Francesca
Welcome to the Friend Zone.
Dustin
Every time I'm in the zone, my name is Dustin. I'm Francesca, also known as. Hey, friend. Hey.
Asante
My name is Asante. This is the friend Zone.
Francesca
Let's start the show.
Dustin
Because look, at the end of the day, people do what the fuck you allow. This bitch is a child and I ain't got time for that shit. Damn. What happened?
Francesca
Well, I'm going to tell you what happened, okay? Because it didn't even happen to me. But I was. I was. I had a view in. You know what I'm saying? So I don't know if y' all have noticed, but there has been a succession right of. Of occurrences that people have just been harassing Busta Rhymes, like in public places. I don't know if y' all have noticed anything about this, but this is a real. We about to run down three instances, right? So like last week, shout out to.
And they picking the wrong one. So last week, shout out to Miami. I performed at the Miami Improv on Thursday. Great show. Thank you so much. Shout out to everybody that was there. Shout out my miao, the yams. You know what I'm saying? Shout out to Miami. Shout out to Mouse Jones. He opened the show, did a great job.
Dustin
Oh, that's so cute.
Francesca
And shout out to the whole staff at the Miami Improv. And I'm coming back. That staff was the it. I'll be back. But the show was on Thursday, the weekend at Art Basel, right? Everybody knows Miami, Art Basel, celebrities everywhere, art events everywhere. People are actually, what I love about Art Basel is that even though it's one of those weekends, people actually go and buy art. People actually go and go to the art shows. Like they're actively participating in the intention of the weekend. So that makes me feel good as a. That everyone. To lose the soul. I'm getting old. I'm that age. Like, I don't be on to lose the heartbeat of it. You know what I'm saying?
Dustin
Yeah.
Francesca
Anyway, so Buster Rhymes was down there at Art Basel or whatever. He was going in some video in some party, shout out to the neighborhood, talk. We love y' all at the neighborhood.
Dustin
Talk.
Francesca
But they posted a video of Buster Rhymes walking in this party and this white boy, this white streamer, like, approached him. Right, right. You know, and that. We gonna get to that. But he approached Busta Rhymes and said, hey, what's up, Tracy Morgan?
Dustin
No.
Francesca
He looked like he was about 15, you know what I'm saying? Like, young, nigga, whatever. I'm gonna play y' all just a little bit of the audio of what happened when Busta Rhymes. When that boy.
Dustin
Damn.
Asante
Well, yeah.
Francesca
When he did what he did to Busta Rhymes.
Dustin
I'm cringing.
Asante
I'm asking you a question. Trying to be funny. So what you mean, Tracy, my boy?
Francesca
What that mean?
Asante
Everyone say Tracy. I ain't hear nobody say Tracy.
Francesca
Bro. He asked him, was he trying to be funny, you know what I'm saying? And there was more dialogue in that setting as well, that same weekend, right? Another guy. It was another streamer. Black guy, this time. He approached Busta Rhymes asking for a picture. Buster was on the walk into an event. So he very politely declined the picture, right. But was showing love to everybody, shook everybody's hand. He was like, I'm just walking in. I can't take no pictures. But much love, hugging everybody. All that the guy says to Buster R. All right, then. Stay black. I want y' all to hear how Busta Rhymes reacted today. Bronx in the house, real quick.
Asante
Buster. Appreciate the love let me give him. I'll see you later. Stay black. You heard? Stay black. Stay black, boss. So what else I'm supposed to be?
Francesca
You a clown now, too?
Asante
I know.
Francesca
Clown. What the you mean, stay black?
Asante
That's my slogan.
Francesca
I don't know that slogan. Don't say it to me. That's what I'm joking with you. It's all good that I ain't doing your photo.
Asante
All right.
Francesca
Have a good day, though. Happy, happy holidays and all that. Happy New Year and all that.
Asante
All right. All right, cool.
Francesca
The y' all keep playing.
Asante
That's what I'm saying. Stay black is my thing, bro. I don't give a what it is.
Francesca
All right. No doubt, no doubt, no doubt, no doubt. All right, Busters on.
Dustin
He tired of everybody.
Francesca
Now, if you remember, I want y' all to jog your memories back to 20, 23.
Dustin
Oh, God.
Francesca
Busta Rhymes was in veg walking in that event. Remember, it was a video that had surfaced when he was in Vegas, walking in with a small entourage. And it was a lady, black lady. She might even be Spanish. She looked like a lady of color. Whatever she was, she still walked behind him a little bit. She kind of did like this, like, put her hand on her face, kind of leaned back. And then she hit his ass. Grabbed his ass.
Dustin
Oh, that.
Asante
I moved her hand back.
Francesca
And you remember, he. What did he do? He turned around and doused her ass with that drink that was in his hand. You know what I'm saying? So.
Asante
So people been with Busta Rhymes.
Francesca
And now my thing.
What you think is gonna happen, you know what I'm saying, when you bust? First of all, Busta Rhymes in there, his stomach hurt, you know, his stomach hurt. Busta Rhymes got gas, you know? You know, his stomach hurt and he bloated, you know what I'm saying? We've seen Busta Rhymes, belly. We've seen that. And we know that Busta Rhymes looks uncomfortable, right? Physically, he looks uncomfortable. He's been dyeing his hair. That's got to be, you know, stressed out, stressing him out, you know what I'm saying? The jewelry is always too tight. He always looks stiff. Busta Rhymes feet hurt all the time. You can look at his feet and tell that they hurt. He's tired of walking. Busta Rhyme's a man of a certain age, you know, so all this bullshit, people coming up to him with bullshit at playing games and joking and shit. Buster rhyme's a 50 something year old black man.
Dustin
Yeah.
Francesca
He don't want to hear and deal with that bullshit. Y' all lucky he's not slapping your asses.
Dustin
I was gonna say he's from a different era. Now.
Francesca
They playing, literally playing games. And I felt some kind of way about the Tracy Morgan comparison. Because first of all, we all know Tracy Morgan almost lost his life a few years ago, you know what I'm saying? He was very close to death. He's one of them black celebrities that I don't really think a lot of people talk about the fact that we protect Tracy Martin, we protect Tracy Morgan, okay? When it comes to the way that we give it up, that was disrespectful. As. Do they look alike?
Asante
Well, no.
Dustin
But once he said he was a streamer. You knew it Was all made sense. You know what I mean?
Asante
Yeah. Because he's old enough to know who Tracy Morgan is, but not Busta Rhymes.
Dustin
He don't know anyone.
Asante
Right. That's what I'm like.
Dustin
He started dating. Yeah.
Francesca
He gonna bust your ass. My new thing is this. I think I'm gonna start wearing belts again. I wear a lot of sweatpants and. And like, when I do have on denim, I've usually had it tailored. I us my jeans tailored and these days. But you know what? I'm about to go back to buying a 34. 34. I mean, a 3432. Cuffing that bottom and putting a belt in my pants so I can take it off and start whooping.
I'm telling you, you got to be on Go. And that's the one weapon you can get in the club is a belt. I'm about to start. I'm telling you, I'm about to start wearing belts again because this stupid ass streaming these games, literally that people play. Shout out to Bet. Y' all remember that show Games people play. Kendall was on that show. Shout out to my boy Kendall. But anyway, these games people is playing, you know what I'm saying? It's time out for that shit. Wear a belt.
Dustin
Terrible.
Francesca
That's my suggestion.
Dustin
Buster telling him have a bad day.
Francesca
And told him he was going to fuck him up. And Busta Rhymes, he actually needs a belt because his ass and his stomach was sticking out. So like, cover that. Pull your pants up. Bust a bus. You busting out.
Asante
Well, I did just see Busta Rhymes last month, and I can confirm he does look a little bit like Tracy Morgan to me. No, I'm just kidding. Buster was great when I seen him perform. Him and Split Star, it was great to see them perform.
Dustin
So who's this?
Asante
I said last month back in. At the end of October when I went to that festival.
Dustin
One Music. Oh, shit. Okay.
Asante
Yeah. Bust around. During the Roots Fest, the Roots segment, Mary J came out and Busta Rhymes and Split Star came out. At some point, I was about to try to remember everybody, but that's crazy.
Dustin
That there's still a duo.
Asante
All these and still good. It was still magic. Like at one point, like Busta's rapping and then Spliff is like turning him down. So the Buster gets quiet and then he turns it back up. It was cute.
Francesca
I was like, okay, they still got.
Asante
The sauce to match. Yeah.
Francesca
I mean, think about it is Busta Rhymes was one of those unforgettable rappers. Right? He wasn't just rapping. He rapped in a way that was unique, you know what I'm saying? His voice, his tone of voice, the cadence, looks. Yes.
Dustin
He played with a lot of different aesthetics.
Francesca
They wore costumes. They had full out productions and videos and back then, all them Hype Williams videos. And everybody remember. Yeah, don't, don't, don't.
Asante
Everybody remember.
Francesca
You know what I'm saying?
Dustin
What?
Asante
Yeah.
Dustin
He has such a large way.
Asante
Him and. Him and Janet. That video right there, that was sexy. Buster was our always like cool and amazing and awesome visuals. But y' all know he got me. When he started going futuristic and shit.
Francesca
I was like, all right, now that's your zhuz, right? Yeah.
Dustin
Bust a bus.
Francesca
I know, man. I hope he be all right, you know what I'm saying? He don't spaz out on nobody. Tweak it, you know what I'm saying?
Asante
I want to tell him to stay black and protect his magic. And he go off on me. What you mean?
Francesca
They're like, that's my slogan.
Asante
I was like, that could have been me.
Dustin
But why y' all think he took that one so personal?
Francesca
Because the guy was being.
Dustin
You thought he was being okay.
Francesca
They had a little bit of.
Dustin
To take a picture. So he was trying to tell him, like, don't be Hollywood.
Asante
Stay black. Stay black.
Francesca
I don't like that nasty spirit. When you're a fan of somebody and. And you try. You. First of all, people like that are not real fans, you know what I'm saying?
Dustin
Because of how quick they flip because they didn't get what they want. Yeah.
Francesca
You wanted to try to remove him from wherever he was and bring him into something messy and confrontational. And that's a nasty ass spirit. And that's why you got cussed out in front of everybody. And it's forever immortalized on camera in the bl. You know what I'm saying?
Asante
Haha.
Francesca
We're laughing at you now. You know what I'm saying? You're not famous for nothing. You're not gonna get anywhere because of that. It's just irrelevant, like, behavior. So I'm gonna start wearing belts again.
Dustin
I would die if a video came out.
Asante
I mean.
Francesca
Dustin back. Okay, it's time, man. How y' all feeling?
Asante
Cold.
Dustin
It is cold. Even out here. It's cold.
Asante
Tired of being cold.
Francesca
I'm so tired of being cold.
Asante
Saying al. It's just cold as hell. Like everywhere I go.
Dustin
Yeah, yeah, y'.
Asante
All.
Dustin
This arctic cold.
Asante
It's like somebody be sneezing. Cold air. It's just like, God damn.
Francesca
And then when you get bundled up and you have to walk like a few blocks, you get hot.
Asante
Yeah. So it's like, why am I hot.
Francesca
In this cold outside? I'm miserable. It's a horrible existence.
Asante
For real. As long as you're not sweating cold. Because that's like the worst. Like, if you. If it's like cold and you hot and then you start to sweat and then you cool down and then you get cold, like in those places too.
Francesca
It's like a friend's face.
Asante
What happens.
Dustin
That's how you get sick.
I had a. A weird ass experience that still has me, like, a little bit unsettled. I was.
I was driving. I went to the supermarket to go grab some stuff that we needed. And when I come back, I'm getting out the car in front of the house and I go to close the door, and I see that a car comes and slows down in front of me. I guess they've been following me. I didn't realize. And that's scary, right? Because it's your house.
Francesca
Yes. You're alone.
Dustin
You don't know why he slowed down like that. I see it's a dude and he's cursing me the fuck out. I'm talking about. He's like, you fucking bitch. Like, yelling, visibly enraged. Imagine me, I'm confused because I'm like, what is he. What just happened? Completely oblivious. I also see, like, a part of his bumper is hanging, but I know I didn't hit him because my car has the sensor. Remember I told y', all, you can't do anything with my car nearing anything without it doing that full stop. And, you know, then it starts going like it would be virtually impossible. But he's, like, wiling out, cursing. And then my heart drops because I'm like, is he about to get. You know, you don't know, like, the rage that people feel. I'm in front of my house. Like, it was just so unsettling. He did drive past and just keep going, but the whole time I was just like.
Francesca
And still don't know what he was.
Dustin
Talking about and still have no clue. That's the part that I couldn't relax about because it was like I was. Two things were freaking me out that I didn't notice I was being followed. I'm someone that always has my head on a swivel. So that was super confusing because I was like, damn. I don't like. Yeah, like, how long was it where.
Francesca
Like, feeling like you got caught slipping I get it. Yeah.
Dustin
You know what I mean? And we've talked about this before, right? Where we've had a conversation off the record, of just those feelings where you're just like, what the fuck just happened? Did not like that. All so unsettling. I barely could sleep. Because then you start thinking, are they coming back? Like, what is. What was the. What was the rage and made him, like, take it to the point where he felt like he needed to follow me home.
Francesca
Right.
Dustin
Isn't that so weird?
Francesca
I hope he went off the road on the way home. Funky motherfucker. I hope you ass roll down the hill somewhere, bitch and dunk. Go dunking in the river.
Asante
I hope she's older, younger, young.
Dustin
And as a woman, you know, you're.
Francesca
Just like, yeah, it could be. Go. Anyway. That's very dangerous. Yeah.
Asante
Let me ask you this.
Dustin
And you. So many stories of, like, unhinged people, you know, having all kinds of experiences and road rage. And, I mean, we've seen a couple just this week of some really weird, tragic shit. So it's like, just a really unsettling feeling.
