I remember along my journey, I had somebody tell me that, you know, Julie, as you continue to grow and you meet these milestones, you're going to outgrow a lot of people. And I remember thinking one, yes, I'm going to have to outgrow a lot of people, but I'm going to have to first outgrow that version of myself. Welcome to the Influencer podcast. I'm your host, Julie Solomon. If you found yourself here, it means you are ready to unleash the powerful visionary that lives inside you, turning you into an authentic leader who creates influence, impact and change.
B
Let's get started.
A
Hi, Sam. It's so good to have you on the podcast.
B
Hi. I know, so excited to be here. Thanks for having me. I.
A
Yes. And thank you so much for coming. And I know you just had me on your podcast, Makeshift Happen, and it was such a joy to have the conversation with you over there. So for my podcast listeners, you may know Sam, you may know her podcast, Makeshift Happen. You may be like, oh, this is a fun collaboration that they're doing, but if you don't, I'm so excited to introduce you to Sam today. And so I'm going to just let you share your light and share your brilliance. Sam, you have a really interesting story of how you really stepped into what your brilliance and what your genius is with coaching women through mindset development and really a lot of those energetic blocks and limiting beliefs and everything that can kind of get in our way. And I know that you do a lot on the strategy side as well, but I think that where your genius really lies is kind of bringing that spirituality into the business and the mindset piece. So I would love for you to share a little bit about how you got into the self development coaching world and really what you love to root into when it comes to your community and your clients.
B
Yeah. So when, when I think about, like the start of my journey, I always think about the butterfly effect, which I know has been kind of a trend on social media of people sharing these different things that are their butterfly effect, you know, but like it's this idea of that the journey of transformation and the journey of your future and where you'll end up really starts with some of the smallest kind of decisions that you make today. Whether it's a big decision, a tiny decision, something that kind of seems non consequential or nonsensical, like at the time maybe it seems so small, but ultimately can end up rippling out and creating this huge impact and journey for your life. And I definitely resonate with that because of how I got to where I am today. Really started, like, so far, if I really go back to my butterfly effect was like, I'm in sixth grade and the teacher is like, okay, next year you're going to have to study a foreign language. Like, you have to choose which one it's going to be. And so I get this piece of paper on my desk that's like, rank in order, which languages you want to study. And I can choose between Spanish, French, or Latin. And my older brother tells me Spanish is the easiest. Just go for that. So I pick Spanish as my top preference. I get my preference, I start learning Spanish, and so along, you know, my life. Studying Spanish actually became the thing that really led me to where I am today, ultimately, because I got pretty good at it and I continued to study in college. I minored in Spanish for business, and that's what took me to Spain to study abroad. I always wanted to travel, and I didn't really grow up in a travel family. We were like a road trip kind of family. You know, we didn't do the. The big, like, international trips to, you know, Italy in the summer or anything like that. So I was like, this is my chance, my golden ticket. I'm going to study abroad. It's going to make sense for my parents because, like, I need it for my degree, right? You got to let me go. So I. I studied abroad in Madrid, and I lived with a host family, and I immersed myself in the language and the culture. And I thought, you know, in the spirit of really having an immersive experience, why don't I also get on a dating app and see what happens while I'm here. And so that was how I ultimately met my partner, who I'm still with today over a decade later. Just really wanting to have fun and live my life to the fullest and have some experiences. But ultimately, you know, through that discovering that that relationship was something that we wanted to attempt to maintain long term. We did a year of long distance after I left my study abroad and returned to school to finish my degree. But that was the thing that really made me decide to decline my corporate job offers and move back to Spain. So it was a defining kind of line in the sand moment for me where I, for the first time, probably at least in the biggest way in my life, really chose me. You know, I chose myself over what other people's opinions would be of that decision. I chose myself over what was going to make sense financially because I wasn't going to be earning any money living in Spain, being an English teacher, I chose me over all of it. And I packed my life into two suitcases and I told my parents, I'm really sorry, but I will be leaving now. And I went off and I, I ended up living in Spain for six. And while I was there was when I really found a deeper understanding of myself. And that's how my path opened to personal development was being dropped into a foreign country. You know, I have this, this man that I love who I'm following. But I also am there because I didn't feel like I had enough of a reason to not go, if that makes sense. Like, I wasn't sure enough about my career path or what I wanted to do to make me stay in, in the States and take my job offers and move to Chicago. So I really had this like blank slate of like, who am I? Who do I want to be? Like, what is life about? I also was going through a lot of stuff in terms of like body image and wanting to really fall back in love with myself and gain confidence again. And yeah, I just went on this, this path of learning deep inner work. I started taking courses for the first time ever. You know, I hope how we all do something open up. We take one course, we read one book, and