From creation onward, the Spirit forms, fills, orders, empowers, and brings life. The same Spirit who hovered over the waters, filled Bezalel with wisdom, rested upon leaders and prophets, and empowered God’s servants is the Spirit poured out upon the Church. Reviewing Sessions 1 and 2, this teaching traces the Spirit’s forming and filling work through the vision of Ezekiel’s valley of dry bones. In Ezekiel 37, scattered bones are first brought together and formed into a body, yet the body remains lifeless until the breath of God enters it.The vision reveals that divine formation without divine filling is incomplete. God does not just assemble a people; He breathes His life into them. Ezekiel also prophesied that God would cleanse His people, give them a new heart and a new spirit, and place His own Spirit within them. In the New Covenant, this promise becomes a reality. Through the death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus, the Spirit forms believers into the body of Christ and fills that body with the presence, character, power, and life of God. The Church is therefore more than an organization or gathering. In this session, we trace the Spirit’s work through the Old Testament as the breath of life, the fire of holiness, the giver of wisdom, the source of prophetic speech, and the promise of restoration. Through Genesis, Numbers, Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Joel, we see how the Spirit gives life, empowers leadership, purifies hearts, awakens prophetic witness, and prepares the way for the outpouring of the Spirit through Jesus Christ.This teaching also explores why holiness and power must remain together.
