Legal officials at the City of London Corporation are drawing up a bill that would enable the removal of Andrew Mountbatten Windsor's Freedom of the City of London after its city solicitor concluded that the existing mechanism for stripping the honor is defective and defunct. Got to make sure you go through the process, right? Yo. If the UK loves anything, it's a process. The corporation had previously stated in March that the honor could not be revoked. However, it has since acknowledged that there is currently no effective lawful mechanism to. To carry out a removal and is now working to create one. We understand why people want this matter resolved as quickly as possible, and we share that desire. A corporation spokesman said, well, yeah, look, nobody wants to be associated with Prince Andrew unless you're trying to tank whatever product that you're putting out. Or if you want people to look at the honorifics that you hand out and find them laughable, then, sure. But I find it hard to believe that any sort of company or certainly any sort of, you know, city hall would want anything to do with Prince Andrew. Should the bill be approved, it would open the way for elected members to decide whether the former prince's freedom should be taken away. Not his freedom as far as, you know, going to jail, but the Freedom Medal, the status, the honorific, you know, the things that he loves so much, all the things that were stripped from him. That's what he cares about, the status, right? That's all Prince Andrew ever wanted to be. The guy always been jaded that he wasn't the heir, always been jaded that it was his brother who was set to rule. And so he acted out, right? Oh, I'm gonna be a dick. I'm gonna be a quote unquote playboy. Randy, Andy, the whole thing. And that would have been fine with me because at the end of the day, I don't have to agree with everybody's lifestyle choices. I don't have to agree with what you do. And I certainly don't expect everybody to live their life the way I would. So if he was just a dick and just a narcissist and just somebody that, you know was reprehensible, then I would shrug and move on. But that's not the case. We're not talking about somebody that was just accused of enabling Jeffrey Epstein. We're talking about somebody that's credibly accused of taking part in the abuse. And the person that accused him, I believe. And it's not just words from a page. I heard the story from Virginia herself. And let me tell you, if anybody deserves what's happening to them and more, it's this dirty, rotten son of a Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. Mr. Mountbatten Windsor was granted the freedom in 2012 by virtue of patrimony, as his father, Prince Philip, had held the status of Freeman. So it was by birth, like everything else, by birth. Not by merit, not earned. Oh, I was born a prince of the blood. So let me get X, Y and Z and if you don't give it to me, I'll go tell my mom. That's been his whole entire mo. His whole life. And he's been able to get away with it because everybody enabled his. Nobody wanted to get on the Queen's bad side, right? Nobody wanted the Queen mad at them, so they weren't going to pursue Prince Andrew as far as his. When he's acting like an idiot, running around like Joffrey at the palace. And when you're uncontrollable as a child, you become unmanageable as an adult. The corporation's efforts to resolve the matter have been underway for several months. In April, it disclosed that a letter had been sent to Mr. Mountbatten Windsor inviting him to voluntarily give up the honor. But no response was received. Oh, wait, you want him to do the honorable thing and voluntarily give that up? You have a better chance of hitting the lottery. This man has no desire to do the right thing. He has no desire to step up and speak out about what he knows, what he saw, who was there, what Ghislaine Maxwell was up to, and more importantly, what he was up to. That day is never going to come. And anybody waiting for it is going to be waiting a long ass time. The following month, in May, the Court Common Council passed a motion formally censoring him for his refusal to relinquish the freedom and directed officers to pursue lawful avenues for its removal. Now, just as a suggestion, if you're going to have some kind of honorific, there has to be some mechanism to strip the person who's holding it, right. What if they do something wrong? What if they turn out to be Jimmy Savile? What if they turn out to be Prince Andrew? You have to have a mechanism to get rid of them, right? At the July 23rd meeting of the Court, Deputy Marianne Fredericks requested an update on the progress being made towards stripping the title. In response, Policy Chairman Deputy Chris Hayward outlined the findings of a draft legal opinion prepared by the Comptroller and City Solicitor alongside the City Remembrancer, whatever that is. The provisional gist of their assessment, Mr. Hayward explained, was that the current disfranchisement process, the formal mechanism through which the honor would ordinarily be withdrawn, is defective and defunct. To overcome this legal obstacle, the Court would need to pass an act of Common Council, effectively granting itself the power of disenfranchisement. Mr. Hayward told members that the law officers were additionally examining scenarios under which the freedom might be automatically revoked. Well, I mean, you would think that there'd be some kind of, you know, standards, right? You have to have a certain sort of behavior to get this kind of award. I mean, at the very least you can't be accused credibly of abusing a traffic 17 year old girl. I would think that would be the very level based standard, right? I mean, that's what you would hope, but I guess not. I guess they never could envision someone being as big of a degenerate as Prince Andrew. Once the Court has been empowered to disenfranchise, a separate report specifically addressing Mr. Manbatten Windsor's case could be brought forward, giving members a chance to consider and determine whether removal is warranted. While I have a hard time believing that anybody wouldn't want them removed, I would say that most people that have a chance to vote on it are going to vote for Prince Andrew, not to represent their city. Work is now progressing to finalize the law officer's opinion and produce a draft bill which is scheduled to come before the Policy and Resource Committee and its September meeting. Before proceeding to the full court order in October, Mr. Hayward stressed that the process in the individual case must be treated as distinct matters, saying members must first agree the process for removing the freedom before considering a specific case of Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. To ensure the process is fair, these two matters, I'm advised, must be considered separately. Oh, we're worried about fair. I'll tell you what, why don't you go ask Virginia about fair? Oh, that's right, you can't. Why don't you ask Maria about fair? Or Annie? Why don't you ask one of them? He also relayed a warning from the corporation's legal officers. The City Solicitor and the Remembrancer have both asked me to point out that this is a substantial piece of work with significant constitutional implications which need to be carefully considered by members to ensure that the new process is, as far as possible, lawful and workable with no unintended consequences, whatever that means. Sounds like a built in cover story for them not doing what they want to do. The former prince was arrested in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office, but was subsequently released without charge. He has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