then, you know, the journey begins and down the rabbit hole you go. And so that was my entry point. And so over the years of while I was living in Spain, I got really good at mastering my own mindset, my own self concept, shifting my identity, changing my perspective of the world, adopting more of an abundance mindset. All these things that started really changing my life and radically changing the results that I was getting and my happiness and my fulfillment and my joy. And I wanted to share that naturally with other people. So I started blogging. I created a blog called Samantha Daily, which is why that's not my actual name, but it is the brand name now just kind of stuck. And so I just learned that, yeah, I know, I always get that. I'm always. People always like, that's not your name. That's crazy. But yeah, that's where it started because it was just meant to be like daily motivation, daily inspiration, daily tips. I was doing like recipes, smoothies, like the most random stuff. Now looking back on it, because now primarily, you know, the work that I do is rooted in helping female entrepreneurs grow and scale their businesses and master their messaging. But that's where it all began for me really, of just, just genuinely wanting to share and pass the baton back and help other women rise up to see a greater potential for their lives and their future, and to wake up every day feeling really happy and joyful and fulfilled. I think that's the biggest gift that any of us could have on this earth is the joy of opening your eyes in the morning and being excited about what lies in front of you and not feeling a sense of dread, because I have been in those situations. I think we all have at certain points in our life of, you know, really open your eyes and dreading what's in front of you. And to me now, that's like my worst nightmare. I never want to feel that way again, and I don't want anyone else to. And so that's a big part of, you know, helping women even build freedom. Businesses and all the things that we're doing to bring financial freedom and wealth and success to women is so that they can live a life that allows their ripple effect to their families and their kids to be really, really positive.
A
And I, I want to really touch into that because, you know, it's so when you're in the. The wheelhouse of business coaching or online marketing or whatever it is, it's really easy to talk about the strategy. And people want to hear about that because they, you know, it's like, I just need this one thing. Give me this tool, give me this process, give me the system that I can then boop, drop in and then, you know, I'm going to be good to go. But a lot of times what that can actually do, like, yes, it can be a catalyst for a lot of things, but it can also really mask a lot of the things that we really need to work on first, which is that alignment with mind, body and spirit so that we can actually step into all that we say that we want. And so I want to hear about, you know, I know that you did this for yourself, obviously, and, and now you've been able to help so many women, but how do you first support women in, you know, getting those thoughts right and not always believing what you think and really starting to fall in love with themselves and their geni us and what they're really meant to do in this earth so that strategy can actually work for them.
B
Yeah, I think this is a really important point that you bring up of like, I could give you the formula, I could give you the roadmap, I could give you the steps, but if you don't believe in yourself, if you don't have confidence, if you don't have conviction running through your Veins, you're not going to show up to do them, you know, or, or you're going to do them while you're looking off to your left and your right to see how everyone else around you is doing them. You know, you're not going to like boldly step forward and actually follow the steps to get the results. So it does require certain frequency, a self belief and an energy underneath everything that you do. Right. I think there's two parts. There's, it's a double sided of everything that we do in business. There's like the action that you're doing, the copy that you're writing, the words that you're saying, the piece of content that you're creating, and then underneath that is frequency. And that frequency is going to massively influence how that piece of copy performs. What happens with that. You know, if that content converts. Like if this sales page is helping actually sell your program. It's, it's the, it's the energy that we hold underneath it that is so powerful. And this is, you know, obviously what, what you're speaking to. I think if I reflect on my own journey, like I started so simply and I know, I think it's funny how in, you know, the personal development space like and in any online space we, we have to continue to create like so much novelty and like put out all these new like modalities and ways of saying things because oh, it's, it has to be fresh and it has to feel new. But like, totally honestly for me, like I started with affirmations and I know that affirmations feel like old news to so many people but I think also there's a lot of people, if they are being really honest with themselves, they're not actually even doing that. You know, like oh, meditation, affirmations, breath work, like all these things where it's like oh yeah, I've heard that, I've heard that, I've heard that. But are you actually doing it right? Is it actually a practice for you? And so that's the thing that I would challenge women with first is like examine your routines, your self care, how are you pouring into yourself what is going to influence you having a really clean, energetic frequency before you go to take the action and do the steps. And sometimes it doesn't have to be that complicated. Like sometimes it really is just as simple as like having your affirmations and writing them in the morning. I started like this journaling practice, it was called 335 and I gave it to all of my clients back in the day. And this is actually bringing up a lot of nostalgia for me. I should probably bring this back. I