Francesca
I'm sorry that happened to you, man. Something like, something a little bit similar happened to another one of our friends this week, I'll tell you.
Dustin
Really?
Francesca
Yeah. But.
Yeah, that's unsettling, dude. Does anybody have access to any, like, ring camera footage from that? Just. Yeah, you pull a plate.
Dustin
Yeah, yeah.
Francesca
You know what I'm saying?
Dustin
Yeah, absolutely.
Francesca
Take that down now just so you had it, and you can just in case.
Dustin
Yeah, yeah. Because it's just like, don't make me.
Francesca
Get on a plane with Dwayne.
Asante
Okay. I'm about to say, yeah, it can be a two peep.
Dustin
That's the other part, too, that gets unsettled because once I came in and said what happened, it was all like, you already know. About to jump in the car, go chase. I'm like, listen, I don't. I already don't know what the fuck happened. The last thing I need is to put you in the middle of some crazy shit with some crazy person. But I will say this. You know, you guys know how I've been, like, uncomfortable with the idea of guns, And I'm just, like, trying to make myself feel comfortable and be like, these are things I need to do. And it's just the reality we live in for some reason. Last night, all that changed.
Asante
We going to the range?
Francesca
For sure.
Asante
We going to the range.
Dustin
We went to the store, and I was like, I want that. I said, I want that. Mossberg Pump.
Asante
See, friend. See, friend. Okay. I'm glad you got there. Right.
Dustin
Because it changed. That just completely took me out.
Asante
As she was telling that story, I did want to suggest just. It would have been amazing for you to just show it to him. But I know you. I know. I know how you are. You wasn't there. So the fact that you jumped all the way there, friend.
Francesca
Yes.
Dustin
But even that, you know why that sucks to me? Because that's a. That's like calling in. In my opinion, once you start being that person, then you flash it and then whatever flashes.
Asante
It's not going to do it all the time. You're not going to do it often. You're not even going to do it. This probably been the only time you did it.
Dustin
Right. That's why I'm like, hopefully it's never a reality, but it's something about that just really made me feel like, holy, there's some crazy fucking people out here. Like, the fact that they followed me home. I don't.
Francesca
You don't bother nobody.
Dustin
And I know for a fact that I didn't do anything because I didn't touch no one's car. Yeah, I know. I'm a relig. I'm a newer driver, but there was nothing. And I can truly say that there was nothing. I didn't take nobody off from hitting.
Asante
Somebody or somebody hitting you or backing into something or the thing going off the.
Dustin
Yeah, it's impossible. Like, I'm telling you, it's impossible. I don't know if maybe his car was parked at the market. I started thinking, like, was his car parked? Someone hit it? He saw me pulling out and maybe he assumed it was me. Like, what is it that happened? He followed. Like, I had just. And then you feel that, that. That my heart was beating so fast. Cause I was like, if he was unhinged enough to follow me and yell at me like that, what, like, what is he have planned? Like, my mind went just so many places. I was like, oh, my God.
Francesca
You also grew up in New York, and so you're. You're used to engaging with people in close spaces, like, whatever. Those sort of interactions work differently in suburban communities and other cities where mass transit is not a thing like that.
Dustin
Right?
Francesca
People. People see. Especially in today's age of, like, social media and the Internet, people see confrontations online and think, like, well, if I. Something happened to me, I'm gonna do this like that. And right now, everybody's so amped up anyway that people are doing dumb shit like that. That nothing even happened. But whatever in his. His mind took place. Yeah, he decided to go there. I' ma follow her home and say how I feel type, you know what I'm saying? He was eager and excited to have a confrontation with someone. It sounds like to me when you go that far to follow somebody home.
Dustin
And wait, follow some and, you know, my car is tinted, so he. Unless he's. I don't know where he saw me. I don't know if he saw me get in. I don't know. But what I do know is you saw a woman get out.
Francesca
Yeah, bitch ass nigga, you know what I'm saying?
Dustin
Like, you saw a woman get out, coming into her home. He don't know if the house is full of small children. He don't know nothing. He don't know. He don't know like. Or he don't even know if I could have been a door dasher just delivering something to someone's house. This could have been my job. Like, whatever the case for him to slow down like that. But the fact that he did just also keep driving was weird, too, because it was like, well, if you gonna do all that, you could have gave.
Francesca
Me the finger two blocks ago.
Dustin
That's what I'm saying. You're gonna do that and then keep driving. But it just. God, it just was such a. You know what it is? I was just telling my partner, like, I live in such a bubble. Like, yeah, for the most part, I don't really deal with shit like that. I just don't deal with shit like that. To be real with you, even. Especially after leaving New York, you know, New York, you have little weird interactions. It just comes with the territory. You on the train, somebody's gonna say something stupid, whatever. Or at home, depending on your neighborhood. But it's been such a long time that I've even been in those spaces.
Francesca
I get it.
Dustin
You know? I get it.
Francesca
Y' all remember, y' all know, Right?
Dustin
Right. That's what I was thinking. So it just, like, pulls you out. Cause you're like, oh, my God, what the fuck is going on?
Francesca
I get it. Well, fuck him. Like I said, I hope he get gangrene. You know what I'm saying? And I hope he gets.
Dustin
But I got my Mossberg pump, so at least he inspired that.
Francesca
Disagree. Pump on my lap at all times.
Asante
Okay.
Dustin
You know, and I told. I was like, I want to go get the guy we got it from was saying that to get the concealed carry as well for like, the smaller gun, you know, there's like a four hour class and I got all the information. It just like, it just. No way, no way, no way.
Francesca
You have to protect yourself. You have to get the try. Come back around the block, spin the block. We're gonna be like, Mona, Leo, put you down. Okay. Putting you down.
Asante
Pow.
Dustin
I don't like that. I hate that. I hate.
Francesca
I know it, baby.
Dustin
I know it. I don't like that. But sometimes real estate, you have to.
Francesca
Turn a into Swiss cheese.
Asante
She got a shotgun.
Dustin
You should have seen friend.
Francesca
Yosemite friend.
Dustin
But the guy laughed because he was like, oh, do you want like, you know this little one you put in your purse? And I, and I looked behind him. I was like, what's that, Mossberg?
Asante
You said?
Dustin
He was like, oh, okay. He turned around like, well, damn, bitch.
Francesca
You should have said, this is Oregon.
Asante
I mean, honestly, that is trying to figure it out.
Dustin
He was like, you going hunting or.
Asante
Yeah, honestly, I see, I see the appeal. Right? Because it's like you don't really want to have to use it ever.
Dustin
God forbid.
I talk to God. Like I don't even want this to be my reality. But I also don't want to be dumb and think that this isn't a reality.
Francesca
My whole family carry in Michigan legally. They all got licenses and shit. They walking around, honey. You hear me? Like that. That's.
Dustin
You know what I'm saying?
Francesca
And most non violent family ever. Not even on that. We don't be in no crazy. Nobody went did no beard for that. Yeah, but people have things to protect, you know what I mean? And families. Yeah.
Dustin
God, what a reality.
Francesca
Yeah. And what a reality check you heard. Because guess what? You finna do. Click clack.
Asante
Okay, my friend, that's so very real. Like what you're saying is, is it makes me think of when I'm thinking about moving. Remember I said I was thinking about moving back to Atlanta and looking at cars. But how the white is down there breaking in windows. Like what you're talking about is different, but it's still under the category of like some unhinged vehicular bullshit. Yep. Like that intersection of those two things, it's like a. I hope that man. Well, I hope he steps his toe. I hope he has to. He's arrested for child support. I don't know. I hope something bad happens to his.
Francesca
Ass, but I really hope get knocked up.
Dustin
Up. Oh my God.
Asante
I really hope. That was an instance where he just snapped off and left. He is not thinking about you no more and won't Come back.
Dustin
Me too. Me too.
Asante
But you, like, don't. Nobody got time for that. Like, whatever the he was going through. Just because you have you having a moment to stop and be like, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, Drive off. You're not a better. You're not gonna have no more money after that. Like, now you are running the risk of getting shot the next time you do some like that today.
Dustin
And it was the anger that, you know, when you see that on in the road rage videos, like, circulating, it'd be like the level of anger you.
Francesca
Would think you had really done something to him, like, hurt him in some way was like.
Dustin
And let's say. Let's say. Which I know I didn't because like I said, my car sensor wouldn't have allowed me to not know. But let's say I did hit his bumper and that's why his bumper was hanging like that.
Francesca
It still didn't work.
Dustin
The person home. And yet, like, that could have been like, yo, you hit my shit. Like, get out talk. You know what I'm saying? Like, that's. I'm like, where did that part come in?
Asante
I hope.
Dustin
I hope immediate, like war, you know, like, God damn, I hope you eat.
Francesca
Glass and it out. That's what I hope. Oh, it cut you straight from the top to bottom hoe. That's what I hope.
Dustin
And then it was the double panic because I told you my partner was pushing through the door to jump in the car. And I was like, what are you gonna do? Like, chase him? Like, and then what?
Asante
Here's the thing.
Francesca
Yes, I love your friend.
Dustin
To me, it's like, no, absolutely.
Asante
It's not necessarily.
I know friend and. And friend. I love you and I know. And actually, you are probably right. Right. Because I'm a. And I just have to admit that.
Dustin
Absolutely right. You are not. But here's the chase. Here's the one thing you just drove home.
Asante
Well, yeah, yeah, yeah, right. Here's one thing I do want you to just not take for granted, and.
Francesca
I know that you don't.
Asante
The fact that you have somebody that's willing to do that for you, not that you want them to chase nobody, but the fact that someone is willing to. To be there and want to protect you in that manner, because I don't know why. I've been watching some shows where people are feeling like my partner. Look, I don't know why I'm reading some books where people feel like they partners aren't really showing up for them. So to hear that partner just, you Know Shameless plug. Join Patreon patreon.com Friendzone podcast if you want to know about the Measure. But if you can see this book, then you know what this is. If you're listening, I'm holding up a book. It's called the Measure. That's why I just plugged our Patreon.
But the fact that you have a partner willing to, like, hold you down like, that is just so beautiful. Someone that's willing to.
Dustin
I mean, I'm grateful that there's someone in the house that I know. Like, God forbid, you know, but at.
Francesca
The same time, that's exactly why you don't want to make him vulnerable to race.
Dustin
That's what I'm saying. At the same time, and I love.
Asante
That you don't do that.
Dustin
Comes over you as a human being. Like, I didn't want to bring this energy to my house. We're peaceful here.
Asante
And I love that about you, friend, because you could have easily. Because that man could have pulled up and said something. And I don't know if your partner was home or not, but imagine you just yell out and then, you know, motherfucker get beat on the block right in front of your house. Now, like.
Dustin
And then my neighbors were probably like, what the hell? This guy's yelling at her. Now this. My partner's running out. I'm like, this is crazy, because it came out of nowhere. This isn't our life.
Francesca
A lot of partners don't even take that second to think about that, to think about the.
Asante
The.
Francesca
The consequences of escalating things by seeking that sort of, you know, help from your partner. Shout out to you for not being one of those types. Because it's not just a.
Asante
That's really why I wanted to believe.
Francesca
Guys get into it with girls and put their wives on there. You know what I'm saying? It happens both ways. But shout out even siblings putting their.
Dustin
Brothers in really crazy positions, and men feeling, you know, the need, like, okay, I gotta do. And I understand. Like, you want to feel protected, but at the same time, I'm. I'm thinking beyond that. I'm thinking of his boys. Yeah, I'm thinking of his boys. I'm thinking of his siblings. There's just way too much at risk.
Asante
You're like, it's great to have protection, but I'm thinking about the ultimate protection.
Dustin
It's not worth whatever the fuck that dude had going on. Especially because I know I didn't do anything. That's the part.
Francesca
Well, I also know you got a lot of spiritual friends. And I know you have friends of all walks of life, and you don't. You might not have the dark rocks for the window, but somebody do dark rocks. So you let me know who can do that, okay?
Dustin
This is a part of driving that you're all, yeah, I'm a driver now. And then you're like, this is the dark side.
Asante
I'm just so scared that whatever I get, I'm just scared to get my windows busted. That's the only thing I hope you.
Francesca
Got T boned on the way out. Your subdivision of somebody T boned his ass. No good.
Smash, right?
Dustin
Dummy press followed home is crazy.
Asante
That is insane, friend.
Francesca
I'm sorry.
Asante
I'm sorry that I did.
Dustin
When I tell you I still am, like, a little jittery about it. I'm like.
Francesca
I got in a fight one time back in the day at this grocery store called Meijer in Flint, Michigan. It was on a grand lake, actually. But this guy had, like, I had to make a turn or whatever. Long story short, I had to turn in front of somebody blue. Little horn wave says, sorry, whatever. Pulled in the grocery in the parking lot at, like, this store, Kind of like Walmart, right? I came out the store, and this motherfucker was literally parked next to my car, standing next to his car. Wait, you cut me off and was coming to whatever, and we got in a fist fight in the parking lot.
Dustin
Dustin.
Francesca
Cause you cut him off, but I fought him because. Bitch, what are you waiting on? You gonna get exactly what you waiting on getting out the car. You know what I'm saying? Like, what. What the fuck did you come back up here for? That was what I was confused about. Like, I'm minding my business.
Dustin
So crazy to me. It's like, what do you got going on that getting cut off is gonna anger you to the point?
Francesca
What was your point of coming back up here? What are you. What do you need to say to me about what happened? Absolutely nothing. And so the fact that you're also standing outside your vehicle.
Dustin
Yeah, but thank God that y' all kept it at a fight, you know, like, let's just fight. My thing is, if the world was like that, we had some kind of disagreement, shit's weird. Let's just fight. Then it'd be different men. Let. Let them fight. But I think it's the fact that people be quick to take it to a.
Francesca
Another level.
Dustin
Another level.
Francesca
It's a simple disagreement.
