Dustin Ross
Welcome to the Friend Zone. My name is Dustin.
Francesca
I'm Francesca, also known as. Hey, friend. Hey.
Asante
My name is Asante. This is the Friend Zone.
Dustin Ross
Let's start the show. If you don't sit your goddamn ass down with them spit spaces in between.
Francesca
Your teeth, it never gets old.
Dustin Ross
Yeah, no, it don't never get old. Right. And this person actually has spaces that I'm. I'm talking Dixie Chicks wide open spaces in between. 18.
Francesca
Okay, I'm triggered.
Dustin Ross
And in between their teeth and tongue. So recently there was an interview that went viral. Jewel Santana, rapper Jewel Santana, that is. Yeah, he was on the no Funny Shit Show. Right? No Funny Shit Show. That's the name of this show. No Funny Shit, which actually makes perfect sense because it wasn't nothing funny about what his ass said. He was recently on the no Funny Shit show. And he said, and I quote, kids these days don't need to learn how to read. That pregnant pause right there was for a fact. He said that children don't need to learn how to read. He said, quote, you can listen to a book on YouTube. I believe common sense is better than everything. The clip is about one minute long. We're going to suffer through the entire clip so that we can hear this and then we're gonna break it down. Like Tevin Campbell said. Nah, but seriously, though, we gotta start teaching our kids, though, just. Just that, just financial wealth and literacy and all that that early. Because by the time they get to ninth grade, they should be just learning how to start businesses and how to. But they don't really need to know how to read. I ain't gonna say that. I say that respectfully. I'm not saying that in a way to be literate, because you're not supposed to be literate.
Asante
Diabolical. What's one point? Reading or math?
Francesca
Math.
Asante
Math.
Dustin Ross
Told you.
Asante
Math.
Dustin Ross
I think you could get A you could listen to a book on YouTube. You can still obtain the information. You don't have to know how to read. Reading and understanding. I believe common sense is better than everything. I'm a common sense. I'd rather have zero book smarts and common sense. Be able to read the room, be able to read life, be able to read people. I try to understand people, understand what I'm saying. Like, nowadays, you can listen to a book. I just listen to the 48 laws of power. Not too. You could listen to that too. They got apps. You could put it in and it'll read it to you. Are you crazy? They asked Jules, what about reading your contracts? He said, well, you ain't got to read that. They got apps. You can put it in there and read it to you. Then he says, are you crazy? That's what he responded with. He defended the comment that he made, saying that kids don't know how to read. Then he said that he would rather have zero book smarts but have common sense. Well, guess what, Jules, Even a broken clock is right once a day, and you do have zero book smarts. Congratulations. Wish is my command. Dumb motherfucker.
Francesca
Why not both?
Dustin Ross
Why not both? You can't have one without the other. To be honest with you, they actually work in tandem. But you probably don't know what that word means. Here's the thing about it. You have to have shit for brains, okay? In order to even attempt to debate and argue that people don't need to know how to read because they need to know how to start businesses.
Francesca
In ninth grade.
Dustin Ross
This is a father. He is too.
Francesca
You took the words out my mouth. I was gonna say, and this is someone that's raising human beings.
Asante
Yikes.
Dustin Ross
I feel for Kimbella. I feel for Kimbella. I see why she looks crazy. She's wearing pain. You know what I'm saying? Can you imagine trying to get him to understand what you mean? Can you imagine trying to explain yourself to this dumb motherfucker? Now I'm. I love his music. God knows I dos. I love his music, but I kill him dead if he keeps telling kids they don't need to know how to read. What the is wrong with this loose tooth, windy mouth? Kids don't see earth how to read. What is wrong with him? What is wrong with you? I don't know. You can actually do have too much time on your hands. I know, Jules. Santana did a bit. I know that was tough, you know, And I know that that is mental warfare on people. They won. They won the war because he's lost his goddamn mind.
Francesca
Crazy work.
Dustin Ross
Stop talking like Facebook. Stop talking like you know what I'm saying. Stop talking like some shit that somebody told you with their eyebrows up because they didn't even believe what the fuck talking about. Okay? Stop repeating this bullshit that you've heard that somehow some way makes you feel good and comfortable about yourself or what. But you sound like an idiot because what you're saying is stupid. Vapid is the word. V, A, P, I, D, empty. Okay? Tumbleweed rolling across the skull on the inside because there's nothing there. You need to learn how to read. You're a rapper who uses words and language for a living. How are you doing what you do? Vibes, chatgpt. You probably can't even spell that since you don't know how to read, you confused motherfucker. Dumb question marks all around your head.
Asante
You can't read the selection.
Dustin Ross
How do you know how to find it and search for it? Navigate to use the tools you're referencing, you moron. He's an idiot. And I can't even believe he said. And then it was a dumb motherfucker sitting next to him talking about clap.
Asante
He right.
Dustin Ross
Clap. Math.
Francesca
No, did not hear that.
Dustin Ross
I just don't say A, I, N, T, S, H, I, T. That's what it is.
Francesca
The wrong time for that. Messaging, too.
Dustin Ross
He don't know what time it is because he can't read the clock. So he's just living. That motherfucker is in the moment. Yeah.
Asante
Wow.
Dustin Ross
Yeah.
Asante
Yikes.
Dustin Ross
And he probably had to make them. Oh, no, that's license plates either way it goes. Okay? The point is. Shut the fuck up. If you ain't singing a song, rapping a song, shut the fuck up. You don't need to be talking anyway, because it sounds like it hurts.
Francesca
I'm stunned. I don't even have commentary.
Dustin Ross
Yeah, he doesn't have a commentary.
Francesca
I'm stunned that someone would say this and mean it.
Dustin Ross
He should have been in Wicked, the Fiero, the Scarecrow. He could have been in that. That's him. Dumb. Dumb as a box of rocks. Dumb, stupid, airhead bimbo. He's a fucking bimbo. You know what he is? You know Santana is. He's a ditz. That's what you said is a fucking ditz. That's what this nigga is. And he needs to shut up and watch Sesame street. Pbs. He need to go buy a house. You got so much money, rapper nigga, go buy a house in Mr. Rogers neighborhood. Because that's who the fuck you need to be spending time with. Your idle time need to be spent being taught. You need to be. You know what Jules Santana need to be a pupil. That's what he needs to be. He needs to be somewhere being a pupil, learning concepts stem. That's what that motherfucker needs. Just dumb talking about. You don't even know steam. He need that.
Asante
I knew that was coming next. I knew she was next.
Dustin Ross
I have never. I have just never been like Kenya Moore said. The great Kenya Moore on Real Housewives of Atlanta. It's almost hurtful to watch her be so dumb. It is. It's almost hurtful to watch him be so dumb and stupid as a rap music fan. Unreal. So let's bring back Reading Rainbow.
Asante
Let's sound like that.
Dustin Ross
Make sure the cable on over there in the Santana household because he needs to watch. You know what he need to watch? Ms. Rachel. That's what he need to watch at tab time. And he needs to watch tab time. Tabitha. Maybe that's what we need to do. He needs to sit down with Tabitha Brown and she can help him understand in the simplest of terms and the softest of voices. She can help him to understand how to read and why it's important. Dumb. Stupid, dumb. Dumb and stupid. Anyway, with that being said and. And definitely not understood by him, which he would he. You know how he would probably spell stunned STD N D?
Francesca
Damn.
Dustin Ross
That's how he would spell it. He's a moron. He's dumb. He's dumber. I'm not gonna bring nobody else into this, but it's another person who'll be on the mic that can't read either. Anyway, welcome to the friend zone. You're usually looking all things mental wealth, mental health, mental hygiene. Cause who in the hell wants to be without a brain like Jules Santana to open. Come on in. We open. Just open. I just. I. I've just never seen. Just like the burned saloon doors on your forehead just blowing in the wind, you know what I'm saying? As dumb thoughts come in and out of your head. You can't read calculator needing finger tracing. Motherfucker. I just. I could keep going, but I'd have to use some more words and apparently that's not cool around me. I'm not stunned right to speak. I wish he was. At least you could. At least you can write what you want to say. You might not be able to speak it, but you could write. You could transcribe your thoughts, couldn't you?
Francesca
Crazy.
Dustin Ross
Welcome to the friend zone. How y' all doing?
Asante
Shit better than Joel Santana.
Francesca
My God. Today. How are y' all doing?
Dustin Ross
Dr. Seuss needing ass, nigga. This is why this is. And it all goes back to the government for me. This is why y' all losing that PBS funding pisses me off. This is why you need it. We ain't even gotta look at the kids. We can look at him. This is why you need it right here. Illiteracy. Now, go on. How's your weekends?
Francesca
Y' all look great. Thank you. How are your weekends? What y' all get up to?
Dustin Ross
Reading our book for the Lituation.
Francesca
Okay.
Dustin Ross
Patreon.com the friends on podcast. Come on, join us. You know, come jump in the ropes with us and jump. We would love to have you, but. No, I had a good weekend. I. Again, I've been in work mode. This weekend is. This is it. We a couple days away. Michael Jackson. This is it. Propofol. You know what I'm saying? We. I have a show in Charlotte this Sunday, November 30th. I'm so excited. 3pm it's an afternoon show. Matinee. Cause we came. We love it. And shout out to my boy, Don Juan Clark. Don Juan is opening up the show. It's gonna be a great time. So just been trying, you know, trapping and getting it together for that. Getting it together for Miami on December 4th. And another show on another date that I'm announcing on Friday. So, yeah. Yeah, you know, good times. What about y'? All?
Francesca
Asante.
Asante
My weekend was good. Was reading as well. I got a couple of different books I'm trying to, like, finish, because as we had to go back to this book. And I was like, I ain't finished that book. So I was like, let me see if I can go through some other ones. I haven't finished. Did not finish. But I started another writing project, which just annoyed the fuck out of me. But this is one that I'm gonna carry into the new year. I've decided that I'm going to be working on something for black men. And I'm excited to do that next year.
Dustin Ross
Yeah.
Asante
Yeah. It's going to be really interactive. It's going to be something that, you know, I want to make a space for black men to kind of come together and talk to each other. I've always wanted that. I've always, you know, seen that in various formats. So now it's like I want to add to that conversation in my own little way. And I got a name out the way, like I was, like, going through it. I was like, oh, okay. Name. Ooh. Okay. Event. Oh, okay. Intentions. Like, I just was doing everything. Like, it was. I was on fire. You know when you have that. That thing that just makes you just go. And, like, you're just able to, like, get done, even though you're creating something brand new?
Francesca
Is that, like, surge? Yeah, that too.
Asante
That, too.
Dustin Ross
Okay.
Asante
Yeah, my weekend was really good. What about you, friend?
Francesca
It was good, too. I had a good. Well, I was telling Dustin before we started recording, why was there a murder in the garage of my gym? I'm still kind of like, whoa, 187. I mean, crazy. And I was also saying how one of the craziest parts of being from New York is that.
Dustin Ross
Desensitized.
Francesca
It's so awful. It really is. Cause that's nothing to be desensitized about. But I saw the police tape when I pulled up, asked what was going on to the policeman. They said. And I was like, damn. And then I went and parked.
Dustin Ross
Niggas get shot every day, B. That's legit.
Francesca
And I worked out. And then when I got home, I thought about it. I was like, girl, that's dark. What's wrong with us? It was so American and terrible. And so I'm gonna switch gyms because I have no business frequency.
Dustin Ross
Somewhere I should have been tripping, right.