really enjoyed this practice and I used it for years, but it was. It was so simple. It was like writing down three wins of the day, like three things that are going well, and then writing down three things that I'm grateful for. So your gratitudes, and then five of your big, audacious, juicy out in the future life goals that you want to accomplish and everything, you know, sort of written in the present tense. I am statements I love knowing I have, I am all of that. And if you just do that for five minutes every morning, you're already focusing on the positive, you're leaning into gratitude, and you're reminding yourself of what the biggest vision is that you have for your life and the possibilities that are available to you. And I think that affects your outlook and your state wildly. I mean, speaking of energetic state, something else for me, so simple music and dance. Like, we move energy through sound and movement, period. So you underestimate. Okay, why when a great song comes on in the car and you turn it, you crank it all the way up and you sing it and you jam out and you roll the windows down, why do you feel amazing after that? Because it actually changed your energetic frequency. So you can lean on these things that, you know, have the power to manipulate your energy and your state and just intentionally do them more often. It seems silly. I know there's a lot of women that don't want to, like, get up and dance around their room by themselves, but, like, you know, if it's going to make you more successful or make you more money or put you in a better mood, like, fuck, I'm doing.
A
It a million percent. I love to go on walks when I can. If I'm. If I'm not actually doing like a movement practice, like Pilates, like, I believe that there's. We can. We can harbor so much stagnant energy, so much negative energy, and if we don't have an outlet to literally, like, get it out of our bodies, it can fester and it can really manifest into some dark things and take us to dark places and. And I would love to know, to identify that because I think that there's probably women in my world that even, let's say they've done some personal development work and, you know, they've gotten themselves to a certain level, but they just. They just still feel stuck. Could be a word that they explain. But then also this idea of, like, I see the thing that I Want, like, on the horizon. Like, it's on the precipice. I can see it, I can smell it, I can taste it. But for some reason, I can't tangibly claim it and own it and turn it into a reality. What would you say that they could start tapping into or start identifying either with their. How they're showing up, their mindset, their belief system, the frequency, as you were calling it. Because they might not even understand. Like, well, how do I know if my frequency's off? Like, I know when I don't feel good or when I'm sick, but how do I actually know if my frequency isn't aligned to all of the amazing things that I say that I want?
B
Mm. Mm. Well, I think we can easily measure our frequency by tapping into our intuition and just evaluating. Like, do I feel really confident about who I am being right now in my life? Do you have the energy of conviction running through your veins? Because I think conviction is the undercurrent of all success. Like, if you can be convicted and confident and you trust yourself to move forward and you actually wake up being like, yes, I am. I'm that person. Like, I can make this happen. If you have that, then you're going to make stuff happen, right? If you are stuck in the ruminating, the overthinking, the self doubt, you know, getting pulled into comparison, watching what everyone else is doing, you're distracted, you're scrolling too much on your phone. If you're doing all of that, then your frequency is probably off and you can feel it because you're not starting your day feeling like, yes, like, I know who I am. I'm confident in who I'm being right now in this season of my life. And sometimes you just have to, like, switch things up. Sometimes, like, I'll get into a state where I'm like, I'm not feeling so inspired and creative in my life right now. Like, I'm just kind of, like, coasting on, you know, knowing what I'm supposed to do, doing what I always do. Like, these are the routines. Then you just have to switch things up. Like, reimagine sometimes. I love just, like, reimagining my whole calendar. I'm like, okay, I used to do client calls on these days and these days, and I would take this as my CEO day and do whatever else. And it's like, if you just erase all of that and just complete. You're like, okay, what if I literally really just, like, took the mornings completely off and now I didn't start working Till noon? Like, what would my schedule feel like then? What would I do instead? Could I go to Pilates in the morning? Would I go and get a matcha? Would I, you know, drive around or go to the beach or take a walk or. I don't know. There's a million ways that you can start to correct the energy of how you're feeling in your day to day life, but it takes some creativity and it takes some intentionality, right? And I think that's what's missing a lot is we just wake up and we keep doing the same thing over and over again. So I think there's that. The other thing that I would say is if you see the vision and you, you feel like it's so close, like you said, you can see it, you can taste it, you can smell it. It's like, oh, but like, I can't make it happen. I would ask you, why don't you want it? Because usually there is a reason, there's some sort of reason for the resistance. And a lot of times we don't pause to ask ourselves why we wouldn't want this thing because we're so convinced that we do want it. And you do consciously. You really want this thing. You really want to hit seven figures. You really want the business, you really want to travel, you really want the freedom. Yes, you do want it. And there's a part of you that does not want it. And that's the part of you that you have to go inward and find and discover. What would it actually mean if you got that thing, if you got to that level? What are the consequences? I just talked