one. He told you the grocery store, and you just believe him. All will. And they're like, yeah. And I'm like, good for you. I don't trust. I'm like, I don't believe.
A
I trust but verify.
B
That's where I trust but verify.
A
At this point, after this show, like, you can, you know, have your boundaries, have your caution, but I still believe in people. Like, I want to have hope.
B
And what sucks is that a lot of times we just don't get closure. We don't know what happens after that, after the case.
A
Sometimes done.
B
I don't get paid to follow up. But sometimes you just don't have that closure. But I do have closure.
A
Oh, thank goodness. She doesn't always have closure. So that's why I just got so excited.
B
Like, for the first few years as a P.I. i was like. I wanted to know more like, well, what happened, though. Don't.
C
Oh, so closure meaning. Oh, that the client has updated your.
A
Yeah.
B
Like, did they break up? Do they stay together? I don't know. Did she. Did she slip his throat? We don't know. Like, who. I don't know. And you can't just call and be like, hey, girl, so what happened? Like, that's so rude and unprofessional.
C
They've got to reach out to you.
B
So she reaches out to me, and she. Actually, I ended up on another one of her cases for one of her clients, and it made her remember to call me and say, hey, guess what? I just want to tell you what happened. So I gotta tell you what happened.
A
Okay.
B
So she. She confronts him about this. I was really, really drunk, you know, I'm. I'm really sorry. I didn't. Like, she. She confronts him right away, but she wants an opportunity to find out. Like, more like she wants to know.
A
I would want to know how many other times.
B
Yeah, like, if you're. If I caught you once. Cause someone happened to be there, thank God, to see you, and report it to me. And now the same scenario, going to a nightclub. And now I catch you again. Now I wanna know what other times there were. Right. So she decides. She's like, okay, we'll stay together, but only so that she has an opportunity to find out more. Because I feel like for her, and especially as an attorney, you're not gonna stop. Like, you want to get to the bottom of it. Like, attorneys are very bulldog. Like, they Want to know more? And so at home, and I was able to utilize his fingerprint, his biometric fingerprint on his phone when he was passed out drunk. Unlocks his phone. And she's searching through and she's like, I didn't find anything, but I'm just, something is wrong. So she finds a hidden app, like the hidden. You know, those apps Photo Vault.
A
There's a calculator.
B
Yeah, there's a calculator app that's actually. You put in a passcode or use your biometric fingerprint. And she's like this idiot. I just put his fingerprint. Again, it opens. She said, I went through every app and opened every one, and sure enough, it was one of those vault that it wasn't the calculator, but it was something. And she was able to open it. And it was an encrypted chat app in which he was able to chat with, share pictures, videos, intimate conversation with several different women over the last four years since the baby has been born.
C
Again, the like, once a cheater, always a cheater. Question.
B
He had hidden photos. He had, like, in, you know, an iPhone, they have hidden photos folder. And you need that biometric.
A
She's like, you don't know that. You should know.
B
That idiot was passed out. I just kept using his. His fingerprint and kept opening the freaking phone. And so that's a good.
C
Criminal or minimal. We have a segment on our show that's like, criminal or minimal. Something, you know, interpersonal. Yeah. Going through your partner's phone when they're drunk by using their biometrics. In this case, I think minimal.
A
I agree.
B
I have to admit that I did that to an ex boyfriend to find out he was cheating on me. And this was someone that I was falling so hard for. And had I not found that, I would have been victim to so many other things that I found out later.
C
Does the end justify the means? We say all the time.
B
Exactly.
A
And if it sucks, I'm like, I want to be like. Like, don't do it. Unless you find something, then do it.
C
You know what I mean?
B
That's saying, but how do you know? And so it's like, if you find something, then it's like, wow, I'm so glad you did that. But if you don't, then you're a jerk.
A
I also think that if they won't know, though, that's where for me, at least I can speak to.
B
Yeah, right.
A
Hopefully, if you could live with the guilt. Like one I can't see, I struggle.
B
I can live with the.
