Interviewer
What's up everyone? And welcome to another episode of the Epstein Chronicles. In this episode we're gonna dive right back in to the interview with the warden from MCC. Question alright, so at 8am Efren Reyes is actually leaving, not coming back to the mcc. Answer yeah, Question alright, great. And then it just goes on from there. What happens throughout the day and we're going to get into these things in more detail. So I don't want to go through each thing because we're going to have to get into it later. But so this information is stuff that you guys were compiling and you were providing to Mr. Adapted Answer. That would probably be information that we sent up to him. Question okay, great. And then this is all the updates that occurred afterwards. Let's see. Why is that highlighted? So here is something. Why do they. Why do you know? In this one it would be updated. This one is 7:00pm 7:00pm and then 7:32am PIO notified of incident by the warden. Is that just put that in the wrong place or something? And it says inmate Reyes released from court. Answer Indiscernible. Question Indiscernible just in the wrong spot. Indigenous. It was made for August 10th. Question yeah, okay, so the next one that is a big discrepancy here. It just shows the next update you have that under August or Saturday, August 10th. Answer this can't be. This doesn't make. I don't know because it says PIO notified of incident by the warden. I was off that day on Friday. I wasn't at work. Question yeah, so that's why I think that they so the next one I'm looking at shows that the point is now under Saturday August 10th. Answer yeah, I don't know why it would be under Friday because I wasn't, I wasn't working. Question so you were actually off on August 9th? Answer yes. Question all right, you and everyone else. Answer huh? Question Everybody was off that day. Question yeah, I didn't come back to work until when I got called there was a suicide at the indiscernible. Question okay, so all of this if I can have that back if you don't mind. So all of this, all right is it safe to assume that as this went on and specifically the last one that we have is Tuesday August 13, 2019 the Tuesday 13th of August. Would that be the most accurate timeline? Answer it should be, but I don't want to attest to it. Question I'm just saying based is there any reason for you to believe that the timeline that were provided or in any way it was determined that, you know, we should add a point that actually didn't occur or is it safe to assume that the last one that was sent would be the most accurate one? Answer that's how it typically works, you know but I can't, I can't attest to it of whether it was accurate. But typically the last one that you send usually, you know, if you have to make corrections, you make the corrections. Add information if you have to. Question sure. Okay great. When I show you things, it's not attesting to it but I'm going to ask you just to initial and date and that's just to say specifically that this is the document we looked at and we spoke. It's absolutely not attesting to it. It's not saying that this stuff is accurate. Answer and so I write this date and put reviewed on it or Question Nope, just your initial and date. I'm going to do this last one just the top of it. I'm not going to have you do every single one and I'm going to put this in the pile back in the paperclip and I'm going to hand it to my friend over here. Answer what's the date? The 18th question 27th thank you sir for initialing and dating that. All right I'm going to just actually because it's the timeline I'm going to keep it in front of me because we might have to reference it. Mr. Hayes jumps in the lawyer I can tell that this is going to be a long ass interview. Question it's going to be pretty Long. That's where I was trying to, you know. All right, so July 23rd incident that was. Do you recall what happened on July 23rd with inmate Tartaglioni and Mr. Epstein? Do you recall? Answer I recall the investigation that couldn't determine if they had an altercation or I believe, if it was an attempt at suicide. Question. Alright, so Something happened on July 23rd where Mr. Epstein was found with like. With like a noose around his neck. Answer it wasn't determined. It was, you know, that he was lying in his cell. But I don't recall the. The specifics of the report, but I know it went back and forth where there was a suicide attempt or an issue with an inmate. Question Tartaglioni. Answer yeah, with Tartaglioni. Question alright, so these are emails that were reviewed in regards to that incident. So this one is specifically from. It says redacted was the. Your aw. Answer that is aw. Question. Did he send it to you? Answer Right. Question and this is a memo from. It says, Mr. Redacted is the operations lieutenant. Answer yeah, lieutenant, she's a female. Question. Right. This is where I wanted to ask you if you knew about this. It specifically says. So it was originally, I guess, sent from Captain, redacted to AW Skipper. From redacted to you. And her note to you says from the memo attached, the information I received is not what I was told happened. Answer. Right. Question. So what I wanted to know is, and I guess would you like me just to refresh your memory to really quickly read what she said happened so we can figure out what it is that didn't happen? Okay. Yeah. Question all right, so this is subject possible suicide attempt again, July 23, 2019. It says on July. Let me just sit back so you can just kind of read along with me. Would you mind if I sit next to you? No problem. I'm vaccinated. Just so you know. It says, On July 23, 2019, at approximately 1:27am a call for assistance on the Special Housing Unit was announced by the control center. Upon my arrival, I was informed that an inmate had attempted suicide and proceeded to cell Z05124LAD. I observed inmate Jeffrey Epstein, 763-18-054, lying in the fetal position on the floor of his cell or wearing a T shirt and boxers. He was breathing heavily and was snoring. I called out to inmate Epstein and observed him flicker his eyes and continue snoring. His neck was red with no abrasions. I observed no further injuries to his person. An attempt was made to get the inmate to get the inmate to stand on his own with negative results. The inmate was placed in hand