My guest for The Happy Hour #340 is Tracy Foster. Tracy Foster is co-founder and Executive Director of START | Stand Together and Rethink Technology which brings parents and community leaders together to develop "digital health" for raising kids with healthy screen habits. Tracy has SO much knowledge around this topic that is so helpful to me as a mom of four. I’m so thankful she is sharing her wisdom with us today. In this episode, she talks about how to navigate digital health during COVID-19, being a safe place for your kids to talk to about harmful images, and practical steps to protect children from the dangers of pornography. The difficult thing about technology is that it’s a great tool when used well, but it can also be a harmful obstacle. Tracy says “For most of our kids, their screens are probably at risk of being the biggest things standing in the way of themselves actually achieving the goals that they care about most in life.” For the full summary and links to the show, click the link below! My guest for The Happy Hour # 302 is Gena Thomas. Gena is a writer, a faith wrestler, a wife, and a mom. She and her husband, Andrew, have been married for 11 years and they have two children, an 8-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl. Gena has published two books, A Smoldering Wick: Igniting Missions Work with Sustainable Practices and Separated by the Border: A Birth Mother, a Foster Mother, and a Migrant Child's 3,000-Mile Journey. You guys, I have been eager for Gena to be a guest on The Happy Hour since I read her book, Separated by the Border. I originally read the book before my trip to the border last year with Tess Clark and the women of Welcome and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since. Today’s conversation with Gena is so rich and I’m really grateful for her time. In this episode, we talk about lament as a spiritual discipline, her time as a missionary in Mexico, and her unique path to fostering her daughter from Honduras. Gena also shares about the policies that directly affect families at the border and the action she and other women are taking to influence legislative change. I hope this conversation was as encouraging and enlightening for you as it was for me. We can learn so much through proximity and listening to others' stories. As we enter this new decade, I thought it would be fun to talk to a few friends and reflect back on what life was like 10 years ago. In these conversations, you’ll hear guests speak about what God has done in their life, dreams, goals, things they would have differently, and things they’re most proud of. And, looking back always causes me to look forward, so we’ll also chat about dreams for the next ten years! Today, I'm so happy to welcome Erin H. Moon to chat with us about her last decade. Erin is the COO of the Popcast Media group, the resident Bible scholar for the Bible Binge, a wife, and a momma. Erin shares how in 2010 she was pregnant with her first baby and also struggling with feeling like "burnt bacon" with church. Erin talks about God sustaining her personal faith as she walked through this time of burn out, and how she ultimately found a nourishing church experience in a different denomination. You'll also get to hear how the last ten years brought about a career change she never could have imagined! My guest for The Happy Hour # 209 is Jenna Kutcher. Jenna walked away from her corporate office job with nothing more than a camera from Craigslist, and turned that investment into a 7-figure photography and education business. Jenna also runs and hosts the Goal Digger Podcast, an authentic, business-focused show that caters towards women entrepreneurs. Her biggest passion is to invest in entrepreneurs so that they have the tools to authentically grow their businesses. On today's show Jenna shares with us how she bought a camera, claimed her new title of "wedding photographer", and pursued her dream to spend her time doing what her heart valued. Jenna dispels the myth that work and passions can't align, and encourages us to find what inspires and energizes us and go after it! If you don't follow Jenna on Instagram, you should. Jenna has beautiful pictures that aren't just a highlight reel, but walks through the ups, downs, and everything in between! Jenna tells us why she decided to post pictures that show her in real life and how she hopes to encourage women to embrace and love who they are, just as they are. In the last part of the show, Jenna opens up about her walk through infertility, miscarriages, and her current pregnancy. Jenna describes the anger she felt after the miscarriages and how she realized her need to surrender and trust God. I think we can all think of a situation where you "knew there was a bigger plan, but it's sometimes hard to believe" amidst the circumstances. I loved my conversation today with Jenna and her encouragement to pursue what we value, embrace who we are, and to surrender and trust God! My guest for The Happy Hour # 200 is my all-time favorite guest on The Happy Hour, my husband Aaron Ivey. Friends, I cannot believe that The Happy Hour is celebrating its 200th episode!!! I want to thank each and every one of you for listening, sharing the show, joining us in Book Club or Happy Hour Live, and supporting If You Only Knew. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm honored and humbled to be able to share so many women's stories. These stories made us laugh and cry -- sometimes at the same time! -- and have encouraged, inspired, and most importantly pointed us to the Gospel. On today's show Aaron and I share some favorite moments from The Happy Hour. We hear a little bit from twelve different episodes and we get to talk about everything from the single life, married life, kids, how men and women look at approval, diversity, creativity, and more. I would have loved to share clips from every single episode, but if you want to catch up on any shows you missed, maybe a Happy Hour podcast binge is in order! Thank you again to each and everyone of you for listening, sharing your stories, giving feedback, and building this community. I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart and here's to the next 200 shows! Connect with Jamie Facebook // Twitter // Instagram // YouTube GET ALL THE LINKS FROM THE SHOW HERE!