Dustin
Go ahead.
Francesca
No, you go ahead.
Dustin
No, no, no.
Francesca
Because I'm taking off right now.
Dustin
So you guys gonna say it was just last week or the week prior, that it was like a Latin dude in the highway. And I guess he had gotten into an argument with a young white dude driving. And they're arguing on the highway, which is crazy to me, how you even argue.
Francesca
That's their driving.
Dustin
As they're driving, the white dude shoots at his car and ends up killing his child who is sitting in the back.
Asante
Oh my God.
Dustin
So they pull over. Obviously the dad is freaking the fuck out. To make matters worse, he's the stepdad, so he's not even the bio parent. So he's feeling like extra hot shit. I mean, talk about fear. So he pulls over, he's crying to the cop. Cause they're showing the body cam footage and he's crying like, my son is in the backseat dead. And the white boy literally was like, I, I did it. I shot. Like, he didn't even waste time. Yeah. He was like, I didn't know it was a kid in the back. Who cares if you didn't know?
Francesca
Like, what are you trying to shoot?
Dustin
Shooting on the highway. But that to me just shows like.
Francesca
How far things can go if they get out of control.
Dustin
Possibly happened for you to feel that you had to shoot into the car. You know what I mean?
Asante
Yeah.
Dustin
That's the part that's unsettling for me, that people out here are using their rage for other shit going on. Pouring it into their cars.
Francesca
Get you a life. Stop seeking excitement from moments that you feel are sensational and shit. Him getting amped up and letting his emotions get out of the control to the point where he shot into a goddamn vehicle. Like, get your thrills somewhere else, bro. You know what I'm saying? Accomplish something in life. Get thrills. Feel validated from something healthy as opposed to living out your. Because I feel like a lot of this vigilante that's going on, a lot of these out of control people. Yes. These people feel like they are, are living. All these people that are signing up for ice, all of that.
Dustin
Right.
Francesca
You are living a fantasy that, that, that's.
Dustin
They think they're in a video game.
Francesca
Yeah. For some sick, demented, twisted ass reason. Figure it out, find it somewhere else, you know what I'm saying? Because this shit has got to stop. People are literally dying, you know what I'm saying? And from shit situations just like that. Thank God you're level headed. You probably had that hat on.
Thank God, you know what I'm saying? That it was you with a person who's Reasonable. All jokes aside, you know what I'm saying? I was able to say, hey, that was fucked up. But let's not escalate it to a point where we're now all at a.
Dustin
Because I can't. Yeah, I'm like, I would feel like, like if one of us dies over even if it was the guy, because who knows the he got going on, but it's just like, what are we doing right now?
Francesca
It was a short stringer. I've been wanting to say that, but I was trying not to just put them words out. But. Welcome to the Friends.
Asante

I'm sorry, but I just had to share that because I know that a lot of us are out here driving. There's a lot of people that really. You don't know what they got going on. And I hate it because, like, as a new driver, you really are stepping into a new world when you are on the road and you're still like, I'm still learning. There's still a lot that I'm figuring out. But that was weird for me because I know I didn't do anything, like, you know what I mean? So that's the part that's even scarier, that people are unhinged with nothing having happened. But now, you know, I didn't cut nobody off because I'm one of. I'm a turtle driver in the terms of, like, I'm gonna let you go before I try to swerve in front of you real quick. Like, that's not even how I. That's not even how I feel with the driving. I told y', all, people be honking at me simply because I'm maybe 3, 4 above the driving. You know what I mean?
Francesca
Yeah. The speed limit.
Dustin
The speed limit. Like, so.
I don't know, y'. All. I'm just unsettled, and I hate it. I don't like this feeling. And even the fact that I have to go to.
Francesca
To the shooting branch, I'm happy about that.
Asante
I. I am excited about that frame.
Dustin
And I'm not. I am. Because it's better to learn about it.
Asante
No. Disappointed. That this is the reason.
Francesca
Yeah.
Dustin
Yeah, that's exactly it. We live in a world where, like, I'm just, like, gonna go to the store to buy vegetables. And that's the thing, too. It's like, the way that life works, right? You're just, like, doing the simplest shit.
Francesca
The most mundane of tags.
Dustin
The most mundane. I'm buying peas and leafy greens. I went to go re up on pomegranates and.
Berries. Persephone, you know, buy some fresh flowers that we needed for the living room. Here I come with my bag.
Francesca
And then this maniac Tasmanian comes with.
Dustin
With his world of darkness. Go back with my bag of peas.
Francesca
You're gonna go back limping. Are you gonna go back in that back. Back of a ambulance with us.
Dustin
And I'm just. When I heard him yell the thing too, that I. I had to. And this is the New Yorker too, right? You also have that flash moment because I stood there holding the bag and I stood there in the street looking at him and I was like, what? He was like, yeah, yeah. And I was like, what? What? And then I have to be like, reel it in, reel it in. Because in that moment I was like, what? What? Cause it was more like what? No, for real. What?
Francesca
That's right. I'm glad that's in you. That dog came out friends.
Dustin
I had my bottom.
Asante
I put his hands on again.
Francesca
Busted him over the bottle right in the motherfucking dome. Split his wig with a kombucha. Energy, bitch.
Asante
All this energy and it made him.
Dustin
That's. That's exactly what I drink. Tea, the lemonade.
Asante
Patagonia, huh?
Francesca
Ye, that's right.
Dustin
But I think he kept saying yeah, yeah. Because he saw me being like, what?
Francesca
Yeah, he saw you.
Dustin
It almost like piped him up. And I was like, oh, see, this is. This is the darkness.
Francesca
And who argue with a woman like that? You ass nigga.
Dustin
A woman carrying groceries to her.
Francesca
You don't ever argue with women. You just give them the bird and keep it going. That's my first apology. And I would have taken that, you.
Asante
Know what I'm saying?
Francesca
Like, don't say even.
Dustin
I would have taken that if you deserved it.
Francesca
Yeah, you know what?
Asante
I'm gonna deserve it that if he.
Francesca
Found you did him. First of all.
Asante
Right.
Francesca
Clearly, you know what I'm saying, how wrong you was.
Asante
Even if you did him. Absolutely right. But that's what makes us all the worse.
Francesca
Like you could have done it different.
Asante
Yo, blind ass. You mad about nothing and nobody.
Francesca
Obviously your ass. Cause you the one car up. And it's probably from doing dumb like this. Somebody probably kicked your bumper off you ass.
Asante
But that's another reason to be scared.
Dustin
For him, you know, Like I know he was going to. He might be going through some things maybe. And then I was like.
Francesca
Cuz that was like, I don't give a. Get the hell out of here.
Asante
I don't. I ain't going to lie. When people ride around with their cars a certain way. Like I know, like, you know, everybody ain't got the means. That should be expensive. But sometimes I feel like they might not have like. Like they might not be all the way there too sometimes. Like they might just be like it.
Francesca
We stress, listen, shit happens. You know what I'm saying?
Asante
But that's what I'm saying. Not everybody is that. But some people. People don't be having to lose when their cars look like that. Now, I'm not talking about the ones that don't have the meat, right? And it is very easy because cars are expensive. The car is expensive. The insurance is expensive. The maintenance is expensive. The gas is expensive. Parts are service labor. Like, there are so many things.
Dustin
And then you pay for warranty or extended warranties or whatever the it is, and it don't ever cover nothing they don't do.
Asante
So I give people grace when I see their cars a certain way. Now when people are acting out and I see their cars are a certain way, I'm a little extra drive.
Dustin
Yeah.
Asante
All right. I'm gonna just have to charge this to the game and get on out the way. Like, I'm gonna have to just shut up. Cuz I hope he go to sleep.
Francesca
In the garage with the car.
Dustin
Don't y' all feel like it's. It's hard because you're just in a different phase of life now, right? Like, where? I don't care. Like, back in the day, especially you walking through the train, especially in New York, people will say some shit out of nowhere, and you be. And you just get wrapped up in it because you almost feel insulted. Like, who the fuck are you to think you could talk to, you know? Like, you can't even help it. Like, you're like, did I look like a pussy that you could just think you could say that? I'm gonna keep walking. You can't help it. You start arguing, you don't even know what the fuck's happening. I hate that. I hate that. And now I've gotten to a point where I'm like, you got it.
You won. You thought I was some stuff.
Francesca
Don't be worth it.
Dustin
It's like, I don't even. My life is too sweet and lovely and peaceful for me to be pulled in to whatever people got going on. Because a lot of times, that's all it is. They got some shit going on. You happen to be coming past them, and now you're getting pulled in. And I hate that. And that's a lot of why I get that panic of, let's not. Like, let's not. Let's not. Let's not even let it escalate. Like, it. Yeah, he scared me. Yeah, it was weird. But let's just let it drop there. Cause how many people have you seen that are dead or in jail or whatever, and they're like all over a split second decision.
Francesca
Decision that they regret deep in that.
Dustin
They'Re gonna replay for the rest of their lives. I'd rather replay that. I don't know what happened than to replay. God forbid. My partner had chased them. They shot each other. Come on now, we gotta call nothing in.
Francesca
Instead, let's tap into our Asante bag and think about the other dimension. Let's replay his wheels flying off his car as he's going in the intersection. Replay that he gets hit from three sides. You know what I'm saying? That's what we need to think about.
Crash Bandicoot. And I hope you listen to this hoe. Let's cut some out that. I don't know, it just. I just felt like it had something to it. A car accident.
Asante
It doesn't.
Francesca
But, you know, but it worked. It worked, right? I'm good at it.
Asante
I know how to cut somebody a slice, stab.
Francesca
That's what I choose.
Dustin
I am gonna get a dash cam, though. Yeah, that's one thing that, that did inspire as well. Like, I'm like, I need to have a camera in the front, camera in the back. Whatever someone tried to say happened. Let's roll that beautiful bean footage.
Francesca
You know what I'm saying?
Dustin
Okay, friend, let's look at it. Well, I did what cool. But also that way I could have seen. Where did he start? Following me like I need data.
Francesca
I love that.
Dustin
That's how I started feeling last night. I totally understand dash cams. And I know people also do weird like, insurance scams where they like back up into you so it looked like you hit them. And I've seen that this is just a lot of shit with these drivers.
Asante
Boy people.
Dustin
And even draft one. Dude, I told y' all the other day, maybe last month or I don't know, it was a second ago. This dude, like, darts out on his bike, but he was like a junkie. And the way he did it, I know he was trying to get in a situation where I hit him, remember? Looked at him like, you fucking. But thank God my car once again has that psycho sensor that. Because he jumped out like that in the corner.
Asante
Your car said, hey, it's a dumb. In front of you.
Francesca
Asante. You know why I'm laughing? Don't you.
Think about the top of the show in Charlotte, what I was talking about. Don't say it because I'm using in Detroit.
Asante
I can't tell. Not your recycling. No, I'm just. That's the Motor City. So I'mma use it. You Know what I'm saying? In Detroit. But think about that joke or something.
Dustin
Everyone that was in Charlotte is laughing.
Asante
Cause I'm.
Francesca
God damn, I'm mad.
Asante
I remember.
Francesca
I can't believe you just said what you just said. But anyways.
Dustin
But that shit, he darted out so quick, it literally almost gave me whiplash. The way my car jerked. It was like. You know what I mean? I was like, what the fuck? And so that's how I'm saying I know I didn't do nothing.
Francesca
You know, he was a goddamn maniac psycho.
Dustin
Go, I'm so.
Francesca
And it's not your fault. And him with his dirty ass fingernail. Ha. I can tell he had dirty fingernails. Filthy car driving ass.
Dustin
I hate that he was black. That made me even, like, angrier because it's like, come on, brother, ain't that many of us out here, right?
Asante
Right?
Dustin
Don't be talking about.
Asante
That's why he really deserves some bad. Because, like, what the is your problem?
Dustin
Like, maybe a black woman? And that's. That's how you want to communicate. You could have just been like, yo, I think you did this.
Francesca
You could have been like, damn, why you cut me off? Whatever.
Dustin
There we go. Even though I still would have looked at you crazy for following me home, but I would have understood if you.
Francesca
Because that's the problem.
Commercial Voice
Why are you following.
Dustin
Somebody beat you. And I needed to, like, talk to you. I still would have been scared, but I would at least been like, okay, what is it that you think happened?
Asante
There's a way down the parking lot.
Francesca
Go ahead.
Asante
No, I was just about to say back to what you was fighting in the parking lot. It's. It's literally that mentality of what the. Do you want my. For him to imagine coming out of.
Francesca
Store and seeing a person waiting on you, a complete stranger, but you can tell they literally next to your car, leaning on theirs and start talking to you as you come out of the store. Mind you, I had bought a six pack of Coronas when I was in the store. Now, you know I swung that bag, don't you?
Dustin
Oh, my God.
Francesca
Swung the out that bag while we was fighting. Them bottles was busting while we was fighting. We was down there fighting by the rim too, because I remember I was. Yeah, I was trying to dig his ey out his face while I was fighting. I was.
Asante
I was.
Francesca
You see what I mean now?
Dustin
You see, you made me do this.
Francesca
It's like, what's the point of.
Asante
See, like, there was no point in him of doing that. Like, he could have just kept it moving. There was no point in that man. There was no point in that man following. But there was no point, like, for that man to just follow you just to yell. Like, I guess they just want people. People I understand, just want to be heard, felt whatever, talked to someone else. That ain't way to literally.
Dustin
That ain't the way to get cut off. I get cut off every.
Asante
But some people do have that road race. Like, some people do have that road race. But the fact that he was going through whatever the he was going through so bad, he didn't even know who he was supposed to be mad at. Like, sir, get help.
Francesca
Right?
Asante
That is so mad. You are just yelling at whoever you pass them by thinking that they did X, Y, or Z.
Francesca
Right foot, ass. Okay? I hope your foot gets stuck on the gas pedal, bitch.
