Everybody knows Miami, Art Basel, celebrities everywhere, art events everywhere. People are actually, what I love about Art Basel is that even though it's one of those weekends, people actually go and buy art. People actually go and go to the art shows. Like they're actively participating in the intention of the weekend. So that makes me feel good as a. That everyone. To lose the soul. I'm getting old. I'm that age. Anyway, so Buster Rhymes was down there at Art Basel or whatever. He was going in some video in some party, shout out to the neighborhood, talk. We love y' all at the neighborhood.

But they posted a video of Buster Rhymes walking in this party and this white boy, this white streamer, like, approached him. Right, right. You know, and that. We gonna get to that. But he approached Busta Rhymes and said, hey, what's up, Tracy Morgan?

He looked like he was about 15, you know what I'm saying? Like, young, nigga, whatever. I'm gonna play y' all just a little bit of the audio of what happened when Busta Rhymes. When that boy.

And then she hit his ass. Grabbed his ass.

Physically, he looks uncomfortable. He's been dyeing his hair. That's got to be, you know, stressed out, stressing him out, you know what I'm saying? The jewelry is always too tight. He always looks stiff. Busta Rhymes feet hurt all the time. You can look at his feet and tell that they hurt. He's tired of walking. Busta Rhyme's a man of a certain age, you know, so all this bullshit, people coming up to him with bullshit at playing games and joking and shit. Buster rhyme's a 50 something year old black man.

He's one of them black celebrities that I don't really think a lot of people talk about the fact that we protect Tracy Martin, we protect Tracy Morgan, okay? All these and still good. It was still magic. Like at one point, like Busta's rapping and then Spliff is like turning him down. So the Buster gets quiet and then he turns it back up. It was cute.

I was like, okay, they still got.

I mean, think about it is Busta Rhymes was one of those unforgettable rappers. Right? He wasn't just rapping. He rapped in a way that was unique, you know what I'm saying? His voice, his tone of voice, the cadence, looks. Yes.

They wore costumes. They had full out productions and videos and back then, all them Hype Williams videos. And everybody remember. Yeah, don't, don't, don't.

That's how you get sick.

I had a. A weird ass experience that still has me, like, a little bit unsettled. I was.

I was driving. I went to the supermarket to go grab some stuff that we needed. And when I come back, I'm getting out the car in front of the house and I go to close the door, and I see that a car comes and slows down in front of me. I guess they've been following me. I didn't realize. And that's scary, right? Because it's your house.

[Francesca]

Yes. You're alone.

[Dustin]

You don't know why he slowed down like that. I see it's a dude and he's cursing me the fuck out. I'm talking about. He's like, you fucking bitch. Like, yelling, visibly enraged. Imagine me, I'm confused because I'm like, what is he. What just happened? Completely oblivious. I also see, like, a part of his bumper is hanging, but I know I didn't hit him because my car has the sensor. Remember I told y', all, you can't do anything with my car nearing anything without it doing that full stop. And, you know, then it starts going like it would be virtually impossible. But he's, like, wiling out, cursing. And then my heart drops because I'm like, is he about to get. You know, you don't know, like, the rage that people feel. I'm in front of my house. Like, it was just so unsettling. He did drive past and just keep going, but the whole time I was just like.

And still don't know what he was.

Talking about and still have no clue. That's the part that I couldn't relax about because it was like I was. Two things were freaking me out that I didn't notice I was being followed. I'm someone that always has my head on a swivel. So that was super confusing because I was like, damn. I don't like. Yeah, like, how long was it where.

Like, feeling like you got caught slipping I get it. Yeah.

You know what I mean? And we've talked about this before, right? Where we've had a conversation off the record, of just those feelings where you're just like, what the fuck just happened? Did not like that. All so unsettling. I barely could sleep. Because then you start thinking, are they coming back? Like, what is. What was the. What was the rage and made him, like, take it to the point where he felt like he needed to follow me home.

I already don't know what the fuck happened. The last thing I need is to put you in the middle of some crazy shit with some crazy person. But I will say this. You know, you guys know how I've been, like, uncomfortable with the idea of guns, And I'm just, like, trying to make myself feel comfortable and be like, these are things I need to do. And it's just the reality we live in for some reason. Last night, all that changed.

You also grew up in New York, and so you're. You're used to engaging with people in close spaces, like, whatever. Those sort of interactions work differently in suburban communities and other cities where mass transit is not a thing like that.

