DJ Pre K
What's the damn deal? It's your boy DJ Pre K with the John Clay Wolf Show. I'm up in the archives and I know, I know everybody's waiting on their dream of a distant rich cousin to pass and leave them a mountain of cash and a gang luxury cars. Or we got to talk to a man whose dream finally came true. I remember talking to this sucker, I mean caller for a long time, trying to get his story together. Unfortunately, he never called back with the money, but we got a great clip out of it. Check it out.
John Clay Wolf
Hey, Free K, that guy's been on hold for like an hour. I'd like to talk to him. Could you please push hold so I could get to it? It's a Rolls Royce caller that wants to sell his. Thank you, James. Yeah, how many miles on this Rolls
Caller
Royce that I don't know for sure, John? I'm trying to find out from the lawyer because I'm going to inherit this.
John Clay Wolf
Okay, what color is it?
Caller
That I'm not sure of. I've seen a Picture of it. It would seem like it was a darker color to me.
John Clay Wolf
What'd you do 23andMe and find out you had a long last pappy, long lost pappy, and he left you a Rolls Royce?
Caller
No, I actually had a friend that died from cancer of leukemia. And he left me all this stuff and I wasn't aware of it. I got. His lawyer got hold of me. That's the lawyer of this. This man that has two clothing companies in California and one in Warsaw, Poland. I've got a copy of the will.
John Clay Wolf
Why? Why did he leave you all this stuff?
Caller
I don't know. He. He said he got hold of me and asked me could we be friends. This is not a scam. It's not a well planned out, even elaborate scam.
John Clay Wolf
So were y' all like pimp?
Caller
Yeah. Yeah, basically.
John Clay Wolf
Did you ever even meet him in person?
Caller
I did not. I saw a picture of him. He was in Richmond, Kentucky in an apartment with nurses and everything. I even talked to the nurses. He died from leukemia right there in Richmond, Kentucky. He is buried out in California.
John Clay Wolf
What else has he got? What else you get off the will?
Caller
6% of what he had in the private bank, which is 128,000.
John Clay Wolf
Okay.
Caller
And a 2023 three quarter ton crew cab, heavy duty LTZ plus with 12, 000 original miles.
John Clay Wolf
Go ahead.
Caller
A 2003 Honda Go Wing track this man paid cash for.
John Clay Wolf
Was he straight?
Caller
Yep.
John Clay Wolf
Because you know, if you're driving a trike.
Skeptical Listener
Didn't see that coming.
John Clay Wolf
How long was he?
Caller
I've been riding motorcycles, John, since I was old enough to hold him up.
John Clay Wolf
And do you have any trikes?
Caller
Never been on a trike.
John Clay Wolf
Right, exactly my point. Queer is a three dollar bill. This guy liked you, but that's fine. He liked you enough to leave you all this money. Hey, when you get the.
Caller
No, wait a minute. Let me back up. Back you up there. He originally was going to buy me a regular motorcycle, a big road bike. And I asked the. The people that. That had all these vehicles if they had a trike.
John Clay Wolf
You wanted one?
Caller
Yeah, I wanted one.
John Clay Wolf
Oh.
Caller
Because I had a motorcycle that had a safe sidecar, but you can't hardly find those anymore.
John Clay Wolf
I'm gonna pay in three dollar bills. I'm gonna pay you in three dollar bills. Well, you don't get my joke.
Caller
I'm as straight as I can.
John Clay Wolf
I'm just kidding anyway. I'm just being. I'm just joking around. If you listen to me, you know, that's my stick. Okay, so One more question. Why do you know the miles on the truck, but you don't know the miles on the rolls?
Caller
Because the. The person that was selling the truck to the. The person that bought them, his name was Gary Smith. The man told me the mileage and everything on that truck. That was the best truck he had for the price.
John Clay Wolf
He sold it to your friend
Caller
Gary Smith, bought, paid cash for it through Bitcoin.
John Clay Wolf
Oh, is Gary Smith the guy that died?
Caller
Yes.
John Clay Wolf
Okay. All right. Well, you called in for me to bid your Rolls. We don't know the color and we don't know the miles, so I cannot bid it. But I am crazy interested.
Caller
And yeah, as soon as I can find out. I asked the lawyer that question. The condition.
John Clay Wolf
When do you get the cars?
Caller
Pardon me?
John Clay Wolf
When do you get the cars?
Caller
It's sitting in Warsaw, Poland, right now with all the rest of you.
Show Narrator
Poland.
Caller
Here we go.
John Clay Wolf
Here's this catch. So you got to get them out.
Skeptical Listener
And the shoe drops.
Caller
Just give him your bank account number.
Show Narrator
Did the lawyer or any of the nurses ask for a credit card number?
Caller
No. No. And this can be verified? All this can be verified? That's right. It's not, you know, it's not a well elaborate planned out scan.
John Clay Wolf
Here's what we'll do. Here's what we'll do. We got to get them here. So we'll get them to the port. We, you and I will make a deal. Do you have any money?
