What it do with your boy DJ Pre K with the John Clay Wolf Show. Y'all know what time it is, man. I'm up in the archives and today we're taking it back to when John almost caught a beatdown from the Furry gang. Okay. He started talking down and they came out in droves, man. And set the record straight. Now, I don't know much about furries or bronies or none of that, but I'm an old school cat. I know some things are better with fur on them. Check it out.
Eddie
It's time for my favorite part of our Saturday broadcast. You just lost a listener.
Frank
Okay, I gotcha.
Eddie
Do you.
Frank
Are you ready? Are you seated?
Eddie
I have not read this. I have not heard about. I don't know what it. What we've got. So somebody sending a hate mail?
Frank
Yes, you're gonna love this.
Eddie
And remember, hate mail can be sent in writing to our PO Box. If you go to JCW show, click Contact John snail mail. It's right there. Or just email us hate mail. But handwritten hate mail is more likely to make it to the air because we know you're really serious. And I believe this was handwritten hate mail.
Frank
Well, here we go. Are you ready?
Eddie
Yep.
Ken
Mike, you listener.
Eddie
Hello.
Frank
Hello, John. I'm here in San Jose and I recently discovered your stupid show. I tuned in to hear you talking about furries and how they are freaks, all in caps and other things, but you have no idea what you're talking about. Double exclamation point. I am a proud father, all in caps, of a son whose face lights up anytime he puts on his precious little poodle suit. We recently had.
Gigi
Stop it. Puts on his poodle suit. I'm sorry.
Frank
We recently had a furry convention here in San Jose, and I had the pleasure of attending with my son. And I got to see friendship and bonus bonds, the kind of which most people won't get to experience in their lifetime. All in caps. Maybe if you got your bigoted butt out of the radio room every now and then, you would see that the world is full of more than beer guzzling morons like yourself and your crew. I don't guzzle beer. But anyways, the happiness these people have is achieved. The happiness these people achieved is something to be strived for. And I think if everybody put on a furry and just hugged each other. Let's hug it out. Just. Just hug it out. Okay. The world would be a much better place. I will not be tuning into your radio show again unless it is to hear an apology. All in caps. And I hope your radio station feels the wrath of more proud furries and their families. Sincerely, a pissed off of a pissed off furry day.
Eddie
Well, I hope he takes that suit off. Just lost Alyssa before he gets peed off or he'll get wet.
Gigi
I hope they wear the su when they do the protest. I want the video.
Eddie
I don't think he's talking about. I think he's talking about little kids in costumes. That's fine. My kids run around in costumes when they're little too, Right? That's not what we're talking about. We're talking about people that dress up as giraffes to have intercourse.
Gigi
Grown up adults.
Frank
Yeah, yeah. I think he's talking about the furries, though. They went to a convention.
Eddie
Yeah, there are conventions. Yeah.
Gigi
Oh, there are a lot of them. It's a big deal. It's a very big deal.
Frank
Yeah, they can make the sexy time.
Eddie
Ken in Houston, good morning. You're on the air.
Ken
Hey, boss man. You guys doing all right? Sounds good to hear you, man.
Eddie
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ken
Hey, I'll tell you, I'm a longtime listener. Every Saturday, if I'm not working, I'm tinkering on My Car Is My Garage, all that good stuff. So I love listening to y'all show, but hey, I just. I couldn't resist it, man. I'm the first time I've ever called into your show and I couldn't resist this whole Furby thing. So I don't know how much you know about Bob's Burger, the animated show that comes on Fox on Sunday.
Eddie
I watch a little bit, right.
Ken
So my kids got me caught on to that damn thing. Whenever we travel, they watch it on the tablet in the car. And I was listening to it so many times, I actually got hooked on the damn thing. And it's funny. It is funny, right? There's a lot of little Innuendos in there. Now there's an episode in there where the daughter has like a My Little Pony doll or whatever. And come to find out there's a whole organization of guys that dress up like that. It's exactly what you're talking about with the Furby deal. Furry or whatever. So my comment is, welcome to California, because that's exactly what California has got to be like, man, I'm telling you. I mean, only them could. I mean, come on, think about. You ever spent any real time out there, Austin, you know, on work and stuff? You just see some of the wildest things and you think, oh, wow, man. They think Texas has got problems. No, I think it goes deeper than Texas.
Eddie
Thank you. 8008-0072-3480-0800 radio.
Gigi
And Gigi, on a daily basis, do you see weird stuff? I mean, you live in California, people think of California. It's not weird at all.
Eddie
The weird.
Frank
Well, thank you for answering for me.
Eddie
Sorry. Go ahead, go ahead.
Frank
Okay. Yeah, there's weird things all the time. Like what?

Oh, the things I hear.
Gigi
No, just.
Frank
See, I don't know if I'm allowed.