about this with some of my high level clients. Like the consequences of millions. This is something that nobody wants to talk about because it feels so pretentious of like, oh, the consequence of having millions of dollars. Like, oh, boo hoo. Like, sure, maybe you could get some, some flackers or some hate for, for saying something like that. But the reality is, any big goal that you have, there is a part of you that's like, oh, I'm kind of actually scared of that, right? When you think about the consequence of having millions of dollars, it's like, do you know how to manage that money? Like, you're gonna have to do stuff with it? Do you know where to put it? Do you know how to be smart with it? And do you need, and how are you going to find that person? Because some of them are slimy and who are you going to look, you know, reach out to? And when you hit these Big milestones, who are you going to celebrate with? Are people going to care or is everyone going to think that you're bragging? Are you going to lose some friends? Are people going to be happy for you? Are you going to get more hate on your pages or your social media? Like, there are consequences to the big goals and visions that we have, and we often don't pause to consider them. And those might be some of the reasons why you have resistance to actually making the moves at the pace or the speed or the intensity that you need to be in order to actually grab it and bring it into your life.
A
That's so good. And it. It reminds me of. I remember along my journey, I had somebody tell me that, you know, Julie, as you continue to grow and you meet these milestones, you're going to outgrow a lot of people. And I remember thinking, one, yes, I'm going to have to outgrow a lot of people, but I'm going to have to first outgrow that version of myself that's no longer coming with me. And the second thing is, if I quote, unquote, outgrow a lot of people, am I going to make that mean something about me in a negative way? Am I going to make that mean that I'm leaving them behind and that's. That's this negative connotation about me or that I'm a bad person for not, you know, pulling them along with me or whatever that may be. And so I would love to hear your take on that, because I know how this idea and this concept that you're sharing also relates to the pivot and the ultimate evolution and transformation of our businesses as we grow and evolve.
B
I think that this is one of the hardest parts of the growth process, especially for women, is reaching the point where they start to feel some of the relationships slipping or their friends can no longer relate, or people in their life aren't really that happy for them. And the milestones that they're hitting or what's going on for them, or you've just changed so much that now the. The conversations that you used to have with your group of high school friends or college friends or whoever in the past is like, I don't feel like I fit in this group anymore. And that feels scary because there's no. No one's done anything wrong to me. But I don't feel like this is fully in alignment. This is, yeah, the consequence of alignment. It's the consequence of radical authenticity. It's the consequence of growth, is that like you said, you outgrow the old versions of yourself and a lot of the people in your life that you love and that, you know, they fell in love with an old version of you. And that version of you is dead now. So it's like either they're going to fall in love with the new version of you and they're going to be happy for you and they're going to be excited for you and they're going to be inspired by the changes that you're making, and they're going to ask you questions and be curious and. Or maybe you just talk about stuff that isn't related to what you're learning or your business and they're just still a ride or die sort of friend that is like down to fall in love with the new versions of you and all these new iterations, or you're going to start to realize that it's feeling a lot harder to move forward with the weight of trying to hold on to the past. So it's like that quote, what does it say? It's like your new life is going to cost you your old one. And so it's like, how much do you want to have a totally new life and be a totally new you? We do all these, like, meditations and visualizations all the time of like, stepping into that next level version of ourself and our business. And it feels so exciting and like, blissful. But it's like there's stuff that has to fall away in order to make space for that. Right? Whenever I'm talking about manifestation, I always make sure to remind people that one of the best ways to call in new experiences, new people, new relationships, new material items, new things into your life is by making space for them. Do you have open space for the manifestation to fall in? And this also applies to what we're speaking about here is like, if you're clinging to the past, if you're entertaining these old relationships, friendships that don't really f. Things that are misaligned, people that aren't supporting you. If you're clinging to that and you're holding onto it with a white knuckle grip, you don't have any space in your life for these new blessings. You don't have any. Any energetic capacity for the new friends who are going to uplift you, cheer you on, be excited for you. Like, where is the space, girl? Like, you're all tied up in the. In these old webs of old patterns and people and things that no longer serve you. So it is a real. It is a real consequence of the growth process is letting go of things you're at the past version of you that no longer align. And sometimes it's like, wow, I've become so renewed and so different that I now see that some of the people in my life actually weren't ever that healthy. They weren't ever that, that great to me. And maybe this was never really a good relationship and that's really painful of recognizing that. Maybe it wasn't what you thought it was. But sometimes it's also just like there's no hard feelings and it's just, it's just part of that growing process of like we've, we've drifted apart and like that happens. And that's okay.