Francesca
I had to really reel myself in, like, now that's not cool. You went and did your quads.
Asante
Been there.
Francesca
Okay. But, yeah, so it was a strange weekend, but otherwise holiday week, which I. It's funny because I'm not, like, a big holiday person, but I love the aspect of, like, friends and family, right. And how you make it more of a thing to see them and be around them. And so I'm excited for that part. Just, we have family here now this week, and then just a bit of travel I'm hoping to do next month to, like. I was mentioning. I want to see everyone. So, yeah, just feeling good. Told y' all I had been in a slump, but I'm, like, feeling like I'm out of it. So. Yeah, I'm really happy about that. I was actually talking to Kia yesterday because she was like, sis, put me on. She was like, how did you get out? I was like, let's talk through it, sis. Because, you know, sometimes you have to nudge each other on the little hacks that you're figuring out and see what can work.
Dustin Ross
So, yeah, I'm glad y' all being good black women to each other, you know?
Francesca
What?
Dustin Ross
I mean, sisters, girl. I got your back, girl. What's going on?
Francesca
All right. I love her so much.
Asante
I had called Kia the other day and she ain't answered, so I called her again. Cause I decided I felt like I wanted to be annoying. And then Jade texted me and said.
Dustin Ross
She'Ll call you back.
Asante
I was like, oh, my bad.
Francesca
She's like, we working.
Asante
You know how you do something just to get a reaction? I want a reaction out of key. And then I got. I went out of J and I.
Dustin Ross
Was like, ah, damn. What you asked for versus what you got.
Francesca
No, you didn't. But yes, I'm feeling really good. It's definitely been a fabulous weekend. Dustin, do you guys have any announcements? Anything else that you'd like the listeners to know about before we jump and jump in?
Dustin Ross
Not over here, no. I done told y' all about my damn business.
Francesca
Just in case. Just want to check.
Asante
Just shout out to the Patreon folks, the gated community. Thank you all for attending the Wind Down. We had to do that a little bit early since it's Thanksgiving this week, so you all can experience your loved ones. Yes, it was very, very fun.
Francesca
We had a good.
Asante
That Charlesa even popped up now. I don't even know if it was the right Charlesa, but that was.
Francesca
Like.
Asante
I didn't confirm, but I'm glad it was. Shout out to you, Charles. That was so funny. We had so much fun with you guys. Just so you know, we are going on break next month, so you have that notice in advance. So if you're part of the gated community, you're going to be joining us for the Wind down next month. It will be happening on the 17th of December. That's 12, 17, 25. 12 17, 2025. Anyway, yeah, that'll still be on a Wednesday. Just not the last Wednesday of the month. Just our last Wednesday before we take our break. But we will still be around. Guys, I just want to make sure the gated community knows what's up. If you don't even know what the gated community is, now is your time to shine by going to patreon.com the Friend Zone podcast where you can get more information, more premium content, and to see a little bit more of the Friend zone if you like. That's all.
Francesca
Absolutely. And we're reading a really great book right now. It's called the Measure by Nikki Erlich. Oh, yeah. For those of you watching, it's such a really cool sci fi. Sci fi concept, but also really cool social commentary. That is spot on to a lot of what we're experiencing right now, which is always eerie. It's the author's debut novel and I think she did a phenomenal job for coming out the gates. Also New York Times bestseller. So shout out to you, Nikki Ehrlich. We're having a great time discussing it. I'm facilitating the conversation and I'm just loving all the themes that are being pulled. And also our audience's engagement. I love the book club. It really is like my favorite. And we're also watching Unlocked Family Secrets, hosted by Dustin Ross on own. Dustin, I don't know if you want to tell folks to come watch it.
Dustin Ross
Yeah, tune in Mess mess, mess Mess central. Its name speaks for itself. That's what it is. It's Family Secrets Unlocked. Lots of twists, lots of turns, and sometimes it's good to think about other people's shit and escape your own. So you can join us for a deep dive. We have a lot of laughs over there and it's a lot of aha moments. So come join us. Yes, Unlock Family Secrets. It airs on own. You can watch it wherever Google tells you to. When you look up where to watch it.
Francesca
And that's it for patreon.com forward/the friend Zone podcast. Come hang with us. Let's jump into the black business of the week. Dusta Ross, you actually said you had one for us today.
Dustin Ross
That's right. Shout out to Issa White on Instagram who sent me a message and let me know about this black owned woman owned line of Invisalign grills. Okay. Dope, right?
Francesca
Ooh, she's here actually.
Dustin Ross
Do you know about it? Yep.
Francesca
Yeah, she just had a. She's having a popup or she's here now, but I got a ton of messages. People being like, you gotta pull up on her.
Dustin Ross
See, look at you being hip and having your ear to the streets. Yeah, I heard about her.
Francesca
Our listeners make me cool, you know, 100%.
Dustin Ross
So again, these are Invisalign Grills, you guys. They're patent pending. Her company is called Ease the Brand and you can go on Instagram and go to just like it sounds, Ease E A S E, the brand that's the Instagram handle where you can find all their information. And if you want to go onto the website, you can go to. This is so stupid that it's making me do all this. Has yalls Instagram been doing that? Taking you to your web browser instead of when you try to click a link.
Advertisement Voice
Oh.
Francesca
If you're Outside of it.
Dustin Ross
Yeah, it's so frustrating. Oh my God. And now my phone's update. Anyways, fuck it. So I'm just gonna wing it. Go to easthabrand on Instagram again. These are think about invisalign the trays that you have to wear. These have grill aesthetics so they look like diamond and gold grills. Very dope. And she's actually having a pop up like Fran said in Portland, Oregon on December 13th. So you have time if you're in that local area. I want to spread some pn pnw PNW love. You know what I'm saying? And bring all the cool people out to support that and ease the brand. And thank you to the wonderful listener who brought this to my attention and also the ones who brought it to friend's attention as well.
Francesca
So cute.
Dustin Ross
That's right. Shout out to ease the brand. You got it girl. You got it girl. And that's black owned business for the week. Yeah.
Asante
Wanna see? Get grill.
Francesca
We love it. So last week, let's jump into the recap. Last week's episode titled the Midnight Library. Thank you to a book that Ahsante brought to the table on the lituation our book club author.
Asante
Thank you to Fran for facilitating a beautiful episode that I could never articulate wanting to do something like this.
Francesca
Well, teamwork, teamwork. You brought the book to us and we were to create a phenomenal conversation. I'm actually glad that people gravitated towards it so much. They really enjoyed it. We discussed decisions and circumstances that shifted our trajectory and daydreamed a little bit about alternate lives. And those of you listening wrote in tons of emails. Probably the most emails I've gotten from any episode, which is really nice. Right? And tons of comments. DMs who stood out to you?
Asante
Asante a lot of people in the Spotify streets. Kamari says, I've kept a detailed journal of my life since I was in kindergarten. I think there's a version of me out there that published those journals and became a very successful author and motivational speaker. I would have been the Gen Z. Oprah Shout out to you Kamari. I love when people think about those other versions of themselves and are happy for them whereas other sometimes we get caught up in those moments of like what could have been and were resentful. So I love that a lot of people were sharing those experiences and we're feeling that. I also wanted to shout out where are you? Lisa Love 2 Lisa Love 2 says I felt the sante on the cello thing I played in elementary and high school, but had to give it up after graduation because my parents divorced and we couldn't afford it. I wonder who that woman would be if she had the resources to keep going. But I'm glad to know who I am now. Also, I don't think you'd be pretentious because that's exclusively for the violin players.
Dustin Ross
That was really funny because there was always orchestral shade.
Asante
Yeah, that's why that was so funny. So shout out to you, Lisa. Love, too. Last person I want to shout out. We had a conversation talking about cursive. Mystiquehq says, I'm the youngest of three and I learned cursive early. I remember in second grade for a spelling test, I wrote my whole test in cursive. Shout out to you, Mystique. Just for that. Just as a cute little aside, she failed me that test. I spelled everything right, but left a note telling me that my cursive was good and legible and not a part of the curriculum. Had me send my test home for my parents to sign. That pissed my mom off. And she told this woman to stop with this BS and give me the correct grade that I deserve.
Dustin Ross
That's right.
Asante
But you know what's crazy? I unfortunately feel like something like that would happen today. You're either gonna get a teacher that's gonna appreciate cursing and be like, damn, I ain't seen this in a minute. Go ahead, girl. Or they're gonna be a hater. And if you're one of those teachers and you might be, tone that line. Don't be a hater.
Dustin Ross
Right.
Asante
This child.
Dustin Ross
Fuck you.
Asante
This child was in the second grade and wrote a whole spelling test in cursive. So what? It wasn't part of the curriculum. If she spelled it all right, there is no reason to be like, oh, you failed.
Francesca
I would have been like, put it in cursive.
Dustin Ross
What can you spell?
Asante
That's crazy.
Dustin Ross
Okay. That's horrible, man. You should have celebrated that. Like, wow, you spelled the words right and you were smart enough to think to do it differently in second grade.
Asante
We are proud of you.
Francesca
What is that? Seven year. A seven year old, like, wow, we.
Asante
Are proud of it. Last person I want to shout out, because we talked about GPS a little bit. Jalen says I use my internal gps, but in la, I use GPS to see if I'm going to. If it's going to take me 30 minutes to drive five miles or 10 minutes. That's fair. Using GPS to map out your route or see what your options are is a little bit different than just following that just straight on and you can see clearly that was in front of you is going to take you 10 minutes even though the GPS says it's only going to take two. That's why I'm like are we just not going to wake up and be a human today? We're just going to let the robots run our lives? Damn, that's fucked up. That's when I have my qualms but shout out to you Jalen, that's a fair point. What did you find out there in those streets friend?
Francesca
So like I said, we got a lot of emails. Aaliyah said, hey friend zone. I've been active duty army for 13 years and I'm a single. Thank you for your service and I'm a single mom of a 12 year old and 10 year old twins.
Dustin Ross
Wow.
Francesca
Growing up, right? Growing up I stayed in the same house all the way until I left for the military at 19. I got to have family reunions, spend weekends at my auntie's house and go over to friends homes because my mom knew their parents or we went to school with them. My kids however, don't get that in the military. We move every three years and now that they're older it's hitting them differently. Our most recent move this past summer really upset them. They're at that age where you start building real meaningful friendships and because of my job I'm uprooting them right as those connections are forming. Also, when they do make new friends, I have to vet out the friends and make sure the parents are sane. Yes, they've learned to be resilient, but sitting with it now, it makes me sad for them. I wonder how this will show up them as adults. Well, they look back and think if mom had just settled down and gotten a job with more stability, maybe things in our lives would be different. I don't know. But listening to this episode helped me acknowledge something I hadn't let myself think about before.
Dustin Ross
Wow.
Francesca
And I love that it's a parent considering how their decision making is shifting the trajectory of their kids lives.
Dustin Ross
You know you was wrong Will. Some parents do understand, you know what I'm saying?
Francesca
I love that type of introspection. We also had Christy in the gated community who said in another life I would have been an ob gyn. I've always been interested in childbirth and I was always smart in school. Unfortunately I also suffer with imposter syndrome and didn't think I was smart enough to do it anything. After A bachelor's degree I was afraid I couldn't accomplish. And seeing the lack of representation in black maternal health, I wish I had the opportunity to make black women feel safe and seen. But in another life, I know I am. Christy, you can still do that. OB GYNs don't have an age limit, Right? You can go to school.
Asante
I feel like y' all trust them if they older women, right?