Something happened to me, I'm gonna do this like that. And right now, everybody's so amped up anyway that people are doing dumb shit like that. That nothing even happened. But whatever in his. His mind took place. Yeah, he decided to go there. I' ma follow her home and say how I feel type, you know what I'm saying? He was eager and excited to have a confrontation with someone. It sounds like to me when you go that far to follow somebody home.

I'm talking about deep tissue, deep cast iron. Okay. You gotta give it a deep cast iron massage with that olive oil oil. Then you put it in your oven upside down and just let it sit in there for, like, an hour. I've been letting my sit in there for two hours, and then I just turn the oven off and let it. You have to let it.

It's all relative, right? So because I was cooking, I needed another, like, stock pot, you know what I'm saying, to use on my stove. And I didn't realize it until the last minute.

And so I was like. But then I was like, because, you know, everything closes early. But I was like, you know what my mother always told me? Like, if you need cookware, you can always go to like a TJ Maxx or home Goods, because they have, like, really good quality cookware for the low you know what I'm saying? Like, when you just need one specific. When you don't need a set, when you just need one specific item, you can get a good stainless steel, vital Viking stockpile. You know what I'm saying? Go there. I was making greens. I needed. It had to be a certain size to accommodate smoked turkey. Next. Then the transfer of the greens, you know, greens cook down so that pot be full at first. You need a pot of a certain size when you haven't guessed, Y' all understand? So I'm trying to pick the right one back there, right? It's a lady. She like. It's. It's a lady. She like. Like a Spanish lady. She was short, real friendly, real nice. You know, we had spoke as I was browsing or whatever. Boom. She was, like, straightening some shit out. She had, like, the. The. You know, the coiled bracelet with the keys on it. I could tell she was in charge, right? So she was doing her thing. Manager, keys, yeah, Management. Yes, exactly. Tay. So, you know, the pots and shit is always in the back, like, by the back of the store, by kind of like by the stock room. So the doors to the stock room are the kind of, like, swing, like, saloon doors, you know what I'm saying? All of a sudden, as I'm looking at this pot, I hear them doors, like, bust open and somebody came out. I hear a older lady's voice.

I hear this older lady, like, see, we sick of this. This is exactly what the hell we talking about. Ain't no why.

Why you got these customers coming over here to us, and we didn't came.

So this lady is, like, going, oh, off. Okay? I look up, and I realize she's talking to. Because she was talking about customers. And I realized she's talking to the lady that I had just had the friendly exchange with, right? So the lady is kind of still just doing what she was doing and saying, right? Kind of just letting the lady talk. So mind you, the lady is going to off. We didn't came in here World War 3. It's hell back here. And you got these customers coming up what the hell are we supposed do to. Right? Going off. So the Spanish lady is like, you know what? Don't even worry about this. So mind you, I kind of looked or whatever. And the late. The Spanish lady kind of looked at me. So she was like, you know what? Don't even worry about it. Just face the shelves, right? You know what I'm saying? And just face this section back here. I'm sorry, y' all came into that. I remember with facing shelves in. Because I worked in retail before, and that means, like, you know, lining up the. On the shelf. The lady tells you her we ain't facing. I ain't gonna face no show. You need to face the facts. That's what she thought.

And you just standing there.

[Francesca]

I'm. I'm all the way tapped in. Like, the three of us are talking at this point, I'm standing in the conversation cracking up.

[Dustin]

That's always so awkward.

[Francesca]

So, like, she. She goes back. I hear the doors again, right? So I keep going around the lady. The other lady keep keeps going. Eventually, as I come around the section, I run back into the first lady, right? And she like. I kind of laugh or whatever. She kind of laughs. She was like. She always going off about something. You just let her talk. That's what she said.

When I tell you I was cracking the up. She was obviously a cool boss, you know what I'm saying? Because she got cussed out by that lady. It was an older lady. She had a short, real short, like a fade haircut. She was hilarious. And she cussed her the fuck out. So that's my day before Thanksgiving story about the pot.

But did you get your pot?

[Francesca]

I got my pot and it worked out perfectly. All my food was delicious. I made. I baked lobster tails. I baked some shrimp, like some garlic shrimp.

[Dustin]

That sounds amazing.

[Francesca]

I baked some chicken for my friends. Like my friend Zach. It don't eat seafood. So I had baked chicken for him or whoever else want wanted it. Legs and thighs. Boneless, skinless thighs with onions and red, orange, and yellow bell peppers on top and down in some gravy. Like, that's how I baked it. Then I had the collard greens with smoked turkey next in them. Then I had.