B
You'll love it.
A
You can take the quiz and explore the topics that matter to you. I love what you said about, you know, by closing that door, essentially you're making the space in the room that's necessary to actually call in the things that you're saying that you want. So that was all incredible. I want to now kind of shift into how this plays out, our parlays, into how we show up and how we share our message and our gifts with the world. So I first want to lay kind of some context. So how long have you been in the online coaching space?
B
If five years now. I started in late 2019. So yeah, perfect.
A
So you've been in here long enough to kind of see because I always say like the last five years, especially since 2020, has been such a massive shift and change. So from your lens and your perspective and your expertise and the all the incredible women that you work with, what have you seen be the biggest shifts over the last several years? And really what do we need to be focusing on in 2025 to claim that authority for ourselves, to share our light, to make sure that we're calling in those clients and those people that we're meant to serve and then of course using our messaging and our voice to be seen and be heard.
B
Yeah, I think the space has shifted so much and it's also grown a lot, which is exciting and it's really good. But I was just saying this to a client earlier today. Like we constantly are having to reinvent ourselves and reimagine. Reimagine stuff in order to compete. Like the market is always changing and I do think that the market has changed a lot for coaching programs, services, courses, all of it. Like you have obviously seen that it's such a different game now than it was and not just like, like logically in terms of like the platforms have changed now we have so much short form video content, but it's like even like buyer sophistication and like what people are looking for and what's actually going to convert a client. Like all of that has changed. So what I've observed is I think what used to work really, really well was this sort of kind of like reality TV effect of almost like influencer vibes of kind of really just sharing the behind the scenes of your life, like being yourself, bringing people into the fold of your day and sharing a lot and sharing often. And that would be the thing that really built this like no. 1 trust of people in your audience feeling like, oh, I like I know this person, like I see what they do on a daily basis and so I might want to work with her paired with obviously promoting your offers and such. But now I think that because buyers are A, smarter and B, they've been around the block, they've bought a lot of things.
A
Exactly.