Francesca
No, I mean, it's an energy thing for me. I'm not really looking at the age or anything. I'm just like, how do you treat me when I walk in? What's your bedside manner? So I don't. I think that would be something. Maybe people, when they're older, feel like the amount of school, like, the amount of years you have to do in school, maybe that's the part that can be intimidating. But, Christy, I think you should do it still. Yeah.
Dustin Ross
As long as there's no cognitive issues.
Francesca
You know what I think you should be?
Dustin Ross
You gotta remember what hole you looking at. You know what I'm saying?
Francesca
She ain't even old. I'm looking at.
Dustin Ross
Remember the map? You know what I'm saying? Like, oh, she a young woman and a girl. Go get it.
Francesca
That's it. You better go get something.
Dustin Ross
Go get your blessing.
Francesca
Okay. Amber Marie, also in the gated community, said, I hop timelines a lot. I love the shit.
Asante
Go ahead, Amber.
Francesca
And have my whole life. I'm jumping a timeline now, actually. I'm 37 and made the decision to quit my job that I was at for eight years at a record label where I was an executive, just. Just so I can explore and experience what it feels like to explore what I want and not work out of obligation to capitalism.
Asante
Wow.
Dustin Ross
What a life. That's goals, right?
Francesca
That's real goals. I really love that. Let me see. I'm gonna read one more. Barbara Walters, in our gated community, said, I'm off often thinking about what? My life.
Dustin Ross
You gotta read it like you passed away. You gotta read it like a ghost. Oh, my God. That is what you said.
Francesca
This is a person, they said. I'm often thinking about what my life could look like if it took another path. If I went away to college like I wanted, or if I wasn't kicked out at 19, would I still end up living in North Carolina? Would I still live at home in New York? I'm grateful for the life I've built, but I still wonder about the alternative. And a lot of you were bringing that up, right? Whether you should have gone to college. Or maybe those of you who didn't wondered what life would have been like if you did.
Dustin Ross
People relocated.
Francesca
I mean, that's a big one.
Dustin Ross
Yeah, I got them too. Like, I hate my spouse. I wonder what life. How happy I would have been they.
Francesca
Would send that to you.
Dustin Ross
I don't know how happy I would.
Francesca
Have been going to nursing school. What about you, Justin? You finding those two?
Dustin Ross
Okay. Okay. So this one, he said, okay, you know, you gotta keep the momentum going. Tempo, you know, saying sometimes that's your obligation in the exchange. You got to keep the tempo going. So you got to do things like that. Okay? You feel me? You got to do that sometimes. But anyway, to protect the innocent, I'm gonna. I'm gonna withhold these Twitter handles, right?
Francesca
I'm scared.
Dustin Ross
But somebody tweeted, what's yalls craziest DL stories? Oh, my God. I wanna know. Okay, that's the original tweet. And somebody else responded with this. They said I was hooking. Hold on. They said a DL guy I used to mess around with when I was a teenager was in the process of robbing me at a gas station. Okay. When we were adults. Okay, so I'll start over. A deal. Guy that I used to mess around with when I was a teenager was in the process of robbing me at a gas station when we were adults. Until he realized that I was his old pale from back in the day. He pulled his ski mask off and hugged me from behind, saying he missed me. A Detroit love story.
Asante
That's what the person responded.
Francesca
No way.
Dustin Ross
I swear to God.
Francesca
That's what the person took Asante's off the screen.
Dustin Ross
I swear to God.
Francesca
What? Ain't no way.
Asante
My God. What.
Francesca
He'S like, you ain't gonna give me a kiss?
Dustin Ross
Oh, it's you. Damn. What's up? Why you ain't tell me that was you like one of them situations? I mean, fail. Yeah, out. I fell out. I thought that would make y' all laugh.
Francesca
I know that. I know that role playing later went crazy.
Dustin Ross
I know he was crazy. If anything at all happened later because the way out you would have heard my type of burning rubber up out of that gas station, never to be seen or heard from again. By that that was just about to kill me. Until he realized me for secret. Hell no.
Asante
I.
Dustin Ross
We ain't got shit to talk about. We are key word. The two key words in that sense was when we was teenagers and while we were adults. As an adult, I know that that ain't nobody I need to Be around. See ya. And thanks for the memories. Okay.
Francesca
Oh, my God. That is crazy.
Asante
You know what I'm saying? Hell, yeah.
Dustin Ross
Like, remember when quiet, short ex husband pulled off in that Mini Cooper on American medicine? Burnt rubber. They was arguing. Remember they was arguing? I'm taking care of you since the.
Francesca
Day I met you.
Dustin Ross
And then he went outside in that Mini Cooper and sped on, made that zip noise. Oh, that's it this week.
Asante
Oh, my God.
Francesca
And that means that that is it for our int. How do you jump into the episode? Let's jump into this week's episode.

So this week's episode is a Dustin Ross production and you gave us a little. You gave us a little taste last week and let us know where we was getting ourselves into some Internet drama, apparently.
Dustin Ross
Let's get to it. You know, so people that know me, first of all, thank you so much for the beautiful introduction.
Francesca
Of course.
Dustin Ross
King giving honor to God. Thank you to the Friend Zone for the floor and the platform for the home. Thank you very much. I am very happy to be here with you all this morning. In service. Now, everybody that knows me knows that I love YouTube, right? I'm an avid YouTube watcher. I subscribe to a lot of people's channels. I keep up with a lot of people. It's important to me. It's a part of me. You know what I'm saying? I love watching YouTube. Love it. And so a lot of content creators on YouTube are doing the Lord's work and keeping those of us that are not active on other social media platforms like Bigo and Snapchat and TikTok. Yeah, baby. The Bego drama. That's. We gonna have to do a whole three episode ar of shows to come to Bego drama.
Asante
Never end up there.
Dustin Ross
I would hope that that's a. That's some different that that friend. If you. That's not for the sensitive. That's not for the weak.
Francesca
That's not for the creators of Bego. Like, what is that world? I don't know anyone on Bego.
Dustin Ross
Like, there's a reason. There's a reason. There's a reason.
Francesca
I figured.
Dustin Ross
Yeah, there's a reason. Anyway. There's literally an app for that. But. But they do. There's a lot of content creators on YouTube who keep us abreast of the things that are interesting and going on on other apps. Well, apparently there was a lot of drama. First of all, I didn't realize that TikTok has, like, that's where all the drama is. Y' all know that, right? Yeah, creators, beef. And I thought YouTube and what's called the beef sector on YouTube, which. That's a whole nother story that. Yeah, we'll get there another day. But I thought the beef sector on YouTube was something. But tick tock takes the cake. There are people over there, and it's all. It's not battles between, like, creators more so as it is the drama in the personal lives of the creators on TikTok that takes center stage. And recently this has even reached over into our legal system. Okay. In the case of business, because that's what we about to talk about today. You have to talk about a lady named Brene and all of her business.
Francesca
I can't believe this.
Dustin Ross
There was recently a landmark ruling in North Carolina in court where she was sued Brene Kenner. Okay. Brene is a content creator over on TikTok and Snapchat. She was sued, y', all, by a woman named Akira, because Brene and Akira's husband Tim was going together. And in the state of North Carolina, if you are a person whose spouse cheats on you and you experience certain things because of it, you can sue for what's called alienation of affection, and you can get money. And spoiler alert, spoiler alert. Akira got paid to the tune of $1.75 million. Okay.
Asante
Okay.
Francesca
They need to make this. They need to make this available.
Dustin Ross
So let's get into the case, y'.
Asante
All.
Dustin Ross
This is Brene Kenner. This is her story. This is her business. All this is alleged, except for the findings and rulings of the court that I'll be referencing. So everything else, you. If you got a problem with it. But the facts of the case are the things that the court has determined and the ruling of the court in North Carolina. So let's tap all the way in. First of all, are either one of you familiar with this? Any parts of this story at all?
Francesca
Have you heard it was hard to not be even without me looking for it? I think if you're on TikTok and you engage with black content creators, this person is gonna pop up. Because I never watched an actual video of hers. I've never seen her profile. I don't even know what her content is about. But I would see the people recapping the case and what's happening, and for some reason, they would come up on my FIP a lot. And I remember thinking, this is a really popular girl because everyone was so invested.
Dustin Ross
Yes.
Francesca
I mean, she had multiple creators invested on giving updates, like regular updates, where people can kind of keep up with the love affair, the cage. So I know the people involved, and I know some of the case just off the strength of the recaps, which is crazy because I don't even know who Brene is.
Dustin Ross
What about you, Tay?
Asante
It didn't populate in my algorithm whatsoever, and I actually don't want to talk about what did because there was something going on with another content creator. I guess they had resurfaced, but they were known under another name. And. And it was just the messaging was really bad. So I actually don't even want to share that. But, yeah, to answer your question, no, I did not see anything about this story on TikTok.
Dustin Ross
Well, don't even trip. I got you.
Asante
Thank you.
Dustin Ross
So let's get into the background of the story, you guys. Right? We're going to take this thing from who the people are that were involved, what happened, how they got to court, and then what happened in the court. You know, we're going to see this all the way from the beginning to the end. Right? So this story starts with Bernay and Devon. Right. Who are married. Right. Devin. Excuse me, Renee and Devin. They're married. They have no kids. And they were best friends with a couple named Tim and Akira, who are also married. Right. Tim and Akira have two children of their own. And then Devin and Tim are cousins. Okay, so it's two guy cousins and their wives who are, like, friends. There are two couples that are friends. Right. They all actually went to high school together, so there's, like, a lot of history here. And these people ended up, you know, like I said, being married and friends as couples later on. So the main character in the story is Brene Kenard. Right. She is a hugely popular Tick Tocker. She has over, like, 3 million-plus followers on tick Tock. And she's famous. Yeah, super famous for having really big titties and long nails. Seriously, like, that's what she known for. Like, her long, long nails. Her nails content. Get ready with me doing makeup and doing glam Doing her hair. And she has huge jug. I mean, huge knockers. Knockers, right. I'm talking about fun bags, you know, like big jugs.
Francesca
Yep.
Dustin Ross
Jug Jesus jugs for the Jesus juice. Because when you see them, you say, holy cow, those are big breasts. So. So. But Bernay and her titties getting money, you hear me? Getting paid off the Internet.
Asante
Go ahead.
Dustin Ross
Hugely famous on all the platforms. Huge following of people that really with her, really believe in her, support her, you know what I mean? So she's sister's doing her thing in the digital space.
Asante
Go ahead.
Dustin Ross
There's a little bit of scandal, though, because like I told you, she was known for her humongous breasts. Right. And she actually raised money at one point via GoFundMe to get a breast reduction from Dr. Miami, which. Okay. You know, of course, you know, people. Women get breast reductions for health reasons. It's a positive thing, you know. Yeah, but it never happened. She raised all the money and it never happened. She said that when she got there to go to the appointment, wasn't nobody at the office. That's what she said. And yeah, that's the end of it. She said she told y' all what happened. Yeah, she told y' all it would happen. Y' all can believe her or not, whatever. So that was the first thing that kind of put a bad taste in her people's mouth about her. Made her think, I don't trust her with their bosom, I don't trust her. You know, that was the first thing that made people go there. But so that's who she was. Her and Devin would post content. She, like I said, she's the main character. But her and her man will post couples content. He would be, you know, all in the background dancing in the videos. Remember when Suge Knight said that about Puffy at the awards? Anyway, but he would be. He'd be all in the background of her videos and shit. And a lot of times when they would post, like, their outings or what they would be doing in their normal life, Akira and Tim would be in the videos as well. Because, remember, Tim and Devin were cousins and Akira and Brene were homegirls. They all hung out together. So the audience of Brene's supporters, her huge audience, they were familiar with, like, Akira and Tim and their faces, their children, you know, and them being all in the videos together. They would hear Akira and Tim's kids calling Brene auntie, you know, and shit like that.