[Dustin]

You can cook. Cook.

Yeah. I like green beans. Personally, I don't give a about having two green vegetables. I love green beans.

Cut and, you know, prepare me some green beans, cook them down. I cook some bacon first and then put the green beans down in the fat and then put a little chicken broth and wire butter, you know. Salt and pepper.

[Dustin]

Boom.

[Francesca]

Onion powder. Hook them up. So I had lobster, shrimp, chicken, greens, green beans. Made a huge pan of homemade macaroni and cheese. I mashed some Yukon gold potatoes, a whole bunch of mashed potatoes from scratch. And then I made some cornbread in another cast iron skillet. Like a big batch of cornbread.

[Dustin]

All by yourself?

[Francesca]

All by myself, yeah. Well. Well, no. My. I had. My friends came over.

[Dustin]

No, no. I mean, you made all of those by yourself. That is so impressive. Men can manage a kitchen. To me, there's nothing cooler than that, because you gotta be able to handle that way. Moms gotta be able to handle it that way. Yeah.

And they should, because you shouldn't be sitting up hungry, waiting on your partner. Partner, you know, most cases, waiting on the wife to cook. You know what I'm saying?

Most cases, yeah. I think it's so great. That's.

So my brother can cook his ass. My brother is actually a better cook than me. You know what I'm saying? But he can. He can get in there. My sister Daria is vicious in the kitchen.

Yep. She was proud of my meal. I sent her video, all my food. She told me I had done everything right. And I consulted with her and Dario on my macaroni and cheese and shit just to make sure my recipe was right and shit. Because I remembered it in my head. I don't follow, like, no book recipes for my shit. I just remember what. How they told me how to cook it, and I remembered the recipe, but I had made macaroni and cheese in a minute. When I tell you the first bite, them motherfuckers was in here like, d. What the fuck? Like, threw down. We smoked, drank, had a good time. We had a really good time, so.

That's one of the things that I'm like really focusing on, is really solidifying pretty much every Dominican meal I could possibly know. And then Puerto Rican as well. I'm not as well versed, unfortunately, in Haitian meals. That's another one that I want to learn how to make picklies and griot. You know, if anyone has some guidance, please send them our way.

So good. And you saw the girl that I had highlighted her cookbook, Toni Chapman. She goes by the Moody Foodie. She was one of the people on there, too. So that was cool to see, and that was a pleasant surprise.

Yeah, she's up there, but, yeah, that's like, something I'm taking Barry.

That's something I think is so important. Like, the kids say, you know, we losing recipes, but it's like, literally.

And even, like. Like, more natural ways of making certain beans. Like, you know, Dominicans, how we make red beans. I remember my grandma, she never used, like, seasoning in that way, like the way that we do, or you got five, 10 seasonings. She would use, like, potatoes, and it's not pumpkin. Is it, like, a squash? I think it's a squash.

Squash, yeah.

She would cut up the squash. You know, it was just very different how she cooked. And it tastes great without all the sodium and all these seasonings. And I think almost want to get back into the more traditional ways of making food, you know, because we modernized a lot of these recipes, too.

I made some seafood nachos the other day.

So the only thing I didn't make from scratch, right. Because it's serious, you know, the only thing I didn't make from scratch was the chips, because I just didn't have time. And I don't like frying stuff. It's just a personal thing. I don't like standing order.

[Dustin]

Then it makes your house smell.

[Francesca]

And I be feeling like I'm gonna get popped. I'm gonna break my face. Gonna break out. From not eating the fried food, from preparing the fried food.

Right? Right.

[Francesca]

Hell, no. Anyway, so I bought Tostitos chips. I just do a little seasoning on them, but I. I cut up. I diced an onion.

[Asante]

Right? Right.

[Francesca]

I diced a red bell pepper, a orange one, and a yellow one. I diced a green one, and I cooked all that down in a little white cooking wine and butter. Right. Then I added in some heavy cream. I added in some Parmesan cheese, and I added in some Monterey Jack cheese, and I added in some Gouda cheese. And you mix all that up and I seasoned it, right. I used just a little Laura Curries, some black pepper. I put a little onion powder in there and just seasoned it up right? Then I took some lobster tails, three of them, baked them. I took some shrimp, cleaned it, deveined it, cut the back. Because you have to clean both sides of shrimp, contrary to popular belief, child, but I. And that. That's time consuming. But I don't want to see no in my shrimp.