Gigi
To go down the street, see furries walking.
Frank
Oh, you mean down the street. No, I don't see furbies. When we were in San Francisco, there was a naked man walking down the street. He was wearing shoes. And that was all.
Eddie
Well, I was in New Orleans doing that myself.
Gigi
That's old hat. Everyone's done that. I just wondered. People think California, but I realized it's a lot. It's a big state. There's a lot of cool people there.
Eddie
I've seen more weird things in Louisiana than California. And I've been to both of them about the same.
Gigi
But mostly New Orleans, of course. Yeah, of course.
Frank
The weirdest thing you've seen is like.
Eddie
Black magic or guy having sex on a bar with another man in the broad daylight. Do you ever hear that Oak Ridge boy song, Leaving Louisiana in the broad daylight? That was me.
Gigi
John walked into a bar. He didn't know that it was that kind of Bar. And he was suddenly like, what are those people doing? Oh, can I get out of here?
Eddie
Bend over, I'll show you.
Gigi
Right, Exactly. Careful what you walk into. In New Orleans.
Eddie
What was that story about furries? We were talking about furries earlier.
Gigi
Yeah, we even have furries. A text. Yeah, furries.
Eddie
Not flirbies. Not furbies.
John Clay Wolf
What are you calling a furry? What is a fur?
Gigi
We're adults dressed up as lanimals, where.
Eddie
You identify as a cat.
Frank
Right.
Gigi
We have a text. Actually, our text line is 800-800-7 2, 3, 4. And somebody here says, it's Mike from Nashville. Years ago, a friend and I went to Memphis on Labor Day for a furry convention. Happened to be taking that. They weren't there for the convention. It happened to be taking place at their hotel. They witnessed a wedding ceremony. I don't know why this makes me laugh. The bride was the skunk. The groom was a dog. She led around by a leash. Anyway, that's. I know, right?
Eddie
Only in Memphis.
Gigi
Big deal, man.
Eddie
Here's one. Anthony.
Gigi
Yes.
Eddie
You're a furry.
Anthony
Yes, sir.
Eddie
What's that mean to me? Does that mean that you're, like, a sexual predator?
Ken
I personally am not.
Eddie
Okay, you'll bite me. So really, you identify as a dog?
Anthony
I don't do any of that weird stuff.
Eddie
Okay, you just walk around in a fox suit.
Frank
But that's not weird.
Gigi
None of that weird stuff.
Frank
Wow.
Eddie
Tell me about it.
Anthony
So I personally got into it about. Probably about 20 years ago now. And the whole reason why I got into it was actually a buddy of mine was into it, and he, for some reason, convinced me to go to a convention. And unfortunately, the rest was kind of history. They kind of roped me into it. And from all the years I've been doing it, everyone. It kind of has, like, their own different reason. For me, it was purely out of boredom, I guess. But for some people, you know, they don't like their lives in general. They found a suit. They. They get to act out and pretend that they are a different person. I personally don't get that aspect of it, but there's a lot of people where that's. That's the reason why they do it, is to basically be a different entity compared to what they. Mainly because they're probably just not happy with their life.
Eddie
It's just Bourbon Street.
Frank
I mean, Persona.
Eddie
Bourbon Street's been doing this for a century.
Gigi
It's Halloween. You're dressing up as something you're not pretending you're being that argument. Pirate. No, you're Not.
Eddie
Are you straight or gay?
Anthony
I'm straight.
Eddie
All right. Are there a lot of. Does the homo. Homo. How do I say it without getting in trouble? The gay crowd.
Gigi
Sure.
Eddie
Is it heavy?
Anthony
It is extremely happy. I am in terms of group. I am in the minority. It is heavily LGBT and things along those lines. Yeah.
Eddie
You're cutting up real bad. But thank you for calling in. That makes sense.
Gigi
Sure.
Eddie
Because. And all that stuff goes hand in hand with all that. Good.
Gigi
They have a great time, they have a lot of fun, and they let loose all their little inhibitions. They drop the. They drop the face masks.
Eddie
Tony in Florida.
Tony
Hey, man. Hey. I love your show. First.
Eddie
Thank you.
Tony
First time I've ever called. But you guys are talking about the furries and there's. There's a. There's a way more disturbing group than those guys. There's guys that actually dress up like My Little Pony and they're called My Little Bronies.
Eddie
Bronies.
Gigi
Oh, stop it.
Tony
Yeah. Bronies.
Gigi
My little.
Tony
Yeah, yeah.
Eddie
Like, are they. Bro, I don't get it.
Gigi
My Little Brony. They dress like My Little Ponies. Men.
Eddie
But they're all. They're bros, bro.
Gigi
Yeah, yeah.
Tony
And they're. They're.
Eddie
They're lighting the loco.