Francesca
Yikes.
Dustin Ross
Yeah, it's like a whole thing, right? And also Brene has a twin sister named Corrine. So she's a twin. Brene also has a twin. I've never seen her. She's more low key with it. But Brene leads with hers, you know what I'm saying? So that was the difference. But she has a twin sister named Korean. Now put a pin in Korean because we're gonna. She's gonna come back into this story in a major way.
Francesca
Corinne is right.
Dustin Ross
Pen and Korean. That's the name. That's it. Thank you, friend. You've named the episode. Like, like Morgan Freeman said that Lean on Me when he played Joe Clark and he went to assumingly check the school music teacher for teaching them boys how to sing that black ass version of Fair east side. And he told her, take a bow, Mrs. Power. You've rewritten our school alma mater. Take a bow, Mrs. Friend. You've named our episode.
Francesca
Wait, how does she spell Corinne? Real quick?
Dustin Ross
K A, R, R I N. Okay, just checking.
Francesca
Got it.
Dustin Ross
So now within Brene and Devin's marriage, right, they had started to have like some problems or whatever. And it got to the point where Brene felt like she was ready to leave the marriage. Okay. She wanted to separate. Basically, Brene reached out to Akira and Tim because they were the closest people to them or whatever, and she said, hey, basically I don't have nowhere to go because Brene's relationship with her twin sister was fucked up. She has another sister that she has spoken disparagingly of on the Internet. And her mom and them really didn't fuck with her like that, you know what I'm saying? So she went to Akira and Tim. She got over there and Akira apprehensively agreed to let Brene come stay with them. A' keria felt like, I don't wanna be on y' all shit, like, you know what I'm saying? We got your back. But I don't, I don't know if I feel comfortable with you coming over here because then, you know, she just didn't want to be involved in their marital problems, which is understandable. Right?
Asante
Right.
Dustin Ross
But even though she was apprehensive about it, her husband Tim was like, no, this is Brene. Like, we need to let her come in here, you know what I'm saying, and make sure she has somewhere safe to be, whatever. So they agreed to let her come stay over there for a second. You know why they going through their. So immediately, like, immediately. Right. Akira said that Renee was making her uncomfortable when she got over their house to stay with Them. She said Brene was doing, like, not wearing. Wearing T shirts with no bra. You know what I'm saying?
Asante
I was gonna ask. So this is Brene with the big titties staying at this friend's house. Brene with a big following already.
Francesca
Yeah.
Asante
So she couldn't or didn't want to go to, like, a hotel or something.
Dustin Ross
I don't know.
Asante
Oh, sorry. I'm just.
Dustin Ross
She went to where she is.
Francesca
There's an agenda.
Asante
Okay. I'm just. I'm just trying to figure out how we got here. I just wanted to.
Dustin Ross
Brawler. Titties. Her nipples was at the bend of her. Yeah.
Asante
Living room.
Dustin Ross
It was at the bend of that elbow right here, basically when she walking around. And. And she said that she was wearing Daisy Dukes short shorts. Yeah, she said. Yeah, that's what she said. She had on walking around. And she said. And she was doing that in front of Tim in the house. And then Akira said not only was she doing that, which was disrespectful and made her feel uncomfortable, but she said Akira was nasty in the house too. Said Bernay was nasty in the house too. She said it's been made mention of chip bags, soda cans, and pizza boxes being left, you know, strewn.
Francesca
House.
Dustin Ross
Yeah. Strewn all about the house. Just strewn. Strewn all over the screen about. Yep.
Francesca
The visual.
Dustin Ross
That's what she said. Yeah. And so, girl, all of this is going on, right? She's walking around the house. Inappropriate. Got the nerve to be nasty and junky and dirty. Right. And Akira was keeping all these feelings to herself because just like Brene, you know, they confided in each other. They were like best friends couples in a couple's way, though, you know what I'm saying? They was all best friends. So they would talk to each other and. And Akira said she really didn't have no. You know, she couldn't tell anybody, not even really Tim, you know what I'm saying? Nothing about what was going on with how she felt or whatever. And so she said what she did instead. Akira was. She started coping through, like, getting piercings, getting face piercings, getting her ears pierced. She said she just went through this thing where she felt like that was her release or her outlet. So she got like a nose piercing, you know, a. A dermal, you know what I'm saying? Multiple piercings, whatever.
Francesca
Everyone has their thing.
Dustin Ross
They do. But if you think about it, though, when people start with, like, their face and stuff like that, you. That typically don't or have not, what do you start doing? You Start asking questions, you be like, what if they. You know what I'm saying?
Francesca
Like, you good? Yeah.
Dustin Ross
Me and their face all tatted up and earrings and shit. You know what I'm saying? And I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I'm actually attracted to that. I think, like, I could tell y' all some stories of all, like, you know, times and places, but I'm actually attracted to, like, face tats and all that anyway. But if someone typically has not been into that and they start doing that, you wonder like, okay, what's going on? There's some kind of shift here. Here, Right. And so, of course, with these piercings or whatever, people started taking note and asking what was going on with Akira. She said that typically she would. Her. She was a creature of habit, like, of routine. And so she would go to work, she would take care of her kids, go to work, come home, make sure her kids were straight, go to bed early. She said everybody knew she went to sleep early with Akira. With Brene coming to stay in their house. She said she would just wake up sometimes, you know, about 12, 1 o' clock in the morning, she would go outside, Brene and Tim out there talking, you know what I'm saying? She said it was a couple times where she saw them and the door was closed to the room. Like, she would open the door and find them in a room type shit. Yeah. Just talking, but, like in a room with the door closed. What the fuck?
Francesca
No, no.
Dustin Ross
So all this. Yeah, all this is going on. So finally she's like, yo. She tells her husband, I don't want her here no more. You know what I'm saying? I just. I don't feel comfortable. She doesn't really go into detail. Just, I don't feel comfortable. I want her here no more. 10 protests. Oh, she ain't got nowhere to be. She ain't got nowhere to go. You know what I'm saying? We can't just do her like that type shit, you know what I mean? She's a grown woman, tries to prolong the same grown, full titty grown woman. Now, at this point, like I said, Akira had gotten the face piercings and all the other stuff. Her family started asking questions because Akira, unlike Brene, Akira got down with her family, you know what I'm saying?
Francesca
Right.
Dustin Ross
So they see her getting all these face piercings and stuff. They start tapping in and asking questions or whatever. Akira ends up telling her mom and her grandmother about what's going on with Bernee, you know, hey, she's going through these marital problems. She's coming in our house, saying, here. Now she's walking around scantily clad, okay? I'm catching her in these private kabudwa conversations with my husband, you know what I'm saying? And the hoe is nasty, you know what I'm saying? She got all over the house. I got. I'm using Raid, you know what I'm saying? Combat, combine combat, roach traps. Because she got all over this house. And what is the. All over the house? Strewn about, you know what I'm saying?
Francesca
She never confronted them.
Dustin Ross
Well, she confronted him and told her.
Francesca
Because you're not gonna have a door closed in my house and think, I'm not walking in and asking, what's going on?
Dustin Ross
What's the name of the song by Lil Boosie? And what's the name of the movie with Queen Latifah, Vivica Fox. The lady set it off.
Francesca
You hear me? I'm almost amazed at her. What would you call that?
Asante
Stupid.
Francesca
What would you call it? I was going to say restraint, but.
Dustin Ross
Cause what the. You. You ever seen the beginning of the Fresh Prince? You see, you. What? What? Jazz. What happened to jazz at the beginning of the Fresh Prince? Go right. Flying titties and all.
Francesca
You hear me? That's crazy.
Dustin Ross
Tits first, flying. Okay, anyway, but so again, Akira has had it. She's literally had it up to here and here, apparently, with piercings. And so she's talking and she goes and she talks to her mother and her grandmother about it, right? She tells them what's going on. They. They get up, get their purses, keys, and jackets, put their shoes on, okay? Someone has her mom and her grandma, and it was like, come on. Yeah, they go over. This is happening, y'. All. They go over. This ain't just. She goes over there and they tell her, well, you should think about doing this. No, in the moment, she goes over there, talks to them. They get up, get their things and go over to the house. They're like, we finna put her ass about your house.
Asante
Yeah.
Francesca
Which is embarrassing. That your mom and grandma gotta come to do some shit that she's doing.
Asante
These are the stories that need to be told, right? Like, women supporting each other, but like, the elders doing the right thing and just being like, we need to go ahead and make this move now. Not just being in your face like, well, what are you gonna do? But, like, we're literally gonna help you and we gonna do this right now. Come on.
Dustin Ross
That recipe.
Francesca
But I will say this Though the fact that they're concerned about getting her out as opposed to getting them both out, that feels also very like, churchy, man, centered. Like, we gonna fix ya. You know what I mean? Like, I don't like that.
Asante
Marriage.
Francesca
Yeah, like, we gonna get this Jezebel.
Asante
Out your house, right?
Francesca
She's the Jezebel spirit that's ruining your marriage. There's something about that. I don't really fuck with the Delilah spirit because we should be mad at him. He's the only one for real. For real with the obligation in this house.
Asante
I mean, he is. I mean, yes, Frank, you're correct. I just also feel like if I allow you into my house and you got your titties out and you got doors closed, I don't talk to his ass about it. And also, why are you still in my house? You know what? I am gonna put your ass out. Oh, my mama and my grandmama help me bet. Like, Like, I also y' all both.
Francesca
Getting out of my house personally.
Asante
I mean, she's still one them of.
Dustin Ross
The minute that I heard the noise of the skin of your titty slapping against your stomach underneath that night shirt when you walk through my. As you sauntering through my motherfucking house. The minute I heard that noise. Hey, Brene, you can't be walking around my house with no clothes on. That makes me uncomfortable. And my husband is here, so if you're going to be over here, you're going to have to cover that up up and put a bra on. That's the kind of stuff you have to lean into the very first time it happens, honestly. And you have to be very specific when you do it to clear up anything, because y' all could have got past that, you know?
Francesca
But honestly, no, I'mma keep it real with you. A woman that don't already know to.
Dustin Ross
Do that if you have to tell her is what she said.
Francesca
Tell someone to do that. You. That's already a problem. Yeah, that's a problem. I would never walk around with no bra and booty shorts and a T shirt and my best friend's house. Like, I can't. What? That's not even something that I'll wear. The biggest I wear a snuggie for.
Dustin Ross
Like, you think I'm about to be gray sweatpants up with no shirt and some brand new white Nike socks in front of asante boyfriend. You know what I'm saying? Like, that ain't like that's inappropriate. You know what I'm saying? That's completely.
Asante
The weird thing is, right, because people have such weird boundaries about bodies like their own and other people's. You just don't know where certain people land either. That's why like, even though you should not have to tell a person to do that, I still would not mind being like up front, like, hey, just a few ground rules before you stay here. And if you don't want to hear this, you can also not stay here because I really don't want you to because you know my man here. Like, like, not that I would even allow. I just don't even see. Sorry. Just continue your story. I just don't like that any of this has happened to.
Francesca
I don't have friends that would do that. So I don't, I just don't even have to worry about ever having to have these types of conversations. That's the reality.