Caller
Do I have any money? Yeah, yeah, I grabbed some. Yeah.
John Clay Wolf
Well, actually, you got 128,000. Then if that's sitting in Warsaw, Poland, they can just wire it to you.
Caller
But let's sit in California. That's sitting in California.
John Clay Wolf
When do you get the money?
Caller
This next week.
John Clay Wolf
Okay, so we're gonna take the money, we're gonna move the cars over here. I'm gonna buy the cars from you and. But we just got to get them closer to the border.
Caller
Okay, let me back it. Let me. Let me back you up. I told the Austin the. They're gonna put the plot the car on a plane. They're gonna fly it from Warsaw, Poland, hypersonic to DFW in eight hours.
Skeptical Listener
No, they're not. I'm just gonna say it, dude. No, they're not. They're just not.
Caller
Stop.
John Clay Wolf
That's not a cost efficient way to move a car.
Skeptical Listener
That's not even doable.
John Clay Wolf
You put it on a container. Do me this. Get the money, the 128, and then call back and let's start working forward because all These moving parts are interesting, but that money is easy to move. And once you have that money, then you know this is real. But the hypersonic part, I'm calling BS on. So it's just because you can move that car from Poland to the States for two grand on a container, there's no reason to hypersonic on the Concord.
Skeptical Listener
The Concord doesn't fly anymore.
Caller
Okay, okay, fair enough. Let me back. Let me back you up. I'm ex military and I know something about the. The. The flight.
John Clay Wolf
Okay.
Caller
Stuff. Okay, okay. All right. All right. I was a combat pilot in Vietnam. All right.
John Clay Wolf
Okay.
Caller
From.
John Clay Wolf
They don't do cargo planes don't run past the speed. They don't bust mock.
Caller
I didn't say it was a cargo plane.
DJ Pre K
It's a hypersonic.
John Clay Wolf
Well, the hell. The hell could it be a Rolls be on a plane if it's not a cargo plane?
Caller
Well, they've got big jets. They can load. Load up things too. Ex military being. Being seeing cargo planes and stuff.
John Clay Wolf
Dude, I've yet to see a sonic boom off of a cargo plane.
Caller
Well, the Concorde used to fly.
John Clay Wolf
It's. I'll be back in a minute, people. That was the damnedest story I've ever. Tommy in Denim Springs.
Listener
Yes, sir. I'm here with my brother West. We're here driving down the road. We're listening to this guy talking about flying a cargo and his. His uncle's whatever across the. Wherever. Hypersonic. I want to hear how he gets to the grocery store.
John Clay Wolf
The. The chat room on the YouTube stream has just gone berserk with. Hang on, let me back you up. Let me back you up. Hang on, let me back you up. I mean, we went from 125,000 gay lover pen pal to a trike Harley to a Rolls in Warsaw, Poland, that we're going to fly back over here. Hypersonic non cargo jet. Son of a bitch.
Listener
When I heard Warsaw, I knew it was over. I was. I said, let's love. It's going to be good.

Episode Title: JCW ARCHIVE: The Polish Rolls Scam
Date: May 1, 2026
Host: John Clay Wolfe
Key Cast: DJ Pre K, Show Narrator, Skeptical Listener, Various Callers
This episode dives into one of the show's classic, outlandishly entertaining car-caller stories—the so-called "Polish Rolls Scam." John takes a call from a listener claiming to have inherited a Rolls Royce (and more) from a deceased friend with businesses in Poland and California. The story quickly spirals into absurdity as details unravel, with plenty of laughs, skeptical questioning, and signature JCW show banter. It's a showcase of skeptical wit, wild storytelling, and the consistent theme: “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”
John Clay Wolfe (joking on the setup):
“What'd you do, 23andMe and find out you had a long-lost pappy, and he left you a Rolls Royce?” (02:36)
Caller (insisting it’s all legitimate):
“This is not a scam. It’s not a well planned out, even elaborate scam.” (03:13, 06:55)
John Clay Wolfe (re: trike motorcycles):
“Right, exactly my point. Queer as a three-dollar bill. This guy liked you, but that’s fine.” (04:47)
Skeptical Listener (on hypersonic transport):
“No, they’re not. I’m just gonna say it, dude. No, they're not. They're just not.” (08:02)
Listener (calling in):
“When I heard Warsaw, I knew it was over. I said, let’s love. It’s going to be good.” (10:18)
The tone is irreverent, sharp, and quick-witted, with John Clay Wolfe’s signature style blending genuine car biz savvy with playful skepticism and raunchy, barstool banter. The entire segment is laced with disbelief, humor, and a nudge-and-wink approach to both the obvious scam and the entertainment value of the caller’s tall tale.
If you missed the episode:
This is peak JCW: a wild, winding caller story about inheriting luxury vehicles from an unseen friend, complete with hypersonic jets and Warsaw plot twists. John and crew expertly pick it apart, giving listeners reason to laugh and a cautionary tale about inheritance scams.
The consensus? “If you get the $128,000, call us back!”
