The late show Poncho with Stephen Colbert.
Stephen Colbert
Hey, everybody. We're back here with the Lovely and talented Mr. Chris Hemsworth from Furiosa Mad Max story. Now, Chris, it's so lovely. It's so lovely for you to be here tonight. And you know, I've interviewed you once and I feel like we're good friends at this point.
Chris Hemsworth
Yep.
Stephen Colbert
But even among my best friends like you are, I sometimes feel like I didn't get a chance to know you as well. I'd want to and want to interview. And so we've created something here called the Colbert questionnaire. And with the Colbert questionnaire, just so everyone knows, this is a series of 15 questions. And if you answer these questions honestly, Chris. Yeah. You have to answer them honestly, then you will be open like spring's first rose.
Chris Hemsworth
Oh, lovely.
Stephen Colbert
And we will be able to perceive the depths of you and you will be known to the world. Are you prepared to be known?
Chris Hemsworth
I'm a little nervous, but sure.
Stephen Colbert
Chris Hemsworth, what is the best sandwich?
Chris Hemsworth
Um, Vegemite and avocado.
Stephen Colbert
Wow. As an Australian, do you legally have to say Vegemite?
Chris Hemsworth
If I say sandwich, yes. Have you had Vegemite before?
Stephen Colbert
I have had Vegemite.
Chris Hemsworth
Do you like it?
Stephen Colbert
I had Vegemite and I've had Marmite and I've had New Zealand Vegemite. I'm not sure if it's as good as Australian Vegemite.
Chris Hemsworth
No, of course not.
Stephen Colbert
No. Yes. Vegemite tastes like Sucking on a bouillon cube.
Chris Hemsworth
Does it?
Stephen Colbert
Yes.
Chris Hemsworth
I like that. It's a nice flavor.
Stephen Colbert
Salty.
Chris Hemsworth
Salty. Beef soup.
Stephen Colbert
It's salty. Yeah. What was your first concert you ever went to?
Chris Hemsworth
Powder Finger, which was.
Stephen Colbert
Sorry, Powder Finger.
Chris Hemsworth
Powder Finger, yes.
Stephen Colbert
Did not make it this side of the drink.
Chris Hemsworth
What was Powder Finger? They're one of our biggest rock bands.
Stephen Colbert
I'm not saying they're bad, I just don't know Powder Finger. I'm not attacking Powder Finger. What? Tell me about Powder Finger.
Chris Hemsworth
They're a rock band from Australia that I grew up on.
Stephen Colbert
Okay.
Chris Hemsworth
And I remember I was. Had my brother's ID and got into the pub they were playing at.
Stephen Colbert
How old were you?
Chris Hemsworth
Like 16.
Stephen Colbert
Well, that's not too bad.
Chris Hemsworth
Yeah.
Stephen Colbert
Were you this height?
Chris Hemsworth
Nah. Almost. All right.
Stephen Colbert
What is the scariest animal? And coming from Australia, you've got some choices. Monkeys. Monkeys.
Chris Hemsworth
Monkeys, yeah.
Stephen Colbert
Why? Monkeys?
Chris Hemsworth
Like large packs of monkeys. You've been to Indonesia or India?
Stephen Colbert
I have not.
Chris Hemsworth
Big groups of monkeys and. You ever seen the wizard of Oz?
Stephen Colbert
Apples or oranges?
Chris Hemsworth
Oranges.
Stephen Colbert
All right.
Chris Hemsworth
Yeah. You?
Stephen Colbert
I don't answer these questions, man. Have you ever asked someone for their autograph?
Chris Hemsworth
Um. Yes. Yeah.
Stephen Colbert
Powder Finger.
Chris Hemsworth
Powder Finger.
Stephen Colbert
Powder Finger. Sounds like something you really should get treated for.
Chris Hemsworth
Yes.
Stephen Colbert
Yeah.
Chris Hemsworth
I don't know the origin, I'm afraid.
Stephen Colbert
You've got Powder Finger from the monkeys. Yeah, exactly. Bit your finger. Who did you ask for their autograph?
Chris Hemsworth
A long time ago. Football player, actually. I got a photograph with Billie Eilish at the Oscars. And I remember thinking, ah, don't do it, don't do it, don't do it. And I was like, nah, my kids are gonna love this. And then the moment I took it, I was like, ah. I went from work colleague to now, like a fan.
Stephen Colbert
Yeah.
Chris Hemsworth
And we'll never be friends.
Stephen Colbert
Wow.
Chris Hemsworth
Never be best friends.
Stephen Colbert
Work colleague. Have you worked with, Bill?
Chris Hemsworth
No. You know, same industry kind of. Colleague.
Stephen Colbert
Sure.
Chris Hemsworth
Bump. Bump and shoe.
Stephen Colbert
100% sure. Me and Anthony Hopkins, we're colleagues.
Chris Hemsworth
We're colleagues. You know.
Stephen Colbert
What do you think happens when die. Yeah, we make some quick shifts.
Chris Hemsworth
We've gone from. Yeah. Sandwiches.
Stephen Colbert
Yeah.
Chris Hemsworth
And monkeys. To death. Redistribution of energy will be sprinkled through the cosmos. And then.
Stephen Colbert
Do you have a favorite action movie?
Chris Hemsworth
Point Break. Yeah. I mean, it's one of my favorite movies that. I love.
Stephen Colbert
Acting.
Chris Hemsworth
Sure. Yeah. Are you a fan?
Stephen Colbert
Oh, hell yeah. Hell, yeah.
Chris Hemsworth
Who doesn't?
Stephen Colbert
Window or aisle?
Chris Hemsworth
Window. Second. Ever. Sleep.
Stephen Colbert
There you go. Favourite smell?
Chris Hemsworth
The Australian bush right before it's about to rain and everything Just starts to shift.
Stephen Colbert
Starts to shift?
Chris Hemsworth
Yeah, like the sort of your senses awaken if it's been really hot and then just a little bit of rain just starts to soften the place. And then the smells come out. Eucalyptus, gum trees and so on.
Stephen Colbert
Wow. Least favorite smell.
Chris Hemsworth
Public urinals, right?
Stephen Colbert
100%. I much prefer private urinals. Earliest memory.
Chris Hemsworth
I remember, I have this very vivid, vague memory of when we lived in Northern Territory. My dad had left to go pick someone up from the airport and I was home with my mum and I wandered out the back door to chase after him. And I have very vague, vivid memory of my feet burning on the hot ground and running from little patches of grass and then along the red dirt and the dust and another patch of grass. And then him coming over the hill and seeing me and picking me up.
Stephen Colbert
How old do you think he might have been?
Chris Hemsworth
Like four, I think.
Stephen Colbert
Cats or dogs?
Chris Hemsworth
Dogs.
Stephen Colbert
You only get one song to listen to for the rest of your life. What is it? And you don't have to listen to it continually, but when you go to listen to music, this is it.
Chris Hemsworth
Um.
Stephen Colbert
Powder Finger.
Chris Hemsworth
Besides Powder Finger. More than this. Roxy Music. Evelyn. Sure, yeah.
Stephen Colbert
What number am I thinking of?
Chris Hemsworth
Are you gonna tell me? What? It's between 1 and 10. 1 and 100.
Stephen Colbert
What number am I thinking of?
Chris Hemsworth
11 or 73. It was, right? No. Yes, it was. You're cheating. You're cheating.
Stephen Colbert
Describe the rest of your life in five words.
Chris Hemsworth
Where'd I put my keys?