Dustin Ross
It could turn into a question for if you don't put a goddamn br. You can get it across that way too. But anyway.

So like I said, this happens, she gonna tell her mom and her grandmama. They get their things, they ride out clothes, jackets, keys, cigarettes. You know what I'm saying?
Francesca
They out the Shiesty the night.
Dustin Ross
Hell yeah. They got pooh. Shiesties come on over. Over washing sick curls. Yeah. So, okay, so they go over to the house, right? It gets. It start going down at the house. Of course, when they come in there on that type of time, you know what I'm saying? And Brene is already the type of woman that was walking around the house like that in the first place. You know, she wasn't going down without, like, something to say. So they get to argue and Brene and the grandmama get to going for it. She pushes. Pushes Akira's grandmother.
Francesca
No, Dustin. What do you mean pushes?
Dustin Ross
Pushes Akira's grand go. Pushed her like she was. Almost like she was giving her cpi. No, that was. That was. That was a. That was a pummeling that Jackie did. That was pummeling. She pummeled her daughter or her daughter pushed her first.
Asante
How many?
Dustin Ross
Yeah, she did.
Asante
How many?
Dustin Ross
Jackie finished that. I ain't never seen nobody swing with such a.
Francesca
It was like. AI.
Dustin Ross
It was few. It was ferocious, right? It was.
Francesca
It was like.
Dustin Ross
It was vicious.
Francesca
Oh.
Dustin Ross
I mean, how long had Bernays been.
Asante
Staying in the house at this point?
Dustin Ross
I'm not sure on the timeline, but this took place over the span of a few months.
Asante
Okay, so she spent some time in his house overall, but go ahead.
Francesca
So this is scary, y'. All. So it's like an entity.
Dustin Ross
So she pushes her grandmother, right? And that. That happens or whatever. And she says that she's not going nowhere because Tim wants her here. She don't care how they feel. Tim says she can stay there. And he said yes, I have to leave, so I'm not going nowhere.
Asante
Right?
Dustin Ross
Okay.
Asante
So. Right. They both gotta go.
Dustin Ross
Well, guess what? You ready for this? You ready for.
Francesca
Don't tell me.
Dustin Ross
Script flip? Guess what happens.
Asante
Tim proposed to her.
Dustin Ross
You see, Tim used to be a football player, but he was out of work, right? So his income wasn't really, you know, where it needed to be or whatever. So guess whose name they house was in A Tira's grandmother.
Francesca
Oh, God. Thank God. I thought you were gonna say Tim's.
Dustin Ross
So she. This ain't the place that she cannot stay. I ain't say Tim's.
Francesca
Get out.
Dustin Ross
Get out her house. Hey, that's Tim that you cannot write.
Francesca
Y' all going through all this for a man that's not even contributing to my bills.
Dustin Ross
So. Oh, my God. So Brene has to leave, right? So she leaves, and after she's gone, Tim and Akira, you know, they go back to Cohabitating. But they are problem ridden at this point because they can't recover from the whole Bernay situation. Him want her to stay, all that other shit, right? They're full of problem having problems. Well, fast forward to tax season, right? Tax time comes around.
Francesca
Oh, God. What?
Dustin Ross
Akira running things around the house, you know what I'm saying? She's got some documents that she needs to upload in order to do her filing. So she goes on a computer, she had just bought Devin a computer. She goes on the computer trying to upload the documents and she finds a bunch of video files.
Francesca
Wait, you said Akira found this Akira.
Dustin Ross
On the computer that Devin, you know, that, that not Devin, that Tim. That she had bought for Tim. I'm sorry, excuse me, Tim. Because I'm getting them all they mixing up, so I'm getting them all mixed up.
Francesca
Oh my God.
Dustin Ross
So Akira goes to Tim's computer to upload these tax documents, right? And she finds all these video files, right? Videos of Renee shaking her ass all in Akira and Tim's house in the living room and twerking and shit. You know, sick videos of Akira, her grandmama, I mean, videos of Renee. Right. Okay, big mama, look. Big mama's house.
Francesca
That made us so much.
Asante
Oh, Grandmama's house. That's crazy.
Francesca
I just got chills. I really do have chills. Some people are so evil.
Dustin Ross
There's videos of her telling, this is Brene, right? Sending videos to Tim, saying, oh, I just miss you so much. I love you so much. I can't wait. I'm so sorry you're going through problems with your wife. I can't wait for you to leave her. I'm gonna make you so happy.
Francesca
I would have been on snap.
Dustin Ross
I'm gonna make you so happy. I'm gonna do everything I can to take care of you and give you the world. Because, you know, her bread was up by this point, you know, from the online shit.
Francesca
Yeah.
Dustin Ross
Because she definitely went and got a place, you know, all that other stuff. So, you know, so Akira finds all these videos, so she's shocked when she finds the videos because it confirms all the suspicions that she had all along. She sends. If she goes into a shock, she really can't talk. But she sends the videos to Tim, right? Like she sends them to him. Like, you know, obviously, like I see all of this.
Asante
Yeah.
Dustin Ross
So he starts blowing her up. She can't. She's really not even able to like talk. And she's not ready to talk to him specifically. So she doesn't answer the Phone. A little bit of time goes by, they end up talking. And of course, what's Tim's disposition when they speak? What are you doing going through my shit?
Asante
Oh, guilty.
Dustin Ross
That computer is mine and I have a problem. Fuck. What you found. I have a problem with you sneaking and going through my stuff. I don't feel like I can trust you. I don't feel safe around you.
Francesca
I don't feel safe around you. The audacity.
Dustin Ross
All of this happens, right? Oh, and another video I forgot to mention, which might answer the question of why Akira was saying through all this, there were videos of Brene saying how thick and wide. Yeah. How thick and wide and big Tim's dick was. How much she missed his penis and loved his penis.
Francesca
Justin, please.
Dustin Ross
So, yeah, that's what she was saying. She was. What did it used to call it? Waxing poetic. She was waxing poetic about his penis. And so I'm telling you. So she. That's what she was saying about him.
Francesca
Now, here's the question I have, and I don't know if you'll be able to answer because I know we're not like, Brene's audience, but I'm sure we have listeners who are. Was Brene, like, why y' all were watching her during this time? Were people seeing through this? You know what I mean? Like, were they, like, learning on TikTok? Okay, I'm just like, what? She's playing into this, like, scandal.
Dustin Ross
All of the information that. All the information that I'm sharing with you now was happening, quote, unquote, behind the scenes.
Francesca
Okay? So no one in her audience is.
Dustin Ross
Aware at this point. The only thing that they would have seen is less videos of Brene and her husband, Devin. Yeah, they may not have seen Devin popping up in and out her videos. And they definitely had been seeing Akira and Tim, but obviously at this point, they would no longer see them popping up in her videos either. But there had been no announcement made by Brene or no way to, like, no cluing in of the audience as to the personal things that were going on at this point.
Francesca
Okay, y', all.
Dustin Ross
So he does that. Whatever. And at this point, Brene, because of the scandal that was going on of her staying over there and shit, Brene and Devin separate. And at this point, Akira and Tim separate, too. So at this. At this very same point, both couples separate. Right? The Internet has none, no idea that any of this is going on.
Francesca
Oh, shoot.
Dustin Ross
Brene. After these couples separate, Brene goes on to her TikTok page and makes a Video telling her supporters that her and Devin are divorced. They weren't. They were just separated, right? And of course, her and her supporters that were unaware of all the things that were going on, of course they rallied behind her. You know what? I'm. Oh, we love you. You're gonna get through this. All that other. So Brene continues making her content and making videos, and they begin to include her. And Devin is back in some of the videos, but at the same time, Tim is there too now, right? Because remember, Devin and Tim are cousins. So even though all this was going on with these women or whatever, right? And they were so cool that when Brene moved into her own place, both Devin and Tim helped move, okay? They kept her moving. They actually filmed some tick tocks and content together at a restaurant together the same day, the three of them, right? And after she moved into her new.
Francesca
Place, like that girl.
Dustin Ross
What?
Asante
For real? Because this is insane.
Dustin Ross
That's why I told y' all we had to talk about this.
Francesca
No, this is bad.
Dustin Ross
There's so much more, too. So after this, Brene moves into her own place.
Francesca
Place.
Dustin Ross
And people start seeing Tim, Akira's husband, who's estranged. They start seeing him in the background of some of Renee's videos and. Right. Which of course, starts to, you know, raise red flags or cause people to ask questions or whatever. Why is Tim there? Where is Devin? You know what I'm saying? What's going on? The Internet starts Interneting and sleuthing, and it comes out that Brene and Tim, okay, used to go together in high school. Cause remember I told you they all went to school together?
Asante
Oh, my God.
Dustin Ross
Okay, Brene and Tim actually dated in high school, and she said that Tim broke her heart back in 2014 when they were in high school. So they were high school, not really sweethearts, but they fucked around in high school. You know what I'm saying? But get this, y'. All. Guess how Tim broke Brene's heart back in high school.
Francesca
Cheated on her.
Dustin Ross
You ready for this? Guess with who?
Asante
Akirah?
Francesca
Her cousin?
Dustin Ross
Her twin sister, Kareem. Remember I told you Kareem coming into the story. Damn. Yes, yes, yes, y'.
Francesca
All.
Dustin Ross
Yes. And so people found. They went back and actually looked up Renee's old Twitter account from 2014, and they confirmed that it was all about Tim back then. You know what I'm saying? So the Internet is tripping after they're finding all this shit. Like, damn, all this time been a saga. Okay? So the Internet starts Interneting. You know what I'm Saying. And they find old videos and peeping, like, the relationship dynamics between Brene and Devin, you know what I'm saying? Just looking for signs of a break or looking for signs of between her and Tim. And they start noticing that in videos, Renee is rolling her eyes when Devin is talking to her and just having a mean disposition. But if Tim ever comes in, she lights up.
Francesca
Up. Oh, right. God, that's awful. Oh, God.
Asante
No bueno.
Dustin Ross
So they start putting two and two together. And so, boom, Berne and Tim come out as a couple officially online. Like, we're together and start content together.
Asante
Separated.
Dustin Ross
Yeah. Not divorce. Supposed to separate it. They start doing skits. They start doing skits. Making content. Doing skits.
Asante
Yeah. How old are these people?
Dustin Ross
Enough. They was in high school in 2014.
Asante
Right. So that's why I'm like, this is not you. Okay.
Dustin Ross
So like I said, both couples are still legally married. Remember, Brene don't really with her family like that. But then people, you know, they still watching her from afar. And so they start seeing these videos with Tim in them and that they're a couple now, you know what I'm saying? Start talking or whatever. And it just starts up all this local, like, drama within, like, where they're from, people have a lot of opinions. It's like just on fire in their community. Right.
Francesca
Of course, this is craziness. Especially if no one was aware, you know, of what was happening in the background. It just looks crazy.
Dustin Ross
And mind you, they're all content creators. It's just that Brene was, like, huge. She was the star, right? But the other ones have their own following as well. So Akira finally breaks her silence and she goes to the Internet and says her piece about the affair, right? That, yes, this affair took place. You know, I hate it that it happened. I'm hurt, you know, I'm devastated. I feel betrayed. Blah, blah, blah. And then she goes a step further and hires an attorney and she sues Brene for alienation of affection. Right?
Francesca
Oh, shit.
Dustin Ross
She does this because she had told Brene stop posting her kids. Cause Brene would have. When her kids would be with their dad, the kids would be running and out the video. And the kids that.