[Dustin]

I was saying, because that's the poop, right?

[Francesca]

You can see that. And that's natural.

[Asante]

[Francesca]

Don't cook it. If you're not. Not gonna do the work, don't do it. If you're not gonna do the work, what can. If you don't want to do it, don't do it.

So anyway, serve that to you at restaurants if you gotta look at that. Yes, yes. So not all of them, but sometimes I have sent back this and been like, that shrimp ain't clean.

[Francesca]

So I, I, I prepared the shrimp right, cleaned it up, cleaned it, cut it, cleaned out the veins, then wash it, rinse it, rub it in olive oil, season the shake shrimp, laid the lobster tails and the shrimp out on a cookie like a baking sheet. Bake and bake that. Got them out the oven, let them cool off, cut them up, and then I just literally laid the chips out, seasoned them, I heated them up because I like my chips warm when I eat nachos. So I heated them up a little bit, and then I put the, the shrimp and the lobster over the chips. And then I poured that queso mixture with the onions and peppers and sh. Over top of that. Voila. Seafood nachos.

That sounds so good.

Like, let's smoke it. I'm making seafood nachos. He was here in about 12 minutes.

And so I know y' all smashed that.

We watched everything. Bad. Cause I had to watch all that shit to talk about it. Love and marriage, Huntsville, all of that. So I was like, fuck it. I'mma have him come over while I do that. We was rolling. It was a great time.

So wait, so quick question. When y' all talk about cleaning the shrimp, how do you do that?

[Asante]

That.

So you take. You have to. I buy fresh shrimp. I don't buy, like, the, the ones that are frozen. Yeah. I buy fresh shrimp from the counter, right? So you take the shell off, I take the tail off. Then you cut the back. Usually they've already deveined them, quote, unquote. So one side is done, but you still have to look over it, because they'll leave stuff up in the top end or whatever, but you look, I lay the shrimp out and take a knife and cut it right down the middle, right down that vein. I have a glove on and a paper towel. Wipe it off, out, rinse it off, put it in there. And then I rinse all the shrimp again once I'm finished with all of them. So it's time consuming, but. Yeah, you know what I mean?

I mean, absolutely.

You know, all food. Y' all in the kitchen more than me because, you know, all food needs to be washed. Right. Shrimp is just one of those that just really. You gotta. You gotta make sure.

Yeah. And I know there's a lot of discourse around whether cleaning food needs to be washed because it's already being cooked, but it. I think it also makes it taste different, personally. Yeah, it takes. It tastes different. I don't know.

[Francesca]

Yeah, well, it's gonna be washed over.

Here and washing rice, too. That's another one. Oh, yeah, Wash. Get all that starch. Yeah, but it's like the water, it.

I don't peel dirty potatoes. Like, when I'm making my mashed potatoes and stuff, I wash those potatoes first. You get all that off, and then I peel them. Because to me, when you peel a dirty potato, you dragging the dirt through the potato inside, Mama, putting it on the. You know what I'm saying?

[Dustin]

Yeah, yeah.

[Francesca]

You gotta wash that potato with a little soap, too. A little dish soap, some water. You wash some potatoes down, rinse them real good, and then you peel them.

That reminds me of seeing the people online washing their meat with some dawn.

All over the chicken. I was like, oh, my God.

All you need is a lemon and some vinegar.

How any of that works. You know what's fun to that? What's fun about that? That is, like, talking about people preparing food and fucked up ways with chefs. That's one of my favorite things to do. Like, if you got a friend that's a chef, call them over and watch People's Jade is one of the worst ones. Like, it'd be lethal. The shit. Oh, my God. What the fuck is this shit that they like? It's so funny.

I Love her. She's the best. I regret. I tell her, I regret that I didn't spend more time in the kitchen with her. Oh, God. I mean, we didn't really have that type of time. Like, let's be real. I saw she was already in Atlanta, so I didn't get to taste her food and her truck just blew up. So then when I finally got to taste her food, I was like, I see why the truck blew up, girl. I see why she didn't made it because it's some good ass food and it's fun vegan food. It's not like it's like, I think certain vegan options are marketed like, we're vegan, so we're fresh and we're like a garden. It's like, well, I'm vegan, but I want to still feel like I'm eating good.