Gigi
Yeah, we get it.
Eddie
Yeah, yeah. Right?
John Clay Wolf
Yeah, exactly.
Eddie
Well. And you were in Florida, so you're guilty. Just from the jump.
John Clay Wolf
Now, is that a two man suit? Like one guy's the front, one guy's the back, or it's just like a one man suit?
Tony
All four. The hands are hooves, the feet are hooves, and they got a mane on. I've seen about 200 of them at the airport. That type of thing should not be allowed in public.
Eddie
That's all I gotta say.
John Clay Wolf
So they walk around upright on two legs.
Gigi
Yes. I have pictures I'm getting ready to put on our face.
Eddie
You saw 200 or something. Thank you. 800. 800. 7, 2, 3, 4, 800.
Gigi
Do you get on that airplane or do you go. Nah, I'm gonna take the next one.
Eddie
Alright.

Episode Summary: JCW ARCHIVE: Furries, Tramps & Thieves
In the April 25, 2025 episode of The John Clay Wolfe Show titled "Furries, Tramps & Thieves," host John Clay Wolfe embarks on an in-depth exploration of the furry subculture. This episode intertwines personal anecdotes, listener interactions, and candid discussions to shed light on the complexities and misconceptions surrounding furries, tramps, and thieves.
The episode kicks off with John Clay Wolfe setting the nostalgic tone:
"The John Clay Wolfe show has appeared on terrestrial radio for a really, really, really long time. So we dug into our pockets and on the other side of our we found something funny. And yes, it's contagious. Gather round as the wolf pack goes on this throwback adventure."
— John Clay Wolf (00:27)
DJ Pre K then introduces the main topic, recalling an incident where John nearly faced a confrontation from the furry community:
"Today we're taking it back to when John almost caught a beatdown from the Furry gang. Okay. He started talking down and they came out in droves, man."
— DJ Pre K (00:47)
The hosts delve into what furries are and address common misconceptions. They discuss how furries express themselves through elaborate costumes and the sense of community within furry conventions.
Frank reads a letter from Ken in San Jose, who defends the furry community against negative stereotypes:
"The happiness these people have achieved is something to be strived for. And I think if everybody put on a furry and just hugged each other, the world would be a much better place."
— Ken (02:20)
This segment highlights the positive aspects of the furry community, emphasizing friendship and acceptance.
The "hate mail" segment introduces a contrasting viewpoint. Frank reads a harshly worded letter from Mike, a frustrated listener:
"I tuned in to hear you talking about furries and how they are freaks... Maybe if you got your bigoted butt out of the radio room every now and then, you would see that the world is full of more than beer guzzling morons like yourself and your crew."
— Mike from San Jose (02:01)
Eddie humorously suggests that Mike might face repercussions for his tacky appearance:
"I hope he takes that suit off. Just lost Alyssa before he gets peed off or he'll get wet."
— Eddie (03:42)
The episode features several listener call-ins, each adding depth to the discussion:
Ken from Houston shares his long-time listener status and his interest in automotive projects, segueing into his thoughts on furries and related subcultures:
"I couldn't resist this whole Furby thing. So my comment is, welcome to California, because that's exactly what California has got to be like, man."
— Ken (04:27)
Anthony from Nashville provides an insider perspective on the furry community, explaining his involvement and dispelling myths:
"Everyone has their own different reason. For me, it was purely out of boredom... to basically be a different entity compared to what they."
— Anthony (08:28)
He further elaborates on the diversity within the community:
"It is extremely happy. I am in terms of group. I am in the minority. It is heavily LGBT and things along those lines."
— Anthony (10:02)
Tony from Florida introduces the concept of "My Little Bronies," men who dress as characters from the "My Little Pony" series, sparking a humorous yet insightful discussion:
"I've seen about 200 of them at the airport. That type of thing should not be allowed in public."
— Tony (11:15)
The hosts and callers explore the broader cultural implications of subcultures like furries. Gigi shares amusing observations from her travels:
"They wear a fox suit... Grown up adults."
— Gigi (07:44)
Eddie adds his skepticism with a touch of humor:
"We're talking about people that dress up as giraffes to have intercourse."
— Eddie (04:02)
As the episode progresses, the hosts reflect on the importance of understanding and tolerance towards diverse lifestyles. Despite initial ridicule, there's a shift towards recognizing the happiness and community that subcultures like furries provide to their members.
John Clay Wolf:
"If everybody put on a furry and just hugged each other, the world would be a much better place."
— (02:20)
Ken:
"Welcome to California, because that's exactly what California has got to be like, man."
— (04:27)
Anthony:
"For me, it was purely out of boredom... to basically be a different entity compared to what they."
— (08:28)
Tony:
"I've seen about 200 of them at the airport. That type of thing should not be allowed in public."
— (11:15)