Dustin
And you could tell he riding dirty, right? Because if I really did that, why didn't you stop so we could switch insurance information, right?
Francesca
Where the police at?
Dustin
Like, call the. You know what I mean? Why didn't you say you paying for this bitch, like, something?
Francesca
No, because you couldn't.
Dustin
You couldn't. And I realized that when he kept driving, I'm like, well, if he thinks I did that to his whip, why didn't he get my insurance information? We can make it a claim.
Francesca
That's all right. I hope his seat fall through the floor while he on the road.
Dustin
Y' all killing. Killing me.
Francesca
That's what I hope. That's what I hope happened. I hope you fall straight to that floor. You cut off by the rest of the car.
Dustin
We got to be careful out here, y'. All.
Asante
We do got to be careful.
Francesca
Make sure you pulling up to the right house. Cause we coming behind her part, too, so.
Yeah. Anyway, in lighter news, because I don't even want to talk about that. I love that purple in your hat. If there's anyone listening to this show, there's an item, actually two items that I want that I'm unable to secure on my own on I ain't help.
Dustin
What is it?
Francesca
Okay, I want. Do y' all remember them 90s surf style pullovers, right? It came in, like, an iridescent purple. Very similar to the purple color in your hat, friend. It's a windbreaker. Like a windbreaker pullover. It has the surf style logo in, like, neon yellow, lime green, a little orange and pink. You know what I'm saying? And it has a surf style logo.
Asante
On the sleeve, right? You could.
Francesca
It's very easily found. I want the pants I can't find it in an extra large new condition. And I need the pants, not the shorts. So I need some help. Anybody that's listening. It's not even expensive. I just want it. You know what I'm saying?
A windbreaker and the pants. Yup.
Dustin
I'm over here trying to.
Francesca
I want it.
Dustin
Nah, this can't. Is it this? This, this?
Francesca
Yes, but in purple. That's the windbreaker.
Dustin
But not that color.
Francesca
No, there's a. If you look at the. The colors, there's a purple, a. Oh, here we go. Here we go.
Dustin
It's this one.
Francesca
I need that. I need actually the shorts. I need everything. They don't have an extra large and they not stocking it. You know what I'm saying? So I need help.
Dustin
I see they only have the jacket.
Francesca
The pants and the shorts and the extra large and purple pleats.
Dustin
I've never heard of this brand.
Francesca
You don't remember that from like the.
Dustin
90S spring interplanetary body gear.
Francesca
Yeah, it's like surfer. And when I was in Miami for my show, I had a little free time before my show, right. Because I got there earlier in the day and I went down to south beach and went to four different surf style stores. Right?
Yeah. Yeah, it is.
Dustin
I knew you was gonna say, you.
Francesca
Know me so well, darling. And I'd have been like, I like your braids.
Dustin
Literally when I saw it.
Francesca
I didn't say that. You know me. Okay, look what they say, you know me. I don't need no introduction and okay anyway. But I need that in my life. I need purple extra large pullover pants and shirts.
Dustin
Have you checked grailed?
Asante
Nope.
Dustin
Check grailed.
Francesca
Okay, I will.
Dustin
Grailed to me is like where most of the dudes that have cutestyle be posting stuff for sale. For real. I've found a lot of cute like ALD and cute, like street style stuff. You should definitely find. Look there. This is cute though. I love the purple.
Francesca
And you see the pictures of like Russell Westbrook with it on and all them people like, it'd be so cute on me.
Dustin
Yeah, but you said you want the pants, not the shorts.
Francesca
Yeah, I actually want both.
Asante
Both like this because he did say, no, I want the short.
Francesca
See how that's two tone. I want. You want the whole thing.
Dustin
Purple got you.
Francesca
Yeah. Friend with some Air Max 95s.
Dustin
Oh my God. Oh, cute.
Francesca
And a white sock. Oh my God. Like, what is she talking about, man? Like my jewelry. I feel like that would really like, you know.
Dustin
That's very cute. I Could see that. Thank you.
Francesca
I knew you were.
Asante
Well, you know what?
Francesca
Cause y' all both like all them colors.
Asante
Yeah.
Dustin
I'll keep an eye out, too. Especially out here. I feel like that's some shit we do.
Francesca
Look what Aaliyah say, let me know.
Asante
Oh, my God.
Francesca
I need that, though.
Dustin
Didn't you say you had something you were gonna share with us? Remember we were about to record, and then Dustin was like, I did, but.
Asante
I have to put it on pause. You know, when I'm working on projects, the projects transform. They just keep doing different things.
Francesca
Things.
Asante
So I'm just gonna have to save that. Like.
Dustin
Oh, I thought it was, like, something you could share.
Asante
Yeah, no, it was, but it's not anymore, because somebody I was talking to about it, they are gonna help me with it now. So I'm just like, okay. So now I can.
Dustin
Oh, amen.
Francesca
Different things.
Asante
So.
Francesca
Yeah, you said it to the right person.
Commercial Voice
Yeah.
Asante
So. But it is 2026 is going to be a great year. There's going to be a lot of cool.
Dustin
I believe that. That.
Francesca
Me too.
Dustin
That would be really nice.
Francesca
One of the things that I'm gonna enjoy in 2026 is using my cast iron skillet. And guess what?
Thoroughly. Let's. Let's really get grown, right? I have been, when I say, finding joy in the process of seasoning my cast iron skillet. Let me tell you what you do, y'. All. So.
Dustin
So I have three. So I'm with you.
Francesca
So you already know. You hit. You cut that oven on 450 or 500, right? Let it get there. Don't even touch it. Turn around. You know what I'm saying? Start hand wash the skillet, you know, pat it dry. Then you take you some olive oil, get you a rubber glove. Put that bitch on massage.
Dustin
Put some oil in there. Massage.
Francesca
I'm talking about deep tissue, deep cast iron. Okay. You gotta give it a deep cast iron massage with that olive oil oil. Then you put it in your oven upside down and just let it sit in there for, like, an hour. I've been letting my sit in there for two hours, and then I just turn the oven off and let it. You have to let it.
Dustin
See the upside down trick. I did not know. Yeah, that's interesting.
Francesca
I got that from the YouTube.
Dustin
Oh, Jade. Jade has been my. My.
Cast iron mentor.
Francesca
I love her, but I've been enjoying this. Like, I'll be so proud of myself after it cools down and I'm able to touch it. It's really putting the Coating on there.
Dustin
And don't it make the food? It's just different. Like, it cooks it all the way through in such a nice way. It's so good. All we have is.
We have all clad, obviously, and then we have all cast iron in our Dutch oven. Like, we don't use any. We threw out all our other stuff and donated a lot of it too.
Francesca
I need that Le Creus. I need to stop.
Dustin
We have.
Francesca
I spend it on myself for other. Why on earth? Why am I not buying that cookware.
Dustin
Set that I'm going have and in that beautiful kitchen?
Francesca
Like, yeah, I need. I want the gray one too.
Dustin
Oh, I have the olive colored set.
Francesca
Beautiful.
Dustin
This looks so good in our kitchen. Yeah.
Francesca
My mama had. That's why I know what lake cruiset is. Cuz my mama had bought a peach set back in the day. I remember my daddy being mad because.
Dustin
Of how much she spent.
Francesca
She ain't give a fuck either. She bought the shit out that Le Creuset.
Dustin
Expensive, but it's so worth it. Like, I get it, I get it.
Francesca
I even want the butter dish.
Asante
Have you seen it?
Francesca
It's so cute. Like, they got. You need to get the olive green butter dish.
Dustin
I'm not the thing. No. And they have a. They actually have a Le Creuset outlet here.
Francesca
They have one in Woodbury Commons too?
Dustin
Yep, yep, they have one. And it was like, shocking to me. I'm like, well, why don't more people just go to the outlet? Cause you could really get it for 70% off. Off.
Francesca
And that's a lot of money when it comes to that.
Dustin
What? 70% off. It'll make it a regular price for the pan. And the lady was like, if we don't have the color, you just let us know and we'll put the order in. So really, you could get whatever you want.
Francesca
Let me tell y' all what happened to me the day before Thanksgiving.
Dustin
And the fact that you cook Thanksgiving, we need to hear about that because.
Asante
That'S how I got you.
Francesca
It's all relative, right? So because I was cooking, I needed another, like, stock pot, you know what I'm saying, to use on my stove. And I didn't realize it until the last minute.
Dustin
Mid cooking. Yeah.
Francesca
And so I was like. But then I was like, because, you know, everything closes early. But I was like, you know what my mother always told me? Like, if you need cookware, you can always go to like a TJ Maxx or home Goods, because they have, like, really good quality cookware for the low you know what I'm saying? Like, when you just need one specific. When you don't need a set, when you just need one specific item, you can get a good stainless steel, vital Viking stockpile. You know what I'm saying? Go there. So I'm like, you know what? Let me run to.
TJ Maxx on 125th, right?
Dustin
Having the things.
Francesca
So I went. I go to TJ Maxx on 125th.
I told Damon and my sister they was rolling. So I go to TJ Maxx on 125th. I'm in the back by, like, the pots and browsing, trying to pick the right pots.
Dustin
Pot.
Francesca
I was making greens. I needed. It had to be a certain size to accommodate smoked turkey. Next. Then the transfer of the greens, you know, greens cook down so that pot be full at first. You need a pot of a certain size when you haven't guessed, Y' all understand? So I'm trying to pick the right one back there, right? It's a lady. She like. It's. It's a lady. She like. Like a Spanish lady. She was short, real friendly, real nice. You know, we had spoke as I was browsing or whatever. Boom. She was, like, straightening some shit out. She had, like, the. The. You know, the coiled bracelet with the keys on it. I could tell she was in charge, right? So she was doing her thing. Manager, keys, yeah, Management. Yes, exactly. Tay. So, you know, the pots and shit is always in the back, like, by the back of the store, by kind of like by the stock room. So the doors to the stock room are the kind of, like, swing, like, saloon doors, you know what I'm saying? All of a sudden, as I'm looking at this pot, I hear them doors, like, bust open and somebody came out. I hear a older lady's voice.
I hear this older lady, like, see, we sick of this. This is exactly what the hell we talking about. Ain't no why.
Dustin
Why.
Francesca
Why you got these customers coming over here to us, and we didn't came.
Asante
In here to this?
Francesca
So this lady is, like, going, oh, off. Okay? I look up, and I realize she's talking to. Because she was talking about customers. And I realized she's talking to the lady that I had just had the friendly exchange with, right? So the lady is kind of still just doing what she was doing and saying, right? Kind of just letting the lady talk. So mind you, the lady is going to off. We didn't came in here World War 3. It's hell back here. And you got these customers coming up what the hell are we supposed do to. Right? Going off. So the Spanish lady is like, you know what? Don't even worry about this. So mind you, I kind of looked or whatever. And the late. The Spanish lady kind of looked at me. So she was like, you know what? Don't even worry about it. Just face the shelves, right? You know what I'm saying? And just face this section back here. I'm sorry, y' all came into that. I remember with facing shelves in. Because I worked in retail before, and that means, like, you know, lining up the. On the shelf. The lady tells you her we ain't facing. I ain't gonna face no show. You need to face the facts. That's what she thought.
Dustin
And you just standing there.
Francesca
I'm. I'm all the way tapped in. Like, the three of us are talking at this point, I'm standing in the conversation cracking up.
Dustin
That's always so awkward.
Francesca
So, like, she. She goes back. I hear the doors again, right? So I keep going around the lady. The other lady keep keeps going. Eventually, as I come around the section, I run back into the first lady, right? And she like. I kind of laugh or whatever. She kind of laughs. She was like. She always going off about something. You just let her talk. That's what she said.
When I tell you I was cracking the up. She was obviously a cool boss, you know what I'm saying? Because she got cussed out by that lady. It was an older lady. She had a short, real short, like a fade haircut. She was hilarious. And she cussed her the fuck out. So that's my day before Thanksgiving story about the pot.
Dustin
But did you get your pot?
Francesca
I got my pot and it worked out perfectly. All my food was delicious. I made. I baked lobster tails. I baked some shrimp, like some garlic shrimp.
Dustin
That sounds amazing.
Francesca
I baked some chicken for my friends. Like my friend Zach. It don't eat seafood. So I had baked chicken for him or whoever else want wanted it. Legs and thighs. Boneless, skinless thighs with onions and red, orange, and yellow bell peppers on top and down in some gravy. Like, that's how I baked it. Then I had the collard greens with smoked turkey next in them. Then I had.
Dustin
You can cook. Cook.
Francesca
Yeah. I like green beans. Personally, I don't give a about having two green vegetables. I love green beans.
Cut and, you know, prepare me some green beans, cook them down. I cook some bacon first and then put the green beans down in the fat and then put a little chicken broth and wire butter, you know. Salt and pepper.
Dustin
Boom.
Francesca
Onion powder. Hook them up. So I had lobster, shrimp, chicken, greens, green beans. Made a huge pan of homemade macaroni and cheese. I mashed some Yukon gold potatoes, a whole bunch of mashed potatoes from scratch. And then I made some cornbread in another cast iron skillet. Like a big batch of cornbread.
Dustin
All by yourself?
Francesca
All by myself, yeah. Well. Well, no. My. I had. My friends came over.
Dustin
No, no. I mean, you made all of those by yourself. That is so impressive. Men can manage a kitchen. To me, there's nothing cooler than that, because you gotta be able to handle that way. Moms gotta be able to handle it that way. Yeah.
Francesca
And they should, because you shouldn't be sitting up hungry, waiting on your partner. Partner, you know, most cases, waiting on the wife to cook. You know what I'm saying?
Dustin
Most cases, yeah. I think it's so great. That's.
Francesca
So my brother can cook his ass. My brother is actually a better cook than me. You know what I'm saying? But he can. He can get in there. My sister Daria is vicious in the kitchen.