restraints and the staff was directed to retrieve the stretcher. As inmate Epstein was being placed on the stretcher by responding staff, he would open his eyes, observe staff and when staff made eye contact with him, he would hurriedly shut his eyes. The inmate was taken to HA unit. Was it that the health care. Yeah, Health services. Dressed in a suicide smock and placed on suicide watch while awaiting the arrival of an inmate companion. Inmate Epstein sat on the redacted of the bed and and began moving forward as if he was attempting to fall over headfirst. When I looked away, he straightened up and as I turned and looked at him again, he attempted the same act. I laid him down on the bed and directed him to cease his action where he'd be placed in restraints for his safety. At that moment, he stated okay, I won't do it again and gave the thumbs up. Because of his unpredictable behavior, the decision was made to have the staff member observe inmate Epstein. I had left the HA unit in order to make staff notifications. Moments later, I spoke with officer Redacted who stated that inmate Epstein was alert and had indicated that his cellmate Tartaglione, 785-14-054 had attempted to kill him and had been harassing him. He stated that the inmate had indicated that he had informed his attorney of this matter. I photographed and spoke with inmate Tartaglione who stated that he was asleep with his headphones on when he felt something hit his leg and said redacted. What are you doing? He didn't answer, so he got up, turned on the light or so. Yeah, he got up, turned on the light and saw him with a string around his neck. He stated that he then called the guards and they ran down. Upon further questioning, inmate Tartaglioni stated that he sleeps on the bottom bunk but gave it to inmate Abstein because he's old. He stated that he sleeps on the floor on a mattress. He stated when he got up, he couldn't remember if he sat up or stood up to check on Epstein.

Interviewer
He stated that Epstein was sitting on the floor leaning to one side with his eyes opened but wasn't responding. He stated that the last time he saw him he was snoring really loud. Inmate Epstein stated that he comes in from legal visit at approximately 8pm and staff handed him a copy of the Daily News. Nick was on the floor reading the Daily News. He stated that he had given it to him. He stated that Tartaglioni mentioned that he had been in court all day in Westchester and was carrying on at that point. Inmate Tartaglioni paused as if he was making the story up as he went along and stated that Tartaglioni stated these effing n words this place is inhumane. I I wish I could report it. Redacted Officer that N word hobbit. He then turned to a page in the Daily News that had his picture on it and stated that Epstein was worth $77 million. Epstein then stated that he took his picture, balled it up, threw it in the garbage. I asked Epstein what happened prior to the staff arrival. He stated that approximately at 1am he had gotten up to get a drink of water. As he gets up every 30 minutes, he remembered walking back to his bunk and walking back to his bunk and waking up with staff there in his cell. I asked if he had waken up and seen staff, why didn't he respond when we were calling out to him? He stated that he only remembered hearing himself making a noise like snoring. When asked about the allegation against his cellmate, he stated that he was told if he heard him, staff wouldn't care. Duty Medical. How do you pronounce that name? Redacted was notified and briefed. It was determined that no further medical attention was needed. A medical assessment was not conducted at the time of the incident due to the fact that there was no medical staff available after 10pm upon their arrival of medical staff, inmate Epstein was examined and treated by Redacted and he was treated for a circular line of arrhythmia at the base of his neck, one section on the front with marks of friction and a small one on his left knee. So sorry that was so lengthy but so again the question would be in this is this. Does anything in here strike you as inaccurate? No question. So when redacted says that in the attached memo the information I received is not what I was told happened. Do you know what she's referring to answer. I think she. If I recall that she told that she said that it was an attempted suicide, but then she got additional information that it might have been Epstein and Tartaglioni having an issue in his cell. Question. And what. And my understanding is that SIS came up with inconclusive findings. Answer. In the investigation. Question one, what's your belief that happened? Answer. I can't speculate. I don't want. I mean, I don't know. You know, with the injuries on the neck, I don't know if it was a suicide, and I don't know based on Epstein's statement, that was something done to him, so couldn't prove what it was. Question. Okay, and is it. Is there any reason for us to know or believe that it was one or the other? I know you're trying to. Not to speculate, but answer. I mean, I would, you know, you have there to be medical departments who did an assessment and, you know, typically you could say you come to a conclusion from injuries, from physical injuries, but we weren't even able to do that. Question. So according to the medical assessment, your understanding is it that they weren't able to tell if someone. He gets cut off by the warden. That from what I. If I can and I don't, I read it, but I don't know. I remember on the report, they were unable to conclude what would you know? What, did he attempt suicide or was he assaulted? Question. And were you satisfied with that response or did you think that they missed something? I think they looked into it and I think it was, you know, you couldn't look into it any further. It was a suicide or it was assault. So we separated them. Question. Okay, but there is. So it didn't say like keep digging or warrant he gets cut off by the warden. I mean, they interviewed them, they asked the questions you had, the medical assessment. Conclusions could have been drawn from it. All right, folks, we're gonna wrap up right here. And in the next episode, dealing with the topic, we're gonna pick up where we left off. All the information that goes with this episode can be found in the description box.