B
They've, they've, they've bought some things. So they, they carry some, they carry some wisdom and maybe some baggage. In some cases in terms of ways that they've been disappointed or didn't get what they want. And so they're not really looking for a best friend, they're not looking for relatability, they're looking for mastery. They're looking for someone who is obviously so aligned in their area of expertise and that is selling a real solution to a problem that they have in their life that is, is something that they urgently want to fix or solve. And so I think that that forces business owners to now be a little bit more narrow and specific with how they talk about their offers, with really highlighting the tangible like outcomes. Getting so specific. I always say the spices in the specificity for literally everything. Like anything that you do, if you can make it more specific, it'll be better. I was just talking to my partner last night about this interview that he's doing for his career and like this next position that he kind of wants to get and you know, he was kind of practicing a couple things with me and I said, look, you have all of the information to be able to spitball back and forth with this person that's going to interview you about why you'd be great for the job. And if you can do the tasks, I'm like, the thing that's going to make you stand out and make you actually look different than the other people that are interviewing is if you can infuse some storytelling and some hyper specific anecdotes of things that you've done, of wisdom that you've gained, of experiences that you've had because they know that you can clicky clack like learn the software, do the job job. Like those are the basics. And it's the same for our online offers. Like it's no longer going to sell your offer. You just shouting out the specs of like, oh, you get this many calls or you get this much time with me or you get this many videos. And also I think people aren't looking for more, they're looking for streamline. They're looking for fast, efficient, easy, better to consume. This is a reason why we've taken all of our like masterminds and we have so many incredible trainings in them. But we've also started to put those trainings into a secret podcast feed so that our students and clients can consume that wisdom on the go, in the car, working out, on a walk, they can download it, listen to it on a flight. It's not this like cumbersome experience of having to log into a platform like teachable or Kajabi to watch a video. We have that available for you. But we want to make the user experience better and more seamless because people are looking for ease. It's like, can you solve a problem for me in the quickest, most efficient, most joyful way possible? That's what they're looking for. So I think we need to be more narrow in our messaging. We need to be more specific with the outcomes that people can expect and really understanding on a deep level what your client's primal desires are. I call them primal desires because I think people go, oh, well, she wants to, you know, have a successful business or what? And it's like, no, that's not a primal desire, though. She wants money. Money. She wants money, right? Like, if you really think about what are the primal desires, I think that's actually going to drive her, then speak to those things. So that's just another, you know, example of the specifics. But we have to apply that in all areas and then making it, you know, facilitating a really easy and efficient way for them to get those results.
A
That's so good. And I love that you really touched on just ways to really meet your ideal client and consumer, where they're at and not just kind of doing it the same way that it's been done before. So, like, for example, the private podcast stream, you know, that's like meeting them where they are because, you know, like, obviously they're probably listening to podcasts, you know, and so it's.
B
It's little.

It's things like that that is doing less, but doing it better. And I love that you shared that. How do you find the way? Because I also hear this a lot where people are like, okay, so if we're shifting away from this lifestyle kind of way of branding, and I completely agree with you, where it's not just enough to share your day. It's not, you know, I even say, you know, a lot. It's like, people don't even have to relate to you to buy from you. They just have to know that they're going to get the transformation that they want from you and you're going to deliver the results. It's really that simple. I don't have to relate to the CEO of Nike to. To buy my sneakers. I don't have to relate to the owner of Starbucks to get my Matcha. So with that to say, though, when you. When you think of things like that, but then at the same time, we are these personal brands. We are the face of our business. You know, we, you Know, businesses like you and I, Sam, I mean we're, we're in people's ears every single week on podcasts where if they watch them on YouTube, they're watching us, they're consuming that. And so where do we find the balance between. I'm sharing what I feel is important. I'm sharing my belief systems, I'm sharing the spirituality aspects of myself, I'm sharing the vulnerable parts of myself while at the same time being able to show up as that authority that we are owning that brilliance and really being able to show our ideal clients that we have what you need to get X results.
B
I think this is such a good question and probably something that so many people are thinking about. I know I think about this often because of the shift away from lifestyle. You know, just me, me, me, like here's, here's my life. Come along with me to being more intentional, creating, you know, everyone wants to build more authority. Like you said, they don't need to relate to you, they just need to know that you're going to solve their problem. That's the difference between relatability and mastery. Your highest caliber client isn't looking for you to be, like I said, your their best friend, but they're really looking to see like, is this the person that's going to get me the result that I want? But I don't know if you've experienced this, but I definitely have of, you know, in posting less but more efficiently and more effectively and more intentionally. I also do feel that there's a little bit of like a void sometimes of that coziness that you used to feel with your audience of like hanging out with them every day or that they were coming along with you in your life. And it, it does sort of feel like, oh, there's like I'm not with them as much. Like we're not. I don't, there's not as much like, like personal connection happening here which isn't necessarily, you know, the lifeblood of a business. Right. But as, as you know, heart led, purpose driven entrepreneurs who do want to be connected to their communities. I think that's something that brings us fulfillment. Right. So being, doing things less but better helps in the effectiveness of making sales and