Dustin
Is this because your parents, like, intentionally would teach y' all everything they knew? Like, she'd be like, come in the kitchen. Let me show you this. Let me show you that.
Francesca
Yep. She was proud of my meal. I sent her video, all my food. She told me I had done everything right. And I consulted with her and Dario on my macaroni and cheese and shit just to make sure my recipe was right and shit. Because I remembered it in my head. I don't follow, like, no book recipes for my shit. I just remember what. How they told me how to cook it, and I remembered the recipe, but I had made macaroni and cheese in a minute. When I tell you the first bite, them motherfuckers was in here like, d. What the fuck? Like, threw down. We smoked, drank, had a good time. We had a really good time, so.
Dustin
And it felt good.
Francesca
When people say your food is good. You know what I'm saying?
Dustin
Honestly, it's one of the highest compliments.
Francesca
Yeah.
Dustin
Cause you feel like, damn you over here. Like, let me find out.
Asante
You can cook better than Jade.
Francesca
Jade told me. You know what she said? I cook?
Dustin
Like, what she say you cook like.
Francesca
You know what she said I cook? Like, you always gotta cook it the way. You know what I'm saying? You know what she said? Cause I be like, I don't want no damn. Damn cranberry sauce. That's not. I. Let me just stop. She got a little school in the Real ghetto.
I don't have a white coat, you know what I'm saying? You're the only one in a white coat.
Asante
We don't need your French twists on your wrist. That's it.
Francesca
You know, that's it. We don't need everything. Don't have to be Bolognese. And you know what I'm saying? Like, come on, Dietrich be doing that too. Dietrich be making all kind.
Beef Wellingtons all kind of. I'll be like, dude, chick, what the.
Asante
You know, you feel like a chicken piccata every now and then from a.
Francesca
Restaurant, you know what I'm saying? If I come on your house, I want some fried chicken. Some, you know, y' all get it, friend, I want you to teach me some Dominican dishes too, please. I'm dead ass serious too.
Dustin
That some teach me how to make all that. And honestly, I told you too. That's one of the things that I'm like really focusing on, is really solidifying pretty much every Dominican meal I could possibly know. And then Puerto Rican as well. I'm not as well versed, unfortunately, in Haitian meals. That's another one that I want to learn how to make picklies and griot. You know, if anyone has some guidance, please send them our way.
Francesca
I am dead serious. Number one, I know you have your own recipes, but I remember when you had gotten that cookbook that had all them bomb ass Dominican recipes in it.
Dustin
Yes, absolutely.
Francesca
So let me know that book and then I'll come out there whatever the fuck you to teach me how to make. I want to learn how to cook that for real.
Dustin
I would love that. And we just, we just met an older Trinidadian lady this week and like, it was just an instant connection. You know, when you're just like, this is about to be my aunt. Like, I just, I was so happy. And we got into a conversation about oxtail.
Francesca
Yeah, yeah.
Dustin
Because I was telling her about the video. The video? Yeah, like where there was like, video.
Asante
I think I randomly watched that video.
Dustin
Jamaican one. Like, how detailed.
Asante
The Jamaican one was always going to be the best one to me.
Dustin
I'm sorry. At me too. I just like, I just knew it.
Asante
Was going to be the one.
Dustin

Asante. You did see it. And then they had the Dominican one with rich. I love my people. I'll eat Dominican oxtail. It just tastes very different. It's just like it's, it's. I mean it's also cooked differently. They use different seasonings. But the Jamaican one, that's the one that has my heart. But with the Trinidadian auntie, of course we were going back and forth about it because I don't really love the Trinidadian but I still want to eat it because it's a Caribbean auntie out here because they use sugar and, and they use different things that I feel like doesn't call to me the same way. No shade. I love you Trinidadians listening.
Asante
When I saw old boy throw that scotch bonnet in there, I was like, see, that's what I be needing.
Francesca
That's what I be needing.
Asante
And his like green sauce or whatever. Like watching them chop up all that and to see what goes in the Sauce before they put it in oxtails and stuff and how they cook it down. I was like, this is interesting.
Dustin
So good. And you saw the girl that I had highlighted her cookbook, Toni Chapman. She goes by the Moody Foodie. She was one of the people on there, too. So that was cool to see, and that was a pleasant surprise.
Asante
I need to make the connection.
Dustin
Yeah, she's up there, but, yeah, that's like, something I'm taking Barry.
That's something I think is so important. Like, the kids say, you know, we losing recipes, but it's like, literally.
Francesca
Literally, you should teach. We'll talk, I guess. Never mind.
Dustin
And even, like. Like, more natural ways of making certain beans. Like, you know, Dominicans, how we make red beans. I remember my grandma, she never used, like, seasoning in that way, like the way that we do, or you got five, 10 seasonings. She would use, like, potatoes, and it's not pumpkin. Is it, like, a squash? I think it's a squash.
Francesca
Squash, yeah.
Dustin
She would cut up the squash. You know, it was just very different how she cooked. And it tastes great without all the sodium and all these seasonings. And I think almost want to get back into the more traditional ways of making food, you know, because we modernized a lot of these recipes, too.
Francesca
I made some seafood nachos the other day.
Dustin
I love this. Dustin, this is so great.
Asante
You was talking about making them seafood. You remember? You remember?
Dustin
Wait, tell me what that means.
Francesca
You remember?
Dustin
What does that mean? Seafood nachos? What do you put in it?
Francesca
So the only thing I didn't make from scratch, right. Because it's serious, you know, the only thing I didn't make from scratch was the chips, because I just didn't have time. And I don't like frying stuff. It's just a personal thing. I don't like standing order.
Dustin
Then it makes your house smell.
Francesca
And I be feeling like I'm gonna get popped. I'm gonna break my face. Gonna break out. From not eating the fried food, from preparing the fried food.
Asante
Right? Right.
Francesca
Hell, no. Anyway, so I bought Tostitos chips. I just do a little seasoning on them, but I. I cut up. I diced an onion.
Asante
Right? Right.
Francesca
I diced a red bell pepper, a orange one, and a yellow one. I diced a green one, and I cooked all that down in a little white cooking wine and butter. Right. Then I added in some heavy cream. I added in some Parmesan cheese, and I added in some Monterey Jack cheese, and I added in some Gouda cheese. And you mix all that up and I seasoned it, right. I used just a little Laura Curries, some black pepper. I put a little onion powder in there and just seasoned it up right? Then I took some lobster tails, three of them, baked them. I took some shrimp, cleaned it, deveined it, cut the back. Because you have to clean both sides of shrimp, contrary to popular belief, child, but I. And that. That's time consuming. But I don't want to see no in my shrimp.
Dustin
I was saying, because that's the poop, right?
Francesca
You can see that. And that's natural.
Asante
You can see that.
Francesca
Don't cook it. If you're not. Not gonna do the work, don't do it. If you're not gonna do the work, what can. If you don't want to do it, don't do it.
Asante
So anyway, serve that to you at restaurants if you gotta look at that. Yes, yes. So not all of them, but sometimes I have sent back this and been like, that shrimp ain't clean.
Francesca
So I, I, I prepared the shrimp right, cleaned it up, cleaned it, cut it, cleaned out the veins, then wash it, rinse it, rub it in olive oil, season the shake shrimp, laid the lobster tails and the shrimp out on a cookie like a baking sheet. Bake and bake that. Got them out the oven, let them cool off, cut them up, and then I just literally laid the chips out, seasoned them, I heated them up because I like my chips warm when I eat nachos. So I heated them up a little bit, and then I put the, the shrimp and the lobster over the chips. And then I poured that queso mixture with the onions and peppers and sh. Over top of that. Voila. Seafood nachos.
Dustin
That sounds so good.
Asante
We was.
Francesca
Like, let's smoke it. I'm making seafood nachos. He was here in about 12 minutes.
Dustin
And so I know y' all smashed that.
Francesca
We watched everything. Bad. Cause I had to watch all that shit to talk about it. Love and marriage, Huntsville, all of that. So I was like, fuck it. I'mma have him come over while I do that. We was rolling. It was a great time.
Dustin
So wait, so quick question. When y' all talk about cleaning the shrimp, how do you do that?
Asante
That.
Francesca
So you take. You have to. I buy fresh shrimp. I don't buy, like, the, the ones that are frozen. Yeah. I buy fresh shrimp from the counter, right? So you take the shell off, I take the tail off. Then you cut the back. Usually they've already deveined them, quote, unquote. So one side is done, but you still have to look over it, because they'll leave stuff up in the top end or whatever, but you look, I lay the shrimp out and take a knife and cut it right down the middle, right down that vein. I have a glove on and a paper towel. Wipe it off, out, rinse it off, put it in there. And then I rinse all the shrimp again once I'm finished with all of them. So it's time consuming, but. Yeah, you know what I mean?
Dustin
Health.
Francesca
I mean, absolutely.
Asante
You know, all food. Y' all in the kitchen more than me because, you know, all food needs to be washed. Right. Shrimp is just one of those that just really. You gotta. You gotta make sure.
Dustin
Yeah. And I know there's a lot of discourse around whether cleaning food needs to be washed because it's already being cooked, but it. I think it also makes it taste different, personally. Yeah, it takes. It tastes different. I don't know.
Francesca
Yeah, well, it's gonna be washed over.
Dustin
Here and washing rice, too. That's another one. Oh, yeah, Wash. Get all that starch. Yeah, but it's like the water, it.
Asante
Should be cloudy as hell. That should be cloudy as hell.
Dustin
Eating that.
Francesca
I don't peel dirty potatoes. Like, when I'm making my mashed potatoes and stuff, I wash those potatoes first. You get all that off, and then I peel them. Because to me, when you peel a dirty potato, you dragging the dirt through the potato inside, Mama, putting it on the. You know what I'm saying?
Dustin
Yeah, yeah.
Francesca
You gotta wash that potato with a little soap, too. A little dish soap, some water. You wash some potatoes down, rinse them real good, and then you peel them.
Dustin
That reminds me of seeing the people online washing their meat with some dawn.
Asante
All over the chicken. I was like, oh, my God.
Francesca
All you need is a lemon and some vinegar.
Asante
If you get them yellow, the. The plate, washing gloves, like, what is going on?
Dustin
Just spreading E coli all through your dang kitchen.
Asante
Because in their mind, they're like, why you wash your hands with dish soap? So I'm gonna wash this chicken with the dish soap before we consume.
Francesca
How any of that works. You know what's fun to that? What's fun about that? That is, like, talking about people preparing food and fucked up ways with chefs. That's one of my favorite things to do. Like, if you got a friend that's a chef, call them over and watch People's Jade is one of the worst ones. Like, it'd be lethal. The shit. Oh, my God. What the fuck is this shit that they like? It's so funny.
Dustin
I Love her. She's the best. I regret. I tell her, I regret that I didn't spend more time in the kitchen with her. Oh, God. I mean, we didn't really have that type of time. Like, let's be real. But it's just like, dang. When you really know that your friends are like the chef, chef, chefs, you just. Jade is gifted because time with them.
Francesca
Jade was cooking like that before she went to culinary school. Before she.
Dustin
Absolutely. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Francesca
She's gifted in that kitchen. I make fun of everything. The only two things that I never, ever crack jokes about with Jade is her being a good mom and her being a good chef. For real. Because you can't touch her in them areas. I don't even fuck with her. But everything else, I talk about her, like, it's no limits, but just them two things. Cause she's an incredible fucking chef.
Dustin
Award winning chef. I tell her, like. And I still bother her about it now, but I'm like, people need. Need to see you in the kitchen. And then I remember I would go to her house. I don't know if y' all remember. We started the two shows.
Asante
Yeah.
Dustin
Where I was filming her cooking show at her house, and then she was doing the bartending show at my house. And we were on. It's on YouTube. You know what? If you didn't know that Jade had two shows that we start. We started. And I mean, really, it was all her. I just was helping as far as, like, the camera work, but she. I just kept trying to push her because I'm like, you need to be seen. She's so funny. She is great on camera. The camera loves Jade. She's a natural. We didn't script anything. It was just off the top of the dome. She would do a whole episode, like, and just know exactly how to walk you through everything. And it always turned out perfect. And I'm just like, what do we have to do? Girl, Girl.
Francesca
I'll be on her ass. She be getting so mad at me because I stay on her ass about that.
Dustin
Like, it's hard not to. So good. I see her on Netflix. I always tell her that 100, Food.
Francesca
Network, all of that. Jay needs a cooking show on Zeus if we really gonna keep. No, she needs to cook on Zoo so she can say what she want to say and slap her sous chef.
Dustin
No, no.
Asante
That's what she needs to be.
Dustin
I want a more elevated.
No, I want Jade to have a show on Netflix that has multiple seasons.
Francesca
Yes.
Dustin
Wouldn't that be so good? Maybe Some.
Asante
A line.
Francesca
Cookware line. You know what I'm saying? All that cookbooks. Yep, yep. The whole nine kitchens, restaurants, all of it. She even have chickens.
Asante
Jade's farm.
Dustin
I was hoping. I know y' all already know she's not moving out here, but when we were entertaining it, I was excited at the thought of the gaps that she would fill, food wise out here, because there are gaps. We've talked about it before, but she would make a killing. I'm talking about a killing out here.
Francesca
She will. She gonna do it. And she's gonna travel with her Sunday on a Monday series. Like she's gonna do it. Yeah. That's a show in and of itself. Those different parties, like, all those people coming and she. To me, being a chef, like, that's one of them, like, boundless careers to me, because it's so much. It's like being an attorney to me. Like, you know how when people get a law degree, you can literally do anything basically, in the world? Like, to me, that's how being a chef is. You can work in television. You can work in so many different avenues. You know what I'm saying? With what you do. Be a good author. Like, so much verticals.
Dustin
Yeah.
Francesca
Hell, Latasha Scott got a cookbook.
Dustin
Does she?