Yeah. It's like you become really fanatical about this information. And I get it, because you do feel like, oh, my God, my life changed. I have to change everyone else's life, because my life really did change. Like, my health, y' all saw, I was in, like, the most amazing shape all the way through my mid-30s, tip top.

And it was like, really just. I've just always looked great, felt great. It was great. So I never. I felt like I wanted to be. For me, I realized what was more effective was being, like, an example of the lifestyle. You know what I'm saying?

And I was like, cpn as in like some scam. And so basically the woman from leasing office was saying, hey, your application for your apartment has been denied because we see that your information on here is incorrect. And you know, because you provided incorrect information, we have, we, we're not gonna be able to approve, you have to move out or whatever the, the situation was. So again, I scroll past the video. So I was like, oh, so it is some scam. So I, I swipe. Then I stopped on this one woman who was like laughing at this video and I didn't realize maybe that it was a skit, but she was laughing at the fact that this woman was putting herself on blast for having used using a cpn. Because she was like, she was like, why is it 2025 and I'm hearing the word CPN and I was like, yes girl, why is it. So that's why I stopped, because I had just heard it, because the algorithm, algorithm was bringing these things back to, back to me. So a cpn, for those of you listening that don't know what it is, it's short for Credit Privacy Number. For those of you listening, we are not a financial podcast. We cannot offer you advice on such. This on Experian scammers mislead consumers into thinking a CPN can replace your ssn, but it cannot. And it's illegal to create a false identity with a cpn.

I've got wireless keyboard. I got wireless keyboard, mouse, all that. Because sometimes, like, just typing on, like, a laptop and the monitor be up there. It's kind of like.

And I got the screen here, right?

Screens, yeah. Oh, that's so interesting. Getting the monitor.

Yes. And then. And then docking the laptop. And then it's all interesting. Everything stays in one place just in case you got to travel. So it's like, damn, I left it on my imac. It's like, oh, I could just get it off my icloud or whatever the. But it's like, easier that way to kind of like take your work.

You got me thinking about that. Because I think that's cool. I'm gonna reconsider. I' ma see, because I definitely just want an imac. I just think it's nice. Especially while we, like when you produce an episode and you want to have your research up on the side. Like, I like that right now I have, like, my iPad and it's fine, but sometimes it's like too many tabs.

But, yeah, I'm gonna see what the updates could be. That would be interesting because, I mean, I thought it was gonna be a lot cooler when I bought it. I don't know what I thought I was gonna.

And I've seen. I've seen a lot of people join meta. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Oh, and then the. Can we talk about the meta Ray Bans?

I hate it. I. I keep passing people, and I'm like, ew. Because you just know. You were in their video. Whatever the. They're filming.

I ain't gonna lie. I would. I would take a pair of those. I would just be good with them. I mean, it's something interesting about, like, let's say you out at the park and you're like, oh, it's so beautiful outside. You just want to take, like, a night. Nice picture of the day because you see that. Or if you're at the museum and you just want to take. It's easy to just, like, do a little something like that. Like, for that, I'm not a. I don't need to record footage of people walking and be like, walk through today. Like, I'm. I'm not doing none of that. No way. But just thinking back back, your iPad and all that stuff, and even now with the meta of the glasses, the other cool thing about having the desktop is you're able to, like, swipe different things away. Like, so let's say you have your laptop docked and your screen is big enough, but you still want to like, control something from a screen. You can, like, use the iPad as an extended screen, too. And I know, like, the metaglasses, I don't know the gesturing on that stuff yet, but I think that stuff like that is kind of cool. Like, when you just need, like, that additional resource of.

Just of getting something done without the. The, like, heavy, heavy hardware, if you will. Because, like, that's the one thing about the Oculus, you know, you got to hold those two things. So something kind of cool about just having the glasses being able to gesture or whatever.

[Francesca]

Yeah. But now you can't fuck nobody that wears glasses.

[Dustin]

You know, I saw girls giving each other tips on Twitter this week, and I was like, damn, this is really where we're at. Where a girl was like, if you're with a dude and, you know, you guys start getting into it, make sure, like, the glasses are off or they have to be facing down. Down.

Or if you hooking up with someone in the club, you know, whatever people got going on, it's like, just be mindful that he could be recording the whole interaction.

I'm telling you, seeing them in the gym is a trip. Cause you're work. Like, why are you working out with sunglasses? But then you realize, like, all those are the. The meta joints they're working. You know, they're filming their workouts, which makes sense, but it's just silly. It's like, wow, we are really in a crazy technological age.