your business is making money and it's, it's becoming more profitable. But are you still feeling fulfilled and feeling the joy of the work? I see this happen to clients a lot when they, you know, scale, scale, scale and they remove themselves from all of their offers gradually. Like, okay, I'm not on the courses anymore. I'm not on the trainings anymore. I'm not on the calls, I'm not in the chat, I'm not. It's like remove, remove, remove. And at first it feels like freedom, it feels like breathing. They love it. And then eventually they feel so disconnected because they're like, like I don't see people getting the results. Maybe they're getting the results, but like, I'm not in it with them. I don't feel that like, energy. I think this is why people love retreats and in person experiences, especially as, you know, the facilitator, because it's like that's the right in front of your eyes. You get to witness the power of your work. You get to receive that deep sense of fulfillment and excitement and joy and just loving what you do and knowing that what you're putting out into the world matters and that it's actually helping change people's lives. And so I think we are in this balance of like, yeah, we're posting less, we're being way more effective, we're trying to be authoritative. But then where's, you know, the connection with our audience and how do we continue to feel involved with them and feel fulfilled? So for me, I don't think I do this perfectly by any means, but this is sort of the way that I think about it for myself. And my business is like Instagram, I think, being my primary, primary platform where I really like, post and convert clients is definitely becoming much more strategic and less lifestyle, like, less influencer. Like, whereas long form pieces of content like the podcast or if you have YouTube or something like that, but also even like in emails, if you write, if you actually write your own emails, like there's a real potential to express some of the deeper things on your heart and to really share updates and photos and like there's other ways to be connected with your audience so that you still feel that sense of connection and they feel it. Right. So I kind of think about short form content is going to be much more about brand building. It's going to be about authority, it's going to, about making sure, you know, people witness my mastery, my expertise. There's going to be storytelling woven into that obviously. But then the long form content is much more where you get the depth and like the rawness of personality. Right. Like so much more of my personality comes through on the podcast because we have time, you know, like, we can joke about things, we can laugh. Like, you get to hear about behind the scenes things that are happening in my Life like I'm telling more stories. So that's kind of how it's working for me right now in my business. I don't know how you feel about that, but that's what I've noticed.
A
Yeah, I totally agree with you. And I think you, you hit the nail on the head so much with that that as that the Instagram platform has evolved, you know, it and it continues to evolve. It really is a short form piece of content. There's only so much time, you know, whether it's a three minute reel or 24 hours on a story series, to connect deeper. And so that's why I also love the long form content. No matter what someone chooses, whether that's a blog or a podcast or what have it be a substack to really dive in deeper and, and, but I do think that you need both. You know, you don't need all of it, but it's like you can go all in on Instagram, but then you do need to another longer form of content where you can showcase that you're a human being and really share the nuances of all of those things. So you don't come across as just this robotic person that's constantly like teaching or showcasing authority. And I think the way that you really learn how to do that is through practice and finding those nuances. And I love what you said about a retreat. I was just talking to my team, I was like, I need a retreat. So, so like we're gonna put a retreat together. And I, I see that too. Even like with masterminds. And I'll, you know, I'll tell clients that I'm like, you don't, you don't create a retreat to necessarily make money or even a mastermind to make the money. That's not really where a lot of the passive income comes in anyways. Because a lot of those, especially if you do in person retreats, there's, there's costs involved in that and heavy lifting and if you fly people in and you've got your team and all of those things, but you do that for everything that you said and for those connection. So I love that tidbit and I love that takeaway. Before we wrap up today, I would love to hear. I've got two, I've got two questions for you. The first one is, what does influence mean to you? And the second one is how are you showcasing that and living through that as we are now in 2025?
B
Mm. So good influence to me is the ability to inspire and motivate others to take action on something. Right? And I think there are a lot of women that have a resistance to this idea of being influential, maybe because it's associated with influencer, which has, you know, has a ring to it nowadays because people have put it in a box of this, you know, sort of taboo thing to be. But what I would say is if you have resistance to feeling like I want to be an influencer or I want to be an influential woman, the thing that you have to understand is that if you want to create any change in this world, if there's any kind of change that you want to ripple out and start to create in the world, you must be influential. You must have the power of influence. So we get to take that word, reclaim it, own it, and understand that influence means the ability to inspire or motivate other people, people to act. Whatever action that's going to be, whether it's going to be, you know, you're influential, getting people to buy your influential, getting people to change their lives, to lose weight, to revamp their health, to shift their mindset. Like you are a woman of influence and you first have to own that. So for me, in my, in my world, in my life, you know, when I think about the influence that I want to have and create, it's like I said earlier, of really having a ripple effect of creating more women in the world. It's like building an army of women that are also all doing this work and then rippling out into women in their programs and their services and their offers. I see myself as like, if I can do this really well and I can help women build their businesses, attract room clients, wake up every day feeling happy, excited, fulfilled, abundant. And they're doing purpose led work and they're also helping other women. Like, holy shit. I mean, that's, that's a miracle. That's such magic. That's such a blessing in my life to be able to do that. So that's kind of where I see my influence and just want to encourage everyone else to reclaim that word for yourself. I'm a woman of influence.