Francesca
See, now, you know, now you calling.
Dustin Ross
Brene's calling the kids her bonus kids. Bonus children, mind you. She had been. They had been calling her auntie before and all that shit. You know what I'm saying?
Francesca
Oh, God, y', all, this is angering. Like, I. I don't even know how one gets through this. No, for real. Like, how do you get through this in one piece?
Asante
I don't want to go through it. I can't. I can't even. Like, it's making me uncomfortable to think about. Like, it's hurting.
Dustin Ross
It's like, make you want to sing Jolene, don't it?
Asante
Anyway, buy some gasoline. God damn it.
Dustin Ross
So, okay. And some sneakers. So, okay, so Akira actually, she sues Brene for alienation of affection. She actually files a restraining order and demands that Brene stops posting their kids. Right?
Francesca
Yeah, yeah.
Dustin Ross
Renee gets pissed about this. She goes to the Internet, y', all, saying that Akira wants to be her and always wanted to be her and that Tim had been cheating on Akira way before her affair with him. So y' all act like it was my fault that they broke up, but it wasn't. He had been doing his thing, we just fell in love type shit. That's what she was saying, right? Oh, okay.
Francesca
That makes it better.
Dustin Ross
The Internet starts and going through all their pictures and stuff and they start showing like, well, actually, Britney, it looks like you want to be Akira. They started noticing that if Akira got a certain hairstyle, Brene would pop out the hairstyle if Akira. And remember, Brene was known for, like, long nails with the charms and hoops and shit all on them and teddy bears hanging off.
Asante
She's Akira swag.
Dustin Ross
Oh, nope. Akira was known for short nails. And when Brene got with. We're not known for short nails, but she always wore her nails short. You know what I'm saying?
Francesca
Yeah.
Dustin Ross
And when Brene got with Tim, her nails disappeared. Her nails disappeared. She started wearing short nails. She. It would be.
Francesca
I mean, like, I don't like that.
Asante
Yeah. Like, he was like, if you. If you started being more like her, maybe we could talk.
Dustin Ross
Kira popped out with a certain hairstyle. The next thing you know, Brene was going online doing get ready with me and styling her hair the same exact way Akira had mentioned that she was gonna get. It was some kind of Kia, like six seater vehicle, minivan, or either small SUV that Akira says she wanted to get. Bernay went and bought that vehicle. It was like next level, like stalkers kind of shit. Right? So the Internet. Yep. The Internet starts Interneting, you know what I'm saying? And like I said, they discover all these similarities or whatever. They start researching Tim and coming up with little bits and pieces about, like, his past, other people he had been involved with. Right. In the height of all of this. And as more of all this information was coming out or whatever during all of this Time Akira gets into a car accident, right?
Francesca
Oh, no, I'm sure the stress of all this. Who the hell would be going through the day regularly? You know what I mean?
Dustin Ross
She gets. I personally, I think she probably thought she saw them and wasn't paying attention to the room.
Francesca
You know what?
Dustin Ross
She probably was riding past us. A restaurant with outdoor seating is that. And then boom, you know. But anyway, she got into a car accident and she was in the hospital because of it. Brene and Tim, who are now a couple, came up to the hospital to get Tim's kids with Akira or whatever. When that happened, some sort of altercation took place and Tim's mother ended up putting Akira in the head. Like, remember, Akira was in the hospital bed. Tim's mother. Tim's mother put Akira in the head. Like, yes, that happened. Okay, what the hell? Just so you know that this is all a mess, right? So all that's going on the Internet is sleuthing. The Internet, sleuthing and interneting. And Tim was having affairs on Akira other than with Brene. And guess who one of the women was that popped out that he had been having an affair with all this time?
Francesca
Corrine, the twin sister.
Dustin Ross
Corrine. Oh, guess.
Francesca
No, Bailey Ray, how do you do this?
Dustin Ross
And guess. Now, mind you, Corrine is married. Got a man. I don't know if she's married, but she's in a long term relationship with the father of her child. Children. Okay. But her youngest child. Oh, looks. Does not look like her other children and looks exactly like Tim, her youngest child. I mean, like when you see the side by side photos, you're gonna be like, what the. The baby looks like Tim. Okay.
Francesca
So anyway, look at Asante Googling.
Asante
No, because I just.
Dustin Ross
When you see it, Asante, you're gonna be like, oh my God, Corinne, Tim, baby. Karen, Brene, Tim baby. Something like that. It should come right up. So while all of this is going on, y', all, the court date comes up because remember, Akira had fired her lawsuit. You know what I'm saying?
Francesca
Now I see why she.
Dustin Ross
The court day comes up, it's all kinds of going on. The first thing that is crazy about the court case is Akira is lawyered up, has her legal counsel, Brene decides to represent herself. Just dumb thinking you know every goddamn thing. What Monique say, since you got your degree, you think you know everything. Thinking you know every goddamn thing.
Francesca
Who is she thinking, though? This ain't one of those arms too.
Dustin Ross
Short to box with God. So Brene's defense during the Trial. Brene said that, you know, she was not the cause of the marital breakdown. That was her main defense. She said that Akira had given her consent to the relationship, saying that there was. That their marriage was already over. Doesn't even make sense. Right. She tried to state that because of private conversations they had had where Akira. Because, remember, they used to vent to each other. You know what I'm saying? So she was trying to say that that in some way was giving her consent to date him. When Tim testified in court. Right. He said that his marriage with Akira was loveless and that they were just like roommates and that they had actually separated in 2021. And he denied that he ever wrote love notes to Akira, even though she claimed that he had been writing her love notes all that time. Right. So there was conflict over what the status of their relationship. Relationship was. Akira and her legal team presented text messages, pictures, just a bunch of evidence to kind of portray that the marriage was loving and to show the ways that Brene had interfered with, you know, and interrupted their marriage or whatever. And they had found messages about a surprise birthday party that Tim was planning for Akira. And so it wasn't.
Francesca
He.
Dustin Ross
He was trying to act like it was completely devoid of any love, but it was not.
Francesca
O shout out to the receipts.
Dustin Ross
Yep. Devin testified, and he said that he overheard Brene and Tim talking about rekindling their high school relationship one time, and he said that he heard them being intimate in his house in early 2024.
Francesca
He heard them.
Dustin Ross
He said he heard them in the house. Yes.
Francesca
And he didn't do anything either. These are interesting couples.
Dustin Ross
And mind you, this is all the. From court. Court. Akira, okay.
Francesca
Akira testified being like, yeah, my man is. What are these people? Okay.
Dustin Ross
So Akira testified that because of the affair, she was humiliated. She said she had mental anguish. And she also said that she had health problems. Now, she said that her kids had behavioral issues and that they had. Because they had lost both parents. So she said, like, everything is just, like, all up or whatever. They also talked about how the grandmother came on the stand and talked about what happened or whatever. Yeah. And so then, of course, what's the million dollar question? How did the trial turn out? Right. Of course. It was a jury trial. The jury sided with Akira, and they ordered Brene to pay one $1.5 million to her for alienation of affection and $250,000 for criminal conversation, totaling her damages to $1.75 million. Brene, whose dumb ass represented herself in court and ended up like this. So you see how this works, right? Don't do this, y'. All. So Brene said that the verdict was outrageous, and she claimed that the lawsuit was all about money. That's a quote. Yeah, that's why it's a lawsuit. What are you talking about? It's exact. That's definitely all about money. Just shows you how dumb she is. And she alleged that Akira's legal team had lied. The. Her quote was that Akira's legal team lied the entire time. That was the quote she had. So these. They talking like, you know what I'm.
Asante
Saying in the court, just not even making those happening.
Dustin Ross
Akira's lawyer, Robinetta Jones, she stated that the evidence. Exactly. Who got in there and did the damn thing.
Francesca
Use payday for her?
Asante
What?
Dustin Ross
Okay, she. She probably did the whole thing with her shoes off. She's probably. She's probably. She's probably in court rubbing her ankles cross. With her ankles crossed. Rubbing her feet together.
Francesca
You can see it. Right? And she had the stocking socks, not the ones that go all the way.
Dustin Ross
Exactly. So her. Her attorney said that the evidence overwhelmingly supported their case and that Akira received the justice she deserved. Tim. So Tim, the cheating ass husband, he criticized the verdict, claiming that the jury fell for a, quote, sympathy complex required. And he said that his marriage was not based on, quote, genuine love. So see how people just don't be talking.
Asante
Let's go ahead and divorce Tim and get some money off of him, too, if he. Oh, well, house one in his name. Probably ain't got much, but, you know, nothing at all.
Dustin Ross
But this is just an example in the landmark ruling, you know what I'm saying, against Renee Canard. I like sue for that North Carolina. That's a North Carolina law. So when people take it serious, big deal. That's why I remember when I hate to even say it.
Francesca
Yeah. Like Tarlesha told us. Yeah.
Asante
So.
Dustin Ross
Oh, that's right. Shout out to you, Tisha. What's up, Talisha? But yeah, y'.
Asante
All.
Dustin Ross
So that's the case of Brene Kenner and her business. Brene's business.
Francesca
And is she just active, like backing up and running like nothing happened? I wonder what's the stage?
Dustin Ross
Honestly, friend, man, I'm scared to check. I have. I haven't even been, like, I ain't even been on.
Francesca
Her and Tim are in the car doing mukbangs. They probably don't even care.
Dustin Ross
They in the car doing something. Should they in the car doing something? Shout out to love after lockup. If anybody watches that and remembers when the Black Mormon lady was going through the car wash with her man.
Francesca
Oh, my God.
Asante
Oh, my God.
Dustin Ross
That's a deep cut for y'.
Asante
All. Anyway, look, that's back when I watched. Shit.
Francesca
It sounds so gross.
Dustin Ross
So that is the curious case of Brene Kenard and her business. Y', all, listen, do not get caught up in this bullshit, okay? Like, like. Like the old folks used to say, keep your drawers up and your zippers down. Are your drawers up and your dresses down?
Francesca
I was gonna say, your drawers up.
Dustin Ross
Drawers up, and your dresses down. You know what I'm saying? Stop fucking everybody. Some things you just don't need to do because it can literally get out of control. And once your ego, your pride gets involved and once you think you got enough money to handle something, because that's what happened. Bernee has. Her money was up from being on Tik Tok and being on the Internet. She felt, I ain't got to hire no ladies. I can just go in and represent myself. I'm. Look at this page. Look. Do my research. And she took her ass in that court on a hardy level to represent herself, myself, and left out $1.75 million poor.
Francesca
Wow. You think she had that to give? Just because you have millions of followers doesn't mean.
Dustin Ross
But she was getting money, though. You know what I'm saying? That's why she had. She had got apartment. It's a lot of stuff I left out for the sake of time. But there was homes leased, trips taken.
Francesca
Okay.
Dustin Ross
So all kinds of stuff. Yeah.
Francesca
Got you. And now she got a. A nephew that is also her bonus son, apparently. That's crazy. Y'. All, this is so messy.
Dustin Ross
It's very messy, but just stay out of it. Y' all gotta just stay out the bullshit. You know what I'm saying? And really sometimes zoom out and look at things for really what they are. Cause you can get caught up in delusion and end up in court like she did. So you gotta really, you know.
Asante
Yeah.
Dustin Ross
Check your. You know what she needed to do? Calm her tits. That's what she needed to do. She needed to calm her tits. Okay? And she didn't. So that's the story of Brene. I hope you all enjoyed it. For those of y' all that have been seen everywhere else, now you're here.