My guest for The Happy Hour # 190 is Jackie Hill Perry. Jackie is a writer and artist whose work has been featured on such publications as the Washington Times and The 700 Club. Since being saved from a lifestyle of homosexuality, she has been compelled to use her speaking and teaching gifts to share the light of the gospel of God as authentically as she can. She is signed to Humble Beast Records and released her debut album, The Art of Joy, in 2014. At home, she is a wife to Preston and Mommy to Eden. For two years I've been working on getting Jackie on the show, and I am so excited to share our conversation with you today. On today's episode we cover some challenging topics: racial issues and homosexuality. I know these topics can bring us into uncomfortable or tense spaces, but I believe talking about hard issues is valuable and important, and my hope is that we can all be listeners and learners in these spaces. Jackie and I begin the show talking about gospel diversity and the power of indifference. She describes how we can gain knowledge about the issues, but not take that knowledge and change how we live out our lives. The perspective she gives about the impact of indifference and inaction is powerful. In the second half of the show, Jackie shares her story of how she was living a life of homosexuality and how God pursued her and saved her in a way only God could. You are going to love hearing her talk about how her public ministry began just FIVE months after she decided to follow Jesus - her first public testimony was all because she wanted a free t-shirt! You guys, Jackie is bold and she speaks some powerful truths. When I asked her if she was afraid to fail, she said "Either I trust God or I don't... If I fall, then I fall and I get up and trust God some more". For the full summary and links to the show, click the link below! My guest for The Happy Hour # 181 is Jennifer Allwood. Jennifer is a wife, a mother and a creative turned business coach. She is “Facebook famous” according to her teenage boys with over 300K followers on that platform and she teaches women how to create a beautiful home and build a creative business. If you have been feeling God nudge you to do something new but you've felt afraid or uncertain, then this show is for you. No matter what stage of life you're in, I know you're going to be encouraged by our conversation today to get out there and use your giftings. Jennifer and I begin the show by discussing the joys and challenges of raising teenage boys including the new freedom she's loving with having a teenager in the house that can drive. Jennifer then shares how she transformed her painting business to a successful online platform. Through this shift, Jennifer has been able to reach an even broader audience than before, and she now also coaches thousands of women on how to maximize their talents through social media. She shares some of her tips with us and I know that I learned some things today that I'll be implementing ASAP! What I loved most about our conversation today was her encouragement for all of us. She reminds us that we all share the feeling of being afraid, but that doesn't release us from our calling. God has given us giftings and He has equipped us to use them, so don't let fear stop you when you feel him giving you a nudge! My guest for The Happy Hour #170 is Tricia Goyer. Tricia is a USA Today best-selling author of 70 books, a wife, mom of 10, and host of her podcast Walk It Out. Tricia lives near Little Rock, Arkansas where she leads a teen mom support group. Tricia and I cover just about everything today. We talk about abortion, teen pregnancy, how she had a 2-week-old baby on her first date with her husband (!!!!), adoption, mothering 10 kids, writing an unbelievable amount of books, feeding 11 people every day and somehow managing all of it with a lot of grace. Finally, we talk about how easy it is to believe that our experiences and sin define us and disqualify us, but Tricia has been so faithful to use her experiences with abortion and teen pregnancy to now minister to other women in similar circumstances. My guest for Happy Hour #90 is the very beautiful Lauren Chandler. Lauren is a momma of three kids and wife to Matt Chandler, the lead pastor at The Village Church and President of Acts 29 Network. She recently released her first book: Steadfast Love. I am nearly half way through reading it and loving it so much. On the show, Lauren shares how she and Matt met while she was a camper at a camp at which Matt was speaking. She insists that it's a little less interesting than it sounds, but I will let you decide. Either way, it's fun to imagine how cute those two were back then. Lauren shares her journey with Celebrate Recovery, a biblical program that aims to help people overcome their hurts, hang-ups and habits. She tells about how difficult it was to get over the fear of losing people's approval and admitting that she was a sinner in need of a savior to redeem every part of her story. Lauren is now a huge advocate and supporter of recovery ministries. Lastly, Lauren and I talk about what it was like to learn that her husband was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Many of you, like me, may have heard bits and pieces of their story or have read their story, but I think you will love hearing Lauren's perspective and how the Lord used the events to confirm God as sustainer in their lives. They have a powerful story and I am so thankful that Lauren is being faithful to share. {You can listen to the show HERE. And of course, I would love if you would share with your friends.