This episode delves deep into the power of small decisions, aligning mind, body, and spirit, and redefining influence in the modern coaching landscape.
1. Samantha's Journey to Self-Development Coaching
Samantha opens up about the pivotal moments that steered her towards self-development coaching. From a defining experience in sixth grade choosing to study Spanish, which eventually led her to study abroad in Madrid, Samantha highlights how seemingly minor decisions can shape one's destiny.
Notable Quote:
“At the time, maybe it seems so small, but ultimately can end up rippling out and creating this huge impact and journey for your life.” [01:57]
During her time in Spain, Samantha not only immersed herself in a new culture but also embarked on a personal journey of self-discovery. This period was crucial in overcoming personal challenges such as body image issues and gaining confidence, laying the foundation for her future coaching endeavors.
2. The Butterfly Effect: Small Decisions, Big Transformations
Samantha emphasizes the concept of the butterfly effect—how small, everyday decisions can lead to significant life transformations. Her choice to study Spanish not only enhanced her linguistic skills but also led to personal relationships and career opportunities that shaped her path.
Notable Quote:
“I do have to first outgrow that version of myself that's no longer coming with me.” [00:00]
This principle underscores the importance of mindfulness in decision-making, encouraging listeners to recognize the long-term impact of their choices.
3. Aligning Mind, Body, Spirit for Business Success
Transitioning into business coaching, Samantha discusses the necessity of aligning one's mindset, body, and spirit to achieve sustainable success. She argues that without this alignment, even the best strategies can falter.
Notable Quote:
“If you don't believe in yourself, if you don't have confidence, if you don't have conviction running through your veins, you're not going to show up to do them.” [09:17]
Samantha shares practical routines such as affirmations and journaling (her 335 journaling practice), which help maintain a positive and focused mindset. She also highlights the significance of physical activities like music and dance in regulating one's energy and enhancing productivity.
4. The Role of Energy and Frequency in Business Strategies
Delving deeper, Samantha introduces the concept of frequency—how one's energetic state influences business outcomes. She explains that the energy behind actions, content, and communications can significantly affect their effectiveness.
Notable Quote:
“Sometimes it really is just as simple as like having your affirmations and writing them in the morning.” [09:17]
By fostering a high-frequency state through gratitude, positivity, and intentional practices, entrepreneurs can enhance their ability to convert leads and achieve their business goals.
5. Shifts in the Online Coaching Landscape
Discussing the evolution of the online coaching industry, Samantha observes several key shifts over the past few years. The market has grown more competitive, and buyer sophistication has increased, necessitating more specific and mastery-driven approaches.
Notable Quote:
“What used to work really, really well was this sort of reality TV effect... but now... buyers are smarter and they've been around the block.” [26:02]
She notes that modern clients seek mastery and tangible outcomes rather than mere relatability, pushing coaches to refine their messaging to highlight specific, tangible results.
6. Balancing Authority and Personal Connection
Julie and Samantha explore the delicate balance between establishing authority and maintaining a personal connection with the audience. While short-form content on platforms like Instagram focuses on brand building and authority, long-form content—such as podcasts and emails—fosters deeper, more personal connections.
Notable Quote:
“Short form content is going to be much more about brand building. Long form content is much more where you get the depth and the rawness of personality.” [32:54]
Samantha advocates for leveraging different content formats to showcase both expertise and authentic personality, ensuring a holistic connection with the audience.
7. Redefining Influence in 2025
Towards the end of the episode, Samantha redefines what it means to be influential. She urges women to reclaim the term “influence,” viewing it as the power to inspire and motivate meaningful action.
Notable Quote:
“If you want to create any change in this world, if there's any kind of change that you want to ripple out and start to create, you must be influential.” [38:57]
Samantha envisions her influence as building an army of empowered women who, in turn, uplift others, creating a cascading effect of positive change and success.
