Judy Lipson was one of three sisters, a role that shaped her identity forever. At just 25, she lost her younger sister Jane in a tragic accident. Nine years later, she lost her older sister Margie after a long battle with anorexia and bulimia.

Losing both sisters left a void that words couldn’t fill. For 30 years, Judy suppressed her grief, pushing forward, caring for others, and avoiding the pain that never truly left.

Until one day, she chose to face it.

Through skating, a sport she once shared with her sisters, Judy found her way back to them. What started as healing became purpose, leading her to create Celebration of Sisters, an annual ice-skating fundraiser honoring Margie and Jane while giving back to Massachusetts General Hospital.

Today, Judy shares her story to remind others: You don’t have to carry grief alone. And it is never too late to begin.