Francesca
Vegan.
Dustin
That, like, knocked the wind out of me.
Asante
You and me both. Double.
Francesca
Well, if you think about it, vegan food tracks for her because it's lying.
Asante
Oh, well, okay.
Francesca
Chick apostrophe. You know what I'm saying? Chicken.
Asante
It does track.
Francesca
Yeah. You know what I'm saying? All that kind of.
Asante
I can't stand that.
Francesca
I don't like.
Dustin
I don't like that.
Francesca
But it's called something Something. Latasha's Planet Based Lifestyle. I can't remember the rest of the title because it's long and stupid, but that's.
Asante
Just. Call it coated Mushroom. Whatever it is, don't call it.
Dustin
I never like that.
Asante
Perk. Prk or whatever the. I don't know. Just don't.
Dustin
Oh. When they put the fake bone right.
Francesca
And wrap it in rice paper. What the is this? This. This science we project in.
Dustin
What's the spot in Harlem? It's a good spot. Like, I'm not even trying to knock them 25th. Yeah, I can't. It's not going to come to me. But it's. It's like a dope spot, though. It's, like, run by the Rastas, and they have the juices in the front, and then you get the food. But I remember I took. I Remember, I took. This was years ago. Oh, my God. This had to be, like, a long time when I was eating there.
I took my partner at that time there, and he was, like, down to eating whatever.
Asante
Wait, okay.
Dustin
This was before he became a vegan. And he was like, what the fuck is this? Is this a bone? He was so confused.
Francesca
He was like, mine's just a popsicle steak.
Dustin
And it was a Popsicle. And he got so turned off and disgusted that he couldn't eat the rest of his food. Like, when I tell you. He literally looked at his appetite and was like. Like, I'm cool. And I was like, you can't be for real. He was like, what the.
Francesca
I've been trying.
Asante
Are you sitting there, his face trying to normalize and talking about. You can't be for real. It's a popsicle stick in the field.
Dustin
But I didn't understand why that would disgust someone. Like, weird.
Francesca
That's why. Chick apostrophe in or chicken with apostle with quotation marks around it.
Asante
I ain't going to lie. There was a place in the Bronx, their vegan food was so good. I mean, the Bronx in Brooklyn.
Dustin
I was gonna say a vegan spot. Bronx.
Asante
I was just playing. I was just.
Francesca
Oh, well, I went to a vegan spot in la, and I swear to God that was real me.
Dustin
Oh, LA had the best.
Asante
Nobody say, just like the place in Brooklyn, just like the place in Brooklyn, that it was jerk chicken, but it was chicken. And I ain't catch that until the second or third time I went. I was like, this chicken do taste a little funny because it was seasoned so well and everything was done so good. I was like, that chicken tastes a little funny. Like, the second or third time I went, and then I finally looked at me, and I was like, this is vegan. Oh, my God.
Dustin
I'm trying to remember. Hold on. My friend's stepmom.
What's her spot called? It's in. Is it going to say it? No. If y' all know Chef baby.
Chef Babette, she's a beautiful. I mean, when I tell you she's that older woman that you are, like, she's goals, like, that's why it's dope.
Francesca
Her name, Babette.
Dustin
That's a sexy lady name, ain't it? Chef Babette. That's my friend's stepmom. And she had. Why can't I remember the dang restaurant?
Francesca
Shout out to Chef Babette. I'm sure it's ringing the bell for you.
Dustin
Yeah, she's in. She's like in her 70s, 90s, but she has like muscles and like she'd be wearing her yoga clothes out. She's gold to me. Like that's how I want aloe. And yes, we're a head wrap. She's so fire.
Asante
She owned that on the west coast.
Dustin
Yeah, it's in Cali. It's in la.
Asante
Stuff I eat.
Dustin
There we go. Stuff I eat. Y' all have got to stop there next time you're there. It is such good food. I used to go there all the time. That's my friend's step.
Asante
Stepmom and Ron. In 2008, established by Ron and Babette Davis.
Dustin
Yeah, y' all know Brooke. Y' all know Brooke Dalot from J Davey. Yeah, that's his stepmom and that's his dad actually. Yeah, they opened it together and it's so good. He put me on. I was like, yo, this is some good ass vegan food.
Francesca
I'mma with it. I went on.
Dustin
So anytime.
Francesca
Y' all stop willing to be tolerant of the vegan food because it was a date.
Dustin
Wait, they took you in LA to a vegan?
Francesca
I was like this so la. And I was, you know, I was talking shit the whole time. He had just got a new car. It was real nice too.
Dustin
Was it good? Was the food good?
Francesca
Oh yeah. He said, yup, it was good. But we, it was fun too. He had like, I said he had a nice car. So that made the day fun. But we went to a vegan restaurant in LA and I, I literally didn't even. I was like, I was telling him, like, I ain't even gotta complain. I plan planned on talking shit the whole time. It was delicious. It just tasted like Chinese food. Everything.
Dustin
Yeah.
Francesca
Sauce and seasoning. I like mushrooms. Anyway, so I was all right with it.
Asante
Stuff I eat is on Inglewood, California. Yep, stuff I eat dot com. 114 North Market Street, Inglewood, California and it's fully black owned and they got a. They've got 4.7 on Google reviews.
Dustin
Oh, I believe it. Because that stuff is genuinely good. And it's been a long time.
Francesca
I want to go now.
Asante
I want some.
Dustin
And I think when you see her, when you see her, it's like inspiring, you know, because you're like, damn, this older lady looks so damn good.
Francesca
Like if you google her, I want what she's having.
Dustin
Yeah. Because she's, she's legit goals. That's what's up.
Francesca
I'm gonna definitely go.
Dustin
We were talking too about going back, right? Isn't she gorgeous.
Asante
She's fine.
Francesca
She's like, shout out to Chef Babette.
Dustin
Chef Babette. She. I was thinking entertaining too. Going back. Vegetarian or vegan?
Francesca
How many years has it been for.
Dustin
You that I stopped?
Francesca
Oh, yes.
Dustin
You see her?
Asante
Yes.
Francesca
Look right there. 70th birthday, folks.
Dustin
You hear what I'm saying to you?
Francesca
Look at that skin goals, baby. That's what it's about. Look at that young.
Dustin
Talk about being in your 70th birthday.
Francesca
I'll eat her food.
Yes. No wonder she got a man. Chef Babette.
Dustin
Yes. Yep. Look at her.
Francesca
I like, I like her already, friend, I'm telling you. And look at her with the vegetables.
Dustin
Look at the abs, though. Look at the abs.
Francesca
Chef Babette. You got it going on.
Dustin
Yep. I don't even know how long it's been now, cuz I switched when I moved here and we've been here five years and some change. So I'm going say what, four years maybe? Because I know it was four years.
Asante
Four years of meat eater.
Dustin
And it's been fine. And I'm like, but it's not a thing anymore where I'm like, oh, I could never go back. Like now I'm like, I could go back. It really. It's something that I think I feel flexible with. So I'm kind of feeling it out. I, you know, I don't feel like I'm less healthy or anything. I won't say that because, you know, some vegan people like it's a better life, but.
Francesca
Yeah. You was never like, like that.
Dustin
No, because I know the flex, cuz to me it's. You could be healthy. It's all about like how you're choosing to eat. Because there's a lot of shitty vegan food.
Asante
All right?
Dustin
A lot of processed vegan food. They're eating a bunch of fake meat that got mad sugar, mad salt.
Francesca
I know a lot of vegans that you wouldn't know unless they told you.
You know what I'm saying? And it was surprising to me. It don't, it don't always mean you healthy at, at all. And you were a person. You were instrumental in me being open minded to veganism and even being willing to go on that day because I could have said nah, you know what I'm saying? But I was willing to. Because you made vegans palatable. Before that, I thought they were moody and temperamental.
Dustin
But also because I would come out with y'. All.
Asante
Yeah.
Francesca
And make it happen.
Dustin
And I would just figure out, you know, on my end what I Could and couldn't eat. Which was challenging sometimes, but I was never like, oh, I can't eat there. Oh, I. I can't do that. Still. Have a blast.
Asante
We. We literally always were like, damn. Okay, well, what's on the menu that we think? Frank Franklin. Frank.
Dustin
Which I did appreciate. Y' all have always been so solid in our friendships where I was always considered. When we'd go to people, literally everyone would be like, okay, but what can Fran eat? What's Fran?
Asante
Cause it'd be like, all right, they only got two or three vegetables or some shit. Like, let's go somewhere. We not doing that.
Dustin
Yeah, yeah. Which I think is so sweet. I think that's always really sweet. But yeah, I don't know. I'm considering going back.
Asante
I'm thinking definitely you and P. Pinky, because.
Dustin
Oh.
Francesca
Shout out to Pinky, Happy birthday. Is today her birthday? Is it her birthday?
Asante
Let me see.
Francesca
Shout out to Pinky on a.
Dustin
On a show.
Francesca
She about to be on the Housewives of Atlanta.
Dustin
Oh, when is that?
Asante
Oh, it is her birthday. Well, it was her birthday on Monday. Happy birthday.
Dustin
Happy birthday, Pinky.
Francesca
Happy birthday, Pinky.
Asante
Hey. No, Pinky. You and her. Because just to Dustin's earlier point, she wasn't pink. She wasn't pushy about being vegan either. Like, I didn't even know she was vegan when I first met her because I met her at the Jamaican spot where she was cooking meat. But she kept seasoning. She was seasoning the food and she would have me taste it because she was like, oh, I can't taste it because I'm vegan. And I'll be like, what? And you be cooking? And she's like, huh? All the time. And so vegan was good. And so I was gonna say, so when she opened her restaurant, I was all in. I was like, well, I gotta see what this is about. And when I. I saw she was already in Atlanta, so I didn't get to taste her food and her truck just blew up. So then when I finally got to taste her food, I was like, I see why the truck blew up, girl. I see why she didn't made it because it's some good ass food and it's fun vegan food. It's not like it's like, I think certain vegan options are marketed like, we're vegan, so we're fresh and we're like a garden. It's like, well, I'm vegan, but I want to still feel like I'm eating good.
You remember how Long.
Francesca
That line was when we had a slutty vegan partner with us at our Pop up in Atlanta.
Asante
Yes.
Francesca
At our Atlanta show.
Dustin
Which also. What a cute idea. That was very cute.
Francesca
We should do it again.
Dustin
We should.
Asante
Okay. Yeah. Shout out to Pinky.
Dustin
I remember that because Claude and Chuck came up to the hotel room with their slutty vegan. Remember, they were vegan, too, at that point.
Francesca
Yeah.
Dustin
And they were scared to eat it. I was like, no, I promise, it's good. And then Chuck was like, you sure? The same meat.
Francesca
That's how good that is.
Asante
That's how good it was. Yeah. But friend. You. You were definitely like one of those vegan girls. But I always loved the fact that you were like. It wasn't. You weren't. You were never like. Your lifestyle. You had so many interesting things about you that it just made you interesting. It didn't make. It wasn't that you were stamped in that one thing. So it was.
Dustin
It wasn't an identity either. I never.
Asante
Yeah. You weren't always out being like, all right, well, make sure you're doing this, or are you gonna make that? Or like, you weren't doing that. You, like, you lived your life. You enjoyed life with us.
Francesca
Yeah.
Asante
And you lived literally by everything you were talking about, about. You just weren't trying to always make it a moment with everything.
Dustin
It's like you lived in part of veganism, especially. I'm not. I hate to say it, black vegans, they always want to, like, push an agenda. And it's like, I get it. You know, once you get caught up in that life and you start doing the research about food, and then you get real, like.
Francesca
Like people who just started going to church.
Dustin
Yeah. It's like you become really fanatical about this information. And I get it, because you do feel like, oh, my God, my life changed. I have to change everyone else's life, because my life really did change. Like, my health, y' all saw, I was in, like, the most amazing shape all the way through my mid-30s, tip top.
And it was like, really just. I've just always looked great, felt great. It was great. So I never. I felt like I wanted to be. For me, I realized what was more effective was being, like, an example of the lifestyle. You know what I'm saying?
Francesca
You are, honey, you do.
Dustin
People will be like, oh, you look great for this age. What do you do? And that's where you can share. But I hate being like, you gonna eat that?
Francesca
You never tried to convert anybody ever. And God Damn, I appreciated you for it. It made you cool. And that's what made people be so accommodating of you. You know what I'm saying?
Asante
You converted us by proxy.
Francesca
I told you vegans was not fun to people. I'm vegan. You know, don't nobody want to be around all that. Like, you made it fun. And now back to that song. We're just. For one second.
Asante
No.
Francesca
Okay. Oh, my goodness. Because why. Asante, this is. This is for you. This is specifically for you. Leave me out of it. N dog, listen, because I actually was f. To send it to you, and I got distracted. I got, like, a phone call, and. But when I saw it, I was gonna send it to you. So there's a song.
Asante
Who's.
Francesca
Who is that song?
Asante
That's Summer Walker. Summer. Summer Walker is Summer Walker featuring Lotto and Do.
Francesca
It's called Go Girl, right?
Asante
Yeah. New project. Go Girl.
Francesca
And so. And so there's all these videos of people, like, making. Making up one Fish two Fish lyrics to the song or whatever.
Dustin
Oh, that's.
Francesca
But Nene leaks. You know, she always posts, like, videos of her walking, showing off her outfit or whatever in Atlanta, and people be like, where's she going? Or whatever. So she posted a video with that song in the vega. Look good, feel right, whatever. And her makeup on her face was real light. So somebody on Twitter gonna say.
Face white, feet black. Cause her ankles and feet. Her ankles and feet in the shoe.
Asante
With her natural skin color.
Francesca
And Asante, when I seen that, I was about to send it to you, but I got this. I'm glad you got feet black.
Asante
That is terrible.
Dustin
Why are they doing that?
Francesca
Oh, my God. That had me about to pass out. I'm telling you. Y'.