Francesca
Tik Tok phenom. Thank you, Dustin Ross. Let's jump into this week's segment. I am shook.
Asante
Floored.
Dustin Ross

Asante
Floored.
Francesca

Francesca
This week in wellness, I actually wanted to highlight some cookbooks that I have been loving.
Asante
Okay.
Francesca
I told y'. All one of the biggest shifts for me in the past couple years, really, because I feel like it's been a couple years now since we talked about it, was ordering less from the food apps and making sure to cook a lot more just to divide, develop more of your skill set in the kitchen and also for health. Right. You just want to take more accountability for your lifestyle and also have more intention over what you're making, what you're taking. In a lot of these restaurants, we don't even know how it's being prepared. And so I took much more of an interest in the past couple years and a lot of the people I followed were like on TikTok, I feel like TikTok just has a ton of good recipes and home chefs that like, really bless us with information. And I mentioned the moody foodie. Her name is Toni Chapman and she actually just released her first actual cookbook. And I had to support because if you putting out this information for free and blessing us, I feel like once you're actually putting a product out, we should absolutely put money in your pocket and help you sustain.
Dustin Ross
What's the name of it? Her name is Toni Chapman, right?
Francesca
Yes. If you're a one, give me one season.
Asante
Give me one season, Tony.
Francesca
It's called everything's good cozy classics you'll cook always and forever by Toni Chapman. This is her in the back.
Dustin Ross
Hey, Tony.
Asante
Oh, right.
Dustin Ross
She looks like she can cook good.
Asante
Is that.
Dustin Ross
Is that general's chicken?
Francesca
It looks like it does look like that, actually. But then I also said I can.
Dustin Ross
Eyeball it from across the room. Across the country.
Francesca
But let me. She's the one that I. I got her braised short, short rib recipe from. Oh, so phenomenal from her TikTok. But she does. She teaches you everything from, like, Berenice, because she's from the Caribbean. Coquito, pasteles. But then she's also showing you how to make collard greens with smoked turkey. I love it. To me, it's like, yes, I'm at this intersection.
Dustin Ross
I love coquito.
Asante
I miss New York now.
Francesca
I know. Me too.
Asante
My coworker's just selling coquito. I'm like, girl, go ahead and give me a couple bottles.
Francesca
Like, you just.
Dustin Ross
I'mma buy a bottle from you too. And it's gotta be in a Bacardi bottle. You know what I'm saying? Or, you know, it's gotta be, you know, y' all know what else gotta come.
Francesca
Yup. And she teaches you even how to make, like, honey butter Hawaiian rolls from scratch. There's shrimp, there's, like, seafood. There's a lot of dessert. And then what I really love is the takeout classics. She has, like, pork fried rice, General Soul's chicken, which Dustin spotted on the back cover. She also does the halal cart chicken.
Dustin Ross
She does, yes.
Francesca
With the rice bowls, tzatziki. It's like. It's just good. It's New York street classics, where she shows you how to make it yourself, down to, like, the four chicken wings fried from the Asian spots. So I just have really been enjoying her style, her cookbook. Cause it feels like she said it's cozy classic. But I like it because it's a lot of foundational recipes as well. Right. Like when you're just building your kitchen or building your arsenal of recipes, like how to make your beans and your rice and stews and soups, and for people that are cooking, like, potatoes, different ways to prepare them, I'm just really a fan. And I was like, I had to shout her out. I know that's one of the. The goals I have for a break is that I want to just spend a lot of my time cooking. Because right now, we cook for survival. During the week, you know, we really eat. I've mentioned it before. We kind of eat boot camp style, where we just meal prep is very clean, you know, not much deviation. But during the holiday and during break, I definitely want to, like, cook some more stuff, you know, some classics, try out some new recipes. I've never really been a dessert person as far as, like, trying to make desserts. I feel like that's a science. Like, yeah, that's a whole different brain than just following the recipe. But I want to try some, too. That'd be really cool. I'm not really a pie person, but I do love cake, so that'd be fun. Yeah. Try to, like, see if there's some cakes that I could learn to make and be able to whip up.
Asante
And then I want to do that, too. I want to be able to. I want to just get in the kitchen and, like, make some shit. Like, it doesn't even have to be anything I want to eat. Like, I just want to make something really cool. Like, yeah, you know, I made that cake. Or somebody be like, what?
Francesca
Like, yeah, yeah, just something to fly. I just think that's so cool. One of my favorite things is when I talk to Claude because he loves to cook. He cooks, like, every day. And I'm sorry, but I love when men just be in the kitchen just cooking. I just find that so great. I'm like, you are well raised. You hear me? Dustin? And I'll call him, and he'll just be cooking some amazing fish or something with her herbs, like, you know, Jamaican style. And his vegetables and on in his walk, you know, like, such a fan. I love it. Y' all already know Jade be in the kitchen throwing down whenever I talk to Ikea. So I love that. The other. The second one that I wanted to share is this guy, Corderius Green, for those of you watching on Patreon. And this one is big. Look, it got the ring.
Asante
That's a good kitchen cookbook.
Francesca
Yeah. This one's called Kitchen Culture, the New Southern Table. And it's a culinary renaissance of Southern classics. This one actually got off of TikTok, because apparently he's, like, really big on TikTok. He had been coming up on my feed. And I really like his recipes, too, because he's making, like, he has one recipe that's like, jerk oxtail grilled cheese.
Advertisement Voice
Wow.
Francesca
Okay. So he's playing with some different things. Yeah. That had me be like, wait a minute. He has recipes for classics, too, like meatloaf and catfish.
Asante
And now Frank Tails over there. I will get on the plane. I'm gonna just.
Francesca
Now, let me tell you, that's, like, one of my agendas.
Asante
Well, when it comes to be someone.
Francesca
That knows how to make a bomb oxtail. You know, it's funny. I was watching a video on YouTube that aggregated. Cause I do be watching, like, food videos, and this man, I wish I remember his name. God forgive me for not. Maybe I'll link it below to give him credit. But it was an Asian dude on YouTube and he got four different Caribbean islands and they were comparing who makes the best oxtail. So they had Jamaica. They had. I believe it was Trinidad. They had Cuba and maybe Puerto Rico. Rico. Was it Puerto Rico who won? They threw in a Puerto Rican girl in there. I feel like they did. And in my opinion, the Jamaican one, it was kind of a no brainer. And that's how I feel about Jamaican oxtail. I love Dominican oxtail. Like, I can eat it. It's very savory. I love how it's prepared with. But there's. To me, nothing compares to Jamaican oxtail. Just what it is and the way he cooked it. No, I'm absolutely gonna find the video because y' all need to see how he prepared it. And he walked you through the steps where you could recreate it if you.
Asante
Yeah.
Francesca
Want to try.
Dustin Ross
Because it is picked out the ax.
Francesca
Y'.
Dustin Ross
All.
Francesca
It was falling off the bone. Y' all know, like that old man Walt is him. He walks away. It look like that. He's so great. But yes, so many great recipes. I mean, if you want to learn how to make a proper baked potato, he got side dishes. He also has a lot of desserts too. Like he had like a Oreo crispy cream concoction. You can whip up up chocolate, bourbon pecan pie, even a bourbon glazed ham. Yeah. So I'm telling you, these people are great. This one's good too. The. The southern one. Because he has also like a lot of holiday must haves like a whole section just for the holidays. So if you want. I know holidays is tricky. Right. Because you don't want to.
Asante
Yeah.
Dustin Ross
The cranberry sauce meals.
Francesca
Yeah. When you have to bring it to somebody house. But if you're just cooking for, you know, the hell of it, just for yourself to just friendsgiving recipes. Yeah.
Dustin Ross
You gotta start somewhere, you know.
Francesca
Absolutely. And I think this is a good way to kinda start understanding flavor. Right. Flavor profiles, palates, what you like, how to mix things, how to adjust things as well. Cause there's some people that I'll try their recipe and I'll be like, mm, too salty. I feel like I need more seasoning.
Dustin Ross
Not salty enough.
Francesca
Right. You kind of need to figure out what you can do to modify it for your palette. But yeah, I just wanted to highlight these two creatives that I'm really enjoying their work. And I think it's cool when creatives give us free content for many Years, you know, And I think we have to make a habit of supporting them. We should put something out. Yeah. It's important, you know, keep them going, but that's it. I just want to remind y', all, it's Cordarius Green Kitchen Culture, the new Southern Table. That one is not available on Amazon for some reason. I checked to see if I could post a link, but it's only on TikTok. But the everything's Good by Tony Chapman is absolutely on Amazon, and you can grab that.
Dustin Ross
She makes Chinese food, y'. All.
Francesca
She does. Mm. The fried chicken wings with the pork fried rice, If I could master that. I need to see if she did it, like, New York style. Like, I need to taste it. Cause we know what that tastes like.
Dustin Ross
And me personally, if I make something like that, I'm also gonna go ahead and order the little styrofoam container and little foil. Little foil sheet and go in and just serve it that way. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. The way it's supposed to be served. Yes.
Francesca
And for me, I would love to. Actually, I'm going to test it over break and let y' all know. I would love that. Especially because we don't have hood Chinese out here. And maybe we do. Maybe someone listening that knows this, you know, hole in the wall spots in some corner somewhere could tell me. But I know we have tried to find it. Gone to all kinds of neighborhoods, and nothing tastes good. It just don't. The egg rolls out here taste weird. Like, it's just.
Dustin Ross
Hell, no, it's not.
Francesca
It.
Asante
That's how I feel about the Chinese food out here.
Francesca
I feel like one out there.
Asante
I was about to say there's a.
Francesca
Couple of spots, but I get you. It don't. It's not like.
Asante
It's not like a. A wide. Like, as. For as many spots as y' all got out here and for the prices y' all selling, the fact that I gotta, like, get pick and choose spots. Like, it can't just be like, yeah, all right. For real. This ain't consistent out here. For real.
Francesca
I'm gonna send you the name of the one that I go to. I just gotta ask, because I don't remember the exact name, but there's one that we go to when we're in Charlotte, and it's like, every time it makes me feel like we're in New York, but. But yes, more cooking during break is something I'm actually really excited about. I went from, like, not wanting to be in the kitchen, like, that to. I'd say what we cooking today? Just being happy to, like, try new things, you know, I think I was always someone that was more work oriented. And for me it was like, who had time to be in the kitchen? Not me.
Dustin Ross
Did you get that kitchen?
Francesca
A. Oh, the beautiful sage one with the wooden bowl? No. Doesn't it look like it belongs?
Dustin Ross
What you waiting on?
Francesca
Because am I really gonna use it? Yes. Gonna sit there.
Dustin Ross
You just said you wanted to learn how to make desserts. There's your reason. Yep, that's true.
Francesca
That's if it's even available.
Dustin Ross
Because it was available. Long time you've seen it, it's available.
Francesca
Mm. You gotta tell me twice, but that's it for wellness. If you guys have any chefs that you're totally into or any cookbooks, definitely send them my way. I'm building my little shelf of cookbooks in the kitchen, which I think is so cute to just be able to, like, you know, pop one out and try some new things as needed. But, yeah, just wanna put that into your awareness in case you were looking and interested and kind of on the same wave. That's it for. Yeah, that's it for this week in wellness.