C
I live with the law. I can live with that bit of guilt. Because if you're giving me reason to doubt you and you've had a history of doing it, then, like, I'm sorry.
A
Yep, exactly.
C
I'm not.
B
But I would like to add that she did everything she could because she ended up filing for divorce once she knew, like, she wanted to make sure she had everything solid. I mean, we're talking timeline, screenshots, evidence, like, all the things, right? So she had all of this. And so that made her confident even though. But she wanted to do the right thing by her son. And so she says, listen, we're gonna do 50, 50 custody. Our son deserves both of us. Right? And so she did everything she could to make sure he was. She. She said, I don't want child support from you. She's like, he's a construction worker, not even a foreman. Like, he's like. He's.
A
You know what I mean?
B
Like, just whatever. Nothing wrong with you.
A
Know what I mean?
C
Yeah, no, totally.
B
She's like, listen, I don't need your money. I don't need anything from you. Like, I. I just want you to be in our childhood. Just be a good dad.
C
You can't be a good husband, be a good dad.
B
Same. Because I feel the same way with my son. Like, she did everything right. She tried to get him to take custody, and she was like, we're gonna do this. 50. 50. And he ended up splitting and taking a job in another state and left her and the baby. And she has not heard from him.
A
What? Hasn't heard from him, and his kid.
C
Has not heard from him, which is.
B
What is the real saddest part of the whole thing.
C
Yep.
A
But, I mean, they are better off, but that doesn't make it better.
B
At the end of the day, no matter how bad of a shitbag the dad is, that's still that baby's dad. And so that's the hardest part, is that that's still your dad. But anyways, I've looked up her social media, and it looks like they're happy. I mean, obviously, you can't tell anybody.
A
Totally.
B
I'm not gonna call her and be like, hey, so how's it going? Like, are you sad? Like, anything?
A
It sounds like she. She likes it.
C
It's like a good riddance thing, too. And it is what it is. It's like, she didn't choose for him. Him to move out of state, away from the two of them.
B
She did end up going to a different law firm and she made partner. So she's partner at a law firm. Like, this bitch is slim.
C
Yeah, totally.
A
He was probably holding her back a lot.
C
He made the decision for them, and it's like, at that point, it's out of my control.
B
Exactly.
A
With your little girls on the dance floor.
C
Yeah.
A
And your boys. Trips. Oh, man. Do you know if anything happened to any of the other husbands? Did anybody ever send a.
B
A.
A
A wife?
B
No idea. And I don't get paid enough to look it up.
C
Yep. Yeah.
A
But it sounds like this lawyer is gonna, like, make sure that everybody's taken care of if she.
B
I feel like. I feel like she may or may. She may have done well if she.
A
Should get into being into divorce law because she would have a lot of clients.
B
Right.
A
Group of friends.
C
Yeah.
B
So, Griff, what did you think? Like what? Like, what do you think you could do it? Just have your thoughts. What did you think a PI was like? Is it. Does it align with, like, what you would imagine a PI would do or, like, is.
C
I don't. I genuinely don't think I've given much thought to PIs, because. And this story, it's just. It's a totally different world. And so, like, I guess what, the stories that you present on the show and then obviously your job, it's like a double click into reality that I just haven't had reason to look into and thankfully. But also. But it's so interesting. And I think what I love about my show, and clearly your show, is human behavior is so fucking interesting.
B
Yes.
C
And it can all be explained by something. And so it's cool that you're giving people or your clients and the show, I guess, your listeners reason to think about why people are doing what they're doing. Because, like, fuck that guy. He definitely stepped out twice and then ran away.
B
And also, this stuff is real. Like, this stuff real. Some people listen to these stories and they're like, wait, really? And you're like, this stuff really happens?
C
100%.
A
And the minute you think it's not gonna happen to you, it's. The minute you're vulnerable. It might not happen, but you do have to just be. Yeah.
C
And it's happening to a lot of people. And so, you know, our stories on our show are.
A
Yeah. Tell us.
C
Really specific and stupid and fun. But we, you know, it's comedy, but we're not afraid to lean into the real. And the more that our show grows, the more that people reach out and are like, something similar happened to me. Or even if you think it's super niche.