Dustin
All.
Asante
Okay, friend, I'm gonna show you the Nene video.
Dustin
Oh, no. For those watching on Patre Experience.
Francesca
You got to see it, friend. She look good now. She look damn good.
Dustin
Is this from now or. They took a whole video.
Asante
This is Nene now because she likes to post these videos of her.
Francesca
She just be walking.
Asante
You're going to hear what they say in the song.
Francesca
I don't know. She just.
Asante
So this is the Instagram, you know, Nene, She's. She's out here. She's. She's showing you. She's a girl.
Dustin
Nene.
Asante
Look at her.
Dustin
So different.
Francesca
Yeah.
Dustin
Look, feel good, look great.
Shape like a number 8.
Titties real, look fake.
Francesca
Look at Nene.
She feels so good about herself, and I love that.
Asante
Yes.
Dustin
And she look good with the Cat suit. You hear me?
Francesca
Face wise, feet, feet black. That's what this was, what they was.
Asante
Talking about right here. If you hear the song friend, that's that.
Francesca
So that's why they said face white, feet black.
Hey, I thought about you.
Asante
That that video. That particular song is going viral just because of how, you know, people laughing at it.
Dustin
It don't sound.
Francesca
Oh, my God, though.
Dustin
I think it's.
Francesca
But what's funny is they make lyrics. Yeah, they be making lyrics up. I got. I'm have to find a post to send it to y', all, but they.
Asante
No, I got to show you the one I sent to Crystal.
Francesca
Did you see the JT one? If JT was on there, this boy was. Was rapping like jt. Oh, my God. Let me find it.
Asante
Go, girl. I like the. The song, but it has. Oh, I'm not even logged in on here. I like the song.
Dustin
Listen to the album.
Asante
I. I'm really. The album has high replay value for me, but y' all know how I am about Summer Walker, so I know that I'm bias.
Dustin
Yeah.
Asante
Yeah.
Dustin
I enjoy Summer Walker. I mean, I don't connect to a lot of the. The content. And then, I don't know. I got a little turned off when I saw that online. Yeah. That she was talking to. What's. Is it Tory Bricks?
Francesca
Yeah.
Dustin
She's like, essentially messing with someone's partner and was. Was like being my.
Asante
Get off.
Dustin
Yeah, it was weird. I don't like that.
Francesca
She told him in a message. She was like, you could just save. She was like, I can get a new phone for it. You can just save it in my phone. It's pizza. Save me in your phone. It's Pizza Hut. So then everybody started calling her Ms. Pizza Hut. And then she gonna put it in her bio. Ms. Pizza Hut.
Dustin
Oh, see?
Francesca
Ms. Pizza Hut.
Dustin
And it's all because she jaded, obviously, right over it, still over it, over it again. All the things. Things we seen, all the relationships. And I get it. Men are a lot. And they put you through a lot. And so I understand the bitterness, the jadedness, But I hate when you start, like, trying to hurt another woman. That's the part, like, you know, like, feel what you feel about men. That's one thing. But when you purposely don't care how it's affecting another woman, that's when it's.
Francesca
Like, girl, and don't fuck nobody, man. How about that? Especially when you've made album after. And you've made album after album about. You've made Album after album that has connected with a largely female audience. Right. Based on you sharing your plight as a woman who was mistreated in some relationship.
Dustin
Right, right.
Francesca
So then to turn around and be.
Dustin
And be a part of it.
Francesca
Yeah. Like, that's kind of. That's a lot. And I love her, and I love her music. She has a song now with Sailor. You know, the girl Sailor or whatever girl.
And I. And I like Sailor because I watched her in an interview, and they asked her about being an Asian woman singing R B. And the way she answered the question was so respectful. So it was just perfect and it wasn't fake. So I like her. But Summer Walker got a song with Sailor, and I like it.
Asante
You know, that's. That's one of the top. That's one of the top songs for me. Houseway. But I saw the interview that you're talking about Dustin. I agree. Like, she was talking about R B, and. And she's like. She. She was very understanding, but she was like, you know, I'm making the music that's real to me, and it's not to disrespect anybody. And, like, it was real. Like, I'm out the way, but it.
Francesca
Also was acknowledging, yes, I understand what space this is, and I respect the fact that I. That. That this is a black music space. And like, okay, just the way she answered it, it was dope. I just sent y' all a video to the group message about if JT was on Go Girl assignment. Can you please put it on the Summer Jam screen if you can? But this happy. This right here took me down, y'. All.
Dustin
Oh, God.
Francesca
This took me down, man. And there's been so many videos where people have been.
Asante
Put this on the Summer Jam screen.
Francesca
People have been rapping like other people as if they were rapping to that song.
Dustin
Right.
Francesca
The same cadence. It's just been so funny.
Dustin
Well, at least this is great marketing.
Asante
It is great marketing.
Francesca
Couldn't mouse she got three kids. You know what I'm saying?
Dustin
I want her music to sell twins, right?
Francesca
Twins and bubbles.
Dustin
Yeah, Bubbles. That's so cute.
Francesca
It is a cute name.
Asante
I sent Crystal this video, and she said this would totally be us.
Dustin
Navigate. Got thirsty. Hydrate, hold out. Ice skateboard.
Argument. Situate.
Christmas time decorating.
Hey, curls, hair straight.
Asante
So that would definitely be us.
That definitely would be us.
Francesca
Oh, my God.
Dustin
This would be. What was it? The green.
Francesca
The green experiment, which people still stop.
Dustin
Me about to this day in the green experiment.
Asante
Oh, my God.
Dustin
Oh. Oh, that's so Funny. Wait, what's the jt?
Francesca
It's so funny man.
Dustin
Oh, Go Girl. I wonder how Summer feels about this.
Asante
They've been doing jt. Somebody did Nicki Minaj or somebody if she was on Go Girl.
Francesca
It's so funny. Like so funny.
Asante
I just think that these tr. First of all these trends are hilarious. But I just had one thing that I wanted to talk about that I saw on Tik tok because these GoPro.
Francesca
We playing JT with. Hold on.
Asante
Okay, play it. Because you sent me a video to download, I gotta send it up here and I can't do that.
Francesca
All right, hold on, let me see. This is if JT was on Gold Girl by I am Trey Jerome. We love you.
Asante
How's mad?
Dustin
What's new?
Francesca
Still a city girl. That's a barking bowl. Make a house mad uncomfortable. Your house look uncomfortable.
Asante
They can with you, but they can't with you.
Francesca
I'm still that dad county.
Running out.
Asante
The stoves with them hitters.
Francesca
I was mad cause they can't get with a cardi. How many do he go Suck a dick. Still getting money in his bag Big.
Asante
He is literally referenced just like JT.
Francesca
Since she was on that.
Dustin
He had extra words though.
Francesca
Yes he did.
Asante
Because he was was really try. He was really trying to write. He was committed and guess who else would have been.
Francesca
But anyway. Okay, Stream. Never mind. Cuz I ain't got nothing to do with that rap beef. Let's just move on. I don't even want to invite Stream.
Asante
Summer Walker.
Francesca
Yes, Stream Summer Walker. Welcome to the friends.
Asante

Dustin
What were you going to say?
Asante
Or something on Tik Tok? Okay, do you all know what a CPN is?
Francesca
Yeah, it's like a fake social. Not. Well, it's another like social identifying number.
Dustin
Yeah, Google A Google search girl that did the skit.
Asante
It was a skit. What was the skit?
Francesca
What happened?
Dustin
Well, you tell the story Asante the.
Asante
Video that I started to watch on TikTok before I swiped away as I often do and then the algorithm brings it back up or someone's commentary on on set situation because it's actually a popular situation that I'm scrolling past. I see this video with all these views and it's this woman taking a phone call and it's saying when the leasing office calls you about your, your CPN not going through or some like that. And I was like, cpn as in like some scam. And so basically the woman from leasing office was saying, hey, your application for your apartment has been denied because we see that your information on here is incorrect. And you know, because you provided incorrect information, we have, we, we're not gonna be able to approve, you have to move out or whatever the, the situation was. So again, I scroll past the video. So I was like, oh, so it is some scam. So I, I swipe. Then I stopped on this one woman who was like laughing at this video and I didn't realize maybe that it was a skit, but she was laughing at the fact that this woman was putting herself on blast for having used using a cpn. Because she was like, she was like, why is it 2025 and I'm hearing the word CPN and I was like, yes girl, why is it. So that's why I stopped, because I had just heard it, because the algorithm, algorithm was bringing these things back to, back to me. So a cpn, for those of you listening that don't know what it is, it's short for Credit Privacy Number. For those of you listening, we are not a financial podcast. We cannot offer you advice on such. But a CPN is not legal. You should not be using them. So if you have a cpn, so.
Dustin
How do they exist? Like what is it?
Asante
I don't understand.
Cpn. Often a scam, often for a scammer back credit. I don't know how it exists. I don't know the histories on such. I just know that I hadn't heard the, the letters CPN and I don't know how many years. So the fact that this was a thing coming up in 2025, I was like, this can't be real.
Dustin
If it's illegal, then how did the leasing office say your CPN didn't go through? You know what I mean? Like because of it. Well, so that's what I'm trying to understand.
Asante
So that's the thing, I don't remember. So Credit Protection Number. Credit Privacy Number. A fraudulent nine digit number is sold as a way to get new credit by hiding bad history. But. But it's actually often a stolen Social Security number and using one is illegal. Considered a federal crime involving identity theft and can lead to serious penalties. This on Experian scammers mislead consumers into thinking a CPN can replace your ssn, but it cannot. And it's illegal to create a false identity with a cpn.
Dustin
What on on earth? I've heard people talking about it, but I never looked into, like, what it actually is.
Francesca
Don't you be glad when you don't know nothing about some. Yeah, ignorance is bullshit.
Asante
This is one of those things that I thought died. Like, I thought this was some that I heard, like coming out of my 20s, like coming into my 20s. Like, okay, like, what the was that? They're like, oh, this is scammable. Right? Like, so I thought these eras were over.
Dustin
Still alive and well. I told you. Somebody just tried to with one of my accounts years ago. They. They made fake payfriend checks. I was like, what?
Asante
Shout out to Atlanta is so funny. They may obtain SSNs by dubious means. I just thought that that was funny. Often from children, senior citizens or prison inmates.
Dustin
So yikes. See, I hadn't seen the original video that you talked about, but I saw people talking about it it right? And then I saw people being like, this shit's a skit. Like, it was fake. You know what?
Asante
It had to be a skit because it's like, why are you putting this on the Internet?
Dustin
Along with people put too much on the Internet. Regardless. Yeah, the skits is getting out of hands.
Francesca
And it's also for me personally, it doesn't entertain me in any way. I'm not entertained.
Asante
Again, swiped by the skits.
Has swiped. Swiped on by it thought I thought I dodged that bullet. But the commentary, this is why the skits have to go. Because the commentary around things that people think are real, sometimes that commentary is still funny because people. The way people react is always going to be funny.
Dustin
The comment section is the best part.
Asante
Well, the comment section. But even like the reply Tik Tok videos, sometimes there will be some really good or. Or people or people talking about what's going on on TikTok from their page. Like, it'll be some really funny on TikTok. Tick tock.
Francesca
Shout out to Ashley Miller. She's a popular YouTuber. I've talked about her before on the show and she with the friend Zone. But Ashley is all. She always very cool. Y' all need to. She's friend of her YouTube. Yeah, friend of the damn show. We with you, Ashley. I used to love when she would walk and talk to the camera. It'd be so good. But anyway.
She always tweets about Tik Tok mess. She'll always sweet. Like I saw this lady on Tick Tock who or this person found out their Cousin was going with their father and all this crap crazy. She always be like, sharing the tick tock. But, Ashley, darling, come here. You got to start putting a link with it, because I be wanting to know how to go to it. And you don't never add the link. So you got to tell the story and then add the link so we can go find this shit. We love you.
Dustin
Well, the new skits that have been aggregating for me, I don't know if y' all have seen it. Is the one where. And I've seen it four times. That's how I know that it's a skit. Because how are four different women going through the same thing? I'm like, come on. On now.
Asante
Oh, Lord.
Dustin
So the. It'll. The first one I saw, the wife saw that her husband was on Tinder. Someone sent her a screenshot. Your husband's on Tinder or one of the apps. She's like, okay. Starts a fake relationship with him. Goes back and forth for a while. She's like, playing the long con, you know? And then she. They agreed to go meet. Meet somewhere for the weekend, right? So he tells his real wife, like, oh, I have a business trip, or whatever the fuck he made up. She's kind of like, of course you do. He goes off. I think it was, like, in a different city and everything. She flies out, gets the hotel room first, and then when she opens the door, voila. It's your motherfucking wife. And he's standing there like. So when I first saw that one, I was like, oh, my God, that's great. Because it did seem real. They got me. But then I saw it three more times with three different girls in different cities, and that's something the same. The same story.
Francesca
Like, it's such a disappointing feeling when you figure out something like that. It's a skit.
Dustin
Especially when they do a good job.
Francesca
It's not fun. That. That is not entertaining to me.
Dustin
We're already dealing with AI that we don't know what we're seeing and what's real. Like, I saw a video of a dude at a courthouse, and he jumped up. Did y' all see that video? He, like, jumped up to the ceiling and then was like, what?
It looks.
Asante
No, the video. The AI video that got me. Because I've been doing a really good job of just being like, nope, AI trying, right?
Dustin
Yep.
Asante
But this one video of this woman, first of all, it looks like a. Oh, I'm so mad that I'm talking about it. And I know that it's not real. But you guys know that it's not real too. But I'm still embarrassed that I'm talking about it. It's a woman, she's like a baker and I guess she made a cat cake and then she's cutting the cat cake in half and her real cat is right there and then starts attacking her. But then like, there's a. It looks so dumb because as soon as she cuts the cat cake, like the knife disappears and then the cat goes into attack her and then her head disappeared too. It was. It was weird, but I was. Was like, what the just happened? What? What?