Asante
All right. Lots of fun things in music. Just a couple of things I want to touch on very quickly, and then we can get on into those songs to play listens lately. But as far as artists to mention, I just want to go on ahead and shout out my fellow Pisces sister, Summer Walker. Finally over it has debuted at number two on the Billboard 200. Um, she not only secured the biggest R and B debut by a woman in 2025, but also chalked up her four top 10 entry on the chart. Um, I just want to say, Summer, I am proud of you. I bought, I purchased because I needed to hear the session 34. She had a deluxe. There are new bonus tracks. Um, there's a 1-800-heartbreak without Anderson, which actually, I said last week that I listened to the song. I don't listen to his part. I listened to his part. His part is really, really, really dope. It feels like the song actually kind of changes. So it's like when you listen to two songs almost. But because that happens, I appreciate the solo version and. But his part is dope. I want to say. It's not like it's a. A throwaway or he did anything whack. It's Anderson pack. So obviously he's gonna do his thing and he did his thing. But I love Summer Walker. That's how I. I strongly love her. That's how I felt about Drake being on their remix of that song. It doesn't mean that I'm right. It just is a taste thing. Okay. That's just my preference. Glad that she is up there doing her thing. I had to shout her out because the album, it's 18 songs. It's an offering. It's the final installment of her over it series. And now that we have put the button in it by releasing the project, I'm just curious to see what more of the visuals, if any, look like. And, you know, I just love my girl. Speaking of girls, I love the last one I want to shout out very quickly is Beyonce. Oh, I just want to shout her out.
Francesca
That's it.
Asante
She dropped a picture on her Instagram of her in Las Vegas and people are already saying, oh, my God, act three. And we can't go into the holidays like this, guys. I just can't do it. But since you guys have done it to me, I'm just going to drop it there and mention it just like that and keep it moving on. You guys, thank you all so much. That's all. I want to mention the music this week. Now we can go on ahead and move into the listens lately because, friend, I want to know what you have been over there listening too lately. And you two destined in a moment.
Francesca
This week was kind of a struggle. I'm not gonna lie. I was like, I don't. I don't. Nothing was really, like coming to me that I wanted to play. But I will choose some stuff that I have been playing, I guess the past month of anything instead of just.
Asante
Been in your view.
Francesca
Yeah. I still don't know how to say her name is. Y' all know KWN, Quinn, K1.
Dustin Ross
I thought it was Queen.
Francesca
Someone told me it was K1.
Asante
Oh.
Francesca
They said that we were wrong. So I'm like, okay, which one is it? Is it Quinn Queen, K1. KW, y' all know who I'm talking about. They have a song called Back of the Club that I really like and it goes super cool in the car. This is how it goes. It. Scared of saying too much Scared of not saying enough. Seems there enough. I smoke too many cigarettes, baby good. Twice it is you saying I should. I love those 90s sounds.
Asante
Yeah.
Francesca
So good vibe, right? I'm also going to play Sasha Key people. They have a song called Work that I've also been enjoying. This is how it goes. I see you trying to catch my eye don't need no permission to make you mind tonight, girl is the way they do when you buzzing up on me from behind Just like your drugs you get Baby. Girl live on my skirt, my neck and say you care for nothing like that we felt when I was now down Mouth open like you say something to me you got your hands full to keep you stable Just throw me over the table, baby. He came in like butter and then Masego. Masego's back. He has a song that's been going crazy on Tick Tock. It keeps popping up for me. It's called Unhinged. And this is how it goes. Okay, maybe I'm unhinged. Kick my about the hinge open doors I can't get in I just wanna make new friends. Dancing on the different side of the club Calling it lush, calling it lust.
Asante
Why you out there making a fuss.
Francesca
Acting unjust in the cord of love can you just let me out bail swear I won't tell if a normal girl is my destiny in my pair I'mma go there Listen to my body language I'm walking poetry, Holy matrimony Feast your eyes I say listen to my body language I'm walking poetry Holy matrimony Feast your eyes. Okay, maybe I am unhinged. Yep, those are my three for this week.
Asante
Yeah, she vibe but I'm with it.
Francesca
I was just jumping and out of that.
Asante
Dustin Ross. What have you been listening to over there?
Dustin Ross
Well, it's alternative week over here in my neck of the woods. Yeah, we ain't even gonna be bushing or playing. The first song needs no introduction. I'm just going to play it. I might not even say the name of it at all. I'm just gonna play it here. Here we go.
Francesca
We were sure we never see an end to it.
Dustin Ross

Francesca
A piece of you in a. Our lives are forever changed. We will never be the same. The more you change, the less you feel. Believe, believe in me. Believe, believe Life can change. Yeah, I needed that.
Asante
That's crazy.
Dustin Ross
Now this next song I'm gonna play. Y' all probably don't know, but it's white too. This song is called Elephants and Little Girls. And it's by Lock Locke Mind. And it's just a beautiful song.
Francesca
I'm Unfamiliar on here. Let's work together, let's run together. We'll ride in the back of an elephant. I'll tell you all the tears back I All the tears back. And we'll go somewhere warm and we'll go somewhere new. And we'll go somewhere warmer and we'll go somewhere new. Now we're having fun. Now we're having fun.
Dustin Ross
We had to let that ride a little bit. Y' all just see, I like that.
Francesca
Especially when it dropped. That was. That's a nice find.
Dustin Ross
And that's it for me this week. Took y' all to Brooklyn.
Francesca
And back.
Asante
Shout out to my homeboy V. Cartier. He has a song called so Good that is out and it's so good, so good. And here's how it goes.
Francesca

Asante
Shout out to my boy V. So good, so good by V. Cartier spelled V period. C A R T I E R are. It's just dope when you know people that just make dope music all the time. Dustin Ross
Thank you.
Asante
What have you been watching?
Dustin Ross
I am so excited about TV Land this week because on some real. This was one of the best episodes of the Real Housewives of Potomac of all time.
Francesca
Damn.
Dustin Ross
Season 10, episode 8. That was an incredible fucking episode of the Real Housewives of Potomac. And Stacy Rush, I'm not even gonna go all into it and do a deep dive, but Stacey Rush, this is her sophomore season. She came last year. This is our sophomore season, and she had her moment. When you're. When you're a housewife, you know, hall of Famer, when you're an all star housewife, something happens during your tenure as a housewife that's unforgettable, that people will begin to use and apply and adapt in their own lives, their own vernacular, their own way, day to day life. Stacy Rush had her moment this episode. She was in a verbal disagreement with a lady named Cookie, who's a friend of Karen and Keanu Kindness and apparently Chris Samuels, too, who is the ex husband of Monique Samuels. But anyway, they were involved in a disagreement And Wendy Oseffo, Dr. Oseppo, started trying to redirect the group's energy in a certain way. And she said that it was only right if they were going to discuss Monique, that Monique be there with them for the conversation when she did that Cookie, the lady who Stacy was having a disagreement with is standing to her left, was just standing there. And Stacy does just like this with her finger. And so the Cookie lady is like, don't you point your finger at me. And then Stacy goes. And so this whole thing breaks out, but it's all from this and that finger point. We w. We literally watched and witnessed in real time, Stacy Rush get. Get her housewife star on their walk of fame. You know what I'm saying? We. We saw it in real time. Stacy had her moment. So go back and watch that. The Bell Collective reunion was great. Watch that on OWN as well as Love and Marriage Huntsville. That was great too. We had a great conversation with Kimmy OG Kimmy from the cast. We had a conversation with her on Monday night, me and Carlos King. So make sure you go to his YouTube channel and check that. That out. And then I'm just gonna be honest with you Baddies. USA Chapter one started on Zeus and it was an incredible episode.
Asante
It was really, really good.
Dustin Ross
It was an incredible episode from start to finish. I want to send a huge congratulations to Scotty with the body. Scotty with the body is pregnant. She's having a girl child. She's pregnant. She's having a baby with.
Asante
Network.
Dustin Ross
That's the name.
Francesca
So he's. He's not married.
Dustin Ross
He never was married. I don't know why people made it up, but he was never married or engaged to into Nisha.
Francesca
What?
Dustin Ross
Never.
Francesca
Okay.
Dustin Ross
So him and Scotty are having a baby. They're having a baby and they had a huge gender reveal. And there's a really sweet clip actually going around where Rolly was giving her congratulations at their gender reveal and she got choked up. She was like, I'm just so happy for y'. All. She was like. And I just. She got choked. Rolly. Okay. If you watch the shows, you know how big of a deal this was. She got choked up and she was like, I just. I just love Scotty so much. I just. And it was just really emotional because they really are friends and so.
Francesca
Right.
Dustin Ross
It showed a softer side to the baddies universe and I appreciated it. So. But the episode was good. And it's gonna be some good ass fights. So make sure y' all watch that. But that's it this week. That's it for TV and land.
Francesca
That means that is it for us. Thanks for hanging out with us yet another week. We love you guys so much. And make sure to come back next week for another episode.
Asante
Stay black and protect your magic.
Francesca
Bye, y'. All.
Dustin Ross

Episode: A Pin In Karrin
Hosts: Dustin Ross, Hey Fran Hey (Francesca), Asante
Date: November 26, 2025
In this engaging and hilarious episode, the trio dives deep into a viral TikTok scandal involving content creator Brene Kenard, toxic friendships, marital drama, and a landmark lawsuit in North Carolina. With their signature wit and unfiltered takes, Dustin, Fran, and Asante unpack everything from the foolishness of illiteracy (prompted by Juelz Santana’s viral comments) to the complicated and messy dynamics of love, loyalty, and social media fame.
The episode is broken up with their usual warmth—book club recaps, music selections, wellness chatter, and listener correspondence. However, the central feature is Dustin’s thorough, laugh-out-loud retelling of “the curious case of Brene Kenard,” leading both co-hosts and listeners through an almost unbelievable saga of betrayal, internet sleuths, and real-life consequences for messy choices.
"I just. I could keep going, but I'd have to use some more words and apparently that's not cool around me."
"I love that it's a parent considering how their decision making is shifting the trajectory of their kids’ lives."
Timestamps: 35:19–85:43
Dustin leads a detailed, scandal-driven storytelling session about TikTok influencer Brene Kenard and a North Carolina lawsuit that made internet headlines:
Brene & Devin's marriage falters; Brene moves in with Akira & Tim.
Immediate inappropriateness: Brene walks around with no bra, skimpy clothes; leaves the home messy; spends late nights talking to Tim.
Akira copes through body piercings, tries not to trouble anyone, and delays direct confrontation.
Quote (Dustin, 55:00):
"The minute that I heard the noise of the skin of your titty slapping against your stomach…That’s the kind of stuff you have to lean into the very first time it happens."
The “twist of all twists”: Karrin is pregnant by Tim while in a long-term relationship with someone else (and her kid looks just like Tim).
Akira, sick of her kids appearing in Brene’s content, sues for "alienation of affection," a North Carolina law allowing the spouse to sue the third party in a marriage for damages.
Brene, representing herself, loses spectacularly.
Verdict: Jury awards Akira $1.75 million in damages ($1.5M for alienation of affection, $250k for criminal conversation).
Quote (Dustin, 84:02):
"Drawers up and your dresses down…Stop fucking everybody. Some things you just don’t need to do because it can literally get out of control."
Whether you want a laugh-out-loud retelling of one of TikTok’s messiest scandals, unvarnished takes on social issues, or just to feel like you’re hanging with the funniest, sharpest friends on the internet, this episode delivers. The story of Brene Kenard has it all—betrayal, viral fame, familial mess, courtroom drama, and lessons you won’t forget.
For those who missed the episode, this summary tells you everything (and more!) you need to know.