B
Totally.
C
And so I think. And I think especially for women, which is such a gag, this is so cool. Like, the more that we share our stories, the more that we can, like, I don't know, be, like, stronger together and not feel super alone and, like, stupid.
B
Well, that's petty. That's why I like petty.
A
Oh, we love. So tell us exactly if somebody's never heard of Petty Crimes, what the show really is about. Because I do think it makes you think. Like, I'll listen to the show and I'll be like, oh, I didn't know anybody else got annoyed by that too. Like, it just makes you feel connected.
C
To people, for sure. Which is my favorite. That's, like, why I moved to la. It's like, with what I create and what I'm in, I just want people to see me or hear me or watch what I'm doing and feel a little less alone. And it seems like our show is doing that. But Petty Crimes is week over week, and our listeners submit crimes. I'm doing air quotes that are from their lives or someone they know that are by nature really stupid or petty. And then we bring them onto the show, into the court, the petty crimes court. And we take turns presenting these stories and just kind of dissecting them and figuring out the why, the where, the what, the what, the fucks. Exactly. And then, you know, based on the characters in the story, we go through the characters and we say, like, who's guilty? Who's not guilty? And again, we're not. You're a P.I. so, like, you have some legitimacy behind what you say. We do not. We are like, we're petty. Kira's a writer for snl. She's brilliant and funny and smart, and I'm an actor and a retired model.
A
Brilliant and funny and smart and hot.
C
So it's just like. It's just like having conversations with your friends, just giving it structure. What we say is by no means law. Except if it is.
B
Except if it is.
C
But yeah, and we have a segment. Criminal or minimal. So, for instance, criminal or minimal? Not taking your shoes off, going into a house.
B
Minimal.
A
Depends on the house.
C
Oh, it depends on the house.
B
It's your responsibility to tell me what you want me to do.
A
Yeah. If it's a no shoes house and you're not respecting them and they ask respectfully, then, sure. My house. I don't give a shit.
B
If you say, take your shoes off and they don't take their shoes off, then you whack them with a baseball bat. Like, this is a show.
C
This is the show.
A
So whacking someone with a baseball hat. Bat. If they don't take their shoes off. Criminal or minimal quite.
C
I mean, criminal. Right. It's like personal injury lawyer.
B
Criminal.
A
Yeah. Okay. Hear that?
C
Did you whack her with the baseball bat?
A
No, she threatened to if I took my shoes off.
C
Well, threaten's different.
B
Thank you so much for being here. You are.
A
We love.
B
Been amazing.
A
And everybody who listens to us will also love it.
C
Oh, same. There's such a, like. Like, crossover with our shows. This has been so fun. I like. I like. I like stepping into this world. It's like dark almost. It's not dark. It's like in the shadows.
B
Yeah.
C
And that is.
B
That's why we call it true crime light.
C
Oh, that's. Ours is like super light. Like, blindingly like. Yeah, but this was. This was actually. This. This made sense. This was really cool to listen to. And it's not dissimilar to what we do. It's just very different world.
B
Thank you for being here and giving your perspective too. Of course, Sam.

This episode of The Dating Detectives centers on another installment of "Mackenzie Undercover," where co-host and private investigator Mackenzie Fultz recounts her covert surveillance operation at Orlando's CityWalk. The case in question: an attorney suspects her construction worker husband is cheating again during a supposed "guys weekend." Joined by guest Griff Stark Ennis from the Petty Crimes podcast, the trio discusses infidelity, the nuances of consent and disclosure in dating, techniques of PI surveillance, and the messy realities of modern relationships—all with humor and empathy.
The conversation is candid, witty, and deeply empathetic, balancing investigative intrigue with real talk about heartbreak and healing. Listeners gain insight into PI methods, the legal/ethical landscape of evidence, and the importance of intuition and boundaries in relationships. Even as the story unfolds with heartbreak and betrayal, the trio uplifts and normalizes self-trust, due diligence, and the power of finding out the truth.