Francesca
What?
Asante
Because at first a lot of ladies, this woman. Oh God, please don't.
Francesca
No, it's a. And a. Got no thing going on the.
Dustin
And if you're arguing about EBT getting cut off at the market.
Francesca
Yeah, that is racist. You know what I'm saying? Like, that ain't nothing but some. That some racist made up to make videos of black people.
Dustin
So they troll black people online.
Asante
I. I did laugh when I seen this video, this robot falling over because Frank, it was. They were doing like a robot demonstration somewhere showing how the robot robot was autonomous, doing its own task. But right, like NEO because. But, but unlike neo, they were trying to say it's different because it was ready to run on its own until they saw the robot do this.
And then it fell back. So in my. So it looks like whoever was operating the robot was taking off their headset or some. And then the robot disconnected because the tweaked out and fell over. Somebody in the comments, somebody in the comments said not the robot. I never mind. I shouldn't say that. But they said not the robot.
They said not the robot pulled to Wendy Williams because the robot had to just like. That's why I said not the robot.
Francesca
Have you seen the video where they put the. Up to the television like she drank some or smelled something.
It'd be people watching that. It'll be a video of like a person watching a video. It'll be a video of a person watching the video of Wendy Williams falling out in that sexual liberty costume. And they'll walk up to the TV and like put like act like they're putting a drink to her lips or put poppers and under her nose and then she falls out.
Dustin
This is why the Internet was a mistake.
Francesca
Yeah, I seen that. The AI video I seen again, you seen that?
Asante
I seen the one.
Francesca
The AI video. I seen that me up. It was these people. They was like over somewhere looking over, like, a cliff. Right. With a rail. And like, it was a huge drop off of the cliff or whatever. And like, whatever. They were up on a mountain somewhere and it was raining and they had umbrellas, and it was like a monkey that had, like, flew into the frame and snatched one of the umbrellas and like.
Asante
Like.
Francesca
Like flew off the cliff or whatever. And it looked real as. But it was.
Dustin
My thing is, like, what are they writing as the prompts? No, but, like, what's the prompt that you wrote to get.
Asante
The prompts away?
Dustin
I just want to understand how this works. The one I saw was like a. And that's the other thing about it being racist, particularly against black women. Women. Because I saw one where it was like this big black woman on a.
Asante
Horse, on a motorcycle going down the street.
Dustin
Yes. Riding through the highway on the horse. And then she was, like, crashing into cars and jumping over car. It was so.
Francesca
Through traffic. Yeah, through traffic.
Dustin
You saw that one? And I was one that kept going around. And I'm just like, who is making these? It's like the little white boys. You can tell, right?
Francesca
And I want to get they ass soaked bad. I do. I do. For real. Because, like, you can't embarrass me verbally the way I can embarrass you. Yeah, you can't.
Asante
And.
Francesca
And it'll hurt your feelings because you're a computer. A hiding behind a computer somewhere that can't handle the real world.
Dustin
Right.
Francesca
And I hate that about those people who are responsible for. Are you responsible for this? I hate that about people who are responsible for this.
Dustin
There's no turning back, y'.
Francesca
All.
Dustin
There is no turning back.
Francesca
Back.
Dustin
Y' all are out.
This is crazy, y'. All. I just feel so old.
Francesca
Me too. And I'm sick of it.
Dustin
And now everything I watch, I'm, like, questioning what I'm looking at, if it's real. I'm like, damn, this is exactly what they wanted.
Asante
You know what Be taking me out. This is going to sound so stupid, but even on FaceTime, I don't know if it's on my new camera or whatever, but the way that the lens be kind of like blurring when I'm, like, looking at someone's face. Face. I'm like, I don't know if the computer is trying to eat your face or if I'm being. It just looks like I'm being fed your face.
Dustin
Exactly what you mean?
Asante
You know what I mean.
Dustin
Like.
Francesca
Like, I know that, like, outlined in.
Dustin
A way where it seems like they're Being projected onto the screen.
Asante
It's almost. It's almost as if the camera is, like, allowing for it to be hacked. Like. Like it looks like they could be AI. And I'm like, I don't like that.
Dustin
I know exactly what you mean. Like, thought it was just me. I'm like, no one notices how weird we look on FaceTime lately.
Francesca
What do you want? We're recording.
Asante
Look, man, if you recording, why do you answer?
Francesca
Go ahead.
I can't stand him.
Asante
He already hung up in his face. I can't stand him. But, yeah, the FaceTime, the way that people look on FaceTime now, it's like, this is. If someone were to hack this FaceTime call, I would notice.
Dustin
Yes.
Asante
And I don't like that. It looks like it could be vulnerable in that. That way.
Francesca
And is you a catfish?
That's what.
Dustin
I still have my. I still have my 12. Can y' all believe that you on FaceTime?
Francesca
No way, friend. When I tell you, unless. Unless, friends, FaceTime.
Dustin
You have face.
Francesca
Yeah.
Asante
Is it even on? Do you have.
Francesca
She ain't even with none of the icon.
Asante
I'm saying.
Francesca
Ain't gonna be none of that. Ain't gonna be no picture. A friend walking next to the childhood version of herself. Ain't gonna be none of that. That from France House.
Dustin
Oh, my God. I still have the 12. I might upgrade, but, I mean, my phone is fine. That's the thing. Like, and there's nothing wrong with it. My calls go through, my texts go through my face.
Asante
Honestly, friend, just stay where you at.
Dustin
Because I do like the camera. That's the only thing. When I've been seeing people's content that they shoot and film with the 17. It's the 17, right, that they're up. I'm like, wow. Wow, that looks so clear.
Asante
That zoom ain't no joke. Like, when I was at the One Music festival and I was zooming in, I could zoom all the way in. I was like, damn, I'm already right here. I don't even need to zoom in like this. But, like, damn.
Dustin
Yeah. That's the own. Literally the only thing that's making me reconsider. But otherwise, I'm good with my 12.
Asante
I understand if it ain't broke till.
Dustin
The wheels fall off. I do that with all my electronics. Same with my laptop. I saw that they have the new laptops. They're dropping. They look so nice. But my laptop works.
Francesca
Mine does, too. But I ain't even gonna hold you. I want a new one.
Asante
I'm terrible. That that is. That is the one thing. Like the phone. I actually waited a couple. A couple of years before I upgraded my phone. But the laptop. I feel like I always get a new laptop.
Dustin
I wait till mine bricks out. I got 2018. I got this. So it's. It's still good. Literally, no issues. But also, I don't mix worlds with my laptop. Like, this is my work laptop. I don't have nothing. I don't watch movies. Like, I don't do none of that. This is for.
Asante
And that's why I'm over.
Dustin
That's why it lasts. Yeah.
Francesca
Just like a work baby. I don't play them games.
Dustin
I think that's what makes it last longer. I do want to get an imac, though. That's something I am going to get from myself next year.
Asante
I just want to see that.
Dustin
The.
Asante
I. Yeah. Because they. So they sell the. Like, just the monitor. So that way I could, like, plug my laptop into it. The only problem is when you do that, you know, when you plug your laptop in the monitors and you close it, you ain't got a camera no more. But on the actual monitors, they do have the. They used to call it eyesight. I guess they call it just the front face cam now. I don't know. But they have them. So I want one.
Francesca
If my laptop closed, how am I type?
Asante
I've got wireless keyboard. I got wireless keyboard, mouse, all that. Because sometimes, like, just typing on, like, a laptop and the monitor be up there. It's kind of like.
Francesca
Yeah.
Asante
And I got the screen here, right?
Dustin
Screens, yeah. Oh, that's so interesting. Getting the monitor.
Asante
Yes. And then. And then docking the laptop. And then it's all interesting. Everything stays in one place just in case you got to travel. So it's like, damn, I left it on my imac. It's like, oh, I could just get it off my icloud or whatever the. But it's like, easier that way to kind of like take your work.
Francesca
Work with you.
Dustin
You got me thinking about that. Because I think that's cool. I'm gonna reconsider. I' ma see, because I definitely just want an imac. I just think it's nice. Especially while we, like when you produce an episode and you want to have your research up on the side. Like, I like that right now I have, like, my iPad and it's fine, but sometimes it's like too many tabs.
Asante
Yeah.
Dustin
It's too small. I'm like, swiping this way. I'm like, why am I doing all that? I could just imac.
Francesca
Damask. I want to be like, okay.
Dustin
Like.
Francesca
Like Shaniqua or Shekinah.
Asante
Shekinah. Somebody told me the Oculus. Somebody told me I need to get back on the Oculus. They said it has a bunch of updates. I forgot. If you're listening and you're one of the listeners that says that, send me a note or send me some. I. I read that somewhere. They were like, I know y' all haven't been on the Oculus in a minute, but check it out. And I was like, all right.
Dustin
Oh, wait a minute. Let me know. Because mine is dusty.
Never use it. I'm talking about never.
Asante
Look, you gotta pull out them alcohol wip.
Francesca
Yeah.
Asante
Wipe that down. Get some lens wipes. Put it back on your head. Like, you know. But I'm gonna check that out. I only thought about that because Dustin was talking about some. I want some Damascus. I was like, I do too. Oh, I do have a little fake ass tether already. But.
Dustin
But, yeah, I'm gonna see what the updates could be. That would be interesting because, I mean, I thought it was gonna be a lot cooler when I bought it. I don't know what I thought I was gonna.
Asante
And I've seen. I've seen a lot of people join meta. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
Dustin
Oh, and then the. Can we talk about the meta Ray Bans?
I hate it. I. I keep passing people, and I'm like, ew. Because you just know. You were in their video. Whatever the. They're filming.
Asante
I ain't gonna lie. I would. I would take a pair of those. I would just be good with them. I mean, it's something interesting about, like, let's say you out at the park and you're like, oh, it's so beautiful outside. You just want to take, like, a night. Nice picture of the day because you see that. Or if you're at the museum and you just want to take. It's easy to just, like, do a little something like that. Like, for that, I'm not a. I don't need to record footage of people walking and be like, walk through today. Like, I'm. I'm not doing none of that. No way. But just thinking back back, your iPad and all that stuff, and even now with the meta of the glasses, the other cool thing about having the desktop is you're able to, like, swipe different things away. Like, so let's say you have your laptop docked and your screen is big enough, but you still want to like, control something from a screen. You can, like, use the iPad as an extended screen, too. And I know, like, the metaglasses, I don't know the gesturing on that stuff yet, but I think that stuff like that is kind of cool. Like, when you just need, like, that additional resource of.
Just of getting something done without the. The, like, heavy, heavy hardware, if you will. Because, like, that's the one thing about the Oculus, you know, you got to hold those two things. So something kind of cool about just having the glasses being able to gesture or whatever.
Francesca
Yeah. But now you can't fuck nobody that wears glasses.
Dustin
You know, I saw girls giving each other tips on Twitter this week, and I was like, damn, this is really where we're at. Where a girl was like, if you're with a dude and, you know, you guys start getting into it, make sure, like, the glasses are off or they have to be facing down. Down.
Talk.
Francesca
Nobody with glasses on no more. Yeah, I like nerds.
Dustin
Or if you hooking up with someone in the club, you know, whatever people got going on, it's like, just be mindful that he could be recording the whole interaction.
Francesca
And wait till it gets Google contacts. We gonna be like, what the I'm gonna do now? Oh, everybody gotta with their eyes.
Asante
Ray ban. If you're listening, you need to come up with a gesture. You need to come up with a gesture for people walking by, like, on the other side of the lens that can. Can just be like, you know, blur me out or something. Yeah, we have some lace. Leave me out of it. And then that shit just like, removes your shit.
Dustin
Yeah, or some kind of jacket that makes you invisible to certain lenses, baby.
Francesca
The outcome of them glasses is already written in the name. Ray, what bands they gonna be banned in? Banned in the usa.
Dustin
I'm telling you, seeing them in the gym is a trip. Cause you're work. Like, why are you working out with sunglasses? But then you realize, like, all those are the. The meta joints they're working. You know, they're filming their workouts, which makes sense, but it's just silly. It's like, wow, we are really in a crazy technological age.
Asante
Mariah Carey gotta update her song. If it's some glasses up in, they gonna leave one up and hit one.
Dustin
Anything else y' all want to tell the peoples before we get up out of here for the. The week?
Asante
No, this is.
Francesca
Guys, love you all.
Asante
We hope you all are having a good holiday season so far. Yeah, it's a cold time. It can be a lonely time for some true Use this time to keep others warm, if possible, or keep yourself warm. Leaving others alone is also a great way to stay protected as well, because you got to bundle up. But if you can help others, help. And if helping others means staying out the way, stay out out the way. If helping others means going out there and doing something nice and beautiful and wonderful for people, do your big one.
Dustin
We love you. Be safe, too. As y' all see, there's a lot of wild energy outside right now. Be careful. Keep your head on a swivel. Absolutely. All of us.
Asante
Oh, she's safe now.
Francesca

Asante

Dustin

Asante

Dustin

Francesca
Nope, he don't.

Aired: December 10, 2025 | Hosts: Dustin Ross, Hey Fran Hey (Francesca), Assanté | Loud Speakers Network
This week on The Friend Zone, hosts Dustin, Francesca, and Assanté kick off with laughs and end with deeper reflections, blending their signature mix of pop culture, personal stories, humor, and practical wisdom. The conversation covers the recent trend of celebrities—including Busta Rhymes—being trolled in public, personal encounters with road rage and safety, nostalgic fashion wishes, holiday cooking traditions, navigating veganism, skepticism about social media “skits,” and the rapidly changing world of AI and tech. The Friend Zone crew stays real and relatable, advocating for self-protection, community, and a dose of old-school common sense in increasingly wild times.
